Thanks so much, Juanita, for the mini-cap. You hit the high points to get things started. It's almost time for the East Coast folks to watch, but this is the first time I've been able to comment.

Lurk, thanks for stopping by with some fine snark. I would like to mention that the front page of Telemundo asks that commenters not reveal plot points of earlier versions of the one we're watching. I'm spared knowing these things because I never saw the one that's been mentioned here, and I'd like to keep it that way.

Yes, now it makes sense that the attractive woman who bugged out before the shooting started turns out to be a key player. Another thing that struck me is this: Why in the world, with Sebastián (Pepe Gámez) in her bed, would Sonia be having something with the revolting Jacinto?

In a way this seems like some older novelas on Uni. By that I mean there's SO many rotten females. Lucia is in first place in this horse race, but her sister is not far behind. And we have Sonia coming up on the rails. I do not love the numbers of scheming women in some novelas, feeling offended for my own gender.

I was surprised that we learned so soon that Juan José really did abscond with money from what sounded like a raid on a drug deal. And, his plan would have worked because the guy who originally stole it had died. He would have gotten away with it if Sonia hadn't overheard her husband and brother-in-law talking.

Recently IRL some people were killed who had gone to Mexico for some sort of cosmetic surgery. IIRC the cartel for that region either killed or turned over to the authorities the ones who'd committed the crime. Bad for business.

I guess they're showing some common tropes in the narco world. I've read about their hanging heads from freeway overpasses. In this case, they hung all of JJ's body. It was very sad when we saw Sebastián desperately trying to get his brother's body down. I was not sure if just to preserve his brother's dignity or to get that sign about his having been guilty of fraud away before the news vans could arrive.

Venganza #75 part 1
*Good news for Alfredo, only Gabriel is arrested. He tells Gabriel to keep his mouth shut, don't say anything without his lawyer present.
*Joseph doesn't run for the hills and offers Ana his support.
*Monica, Sebastian, and Marcelo are with Brenda in someone's apartment. They are offering her support. I think she said there were more than 2 guys and she wants them all to be caught.
* Mirna the confessor, is in her usual role as counselor to Fernanda. She asks why are you so intent on punishing Alfredo and hating the entire family. It was you that killed his wife, sent his daughter to the nuthouse, separated Elisa from the love of her life and also killed Manuela. Fernanda is still hung up being Alfredo's sex doll and on her having to always "feliz de Papa" and for that he must be punished. Myrna says but you allowed it so it isn't his fault. Fernanda says because Eugenio made me do it. Myrna points out, exactly, Eugenio is the culprit here. What is important is your child. Leave this place. Fernanda says not without francisco.myrna says you are stubborn as a mule. Myrna is worried about Roberto. Roberto is nothing to me Myrna, Fernanda says
*Alonso and Elisa discuss Gabriel. Then Alonso asks her about Tania. He tells her she has been like an angel to him.
*Paty calls Erika, who is looking quite pregnant now. She tells her Gabriel was arrested. 2 detainees fingered him as the mastermind. Claudia, Fermin and Nacho are with Erika. Claudia says she is sure the 2 are Miguel and Rafita. Lightbulb moment for Erika Fermin and Nacho that Claudia knew about their involvement. Erika tells her God will never forgive her for not saying anything. Claudia insists it was because she was worried for their safety.
*Marcelo calls Marcelo and company and on speakerphone tells them Gabriel is accused of the deaths of the parents and brothers of Brenda. She can't believe it.
*Miguel and Rafita won't tell on their accomplices.
*Fernanda calls Roberto who is at the emergency room feeling awful.
*Brenda recalls Fernanda saying how strange her brothers and her parents were all killed. She realizes that must be why he didn't want the divorce and it is a small jump to realize she was likely their next target. She wants him to get the death penalty.
*Gabriel is being questioned by the police. He blabs after being presented with some facts.
*Alfredo wants to talk to Gabriel alone.
Paty sits at the dining table with Ana and Alonso. She wonders who will take over Gabriel's position. Ana says not so do as he can barely read or write. They realize he will get the death penalty since he murdered 4 people. Paty says poor pap. Alonso tells her to go away, take a bath, perfume yourself and play your role with papa. He wants her to leave them alone.
*Brenda thinks Alfredo is in on it all as Gabriel never does anything without his input. She won't rest until all guilty are caught.
*Elisa tells Francisco about maiming Alonso on promise of secrecy. Does Alonso know? Nope. She couldn't tell him.
*Next day, the press are outside the office. The scandal will damage the rep of the business. Sebastian and Dad talk. He is convinced Gabriel is insane. He is blaming the bad blood of their mother for Gabriel's ( and Ana's) mental illness.
*Paty visits Fernanda. She says you work fast. Nobody knows I have you the info. What info Fernanda asks.
* Roberto has cancer in the other kidney. It needs to come out. Dialysis will keep him alive until he is able to have a donor.
*Elisa visits Moni. This is where Brenda has been staying. Elisa apologizes for her brother.
* Mug shots of Miguel and Rafita are taken. They hope they get sent to the same prison, lol. Gabriel is sent to their holding cell. He insults them for turning him in. They say we should never have gotten involved with trash like you. Them's fighting words. He gets beat up by the two

