El Amor No Tiene Receta #33: Walk Into Hell

Mireya asked Mauro to not touch her family. He promised he wouldn't [Damn it, he has a tat on his back].

Paz and her whole family slept in one room. This was uncomfortable and inconvenient [as intended by Elvira] but Paz tried remaining upbeat. Paz held her rosary and prayed for the return of her daughter. Lupita added to this. Paz had not given up since the day of the loss.

The next morning Mauro came down to the bar, saying that sex was the best way to entangle Mireya. Ginebra told him that Paz, her family, and a male child were at Esteban's house. The boy did not have the scar described to her and there was a trans woman who was not at the house. Mauro said that she could be elsewhere. Ginebra prepared to listen to recordings from the tapped phones.

Mireya did not admit to Paz having been out overnight, saying she came in late and didn't want to wake anyone.

Samara missed Paz. She saw Nandy's phone on the bar and called her. Ginebra saw the blip on the computer screen. Abdul handed headphones to Mauro as Ginebra's eyes almost bugged out [Too bad they didn't fall out].

Mireya whispered to Paz that she had planted a microphone in the hellhouse. Paz's phone rang and Samara identified herself.

Esteban and Bosco talked about a trip to the ranch. Monica arrived and Esteban introduced her to his family.

Paz told Samara that they could not talk on the phone because someone was recording them. Paz tried to reassure her that they would see each other soon. Samara told Paz she loved her. From the rest of the conversation Ginebra realized that Samara was with Nandy and Kenzo. As Nandy ended the call Ginebra was furious, shouting that she would kill “that stupid Nandy.” She left the room and returned with a pistol and threatening words. “She is laughing at us.” “I won't pity her, nothing.” Mauro tried to calm her down.

Mireya and Paz talked about this. Paz missed Samara. Mireya told Paz that the two of them needed each other and Samara needed a mother who really loves her. Paz felt like her own daughter was near and that she was a happy, loving child. [Okay, we now need to take bets on how many more episodes we need to wait for The Big Discovery]. Paz whispered that they can't talk about this because if Ginebra and Mauro had interfered with their phones they'd know all and there would be trouble. They continued cooking.

Elvira tried to prevent Monica from talking to Bosco by questioning her credentials. Esteban said that she specialized in kids and adolescents and came highly recommended. Bosco was still in pjs and asked if this was part of his punishment. Esteban asked her to wait in the parlour or the garden. Monica left the room, Esteban said she was there to talk to everyone but Gala said she didn't want to waste her time and Elvira kept objecting [when she is the one most in need of a shrink] saying he “should not have done this without consulting me” continuing about the trip. Esteban was fed up and said so. Bosco then insisted that he break up with Paz. Esteban was equally annoyed with this. Elvira insisted that Paz disturbed the children's tranquility. She demanded that he fire her and send her back to the barrio. Esteban was not having this. His children would need to accept her as his partner.

Paz and Monica were surprised to see each other. Paz told her sotto voce that the family was not to know that they knew each other.

Nandy tried to explain to Samara that she was not to call Paz again. Kenzo said that if Mauro and his people knew they were there they'd have to flee. Kenzo said they'd have to pack quickly and check into a hotel. They got up to do so.

Ginebra gave orders to Abdul to watch Kenzo's building and allow Felipa to go there. She had to get even. She ordered Mauro to bring Vermin to her to make him pay. Mauro started to ask her a question and she punched him in the face. She blamed him for all this because he did not kill Samara as she had ordered him to. “Nobody gets to laugh at me.” Her face was as hard as a diamond.

Esteban made it clear that he was in love with Paz. Elvira sang her same old song and Gala defended her father, even asking whether she had ever wanted to fall in love. Elvira evaded this and got on Esteban's case again. She then flashed back to Ginebra's lie about Paz having kidnapped Samara. The usual accusations were made again. Esteban wasn't having it, stating that he trusted Paz absolutely. Both Elvira and Bosco still spouted venom. Esteban was fed up and then told Bosco he was going to be the first to talk to the psychiatrist. He told Gala and Eder to pack for the trip. Elvira tried to use the kids' schools as an excuse. He had made the plans, notified the kids' schools, and finally asserted his right as a father to make decisions about his children.

