Double episodes alway come with extra issues. If you have already seen this novela or are watching it on Univision or some other platform, please be careful to only comment on the episodes that we are discussing. Spoilers can happen inadvertently with so much content.
Also, if you have any extra info from th episode I have not included please feel free to include it in your comments. There is no way I can cover everything with double episodes and limited time.
Here we go.
PALOMA & FRANCO & WALTER
It turns out that there is nothing nefarious going on with Franco and Dulce's disappearance. He only wanted to help out swift the investigation so he printed up the photos to distribute, went looking for the bracelet and found out that it could be bought on any street corner. Paloma is the first person he has told about being HIV positive. As long as he keeps up with his meds, he can live a normal life since the virus will be undetectable and un-transmitable. He is in love with her. Paloma needs time to think about what he has told her and does her own research on HIV. Paloma's parents find out that Franco has HIV when she leaves her phone on the counter charging. She seems different and they want to know why. They lose no time in going to the company that Franco and Dulce work for to talk to his boss about his HIV problem. Franco is disappointed in Paloma believing she told her parents about his HIV. The parents then meet with Franco and tell him that no way will they allow him to end up with their daughter. She is there to support them in their old-age and now. They use his HIV as an excuse. They call him a degenerate and tell him if he does not leave their daughter alone, he will be sorry. Walter tells Paloma that it was her parents that made him leave her. It turns out that he spent time in jail in Argentina for some kind of pro-environment activity and they knew that could interfere with his immigration to Mexico or even the USA. Paloma is upset hearing that. He will do all he can to win her back. After a meeting, Obregón, the boss, makes a point of wanting to talk to Franco who seems to know why. Her friend tells Paloma that she saw her parents come to the office and that the gossip now is that Franco has HIV. Paloma finally puts it all together and tells her parents that they have been responsible for all of her previous romantic heartbreak and now her situation with Franco. She refuses to listen to their excuses and tells them they have one week to move out.
THE BRAT
The brat's parents talk to her about what she did and why. She says she did it because it was the trendy thing to do and she was angry she couldn't go to the concert. Leandro is less interested in punishing her but supports Manuela in her wanting the brat to have a consequence for her mistake. The brat hasn't learned much, because shortly after we see a scene with her mother where she is being as bratty as ever.
DAMIAN
We see Damián at the age of 15 arriving at the drug treatment center that predated the Athena House. Some guys approach him and he tells them that he heard that this place could help him with his problem. They say sure the center can help him and they can, too.
Brayan's uncle tells Pablo that the woman Norma Pardo in the photo is not Brayan's cousin.
Pablo tells Manuela about Nora Pardo. She recognizes the name as the woman who was Dulce's guarantor when she rented the apartment. Maybe Damian's and Dulce's disappearances are connected.
TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT
Carmina keeps trying to be a support for Pablo and he has to admit to Manuela that they have a very good relationship as exes. We see carmina invite paleo int her bed but he turns her down. he is still moving out. Manuela has to admit that Leandro is an exemplary father. Vicky tells her to be careful with her feeling about him as a father so it doesn't turn into something else.
Pablo agrees to let Carmina decide who Pablito's new doctor is going to be.
At Amanda's bidding, Leandro agrees to find out who Genaro's lawyer is. He says he had to file charges against him to protect her when he heard about the details of the case. He even offers to become his lawyer if his representation is inadequate. He tells Manuela who tells Vicky. Manuela wants to give him everything they have found out about Dulce. Vicky suggests she wait until she finds out what Leandro's plan for Genaro's case is. (DUH!)
In the final scene, it seems that Manuela finds out that she was released from her teaching job because of Leandro and his connections.
EVERARDO
Everardo has his grand supper. Amanda tells everyone she isn't coming but shows up just like Everardo predicts. The highlight is that he gets DNA samples from both Leandro and the brat so he can have a DNA test run to see if she is his granddaughter. Nico his son-in-law collects glasses in plastic bags when nobody is looking. (Give me a break!)
ENRIQUE
Enrique has the go-ahead from the city to construct three shops in his house for Amanda and his two children. His kids are as despicable as ever guarding and dreaming of their inheritance.
ANGELES
Angeles was once soap opera star. Funny but the actress Helena Roja plays a retired actress also in "Por ella soy Eva".
DULCE'S DNA
The prosecutor suddenly needs more of Dulce's DNA to test the bracelet against. Manuela cannot believe how incompetent his office is. She asks Paloma to find something appropriate from Dulce's belongings she kept. Paloma's parents tell her they threw that box out.
YANELI
Yaneli is still being pursued by her teacher Edgar. She threatens to file charges against him for harassment. He answers back with the threat of telling everyone she was flirting with him to get her scholarship back. She has a big surprise when it turns out that Axel is his nephew. He calls her a slut and tells her to not see his nephew again or else the rumors will fly. She doesn't care anymore and decides to report Edgardo but before she can, Edgar pays her a visit at the pet store. Axel shows up and asks his uncle what he is doing there. Yaneli tells him that he is harassing her.
That is it for me tonight.
The dialogue was simply way over my head, hence the brevity with many of the scenes. I struggled mightily to try and understand and I hope I was able to get at least some of this right. I did what I could. Kindly fill in what I missed and what I might have gotten wrong.
Victoria, previously proclaiming it was time for all to know that Emilia lives, shakes with emotion as she continues to watch Roberta violently confront her beloved son. Danilo and Aleida support and sympathize.
Sara continues to lie through her teeth that Romina is ill. She puts on a quite a cringeworthy show for a concerned Leo, acting wounded that Romina’s father has another woman..
Trying to stop Roberta, Victoria calls her. Roberta tucks her fangs away and acts sweet as pie when she talks to Victoria. She smirks that she is happy Victoria is having a relationship with Sebas. Aleida and Danilo are on the seat of their chairs as am I.
Roberta screams at Joaquina to sit down. Where is Nico she thunders. Joaquina answers and Roberta says something I didn’t understand and then lunges and grabs Joaquina around the throat!! If someone can explain what this was all about, kindly do so.
Leo must have capitulated and agreed to perpetuate the lie they are a loving family. Leo has Romina on his shoulders as he tells her and Nico how important they are to him. Sara enters and the four hug like the happy family they aren’t.
Tigre is at the breakfast table looking lost and sad. Zaira confronts him, having been pushed to her limit. She knows that things have been difficult but has a fatalistic attitude and seems not to want to change. He talks about Emilia but it’s obvious Zaira has had enough. She flounces out as he looks concerned but caught up in his own misery.
We see Sara, Leo, Romina and Nico, having an outdoor picnic looking like the picture of domestic tranquility. Sara is broadcasting this and we next see a stern Victoria, Aleida, Sebas and Danilo watching as Sebas puts his arm around Danilo in sympathy.
Gael’s rival pays off two men at the graveyard. Gael surprises one of them, calling him a disgrace and confronting him. There are several scenes but I can’t explain why they were there or what they were asked to do but Ignacio was mentioned. Eventually the man apologizes and gives Gael the money he was paid. He tries to kneel but Gael tells him to stand up.
Gigi and Pati strategize as Victoria arrives. Gigi asks her to sit. They talk about Addled and Sara’s candidacy. Victoria tells her Roberta is poison. I believe the important takeaway is that Victoria is offering Gigi her complete and unwavering support (as well as financing) to continue her candidacy. Victoria is confident Gigi will win and Gigi is genuinely touched and appropriately grateful and appreciative.
“No Sara” Danilo says to himself holding the paternity test results in his hand. He makes a call but I couldn’t say to whom…
Roberta and Fidel (looking even more sour and dour than usual) are meeting, she calls the video of Leo and his family pathetic.
Diana
Flor pays off a man behind the restaurant as Ezequiel comes up and tries to attack her. She knees him in his non- existent jewels causing him to double over in pain. She scoops something up from the ground (drugs?) as he sees a phone and picks it up ….
Fidel gives Roberta the phone. It rings and she sees it is Victoria calling Elvira/Aleida. Roberta immediately realizes that Victoria is hot on her heels.
Leo is sitting talking to Emilia’s mass card when Victoria comes by and takes it. Some minor chitchat, including him bringing up Sebas.
Roberta continues to complain about Victoria to Fidel when she realizes Joaquina is listening at the door. What do you want she screams? Joaquina is in a very, very vulnerable, and dangerous position.
Sara plays with a piece of cake as she talks with Jenny. Completely immersed in her own problems (which she is solely responsible for), she fails to notice that Jenny is suddenly overcome with pain, then stumbles. Sara, bleating in the background, suddenly realizes what is happening, jumping up as Jenny tells her that she is in trouble. Sara tries to soothe her sister…
Next there is a pivotal scene where Fidel and Addled are standing next to a supposed computer wizard they’ve hired to hack the phone. We see Dan (and a distraught Aleida) spar about Sara and then Orlando. Danilo is feverishly working to try and erase the files before the hacker is able to decipher them. It comes down to the last precious seconds and Danilo manages to erase the files in the nick of time! “Error” pops up on the hacker’s screen much to Fidel and Addled’s dismay. Thwarted and in the nick of time! Gracias Aleida says gratefully and hugs him.
Marijo accidentally spills hot coffee on Gael at the office. They are still at odds…
Roberta and Victoria meet. I believe the important takeaway is that Victoria warns Roberta of severe repercussions should she learn that Roberta was responsible for the intoxication of the miners.
Diana
Jarifa, your recap was wonderful; clear and concise. You organized this perfectly and shed light on every single (mostly dirty) detail.
Paloma’s parents are monsters. Threatening and deriding Franco was bad enough but to actually go to his place of business puts them in an even more demonic light. To say nothing of what they’ve done to their daughter, ruining her life just to exploit her as an ill-gotten meal ticket. At least Walter finally came clean. I wish Paloma had severed all ties but she is a kinder and more forgiving person than I.
I loathe that Carmina is leading Pablo on a wild goose chase. She is so transparent; it’s so frustrating he can’t see it. Every time I see Pablito, who looks not a day older than 12, my heart drops a bit.
