La Fea Más Bella #123 10/12/06 "A Green Eyed Monster called Fernando Mendiola"

Happy Thursday!!!
Okay, so we have Fernando with the incriminating DVD in hand. Neither he nor Lety are aware of the little bomb that’s about to go off. But first we must go to Munich!

We get some nice footage of a German restaurant with lots of people, food and beer. Next, we see Omar sitting at a picnic table in what looks like a bad Western. He is in the restaurant with two “German” women. He kisses them and tells them that he loves them. His phone rings, it’s Fernando. He asks Omar what he should do. Fernando says no, but he’s very confused. He wants to know what he should do. Lety is acting weird. She was editing something in post-production. When Fernando came in while she was editing she started to act really nervous. Lety took version two but he has the DVD one in front of him. He holds it out to the phone for Omar to “see”. He doesn’t want to be disrespectful and watch it. Omar asks if Lety said anything about it to Fernando when she was editing. Fernando remembers that Lety said she was making a behind the scenes video. His curiosity got the best of him. Omar assures Fernando that if it’s just a behind the scene DVD, it’s perfectly fine to watch it.

Saimon is on phone. He’s talking to Martha’s husband about the cuartel’s plans for the night. He knows that they have something great planned. Saimon tells Paco not to say anything about his wife about their conversation. Lety walks into the reception area in the middle of their conversation.

The cuartel is in the bathroom and PM is complaining about the kid situation. She and Juana want to go to the just for women show! Sara is excited about going to see men that matter, that will move her; unlike Rodolfo. Martha is worried how her husband would react if he knew she is going to see male strippers.

Lety interrupts Saimon’s conversation with Paco. Saimon says he’ll call him later. He asks Lety what service she would like of the messenger. Lety asks him to send out the envelope. Saimon gets excited about mailing something to England. Lety tells him that he has to be absolutely discreet. Saimon promises discretion. Lety lets him know that it’s urgent.

Fernando is still talking to Omar. Fernando thinks that if he watches it he’s interfering with Lety’s privacy. Bomb goes off! The very first scene is Matilde talking about the future Mr. and Mrs. Tomas Mora in their future house. They’re going to have enormous happiness and have much love in this house. This is where they’re going to raise their children and have a beautiful family! Fernando is left speechless. Omar yells to see if he’s still there. He asks Fernando what happened. Fernando re-watches the video and holds the phone up to the monitor for Omar to hear. Omar says this can not happen. Fernando says he’s well aware of this. Omar says that Fernando does not understand the gravity of this problem. Fernando says to himself that the only thing that he understands is that he is utterly and completely full of jealousy. Fernando says he’d like to smack off that idiot’s glasses. Omar asks who is the idiot to whom Fernando refers. Tomas Mora! Omar asks what Tomas looks like. Fernando says he looks like an insignificant. He’s really ugly! He would say he’s Lopez’s son, but Lopez is much better looking than him. He can’t believe this guy is close to Lety!

PM runs up to Lety and asks her if she wants to go to the male review. Alicia looks left out. It’s secretary night! Pm corrects and says it’s secretary night for secretaries converted into production assistants. Lety refuses with the excuse that she’s going out with her boyfriend, Tomas Mora.

Fernando can’t believe that Lety is going to marry this idiot. Omar asks if Lety has mentioned anything about her wedding. Fernando replies that she hasn’t said anything, he wouldn’t want to hear it anyways! Omar suggests that maybe Lety read the letter he wrote before he left for Germany, he’s sure of it. Now Lety’s trying to get revenge. Fernando is sure that Lety is not capable of this. Omar says, “of course she is!” “That monster wants your blood.” Fernando yells at Omar for calling Lety a monster… again. Omar says that Fernando needs to take immediate action and confront Tomas Mora. Irmita knocks on the door. Fernando says bye quickly and hangs up. Irmita asks if he’s feeling okay. He does a not so convincing job of saying he’s fine. Irmita asks him about the commercial.

Lety says she can’t say no to her boyfriend because today is their two month anniversary. She says that he is going to prepare a surprise. Sara says that the cuartel is not the same without her. Lety pleads that they let her go. Of course the will! She says she’ll see them tomorrow. Juana wants to know why they didn’t tell Lety that it was a night for women only. Martha thinks that Lety wouldn’t approve. PM says who cares, Lety’s not going, but we are!!!! Lola reminds Martha that they have to make sure the kids are taken care of.

Lety is now in Fernando’s office. Fernando yells at her and then apologizes and tells Irmita that he’s nervous. Irmita asks him why. The commercial was a success. Fernando says it doesn’t have anything to do with that. Irmita leaves. Lety tells Fernando that she’s done with her chore. “Congratulations, Leticia”, he sarcastically replies. She asks if he’s okay. He says he’s tense, no he’s surprised, no he’s discomposed. Why? HE doesn’t know. What happened? Nothing! Where did you go with your purse? Fernando thinks that Lety is up to something mysterious. She’s pissed, hurt and she wants to know what is up with him. She goes back to her office while he turns the other way tapping his foot. In her office Lety talks to her duck. She asks it why Fernando is mad at her. What did she do? What happened?

Martha calls Paco and asks him to do a favor, will he watch the kids tonight?. She’s got something to do. He remembers his conversation with Saimon. He says that he has to do something tonight. What? Martha asks. You tell me first he says back. She says that they have to go to a meeting about compulsive eaters called… Overeaters Anonymous! (This group really does exist) The cuartel laughs in the background. Yes, she has to go to an Overeater’s Anonymous meeting. Paco says she doesn’t need to go to that meeting. He loves her like she is. She protests and then points out that he hasn’t said what he has to do. He says that he has to go to a national taxi union meeting. Martha says that she has never heard of this union. She hangs up with Paco.

Fernando is listening at Lety’s door when his cell phone rings. Omar wants to remind him of what he said earlier. Fernando says that Omar is an idiot and that he’s not going to do it. Omar says that’s fine. Leave Tomas with their business! Fernando has never thought about confronting Tomas because Tomas is not competition for him! Fernando can not think how Lety could marry someone like Tomas. Omar asks for a final time if Fernando is going to confront Tomas. (Anyone else watch the passing of the gigantic beer mug during this scene?) Fernando’s not sure of himself, but he’s frightened of nothing.

Tomas is at the Padilla Solis house freaking out about something on the computer. Erasmo enters the scene and asks what’s going on with Tomas. Tomas has lost something and he wants it to come back on the screen. The computer completely crashes and “burns” something. Erasmo asks where they caught fire. Tomas replies that it was in an Australian forest. Erasmo asks why this bothers Tomas so much. (I think Tomas had invested money in a Australian forest and it burned down. This conversation went a little over my head. I think that week straight of drunken Erasmo did me in!) Julieta comes down and asks what happened. Tomas made a mistake; Lety is going to fire him!

Lety can’t remember saying anything to Fernando. Her phone rings; it’s Tomas. He says not to get mad. She thinks he’s going to say something about Alicia. That’s not it. First, he wants Lety to promise she won’t fire him. Lety worries that he told someone about the embargo between Filmo Imagen and Conceptos. Erasmo sneaks over to the phone and tells Lety what happened. Lety laughs. Tomas is not amused. He’s lost the investment, for the first time ever! He’s lost his prestige as a boss! He begs her not to tell anyone. She asks who she’s going to tell? He’s worried that she’ll say something out loud to herself and Alicia will overhear. Lety tells him to not worry about that. Lety hangs up. She talks to the computer some more about her problem with Fernando. Erasmo and Julieta laugh as Tomas runs out the door.

Fernando re-watches the DVD. He calls out to God. He remember Omar saying that he has to frighten Tomas. Scare him! Scare him! Fernando is not happy. Tomas is messing with his Lety. Fernando picks up the phone. He calls Lety’s house. Erasmo picks up. Fernando hangs up the phone; he doesn’t want to talk to Erasmo. Julieta asks Erasmo who it was. Erasmo says all the world hangs up on him. Julieta asks him if he’s sure it wasn’t Matilde. Erasmo is not amused.

Fernando’s still preoccupied. He remembers when Julieta told him that Lety was Tomas and gave him Tomas’s cellular number. Fernando tries to remember where he put the number.

Alicia beats on her desk and yells at someone that he doesn’t have any idea about something. Alicia Ferreira is not there. Of course she’ll give her the message! She hasn’t called you? Alicia is a very busy woman, but she can’t help the guy on the phone because she doesn’t know where Alicia is at this moment.

Martha, Juana and cuartel go on about how to get care for the kids. Martha says they have to accept that they can’t go. Sara and Juana say they’ll go by themselves if the others can not go because they don’t have kids. PM can’t believe them. Lola calls them traitors. Martha points out that the cuartel stands for unity and solidarity. “All for one and one for all!” Juana complains that she doesn’t want to miss the show. Lola, Martha and PM point out that they don’t either. Sara points out that there is one more person to ask to watch the kids. El Cheque! Lola protests.

El Cheque is on the phone with Yazmin. They’re arguing about Lola and the kids. He wants to see his kids tonight. She doesn’t want to spend time with them. He’s their father. They’re going to love him regardless. Long conversation rehashing all the previous conversations they’ve had about Efren’s kids. The only difference this time is a cup of extra hot coffee. Yazmin reminds him that they have plans tonight. He says that he wants his kids to know Yazmin.

Lola paces pack and forth because she doesn’t want to ask a favor of el Cheque. Sara says there is no other option, PM is a single mother without a father for her child. Nope, PM points out, I have Saimon. I’ll ask him. Martha asks her what she’s going to say to him about what they’re going to do tonight. PM says she’ll make something up. Lola’s phone rings and guess who it is… El Cheque! He asks Lola to let him take care of the kids that same night and for the rest of the weekend. The cuartel is thrilled! Lola asks where he is going to keep them. He says that Yazmin is his girlfriend, so of course they’ll be around her. He tells Lola that Yazmin really likes her and respects her. Lola should be the same. Quick flash to Yazmin talking about how much she hates Lola. Lola decides to let Efren take the kids. Lola says she’ll let Efren take the kids with one condition, he has to take care of all of the cuartel’s kids. With some dramatics Efren agrees.

