El Amor No Tiene Receta #32: Two Important Kisses, Two Te Amos, and a Ton of Ugly Words

Samara played Twister with Nandy and Kenzo. This put the adults into a compromising position, causing Samara to cover her eyes and those of Cobija [The one note of comic relief in this episode].

Esteban chewed out Elvira and Ginebra over bringing Bosco to the jail, which he regarded as abusive and dangerous. Ginebra defended this action, saying that Bosco needed to process his mother's death. He had to heal. Esteban was incredulous that this was the way to go about it; the boy looked worse for wear and he considered this decision capricious. Elvira said she loved Bosco and Esteban said this was no way to show that. He also pointed out that while he helped Ginebra with her recent crisis he could not forgive this. She was not of their family and should not have had anything to do with this. Elvira said “No, you're wrong. Ginebra is part of this family” but stopped at explaining the true meaning of this. Esteban looked surprised and Ginebra watched Elvira like a hawk eyeing prey.

Paz, Mireya, and Lupita cooked while Elvira burned all the while making jest of her snobbery. Pa warned them about the security cameras. Lupita felt unwelcome in that house, knowing they needed to deal with Elvira's hostility and snobbery. She suggested getting a rooftop room but Mireya didn't think this would solve their problem. Lupita pointed out they were all in the same boat and could end up in the same cell. Paz shushed her on this and Lupita changed her language a bit, saying that they didn't know where this could end up.

Elvira defended Ginebra because she is an employee of hers and had her back. She accused Esteban for not respecting her. He denied that, acknowledged that Elvira had the right to make rules, but so did he. Ginebra tried kissing up to him about how she valued his friendship and how his lack of forgiveness breaks her heart [which we know she doesn't have]. Elvira said that Bosco asked for this then got even nastier regarding the presence of Paz and her family who were not welcome in her house. She said they live in the streets. Ginebra studied Esteban's face for his reaction.

Paz, Mireya, and Lupita took their discussion outside the house. Paz whispered to them that they needed proof that Samara was in danger from Ginebra. They needed to plant a microphone in Ginebra's house. Mireya said she could do it. Paz said she would talk to Vermin. Lupita was fed up and went back inside to finish cooking.

Gala and Salomón took their quasi-courtship to the living room. Happy talk.

Pepa got Monito to swear not to talk about Luna. Eder and Monito seemed to be getting on well enough over a race car toy while Pepa took notice of a family photo in Bosco's room.

Vermin was in the Robles' home allegedly inspecting it for microphones. He told Paz he had found none so far. [Of course, we need to worry about whether he was really placing them.] The masked exterminator was working behind him and he coughed at the fumes, which would have been harmful to Cobija.

Esteban said they would forget about the jailhouse confrontation [Rats!], then tried to get Bosco to talk about his feelings. He would not but Elvira went on about hers. Esteban pointed out that she was still maintaining her Good Samaritan image at church while not wanting to have Paz' family in her precious house. Bosco wanted to leave the room, but Esteban said that good deeds make one feel good [Good luck with that one]. Bosco left the room. Elvira has taken the presence of Paz' family as a challenge to her authority, hence what she did here. This would cost him... big. When she excused herself and left the room Ginebra started a half-apology, then tried coming on to Esteban who made it clear he was not interested and that he was in love with Paz. She replied that she was only trying to help Bosco, which he didn't rise to the occasion about. [We know her real intentions, don't we?]

When passing Paz in the corridor Ginebra deliberately flipped over the tray she was carrying, knocking the allegedly expensive imported glasses to the floor. This had the desired result which was to provoke Elvira to make a federal case out of this with more escalating insults thrown at Paz, who had offered to reimburse the cost from her pay. Elvira laughed at this, saying she wouldn't make enough money in her whole life. “You are here for only one reason: So that Esteban can see that you are not on his level.” [Interesting that she insults Esteban the same way when nobody else is there to see or hear.] Although her expression did not change much Ginebra ate this up like so much caviar [or whatever Rappaccini fed his daughter].

Bosco ordered the two kids out of his room, then did the same to Pepa. When he was sure he was alone he took the photo frame, looked at a video of him and Eder on the last family vacation and cried. Pepa saw him from the doorway and went back to hug him. [Should Pepa be nominated for sainthood or given a dunce cap?]

