VENCER LA CULPA #28

FLASHBACK Fifteen years ago, Manuela has her first sexual experience with Leandro.

Manuela moves into Leandro's. No, she will not be sleeping in the brat's room or with him. She has the guest room. She repeats that she is only there for her daughter's sake. He says that he wants them to get along as well as they can so the brat can see that they have a cordial and respectful relationship. The brat thinks that Manuela is gong to give Leandro another chance so this is the only chance that they have to show her that he and she can get along without being a couple. That being said he wants them to appear as if they are trying to give her what she wants. She is taken aback that he would have her pretend that she has romantic feelings for him.

Manuela has made it clear to Leandro that she doesn't want her own office space to practice. That doesn't stop Leandro and the brat. They take her to her new office. She makes it clear she didn't want it. Leandro says it was the brat's idea. The brat throws a tantrum.

Later, Everardo brings up the topic of Leandro running a DNA test on the brat. His opinion is you never know . . . Leandro sees no need. He is also confident that even though Manuela isn't in his bed now, he will get her there soon enough.

It looks like Pablo is still on a wild goose chase to find the woman with the questionable reputation who supposedly knew his son Damián. Carmina is going to see if she can help. Pablo gets a text from El Chiro to meet him. He heard that the prosecutor's office was out to question Brayan's uncle. He thinks that that the prosecutor was interested in finding out if Brayan had more relatives. Pablo concludes that he must also be interested in finding out who claimed Brayan's body.

Pablito's doctor will no longer be available to him, so Carmina is giving Pablo a list of nephrologists. She has "her" doctor included in the list. Nancy asks how she is going to make sure that Pablo chooses that doctor. Carmina doesn't know but will think of something. Nancy hopes that her scheme will not put her son's health at risk. Carmina is shocked she would think that. Carmina, also, suspects that Manuela is no longer seeing Pablo.

Paloma has a very hard time with her parents who insists on talking about Walter from Argentina as they eat Argentinian empanadas with Franco. They think that Franco is only a friend until Paloma shocks them by announcing that Franco is her novio. Her parents are disturbed to say the least. They start counting how many novios she has already had. After Franco leaves, Paloma reads her parents the riot act but they cannot see that they did anything wrong. They try to plant doubts about Franco and about her. They feel like something is wrong with him. Her father says the problem isn't Franco but is HER. She doesn't know how to pick the right man. As for Franco, he will have to win them over if they want to marry their princess. Suddenly, Franco is having his doubts about Paloma suggesting that maybe she falls in love too quickly. Paloma talks to Manuela who tells her that the responsibility of a relationship falls on both partners. She goes to see Franco only to find out that he left. She thinks he moved out. Franco appears and says he didn't ghost her. He went out to get her flowers. He apologizes.

We see Walter at a café looking at a picture of him and Paloma and crying.

Obregón reminds Franco that after the final corrections are made to the Biogenlab campaign, he is firing him. Franco says fine, he is leaving now because as far as he is concerned, he has been fired. It looks like he and Obregón are going to continue to talk.

VENCER Part 2

Axel shows up at the pet shop with his cat Nosferatu (you gotta love it) (he does have a pet after all!) to see Yaneli and to suggest they go see a horror movie together.

In order to help Amanda and her pet shop, Enrique buys as many things as he can. Then, he offers her a loan. She won't accept it. He finally offers to be partners with her. We don't know what her answer was.

Yaneli is visited by her teacher at her house. He starts to force himself on her since he knows that she lives alone.

MINAS #78 Part 1

It’s not going to be easy Leo tells Victoria. Victoria demurs that the children are too young but as he moves closer to her, Sebas comes into view. She pulls away from him and says (rather unconvincingly) that there is another reason she doesn’t want him to get divorced. She is with Sebas! Caught unaware, Leo asks Victoria if it's true. She stares without expression.

Addled and Fidel are eating, the former exhibiting atrocious table manners, talking with his mouth full. Fidel seems intent on being with Victoria. She is rich, good looking, young Addled tells him. Addled tells him Orlando and Jenny are having a baby and shows him a newspaper article on Victoria.

Gael comes home looking like a beaten-up Frankenstein. He tells a very upset Zaira Roberta was behind it.

It’s true Victoria tells Leo. Leo flashes back to a similar scene he had with Emilia telling him the same thing as she put Sebas’ arm purposely around her shoulders. I believe she reminds Leo (again) he is married.

Avenging angel Zaira shows up at Roberta’s demanding she come out. Joaquina’s attempts to calm her down are futile and Roberta finally appears.

Sebas moves over to Victoria’s side and puts his arm around her. With her always impeccable timing, Sara enters and says hola. She starts laughing and pointing, muttering it’s not important. Congratulations she manages to get out. Vic makes some snide comment about what is most important in a relationship. Victoria and Sebas leaves. Sara seems contemptuous and says Victoria is loco.

“Largate mi casa” Roberta snarls. Don’t touch me Zaira screams. Roberta calls her ridiculous and stupid among other insults. Zaira stares, lifts her arm and summoning every ounce of strength, slaps Roberta hard. Joaquina begs her to stop. Roberta grabs Zaira and they physically tussle, stopping only when Marijo and Nico arrive and break it up. Are you all right a worried Nico asks Zaira?? Yes, mi amor she replies. Joaquina implores Zaira to leave, which she does but manages to call Roberta an assassin before doing so. Marijo asks Roberta what she did to Gael.

Orlando and Jenny are nuzzling each other at a restaurant table. Fidel comes in proffering a bottle of wine and congratulations. They look surprised and he admits Addled shared the good news. Orlando looks unsettled but Fidel is undeterred and gives Jenny a hug.

Victoria and Sebas fill Aleida in.

