Happy Thanksgiving everyone! This is the “pumpkin pie” version, “short and sweet!” I know everyone is busy today and has plenty of family and food to get to! Enjoy!
Busted Braulio tries to lie——yet again——to Amelia about Nuria and why he has gone to see her. Nuria is done and tells Amelia everything about him being the man who deceived her and told her that he wasn’t married and that he was an accountant, blah, blah, blah. Nuria asks for Amelia’s forgiveness and tells her that as soon as she found out the truth she dumped him. She didn’t know about Santi either and never wants to see either of them again…..PUNTO!
Martha with Santi wants to know why he and Braulio were fighting and if it was over Nuria. Santi basically tells her that they’re grown and to respectfully stay out of it…..
Diego wants to see Juandres——and I’m sure Amelia too, and gets their address from the files….
Fausto goes to Chelo and tells her that Amelia transferred money. Chelo begs him to leave Amelia alone and in peace…..during their conversation Chelo runs off nauseated and holding her mouth——- pregnant? Probably….hope it’s Jacinto’s……
Santi tries to explain to Rosalia the situation with Nuria and that he didn’t know anything. Rosalia, after chastising him tells him that Nuria is at the warehouse……
At the car graveyard, the cops and Angustias and Chalo are searching for Esme. Angustias is praying a lot, but Chalo has given up on prayer. The cops find a body, but can’t make a positive ID just yet…
Diego makes it to the mansion and Juandres is happy to see him……
Tigre talking to his evil auntie, and from what I could make out, he’s also Roberto’s son?? Clarification please anyone? Tigre is happy with the way the Zepeda’s are going at one another, and evil auntie tells him that Martha, too, is just as responsible for what happened to his Mom…….
Santi roves to the warehouse and tries to convince Nuria that he didn’t know anything about her and Braulio, but it’s pointless….
Martha is with Lianna, and of course Lianna blames Nuria for everything, and convinces Martha that Nuria is a gold digger who played both brothers……
Conversation between Nuria and Santi continues as a group of employees show up and Nuria reveals who Santi really is. After they leave she proceeds to tell him how much she trusted him and how he broke her heart. He’s the brother who bedded her, so he should bask in his victory. There’s no convincing Nuria of anything, and Santi really does appear to be at a loss for words…
Braulio and Amelia argue some more cause he’s still lying. Diego comes in with Juandres, and Braulio is clearly not happy, but Diego ends up leaving with Juandres at Amelia’s bequest……. Braulio tries to convince Amelia that he’s with her because they worked their problems out, but Amelia ain’t buying it. She tells him that he’s with her because Nuria dumped his sorry behind……
Chelo sick in bed and asks Fausto if they could see Andres…..you never know with Fausto even if he appears agreeable……..
Violetta bugging Rosendo about what he knew about Santi and didn’t share it with her! So annoying!!!
Martha goes to the mothers of missing children meeting…..
TIgre wants to take Chenta out on a date. Angustias and Chalo show up and inform everyone that a body was found. Angustias is convinced it’s Esme by her hands and her hair….. later it is positively confirmed that it’s Esme….
Amelia cries on Diego’s shoulder about both Fausto and Braulio….they hug…..Santi comes in because Amelia wants to discuss the situation with Nuria…..later Amelia goes to see Nuria at the apartment complex to get answers…..
Until next episode, enjoy your holiday foristas!

I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving. I'm always thankful for Caray--our recappers, our commenters and our hardworking admin, Rgv Chick.
I still don’t understand why I’m here, Omer says to Turgut. Hilmi’s lawyer has already explained the situation. We wanted to hear your version, Turgut replies. Were you always with your father, the AG asks, did Ilgaz or Hilmi talk about money during the meeting? Did you witness the meeting?
Omer says he was kicked out of the meeting at Ilgaz’s house. He wasn’t kind enough to let me in, so I don’t know what was originally discussed. When the three of them spoke in my home, I had to excuse myself to the restroom. I was there for a long time [downloading the app?] I’d be lying if I said I knew what they discussed or agreed on. All I know is I’m not involved.
Turgut questions this--you’re not involved? Omer nods. Turgut slaps the invoice for the CNC machine down in front of Omer. Your firm bought that machine per your instructions. One that can be used to forge signatures. Why did you order it? Omer answers, because Tilmen is a large firm and there are things we have to do.
Turgut asks, where is the machine? I don’t know, Omer replies, did you collect it from the office? Ozcan interjects, should we question Yekta Tilmen again? Turgut puts Ozcan on hold. He asks Omer, why do I get the feeling you’re plotting something? Why were you here last night? Why were you watching DA Ilgaz in detention? What is your problem with Ilgaz?
There’s no problem, Omer replies, if I had one, I’d be here in a different manner. Yesterday, I witnessed a big irregularity. I didn’t complain because I’m a quiet person. Ozcan asks about the irregularity and takes a seat across from Omer. Omer tells them Ceylin spent the night with Ilgaz in his cell. As far as I know, she shouldn’t have been inside, right?
Ilgaz and Yuksel go out into the prison yard. Yuksel says this is the best part of the day. A familiar face approaches. It’s Fake Cetin! [sorry, I can’t remember his real name.] He calls out—DA Ilgaz! What are you doing here, Ilgaz asks. What kind of question is that, the Faker replies, shouldn’t I be asking you this? [I have to agree with Faker on this.] You’re the last person I expected to see here.
Ilgaz remains quiet. The Faker slaps him on the shoulder and welcomes him. He offers his extensive network services to Ilgaz: phones, money, food, information, anything you need. Just ask. I see you haven’t changed, Ilgaz says, keep it up. A diamond is still a diamond, Faker replies, even if it’s in a garbage dump. I put my abilities to use no matter where I am.
