Informative flashback from three years ago. Tamara called out her mother for her machista attitudes that allowed her brother Leandro to go where he wanted when they were young and she, as a woman, didn't have the same freedom and had to be accompanied by a "man." IMHO, it seems that in many ways, Amanda is still stuck in that machista rut.
Amanda tells the brat that she knows very well who she is and doesn't like surprises. She tells her not to call her grandma. She knows the brat is not at fault but she instructs her to leave and not come back. Amanda calls Leandro to let him know what happened. Leandro texts the brat and reads her the riot act. If her mother were to find out, she would stop them from seeing each other and it would be the brat's fault. They need to have a serious talk.
Leandro gets a call from Lorena that she has filed for divorce. If he wants to talk, she says he can talk to her lawyer. She is done with him playing the victim. He is upset that she has hired a lawyer known to be a feminist who is known for squeezing every last cent out of husbands. Leandro tells his mother and father about his impending divorce. Amanda lets him play the victim. His father has little pity for him. Lorena talks to Amanda about the divorce and Amanda sticks up for Leandro. She blames Lorena for not knowing how to deal with her husband. Lorena cannot take her anymore and leaves.
Pedro finally talks to doña Efii. She looks at the photo and recognizes Damián. He was a good kid who was there but cut out about two years ago. He paid his rent on time and she thought he was 18 not 16 due to the false ID he had. She hopes he didn't get in with the wrong people. There are so many gangs in the area. She suggests he ask around the gentrified part of the neighborhood. BTW, she also mentions Bárbara Falcón from "Vencer el desamor." Pedro wants Carmina and Pedrito to move for the time being to Mexico City so Pedrito can get the medical care he needs and he can continue to look for Damián. When Pedro gets a text from Manuela, Carmina goes nuts and tells Pedrito that his father and a woman called Manuela are lovers.
Paloma finally decides to sell the apartment much to the delight of her crooked parents. They tell her how sorry they are and then admit to each other that their contrition is all an act. It turns out that selling the apartment might no longer be an option, since Paloma is notified that the bank is ready to foreclose on the house.
Manuela has called the prosecutor who meets her, Paloma and Yaneli at the apartment so he can see how it was thrown over. Could the perpetrator be involved in Dulce's disappearance? Manuela and Paloma are both feeling guilty for not giving Dulce the time when she needed it. They talk about how the victims of feminicide just get lost in the statistics and how it could happen to any one of them. The prosecutor tells Dulce to get the locks changed because whoever was there had a key. There were no signs of forced entry. Nobody suspicious came or left. It could be another tenant. Manuela brings up the food delivery people. They all wear a cap and a hoodie of some sort. Yaneli gets nervous. The person who was following Dulce the day she disappeared was dressed like that. The prosecutor agrees and is going to take a close look at the videos. He warns them not to get their expectations up. Dulce is probably dead by now. Later, Manuela brings up the bracelet that was found on the body of the dead kid. Yaneli thinks he must have done something to Dulce and not a food delivery guy. Yaneli acts so uncomfortably around Manuela that eventually Manuela visits her at work and it comes out that nobody is mistreating Yaneli but that her brother was going out with Dulce. Yaneli saw him shaking Dulce and looking like he was going to hit her. He delivers food. She found the bracelet that she planted under the register in the store among his things at home.
Sebastian is professing his love, asking Emilia for (yet another) opportunity. Emilia, looking kind but serious, shakes her head. She asks him to try and be happy with Miriam and her son. She is gentle but firm and he finally smiles.
“Be careful” Roberta cautions as Joaquina tries to make her comfortable on the couch. They verbally spar and Roberta looks away peevishly.
Sebas and Emilia are back at work discussing Roberta the assassin. Aleida interrupts, bearing gifts; rather ridiculous balloons and flowers from Addled. A special invitation is proffered. Emilia calls Addled, thanking him for the tributes. He calls her la reina and my stomach roils. She will see him tonight at the party he is throwing in her honor. Sebas offers to accompany her but he feels she needs to go alone. Aleida shakes her head.
The soiree begins. The Met Gala it is not. 😊Addled greets the guests, smarmy and without charm as always. Roberta arrives in a black dress with sequined cuffs. This is my night she purrs to herself. Emilia is being dropped off by Danilo and Aleida..
Orlando looks handsome in a suit, standing next to Jenny (wearing something that looks like a housedress), his anxiety apparent. Jenny sweetly tells an agitated Orlando to be calm and he hugs her tightly.
Gael and Zaira have not been invited to the festivities. He is concerned she is going to spill the beans to Tigre that Victoria is Emilia. Then the worried expressions fade and they can’t contain their excitement! Emilia is alive they enthuse, smiling and grinning. Then Cayetana shows up, Zaira smiling, Gael looking unsure.
At the fete, Leo wears a turtleneck and a jacket, looking quite debonair. Sara has on a white dress with a black jacket thrown around her shoulders. Sara leaves the room as Victoria enters. Victoria has on a form fitting black dress with a plunging neckline showcasing an exquisite diamond and emerald necklace. “Buenos noches” Leo and Emilia greet each other with a kiss on the cheek as Sara looks on.
Sebas arrives home to shrieks of delight from Miriam’s son and a solemn look from Miriam. He changes his tune a bit, apologizing and telling her he cares. She hugs him but the seemingly earnest words he has uttered have failed to completely resonate as his face is fairly impassive.
Leo says this is Victoria’s night. They sit and she stares at him rather coldly as Sara watches from the shadows. Addled notices and complains to Roberta. Fidel talks to Sara but as usual, I can’t understand what he is saying.
Gigi arrives and greets Victoria; Leo tells her she looks lovely. Sara comes marching up and her phone rings. Leo looks at it and then hands it to Sara.
Marijo cries to Joaquina about Cayetana. Thankfully, Joaquina cares more than I do. Later, Gael and Cayetana walk and chat. He puts his hand on her shoulder in a goodbye gesture but she stops him, taking a selfie and then enveloping him in a tight embrace, kissing him. Moving at the speed of light, she asks him to be her novio. He looks a bit starstruck. Fool.
Diana
We see it is Danilo who called Sara. “Are you crazy” she spits into the phone. “I love you” he yells in response. Aleida is sitting there listening to the whole thing. Danilo pesters Sara until she agrees to meet with him tomorrow. Aleida does not sing Sara’s praises to Danil, enumerating all the reasons Sara is a bad idea.
Sara warns Victoria off and she and Leo leave.
Miriam has on a very sexy silky nightshirt and shorts. Sebas’ eyes are ready to pop out of his head as she kisses him on the bed.
Once home, Leo angrily turns on Sara about the flowers and the message he saw on her phone. I think he asks to see her phone (?) Sara tries to deflect with a good offense as defense saying he isn’t being respectful. She says good night and stalks off.
Addled gives a little boot licking speech. Then, it’s Victoria’s turn who gives props and a toast to Roberta, who almost imperceptibly lifts her eyebrow.
Nico unwraps a present from Victoria as Roberta slithers up. She wasn’t forgotten, Victoria sent her flowers as well.
Sara talks on the phone with her father as he gnaws on a lime. Then, Victoria comes in and Sara tells her she cares only about her marriage and her children. Huge eyeroll ensues.
The next morning, Sebas wakes up and checks his phone. He puts it down as Miriam snuggles up next to her. He thanks her and tells her she is hermosa and hugs her. Again, his words don’t quite reach his eyes.
