Short on time. My Zoom book club is about to start. Procrastinator to the last I finished the book an hour ago. I can recommend it: The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon. It's a best seller about a Maine midwife shortly after the Revolutionary War.
Thanks so much, dondi, for another fine recap with your on the nose asides. Yep, I did laugh at Aslan's comment about Bedri's hair. I enjoyed the thing we've seen before, the bribing to get the bride. Asuman especially seemed to enjoy her role.
Ah, Cihan, so many harbingers of your demise and still we hoped he'd live on in a role as favorite uncle.
#76 – Part 1 of 2
Ceylen announces that some people are here to see Aslan. We see a large group of people outside the house. At first, I think they’re reporters. One man is the spokesperson. They offer condolences for the loss of Cihan. The man says that Cihan helped them all. They’re invited inside. One guy says he was living on the street and Cihan gave him a job in one of his kebab shops. The spokesperson says he was an alcoholic. He stole a car while drunk and hit Cihan’s car. Cihan got him a job in a junkyard of wrecked cars. Now he owns the place, thanks to a bequest in Cihan’s will.
Ceyrek and Kiymet talk while she dabs at his ruined face. The evil old witch says she has money for them, and they’ll go to Romania. But first he needs to kill Aslan.
Aslan sends the Three Amigos to search Kiymet’s house. “Cockroaches know how to hide very well.”
Hulya tells Alif that Kiymet must pay. She swore an oath. We get a flashback to Hulya telling her she’d finish her off herself. Devin says that Kiymet will send Ferman out of the country, just like she did with Ilyas. She read a report about Ilyas that said he got into trouble, killing people, and Kiymet sent him to Romania.
The Amigos find a note in one of Kiymet’s mostly empty money chests. It mentions a bodega in Talapasha. They call Aslan about the note. They deduce that there’s money there needed for Kiymet and Ceyrek to escape. Then we see that Ceyrek had hidden cameras in Kiymet's former home and watched the whole thing. He tells Kiymet that they swallowed the bait.
Ceyrek arrives at the bodega and sets up his assault rifle, complete with scope. Our guys arrive. There’s throbbing, tense music. We see Aslan in the crosshairs of Ceyrek’s rifle.
Kiymet gives a bag of money to a passport forger. She needs one for her and one for Ceyrek. As the forger walks out, Hulya walks in. I must admit enjoying the terror on Kiymet’s face. Hulya: “You told me that losing a son turns you into a killer. You’re right.” Hulya tells Kiymet she’ll let her know where she’s going. Her son awaits her.
Before Ceyrek can fire, Eko grabs him. It looks like Eko knocked Ceyrek unconscious. He wakes up in an old car, with Real Handcuffs attached to the wheel.
Hulya points her gun. We then hear the shot from outside. [I guess the Turks are squeamish about showing an old lady shot in the head.]
#76 – Part 2 of 2
Aslan tells Mehmet, the owner of the wrecking yard, that they’re in front of a cockroach. Aslan makes another of his speeches, mentioning how Cihan let him live. He says he wants to crush him like a cockroach. The big car crusher grabs the car while Ceyrek shrieks in fear. He is indeed crushed.
Aslan, Devin, Ceylen and Hulya open that trunk with Cihan’s things. They’re smiling. The missing puzzle piece is found stuck on the back of a photo of young Hulya. She weeps.
An ultrasound. The child is healthy and growing normally. It’s a boy! But, of course, this is a dizi. The doctor finds something. There’s a fissure in a uterine artery. He recites a list of bad symptoms he expects.
A woman gives Devin one of those fabric bracelets, saying that Devin’s destiny means force.
In 2029 Aslan picks up a cute kid from school (in Urla).
In 2025 we see most of the females shopping for the baby. There’s an overloaded shopping cart.
Later that same day we see Devin showing the symptoms the doctor mentioned, one of them being severe coughing and a bit of blood.
So are we to suppose Aslan is a widower in 2029? I’m kind of tired of being jerked around.
Kat in SC: Looking forward to seeing your recap of last night's episode. Anything crazy happening ?
From your posts I wonder if you actually watch the show. I did not watch last night's show. Caught Wednesday's at 7 p.m. yesterday and I think my post will be a mashup of the 2. The end of Wednesday had Ana putting a pillow over Fernanda's head in her office. Fernanda was drugged with something similar to what Ana had been given all those years ago via her water bottle.