Paz served coffee to Monica outside and explained her fears for Samara. Esteban came out to escort Monica to her first patient.

Samara blamed herself for this situation. Kenzo told her this was not her fault, then Felipa pounded on the door. Kenzo had to hide Samara. MORE

Felipa had a tantrum over Nandy having been there overnight. She began searching Kenzo's house. Samara was nervous, hiding under the table with Cobija. She started out on her usual rant. Kenzo almost had to shove his ex out the door.

Mauro was applying an ice pack as Ginebra emphasized her [very dangerous] anger. He told her she had to control herself “or else Paz is going to leave us alive.” He reminded her about the doctor and implied a change in objective. “If we act now the only ones arrested will be Kenzo and Nandy.” Ginebra rejected this, saying “I want Paz to suffer so much that she forgets even her name. It's going to be expensive for her to have gotten in my way. I want her to mourn the death of all the people she has ever known, all the members of her family, even the dog.”

Mauro replied “That is the Ginebra we need: cold, sure, ruthless. We have to grab Paz when she is with Samara. We have to get all the proof necessary so she has nowhere to run.”

Yes, you have to take care of all the details. One detail is named Mireya, right? Doesn't it seem strange to you that the cue rack is rolling around so much? Check all the cameras in the house. I don't doubt that bitch set us up when she came to have sex with you.”

Felipa continued her tantrum, her venom aimed at Nandy. Samara remained quiet under the table as she held onto Cobija for dear life, probably praying that she would not make a sound. Kenzo told Felipa to cool it; her kids weren't there. This did not stop her. She started walking around, claiming they were hiding something. She stepped outside, then up the stairs, then back down, opening a closet door and closing it. Nandy called her “deranged” and said there was nothing to see. Felipa was undeterred in telling her that “You will never be a real woman” [Did this bitch watch Vencer la Culpa?] Keno broke up a potential catfight but Felipa went on with her absurd accusations, strongly implying that this would corrupt her children. He ordered her to leave. She picked up her purse, told Nandy “You'll be sorry” and left. Kenzo almost had to shove her out the door.

Esteban told Paz he was sure that Monica would be able to help his children...and himself. All seemed well between the two of them. She was sure he could mend fences with his father. However, he warned Paz that she could be arrested for kidnapping Monito. He could end up in an orphanage. She told him he would do badly in such a situation but the boy was too young to make such decisions. She was sure that Monito would try to escape. Esteban said that they needed a legal solution.

Ginebra saw something on the computer screen, then found the microphone Mireya had placed under the dining table. Mauro called and she told him, furious that someone as low as she regarded Mireya had outsmarted them and was laughing at them. He had taken Vermin and was on his way.

Esteban was driving his kids to the ranch. He made them hand him their smartphones, saying it would be good to disconnect for a while. The usual whining from the kids.

Ginebra prepared to torture Vermin. As Mauro tied his hands Ginebra tortured Vermin verbally by saying that this is Paz' death sentence “and you will be the first to die.” She slammed him for trying to save Samara's life when she wasn't even his daughter because he had sold her. [This bitch makes Rosa Klebb look like a kindergarten teacher.] She said he will want to pull out his own eyes when he sees how the family will suffer. This caused him to say “Kill me! Then the world will see all your crimes!” Mauro got behind him and put him in a headlock as Ginebra said “You alone will die of guilt as all the Robles die one by one. Can you imagine Paz' face when you tell her that you sold me her daughter?” Mauro filled a bag with cash and Ginebra used it to hit Vermin repeatedly across the face. Four blows into it he was bleeding from the mouth. Mauro watched with a tight expression.

Esteban and his kids arrived at the ranch. Eder was looking forward to meeting their Tio Humberto.