Fidel shows Orlando his new office. How about thanking me he asks. In answer, Orlando just looks miserable. Fidel hands him a folder of papers for him to review. He sticks out his hand which Orlando doesn’t shake so Fidel slaps him on the cheek. Orlando looks troubled.
Marijo is trying to reach Gael when Cayetana comes up, bubbling away in her perpetually annoying manner. With great glee, she shows Marijo the picture of her and Gael, side by side smiling and a second one of her and Gael kissing.
Addled and Ezequiel are meeting, saying something about Sara as Addled stuffs his face. Roberta comes in and tells Ezequiel to scram. Addled tells her to control her son saying the situation between Sara and Leo is quickly deteriorating.
I can shed little light on the last scene of the evening. Victoria and Sara are talking when Leo walks in questioning what Victoria just said. Unfortunately, I did not understand what that was.
Diana
Jarifa, a wise, thoughtful, and well written summary of a disturbing episode.
You explain so much that I fail to understand which is integral to these intertwined storylines. Thank you.
I am the first to label Julieta as a brat. And far worse. But still, she is a child, however spoiled and willful. I thought Amanda was far too cold and dismissive. Yes, Julieta is her granddaughter through no fault of her own, which at least Amanda admitted. Rather than telling her to leave and not come back she could merely have said it might be best if they spoke at a later date. The hurt pooled in Julieta’s eyes was completely real and I did feel for her here.
The way Amanda is coddling Leandro has her plummeting in my estimation.
I’m a bit surprised that Leandro doesn’t really see Leona wanting to divorce him as at all upsetting; he seems rather unfazed. Does he think his sons and Julieta are going to live with him as one big, happy family?
Paloma’s parents are horrifying. I hope they end up on the street.
So good to see dona Efi!! So Damien left two years ago. How sad. Sadder still is that Pablo took Carmina’s word over that of his own son and in effect turned him out on the streets himself.
Finally, Yaneli confesses what she knows. I give her credit; it must have been hard to “give up” the only family she has in the world. Genaro will not take this well when the walls come crashing in on him, which should occur fairly soon. I think he is a creep but still feel there is someone else involved in Dulce’s disappearance. I keep wondering if it is someone we have already met.
What a strange office Leandro has, the blue wall and odd knickknacks just a few puzzling elements.
Diana
Diana: Awesome job with the recap of last night's episode. More chaos, more drama & more OMG.
Psycho Roberta slithering up behind Nico like that gives me the creeps.
Adelia knows Danillo's obsession over Crazy Whacky Blonde Sara is going to destroy the 3 Amigos' revenge plans. Big question is whether Emilia/Victoria knows about Danillo's stupidity ?
Leo sporting the turtleneck: I like turtlenecks.
Miriam will blow Emilia's cover mark my words! Either her or someone else.
Since this Telenovela is supposed to have 107 episodes, I wouldn't be shocked if Emilia's cover gets blown around the 80ish episodes range.
Thanks so much Steve.
Emilia knows Danilo is "involved" with Sara but she trusts him...I think Leo (and more so) Victoria finding out about Dan and Sara is going to bring things to a head.
Diana
Thanks, Jarifa, you fill in so many of my blank spots! I had no idea what was being said in the flashback.
I really didn’t feel sorry for Julieta, she is so bratty and always seems to get her way, or sneak behind her mother’s back. Leandro is a low life and she’s going to learn that sooner or later. So Amanda having no interest in her is a small hurt compared to what’s coming! I’m not sure Leandro really cares for her, he seems to be mostly using her to get Manuela. I also wonder if he’s had other affairs. I’m assuming he has.
I didn’t realize Paloma had decided to sell the apartment. I didn’t want her to give in to her parents. I don’t think they’re suddenly going to stop gambling. Do we know why Paloma was renting her apartment and living with them?
I feel sorry for Yaneli too. Her brother is her only family and she could end up on her own.
I was really upset that Amanda thought Manuela had sent Julieta over. I’m glad at least Lorena seems to know Manuela isn’t like Amanda seems to think. At first I thought Amanda really would be on Lorena’s side. She and Julieta are going to have a rude awakening.
Carmina is tríele horrible. Telling a little boy his dad has a lover. Pedro to needs to get well so Pedro can divorce her!
Liz
Thanks, Diana. I am limiting myself to writing one page so I am including only what I consider to be the highlights. Julieta aka the brat is being played by Sammy Schoulund. She must be dong in excellent job because I dislike her so much. That look of hurt and disappointment in her eyes after Amanda gave her the familial brush off, that you noted, was perfect. I loved doña Efi mentioning Barb!
I agree that I do not think that Genaro was responsible for Dulce's disappearance. I worry for Yaneli being left high and dry without $$ if he is arrested.
Liz, it seems, like in many of these novelas, that young people tend to live at home until they get married or have to move because of a job. Paloma had bought the apartment in a currently less than desirable area of the city as an investment. According to doña Efi, parts of the area were beginning to gentrify. Paloma's parents have been using her all the way along. I wonder what their plan is. Are they planning on Paloma paying off the house debt then getting another loan with what ever equity there is to fuel their habit? I so hope that they end up in the apartment right in the middle of Piñón de la Esperanza with doña Efy for a neighbor if we are lucky.
Thanks so much, Diana. As I can't rewind the episode in the app I watched it in, I'm not 100% sure about a couple of things.
Addled told Sara she can't make a scene because she is a political candidate and what in other people are virtues, in them areflaws and people won't forgive them. I don't know what kind of virtue jealousy and insecurity is but as it's Addled talking, it's not supposed to be reasonable. I think he told her Victoria might support her election campaignso she'd better learn to not scare off people like her. Victoria didn't come to the top by fighting with everyone. He says many women tried to come to the top but failed so Sara has to decide which one she wants to be.
Orlando is supposed to make some kind of parking space where Fidel would be able to park his trucks and load and unload his 'goods'. Orlando will be well-paid for this.
Cayetana is getting on my nerves with this whole picture demonstration. For someone who felt guilty not so long ago, she sure likes showing off she 'got the man.' She tells Gael to ask her to be his girlfriend, but he says they should get to know each other better.
Roberta isn't happy Nico got a gift and says something about Victoria meddling/interfering too much. Joaquina says 'yes, interefering so much she saved your life.' This was one of my favourite things.
Addled is told by Ezequiel that people think Sara and Leo's marriage is in shambles. Addled says it's better than ever. I think he says people will believe all kinds of things or something, to which E respondes 'even yourelection promises.' Miriam says she wants to try being with Sebas but he has to prove he won't leave. She only 'wants him to love her as much as she loves him.' Isn't that selfish? She keeps insisting he has to love her as much as she loves him, as if just by insisting she could make it happen. This feels like a repeat of what we had to suffer through when she was with Addled. I really strongly dislike her. But if they are going to have a child, this is going to be even worse. Sebas will stay for the kid. Emilia's advice to him was stupid. She told him he should be with Miriam because Miriam loves him. Hasn't she been listening? She doesn't want to be with Seb because she doesn't love him but then goes and tells him to do the exact same thing. I swear these people are on something in this town.
Saraasks Victoria to help her with Leo by talking to him. I found this very odd. Sara says she knows now that V wouldn't get involved with a married man. V says 'I wouldn't, but you would cheat on your husband.' This is what Leo overhears.
Danilo called Sara and asked her to meet because this is part of Emilia's plan. What kind of plan would that be?
A bit Ot but I wanted to thank you,Diana, for asking about my health last week. I'm now human again! The joys of being able to sit down can never be overestimated!