The other main item from that episode is Tania is starting to raise suspicion in Alonso because she got defensive about her "headache" the night he was cut.
Oh, also Ana and Joseph had a good time on their date night. If my understanding is correct they did it 5 times ( as she let Erika know).
Kat in SC: Ana & Joseph had sex like 5 times LOL. Good to know that she told Erika about it.
My hunch about Tania being discovered is going to be spot on & Slick Alonso will get unhinged & get even with her soon.
I see that Crazy Goldie Locks was drugged. I wonder who rescued the nutjob ?
Novelera, thank you for a great recap of all the unfolding revenge and violence . It has been exhausting .
I , too , am tired of being jerked around . I am not expecting a happy happy joy joy ending for those who have thus far survived . Susan
Gracias, Novelera. As always, I loved the way you zipped through the action. And thanks for the tip on "The Frozen River."
Crushed like a cockroach, a perfect ending for Ceyrek. I rate this villain demise A+.
I can't believe Devin won't have a HEA with her offspring. Devin, for pete's sake, call 911! and tell somebody you need help.
I noticed that the little boy in 2029 had Devin's red string bracelet with the tiny heart on his wrist .
Was Nedret at the baby shopping spree?
I think they are jerking us around yet again .I think Devin survived , but they are trying to make us think that she didn't . Susan
Thank you, novelera, for the fine recap. I agree, we have been jerked around a bit.
Ceyrek enjoyed having Aslan in his gunsights for too long, giving Eko time to stop him. Those were tense moments! Ceyrek got a gruesome , well deserved end. I hate cockroaches.
Hulya redeemed herself a little by offing Kiymet. I was surprised that Kiymet didn't have guards around the house, though.
I think seeing Aslan & son in 2029 is another misdirection and Devin is alive and well. The red bracelet protects her son as it protected her. I hope.
Beth S
Thanks VERY MUCH, novelera, for this and all your previous splendid recaps.
I found very moving the opening scene, where many people whom Cihan had helped come to offer their condolences and their compelling testimonies.
I'm glad we're now rid of both Ceyrek and Kiymet. I was surprised when Ceyrek assures Kiymet that "they took the bait." And when I saw Aslan directly in the crosshairs of Ceyrek's high-powered rifle, I had a momentary "oh no!" response. Clearly, the good guys won, but how?? Were there scenes cut out that explained how Aslan et al. prevailed? (Frankly, even if I had known that they knew Ceyrek would be there, I'd have been very nervous when Aslan was a very visible target for Ceyrek. I'm reminded of an earlier scene at the ice rink when Aslan is lying there and the baddies come toward him, guns drawn. In both cases, the only explanation I can think of as to why Aslan was willing to expose himself to armed enemies is that he'd read the script. :-) )
As for Devin, I was not in the least surprised that some of the dangerous symptoms the doctor warned her about did indeed occur. I still think that both she and the baby will survive. I do regret the scene from 2029, showing Aslan and, presumably, his son. Yes, I suppose that the scene may make us think that Devin has died and Aslan is a widower, buy whether or not that's the case, why introduce that scene now? Anyway, I'm still thinking that Devin, Aslan, and their son will be alive and well in the final episode.
¡Ojala!
Thanks for the recap, novelera.
I’m happy they gave Cihan his due. But they realized his value too late. Hulya was a lousy mother to him.
I think everyone else will have a happy ending because Cihan became the sacrifice to the dizi gods.
“I’m kind of tired of being jerked around.” ITA. I’m glad the Turks stuck with the initial plan for 30 episodes. It’s just enough.
I get to recap some baby drama tonight. Recap will be up on Saturday.
KAT...thanks a bunch...

HC, look you did my recap for me! Thanks. I had my grandson stay the night and he had a half day yesterday so I didn't have my normal put 2 y.o. down for her nap and watch Venganza time in the afternoon.
