Hi Kat. I spent hours trying to figure out what was suddenly causing my
computer not to work right. I think I've figured it out, or at least enough
to post a message about your excellent recap.

Like novelera, I was annoyed that Ana asked Sara whether she and Alberto
were lovers, and even more annoyed at Sara for not saying no, we simply had
a one-night stand (or something to that effect).

Perhaps I'm just in a bad mood, but I was also disappointed in Emilio's
responses to Alberto's admission that he had slept one time with Sara while
Ana was interested in Carlos. A mistake, yes, but unpardonable?? Followed
by Emilio's "If anything happens to her, you're the only one to blame."

Oy, Carlos suggests to Cris that they team up to keep Ana and Alberto apart.
He asks her, "what are you willing to do to get Alberto back?" It's not
clear whether Cris would really do anything and everything to get Alberto
back, but it's absolutely clear that there's nothing Carlos wouldn't do to
get Ana (and get back at Alberto). I guess this will be the main activity
in últimas semanas.

I was astonished that after receiving a rather nasty beating from
(presumably) Enrique's goons, Victor was able to get up and outrun the guys
who beat him up.

And again, many thanks for identifying the thumb drive!

velvet

I can’t really be upset that Victor got beat. His friendship with Clara is nice but he’s still a blackmailer. He deserved the beat down but maybe Enrique shouldn’t have gone with the lowest bidder goons. Smart blackmailer, though, hiding the flash drive that inevitably won’t be found until the final week.

Part 1 of 2

I keep meaning to say and forgetting to do so that I really like the section of music and images where the cast credits are presented. The videos of a closeup of a sewing machine sewing fabric and hands basting fabric are very well done.

Things keep going from bad to worse for the cast.

Rick, his face full of dismay, listens to his father describe a boyfriend he’s chosen for Rick’s gay sister.

Enrique tells Clara, who’s been Victor’s rescuer, that Victor stole jewelry from Velvet.

Mateo puts two and two together. He remembers the gold watch Cristina gave him and having also seen Victor wearing a similar one.

Cris meets with Carlos about Victor’s blackmail scheme. He offers help.

Rick and Angie’s parents arrive at Velve with the potential boyfriend for Angie in tow.

Enrique blames the Victor mess on Barbie. He tells her that Papa Gerardo had asked her to watch the loca, and look what’s happened.

Mateo comes to iron out the Victor problem. Clara’s awful mother, Chonita, says he’s gone. And he’s taken the cash Mateo gave her. Turns out she only sent half to her husband and plans to stay in New York until Mateo and Clara’s wedding.

Sigh. Valeria has once again done the deed with Enrique. But she says it won’t happen again (!)

Alberto, Raul, and Ana are happy about the upcoming big presentation of the new collection. Raul also says that Ana will be revealed as Carmen Garza.

The jewelry designs are shown to Valentin Rubalcaba and his mother. Neither Cris nor Barbie, the supposed heads of the Velvet jewelry line, attend.

Chonita finds the flash drive Victor tucked into the sofa in Clara and Margara’s apartment. She doesn’t seem to know what it is.

Gloria meets with her evil henchie concerning the house in the Florida Keys.

Cris arrives after the big meeting with the Rubalcabas. She has a fit when Valeria tells her the jewelry collection will be shown along with Ana and Raul’s clothes. Valeria more or less tells her to stuff it.

velvet

Part 2 of 2

Carlos calls Cris to tell her he paid the money he wanted to Victor and also got the incriminating stuff off his devices. Victor is shown stone cold dead in the trunk. [Open trunk, corpse, New York City! When I was there on a visit the streets were full of people.]

Sofia tells Mateo that the jewelry designs were approved by the Rubalcabas.

Cris and Gloria! When these two are together, bad things always happen. Gloria has a plan to ruin Ana’s career forever.

Gloria’s plan is for Cris to go on television for an interview wearing a nun-like dress. She’s going to talk about how the evil seamstress plotted to ruin her happy home. Of course, as is always the case in TNs, the whole cast is shortly shown tuning in.

Angie’s girlfriend is presented to Rick and Angie’s parents as Rick’s girlfriend.

Ana, Emilio, Raul, and Blanca watch the Poor, Pitiful Cris Show. Raul is totally Team Ana.