Vermin made it to Esteban's house to find Paz. She was shocked at his facial bruises and asked whether Mauro did this. He lied to her, saying that his injuries were caused by Rubio's people. “They looked for me to leave the message with me for Roble's entire family. They say it's shut up or die.”

A beautiful black horse stood by a tree as a muscular man was wiping blood off his right arm near the creek flowing through the ranch property. He had dark hair of a similar texture to Esteban's and we saw a wee bit of facial hair. [The producers did not want us to know who he was right away so his back was to the cameras.]

Vermin told Paz that the criminals want to turn them in for kidnapping Samara to hold for ransom. They were cornered and running out of time. He finally said that she, he, and Samara should escape and be the family they had planned on. [In your dreams, pendejo].

Esteban talked about the land. Eder wanted to learn more, Bosco not so much. Esteban told Bosco that this was because he never knew need. Porfirio was less than welcoming. This was back to Square One.

Paz asked “Why did you say Sam is our daughter?” Vermin said that this was her chance. She had great affection for Sam and he also did. “This was like the one we would have for our daughter. Besides she is the same age as our Maria. The three of us could be a beautiful family.” Paz said No. They had not been a family for a long time and “Sam is not our stolen daughter.” Further, she loved Esteban and she would not be parted from him. [Vermin still did not have the cojones to tell Paz that Samara was their child.]

Esteban tried to convince Porfirio his visit was sincere. Porfirio was still being a curmudgeon. Esteban said he left to pursue other opportunities but “this land nourishes the soul.” [Did he read Gone With The Wind?] After comments from the kids Porfirio decided to put them to the test [which we all should probably dread].

Vermin and Paz continued to argue as she defended her love for Esteban and pointed out all of Vermin's sins. He claimed he regretted these actions and other things. “What other things?” she asked. He answered “All the pain I provoked.” She insisted he accept her decisions. She told him that Samara called her and Mauro heard the conversation and is now hunting for the child.

Nandy, Kenzo, Samara, and Cobija checked into a hotel. Nandy told Samara she would stay with her and they would not leave her alone. Kenzo said he would go out and buy new cell phones for them. Samara took Cobija into the bathroom.

Ginebra came out of her vault and Abdul handed her the address of the hotel, obtained by his lackeys who had followed them. She told him that they were to watch continuously and report even the smallest detail, above all if Paz visited them.

Paz told Vermin that her family needed to return home if it was safe to do so [re the exterminator]. Elvira arrived and made her usual insults [I am so weary of this]. Paz told her he was only there to inform her about the situation of her house. She explained his bruises as having been a crime victim. Elvira accused him of being a criminal [Sadly, this was on the money]. He replied that people are really evil. Elvira said more insults then segued into asking Paz what she knew about Ginebra's missing daughter. Paz claimed ignorance of any news. Elvira went back into the house telling her that she was not to receive visitors.

Porfirio tried to get Esteban and his kids to leave by insulting them over their ignorance of family history. This was clearly another attempt at getting them to leave. Gala said they were there to learn but Porfirio did not believe it. He said it would be better if they returned to the city, got up, and walked away. The kids were confused. Esteban said he would show them around himself.

Samara and Cobija conversed in the bathtub while Nandy and Kenzo talked about their relationship. Samara came out for a drink of water and asked about the meaning of “transsexual.” From their expressions it was obvious that the adults did not expect this question.

In the vault room Ginebra handed the hotel's address to Mauro, cursing that Samara had more lives than a (damned) cat. Mauro asked Ginebra what she planned to do with Samara. The response was “Kill her.” Mauro looked down at the address.

UA: Uh-Oh. More chaos ?

Okay, Ginebra threatened the dog-rabbit. Now she has to die.

I think I missed something important: how do the Robles know their phones are tapped?

