"VINO" HIGHLIGHTS DISCUSSION:

My thoughts on yesterday's episode: Carito telling Gullible Perla off once & for all before she leaves the apartment. Then we see Jackass Gutierrez working on some investigation about migrant smuggling I think & the usual boring stale diet: Crazy Whacky Blonde rubbing the engagement to Boring David news right in the face of Luciana, who looked annoyed & didn't want to be at the restaurant.

Enjoying these 2 full HRS of this week, even though it's only temporary for this week & liked it. I like to see more 3 HR Telenovelas in the future.

On today's episode: Darcy & SpanProf: Any shocking twists & turns from this afternoon's episode because I wasn't able to watch due to work, etc.,

Vino

What happened today, well the family celebrated the engagement, everyone who isn't in the family was rightfully appalled. David went to see Luci at the other vineyard because he just had to explain to her his reason... I don't know why, he's said I'm doing this for the good of my children 5,436 times already, I'm pretty sure she's heard it! Luci told him off as she should and said he wasn't doing it for the kids, he was selling out and taking the easy way out which is 100% true!

Carito told Gut all about Juan and Gut promised her protection but he died before he could even get her to the station!!! Juan sent some thugs to kill Carito but they killed Gut instead! RIP Sheriff, was Gut a bad good guy? Or a good bad guy? A racist? Not a racist? In love with Marta? In love with Lil? In love with his own ambitions (probably)? I don't know, and I don't care. He claimed to love Marta though with his dying breath and she claimed she loved him too which is sucky for Ramon. He also told Marta that it was Lil who had him deport her family!

Carito went to the police station after Gut's death and is now too scared to talk so she didn't tell them about anything except what happened with Gut's death. Carito told Perla off again!

Perla learned the Juan tried to kill her best friend and did kill the sheriff, but she still wants to run away with him instead of from him like she should!!!

Fern threw a fit because Tano wasn't thrilled about daddy's engagement and she feels like Tano, as her boyfriend, should feel exactly as she feels at all times; or at least as she wants him to feel. But Gracie convinced her to apologize so they made up.

And the very best thing that happened...Marta comes back to the vineyard and the main house to confront Lilian. Lil had just learned about Gut's death and was devastated but Marta doesn't care and she starts the same he loved me not you fight with Lil that they have been having about Fernando for how many years? Anyway, Marta put the SMACKDOWN on Lilian!!! And got caught by David and Bobby of course, but that happened at the very end of the episode so we'll see the fallout tomorrow. Both Azela Robinson and Cynthia Klitbo were phenomenal in this scene!!! I love the scenes where they really get up in each other's faces and you can really see just how talented these ladies are!!

There is no doubt that this show is bad because of bad writing and not bad acting!!! Which is even sadder because it makes you wonder what they could have done with this if they had a good script, storylines, plot, etc. The potential was there but the follow through was a MESS!!

Oh, and no 3 hour novelas for me!! Hard pass!

"VINO" HIGHLIGHTS DISCUSSION:

Darcy: Jackass Gutierrez got whacked I see. The dude was a self-hating racist who hated his own people & wanted to be Anglo, so go figure.

Good Riddance! Next!

Marta OMG crying over the Jackass with Carito standing there.

Gullible Perla is flat out STUPID running away with Slippery Juan OMG.

Vino. Wow! Gutierrez killed! (though even though I don't read plot summaries before watching, I did see a title that made me suspect something would happen to him.) It was really stupid of him, knowing that Carito was under threat, to walk her and Marta back to the sheriff's office--with Carito trailing far behind--rather than calling for a squad car. Poor writing again, I suppose. And it was a very bad idea for Carito not to tell the police everything about the threats she was under; just makes another hit attempt more likely. I will say that the actor playing Gutierrez did an incredibly good death scene--kind of like an old-time Shakespearian stage actor. And as usual in this kind of drama, the ambulance was very slow. Again, a lot of screen time of Luci suffering about David and Graciela! If you can't kick him to the curb, girl, get therapy! And Miguel is totally right that David is responsible for his own problems.