Good point about Claudia suggesting the Ferrerro house as an alternative. Of course that fit right in with Gabriel and Alfredo's agenda
I had to laugh when Alfredo cheered Ana on. A chip off the Old block he thinks. And poor Ana so starved for love being happy that he was finally proud of her
Yes, Moni has her head on straight. As does Sebastian. Elisa is going to have a hard time lying to the police. It is fitting that they are doing to Fernanda precisely what she did to Ana when Fern killed Maria Laura. I wonder if the secret that Maria Laura has which made her pray all the time will ever come out (I still think her eldest child, be it Elisa or , gak, Gabriel, was fathered by Adelberto.) I want it to be Ana so she can have Brenda as a sister.
So who is the baby daddy of Fernanda's petite paquet? Chances are it is Francisco, but she also had some trysts with Roberto. Wonder how far along she is.
The drug used sounds similar to what Claudia was given in it's addictive properties.
They really did some awful editing of these last couple of episodes. Scenes are way out of sequence from the original.
Slight rewind. The doctor explains the risks with the pregnancy and Devin coughs up blood while she’s out shopping for the baby. She has a total emotional breakdown in the bathroom. [I don’t understand why she’s out shopping. Shouldn’t she be on bed rest at this stage?]
We go back a few hours earlier. [No going back in the original ep. This part really happens before the ladies go shopping.]
Aslan video calls Devin from Urla. The amigos are with him. He’s found a restaurant it will become “The Family Restaurant”. He gives her a quick tour on the phone. She says it’s beautiful. He says he loved it as soon as he walked in and he’s about to sign the contract. There’s a tangerine tree outside. Aslan tells her, in 5 years the tree will be bigger and so will our son.
Devin’s expression changes as Aslan continues talking about how wonderful everything will be. I think she’s not feeling well, and future talk is making her anxious.
Turgut gets a text pic from Asuman. Baby booties. [She sends this during the shopping trip.] The amigos say hello to Devin.
I guess we skipped ahead because we are back to the shopping trip. It’s clear Devin is struggling. Nese is helping her down the stairs. The ladies are talking about baby names. [Why doesn’t anyone notice that Devin is in distress?]
Back to Urla. Aslan tells the amigos the customer is always right and from now on, their only concerns are the law and taxes.
In the background, a man starts to argue with lawyer Cagri about being kicked out. They approach Aslan. The man is the current tenant of the restaurant. He won’t leave. He declares—I dare you to kick me out! The amigos are on alert. Aslan gets that familiar smile. We’re businessmen. We smile. [yes, but not like regular businessmen.]
Devin is in bad shape as she walks away from the group. Finally, Yagmur comes over and asks Devin if she’s okay. Devin lies. Yagmur asks if the baby is kicking. Devin says yes and asks Yagmur to get the group moving along while she sits down.
The argument continues in Urla. Aslan goes into his obnoxious routine. The man is adamant about staying. Aslan notes the man isn’t up to date on the rent and the owner will take him to court. The man says let him sue. It gets tense.
The man accuses Aslan and co of being mafia. Aslan restarts his typical routine. The man says let the owner kick me out. Aslan gives him advice, don’t provoke me. You don’t know who you’re dealing with. Think. Maybe I’m here to eat or drink something. Then order something, the man fires back. He walks away.
Aslan says the tenant is a brave fool. Turgut wants to kick the guy’s ass. Aslan says no. We are businessmen who smile. Cagri says, legally speaking, we are withing our rights. But if the owner files the complaint today, it will take a year or more to reach a resolution. Have the manager (tenant) agree to sign the eviction notice. Then he should leave within the allotted period.
Meanwhile, Devin can barely handle a sip of water.
Aslan starts his restaurant plans. We will have a sign outside—The Family Restaurant. He assigns Isko to the cash register. Eko will be the operations manager. And Turgut will be… the maître d!
Turgut wonders how they will get the tenant’s signature. Aslan says their mafia days are over. They can’t be visibly violent. This is a small town. Don’t show your face. Get everything you can on that man and get it to me. This is our restaurant! Turgut spots a children’s party going on in an adjacent room. There are fully costumed characters dancing with the children.
A waiter serves Aslan and Cagri. Aslan asks about the tangerine tree and says it needs water. Then he tells the waiter he can keep his job there. I guess Aslan will just be an investor. He tells Cagri to look after the place as if it were his own. Cagri worries about the tenant issue. Aslan isn’t very worried.
The amigos are wearing those character costumes! Eko thinks it would be better if they just wore masks because this is ridiculous. [ITA, Eko.] Turgut reminds him they are businessmen, not bank robbers. We are friendly guys. The tenant shows up with backup and our “characters” take action.