In order to recoup the money Victor stole from her mother, Margara accepts the job with Pilar. Of course, Chonita’s idea was to hit up Mateo again, but Clara put her foot down.

In a meeting room Cris says that the social media hatred of Ana means they should not present her designs. She’s outvoted by Enrique, Valeria, and Alberto.

Mateo has some security camera Images of Victor and Cris working late at Velvet. But nothing compromising is shown.

On that same terrace, Alberto tells Ana the whole interview was planned by Gloria. Ana breaks up with him for the 10th time.

Cris throws the seamstresses out and proceeds to rip up the dresses for the show. Too bad there isn’t a security camera there to show her frenzy. Alberto could have her put into a looney bin.

Bahar

Bahar is supposed to avoid stress. Instead all these horrific family things are happening. And then there’s Timur who wants to donate his liver and then pickles it completely. He really seemed tragic in this episode, falling down drunk. He very obviously knows he’s screwed up completely and it was sad to see him so defeated, though of course he earned it. It’s very nice to have the bad guy not be evil for a change.

I wanted to hear him sing! We had silence (did they eliminate his voice?) and then the theme song came on. I would like to have heard the Turkish theme song, whatever it is, but instead we got the Spanish one. It’s a good song, but still. Finally at the end we heard him sing a little bit. Through all this, the actor is doing a terrific job.

I didn’t know you could get musicians in Turkey to come to your house like mariachis do.

Poor love-struck Doruk!

I thought Ayhan was picking up something from Evren’s boat for a DNA sample (for what?) and then it turned out to be the bottle of messages. Now Timur knows! It was a bad day for everybody

Juanita, I just wrote a comment about Velvet but it didn't post ....

Bahar

Let's see if blogger likes me commenting on this show as it ate my Velvet comment.

Maggie, I agree, a "bad" guy who isn't evil is refreshing. He really is torn between 2 lovers, and feels like a fool....

I thought Rengin owned the house she lives in and figured doctors must do well financially in Turkey as well as in the US. But she wants to invest her inheritance in a house (wasn't her dad's house included in her inheritance,?.)

Looks like Nevra is really in deep trouble, but more so the bank official that no longer works there, for forging Timur's signature to secure the mortgage loan.

Dora is officially a bad player in my book. I wondered initially if it was a set up of Timur. Now it seems she just wants to hurt any Bahar/Evren pairing. Whoever theorized that Ali and Timur are half brothers, I'm now wondering the same, especially as they both have compatible livers to help Bahar.

Dr Reha better start interviewing replacements. Hell soon be down 3 doctors and an intern.

I think Bahar needs to recover physically and rejoin the next class of interns next year. Dr. Reha has a point, she will fall behind. Of course her hospital stories will be limited then. Umay needs some therapy and support at this upsetting time in her life. That was a lot of rage she inflicted on Timur's car.I'm a bit tired of love struck Doruk personally.

Why aren't Timur and Rengin out looking for a new hospital to work at, especially Timur with his financial woes? Rengin just got rich so she can afford a leave of absence, Parla also needs support. I like that she and Rengin now have a good mother daughter relationship. It's always a challenge with teenagers.

OT my husband and I collected 70 bales of hay from the fields that we buy our hay from. It was only in the 80's. Such a difference from the near 100 degrees days we've been doing for the previous 8 years. The moderate temps have been a welcome reprieve from the really hot dry summer we had. Fall is just around the corner!

bahar

I’m a day behind on Velvet and Karsu, but I managed to catch Bahar last night. We are in Turkish ep #16, the last of the first season. That was the last episode I watched in Turkish. I guess I’ll start watching it in Spanish, but I’ll probably be behind the rest of you.

Timur’s serenade: Terk Edildim/I Was Abandoned
YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93AQP_ZPUsQ
Translation: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/terkedildim-ive-been-abandoned.html

Maggie—Turkish mariachis… lol You sometimes see them in a dizi when a groom comes to collect his bride. Depends on how traditional the people are.

Kat, I looked everywhere, and I simply could not find your message. I did see the one I'm responding to, and I saw the one you wrote about Bahar ("Let's see if blogger likes me commenting on this show as it ate my Velvet comment," etc.). but I couldn't find the message you wrote about Velvet. I have no idea what happened to it.