Last night, Univision (Chicago) covered the Our Lady of Guadalupe celebrations starting out with the events at the Our Lady of Guadalupe shrine here in DesPlaines, Illinois and then at 11:00 transitioning to live coverage from the basilica in Mexico City. There were many familiar faces as usual with Julián Gil as one of the masters of ceremony and musical performances that included Lucero, Daniela Romo and Mariana Seoane. It was a good watch.
Slight correction: Leo overhears Emilia saying that Sara doesn't trust her and only wants her to cover up her deceit. Leo comes and asks 'what deceit?'
Addled told Sara women who are weak don't reach 'the top' and are left to lick their woonds. He also said something along the lines of Victoria being with Leo shows there's harmony in the mine. I have yyet to meet people who, upon seeing a man with a woman who isn't his wife, wouldn't assume he is havingan affair with her or at least that he fancies her. Harmony indeed.
Addled threatens he won't give Roberta his municipal support if Leo's marriage ends.
Gracias, Jarifa. Super highlights.
Hurray, things are starting to move. ITA Yaneli had a lot of guts at her young age to give up Genaro. Honestly though, I wish she had confronted him first but I guess that's not realistic. If he is an ogre, he'd get violent with her too.
Is Amanda good enough for Enrique? No wonder she put up with Everardo so long. She's a machista too, at her own daughter's expense.
I wish grandma's rejection of her and her dad's dismissing her feelings would make Julieta wake up, but probably not.
Waterlily to the rescue! Thank you so much for adding so many important conversations and doing it so well. I could cut and paste your entire comment!
I loved "I don't know what kind of virtue jealousy and insecurity is but as it's Addled talking, it's not supposed to be reasonable" which had me laughing away. "Addled says it's better than ever. I think he says people will believe all kinds of things or something, to which E respondes 'even yourelection promises.'" was gold. 24K :)
"Joaquina says 'yes, interefering so much she saved your life.' This was one of my favourite things" - yes, priceless!! Perfect.
"Sara says she knows now that V wouldn't get involved with a married man. V says 'I wouldn't, but you would cheat on your husband.' This is what Leo overhears". Thank you!!! I suspect Victoria wants Leo to know Sara cheated on him, the way he cheated on Emilia. Only a guess.
I am so happy and relieved you are feeling better waterlily! Being happy to be able to merely sit down shows how terrible you felt. Am still keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
I will put something up for tonight.
Diana
Jarifa, it sounds as though the celebrations were fun to watch!
I like Julian (where has he been??) and I would have loved to have seen/heard Daniela Romo. I have a feeling "Barb" won't show up on Vencer again, but would love it if she did.
Diana
Diana, thank you so much for providing us with a recap. I am grateful for your time and talent . Water lily , thank you for adding some details . So glad that you have healed . yay.
So, have Seb and Miriam been sleeping together this whole time , or is this a new step forward for Miriam in her roping and hogtying Seb which has been her mission for a long time?
Is Dan seducing Sara part of Em's plan? Susan
Fidel is evil involving innocent Orlando in his dirty dealings .
Susan, thank you for your kind words.
You always seem to echo my thoughts. I was wondering about Miriam and Sebas as well. I thought they weren't sleeping together and did think that Sebas looked shocked when Miriam got on the bed. Or is that my gullibility talking?? :)
My thought is that Danilo may engage Sara into a few kisses but don't think he would lure her into bed to get "discovered". He seems like a decent man overall who has made mistakes; I don't think he or Emilia would want to go that route. Famous last words!!
Diana
Diana, ha...I think you and I are both pretty gullible , naive !!!
I think back to the telenovelas of the past when the galan never slept with anyone else once he fell for the leading lady. Those days are gone. Now, It's a free for all. Susan
FLASHBACK : One year ago Paloma was planning on living living in her own apartment but her parents successfully talked her into staying at home. They would miss her.
TODAY:
Paloma and her family have 24 hours to vacate the house before the bank evicts them. They move to her apartment and all her parents can do is moan and complain. Paloma asks if they would rather be out on the street. No . . . She suggests that they might be able to buy back their old house and that everything could be better if they all found jobs. She is looking. Her mother's excuse is that somebody needs to look after the house. Her father is just too nervous and upset to look for a job after going through all of this.
Franco is under pressure to win the Biogene Lab account for the company. The presentation needs a feminine touch. He goes looking for Paloma.
What to do with the knowledge that Genaro could be a suspect in Dulce's disappearance? Manuela tells Yaneli and Amanda that if they go to the police without any real evidence, Genaro could end up rotting away jail for no good reason. Amanda is upset with Yaneli thinking she only came to work at her shop to find out what she could to help her brother. She fires her and throws Manuela out with her. Yaneli tells Manuela that her brother took care of her after her parents died. He was always good to her. She knew nothing of Dulce until she saw them. She doesn't want to accuse him of anything. She is afraid that Amanda will go to the police.Manuela will consult a lawyer at work and see what they should do. Later while talking to Leandro, Amanda says she feels guilty because of the way she treated Yaneli and Manuela. Leandro thinks she should just go to the prosecutor's office and file charges against Yaneli's brother so she doesn't end up being complicit by omission. At the end of the episode, Genaro is having fun celebrating Yaneli's eighteenth birthday when she breaks down and asks him how he can be so nice to her when he was so so mean to Dulce. He tells her that it wasn't what she thought. He admits that he had a violent episode with Dulce but that he didn't do anything to her. The discussion stops there because the police are there to arrest him for the disappearance of Dulce. He doesn't know how Yaneli could have done this to him.
Pablo tells Carmina that she is confused. She insists that his friend Manuela is stealing him away from their family. Pablito asks his father if that is true. Pablo explains that his mother is upset and that is why she is saying those things. He goes for a walk with Pablito. He explains that Manuela is a special friend who is helping him look for Damián. He admits to his son that he no longer loves his mother but that will never change the way he or she feels about him and that they will always be there for him. Later that evening, Carmina apologizes for everything she said. Pablo says no need, it is all past but he does make it clear that he is only with her because of Pablito and his health problems.
Doña Efi calls Pablo with info on Damián. An Inés had sold him some herbal concoction and told her that Damián had been hanging around with a bad group of kids. She never heard about him again. Then there is Sancho Clós who had rented one of her rooms and Damián's room was right next to his. He said that every once in a while, a girl , who was the same age as Damián, would come and go. She was pretty, discrete, serious and a hard worker. Doña Efi has no idea if they were friends or something more but according to Sancho Clós, she got Damián hooked into something bad because just a short time after she appeared, the earth swallowed Damián.
Manuela, the brat and Leandro meet for supper. The brat is so happy for the three of them being together. Leandro tells Manuela about the brat visiting her grandmother and they agree that it was not the right thing to do. Leandro tells Manuela that he will be supporting the brat like he should and she reluctantly agrees. He informs her that he is also in the process of changing Julieta's name, too, and there is nothing that Manuela can really say about that either. When Manuela tells the brat it is time to leave, she answers that she isn't going anywhere unless her father takes them. Leandro is still putting the moves on Manuela. She is still rejecting him. Little does she know that Leandro has suggested that Julieta come live with him. Some how Manuela was not notified about the first meeting with the school psychologist at the school but Leandro attends with Julieta. They assure Manuela that they will notify her about the next meeting.
This was supposed tone only one page. LOL
I was drowning in dialog tonight. The harder I fought to try and understand, the more I could not grasp. Some scenes are briefly noted only so that if something important was said it could be filled in.
