12-18-23 Part 2

Because of the big march, some woman approaches Nuria and Chelo to tell them where the wife killer Mario has been hiding.

Chalo has come to the hospital where his mother has been checked for heart issues. He shoots off his mouth to Martha. A good thing is that he tells her about Braulio trying to rape Nuria.

Amelia comes to Diego’s apartment. She’s come to tell him they’re over and so is his job at the foundation. Celia is standing right there, and the b@#ch tries to act like a wounded wife.

Chenta and Tigre have gotten it on in her apartment. She’s admitted that she’s a sex worker. He offers to help find her some other kind of job.

Liana wants Santi to tell Martha about their “relationship”. Juandres talks with the other kids about how annoying she is. When mentioning to the kids and Casandra that Santi had another girlfriend before, one he never met, he says the name Nuria and something sort of registers.

Tigre talks to the narcos. The main guy is one Sapo, played by Juan Pablo Llano. Tigre tells Sapo that getting involved will be great; he’ll get his hands into one of the biggest companies in the country.

Carmen tells Euge about having a date. Sicko Fausto looks on.

Celia is too dumb to try to win Diego over and keeps ragging on Amalia.

Amelia is sobbing in her bedroom. Braulio comes in and goes all deceived husband on her. When she says how much she loved Diego, he slaps her.

Diego notices Celia’s phone ringing and listens to Ezequiel asking why she isn’t picking up and that she left him in a mess. I’m dying to know what she pulled in “el gabacho”.

Fausto gets more and more unbearable. He tells Chelo that Carmen needs a man to “cure” her. Later, when Chelo tells him the news about Capn Corrupt being found dead, Fausto confesses and says he did it for the good of the three of them.

More moaning and groaning from Rai. Nuria tells him they’ll find a way to get the surgery he needs. But he needs to tell Ros the truth.

Martha tears into Braulio for hitting Amalia. He, of course, tells her about Amalia and Diego. He also gets her riled up about Amalia possibly leaving with Juandres.

Tigre and the evil auntie talk. The plan is for him to be the only Zepeda left and to get all the money. I wonder if he really is the bio kid.

Martha gets on her high horse about Amelia’s relationship with Diego. She tells Amalia that Juandres is a Zepeda and his place is in their house.

Mario is arrested.

Braulio and Tigre come to meet the narcos. Braulio acts like an entitled rich boy when the narcos approach the car. He ends up having to hand over his phone and put a black bag over his head. It’s an improvement.

Valentin shows up to tell Martha about the delay in production that will cost the company millions. This, of course, is because of the cheapo fabrics brilliant Braulio bought.

Thank you Novelera for your recap! The week has been busy for me with work as we are preparing for a coworkers leave and switching around duties to cover her while she's gone. I can still put something up for tonight's episode but it will probably be shorter notes and maybe not until the afternoon. I'll recap Thursday's episode.

I find myself fascinated with Braulio's performance. He's wicked, but the actor does a good job of showing his conflicted emotions and even how he's somewhat haunted by his own actions. When Amelia was talking about her heartache in going to end things with Diego, for a split second he looked genuinely pained for her, and then he slapped her!!! It's a compelling performance!

Speaking of performances, I love Laura Flores, you can tell just by looking at her face when she's about to go full bitch mode!!! It's a look and the viewer is like, 'watch out here she comes'! How entitled to think she can tell Amelia that she IS going to leave her son with them!!! She knows that Braulio is horrible but she would still advocate for Amelia to be the one separated from Juandres???? This shows her as the controlling MIL from hell, but considering her own issues with being separated from her child, and her insistence with the would-have-been adoptive mother that she keep her child even when it meant going against Braulio; it's out of character that she would try to separate Amelia and Juandres. This is another interesting and conflicting character, and oh boy, her full bitch mode is something to see!!!

Santi's spidey senses are definitely peaked, he told Alberto to look into exactly what happened with Nuria's son, Andres' death!!!

Novelera, thank you for providing us with an excellent recap of all the treachery and scheming . The good and the bad are all lined up now.

Kimberly ( Liana) knows how to be very bad . She could give Cece some lessons .

Wardrobe continues to make Nuria's dresses from the same pattern ...very short with a low neckline and short , puffed sleeves . Perhaps the message is that she makes her own clothes....but couldn't she afford a few different patterns !

Tigre is a busy bee , and how is hot pants girl going to figure in to his storyline ?

Susan, thanks for mentioning something that has been bothering me from the beginning. The only time Nuria looks like an adult woman is when she's working at the retail clothing store with the black sort of uniform.

Puffy sleeves and country peasant styles just don't do it for me. It may be because Samadhi doesn't have the body type to wear those close fitting, body hugging styles that the Liana actor wears.

This is like a poor man's version of Hercai. It's not supposed to be funny... but it is to me.