 

Venganza #75 part 2
*Press parked outside the del Pino house. Claudia talks with fermin'. She wonders if Nacho will forgive her.
*Alonso calls Tania and plays her. Says his injury actually was the best thing that happened to him. He loves her.
*Alfredo and Sebastian talk. Roberto is MIA. Sebastian is worried about the business. I think he wants Sebastian to take on Gabriel's position in the company.
Fernanda calls Roberto and learns his news. He is resigned to dying. Fernanda rolls her eyes but does say where there is life there is hope. Myrna walks in and tells her his news.
* Marcelo tells Francisco that Brenda believes Alfredo is also involved. Francisco is in agreement but date not mention the possibility to Elisa.
*Brenda tells Elisa and Moni she wants a divorce and Gabriel to be executed. Brenda says the press want to interview her. Elisa says it's the same at the business.
*Fernanda tells Elisa and Francisco, at the office, that Roberto is back in the hospital and will lose his other kidney. Fernanda tells Francisco she doesn't believe in being a single mother. Francisco says I won't marry you. She says, no problem, I'm going to another state to abort it

130.) Crazy Goldie Locks aborting the baby was NOT surprising. Yet, FL has the most anti-abortion laws in the Sunshine State: she does realize the South is ANTI-abortion.

131.) How long can Alfredo avoid getting his Karma ? With just 20 episodes left, it might NOT be long.

132.) Memo to Tania: Slick Alonso has you figured out & he will get his revenge on YOU.

133.) Right on cue: Scumbag Alfredo blames his late first wife, Maria Louisa's bad blood. Really JACKASS?

134.) Erika was right to call out Big Mouth Claudia for Claudia's complicity in the deaths of Brenda's parents, etc., God does NOT like ugly Claudia & you will get some Karma down the road.

135.) Mooching Roberto's other kidney is having issues? Maybe if they kill of one of the characters: he might get BOTH kidneys.

this is not a Dizi, el (not Jose) Cuervo is following Gloria around smashing her stuff instead of smelling it. Ace of spades is it?

Thanks, Lurk, for getting us started. I can add a few things.

We see Cuervo waiting behind a wall in what I assume is Gloria's house. (I'm not sure how he got in.) Gloria is there, wishing to herself that JJ had told her something, anything, about the missing money.

We also have a brief look at a young woman who is a chemist. Alas, the narcos apparently wanted some chemists, so they apparently kidnapped her (and others). One of the narcos tells her that the metal thing they've just attached to her leg won't cause her any problem as long as she is there. But if she tries to leave, the metal thing will explode.

