Paloma waits at the only hospital in Mexico City for Walter to arrive. She calls his parents who are flying in. She calls Franco to tell him what happened. Walter arrives and is unconscious. Paloma apologizes to him . She never should have asked him to come back to talk to her. She then tells him that she needed to talk to him because they were never going to have a relationship. She was going to break his heart. (Really??? Walter is unconscious but still could be hearing her. Is this the message she would want to give to a possibly dying man?? GIVE ME A BREAK!!! Paloma is a chip off the old blockheads of parents she has) Paloma says she will never forgive herself if something happens to him. She calls Franco to let him know what is going on. Walter's parents arrive and tell Paloma that their son was so in love with her. They had expected they would be getting married. (Thank goodness Paloma did not take this moment to tell them the truth!!) Walter's work calls his cell phone to find out where he is. It seems that he never told them that he wasn't going to be at work when he decided to drive to Mexico City. His parents think it is odd that Walter would leave work and not notify them. Walter makes it through the night but dies the next morning.
The security camera at the hospital shows that Dulce left on her own. Manuela says they cannot call the police because Dulce is over 18 and is free to do as she wishes. She is afraid that Dulce could be in danger. Manuela finds Dulce in a park seated behind garbage can. Manuela gets her to the Center where a doctor checks her out. Dulce will be staying there until she decides what she wants to do. She will not be alone and the police will send somebody out to guard the center. The next day, prosecutor Bravo is going to come by to get a statement from her. Dulce is afraid. Dulce is very upset when she learns that Genaro is in jail because of her. She finally decides to see her father because she cannot avoid dealing with him forever. Pablo pressures Carmina to give him the exact info on the so-called "Nora" and how she found Dulce. Carmina is vague, of course, but Pablo says he really wants to talk to Nora in person. Manuela coaxes Pablo to go see Dulce. He reluctantly agrees to go with Manuela to the center. He enters Dulce's room and says he needs to talk to Damián.
Julieta talks to Chiro to tells him she is on the way to fixing her body. He tells her that when she has her princess body they will be together for the first time. She tells Desiree she has the money for the injections.
Enrique is preparing for a romantic supper with Amanda tomorrow.
Yaneli notices that Amanda and Angeles are competing for Julieta's affection and she tells them to stop.
Vicky is helping Yaneli with her case against Edgardo. Yaneli and Axel are thinking of ways of getting all of Edgardo's victims to file charges against him.
Franco is released from the hospital.
Yaneli tells Vic and family that it is possible that Genaro could be coming home. Vic and his wife are still arguing about where to go and what to do. Yaneli tells them to make up their minds because they are hurting their daughter.
Leandro talks to Amanda. He wants to find out who his bio-dad was. She explains how he was a guy she sent out with in college who went on to be a vet. Her family pressured her into marrying Everardo. She didn't see him for years but ran into him as she was going through the worst time with Everardo. They slept together one time and Leandro was the result. She now regrets that she didn't fight for the love she had with his bio-dad. Leandro refuses to forgive her again. It turns out that the real reason that Leandro wanted to talk to Amanda was to ask her to help him win over Julieta. She agrees to help him. (REALLY??)
Lorena and her kids move into Amanda's house. She has filed for an express divorce. It will only take two months. After she and Nico are divorced, they will divide up their property and deal with support for the children, etc. Lorena is looking for a place of her own to stay. Amanda tells her there is no rush. Sooner than expected ike as soon as they have moved in, Amanda is baby-sitting again for Lorena.
That is it for me.
I'll do Thursday's and Friday's episodes as usual. Since Vida is dropped from my schedule, I can continue with Thursday - Friday until the end of the novela.
Jarifa,
Thank you for crystalizing and clarifying the rather disturbing events of this evening. A marvelous recap.
“Paloma is a chip off the old blockheads of parents she has” was pure platinum.
Speaking of, I could not believe Paloma was telling Walter “She was going to break his heart. (Really??? Walter is unconscious but still could be hearing her. Is this the message she would want to give to a possibly dying man??” You captured that irony perfectly. That said, what was the rationale for killing him off?? Was he better off dead after losing Paloma? I hardly think so..
Thank heavens Manuela found Dulce as she was neither safe nor sound.
Pablo “enters Dulce's room and says he needs to talk to Damián”. I shake my head sadly and sigh.
Leandro and Tamara take advantage of Amanda yet again. She is blind in terms of Leandro, still not fathoming the evil person that he is. A mother’s love must be boundless because such slavish devotion to such selfish, self-serving children is baffling and inexplicable.
I fear for Julieta who is in imminent danger from Chiro.
“Vic and his wife are still arguing about where to go and what to do”. Why don’t they just leave and figure it out later? I could care less.
Diana
Thanks Weirdo! We are inching our way toward the finish line.
I look forward to reading your sure to be marvelou recap!
Diana
Weirdo: I'm assuming you're doing the upcoming recap of last night's episode 🤔
Waterlily: Those Karma anvils better be good.
UA: Grumpy Tigre still grumpy!
Thanks, Jarifa, that was a great read. Loved those side comments! Yes, everyone knows unconscious people often hear what you say to them. I feel like the writers took the easy way out, kill him off so we don’t have to figure out how he’ll react to losing Paloma. But I think they would have been good friends, all three of them. Because Walter and Franco had formed a friendship. At least the writers were smart enough to have Paloma choose Franco before Walter’s accident. And will Paloma ever find out he was texting when he crashed! Or will she live with guilt for the rest of his life.
I was upset that Pablo called Dulce Damian. I’m sure that must be hard but that’s your child, and obviously she’s Dulce.
So an adult woman is giving Julieta shots to change her body. That seems kind of criminal.
Amanda is a doormat, and apparently always has been. I wonder if Lorena will get back in time for Amanda to go to her romantic dinner. I’ll be surprised if she does. The adult children in this show, well Amanda’s and Enrique’s, are so selfish. And I think Amanda knows Leandro put his ex in the psycho hospital but she’ll help him get Julieta. And if he gets Julieta and not Manuela what will he do with her.
I am glad Dulce was found and we didn’t have to worry about her for days. Pablo was looking separately but did he even know what Dulce looked like!
Liz
Why, why WHY did Paloma tell Walter she would not be getting back together with him? The only reason I can think of is that the writers wanted to pile more guilt on her with 20+ episodes to go.