“He tells Manuela who tells Vicky. Manuela wants to give him everything they have found out about Dulce. Vicky suggests she wait until she finds out what Leandro's plan for Genaro's case is. (DUH!)” mirrored my feelings exactly. I don’t trust Leandro’s motives. Or anything else about him for that matter.
So, the DNA angle rears its head again. Hmmm.
I hadn’t realized Yaneli told Axel that Edgar was harassing her. Good for her!
I was glad to see Manuela sporting several slightly better wigs. The dark one was pretty but I preferred the one with the reddish tint.
Diana
Thanks, Jarifa, that was great and I appreciate the work all the recappers do. I’m sure double episodes are more than twice the work.
I was shocked that Axel is Edgar’s nephew. I couldn’t figure out when Axel bent down to pick up some paper if his uncle had asked him to find out where she works or if it was a coincidence. When he showed up at the shop he asked what his uncle was doing there. So not sure I understand what’s going on with those two.
Paloma’s parents are worse than ever. It seems they’ll get Franco in trouble, or maybe fired at work so their daughter can care for them. I don’t think they deserve a week. They need to just get out.
The brat is still bratty. She did look better at the beginning when are hair was loose. But then she had those crazy pigtails back. Someone mentioned they thought Leandro might be the “boy” that had her do the challenge. I didn’t think so but when Manuela mentioned the broken lab bottles and then her running away I thought Leandro looked guilty. I’m glad she figured out he might be the reason she lost her job, she was starting to depend on him to coparent.
Enrique’s kids are going to be a problem. I’m not sure why they each want a shop at the house, but I think Amanda should stay in the shop she’s in.
I really thought the picture Carmina shared with Pablo was just some random person. She seems to be the link between the missing kids.
Liz
I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year!
As of now, I am going to continue to try and recap Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for the duration even though I am having an increasingly difficult time with the dialogue.
Weirdo, as you had said you can do two recaps a week, I am hopeful you will be able to do Thursday and Friday for the remainder. If not, we can post a discussion page.
Diana
Diana, thank you for providing us with a recap as this story continues to go in circles . How are the writers ever going to end it in any satisfying way? Nobody seems to be making any progress in achieving goals. I suppose the main couple will get a HEA. Are the writers planning to have Sara have an epiphany and let Leo go and accept Danilo ? Is Sebas going to step aside and accept the fact that Em\Vic will never love him and settle for clingy Miriam making Miriam the real winner in this twisted tale?
These actors are all trudging along doing the best they can with the lines they have been given. Susan
Jarifa, thank you for soldiering on through double episodes .
I am starting to wonder if Leondro is at the center of the missing kids mystery . He may be even worse than we think .
Paloma's parents are dreadful , shameless leeches .
It seems that many people in Mexico set up businesses in their homes. Susan
Diana: Wasn't able to watch last night's episode because of the wild ending between 3.) Texas Longhorns @ 2.) Washington Huskies in the 2023 Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Crazy Whacky Blonde still lying 24/7. Wake me up when she FINALLY leaves!
Psycho Roberta & Joaquina are obviously sisters. What other dirty little secrets is Psycho Roberta hiding ?
PS: Bummed out my 4.) Alabama Crimson Tide lost a heartbreaker 27-20 to 1.) Michigan Wolverines in the 2023 Rose Bowl yesterday evening.
Susan, as always you've asked some excellent questions including "Is Sebas going to step aside and accept the fact that Em\Vic will never love him and settle for clingy Miriam making Miriam the real winner in this twisted tale?" My heart says no, but my head says yes, (sadly).
I'm equally interested in what is going to happen with Sara and Danilo. She certainly doesn't deserve him so the writers have quite a challenge if that occurs!! :)
Steve, sorry your team lost! I'm sure Roberta has quite a few not so good things up her sleeve...
Diana
Diana, thanks.'He tells Manuela who tells Vicky. Manuela wants to give him everything they have found out about Dulce. Vicky suggests she wait until she finds out what Leandro's plan for Genaro's case is. (DUH!)” mirrored my feelings exactly. I don’t trust Leandro’s motives. Or anything else about him for that matter.' They have sort of made Manuela stupid at this point like she could actually be lured back in with Leandro and his "good" father act. As for Manuela's wigs, I do not think that any of them have donate access ay favors. I am fan of bangs. I have them myself but they just do not go with her face.
Liz, thanks. "I really thought the picture Carmina shared with Pablo was just some random person. She seems to be the link between the missing kids." Me, too. I didn't think she really existed. At this point it is a toss-up for me whether there person in the picture is who they think she is. I still have my doubts since some character said that her profile online looked like it could have been made up by Dulce. "Paloma’s parents are worse than ever. It seems they’ll get Franco in trouble, or maybe fired at work so their daughter can care for them. I don’t think they deserve a week. They need to just get out." I totally agree. What a couple of losers!
Susan, thanks and thanks for sticking this out with us. "I am starting to wonder if Leondro is at the center of the missing kids mystery . He may be even worse than we think ." I also have a feeling that even though he might not be responsible for those disappearances, he is far worse than what has been exposed about him so far.
Thank you for doing such a great job with the two-hour episode! The Vencer series always move rapidly, and with double episodes, things are really happening. I really dislike Paloma’s parents and agree a week is about six days too long! Leandro is too slick. I’m sure he’s up to something! Happy New Year everyone!
Babachita
Jarifa, stupendous job blazing through the double episode.
Poor Franco. He looked so dejected thinking that Paloma had betrayed him. Will Franco get fired? If so, I hope he sues.
Yes, Manuela and Pablo are too gullible right now. Hard to root for either of them.
But - yay! - Paloma and Yaneli are standing up. Loved Yaneli blurting out that she's being harassed.
The dinner at Everardo's was interesting. The other girl, with the ponytail, I guess is Tamara's daughter. The camera never showed her face and she never said a word. The maid noticed the missing drinking glasses. Maybe she'll comment on this? Will the son-in-law tamper with the results?
Thanks, Diana, you understood a lot more than I did! I think the boy with Gael told him Roberta payed them, but not 100% sure.
I was clueless as to why Roberta was chocking Joaquina. More clueless as to why she sticks around watching Roberta hurt all the people Joaquina seems to care for.
I am relieved the phone was erased. That might have blown everybody’s cover!
It looks like Jenny is losing the baby. I hope not, at this point that was the only bright spot. And the only couple I’m happy with. Although I usually like Zaria and Tigre.
I love how Gigi calls Victoria Vicky! I wonder how Victoria plans to make sure she wins. I’m sure the bad guys will be making sure Sara wins! If Danilo reveals the paternity test that will help Gigi!
Liz
Liz, I can't thank you enough for your vote of confidence...
"I was clueless as to why Roberta was chocking Joaquina. More clueless as to why she sticks around Roberta hurt all the people Joaquina seems to care for" is exactly right! Does Roberta have something "on" Joaquina and is blackmailing her? Or, has she threatened to physically hurt one of those Jo cares about??
I also felt terrible for Jenny. She and Orlando will be crushed if something happens. Why didn't Sara pick up the phone and immediately call for an ambulance??
I am hopeful Zaira and Tigre will reconcile. I have a feeling he is going to be livid when he finds out she and Gael have known Victoria IS Emilia.
Thank you for noting that Gigi calls Vic "Vicky". I will watch for that.
I hope "Vicky" has something up her sleeve to ensure Gigi wins. Addled and Roberta will be doing everything to ensure she doesn't!
Diana
Dear Diana, thanks SO much for your excellent recap. I didn't get a chance to watch so I can't help fill the gaps.
Nothing new, as Susan said "this story continues to go in circles".
I also hope Jenny doesn't lose the baby.
Now for the recapping; I can continue with Thursday and Friday for sure until the week of January 15. Tu Vida es mi Vida starts and I'll be a recapper for that one two. For this purpose, I had originally planned to do one recap for Minas and one for Vida until Minas ends, then go back to two for Vida. Since it's just the two of us recapping and there's a VERY slim possibility of someone else volunteering to recap this few episodes, I can try doing two episodes for Minas and one of Vida till the end, but I'm not sure I'll be able to do that for all weeks. Although, IIRC the whole duration will be three weeks starting for January 15, so it might be doable.
To summarise, we can continue like this for sure until the week of January 15, then I can try doing Thursday and Friday as usual for the last three weeks, but I might be able to do only one.
Anyone else willing to recap for a short period of time?
Susana's husband also has a role in this show . I wonder how he feels about playing a minor character while his wife is Romanced by different galans.
The woman villain looks familiar , but I don't know where I have seen her before .
Holiday activities are finally winding down here . susan
Thanks, Diana. I'm veery late with my additions butI didn't sleep last night so I had a catnap.
I have to say the image of Roberta tucking away her fangs is waay too funny. Brilliant.
Leo actually kept repeating Romina was fine and that he didn't want her to go to 'that' doctor. Does he have magic powers or what? How does he know the doctor is shady?
Roberta gets angry at Joaquina for not looking after Nico properly,i.e., it's her fault her went off on his own. Roberta told her that if something had happened to him, Joaquina would have been on her way to prison and there'd be people willing to give her 'a nice welcome'. She also says Joaquina should remember that her love is of no use to anyone because she is insignificant and she doesn't deserve to be a mother to anyone.
Danilo pretends to be from a newspaper and calls to invite Sara to an interview.
The guy that Gael talks to absolutely refuses to help Gael. He says that his father and his family would end up paying. He tells he'd disappear. He tells the guys he previously paid to do the same. There's one bit I'm not sure of. The guy tries to return the money to Gael and says his father, who worked at the mine with Ignacio, has tuberculosis and needs some kind of aparatus to breathe that he could use instead of an oxygen tank I think. I'm not sure if his attempt to return the money was just out of shame or if he said he couldn't afford to buy what his father needed anyway. Once his father fell ill, Roberta sacked him.
Roberta wants Fidel to get rid of Vic. He refuses. She threatens him that if he doesn't cooperate, the social media will be full of articles about how Fidel set the psychiatric hospital on fire and how he kept his wife there. When he gets the phone, Roberta is like 'I told you s. Vic wants to destroy me'. Fidel is only interested in unblocking the phone and finding out what 'they' know.
