This was Friday's episode. I just finished watching it. I'll put up the main items that occurred. In no particular order as I recall the episode.
Fernanda wants to find Francisco, that's her only hope that Emilio will be replaced in Elisa's affections. He of course does the deed with Fernanda again in this episode. This galan is not my cup of tea. I keep equating him with James Bond, he's into the sex for what he can learn from her.
Brenda and Gabriel are bickering a lot, each defending their respective fathers in the Beltran will trial coming up.
Gabriel taunts Alfonso by posting his picture on social media as the company's new secretary. Alfonso threatens to post photos of Brenda and disclose Gabriel's sexual dysfunction.
Not much going on with Alfredo this episode, except the trial. He tells his side, that his father wouldn't leave half his fortune to the son of a woman that had many lovers, Beltran is a thief ( I think a DNA sample is in order. But perhaps Alfredo isn't actually the son of the elder del Pino so that would come up false).
Alfonso is seen crushing some white pills with hypodermic needles nearby. I guess the doping of Moni is happening since Sebastian is going away to LA for a one day business trip.
Moni tells Sebastian she is unhappy, even with him. They mostly fight. She misses her life in Cambridge. He says they will discuss it when he returns.
Claudia is served a spiked tequila at the club. Miguel takes her to the back room and gives her to Rafita. She keeps saying no but can't move easily. Later she is furious with Miguel who says this is a way to make more money. She slaps him and he slaps her back. Erika calls Pati because Claudia never came home. Pati just dismisses her concern.
Mirna tries to plead Fernanda's case with Eugenio.
Looks like Ana is back in the clinic, it's the same red building as before. Francisco brings her a cell phone and gives her Elisa's phone number. She is worried Elisa hates her because of her mother. Francisco reassures her and she makes the call.
Wow. I can type up a recap much faster if I just hit the main items. I may just do the rest of them this way.
Another short one. I can't say I enjoyed this episode.
Elisa and Ana spoke for a bit on Ana's burner phone. She claims a couple of guys kidnapped her, but she escaped and is in a safe place. She swears Elisa to secrecy. I'm not positive she stuck to it, I think she let Fernanda know she spoke with her, but I wasn't paying super close attention.
Gabriel had another disappointing lovemaking session with Brenda and she thinks he isn't attracted to her. He swears he is. He then discusses how he would react if he ever discovered she was unfaithful to him.
Alfonso is trying to learn his new job but he isn't getting it, even though Roberto tries to teach him it. Roberto suggests he needs to go back to primary school which did not go over well.
Looks like they are going to do a DNA test to see if Alfredo and Eugenio are brothers. I got the impression both are willing to tamper with the evidence to go their way.
Claudia is livid. Miguel keeps telling her she is only young for a short time, you need to cash in on your looks while you can so you can buy the finer things in life you desire. To her credit she refuses but refuses to tell Erika what happened to her. Obnoxious Pati gets the whole story though. She makes her swear not to tell Erika. Claudia does not want to hear i told you so the rest of her life.
Francisco continues to be confused and thinking with his family jewels in regards to Fernanda. But he really wants to know who killed his grandmother. I think he wants Ana to return home so she can help discover the truth. I had a thought, in episode 30 she is afraid to go home because they will send her back to the bad clinic. Francisco promises he won't let that happen. Someone needs to marry Ana so they are next of kin and can override her family. Of course Francisco won't make that sacrifice, but perhaps he could pay Ignacio to step up with a platonic marriage of convenience.
Roberto keeps swallowing pills. Is he sick, are they drugs, I'm not sure.
Alfonso makes his move. Moni and he are talking at the family table( I thought she and Sebastian had their own place, that's his first mistake in not making his wife happy). She is thirsty. He gets her a bottle of (drugged) water. She gets hot and woozy. He maneuvers her to his bed as Fernanda looks on in glee.
Fernanda and Alfredo discuss things about his brother. I also think divorce is mentioned.
Claudia the ditz wants to get the money she is owed from her job. Pati tries to tell her to just walk away from it. I forgot to mention Miguel threatened her if she claimed rape. Rafita is a very dangerous man.
Fernanda tells Elisa she saw Moni going into Alfonso's room. She and Elisa go to check. Alfonso is sitting on the side of the bed very pleased with himself. An obviously dazed and drugged Moni wakens and sees them. I think Elisa slaps him, but that may have been in the trailer for tomorrow.