Agent Torres's assistant locates Torris's sister and makes an appointment at the same clinic where she is. He eventually meets her and proposes that they have coffee. She ultimately decides that there's something strange about him and the circumstances of their meeting, and she leaves. It's not yet clear what this has to do with the other aspects of the novela.

Back at Gloria's, Gloria has left, but Cuervo is still there. He looks at photos of Gloria and her family, and he kisses one of the photos of Gloria. He leaves what looks like a playing card and leaves.

Gloria learns that all her family's assets have been frozen, including bank accounts, supposedly because of the investigation into the missing $5 million.

Gloria meets Facundo, the very capable son of one of her mother's employees. But uh oh, we learn that he too is studying chemistry (like the young woman who was kidnapped).

Gloria's mother prays to the Virgin Mary to help Gloria and give her the strength she'll need.

Jacinto, who may be part of the family and is the Governor of somewhere or other, presses Gloria (literally as well as figuratively) to tell him where the money is. She gets away from him for a moment, but he catches up with her and grabs her again.

Some people are pressuring Duque to do more to pressure Gloria into telling him where the money is. He replies that he is patient, that little by little she'll become more desperate and will come to him.

I don't recall the name of the young woman chemist who was kidnapped, but we do see that some people are surprised that she seems to be missing. She has always been so responsible.

Meanwhile, the young woman chemist is told by one of the other captured people that one person did try to escape, but the ankle thingie exploded, "and he bled out in front of us."

There's much much more, but as usual I can't recall what it is. I hope others will chime in.

Thanks so much, Lurk and Juanita for getting the comments started. Lurk, I am also wondering who El Duque reports to. I guess he has that apodo because he doesn't look like a narco, well dressed and elegant. And yes, not a dizi, so less smelling. Although Cuervo did smell Gloria's wedding garter just before his beatdown to prevent a rape.

Juanita, I suspect Torres will have a key role as things move along. In the Wiki, he's listed second, right after Fabiola Guajardo. The writers are definitely including real headline items in Mexico: proliferation of bargain cosmetic surgeries and corpses or partial corpses displayed for all to see.

I also really hated the young chemist being kidnapped. I have a sense that we're in for weeks of darkness before any light.

Jacinto is said to be the Governor of Baja California, which is one of the 31 states in Mexico. There is no similarity to the current governor of that state. Mr. Google tells me that it's a woman, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda.

Not only did the one escapee, I think, have his leg blown off. But the sadistic people in charge of this drug factory deliberately let him bleed to death as an example to the other captured chemistry majors.

I would like to defend Mexican doctors. Seems like Mexico either doesn't have or has a very weak version of the AMA. Many years ago, I worked with a young Mexican man who did a lot of damage playing soccer on Saturday. He went to Mexico and had excellent surgery for probably 1/20th of the U.S. cost. Since he did it on the weekend, Workers Comp was not available for him to be treated here and he'd declined the company medical insurance, not wanting to pay the 50% of the premium the company plan had.

I don’t know what to think of this TN. Still not so impressed. Will this reboot make me miss Blanca Soto?

I hope we have enough interest to maintain a patio, no matter how small. I would hate to see the Telemundo page go dark once Venganza ends.

I will attempt a recap for tonight and post it on Saturday.

the young girl kidnapped by the narcos finds out the new drugs today require higher trained personnel, thus the kidnapping of students.

that was pretty strange that the quack agent Torres has his assistant go on a coffee date with his sister ?? while he listens and watches through a camera in his glasses, it was more like the assistant was hitting on her.

El Cuervo left a card at Gloria's with the Ace of Spades on it, also the tattoo on his wrist, also the label put in the drug merc to identify the brand, she slipped the card into her pants.

Gloria has an independent accounting business, which also got attached by the warrant, and none of her clients will advance her any money.

Jacinto, I think is married to sister Luisa.

Luisa set up the wake of their father separate from JJ's and tried to kick Gloria out. Strange how no one was at JJ's.

the Duque's plan is to take out all of the people around Gloria, I think there is an arrest warrant for Sebas for attacking governor Jacinto, till she comes begging to him, El Cuervo wants to do the up close surveillance on Gloria, and Duque has to jerk back on his leash.