We begin with Sara saying she knows Victoria wouldn’t get involved with a married man. Victoria says she wouldn’t but you would cheat on your husband, just as Leo walks in (thanks Weirdo). There is no shouting, no screaming, the scene ends up with Sara leaving, Leo sitting down to sign paperwork with Victoria sitting on the desk straightening out his shirt. Sebas arrives, “am I interrupting”? “No” Victoria says and gets up to leave, Sebas and Leo staring sternly at each other.
OMG, Addled is eating once again, meeting with Roberta who seemingly gives him indigestion.
Marijo has risen to Cayetana’s bait and the two spar, Cayetana referring to Gael as her novia. Marijo is upset but Cayetana is pleased as punch.
OMG, Roberta is actually at a church, bringing toys to the orphans! What a saint! Seriously, I’m surprised she hasn’t burst into flames. She speaks with the priest who has nothing but high praise for Leo, Ignacio’s son! That of course was the wrong thing to say, and she practically bares her teeth.
Leo speaks with someone on the phone but I couldn’t translate so have no idea who it was. I mention this only as it may be important.
Marijo walks into the office, dressed for success. There are several sweet scenes, Leo very impressed with her and how grown up she is. They discuss Emilia, Victoria and of course, reminisce about Ignacio.
Sebas and Emilia are teasing each other in the mine when Tigre and a contingent of miners arrive. It seems there is good news as everyone cheers.
Patricio shows up to darken the mine further. Ramiro seems (somewhat grudgingly) to admit that Victoria has kept all her initial promises. Victoria seizes on the opportunity to dangle the chance for a better life for him and his family. After she leaves, he stares after her thoughtfully.
Nico is showing his school mates a huge bird kite that Victoria gave to him.
Fidel and Victoria are in bed, plotting and planning.
Diana
Danilo texts Sara which she pointedly ignores. The phone rings and thinking it’s Danilo, she answers angrily only to find out it’s Addled. I believe he wants her to have pictures taken for her candidacy.
Roberta comes home asking where everyone is. She pumps Joaquina for gossip about Sara and if she has noticed anything. Joaquina admits Sara and Leo are having problems and seems to point to Sara as the guilty party. Roberta, on high alert, calls Ezequiel and asks him to follow Sara.
Danilo walks into the bar where Sara is already seated. He goes over to her table, starting to lean in to kiss her and she pushes him away. He starts sweet talking her but I can’t tell you the conversation other than it isn’t going well.
Leo stands outside the mine remembering a recent conversation he had with Joaquina where she expressed a no-confidence vote regarding Sara. Then he reminisced about asking Emilia to marry him and he smiles. At that moment, Victoria walks out of the mine. They speak, she bringing up Sara immediately. He asks to speak with her later.
Back to Sara and Danilo standing this close in the bar. Either Danilo asks her about Romina again or Sara has a pang of guilt as she steps back, reflecting on the pregnancy test but she tells him nothing is wrong. She goes to leave and he pulls her back and envelopes her in a hug, kissing her.. We see the scene is being brought into focus so realize that their picture is being taken.
Victoria tells Leo she knows he has problems. Leo leaves to have some quality time alone.
Miriam is pushing her son on a tire swing in the park when Flor comes up telling her how guapo her son is.
Victoria tells Sebas something as Tigre listens, unobserved. Suddenly Sebas sees him and asks if he is all right. He clearly isn’t and he mentions Emilia.
Roberta is on the phone with Patricio, reaming him out as usual. Her phone beeps and sure enough, Ezequiel has sent her pictures of Sara and Danilo kissing. She smiles wickedly.
Victoria walks to find Leo in the woods. He wants her to tell him whatever Sara’s secret is that she agreed to keep. Leo tells Victoria the truth, his marriage is a farce. It was only after meeting Victoria that he came back to life after the pain of losing Emilia. Overcome with emotion, he says that when Emilia died, something died inside him as well. Victoria tries to stop him but he oh so gently touches her face with his hand, leaning in and sweetly kisses her cheek. Victoria’s face mirrors her suppressed passion and aching need. As Leo softly nuzzles her neck with his lips, Victoria’s countenance reflects her conflicted emotions, wanting him to stop and wanting him never to stop. His lips gently caress her, veering dangerously close to her lips…

VENCER
Jarifa, your clear, concise and intriguing recap was the perfect antidote to the frustration I felt not being able to translate so much of what transpired.
In particular, I so appreciate your explaining what was going on with Octavio and Adela’s house! When Paloma commented that “it’s complicated” that was the understatement of the evening!
So Paloma was the sole provider for not only herself but both parents. I couldn’t believe how flimsy their excuses were for not working! There was one scene where Paloma was pulling out some rather expensive looking clothes of Adela’s who seemed to try to turn it around saying she had to have some good clothes to wear around her ex-novio or something to that effect. What nerve! I am eagerly waiting to see if they were responsible for breaking up her relationships as you had wondered some time ago.
“What to do with the knowledge that Genaro could be a suspect in Dulce's disappearance?” Indeed! Yaneli had so much courage going against Genero. How is she going to support herself? I fear she hasn’t considered all of this and I really feel for her, especially as Amanda callously fired her.
Jarifa, I hadn’t understood that Leandro had already mentioned Julieta live with him (although I’m not shocked). How terrible Manuela was never notified about the meeting with the psychologist. I couldn’t believe Leandro had the nerve to ask Manuela who was texting her. MYOB!!
Hmmm. I wonder if we know the girl Dona Efi was referring to?? Things seem to be looking bleak for Damian who has now not been seen for two years. I hope I’m wrong.
Diana
Great job, Diana. I think you should give yourself more credit because you vmanaged fine without catching all the dialogue. I wish I was that good at spotting clues.
Leo seemed to be talking to a woman who must be a secretary at that other company. She is called Carmen and apparently Sara told him she hasn't sent a monthly report to Carmen, which is sent on the first week of every month. tShe claims Carmen keeps calling her about this. Carmen, hoever, says Sara told her she musn't coontact her by phone, only by message or mail.
At the beginning Leo only heard Victoria saying Sara wants her to cover up her deceit. Sara lies about what she asked Victoria not to tell to Leo. Victoria agrees she asked her not to tell the trucks that transport the miners are not working properly. Later Leo asks her what she really was asked to lie about and she tells him the truth.
Addled threatened Roberta he won't support her anymore if their kids' marriage ends. He seems to think better of it as he nearly tries to take back what he said. R says 'don't take your words back because a cowardly man is even worse.' She agrees she will give her support to Sara. Is this financial support or something else?
Later Roberta tells Fidel Addled has threatened her. Fidel, being a knight in shining armour that he is, wants to show Addled he can defend his lady love. But instead of punching him, he wants to'make him disappear'. Roberta just wants him to show Addled who's la patrona here. she also scolds him for that improvised marriage proposal because Leonardo is now 'more alert'. She apparently isn't entirely opposed to being with Fidel.
Roberta is told Victoria wants to feed the miners three times a day. Roberta says that they won't work if they aren't hungry. Apparently holding hunger over their heads like a threat is her strategy. She tells to send Victoria to her and she will tell her what is what.
Tigre remarks Sebas should be happy because he has everything he could wish for: a wife, a child, a good job. Tigre says something I always find interesting- that he would give anything to have what Sebas has. But the old 'I wish I had what you have' doesn't apply here because tigre has a wife and a child. Tigre, however, does notice Sebas isn't really happy with Miriam and tells him he can't force love because Sebas says he 'has to love Miriam'. Tigre says Sebas has to live his life and fall in love I think. Sebas can sing, though! I think I'm in love.