Velvet
Maybe I forgot to hit post. Usually I can back track and find things, but not this time.

Guess I'll write a new one. I've already forgotten what I wrote though.

I laughed at Novelera's remark about Val and Enrique, and Ana breaking up with Al for the tenth time, and agreed having a dead guy in your trunk in NYC in broad daylight is just asking for your crime to be discovered. Where are some good street cams when you need one.

Bemoaned the stupid Texan invasion and that entire storyline.

Mused that perhaps Chonita lied about Victor robbing her and she actually hasn't lost her wallet and money.

Mateo is a good detective. He and Raul are my favorite characters.

Oh and no.maternity leave for Barbie that already has her pre pregnancy figure back in a week (or less, not sure how fast time is passing). Lulu already is being raised by nannies. Not sure why Enrique is so bent on remaining married to her, unless she is rich or he doesn't have a good prenup. Or he just likes having his bit, Val, on the side.

velvet

Novelera, thanks very much for another short recap that does a superb job of
capturing everything important! I'd just like to fill in some detailsof a
couple of scenes that I found especially interesting.

One was Carlos offering to team up with Cristina. He points out that he's
the right-hand man at Sahgun for dealing with blackmail, bribery, and other
similar problems. He's an expert at "negotiation" (which I think for him is
synonymous with murder). I loved the way he gave Cristina a detailed
account of how he "negotiated," assuring her that Victor won't bother
her again. And then the camera moves to a shot of Victor lying
dead in the trunk of a car. I'm not sure, but I think Carlos has cut off one
of Victor's fingers, perhaps to use to access resources requiring
fingerprint entry.

I've always been uncertain what to think about Valeria. I thus found the
scene between her and Enrique particularly interesting. She tells him she's
pledged/engaged to Valentin (Val2). Enrique makes some snide remarks about
Val2. Valeria makes it clear that what's most important to her is about
finances, the future. She asks Enrique whether he would leave Barbara for
her. He's silent. She points out that Valentin adores her. She then says "A
night of passion versus a life of luxury." To me, at least, she has made it
clear that she chooses the life of luxury.

Another scene that interested me was Marga's discussion with Pilar when
Marga decides to take Pilar's offer. Pilar suggests that Marga's change of
heart was provoked by the infamous interview that Cristina gave. Marga
agrees that Ana and she are friends, but she goes on to say that "what
people are saying about Ana isn't true. Ana is a good person." Pilar
replies, "You might turn out to be more valuable than I thought."
I'm not at all sure how to take this.

Velvet
Thanks to all the recappers. I am still watching Velvet and enjoying it , but I don't have time to comment as I am still picking up the pieces of my crazy spring and summer. Hopefully I can get back to caraycaray . Susan

Bahar

Talk about cliffhangers! This episode was full of them. I’d like that Dora turned out to be good. At least I think so. She also left!

Instead of waiting months, we get to find out what happened next week. My kind of cliffhanger! Too many family members involved in this surgery. Very unrealistic! Hoping everyone survives!

Babachita

Bahar

Babachita, I agree, too many cliffhangers, and in Umay and Parla's case, literally! Their make friend is way too reckless. I'm glad the sisters made up, Parla Stated her case eloquently, Umay just kind said I forgive you with no heartfelt soliloquy like Parla's.

Will Uras girlfriend keep the baby? Crummy timing with Uras thinking his parents would have been happy if he'd never been born and crying on Seder's (I've forgotten her name so this is a guess) shoulder.

Of course Nevra gets money from Rengin to satisfy the bank. Meanwhile what was the bank thinking loaning her more than the value of the house? I hope Bahar's lawyer finds the forger from the bank and they have to eat the loss.

So does Umay not want her parents to divorce? I thought she hated dad now. I did not understand why she tore up the divorce papers Timur brought Bahar.

I'll be looking forward to Monday's episode.

Bahar

There were so many sweet scenes in this episode. Dora telling Evren she saw true love in the photo of Bahar and him, and turning out to be a good egg after all. Off she goes to Italy! Timur’s beautiful apology to Bahar and their embrace. The two girls making up and hugging. Aw!

But I should have known! I didn’t even think of what we all know: When those big pronouncements of love, those big reconciliations, happen in telenovelas we can be sure someone is going to die. Who will it be? Someone in the car (why did he stop partway in the roadway?), Timur? Or will they surprise us and everyone will live?