Ginebra vented to Mauro about “Esteban humiliated me”, how he did not trust her, how much she hated Paz, and this is disrupting her plans. She said she was in love with Esteban, lost control, and felt felt like a fool. This was the first time she ever fell in love [I am not buying this but Mauro might be].

Paz told Esteban about the broken glasses and about how Elvira will always get in the way of their relationship. Esteban tried to be reassuring. Mutual te amos and a kiss.

Bosco's temporary sanity disappeared and he was rude to Pepa until he told Bosco that Rubio had tried to rape Mireya. Bosco blinked but said nothing.

Mauro called Mireya who said she had a few things to do before seeing him. He was laying out food for their date to seduce Mireya, as demanded. Ginebra said “Don't provoke me,”, pointing at him with the very knife on the table. He asked “Who was going to say that Paz is Samara's true mother and she is now your rival in love?” [This looked a little like a Gotcha, but Ginebra still registers as 0 degrees Kelvin.]

Lupita and Mireya were talking about Mauro when Elvira parked her Nimbus 2000 at the entrance and began arguing with Lupita again. Probably to amuse herself Lupita addressed her as Doña Elvis.

Paz and Esteban were still in the study [Are they so blitzed they didn't think about the risk of Elvira – or Ginebra – crashing their rendez-vous?] He mentioned his father's visit; she said she hoped they would reconcile. He turned on some music on his phone so they could dance.

Pepa tried to explain to Bosco how to rechannel his hostilities by telling him he does it through his art. “It's like math; everything in balance.” Bosco admitted having thoughts about using his sword for vengeance and then turned on Pepa saying not to Freud him. He didn't want him in his house or his room and then started a fight. This caused Elvira, Paz, and Esteban, to enter. It started with Bosco lying that Pepa had shoved him which escalated into an argument about Paz and whether Esteban planned to marry her.

Nandy told Kenzo she had texted Paz that Samara is fast asleep. He said he couldn't believe that anyone would want to kill her. Nandy told him she was afraid.

Gala walked into Bosco's room to see what was up . Esteban defended his relationship with Paz. Gala suggested a slight change in accommodation. A little tense silence.

Mireya went out to talk to Vermin. She didn't want to hear another word about his jealousy. They got into the cab and he warned her to be careful as he drove her to Mauro's.

Kenzo picked up the sleeping Samara to take her to bed. Nandy looked wistfully at him. Cobija ran after Kenzo as Nandy started clearing the table. Kenzo returned and six sentences later the closed in for a kiss [Por fin!].

It looks like something significantly changed about Bosco's room with lots of stuff ending up in boxes. Pepa apologized to Esteban over the fight; Esteban said all was alright. Gala and Lupita went to help the boys. Esteban and Paz talked about Bosco and a few other things, including that they were adults who should not have to hide their feelings and that his kids had to heal. He said there was no going back. He wanted to be a good father and she pointed out several reasons she thought he was.

Samara got up and saw Nandy and Kenzo kissing. She told them she missed Paz. Nandy talked to her and took her back to bed like the good aunt she is.

Mireya was at Mauro's place. There was a large delicious-looking spread on the table. She declined his offer of wine. As he went to get her something else she planted a recording device under the table [It looks a little to close to the edge]. When he returned with her drink she was nervous [and we flies on the wall are hoping this game doesn't end in the wrong checkmate]. A little more conversation.

Esteban and Bosco talked. Esteban told the boy he had to learn how to heal. That meant he had to chill out and see a shrink. Bosco agreed to and actually looked like he meant it [as we await the proof].

Mauro carried Mireya to his bed. Clothes flew off and were shed [He's got a nicely manscaped and tattoo-free bod. I want to see this actor play a good guy next]. She said “That if ours continues they are going to be untouchable.” [WTF?]

Some clarification on who actually owns the house would be helpful. Elvira claims it is hers but Esteban says he and Berenice had it built for them. Not quite sure if Bosco and Elder share a room. There are 2 beds but I would assume giving the age of the boys and there being a guest room, they each would have their own space. Not sure why Eder was playing hot wheels in Bosco's room then. The bedroom doors are definitely gone, lol.
I haven't commented about Pepe and Bosco before because I hoped the writers wouldn't go this route, but I'm getting a feeling they are going to be gay. Bit of a cliche with their artistic bent so time will tell. I'll await your recap UA. They are very helpful. Sometimes I miss little things because I'm checking vocabulary without stopping the show. I've come a long way in a year, the first TN I watched (ironically with the same galan) I was typing entire sentences in the dictionary app and stopping the show and hoping I'd get it all typed in before the CC disappeared.