Aslan receives a text from Turgut. We got him to sign. Don’t worry, we did it with a smile.
Not sure where the other ladies went. Hulya is giving orders to Arif while Devin is dragging herself to the car. She finally collapses and is loaded into the car, and they head to the hospital. Devin is wheeled in and placed in a bed. She’s semi-conscious. Hulya stays by her side.
Devin wakes up. She asks, is the baby okay? Hulya assures her both she and the baby are fine. Devin asks if Aslan knows. Hulya says she called him but he didn’t answer. Devin doesn’t want Aslan to know. We already embarked on this path, she says, this baby will be born no matter what.
Time jump to 2029 in Urla.
Aslan’s son is picking the tangerines from the restaurant tree. Turgut is assisting and he’s wearing a Hawaiian shirt. The boy says, Dad, you said you had a surprise for me. Be patient, Aslan answers, we have to eat first. The boy notes they always get free food here. Turgut laughs. Aslan asks Turgut, what’s so funny, Mr. Hawaiian? Turgut regains his composer and answers, sorry, Dayı (Uncle. The mafia term.)
Nothing gets past the little one. He asks Turgut, is my father your uncle? No, Turgut replies. The boy says then why do you call him uncle? Aslan interjects—go ahead and answer, Turgut Efendi. Turgut tells the boy, it’s nothing, never mind. Aslan tells Turgut to take the tangerines inside so they can be ready for tonight. We see the sign outside “Bir Aile Restoranı” A Family Restaurant.
Inside the restaurant, Eko is chatting with customers. We see the waiter Aslan kept. Isko is at the register, and he greets the boy. Aslan sits his son on the counter and asks, what should we eat? The menu board lists dishes named after family members.
Aslan’s tomato paste tost
Hulya’s vardabit
Cihan’s kebab
Nedret’s şirdan -stuffed sheep stomach
Seher’s bici bici – shaved ice dessert
Zeynep’s akşam menemen – evening menemen
Devin’s ketçaplı pilavı - rice pilav with ketchup
The boy opts for the rice with ketchup. Like mother, like son, Aslan comments, she added ketchup to everything. Aslan asks the boy about the red mark on his forehead. He finally admits that someone headbutted him—Merve, a girl. The boy notes that his mom did it to his dad, too.
Surprised Aslan asks, who told you that? Everyone talks about it, the boy replies. Ha, Turgut brings Aslan tea. I think Aslan realizes Turgut must be the gossip. He tells Turgut to burn that Hawaiian shirt. The boy asks, does this mean I have to marry Merve? The boy (name yet to be revealed) asks why this is “The Family Restaurant”? Aslan answers, because your mother wanted it that way.
The boy says he learned the meaning of family at school. People who share the same blood. That’s true, Aslan says, but that’s the dictionary definition. Family is much more than that. A family is made up everyone who loves each other. Look at Iskoc Bey. Turgut and Eko. We don’t have the same blood, but we are family.
What about mom, the boy asks. Aslan says, mom and I have a different relationship. From the moment she and I met, we felt a deep bond towards each other. It brought us together forever. Because we loved each other, we decided to start our own family. Then you showed up. The boy asks, I have your blood, but blood doesn’t matter? Aslan explains, what I mean is that your chosen family, son, is more precious than the family you came from. The boy understands and says, I’ll tell Grandma about this. [I’m afraid it’s many years too late.]
Aslan and son leave to get ready for the surprise. The boy stops in front of a mirror that says, “the most beautiful family in the world”.
We are back in 2025.
Devin looks awful. She sees the mirror with the half-written message—"dünyanın en...” Aslan’s marker went dry before he could finish it. Devin remembers Aslan had a mirror in his bachelor pad that said, “the most dangerous animal in the world”. Is that the message? Not at all, Aslan replies, it’s “the most beautiful family in the world”. You, me and our son will look at this mirror in our restaurant in Urla.
Devin gets teary. She says, this is incomplete. He asks, why are you acting like this? Please talk to me. If there’s a problem, if something troubles you, tell me so I can help. We started off believing, we continue to believe, we will continue to believe. You felt everything would work out, nothing would happen to you or the baby. Have faith.