The Faker continues, I also have great hearing. News flies fast. For example, your arrival at this prison was met with a lot of interest by a certain Balkan gang. They are excited. I can find out more if you want. Ilgaz tells Faker to get lost. He laughs and leaves. Yuksel asks, someone you know? Ilgaz nods, unfortunately.
Omer leaves the AG’s office. He crosses paths with Ceylin and greets her. She doesn’t even slow down as she says, sorry, I can’t talk now, I’m late.
Eren and Yekta wait for Ceylin in her car. Eren asks him if there’s anything else he knows. Yekta snaps back, we are sitting at the same table, but we are not sharing food. Settle for what I gave you. Yekta panics when he sees Omer leaving the courthouse. He ducks down. Is he coming this way? Tell me when he leaves. He can’t see me.
Eren has a little fun with this before saying Omer’s gone. He asks Yekta, are you afraid of that baby? You’re embarrassing yourself! He’s a murderer, Yekta replies, even wise men know when to fear! Remember that, Eren Komiser.
Ceylin meets Derya in her office. He killed the journalist, Derya says, that’s serious. That’s what Yekta said, Ceylin replies, it saddens him to do it, but it can’t go unpunished. He will be better off behind bars. Ceylin explains further. According to Yekta’s story, Omer’s brother, the one we thought committed suicide, may have been killed by Omer. We may be dealing with another serial killer.
Since you are the DA in Berkhan’s case, Ceylin asks, I was wondering if you could reopen the case and get an order so we can review his traffic reports. We can find out what Omer has been up to lately. Maybe he has been in touch with Hilmi. Derya says she will put in the request tomorrow.
Ceylin mentions that Ozcan has taken over Ilgaz’s office. Derya knows and calls Ozcan “hateful”. Ceylin has another request—I need the key to his office. Derya gives an incredulous look. Ceylin says she’s going to look for the document used to forge Ilgaz’s signature. If I find the original, she says, I’ll have both documents. I need to do this tonight. The key is on the bookshelf. Derya will try.
Before she leaves, Ceylin asks Derya how she’s doing. I’m not well, Derya replies, it scares me to say it. Sometimes, I don’t know what to do, whether to leave it all behind and go, whether to mourn or not. I don’t know. I’m here, Ceylin tells her, you know that.
Ceylin rejoins her partners. She tells them Derya will get the order so we can review Omer’s records. Yekta asks about Ilgaz’s signature. Ceylin says she’ll check his office tonight. Ceylin drives off and we see Omer standing between parked cars like he was spying. He makes a call—Yekta is collaborating with Ceylin. Eren is with them, and they are after me. This isn’t good, you need to help me. We don’t know who he called.
Goksu waits to find a print match for Eyup. Anil calls her to come to toxicology. Wouldn’t you know, as soon as she leaves, the match is found: Gokhan Denzi. [Yep, Serdar’s brother.]
We segue into Eyup leaving a phone message for “Omer Pasha”. I’m going to send you two videos. Plenty of content there. The tasks you asked me to do, the stuff you made me do. The document in the hard drive of the machine you had me burn, and some tasks I did for myself and in which you play a starring role. I bet you wonder why I’m sending this to you. This is your last warning. Keep your word and help me. No excuses about you being in trouble. Remember, your hands aren’t clean.
Omer returns to the office and gets the message. He plays the videos. In the first video he tells Eyup to plant the relic in Ilgaz’s home. The other is Omer forging Ilgaz signature, with narration from Eyup. Omer removes his glasses. [question: is he going to kill Eyup before our gang finds him? And will Cinar be blamed? Lol.]
Ilgaz and Yuksel eat in their cell. The first day is hard, Yuksel says, you don’t know what you’re eating or drinking. Yuksel asks Ilgaz if he can have his dessert if he’s not going to eat it. Ilgaz gives “Judge Yuksel” the go ahead. Yuksel reminds Ilgaz he’s not a judge anymore. Ilgaz finds a new name to call his cellmate—Yuksel Baba. Yuksel approves. Ilgaz asks him why he’s here. It’s a sad story, Yuksel replies, it doesn't matter. Let’s talk about something else.
Ceylin and Yekta are waiting in Eren’s office. I always wondered what it would be like to be you, working in this office, he says. Ceylin asks…so what’s it like? Boring and mundane, Yekta replies.
Eren gets a food delivery. He enters the office… food’s here and I have news. Hilmi and Omer called each other several times. Before Hilmi went abroad, Omer was the last person he called.
Yekta says that’s not enough. He’ll say Hilmi’s a client and it was okay. Yekta reaches for the food. Eren gives him a sharp no. Ceylin thinks this news is a good start and it will help their case. Eren unwraps a sandwich and hands it to “his queen”.
Yekta gets snarky. You call Ceylin “queen”? That’s the nicest nickname I’ve ever heard. Eren retorts, yes, and I call you the Devil. You have no manners, Yekta snaps back as he reaches for food again. Hold on, Eren tells him and moves it out of reach. He hands his “queen” some water.
You only bought two, Yekta complains, why don’t I get any food? Eren throws Yekta’s words back at him-- We’re sitting at the same table, but it doesn’t mean we are sharing our food.
Derya comes to Eren’s office. He offers her something to eat [lol]. She politely declines. I have bad news, she says, DA Ozcan is working late. He’s working on the indictment he will turn in tomorrow morning. It makes sense since the press is all over this. Ilgaz will be tried asap.
After delivering her news, Derya says she should go home [to her house]. Eren wants her to take something to eat. She declines again. He tells her he’s available 24/7 if she needs anything. She knows.
Yekta complains again. You could offer me some food. Eren asks, are you hungry? Yes! Eren takes a big bite of his sandwich.
Ceylin follows Derya out. She asks, would you like me to go with you? No thanks, Derya replies, I had to leave sooner or later. Ceylin thinks she should take her time. Stay until you are ready. Is anyone ever ready, Derya wonders, you know the answer. I need to face this. Ceylin says, if you change your mind, call me. I’m scared to ask… but what are you going to do? Derya puts her hand on her stomach, I’m going to have our baby. They hug. It’s the best news I’ve heard lately, Ceylin says.