Nico tells Sara and Leo that there was a horrible scene between Zaira and Roberta. Sara acts like the caring madrastra that she isn’t, soothing him, stroking his hair, hugging him. Leo stares inscrutably.

Miriam and Flor talk as a drunk Addled interrupts sending her away. He asks Flor why she is there. I need the money she answers which he disputes.

Diana

MINAS #78 Part 2 of 2

Zaira arrives home to find Tigre making some sort of Rocky Balboa hideous raw egg confection. Marijo arrives to find a very cleaned up Gael. She feels responsible of course but it’s not your fault Gael tells Marijo despite her protestations. Tigre is almost in tears worried about the consequences and thinks Gael and Marijo should break up. When Zaira and Tigre leave the room, the young lovebirds seem to be steadfast in their feelings. I love you Gael says; They kiss and vow not to separate.

Orlando asks Miriam if she is all right and a drunken Addled arrives to put his arm around her. Ack.

Where is Danilo Emilia asks. Aleida tells her about Romina being Danilo’s daughter.

Sebas is very sweet as he asks Emilia if she is sure about giving their relationship a try, She says yes and they gently kiss. He looks thrilled and she smiles rather happily. He strokes her cheek tenderly. She thanks him for loving her. Next, there is a flicker of hope. And promise. They get up and he very softly and sweetly sings to her and they dance. He spins her around so her back is to her chest. She turns and looks at him and he sings into her neck. A lovely, romantic moment.

Roberta and Joaquina argue, Joaquina pleading Gael’s case; they are in love. Roberta doesn’t want to hear any of it; Leo is in the hall approaching the door, listening. You are alone Joaquina tells Roberta. Leo enters asking what is going on. Roberta stares coldly.

Danilo is looking down in the dumps as Aleida asks what’s wrong, giving him a hug. Naturally, it’s Sara. He rues the loss of Sara, the mother of his hija. Aleida can only commiserate..

Leo enters the room and asks Roberta to tell him what is going on. Roberta hems and haws… This was a long scene and much was said most of which I could not follow. Joaquina came in and said something about pictures. Leo did say that Roberta is obsessed with Emilia (true enough). The most bitter words seemed to be about Mauricio. Roberta seems to loathe the fact Leo does not have her on a pedestal as Mauricio did. Leo said that Mauricio was an alcoholic, which made Roberta even more livid. There was a quick flash to a framed picture of Roberta and Mauricio. I believe Roberta spit out something to the effect that Mauricio was her only son and rejects Leo in the cruelest way possible. Joaquina finally comes back in holding a phone out telling Roberta she HAD to take the call (something about Nico). Although Roberta was furious at her interrupting, she did take the phone and leave the room. Leo ends up telling Joaquina something to the effect that she is his real mother.

Emilia is praying to the Virgin as we see several scenes in real time: Zaira putting Tigre into bed; Marijo and Gael smiling thinking about the other; Jenny’s luminous glow as Orlando shows her a crib he got for their baby; a sad Joaquina and Nico.

The next morning, Leo asks Nico what’s wrong but he flounces off.

Victoria and Sebas go to Ezequiel’s office who tells her she is being charged with intoxicating the miners. He brings in several prisoners to confirm she hired them to beat up the miners. Fidel comes in and asks how Victoria spoke with the prisoners. By telephone is the answer. Fidel then tells an upset Ezeq to take Victoria’s cuffs off.

Joaquina tells Leo how hard things are for Nico and said something else I didn’t get. I believe the last scene ends when Leo asks Joaquina for the truth. Este bien she says. If there was more to this, kindly fill in.

VENCER

Jarifa, so many of these episodes are hazy for me. Thank you for always enlightening me in such splendid style.

Fingers crossed someone shows up to thwart Edgar. Poor Yaneli!

The DNA test is brought up. Again. Is it much ado about nothing? It’s come up so often I’m starting to wonder.

I had hoped Pablo would try and strike out on his own to find Damian. Carmina has him going in circles. I’m curious as to how she is going to manipulate the list of doctors so Pablo settles on her choice but I’m very afraid she will succeed.

My heart went out to Paloma when she thought Franco had left! And in a way, I can’t blame him for questioning that Paloma has had several recent relationships that didn’t work out. Her parents planting that seed are despicable. Perhaps Walter is having guilty second thoughts??

Manuela allowed herself to be manipulated into living in the apartment. Did she really think the goading was going to end there?? The office shouldn’t have been a surprise. Capitulate once and it will be expected. She needs to pack her bag and leave her loathsome child with Leandro.

Loved “Axel shows up at the pet shop with his cat Nosferatu (you gotta love it) (he does have a pet after all!)” which made me smile. Enrique is such a sweetheart, I hope she partners with him.

Loved Amanda’s beautiful orange and violet flowered scarf. Carmina in her pink and white…

Diana

VENCER

Thanks, Diana. “Capitulate once and it will be expected.” So true. Time for Manuela to wake up and put her thinking cap on. I find her exasperating. As for Paloma’s parents, they were even worse than I had imagined blaming her for falling victim to their scheme. I hope we have a confrontation with Walter soon so we know exactly what they told him. Any who, last night I enjoyed Enrique the most holding his line with his leech of a son and doing anything he could to support Amanda. He is smitten and I like that he not only acts like it but looks like it with his puppy dog eyes.

Time to hit the road. More later.

"MINAS" EPISODE#78:

Diana: Hoping you're enjoying your Christmas holiday break. Good job on the recap of last night's episode.

Psycho Fidel giving Jenny a hug scares the shit out of me. He's plotting something sinister here.

Gut feeling Joaquina has some dirty little secrets. Just saying!