Monday, pt. 1 of 3
.
Happy post-Thanksgiving! I wasn’t able to watch Friday but did catch Dondi’s recap, so thanks for that.
.
Aslan bugs Hulya about what she and Ilyas talked about. She lies that he said nothing. Iskoc comes in with news of Sipsi (or “Reed” as the subtitles prefer).
.
Grandma Seher tells Devin, whom she calls Hulya, that she wishes she were dead. (Is that right? That can’t be right. Seher might be the cause of some of Hulya’s personality defects). Seher reminds “Hulya” that motherhood isn’t just giving birth, etc. and says other things that get Devin’s brain wheel moving. Devin asks which of the kids were adopted and doesn’t get an answer that I can tell.
.
Ceylan is having a fit about the pain she’s feeling and demanding drugs. Hulya asks Eko to get it for her.
Someone is drilling at a door of the house and Devin finally gets his attention to ask what the heck he’s doing. He’s putting in bulletproof glass on Aslan’s orders. She sighs and puts on headphones and goes outside and sees all the other security work being done and looks like she might be questioning some of her choices. There are also kids there watching? Are these the imaginary kids? Or maybe they’re just Leyla’s. I think they’re Leyla’s kids.
.
She walks by Leyla, who has just gotten into it with Tolga, and Leyla follows her into some box/shed type place. Tolga, who has walked away from Leyla, gets a call from someone of behalf of Ilyas. He’s offering money in exchange. They promise to not pester Tolga, never mind about the rest of his family.
.
Leyla walks into whatever this space is- garage?- and Devin takes off the headphones to talk to her about the last images of Suat’s wife that she can’t get out of her head. Leyla tells her if she can’t leave the Soykan family, she’ll have to distance herself from people she loves for their benefit. Devin asks if Leyla is afraid for her kids. She is, but these are the only family she has even though she’s been manipulated by them. She feels like a slave in the house. She says someone once told her loving should be as simple as taking a breath. Devin asks how they do that when it’s not so easy? Devin says she got news that should make her happy but isn’t sure if it makes her happy or sad. She spills to Leyla about the pregnancy. Leyla cries for her but she’s happy for her. Leyla apologizes for the things she says, that Devin isn’t her, and she should be able to make whatever decision she needs to. When Devin says that Aslan doesn’t know yet, Leyla promises to keep her secret and that she’ll love her whatever she decides. This is a nice scene and proves once again that Leyla is the best of them.
.
Ibo comes over to talk to Hulya about how all their friends have taken the side of Ilyas. Ibo tells her they can’t win this war and she needs to make a decision. She asks what decision? Hulya thinks he’s hiding something from her. He says no but says she must make Sophie’s Choice or the war will never end. She says for the first time in her life, she doesn’t know what to do. He asks if she’d be willing to sacrifice her own son?
.
She calls Cihan and tells him she’ll join him so he won’t be alone. He’s grateful. She stares at the giant painting of Yusuf. Cihan remembers finding the ultrasound and looks sad.
Monday, pt. 2 of 3
.
Iskoc has a chippy ring tone that doesn’t go with the mood when Sipsi calls with news he can’t give over the phone. He makes sure he’ll get his money, which Iskoc assures him he will, and they make plans.
.
Aslan looks stressed. He thought they had everything under control but look at this mess? He thinks it’s all happening because they aren’t a tight-knit family. Instead, everyone is looking out for their own interest. (Really? Might have something to do with murdering, and also your mother too, but those don’t seem to be issues for Aslan right now).
.
Iyas is having a package delivered to the Soykan by Salih, but we don’t know what. But then mam scoops out some food. Are these the death beans? The music seems the think so.
.
Devin has a facetime call with her friends and their family and Ilkay. She says she doesn’t’ think they should see each other for a while. Ilkay gets mad and wants to come get her right now. She gets mad back and yells “do you want to die?” Everyone left her, her receptionist, etc. He tells her again to leave and she screams that she can’t. No puedo!
.
Aslan finally gets home and holds Devin while she cries.
.
Eko and Yagmur walk around outside and chat. He talks about all this being because of karma and she laughs at him for that. She’s not a Buddhist, apparently. He tells her that he can’t live without her. They are all in danger and no one knows what will happen so he’s made a decision. He takes her hand and asks her to marry him!
.