Goksu rushes past them, straight into Eren’s office. Ceylin returns in time to hear Goksu say she knows who the prints belong to—Gokhan Denzi, Serdar’s brother! That loser had a brother, Yekta asks.
Ceylin leaves to tell her family. Eren runs out to assemble a team to find Eyup/Gokhan. Yekta takes the opportunity to pick up a sandwich. He gives it a sniff. It doesn’t pass the test and he drops it.
Ceylin explains to her family that the plot against Ilgaz seems to be Omer’s work. He used Serdar’s brother as a pawn to do his dirty work. We think those two are working together. Parla says she doesn’t understand what Omer has to do with this and Eyup isn’t around anymore.
Merve is very nervous. Ceylin says don’t panic, just be careful. Stay away from strangers, don’t talk to them. Tugce immediately looks at Cinar. Ceylin continues, stay off social media. This is your HQ, spend time together here. Osman tells Parla to stay home to study. Tugce objects. Osman wants the police to find Eyup first. Ceylin’s suggestion was a good idea.
Cinar had no idea Serdar had a brother in prison. Tugce starts arguing with Cinar and Ceylin tells them to stop. Eren is on his way, I hope he catches him and that will end that. Ceylin leaves to see Ilgaz.
They cut a brief scene. I don’t know if they will splice it in later as they have been playing scenes out of order from the original. Derya carries a paint bucket into a small room. She opens it… the paint is pink. This is bittersweet.
Ceylin meets with Ilgaz in the private conference room. They hold on to each other for a while. I have good news, she says. He doesn’t want to let her go. A sniff and a kiss first. Then they sit and hold hands across the table. I’ve been running around with Yekta… he interrupts—I don’t like that. It’s like I told Eren, she replies, I made a deal with the devil, but the devil is in trouble, too. It’s under control.
Ceylin resumes, we reviewed traffic reports and communications and Omer and Hilmi were in touch. Tomorrow I’ll file a motion to request your release. Ilgaz tells her not to. The indictment and initial hearing will be set, he says. Present your evidence at the hearing. She asks why. Ilgaz explains, Omer is smart, but is he powerful? If Yekta isn’t helping him, who is? [Yes, we want to know!]
I never considered he was working with a partner, Ceylin says, I thought he had means of his own. Ilgaz tells her, put yourself in Hilmi’s shoes. It’s a big job. Would he see Omer as an equal? Would he want Omer for the job? Ceylin considers this and says Ilgaz is right. He’s a rookie… but who’s helping him? Ilgaz doesn’t know but says they should be careful.
Now for the not so great news, Ceylin says. She tells him about Cinar’s friend, Eyup. Serdar’s brother, who Omer sprung from prison. Ceylin says she already warned the family. Ilgaz tells her to get them protection. Next, Ceylin wants to talk about the forged signature. Ilgaz says he could listen to her all night. She jokes, I like to keep things professional with my clients.
Time to say goodbye. Ceylin says the hardest thing is leaving Ilgaz there. He tells her to go home and rest, take a hot bath, have a warm drink, and go to bed. How can I sleep without you, she replies. He replies, and I share a cell with a 70-year old judge. He gives her a kiss and tells her to buy tickets. Bus, ferry, plane, train…it doesn’t matter. Just buy the ticket. She asks where. You decide, he says, we’ll go at the end of the month.
Turgut reads the indictment Ozcan has prepared. Ozcan looks very nervous. Finally, Turgut says, you explained it very well. The classification of the crime and punishment are logical. Ozcan is relieved and pleased. He asks, are we ready for the hearing? Yes, Turgut notes, it’s a shame his indictment was written at his desk. Ironic. Ozcan says it’s sad, but we all get what we deserve. [can’t wait for Ozcan to get his.] Would you like to request an immediate date, or should I? Turgut says he’ll take care of it.
Someone approaches Turgut as he leaves. He introduces himself—Attorney Ahmet Sencil, member of the Bar’s Disciplinary Board. I wanted to inform you of an ongoing disciplinary investigation. It pertains to a criminal case. It’s also linked to this courthouse. Are you available? Yes, Turgut replies. He and Ozcan go back into the office with Ahmet.
Parla and Tugce get settled in the classroom. Uh oh, seed shells are in Parla's desk, and they fall to the floor. Some boys poke fun at this. Parla tells Tugce about the shells found under her pillow. Someone’s after me, she says. [ya think?]
Yekta and Omer are about to go to trial, when Yekta spots Ceylin in the hall. He tells Omer to get started, he’ll be back. Omer asks where he’s going and Yekta deflects. Omer is suspicious. The case is called, no time for Omer to question or follow.
Yekta catches up to Ceylin. Are you here to file the appeal? Yes, she replies, I’m going to argue for his release. What about the traffic reports, Yekta asks. I’ll play that card later, she says. Yekta advises her to ask his opinion.
Ceylin heads off with Yekta following and Turgut spots her. He calls out to her before she enters an office. Turgut tells her an investigation has been opened against her. She’s surprised. Turgut explains, you’re accused of destroying evidence for Ozge Isik, and along with Osman Yilmaz, burying the body of the man she claims to have killed.
That’s a very serious accusation, Ceylin replies. Turgut says the Bar representative is here and we’d like to take your statement. Feel free to explain everything to us. Come with me. Yekta whispers to Ceylin, you didn’t do something so crazy, did you?
Ceylin enters the office and Turgut closes the door to speak with Yekta in the hallway. Are you her lawyer? Yekta replies, I’d like to be present as my colleague’s lawyer if you permit. Turgut thinks back, didn’t you travel to my office in Ankara to complain about her? What changed? Life doesn’t change anyone, Yekta answers, besides, as a lawyer, I’m within my right to work and defend a colleague. Long live justice.