One other point I'm confused on, what does Ginebra have on Rubio that he is taking the rap for the murder of Berenice? It was probably hit on in a previous episode, but I have forgotten. He deserves to be in jail regardless, but maybe not for murder.

My apologies for the lateness and the size of the font. I don't get why it shrank so small, so you will need to adjust the view size.

Kat, I agree on most of your points. As to ownership of the house I am thinking that there had probably been a wedding gift of the down payment for the construction, which would have been to Berenice's and Esteban's specifications. I don't think they will get any more specific about this, but it may not matter much. Elvira would be just as intrusive if she lived elsewhere. Whatever happened to the house she inherited when her parents died?

The only difference is that Ginebra would not be invited to just walk in at her own free will, which is the real danger to Paz and her family.

I don't think that Bosco and/or Pepa are gay. Bosco seems to enjoy the company of Gala's bestie and gay men have no exclusivity on artistic talent. The main thing about Bosco is that he is exactly like Elvira while Gala and Eder take after Esteban. This is so not unusual. Pepa's big secret so far is his desire to study abroad, which he thinks his family might be hurt or become disapproving.

As to what Ginebra might have on Rubio, he has a long rap sheet to which she added at least a couple more things we have not witnessed. He probably has no way to prove her involvement in any of this. There also could be some past "employees" of hers already in the slammer whom she could bribe or blackmail into dispatching him.

Urban, good point about dispatching Rubio in jail, another common occurrence. The bedroom with all the boxes I think was the guest room and not Bosco's. I think Paz et al decided the Robles clan should all bunk in there and not put Esteban's kids out. Who else noticed Paz' footwear in the dance scene? Nice comfortable Crocs (or a knockoff). I wear them all the time as they are very comfortable. I'm not influenced by previous actors roles in this as they are all new (except Angel) to me. I did see Angellita in Vuelve a Mi but the change from whispy bangs to her current do, and perhaps hair color means I look at her with fresh eyes. I wonder what Lupita's reference to a rooftop room is. A cheap hotel room perhaps. Probably a local to Mexico term.

Shoes like that are not good for dancing; learned that in college. Women's dance shoes should have heels because they provide the right center of gravity.

I also took flamenco lessons for eight years.

Thanks, urban.
Miraya's willingness to go to Mauro's place is troubling. She can't be so stupid as to think he'd just agree to leave her family inpeace just because he and Mir are having an affair.
Paz alsojust said she'd call Fermin to ask for the microphones. What happened to'be careful'? What if Mauro slit her sister's throat out of anger?
Ginevra baffles me. She thinks she can suggest something like this and that Esteban won't get angry?I suppose she didn't expect to fall in love, but I imagine she'd have been angry regardless. It's always someone else's fault if her plans fail. Paz' secret will ruin things for her but Ginevra doesn't know this so I am curious how she imagines Esteban might marry her and not Paz. She is way too evil to hide it well and isn't very charming. I've heard of psychopaths marrying but I imagine those who did could be charming if they wantedto. Ginevra has a cold personality and I still can't figure out how two men married her. Maybe they were looking for a pretty woman or a woman who would give them a child as was the case with Elias. But I do think I've seen antagonists who don't seem so creepy.

Thanks Urban, I enjoyed the recap. These episodes have me a nervous wreck. Trying to figure out how and when Paz and Luna will be discovered. Also, Mireya entering Mauro’s house was just crazy. She’s taking too many risks.

Counseling would be good for Bosco. Also a good male friend, like Pepa. Still not sure why Ginebra wanted him to face his mom’s killer. And why Elvira thought it was a good idea.

Paz and Esteban make a cute couple. I wish she would tell him the truth so he could take Luna and she away.

Urban, thank you for an excellent account of last night's drama. I have been enjoying your detailed recaps for many years. Do you remember when you first came to caray? I know that you have been here for a long time giving us wonderful recaps and comments.