Telemundo will re-air the episodes Sunday at 2 pm. I haven't watched much since the premiere, so I'll try to catch up. The two sisters' hatred of Gloria and Cuervo's obsession are off the charts.

Cuervo breaks into [or walks into] the house. [don’t they lock their doors?] He creeps around with a gun. Gloria is in the shower and Daniel is sleeping in the bedroom.

Daniel wakes up and calls for his mom. Cuervo ducks around a corner. Daniel gets out of bed, knocks on the bathroom door and enters. I woke up alone, he says, I was scared. Gloria tells him all is okay, go back to the room, you can play games on my phone. The kid complies.

Sonia is brought before Duke. She’s ticked that she was forcefully taken. He calls it a warning. She will know what’s coming if she betrays him. She assures him, you can trust me. Since I’ve been working with Jacinto at City Hall, I’ve kept you informed of everything. I told you that JJ had your money.

Duke says he hasn’t recovered that money yet. Sonia asks, what happened to your hand? He tells her it was Gloria’s doing. He has to wear a prosthesis. Gloria won’t escape him so easily. He cautions, if you continue to fail me, I’ll take it out on your family. Sonia says Gloria is staying with her and she’s trying to get the information. He tells her time is running out. Tick-tock… They proceed to slobber over each other. [Previous ep, she was with Jacinto. Maybe evil turns her on. I wonder if Sebas gets any?]

Ernestina tends to Jacinto’s boo-boo. Sebas attacked you? He plays the victim. Sebas and Gloria have gone mad, he says. Gloria called me because the police raided her home. She asked for my help. I bought her time, but she went crazy. She set fire to the curtains. Ernestina is alarmed, what about Daniel? He didn’t witness it, Jacinto replies, I’m done helping Gloria.

You shouldn’t help her, Ernestina says, she doesn’t deserve it. Not after the scene she made at Dad’s wake. [huh?] Jacinto agrees and tells her he wants the public to see that they have cut ties with Gloria. It’s to save his political career. He says, I’m holding a press conference to explain that we’re going to arrest Sebas, but Gloria is your sister. A statement from you will be stronger. Ernestina seems hesitant.

Cuervo continues to creep around. Gloria is still in the shower when he enters the bedroom. She senses someone is there and calls out thinking [or hoping] it’s Daniel. She exits the shower and wraps herself in a towel. Cuervo grabs her from behind and covers her mouth. Don’t let your kid know we’re about to have fun. He threatens to kill Daniel.

Daniel is playing with the phone. He hears his mom shout, no! He goes to the bedroom door, Mom, are you coming? Gloria tries to get away and Cuervo threatens her with Daniel again. Daniel starts walking around the house looking for Gloria. Cuervo wants Gloria to send Daniel back to his room so they can have fun. Gloria calls out to her son—I’m in your uncle’s room. The boy rushes to the door. It’s locked. He wants in. She manages to get him to go back to his room.

Cuervo says some disgusting things to Gloria. She begs him not to hurt her. She remembers Duke had orders not to hurt her. Cuervo climbs on top of her. Gloria reminds him the boss said she can’t be harmed. He replies, they said I couldn’t kill you. But I can do other things. He buries his face in her neck. She whimpers.

Duke and Sonia have just finished their business. They talk about Jacinto “helping” Gloria. Duke wonders why Jacinto would help her. He only helps himself. Looks like Sonia is ready for another round, but Duke pushes her away. Sonia says that Jacinto believes Gloria has the $5 million. Duke laughs, does he plan to steal it for himself? He’s stupider than I thought. He’ll have to die, just like Cruz.

Sonia says they could use Jacinto. He could work for you without knowing that he is. Jacinto is the governor, and he has power and influence. We could let him find the money. You could easily take it when he finds it. Duke has to push horny Sonia off him again.