Minas

Diana, thank you so much for providing us with an excellent recap during this busy holiday season .

Well, I am not buying Em\Vic actually sticking with hopelessly devoted , faithful , adorable Seb. Remember Leona marrying Gael in Invencible and us hoping she would fall in love with him and stay with him?
Yeah....no. Uff .

Exactly how does smarmy Fidel expect to get Vic? He certainly dropped Rob like a hot potato. Susan

MINAS

Thank you Steve!

Susan, I appreciate your kind words. I hope you are having a wonderful holiday.

Like you, I don't think Sebas has a chance with Victoria.

Fidel's outsize ego is astonishing, isn't it? His wanting Victoria will likely escalate Roberta's plans to get rid of her.

Diana

Vencer

Gracias, Jarifa. Terrific recap of stuff that is driving me crazy.

Paloma's parents, just awful trying to make her doubt herself. I'm wondering if they have a standard method of getting rid of each guy (like "Paloma has a genetic timebomb that will explode when she hits 31!") or if they customize it.

Enrique is so sweet to offer to partner with Amanda. Amanda, say yes! His kids will go ballistic.

Yaneli's suitor is a keeper too.

I know everybody (rightfully) hates Genero, but I wonder where he's hiding out.

Pablo, I'd hate to see you dumb enough to go with Carmina's doc when most folks would go to their GP for proper references.

Vencer

Thanks, Jarifa, that was great. But I’m getting really frustrated with some of these characters.

Manuela needs to move out immediately. Leandro and the brat are busy manipulating her. Does she really want to ruin her life to please her daughter. There’s other characters in this show that are doing what they don’t want to do because their kids are guilting them(or an ex wife). Good for Enrique for standing up to his son!

I think Carmina will risk her son to get Pablo back. I hope he stays firm.

Paloma’s parents are awful. I want her to find out what they’ve been doing and then kick them out.

I hope someone can rescue Yaneli from that teacher. And I hope it’s someone that can beat him up or get him fired.

Liz

Minas

Thanks so much, Diana, for your amazing -as always- recap!

I, too, think that Emilia will not end up together with Sebas. The writers are playing tricks on us just like in Invencible. The two novelas are so similar I'll check if they have any common writers or something. Maybe that'd explain it.

If you're not going to make Leo tell Victoria he knows she's Emilia, get a chance to hear her part of the whole story and team up with her to start the maldita venganza, what's the point of writing the scene in which he said it out loud?

Are we going to get a plot twist any time soon? I was re-reading some recaps and I noticed that I wrote it would be a nice plot twist if Joaquina was Leo's mother. After reading the recap and the part about Roberta saying Mau was her only son, I have some hope.

I feel like some characters (see Míriam) exist mainly in order for everyone to have a partner at the end.

Someone make Sara shut it. Please.

Since they followed a different time line than in La Patrona, I think they should have made less episodes. I'll agree with Diana, IIRC, when she said it would be best of the episodes are 80.

Minas

Thanks Diana, I enjoyed reading your recap. We got to see Sebas and Victoria together. But it won’t last and Sebas will be broken hearted. When you have to pray to love one man and stop loving another it doesn’t look promising.

I’m wondering if Fidel will decide to go after Roberta and Victoria will date him for information. Although it would be hard to trust him. Maybe being a grandfather will change him. If not Orlando and family need to move far away.

Danilo needs to put his personal life on a back burner and get back with the team. He should realize exactly what Sara is like now.

I wonder if Joaquina will tell him the truth tonight?

Liz

MINAS

Thanks so much for your kind words Weirdo...

"If you're not going to make Leo tell Victoria he knows she's Emilia, get a chance to hear her part of the whole story and team up with her to start the maldita venganza, what's the point of writing the scene in which he said it out loud?" From your lips to the writers ears! This is sticking in my craw and is a tantalizing loose end.

Interesting theory about Leo being Joaquina's. Like you I would breathe a sigh of relief. My only hesitation is to how she could have stood by all these years having him suffer Roberta's abuse.

I have an uneasy feeling about several plotines going forward but I will keep them to myself.

I will put something up tonight.

Diana

Minas + Minas Recapping

Good point about Joaquina not allowing Roberta to abuse Leo like this if he was hers, Diana.

"I have an uneasy feeling about several plotines going forward but I will keep them to myself." I know that feeling. I'm also unsure about many things but I'll wait to see how some plot lines go to express some thoughts of mine...

I can do Thursday and Friday this week.

OT...Just saw that Daniel Embittar has been nominated for an award as best coprotaganisto for " Invencible ."I suppose Danilo was also nominated !!!
Susan

Minas
Thanks so much,Diana.
Fidel told Addled that he (Addled) isn't at Victoria's level when Addled tells him he is interested in Victoria too and so it's not fair of Fidel to want her for himself. I once read in a novel that precisely those men you aren't interested in think you must be. These two prove this is true. Addled tells Fidel he has to be Victoria's hero in order to win her affections.
Leo comes across as rather selfish when he tells Victoria 'you know what my situation is like' when she reminds him he is married. I mean, does he expect her to wait till he manages to get divorced? I even wonder if he would manage it as Sara would only have to threaten him she'd take Romina with her for Leo to capitulate immediately. I also can't decide if it's self-confidence or arrogance to say 'you don't love him'. How can he be so sure? There was something about Leo in that scene that reminded me of Sara. She too has this attitude of 'you can't be with that person'. Sara says Victoria is crazy when she says she will get to the bottom of this poisoning business. Leo actually asks Sara if Victoria has any reason to suspect her.
When Miriam argues with Addled about her working at the bar, she tells him he should go to look after his family because his wife' is very free in politics'. I suppose this was just to annoy him, but it somehow feels she almost uses Gigi to insult him. There was something in her tone I didn't like. Maybe it's because it's one woman using another woman's achievement as a way to insult.
Emilia finally said something I keep repeating: that Leo was never unconditionally with her. Sebas did ask her if now that she knows Leo doesn't have a daughter with Sara, she might change her mind about not being with him. I am more and more baffled by this love triangle. They aren't even trying to redeem Leo.
I feel so sorry for Sebas. I don't want his hopes to be dashed along with my own. I'm in a foul mood today so that scene somehow made me even sadder. I suppose we could say this telenovela reflects at least one true aspect of life: good people get far more suffering through no fault of their own. Sebas doesn't deserve to get a chance just to have it taken away.