Speaking of Hercai, I came across this comment: "The person who wrote the script for Hercai should seriously think about going to a mental institution because there's definitely something wrong with her head."

"But the bodice ripper plot..." lol, novelera. Although, the dizi writers and directors think it's normal to have sex fully clothed. In fairness, they have no choice about this.

Martha comes so close to reasonable and then BAM! "I'm keeping your son even though you're the mother and almost certainly have rights even in a telenovela". She never goes so far that she's out of the realm of rehabilitation. Unlike Braulio and now Liana. I felt for Liana, who clearly needed some mental help, but she crossed a line last night. I did have to laugh at her wig disguise: a slightly different hair style in almost the same shade of brown as her own, and sunglasses. Or maybe it was the shawl that really protects her identity. She's not ready for the bigtime so will probably be ruined by Tigre. Is it wrong that I don't hate him? I mean, he's terrible, but only to people who deserve it, except for Tania. And the woman in our group home- Ch-something like everyone else. Let's call her Magdalena. Magdalena is good people and doesn't deserve to be hurt by Tigre. But I'm all in for most everything else he's doing. Can someone give him Celia's number? It sounded like she may have escaped an abusive situation, and I would never condone domestic violence, but if he wanted to run her over like he did Tania for completely not abusive reasons, I think that's ok. Nice to see Diego stand up to her but he's not going to be able to get rid of her without a high-priced lawyer. Or Tigre.

K...ha...I had the same thought as you . Liana thought a wig that looked similar to her own hair color and length was going to be a great disguise . ...not a blond or red wig in a different style and length. okay.

Thanks for your comment, dondi. Yes, this is kind of a train wreck. I was hoping for a more nuanced role for Ayda Aksel. I don't see any signs of impending remorse like we saw with Azize in Hercai. Because I am the mother of a son, I just can't wrap my head around her wanting him to suffer. I get that it's because Gulcemal killed the cruel looking love of her life, but I still find it unbelievable that someone would hate their biological child that much. And she doesn't hesitate to lie to people she supposedly cares about, AND burns down the house and workshop of the good people.

I keep wondering if Melis Sezen suffers from some lung complaint. The constant gasping still gets on my nerves. And, if you sprained your blasted ankle, just run anyway and get away. Of course she has to stay there to fall in love with Iron Chin.

Darcy: Liana (Kimberly Dos Ramos) is one despicable person with scheming evil 24/7.

Body Count must be increasing non-stop!

Susan: Let's hope the Good Guys become victorious in the end.

Vuelve – pt1
I will try to report everything as concisely as possible. I have to hurry today so I am just typing from memory, I apologize in advance for anything I forget!

Santi gathers all the board members for an emergency meeting saying production is at a standstill and they are losing over 1 mil dollars a day (he said 20,000,000 pesos, same thing). They are in crisis and need to do something. Braulio acted like the petulant put-upon brother the whole time with lots of ‘how dare you not trust Me’s’ and ‘Santi was in prison until like 5 mins agos!’ He tries to ensure everyone that everything is fine and there’s no need for panic, he’s handling everything!!! He doesn’t, however, give them any actual information about how this is being handled. Liana finally somewhat mildly backs him up and Martha is satisfied enough to declare they will meet again in six months. Apparently, it doesn’t matter how anyone else in the room feels, she just declares it so, and ends the meeting. She tells Braulio that if production doesn’t show improvement in 6 months’ she will name a different President!!???!!! Leaving behind the whole Braulio is horrible and getting into bed with criminals thing for a min, so Martha can just declare a new president whenever she wants to? I get why she did it the first time, but I figured that was one and done. I would think it’d be very destabilizing to have a company where mommy can take your job on a whim if she’s mad at you!

Rai collapses and now everyone knows about his cancer. There were some hurt feelings around ‘you knew and didn’t tell me’, especially from Carmen to Euge, but it all got forgiven. Rai’s surgery will cost roughly $17,600, which is much less than the Zepeda group loses in a day, so I vote they pay for the operation since it’s chump change to them!!! In all seriousness though, it’s glaring to see these two stories juxtaposed, one man might lose his life for lack of $17,000 while across town there’s a company meeting to discuss the $1 Million in product not being produced per day. The last person to find out about Rai’s cancer is Santi (who stopped by to see Nuria again, more on that later) and he seems genuinely concerned, so maybe the Zepeda’s will pay for the surgery – if any of these people are smart enough to shallow their pride and let them!!

Liana is still sleeping with Tigre!!! I don’t know why I’m surprised but Tigre isn’t and flat out said to Liana that she uses sex to get what she wants from men, and it doesn’t work with Santi. I don’t know why I thought cheating on Santi is a card she’d be trying to avoid playing…. But oh, well. Liana wants something alright, and it’s for Tigre to kill Nuria!!! Liana overheard Santi talking about looking for Andres and she’s now convinced that Santi will never stop thinking about Nuria, so she wants her dead! Why doesn’t she just kill her herself, you might ask? Well, I am asking too since she obviously had no qualms about killing Rosendo, maybe she just wants distance and probable deniability?

