El amor no tiene receta, #37, "So much crying! So much sobbing!"

Fuego and Elvira are still investigating the child who went missing from the hospital. Elvira is sure the Roble family had something to do with it, she’s even afraid they might start stealing from the house, too. However, she needs proof before going to Esteban, he’s been defending them too much and accusing her of being a snob. She would never!

Enter Monica, who Elvira accuses of helping kidnappers. Monica declares her innocence, but Elvira fires her and promises to do everything in her power to remove her license.

Mauro comes to visit the Roble boys. Salo and Pepa are NOT happy to see him. Mauro chats with Monito, he calls him “Chema”, which the kid forgets is his pretend name.

Alone with Mireya’s boys, Mauro tells them that he is dating her, she even slept with him the other day. Oh, boy…Salo wants to strangle Mauro, neither he nor his brother believe him, but he says from now on he will be part of their life.

Rubio would like to send a message to Lupita from Fermin: “Hasta nunca!” And then he stabs her! She falls to the ground, tries to reach for her phone, but he pushes it away and leaves her to agonize alone in the alley.

Gala gets a call from Jeronimo, but she’s not in the mood for his games, so she cuts the conversation very short. However, he seems certain that she will cave sooner or later.

Kenzo arrives and wants to talk to him, would like to become closer. Jero admits that his own behavior hasn’t been stellar, but his father can’t just demand for a better relationship just because he threw them a party or played video games with them. He was never around and their mother… Kenzo knows Felipa is mooching off Jero, he’s tried to talk to her about it, but she won’t listen. Jero asks his father to man up, do what he needs to do as the head of the family. He’s tired of having to take care of his brother while trying to defend himself from his mother.

This is the first time I actually understand Jeronimo. Being raised by a self-involved, narcissistic mother and a barely-there father can’t be easy.

Eder and Monito are playing hide and seek. Monito is searching for a place to hide, he eventually goes behind a curtain in Bosco’s room and overhears him on the phone, complaining about the Roble family in the house. Apparently, it’s Pepa’s birthday soon and Bosco is planning something nasty. He calls him to his room, tries to apologize for his behavior and says he has a birthday present. He turns to grab his saber, but Monito comes out of his hiding and bites his arm.

Post lovemaking, Esteban wants to talk honestly with Paz. What about that scar on Monito, he didn’t see anything on his face. Paz says the scar is not that big and it’s on his neck. And why did she change her phone number so suddenly? Because the bank won’t stop calling her. And Vermin? He can go to war for her, but he needs to know the truth.

Paz stands and says she will talk, she just needs a minute. She leaves the bed to grab a robe and says she’s ready to confess, but he needs to listen to everything before giving his opinion.

They get interrupted, because Lupita manages to call her to say that she has been attacked. Paz and Esteban leave in a rush, confession time postponed.

Mauro tells Ginebra that their people in jail told him everything went OK with Rubio. Next item on their agenda: Monito.

Vermin calls Salo to ask if Monito is around. He thinks he found his real parents, wants to take him to them and no, Salo can’t help, in case things go bad.

All the kids get into a fight over Monito biting Bosco, he wants to call the cops. Gala is upset with Salo, etc etc…

Mireya has gotten news about her mother, too; she leaves Nandy with Samara and off she goes.

Salo and Pepa want to accompany Monito to meet his family. Vermin remembers that Mauro asks him to take the child some place and looks conflicted about it but he’s still willing to do it. The boys get a call about Lupita being attacked. They all jump in Vermin’s cab.

Mireya, Paz and Esteban arrive at the hospital, the doctor tells them Lupita was hurt by a knife and several organs have been touched, her condition is critical. They have to get ready for the possibility she won’t make it. Mireya and Paz start sobbing, Esteban asks the doctor if they have all the necessary equipment to take care of her (they do).

And yes, Ginebra is listening to everything through the necklace that Mauro offered Mireya. She’s giddy and proud of Rubio’s work. Mauro agrees, Rubio and Vermin will be their lapdogs. Speaking of, here comes Rubio, of course Gin helped him get out of jail. Congrats on your latest work, she sayss. Mauro gives him some money, reminds him they still have to pay the guards, Ginebra assures him that as long as he does “his job” his family will be safe. But don’t ever dare to go against them.

Samara and Nandy are both crying, they are worried about Lupita. Kenzo arrives and Nandy gives him the bad news. He hugs them both.

Later Nandy asks Sam to put on her PJ’s, and then they will read a story. Kenzo tries to encourage Nandy, who can’t stop crying, remembering how Lupita encouraged her when nobody else would.