Emilia told Leo that in her opinion Victoria wasn't that smart, if she had been, she wouldn't have fallen in lov with Leo. Leo for some reason responds to this by saying she should stop denying she doesn't feel anything for him. He tells her not to offend him because she doesn't know him. She is no saint because she made him believed she liked him and then started a relationship with Sebas.
Leo tells Orlando that Victoria made him realise he couldn't hurt his kids by leaving Sara when Orlando asks if this isn't a result of Victoria rejecting him. I bet it is but it's not like our galan does things out of anger that his pride got hurt.
Sebas arrange a meeting with a specialist for tigre. He tells Gael they need to pay Velos another visit because his info is valuable.
Thank you for your kind words Weirdo.
If you can possibly continue to do the two episodes, that would be great. I am trying to continue with three episodes (which is difficult) and there is no way I can do more right now. If not, we can ask for comments, it will all work out.
Diana
Waterlily, I’m sorry you didn’t sleep last night. I hope you are able to tonight.
I am so happy to see your post! I knew you would fill in my many blanks and you did so again today, beautifully.
Obviously Roberta thinks Joaquina should have Nico on a leash. I really thought she would hurt Joaquina gravely last night. “She also says Joaquina should remember that her love is of no use to anyone because she is insignificant and she doesn't deserve to be a mother to anyone”. Hmmm, is there an implication Joaquina IS someone’s mother??
So Roberta is asking Fidel to do her dirty work, e.g. “offing” Victoria. I didn’t understand her threats to Fidel so thank you for providing the details.
Ahhh, so Danilo is setting up an interview for Sara! I readily admit I am fascinated as to how all of this is going to play out. I am rooting for Danilo. Sara? Nopis, not so much ☹
Leo accusing Victoria of thinking she liked him and then going with Sebas was pathetic. Dude, you’re married. He is a much better choice (believe us).
“Leo tells Orlando that Victoria made him realise he couldn't hurt his kids by leaving Sara when Orlando asks if this isn't a result of Victoria rejecting him. I bet it is but it's not like our galan does things out of anger that his pride got hurt.”. Perfect!!
Thank you for always coming to my rescue. I am so, so appreciative!
Diana
Waterlily thank you for the extra details . I hope that you get a good deep sleep tonight .
Well , this tale is going to eventually end , but I don't think it will suit me.
I think Leo is Jo's son , but why would she let nasty , crazed Rob take him and let him believe she was his mother ? Is his bio father actually Ignacio? They were always so close ( call of the blood) , and wasn't Jo in love with Igy?
Susan
Babachita, thanks. It is great to see you on the patio. Happy New Year to you, too. I do not like double episodes, but was ready for the pace to pick up.
Niecie, thanks. "The maid noticed the missing drinking glasses. Maybe she'll comment on this? Will the son-in-law tamper with the results?" There are so many possibilities that could come from Nico's stealing the glasses. I really had to tighten my beanie to believe that only the maid and nobody else saw him. So sad that Manuela and Pablo have gone goofy
Gracias,
I knew it; Tita Syndrome 2.0. Paloma's parents get more despicable with every episode. Not to mention trying to get Franco fired from his job. At least Walter had a conscience and fessed up about what Adele and Octavio did and Paloma now knows. I hope she doesn't back down and if Franco loses his job I hope he sues.
Tamara and her no-good husband also need to be caught. What makes me think that the results will be falsified and cause Manuela even more grief?
Liz: Bad feeling Jenny will lose the baby SMH.
25 more episodes left before the Good Guys FINALLY emerge victorious.
PALOMA and HER PARENTS
Paloma holds her own with her parents and tells them that she knows they are still gambling and that they went to her company to tell the boss that Franco had HIV. They are ignorant when it comes to HIV and tell her that they are saving her from getting the disease and call Franco a f*g. She explains that not only homosexuals can get HIV. Anyone can. Her parents' theatrics refuse to move her. She still wants them out in a week. They admit to each other that they do have some money put aside for such an event but still try to get her to change her mind and harbor hope that they will be back soon. Paloma gives them the link to an apartment they should be able to afford if they work.
PALOMA and FRANCO
Obregón has the same ignorance about HIV as Paloma's parents thinking that he must play for both teams. Franco ends up quitting. On his way out, Obregón says that Franco disgusts him and he never wants to see him again. Paloma keeps texting Franco that she needs to talk to him but he is not answering. He finally calls her saying that he has a difficult time saying goodbye in person. He could tell that she had certain prejudices after he told her about his condition. He loves her but given his situation, it is is better that they break up. He blocks her everywhere. When she tries to talk to him via her friend Tolita making the call, he hangs up on her.
PALOMA and MANUELA
Paloma tells Manuela about her situation with Franco and her parents. Manuela gives her the contact info for a specialist in HIV who can answer all of her questions. Then she can make her decisions whether she wants to continue with Franco. Manuela tells her there is no reason to feel guilty about her parents. They can work and now have to face the consequences of her actions.
MANUELA
Manuela talks to director at the school where she taught and he admits that he let her go because Leandro asked him to. He did it because Leandro said it was for the good of his daughter. Manuela is incredulous. That knowledge stops what was her growing trust in Leandro. She does not bring her file on Dulce to him. She meets with Yaneli and Paloma about Dulce and Genaro but cuts Amanda out so what they talk about doesn't go back to Leandro via his mother. She suggests that Genaro use her friend Vicky as his defense lawyer rather than getting mixed up with Leandro whom she personally feels she cannot trust. Yaneli isn't too sure.
Manuela decides to investigate Leandro and he catches her in his room. She explains that she is just trying to clean up, be helpful. You can tel he doesn't believe her.
Leandro is sent a photo of Manuela talking to Pablo at a café just after they had a conversation about how good it is being honest with each other. He tells her that is what he really appreciates about her: her great sense of honesty.
Manuela has a nightmare. She tells her mother that the nightmares are coming back. Angeles tells her that it must be due to the stress she has been under. Worriedly, Angeles adds that things are changing with the brat. She is becoming more interested in finding out about her background. Manuela makes it clear that she doesn't want to talk about it. (Another mystery?)
YANELI
Axel leaves with Edgar when Edgar lies about his visit to see Yaneli saying it was only to give her info to help her get her scholarship back. Edgar tells Yaneli later that the next time they meet, she will not get away from him. He fashions himself to be the big bad wolf and she Little Red Riding Hood. Suddenly Edgar is not at school for a few days. Yaneli does report Edgar to the principal who says she needs to go through proper channels and have PROOF. Yaneli's brother Victor texts her and sends her a small amount of money. She doesn't tell him about Genaro. ON her way home from school in brad daylight, Yaneli is abducted by a figure dressed in black as she passes the park..
ENRIQUE and AMANDA
Suddenly Leandro is supporting Amanda's romance with Enrique.
The grand opening of the three shops is happening in a week. Enrique is more interested in planning a romantic getaway for him and Amanda.
THE MISSING
We see a flashback with a man from the drug treatment center telling the 15 year old Damián that they couldn't help him with his problem there. The conversation is cut short when Chiro falls down and looks like he must have overdosed.
Pablo gets Nora Pardo's address and decides to break in with the help of Chiro. They do break in but Pablo cannot find anything in relationship to his son. It is as if who lives there just left and didn't take anything with them. Furthermore, there are no photos or any personal touches in the apartment.
CARMINA
Carmina still has not given up on Pablo. She makes the appointment with Pablito's new doctor on the day that he is planning on moving out. They go to see the new doctor who is going to run some tests on Pablito to see how he is doing.
THE BRAT
Manuela tells the brat that her punishment is no cell phone for a week. Leandro supports Manuela. The brat complains to her friends and worries about what Kiro is going to think. A friend lets her use her cellphone. Later, she makes fun of Amanda's granddaughter as soon as she is introduced to the class as a new student.
DNA TEST RESULTS
Everardo calls Leandro to come and see him. He tells Leandro that he has some information based on science to tell him. The brat is not his daughter. In a flashback we see him getting the info from Nico. Leandro makes light of it saying when his father mentioned a DNA test before, he himself had one done and indeed the brat is his daughter. Everardo says nothing but watches Leandro lick the spoon he just stirred his coffee with (Another DNA test??)
That is it for tonight.
It was creepy seeing Leandro skulking in the hall outside of Manuela's bedroom witnessing her nightmare.
So why was Angeles concerned when she told Manuela that the brat was asking about her background? Why did Manuela just cut her off? This pairs perfectly with Everardo knowing that Leandro is not the brat's father. How long until he does a DNA test on Leandro?
I am wondering if Paloma's parents will be forced to move out or if she will cave.
I felt sorry for Franco because people refuse to believe the science of HIV and its treatment.
This is a great PSA for HIV education.
So, who abducted Yaneli? Edgardo? Another criminal?
I loved Enrique and his insistence on a romantic getaway with Amanda.
Enrique must have a huge house if he can cut off a section for three shops.
Tonight’s events were murky at best. There was much posturing and bickering but the gist of the majority of the conversations eluded me. Kindly fill in what I missed and please correct anything I misinterpreted.
Victoria and Roberta continued their talk, turning to Orlando’s restaurant among several subjects. The tone and tenure of their scenes was tense and terse. Victoria, face expressionless goes back and forth with Roberta who says despite the fact they are associates, she is La Patrona! In subsequent scenes, they discuss Leo and Ignacio. It seems Victoria is realizing how fearful Roberta is that Emilia will come back and seek vengeance and retribution against her. Finally, leaning forward in her chair and staring intently, Victoria warns Roberta to be careful, saying something about the inferno. As she leaves, Roberta seems shaken, not stirred.
Leo seems to admit to Joaquina he has feelings toward Victoria. They discuss the intoxication of the miners and the investigation. Joaquina harkens back to a scene where Roberta was talking trash about Victoria. She assures Leo Victoria is a good woman and says something about the truth. Leo thanks her.
And now sadly our worst fears are confirmed. Jenny is in the hospital hooked up to machines as Sara makes her way forward. Jenny is dissolving in tears, asking if everything is all right then asking about her baby. I could not translate exactly what Sara said but from Jenny’s heartbroken reaction, I must surmise the baby did not survive. Eyes wide, the devastation sets in as Jenny begin to hyperventilate.