Back to Fernando and Omar on the phone. More complaining about Tomas and Erasmo. Fernando can’t remember Tomas’s phone number and Erasmo answered the phone when he called Lety’s house! Fernando hangs up again, upset. He picks up his office phone. The phone at the Padilla house rings. This time Julieta answers. Fernando thanks God. He tells her that he’s looking for Tomas. Julieta says that he’s not there and that he’s left his cell phone. Fernando says he’ll leave his cell phone number. Would she have Tomas call him? She writes his number down on a pad of paper. Fernando thanks her. Erasmo asks Julieta why Fernando wanted to talk with Tomas. Julieta said she doesn’t know; she would never ask. Erasmo asks if it was Fernando who hung up on him because he doesn’t want to talk to him. Julieta says she doesn’t think so because Fernando is really friendly and loves talking with Erasmo.

Lety comes out and asks Fernando what happened. Fernando hides behind a folder. She continues to ask him what’s wrong. He won’t talk to her. Lety walks over to him and takes the folder. She asks Fernando if they can leave. She’s upset and stalks out with a sour look on her face. The cuartel asks her what’s wrong. She tells them that it’s nothing. Alicia also observes that something is wrong. She’s still arguing with the guy on the phone looking for her. She tells him that she has important things to do.

The cuartel decides they’re too curious to leave Lety alone. They take off for the bathroom. They pass Alicia, still arguing with the gentleman. She hangs up on him and says to herself that she’s not going to permit him to repossess her car. She runs off after the cuartel. They’re in the bathroom asking Lety what’s wrong. Sara says she’ll take care of whoever hurt Lety. Lety continues to cry. The cuartel suspects Tomas. Lety says he’s mad at her, but won’t tell her what’s wrong. Alicia listens on from the outside of the door. Lola and Martha say that Lety can go with them. The location is a surprise. Alicia wonders where they’re all going.

Julieta is worried that Tomas won’t come back to get his message. Julieta tells him that Fernando is looking for him. Tomas is worried.

Is Lety going to get to see strippers?
Will Fernando confront Tomas?
And what we all really want to know...
Will they both just get over it and get it on?

Have a great weekend everyone! hasta lunes!

"Is there divine justice for cheating spouses?"

I thought you might enjoy knowing somebody found our site using that search on Google. We were on the first page of results.

OK, everybody, term paper: Do telenovelas answer that question? Your response should be one page or less, double-spaced.

Heridas de Amor - Wednesday Oct. 11

Juan and Fernanda are talking in her office. Juan whines to Fern that Renata is HIS wife. He is upset that Gonzalo wants Renata to return home. Juan claims that Renata is suffering from a cold nothing more. (Last time I checked in my mother book it said colds don’t have HIGH fevers but I digress.) Juan says it would seem that we live in the street Madrina! Its one thing that we live without luxuries and another if we lived like we were indigents! Fern tries to make Juan feel better by telling him that he will never understand Gonzalo. Fern claims that maybe when Juan is a father he will understand what Gonzalo is thinking.

There is a replay of Renata’s nightmare with Carola. (Makes me think we might see this cat fight later on in the telenovela.) Amparo comes in to check on Renata and says she is delirious. Amparo then starts to practice some weird home remedies that I have never tried on my child and from what I recall has never been done to me. Ive tried cold towels to the head folks but never to the feet. Could I have missed something in my parenting handbook? Amparo takes some wet towels and places them on Renata’s feet to help break Renata’s fever. Hmmmm.

Gonzalo and Vicente talk over the lost harvest. Meanwhile Florencia tries her best to guilt Miranda into marrying Alejandro to save the family. Just tell me why isn’t she showing! Where is her growing stomach? Is she really pregnant?

Pamela and Nuria talk of Nuria’s sensation that she knows the hacienda. She has only been there once before but she knows this house! To further her point Nuria does a show and tell of the doll she found for Pamela. The girls start to get freaked out (ghosts?) about the possibilities. Is Nuria remembering another life?

Miranda tells Flor that Si she will marry Alejandro because she loves him, he’s the man of her life. Not for any other reason. Their father calls and Miranda tells him about losing the harvest. He is comforting telling her there is always a first time in all things and she has to be strong and overcome this. She tells him she plans to go to the Tabasco Fair to look for a solution.

Alejandro begs Faby to not say anything. Al argues that it was only a question of time that SLI tanked; it wasn’t just because of him. Al tells Fab that he hasn’t cleared everything up because it takes time and he won’t shock Flor. She wouldn’t be able to handle it. He then tells Fab that if anything happens to Flor he will hold Fab responsible.

Miranda comes into the library where Al and Fab were fighting. They talk over their approaching wedding. Then AL asks Miranda to sign a prenuptial agreement. He says all three of them (Daira, Lisania and Al) have to sign a prenup agreement due to stipulations his father left in his will. She says she will sign it and more. Al says there is one more thing. She has to give him a child before the end of the first year of marriage. (First posting I put that Al said he needed a son. He said nino so that could be either, but Im still secretly suspicious that he wants a male heir!)

Al goes and finds Pam and asks her to be his spy (he didn’t use that exact word but that is what he meant). She balks at the idea telling him she won't be his spy and she isn’t his employee. After Al explains how much he loves Miranda Pam decides she will help. She will tell Al if Fab or anyone else tries to say something bad to Miranda.

Renata is feeling better. Juan comes home bearing flowers while Amparo is making her soup. After Amparo brings the soup and with Juan watching Renata calls her Mama Amparito and she tells her Thank you. Juan plays doctor with Renata, he listens to her chest with his stethoscope and this scene was stupid.

Carola prepares for a job interview when Daniel comes knocking on her door. He has been to see his psychologist and has talked about her with him. He wants to be Carola’s only client. He wants to be charged whatever, he will set her up in an apartment, with car, chauffer whatever. Carola says no.

Miranda whines to Pamela about how Al found her after the cosecha (harvest) was stolen. Miranda talks about having to do everything to save her family from ruin. Pamela then takes the moment to play devils advocate. She asks Miranda what family? Flor is in her ivory tower, your dad is trying to save his company and that is the only thing that is important to him, Renata has gotten married. So what family is Miranda trying to save?

Daniel talks with Carola and Raul. (Raul has just arrived.) They talk over their families when they discover that Raul knows Daniels family, he is Julio Bustamante's son. Raul tells Daniel that Renata married Juan. Daniel is impactado. He says he can’t believe it. He says Renata only does two things, one is to make fun of people and the other is to challenge (dare) someone. Daniel leaves after saying this. Carola and Raul are inspired by Daniels comments to see if Renata and Juan are having problems. They decide they will call Erika to see if she will tell them anything.

Fernanda goes to the Mexico City house to meet with Gonzalo. While she waits she talks with Charo. After a few minutes Charo remembers that Fern is the woman that Tomasa used to talk about. Gonzalo comes in and sends Charo out. Charo goes to the kitchen deciding to give the envelope that she found in Tomasa's room to Fern. She talks to herself as she figures out how to let Fern know. She decides to write a note and pass it to Fern while giving Fern some coffee. She does this and is dismissed again by Gonzalo. Gonzalo tells Fern that he doesn’t want to continue fighting. Fern agrees. Gonzalo wants to know if Fern remembers what happened “That Night”. He tells her that before Tomasa died she told him “Ella tambien disparo.” She also shot.

Al, Daira and Luciano are talking over what the investigator told Luciano. Lisania knew she was being followed. They decide to stop the investigator and then begin to talk over Bertha and the documents that Bertha has. Luciano confirms that the documents are as valid today as they were the day Al’s father signed them many years ago. Daira says she can’t believe their lives are in the hands of Bertha! Al says he doesn’t have any other option than to tell Lizania what is going on.

Miranda tells Pamela that she is not a fool for trying to save her family. She is doing it for herself. Pamela tells her forget that I ever said those things to you. I just care for you and see all the hard work you have done. Miranda says the value is for her, she has a clear objective of what she wants to do. Pam agrees and begs forgiveness again.

Fern tells Gonzalo that only he and Bertha know exactly what happened that night. After some more note comparison on what happened Fern reveals that Tomasa’s children died after throwing the body into the river that night. Fern also tells Gonzalo that Bertha took Tomasa’s granddaughter away after that night. Gonzalo is impactado. He can’t believe that Tomasa never told him, and that Bertha would take the child. Fern says it’s because Nati and Tomasa took the gun and hid it.

Fab whines to Flor about everything that is happening. Flor takes the opportunity to brag about how strong she has become. She talks about surviving her illness and being strong. As she talks she clues into the thought of what if I have passed this illness on to my child. (The child that is not showing through her tight outfits.) She then wonders which one of her relatives has this illness. She lists them all and none have it so she questions just who passed the illness (by heredity) to her?

Juan tells Renata about his new position with Doctor Cohen at UNAM. Renata wants her tour of the University. Then Juan asks her if she will take precautions not to get pregnant or should he? She is stunned asking you don’t want to have kids with me? Juan shakes his head as the scene ends.

Daira asks who could of told all of this to Faby? Al thinks it was someone really close because Fab knows everything. Luciano says that he is beginning to worry about this when Lisania blasts into the room screaming at Alejandro. She tells him to take the tail (investigator) off her. She continues yelling at Al asking when is he going to give her her money? Al says he won't give it to her. Why? Because none of us can spend a dime right now, Bertha has the designs and documents of our father and if she turns them into cash we will be ruined! Lisania says Bertha loves you. You swore you watch over us and take care of us! Al tells her he won't marry Bertha. Daira even tries to talk sense into Lisania but she screams she will never forgive Al if they lose their money and runs out. Very stable girl there.

Al admits its true he swore to his father that he would watch over them. Daira says you can't marry Bertha. You have to marry Miranda before Bertha returns. Al agrees that this seems like what he needs to do. He then tells them that Miranda will sign the prenup and will give him a son. They are happy to hear this.

By the way everyone is drinking cognac in these scenes with Fern and Gonzalo, Daira, Alejandro and Luc. That must be "The" drink for the wealthy in Mexico. Ok back to Gonzalo and Fernanda who are talking about "That Night". Fern tells Gonzalo that Nati was in her hospital and that Nati talked about hiding the gun in the Arbol Lloron (lloron = weeping willow, so arbol lloron could mean that or maybe weeping tree). Gonzalo tries to remember the tree but seems to think the name refers to something else and not a tree. He tells Fern his chauffer will drive her home and they agree to talk more another day. Gonzalo reminds her that all this nice talk hasn’t changed anything between them. Fern says she understands. Gonzalo ends the conversation by saying that when Bertha returns she will have a lot to tell them about what happened "Aquel Noche" that night.