Is this a season-end show? It sure feels like it and they announced that changes are coming. Fortunately we don’t have to wait.

Nevra made her deal with Rengin, who was surprisingly accepting. Now we have to see if Timur is even around to marry! I hope so – the actor is terrific and I like the character.

Bahar
Dondi - thank you for the song! I just found out the sound bar on my new computer isn't working, so I just saw the video, but didn't get any sound. I'll have to have somebody troubleshoot it (no, it wasn't muted). Drat.

velvet #74 part 1

Rewind of Cris destroying the Purple Jacaranda.

What the heck is Elena wearing to a daytime business meeting? Anyway… she’s extremely upset that business is not taken seriously at Velvet. [I guess that’s a fallout from Cris’ interview.] The Vals try to mitigate the situation. Elena tells her Val—let’s go. Valentin makes a stand. Mom, I can’t leave Valeria alone.

Elena is stunned, you put this woman before your own family? Before me? Your girlfriend is not at the same level as your mother. Valeria is not my girlfriend, Valentin replies, she’s my fiancée. He takes Valeria’s hand. Elena can’t believe it and Valeria confirms it. Valentin won’t leave and the Vals seal that with a quick kiss on the lips.

Albert, Ana, Raul, and Blanca enter the atelier and see what Cris did. A disaster! Who did this? The seamstresses return. Gasp, who would do something like this? Pepita runs in and sounds the alarm—Doña Blanca, you need to come to the warehouse. Sra. Cris is doing something to the collection!

Enrique confronts Cris. You’ve gone to far! How could you do something so stupid? I told you the collection wasn’t going to work out, she smugly replies, but you chose to listen to that woman over me. Enrique answers, you had to leave the company without dresses? We invested a fortune! Cris sees no problem and says, I paid for those dresses. You should be supporting me instead of going against me. She’s ready to destroy what’s left of the dresses. He stops Cris from leaving. Listen carefully, he tells her. Stop this nonsense or I swear I’ll have you committed to a mental hospital just like Dad did.

Gloria enters and defends Cris. Enrique asks her to leave, it’s none of her business. Cris informs, he wants to have me committed because he says I’m crazy. Glo asks, how could you? Enrique tells Glo what Cris did to the collection. Cristina is crazy! Glo thinks Cris has been hurt and has every right to defend herself. Enrique accuses Glo of encouraging Cris’ lunacy. Glo won’t let Enrique commit Cris and says that Cris is perfectly sane.

Enrique asks Glo, what do you get from all of this? I don’t believe for a second you’re doing this out of love for Cris. Think what you want, Glo replies, but I’ll defend her from you and whoever else wants to hurt her. She takes smirking Cris out of the room.

Strategy meeting. Mateo thinks the show should be canceled right away. Albert says no, the show can be saved. We can bring dresses from Mexico on a private jet.

Glo has brought Cris to the high-class Velvet hangout lounge. She advises, you can’t keep having these outbursts. You’re giving your brother an excuse to have you committed. I have a lot of suppressed anger, Cris replies. That’s normal, Glo answers, but you need to channel it. Keep a cool head. Glo gets a message summoning her to Albert’s office.

Cris wants to introduce Glo to Carlos first. Glo asks why. Cris says Carlos is in love with Ana and they made a deal to help each other. He doesn’t want Ana with Albert. Please don’t badmouth Ana in front of him. Introductions are made. Cris tells Carlos that Glo knows about their arrangement. Glo is interested and asks for details. Carlos is ready to propose the next steps of the plan. We don’t get to hear it.

Clara and Marga are in the break room. Clara is checking Victor’s social media. No posts for days. Messages are left on “read”. Calls go to voicemail. Marga thinks it’s because Victor stole from Velvet. Clara thinks it’s strange. Vic showed up beaten and scared. He was running from something.

velvet #74 part 2

Glo comes to the office where Albert and Leo are waiting for her. Leo tells her that Ben’s will has been impugned. Albert adds, that means you have zero stock in Velvet. Your funds provided by the company have been blocked. From now on, you have no say in company decisions. You messed with me, Albert states, and the time has come to return the favor.