Aslan tries to get Devin to sleep. She would rather talk. He says fine, get up and let’s talk. She tells him they have an important decision to make. And just as she’s about to tell him the news, a sound (shot?) is heard and they run out to the living area to find out what’s going on. Everyone looks to be accounted for and Aslan sends them all to the bunker. He gets a gun from Iskoc and they and Turgut start to go outside to see what they heard. Everyone else is going to the bunker but stop at the covered pool to watch a helicopter from above. (This seems like a bad idea). And then a body is dropped out of the helicopter and crashes through the glass ceiling and into the pool. It’s not Cihan. Maybe Sipsi? Everyone is shocked, especially Hulya who might have been thinking Cihan, but they stay put. Not sure why they have a bunker if no one will go there when they think they’re under attack.
.
Hulya gets a call from Ilyas that she ignores. That garage space from earlier was the bunker. They’ve finally gone in, but have now decided that it’s over and move inside. Aslan stares at the bloody pool. He thinks that if they don’t become a close-knit family, they will be destroyed. Hulya is so helpful when she blames Aslan for this. It’s all his fault and she warned him that this would happen. She says she took on the world for him and this is how he repays her? Ingrate! And she says he doesn’t have her blessing anymore. His bloody hand starts to shake. She is in the dining room when Devin comes in and Devin gets yelled at too. She will be the downfall of this family (somehow). She’s blaming Devin for everything, that her kids will die because of her. She can’t know what that means because she doesn’t have children, etc. Aslan is in the bathroom laughing. (He might be losing it). Devin tells her she didn’t just give birth to four children but also to every evil thing in this house. Devin isn’t taking this from her.
Monday, pt. 3 of 3
.
Ilyas calls Hulya, who has moved to her bedroom, for the decision. The adopted one or the biological? We don’t hear the answer but Ilyas asks if she’s sure? He tells her Yusuf always told her to keep the family together and now she’s had to divide them. But he thinks she did good and will kill the son she chose. We STILL don’t know which is which, but it’s not looking good for Aslan if he lost her blessing.
.
We see Cihan in the hospital watching over Aysel, and Aslan alone at the dining room. Hulya sits down at a dressing table, stares at a necklace, and cries.
.
Next day. Devin apparently got to sleep because the scene is her waking up, but Aslan isn’t there. She remembers the good times while a Mexican song plays in the background even though we’d all prefer to hear the Turkish song. She remembers asking Aslan at their wedding what their future will be like. He says challenging, which was an understatement. She mostly sticks with good memories. But then wakes up more and sees the new bulletproof glass, and now goes through the bad memories- the bad dream she had of everyone dead at The Table, the bomb. Outside Aslan is having a truck loaded up with what look like they might be weapons. Iskoc and Turgut are naturally there.
.
Scary beeping sounds from Aysel’s hospital bed while Cihan watches from the hall. They have to shock her heart back. It works once but stops again, and she’s gone. The doctor gives Cihan the news that he already knows. He says she can’t be dead. He promised her. He bought her a treat in case she woke up hungry and shows the doc the bread. This is a horrible scene and I am so sad for Cihan.
.
But we have end this chapter with Ibo getting in a car with Ilyas’s guy. He hands Ibo his “key to safety”. It’s a magnetic tracking device to stick on to “his” car. “Which car”, Ibo asks. Oh, you don’t know! Hulya chose a son. “Which one”, asks Ibo this time. And we get nothing! Until tomorrow, I assume.
.
Sorry about all the dots but I couldn’t get the paragraphs to separate any other way and didn’t want to take the time to manual edit. Too tired. At least I don’t have to worry about getting murdered in the middle of the night like these people do. I don’t think I do anyway.
.
K
Thanks very much, K, for a fine recap of a not-so-fine episode.
Apparently Ilyas has gotten two people from the Soykan side to collaborate with him: Tolga and Ibo. I think they were identified in recent episode as the two most likely people to be willing to help Ilyas. Tolga gets a phone message that 5 million liras have been put in his account. He's told that all he has to do is provide "privileged information" to Ilyas. Or he can say No and return the money. (Gee, I wonder which he'll choose.) As for Ibo, he's given a little black tracking device that he's told will save his life. All that's required is that he put it on "the car." Which car? As you've said, K, we'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out.
K, I agree that things are looking bad for Aslan, since Hulya suddenly blames him for everything and tells him he no longer has her blessing. And she then tells Ilyas she has made her choice. But I think the writers are deliberately misleading us. I do not believe that Aslan will be killed off.