Minas
Fidel apparently also thinks that him 'getting' Victoria will show Roberta someone else wants him. I knew the man won't just give up on herwithout trying something like this.
Joaquina said Roberta took everything from her. roberta said she herself didn't know how to keep it because she's an idiot.
Danilo now isn't interested in the mission because he doesn't want to cause harm to a woman he loves, her daughter and (surprise) her father. It's funny how women are always supposed to pull themselves together in such situations and Danilo is being miserable. I get how he is feeling, but it also shows how easy it was for him to join the mission when,as he himself says, he 'had nothing to lose.' He picks Sara over Emilia. The sad thing is that Sara wouldn't pick anyone over herself. I imagine they'll forgive him, but I'm angry now.
Joaquina tells that Roberta threw away some old photos andletters because Roberta says she took some 'baratijas' (cheap things) from her.
Diana, you got the important parts of that long conversation. Leo asks her why she harmed a family that hasn't done anything to her. Roberta talks about how they must hate her and find ways to harm her, which include (and probably aren't limited to) seducing ZMarijo. Roberta says Leo is a stranger to her. She is a victim whom he doesn't appreciate and love enough and everyone sees her as an enemy. Joaquina actually tells Leo he is used to Roberta's outbursts and so shouldn't pay attention to them. Really? That's so insensitive. It's interesting how inconsiderate people become when they have something to hide.

OT - New TN

Last night during Vencer, Uni advertised "Tu Vida es Mi Vida" with Susana González as coming in January (I forgot the exact premiere date) airing at 8 EDT. From the clip, Susana's character gets devastating health news and decides to live to the hilt. Since it'll air at 8, I wonder if Vencer's time is moving.

O/T

I think Vencer will move to 9PM. Mujer is currently at ep 43 of season 2, which originally had 70 episodes.

BTW I tried watching this despite not having seen the first set of episodes. Good production values but the downbeat story got to me and I stopped watching after seeing the spoilers on Wikipedia.

MINAS RECAPPING

Weirdo, thank you so much for offering to do Thursday and Friday.

I have a lot going on so that will definitely help.

Diana

MINAS

"When you have to pray to love one man and stop loving another it doesn’t look promising" had me laughing away Liz. What a great comment!!

I fear Danilo is hooked on Sara (although with everything that's come out it's hard to fathom why). His loyalty is likely to be sorely tested knowing Romina is his daughter.

I also wonder what Joaquina will have to say but more so if I'll be able to understand any of it! :)

Diana

MINAS

Waterlily, thank you for adding so many important details; I savored every single comment. You always capture everything perfectly.

"Emilia finally said something I keep repeating: that Leo was never unconditionally with her. Sebas did ask her if now that she knows Leo doesn't have a daughter with Sara, she might change her mind about not being with him". Thank you, I handn't understood that and am glad/relieved Emilia realizes Leo was never with- her 100%. There is no doubt Sebas is and will always be.

And you're right. Sara will use Romi like a poker chip, bargaining/threatening to take her away from Leo.

OMG, Addled wants Victoria too? Ack. The egos here are hard to fathom.

Miriam wasn't very endearing last night. The best thing about her is Andres.

Again, thank you for clearing up so much for me!

Diana

OT/New TN

The new TN is scheduled to begin on January 15th at 8 ET according to what aired last night.

Starting next week, Comcast has Vencer airing from 7-9 Eastern (at least in my neck of the woods). I have no idea what they are thinking...

Diana

Minas

Waterli!y, thanks for the additional info . I have been thinking since almost the beginning that Jo is Rob's sister , the little girl in the family's hovel who wasnt sent out to work the streets . I also think Leo is actually Jo's biological son.
Susan

VENCER

Niecie, Genaro was arrested a while back for Dulce's disappearance. They found his blood at her place. So, he is currently rotting away in jail as they wait to find a corpse or decide to try him on circumstantial evidence.

Liz, "I think Carmina will risk her son to get Pablo back." It would to surprise me at all.

OT

Yes, according to Zap2it starting on New Year’s Day, Vencer is being relegated to double episodes from 6-8 central time (my time) aka “let’s get this over ASAP”. Nothing like double episodes to ruin a novela but hey, there is always a rush to move out the not quite old to move in the new!!! : (

VENCER LA CULPA #29

FLASHBACK 16 years ago when Manuela was so taken with Leandro being the love of her life, her mother warned her to be cautious.

The brat finally listens, at her father's request, to Manuela's explanation of why she doesn't want an office right now. It all comes down to having a set job so she can spend more time for her. Manuela is shocked when Lorena shows up with her two sons to surprise their father with a visit. He is not there. Manuela tries to explain she is only living with Leandro because he wanted to take her daughter away from her via lawsuit. Lorena isn't buying it and accuses her of wanting Leandro after all. The brat and her half-brothers get along well. Everardo wants everyone to come over to his house for supper sometime the next weekend.

