I'm mad!!! I've been expecting Erika to die but they way they did it was STUPID!!!! She was actually dumb enough on go and fumigate herself??? That was suicide and cheap! Seriously??? How experienced is her most experienced employee? She can't have her employees fumigate without her? If you can't trust anyone on a vineyard to do something as simple as fumigate the crop on their own then you are in very big trouble!!! Add insult to injury, why were the mixing all those chemicals in that tiny room? The tiny office of the boss with breathing issues. In the whole vineyard, not to mention the wide-open spaces of outdoors, there's no better place to mix chemicals then that tiny closet office??? I'm disgusted, I really am!!!

So it's a good thing we have a laughing and grinning Christian de la Campa to cheer me up!!! Yes, David got his punches in and that's good for the plot and all but I enjoyed watching the gleeful amused looks on Juan's face as he mocked David throughout. There's a really good screenshot of it on the original recap. I swear if you had no context to it and you just saw the joy in that picture it would brighten your day... or maybe I'm just looking really hard for reasons to feel better...I'm not even mad that Erika is dead, just mad about the cheap and irresponsible way they did it!!! But I already knew these writers sucked, I should calm down.

Bad to Juan, I was thinking during his scenes with Perla that I've all but forgotten that there's supposed to be a huge age discrepancy between these two. They look and act the same age, but we saw in the beginning that she was a small child when Juan was already a lawyer. I got curious so I looked up the ages of the actors, according to IMDb Christian is a whole 3 1/2 years older than the actress playing Perla!!! LOL

Have I mentioned before that it's really strange the way they cast this show?? The actors and age gaps and all, there's always some of that in novelas but it's over the top on this one. It's like they just wanted to cast all these actors and they didn't care that none of them fit the script very much. Back when filming began Gabe Soto was an obvious choice, Irina had just gotten lots of attention in Pasion y Poder, Christain and Kimberly dos Ramos were starring in Tierra de Reyes which was a huge success and won lots of awards - Kim won best young actress and Christian won favorite lead actor. Then you have Cynthia Klitbo and Azela Robinson, who are Cynthia Klitbo and Azela Robinson!! What can go wrong, right?? As it turns out, you can make a big ol' mess if you have all those ingredients mixed with mismatched characters and bad writing...but you can still kill off the breathing challenged with fumigation fumes, so there's that.

It's almost Christmas, I don't wanna stay on topic, lol. I can't really think of anything except Erika to comment on anyway, it overshadowed everything. It was well acted though, both Aldolfo and Miguel were heartbreaking in their portrayals of their grief.

"VINO" HIGHLIGHTS DISCUSSION:
Darcy: RIP Erika: We all knew she was going to kick the bucket at some point, buy I wasn't expecting the fumigation to speed up her demise quickly.

Creepy Miguel & Carito will be likely endgame in all likelihood.

Now we get to anticipate Self-Hating Jackass Gutierrez & Dumbass Perla joining the Body Count very soon. Only a matter of time now: Tick-Tock!

"VINO" HIGHLIGHTS DISCUSSION:

SpanProf & Darcy: Isn't Slippery Juan also complicit in Erika's death too since he sabotaged Erika & Adolfo's vineyard ?

Vino. Great observations, Darcy. Two other things bother me about Erika's death. First, Adolfo takes forever to appear with her medicine--presumably so that there can be maximum attention to the final moving scene between Erika and Miguel. But most of all, knowing that an ailing relative, loved one, co-worker, etc. could easily have a respiratory crisis, no one seems to be trained in CPR? I would imagine that that kind of training is not hard to obtain in Sonoma, CA. And Of course the emts arrive way too late. Sure!

Vino. Steve: Definitely Juan is at least partially responsible for Erika's death. At the very least, once that is proven, her family could sue for damages, although that would hardly assuage their grief.