Miriam tells Flor she and Sebas are together for now because there's a tarantula after him. Woman, he doesn't love you! Why do women always blame other women when a man simply can be uninterested in them. I mean, Miriam would always be insecure if a woman so much as looked at Sebas, be it Victoria or someone else. But even with no women being involved, he seems unable to love her. It makes me so angry knowing that the writers will give her what she wants when she's been nothing but pushy and jealous throughout all this. So is the message that if you are stupidly stubborn, you get what you want in the end? Flor tells Miriam that Sebas has her 'very safe'. She should get a jobe to show him he has to 'look afterher/take care of her.' At first she seems to suggest prostitution, but M absolutely refuses. Then she suggests the restaurant.
Emilia tells Sebas she told Leo Sara is cheating on him. Sebas gets very angry, asking if this is how she wants to take revenge. E says she wants to do justice. Sara and Leo betrayed her and so she wants to take every opportunity to make them pay. Sebas says this isn't the way to do it.
Danilo says all these romantic things he must have found in some novel. Sara threatens to turn him in, so he says 'do it, my freedom has no point if I can't share it with you.' She says he has been warned. She has a promising future and won't give it up forun estafador. Danilo says that his fake personality is of a person he always wanted to be ,a person Sara wouldn't be ashamed of. Danilosays that if she had wanted to turn him in, she'd already have done it. Instead she helped him escape. He asks what's stopping her. Sara says nothing, that she's only looking out for herself. She also thinks 'it's time to know the truth'. What was that about?
Joaquina says something that should have made Leo think: that Sara is one of those women who think about themselves first, that if there's love, the person looks for the happiness of both and if she changes her mind, she won't do it for him. Leo seemed to think he could make Sara want to marry him. He was lucky E agreed at once. So he wanted one woman to 'change her mind' about not marrying him and didn't seem to have any trust in the one who did want to get married. What a guy.
Thanks, Jarifa, for once again filling in the blanks. I was in the dark on the telephone conversations with Dona Efi and Sancho Clos.
You got your wish on Paloma’s parents. I’m not sure but it looks like they’ll be in the living room. I hope she doesn’t give up her bedroom for them. And their excuses for not getting jobs! I’m convinced they were responsible for the two break-ups Paloma went through.
Amanda doesn’t deserve Enrique. I can’t believe I liked her! Our only hope is that he might influence her for the better. She’s been living with or around three truly awful people. Leandro telling her she could be accused of something for not sharing what she knows seemed far fetched. I really think Leandro is on an attack plan against Manuela. Now Julieta thinks she’ll get to live with him. My advice to Manuela would be to pack the kids bags!
And now we know Genero didn’t do it. I felt so sorry for him and Yaneli. And the police will stop looking for anyone. The police in telenovelas always seem to be so bad!
Liz
Diana: Spectacular job on the recap of last night's episode. Keep it up! Love to see picture screencaps soon.
Waterlily: Miriam blowing Emilia's cover in 84, 83, 82, 81.....
Waterlily, thank you for your very kind words. I so appreciate your support and relieved there were a few things I manage to get right.
Thank you for taking the time to outline everything that happened in such exquisite detail. All the marvelous details you provided were so insightful (and hilarious) in a word, perfection! You filled in every blank admirably.
Do we know what Sara's title is? If she is in charge of maintenance of the miners trucks, is she some sort of compliance officer?
"Roberta says that they won't work if they aren't hungry" makes her even lower in my estimation (if that is humanly possible)...
I'm completely mystified as to why Tigre would say "he would give anything to have what Sebas has". He had a first wife whom he loved (from all accounts), steadfast, loyal and loving Zaira and of course, Gael. I can only think he is still devastated about Emilia's death but still, what a disappointment.
"Sebas can sing, though! I think I'm in love". Me too! :) I really, really don't want Sebas to be with Miriam...I admire that he wants justice brought about the right way but sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.
I am in the dark about exactly what Emilia/Danilo's plan is regarding Sara. Roberta now has her like a rat in a trap so it will be interesting to see what she demands Sara do.
Again, thank you Waterlily. I hope every day you heal a bit more...
Diana
Thank you Steve, I so appreciate your comment.
Steve, I can barely translate let alone even think about screen shots!! :)
Glad you are watching...
Diana
Diana, I think Sara is responsible for public relations because I think I remember her updating the company's website or something. I remember she was showing it to Leo. I don't remember her having something to do with the trucks.
Steve, I kind ofhope you are right about Miriam blowing Emilia's cover. Well, I wish this would make Sebas change his mind about being with her. I suppose there's no hope of that happening. Now I'm just trying not to think about the episode where Miriam will tell him she's pregnant because it seems too much to hope that scene of them together was a coincidence.
Diana, thanks. Last night, I came to the conclusion that the novela is getting to be more complicated than I had expected. "How terrible Manuela was never notified about the meeting with the psychologist." I wonder if Leandro was behind that. It seems like something he would do. I felt sorry for Yaneli that she confided in the other women. She should have addressed the issue with her brother first. She was way too naïve but that was to be expected considering her age. She is only 18. I cannot imagine her guilt now with her only emotional/economic support all of these years gone and blaming her. If I remember correctly, Pablo was already wondering if the girl that was with his son was Dulce.
Liz, "I really think Leandro is on an attack plan against Manuela. Now Julieta thinks she’ll get to live with him. My advice to Manuela would be to pack the kids bags!" YES! Leandro probably thinks that if he can get the brat to move in with him, Manuela will follow along. Here is hoping that Manuela does just what you recommended. " Amanda doesn’t deserve Enrique." you can say that again but as you mentioned she has been involved with such terrible people in her family. I have hope for her. When the truth about what a louse Jr. her son is hits her in the face, I think she will come around and be the very nice person we know (?) she is. ; )
Diana and Waterli!y ...wowee woe. What a fantastic team you two make . I saw every moment play out in my imagination.
Shades of " Invencible " as Seb sees Vic sitting on Leo's desk straightening his tie and believes that she us only trying to seduce him for revenge ....yep... Replay of David watching Leon a spinning her web for live struck Gael. Only the names have Bern changed .
I can't see these writers changing up the traditional formula if #2 suitor ( Seb) winning the leading lady !!!!The main actress and actor always end up with the HEA in Mexican telenovelas, unlike Turkish dizis . #2 ends up with the chica who bas been pursuing him while he hopelessly pursues the leading lady. Que lastima. Why don't these writers try something different ...and I don't mea different like we got in the " Invencible " finale ...#stillannoyed
I would choose the guy who always had my back and loved me unconditionally . In real life, that is always the best choice.
Susan
Jarifa, thank you so much for another excellent recap of all the drama .
Paloma's parents are awful. At first, I interpreted them as loving And supportive from the photos I saw . wow, was that a wrong assumption . Is this storyline a PSA about controlling parents who are taking advantage of their children ?
The writers are going to have their work cut out for them if they plan to redeem judgemental Amanda and make her worthy of sweet Steve ( Esteban)
Gabe Soto may have more villain roles than Galan roles in his future.
I remember seeing a photo of the actor playing Genero with the other leads when they first started promoting this show on Uni. Then they disappeared him from those photos . Wonder why . Susan
Susan, thank you.
We've been so fortunate that Waterlily has added so, so much to the story and the discussion here. And done it so well.
"I would choose the guy who always had my back and loved me unconditionally . In real life, that is always the best choice" is sage and true advice.
I like Leo and as he does appear end game, hope the writers can make him more assertive and worthy of Emilia's character.
I will put something up for tonight.
Diana
Super job, Jarifa. You zoom in on exactly what I need to know.