Sebas is lurking at the construction site. In a flashback we see he hid the $200k behind a brick wall. More workers arrive at the site. They are there just for today and will come back once the materials arrive next week.

Cuervo is turned on by Gloria’s fear. Aha! She uses that against him in a very bold move. She asserts, you only feel like a man when you overpower someone. Subduing women turns you on. He’s surprised by this sudden change. He backs off. Gloria continues, is that why you want to rape me? You’re a coward. Then, she offers herself. Come on… is this what you want? Finish what you started 8 years ago.

Cuervo is stunned speechless. Gloria mocks, what’s wrong, not much of a man now? Do you want me to cry? She gets off the bed and gets in his face. Do you want me to beg you to leave me alone? Ha, she grabs his package! He gasps. She wonders, is this how you will have me? Con que… si lo tienes muerto. Ding dong, his d*ck is dead!

Dirty cop Ochoa complains to Duke he had to pay the judge and the crew twice as much to do this job. Duke tells him money is no object. Raid Sebas’ house and leave him with nothing. Sonia is shocked—no, no, what are you saying? I’m spying on Gloria! Duke says he can’t take the risk of Gloria finding the money and running. She must be on the streets with no help.

Sonia starts to beg, it’s my house, my things. How can you do this to me? Duke can do her fine in bed, but business is business. He’s got to get rid of everyone who can help Gloria. Sonia asks, including me? What will happen to Sebas? Duke replies, I won’t do anything to Sebas. In fact, I’ll return all I take as soon as I get my millions. But if I don’t… you and your husband will die. Sonia is stunned. Duke reminds her of her wedding vows, “until death do us part”. You made a promise to Sebas before God, and you will keep it. Ha, he makes the sign of the cross.

Gloria gets dressed. She tells Cuervo she’s not afraid of him… not anymore. He puts his gun to her neck and asks, this doesn’t scare you? What if I put this gun to your son’s head?

The cops arrive at Sebas’ house. They think no one is home.

Gloria tells Cuervo, this is between us. Leave Daniel out of it. Besides, we haven’t had a chance to talk in 8 years. He asks, why did you sleep with Cruz while I rotted in prison? It’s not that simple, she replies, you don’t know how much I thought about you. He’s surprised and lowers his gun. We were so young, she says, you drugged me so I’d sleep with you. I loved you, Gabriel.

Cuervo is pained, I loved you in my own way… but I loved you. Gloria says, you never said it. You never said anything nice. You never gave me a chance, he whines, you were always living your life. We were just kids, she says, we are adults now. It’s different. He asks, what are you saying? You’d leave with me? Leave your son with his grandmother. I will love you and give you many more children if that’s what you want.

A cop spots Daniel playing inside the house.

Gloria continues to play Cuervo. Let’s leave. They start kissing but they are interrupted by Ochoa banging on the door. Daniel calls to his mom—someone is outside. Cuervo tells Gloria don’t scream or I’ll kill the kid. Gloria tells Daniel to lock himself in his room.

Ochoa calls out, Ms. Guzman, we saw your son. Open the door, it’s the police.

Gloria tells Cuervo to leave. It’s probably a group. They don’t come alone. You’re coming with me, Cuervo orders. Leave, Gloria replies, I’ll help you get away. Daniel calls out to Gloria, open the door, I’m scared! She tells him to go to his room. The boy keeps shouting. She finally shouts back—Go away! The kid goes back to his room.

Cuervo doesn’t want to run but he doesn’t want to go back to prison. Gloria tells him to leave through the back. She will help him get away. It looks like he’ll take the offer.

Ochoa and crew get ready to bust in. Gloria makes Daniel go back to his room again. She answers the door before the cops act. She tells Ochoa, Cuervo Rendon was here. He tried to rape me. He’s getting away. He threatened to kill my son. Ochoa orders his men to search the house. Cuervo manages to escape through the back.