Renata is still upset thinking Juan doesn’t want to have kids with her. He tells her it's not that, it's that the timing is not right. They should have kids when they can offer the kids a home with a yard etc. He suggests they be democratic and that for a period of time he will take precautions and then for a period of time she can. Renata is calmed and agrees. She then mouths off about not liking Fernanda. Juan calls Fern an extraordinary woman. He says that Renata needs to give Fern a chance and then she will see how great Fern is. He also tells Renata that if she doesn’t knock it off about disliking Fern he is going to have to get mad at her.

Miranda talks to God about how she needs to save her family and what is she going to do?! Arcadia walks by and asks what is Miranda doing. Miranda says she couldn’t sleep and what is Arcadia doing? Arcadia is doing some cleaning but Miranda wants her to rest, she will do it. They politely fight over who will clean what showing what a humble hard working soul Miranda is. They end the discussion with Miranda going off to talk with Nati. Hmmm what will she find out tomorrow?

La Fea Más Bella #122 10/11/06 Smell of success, miasma of doom

After the game, Fern and Lety attend a Mexican band concert. In the next scene they are wearing different clothes and visiting the Siegestor arch where he thanks her for going with him and getting over her fear of flying and all that. Lety thanks him for inviting her, says it was great because they were together. They smooch in front of the famous arch-shaped German landmark I don't know the name of. Ooh, they smooch lots! He reminds her that they have to go back to Mexico. ("Don't remind me," she says.) They'll go through Madrid. And this time - she agrees - no tequila therapy.

Two days pass.

Yeah, you read that right. The day of the underwear commercial was a whole week's worth of episodes. The day of La Bolsa Roja was TWO whole weeks of episodes. But the remainder of Fern and Lety's trip to Europe, and Lety coming home to her nervous parents, is completely glossed over.

Well, that's how it is with the soaps.

Anyway. Two days pass. The feas are nervous about the underwear commercial - Fern's still working on it. Alicia tries to annoy them but they pretend that all they can hear is a vague buzzing sound. She tells them their work on the commercial was a wasted effort. They need to understand that they're just secretaries and floor-cleaners; ugly nacas. They mock her.

Then they talk about Lety's whereabouts. Sara had assumed that Lety was helping Fern with the post-production of the commercial, but Lola says no, she's been in the editing room, working on... they don't know what. Martha says that Lety was acting strange this morning.

In the editing room, Lety prays that she won't get caught. Then she makes an audio recording with the engineer. At first she acts a little goofy, hearing her voice in the headphones. She's doing the voiceover for the house-hunting DVD she's going to send to the senior Mendiolas. Her narration has a decidedly gloomy sound. (She pauses to wipe away a tear.) They consider doing another take, but she decides that it's not going to sound any different. When she leaves the studio, she momentarily forgets she's still wearing the headphones, but the cord restrains her. I only mention this because of the time I did something similar, except it was my car instead of my head and the nozzle from a gas pump instead of headphones. 10 years later, I can look back and laugh.

Now we see the current, edited version of the underwear commercial. I think it's horrible, but not nearly as bad as the Bella Life makeup commercial. (Pilar's squirming is supposed to be sexy, but to me she looks like a bait worm squirming on a hook.) Fern is very nervous about what they have. The engineer volunteers that he thinks it's very good. Fern considers watching it again, but he decides it's not going to look any different. Then he complains about the "effects" and the "texture." Galo, the engineer, tries to be patient. Fern decides to call Luigi.

Speaking of the devil, Luigi is finally near a camera, getting footage of the soccer players and admiring their smokin'-hot legs and butts. (Luigi is wearing a fur coat, so we can't see his smokin'-hot arms.) Omar prances and swishes, saying "hello, hello." He is being cranky and making fun of Luigi because he has to pee wicked bad. Luigi says, "do you think being handsome gives you the right to imitate me?" Omar reminds Luigi to do business before pleasure. Luigi teases him for being "jealous," and says he IS working - he is getting inspired by those bodies.

This inane conversation is interrupted by Fern's phone call to Luigi. Luigi is chock-full of attitude. Fern tells Luigi he's finished editing the underwear commercial. Luigi says "good, now you know it's not such a piece of cake, eh?" (actually the literal Mexican expression is "not enchiladas"). Fern says he thinks it's still a little choppy, but Luigi says there's nothing he can do without actually seeing the commercial. Fern says there's not enough time. (Omar is doing a frantic peepee dance next to Luigi.) Luigi says use your feelings, your intuition, to feel the commercial, etc.; use your macho, arrogant sensibility....

Fern offers Luigi his sarcastic thanks and hangs up on him. Luigi stares at his phone in shock. Omar laughs stiffly, and Luigi suggests that he should go to the bathroom.

Over in editing, Lety and another engineer (not Galo) are transferring the camcorder footage to DVD. They watch the extremely awkward moment when Mathilde, thinking Lety and Tomas were engaged, made them hug and kiss on a sweeping staircase and grandly announced that this would be the future home of Mr. & Mrs. Tomas Mora and all their little children. Lety tells the engineer he can cut this part out. He laughs. She asks him to hurry up and cut it out!

Just then, Lety gets a call from the senior Mendiolas. (For some reason, this scene is introduced by those infernal kazoos.) They say they've been waiting for her to call back. (Alicia never gave Lety their message from the day she left for Germany.) She says they've been really busy, but she was just this minute working on their DVD. Humberto is very annoyed with her, but Teresita is more patient. She just tells Lety they want to get that house bought as soon as possible. (Lety is about to cry.) Lety says don't worry, I'll send you the video. She hangs up and makes her super-sad face.

Out in the lobby, Alicia gets a call from the bank that's fixing to repossess her car. She tells them Alicia isn't in the office and offers to take a message.

PM comes off the elevator, waving the newspaper around excitedly. Martha assumes that it's food-related, but it's actually an event, tonight, for women only - and secretaries get in 2-for-1. It's male exotic dancers. They have to go! (Martha wants to know if there will be food.) PM is staring at the pictures in the ad and drooling. Juana runs outside to inform Saimon. The rest of them talk about childcare arrangements. I'm not sure exactly what Lola and PM say about PM Jr. (either Lola is refusing to babysit tonight, or she simply wants PM to spend some time with her child); and Martha is going to stay home tonight because she can't imagine saying to her husband "hey, I'm going out and stare at some other men tonight, okay?" And el Cheque isn't going to be looking after Lola's kids either. Sara says it wouldn't be such a bad idea for him to watch the kids for a change. Lola gets all wound up at the mention of his name.

Irma comes by and disapproves of this ladies-only event. They josh her for her prudish attitude, and PM compares her to Lety's father. PM is very upset that she's going to miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Lola says forget it; it's impossible.

Outside, Celso is doing bodybuilder poses for Juana. Since he's fully-clothed, it doesn't look like much of anything. :-) Juana agrees with me. Celso says he prefers more of a Paty Manterola type. In any case, Saimon's not around at the moment.

Ricardo and his entourage show up to see the commercial. Alicia rushes over to greet them. She re-introduces herself and offers her hand for kissing. (Not so much offers, as shoves it at his face.) She tells Ricardo she's an executive - almost like a president. He greets her as "señorita." PM and Sara crack up laughing. Alicia jokes that since he called her señorita, they have to go out and get tattoos. (As much as I love this, it turns out I got that word wrong; she said they have to address one another as informal "tu" rather than use the formal "usted.") He introduces his clients. (He doesn't give their names; he just says "these are the clients.")

Ricardo is eager to get to the showroom, or whatever you call it, but first Alicia wants to tell him of her interest in publicity and modeling. She also complains that she didn't like the underwear model at all. Ricardo says she was perfect. Alicia backpedals and says she was sort of attractive. Ricardo says she was gorgeous and excuses himself to find his way to the thingy-room, that thing with the stage. Alicia is left behind looking frustrated. The feas jeer at her. She lets Fern know that Ricardo and the clients are here. Fern panics and tells Galo to just go ahead and cut the DVD. He does so. Fern sniffs the DVD and tells Galo it smells like success.

Over in editing, Lety's engineer has also burnt a DVD. He tells Lety that it's all of the raw footage from the camcorder, with no cuts. Lety is compelled to explain to this man that the guy in the DVD is just a friend of hers, a great person, her best friend, like a brother, yeah, he's her brother. Her brother. She laughs.

Out in the hallway, Fern hears her and stops snorting his DVD to go in and see what she's up to. He enters while she's in the middle of saying something funny about Tomas. He surprises her and she starts guiltily, dropping the DVD. He picks it up and shuffles it against the underwear commercial DVD (none of the disks or cases are labeled, of course). He wants to know what she's been doing - she says something like she and Gerardo were doing a video of their day at the country club and she was putting it together as a surprise for the cuartel. He is surprised that she was able to speak in front of a camera, but he's more concerned about the meeting with Ricardo at the moment, so that's the end of that particular conversation. He rushes out, and Lety thanks the engineer for not spilling the beans on the househunting video.

They work on it some more and Lety says she wants to send it over the Internet. He gives her a different DVD and says it contains the file (an edited version, I assume) in MPEG format. He offers to send it for her, but she wants to have the DVD. She thanks him for everything and reminds him not to tell Fern about it. He reaches for a hug and kiss (seriously - this is the woman who supposedly hurt everyone's eyes on her first day and now her coworkers all want to kiss her!). She dodges this, giggles nervously and blows him a kiss on her way out the door. Alone, he says to himself, "she's very ugly, but she's so sweet!"

Again in the hallway with Galo, Fern wonders why Lety was acting so strangely. He also seems confused by the two disks he's holding, but is able to tell them apart - his disk has that scent of success. They hurry to the whatchamacallit room.

In the whatchamacallit room, Alicia is acting like a waitress around Ricardo and his pals, offering refreshments and the like even though they don't seem interested. The cuartel make fun of her, and Saimon saunters over to Ricardo's table and greets them. Soon, the cuartel and Saimon are in yet another verbal scuffle with Alicia - this time in front of clients. They argue about their role in producing the commercial, and Alicia's haircolor (she swears it's natural). Irma urges them to stop arguing. Lola ignores her and says that since they produced the commercial, the airhead should actually be serving them. Juana agrees. Alicia tells them they'll be mere secretaries forever. Martha says something about Alicia being a waitress/model who had to hock her jewelry.

Fern interrupts this meeting of the minds to say hello to Ricardo and his clients. He lets Ric smell the disk, and Ric agrees that it smells like success. Fern says he wants to introduce the crew, but before he can say much more, the cuartel line up and begin waving and taking bows. (That's what happens when Luigi is your employees' only role model.) Fern tells them to sit down. Alicia is outraged and assures them that the only reason they are being allowed to stay is because Luigi's not there.