Blanca and Raul come to Ana with news that the collection has been saved. The factory in Mexico can send almost the entire line of dresses. They will come on private jet. We can have the show tonight!

Glo vows to get revenge, blah, blah, blah. And she won’t spare Leo the Lawyer either. Glo claims this is an injustice. Albert calls her out on her shamelessness. You have the nerve to talk about justice after what you did to my mother, and what you are doing to Cris? You are manipulating her and making her believe you’re on her side.

Glo replies, I’m only getting back what I deserve and what’s mine. I should have forced your father to let me be part of the company, instead of staying home and taking care of you, wasting my time. I worked hard for you to become this—a loser who can’t run his company properly. You should think a little more about your mother now. Know why? Because terminal patients wake up one day thinking all will get better, but it’s the opposite. The improvement is only a harbinger of death’s imminent arrival. That’s what awaits you—death. Glo takes the folder and leaves.

I can’t remember Rick’s mom’s name. She comes to Velvet. He tells her he’s covering a few hours for Angi. She tells him she doesn’t want to be part of his lie. She calls Sofi over and tells her that Rick is cheating on her. Rick makes facial expressions to let Sofi know she should play along. Sofi plays her part. She shouts and slaps Rick before storming off.

There’s a strategy meeting to counter the effects of the scandalous interview. Val wants to put out a press release. Enrique is against it. It revictimizes Cris. Sofi notes that this is a personal issue between Cris and Albert. It should be kept separate from the collection. Mateo agrees, especially since Ana wants to go public with the fact she’s Carmen Garza. Enrique repeats he’s against a press release or defending Ana. He’s on his sister’s side. He wants to continue with the show and not comment. He’s also against Ana revealing herself.

Albert comes to Ana. The PR group has met. They debated the pros and cons of a press release to respond to Cris’ interview. Albert explains, if I were to call a presser of my own supporting you, it would only confirm Cris’ version of events. Ana agrees and says it doesn’t matter. She’s leaving Velvet after the show. Albert is a bit ashamed to say this, but he doesn't think she should reveal she’s Carmen Garza. It’s not the right time.

Ana asks if he’s protecting her or Velvet. If I announce I’m Carmen Garza, it will affect the collection, no? No, Albert replies, well, it could affect the show and sales, but I’m saying it for your career. That’s more important. Ana says it’s her decision to make.

Carlos brings Maxine, an influential fashion critic, to meet with Cristina. Maxine is frank. I saw your interview and I thought it was a degrading spectacle. I don’t write about gossip, so I don’t know what you want from me. Cris chuckles. I’m not here to discuss my marital problems. I want to talk about Carmen Garza. Maxine knows that Carmen is working with Raul on Velvet’s new collection. She thinks Carmen has a lot of potential.

velvet #74 part 3

Cris tells Maxine that Ana is Carmen. Albert is the degrading spectacle. He created that pseudonym for her. He made her famous by putting her name on clothing she didn’t design. Carmen is a fraud. Her collection was made by ghost designers. Carlos looks on from the bar. I guess this was the next step in the plan.

The dresses have arrived, and the staff kicks into high gear to get ready for the show. Carlos is with Ana. He tells her what Cris did is unforgivable. I can help you talk to reporter friends of mine to give your version. Ana says it doesn't matter anymore. It’s in the past. She just wants to focus on the show. I imagined my last night at Velvet would be different, she says, presenting this wonderful collection and telling the world I’m Carmen Garza. Maybe Albert’s right, it isn’t a good idea.

Carlos thinks Ana should go ahead with her plans. She worries, what if people hate me? No one will hate you, he replies, they will love you. Let your talent speak for itself. Ana gets a text—the dresses have arrived from Mexico! She thanks Carlos.

Guests file in for the desfile. Mateo has a horrible but necessary question for Albert. Will Cris be at the show? Albert doesn’t know and he can’t stop her from coming. We see Gloria entering. What about Ana, Mateo asks, will she reveal herself as Carmen Garza? Albert doesn’t know that either.

Glo greets Albert and Mateo. She wants a ringside seat. We don’t want a scandal. I mean… another scandal, right? Enter Maxine. She approaches Mateo and Albert. She looks sour and says, let’s see what’s in store for us tonight. Here’s Cris and Barbie. They walk right past Albert and Mateo. The Rubalcabas are in the audience And there’s Carlos, next to Maxine.