Edgar's (the lecherous teacher) advances are quickly stopped when Yaneli's friend shows up at her house. She wonders what he is doing there. Yaneli says he was stopping by for some work she did to help her get her scholarship back. After he leaves with the work, Yaneli tells her how she started the whole mess by flirting with him. Later, Edgardo tells her that he is rejecting what she gave to him.

Franco tells Paloma that Obregón is insisting that they work in the office. She sees Obregón as a control freak who thinks that you can only work if you are in an office but agrees anyway. Obregón catches them kissing but says nothing.

Paloma's parents are running low on funds and there is hardly anything left to pawn but they decide to go to the casino anyway. Paloma calls them out on their rude treatment of Franco. They agree to apologize the next time they see him. They are a team of THREE!!! They try to be "nice" and add Franco, so they are a team of FOUR!!! Poor Paloma believes them.

Carmina is still trying to get back with Pablo. He is not interested. She even tells him she never should have been like she was with Damián and if they ever find him, she wants to apologize. Pablo takes full responsibility because he was the one who threw him out of the house.

Pablo and his lawyer/friend Jorge decided to go see the woman at the beauty salon to see if she can give them any more info on the woman Damián was supposedly friendly with. When they are arrive, they are surprised to see the prosecutor is there talking to her.

When going through case files with Vicky, Manuela runs into the file for the rape victim Andrea Salcedo that Leandro had escorted to the center the day that she ran into him. Vicky asks if they have heard anything about her. It seems that nobody followed up on the case. Manuela thought somebody else would have. She decides she will investigate it.

Amanda tells Lorena that she supports her and not Manuela.

Amanda agrees to go into business with Enrique. The new pet shop will be operating out of port of his house. She assures Yaneli she will always have job with her. She tells Enrique that she wants it all legal with signed contracts and it to be separate from their friendship. Enrique readily agrees and is surprised when Amanda introduces him as her novio to her daughter Tamara.

Yaneli goes to the prosecutor's office to find out who her brother's lawyer is. He tells her to ask her brother. They don't have time to look up that information. Well, somebody must have done something because later Yaneli gets a call from her brother's lawyer Jorge Cruz saying that her brother can see her today. She goes to see Genaro and he goes on a tirade telling her she needs to forget about Dulce and him. He is not the only one in danger. If she keeps sticking her nose in things that are not her business, terrible things could happen to her. She could be "disappeared", too.

"Expecting things from others can feed the soul but also can leave us deeply disappointed."

MINAS #79 Part 1

Tonight’s dialog was far too fast and furious for me. The scenes were short, choppy, and disjointed making trying to translate even more difficult. I did the best I could; please fill in what I missed or correct what I got wrong.

We are back at the police station where Fidel has ensconced himself behind the desk, clearly in charge of seemingly trying to sort everything out.

Leo wants Joaquina to tell her what the secret is. Esta bien she states, nodding with a sense of finality.

Addled holds a Sara Quintana poster, Sara declaring herself a real and modern woman. Gigi comes up and Addled unfurls the poster, with a war of words breaking out. “Si senora presidenta” Addled salutes as Gigi puckers her lips.

Sara leaves her parents’ house only to have Danilo jump out at her from behind a hedge scaring the daylights out of her. Oh but Addled is right behind her and stares at Danilo.

Joaquina and Leo continue their scene. Was anything important/worthwhile said here? Joaquina mutters something about Roberta and she gets teary eyed. They both look upset and he gets up and leaves. After, Joaquina says something to herself that I couldn’t make out.

Gael and Tigre are in the mine where the traitorous miner starts to cause problems. Tigre has to hold Gael back.

Fidel seems to apologize to Victoria for Ezequiel’s ineptness. She seems grateful for his help, thanking him warmly, telling him she is available should he need her assistance. She puts out her hand which he kisses, looking quite charmed. Victoria leaves, Fidel staring after her, somewhat smitten. This is not lost on Sebas who coldly says “permiso” and leaves.

Sara introduces Danilo to Addled as “Benito Guzman”, part of Victoria’s team. Addled seems to buy it. After he leaves, Danilo grabs Sara as she tells him to leave her alone. He begs, he bleats, he pleads.

Roberta is visiting some of the miners and their families in the hospital where badmouthing of Victoria ensues, angry murmurs and those in attendance crossing themselves. Victoria says an investigation of the intoxication is proceeding.

In the hospital lobby, Gigi is giving a speech when Sara comes in and disrupts everything.

Diana

MINAS #79 Part 2 of 3

Once outside, Sebas tells Victoria how terrible Fidel is (as if Emilia doesn’t already know this). She gently explains she is trying to get to Roberta and finally gets him to smile. She touches his face with her hand and they kiss. At that moment, Leo comes up and says he is sorry (obviously he isn’t sorry at all) for the interruption. Sebas gives a little self-satisfied smirk (I can’t blame him) says “permiso” again but this time with a meaningful smile. Leo looks ticked.

Danilo goes “home” to see Aleida. She is doing a mockup board where pictures of the usual suspects hang. He talks about Romina and Sara’s marriage to Leo. He admits he loves Sara. Again. Aleida takes his hand.

Victoria and Leo talk about a myriad of subjects including Marijo and Roberta. Leo stands far too close to her.

Ezequiel makes a call to Roberta and fills her in about Fidel playing hero to Victoria. Victoria turns her vitriol onto poor Gigi who is wearing an emerald green silky shirt and a rather subdued leopard print skirt. Roberta fingers the blouse in obvious disdain, saying the “right” candidate needs to be professional in demeanor and appearance. Gigi is shaken and says she thought they were friends. Roberta gives a noncommittal answer then kisses her on the cheek and leaves. Gigi stands with tears pooling in her eyes.