 

Vuelve - Pt 2

Speaking of Rosendo, he has a wife!!! That’s right, another cheating bastard!! What a shock, not. He’s a dead bastard though, so I guess that’s that. A neighbor saw a woman leaving the building after the shot and described her as: ‘thin, not too tall, with dark hair’ – which I don’t think is a very good description of Lianna, who is more average height with lighter brown hair; but we do have another cast member who is shorter with darker hair, well a couple of good substitute suspects I suppose we’ll see. On second thought, I know exactly what the intent is (I hope), because I see Tigre sneaking into the evil store and taking a picture of Violeta’s ID!! That makes sense, kill Rosendo and frame the woman accusing him of sexual harassment! It’s still horrible, of course, but from the description I was afraid Nuria would get framed and Vi isn’t exactly innocent.

Diego came to the foundation to get his stuff and his severance. He has another painful goodbye with Amelia and with Juandres. Later Juandres describes the situation to Cassie, who catches on that Diego must have been fired and tells Juandres! I would say something like ‘damn Cassie’ but it seems to be more like stating the obvious on her part, and not any ill intent. Much later, Juandres confronts Mommy about firing Diego and demands to know why!! Braulio slinks in about then and is presumably about to tell Juan the truth, but Amelia interrupts and says it’s because Diego found a better job and needs to make more money to support his family. Juan is satisfied with that and runs off, Braulio tries to sweet talk Amelia, but she isn’t having it. Her relationship with Diego is over, but her marriage is over too!!!

Okay, so Santi goes to see Nuria because he wants to ask about Andres. He says he wants to help, and she should have heard him out but of course she jumps to ‘I don’t want your help!’ and repeats it over and over again until Rai comes up and backs her up! This is a plot line pet-peeve for me, as it makes no sense!!! Nuria is poor, she has no resources, no leads, no idea of what she’s doing; in what world would a woman in her position turn down help from a well-connected man with lots of money who wants to help her??? It’s crazy!!! Not saying one should take advantage of someone else because they shouldn’t. However, she has not one but two millionaires begging to help her, and she needs to find her young son who was KIDNAPPED and is in she has no idea what condition!!! I would let them both help me; hell let’s see who can find him first!!! I’d accept all help until my child was found; no matter what the motivation of the help might be. I think most mothers would!!! But she sends him away again. To be fair to Nuria, she does seem to be reconsidering her stance later with Chelo, but of course Chelo talks her out of it!!! The Zepedas are evil, and they’ve hurt Nuria too much already!!!! So, they’re evil, okay, fine; how are they at finding kidnapped children???

But as bad luck and many expletives would have it, neither Santi nor Braulio is going to be the first to find Juandres! You see, Tigre goes to bring Chenta breakfast and chat her up. He asks about Nuria (which may or may not indicate his willingness to do Liana’s bidding) and is told she’s either in her room or at the police station since they are reopening the case of her missing son. Oh, and look! We finally got a flyer!!! Chenta proudly shows Tigre the new missing flyer they FINALLY had made up with a big picture of Juandres front and center, identifying him as Andres Garcia.

Darcy, wowee wow, thank you so much for that excellent detailed recap of everything that happened as the drama unfolds . I especially loved your comment about your willingness to accept help from both millionaires to find your missing son !! Yes ,yes !!! very pragmatic and smart!!! Right on. This is why you are not a character in a telenovela!

Okay , so now we know why the writers had Liana choose a dark wig ...I guess we are going to see someone with dark hair accused of killing Rosendo ...and Nuria isnt tall...but nasty Vi is , and Liana doesn't like her. Plus, Liana wants Tigre to solve her Nuria problem speedy quick . ,( I didn't realize that Rosendo was the person Liana shot .).

This is the kind of dizi that’s ripe for mocking. I don’t think there are many viewers.

First class recap, Darcy! I really appreciated all your side comments.

Yes, indeed. Martha is often presented as dumb as a box of rocks. Santi clearly shows how much money they're losing every day. And she gives him six months so he can lose it all! And, yes, the pres being fired would require the whole board of directors to vote on it, not just pissed off mommy. But then we veteranos have a long list of implausible telenovela things. There's Telenovela Airlines' instant transport from town to town. And there's the ever popular telenovela business. This is where no work is ever done, gossips flourish, and rich SOBs abound. Don't let us forget telenovela trials that cause viewers with legal expertise to cover their eyes and moan.

We are on the same page about Nuria's stupid pride in refusing help from either Santi or Braulio. Of course, if she did do that and Roberto got to work and found the kid in 2 days' time, the whole plot would be upended.

I did not connect the dots about Violeta being the one framed for Rosendo's murder. Thanks for making things clearer, Darcy.