Turgut and Yekta enter the office. He points to Yekta and tells Ceylin--your lawyer. He says he’ll sit in with you. Ozcan finds it interesting for a lawyer to have a lawyer. Yekta says the profession demands it. Let’s get to it. What is my client accused of?
She was reported to the Bar, Turgut explains, accused of helping Ozge bury a body. The Bar reported you to the DA’s office. This is ridiculous, Ceylin says, Ozge turned herself in and admitted the crime. She stated in her confession that she buried the body. So you claim you didn’t do it, Turgut asks. Ceylin sighs and lies, I didn’t do it.
Yekta speaks up. I imagine you have some evidence if you rushed her in here. Turgut says there is no evidence. The investigation just started, and we want to question Ceylin. Get some evidence, Yekta replies and then we’ll testify. Come on, Ceylin, let’s go. Turgut stops them. How dare you act like this? Don’t make me use my right to detain Ceylin.
Yekta laughs, there’s no need, sir. You and DA Ozcan aren’t ones to go off protocol. For instance, I heard you met with the judge days before DA Ilgaz’s hearing. The Bar lawyer looks very interested in this item. Yekta continues, I didn’t believe it, though, I didn’t think you capable of such a thing.
Turgut tries to get a word in, but Yekta talks over him. Don’t misunderstand… I don’t believe you did something so irregular that could lead anyone to believe you pressured the judge into deciding. A rookie mistake is unbecoming of you. Now, if you don’t mind, we must go. As soon as you have evidence, we will cooperate with you and the court. Right, Ceylin? That gets an “uh-hum” from Ceylin. Turgut and Ozcan are dumbfounded, and the Bar lawyer looks at them askance.
Outside, Ceylin asks Yekta how he knew they met with the judge. I didn’t, he replies, I took a wild guess. They laugh. You’re smart, he says, but nothing beats experience, dear Ceylin. Talent and smarts are not enough. I agree, she says, as does making the most of your opportunities. She waves Ilgaz’s keys in front of Yekta. Bravo, Yekta exclaims. I hope you can appreciate that we are unbeatable as a team. Don’t forget this. [Is Yekta on a path to redemption? I can’t see it yet.]
Eren and Metin visit Ilgaz. Metin has info on the car rental business. It’s called Sarmasik. Ilgaz asks, where did you get that information? I may not be an officer anymore but I’m not dead yet, Metin replies, we used to work with an informant. I found him easily.
Eren explains, thanks to his tip, we found a 6-person family who rented a car to go to Greece. Metin says, we have yet to hear if the antiques turned up. They are probably being careful because eyes are upon them, Eren says. Border Patrol has been notified. We think they will do the first run next Friday. I can reach out to Contraband so they can catch them. No, Ilgaz replies, I’ll catch them myself when I get out.
May God keep you strong and hopeful, Metin tells his son, if you’re okay, I’m okay. I’m fine, Ilgaz says, give Defne a kiss for me, send regards to Cinar and Grandpa. Is Grandpa okay? Don’t worry, Metin replies, Merdan Kaya is fine. Metin gives Ilgaz a hug. Visiting hours are over. Eren tells Ilgaz he checked Yuksel’s case. He accepted a bribe. A large amount. It was caught on video. Ilgaz wonders why he would do that. Eren doesn’t know.
Yekta joins Omer in the courtroom. Omer asks, why are you doing this, Dad? Why are you helping Ceylin? I didn’t do anything, Yekta replies, it’s just like when you say you didn’t do anything. Yekta sits and leans over to Omer—a snowball is rolling from atop a mountain, and it’s headed straight towards us. I’m trying to keep it from swallowing us both [lol.] I’m fighting for us, son, and he pats Omer on the shoulder.
Tugce and Parla arrive at the pool hall. They make a beeline to Cinar who is at a pool table. Tugce dumps a bag of shells onto the table. What is this? Tugce answers, Eyup, Gokhan, whatever, he ate them and left them under the girl’s desk. Figure something out! He’s coming for her.
Cinar tells them the last time he was at Parla’s he saw some shells by her house. They were near my car, he says, I didn’t know what it was at first. I kept asking myself why they were there. He asks Parla if she’s okay. Yes, she replies, but we have to come up with a plan. Should we tell Ceylin or Eren? [please, do!]
Of course, Cinar says no. Tugce’s eyes pop. I got you into this mess and I’ll get you out, Cinar says. Be careful from now on. Don’t go out on your own. Parla says she won’t. If he’s after me, we’ll find a way to get rid of him. We’ll draw him out of his hideout. He’s a wanted man, right Tugce?
Tugce can’t believe how stupid her friends are. She laments, why am I miles away from the life of a normal teenager? [find new friends, Tugce.] Lord, why do you punish me?
Eren and Ceylin go to the courthouse after hours and enter Ilgaz’s office. They proceed to look through the files. Bingo! They have a match!
And we are out!
Our dizi won the 2023 International Emmy for Best Telenovela. Pinar Deniz and Kaan Urgancıoğlu (Ilcey) were in NYC. So were Sema Ergenekon (head writer) and Ali Bilgin (director).
Thank you Carmella, for the pumpkin pie recap! :) I didn't watch until this morning, I wasn't busy just lazy lol I spent the day watching sappy romantic Christmas movies and eating turkey.
I was shocked that Nuria told the whole truth to Amelia so early in the game, good for her!! Neither Santi or Braulio are going to leave her alone, which is too bad Nuria's been through a lot and she doesn't deserve to be in the middle of this drama. And with Lianna convincing Martha that Nuria is the gold digger she's sure to have unfair insults and accusations thrown at her from Martha soon enough. Heck, Martha might end up being the one to fire her since neither brother will want to do it.