Samara has a crisis, she doesn’t want to be inside anymore, she needs to go see Paz and Lupita. Poor child, she’s breaking my heart.

Esteban has called an expert to check on Lupita. Castro, the cop, arrives asking about what happened. Esteban gets angry, will he will be able to do his job this time?

Pepa and Salo arrive at the hospital. They all want to pray for Lupita, they can’t lose her.

During the operation, Lupita is losing a lot of blood. Both Paz and Mireya are ready to donate. Esteban and the boys talk about the Roble women being strong and hardworking. The boys say grandma is the glue that is keeping their family together, she can’t die.

Elvira tells Fuego she almost told the truth to Ginebra, but she didn’t dare. And telling her the truth after they find Samara will be hard, that case is getting too complicated, there is even a doctor involved and that Paz Roble.

Then Elvira asks Fuego why he fell in love with her, he knows all of her secrets and bad sides. Fuego says that when you love someone, you love everything about them. Swoon!

Gala comes to talk to Bosco. She flashes back to one of her binge eating sessions and asks her bother if he’s happy. Neither of them seems so.

Mauro is listening to the Roble, too, finds out Lupita could die, thinks it will be a difficult time for them. Gin couldn’t care less, now she’s waiting on news about Vermin and Monito.

Mauro finds out about the blood donation and thinks they didn’t really have to hurt Lupita. But Ginebra wants to hurt all the family, they’ve been hiding Samara. She reminds Mauro how much they had to endure when they were kids, and they were all alone. No comfort from anyone!

I thought Vermin would go to the hospital, too, but he’s actually taking Monito somewhere. The boy is no fool, realizes something is off. He removes his seatbelt and grabs the hand break; as soon as the car stops, he runs outside. Vermin loses him.

Paz and Mireya are donating blood, trying to stay positive. Paz has a fantasy about her mother showing her daughter, Maria, how to cross the street, but in her fantasy her daughter is Sam. Mireya thinks this is because she loves her like a daughter.

Nandy calls her to say that Samara is not doing well and Paz can hear her cry and ask for Lupita.

She goes to see Sam, who has fallen asleep in the meantime. She had to take the risk to come, she feels their time together will soon be over. Sam wakes up and they hug. Mireya calls and she is sobbing on the phone, making Paz think the worst. But Lupita is not dead, she is going to get better, the doctor who Esteban brought managed to save her life.

As soon as she hangs up, Pepa and Salo ask their mother why did she lie, the abuela is not doing better, she went into arrest, the doctors are working to keep her alive. Mireya couldn’t tell Paz the news over the phone, they need to have faith.

Vermin arrives at the Nicoliti house to tell Mauro and Ginebra that Monito managed to escape.

Ginebra tortures him for a little bit, but then she gets a call from one of her men who tells her Paz is with Samara. Mauro threatens Vermin a bit more, then Gin tells him she wants to go after Paz NOW. But Mauro thinks they should wait, finish them off at the same time.

Samara wants to go back to the Roble house, she wants to go with Paz. Honestly seeing her beg Paz not to leave her alone again is worse than any kind of torture she has been suffering so far. She doesn’t understand because she misses her and abuela Lupita so much. Paz says they will always be together even when apart, it is their magical connection, their destiny. She loves her so much, but she can’t put her in danger. They start singing their song again.

Adriana, thank you, for your very fine recap. Your title says it all. I have had enough of the wailing.

I hope they do not kill Lupita off having never expected Rubio to have stabbed her in the first place. If Paz would have told the truth about Samara to the police and social services Lupita would be just fine. The fact that FINALLY Paz was going to tell the truth to Esteban when she got the call about Lupita was one big YAWN. I think we know where this is headed and it isn’t good.

That Ginebra could get Rubio a jail pass for the night was an interesting twist.

The highlights last night for me were Monito biting Bosco and then finding a way out of Vermin’s taxi to hell. At least there is one character who is awake to the threats around him and not sleep walking into self-destruction as so many are.

Vermin got what he deserved. Ginebra always finds a new way to cause pain without dirtying her hands, just her shoe? They have made his character too stupid.

All that being considered, I will be watching tonight! ; )

Adriana,

Your kindhearted, beautifully written recap made this dark, depressing episode somewhat bearable.

Sam's brokenhearted distress was almost unbearable to watch. She is at her emotional end; how much more can this child endure?

I have always loved Monito, even more so now. Street savvy and intuitive, he knew he had to get out of that cab and bless his heart he did just that

"Alone with Mireya’s boys, Mauro tells them that he is dating her, she even slept with him the other day". I am not a proponent of violence, but I would have happily watched Salo stomp on his head.