Okay, first things first: Why in the He%% are they having the wake/funeral, whatever it is in that tiny office closet???? It makes no sense. Forgetting for the moment that it's literally the next day and everyone shows up in black, who gathers together in the room where the person died to hang out and comfort each other??? Did they have like no budget and just one set from the whole other vineyard or something?? It's beyond weird.

I agree that Juan is responsible. I think if creating the plague is a federal offense, which it could be since the wine is shipped internationally? Anyway, if it's a federal offense than Juan could be charged with Erika's murder. I believe the law says that if someone dies during the commission of a federal crime than the criminal is responsible for their death regardless of whether or not they directly caused it. Not sure how you could define the 'commission of the crime' though, is it just during the time the crop is infected? Or does it cover the time after when the infection is being dealt with? I'm sure it doesn't matter since we are under novela law here. Either way, you're right SpanProf, they could sue for damages, but I don't know why you would storm into the Sheriff's office and declare you want to sue Juan, like David did. You need a lawyer dude, not a sheriff!

Several people (even Marta) gave Miguel some good advice for I couldn't really appreciate it because it felt so out of place. Who goes to see someone the day after their fiancée dies and gives them 'how to move on advice?' It's weird.... better suited for weeks or months later, on the day after the death you hug them, cry with them, and tell them how sorry you are for their loss. You share memories of the loved one, and you don't hang out in the tiny death room!!!

What Marta said about Marcos's death being different because they had been apart so long it sometimes felt like he was still in Mexico, is true. I felt that with my mom when she first passed, and even sometimes now. She lived in California, and I live in Kansas City, so I was used to her not being in the same physical space. At first it didn't really feel like she was gone, she just wasn't there. It's a very weird feeling and even now if I don't think about it too much, she could still be in California most of the time. But then something happens, and I really want to tell mom, and then it's very very real.

Lil was almost human in her empathy for Aldolfo and both Luci and Juan showed their heartlessness in their total disregard for her death. I think Gracie even shocked mommy with her coldness. She couldn't even fake concern or regret for Erika!!!

Where is Fern??? She's been missing for a couple days, and no comment about her whereabouts from anyone.

"VINO" HIGHLIGHTS DISCUSSION:

Darcy: I'm strongly assuming Erika's funeral was held off-screen. PS: Wasn't there many deleted scenes that Univision & Televisa didn't show when this Telenovela aired 7 years ago ? 🤔

Strongly agree with you on everyone meeting in the small cramped room, where Erika died. I was like: "Meet in the backyard outside folks".

Slippery Juan still a Slippery Jackass & Crazy Whacky Blonde getting flashbacks over how she bashed Santa Lisa's head TWICE on that fateful day.

Luciana: Fast Forward!

Carito confronting Slippery Juan was quite brave. Gut feeling he's plotting something sinister against her next week (Once Christmas ends).

Annoying Perla still annoying.

Female Pete Wilson 2.0 still a despicable jackass. I need to see her buji ass in PRISON!

Doubling-down on Creepy Miguel & Carito will be endgame now that Erika is dead & buried 6 feet under.

See y'all next Tuesday! Merry Christmas to you & your families from the Boudreaux family to yours 😊🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🇺🇸🇵🇭

Vino

Steve, the original recaps there were lots of deleted scenes but so far the daytime showing has had all the scenes the original had deleted so I don't think this broadcast is deleting anything, at least not so far.

Merry Christmas to you too!!!

Vino. Good points about the lack of verisimilitude of the setting for the wake, Darcy! It may have to do with the lack of availability of sets, as you suggest, and the stinginess of production expenditures. And gee, David and I were on the same page about holding Juan accountable for Erika's death. Will Gutierrez fully investigate or not? It doesn't bode well that he invited Juan into his office to give him a friendly heads up. I too was surprised by Lilian's empathy for Adolfo. Unlike Gracie, she seems not to be completely evil. And despite the problems of time, space and costuming of the wake, everyone seems to truly love Miguel and offer him genuine condolences--a real feeling of community. Merry Christmas to both of you as well, Darcy and Steve!

Merry Christmas SpanProf!!!