Ochoa accuses Gloria of making a distraction. She argues with him. She’s telling the truth! The cops search the house and the grounds, they find no one. Ochoa tells Gloria she can file a complaint with the proper authorities. We are here because of Sebastian Cruz. He is accused of money laundering. Sebas shows up. Money laundering? Ochoa explains, due to your link to JJ, you’re under investigation. We are seizing your home. Here’s the order. They are taking everything, property, cars, assets.

Gloria objects. Ochoa says he’s just doing his job. She reminds him, my father was killed, I was kidnapped, and I suffered a miscarriage! My husband was killed! I was almost raped! Are you investigating that?! But you accuse us of something we didn’t do! Ochoa doesn’t care. He gives them a minute to vacate.

Sebas tells Gloria they’re doing this to pressure us. We need the emergency money JJ left. What money, she asks. He tells her it’s not the 5 mil. But it’s enough to get away. He tried but couldn't get at the stash.
Jacinto’s presser. He announces that Sebas is being arrested.

The cops come to arrest Sebas for attacking Jacinto.

Back to the presser. Jacinto blathers on while Ernestina sits stone faced beside him. Then he introduces his wife. She’s here to tell you that both she and I want nothing to do with any member of the Cruz family.

As Sebas is taken away, he tells Gloria to come see him, they need to talk.

Ernestina does as she was told. She cuts all ties with the Cruz family, including her sister, Gloria. The crowd of reporters murmur in surprise. Jacinto quiets the crowd so Ernestina can continue. We see Matilde and Luisa watching this on TV. Erna continues, my husband and I are together in our fight against corruption. If my BIL is proven guilty and my sister was an accomplice, she should be punished to the full extent of the law.

Matilde turns on Luisa, you talked her into speaking ill of Glora, didn’t you? Luisa denies it. But she supports everything that Jacinto and Erna said.

Gloria and Daniel are on their way out, when Sonia bursts through the cops at the doorway. Gloria tells her she tried calling her but there was no answer. Sebas was arrested. Sonia can’t believe it. They move out of sight and earshot of the cops. Gloria fills her in. Ochoa had an order to seize the property and then the cops showed up. Jacinto ordered Sebas’ arrest. Gloria and Daniel leave.

Sonia retrieves a phone from behind a picture before Ochoa throws her out.

Sebas is put into a cell. Jacinto has a techie open a camera on it. Does it have audio? Yes, it does. We hear Sebas call for that “idiot Jacinto” to come see him. Jacinto laughs. He asks the tech if he can record everything. Yes, of course. Now they will wait for Gloria to pay Sebas a visit.

Matilde confronts Erna. How could you do that to Gloria? Erna replies, I came because I knew you’d be angry. Matilde declares, I’m livid! My heart is broken. I can’t even breathe! My daughters hate each other. Will you kill each other next? Erna tries to defend herself, she didn’t lie. No, Matilde replies, you said what your husband forced you to say!

Erna counters, that’s what you used to do. You were married to an FGE officer! Politicians, police, they all do the same thing! They don’t ask advice from their wives! Luisa wanders into the room. Erna tells her mother, I followed your example. Matilde fires back, don’t talk to me like that! Your father was an honest man! Erna defends Jacinto. Luisa tells Matilde, you always side with Gloria. Erna reminds her mother that Dad was killed. We could have all been killed. Are you surprised I want nothing to do with Gloria?

Cuervo visits his dealer friend, Jesus. He wants one of those pills that get you sky high. Cuervo starts talking about Gloria. She burns hot… and she’s mine. Jesus doesn’t think so. She’s one of those higher ups. She’s branded. She’s not branded or anything, Cuervo replies, don’t you know Gloria is mine? She’s always been mine. She told me so. I went to the house where she was staying. I almost made her mine, he brags, but the cops showed up. [apparently his brain is as dead as his you know what.]

Jesus thinks Cuervo takes things too far. Cuervo relates how Gloria was there in a towel, wet and naked and she said she would leave with him. We’ll get far away from here. Jesus thinks that Cuervo’s been tricked. Gloria lied. He gives Cuervo another pill. It seems Cuervo doesn’t believe what Jesus says. Jesus shakes his head.