One thing that troubled me during tonight's episode is that Devin puts on headphones and walks out by herself. She is one of Ilyas's prime targets. I expected her to have more sense than to go out alone at such a dangerous time AND to be wearing headphones, so she won't even hear someone who may be approaching her.
I don't have anything more to say, except that I kept wondering why Aslan's hand was very bloody. Did he help retrieve Sipsi's bloody body ("the package" that was delivered) from the pool? I'm surprised none of the other characters asked him about it.
Kat in SC: Excellent job with the recap of last night's episode. I will post my personal thoughts on last night's episode sometime this afternoon.
Halimacandy: Tried to warn you & Kat in SC that Slick Alonso & Crazy Goldie Locks would plot to destroy Sebastian & Monica's relationship with something disgusting as this.
Steve I knew it would happen also, I watched Pura Sangre last year. I just try to follow the rules and not post spoilers.
K, thank you for a great review of all the grim terror. I haven't watched this episode , and now I don't think I will. This show just gets more and more depressing and hopeless . Pain and despair on top of more pain and despair. I need some positivity, and there is now to be found in this morose sea of tears. Susan. ....uff
Kat in SC: Thank you very much for the recap of last night's episode. My personal thoughts.
116.) Right on cue: Crazy Goldie Locks & Slick Alonso plot their most heinous scheme ever: destroying Sebastian & Monica's relationship.
117.) Slick Alonso spiking the drink, which Monica drank OMG. We all knew what happened next: Alonso likely raped Monica & he was pleased with himself: SCUMBAG.
118.) Slick Roberto: No words needed on this idiot.
119.) Mirna still a gullible IDIOT; I want her off my TV screen ASAP. She's becoming a liability to Goldie Locks & Psycho Eugenio's plans.
120.) Sebastian: Oh boy. Just you wait buddy.
121.) Claudia still in a deeper hole she dug for herself & falling into prostitution. Rafita & Co., have more sinister plans for Claudia & with that, I say GOOD RIDDANCE.
122.) Patty: I cannot stand you either with your mooching all over Alfredo at the office for crying out loud.
123.) Ana: I really don't know what to think about her, she keeps confusing & frustrating everyone including the viewers.
124.) Did Tania & Marcelo make an appearance in last night's episode ?
125.) Brenda: I hope you've got some weapons in your personal effects to protect yourself just in case Gabriel & Alfredo want to have you killed.
126.) Francisco/Emilio still addicted to Goldie Locks: Wake me up when she's PREGGERS LOL. Because I so badly want to see it happen.
127.) Erika: Cannot stand you either & your BIG MOUTH. Don't you know how to keep a secret super secret ?
128.) Elisa: You have no damn clue about the ugly side of your family's dirty little secrets, which will come out very soon.
Gracias, K. Fine recap. I love the lighter tone you brought to last night's grim stuff.
With family members like Ibo and Tolga, who needs enemies? Does Tolga even worry his kids could get caught in the cross fire?
Aslan is smiling in the mirror, or checking if something is stuck between his teeth? Is he losing it, or coming up with a diabolical plan?
I know I should cast logic aside, but if Aslan is the adopted one I don't see how little Cihan and Leyla didn't notice their mom never had a baby bump before she had him. I too think Hulya chose Aslan. She's fed up with him and wouldn't hesitate to blame Devin if he gets killed.
Too bad about Sipsi. He didn't seem bad as a snitch and I liked his name.
I don't know how you do it, K. No matter how grim the episode might be, you manage to get me laughing. Thanks so much for another witty, well written recap. I loved "she might be questioning some of her choices". Ya think?
As Juanita stated, Ilyas paid Tolga up front. All he would have to do is be a decent human being and wire it back. Nah!
I also loved the scene with Leyla and Devin. Leyla even started desperately walking back all the things she'd said about living with the Soykans because she wants pregnant Devin to feel better. There were a couple of references to a "decision". Do they mean that Devin might abort rather than bring a child into a mob war? Never happen in a telenovela; can't remember if it does in dizis. Seems like her still not telling Aslan could mean she's thinking it could be best.
"Could these be the death beans?" Loved that. These writers might put me off beans for months.
I loved Yagmur teasing Eko about his "karma" reference. Yes, this does seem a bit too New-Agey for a guy who works for a crime family.