Fern then introduces them, one by one, to lots of applause. Alicia runs out of the room, screaming "Feas! Feas!" Unfortunately, you can't fire Zeus's favorite daughter. Lety shows up, and he makes a special mention of her. They all cheer extra-loud for her.

They watch the commercial. Fern, Lety, and the rest wait nervously for a reaction. Ricardo and the clients exchange meaningful glances. The tension is almost too much to bear. Then they break into applause and offer profuse congratulations and thanks! (What, no kazoos?? Wouldn't you think THIS would be the time to break out the kazoos?)

Alicia hears them cheering and grumps at her desk. Marcia calls. She tries to get Alicia to understand that the cuartel's success on this task is good for the company, but Alicia complains that she's always at war with them. Marcia says (I think) that she needs to stay in Munich a little longer to negotiate with FIFA or something. Alicia says she's all alone in this jungle of ugliness, and Mexico misses her (Marcia).

After the meeting, Ricardo congratulates Fern again and says "what do you need Luigi for?" They say goodbye and the cuartel discuss how to celebrate. Saimon wants to dance. Martha wants an international buffet with caviar. (I don't know if caviar is available in her size!)

Lety asks Fern what he wants to do. He says there's just one place he wants to be - with her, his love. Lety protests that it's supposed to be a secret, but he points out that they're all her friends, so it's okay if they know. He doesn't like to lie to friends. They are all very happy and supportive and agree to keep the secret. Lety and Fernando kiss, and then Lety snaps out of her daydream.

He says he'd love to celebrate with them, but he's tired. He thanks them for their excellent work. He and Lety go into his office, and the rest go back into the watchmacallit room, throwing a few more insults at Alicia for no good reason. PMS dance; the others talk about going to watch the dancing men. Saimon overhears this and heartily disapproves. He deals with the problem by dancing with PM some more. Alicia comes in and interrupts, and they have the same battle of wits yet again. They accuse her of being jealous, and she outlines the reasons they should be jealous of her, including her hair. She complains that their festivities are interfering with her work.

Lety asks Fern if he's really too tired to celebrate. He says of course not - we're going to be alone. He says a lot of half-finished sentences and struggles to express himself. She asks him if he wants to tell her something pretty. He says yes... but it's not easy, he feels funny. Lety admits she doesn't exactly understand what he means, so now I don't feel so ignorant. ;-)

Finally he spits it out. All that time when he was in Editing, for hours and hours, he... he... he missed her! (He is proud of himself for finally saying it.) She admits that she missed him too. She says she feels incomplete without him. He says he feels the same way. She says it hurts. He says "me too." (Wow, he sure has a way with words.) He plays with her barrette. He wants the two of them to sneak out right now! (Yes, he's volunteering!) She says no, it's not a good idea. She can't say why, but she has something important to do. She goes to her office and closes the door.

She tells herself that she should end her relationship with Fernando, but whenever she's with him, she changes her mind. (Either that, or she says she should be more resolved in her relationship with Fern, but whenever she's with him, she feels guilty. My captions were a little screwed up and and may not have matched what she was saying. "Determinar" or "terminar"? Not sure.) She puts the edited DVD in a manila envelope and puts an address sticker on it to send it to the senior Mendiolas in London.

She could have handwritten an address on the envelope, but instead she used a sticker. I hope she didn't use one of those cheap labels that fall off easily...

Fern calls for her and she comes out with her pocketbook. She claims she wasn't doing anything, and he says it sure took her a while to do nothing. She now needs to step out for a moment. He asks why she's taking her bag, and asks if it's because she can't bear to leave her beloved Moty (the dog mascot on her bag and half the junk in her office) alone. She takes off, saying she'll be right back. Fern is suspicious and wonders what she's up to. He remembers the DVD (containing the unedited footage) that she dropped and is about to put it in her office. Then he tells himself he should hand it to her since it's personal.

He opens the case, sniffs the disk and frowns. "That doesn't smell like success," he says dismissively, and sets it aside.

Will Martha's hunger ever be sated?
Will the cuartel sort out their childcare issues and get see the nekkid dancing men?
Will Alicia's car ever get repossessed, already?
Will Lety's househunting DVD win an award at Cannes?
Will Fern see something he shouldn't, and then jump to the wrong conclusion?
Does Moty sometimes feel smothered in his relationship with Lety?
Find out the answer to one of these questions in the near future!

Mundo de Fieras, Wed. Oct. 11

We open with Luisito drowning in the pool while his mother listens to her iPod and reads a magazine oblivious to his cries. In the nick of time, Mariangela comes in and rescues him. Joselyn gives MA a dirty look.

Diana is released from prison on the testimony of Soraya. Gabriel scolds Rogelio for cheating on his wife. Rogelio says that Diana was just an exotic dancer so no big deal. Gabriel says that if you had these scruples, you shouldn’t have married her. Since you did, she is your wife and my daughter in law and you’ll treat her accordingly. Rogelio asks who else knows about Diana’s past and Gabriel says that only he and Nicolas know and they won’t blab.

Joselyn gets rid of MA and then gets Luisito to blame himself for falling into the pool and to promise that he won’t tell his father about it. The kid agrees and apologizes to his manipulative mother.

In one of those jolly scenes among the pobres, some old guy seems to give Leo his car while the home boys approve. Mayeya appears (she left home after the fiancé fiasco). She is looking for an address where she has an job interview and the old guy offers to take her. It also appears that the local lads are planning a surprise party for Leo and the old guy will go get MA to attend.

MA brings Gabriel some coffee while he is standing around grinning like an idiot. He tells her that he has found out that his daughter is engaged. MA is the first person he has told even though he just ate dinner with the rest of his family. He doesn’t know why he told her except that she seems to be a good listener. Then Gabriel notices that MA is feverish. [Extremely rapid onset of a cold from jumping into the pool.] Gabriel insists that she go lie down in her room while he calls the doctor.

Joselyn sees MA coming out of the room where Gabriel is. When MA tells her that she brought coffee to Gabriel, Joselyn is outraged that she was alone with him. She slaps MA and throws her out of the house telling her never to return. As MA walks down the steps of the house, it starts to rain heavily [can pneumonia be far behind?]

In the taxi with the old guy, Mayeya explains that she needs to get this job because she doesn’t want to go back to her pueblo. All of sudden, old guy has a heart attack or something. Mayeya has to take over driving. Somehow she and old guy manage to switch seats. [No mean feat for two normal sized people in a VW bug much less for an obese person.]

Gabriel goes looking for MA to tell her that the doctor is coming. Of course, she isn’t in her room. Looking for her, Gabriel encounters Joselyn who first pretends not to know where MA is, then is outraged that Gabriel went into MA’s room and then admits that she threw MA out. Joselyn is obviously crazy because she is surprised and annoyed when Gabriel goes out after MA.

In Barcelona, JC spends all his savings to buy some piece of jewelry, probably a ring, for Paulina. Meanwhile Karen is hogging the mirror as the half-sisters get ready to go out so that Karen can meet Paulina’s fiancé.

Leo arrives at his surprise party and all the guests throw something like rice on him. He is told that someone has gone to fetch MA to the party.

Gabriel is driving around in the pouring rain looking for MA. Finally he finds her. He tells her that he will protect her, etc. etc. and they kiss. [Thunder crashes – at least wild beasts don’t snarl] MA says that there can’t be anything between them. It’s not right. Gabriel is married. For his part, Gabriel swears that what he feels for MA is sincere and good.

Mayeya crashes Leo’s birthday party to report that she took the old guy to the hospital and he will be all right. Leo and Candelaria invite her to stay at the party but the jealous would-be girlfriend of Leo is not as gracious. Candelaria remembers that the old guy was going to bring MA to the party. Leo says that he will go for her. Meanwhile, Candelaria invites Mayeya to rent a room from her.

Finally, it has stopped raining on MA and Gabriel. Leo arrives and takes MA away.

Karen is not as interested in meeting Paulina’s novio as she appeared because she leaves Paulina to party in downtown Barcelona. At a restaurant, JC again proposes to Paulina very romantically with a diamond ring in a bunch of roses and a cake. She accepts again. They swear their undying love for one another. Since they are engaged, they decide to tell each other their names. Paulina says her name is Paulina Lamp [JC already knew the part about her name being Paulina. He referred to her by name in the jewelry store.] He tells her that his name is Juan Ashtray. [Except for the fact that we know that their family relationship is going to be a problem, it is ridiculous that these two would not tell each other their names.]

Leo brings MA to the party but she is already sick so she immediately goes to bed.

Gabriel yells at Joselyn for throwing MA out of the house and goes to sleep in the guest room.

Paulina and JC get hired to work on the same project – he as an engineer and she as an architect.

Karen has picked up some guy and calls her sister to say that she won’t be joining them for dinner. JC is happy with that – more time for him alone with Paulina.

Leo gives MA medical attention and pronounces her on the mend. He returns to the party while MA tells herself that even though she knows it is wrong, she loves Gabriel. In the guest bedroom, Gabriel is having the same thoughts about MA.

JC and Paulina continue to wander around scenic parts of Barcelona swearing that their love will overcome all obstacles making it certain that they will have problems almost immediately.

Rogelio is nasty to Diana and says that he will never stop reminding her about her past.

Joselyn tells her mother that she will pretend to act like a sane person around Gabriel but she will be pursuing her own plans behind his back.

The next morning, it’s all useful activity amongst the pobres. MA seems to have recovered from her illness and braided her hair in that amazingly elaborate way all by herself. She tells Candelaria that she is going out to find work. On the way out, she encounters Joselyn. Joselyn pretends to apologize for her behavior of the previous evening and ask MA to return to the house especially for Luisito. She then goes to see Gabriel and tells him that she has asked MA to return to the house.

Karen runs into JC on the street and puts the moves on him. He resists feebly and then gets that deer in the headlights look that men in novelas get in the presence of evil women.

Delores is lighting a candle in her cell when she is summoned to see the warden. The warden tells Dolores that her sentence has been reduced for good conduct. She will be released in the morning. She is impactada.

Finally, Karen encounters JC and Paulina together. She tells them that they are first cousins and cannot marry. They are impactados as the credits roll.

[I thought I had read something about cousins marrying so I googled it. See the Discover.com article below. First cousins are permitted to marry in many US states and many countries in the world.