Leo seems to have captivated Victoria with a rather mesmerizing stare. Somehow, he ends up holding her and telling her she is enchanting. But the most startling thing is she makes no attempt to push him away!

Joaquina reassures Nico that Roberta loves him; he is her nieto!

Finally, Vic manages to disengage herself from Leo’s octopus like grip but she doesn’t step back. She caresses his face and brings up his marriage and his children. He teases her with his lips and she does eventually push him away telling him her feelings are her business, her problem. Undeterred, he has the temerity to say “te amo” and kisses her! Victoria responds a bit, clearly unnerved. With that, he leaves, Victoria looking shell shocked, putting her hand over her mouth.

We finally see something revealing. Joaquina flashes back to opening a closet and finding a young Leo locked in by Roberta, crying his eyes out. She prays. Aside note: If Joaquina is indeed Leo’s mother (and I don’t think she is), how could she stand by and allow Roberta to abuse him thusly? It would be unforgiveable.

Victoria calls her contact in Uzbekistan.

Marijo rightly notes that Leo is having problems with Sara. Leo is in love with someone else; she rightly guesses Victoria. He tells her Victoria is having a relationship with Sebas but Mari encourages him, giving him gentle little facial slaps.

Gigi, appearing to get to the limit of her patience, mentions the “D” word to Addled who looks shocked.

MINAS #79 Part 3 of 3

A livid Roberta confronts Fidel (something she said was bleeped out). Maldita traitor she screams. She asks if there is someone else…is it Victoria??

Leo confronts Sebas in front of the miners about Victoria. Mi novia Sebas says proudly. Tigre, to whom this is a joyous revelation yells out congratulations. Sebas tells Leo he loves Victoria with all his heart. Leo is deliberately trying to poke the bear…

For some reason, Roberta feels it necessary to tell Fidel that she is La Patrona. Does she think that will cower Fidel into submission? Nopis, it doesn’t. Her threats have Fidel standing his ground. He tells her he is no longer interested in her. Further, he threatens to use what he knows against her if she ever decides to try and bring him down. Something was said about some woman, a friend of Roberta’s (can anyone clarify??). She grabs a sharp object which she puts to his throat but ends up leaving, even angrier than when she entered.

Joaquina visits Victoria who mistakenly thinks is there to see Roberta. She needs to tell Victoria something. She is worried about Nico. Immediately on alert, Victoria asks if Nico is all right. No, it isn’t Joaquina admits and you can see Victoria getting upset.

Aleida is spying on and getting pictures of the “bought” miner and two others but makes a noise almost giving herself away and has to run off. I think she dropped her phone.

Addled goes “home” to Miriam and Andres. He is abusive, telling her she is alone and grabs Andres threateningly.

Nico talks to Cayetana about his heartaches and she seems to hold him and care and tell him not to be sad.

Teresa announces to Gigi that Senora Roberta has come to see her. Roberta mutters something about a lot of money which I didn’t understand.

Victoria and Joaquina talk further. Ignacio and Mauricio are both brought up (I think Joaquina wonders how Victoria knew about Mauricio). Joaquina tells her Nico is very sad about Emilia and is desperate. Victoria seems to ask Joaquina point blank – what happened to Ignacio?

Thanks, Diana.
Joaquina tells Leo her father mistreated her and humiliated her. Then Roberta showed up and rescued her. Leo sees she is upset and doesn't question her further because he doesn't want to be a reason for more suffering. He doesn't buy the story, though. Joaquina murmurs he can't know the truth because Roberta would kill him and she (Joaquina) would die. I do hope I got this bit right.
What is up with people in telenovelas encouraging married people to go after someone else? So Leo is going to listen to Mari, who has no idea what it's like to be in such a situation. I wonder what she'd say if he beloved Gael fell in love with someone else and another person told him to go after that other girl. No wonder I never liked Mari all that much. Leo tells Vic how it drives him crazy that she is dangerous. In the same scene he tells her she has no proof his mummy dearest is an evil witch who wants more money. Oh now I get what's so attractive about him. Who wouldn't want to be reminded of his previous behaviour under similar circumstances? Emilia likes feeling like her man is constantly doubting her, don't we all...Even my sense of humour fails me here. I think it's worse than Invencible because I feel I'd need to be quite drunk to understand why anyone would fancy Leo. I also always wonder what these love admitions are supposed to achieve because Leo said 'now it's your problem as well'. He repeats he'll separate from Sara.
Vic's partner from Uzbekistan is arriving at the Gloria.
Roberta offers Gigi 10 000 000 pesos if she agrees to not run for presidenta. Fidel says he has proof Roberta was involved in Luisa's death. Apparently Luisa was her friend and died in la cueva del diablo so I'm guessing she's Ignacio's first wise. It amuses me Roberta thinks she is the only one with the info she can use.
Joaquina tells Victoria Roberta is losing her mind because she often confuses Nico with either Maurico or Leo. So she is sometimes very ind to him and other times horrible. She wants Vic to be close to Nico. How is that supposed to save him? Roberta is abusive and Victoria can't just take Nico from her which is really the only solution.
I don't understand why Mari saying Leo should fight for Vic made him go to Sebas to 'poke the bear'. How is that supposed to be of any use? I genuinely feel now as if this telenovela was somehow beyond my comprehension skills because Leo's character is just so hard to watch and he is still a protagonist.
Addled threatened Miriam that if she goes to work at the restaurant, she shouldn't bother coming back home. She says that then she is leaving with Andres. Addled obviously won't let that happen. Question:how long will it be before Miriam runs to Sebas for help? How long will it take him to go back to his old role of 'protector of all women?' And how long will it be before he suddenly realises he is in lov with her? ZIf he likes adrenaline so much, maybe it would be enough for him to be a firefighter? I mean, he'd get to rescue women, kids and kittens. Surely that would satisfy this urge he has of saving people and he wouldn't need to be with Miriam?