Turgut flirts with Asuman in the kitchen. I think she’s pushing to make their relationship legal. He says he doesn't like paperwork. He starts to get frisky with her. She pushes him away. It’s a scandal. He continues. She scolds—stop! Allah aşkına! My problem is between two lips, yours is between two legs! He does not relent. He says marriage kills the libido. He is just keeping the passion alive.
Asuman picks up a knife— are you just having fun with me? You should worry about staying alive! Talk to your mother and tell her you want to get married. Turgut says what’s the point. Nedret is still in Adana. We don’t know when she will return. There won’t be an engagement or a henna party or a wedding. Asuman says to stop with the excuses. She’s a decent woman.
Devin tells Aslan she’s very tired. She can’t sleep on her stomach anymore. Then she tells him she’s going to her place to get a few things. He’s worried about her and wants to send someone else. She says she’s taking a driver and won’t do anything strenuous. Yagmur will come to help. He lets her go.
Hulya catches Asuman and Turgut. She chases him from the kitchen. Asuman says she had wanted to talk to Hulya before this happened. Hulya is angry. Even the blind can see what’s going on! Worry about your dignity! [it’s okay to put a bullet in someone’s head but God forbid two consenting single adults have a sexual relationship outside of marriage.]
Asu asks her not to tell Nedret. Hulya states that Asuman can’t do anything without Nedret’s approval. Asu worries, what if she doesn’t approve? Hulya replies, then you will have to bury your love in your heart. Asu is very worried.
Devin arrives at her apartment. [I wonder, has she been seeing a doctor?] She applies makeup, prepares a laptop and a camera, puts a smile on her face and starts recording.
It’s evening and Aslan is driving. He calls Yagmur. She’s not with Devin. She hasn’t heard from her today. She asks, is something wrong? Aslan doesn’t make a big deal. He’s on his way to the apartment anyway.
Aslan enters the apartment. Devin is on the bed. There’s a book she was reading. “Works of Love” by Kierkegaard. Aslan is scared. He checks to see if Devin is breathing. Thank goodness, she is. He puts the book on the nightstand. He notices the laptop and camera setup and starts the video. Looks like Devin did a few of them.
They are messages to her son. My beloved son, apple of my eye! How are you? I’m your mother. By the time you watch this video, you will be 5 years old. Right now, you are exactly 30 weeks old. You’re always kicking me… or maybe your headbutting me. I don’t know what’s going on, but you’re very strong, my son. I have to tell you, your dad wanted to name you “Güçlü” (strong). I can hear you thanking me for stopping him. This is my first recording for you. There will be many, many, many more. You’ll be able to hear my voice whenever you want. Whenever you put your hand on your heart, I will be with you. I may not be there in person, but do you know who will be there for you? The love of my life, my superhero. You’ll have your dad.
Video Devin continues to tell the story of how mom and dad met. Real Devin wakes up and gets up. I’ll borrow the blah, blah, blah here. Mom and Dad survived and became stronger thanks to their love. Aslan’s tears fall. Video Devin starts crying but continues, you (and dad) have your whole lives ahead of you to enjoy each other. I love you very much. Recording stops.
Real Devin is emotional. She tells Aslan she wanted to record a message for both. She didn’t want to cry but she couldn’t help it. Aslan holds her and they cry a bit more. He says, we won’t watch that again. We can’t think this way. She wants to talk. He says, I thought you were hopeful. Look at me… why are you like this?
Devin replies, I’m still hopeful. I know our son will be born healthy. But I’m not well. I can feel it. I may not survive, Aslan. He kisses her forehead.
And we are out!
My last recap. Thanks for reading, arkadaşlarım. On to Monday's gran final!
Thanks for the detailed recaps and comparisons to the originals. Last night was very confusing. And why, exactly, does Asuman need Nedret’s permission to marry?? And where did Leyla go???
K
¡Muchísimas gracias, dondi, for this and all your other amazing recaps. I don't think I could have made it through this dizi without them.
Aslan's use of the past tense when talking about Devin in the 2029 passages makes me fear that indeed, Devin died, perhaps in childbirth. Of course, the writers may still be playing with us, but it doesn't feel like play.
One thing that really surprised me was Devin, already beginning to feel unwell and unsteady, choosing to wear very high-heeled shoes. They looked to be at least 4 inches high. Words fail me.