Speculation, not Spoiler: "Nora Pardo" paid for the transgender surgery in order to traffic the end result. Dulce ran away and was beaten up by some thug from the gang. This Reuter report shows a serious increase in the numbers of kids and teens getting treatment for gender dysphoria but may be off due to cases not covered by any medical insurance.
Carmina is now at the top of my shit list. She belongs in a manicomio. Leandro is fighting with people whose mental faculties are mostly intact while Carmina is abusing the more vulnerable.
"Kiro" or whomever, may be in cahoots with "Nora."
That's it for me on this. Gracias, Jarifa.
Thanks for all of your comments as these mysteries continue.
Diana, I cannot even deal with Amanda anymore. She never learns her lesson. Being a doormat is not a virtue. No, Dulce was not “safe or sound.” Perfect! I feel so bad for her. She has been on her own for so long.
Liz, the whole injection thing with a minor does “seem kinda criminal.” As for Pablo calling Dulce “Damián”, it just proves to me how Pablo thinks that how he feels is so much more important than his child feels.
Urban, I know this is “Vencer LA CULPA” but if I never hear that word again after this novela, it will be too soon for me. ITA about Walter. Fascinating speculations. Nothing would surprise me at this point.
Highlights
Sorry for the delay. I have a suspicion of cut scenes. Bear with me.
Victoria stares into Roberta's eyes and admits she's Emilia! Joaquina is left speechless. Roberta orders her out before she continues her talk with Emilia.
We see police violence going on with Leo. Ezequiel doesn't even let him call Victoria, he snatches his phone away! They take him to the precinct.
The whole "I'm Emilia Sánchez!" revelation wasn't as satisfying as I expected. Roberta claims that she's always known. We get a few flashbacks and Emilia threatening to reveal Roberta's crimes and I think mentions her humble origins. Roberta sarcastically says she doesn't have any proof and then Emilia mentions the bomb explosion in the mines, which she also doesn't have proof for, but for some reason freaks Roberta out. She grabs a KNIFE and tries to harm Emilia. Emilia manages not to get hurt.
The surgeons talk on and on about Tigre's surgery being hard and even the smallest error can cause him to die. As they're performing surgery on him, he "meets with" his dead first wife in the afterlife. For a second he appears dead. His first wife tells him Zaira and Gael need him.
A doctor comes out and tells Zaira and Gael Tigre "died" for some time, but they managed to save him. The surgery was a success. Zaira and Gael hug.
Cayetana has a talk with Joaquina, who's pretty shocked. Cayetana's safety and Tigre's condition are mentioned.
Nico, being scared by Roberta's capabilities, refuses to go with Victoria and tells her to leave. Roberta has the look of triumph. Ganaste una batalla, no la guerra (You won a battle, not the war) I wanted to scream at her.
Leo is thrown in a jail cell with some very unfriendly miners who beat him up.
Emi receives a text from Gael, informing her about Tigre and some voice message about Leo getting locked up.
Roberta doesn't tell Fidel about Victoria actually being Emilia. Addled comes in and is pissed off at Rob for locking Leo up, the husband of the candidate for the presidency.
Jenny informs Sara of Leo getting locked up. And at some point, Sara told Addled about Leo learning Romy isn't his.
Míriam apologies (again) to Sebas about involving him in this but "AdAlBeRtO tHrEaTeNeD hEr". Sebas tells her he can keep Andrés at his home if she wants, for the kid's safety. Míriam agrees, happy, because she thinks they can live together again. When he tells her no and that he's marrying Victoria, Míriam isn't so kind to him. She screams at him to get out if her life. Can she sink any lower in my dislike list?
Joaquina dresses more elegantly and tells herself she won't let Roberta get away with all this. Huh? Wasn't she defending her until, like, yesterday?
Leo explains to the miners that it's a trap from Roberta's side or something. I suspect some things were cut from my video at this point...
Joaquina tells Nico to come with her. She explains that his dad's in prison and he has to leave with her. Nico trusts her and goes somewhere with her.
Dan breaks the news to Sebas and Marijó, the mine has went bankrupt.
Victoria goes to visit Leo at prison. This got me thinking that even the main antagonist has learnt Victoria's true identity and Leo has STILL yet to figure it out. Sara and Roberta enter. Sara proposes something to Leo that I didn't catch. Leo turns it down. Roberta says to Victoria to tell Leonardo the REAL reason she came to work in the mines.
And with that not-so cliffhanger, we have the Fin del Capítulo...
Gracias, Jarifa. I too loved "Paloma is a chip off the old blockheads of parents she has." Didn't think anyone could make me laugh about last night's grim, but you certainly did.
Thanks so much,weirdo.
As much as I'm glad I could watch this episode without much difficulty, I am still not sure what those miners told Leo. I think they said they were working without a health insurance and something about waiting every day to be let into the mine. Was someone keeping them out? I can't remember. Then one of them also mentions being given a loan that he was told was authorised by Leo. I do hope I got this right. Well, the result of all of this is that Leo promises to help them.
Sara said Leo can be free right now if he stays with her during the time when she takes her presidency (I'm not sure about the English translation so please correct me). So does she mean the time when they sort of hand over the post to her? Oh and Sara told Addled she doesn't care about the election now as Leo now knows the truth. I bet she felt as if she won the lottery when she learnt Leo was in jail.
Sebas actually asks mMiriam 'what are you waiting for?Till he takes the kid away from you?'. Miriam said she was xpecting for Sebas to tell her he loved her and to suggest they move far away. She can't be serious...Can she? Later she says to herself Sebas could be killed but she can't even tell him this (that's supposed to help? She runs to him for help every chance she gets. Those killers would track him down in no time). Then I started wondering if her speech is supposed to hide noble motives where she screams all this stuff at him to supposedly protect him. The problem is it sounds waay too believable because she already was very pushy even when there was no threat to her or her child. This plot is so funny to me. The only good thing about it is that you wrote THE MOTIVE in capslock. It just makes it easier to bear somehow. So Addled threatened her but he also said something about using the fact she's selling to get visiting rights or something along those lines. I mean, surely no one would take a kid from a mother who is selling drugs...No way...My Spanish might be the problem here, but I just don't get why she is selling drugs. it's not Addled she'll have to fear if she gets caught. He will throw her under the bus. Did Joaquina leave roberta a letter? Because who the hell tells someone they are trying to escape from they are leaving? Roberta would realise soon enough who took Nico but still.