Sebas is at the only watering hole in town, Orlando’s bar, having a drink as Miriam comes up. They exchange a friendly hug; Miriam seemingly in good spirits and Sebas is happy for her. He talks about Andres as Addled comes up, clapping mockingly behind him. Sebas automatically puts a protective arm around Miriam. As Addled starts talking about “his” son, it is like waving a red flag and Sebas responds by charging. Fidel shows up to break up the fight. Sebas is thrown out and Flor follows him (not really sure why) and they have a brief conversation.
“Sara please”, a distraught Jenny begs. Then the doctor comes in, offering his condolences, leaving no doubt as to the grave, sad and sobering outcome.
In tears, Marijo tells Leo that there is a serious problem with Roberta. (Many serious problems I add scathingly, but I digress). What problems Leo asks? She is going crazy is the truthful, succinct reply. In tears, she talks about her father and then Roberta’s irrational actions. Leo harkens back to a scene where he was a child, Roberta standing with Mauricio, holding his hand. Roberta smacked him as he looked devastated, starting to cry. The memory, even after all this time causes Leo deep pain; he stands up looking at Marijo as though stricken.
Back home, Sara strokes Jenny’s hair as Jenny, in tears, admits she had an abortion. She is heartbroken and seems to indicate she thinks she is being punished. I thought I misunderstood when she begged Sara not to say anything but sadly, I did not. Orlando comes home, happy to see her. Jenny gives no indication anything is wrong and for once, Sara looks speechless and quietly skedaddles. Orlando, still in the dark, hugs Jenny and kisses her stomach!. OMG, whatever is Jenny thinking?? Oh right, she isn’t.
Leo hugs Joaquina from behind as she is ironing. Leo asks (again) for the truth. More hand wringing and delaying from Joaquina. Something was said about jail (?) You are my real mother he tells her I adore you. She calls him mi hjjo.
The fab four discuss their problems. Roberta and Nico are the topics du jour.
Victoria is meeting with Sebas at the mine when Marijo arrives, needing to speak with Victoria.
Gael kisses his parents who aren’t speaking to or looking at each other. It seems a specialist has been lined up for Tigre. Zaira gets up and leaves and shortly thereafter Tigre does too. Well that was a fun conversation. Not!
Diana
Uh oh. Aleida opens the door of the house and Fidel walks in. She recalls a scene from their painful past, telling Fidel she wants a divorce but doesn’t want him to take her child. Present day, he puts her lost phone on the glass table. She could barely even look at him.
Cayetana moans to Joaquina who seems to be packing up her bag for her. Joaquina seems to be blaming herself for the problems and firmly closes the suitcase. Personally I wouldn’t mind a bit if this was the last we see of Cayetana but I fear we won’t be so lucky.
Roberta, Victoria, Sara and Leo are meeting when she introduces Marijo as a member of the board! Roberta purses her lips in anger while Leo and Marijo smile. Three other people join the meeting but we only see their backs.
Marijo seems to assert her authority. Roberta dismisses Sara (much to her chagrin) but Leo sits and says nothing. (Certainly no surprise there). The three faceless participants also leave. Nico is brought up…Victoria brings up her dinero more than once. Leo later asks Marijo if she is sure she wants to do this and her answer is yes.
Aleida admits to Fidel that the phone is hers. Where did you find it she asks? At the restaurant. She tells him she is very busy. He prods and probes her about the phone. I’m not sure if she is sparking any recognition, it’s hard to tell although he does mention Orlando. Overall, she seems to deflect his questions grabbing her stomach after he leaves, muttering maldito.
I believe Sebas tells Gael Marijo is on the board. Gael says something about Victoria/Emilia just as Tigre comes up. I’m not sure what he thought he heard but somehow Sebas and Gael managed to weasel their way out of it, no doubt helped by Victoria whose timing was impeccable. I think she asked if Tigre is going to see the specialist, indicating Emilia would want him to go. Understandably, he doesn’t understand why she is channeling Emilia. They all cringe knowing what a close call that was.
There was a pivotal scene at the end between Leo and Roberta. Leo was defending Marijo when Roberta screamed she isn’t your sister, she is a traitor! She accuses Leo of working with Victoria against her. Leo actually enumerates a litany of atrocities Roberta committed, putting Emilia in jail, putting Zaira in jail (and something about Joaquina I didn’t get). He is actually screaming at her, furious, which is startling as he isn’t his usual unimpassioned self.
In the last scene of the night, Joaquina puts a picture of Roberta on the desk before her then places a letter in front of it. She actually strokes her picture with tears streaming down her face. What is in the letter? Is it time for the truth? Alas, there are no answers tonight.
Diana
Jarifa, a simply outstanding job in every facet of your recap. Your dialog translations are impeccable and you set the mood and tone perfectly.
So much happened tonight, where on earth to start??
We had been fearing for Yaneli’s safety and with good reason; our worst fears confirmed. My first thought is that it is Edgar but is he too obvious?
Aside from Yaneli’s abduction the most chilling thing for me was the look on Leandro’s face after he left his bedroom where he caught Manuela snooping. His smile disappeared and his eyes were cold. And dead; just as they were when he was “skulking in the hall outside of Manuela’s bedroom” as you noted. Initially, I couldn’t envision Gabe Soto playing a villain. I was very much mistaken.
Yes, what is Manuela’s recently recurring nightmares about?
DNA testing is another fascinating aspect. Everardo says Julieta isn’t Leandro’s; he says she is! “Everardo says nothing but watches Leandro lick the spoon he just stirred his coffee with (Another DNA test??)” is exactly right! The camera was not focusing in on the spoon without some reason, right?
I feel Pablo is going in circles and that frustratingly there has been little forward motion in getting closer to finding Damian. I am fervently hoping they find him.
I was sorry Franco didn’t try and fight the prejudice against him but he thinks Paloma completely betrayed him. Poor Paloma to have such callous, cruel parents. I wish she would sever all ties with them; they don’t deserve her.
Enrique continues to be the bright light here.
My comment is too long but this is so good and there are so many questions. I keep wondering if I’m overanalyzing everything but I grow more suspicious with each passing epi.
Diana
My dear Diana, thanks SO much for yet another excellent recap. I'm impressed by your ability to "read the scene". "The majority of the conversations eluded me", I'm sure you got all the important stuff. Double bravo for writing such a great recap without understanding some of the convos!
I laughed very much, but I think my favourite line was "In tears, Marijo tells Leo that there is a serious problem with Roberta. (Many serious problems I add scathingly, but I digress)" Perfect!
My suspicions about Joaquina being Leo's mother are increasing. Although leaving her child getting mistreated is unforgivable. It doesn't matter that Roberta helped her once. Helping someone and then asking for things because you helped them isn't help, because it's not unconditional.
Jenny losing the baby is horrible. She thinks she's being punished for having an abortion? Really? *Eyeroll* And when are they going to explain to us what happened? Whose baby was it? Orlando's? Mauricio's? And why did she have the abortion? Why add a plot line if it'll go unexplained?
And OMG, why did they go there with Jenny not telling Orlando anything?! They were the ONLY couple without issues and now they make them have some. Orlando is going to be pissed when he finds out and for all the right reasons. Are they going to break up?
Tigre STILL not realising Victoria is his daughter is odd. Gael being the only one who realised Victoria is Emilia on his own is even more odd.
As for the recapping, I'm truly VERY grateful you're recapping with me. TBH I wouldn't have been able to continue if it wasn't for your help. I don't even have the time to WATCH more than two episodes currently. Thank you SO much for recapping THREE times a week, that's super impressive! I'll do my best to continue my two-per-week. Thanks again.
Diana, thanks so much. I loved' skedaddles'! I learnt a new word which will end up in my favourites list.
Victoria accuses Roberta of being the one who caused the posoning of the miners because she wants to end their contract. Roberta of course denies it and talks about how though she doesn't like Vicky, she hired her to help them sort out the mine. But Vicky has to stop insisting the miners need to eat at a canteen. Apparently hungry people work more effectively. Maybe she should start giving lectures on how to spend as little as possible on your employees. Vic tells her that she might be la patrona but the mine belongs to Nico and Mari. Roberta says Nico isn't of age to manage the mine and Mari doesn't know what she wants. Vic says Mari might decide to be involved in the management of the mine and Roberta says she took measures to make sure this doesn't happen.
Mari tells Leo Roberta hit Joaquina. Leo asks Joaquina about this andthis was one of the most disturbing things I've seen here in a while. Joaquina says she 'deserved it' for making Roberta angry. Leo says that if this happens again he willsend Rob to jail. Joaquina terrifies me even more by saying that jail is a much worse place than people think and that it's hell. So Roberta would feel right at home. Leo stupidly promises not to send her to jail but says he will make sure justice is wins. How he intends to do it without involving the authorities I have no idea.
Mari tells Roberta ordered to beat up Gael and Leo's response is 'really?'. But he told Joaquina he has investigated and thinks Vic caused the posoning of the workers. Nice.
Victoria tells Robe she should be careful because Emilia might come back and drag her to that hell (Roberta says she hopes Emi is burning in hell).
Weirdo: Just as I predicted from the get-go: Jenny loses the baby & I don't think she'll have kids ever!
Diana: Awesome job with the recap of last night's episode. Keep it up!
Thanks, Jarifa, that was great. More mysteries coming our way! Did Leandro really have a DNA test. Did the son-in-law mess it up on purpose or by mistake? Or is Leandro not Everardo’s son? That last one would be great, the cheater was cheated on!
Franco really doesn’t want to give Paloma a chance to explain. Her parents should find him and tell him the truth.
Leandro definitely didn’t believe Manuela’s reason for being in his bedroom. And was he planning to enter her bedroom and do something to her or just being creepy outside her bedroom?
I hope Yaneli doesn’t disappear like Dulce. I thought she had proof. Didn’t the teacher send her a text? His nephew apparently sided with his uncle. I was worried she’d listen to Amanda and use Leandro as her brother’s lawyer. Looks like she has bigger problems now.
I find the missing Damian part of this really confusing. Can’t really get the connection Pablo thinks he has. And still don’t understand the big delay in looking for your son, or throwing him out!