I liked that they called it "bunker" with that thick Spanish pronunciation. I always love borrowed words. God knows we have plenty from Spanish. NYT Spelling Bee accepts chica, maybe nada; can't remember.
Hulya went right around the bend last night. For a calculating person, she doesn't seem to use logic. The only possible way any of what's happening could be Devin's fault would be because of Yagmur and Serhat. Still not her fault.
I think Cihan has to be the one who dies. He's been talking about sacrificing himself for weeks. The galan can't be killed off yet. His possible reason for living...a baby, is gone. I can't decide for sure whether he's the adopted one or if Devin ended up preferring the adopted one: Aslan. And there has to be a stop to the hostilities. That kind of all-out war can't keep happening.
Great recap, K. Thanks. “"Could these be the death beans?" lol. I get nervous each time Kiymet brings a pot to the table.
Here’s the Turkish song that Devin listened to on her headphones:
Song: Ölümle Yaşam Arasında/Between Life and Death - Mavi Gri & Ahmet Hatipoğlu
YouTube with translation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvB6Txwu27w
Hulya said to Aslan, “sana hakkım haram olsun”. She’s not going to forgive him. He will be accountable for this in the afterlife.
Juanita, Aslan’s hand was bloody because he was squeezing a piece of broken glass.
Alonso claims Monica wanted it. Elisa drags him to her room where she chews him out royally. Meanwhile Fernanda accuses Monica of infidelity, how could she do such a thing to sweet Sebastian.
Tania calls Gabriel. More of the same about the paternity of Brenda's baby. He insists the baby is his.
Claudia goes back to the strip joint. I don't understand why. She accepts another drink from Rafita. In a later scene Miguel and Rafita congratulate themselves. She made 3 clients happy last night. She was insatiable. Tonight it will be 4. ( Is this drug habit forming after only one dose? Or is she doing it for the money after all).
Claudia overhears Alonso and Fernanda discussing the " seduction" of Monica at the breakfast table. Fern says no payment (sex from her) for drugging her, that was not the deal. You were supposed to seduce her. He whines she hates me, the end result is the same. Claudia goes upstairs and tells Moni she knows what happened to her.
Moni tells Elisa about how Alonso had gone to the kitchen and brought her back a bottle of water, after that she felt really strange and feverish. She swears Elisa to secrecy. She is afraid Sebastian will kill Alonso if he finds out
Elisa slaps Alonso and disowns him as a brother.
Eugenio and Alfredo are at a clinic getting swabbed for the DNA test. I'm curious if Adelberto' knows something about the elder del Pino. Something was said I didn't follow.
Roberto is looking pretty ill. Emilio tells him to go see a Dr but he refuses. Emilio finds Elisa who is talking to HR ( is she turning Alfonso in?). He tells her how bad Roberto is and she drags him off to the Dr.
Moni confronts Fern and she slaps her which earns a slap in return. Fern continues blaming her. Seems the "seduction" happened in Moni's room.
Ana is looking and feeling much better, now with a reason to live, she tells Erika talking to Elisa was a huge help. She has been thinking long and hard about what happened in the past and is convinced all her problems were caused by Fernanda.
More name calling and insults fly between Fern and Moni. Pretty sure Fern tells her she is going to tell Sebastian about the affair.
Roberto is undergoing tests. Kidneys are mentioned when Elisa calls Tania to fill her in.
Ignacio and Francisco discuss needing to go back to Dallas and find that photo the neighbor recalled. In last night's episode this was discussed also. The neighbor is wealthy so money won't make him look harder. Francisco wants him to find other proof. She lived there for years. Ignacio says she was a prisoner there but he will try to find more information.
Ana is telling Erika about the psychiatrist, suggested by Fernanda, that started her on the hallucinogenic drugs. But how is it possible that she recalls the name of Eugenio Beltran when no one had any idea who he was. I think she wants to return home to jog her memory. Erika tells her it is hard for people to believe her because she keeps changing her story ( when under the drug influence). Ana wants Fernanda to rot in jail if she killed her mother and Manuela.
Omg, Fern is spinning tales to Emilio in his apartment again. All about Moni and Alonso. He can't believe it. She says when Sebastian returns today blood is going to flow. (No sex so far. Is he learning to not believe her finally?,).
Moni is packing her bags with Claudia's help. She tells her how Alonso drugged her and she had no control. Claudia understands perfectly as the same happened to her.