I was absolutely convinced tigre would get his wish andGod would be like 'don't want to be in a wheel chair? Fine. You are dead.' The doctor mentioned something about him not being able to walk if they 'move him' or something when tigre's heart stopped. So I thought it was either or. Tigre also said he didn't want to lose her, refering to his first wife. So out of all of those people, he'd have picked her if she hadn't mentioned other people need him. Maybe he is tired of living? Because throughout this telenovela there was always something he was unhappy about. It's almost like he only needs a reason to say life isn't worth living. He is cantankerous (thanks, Diana) in nearly every episode. I could watch him being grumpy, but that 'make three wishes' offer genies give would be wasted on him. In the end he'd be pissed off at the genie for bothering him or unsatisfied with what he got. If only we could ask for a refund if we don't like our life!
Thank you for the terrific recap Weirdo!
“Ganaste una batalla, no la guerra (You won a battle, not the war)” was perfect; let’s hope it’s true!!
“The whole "I'm Emilia Sánchez!" revelation wasn't as satisfying as I expected”. No it wasn’t. I admire that Emilia held her own despite the fact Roberta had her backed into a corner (relatively speaking). Roberta went all Cruella Deville on Emilia, smirking and sneering in her black and white dress and gray wig. I had thought this confrontation would leave us on the cusp of some exciting revelation or resolution, but as usual, everything fell flat.
I refuse to ask if Leo will finally find out the truth tonight because we heard him say he knows Vic IS Emilia some time ago. I am interested though in how this scene will play out.
Is Joaquina finally motivated to DO something or was last night just a chance to change into some decent clothes?
I thought Leo was a jerk to Orlando when he visited him in jail. Orlando may be gullible but he would never do anything to intentionally hurt anyone.
In her anger and fury, Miriam’s vindictiveness was disturbing.
Interesting Sebas still plans to marry Emilia but never admitted that he cheated on her with Miriam.
Neither miner in the jail had kryptonite as Leo easily took on two at once and whupped them both!
Diana
Waterlily, I was typing here when you posted; thank you for all you added. All I could comprehend regarding Leo and his cell mates was that they seemed to have come to some sort of understanding before the two miners were sprung.
Loved your take on Tigre: "I could watch him being grumpy, but that 'make three wishes' offer genies give would be wasted on him. In the end he'd be pissed off at the genie for bothering him or unsatisfied with what he got. If only we could ask for a refund if we don't like our life!" Amen to that!!
I didn't realize Miriam might have been giving that speech to Sebas "to protect him" so to speak. Her Linda Blair pea soup spewing seemed a bit much so this could explain it.
I have a feeling Joaquina didn't leave a letter. The second Roberta realizes Nico is missing she will put it together in a New York minute.
Diana
Niecie, glad I could make somebody besides me laugh. I don’t think we are in for any other laughs in the novela the way it is going.
Weirdo, thank you for giving us every magic moment as we trudge along with these people .
The mine has gone bankrupt ...really ? Was that part of Em's grand plan?
So, Sebas tells Moody Miriam that he is going to marry Victoria . Really ? Does Em know that Sebas expects to marry her ?
I can't stand Tiger at this point . In fact, I cannot stand most of these people.
Is there any chance that the writers were able to end this show in any way that makes sense ? I have my doubts. Next. Time to move on .
P.s. I am back home after a long visit with family . Maybe I will be able to watch tonight . Susan
Welcome "back" Susan!
To be honest, the bankruptcy was a bit of a shock. It seems as though nothing went according to plan. But then of course, there never was a clear vision let alone any sort of plan, was there???
So glad you will be able to watch...
Diana
Pablo shows he has made ZERO progress in his prejudices when he talks to Dulce and is so offensive making it clear that he wants to help Damián fix what he did to himself to change him back to who he was. Dulce tells him that she is not Damián and that she is who she is. She has no intentions of changing back. She is asking for respect. The prosecutor arrives and is ready to get her statement. Pedro insists on being there. Dulce decides she isn't ready yet to give her statement. That seems to anger Pablo. The prosecutor is patient and says she can let them know when she is ready. She is over 18 and is an adult . Dulce does make one thing clear. Genaro didn't do anything to her. He wasn't the one who assaulted her. The prosecutor says they can release him as soon as she makes her statement and names her perpetrator.
Irineo (not Pirineo) talks with Leandro. Leandro wants to know where Dulce is and when she makes her statement to the prosecutor. Genaro, his client, will be affected by that. He has places to go and things to do.
Dulce tells Pablo that Nora Pardo was dead before she disappeared. . Pablo talks to detective Suárez about what he found out about Nora Pardo. The detective admits that Carmina hired him to find Damián but she never paid him in full, so he can tell Pablo EVERYTHING he knows if he pays what Carmina owes him. Pablo confronts Carmina about Nora Pardo who talks about her as if she were still alive. He catches her in her lie and lets her know that. She says she did it for Pablito. He accuses her of putting him on a wild goose chase. He asks her what exactly happened the day that he threw Damián out of the house. There is no answer because Pablito has a bad pain in his back (his kidneys?) that they need to attend to.
Manuela tells Angeles that she is still preoccupied with the mystery call and also with Julieta being preoccupied with how she looks and curious about the spa..
Julieta lets Desiree know that she wants those injections ASAP but also has some questions for her like are they safe? Desiree says of course they are. They are have "natural" and "organic" ingredients! Desiree quiets any concerns that she has. Manuela notices that Julieta was talking to Desiree and as her spidey sense kicks in, she asks why. Julieta says she was interested in what they did in the spa. Manuela makes it clear what they do isn't for kids her age and if she ever is feeling insecure about her body or looks to come and talk to her. Julieta calls Desiree and says she can sneak out for the injection on Monday. Desiree call her little bro to tell him that she has a real gullible girl lined up. He will supply her with the injections. Desiree says the girl looks about ten and they will have to go slow so it seems natural.
After Walter dies, his mother blames Paloma for his death since she was the one who asked him to come and see her. Paloma feels guilty. Franco talks with the parents and must have moved heaven and earth because suddenly they are all grateful to her for allowing them to stay at her place while they take care of Walter's cremation. She tells them they can stay as long as they need. She is going to stay at a friend's place. The parents tell her that Walter loved her very much. Those good feelings soon disappear when they come into Paloma's apartment later only to find Paloma and Franco snuggling on her couch. They demand to know what is going on.