Liz
Good news! According to zap2it, “Vencer la culpa” will be back to only one hour in the 6:00 pm central slot starting 1/15.
Thanks, Diana, and Waterlily, for filling in my blanks.
I can’t believe Jenny isn’t going to tell Orlando she lost the baby. I’m surprised she went home so soon too! That was the only positive in this show. Now we have to watch her pretend to be pregnant!
Is Joaquina leaving too? That would be very strange. After all these years of working for Roberta and keeping quiet on all Roberta did, she’s just going to leave.
I was very nervous when Fidel was in the house with Aleida. He has watched her before but this was the first time he was close to her. Hopefully he didn’t recognize her.
Leo is so stupid where Roberta is concerned. And he actually believes Victoria poisoned the miners. I hate to think they’re going to end up together.
Liz
Thank you for your warm, supportive words Weirdo.
I'm feeling quite inadequate in what I'm able to provide but when I read that I made someone laugh, that makes my day. In the end, bringing a little light is what is important. So glad you got a chuckle out of something I wrote.
I am very sad Jenny lost her baby. You asked some excellent questions for which we really have no answers at this point.
I am as mystified as you are as to what on earth Jenny is thinking not telling Orlando. Does she think he will leave her?? He is the most steadfast galan here (except Sebas of course). I cringed and cannot imagine what she is going to do. Orlando will be heartbroken but she should have told her immediately.
"Tigre STILL not realising Victoria is his daughter is odd. Gael being the only one who realised Victoria is Emilia on his own is even more odd" is exactly right. Even stranger is the fact Leo actually voiced that Victoria is Emilia but then the entire thing was dropped!! Did the writers fall asleep in their coffee???
I'm glad we are sharing this recapping journey. We are almost at the finish line but still much action as well as angst (I fear) to go. :)
Diana
I was wrong andLeo seems to only have agreed not to fight with his mum because of Joaquina. But he is so passive that I wonder how long it would take him to make up his mind about sending Roberta to prison.
Sebas says the production at the mine is way below the expected level. Apparently the amount of gold they extract doesn't correspond to the amount of themineral that's left after extraction. So either there should be more gold or something's up.
Flor tells Sebas not to come to that restaurant/bar because bad croud gathers there. She tells him about the phone she found and that Ezequiel took it. She fancies Sebas and uses a saying that I found interesting 'que suerte tienen los que no se bañan´, which probably refers to the fact Miriam is lucky to have a good man by her side even though she disregards the societal norms by having been involved with a married man previously.
Aleida tells Fidel the journalists were waiting for her outside and she wanted to escape them. I'm guessing she went through the back entrance. He tries to probe a bit more but she doesn't let him and that's whyher phone was found there. She also says she hopes they didn't go through her things. He of course says he didn't but immediately seems to contradict himself by saying she is smart because she knew how to block her phone and delete part of the info. He wants to know what she was looking for because people don't often walk in the area where her phone was found.
Gael wonders if Mari knows the truth about Emilia when they talk about her asking Victoria for help with her involvement in the mine's business.
Roberta absolutely refuses to change things because she is la patrona here and no advisory board is needed. Leo complains she didn't inform them about her decision. She asks if he'd have preferred it if she had contacted them to tell them that the mine is bankcrupt. Victoria tells them they are doubting her abilities and she won't risk her prestige and her money. Once they tell her their partnership is over, she will take her money and leave forever.
Victoria tells tigre he has to go see the specialist whether he wants it or not. She calls him gato grande and he tells her not to do this.
Leo tells Roberta all she has done is a crime, like sending people to jail, hitting Joaquina andso on.
Joaquina tells Roberta it's time for her to leave this house. Together they have walked on a difficult path and throughout all these years Joaquina has respected Roberta and looked after her. She will always be grateful to Roberta for saving her life even though she didn't deserve it. Roberta has always said that love is for the weak but Joaquina feels a lot of affection for Roberta and believes Roberta feels something good for her deep down too *sigh on my part only*. It's time for people to know the truth.
In the flashback Leo was accused of hurting Mauricio and begs Mauricio to tell the truth. Roberta tells him he is a devil and only causes harm. So Mauricio was a liar as a child. I know one flashback isn't much to go off of, but it appears he used Roberta's hatred for Leo and made his life worse.
Waterlily, thank you for your (always) marvelous additions...Everything you provided was so pivotal and important!
Finally, Victoria "calls" Roberta on being responsible for the poisoning. It was rather creative of Vic to bring Mari into the fold.
"Joaquina says she 'deserved it' for making Roberta angry. Leo says that if this happens again he willsend Rob to jail. Joaquina terrifies me even more by saying that jail is a much worse place than people think and that it's hell". Yes Waterlily, this is almost as upsetting as Joaquina caressing that picture of Roberta. As you noted "Roberta would feel right at home" which I loved.
And finally, last but certainly NOT least "Victoria tells Robe she should be careful because Emilia might come back and drag her to that hell (Roberta says she hopes Emi is burning in hell)" was eye opening. And cringeworthy.
I'm happy you liked "skedaddles", it' always a word that makes me smile.
Waterlily, I cannot thank you enough for your amazing contributions. I eagerly await to read what transpired through your very wise eyes.
Diana
Oh my, I hadn't refreshed the page and now see your outstanding Part 2 Waterlily! These details were extraordinary. Thank you, thank you, thank you! It was so kind of you to provide all of this!
"Sebas says the production at the mine is way below the expected level. Apparently the amount of gold they extract doesn't correspond to the amount of themineral that's left after extraction. So either there should be more gold or something's up". I knew that Sebas was talking about gold at one point but for the life of me couldn't figure it out.
Likewise, what Flor said to Sebas. It was obvious she seemed to like him but I couldn't make heads or tails out of what she said.
"Roberta has always said that love is for the weak but Joaquina feels a lot of affection for Roberta and believes Roberta feels something good for her deep down too *sigh on my part only*. It's time for people to know the truth". I am sighing along with you as I have no idea how Joaquina can feel any affection toward Roberta.
Yes, Mau was a terrible child, truly his mother's son.
You illuminated so much and I am so grateful!
Diana
Gracias, Jarifa. Here's hoping we get some progress.
I got increasingly angry with Paloma's parents whose carrying on in public seemed purposeful with intent to shame her. I am also annoyed with the production for the music that backs their scenes, as though this plot point is meant to be funny. It absolutely is anything but that.
Obregon is such a jerk he would be out of a job in the US.
I thought Leandro got a DNA test earlier in the story and got a positive result. Of course with Biogen Labs being a plot point this had to become an issue and it would not surprise me if this test result was falsified. Or -- as happened in the previous tale -- could Manuela have been handed the wrong baby when she left the hospital? It would seem likely that Tamara's ne'er-do-well husband would pull this to eliminate another possible heir to his suegro's dinero. Someone needs to tell him that he has no right to any inheritance Tamara would get.
Not sure how to read Leandro in that scene with his mother. I wonder where that will go.
Thanks so much Liz!!
I'm as perplexed as to what Jenny is doing as you are. As you smartly noted that "was the only positive in this show".
I was also very nervous when Fidel was questioning Aleida. She was so nervous, wasn't she? She really gave herself away although if he did have any inkling as to who she was, he didn't give anything away.
Realistically, Roberta would be happy to see Joaquina go. She loathes her and should know Roberta wouldn't betray her. After all she's kept quiet for decades. I haven't decided how I feel about Joaquina. It will depend on exactly what Roberta has done and what she knew. Silence is sometimes as deadly as heinous actions committed by others.
Diana
Diana, thanks for always being so nice and encouraging.
I was surprised Roberta fears what to her would be a retribution from a dead person. I can't figure out why that is. She doesn't seem to regret what she did so what is it she is affraid of? Surely she doesn't think Emi will show up like a ghost of Christmas past and say 'come with me, my dear, hell awaits you.' She makes sure those who know the truth won't talk so her reaction surprised me.
Both Leo and Joaquina frighten me with their attitude towards Roberta. I wonder where Leo's limits really are and what would make him go against Roberta becaus so far he only talks. The man should have been a writer, I swear.
Joaquina did tell him that many people have betrayed him and he has far more consideration for them than for Emilia, who he immediately thinks is guilty. I wonder if those 'people' aren't only Sara because I don't recall Joaquina trying to tell Leo his mother has betrayed him. She encourages his unhealthy devotion to her by insisting Roberta loves him. They could have made a separate show about how disfunctional this family is.
I wonder if Mari won't soon have an accident or something. Or is there another way Roberta found to make sure she doesn't get involved in the management of the mine.
Roberta said she was fine with ruining the mine and then bringing it back from the ashes using Victoria's ideas. But did she make sure no one can find out what's going on and trace it back to her? Because Vic is still there and she has already discovered things aren't the way they are supposed to be. Or is Roberta waiting for Fidel to do what she told him to Aren't they actually exporting that left-overmineral? I can't remember where it's supposed to have gone.
Thanks, Diana.
We have been speculating for a while about whether Joaquina is Leo's birth mother and how Joaquina is related to Roberta. I am guessing that Joaquina once took the rap for Roberta, gave birth in prison, and handed Leo to Roberta. Thus they are joined at the hip by their secrets until one of them dies unless Joaquina talks
Why can't these writers change their attitudes about abortion? I don't recall why Jenny had it but I would call the situation life-and-death if her parents would have disowned or abused her upon discovery. Or if she had been raped and forced to have a rapist's baby she would commit suicide. Beyond this Jenny has too many issues to be a good mother.
Now that Fidel has been face to face with Alieda why is he failing to recognize her?
It's about time that Leo told Roberta off. We know what she really thinks of him and it's time she really unleashes all her evil.
Super job, Jarifa. You are a trooper covering these sudden double epis. Glad to hear they'll return to single epis 1/15.
Never thought I'd think "put your shirt back on!" when it comes to GS. But Leandro sure was bringing the creepy.
Urban, ITA that comic music for Paloma's parents is annoying. We know unequivocally now that they are bad guys.
Manuela is indeed a good counselor when it comes to other folks' problems. There was not a false note in her support to Paloma.
Franco seems thoughtful and measured. Manuela, Paloma, and Yaneli sure could use him to join their investigation. The actor is doing a good job with this role.