They did say that Roberto was Tigre's father and that he refused to acknowledge him. The flash back showed the one time they went to confront Roberto at the company, but Tigre's mom was so uncomfortable they left without talking to him. Tigre says the Roberto set the fire hoping to kill him along with his mother! And he's upset too the Roberto wanted to acknowledge and even give stock to Martha's long-lost daughter but he always refused to acknowledge him...Martha is also somehow to blame for all of this. The whole story rings untrue to me, and the auntie is just plain creepy. My guess is that auntie is poisoning Tigre's mind against the Zepeda's for her own nefarious reasons, but we will see. What does seem clear is that Tigre believes it hook line and sinker, true or not.
I don't know how Fausto can agree to let Chelo see Juandres. He's a lot of horrible things but he doesn't appear to be stupid. There's a possibility that seeing Chelo could jog Juandres's memory, and he must realize that. I really hope they don't ask to see him! Be creepy in the other city!!! That innocent little boy doesn't need to be exposed to more of Fausto, he already has to contend with Braulio.
Lots of things to like about Amelia and once again I like how she approaches Nuria at the end. She doesn't come in yelling or demanding answers, she comes calmly and says I thought long and hard about whether or not to come here, but I need answers and only you can give them to me.
Thank you, dondi356. Great recap and sidenotes.
Congratulations to "Secrets" on the International Emmy! Well deserved.
I still can't believe how lax bank security is in this dizi. All you need is a forged signature and you can transfer big amounts to and from various accounts. The whole case against Ilgaz is based on that. It's not as simple in real life. How would Omer know all the account numbers? Or were they new accounts? Is it that easy to create a new account for Ilgas and his relatives?
Yekta is fun to watch lately.
Omer killed the reporter and Yekta just used it when it was convenient to him. He himself took advantage of the situation and milked Haluk for as much as he could. There wouldn't be a Tilmen law firm now without Haluk. Wouldn't investigating Omer's motives cause trouble for Yekta?
Fools don't learn from their own mistakes. Witness Cinar and Parla. Tugce is the last hope for not letting them step into it again.
Gracias, Dondi. Your thorough recaps are must-reads. Everything is crucial and seems to be building to some grand slam, good or bad. ITA the International Emmy is well deserved. The writing and plotting (though I'm still bummed about Par's demise) and acting are superb.
I'm enthralled by everyone working an angle -- Metin, Ceylin, Eren, Yekta(!), Derya... -- to clear Ilgaz. Yikes, even Fake Cetin might prove useful, even though Ilgaz (understandably) snubbed him.
My favorite scene was Yekta coming to Ceylin's rescue when she got called in for helping Ozge bury the man. It was funny seeing Yekta make Turgut back up.
Can't wait to see what happens tonight.
The total BRUTALITY of the rape of Lianna by Braulio pretty much dominated whatever else was happening in this episode——at least for me. Lianna is a sneaky, conniving, murderous bitch, but even what she suffered at Braulio’s hands was disgusting, and yes, I was horrified for her. He was knocking her around like a ping pong ball and reveling in the fact that she brought this on herself by bringing Nuria to his home and knowing all along that she was with Santiago. Braulio really is a repulsive, obsessive, immoral jerk, who deserves to suffer like nobody’s business. I find myself hoping that Nuria turns out to be his long lost sister leaving him to suffer in loving her, and hating himself even more for it. With his contribution to Roberto’s death, and being in love with his sister and never being able to have her, would surely throw him over the edge. He deserves to be in a straight jacket mumbling incoherently for the rest of his days!
A lot was going on with everyone at Esme’s wake, but it seems that Ray has some illness that’s going to affect his future with Rosalia……
Chelo had an epiphany that the baby she is carrying is Jacinto’s. I don’t blame her for not wanting a child by Fausto, but it’s not the child’s fault his/her daddy is a psycho. Maybe having a child of his own would change him——maybe….
Loved Amelia pulling out the Tequila and doing shots with Diego, lol. Their kiss was very passionate and could’ve easily led to the couch, but even inebriated, Amelia is a stand up girl. I love how Diego is with her! He’s definitely her “person!”
.
Thanks a million, dondi, for another wonderful, complete recap. As usual, I seem to have missed things.
Omer is evil and a small weasel as well. Ratting out security in that holding cell because Ceylin was in there snuggled up with Ilgaz was SO petty. He really was dying of jealousy because of seeing the love between Ceylin and Ilgaz. And how does he even get access to those cells?
So we saw Eyup's evidence to threaten Omer in those videos. But who took the one of Omer handing Eyup the little figurine?
I thought Eren was being a little mean withholding food from Yekta. Now that he's sort of part of Our Team, a morsel would have seemed appropriate. I guess Eren is just NOT ready to get over Yekta's actions in the past.
Amen on really wanting to see Ozgan get "his".
Yekta shone in that scene where he backed Turgut and Ozgan off and right in front of the bar attorney. We've seen him talk on and on SO many times, but for once it was a lot of fun. And he was right, even though he told Ceylin it was a long shot. I hated that scene where Turgut and Ozgan pressured the judge, hinting that there'd be blowback over favoritism for Ilgaz if he got home detention.
"Find new friends, Tugce." Yep!
Carmella, thank you for the recap . I saw parts of this episode , and I couldn't believe how out of control Braulio was . He has definitely sealed his fate and earned himself a massive anvil.
After seeing the actress playing Amelia play a dreadful villain in a telenovela on Univision, I am still having trouble accepting her as good. However, the actor playing Diego has convinced me that he has a solid gold heart . susan
Ilgaz finds plane tickets among his papers.
Eyup [less letters than Gokhan] is in stalker mode. Parla posts a message on social media and he reads: “I’ll be here again next Friday at 11a.” [weren’t the kids told to stay off social media? Hmm..]