Also, like K, I wonder why Asuman needs Nedret's permission to get married? Or anything else, for that matter? I thought Asuman was Nedret's employee, not her slave.
I don't have much else to say about this episode. I found it needlessly confusing and am most grateful to you for trying to straighten things out.
Well, I commented , but my comment has disappeared , so I will just thank Dondi for another excellent recap .
Yes, why was Devin wandering around around and looking like death warmed over while nobody seemed to notice ? High risk pregnancies usually require bed rest . I still think that the writers are tricking us , and Devin will pop up in the finale fine and healthy. Susan
Well this episode made me cry during the video recording. I noticed in the 2 Aslan played she was wearing a yellow v necked dress, but a black or blue sheath dress in real time. So I assume she has been recording those for a few days.
I laughed when the 3 musketeers wore the costumes. Aslan told them they had to always smile so they rented or borrowed those silly bear and whatever the others were costumes. Then Turgut. Couldn't open his phone with the mittens the costume came with so he used his nose. Been there, done that when out walking in cold weather and someone calls me while I'm wearing my gloves.
It really does feel like Devin won't make it, but maybe they are just teasing us. Thanks for a great recap Dondi.
A million thanks to you, dondi, for the terrific recaps all the way through. You have gone above and beyond watching both Turkish and chopped up Telemundo versions to give us the things the boneheads at Telemundo thought we didn't need to see (more time for commercials, perhaps).
Well, except for the Three Amigos, this episode, for me, was maudlin and melodramatic. I need to go to Vix and watch an old fashioned, predictable romantic telenovela for a palate cleanser. And where is Ayda Aksel? She better be in the gran final. She's improved every scene she's been in.
Yes, indeed, it was ridiculous that Devin, who so desperately wanted this child to live, is walking around shopping in high heels.
I got a kick out of "obnoxious routine". I don't know if the writers wanted these or the actor adlibbed and/or insisted on them. But Aslan gets started on one of his lectures, I am tempted to fast forward. Except I don't want to miss something pertinent. I also predict the unnamed child will become completely rebellious years later, fed up to his back teeth with papí's long discourses.
It still seems weird Hulya calling Devin hija. We all surely remember the first time she saw Devin, when her face fell seeing Aslan had brought a woman to dinner.
Iskoc is at the cash register? Have the writers forgotten that he was the smart one of the Three Amigos, figuring out every angle. Instead Eko is the business manager?
I guess they're going with Devin having kept quiet about her discomfort because of fear that Aslan would insist on an early delivery, resulting in a premature birth and possible complications. Still frustrated they had to insist on this tearjerker plot development.
I did like the Amigos accosting the intransigent former restaurant owner in those costumes. Heaven knows we needed at least one light moment.
ITA with dondi and others about it being ludicrous that Hulya is slut shaming Asuman for having sex with Turgut. And her needing Nedret's approval for a relationship at all.
Thanks, everyone.
The splicing and dicing throughout has been unfortunate. It’s been especially horrible the past few episodes. I wish they would have played scenes straight through and in order like the original. It would have been less confusing. In the original, we didn’t know right away who was killed after the wedding. The ep opened with a body bag being taken away and Hulya sitting in shock. You’d think it was Aslan. Then the story went back to a day or two before the wedding.
We don’t know anything about Asuman’s story. I have a thought that she was entrusted to Nedret, so Nedret is responsible for her. Nedret is more than an employer for Asuman, she’s a mother figure.
I can’t believe they let Devin wander around without noticing she was in trouble. And yes, why was she wearing heels?
I think they are throwing us a curveball with the time jump to 2029. Aslan’s “surprise” might mean Devin survived.
We’ve all been wondering about Leyla. She wasn’t around for Yagmur and Bedri and very surprising she didn’t show up for Cihan’s funeral. IIRC, she didn’t want to leave with Cemre. Did she change her mind? If there was a quick mention of it in the original, I missed it. Did she finally get treated for her AVM? Remember that?
Thank goodness for these wonderful recaps. This one of the most confusing telenovelas ever! I’m 50/50 on Devin being alive but the way it’s being presented is ridiculous in my humble opinion.
I’m hoping La Jefa won’t be as violent as that trailer looks!!!