My favorite scene was Yaneli with her friend making a complaint against Edgar. But who is her ski-masked attacker? Hoping this won't be yet another missing person.
Diana and Niecie,
"Aside from Yaneli’s abduction the most chilling thing for me was the look on Leandro’s face after he left his bedroom where he caught Manuela snooping. His smile disappeared and his eyes were cold. And dead; just as they were when he was “skulking in the hall outside of Manuela’s bedroom” as you noted. Initially, I couldn’t envision Gabe Soto playing a villain. I was very much mistaken."
"Never thought I'd think "put your shirt back on!" when it comes to GS. But Leandro sure was bringing the creepy."
I so agree with both of your comments. Gabriel Soto is excellent in this role. I was just thinking how hard it must be in sho biz to age out of certain roles and seeing your leading role expiration date . One day your are a galán or a leading lady, the next day you are somebody's grandfather/mother or a villain.
Liz, "Leandro definitely didn’t believe Manuela’s reason for being in his bedroom. And was he planning to enter her bedroom and do something to her or just being creepy outside her bedroom?" i was wondering the same thing. I got creeped out when he just dropped by "shirtless." Manuela should lock her door and sleep with her cellphone next to her. I do not trust Leandro at all. I agree that Pablo is very confusing . Every time I start to like him, I have to remind himself HE threw his 15 year old son out of his house. Is that forgivable even if he finds his son? Maybe he really does deserve Carmina.
Urban, "Obregón is such a jerk he would be out of a job in the US." I have found that work place weird because of him. I wonder if he has some "in" with the owner that makes him feel free too o what he wants. Wouldn't the owner know what is going on at his company? Do the employees need their jobs too much to ever file a complaint against him? With Franco gone, maybe we will be seeing less of the workplace and him.
Waterlily's words of wisdom: "Joaquina did tell him that many people have betrayed him and he has far more consideration for them than for Emilia, who he immediately thinks is guilty. I wonder if those 'people' aren't only Sara because I don't recall Joaquina trying to tell Leo his mother has betrayed him. She encourages his unhealthy devotion to her by insisting Roberta loves him" is exactly right! Joaquina knows Roberta doesn't love Leo. It's so obvious. He trusts her which is a shame as this is an outright lie.
I feel Roberta is counting on Victoria dying.
Also, although Roberta seems to be on the cusp of realizing Victoria is Emilia, she must still not be sure. If she were, and if she is deathly afraid of her return, wouldn't she be quaking in her boots?? She shows no sign of being afraid of Victoria so I'm a bit unsure of what she IS thinking.
Thank you again for your always fascinating insights and dialog which is amazing!
Diana
Niecie, I also loved "Never thought I'd think "put your shirt back on!" when it comes to GS. But Leandro sure was bringing the creepy". Excellent!
Jarifa, Pablo casting out his young son continues to weigh heavily on me. Especially as I fear he is not going to be found. I sincerely hope I'm wrong.
Diana
Dear Diana, thank you so much for the excellent recap of this merry go round ride that we are on. Please know that the recaps are bright spots in my every day , a chance for a brief escape from reality with its ups and downs into the crazy telenovela world !!! I appreciate the time, talent, and effort that you and all the recappers devote to providing an opportunity for everyone here to share thoughts about these wild characters and storylines .
Waterlily, Diana and I have been amigas here on the patio for many years , and I can tell you that Diana is one of the kindest hearts I have ever "met" online or in the real world .
Susan
Thanks Urban!
Having Leo be Joaquina's son seems to be the prevailing opinion. Whether or not it is true, I loathe that Joaquina has stood by, allowing Roberta to abuse him since he was a child. He views her as his mother but what mother would tolerate her own child being hurt physically and emotionally??
"Now that Fidel has been face to face with Alieda why is he failing to recognize her?" I have to be honest here. When she was in the manicomio, I had no idea she was being played by the actress she is. I said, oh no, that's not her! So I'm cutting Fidel some slack here (not that I want to mind you) :) but...And thank heavens he hasn't. At least thus far...
Diana
Okay , this twisted tale needs to start unraveling soon.
I still think that Rob and Jo are sisters , and for some reason, their father sent Rob out on the streets , while Jo stayed in Safe in the hovel. Did Rob protect her sister from life on the streets ? Did Jo get sent to prison for killing someone ? ..their despicable father perhaps ? Wasn't Jo in love with Ignacio ? Is Leo actually the son of Jo and Ig? Ig married another woman, but after she died , he married Rob, not Jo. Will the writers untangle this mess for us?
Flor is another Sebas fan .His goodness shines for everyone to see.Everyone recognizes the truly good guys . Susan
The Dr does a d and c after a miscarriage and the patient isn't kept long afterwards, but she should have at least been kept overnight I would think. Seems strange.
Susan
Oh Susan, thank you for your lovely words amiga. We have been through much together over the last 16 years haven't we?? And we are still here, still strong, still together. Sending you many virtual hugs.
You continue to provide such insight even though you aren't able to watch!! I don't know how you do it but I always appreciate your wit and wisdom.
I know we are both a fan of true love and romance, which has been so sorely lacking in most of these recent stories. But we will stay hopeful, won't we???
Diana
Dear Diana , yes, we are ever hopeful for stories of true love because it does exist . I wish the telenovelas would show good guys winning . We need more positivity .
We have "met" so many smart, funny, good souls here on the patio .
" Who you are can depend on whom you have met.".
Susan
We are starting at the very end tonight. When cleaning out her parents' toiletries, Paloma finds a box hidden behind the medicine chest. Inside the box she finds a piece of jewelry and a letter addressed to Damián from Dulce. The letter makes it's way via Manuela who gives it to Pablo to read. This is what it says:
Damián, I know you will never get this letter but I'm writing it to remove everything I have suffered because of you. I know these words mean more for me than you because they represent the freedom I was shouting for and that you impeded me from attaining because you had me trapped in a place I thought I would never be able to leave. You hurt me a lot and made me feel like I was worth nothing and that you alone were the most important one and that my life would be nothing without you. So, I have decided to liberate myself and make a break with you because the best thing for me is to be finished with your forever because if I don't, sooner or later, you'll put an end to me.
Along with the letter, is a photo of Damián with "I hate you" written on the back.
Pablo is impactado about what Dulce says his son did to her.
Everything else:
In a flashback we see that Genaro being bullied and threatened by a gang inside the prison. He is told he knows nothing about anything. Yaneli is knocked to the ground by her attacker who takes a photo of her. She is told she needs to shut up.
Genaro ends up confessing to Dulce's disappearance saying he took her and raped her. The prosecutor considers the case is over; just another feminicide. Manuela doesn't agree and confronts him with the fact that they do not have a body. That is no big deal to the prosecutor with the confession. Manuela wonders if somebody forced Genaro to confess. The prosecutor cannot be bothered.
Manuela has Yaneli move in with her mother for her protection. Amanda and Paloma tell her she is welcome to stay with them, too. It seems like she ends up at Amanda's. Amanda also offers her a job as the receptionist in the entry of the house for all three businesses.
Everardo tells Nico he wants him to repeat the DNA tests. Later, he calls Amanda to come over. He needs her. She jumps!!! (really?) He then puts Amanda on the spot and asks if he was her first and only lover. We never hear her answer.
Surprise!! There is an interim director that has been assigned to the company where Paloma works because Obregón was fired due to a complaint that Franco made. Obregón appears to stage one final tantrum. Paloma has a chance to tell Obregón exactly what she thinks of him (misogynist, homophobe, etc.) and she does. Nobody supports him.
Franco meets with his parents in a café to tell them about his HIV diagnosis. He never gets there because his prejudiced parents see two gay men and become preoccupied with staring at them and expressing their disgust at the "sodomites" . They are responsible for AIDS! One of the men notices them and comes over to ask if there is a problem. Franco apologizes on their behalf, gives up, pays the bill and leaves.
Carmina is pulling out all stops to get Pablo back into her home and bed. They meet with the doctor who tells them that Pablito isn't doing too well and gives them a new regimen to follow. Pablo is so worried that he spends more time at Carmina's. We see Carmina talking with the doctor who is worried that he could get into trouble for lying to Pablo if he were to find out he was lying to him. Carmina assures him there is nothing to worry about. She bad mouths Pablo any time she can to Pablito saying, for example, that he is never around because of his new girlfriend. When Pablito asks for his medicine, she tells him the doctor said not today. She will make him a tea to cleanse his kidneys.
Yaneli is on the playground where she is drawn into a kind of impromptu hearing with two school official and Edgardo. She admits to having flirted with him so he would accept her extra work and she would get her scholarship back. She makes it clear that he has not stopped sexually harassing her ever since. The officials are not impressed. They want to give Edgar the benefit of the doubt since they never had a complaint about him before during all the time he has worked there. They will get back to her. Yaneli is told again that she needs PROOF.
Leandro tells Manuela he would like to give a relationship with her another try. She makes it clear she is okay with how things are. Pablo wants a relationship with her, too. She tells him that now is not the right time. He says he will wait for her. Her friend Vicky asks her what she is waiting for. She is a woman beside being a mother. Leandro's spy sends him photos of Manuela and Pablo. Leandro thinks he is going to need to do something about Pablo. Leandro continues to poison the brat towards her mother. The brat wants him to romance her mother so they can be together again. Leandro tells her he is working on it but that her mother is interested in another man.
Paloma finally gets her parents to move out but they are back the next day to return their keys. They are surprised when she takes their keys and leaves the apartment with them to make sure they are out. She even sends some money to their bank account to help them out if they will just get out. Unfortunately for her, they continue plotting.
That is all from me tonight.
Tonight was a vale of torrential tears.
Joaquina sits before a picture of Roberta as she ruminates on the various feelings coursing through her mind. She cares about Roberta and (mistakenly) believes Roberta feels similarly for her. It is time for the next phase. A single tear falls gently down her cheek as she caresses the picture.
Roberta tells Leo that happiness doesn’t exist. Leo chastises her for her treatment of Nico and Marijo. Shockingly, Roberta is also crying copious tears. She snarls what she has thrown in Leo’s face all of his life: the ONLY important thing to her is Mauricio! She spits out her disdain for Emilia in the next breath. Leo looks crushed although he shouldn’t; he has heard this vitriol ad nauseum.