Heridas De Amor, Tuesday October 10th

Squeaky (Renata) has walked in on Fernanda and Gonzalo arguing in Fern's place. She is impactada and faints. When she comes to she wants to know what her dad is doing there; he was about to ask her the same thing. Squeaky says she lives in the house next door. "How quickly your concept of house changes. This is no house," he says offensively, "no offense but it's the truth." Squeaky mouths off that she's not really his daughter so why is he worried? Gonzo tells her it's Florencia who is not his real daughter. Her eyes bug out, impactada twice in one paragraph. He tells her to pack her bags, she's going home with him.

Fabricio is on the phone with mom asking how Sleazar was able sell El Manglar (Mangrove Swamp) when it belongs to her. He says he's going to go to the new owner and try to get the property back. Mom tells him that Sleazar sold the quinta to get enough money to spring Gonzo from jail. Florencia and Nuria confirm they heard this same story from Vicente and Luis Alberto. Nuria says it was sold to Luciano Sartori, the same guy who bought the reserved shares. "NO PUEDE SER!" says Faby. Sleazar walks in and says it's so.

Amparo is setting the table as Squeaky enters, dazed. Amparo tells her to put a wet cloth on her head because she looks feverish. Squeaky wants to wait until Juan comes home. Amparo says it's always the way that "en casa de herrera azadon de palo", the blacksmith's house has to hoe with a stick, i.e. the cobblers children go without shoes. Squeaky is whining so much that Amparo asks her what's up. Squeaky admits seeing her dad next door and he wants to take her home with him. Just then Juan arrives and sees her upset. Then he gets upset, he's way too sensitive, and drags her around the house forcing her to look at their abject poverty. This is all he can offer her while her dad can give her the life of a princess. In the other room Amparo is begging, "Go Renata go, there's still time for you to go before completely destroying my boy's heart, GO GO GO." Juan tells squeaky they've made a big mistake, she should go. Squeaky cries. Amparo keeps her fingers crossed.

Miranda and Pamela are cleaning up after a hard day's work. Hey, weren't they already clean at the pozole feast? Well I guess they need this bathtub scene so here we go...Miranda and Pamela are getting into their respective and separate baths but still within shouting distance. Pamela asks if Alejandro was proposing something to Miranda earlier that evening. Miranda says he asked if they could make love and she almost accepted. What stopped her? Everything and nothing, but next time she won't refuse.

She is now in the steaming tub and we can see her reflection in the mirror. She gets all dreamy as she sponges water on herself. She thinks she's talking to Pamela but suddenly Alejandro's hand takes the sponge and he begins washing her. He tells her how much she means to him, she is his whole universe. They kiss and kiss some more. "Miranda, Miranda!" It's Pamela, waking her up out of her sexy fantasy. Miranda gasps, then laughs, then plays around some more with her sponge, embarrassed because Pamela says she knows she was thinking of Alejandro. We don't get to see Pamela in her tub, sorry Chris.

Down in the library the brothers Beltrán Campuzano aren't fighting for once. Instead they are drowining their sorrows. Sleazar tells Faby that Alejandro only used him to get close to Gonzo in order to seek vengeance. Faby says little by little Alejandro used him to get all sorts of info that could be used against Gonzalo. Sleazar says they have to do something, he sold their family quinta to help Gonza and to prove his own innocence, never thinking the property would end up in Al's hands. He's SO sorry he says, weeping crocodile tears. Faby, who until this moment has loathed his brother for his wickedness and bad sonmanship, has suddenly been suckered in by his lies. "Don't worry brother," he stupidly says, "one important thing, Miranda is going to hear about all of this." "Not so fast," warns Sleazar, "First let's put on a good show. Telling Miranda will be the coup de grace, then he'll disappear from our lives forever." They shake hands, slap each other on the back and during the man hug Sleazar smirks behind Faby's back. Fab says "Nothing is going to separate us Cesar." Sucker.

Amparo consoles Juan as Squeaky walks by with bags packed. She sobs "I don't want to go Juan. I love you and want to stay with you. Please don't kick me out, this is the only house I have." They embrace and Amparo nods her approval, tears in her eyes. She says "yes, it's poor, very poor, but it's your house." Group hugs all around. These people sure change their minds easily!

Cesar surprises Nuria with a Mundo de Fieras kiss. "Ouch, that hurts!" she cries, rubbing her lip. Sleazar says, "if it doesn't hurt it doesn't mean anything." Nuria has something weird to tell him, she feels like she's been in this hacienda before, many places are familiar. "In fact," (picks up old ratty doll) "here is the very doll I have seen in my dreams" she says. "What do you think? Could I have lived here in another life?" Sleazar tells her it's impossible and as a show of compassion throws the doll in her face.

Fernanda convinces Gonzalo to let Squeaky live her own life and he reluctantly agrees. She runs right over to Squeaky's house and proudly tells her she convinced her father to leave her alone. Squeaky squeaks that she doesn't need the Dr.'s help and now she knows that what her aunt Bertha said is true, that Fernanda is her dad's lover!

Miranda and Pamela are again dressed in their high fashion peasant outfits and Miranda's has a built-in pushup bra. Arcadia tells them that during the night all the bags of cacao were stolen. Miranda and Pamela are indignant and beautiful.

We are in Tapijulapa, Tabasco. Al is in a cantina with Gabino and orders a double tequila. A mystery man calls him "blondie" and asks if he's from Santa Maria. How does he know? In this town everybody knows everything. Since he knows so much Al offers to pay him for information on the cacao robberies. The mystery man says such questions could get Al killed. He walks off. Gabino tells Al this guy "El Guapo" is dangerous and should be avoided.

Al approaches him again. We now see El Guapo has a withered hand which may be the cause of his crankiness. Al tells him to name his price. El Guapo tells Al to keep his money. (He says "no le busques ruido al chicharron", anyone know what that saying means?) He says behind all of this is a Very Important Person and he can't tell Al anything about HER. Oops. Aha, Alejandro knows it's a woman! El Guapo clumsily draws his gun and aims at Al's head. Gabino draws his own gun and aims it at El Guapo. I think we all know what this is called. Finally Al convinces El Guapo to lower his gun and they leave. Guapo dials his cell phone..."Miss Bertha, Guapo here, we have a problem."

Chicharron update: literally means "don't go looking for the noise the breaking of the chicharron makes" i.e. "don't push me till I crack" or "don't provoke me."

Arcadia tells Miranda that the thieves are now stealing them blind on the other side of the river. Miranda jumps on a horse and off she rides just as Alejandro and Gabino return. Al grabs another horse and follows. Because Miranda is yelling at the top of her lungs long before she gets to the river the thieves are warned and make their escape. Nice job big mouth. She's sobbing into her empty cacao pods as Al rides up to console her. He looks mighty fine in bluejeans but he's no Fernando on a saddle. Nevertheless she loves him, sobbing that she has lost everything except him. If she loses him she'll die and so on and so forth. They get right to the kissing and lots of it, even the horse tries to get in on the action. Really. I'm not making that up.

Back at the hacienda Al continues to console Miranda. Fabricio bursts in and asks them do they know that Luciano Sartori bought El Mangrove Swamp from Cesar? "You know him?" asks Miranda. "Yes," Faby accuses, "and so does Alejandro!"

"NO PUEDE SER!" cries the shocked Miranda. But Pamela saves Alejandro by running interference, saying they have too many other things to worry about at the moment. After they leave Al and Faby get into a shoving match. Faby says he doesn't appreciate being used for Al's plans of vengeance. Chest thumping, arm twisting, and scowls fill the room.

Miranda and Pamela spread the cheer to Flor and Nuria that the cacao has been stolen, they have lost everything. Flor gets philosophical, saying there is a solution for everything...except death. She confronts it day after day and she's winning the battle. Even when Florencia is right she's so holier-than-thou in her delivery that I just want to slap her! Miranda is inspired by Flor's insipid resolve. She promises to face whatever comes her way.

El Guapo is at the cantina with two cronies. All three of their hats look brand spanking new. The cronies tell Guapo that they were able to sell all the cacao and tools at the market. Nobody suspects a thing and they are perfectly clean. (Especially their hats.) They want more work but Guapo says do nothing until they receive further instructions from Miss Bertha. I wonder how she'd feel about him throwing her name around like that? In the meantime they are to spy on Santa Maria and report all comings and goings to him.

Al throws Fabricio down. Fab says he doesn't appreciate being the imbecile that Alejandro used to get back at Gonzo. Ha, his word not mine. Al says it was only at first, now he thinks of Fab as a brother. More of the same blah, blah, blah.

Amparo is caring for Squeaky who has chills and fever. Squeaky sleeps while Francisco and Amparo talk loudly in her room. He wants Amparo to sell tacos but Amparo says she can't leave Sqeaky home alone and sick. Guess they're best buds now. Francisco looks at her sleeping and say his grandchildren will be beautiful, tantrum-throwers but beautiful.

While Squeaky is sleeping Carola swaggers into the room and wakes her. "Feeling bad Princess? I came for Juan's things." Squeaky tells her to get out of her house. Carola jumps on the bed, says it's not Squeaky's house, and tries to drag her out. They fight and Carola says a witch like Squeaky belongs on the street. She adds, "Juan doesn't love you. Do you know why he married you? We had a bet and I lost. Can you imagine what the prize was? My body! Juan has always wanted me." Squeaky cries, "No, no, he loves me!" Amparo comes in; Carola wasn't real, only Squeaky's delirium. Amparo puts cold cloths on her feet.

Vicente tells Gonzo that the entire harvest was lost even though Miranda did everything she could. The first crop of the year was completely lost and bad guys destroyed the telephone lines. The hacienda is in the same sorry state as the business.

Florencia flashes back to a green memory with Squeaky saying Miranda could save the business by marrying Alejandro. Flor tells Miranda that the hacienda and business have reached a critical state. They need to find a solution and fast. Flor says the only option is for Miranda to marry Alejandro. She says this like she's helping out, but she has a really mean look in her eyes. Or maybe she just always look mean. Or maybe she thinks if Miranda is married then she possibly won't be a threat to her husband. Or maybe I should just go to bed now.