Hmm… Gloria is driving a car. She took it from the shop before it could be fixed [or confiscated]. Daniel says it sounds like a poor person’s car. Gloria doesn’t like that kind of talk. Daniel says, we’re poor. We don’t have a house. She tells him that she will change that. And there are some toys under the seat. Now he’s happy.

Sonia shows up at Jacinto’s office to complain. I’ve kept an eye on Gloria. I’ve been with her at her house, at the funeral home, and at my home. What do I get? You arrest my husband. Jacinto replies, he tried to act tough and stand up for Gloria. He hit me. Sonia says, Sebas isn’t interested in Gloria. He promised his brother he’d protect her. He intends to keep his word. And while he plays hero, Jacinto answers, Gloria looks for the money so she can take off with it. Sonia thinks Jacinto should have Gloria arrested.

Jacinto says, let’s think. Your husband is the perfect bait. If he’s locked up, we will find the money. Gloria won’t go without talking to him. I had a camera installed in his cell. They’ll talk about the money.

Cuervo is high as a kite. He talks about finding Gloria and taking her far away. Jesus says, listen to me, she lied to you. She’s probably telling the cops what you did. They are probably looking for you. Cuervo is in total denial. He’s going to rescue Gloria, and they will leave together. Jesus replies, what if Duke finds out you’re looking for her? He will have you killed. Cuervo answers, no… Gloria is mine.

Gloria tries to file a complaint against Cuervo for the attempted rape. It’s no surprise that the officer doesn’t give a damn. Not much can be done. He tries to get rid of her. She calls him out on his indifference. I was married to an FGE officer, I know something can be done, but you don’t intend to do anything.

The officer tells her more than one person would have to file a complaint for them to get the resources for an investigation. You need to prove Rondon is a danger to others. He adds, and you look fine to me. Gloria is furious. The officer threatens to have her arrested if she doesn’t calm down.

Fernando arrives home. He tells Luisa that Sonia is with Jacinto, so he’s not needed at the office. Luisa notes that Sonia has become more important than him. He’s not in the mood for this discussion. Luisa says she has to keep an eye on Gloria. Fer says, leave Gloria alone. Let her mourn her husband. What is your problem with her? Luisa mocks, she’s just a poor widow, no? Yes, Fer replies, she was JJ’s wife… not you. Do you think I’m an idiot? I know you never got over JJ. That’s why you hate Gloria. He was the love of your life, huh? Luisa has no answer for that. Fer walks away.

The officer tells Gloria the complaint has been filed, and they will call her if they need more information. They can leave. Gloria is seething. She asks Daniel to wait just a little bit longer and she asks if she can see Sebas. A female officer will watch Daniel.

Matilde calls Gloria. I want you to know I don’t agree with Ernestina’s statements at the press conference. I don’t know why she and Jacinto want nothing to do with you. Gloria had no idea this was happening, but she’s not surprised. Matilde says JJ hasn’t been proven guilty yet. Gloria says, I know the truth and one day I’ll tell my son, the only person who matters. Matilde says she wants to stay with Gloria. Her sisters have husbands, but she’s alone with Daniel. Let me help you. Gloria hangs up.

Torres and crew are planning the clinic raid. Another cop walks in and asks, what’s going on here? I’m Commander Tamayo. Torres holds out his hand. Tamayo’s not taking it. Torres continues, I’m Agent Torres from the FGE office in CDMX. Tamayo has heard. He asks, who gave you permission to use my offices? Torres replies, this isn’t the first time I’ve done it. Commander Cruz and I worked several missions together. Commander Cruz is dead, Tamayo says, and I call the shots here.

Tamayo continues, I wasn’t notified of this mission. You can’t proceed. Torres’ colleague is ready to jump in, but Torres holds him back. It’s fine, he says, as you wish sir. I’ll return to CDMX and tell Judge Ramos that you got in the way of a mission that hoped to put an end to a network of illegal clinics. A case they’ve been working on for months. Tamayo stops him from leaving. He asks for the mission details.