Albert starts the show. Welcome. Velvet has the privilege of sharing a collection created by two geniuses of design—Raul de la Riva, who fused the classic with the modern for daytime, and Carmen Garza, a new NY designer who presents a contemporary and sophisticated vision of Mexican culture in her evening gowns. The show starts. We see the expected facial expressions of each in attendance. I don’t think I have to explain.

Looks like the show is a success. Lots of applause. Raul and Ana are excited. We did it! Ana proclaims it’s a dream come true. Raul says he will go out to thank everyone. He tells Ana to decide if she’s coming. I’ll always be by your side supporting you, he says. Let’s go, Ana replies, no more lies. They go out on the runway together. The applause suddenly stops.

Raul starts. I understand why you’re surprised. You’re probably wondering who Carmen Garza is. You figured she’s a Latina, but you probably wondered if she was younger or older, blond or brunette, but tonight the mystery is revealed. It is my honor and pleasure to introduce you to my colleague and partner in the wonderful collection, that you applauded for—Ana Velasquez, who is also Carmen Garza.

A shock to the audience, especially our characters. There’s silence and people start to walk out of the venue, including Maxine. Carlos smirks, his plan is working. And there are looks from Cris and Glo. Albert turns to Mateo, she shouldn’t have done it. It wasn’t the right time. Too late for regrets, Mateo replies, we’ll have to come up with a strategy for what’s coming next. Cris is pleased. Raul is supportive of Ana. She feels humiliated. He tells her she’s not the first or last to be judged unfairly. Look at me. Your designs are incredible. Ana heads backstage.

velvet #74 part 4

Albert wants to go to Ana, but Mateo stops him. It will only make things worse. Cris and Glo show up to rub it in. Ana’s getting what she deserves. We were all there to see it. Glo quips, if I’d known Ana’s fashion show would be so fun, I swear I would have been the first to support her. Barbie calls it a spectacle. [The English subs call it a debacle.] Enrique answers, it’s one that will drag Velvet’s image through the mud.

Cris shrugs it off. Fame is fame and we’ve got an incredible designer in Raul. Velvet will lose nothing. She snarks in Albert’s direction, besides, we also have a great leader who’d do anything to save his company, isn’t that right? It hurts, doesn’t it. It hurts to get hurt and see her hurt. This is just a taste of the harm you two have caused me. Albert shakes his head and walks away. Mateo goes too. The evil ones gloat.

Clara and Marga rush to Ana. Ana is devastated. I tried with all my heart, she says, my first collection and they rejected me. Clara says the people who left were stupid. Don’t cry.

Carlos comes in. Ana, can we talk? Clara and Marga walk away. Carlos is sorry [not] this happened. Ana tells him she doesn’t belong in this world. I don’t come from a powerful family. I don’t have influential friends. I’m just a simple seamstress with big dreams. All of NY just walked all over me. She cries in Carlos’ arms. He promises, your talent will take you to where you’re supposed to be. You can always count on me.

Ana thanks him but says she’d like to be alone with her friends right now. He’s okay with that. Marga proposes they go to a place where Ana can feel a little better. Ana laments, they destroyed me, walked over me. They destroyed my career in one blow.

Albert regrets. I wanted to make Ana a renowned designer and instead I ruined her career and reputation. Mateo tells him nothing that happened tonight was his fault. Cris is behind it. Albert adds, and Gloria, who won’t stop exerting her control and whispering in her ear.

Mateo says at least Albert has Glo’s stock. Yes, Albert says, but the close I get to getting Velvet back, the further I feel from Ana. Maybe Sara was right, I can’t have both. Mateo says he saw Carlos with Ana backstage. Albert notes that Carlos always knows when to show up. Mateo says that Carlos plays his cards well.

We are at the Queens bar. Angi and girlfriend are at the DJ table. The parents walk in. They show up earlier than Rick told them. [I don’t get why Rick told them to come in the first place.] The mom says let’s just find Rick and go. This place is awful. Dad gets a call and steps away to take it.
¡Que horror! Mom sees Angi and GF kiss on the lips. Rick spots mom and quickly heads over. Mom is in shock. Dad reappears. Rick helps his mom to a seat. He sends his dad to get water for her.