Merdan Dede peels an apple and gets a message: “My condolences. I’ve left this world like a terrible memory of the past. –Igor Yanev” Merdan smiles, rest in peace, Igor. Defne comes to sit beside him and he cuts her a piece of the apple.
Ilgaz is dressed for court. Yuksel’s lawyer comes to see him. Yuksel makes an excuse he’s sick. Ilgaz knows Yuksel isn’t sick. He asks, why won’t you see your lawyer? I can’t fight this battle with my head held high like you, Yuksel replies, I can’t prove my innocence before the court. I sold myself.
Ilgaz asks why. Yuksel notes, there’s a lawyer that comes to see you. Ceylin, Ilgaz replies. Your face lights up when you say her name, Yuksel says, your eyes sparkle when you see her. You love her very much. Love, the fear of losing your loved one forces your hand. Especially if that woman is all you have in life. I grew up in an orphanage, Yuksel explains, Reyhan was my mother, father, sister, my everything. We were together 45 years. Never apart.
Yuksel continues, I was told my wife was dying. Her illness progressed and I spiraled. I visited every doctor. I did everything so Reyhan would live. Even for one more day. Even if it meant she took one more breath. I bowed my head. But life didn’t let me keep her. Reyhan died. [sounds like Metin’s situation with his late wife.] Ilgaz places a sympathetic hand on Yuksel.
The guard calls Ilgaz for transport to the courthouse.
Ceylin and Yekta arrive at the courthouse.
Parla is at the location she mentioned online. Eyup approaches her and she takes off running. He gives chase but can’t catch her. [Does he have lead in his pants?] She runs into an abandoned building [No… she can’t be that stupid.] Eyup gives us a pose to show his evil intent and then he follows her inside. He walks through the building, calling out to her, bla, bla… until Cinar pops out of hiding and bashes Eyup over the head.
The girls come running. Parla panics, is he dead? Cinar checks. Eyup is just unconscious. Merve and Tugce want to tie him up. Cinar tries to calm Parla down. Tugce finds Eyup’s phone. Maybe Omer’s number is in here! Tugce uses his fingerprint to unlock the phone. “Omer Pasha” is in the contacts. They open the videos.
Tugce says, let’s get this to Ceylin. She asks Cinar, what do we do with him? Cinar says he will call Eren and wait there. Get the phone to Ceylin. Hurry!
There’s a celebration at the police station. Eren has been promoted to captain! The crew brought in baklava. Eren asks Rafet if he can go to Ilgaz’s hearing. Rafet gives him permission and tells Eren “savcıma da selam söyle” give my regards to the DA, too.
Umut tells Eren that AG Turgut sent a letter asking about Kesik’s burial. Did you tell him we’re working on it, Eren asks.
Cinar calls Eren. Looks like Eren will miss the hearing.
Ilgaz arrives in the courtroom and Ilcey flirts. I miss you, she says. Get me out of here and I’ll show you how much I missed you, he replies.
The judges enter the courtroom, along with DA Ozcan. Omer comes in and sits next to Yekta. Turgut also enters the courtroom.
Ozcan starts. As a result of our investigation, we ask in the name of the people, that Ilgaz Kaya, who we found to have been collaborating with smugglers of artifacts, and accepting bribes, be sentenced in accordance with the articles of remission. Moreover, DA Ilgaz, who worked as a judicial employee, in accordance with Article 252 of the Penal Code, should be forced to serve at least half of the sentence. Judge Melek has to call for silence in the courtroom.
The girls are in a taxi, hoping to get to the courthouse in time.
Ceylin makes her case. We reject all baseless accusations, Your Honor. If you allow, I’d like to explain that the evidence is deceitful and is part of a conspiracy. For starters, the DA’s office didn’t include the evidence we requested. Surveillance footage of Ilgaz Kaya’s office wasn’t included. We also note that the date when the app was downloaded was not confirmed.
She continues, the DA’s duty isn’t just to gather evidence against the defendant, but to also obtain evidence in favor of the defendant and attach it to the file.
Ozcan says that footage wasn’t included because nothing pertaining to this case was found. Ceylin asks, is that for the DA or for the court to decide? Judge Melek says have it attached to the file, and she asks Ceylin to continue.
Ceylin offers, we assert that Ilgaz Kaya didn’t sign the bank notice and that his signature was forged. We believe his signature was forged two days prior with a CNC machine, which was purchased by the Tilmen Law Firm. The receipt is on file. Judge Melek looks at it. Ceylin says the machine was bought on Omer Atamer’s orders.
Yekta whispers to Omer—why did you buy it? I didn’t, he replies. You did, Yekta counters, they have a receipt. You bought it, Omer tells him.
Judge Melek asks if Ceylin can prove the individual mentioned purchased the machine. Yes, Ceylin replies, the firm’s accountant is ready to testify. Ceylin proceeds. The document allegedly signed by Ilgaz, came from his office, and was returned there. Who removed the document? We ask that you review the footage immediately and that this evidence is added to the file. I’d also like to submit a piece of evidence which was delivered to us last-minute before the hearing. She hands the bailiff a flash drive and papers.
The papers are reviewed by the panel and the images are shown on a screen. They are the documents signed by Ilgaz—one real, one forged. Ceylin says, both signatures are identical. One is on an official document and the other is the order for the bank. I’d like to question our forensic expert. Ozcan looks worried. Judge Melek wants to hear the expert.
Eren arrives at Cinar’s location. There’s no answer when he calls Cinar.
Ceylin asks Goksu, is it possible for someone to always sign the exact same way? Goksu says it’s not possible and she’s sure of it. Ceylin tells the judge this shows it would be impossible for Ilgaz to have signed his signature the same way twice in a row. His signature was forged.