"MINAS" EPISODE#79:

Diana: Enjoyed the recap of last night's episode. More secrets, more chaos!

Waterlily: Something tells me Joaquina is Psycho Roberta's sister & she knows Psycho Roberta killed Ignacio but kept it secret.

Susan: Dumbass Danillo will blow up the Fearsome Foursome's revenge plans because of his obsession over Crazy Whacky Blonde Sara, who doesn't give a shit about Romina, etc.,

Weirdo: Maury Povich needs to get over here & expose Dumbass Danillo as the Baby Daddy of Romina ASAP.

UA: This Telenovela will be around for 107 episodes.

Thanks Jarifa, i was lost in a lot of this so thankful to have things cleared up.

I was hoping Lorena would listen to, and believe, Manuela. Maybe when Leandro goes after his kids she will. I was surprised the kids all got along. Guess I’m so used to the brat being bratty that it’s surprising to see her nice.

I really think Everardo took the money from Amanda’s account. When told she was closing the shop(or something like that) he seemed to say she’d soon be back home. Her family is really awful. They all use her and Leandro won’t help her.

Paloma’s family is another awful pair. How can you break your daughter’s heart more than once just to keep her supporting you. Walter is going to approach her eventually and hopefully she’ll find out what’s going on.

They are doubling up episodes here too. I hate they’re rushing us through this as I’m enjoying it.

Jarifa, your marvelous recap was a lifeline last night, shining a bright light onto everything that occurred. Thank you for including "Expecting things from others can feed the soul but also can leave us deeply disappointed” which are such wise, true words!

Manuela (understandably) felt betrayed by Manuela and did not accept her explanation (which was inexplicable and unbelievable to me as well). I was surprised Julieta seemed to draw her half brothers in quite easily. They and Leandro see something in her I do not.

There is some nefarious force at work, someone/someones behind Dulce and Damian’s disappearance. I have faith that Pablo and Jorge will investigate and unearth the truth.

Yaneli has been warned in no uncertain terms as to how much danger she is in. Oh, and then there is Edgar. One of the women needs to take her in; I would think Amanda would have offered but perhaps she doesn’t quite realize how bad things are? She needs a safe haven.

Paloma’s parents “luck” in fleecing and continuing to ruin her life can’t continue indefinitely.

I don’t recall the scene where Manuela found Andrea Salcedo’s file. Do we know why Leandro was with her when she went to the center?

I also just wanted to add that Aleida promised Danilo they'll get Sara out of the firing line. The weirdest thing was that she promised they'll try not to affect her election campaign. I mean, why so much consideration? Sara doesn't genuinely want the post. I can't believe they will show so much consideration to someone who is just a selfish, whining, lying person. Besides, she is just another Addled. Don't they want to improve life in that town? Sara promisedshe 'will think about it' when Danilo asked to see his daughter. He said he'll accept it if she wants nothing to do with him. Right. And pigs will fly and Emilia will fall in love with Seb.

MINAS

Waterlily, wow...your entire comment was more than cut and paste worthy. Thank you for filling in the blanks perfectly.

"Question:how long will it be before Miriam runs to Sebas for help? How long will it take him to go back to his old role of 'protector of all women?' And how long will it be before he suddenly realises he is in lov with her?" seems to sum the situation up perfectly. Sebas is the jewel in the crown and it would make no sense for him not to have some sort of happy ending. And that can only occur if he does fall in love with Miriam, improbable as that seems at this moment.

I did think Joaquina said something about her father to Leo but was surprised at how abruptly the conversation ended.

Thank you for explaining Fidel threatening Roberta about "Luisa." Obvio, Fidel must have a death wish.

I'm glad Joaquina told Victoria about Roberta's twisted penchant to confuse Nico and Mauricio.

Again, thank you for all your wise, astute observations. I hope that by now you are feeling much better!

Thanks Diana, you filled in a lot for me. Thanks also to Weirdo.

It doesn’t sound like Joaquina told Leo much of anything. And I think she knows every awful thing that Roberta did. So I don’t understand how she can live with herself, as long as she keeps quiet Roberta will do more harm. It sounds like she killed Ignacio’s wife too.

I hate that Sebas is going to be so hurt when Victoria leaves him for Leo. I like Leo even less now that he’s so sure of himself with Victoria.

Aleida did drop her phone. And one of the men was looking at a phone. If it was hers Roberta is going to find out everything.

I feel sorry for Gigi. Everyone seems to be against her. I do hope she wins this election. If she’s not forced to drop out.

Once again Roberta had turned the town against Emilia/Victoria. She needs to grab Nico and run far away.

Waterlily, I have tried to post a comment to you at least six times. I've given up and asked Rgv Chick to please retrieve and post it when she has a moment.

I can't thank you enough for all the important you so sagely supplied!!

Hopefully, it will be up soon.

Liz, “I really think that Everardo took the money from Amanda’s account.” It would not surprise me if he had hired some shady tech guy to pull one over on Amanda.
I agree that Walter will be actively back on the scene, too, since it looked like he was standing out on the side walk outside of Paloma’s house. A confrontation cannot happen soon enough for me and Walter seems to be on his last nerve.

Thanks, Diana. Manuela originally saw Andrea in person back at start of the novela when Leandro was escorting Andrea to the center. They had a flashback where Manuela remembered their arrival and how she and Leandro recognized each other. In the present, she finds her file and notices that nobody ever followed up with Andrea. This novela has quotes from characters at the beginning and end of each episode just like the rest of the Vencer novelas. I wish I had more time to include them all. “There is some nefarious force at work.” Yes, the mystery of what happened to Dulce and who was involved keeps growing and growing.