Leonardo turns around to find his mom and friends all there with a mariachi band to seranade him for his birthday. (NOTE: This scene was taped last week on Ernesto's real birthday, Oct. 6).
* In Luisito's bedroom, Gabriel sits with Luisito and calmly explains about Jocelyn's condition and that Luisito isn't to worry about his mother. They laugh and talk about something else.
* Miriam sits with Jocelyn in the bedroom. They discuss Jocelyn's infatuation with Gabriel and her other lovers. Miriam then informs Jocelyn what Dr. Fuentes had said about her condition and recommendation for treatment. As Miriam explains to Jocelyn her options, Jocelyn listens and acts like a cat waiting for the best time to pounce on its prey.
* In Barcelona, Paulina is aggravated by Karen's surprise visit. Karen updates Paulina about Rogelio and Diana, and that Diana has been arrested for killing Rogelio's lover. Paulina is shocked.
* Back in Mexico, Soraya is visiting Diana in jail. Diana tries to convince Soraya (her mother) not to declare an alibi for her to the police. It doesn't work and Soraya runs off to make her statement.
* Paulina calls her dad (Gabriel) long distance to find out about Rogelio and Diana; then Paulina informs her dad that she's fallen in love with a wonderful guy.
* Meanwhile, out walking in the park, JC phones home to tell his mom (Regina) the news of his new girlfriend.
* After Paulina hangs up the phone, Karen tells Paulina about running into JC outside on the street - Paulina isn't paying attention - Karen asks when she will get to meet this mysterious boyfriend - Paulina says tonight.
* JC is on "cloud nine."
* Demian and Regina are sitting down to eat. Regina informs him and Simona about JC's phone call and that he has a new girlfriend. Simona is so happy for him. Demian is less than enthusiastic. Regina says JC is in love, then asks Demian about his position in the family business - Demian is apathetic.
* Gabriel visits Diana in jail - he tries to convince her to trust him with the truth. She won't change her story. A guard shows Nicolas back to the jail cell and informs them that someone has come forward with an alibi for Diana - Diana says it was Soraya - Gabriel and Nicolas are surprised. Nicolas goes to find out more information. Diana confesses everything to Gabriel.
* Mariangela and Luisito are playing beside the indoor pool at the palace. Jocelyn comes out and dismisses Mariangela - she will watch Luisito, she is his mother. Mariangela leaves them alone - she thinks about the hug she shared with Gabriel as she walks away.
* Gabriel is in the police station's waiting area, thinking about the hug with Mariangela. Nicolas and Diana join Gabriel. Nicolas goes to finish the paperwork. Gabriel tells Diana that she is his daughter-in-law, and he thinks of her as his daughter, and she should never forget that.
* Mariangela talks with Candelaria in the kitchen - she's curious about the relationship between Clemente and her mother, Aurora. Candelaria changes the subject.
* Meanwhile, Clemente is visiting Aurora in her hospital room.
* Jocelyn sits and reads her magazine by the pool. Luisito sails his toyboat on the edge of the pool. The toy sails too far for him to reach - he tries to paddle it back - doesn't work - he tries to use his crutch to pull it back, but instead he falls in the pool. Scared, he yells and struggles to keep his head up.

La Fea Más Bella #121 10/10/06 Too much soccer and lots of nice kisses

I didn't have a tape, so this is on the fly.

It seems the company Fern and Lety crossed the Atlantic to deal with has already pretty much decided to go with some competitor. Fern says: in order not to have wasted the plane flight, let's have some fun. He wants to take Lety to the Big Game.

They visit a building with a giant stone-ball-rolling-in-water sculpture out front (Fern tries to impress Lety with his understanding of the mechanics of this sculpture but she ignores his pseudo-scientific explanation). They meet up with two tv "color" announcers who compete to see who will give Fern tickets to the game. Don Eugenio, Omar Chaparro, Don Corleone (isn't he in the Mafia?), and Toño de Valdes are mentioned.

While these two announcers are joshing with Fern and Lety - they've taken to her - Fern gets a cellphone call from Marcia. He lies and says he's in his club back in Mexico. "But that sounds like Omar Chaparro and Toño de Valdes," she astutely accuses. He says, "Oh, it's just the tv," and the guys pretend they're doing game announcing as Fern holds the phone up to them. Marcia closes: "I'll call when you're less busy." As Fern and Lety depart, the famous guys leer a bit and say: "Enjoy your forbidden love!" Heh.

Fern tells Lety: "There are no hotel rooms in Hannover." "Ay, Don Fernando, how can such a big city have no hotels?" He explains, it's that they're all booked - they'll have to stay in Munich and just go to Hannover for the day.

They walk along the highway and have a picnic. Lety tells him how mean Alicia is to the cuartel, and she sticks her nose into everything. He says: "I know she's incompetent, but she isn't that bad, I can't run her off, there'd be trouble with Marcia." Lety says Alicia is like a daughter of Minerva and Zeus. This reference goes right over Fernando's head as it goes over mine.

But Julie had the answer: "Regarding Minerva and Zeus: Minerva was Zeus's favorite daughter. Someone had hit him with an axe, and she sprang out the resulting wound, fully formed and wearing a suit of armor."

Meanwhile, Omar is in trouble with Marcia for spending so much time trying to get tickets (for Fern) to the BIG SOCCER GAME MEXICO VS ANGOLA which is taking place the next day in Hannover. She says he's unprofessional. He calls Fernando to say, no luck with the tickets, but Fern gloats because he's got tickets already! Omar says: "Your little gargoyle brings you luck! It's the luck of those who don't bathe!"

When Alicia asks Marcia: "Why do you still want to marry Fern?" Marcia muses: "Sometimes I think it's just for vengeance."

There's lots of boogying in the street in Munich. Luigi looks adorable dressed in green.

Lety and Fern are all relaxed and affectionate and she gets lots of kisses. He says, "All the grief of the trip was worth it now, just to see you so happy." A particularly good kiss is interrupted by a cellphone call from Omar, who tries to talk to them in German. Lety hauls out the dictionary and it turns out he's saying: "We're right in front of you!" Yes, Luigi and Marcia are having Omar take their picture at some monument and Omar, looking past them as they preen for the camera, sees Fern and Lety, clearly visible smooching in the background. Omar's talking faux German on the phone so Marcia and Luigi won't understand he's telling Fern: "Run for the hills!"

Lety panics and skitters off, thinking Fern is following. Fern tells Omar to take Marcia and Luigi off to a hotel. Then he notices Lety is lost.

Lety wanders the streets and ends up at the train station, hoping Fern will find her. She cries and sits on a bench. And sits. And sits. Meanwhile, Fern hopes she will find her way back to the hotel, but she doesn't remember its name. He asks the receptionist in his utterly adorable English: "Have you seen a short woman with glasses and a moustache and hair like a lemon?" "No."

UPDATE:A reader explains hair like a lemon: "I was watching with my mother-in-law, who is from Mexico, and she started laughing when Fernando said Lety's hair looked like a lemon. She explained that they used to use lemon juice to smooth and straighten their hair when she was younger. She called it a kind of Mexican hairspray and said that might be how Lety achieves her signature plastered hairstyle. I hope that helps!"

He gets Omar to come to his hotel lobby and Omar asks, "Why are you so worried? The way she looks, nobody will bother her. Let's have some schnapps (the subtitles said 'snacks')!" Fern is way too upset for that. Omar taunts, "This looks like L-O-V-E!"

Fern hails a taxi and combs the city unsuccessfully. The next morning - while he is sitting, despondent, outside his hotel - it suddenly occurs to him to try the train station. He runs over there (very cute in his sneakers) and finds Lety asleep on her bench. He smiles hugely in relief, scooches next to her with a sweet smile, touches her head and wakens her with a kiss. Lots of hugs! She says: "I felt so alone - I don't know any German." "Lety, I would have died if I hadn't found you - I felt so bad!" "You were really worried?" "You have no idea how much." Really sweet kisses, sigh.

At the game in Hannover - "Lety, don't dance provocatively, you're making me jealous!" Lots of shots of Mexicans celebrating in the street. Fern and Lety: Dance, Kiss, Honk on Horns, Repeat. Lots of name-dropping.

Soccer stuff. The cuartel organizes a tv-watching party with lots of food and they get SO excited when some guy shows up with green shirts! See, this is what you get in a cheery novela in which nobody gets murdered! Green shirts! One guy puts his green shirt on top of his head! Pretty good, eh? Simon is sent up on the roof to fix the antenna and he's just standing up there holding it up, miserably listening to others roar as Mexico scores a goal.

Alicia dresses in one of her usual breast-thrusting outfits (the hydraulic engineering on those bras must be spectacular) and goes to an expensive restaurant, hoping to get a rich guy to buy her dinner, but all the rich guys just want to watch the game. She ends up with nobody to pay her bill. "Are you going to make me wash dishes? I'll break my nails, oh, my poor little hands!..."

Tomas brings his big tv (it's not really that big) over to Lety's house - he and Julieta plan to watch the game together the next day. Erasmo throws him out and tells Julieta to come to bed, but she wants to watch tv. They watch an old movie about losing a child and dissolve in tears, worrying about Lety and dreaming about her future - maybe she'll marry in white. Erasmo is enthusiastic about grandkids running around the place. The next day Tomas and Julieta watch the game, chanting loudly and bouncing around. Erasmo tries to read the paper but ends up getting drawn into the excitement.

Marcia has been calling Fern's home number over and over, and getting no response. She is always complaining on the phone to Alicia who says, "I hate to put fuel on the fire [sure you do], but he's probably out with his lover."

Next day, Marcia, Omar and Luigi are in a sports bar or lobby. The BIG GAME is on and Omar is watching but Marcia and Luigi, once more, have their backs to the action. Luigi is explaining that HE likes football cause the players are so sexy and have such great glutes. Over their heads, Omar sees on the tv a big juicy shot of Fern and Lety in the stadium.

Again Julie has an apt comment: "There was a remarkable coincidence of timing that prevented everyone except Omar from seeing Fern and Lety on TV. Erasmo stood in front of the TV at that moment to argue with Julieta and Tomas, and there were TV reception problems at Lola's place."

Will Marcia discover Fernando has been lying, lying, and lying some more?
Will she run into him in Munich?
Will Mexico win the BIG GAME against Angola?
Will Simon fall off the roof?