UA, great as usual. Are you fluent in Spanish, you sure seem to catch everything! I thought Gala was ok with the therapist but I guess I missed something.
When Elvira was berating Fermin I think she ordered him off her property to which he replied he was in the street, not her property. Fermin has informed Gin and Mauro that if he dies the truth will come out about them. So now they know he has information on them though not necessarily about a safe deposit box. I'm sure they will figure that out. He needs a will and the info with a trustworthy lawyer that can't be bought off.
The country estate looks pretty prosperous to me. Esteban has pretty wealthy roots it seems. Doesn't look like they starved. I'm sure the mystery man is Humberto. Cousin or brother to Esteban?
So did the microphone that Mireya placed record to a remote location or did she need to get back there to retrieve it?
Can't believe how well trained that dog is. Thought for sure it would bark at Felipa.

Also, was it Nandy or Sam that has more lives than a cat. Sam has been her target all along, Nandy just now is in her cross hairs.

Kat, your point about more lives makes sense. I will adjust that.

I am guessing that the injured man is Humberto and he is really Esteban's half-brother. Does anyone remember any past statement about Porfirio's status on the ranch?

Blue Lass, Ginebra has to die no matter what happens to Cobija (whom I hope will be rescued by Paz or one of the boys). Ginebra must die because even in prison she would be too dangerous if left alive.

This was great, Urban. I have to remember 'curmudgeon' because I like the waay it sounds.
Everyone was so exhausting to watch here.I'm tired of Elvira. It's even hard to feel sorry for her even though her daughter was taken. If she has always been so classist, Ginevramight have grown-up intoa nasty person if she had been with Elvira. I wonder which of Elvira's nasty qualities are the result of her loss. But if she's a narcisist, then she'd have been insufferable either way.
What is Porfirio hiding? I was hoping for someone other than Eder could be nice here. But it appears he is the nicest character here.
I love that Esteban stands up to Elvira, but I can't even be glad about this because they'll shatter all my hopes when Paz decides to tell the truth. Well, I suppose at least this time it's a female protagonist who hides something.
I find it interesting that Ginevra had Mauro incapacitate her victim. Why doesn't she do it herself? Or will she do it to Paz?
Now what are they going to do? I don't know if I can take the scenes of torture that are sure to come. These recent telenovelaswere pretty dark. I don't remember there being this much focus on torture and suffering before. Who is worse:Ramses or Gin? Now Carlota from ENDA just looks like someone trying to be an evil witch.
Did they explain why Ginevra didn't kill Samara herself? She keeps blaming Mauro and I wonder why she didn't think of a way to do the job herself. But I suppose she had to stay and pretend to be a grieving widow.

Thank you, Urban, great work!

Blue, I didn't catch the whole "listening on the phones" trick either. Or what was the point of Mireya bugging the house if they found the device so quickly. Actually I have a hard time understanding any of the plot surrounding Samara or who knows what about her.
Now Ginebra is waiting for Paz to be with Sam in the same room before she can bust them. And Vermin is doing what exactly, I've lost track of what lies he's telling to whoever he's in front of.

Kat, I think Esteban's father is "country rich", which for someone like Elvira would be almost as bad as Paz' family. And he still had to work the land himself, maybe when Esteban was a kid they weren't doing that great.
Humberto is the cousin, he took over when Esteban decided to live the ranch for a city life (probably around the time he met Berenice and started working for her company).

This was perfect. Thank you, Urban. Loved your commentary. I had a hard time watching this episode and the previous one wondering how much longer do we have to see how evil Ginebra is, how nasty Elvira is . . . yada yada yada , etc. etc. etc. until Ginebra makes her inevitable move on Paz to reclaim Luna/Samara. This has been drawn out for no good reason. Puhleeze let the confrontation be soon.

Thanks Urban, loved all the conversations and details you provided.

I wish Vermin would tell Paz the truth about Sam and what he knows about Ginebra and Mauro. She needs to know all that she’s dealing with.

The kids were confused about their grandfather. I was too. I thought he would be thrilled with the visit.

Why does Mauro take that treatment from Ginebra? I’d say there’s something lacking in his character but I think it’s worse than that. He loves Sam but would kill her. He’s almost as sick as Ginebra and Mireya needs to know this.

Was Felipa sent over to search for Sam. Because as mad as she was about Nandy she was definitely searching the house. I was sure the dog would bark.