Ana’s true friends surround her. Raul leads them in a toast. I’d like to toast to the most beautiful collection I’ve seen in years, due in large part to the talented Ana Velasquez. Cheers! Ana is smiling and grateful for their support. Marga is sure that Cristina paid off Maxine. Marga apologizes to Raul before saying that Cris is not a good person. Raul says his relationship with Cris has been one disappointment after another. He declares that he’s on the side of Ana, the company, and the workers.

Mom demands an explanation from Rick. Rick comes clean. He was covering for Angi. Carol isn’t his GF. She’s Angi’s. And that’s not all. He confesses, I’m the one who works at Velvet. I’m not a mechanic. I hate cars. I love fashion. I love to sew. Mom gasps, you’re gay?! I’m not gay, Rick replies, Angi is gay, and Angi is your daughter. I need you to accept her because she loves you. She’s happy here and if you don’t accept her, she will be destroyed.

velvet #74 part 5

You lied to us, Mom says. Rick answers, know why? We weren’t happy where we were. We had to come to NY to find happiness and freedom we didn’t have. Don’t do this to Angi. She’s happy for the first time in her life. Mom wants to leave and go back to the apartment. What do I tell him, Rick asks. Mom replies, lie, you’re good at that. She leaves. Sofi comes to Rick. What happened? Rick says there’s nothing to hide anymore. Mom discovered us.

Marga drops the Pima Fashion bomba. Raul can’t believe she’s going to work for the person who stole their collection. Marga says she doesn’t want to get stuck being a seamstress, she wants to grow. Pilar is giving her an opportunity. Raul says he can give that to her.

Ana thinks Marga has the right but warns her to be careful with Pilar. Marga explains that she’s been offered a lot of money. Raul thinks Marga has sold her soul to the devil. Marga promises she won’t do anything against Velvet. Clara steps in to defend Marga’s decision. Raul comes around and wishes Marga luck with a kiss on the forehead.

Rick tells Angi what happened. She asks if Dad knows. Not yet. Sofi thinks Angi should talk to her parents. At least talk to Mom, Rick says. You can’t keep up the lie after that kiss. Sofi says that parents always end up understanding. You don’t know my parents, Angi replies, I didn’t want them to find out like this. I don’t know what to do. If I lose them, I’ll die of sadness.

Ay, Dad has shown up from Miami. Clara and Marga give him a hug. He asks about the theft. Chonita says she had to tell him. But we can talk about that later, she adds, now we have to focus on what matters most. Our baby is getting married tomorrow.

Dad exclaims, Caray! I haven’t even spoken to the groom. Clara says, you can do it tonight at dinner at Mateo’s family’s house. [should be loads of fun.] Time to go to work and Marga warns Dad not to cook, they can order from Mr. Kong instead. Dad forbids it. Oh, and Chonita has something of Marga’s. She hands her Vic’s flash drive. Marga thinks it might be Pedro’s.

Albert is late for a meeting and Enrique complains. Mateo says Albert is at a breakfast meeting with clients. Cris laughs and calls Albert irresponsible. Val asks, what’s the purpose of this meeting? Enrique explains, after last night's scandal, we’re going to cancel all Ana related publicity. And all the dresses shown will be removed.

Mateo cautions. Cris says it’s very risky for the company. Val responds, if you were so worried about Velvet’s future, you wouldn’t have destroyed the collection. [and how about that interview?] Enrique steps in. That’s enough. The point is that Ana’s dresses will no longer be made. The production in Mexico will be canceled. We are getting Ana out of Velvet as if she never existed.

Emilio sees that Ana’s dresses are being removed from the floor. Rick tells him those were the orders. Emilio asks, who’s orders? Valeria comes up behind him. It was the board’s decision. We are no longer working with Ana’s collection. We’re going to pretend she never designed it. Emilio objects. It’s unfair. Ana worked hard on that collection. Val says the company lost a lot of money. They’ve all lost something. Emilio says we know whose fault it was, and it was not Ana’s. Val notes, it’s not my fault either, yet I have to pay the consequences for others’ actions. That’s fashion for you.

velvet #74 part 6

Marga asks Clara if the flash drive is hers. It’s not Pedro’s. Clara says it’s not hers. Marga tells her that Mom found it under the sofa cushion. Clara puts it together. It could be Victor’s. Flashback to Vic placing the drive. [Good girl Clara!]