HERIDAS DE AMOR - Monday, 10/09/06

When Cesar realizes that he has actually sold his hacienda to Alejandro Luque and that Luciano Sartori was nothing more than the intermediary, he becomes enraged. He throws his glass at the wall and breaks it, then starts knocking over vases and ripping up artwork (so-called) on the walls. He walks along the hallway tapping this huge jagged-edged Japanese(?) sword menacingly and then he starts tapping the sword menacingly on the table in front of Alejandro’s naive little sister, Lizania, as she looks on in horror at all of this. (My apologies to Lynyrd Skynyrd, but “Give me three steps, give me three steps, Mister! .....Give me three steps to your door.....and you won’t see me no more!” just kept going through my mind. Now I am convinced Lizania is dense as well as naive and has no sense of self-preservation.) Finally he throws the dagger away. (Shooh!) He yells that her damned brother was just as two-faced as he’d told her he was, and Alejandro enjoys hitting below the belt, and how he’s tricked him into selling off his inheritance, the ranch, the only thing he had left from his father! (Right! “Cry me a river” started playing in my brain; must be the night for golden oldies.) Liz comes over to comfort Cesar saying Alejandro can’t go running over people like that. She’ll make sure Alejandro returns it to him. (Yep, naive and dense.)

Alejandro tells Daira that he’s uneasy about Miranda for some unknown reason. Daira assures him that she’ll be fine with so many people there around her at the hacienda. He decides to wait until the next day to fly over and check up on her. He’ll fly back immediately as long as she’s ok.

Florencia gives her husband the news about Juan and Renata eloping. Later he tells her that he has been asked to submit a design for his company to an international competition and that he might have to travel because of it. She throws a tantrum and tells Fabricio that she refuses to let him go and just abandon her. She refuses to be left abandoned "like Nuria!"

Miranda and Pamela are dragging bags around and raking over the harvested cocoa beans (in the most beautiful peasant outfits and ribboned sandals! Why not sensible shoes and jeans like Gabino?) when Arcadia comes to tell Miranda that part of the crop is infested and has to be destroyed. She sends Gabino off to get pesticides, but the phones are still out and the other plantation owners cannot be gotten a hold of yet.

Florencia apologizes to Fabricio and says she wants him to enter the competition. It was selfish of her to demand anything else. Nuria brings them in breakfast and leaves. (She enjoys cooking.)

Fernanda comes to visit Amparo and to ask Renata over for lunch and some conversation. She is so excited by the thought of finally getting to know her daughter better. Renata appears and Fernanda tells her she came by to say hello, but the other of the two faces of Renata reappears. She starts acting snide and snippy and answers, “Well then, “Hi and Good-bye!” She then gets angry to find that Fernanda already told Florencia about her and Juan getting married when her sister had called earlier asking about Juan’s coming back to help with her therapy. She tells the two of them that she’s been nice for Juan’s sake, but nothing more. She isn’t the least bit interested in those women and she tells Fernanda to for-get-it! Just as abruptly the girl walks out of the apartment and Fernanda begins to cry (talk about your “sainted mother”) on Amparo’s shoulder when Ramon and Francisco come back. Francisco wants to know what just happened.

At the same time Julio and Cesar are discussing strategy and where to open up offices. Julio tells him that he’s been sweetening the pot in order to get the old clients to come over to their new investment house. Cesar wants to make sure none of those clients stick with Gonzalo.

Fernanda apologizes to Francisco and Ramon for the emotional display. They all blame Renata’s behavior on her father. Ramon says the girls need to know what kind of a man their father really is, and he accidentally lets slip that he knows all about how Gonzalo has run her off from each hospital and teaching position she’s had during the years. Fernanda says she doesn't seem to know as much as he does about her past. After Fernanda leaves Francisco demands to know why and how he knows so many things about Fernanda’s personal history. When Ramon decides to tell them both the truth about his job and how much he’s grown to love the family and to feel a part of them, Amparo and Francisco reject Ramon's apology and throw him out. They want nothing more to do with him.

Fernanda visits Santiago at the church and he tells her it is time to tell Gonzalo the whole truth about what happened back then and what led up to that night he ran her off.

Erika and Renata meet Veronica for lunch. They forgive her for the problems she caused over the bet about Juan. Renata says it was a test of her marriage and was glad that it happened. (This novela is chock full of naive and ditzy females!) So then Veronica says she’s going out that day to look for her casket, but before she dies she’s going to make sure everybody pays for what they did to her. Erika asks Veronica to try to think of who could have infected her with AIDS and she whips out a list of every boy at the country club that she’s had sex with (and it is a long one).

Juan is offered an assistantship with Dr. Cohen, his boss. He gets a raise in salary and is also to be teaching an anatomy class at the university.

Alejandro arrives at the cocoa plantation and Miranda is relieved to see him. She graciously (for once) accepts his offer to help with the pesticides and to stick around for her.

Gonzalo is remembering Tomasa’s dying words in his office later that day. Fernanda arrives but he refuses to talk to her. Just then the phone rings and it’s Florencia calling to tell him she missed him and needed to tell him how much she loves him and how great God was to give him to her as her father. The irony of this remark is not lost on Gonazalo. After they hang up, Gonzalo reluctantly agrees to meet Fernanda at her place that evening to discuss things.

Nuria and Florencia are beginning to warm up to each other and so Florencia asks Nuria to tell her about the other side of her father, the business side.

Daira gets hold of Renata on her cell and asks her to come over to chat so she and Erika drop by. They tell Daira that they have no idea who Lizania is hanging out with. They tell her that certainly she couldn’t have a boyfriend so soon since she was so broken hearted over Raul not so long ago. Just then, Lizania arrives and the girls try to get her to open up to them, but she’s too sly. Then Liz mentions something about is it true Juan and she got married. Renata answers, “Yeah, but hey, how did you find out?” (Lizania will have to think fast to give her an answer.)

At the hacienda Florencia informs Fabricio that Rebeca just told her his brother sold “The Manglars”.

That night the workers are singing or playing their guitars and chatting after a long, hard day spraying, picking and burning. Alejandro and Miranda pass through them all and thank them profusely for all their hard work. The two of them sit down and begin to kiss. He does not want to return to Mexico and to be without her. She says once they get back to Mexico in a few days they will immediately get married . Alejandro tells Miranda he is anxious to have her wake up at his side every morning and in fact, he doesn’t want to wait any longer for her to share his bed.

Gonzalo arrives at Fernanda’s. He remarks he can’t believe the miserable situation she is living in. (Sorry? I thought she was doing quite nicely in that middle class neighborhood, thankyou.) He suggests they go out to dinner to discuss things. It makes him nervous to see her waiting on him with coffee. Besides, he wants something stronger to drink than coffee. Fernanda goes back into the kitchen to get something and Renata walks right on in to Fernanda’s place without even knocking. She looks up and sees her father walking towards her. Just as Renata asks him what he’s doing there she faints.

La Fea Más Bella #120 10/9/06 What's up with Lety?

We enter the scene still on the plane with a very sober Fernando and a very, very drunk Lety. (Very different then the usual no?) Fernando is a more than a little annoyed. Lety comments that no else on the plane seems to be afraid. Fernando points out that he isn’t either. Lety first says she wants to either to sleep or that she wants to sleep with him right then and there in order to relax. (Still can’t wrap my head around the verb acostarse – the devil in me hopes she meant the latter) Fernando tells her to be a little more quiet and the shush each other. Lety changes conversation and decides she needs to go to the bathroom. “Is there one here?” Fernando tells her that of course there is, and tries to point it out to her. She can’t get out of her seat because of her seatbelt. Fernando releases her seatbelt and then decides to take her to the bathroom. Lety asks if the plane is moving, Fernando tells her that it’s just the alcohol. He tells her to follow the pathway, but Lety stumbles into the lap of a man from Nigeria who asks if she’s okay. She says she can’t understand him because they’re speaking English. She manages to ask him if he’s a professor. Fernando apologizes (Gotta love the accent… sigh…. back to work… sigh… okay really how sexy was that?). After about fifteen apologies, Fernando urges her back to the bathroom and right when they get to the end of the aisle, she passes out. He wakes her up with some light taps on the head. He pushes her toward the bathroom.

Back in Mexico City, Julieta wants Erasmo to tell her something. He says that since she keeps insisting he’ll tell her where he would like to take a trip. He would like to go to Greece to see the ruins. Julieta wants to go to Venice. It’s so romantic. She can imagine riding in a gondola in the canals with a gondolier serenading them.

Lety and Fernando arrive in Germany. Lety asks Fernando what time it is in Mexico. He says that it is three. They’re six hours ahead. She doesn’t feel good. Fernando says she’s suffering jet lag. Huh? she replies. Fernando tells her that he has to go to the counter to check them in. He goes up to the woman at the counter and says he’s there for the Fernando Mendiola’s reservation. He glances back at Lety and tells the clerk that he needs “one second.” He asks Lety what’s up. Lety’s happy they’re in Germany together. In Germany! Fernando tries to help Lety pronounce the name of the hotel, but she just can’t seem to get it. After a few times he tells her that she has it perfect. (Why do I have a feeling that this is going to back to bite him in the butt?) He gets the keys from the front desk and asks where are the elevators. The clerk points him and he tells Lety its time to go. She tells the clerk thank you in German and the clerk replies “bye, bye” in English. Lety giggles.

Erasmo pulls out a map of Europe. He and Julieta look at Munich. Julieta is happy because that Lety is there. Erasmo comments how far away Munich is from them. Julieta asks him where Venice is. He points it out. It’s in Northern Italy. She would love to be there. Julieta says that she dreamed all night that they were in a gondola. Erasmo says she needs to stop thinking about it so much. Julieta replies that she knows they’ll never go; she asks Erasmo to let her hope.

Fernando waits outside of the hotel room for Lety. She asks him if he’s drinking in the German air. They breath in and out. Fernando says he’s not used to first world air.

Erasmo says they should pretend that they’re in Venice. Julieta thinks that is a great idea. Erasmo starts a CD with Italian music. Julieta gets the idea to lights some candles. Erasmo calls her over to dance. They dance in circles. Julieta asks how much a trip to Venice would cost. Erasmo eyes get really big.

Lety tries to calm Fernando about the meeting they’re about to enter. They both know that it could get rid of all the debts of Conceptos. He would be able to tell his parents that Conceptos is not in debt. Nothing would make him happier. The lady from the company arrives. She speaks German. Fernando tries English. The lady just smiles. Lety whips out her dictionary. She translates that the lady said that she liked them a lot. Fernando hugs Lety and then the lady. The lady says something else. Fernando thinks she says that she really likes Conceptos. Lety looks in her dictionary. The lady actually said that they’re going to sign with a different production company tomorrow. Fernando grabs Lety’s dictionary and then looks upset.