I am done with Amanda. At her age, she should have some compassion for Yaneli.
I'm liking Manuela more and more. She's no dummy.
Leandro isn't capable of true love. If Manuela ever hooked up with him again, he'd treat her just like he's treating his wife.
FLASHBACK: It is six years ago and we learn that Yaneli and Génaro' s parents are now both dead. Their mother died only three months earlier and now their father is also gone. Génaro refers to his Víctor as being an ingrate having left them all behind for the USA five years earlier. Génaro sees himself as being a father to Yaneli for the time being and he assures her that she will be the first professional of the family. He will always protect her. "They say that truth justice and are above all else but what if our future or that of those we love is in play?"
The police say that they have an order for Génaro to come in for questioning in the disappearance of Dulce. Génaro evidently fears that it will turn into an arrest and makes a run for it making him look guilty even if he isn't. He is not caught. The police also want Yaneli to come in to make a statement. She talks to Manuela and Paloma about her situation. She has nobody but Génaro. They assure her they will support her and accompany her to the interview with the prosecutor and they do. Everyone wonders who called the police on Génaro. It looks like it was Leandro.
Pablo tells Manuela that he is falling in love with her. She tells him she has no time for relationships in her life now but tells her friend Vicky that she is attracted to him.
The brat would love to go and live with Leandro but her mother would never let her. He tells her that he will take care of that and that the three of them will be living together soon.
Manuela shows up at the school to find out why Leandro was notified about the meeting and not her. He wants to know who drove her to the appointment. She tells him it is none of his business. He says that the psychologist says they have to focus more on the brat like giving her a quince. Leandro will pay for the brat's quince. Manuela agrees as long as she and her family can plan it. Later, the brat looks at herself in the mirror and hates her body. She looks like she is ten years old. She knows what she is going to ask her father for as a gift for her quince.
Tamara has married a loser just like her father who cannot be bothered with picking up the kids or doing anything he would rather not be doing leaving her overwhelmed.
Franco tries to get Paloma to come back and work on the Biogenelab project. She suspects that the misogynist machista company she used to work for is having a hard time meeting the demands of Biogenelab which is run by women. He strikes out with Paloma.
Paloma's parents think it would be great if she took the job since they still have no plans to work. Paloma's former workmate asks Franco if he has an interest in Paloma beyond work.
Carmina calls her sister Nancy to have her contact the detective to see if he has found out any other info on Damián.
Pablo goes to see the prosecutor thinking that his son could somewhat be connected to the missing girl through the bracelets. The prosecutor lets him know that the bracelets are a dime a dozen and that Pablo also needs to realize that his son may not be the same person he was when he was in Guadalajara. Mexico City changes people. He could bet involved in drugs, for example. Pablo refuses to believe that. Later he goes looking for a boy who had mentioned a "love nest" to him the last time he was at the rehab center. He finds out the kid's name is "El Chiro". He goes looking for him and finds him. The kid recognizes him and runs. Pablo chases him.
Lorena brings kids over to Amanda's so they can see their father and grandfather. She leaves. Leandro tells the boys he did nothing wrong and plants doubts in their minds about their mother. She has some serious problems. He will tell them all about it little by little.
Leo and Emilia continue their “discussion” as he gently strokes her face with his hand, she covering his hand with hers. He nuzzles her neck as a battle of wills plays out on her facial expression, alternating between yes and no. Leo’s gentle kisses are a soft, sensual attack.
Addled is verbally attacking Gigi, insulting her. She pushes him and he seems to claim the women there are witnesses. He spits out quite a bit of vitriol and seems to blame her for what happened to his son. Gigi tells him to get out and the women start unwrapping yellow “caution” tape, chanting “Gigi”, “Gigi”.
Roberta interrupts the unwitting lovebirds and Victoria quietly takes her leave. Roberta, looking like the cat that swallowed the canary, shakes her head. After walking away, Victoria ruminates about the kisses; Emilia is gone and Victoria is here and Victoria doesn’t want Leo’s kisses (or so she tries to tell herself). Roberta tells Leo how many problems he and Victoria will have. What problems Leo naively asks? He reminds her that Emilia is dead. You are married with children she retorts rather contemptuously. Leo isn’t afraid to say that he is interested in Victoria. Muy bien she mocks. She brings up Sara and sort of play slaps him. She walks away as he stares morosely. …
With a friendly smile, Jennifer asks Aleida if she needs anything. Aleida kisses and hugs Orlando and Jenny smiles and leaves them to talk. Aleida takes his hands in hers saying she knows she has problems. Yes, with my father he admits. Aleida has tears in her eyes, in obvious pain, seemingly so wanting to tell him who she is! Excuse me she says, motioning to her heart, she lifts his chin with her hand but he evaporates in tears. I’m trying desperately to try to understand their conversation without success however Aleida does tell Orlando he is very intelligent and touches his heart with her hand. He kisses her hand and she asks him to forgive her and gets up with a kiss on the cheek and a hug. Thank you for everything she says and walks away exhaling and touching her heart with a smile.
The miners are having races, carrying sacks up multiple stairs. Ramiro appears to spoil the fun.
Gael pays Marijo a visit in her office. She asks if it is about his novia. My novia her asks, confused. The convo continues and she tells him to go to Cayetana. He tries to explain how Cayetana “ambushed” him with the selfie and the kiss. It doesn’t work - no te quiero she tells him. She walks away going back to her desk. Gael looks frustrated and she wears the traces of a very slight smile.
Addled goes to “Amado nervo” and asks for Andres Martinez. I am the president of the municipality he tells the school employee. Whatever security protocol is in place, it is completely ignored as Andres comes out. They have a short conversation where Addled plies him with candy. Andres is indeed a cute kid and Addled ruffles his hair. After Andres goes back inside the school, Sebas comes up and asks Addled why he is there. Much chest puffing ensues, both claiming Andres is their son. Addled insults a stern and angry Sebas. Sebas talks with the woman who let Addled in. Then, Andres comes out and Sebas asks how things went. He shows him the candy he got from Addled. He calls Sebas papa and he hugs him and I melt.
Diana
Flor brings Miriam into the restaurant who looks around uncertainly. Uh oh. Jenny comes out and angrily asks what she is doing there! Out of the frying pan into the fire. Flor is understandably confused. Miriam tells Jenny please don’t blame Flor, apologizing sincerely. When she turns to leave, Jenny calls her back. Miriam again says she doesn’t want to cause problems. Why were you with my father Jenny queries, for money? Jenny tells Miriam how much she hurt her family, especially Gigi, she and Addled were married for many years. Miriam contritely says she is sorry as Gigi comes in. After letting Miriam talk, Gigi asks her daughter to give Miriam a chance. Shockingly, Jenny does capitulate and tells Miriam to come back tomorrow.
Aleida and Victoria talk, most of which I did not understand although at one point Aleida tells her your heart thinks one thing, your head the other. At some point Aleida did bring up Sebastian. “Sebastian” Victoria repeats softly. I believe Aleida says he want another chance and Victoria says he has a family. Aleida counters with the truth, he doesn’t love Miriam (a fact which everyone seems to readily accept except for Miriam). Victoria looks thoughtful. She then admits she saw Leo.
Sebas is with the woman who let Andres see Addled and the supervisor. I think she is ready to fire her but Sebas intervenes.
Addled and Fidel, reprehensible “bros” drink and talk. I can’t follow anything Fidel says, he said something that seemed to unsettle Addled, did he threaten Gigi?