I hope that Esteban is a true hero and doesn't suddenly Turn on Paz. He had a happy marriage with Bere ,and he has been a widower for six years, so he knows the kind of woman he is looking for. Paz checks all the boxes ...kind, loving ,affectionate, loyal, steadfast. not materialistic .

I am surprised that the writers haven't made Gin a bit more cunning and guarded in the looks she gives. She doesn't wear a mask , so why would Esteban be attracted to her . Her countenance is hard and cold. I suppose as a narcissist , she just thinks her beauty and bod would attract anyone . Her vast leather wardrobe is actually making me giggle...she's in leather every single episode .

I knew that Daniel and Claudia would be a good match with their sweet smiles and dancing ability. Their chemistry gets stronger and stronger as the two actors get to know each other better and feel more comfortable with each other . I can see why some people fall in love with the person they are acting with . Suddenly the feelings being acted out become real. Claudia is the best leading lady Daniel has ever had.

The way people dance tells you a lot about them . I love when Esteban suddenly starts to dance with Paz. In the beginning , it was an excuse to hold her .

We have a lot of dancers in our family . We all love music and dancing.

Daniel has played galans and villains . He played a conceited cad in " Mujers De Judas " , and he was quite young . He was very convincing as a vain guy who knew how good-looking he was and how to seduce women. He had a certain wolfish charm. I have noticed after watching Daniel in many of these novels that he made in Venezuela and Mexico that he has perfected the telenovela kiss and embrace . He makes you believe he is very evil or good as gold.

Bosco is the eldest , and he wss very close to his mother . It is very difficult to try to help children deal with grief while you yourself are grieving . I think Esteban did his best . Elvira left, but she is so toxic that it would have been even worse for Esteban and his kids if she had been around. Whenever a family member dies, everyone else in the family is thrown out of their place and everyone has to adjust to the new reality of life without that loved one.

Susan

Susan, I think Gala is the eldest of the children. She is no longer a minor, but Bosco is.

Kat..oh, I thought Bosco was eldest. Maybe the closeness between Bosco and his mom was because he was the elder son. I once had a student who felt bad for me because I had daughters and no son , Then, she proceeded to tell me that she had a daughter and two sons, but the older son was her favorite. Yikes.
Susan

This was excellent, Urban. Thank you for getting so much more out of this than I did. ; )

Thanks, Susan. I came on board in 2010 and did comments and highlights on both networks' programs at first. La Fuerza del Destino was the first novela for which I did full-page recaps.

I just remembered that Elvira went away to Europe after Berenice's death and was probably there for most of the time since, so she may have sold the house she inherited. She was therefore even more guilty of not being there for her nietos, which is part of why she is so hostile toward Esteban now. It's narcissistic projection.

Waterlily, Ginebra is a narcissist and a psychopath.

I don't believe for one moment that she is in love with Esteban. She is looking to make Elvira suffer for abandoning her and she will do that by killing her nietos in whatever creative way she can come up with. This has the bonus of making Esteban suffer for having loved Berenice. If Elvira gets to explain how Ginebra landed in the orphanage Ginebra may or may not believe her, but that will not matter. She enjoys killing and taking whatever her victims had. She uses her beauty to lure and trap her victims. Many men -- despite being smart about business and money -- are stupid enough to not look beyond the surface and therefore don't see her coldness.

Mauro might believe that Ginebra is finally in love but he has an emotional need to see any humanity in her. It's a wonder he can even function sexually at all considering that both of them have been egregiously abused and he has seen her kill since childhood. We don't know how many victims she had, only that the other husband we flashed back to she did on her own, so even Mauro doesn't know what her final rap sheet will look like.

Thank you, Urban, great work!

Kat, when Rubio first ended up in jail, he was threatened that his family will suffer if he didn't admit to all the crimes the Wonder Twins had decided he had commited. There was some mention of a wife and some kids... who would have thought that someone could actually love Rubio, huh?
Bosco and Eder have been shown sharing a room several times. I noticed it because I found it odd since the age difference is quite big and they live in a mansion.

Waterlily, whenever I see Mireya and Mauro in a scene together, I'm lost for words. Actually going to his house was a WTF moment for me, I think we just have to roll with it.

Susan, I agree that Daniel and Claudia make a cute couple, but I still think he had the best chemistry with Angelique Boyer. Maybe because Gael and Leona didn't get their happy ending, but I'd love to see them do another novela together, explore more of that chemistry.