Joaquina leaves Roberta’s office: she and Cayetana are ready to depart. Nico comes in and asks where she is going. I think he asks if she is leaving because of Roberta? She says she is going back to her pueblo. She dissolves into tears as he hugs her. She tells him leaving is very difficult for her as she hugs back. I love you with all my heart she says as she strokes his cheek. Nico looks after her sadly.
Sara shows up at Victoria’s house. Are you alone she asks Danilo? Danilo is so happy to see her. He wants her to run away with him. She mutters something about Roberta as well as Fidel and Addled. The big news and shock (at least to me) is that she actually tells Danilo “te amo”!! He keeps saying “vamonos” but she shakes her head. I believe she tells him she would be afraid for her life. They touch foreheads and she strokes his face tenderly. She kisses him and wipes her eyes. ” Adios” she says, leaving despite his protestations.
Leo talks to Nico who tells him Joaquina has taken a powder.
Uh oh, Roberta comes home calling out for Joaquina. She’s not here Nico says, explaining she has gone home. Her surprise immediately morphs into anger calling her an ingrate and a servant; she is not important she roars. Nico looks understandably confused.
Leo searches Joaquina’s room asking why mama why? Sitting on the bed, he recalls a painful past real life nightmare where Roberta is abusing his younger self with Joaquina intervening. After she verbally lambastes him, Roberta leaves holding Mau’s hand. He puts his head on Joaquina’s chest and cries his tender heart out.
Roberta is on the phone with Fidel complaining about the mine, Victoria, and everything in between. He seems to placate her (not sure what she wants). She picks up Joaquin’s letter, reads it and then furiously crumples it up.
“Nana answer me” Leo says as he calls her, where are you? He leaves her a voice mail.
Diana
If only Leo had thought to check his room to see if Joaquina left something for him, but alas he did not. Of course it’s Roberta who finds her letter to him, hiding it as Leo walks in. He asks her what happened.
Tigre and Gael are at the doctor’s where he’s looking at Tigre’s x-rays. Gael is doing all the talking. With total respect doctor, Tigre says he wants the bottom line. There seems to be a small chance he might be able to walk. This does not hearten Tigre who leaves with Gael charging out after him. He tells his father how brave he is but Tigre’s expression doesn’t live up to that admiration. At one point, Gael mentions Emilia which Tigre jumps on right away. I think Gael covers by saying something to the effect she is looking down on them from above.
I am hoping someone will be able to translate what Joaquina’s letter to Leo said. I heard that she adores him and that she referred to Roberta as assassin. Whyever would Joaquina leave that letter out in the open? After she reads it, Roberta rips it to shreds.
Sara comes home and Leo tells her Joaquina left. The servant she asks, smirking derisively. She is not a servant Leo counters. Sara is dismissive saying that Joaquina got a pension from Ignacio and there her “concern” ends. Sara invokes poor Emilia’s name again. It seems apparent that Leo has FINALLY reached his limit and he tells Sara he is leaving!
Roberta is on the phone with someone (I think it’s Ezequiel?) shouting orders. She says “Joaquina” to herself mockingly and I am sure she is planning something horrible I’m sure.
As Leo packs, Sara is begging him not to go. I believe he called Sara on her bluff saying he doesn’t think Romina is sick. She grabs his hands and cries; he tells her he doesn’t give a whit about her run for office. She says something about Roberta, Fidel and Addled. What is it he asks? Yes, please, I would like to know as well 😊
Zaira is having a few belts of tequila, crying in her cups about “Lolita”; Gigi and I have our doubts. Gigi is also pretty much three sheets to the wind as well as she mewls about Addled. When she manages to turn her cell phone right side up, she starts showing Zaira a few hot guys. You go girl I tell Gigi approvingly.
Sara’s last-minute pleas (the family, the kids) are completely ineffective. She can’t persuade him to stay and Leo wheels his suitcase down the hall.
Diana
Orlando is talking with Jenny as she grabs the table with both her hands. Are you all right he asks? Although she is crying, looks terrible and is in distress, she tells Orlando she is fine. He is oblivious to these clear clues as Satan calls him.
There is a fairly long scene with Addled and Fidel aka #foreverplaid. I understood little and Addled continually stuffing his face made it all the more difficult to concentrate. It was about the mine and I ask that if anything important was said, kindly fill in. I did catch something to the effect that Addled seems to think everything is hunky dory with Leo and Sara. Obviously he’s behind the times.
Danilo comes in and Aleida tells him Fidel was there and returned her phone. She is clearly distraught. He tries to calm her down. He hugs her and she nestles in his arms.
We finally see Victoria who is talking with Sebas about Roberta.
Leo sits down to talk with Nico. The poor child has been through so much and doesn’t understand why everyone is leaving him. Leo kisses him on the forehead and they bear hug.
Marijo and Gel ran into each other outside the mine, Gael congratulating her. Gael takes her hand and kisses it as she smiles.
Zaira is sitting crying at her kitchen table. Tigre comes in and she talks about another chance. Did Tigre actually say they are going to/he wants to divorce???
Addled is looking at some cheap paraphernalia for Sara’s campaign including hideous red water bottles emblazoned with “SARA” when she comes home. She stares dazed and confused, still reeling from Leo’s departure. Did she tell him she is stopping her campaign? She handed him an envelope…
Oh no, Roberta has slithered after Leo. Aware of his and Sara’s separation, Roberta is not only going to turn up the heat, but she is also starting a blazing inferno. The custody battle begins. Leo says Nico is his son which is a good point, but no cigar. Roberta has the winning hand thus far declaring Nico is hers, legally. They stand glaring at each other furiously.
Diana
Jarifa, I was lost through much here but as always you explained and clarified beautifully. Truly exceptional. Gracias.
I’m struggling to process that Damian is not the sweet, young child I’d envisioned. I could not have been more shocked. Dead women tell no tales and Dulce’s words seemed to run (alarmingly) true. I’m shaking my head in shock and yearning to hear more, to hear everything.
Homophobia and toxic parents seemed to be the dual themes tonight. Franco’s parents were so ignorant, and Paloma’s so duplicitous. Horrible, the pair.
Genaro is living in hell. I still feel he is abusive but not convinced he is a murderer. At least not yet.
I fear Leandro is not going to be put off much longer. How far will he go to “do” something about Pablo? Is he going to poison Julieta’s mind to the point where she no longer has a relationship with her mother??
I thought Yaneli’s “trial” was going to be held out in the open! I have no doubt the men will take Edgar’s side..
Finally, Yaneli has another place to stay. I would have opted for Amanda’s beautiful digs but I digress 😊
SO happy Obregon got fired! Fingers crossed we’ve seen the last of him.
Although I wanted to be enchanted by Pablo and Manuela’s kiss, there was no absolutely no fire; indeed there wasn’t even a whiff of smoke!
Diana
Thanks again my dear Diana, your recap was fantastic.
Kind of a weird episode, wasn't it? I'm just glad Leo left the house.
How did Sara rotate 180° and said I love you to Danilo? And Joaquina really should have given the letter to Leo personally, but no. One telenovela cliché I'm more than willing to eradicate.
I'm confused by Zaira/Tigre. Why did they both decide they want a divorce?
I'll probably be back later.
Thanks, Diana for your kind comments and another thanks for mentioning the kiss. I had forgotten all about it so I think that says I agree with your astute assessment of it. Meh! ; )
Only in a telenovela would Dulce had known Damián The letter was very disturbing.
I hope we get more details about what happened to Dulce even though the prosecutor has declared her case closed.
I am concerned about Pablito being directed to skip his meds and being given tea to cleanse his kidneys by his witch of a mother.
And then there was Amanda’s granddaughter Susi who was treated like dirt by the annoying as ever brat but who may just know more about kpop than the brat. I would love to see the brat taken down a peg or two after she has been so nasty to Susi.
“Homophopia and toxic parents seem to be the theme tonight.” You can say that again.
Weirdo, Diana, UA, Jarifa, SpanProf & Waterlily: With the upcoming Telenovela "TU VIDA" debuting on January 15th, I'm assuming Univision will move "VENCER 5?" to the 6:00 PM CST timeslot correct ?
Thank you for your lovely comment Weirdo.
"Joaquina really should have given the letter to Leo personally, but no. One telenovela cliché I'm more than willing to eradicate". Love that...I don't think she could have faced him, it would have been too difficult to say goodbye in person. Still, I'm surprised Joaquina left it out in the open withiout even putting it in an envelope.
Tigre seemed to be in favor of the divorce which shocked me. But then again, he did tell Sebas he envied him for what he had. Tigre HAS gold himself but is too short sighted to see it.
I was shocked to see Sara admit she loves Danilo. My heart went out to him. I have a feeling they aren't going to end up together. She just isn't worthy.
Diana
"Only in a telenovela would Dulce had known Damián The letter was very disturbing" is so true Jarifa!
I'm still trying to reconcile that the seemingly sweet fresh faced boy we've been seeing might possibly be a monster. I need and must know more!
Thank you for bringing up Pablito. There is definite cause for concern...
I didn't understand Julieta's taunts of Susi but it didn't seem she looked too crushed? Perhaps she can hold her own. Julieta is unbearable.
THE kiss was underwhelming and a disappointment!
Diana
Thanks, Jarifa, another interesting, informative read! I was hoping Damian would be a good kid but it doesn’t look like he is. I wonder how Genaro is connected to all this. Did Dulce confide in him or was he once in this group with Damian. I’d like to think Dulce confided in him and that’s what put him in this situation.
Leandro is getting scary. It’s like nothing will stop him from getting what he wants. Another scary one isCarmina. If she’s withholding her son’s medicine she’s risking his life to hang onto Pablo.
Now we have two sets of toxic parents. Franco and Paloma have more in common than they realize. But Walter did impress me. He wasn’t pushy but let her know he was there if the other guy didn’t work out.
I don’t see Yaneli winning against the men. But doesn’t she have a text on her phone from the Edgar?
Amanda looked very uncomfortable when questioned by Everardo. Wouldn’t it be something if Leandro wasn’t his!!