One thing really bothered me throughout these episodes, everyone kept saying Gut died saving Marta's life. Just Marta, not Marta and Carito but just Marta. I understand why Marta said it she's so self-involved, but everyone else heard what happened and still said this. Gut died saving Carito! Carito was the one in danger, Carito was the one they were after, and Carito was the one they aimed at when the shooting started. It's probably true that Marta was in danger too and that Gut wanted to protect her too, but it just grates that Carito isn't even mentioned in the conversation.

I also found it weird how the cop who came to see Marta and Lil (by accident) said, 'I promise we'll get these guys'. The guys were already gotten, Gut shot them, and they died, I think. It could be that he meant he'd get the one who sent them, but it didn't sound like that, and I don't think he'd have any reason to believe they were sent at that time.

Anyway, Marta is leaving the vineyard and 'her' ninos, because she refuses to apologize. Everyone is mad at David for daring to do such a thing to Marta and they all see her as the put upon martyr that she loves to be. But I think David was right, for the first time ever! Although Marta has reason to be upset with Lil, she handled it badly. She had no right coming into the house and putting a smackdown on Lil, especially in the middle of the foyer where the children could, and Bobby did see and hear! Her behavior was wrong and once again she takes zero responsibility for it and those around her hold her zero percent responsible. This isn't exactly surprising we've seen Fern act horrendously with zero accountability many times. That said, I understand why it might be unimaginable for Marta to apologize to Lil under the circumstances and I don't blame her for leaving, but she shouldn't have confronted Lil violently in the middle of the family foyer!!! I do give her some compassion because she was in shock and grieving and grief can cause you to do stupid things but own up to your stuff. Both Marta and Luci have the 'I'm perfect' complex.

Otherwise, Fern was able to show some compassion for Marta even though she ultimately sided with grandma and tried to convince Bobby that this too is Luci's fault. Fern even managed to disagree with Tano without fighting, yelling, or stomping off in a huff! That's something.

Marta goes off to vineyard Santa Barbara, is anyone surprised? Nope, me neither. I suppose now she can fall for Aldolfo, and she and Lil can fight over him next! But actually, I hope not, cause Ramon doesn't deserve that. On the other hand, if she did Ramon could wash his hands of her and maybe find a better woman.

Carito went back to the police station and told them everything, including that Perla is involved! Now she has another cop to believe and protect her. I hope this one lives to arrest Juan. Perla is still standing by her man, I mean psycho! I felt sorry for her when this show started but no sympathy is left. Her only redeeming quality used to be her genuine friendship with Carito, but she sold her friend down the river.

"VINO" HIGHLIGHTS DISCUSSION:

Darcy: You just took the words out of my mouth with your pissed off rant about everyone moping over Marta's life in danger Blah-Blah-Blah.

I watched when one of the deputies handed Marta the folded American flag which likely was draped on Jackass Gutierrez's casket. Just wait until everyone finds out Slippery Juan was the one, who hired those thugs to target Carito.

Right on Cue: Marta goes to.....Vineyard Santa Barbara.

I was like: Carito was the ONE in danger! Carito was the one being targeted! Carito was the one saved by Jackass Gutierrez!

Vino. Excellent observations on Marta, Darcy. I totally agree. Lilian was able to take advantage of Gutierrez's death to get rid of Marta, but you're right, only because of Marta's violent slapdown and failure to apologize. Perla? was worried about the death penalty, but California doesn't have the death penalty. Graciela showed more sympathy for Lilian when David entered the room, and the actress does a great job with her fake innocence expression. I noticed that Marta's hair color was the same as the color of the stairs. It will be interesting to see how the police go after Juan--hope David doesn't succeed in getting to him first! And only 10 episodes left!

Vino. And btw, it does appear that Adolfo and Miguel do need a housekeeper. How convenient that Marta is fully qualified for the job.

Vino

SpanProf, 10 more episodes til freedom! LOL But we are back to 1 hour a day next week so it will be two weeks. I wonder what they will play after Vino...

Vino. I looked it up, Darcy. It's supposed to be Amor dividido, with some of the same cast as Vino--Irina Baeva and Gabriel Soto, for example.