Ozcan speaks up. This theory claims that Ilgaz Kaya’s signature was forged. How do we know which was which? Maybe the official signature was copied from the bank letter. Ceylin admits that’s possible, but the defendant benefits from the reasonable doubt. Given this, I ask that we evaluate all potential possibilities, that we remove all unsubstantiated claims, and that my client is released for the time being, Your Honor.
Eren walks through the building, calling for Cinar. He finds Cinar on the ground, out cold.
Judge Melek tells Ozcan the file is incomplete and asks, is there anything you’d like to say? Perhaps it’s not my place to say this, he replies, but even if this isn’t a perfect case, a crime was committed. Therefore, Ilgaz Kaya should remain in custody.
Judge Melek makes her decision. Letters requesting all missing information will be sent out. Ilgaz Kaya’s signature on the banking letter will be examined by multiple experts. We will determine the date when the app was downloaded onto Ilgaz’s phone, and we will determine his location at the time. Next hearing is set for June 3, 2023, at 10:15a. Furthermore, Ilgaz Kaya will be released from custody.
Sighs of relief. Omer adjusts his glasses. The girls burst into the courtroom. Ceylin! Ceylin asks the judge, this could be important. May I? The judge gives permission.
Tugce tells Ceylin they found something huge. Ceylin looks at the video and breaks into a big smile. Your Honor, I’d like to add this piece of evidence I just received. It seems the culprit is among us.
Omer leaves the courtroom and Yekta follows him out. He places a hand on the young man’s shoulder—where are you going, Yakup? Metin comes out, too, and gives Omer the death stare.
Eyup’s video is played in the courtroom. Ozcan is stunned. Judge Melek speaks, let’s reopen the record. Ilgaz Kaya’s attorney introduced footage as evidence. The footage will be added to the file since it could affect the court’s decision. We will continue with the hearing.
Ozcan objects. The judge interrupts, we’ve seen the footage and made our final comments. Ozcan looks sick. He whispers to himself… absolved. Judge Melek gives another ruling. Before everyone in this courtroom, we’ve decided to arrest Omer Atamer and we absolve Ilgaz Kaya of all guilt.
Judge Melek turns to Ozcan and says, you have another case. Get the indictment ready.
Ilcey embrace. We did it! You did it, Ilgaz tells her. I did this for myself, she says, I can’t live without you.
Omer is cuffed. He stares at Ilcey. Yekta notices.
Ceylin asks the girls where they got the phone. Ilgaz asks, where is Cinar? Tugce says Cinar was going to hand Eyup over to her dad. We set up that fool. Ilgaz asks, did you catch him? No answer. Ilgaz sighs, will he ever learn his lesson? Ceylin tells the girls they will be questioned.
Lots of happiness and compliments to Ceylin on her excellent defense. I didn’t do it alone, she says, we all worked together. Yekta pipes up, “en çok ben”–me the most! Congratulations, partner! It was a flawless defense.
Turgut asks to have a word with Ilgaz outside. Ilgaz steps out of the courtroom and looks daggers at Omer. Ozcan tells the officers to take Omer to a cell to be questioned later.
Omer asks to speak with Ceylin for a moment. He tells her she’s making a big mistake. He places something in her hand. I’m sorry, he says, but soon you’ll realize I’m right. Omer is taken away. Ceylin opens her palm. It’s a bullet casing.
Ozcan and Turgut speak with Ilgaz in the hall. Ozcan says, I want you to know I only acted on the evidence. The relic was found in your home, the money transfers, your signature… it all looked real. It was well-done, Ilgaz replies, but I told you it was a conspiracy. We were fooled, Ozcan admits. We’re so easily fooled, Ilgaz answers pointedly.
Turgut offers his apologies saying, I made a big mistake. I should have believed in your honest nature from the start, especially since I bore witness to it in the past. I’m ashamed by what happened. I’m sorry. We don’t see an acceptance from Ilgaz.
Gul wonders why they took Ilgaz aside. Metin says they are apologizing. Aylin says he shouldn’t accept it. Osman thinks it’s not enough. Ceylin walks past. Where are you going, Gul asks. I have something to do, she replies, I’ll be right back.
Eren helps Cinar out of the building. Cinar says he hit me and ran. We’ll catch him, Eren replies. Cinar wonders if the girls made it to the courthouse. He tells Eren about Eyup’s phone. Eren wants Cinar to get checked out by a doctor. Then we’ll talk to the girls and then I’m going to ask about this latest stupid stunt.
Eren calls this into the station. Gokhan Denzi. Notify all teams. Suspect is dangerous. Cinar wants to skip the hospital and go directly to the courthouse. They argue about it. Eren calls Ceylin and gets the news that Ilgaz was exonerated.
Omer is brought to a cell. Ceylin comes to see him. She holds up the bullet casing. What is this? Don’t you understand, Omer replies. Ceylin is not in the mood for games. Omer says to ask Yekta. He will tell you. He laughed when he gave this to me. Omer stops Ceylin before she leaves. If you want to know, ask him who reported you to the Bar.
Ceylin asks, what are you trying to do? Are you trying to drag Yekta down with you? I just want you to see the big picture, Omer replies, what’s behind everything you see. We all saw, she tells him, you gave a relic to someone and told him what to do. And who gave me the relic, Omer asks. Yes, Ceylin, I’m just a middleman.
Is that why you said your mother was dead, Ceylin asks, or that you never met your brother? Your mother is alive, and she has a lot of pictures of you with your brother. And your name isn’t Omer, it’s Yakup. Or it was Yakup, right?
Hmm… Omer says, we all lie about our past. For instance, have you ever told anyone what happened on that first weekend of mid-term break in your third year at university? Ceylin lashes out—shut your mouth! Shut up! You’re a liar! You’re not even Yekta’s son!
The DNA says otherwise, Omer replies. Ceylin exclaims, you’re talking nonsense! You’re a sicko who came to watch Ilgaz at night. You’re arrogant enough to think I’d believe all your lies! She starts to walk away. Omer calls out—I didn’t come to watch Ilgaz, Ceylin. I only came to see you. Ceylin is unsettled.