Enrique is patiently waiting for Amanda until her daughter Tamara comes home so they can have their romantic dinner. He tells her the night is long and they are young. Amanda ends up not only taking care of her grandkids until Tamara is done working but until she comes in half drunk from partying after work. That is a surprise to Amanda since she told her she had plans. Well, Tamara had plans, too, and what else are grandmothers there for?
Vic gets on Yaneli for being so "friendly" with her novio. He calls her a "chamaca jariosa"/a horny girl. Yaneli sticks up for herself and tells him to basically butt out. She and her sister-in-law educate him all about how dating, love and sex work nowadays and that women can use birth control to not get pregnant. That shuts him up.
Brisa Portugal, a singer from Angeles' era, is going to have a therapy session with Manuela on line. Manuela asks Julieta to set the chat up. While waiting for Manuela, Brisa Portugal recognizes a photo of Angeles on the wall. She tells Julieta that they were contemporaries in show biz. Brisa sang one of the theme songs for one of Angeles' novelas. Brisa also mentions, in passing, to Julieta that Angeles was very independent and never married or had any children. UH OH!!!
That is it for tonight.
Thanks so much, Waterlily, for all you added!
At first I thought it might be interesting Tigre lived the explosion, but no. Sorry, I prefer it the La Patrona way (he died in the mines).
Míriam can't be redeemed in my eyes. I don't know why she pisses me off so much. When I was researching for the Antes del Gran Estreño post, the only info I could find is that she would "give people much to talk about". Yeah, she did, for all the wrong reasons.
Diana, LOL about Joaquina changing into some decent clothes. Another OOC moment in this show. Just like Sebas not admitting to Emilia about the night with Míriam. I wonder if making characters do things they wouldn't so they appear less perfect is considered good writing. Sorry for the venom, but I think the writers just want to fix the mess they created by creating more mess.
Thanks for adding Orlando visited Leo. That was cut from my video.
Susan, I also can't stand most of these people. The story fell apart, didn't it? Just like Invencible...
Glad you're able to watch!
Jarifa, another fantastic summary.
I read with dismay, disbelief and disgust that Pablo "wants to help Damián fix what he did to himself to change him back to who he was". Prejudice and ignorance are a lethal combination and as of now, Pablo is mired in both.
Pablito is now the victim of another of Carmina's cruel, manipulative machinations. I hope he is all right. Finally, the noose is tightening a bit...
"Angeles was very independent and never married or had any children. UH OH!!!" is right Jarifa!! The plot thickens, even more so...
Leandro has some kind of vested interest in Genaro, I wonder what it is.
Are freeloaders abounding? Time for Yaneli to evict Vic. Hmmm, could we have a potential similar situation with Walter's parents?
Are Amanda and Enrique ever going to get to have their romantic dinner? Tamara has lucked out - she has a built-in baby sitter, cook and maid. Amanda needs to wake up, smell the coffee and get a grip.
Julieta continues on her road to ruin...
Diana
Weirdo, Diana, Kirby, SpanProf, Darcy, UA & Co.,: I'm assuming Weirdo will be doing the recap of last night's episode ?
Susan: Welcome Back to the CarayCaray Family.
Noticed Joaquina FINALLY changed clothes but she's still annoying! Leo still the last person to know that Victoria is Emilia.
I've lost track about who knows Victoria is Emilia. Wasn't shocked Psycho Roberta knew about Victoria's true identity & cringing to see what Psycho Roberta & her cronies have planned for Emilia, Adelia, Danillo.
Thanks, Jarifa, the plot thickens! I hadn’t thought about Leandro’s interest in Género, but it is unusual. He was so mad when he wasn’t told right away that Dulce was found. I was surprised at that but never thought there could me more to it.
I know Walter’s parents are grieving but I don’t like them. Why would they even think to blame Paloma for their son’s car accident. I hope the texting comes to light. Then Paloma can stop feeling guilty.
Julieta should be old enough to know the injections are not a good idea. And if Angele is not Manuela’s mother then who is? I hate that Julieta is the one to hear this news. I first thought that Brisa was a cross dresser!
Tamara is selfish and inconsiderate. I wish Amanda would open her eyes and see her kids for who they really are.
Carmina’s world is about to crash down on her! I’m looking forward to that!
Liz
Super job, Jarifa
She and her sister-in-law educate him all about how dating, love and sex work nowadays and that women can use birth control to not get pregnant.
I have no use for Vic. But he could've replied that "Women *can* use birth control to not get pregnant, but this is a TN so they won't. Just kidding. Since we're closing in on the finale, I expect Yaneli to follow through.
Oh my, Angeles has a secret?
Its so strange how these new people (Vic's family and Walter's parents) are demanding Viewerville's time and are in no way connected to solving the mysteries at hand Brisa Portugal, on the other hand, is most welcome. She's intriguing and has a story to tell.
I notice that no one is recapping vida. I wish my Spanish were better so I could do it. Unfortunately it's not. I am watching this and trying to grasp as much as I can. So far it seems like an interesting TN.
Lester
Hi Lester. I am watching this so far. It has a great cast. I’m not up to recapping, but we can have a conversation here. I’m still trying to get everyone figured out. It’s funny to see Soler playing a grandpa, but he’s great at any age.
I can tell there are some evil villains and lots of merely flawed (very human?) characters. At first I was put off by some of the long dialogue, but now I am enjoying the change of pace from faster-paced novelas. I really like the kids! It’s fun to see Yaneli from Vencer here playing a more mature young woman!
Babachita
I’m watching and enjoying this show. Pepe’s wife is pretty bad. Rafa was pretty smart to tell his friend he had ended it with him. Now the friend is on the video and Rafa got away with his affair with his brother’s wife. Which is pretty low. Then Lorenzo hears him singing and decides that he’s his biological dad! Guess he had some suspicions about it before!
The oldest brother’s girlfriend is really bad. She also looked so much older than the girl she threatened. Not sure why she was jealous! Plus I thought she had left! I think this is going to be a fun show!
I did not recognize Yaneli. I’ll have to look closely Monday!
Liz
There is a lot to be figured out in the last 20 episodes.
