El Amor No Tiene Receta #86: Outrage

Ginebra had the gall to tell the public on television that she had been unjustly arrested. She then said that justice would come for her accusers. Esteban was incredulous and outraged in view of the list of her crimes and the evidence presented. Humberto was equally astonished.

Mireya told Mauro that if he loved her his better side would leave her alone. He told her if she wanted to protect her sons she would leave with him. She refused, saying that he and his sister were demons. He said she had 24 hours to decide.

Ginebra provoked Paz over Maria, saying that God will allow her to recover what was taken from her “starting with the daughter I raised. Are you going to give her up, Paz Roble? Of course. Sam is mine... ” and the rest was drowned out by Paz' justifiable anger and her declaration that nobody will hurt Maria again. This was a clear threat. Esteban tried to calm her down. Paz said she could kill Ginebra with her own hands. Elvira turned off the TV set and said she understood. “I gave birth to her and she is full of hate, but you are not like that.” She then said she herself was the one who should confront Ginebra. Paz left the room to see Maria and Esteban followed her.

Paz told Mireya, who had been watching Maria. Esteban tried to assure them about the stepped-up security, including police protection in the barrio for Lupita. As he and Paz left the room Mauro's deadline echoed in Mireya's head.

Elvira started talking about next steps when Gala and Bosco entered, also having just found out. Elvira declared that this all started with her and it will end with her.

After dark, Ginebra got to Mauro's hideout apartment where Abdul let her in. They hugged as she said nothing will stop them.

Paz and Esteban checked up on their kids; all were still sleeping in the same room. They tried reassuring each other that all would be well.

Elvira and Lupita actually began talking like two mature friends. Elvira talked about her feelings for Fobo and Lupita about hers for Porfirio. They were encouraging each other. [Did it take this series of disasters to make this happen?]

Gala headed for the fridge. [Ominous music was heard as] She removed multiple containers from the shelves, then put them back for a plate.. Salomón stopped her before she could begin binge-eating and put the plate back. He poured a cold drink for her and got her talking. She started expressing her anger about Ginebra getting out of the slammer. He tried telling her that justice will prevail.

Esteban and Paz lay in bed, talking about their good fortune this far [Isn't it a little early for her to be wearing full p-js?]

Ginebra commented on Mauro's accommodations as she fingered her wine glass [I'm betting the contents came from Vampire Vineyards] and made her usual nasty insults about Elvira et al. She could not wait to pay them a visit to see their anguish. Mauro tried to tell her they needed to be careful and not commit any crimes. She had just been released and he was still officially a fugitive. They had to watch their step also because of Sabón. As he poured himself another drink he said that Paz and Esteban had increased security. She was not surprised. After more disparaging comments about their weakness in believing in love and related things she said this can't go on if they're all dead. Mauro paused for a moment then asked if she cared about missing out on Elvira's fortune. She paused for a moment then said (I think) that she won't have the money but will have the satisfaction of her suffering. Paz and Esteban will not get to enjoy their love. She was determined to “make them all suffer.”

As she got Mauro's agreement to help she toasted their sibling relationship. He smiled back, but it did not look sincere.

4/4 Details here

Ginebra was her usual condescending self, mocking the grief she caused with the death of Berenice Esteban caled her a psychopath to her face. Paz got on her for taking her daughter and the babies from other families. She mocked Bosco for his trust in her and the rape accusation against him. He asked if she had killed Giovanna. She said no, but it would have pleased her. More of the same. Abdul arrived – and with gloved hands – handed over a note which fell to the sidewalk as Ginebra said it was her address. She and Abdul left as it fell. She said to enjoy themselves because the cavalry won't come. Gala almost picked it up when Esteban flashed back to the disintegrating black widow wedding photos. He stopped her from touching the note. Paz went inside.

Kenzo and Nandy talked; this relationship is not ready for prime time, so finito.

Mireya told Humberto about Mauro's ultimatum. He wasn't buying her belief that Mauro loved her or that he would help set a trap for Ginebra. He told her not to do this because her sons, her mother, and her whole family needed her. She wanted her whole family to be happy and when she didn't mention himself he pointed that out. She said she believed om him. They kissed.

The note – which Esteban held up on a pen or other slender object – was put put in the sink. It had a hotel address on it. Esteban mentioned the photos. They had to know the address before the thing disintegrated. [Take a picture with your phone, FFS]. Gala wanted to confront the demon. Esteban realized this could be a trap. Bosco asked why they don't hire a hitman. Esteban said “Because we are not criminals.” Paz backed him up.

Mireya was floored by the kiss but determined to elope with Mauro. Humberto said that life was short and he had felt a connexion with her and her sons. He almost begged for a chance with her. He did not want her to risk her life. He offered to see her out of the city. She had to think about this. Another kiss later it looked like she might be on the fence again. [Music here sounded like it was from a classic Hollywood film.]

Mauro was packing a small suitcase for the elopement. He told the bald guy to tell Ginebra he was off to settle things with Sabon. He looked at the passport he got for Mireya and the man asked him why he was doing this. Mauro answered that it was not his business. The man stepped away with an apology. He may have heard Mauro say to himself that  "Mireya is the only woman I have ever loved my entire life. The sort of love one feels in the soul. Profound emotions although my heart is rotten. It's worth all the risks."