Angi and Mom have a heartfelt talk. Mom wants to tell Dad. Angi’s not ready for that. Mom doesn’t want to keep lying to him. Angi asks Mom, will you accept me? Mom replies, “tú eres la niña de mis ojos, mi cielo” and always will be, no matter what. A hug.

Clara finds Mateo. [and perfect, he’s on his laptop!] He asks, another problem? There’s something you need to see, she says and she quickly places Vic’s drive into his laptop. What is this, he asks, it must be bad by the look on your face. [I can hardly contain my delight].

Clara opens it. I don’t know if it’s good or bad, but I’m certain this is the news of the year. My mother found this in the sofa in my apartment. I suspected it was Victor’s. Here it is… Wow… this takes Mateo’s breath away. Vic and Cris in very compromising photos. Una bomba. Clara asks, do you realize what we have in our hands? Mateo answers, it’s Cristina Otegui and her collection of lies.

Ana comes to Albert’s office. He starts in on how to offset what happened at the show. Ana blurts, I’m leaving Velvet. I just came to hand in my resignation.

And we are out.

My thanks to the recappers who helped me catch up this week.

Well that 6 dress collection was hideous. The purple was tolerable. I can't imagine wearing any of those in a daytime setting. Chris, Barbie and Val's dresses were much nicer. I still can't see all the hype for a collection of 6 dresses. Shouldn't there be 20 or 30 in a collection.,? All that hype for a 5 minute show.

I thought the wedding was a year out, and now we discover it's tomorrow! I guess Clara got her way in something. Is it still a 400 guest affair? The thumb drive being found and given to Clara almost immediately was a refreshing plot line. Thought for sure it would be dragged out.

Well Chris's goose is cooked. Especially if Al ever goes to a Dr appointment with her or demands a fetal DNA test.

Glad Rick's mom is understanding about Angi. I guess that was the purpose of their introduction into the storyline. I agee, why are the parents going to that dj bar after they went the first time and didn't like it. I guess to.spend time with the kids, though technically Rick was the DJ in their mind so he would have been busy. I liked when Sofi got into the hoodwinking scheme and slapped Rick for two timing her

Thanks for the awesome recap Dondi.

Dondi, I've run out of words sufficiently strong to express my praise and
delight over your recaps.

I've not been sure what to think about Valentin (Val2). His looks and his
movements and statements have made him seem far to stodgy for Valeria.
However, his standing up to his mother as strongly as he did makes me think
perhaps I need to rethink my opinion of him.

I enjoyed the scene where Gloria is informed that the marriage between
Isabel and Benjamin has been validated, so everything that went to Gloria
will instead go to Alberto, Isabel's son. There wasn't much else in this
episode that made me happy, so I'll take pleasure where I can find it,
namely, in this scene.

At first, of course, the scene with the applause after the models walked down the runway to
show off the new collection also gave me pleasure, but as soon as the
audience knew that Ana was the co-designer, they stopped applauding and
started to leave. Yikes, wasn't there anyone who hadn't been
watching Cris's TV lie-fest?

Did Clara's father arrive and almost immediately say "Our baby is getting
married tomorrow"? Huh?? Did I miss a seis meses después sign?
I thought Mateo's mother was going to be spending months planning the
intimate little wedding for 400. ???

Hurray!! Clara and Mateo look at what's on Victor's thumb drive! I wonder
how Gloria, Cris, and Carlos are going to deal with this. I'm looking
forward to Monday's episode, though I suspect my optimism will be sorely
tested in these últimas semanas. Sigh.

Dondi, once again, ¡Muchísimas gracias!

Kat, I only saw your comment after I'd posted mine. Clearly, we both were puzzled by Clara's wedding supposedly taking place the next day. Also, why would Clara's parents be tempted to cook or get carry-out if they're going over to Mateo's house that very evening?

I confess that I'm not much into fashion, so the fact that I wasn't much taken with the six dresses didn't make me think they were a flop, and apparently the audience felt the same way...until they found out that Ana was the co-designer. Like you, I was surprised that there were so few dresses being shown.

Actually, I agree with just about everything you said. (Great minds and all that :-) )