Pepa (who to me is one of the more interesting but unexplored characters here) is under threat from lumbering, nasty Bosco. He better not harm a hair on Pepa's head.

Jarifa, Vermin did "get what he deserved". Not one iota of sympathy from me.

Paz decides to tell Esteban the truth but as TN law dictates, she is too late and all the damage will be done.

Lupita just cannot die...she is the greatly needed glue that is holding this family together.

Fuego in love with Elvira? Nopis. Not believing it. Impossible.

Thank you for yet another wonderful recap.

Diana

Cher Adriana, Merci beau coup for capturing all the drama.

Oh my...one night of love and happiness immediately followed by that phone call from poor Lupe. I wonder exactly how many hours of love and happiness Paz and Esteban actually got ...maybe three ...dinner..flirting...the main event ???

When Vermin was yelling and grimacing , I wondered what Gin was doing to him. Then, the camera pulled back, and we see her spiked heel on his bits and pieces. I flashed back to Invencible and remembered Columbia doing the same thing to the young villain . This must be a favorite device Of Osorio for villainas to show power over men.

Monito is fast and Street smart . Run , little guy !!!! He bit Bossy boss because he thought he was going to use that sword on Pepa, his new hermano.

I just read an article about the traits of an alpha male , and Daniel is trying hard to give these traits to Esteban. I hope he stays smart and loyal to Paz when the truth comes out.

Fogo needs to get out and meet more women . What is attracting him to nasty, snotty Elvira?

Cent wait to see what happens tonight. I hope Lupe survives . I hope Esteban stays crash in love with Paz when the truth is revealed . I hope Vermin tells Paz that Sam is Maria.

Thanks, Adriana.
I do wonder what would have happened if social services learnt what happened. Samare surely would have ended up with Gin, who would have pretended she knew nothing about what Mauro was planning. Unless Samara would have remembered Gin was horrible and told the social workers.
Elvira surprises me. She is awfully rude but Esteban can't point it out? I mean, if you keep banging on about the same stuff, people are bound to notice!
What is Mauro planning with that whole 'we are going out' speech? And I can't get over the fact this relationship makes Miraya seem foolish. Couldn't she hire a guy to have some good time? Mauro appears to be right that sex is a sure way to 'control' her because it's all they've done so far.
Ginevra talks about how Paz got in her way. But stealing her child is no big deal. Ginevra's lack of self-controlsurprises me. It seems that if it wasn't for Mauro, she'd go and murder the entire family in a fit of anger. Or at least she'd put Paz in jail first.
Bosco is a nasty prick. Would he have stabbed Pepa? The guy has done nothiing to him.
I still wonder about Elvira's better qualities. I don't really think she has any. I don't get the sense she cares about anyone really. Even her search for Gin seems a result of her feeling guilty. I bet if they managed to have a decent relationship and Ginevra did something that Elvira didn't like, she wouldgo to great lengths to stop her doing what she wanted. I struggle to have any sympathy for her because of how she treats Esteban and because she's always the victim and 'knows better.' I bet she'll be redeemed, though. Or maybe Gin will kill her off before that happens.
Am I the only one who gets sick of teenage drama? I can usually watch it but I'm bored with Gala forsome reason.

OT
Soneone mentioned reading a novel about psychopaths and sociopaths. Can anyone tell me the name of that novel?

Thanks, Adriana, i enjoyed your recap. Paz needs to tell Esteban everything. And Vermin needs to tell Paz and family that Ginebra and Mauro want the whole family dead.

I thought the doctor said something about Lupita having a rare blood type. And both daughters said they had that type. If this is true that may be how they find out, or at least suspect, that Sam is Maria. Sam will have to be badly injured first.

Mauro telling the boys he slept with their mother was just sick. Who does that! I hope they tell Mireya and she dumps him, quickly. She needs to check the necklace too.

So Elvira doesn’t think she’s a snob. But goes on and on about the barrio and the people that live there, and the hired help. Fuego must really be in the “love is blind” group.

I hope Monito turns up at Esteban’s house. I thought Bosco planned to use the sword on Pepa. He picked it up and said something about the perfect birthday gift.
I’m hoping Lupita survives and Paz tells Esteban the truth!

Liz

Celebrating a little old lady getting stabbed is bad enough, but telling two teenagers you bonked their Mom? MAURO, YOU ARE DEAD TO ME.

Blue Lass, yes, Mauro has definitely crossed a line there. I hope Este an gets to give him a couple good punches.