Turgut and Ozcan are done with their apologies. Yekta approaches Ilgaz. “Geçmiş olsun, Ilgaz.” –may it be in the past—and you’re welcome. Ilgaz turns to walk. Yekta stops him. You’re a free man today thanks to me, too. I helped you and worked beside Ceylin in the name of justice and for your sake. You did it for yourself, Ilgaz and viewerville replies.
Not true, Yekta says, a white flag waves above us, we have a truce. Metin walks over. Ilgaz, we are all going out to eat. Yekta tries to invite himself. Great idea! I’m hungry! We should celebrate. Am I invited? Ilgaz gives a flat no. Your efforts to save yourself can’t be considered help. That wasn’t nice, Yekta replies, I don’t deserve that.
Ceylin walks up and Yekta complains to her—DA Ilgaz has abruptly severed our friendship. We’re not through with you yet, she replies, I have something to say to you. Ilgaz tells Metin to go, and they will catch up later. Let’s go to my office, Ilgaz says. Ceylin gives him the bad news—Ozcan has set up in there. Yekta makes a snarky comment that everyone is out for Ilgaz’s job. Ilgaz says, let’s go to Derya.
Outside the courthouse, Aylin admonishes Parla for this latest stupidity. [Not that Aylin is much smarter than her daughter.] Parla excuses it by saying they helped Ilgaz. She should be thanked. Osman can’t resist, he comments, children become rebellious when their parents separate. What separation, Aylin replies, you’re always by my side.
Eren and Cinar pull up to the courthouse. Tugce asks, did you catch him? No, Eren replies, he escaped. He knocked out Cinar and fled. Tugce shares the news of Eren’s well deserved promotion.
Back to business. Eren addresses the young’uns. So you did your own thing again. Your parents will reprimand you at home. And you, Tugce Hanım, we will talk later. Gokhan Denzi took off after he knocked Cinar out. He’s on the run and our teams are after him. He’s dangerous. Next time you do something on your own, I won’t be so nice. Eren says protection will be assigned.
Derya’s office. Eren joins the group. Ceylin places the casing on the desk and asks Yekta, what is this? A bullet casing, Yekta replies, I don’t know… what does that have to do with anything? Omer gave it to me when I exited the courtroom, she says. He said you gave it to him, and you laughed when you did it. What is this about?
Ilgaz puts it together. Wait, is this… Eren finishes that thought, the shell from the warning shot you fired at Burak before you shot him. We spent days looking for this! And then you found the bullet, Yekta reminds them. The casing vanished from the scene, Ilgaz remembers. And you had it, Ceylin adds.
All eyes on Yekta. For a moment he’s at a loss for words. Settle down, I’ll explain, he says. We were fierce enemies at the time. And nothing has changed now, Ceylin interjects. Why did you do it, Ilgaz asks. The why doesn’t matter, Yekta replies, I don’t deny it. I admit it. Yes, I did it to make you look guilty. Derya responds, you can’t play with people’s lives and get away with it.
I’d been ruined by you, Yekta growls, everything I had was gone! My reputation, my future! Everything was lost! I fought to survive! I wanted to destroy my enemies. But that was in the past. Things are different now, Yekta declares.
That’s not what Omer says, Ceylin shares, he says he’s just a pawn and you call the shots. Come on, Ceylin, Yekta replies, didn’t we work together? Didn’t we go through this together? Ilgaz asks, is this a new game? Yekta swears it isn’t. Eren doesn’t believe it. Yekta insists this is all in the past now.
Omer couldn’t have pulled this off alone, Ilgaz says. Someone far more skilled had to have been behind it. Bravo! Yekta says, you hit the nail on the head. I agree. Omer is smart but he doesn’t have far reach. How long has he been in Istanbul? What connections does he have? Someone is helping him, but it’s not me.
And we are out.
Thanks, dondi, you got a great episode and knocked it out of the park! Redemption! Of course, these writers don't let us fully enjoy it because they planted that kernel of awfulness way back when with Ceylin and the bloody knife.
So Merdan somehow got Igor whacked in prison? I guess saving his nephew overrode his path to being a better man for his family.
It was subtly said, but it seems Judge Yuksel (Papa Yuksel) took a bribe to pay for medical treatments for his wife.
Loved "Eyup's evil pose". Villains do this often as the camera lingers on their faces.
Are they on the way to redeeming Rafet? He's been VERY helpful lately.
I missed (or forgot) Ceylin calling Ozgan out on the surveillance footage evidence she'd asked for. And the judge was not best pleased.
How did Omer get his hands on that document he used to produce the fake bank transfer? Are we to suppose one can just walk into DA's offices and take things?
I was glad to see Ilgaz not letting Turgut off the hook as he stumbled through a (I thought) reluctant apology.
I was totally prepared for Cinar to be dead and gave a great sigh of relief when he walked out. That would have been a horrible blow to Ilgaz, Metin, and Defne, spoiling the big redemption.
What the hell? Omer hints that he knows some bad thing Ceylin did in college? She seemed to react. How in the hell could he find that out? Oh, right, omniscient villain...check.
Thanks again, dondi. Great episode and no good guys died.
Gracias, Dondi. Terrific recap.
I'm starting to feel sorry for Cinar again. He set a good trap for Eyup, but he couldn't hang onto to him. I was hoping he'd tie his feet and hands.
Whatever Ceylin did in college, who cares. Nobody's perfect and Ilgaz sure knows she isn't by now. Mujer, don't let Omer spook you.
I dunno, I don't think Ilgaz and Eren should kick Yekta to the curb just yet. He's a big fat liar who lies, but he's not psycho like Omer. They need him.
Joy joy joy seeing Turgut and Ozcan so uncomfortable with Ilgaz vindicated.