I have the same question as Blue Lass, do they know their phones are tapped or are they just guessing. If they knew then Paz never should have answered Nandy’s call. And should have hung up immediately when she knew all was well.

This is nail biting drama. And Bosco and Elvira will gladly report anything to Ginebra. So there are spies everywhere.

Urban,

You always select the perfect pictures to accompany your stellar recaps and did so again today.

Loved Ginebra's "face was as hard as a diamond".Ginebra's esence of pure evil is permeating every aspect of this story. No one is impervious from her wrath, hatred and vengeance.

Sam is being moved from place to place but nowhere is safe. Ginebra is the predatory lion, toying with her prey, maliciously planning Sam's and her family's demise. I agree with other commenters, how long will this go on?? Basta!

I'm also confused as to how the phones were hacked and moreover, how Paz knows they were.

What exactly is Porfiro's problem with Esteban?

This is getting harder to watch...I appreciate your and all of the other recappers attention to detail and for soldiering on despite the deeply depressing content.

Diana

Waterlily, I think that Ginebra plans her crimes very carefully and either needs to play the victim or to be nowhere near the scene of the crime so she can't become a suspect.

Ginebra's plan to grab Samara and Paz together is to remove any doubt of the lie that Paz kidnapped her. The child is 7 years old now. We know that Paz got her out of Fagin's Den before she was caught in the massacre Ginebra planned. That does not constitute kidnapping.

The upshot of this plan is that once the news reports come out about "poor little rich girl found" it would look extremely suspicious if anything happened to her.

Vermin is a coward and he is seriously delusional about getting back together with Paz, who has rejected him multiple times. This is now seven years after he sold Samara to Mauro and was also too stupid to even wonder at the time how Mauro knew his financial desperation. We know now that Rubio has been one of Ginebra's thugs all along. Vermin is also not intelligent enough to outthink Ginebra or Mauro.

Mauro is the wild card: We don't know what he will do and we don't know his entire criminal history (or hers, for that matter). He cringed at the thought of killing Samara at the original time. We don't know if he will cave now. He could be lying to Ginebra that he will comply and she could be lying to him that she will do it herself. The latter is less likely because we've heard her say it to herself. He doesn't have her thirst for blood. After killing Gorila he looked very stressed and disturbed.

It was a reasonable assumption about the phones. It's too easy to learn people's phone numbers these days and with that other information. What would have been harder is connecting the deep-faked videos to Ginebra and Mauro since there is no obvious connexion between Berenice -- whom Paz never met -- and Ginebra.

As to Porfirio, the distinction and snobbery between "country rich" and "city rich" cuts both ways. The issue is mindset and lifestyle rather than money.

BTW, Coco Máxima -- Nandy -- is a transwoman.

Urban, thank you for every detail as things just get worse and worse . Where are the writers going to take this story? I cant imagine how Paz and family are going to continue to keep Samlunamaria out of the cruel hands of Gin . When will Vermin tell Paz that Sam is Maria ? When will Paz tell Esteban that she has Sam and that she is keeping her away from Gin because Mauro plans to kill her . Tangled web. Meanwhile , Esteban is dealing with the mother in law from hell and nasty Bosco while he tries to hold off hot to trot Gin and make amends with dear dad. It's a lot.

I think that your theory that the problem between Porfirio and Esteban is about Esteban not staying on the farm\ranch. In my rural community , there are many farms and small villages . My dad worked a full-time job in order to pay our mortgage , but most of my friends lived on farms that were in their families for centuries and passed them from one generation to the next . I had two close high school friends who stayed and took over running their family farms .They both loved farming. One of them got a degree in chemistry but took over the farm. Another friend left to get a degree in agriculture in another state and became a professor. His sister and her husbabd took over the farm. Farming is hard physical work , so if you dont love farming , you leave . When farmers get older and don't have sons or dsuggters who want to take over , they might rent out their land to neighbors , or they sell . Many sell tge farm into preservation because they don't want to see the land sold for development . Farmers have a real love for their farmland .