Fernando is mad because he spent all this money, took all this effort and all this time to come over here and they signed with another company. It’s just not fair! Conceptos is the best production house in Mexico. He makes fun of the fact that she called the company Concept instead of Conceptos. The woman looks on with a blank square. Lety tells Fernando to calm down. The lady looks down and then responds back in Spanish. Fernando realizes that the woman understood everything he said. Lety says that they have to return to Mexico with empty hands. He tells her to take his phone and call the airport. She says okay and that she’ll fix everything so they can return. No, wait! Fernando has a better idea. Mexico plays Angola tomorrow morning in Hanover, Germany. We’re not here to watch soccer Lety tells him. Fernando does a strange little cheer to convince her to stay in Germany. He goes so low to play on her fear of flying back over the Atlantic. He does a little cheer for the team very quietly.

Erasmo says that they would have to go to Venice in a plane. Julieta asks why he’s talking like that. They’re only playing a game. Erasmo continues his game and says that they would have to fly over the Atlantic in order to save time. Julieta decides to play along and says she would rather take more time and go by boat. He protests; what if they got caught in a hurricane or storm. Julieta says she wants to go in the Titanic. Erasmo lets go of her and says he’s going to check prices to go to Venice.

Lola and PM hang out at Lola’s place. They’re very happy that Fernando gave them the day off from work. Saimon and Celso come to her place. They make a lot of noise. Saimon jumps on PM Lola thinks that Celso looks nice out of his uniform; every time that she sees him out of uniform she thinks he’s someone else. Lola teases Saimon. Celso declares that Mexico is going to win. Lola says she’s going to call the cuartel to have a party. Saimon says they all should unite and cheer Mexico because they’re going to win. Who are we playing, Lola asks? Who cares; we’re going to win!, Saimon says. Lola says she’s going to call Lety. PM begs that she doesn’t. She adores Lety but she doesn’t want Don Erasmo to find out about the party. Saimon says that if Erasmo comes he may bring his music. PM thinks Erasmo will yell at her if she give Saimon even a little kiss. Lola decides to call Irmita instead.

Fernando says they’re staying to see the game, punto. Lety says they should return, but she does regret going to only one place and then returning to Mexico. Fernando protests. We can’t be in Germany all the time, plus we’re close to Madrid. Lety points out that it’s good that they’re together. Fernando agrees, but he focuses on soccer. Fernando thinks they should take a train to Hanover, to the game. Lety says they’re a little problem. Fernando worries that she’s afraid of trains; he doesn’t want to give her more tequila. Lety says that here they drink beers, not tequila. She says no that she’s not afraid of trains, but have you bought any tickets for the game yet? Fernando looks worried.

Marcia, Omar and Luigi hang out at an outdoor café. Luigi goes on about his idea about the commercial. He thinks that the athletes they use should be in the principle square of Munich, where they are right now. Omar sarcastically replies that it’s a good idea. Luigi continues, but Omar’s cell rings. Luigi tells him to go off and answer his phone. Fernando tells him that if Marcia is with him not to say his name. Omar speaks in really bad German. Fernando tells Omar that he’s in Munich with Lety. Omar reverts to Spanish and has to make the excuse to Marcia that he’s talking to someone that he taught Spanish. Omar walks off and asks why Fernando is in Munich in Lety. (Marcia and Luigi comment that he’s all of a sudden acting very nervous.) Omar asks what Fernando is doing in Munich with Lety. Fernando says that’s not important but he wants Omar to get him two tickets to the world cup game against Hanover. Omar says this will be impossible. Not for you, Fernando responds. This is an order. Luigi and Marcia go on about Fernando and how he is up to no good.

Erasmo says that they can be in Venice in twelve hours. Julieta says that she wants to go in a boat, the Queen Mary II. Erasmo says they’ll go by plane. First to New York. It will take six days by boat to England. Then they’ll need another plane from England to Venice. It’s a very complicated trip. Julieta wonders what it would be like the two of them on the ocean for six days, in the middle of the Atlantic, with waiters serving them. Erasmo says they’re going in a plane, period. The door bell rings. Tomas enters with a TV. Julieta says that a cruise is very romantic. Erasmo points out that it would be very expensive. He asks Tomas what he’s doing with the TV.

Fernando tells Lety to get rid of her sour face. She says that she doesn’t have another. He wants to know why she is mad. She’s just really confused from the change in time. She doesn’t know if its time to eat breakfast or lunch. Fernando says that’s perfectly logical. It’s not easy to switch time zones. They can have a rich coffee. Lety says he never should have taken her from Mexico. Besides, she’s not crazy about soccer. She wants to get back to Mexico as soon as possible. Fernando points out that she agreed to go to the game in Hanover earlier. Her says that Omar is looking for tickets right now. She calls Fernando’s desire to get tickets the game a dream. Everyone wants these tickets. She implores that they return to Mexico.

The cuartel, minus Lety, come over to Lola’s apartment. They were unable to obtain any green shirts. Saimon tries to point out the importance of watching the game with the green shirts. Celso doesn’t care about the shirts. He wants to watch. Saimon continues to promote the importance of the green shirts. (jerseys)

Julieta and Erasmo go on about their trip. Julieta wants a boat; Erasmo a plane. Julieta explains to Tomas that they’re imagining of a trip to Venice. Tomas agrees with the cruise. Erasmo negates this idea. Julieta says they shouldn’t play anymore now that Tomas is in there house. He asks Tomas again why he has the TV. Tomas avoids the question by complaining about his back. He eventually explains that his mom won’t let him watch the soccer game in his house. Erasmo can’t believe Tomas wants to watch it in his house. Julieta winks.

Lety is still sad. Fernando wants to know what’s wrong. He doesn’t understand why she doesn’t want to tell him her thoughts. She says she’s worried that Marcia will catch them if they go to the soccer game. Fernando giggles and tells Lety that he adores her. They kiss. Separate. Smile. Kiss some more.

Luigi checks out the scenery in the square. It’s splendid. He imagines his commercial with all the players on the team coming out of one end of the square. Marcia asks Omar for his opinion. He’s dialing on his phone. He tells Marcia that he’s calling his friend about the tickets. Luigi dances, commenting on Omar’s flavor of the week of a girlfriend. Omar talks about how he’s crazy for this girl. Omar walks off with his phone. Marcia doesn’t believe a thing that Omar says. Luigi wants to know why is lying. He’s acting strange… like Fernando. (Luigi is waaaayyy too perceptive). Really? Marcia insinuates. He’s in Mexico, points out Luigi. She says that the two of them are capable of anything. Luigi decides he’ll investigate and follows Omar.

Fernando and Lety stroll on a path. He spies some man who can get them tickets to the game. Apparently this man is a famous sportscaster (Eugenio). Fernando interrupts his sports cast. The sportscaster is more than a little upset. Fernando tries to pull a name game. He introduces himself as Fernando Mendiola, president of Mexico. The sportscaster makes fun of him. Lety explains that Fernando wants to see the game. Eugenio plays on the word “partido” and asks Fernando why he’s talking about politics. Fernando says he’s talking about the soccer game. Eugenio says that Fernando can’t get in because the type of shampoo he uses. Lety steps in and explains their situation. Eugenio plays on words some more. Fernando implores some more. The cameraman asks Fernando to leave so they can finish. Fernando begs for one minute. They time him and he spits out what he wants. They tease Fernando and Lety for being two Mexicans in Munich without tickets. Lety steps in again. Eugenio is impressed because she’s so respectful (she calls him Don Eugenio) takes off his glasses and talks to her in his real voice. He asks her name and teases her about her last name. Eugenio says he’s going to give them tickets, but they have to go with someone. With you? Do you always do things like this for women that you don’t know? Fernando interjects. Lety and Eugenio hush him.

Omar calls someone for two tickets to the World Cup game. Luigi hides between a pineapple. He’s mad because Omar is going to leave him and Marcia to go watch the game. Omar goes on, but we can’t hear him.

Erasmo wants to know why Tomas has to watch the game at his house, if his own mother won’t let him watch it in her house. Erasmo tells Tomas that he doesn’t want him there and that he needs to leave. Tomas begs. Julieta asks Erasmo to allow Tomas to watch the game at their house. Erasmo asks who’s going to pay for the electric to power the television. Tomas points out that Erasmo is talking to the boss of Filmo Imagen. Yeah, the boss who is on the computer all day. Tomas begs some more and says he’ll pay for the electric for the TV besides it will only be like two hours. That’s not a lot of electric. Julieta says she wants to watch too. Erasmo looks shocked. Julieta winks.

Luigi returns to Marcia. He says that she won’t believe him. Omar is trying to get tickets to the game in Hanover tomorrow. Marcia says that he can’t leave them to do the commercial alone. I know! Luigi points out how irresponsible Omar is acting.

Martha is worried about the food. Lola says this shouldn’t be the only thing that preoccupies her. PM agrees with Martha. Martha points out all the foods that would be good to prepare. The cuartel has to calm her. Lola proposes that they make something simple. The doorbell rings and all the little ones enter with Martha’s husband. PM’s son doesn’t want to go to school. She tells him that he has to go. Saimon stands up and says that they women have taken care of the food. He goes on another tangent about the green shirts. Martha’s husband agrees and says they’re can’t be a game without the green shirts. (I’m assuming these would be Mexican soccer jerseys).

Luigi goes on about how he’s not going to permit lack of professionalism. Omar approaches. Marcia confronts him about Hanover. Luigi wants to know if a mouse ate his speech. Omar insists that the tickets are for one of his girlfriends. Marcia points out how unprofessional he’s being. Omar says he didn’t think that it would be for that much time and wouldn’t be a problem. Marcia asks if he likes Claudia so much, why doesn’t he bring her here. Omar says she’s a lover of Mexican culture. Marcia stalks off and says that Omar will go to Hanover over her dead body. Luigi confirms. Omar complains about the problems Fernando has created.
Lety and Fernando go on about the floating soccer ball statue. Fernando explains that it’s powered completely by water. Some guy comes out and great him. They match the descriptions that he was given. After some discussion Lety points out to Fernando that the reason that they’re there is to get the tickets to the game. Fernando says they were helped by someone to get tickets to tomorrow’s game. The man tells them no problem.. Fernando is jealous about Lety and Eugenio. He thinks that Lety is too familiar with “Don” Eugenio. They run into someone else famous, Antonio Valdez. The two men argue over who got the tickets for Lety and Fernando. Fernando tries to interrupt, but they say that they need a minute. Marcia calls Fernando. He tells that he’s in the club, of course. Marcia asks about who is with him.

Will Fernando and Lety be caught?
Are they going to make it to the game in time?
Is Lety going to chill out about Marcia?

Have a great night everyone!