Fernanda is telling Emilio about her past. (It does make you feel a little sorry for her).
Brenda is out to lunch with her parents and Eugenio . Didn't catch all of what is said.
Brenda thinks Gabriel should go to work for her father. Alfredo says he needs him, Alonso certainly can't take his place. Gabriel tells his dad that Brenda is likely expecting Alonso's baby.
Fern now is telling Emilio about her dead, but it turns out she is alive and missing, daughter.
Roberto likely has cancer in one of his kidneys. He has to return for a biopsy. That explains the back pain. He was just taking OTC pain pills, no hard drugs as I thought. He is freaking out. Elisa tries to calm him. He says no need to divorce me now, I'm going to die
Fern swears Emilio to secrecy. He is the only one to know her secret. She wants a life with him. He hugs her and looks rueful. ( If she hadn't killed and ruined all those poor souls maybe he would have forgiven her.)
Elisa brings Roberto back to his place and goes out to get him something to eat, even though he isn't hungry. She calls Tania, who tells her she is too good. Hire a nurse for him.
Sebastian returns to no Moni.
Roberto is convinced he is dying of cancer. Elisa tells him not to be so negative.
Francisco does tell Fermin about Fernanda, but not sure how much. Fermin' tells him Erika thinks Ana is ready to be discharged. He offers their place for her to stay but Francisco says it is time for her to go home.
#28 – Part 1 of 3
Wow! I wish I could say that I saw this coming, but I did not.
We begin with Aslan coming into their bedroom, pretending to be Room Service, bringing Devin breakfast in bed. He says ordinarily he’d serve her by the pool, but it’s windy outside [!] She asks him if se zafó un tornillo (he has a screw loose). Then she asks if he’s drinking. He replies that he doesn’t drink during his work hours, keeping up the joke. He asks her to lighten up. She reminds him that Ilyas threw a dead man into their home. She keeps worrying, and he keeps it up with sunny predictions of their life full of love. But Aslan gets the call about Aysel’s death.
Cihan is in the hospital looking like a zombie. Aslan and Hulya both embrace him. [I’m hissing at my TV, thinking Hulya has given Cihan up.] Cihan comes home. Leyla embraces him, and the whole family are tender with him. Eventually, he ends up sobbing in Seher’s lap. Devin is sobbing as well, telling Leyla she can’t do it.
Cemre calls to tell Leyla she’s sorry for the loss (of Aysel), but she’s coming back to treat Seher.
Tolga is playing with his mute son, Kaya, but he manages to drop a glass vase with green marbles inside. The child starts screaming. Leyla comes in and comforts Kaya, while Tolga looks dismayed and like an outsider.
Tolga goes outside to make a call to Salih. First big surprise! Tolga says he won’t align with those who might make his children’s lives into an inferno. He’s already sent back the money. Tolga smiles, looking relieved.
Ibo tiptoes into the house, overhearing Aslan telling Cihan that everything will work perfectly. “We need to be united.”
We see Ibo walking to his car. [What’s with the cane? He seems always to walk perfectly normally, even twirling it from time to time.] He gets a call from Salih. He tells Salih he’s with Team Ilyas. Salih laughs and says that someone has good sense. He also says that, if it hadn’t been for Cihan’s loss, they were going to do it today. Ibo says they’ve lost their minds (the Soykans) and only do things from their emotions. He tells Salih that they’re going to attack Ilyas’ neighborhood. Salih says that they’ll suffer another loss first. Salih asks if Ibo placed the tracking device. Ibo replies that he did.
Salih comes to tell Ilyas that Ibo is with them, and that the Soykans decided to attack his neighborhood. This makes the humorless Ilyas chuckle. Salih says that Ibo won’t join the attack. Ilyas asks about the tracker, and Salih says they’ve seen that it’s currently at Casa Soykan. Salih is organizing their attack. Ilyas wants to watch Aslan die, so tells Salih they should hold off until he gets there.
Hulya puts on a headscarf, looks worried, and thinks back to what Ilyas said to her.
#28 – Part 2 of 3
Cihan is leaving to deal with Aysel’s funeral arrangements, and Aslan says he’s got a little thing to do and then will go with Cihan. Devin is worried that he’s going alone, without Turgut. Aslan tells her something about needing to set up an arrangement should the family need to leave the country.