Jerónimo and Gema were still determined to kill Gala and Salomón. In fact, he was getting ready to meet with Ginebra. [Yes, it looked like they had just done something we're better off not having seen.]

Salomón and Pepa cleaned their room [Too bad Cobija wasn't riding on the Roomba], their differences seemingly forgotten. Mireya came in, eventually saying she would do anything for them. She hugged them as though she would never see them again. Pepa looked like he knew something was wrong. [It seems to me that Mauro never considered the possibility that Ginebra would retaliate by killing them].

Esteban and Paz were ready to leave; Gala and Bosco was with their security chief. Gala was wanting to confront Ginebra, which would not end well. Paz was at a loss about this. Esteban told Paz about a family he knew as a child and the issues about it. She thanked him for the parenting lesson.

Sabón and Ginebra talked about him impersonating a child psychologist; he showed her the faked credentials. He was going to get Esteban to hire him. She liked his plan. He began flirting with her and she wasn't having it, even shoving him away from her. He then told her that Mauro was on the brink of betraying her.

Neither my cable company nor VIx had this episode up yet so I found three pieces of it elsewhere. No other screencaps because the video quality was not great. Please provide what I couldn't.

Thanks, Urban. Loved your recap and commentary. Wish I could help out with phantom part#3 but I am watching one too many things to remember the details. The only explanation for Paz’s full pj’s I can think of is too many (especially young) children in the house. With those little ones, she has to be ready at a moments notice to deal with them.

Just checked out next week. This will be pre-empted on the 25th for Premios Juventud.

I think the bald guy may have ratted Mauro out to Sabon who looks like he wants to get rid of Ginebra and Mauro. He or his boss could be trying to get them to turn on each other.

Urban, thank you for that excellent recap .

Well, Gin somehow got out . I guess nobody realized that Gin tortured the guard and prisoner. Jarifa , I agree that the novelas seem to be showing more and more violence and torture .Do TPTB think that is what viewers want to see these days ? This viewer doesnt. I want romance, at least one happy marriage\family, and HEAs for the good guys.

I agree that Paz is wearing no nonsense jammies because when you have kids in the house, you never know when you may have to jump out of bed and run to take care of something ...been there\done that.

Mauro is lost to the dark side as he refuses to turn on Gin. I have never seen any guy do that man spread like Mauro is constantly doing since he became irredeemably evil . What is up with that? I guess that's the way you sit when you want to appear large and in charge...but you're not. You try to spread yourself out as far as you can !

I am always amazed when Paz\Esteban\Elivra try to confront BSC Gin . Really ? You cannot talk sense to a crazy person .

My favorite part was Esteban and Pad cuddling in bed and trying to comfort each other as the evil intensifies around them. Sometimes that is all you can do when "the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune " are coming at you. ...cling to the one you love . #spooning

It was sweet when a softened Elvira accepted Manolo calling her Yaya.

I still have no idea why Jer and Gem are so set on killing Sal and Gala. QTH? I guess they are just nuts .

Mir is a fool if she doesn't listen to Hum , who has proven to be smart and insightful. Susan

Thanks, urban. And thanks to everyone for the last week's recaps. I laughed out loud at some parts, which made me forget how much I hated the explanation for Porfirio's resentment towards his son.
So whose side is Felipa on?
Mauro's talk about 'love you feel in your soul' made me laugh. You use threats to get that person to be with you. It's a good thing he won't ever write a book where he gives tips on seduction and his thoughts on love. His disregard for Mireya's kids is astonishing. So what happens to them is also 'a risk worth taking.' It's interesting that Mauro is as self-centered as Ginevra because to them it's all about 'I want this'.'
I tried imagining hearing someone say they'll take back the child they kidnapped. What a declaration... I This was a bit too much for me. Ginevra's impulsivity is rather fascinating to watch. Her self-control seems to be 0 and Mauro has to tell her to calm down. I wonder what would have become of her if it hadn't been for him. He is with her due to their shared experiences. I wonder if she'd have achieved this much on her own because I can't imagine anyone putting up with her nonsense just to get to grant her all her stupid and crazy wishes.

Thanks, Urban, that was great. I’m trying to think what was missing and my mind is blank. Wish I could help.

I didn’t realize Saban was going to present to be a child Psychologist. That’s scary for the family. I would think they shouldn’t let any unknown in. And I hoping Jeronimo and Gema won’t be able to isolate Sal and Gala.

I also noticed the pajamas, they’re still in the honeymoon stage!

I’ve seen several telenovelas with over the top violence. I don’t like it at all. It makes you wonder about the writers.

Great job, Urban! You got everything, as far as I could tell -- but I admit I did FF through a lot of the "good guys/gals yelling at Ginebra" parts.

Susan, ITA with your comment of a few days ago that this show has really jumped the shark. Why do we need so many prison escapes? So many poisons, so many flavors of crime, so many character flip-flops? It's almost as if someone gave them a big commercial endorsement if they could just drag it out for a few more weeks.