Mysteries to be solved:
Who assaulted Dulce?
As Diana brought up, why does Leandro seem to be so interested in Genaro?
If Manuela never had children what is her relationship to Manuela? Why has she hidden the truth?
Who called Manuela?
Who is Chiro?
Who was Nora Pardo exactly?
Are there any other mysteries to add to this list ?
Diana, "Are freeloaders abounding? Time for Yaneli to evict Vic. Hmmm, could we have a potential similar situation with Walter's parents?" That is a good question. What will Dulce do now that she feels guilty for doing nothing. As for Vic, he needs to shut up and go with his wifey and child to Oaxaca. I hope Walter's parents are gone ASAP but some how I doubt it.
Liz, "Carmina’s world is about to crash down on her! I’m looking forward to that!" I am right there with you. It cannot happen soon enough especially with her giving that noxious tea to Pablito. She could be killing him.
Niecie, "I have no use for Vic. " Me either and thank goodness that Yaneli is over 18 and is legally able to make her own decisions. I find it bizarre that in these novelas that men try to control the actions of women rather than controlling the real problem: the actions of men.
I am not watching but thanks, Babachita, for the info on Romina Poza (Yaneli). I will have to give her a look in Vida.
Liz and Jarifa, the only reason I recognized the Yaneli actress was hearing her voice, which I recognized from Vencer! The ponytail and bangs emphasize her youth, while her “look” in Vida is more sophisticated! Very versatile!
Babachita
I watched an episode , and it seems interesting . I will give it a try , mainly for Juan and Susana. Susan

Victoria doesn't admit she's Emilia.
Tigre just whines again. He and Zaira talk about the divorce paperwork.
Cayetana says she wants to be by Gael's side. He refuses, he doesn't want to spend the rest of his life with her. Zaira defends Cayetana!
Emilia tells what happened with Roberta and Nico to Aleida. She vows she won't let her child go. Aleida tells her the company is bankrupt.
Roberta tells Leo the only way he'll leave is by helping Sara. Sara of course takes advantage of this and proposes an offer: she'll also manage to keep Nicolás with him if he helps her.
Fidel and Addled are talking about faking votes for the election. Orlando sees Addled being suspicious with Flor, but Fidel quickly distracts him by asking him about Jenny. Orlando coldly replies that's not his business and murmurs something about Flor and finding out what's happening in his restaurant.
Emilia visits Tigre. He tells her about the dream he had with Emilia's mother. Emilia receives a text from Joaquina, informing her she has Nicolás. She leaves and Sebas takes her place by Tigre's side. They imagine how life would be if Sebas married Emilia.
Gigí is talking with Zaira about the elections when Jenny calls her. She takes the call and Marat has his opportunity to ask Zaira out. She's uncertain because of Tigre, but he says that it's just dinner.
Addled involves Míriam in his shady elections business. He says that's the chance she wants to get out of the difficult situation she's in. Mimí refuses. He grabs her violently and blackmails her with photos he claims to have of her selling drugs. Oh and I think he mentions her death as an option.
Cayetana hits on Gael yet again. She kisses him and he... uh... Kisses back?
Sara asks Leo to come with her in some event that's something to do with the elections, didn't catch that. Leo (who accepted Sara's proposal to get him out of jail) refuses and says he'll only help her if Nico is with him.
Back today's episode Kingdom of Cringe, Cayetana drags Gael (still kissing btw) to her room. He finally says they can't do that, but Cayetana insists on "helping him forget Marijó". Gael thankfully doesn't do anything with her.
Roberta is looking for Nicolás and realises Joaquina is missing too. Rob finds a letter by Joaquina, in which she says she took Nico away to protect him of Roberta damaging him. Rob freaks out and says she'll have Joa begging her for forgiveness or dead; no one takes Nico away from her (see how Emilia felt, Roberta?)
Victoria searches for Joaquina and Nico. She finds them and Nico apologises. Leo walks in (!) and calls Victoria a traitor. Joaquina offers to explain the situation. Vic chooses not to tell Leo who she is. She insists she's a friend, not a foe. Leo... Leaves?
Roberta tells Sara about Nico. She freaks out and blames Rob. Rob, cool as a cucumber, tells her she'll present "evidence" that prove Joaquina killed Ignacio, in front of Sara, Dan, Sebas, Mar and some other woman. Mar screams at Rob about wanting to blame Joaquina. Rob is calm and says Joaquí killed her husband. Mar leaves and Sebas calls Rob an asesina. Ezequiel mentions the consequences of calling someone a killer and Sebas replies that he doesn't care about the consequences, Rob will pay.
Quality time with Nico and then... Joaquina defending Leo. Em asks her why and she mentions Roberta and them (Jo and Rob) working in an brothel! And not only that, Jo got pregnant at that time and chose not to abort it! And yes, we were right, Leonardo IS Joaquina's son!
I suppose I got many scenes cut here, because next thing I know Míriam is at Sebas' and tells him about the threats.
According to television, Gigí is winning the elections! Dan pops up and they have THE same dialogue with Sara.
Leo pops up to Joaquina's hiding place and says he found a better one. There's no time to go there though; Ezequiel comes and tells Joaquina she's the primary suspect in Ignacio's murder!
Thanks, weirdo.
That scene with Gael and Cayetana was soo...It's like they decided to put all the nonsense into this one episode. Miriam runs to Sebas for help once again. But when they ask her to help them by testifying, she cries and says she shouldn't have come because they aren't helping her at all. I'm curious what she thought they could do. Her only chance is running and hiding somewhere, but of course she most probably needs Sebas to come along for the journey of a lifetime. How can the writers push the idea that a person with no good qualities at all could be attractive to someone? I won't believe for a minute Sebas could like her because she's ultimately a coward and Emilia wasn't. I imagine that's why Sebas liked her-they are both alike in this. Miriam only cares about herself, just like Sara. Her 'long lost sister syndrome' pisses me off to no end becauseI think at one point in this or some previous episode he promises to protect her and she says 'I knew I could trust you'. It's like she comes and expects him to sort out her mess just because. I genuinely don't know what a man could see in her. Rant over.