Thank you Liz!

I so appreciate your "It doesn't sound like Joaquina told Leo much of anything". Things seem on the tip of her tongue, but unable to roll off!

I was happy Sebas got to gloat a bit to Leo even though we know it will be sadly short lived. Victoria seemed to be literally melting at Leo's touch. Ack.

I fear Aleida's lost phone will be problematic but as we still have so many episodes to go, think it will not be too catastrophic (famous last words!)

I feel for Gigi too especially as Sara is her father's daughter. A louse for a husband and a daughter.

Gracias, Jarifa. Not sure what I can add to what's already been said.

If Univision is going to two-hour broadcasts next week we may have to deal with more slicing and dicing. This series had 80 episodes in Mexico so we may be facing three episodes within two hours, as they once did to us with Pasion y Poder. Since I just took the bargain deal on VIX Premium ($40 for the first year) I will probably look back to find the revelation about Walter's deal with the two greedy devils that Paloma is stuck with as parents. With slightly fewer than 50 episodes remaining this will be more than annoying.

Totally agree that Everardo is probably behind the drain on Amanda's bank account. Not sure if Leandro is involved. Do we even know what his legal specialty is?

It never ceases to amaze me when I see anyone play the helpless card and managing to mess up people's lives by doing so. Carmina is doing this and while this didn't stop Pablo from filing for divorce she could really stop him from getting on with his life is she puts their son at risk. She has no conscience. In the real world a sensible man doesn't stay with someone practicing Affected Helplessness.

Paloma's parents would not have done this horrible crap if she had been a son instead. I am convinced they would have still done this if they also had a son. They obviously have gambled away anything accrued from selling anything they own -- if they had.

Be back shortly; I have an errand.

Urban, as you well know, Uni never ceases to mess things up. Only time will tell what the schedule will look like once the new novela takes over the 7:00 pm central slot and whether they will be slicing or dicing or not. As for finding out what Paloma's parents told Walter, we do not know if that was cut or if that is yet to be revealed. As for Paloma's parents, they are addicts pure and simple and cannot be trusted. Paloma needs to get her head out of the sand. She is too happy snappy with her parents knowing what she does about them. As I have said before, being gullible is not a virtue. Thanks for the Vix Premium info.

Diana,.thank you for so faithfully supplying us with a great recap of all the bubbling trouble . uff .
Waterlily, thank you for all the details .

I do not like the way Em\Vic is using lovestruck Sebas to keep Leo away. That is cruel, and I dont think she will end up with him . We seem to be getting Mar\Leona playing lovestruck Gael all over again . She convinced Gael...and me...that she was actually falling in love with Gael , but in the end , Leona needed David and Gael like a fish needs a bicycle. However, in this show , I think Em and Leo will be end game. I, personally, would be leaving town with kind , protective ,loyal, gentle Sebas . With Leo, Em will always have to fend for herself while Leo shrugs his broad shoulders, sighs, and stares info the mist. Uff. Thanks ...but...no thanks . Susan

Jarifa, thank you very much for another excellent report . Your recaps allow me to keep up with this story even though I don't have access to Uni right now . Also, festivities are still buzzing here with my family.

It appears that Ger is not the person who made Dulce disappear and that he is worried about and scared of the dark forces involved in her disappearance. Will her vanishing have anything to do with Pablo's son ?

Was Leondro the lawyer for The girl who was raped ? Was he involved ? Could we be getting another tale about human trafficking? Just speculating . I am watching the last season of " Jack Ryan" and that theme has popped up there , too. It was also in an excellent Turkish dizi on Netflix called " Kara Para Ask" ("Black Money Love). Susan

Thanks, Jarifa. Fine job.

Genaro, Yaneli is an adult now and, thanks to you, living alone and vulnerable. Time to give her the 411 since according to you she's in danger too. You are sooo frustrating.

I can't blame Lorena for not believing Manuela doesn't want Leandro. But I do blame Manuela for being surprised that Lorena showed up with her kids to visit Leandro. Duh!

My favorites: Yaneli, Enrique, Franco, Paloma.

MINAS

"With Leo, Em will always have to fend for herself while Leo shrugs his broad shoulders, sighs, and stares info the mist" was incredibly intuitive and just perfect Susan.

While she is giving Sebas a chance (supposedly) to win her love, Victoria has always been honest with Sebas, she loves him like a brother. Both are foolish in thinking love can be forced. That said, miracles do happen, so I am hoping for a lightening bolt to strike Emilia and make her genuinely fall in love with Sebas.

Diana

VENCER

Susan, thanks for keeping up ins pite of not having Uni available. You are a real trooper. Yes, Leandro was the lawyer for the rape victim. I suspect we will end up being surprised with who was involved with who and what by the end of this. Everyone keeps recommending "Jack Ryan" to me. I may have to give it a look.

Niecie, yes, there are so many characters that are "sooo frustrating". As for Manuela being "surprised," I agree that was a "Duh."

Minas #79

El corazon no se manda.

Leo could not learn to love Sara after the loss of Emilia and Em/Vic can't make herself love Sebas as he wants her to. Once you see a guy as a brother you can't get hot for him. I can attest to that.

Em/Vic is slipping on what she knows of the past. Someone is going to out her soon.

I think Joaquina is Roberta's sister or cousin. She also knows dirty secrets we don't know and may have hidden proof or else Roberta would have killed her ages ago. If Leo is her son -- possibly by Roberta's previous husband -- she's been behind the 8 ball since he was born. As far as her breaks from reality are concerned it could be her fate to lose her mind and end u in a manicomio in the presence of anyone whom she railroaded there.