Seher is very affectionate with Cihan [upping my anxiety that she won’t see him again]. Then she starts another meltdown. [I’m starting to be over Seher’s outbursts.]
Aslan and Cihan get into separate cars, while Hulya looks on, seemingly terrified.
Ilyas does the Turkish hand kissing, then forehead touching hand gesture to his mother and leaves. We see Salih watching two tracking devices on his phone.
Seher tells “Hulya” (Devin) that she saw the dark looks on their faces (Cihan and Aslan). “It all began with the baby. You said that God had given you the baby.” [Flashback to Hulya yelling at Aslan and calling him ungrateful.] Devin tries to get Cassandra with Wrinkles to tell her which man is adopted but fails.
Ilyas gets out of his car and enters a room where Aslan is sitting on a chair. Two thugs are pointing pistols at him. Ilyas intones that Aslan made a grave error. “I’m like a brother to your father, and I knew you like a nephew.” Aslan: “If only you’d made your son a decent man instead of thinking of your nephew.” Aslan then thanks Ilyas for making them a family again.
We get another flashback to Aslan laughing crazily while we hear Hulya yelling at Devin. Then we see Hulya telling Ilyas over the phone that she’s giving Aslan as the sacrifice. Whoa! She hangs up the call, and we see that Aslan is standing right there. Hulya: “Why did you make me do this? If anything happens to you, I won’t be able to live.” He tells her that it’s the only way to find Ilyas. He says she’s kept quiet all this while, but he won’t let that miserable wretch threaten her anymore.
Ilyas gives one of his evil old coot chuckles, saying it’s a bit late for Aslan to speak of families. Aslan replies that it’s never too late.
We go back to Ibo listening to Aslan going over the plan with Cihan, but now Ibo walks in to join them. He gives Aslan the tracker. Ibo asks where they’ll lead Ilyas, and Aslan says it’s an abandoned factory. Iskoc has it all arranged. “We’ll kill him, and then we’ll burn him.” Cihan says it’s perfect for Ilyas the black (believe he refers to Ilyas’ soul). Aslan thanks Ibo, who replies, smiling, that they are a family.
We return to the big showdown. Ilyas: “If you were a family, there wouldn’t be so many secrets. Your mother wouldn’t have sacrificed you.” Aslan replies that Ilyas ordered her to choose one. “It seems you don’t know anything about my mother.” Ilyas responds that he’s the one who doesn’t know his mother. He told her to choose between her biological child or the adopted one. Aslan is shocked. Ilyas: “Now you will know about the horrible past of your family, and you’ll hear it from Yusuf’s own mouth…in the next life.” He points his pistol at Aslan.
#28 – Part 3 of 3
Cihan comes around the corner and shoots Ilyas twice. Lots of guys are shot; it was hard to tell which group got shot the most.
Saher never tells Devin which son is adopted.
All the Soykan guys get home. It looks like Aslan got shot in the upper arm. He approaches Devin: “¡Se acabó!” (It’s over.) He turns to his mother. “Se acabó; Ilyas is dead.
Salih gives Kiyat his condolences. She wants the key to Ilyas’ safe. [I don’t pity her. She cooked those beans.]
Aslan asks Cihan how many times he shot him “Twice. We blew the whole place up when we left. Forensics confirmed everything.” The Soykans are calmly describing how it went down and how their tracks were covered so the police won’t be involved. Devin can’t believe how calm they are.
Hulya gets a call from Kiyat, who tells her Hulya burned her heart up. “And now I’m going to set fire to your home. When this adoptive child learns about all your lies, he’ll burn your house down with his own hands.” Hulya tells Ibo what Kiyat said. Ibo tells her not to worry. He’ll take care of it.
Devin goes into one of her shrieking episodes. She tells him he lied to her face saying that about going for an arrangement to leave the country. She tells him what Seher said about an adoption. He laughs, saying that this is this year’s fantasy of Seher; last year it was about a Russian agent. Then he gets a call from Iskoc, who says that he’s handed over the blood samples to be analyzed. They’ll know tomorrow.
Devin isn’t coaxed out of how she feels. She says he’s lied to her. She can’t do it. She asks if he believes that they could raise a child in this family. He asks if she’s pregnant, face lit up with delight. She cries saying she’s 3 weeks along. She tells him that she won’t sacrifice another child to this. She isn’t going to have the baby.