If they want me to feel sorry for Joaquina, they have done a terrible job at winning my sympathy. Why exactly did she give Leo to Roberta? They both were poor, so I don't get why Roberta was a better option. Or did Joaquina have to go to prison for that murder? But later she didn't take Leo and leave. It's her fault he suffer so much mistreatment. She also encouragedhis desire to do anything to earn Roberta's non-existant love by insisting she didn't hate him. For him as a child that must have been confusing. It's nogood thinking that she could love him if only he did what she asked. These telenovelas put a lot of emphasis on motherhood, but Joaquina failed terribly and it doesn't mattershe is his biological mother. It's interesting there are so many women in this telenovela who lack courage. I hope they aren't going to say Joaquina 'did all she could' because it's more like she did all she dared and no more. So did her comment Roberta had helped her refer to the fact Roberta raised Leo? But how could she be grateful for this when Roberta was so horrible to him. I bet they'll make Leo forgive Joaquina, though.
Danilo tells Sara they should run away together. She is another one who is impossible to like. Whatever does he see in her? Danilo and Sebas are ready to help women who don'tappreciate it really.
This telenovela gets worse and worse. I'm a bit curious what will happen to Sara. Are they going to let her ride off into the sunset with Danilo? Why? They'll let Miriam off the hook too? Aleida told her she was selling drugs, which destroys a lot of lives. Miriam tells Addled MADE HER DO IT. So the lives she helped ruin don't matter. Can she see beyond her own nose, like ever? I'm bored of her excuses. It's always someone else's fault, isn't it. First it was Addled and the fact she 'expected' him to marry her when it was obvious this wasn't going to happen. Then it was her expectations with regard to Sebas. It's like whenever things don't go her way, it's everyone else to blame.
Weirdo, thanks for the great recap! Loved “Kingdom of Cringe” which had me smiling away.
I’m sure the snail’s pace of these last few episodes are as frustrating to you as it is to me.
Although Leo is finally revealed as Joaquina’s son, I am shaking my head rather disgustedly, that Emilia still will not admit to Leo who she is. And Leo calling Emilia a traitor makes me wonder how the writers are going to get these two crazy kids together in a believable manner.
Sara still manages to manipulate Leo while fighting to keep Danilo at bay. She just will not capitulate on anything, will she?
“Orlando sees Addled being suspicious with Flor, but Fidel quickly distracts him by asking him about Jenny”. Poor, sweet, thick as a brick Orlando. Use the few gray cells you have to your advantage dear boy.
Miriam should be running out of town as if her life depends on it. Which it does.
Joaquina runs to the (likely) only shady motel in town. Is no one thinking here??
Diana
Waterlily, thank you for all of your inspired ruminations and explanations of what occurred.
(Joaquina) "didn't take Leo and leave. It's her fault he suffer so much mistreatment. She also encouraged his desire to do anything to earn Roberta's non-existant love by insisting she didn't hate him" was well said and mirrored my thoughts exactly. Standing by while he suffered grievously makes her as guilty as Roberta for intolerable cruelty. And I agree that Leo will forgive her.
I do not think Sara and Danilo are going to realize Danilo's dream of happily ever after. I have a feeling not everyone will come out unscathed or alive. I don't see Miriam and Sebas together at this point either. But what do I know? Very little, obvio!
I do hope Addled and Fidel get their comeuppance.
Gael should have pushed Cayetana away immediately. It wasn't a case of momentary weakness; he kissed her more than once and quite soundly at that. Ack.
Diana
Thanks Weirdo, I don’t know how you make heads or tails out of this mess. It’s like the writers are trying to write each episode the day before the filming. And they just throw stuff in.
Cayetana was very obnoxious to me, but they made Gael so weak I was sure there’d be a whole new storyline with Cayetana pregnant.
Orlando can’t notice what is right in front of him on a regular basis, but his mother caught it right away. And he was head of the police!
I’m guessing Roberta bankrupted the company. And why did Victoria ask Marat to come? Was it to help the mine or help them with their plans? Usually the first week of a telenovela is confusing, when you’re trying to figure out who’s who and what’s going on. I thought this last episode was confusing!
I didn’t realize Gigi was winning. Good for her, maybe they will mess up on stealing the election and she will win.
Joaquina just lets Roberto raise and mistreat her son. She should have taken him a long time ago.
Poor Nicholas, Leonardo should have saved him from Roberta a long time ago. All these non-heroes are driving me crazy. And once again Leo thinks the worse of Emilia.
Liz
This is by no means a recap, just some highlights (which may not be in sequence) for those who are interested--
In Episode 4--
Rafa denies, denies, denies that he has anything going on with Malena. He assures Lucia the she misunderstood what she saw. Lucia warns him that Andrea is set on finding out who her mother's lover is and has set up a camera at the entrance of their house. Rafa later convinces his mechanic buddy, Pasqual, that Pepe left Malena and suggests that he "go for it". When Rafa finds out that Malena will be going home alone, he calls his friend and tells him that he should go see Malena.
Natalia shared her suspicion that Paula might have a brain tumor with Rolando. she told him to hurry up and woo Paula into marrying him...and make sure Paula names him as executor of her estate.
Paula and Pepe come to an agreement: he will allow her to park her food truck on the property for one week.
Andrea sees Emil and Lucia talking on the pier. She layout confronts Lucia who denies feeling anything for Emil. Andrea assures that Lucia the she doesn't;t have a problem if Lucia likes Emil.
Lorenzo tries to talk to Isabela, but she tells him that they have nothing to talk about. She hints that if Lorenzo had been more insistent (many years ago), she might have left with him. She then assures that she chose the right man.
Rolando goes back to Lago de San Juan and asks Paula about her visit to a neurooncologist, but she tells him that it was just an annual checkup. She assures him the she is fine; she is just being extra cautious since German died. Rolando shares (lies?) the German had asked him to look after his family if anything were ever to happen to him. He assures Paula that if anything happened to her, he would be like a father to her children.
In Episode 5--
Diego tells Paula that Suzy is afraid to sleep in the dark ever since their father died. Paula had no idea. And she had no idea that German had given a storybook to be read before she goes to sleep.
Pasqual falls for Rafa's trap and tries to seduce Malena, but she turns him down.
Isabela tells Alex about her encounter with Lorenzo. She assures Alex that she didn't;t give Lor the time he asked for.
Rafa tries to convince Pepe that Makena is not the type of woman he needs and that he married too young. They make a list of the things Pepe could have done if he had not married. Meanwhile, Paula adds to her list of things that she needs to do.