Zaira comes home and gives Tigre a kiss. (I keep thinking about Tigre telling Sebas last night that he would give anything to have what he does and shake my head in frustration, but I digress). Tigre laments about his hija Emilia, clearly suffering as Zaira tries to comfort him. Did he allude to the fact Victoria reminds him of Emilia or did I imagine that? Later he thinks back to a very young Emilia telling him she loves him and hugging him, clearly savoring that cherished memory.
Gael comes into Roberta’s kitchen much to Joaquina’s consternation. He confronts Cayetana about her showing Marijo the picture and the kiss. You are muy bonita but…She seems to say they will be friends, no problem. After he leaves it is clear that isn’t the case. She seems kind of crazy.
Roberta walks up to Sara and shows her the picture of her kissing Danilo!
Leo asks Victoria why she is there in the mine (why are you there I want to ask?) She tells him what happened was a mistake, he is a married man. Leo isn’t deterred and asks her that after he is separated from Sara, would she consider having a relationship with him?
Diana
Jarifa, a carefully crafted, perfectly relayed recap once again.
Genaro may not be guilty of Dulce’s disappearance but as flashbacks indicate he was abusive; I’ve reserved any sympathy for this situation completely for Yaneli. My heart goes out to her as the guilt she is feeling must be crushing, especially considering she feels she betrayed her only remaining family member who took care of her for years (which I have to grudgingly admit is true).
My heart goes out to Pablo. At least Damian’s trail hasn’t gone completely cold. I am hoping he and Manuela get together sooner rather than later.
While it seems certain Leandro will completely freeze Manuela out of any input into Julieta’s quince, he surely won’t give a moment’s consideration to Julieta’s wanting to have surgery, right?? As a master manipulator, he surely understands that Manuela would never, ever agree to it.
“She suspects that the misogynist machista company she used to work for is having a hard time meeting the demands of Biogenelab which is run by women. He strikes out with Paloma.” Love it! I am NOT a Franco fan.
Amanda has a lovely array of scarves and she fashions them beautifully (I say enviously as I never seem to be able to do the same and usually end up simply tying them in a knot). 😊
Diana
Thanks, Diana. It's a good thing you like Leo because you write lovely descriptions of his scenes with E. I dislike him way too much to be this generous.
Orlando says he wonders why neither of his parents cared about him. Aleida blurts out his mother didn't leave with a man. Orlando immediately asks her if she knew his mother. Aleida says no and asks him to tell her what his mother was like. He tells she was caring and gentle and once stopped his father from hitting him for tearing one of his cards. Aleida points out that this shows his mother loved him and that this is the truth because Orlando keeps repeating 'my father said...'. Aleida says she should ignore the opinions of others because he knows deep down what the truth is. I do have to wonder why Orlando is so insistent on quoting his father and never questions if his father might be lying. This reminds me of cult members parroting the doctrine they have been taught.
I feel rather satisfied that Jen finally got to tell Miriam what she has done to them. I had to laugh, though, at Miriam saying she didn't mean to cause any harm and only 'wanted to be happy.' I mean, this feels more a case of a thief being sorry they got caught than actually being sorry they did wrong because there's no way no harm would come if you get involved with a married man. Miriam must have known that but didn't care. The sad thing is that her self-esteem issues are still there. Her obsession with Sebas and the need to cling to him no matter what is no better than her desperation to stay with Addled. But for someone who claims to love Sebas, she is surprisingly selfish. I don't knowhow she helped him after Emilia died and am convinced Sebas simply needed someone to keep him company. I bet having Andres did more to help him. There's something fundamental about Miriam that doesn't seem to have changed.
Aleida and Emilia talk about their children. E asks her what she intends to do. Aleida says she will be close to her son and tell him the truth. Emilia asks, why only this? We have to expose those who did us harm and then we won't be affraid to say who we are.' Aleida doesn't believe Emilia doesn't love Leonard. I, however, wonder why she still loves him when he is more useless than a paper clip. Aleida says her head knows Leo had betrayed her but that with the heart it's more complicated. Well, maybe she should then listen to her head more. She says she did think of giving Sebas a chance. Aleida warns her she might end up with her heart broken and also ruining their plans if she keeps playing these 'seduction' games.
Addled complains to Fidel about how his wife put him in his place. Fidel says he can't believe Addled is still in this 'skirt' business. Addled says now it's the issue of kids. Fidel tells him the higher-ups want him to stop his wife from registering her party I believe because otherwise his political career is in danger. Addled promises he'll put a stop to it. Fidel says party members already call him 'Adlemuerto'. Addled says he'll be Lazerus because he'll rise from the dead. He also says Gigi will be the one who will be buried. Normally I would find it hard to take this seriously, but Gigi is no Roberta so she'd better watch out. Miriam and Gigi have awful taste in men. What kind of woman might like the way Addled talks to them? The way he talked to Victoria and about her and other women is repulsive.
Cayetana is convinced Gael will fall in love with her eventually. She should meet Mriam. They could exchange stalking/ demanding tips or something. Sara could join too.
I think at one point that teacher who let Addled see Andres says she'll see how to satisfy Sebas' request, making it seem this wasn't somehow an unreasonable thing to ask or that it's a very complicated request. Then no kid is safe at that school. She gave in to Addled's threats, then said she' record anything when Sebas asked her to record her testimony about being threatened by Addled. I know she is supposed to be desperate, but for a teacher, this is a very unappealing behaviour. I guess she is part of the majority who look out for themselves.
I kind of wished Jen hadn't given Mriam a job.
Waterlily, thank you for all of the intriguing dialog you provided with your usual warm wit. You filled in everything so well and I am so grateful!
"Cayetana is convinced Gael will fall in love with her eventually. She should meet Miriam. They could exchange stalking/ demanding tips or something. Sara could join too" was my favorite of many. Just perfect!
Orlando is filled with love for his absent mother, a little boy lost. I find his scenes with Aleida so touching and cannot wait for them to reunite.
Addled is so repulsive I find it hard to fathom how he ever ended up with Gigi. From what you noted, she seems in danger and you are right "Gigi is no Roberta".
I think Andres is a huge part of why Sebas stays with Miriam. I didn't understand that Emilia was considering giving Sebas a chance. That would be a huge mistake as she doesn't love him "that way" as she clearly told him more than once. Like Sebas trying to love Miriam, you cannot dictate how the heart feels.
It appears "the plan" is in danger for several reasons. First, Aleida might reveal who she is to Orlando too early. Leo is dangerous because Victoria may not be able to resist him. And last but not least, Danilo. Will he go rogue??
"I kind of wished Jen hadn't given Miriam a job" mirrored my thoughts as well.
Diana
Diana, you are way too nice. You did the recap. I just provided the info you said you didn't have. I'm starting to enjoy our teamwork, which is sayingsomething as I hated team/group work at school.
I got the impression Emilia meant she considered giving Seb a chance at one point. I don't think she was thinking of doing it now. How she can resist him I do not know and am rather baffled by this. A loyal, brave, caring man, who loves her child as if he were his own, a man who can sing and play the guitar...Invencible all over again. I told you all we jinxed this novela. The good thing is that they at least might give the actor playing Seb a galan role if the invencible story is repeated. I wonder if the writers saw what people said about the invencible if Daniel immediately got a galan role. So my only hope is that everyone else likes Seb as much as we do.
Dear Diana and Water lily , what a wonderful partnership you have formed. Wow. I am so grateful for these recaps as we tumble toward the finale . You do a fantastic job together !