Liz
Thanks so much, Diana
Sara tells Danilo that if Roberta realises she has lost control over her, she might kill them all. But why did she have to tell te amo on my birthday? I wasn't feeling very festive and this just irritated me.
Roberta wants Fidel to provide some trucks. I don't know what exactly she intends to do with them. But what worries her is that Victoria is breathing down her neck already. She pprefers to bankrupt the mine if she isn't la patrona. So let's get all we can because the wolf is at the door is the gist of it.
Velos calls Ezequel about something because he was told by Roberta he should call him if he needs help.
Joaquina says in the letter that she killed a man many years ago and Roberta helped her.
Sara says that if she doesn't win the elction, Roberta and her gang will retaliate. She also says she at first agreed to run for municipal president because of Leo,i.e., she had nothing else to do in the town when she was there. Interesting reasoning. But Roberta started going on about the perfect family so too much pressure now but la patrona has spoken and she wants Sara has to be the municipal president. Sara says 'now you see why you can't leave me?', which makes it seem she's monologing because Leo says it's fraud and he wants nothing to do with this.
Roberta asks the mayor to find Joaquina if he wants to keep his job. She says she will again turn Joaquina into a most faithful dog when she finds her.
Thanks, Diana, I’m sure that was a hard episode to write up. Did anything good happen?
It sounds like Roberta is not going to let Joaquina go in peace. She sent Ezequiel after her, I think. Not sure what he’s supposed to do with her. Maybe she’ll realize Roberta has no feelings for her and tell all to someone.
I hate to see Sara get a happily ever after with Danilo. I don’t think I’ll be happy with any of the endings. Except Nico being with his mother!
Loved your #foreverplaid reference. Saw a great play, Forever in Plaid, years ago. Had to laugh at your “stuffing his face” reference. I was watching it and thinking that was why I liked him the least.
I can’t believe that Leo somehow gave Roberta custody of Nico. Victoria needs to appear soon!
Jenny did a great job in her scene with Orlando. And the makeup people too. She looked at death’s door.
Hoping for something positive to happen tonight!
Liz
Waterlily, wishing you a very happy birthday!! All the best to you...
I do apologize that Sara spoke her words of love to Danilo on your special day. Some of these telenovela characters have no consideration do they?? 😊
As always, thank you for the sparkling clarity you provided! So Sara is afraid not only for herself but for others. That she cares about anyone other than herself was surprising. Her reasons for Leo not to leave her were ridiculous.
Is Velos the snitch miner?
We knew Joaquina had at least one deep, dark secret. I wonder who she and Roberta killed?
It will be interesting to see what Roberta has planned for the mine. Loved "let's get all we can because the wolf is at the door".
"She says she will again turn Joaquina into a most faithful dog when she finds her" sent chills down my spine.
Thank you again for all you supplied Waterlily!
Diana
Only time for a quick hello.
Thank you to Diana and water lily .
Maybe Rob and Jo killed their awful father who put Rob out on the streets .
OT...Diana was that play about Buddy Holly ?
Must run....back later . Susan
Thanks so much Liz! I appreciate your kind words. I'm glad you liked #forever plaid which is a daily part of Fidel's questionable wardrobe. He should consult with Leandro from Vencer on his fashion choices LOL.
Yes, this was a hard epi to recap but to be honest, most of the recent ones have been more than challenging. 😊
If I really dig deep, the only light moment was Gael and Marijo's scene together. But they just don't excite me as a couple so my answer to your "did anything good happen" has to be an honest no!!
Jenny "looked at death's door" was the perfect descriptive. You nailed it.
Dreading Joaquina being tracked down which seems a certainty.
Diana
Thanks, Liz. Every episode just leaves us with more questions! Yep, Amanda did seem suddenly uncomfortable. Wouldn’t that be a hoot of Leandro wasn’t Everardo’s? Interesting comment about the text. The list of toxic parents keeps growing. Carmina may literally ne part of that club giving Pablito a special tea and withholding his meds. It seems like it wouldn’t take much of anything to push his health over the edge.
Hi Susan and thank you.
I did wonder if Jo and Ro killed their father (I think we are all proceeding on the premises they are sisters).
I don't think Forever Plaid was about Buddy Holly, I think it was about a group of aspiring HS singers but it was Liz who saw the play so I will defer to her.
Diana
Fidel wants Orlando to help him with the expropriation of some land. It's supposed to pass to the state governement. Orlando says there are heirs, to which Fidel replies later you can pay them because so far they haven't showed up. Fidel says they are going to have a place to process minerals there. They will officialy be processing waste there but from what I understood really will be extracting other metals. I really can't be sure this makes sense because I'm not sure I understood everything. They are also planning to strengthen the power chain. Fidel says Addled might want to be a senator next.
I have to say Sara astonishes me with her ability to be so dismissive of Joaquina and then bursting into tears when Leo says it's all over. The woman can't even pretend to be nice.
Sebas will make sureVelos stays far away from Roberta.
Waterlily, thank you for all that information of the land, none of which I understood. So it seems they are going to steal gold and other minerals?
Addled as a senator. OMG...Speechless!
Sara "can't even pretend to be nice" was excellent!
I'll be away til later today; look forward to checking back in then.
Diana
Diana, that whole conversation about the minerals was way above my level it seems. Orlando does ask if they are going to use other extraction products from the Gloria. Fidel says It's other mine and just do as I say. So they are going to extract minerals that I believe officially aren't going to be extracted, like zinc and copper. I think they are going to store them in that place Fidel wants to build on the land they will take. All this legalisation is done because Roberta wants to speed up the process. I got the impression they are already extracting the minerals because Addled said he couldn't understand why they need to legalize something that already is being extracted. I even thought those minerals are a subproduct of gold extraction because Emilia mentioned earlier how the amount of the remaining mineral was off. One of the people who inherited the land is Orlando's friend. I can't believe he'd do something like this to a friend.
Diana, thank you for yet another excellent account of all the drama and doom .
I think Rob gave us the actual title of this bag of tears ..." Happiness Doesn't Exist."
Why on earth would Jo believe that Rob loves her ? All Rob has done this entire show is belittle and abuse Jo. They seem to have a bizarre relationship in the way Jo accepts Rob's scorn and mistreatment .
Susan
Happy birthday, Waterlily! Thanks for writing all that important information.
Rob and Joa's father being the man these two killed would certainly be interesting. I'd like that.
How is this mess going to be wrapped up?
Question : why is Zaire crying in her cups about "Lolita?" Does she think that Tig and Lolita are having a thing ? Is that why she suddenly out of the blue wants a divorce? Makes no sense.
Susan, trying to make sense of this whole show
Jarifa , thank you for that excellent recap of all the mysteries and plotting .
Do we know what the three businesses in the house are ? So, Yanelli will be the receptionist for all three . She can not catch a break with the administration backing the sleazy teacher.
Did Dulce truly write that letter incriminating Damian, or did someone plant it?
Ha...sick, ancient Everude still needs to be assured that he was Amanda's "first" Really, dude? Is that important in your here and now, you toxic little man? " I'm numero uno!!!! I wish she would tell him that she has lost count of what number he placed in her life .
Poor Genero is being coerced by someone to say be hurt Dulce. Where will these hints about the missing Dulce and Damian lead us ....Leondro ? Everude? Edgar?
Susan , confused
Susan, Gilberta was the one who suggested tigre might be having an affair. Then Zaira suddenly remembered tigre was very 'friendly' with Lolita when he was in hospital. I think she later mutters something about him being surrounded by women. Wasn't she reading her cards? She actually thought tigre was going to say they deserve another chance when he wanted to talk so she changed her mind about the divorce at some point.
Jarifa, thanks for translating Dulce's letter word for word. I do like that this TN is hitting us with surprises. Gracias for making these turns so clear.
Both Dulce and Damián were troubled. In the flashbacks, Damián wears glasses and braces on his teeth. He had no swagger. I'm guessing the hurt he caused Dulce came out of his insecurity, which of course doesn't make it right. Maybe Damián hated himself too.
It seems like Dulce would've wrote that she hated Genaro, since he started getting rough with her. We've seen Genaro violently shaking/grabbing/yelling at Dulce.
I'm glad Yaneli isn't suffering but telling her friends what's happening. The fella crushing on her seems to be reconsidering his uncle, hopefully.
Obregón getting fired. Sweet!
Susan your "Ha...sick, ancient Everude still needs to be assured that he was Amanda's "first" Really, dude? Is that important in your here and now, you toxic little man? " I'm numero uno!!!! I wish she would tell him that she has lost count of what number he placed in her life ." made me smile! Perfectly put.
Niecie, "Obregón getting fired. Sweet!" It was so enjoyable especially when nobody came to his defense.
Forever Plaid was pure fiction. It was about 4 guys that were killed on their way to their first gig. They decide to perform anyway to us, the audience. The music was great and it was also a comedy. One guy gets a bloody nose, the others tell him, he turns his back to the audience and turns back around with a Kleenex stuck half in his nose. Just funny stuff between the songs. I saw it around the time of 9/11.
Liz
I also think Roberta really killed whoever and made Jo think she had done it, so Jo feels she owes her. I could be very wrong!!
Liz
Diana: Amazing job with the recap of last night's episode. Why do I get the feeling Orlando will be pissed off when he learns Jenny never told him she lost the baby ?
Liz: Body Count must be like 100+ with the way Psycho Roberta & her cronies are wreaking havoc. There's got to be something in Psycho Roberta's past that she's hell-bent on trying to keep secret & all of those dirty little secrets are going to get exposed sooner or later. PS: We've got like 23 episodes left, assuming this is set for 107 episodes.
Weirdo: Let's hope the Three Amigos or Fab Foursome get some victories before this ends. I like to see Adelia getting a happy ending ASAP.
Waterlily, thank you for the additional info on the minerals. I'm so impressed with everything you were able to glean. To be honest, I understood none of it so am grateful for what you supplied....
"I also think Roberta really killed whoever and made Jo think she had done it, so Jo feels she owes her". Interesting Liz! You may well be onto something there.
Thank you very much Susan and Steve. I'm looking forward to tonight to see what else may be unearthed!
Diana