Teo's birthday is celebrated.
Lorenzo listens while Rafa sings. After Rafa leaves, For asks Gracia if Rafa is 38 years old.
Pepe reminds Malena about Teo's birthday and has bought a gift for her to give him. Malena tells him that she already has a surprise for Teo.
Paula catches Rolando reading her "To-do" journal. She finally admits that she only has a brain tumor and she has 7-12 months to live..
Emil's GF, Reni, is back and threatens Lucia to stay away from him.
Pepe finds a hidden camera and shows Malena the recording.
Natalia forges on with a business deal with the Asians despite being warned that Paula had concerns.
Isabela sees Lor and Rafa arguing and tells Rafa to leave. Lorenzo reiterates that his wife Julieta told him that Isacela need to tell him something important and asks if Rafa is his son.
Andrea confronts Reni about almost running over Lucia.
Weirdo, thank you for riding that tidal wave of nonsense . When I type in " minas" , autocorrect always changes it to "minus" ...which is actually more accurate .
QTH??? I figured out a long time ago that Leo was Jo's son, but who is his father ? Since Jo and Rob were working girls , are we to assume that his dad was a random John ? How lovely for Leo to find that out . Then, Jo fell in love with Igy, but Rob married him . Okay.
Do we have any idea why Marat was brought in at the last minute to romance Zaire?
I wonder if the actors ever say to the writers " This makes no sense !" I am actually feeling embarrassed for the actors who must deliver these lines and play out these odd storylines . Basta.
Anyhoo, I ,too, am getting bored with these odd storylines that swirl around and around with no forward movement . Please let it end , but I have no hope that the ending will make any more sense than this show has made so far. So many sharks have been jumped that I have lost count. I dont think we are going to see a lot of HEAs...maybe Em and Lazy Leo ( file this under " Be careful what you wish for, Em" ) and Gale and Marijo . I doubt Sebas, who was the kindest heart in this sack of sadness , will get a HEA. Miriam is not a great consolation prize for his years of steadfast devotion to Em. To quote our Dr. Carlos ..."Next.". Susan
Chickie,,thanks you for that excellent recap. Wow, so many characters . I saw the last episode , but I am very lost. I think I have sorted out who done characters are, but the minor ones are a sea of random names to me right now.
The premise is very depressing .
I watched the intro with that weird shot of Paula's husband going under the water face up ??? Odd in the fact that he is Susana's real life hubby. Guess we won't be seeing much of him . He played a baddie in another show Susan starred in .
I dont know if I stand watching Valentine Lanus in that manbun . Will he ever let his hair down literally band figuratively?
Is Isabella being played by Laura Flores? If so, she looks much older in " Vuelve a mi" on Telemundo right now . Susan , lost in space
Gracias, amigas. I don't know where to begin here.
I didn't like Cayetana's smirk in the most recent episode. She is more of a schemer than I thought and I wanted to slap her.
Gael, too, for letting this get too far.
Ever since YNCELH writers have been jerking us around -- especially in the last weeks -- in an effort to be unpredictable and I'm sure the actors also feel the pain.
As for Joaquina and Roberta, my best guess is that Joaquina did some time and gave birth in prison. Roberta -- with someone's help -- showed up to take baby Leonardo and it suited her to pass him off as hers. If Joaquina was proven to have defended herself she got out and was stuck serving Roberta in order to be with her son.
Miriam is too stupid to live. Addled needs to be exterminated.
Sara does not deserve redemption.
Thanks, SusanLynn! Can’t blame you for being lost with all the minor characters. Veronica Merchant is playing Isabela and Laura Flores plays her BFF (with the badly bleached hair), Gracia.
Thanks, Rgvchick. Maybe I´ll finally manage to remember who is who.
I was unpleasantly surprised Paula had no idea her son was reading stories to his sister or that her father gave her a book. I know sh is busy and so on, but it´s like Pepe said'you make time for the kids if you want to.' It feltsomehow too big a thing not to notice. And why didn't she know German gave his daughter a book? Hasn't her 'being busy' started after her husband died?
So Isabela needed to be convinced. And here I was feeling sympathetic towards her, given that her husband went off to Italy to study music and then was like 'I've changed my mind' and the other galan made a deal with him out of anger. Maybe it would have been better not to pick either of them.
Malena's lack of care for her kids is astonishing, even for someone who 'wasn't sure' and 'was young'. It's always interesting to me how some people, after becoming parents, are like 'I didn't want this' or 'it's hard'. I mean, what did you expect? Doesn't Malena have any income of her own? She is desperate to keep Pepe. And it's Raf'as fault for seducing her apparently.
I'm not a fan of 'you annoy me and five minutes later we are in love' plots but maybe they'll convince me. It's a depressing plot, but I imagine they won't kill her off because it's a telenovela. Though if Paula does survive, the whole discussion of the acceptance of death, which is supposedly what this is all about, could feel a bit pointless because in the end you don't actually need to accept anything. But happy endings are nice too.
I'm glad Andrea made Lucia go to confront that nasty girl. I'm sick of the good side never saying anything when they are mistreated. I'm not a fan of her being quiet about her uncle either. I know it's to protect her father and not to ruin the family, but that means putting a lot of trust intoa person who doesn't deserve it. At least she threatened she'd tell everything if she catches them again.
Why did Malena think Lucia would help her get Pepe back? Just because a daughter would always side with her mother? To keep the family together? Even if Lucia had known nothing about the affair, I don't see why she'd want to meddle.
Does anyone know if there's a list of songs they use for this show? There are a couple of nice ones I'd like to listen to.
UA: Cayetana will get her Karma anvil sooner or later.
Susan: Addled being too aggressive & using intimidation against Miriam. Karma will get him too.
Liz: Election Integrity will do the trick.
Weirdo: Good Job with the recap of Friday night's episode. I see that Gullible Joaquina is the new suspect for Ignacio's murder OMG.
11 more episodes left before the Good Guys FINALLY emerge victorious. I seriously want to see Adelia getting a happily ever after & being honest: I'm watching this ONLY because of Karyme Lozano.
RgvChick - thank you for your mini recaplets of episodes #4 and #5. ♥
Paula not even knowing her own daughter's bedtime routine and Diego put little Susy to bed all the time...were those kids raised by a nanny? It is sad to see how Paula has missed so much of her children's lives.