Aslan takes it well, telling her not to make a decision too quickly. Devin asks him if he’s thought about she and their child awaiting the possible news that he’d been killed, day after day. He tells her that Aslan, his father’s son, left today and will never return. She insists she won’t have the child.
Aslan tells her that no one will insist that she do what she doesn’t want to do. Furthermore, he’d stand against anyone who tried to make her do that. He says he’s only asking for a bit of time. He’ll show her he’s put an end to “all this” and the three of them can have a new life.
Devin agrees, but she tells him she won’t change her mind. She also asks him to not tell anyone (about the pregnancy)..
The last scene is everyone at that big dining table, including Ibo and Cihan. Aslan thanks everyone for being there. It’s a lovely scene until Seher has another outburst, yelling at “Yusuf” for lying to the family, and for his sin.
Kat in SC: Amazing job with the recap of last night's episode. Now, my personal thoughts:
129.) Slick Alonso the ever EVIL to the core del Pino: satisfied of destroying Sebastian & Monica's relationship by drugging & raping her. Big question is how far will he go before the law enforcement authorities arrest him for rape or some other crimes like maybe murder ?
130.) Sebastian: You have no clue buddy. I sense he will blame Monica & dump her.
131.) Elisa disowning Slick Alonso as her brother. She also needs to disown Gabriel, who had Brenda's brothers killed.
132.) Francisco is still Francisco: His revenge plans are TOO DAMN SLOW.
133.) Claudia helping out Monica moving out of the del Pino house of horrors. Good!
134.) Crazy Goldie Locks still on a winning streak. But I think in a few months, I am looking forward to her epic downfall. Since FL is a hardcore death penalty state, I can see Goldie Locks getting the death penalty for killing Mommy del Pino & Manuela, etc.,
135.) Erika & Fermin offering their place to keep Ana safe, but Francisco wants her to go back home: uh-oh. Nothing good is coming of that.
136.) Ana wanting to come back home: NOT A GOOD IDEA. You will end up right back at the so-called clinic of horrors very soon. I know it's a slow Telenovela, but OMG.
137.) I do NOT think Slippery Robert has cancer. He's FAKING it all to keep control of Gullible Elisa.
138.) DNA test between Alfredo & Eugenio: Maury Povich needs to settle this once & for all.
139.) Rafita & Co., determined to keep Claudia all drugged up, pimped out & God knows what else.
140.) Ignacio or Francisco/Emilio going to the Big D to investigate more of Eugenio & Crazy Goldie Locks ? What could possibly go wrong because one of Eugenio's wealthy cronies might alert Eugenio.
141.) Enjoyed watching the slap-off between Crazy Goldie Locks vs Monica. Just wait until Maury Povich gives the DNA MIC DROP.
Steve, I think a cool twist would be the DNA doesn't match because Alfredo isn't a Del Pino. Dead daddy would need to be exhumed then to prove it. Alfredo would still be a beneficiary as he was born into their marriage, but it would be cool if his vaulted self worth and status was taken down a notch.
And part for the course our galan is just too dumb for his own good. At least this episode was a bit less dark than the night before.
I also wondered whether Roberto was faking it. Also par for the course in a TN is bribery and fudged medical records.
Wow, novelera! Many thanks for this terrific recap. It helped me put some of the pieces together. Thanks too for se zafó un tornillo (he has a screw loose). And I loved your referring to Seher as "Cassandra with Wrinkles"! I'm tempted to call her Cassie from now on.
This episode definitely had some interesting surprises, starting with Tolga's not going along with Ilyas and, especially, his returning the money. But is he really prepared to be outed to his family??
Good point about Ibo's cane. Perhaps he carries it for protection? It's not a bad weapon if someone attacks him.
I wonder how Salih can watch TWO tracking devices, especially if Ibo didn't plant his.
I think I gasped audibly when Hulya said she'd picked Aslan to be killed. Pretty neat plotting away from the dizi cameras. But still, one part of this plot still confuses me. Ilyas walks into the room and sees Aslan seated with two thugs pointing guns at him. How could Aslan possibly have escaped serious injury from the thugs as soon as Cihan shoots Ilyas?
Apparently Aslan didn't know that either he or Cihan was adopted. He certainly acted with amazing speed to provide blood samples (not just his, but Cihan's as well) for testing. Perhaps we'll have a new revelation in tonight's episode.
Gotta run. Again, many thanks!!