All this talk about room sharing and nobody asks where Paz is supposed to sleep. I mean, since Esteban is the one who opened his home to the Roble family, he should at the very least agree to share his room, too.
Hehe, if we ever want to see Dona Elvis' head explode....

We know that Gin is incapable of love, but her fantasies about Esteban certainly show us that she is in lust with him which makes her even more dangerous .

Esteban was furious with Elvira and Gin taking Bosco to the jail to see Rubio , and who wouldn't be . QTH??? What is Gin's plan with Bosco? If she can't seduce Esteban , will she try to seduce Bosco, who is already so messed up ? I worry about him and that sword he keeps picking up.

Pepa is a cutie. I think that he will have a future as a galan.

Susan

Adriana, I guess I didn't like Leona always holding back from Gael as he had his heart on his sleeve and showed that he was more and more in love with her . Then , at the end , I got my hopes up when she seemed to be thawing towards Gael in that intense rooftop scene, but then decided she needed both David and Gael like a fish needs a bicycle . I think the writers played with us making us think the two would be together and form a new family with all the kids ....and then....no. All we got was that love story of young Gael and Mar before his awful father entered the scene. Gael stayed in love ,but Leona hardened her heart and couldn't ever love him the way young Mar did. I was disappointed .
Susan

Urban,

You marvelously conveyed all of the emotional components that accompanied all of the anticipated and unexpected dialogue. So many whispered lies and truths.

"You are here for only one reason: So that Esteban can see that you are not on his level.” ... Although her expression did not change much Ginebra ate this up like so much caviar" was excellent and but one example of so many to choose from.

It is somewhat comforting that Esteban told Ginebra in no uncertain terms that he is in love with Paz. While that would usually dissuade most, it will likely not sway Ginebra at all.

The huge red waving flag is that Paz has not told Esteban that she has Sam. I shiver to think how the revelation will happen but Esteban, who seems to abide by a rather strict moral code, will not forgive Paz for either "taking" Sam and/or not telling him.

I wish Mir had placed the recording device at the other end of the table. The placement and it being so close to the edge (as you noted) does not bode well. Mir and Mauro are a combustible disaster.

Susan, I find Pepe to be a very interesting character and hope his storyline gets more developed as this continues. He is so kind and caring. Bosco should be so lucky to have such a friend...

Diana

Guau, Urban! Eight years of flamenco! You are a little box of surprises, as our imaginary friends like to say. I'll bet you learned an amazing amount in that time. Do you still dance?

I haven't watched the episode yet, but I did see a brief video clip of the Twister game -- que cute. I'll have to at least see the kiss, though.

Susan, I believe Gala is 19 and Bosco is 17.

ITA with everyone who can't see Gin with Esteban. Any appeal she has is very superficial, and Esteban is not superficial. Quite the opposite.

Diana, I love "combustible disaster." Let's remember that phrase and use it a LOT.

Adriana, yes, I DO want to see Elvira's head explode.

I can't seem to find the comment about seeing the sidebar on a phone, but if you click on "view web version" at the bottom of the page, it should come up in full mode. The letters are very small, though.

Sadly, Blue Lass, no. My knees are shot thanks to an accident I had a long time ago. If I could have replacement surgery on at least the left one I could dance again, but that surgery requires that I live in an elevator building or a ground-floor apartment during recovery and I have a rent-stabilized apartment I can't give up (Long story I can't tell here). I can't even take down garbage without my cane.

No, nothing will dissuade Ginebra. She will just find another way to hurt anyone she hates. We need to hope that she never gets near Cobija again.

UA: Thank you very much for the recap of last night's episode. Loving the screencaps of the recaps.

PS: Is Lucero's upcoming Telenovela going to replace "MUJER" ?

Susan, Gin and Bosco = incest, but I'm sure that wouldn't bother Gin. I like Pepe also. Sal being so hard on him about wanting to get away and pursue his art passion I thought was selfish on Sal's part. Children shouldn't have to stay around for their parents. Shoot , Mireya, and more importantly Lupita, are probably counting the days till they have an empty nest!
Blue Lass that was me asking about the web version. On my phone the links don't work to actually get to the blogs, I see the list of TNs but they don't lead anywhere. I'll boot up the laptop and check it out that way some day.

Steve, you are right. This series has 20 episodes.