I think Fobo has it all over Mauro in the manspreading department, though. He's been at it from Day One.

I have been watching reruns of older novelas, and there has definitely been a change in the violence depicted . We see more and more violence in U.S. films and tv shows . I guess it has seeped over into the telenovelas . I never watched the narco dramas. At least we haven't had zombies or superheroes \antiheroes in novelas .

I pretty much wear my beanie fulltime in real life nowadays, so I suppose I will just keep it on when I watch the novelas. For escape , I watch beautiful Don Luis on his noble steed in Alborado, or Captain Ric rescuing his love in Pasion. Bring on the love, strong families, loyal friendships . I dont want to see the hate and violence . JMHO. Susan

I actually hope that these types of stories make people realize that evil should never be allowed to get the upper hand.

Letting anyone like Ginebra out of jail puts whole communities in danger. We all know that she will not rat out Sabon or his boss. I am astonished that she was let out after shooting a man on a public street in broad daylight with more than a dozen witnesses. She also killed another prisoner... again, in front of witnesses. She should be in a psych ward. I'm sure they'd have discovered she is mentally ill but not legally insane.

Since Ginebra's criminal life goes back at least 20 years I think she became careless over time. She got closer and closer to her Ultimate Goal -- destroying Elvira -- and then what? I wish Mauro had thought to ask that question at some point. He was tired of the criminal life many episodes ago and reminded her that they then had much more than enough money to live luxuriously for the rest of their lives. She had not destroyed Elvira yet, but I think she is a demonic sadist whose appetite for the pain of others is out of control. This is her addiction.

Mauro is a tragic figure because he is stuck in this trap. He knows his early life was anything but normal. His loyalty to Ginebra goes back to when she saved his life by killing the monster that adopted them to abuse them. In adult life he became a tech genius, could pass himself off as a sophisticated gentleman, and probably had no problem getting laid but he didn't understand love until he became an uncle and then when he met Mireya and her very normal and loving family. We saw this happen starting when he disobeyed Ginebra's order to kill little Samara. He could not do it. That was the birth of his conscience. He had been walking a tightrope ever since.

He's not been an alcoholic so far, but he's been drinking the hard stuff recently. He is self-destructing before our eyes. He has missed several opportunities to take the money and run. I don't think he could make himself kill Pepa or Salomon if the chips were down.

I agree that Ginebra probably needs him more than she realized. If he had escaped it might have led to more mistakes on her part and an end to her crimes long before this.

Kudos to Tiago Correa for this interpretation.

Urban, this was sensational.

"Elvira and Lupita actually began talking like two mature friends. Elvira talked about her feelings for Fobo and Lupita about hers for Porfirio. They were encouraging each other. [Did it take this series of disasters to make this happen?]" - and the answer is a resounding yes.

Thank you for relating all of the events so well.

I thought I would be so happy seeing Humberto and Mir together and yet all I felt was dread. I feel her boys are in terrible danger.

Does Mauro really think he will be able to get away from Ginebra??

I cannot wait for Ginebra's demise.

The tension is terrible waiting for the next heinous thing to happen.

Diana

Thank you for your amazing recaps everyone!

I think the reason the show has jumped the shark is because the original number of episodes was 72. With 23 epis added I wasn't expecting anything better. When will they understand that we prefer a shorter telenovela than a long, dragged out one? I guess they'll do anything for the ratings.

Mad that Gin got out, but not surprised. Mexico's justice system is a lot like Greece's, apparently. Some months ago they let out a convicted child rapist. And now he's working with children. A few weeks ago a man who killed his wife, strangled the dog, but their baby ON HIS DEAD WIFE'S BODY and pretended some thieves did it all took the Panhellenic exams to enter university. Everyone eas gossiping about which uni course he wants to take. They all called him either by his name or by his occupation. Funny no one mentioned he's a killer. WHO CARES about him entering uni. We're talking about the man who tried again two years ago but left because the essay's topic was about sexism and feminism. That's our justice system. So I 100% believe everything telenovelas show about Mexico's justice system.

Yay that Paz and Esteban will get a child psychologist, not yay about Sabón pretending to be one. Isn't Sabón spook people out? I hope Paz and Esteban don't hire him, but this is a telenovela, so I guess they will.

Honestly, WTF for Mireya and Mauro.

Have some errands, will be back later.

*Isn't Sabón spookING people out. Ugh.

I agree that the ratings must have been high enough for TPTB to decide to add more episodes. That is usually not a good idea.

With regard to the level of evil and violence I have to wonder about the narco-themed series. Televisa decided not to go down that road a long time ago Are these still being done and are they popular? I once said here that they should do a novela in film noir style with street light reflections on wet sidewalks, femmes fatales, hard-boiled detectives, etc. And a jazzy score.

I have a thing for true crime stuff and you do get somewhat numb to it after a while. There is a channel I watch that specializes in crimes against children that Ginebra would drool over. Almost nothing she's done shocks me anymore.

UA: This is why I prefer watching UniMas & Telemundo.