Waterli!y, Your comment about Daniel getting a galan role was interesting . From what I have read, Juan Osorio has taken him under his wing and has a lot of respect for his acting ability. I wonder if the folks writing , producing, and appearing in these novelas have been lurking here at caraycaray which has been around for 16 (?) years recapping and commenting in the novelas.
Oswaldo was in quite a few novelas in smaller roles , but he was very good in all those parts . I hope we see more of him as a better galan than Leo.
As for the actor playing Sebas....wow. He has been consistently great from the very start . I hope we see him as a good galan soon .
I wonder why the writers suddenly decided to give the second suitor all the characteristics that the galan used to possess. Hey, give those traits back to the galan. When I first started watching novelas , the galan's competitor for the leading lady was the villain .Somewhere along the line this formula changed , and the galan's competitor was more gallant than the galan . QTH???? Susan
Question : So Flor knows Miriam. Was Miriam a prostitute before she became Addled's mistress? That might explain her desperation to hold on to Seb.
Susan
Waterlily, your help is invaluable! Yes, teamwork is funwork here!
And this: "A loyal, brave, caring man, who loves her child as if he were his own, a man who can sing and play the guitar...Invencible all over again. I told you all we jinxed this novela. The good thing is that they at least might give the actor playing Seb a galan role if the invencible story is repeated. I wonder if the writers saw what people said about the invencible if Daniel immediately got a galan role. So my only hope is that everyone else likes Seb as much as we do". Amen!!!
Diana
Susan, thank you for your kind words.
Did you see La Malquerida?? Osvaldo and Africa Zavala were a (tormented) couple and remains one of my favorites. He was wonderful there. An actor can only do so much with what they've been given and Osvaldo is trying to do that here.
"I wonder why the writers suddenly decided to give the second suitor all the characteristics that the galan used to possess. Hey, give those traits back to the galan". Yes!! Great observation and I totally agree.
I can't wait to see what happens now that Sara knows Roberta is "on" to her and Danilo!!
Diana
Gracias, Jarifa. Thanks for the reminder about Biogenelab. Paloma's old machista company surely needs her back to impress Biogenelab.
I have no use for Paloma's parents. Paloma, please force them to take jobs. Their laziness is boring.
So Leandro will throw his daughter a fab quince, without informing his wife and sons? This I gotta see.
Genaro is kind of beefy, so I'm surprised he had the speed to elude several officers. Anyhoo, why did he run away from simple questioning? Where does he plan to hide? It looks like Yaneli will be better off in foster care, or would Manuela take her in.
Niecie: I noticed this telenovela starring Fernando Colunga & Marlene Favela debuted on Las Estrellas on November 13th. When can we expect this to debut on Univision ?
Diana: So Psycho Roberta figured out Crazy Whacky Blonde Sara has been having an affair with Danillo. But will she use the photograph to blackmail or threaten her ? I'm assuming Lazy Leo still doesn't know ?
Waterlily: Jenny is downright ANNOYING. What's up with her hostility towards Miriam ?
Diana, that is the conundrum. Génaro was devoted to raising his sister and did an admirable job from what we have seen but then he was an abuser in the case of Dulce. I wonder why the older brother is so distant with his siblings. Julieta's body dysmorphia could turn out to be a decent PSA. I have a nice collection of beautiful scarves but they sit in a drawer and look at me. I have never gotten the knack of how to wear them. How long until something can be labeled an antique? LOL
Niecie, I think that Génaro , not knowing exactly what was said about him, was afraid he would be arrested during questioning and end up in jail on the circumstantial evidence they could say they had. Guilty or not guilty, he didn’t want to take the chance. For the most part, characters in novelas do not have a lot of confidence in the police or the law. Dulce turned 18 the morning the police came calling for Génaro as they were celebrating her birthday. Now an adult, that put even more pressure on her to go and make a statement at the prosecutor’s office. Suddenly turning 18, doesn’t make her financial situation any better. Great idea about Manuela taking her in. I think Angeles and the uncles would welcome and nurture her.
It just occurred to me that when Jenifer said Mriam took Addled away from her mother. Gigi said she didnt and that their marriage has long been not a marriage at all. This is too much for me. So Miriam is freed of all responsibility for her actions because the marriage was already in shambles? I'm all for making men responsible for the stuff they do, but Miriam is no innocent victim here. Does sorority now mean giving your husband's mistress more chances than a cat has lives? I dislike this attitude of 'oh it was already over.' I find it humiliating and wouldn't have said anything like this if I were Gigi. It's annoying that she was unable to clear Emilia's name, a thing which would have counted for something, and yet tells her daughter that she should employ Miriam because 'she did nothing wrong.'. Whoever wrote the script for this had some weird ideas.
Jarifa, thanks for providing us with another report on all the comings and goings .
I am sure that Genero isnt the one who made Dulce disappear. I think he is a red herring in this tale .
So many men behaving badly here. I have seen it happening in places I have worked , but luckily I have been surrounded by good men in my life. Maybe that is why toxic males in these shows are so upsetting to me. We do have good souls Pablo and Enrique , the Golden Bachelor . Maybe Genero will turn out to be a good guy , but I have no hope for arrogant Leondro reforming . He grew up with a nasty , chauvinistic father.Hard to teach old dogs new tricks as they say.
P.s. Jarifa and Diana, I, too, have a lot of scarves , and I recently bought two new ones .Love the different colors and patterns . Some scarves look like works of art , and I have always loved art and museums. Susan
Thanks once again Jarifa, you do an amazing job on retelling all that happened. I’m afraid Manuela is going to end up in the apartment with Leandro andJulieta. He seems very confident so he must be planning something. It looks like he plans to have all three of his kids! I was surprised he turned Género in. I was sure it was Amanda. She needs to face reality and get on the right side.
I wonder when Paloma will have her full of the parents. I feel like she’s starting to realize what they’re like. Since I’m sure they sabatoged her relationships I’m waiting for her to discover it.
Poor Yaneli. And her brother won’t answer her calls. Maybe Amanda will give her her job back.
Liz
Jarifa, I hadn't realized Yaneli turned 18. So sad she's lost Genaro just as she becomes an adult.
No idea what will happen next, but I hope we get to see Genaro and Yaneli make up. These siblings care about each other.
Susan, if Génaro isn’t the one who disappeared Dulce, who did? Is it somebody we already know? Dulce had something to tell Génaro if they were going to be in a serous relationship, what was it? I wonder if Dulce is still alive.
Liz, I cannot wait to hear Leandro’s reasoning for calling the police on Génaro. It looked like when he didn’t answer Amanda, she will be expecting an explanation even though he earlier said he didn’t like her involved in such an unsavory situation in relationship to Dulce. At this point, I feel bad for Yaneli the most.
"Miriam is no innocent victim here" is exactly right; I totally concur waterlily!
I will put something together for tonight.
Diana
Looks like no Vencer, two hours of Mujer and then Futbol. No Minas!
That was a quick change, I had checked a few hours ago and Comcast had all 3 TNs airing as usual.
Diana
Gracias for the recaps.
I agree that Genaro is probably a red herring but that doesn't make his abuse of Dulce any less repulsive. Yaneli is right to be afraid of him because he can turn on a dime. He is obviously involved in something shady or he wouldn't even mention loan sharks. She needs help and Manuela is in the best position to provide that.
I am most concerned about Paloma. She was used by her shiftless parents for years. She needs to ditch them now or she will lose more, if that's possible now.
It's possible that the farther away she gets from her ex Amanda will be victimized by someone else.
Will we soon see Renata and Fabiola of Biogen? I knew Franco would blow that presentation.