Jacinto is informed that Gloria went to the station to file a complaint against Cuervo. He tells Sonia that it’s not so important. Gloria is going to see Sebas now. They watch on the computer monitor.

Gloria tells Sebas that Daniel is with an officer. She asks him, how are you. He mentions his leg hurts and it’s been hurting since the wedding day. [They keep mentioning this. What gives?] He asks her where she will stay. Gloria tells him her mother called. She will ask her to pay for a hotel. She can watch Daniel while I’m out. Gloria says, I spoke with DeLeon, and he said it would take 2 million pesos to bail you out and get our houses back.

Sebas replies, use what I mentioned. I know where you can find the money JJ left you, but you shouldn’t go alone. Jacinto and Sonia wait with bated breath. Sebas tells Gloria, I need to get out and go with you.

Jacinto is ticked at Sonia—you said he didn’t know where the 5 million was. I asked him many times, Sonia replies, I thought he didn’t know. I can’t believe he wouldn’t tell me about the money. If you want me to keep helping you, get me a car. I can’t get around. All my assets were seized. Jacinto agrees. Sonia adds, and get Sebas out so we can get the money. She leaves.

Duke is on a business call. Sonia’s call breaks in. I said Jacinto would prove useful, didn’t I? Guess what? He installed a camera to overhear Gloria and Sebas’ conversations. Sonia wants to be paid double for supplying this information. She adds, and please don’t hurt my husband. Duke agrees [don’t trust him]. Sonia says they are going after the money as soon as Jacinto releases Sebas. Gloria and her mother will stay at a hotel. Duke reminds Sonia that those millions are his.

Hateful Luisa goes after Fer. You knew I was in love with JJ since we met. He never loved you, Fer replies, you were obsessed with him. That’s not true, she fires back. Fer says, you were to only one who believed he felt the same way. I knew JJ only had eyes for Gloria. She shouts, shut up! Fer continues, while he lived, your love was unrequited. What now? Do you love a ghost? Do you think so little of me that you still care about him after his death? He walks away from her again.

Matilde sneaks out of the house with a suitcase. Gloria and Daniel are there to pick her up. Luisa catches them. Did you plan to leave without saying goodbye, she asks Matilde. Don’t make this worse, Matilde replies, I didn’t tell you because of your reactions.

Gloria puts Daniel back in the car. She puts a stop to Matilde and Luisa’s bickering. A pickup truck drives by and shoots in the direction of the car and the ladies. Daniel shouts for his mom.

And we are out.

Wow, dondi! What an amazing recap! I mean, I've come to expect terrific recaps from you, but this one seems especially impressive.

Like you, I wondered how Cuervo managed to get inside Sebastian's house (indeed, how did he even know that Gloria was staying there?).

Thanks for pointing out that Sonia was having sex with Jacinto as well as with Duque. And perhaps even with Sebastian :-).

I too have no idea what Ernestina is referring to when she mentions the scene Gloria supposedly made at their father's wake. ???

I totally missed Sonia's retrieving a phone from behind a picture. I saw her go to the picture and move it, as if there were a safe hidden in the wall behind the picture. But the police arrive, and she hastily moves away from the picture, leaving it inadvertently at a slight angle that I thought might give the police reason to pay attention to it. I had no idea that she managed to get anything from behind the picture, let alone a phone.

I'm not sure what to make of the flurry of bullets from the drive-by car at the end of the episode. My guess is that it was done simply to frighten Gloria and make her feel more vulnerable, as Duque wants.

What impressed me most about this episode is it showed Gloria becoming mentally and emotionally stronger, as we see especially in her dealing with Cuervo. It's possible that I'm too influenced by Teresa in La Reina del Sur, but it's quite possible that Gloria may be becoming stronger and perhaps more self-sufficient regardless of whether the writers had seen LRDS.