Malena is the worst for forgetting her own child's birthday. Ugh. Bring on her anvil. Now! She is insufferable.
Rafa is no winner, knocking boots with his own brother's wife and framing Pascual. This actor must live in the gym weight room. He looks like The Hulk.
The story is moving faster than I thought it would. Already Rolo the Snoop knows about Paula's tumor and Lorenzo seems close to figuring out that Rafa might be his hijo.
Laura Flores looks terrible as a blonde. It just doesn't work with her skin tones and makes her look ten years older, IMO.
Wasn't there another telenovela several years ago, maybe on daytime, that was recapped and we all commented on, where the mail female character was going to die from something and she had 3 or 4 kids? I remember the interior of her house was mostly orange. Anyone remember the name of that t'novela? Seems like she survived after all and maybe Paula will, too.
Thanks, RGV Chick, for giving us the essentials of what is happening. I need to write down these names. Especially the kids!
I wonder if Rolando really loves those kids, especially Suzy, as much as he says he does. He really was bold, going into the drawers in Paula’s bedroom. I can’t believe Paula doesn’t see right through him.
I’ve never watched a telenovela where the main character has months to live. I feel like she and Pepe will end up together and she will live. I may just be giving this the ending I want!
Liz
Rgv Chick, thank you for your very informative and well written recap! I learned much that I just hadn’t understood.
I still have to peek to refresh my memory as to the character’s names but I think I now have the main ones down. The secondary characters are still a bit of a blur.
I hadn’t understood the scene where Paula had no idea of Suzy’s bedtime routine and had a lump in my throat reading “Diego tells Paula that Suzy is afraid to sleep in the dark ever since their father died (and) she had no idea that German had given a storybook to be read before she goes to sleep”. I would never have thought that Paula seems so sweet and loving toward her children. A hard lesson learned.
Paula’s fiery reaction upon finding Rolando rifling through her things and reading her private diary was to be expected. Was there a brief look of sorrow on his face or am I giving him too much credit? Liz, I don't think he cares a whit for the kids.
Susan, hate the man bun…I can’t get past it.
“Malena is the worst for forgetting her own child's birthday. Ugh. Bring on her anvil. Now! She is insufferable”. Completely agree doris…
Sadly, Lorenzo sired the wrong son…
Diana
Thank you, RGV Chick, for filling in some of my gaps! It looks like several are watching, so hoping the comments, “recaplets”, etc, will continue! I agree that the man bun needs to go. I find the opening scene of hubby drowning?? unsettling!
Thank you again!
Babachita
Watching first five episodes on Vix. Some interesting storylines: a dying mother disaffected children, family secrets. Plenty to develop. But I could do without the Natalia-Rolando thread, because I can see where it's heading.
Just had to comment; could not resist. After hearing about the man-bun and Soler being cast as a grandpa, I had to take a look this weekend. IMHO, they should have given Soler a good dye job and a shave and cast him opposite Susana G. Lanús does nothing for me with or without the despised man-bun. I am probably alone, but I cannot wait until the "beard trend" ends. : )
"IMHO, they should have given Soler a good dye job and a shave and cast him opposite Susana G. Lanús does nothing for me with or without the despised man-bun".
OMG Jarifa, I feel exactly the same way!! Juan and Susana have amazing chemistry; they would have been sizzling...
Diana
Jarifa, I agree . Juan should have been the galan . I haven't seen Lanus in a long time. I think he was in Alborado . He had short curly hair in that show if I remember correctly . I would have loved to see Susana and Juan as the romantic couple. Susan
Jarifa - ITA in wishing Soler had the Pepe role. I don't even like that they've given him the older-guy-belly. He is always so trim in his other roles.
Apparently our local cable provider is not showing the "entrada" opening for VIDA and has replaced it with local merchant commercials. They've done this for years. The *only* entrada they let us see was for the initial episode #1. Argh.
Thank you, Waterlily, Doris, Liz, Diana, Babachita and Jarifa for your kind comments/questions/input.
Waterlily, I did a quick search for the songs, but only found the theme song. Maybe later they will have a soundtrack with all the songs.
Doris, ITA about Laura’s hair; it’s horrible! And one of the reasons I decided to post some highlights is so others could have a good understanding of how clueless Paula is about her children. The scene with Suzy was surprising and heartbreaking to me.
Liz, I can’t see how anyone wouldn’t love such a cutie as Suzy, but I’m with you; it would surprise me if Rol did love the kids
Diana, “Lorenzo sired the wrong son” my sentiments exactly! But then Pepe and Paula would not be able to end up together.
Babachita, glad to fill in some gaps. Hope the interest continues and others jump in to start off the discussion
Jarifa, we all agree that casting Soler opposite Susana would have been ideal! Too bad they don’t get public opinion before selecting the protags.
Anonymous, I can do without Natalia and Rol too
Thank you all for your snippets and mini-recaps of this novela. What I like about it is the clear cinematography that highlights the beauty of “Lagos de San Juan” (Valle de Bravo).
I’m also a fan of the pacing. It’s one of those shows which, as you watch, doesn’t seem too fast paced, yet if you miss it for a week, a lot will have happened.
Jarifa, I was following the events of this novela during pre-production. Apparently, initially Juan Soler and Susana Gonzales had been cast as a couple, and also Arturo Peniche had been rumoured to join the cast. However, I think Peniche declined, citing “too many proposals and that he needed time to rest”. My guess is that he was to play Lorenzo. I suppose that after that is when Soler was moved to Lorenzo’s role and they “hurriedly” cast Lanus. He himself says how his return to TNs happened so fast. I wish Stevey was around to give us more of this Televisa tea.
Bree.
Thanks, Bree, for the info! I had never seen Lanùs before but I have seen so few telenovelas and so many of these actors also do "other" tv programs, movies and stage work, etc. Yes, Stevey always has had such interesting contributions.
Thank you Rgv Chick for you excellent recap. I filled in so many blanks for me. For example, I did not understand that Pepe's brother tricked his friend into trying to seduce Malena. When I saw him at her place, I just assumed he heard of her reputation and wanted to join the party.
Thank you everyone else for the discussions. I really helped a lot.
One thing I do not understand clearly is the controversy over who owns the property and the relationships of those involved. If someone could enlighten me, I would appreciated it.
Lester