In regards to Asuman needing permission to marry the reluctant Turgut, I wonder if there is some religious or cultural custom which requires someone having to ask for a person's hand in marriage. Turgot seems to need his mother's permission. In the absence of a parent to ask, then Nedret becomes the next best thing. Asuman had called her mother in some of the early episodes.
I think Leyla, the actress, must have found another gig. I thought her children made an appearance at Cihan's funeral. Was she and the children absent from the new family photo? Or are the female line not part of the family? Nedret and Bedri made the cut though so that theory doesn't hold water.
Steve, I guess your reply answered my question of are you even watching the show. Watch the show, I'm not recapping in full anymore. I'm getting burned out. Yes, the Dr. said her treatment after the drugging will be complicated due to her condition. She is pregnant he said. I think Francisco, Elisa and Mirna were in the room when that bombshell was dropped.
It’s not strictly about “permission” to marry, it’s about approval or acceptance. Family is very important. If adults really want to marry, they can find a way to do it, but it might be at the expense of losing family connections. Remember Eko broke up with Yagmur because his family did not approve of her. Hulya did not approve of AsDev but they married anyway. It can be challenging to relate to a culture different from our own.
Yes, Kat, there were several videos on Devin’s laptop. The new family photo was from Yagmur and Bedri’s engagement night. Leyla wasn’t there. Her children were not at Cihan’s funeral. Those visitors were kids and their families helped by Cihan.
I couldn’t find anything on Canan Ergüder’s (Leyla) disappearance from the dizi. Maybe we will find out about Leyla in the gran final. I know the actor had serious health problems not that long ago. I don’t see that she’s had another project.
I found an article that said Ayda Aksel had broken her leg. That might be why she went missing.
Many thanks, dondi, for another fabulous recap. Your insight and knowledge about dizis has given us an extra dimension of enjoyment.
It was ridiculous for Devin to be wearing those heels and trying to power through getting sick at the store. Is she trying to be a martyr?
I love the gang of three, and the scene with them in costumes was hilarious! The Turkish Three Stooges.
I think Devin is alive at the end. It would be too, too much if she didn't live to see their dream of the restaurant and out of mafia life.
The son, hmm..already getting into fights..
and Aslan seeming a little proud of it. The next generation??

I noticed in a promo that the actress who played Violet in " El Conde" is in it . I also noticed some other familiar faces. This looks very violent .

KAT SC... [CAT-WOMAN] I will forever grateful for the recaps, you were able to do..Appreciate ..it....
From here...just put in your 2/two cents like everybody else....... and its...'DONE-DONE'.....!!
HC. Once the time slot moved to midnight it really made it difficult. Having only 4 nights helped a bit. I've been trying to keep up with 4 different TN's also so that is adding to the challenge. My Spanish comprehension is improving a lot though.
Gracias, Dondi. Terrific recap. Your commentary is priceless, putting everything in perspective. Thanks for translating the board menu list -- loved it.
Thank goodness for The Three Amigos donning kid mascot costumes for the fist fight. Turgut in a Hawaiian shirt was cute too.
Otherwise, nothing to cheer.
Devin is too smart, too exhausted, and too sad right now to prance around in those high heels. Shame on the costume folks for getting overtaken by the shoe sponsor folks.
I have a theory that AsDev's son's name begins with the letter "D" of the bracelet. ITA Aslan is in for an awakening when his son (maybe by age 10?) starts challenging his speechifying.
I'm thinking Iskoc is the business manager and more than the cashier.
I'm betting Asuman will get what she wants. I don't see Nedret saying "no" to marriage to Turgut. But maybe Turgut's mom insists on living with them!
Fingers crossed that Devin is alive and kicking in 2029. If not, I'm done with this dizi writer.
Kat, sounds like you're improving your Spanish the same way I did. I began watching telenovelas back when I had a VCR! My first novela was El Privilegio de Amar recommended by a co-worker from Mexico. I had tried to watch them before, but it was impossible to understand things when starting to watch in the middle. Why does that woman hate the other one? Graciela told me when the one I mentioned began. I began recording each episode so that I could back up the tape and listen again to try to grasp things. A bit later I took my first of many Spanish classes at the local adult education school at the high school. Listening to colloquial Spanish that was also spoken by trained actors with good diction was very helpful. Of course, along the way I also got hooked on the plots!
