Hola a todos! Hello everyone on Caray Caray!

During my recent vacation I flew to New York City for the People en espa~ol Mas Bello 2010
fiesta on May 20. As the blog's unofficial photographer, I was permitted to enter and
stand in the corner with the other photographers in the press room at the event.

Here is the link to see the photos I took both outside the venue and in the press room:

FEAS (and other Novela favorites) - Where are they now....?

Hey folks, I'm back from my jaunt south of the border into telenovela mecca (and just to make sure one doesn't forget it, there are reminders everywhere). I saw other recappers sharing their similar travels so thought I'd share mine too as I figured you might get a kick out of some of these "spottings." Of course I couldn't help but think of CARAY CARAY!!

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Celso is larger than life on a Nextel billboard (I kept saying he is hot...even more so with a 20 foot head!):

Aldo is still insisting he's not a part of this life...[Alma shared this already, but it's so great, and in this instance LARGE (note the tree size in the background for perspective), I have to share it again along with my reaction during the finale...que the hell????!]

I looked, but alas, did not find any of his femenine products yet...

Luigi appears as his alter stripper ego Sergio Mayer in a character on Vecinos, a comedy which stars our beloved leading Juan lady Mayrin Villanueva and airs right before Juan:

Mama Julieta appears in a promo commemorating 50 years of the telenovela...:

Carloca will be shaking her stuff, er, singing at the Feria Nacional in Zacatecas

Ha*ash performed likewise at the Feria Nacional, but I had to miss it due to wedding events but I did get to see Pedro Fernandez and that über loca chic Gloria Trevi....

Triple whammy....La Vale is looking more stunning than ever as a trip of hers to promote McD and the Latin grammys and a "change of look" is featured on La Oreja talk show with a sudden appearance of none other than La Giraffa Sara...you also may remember the male host appearing as himself giving away the non-fruitioning dinner with Fernando Colunga to the cuartel....

Sorry, this video was taking hours to download...I'll keep trying ...

MUNDO fans, she may have died bloodily, but she can still hock footwear with the best of them, our own Jossie is top row, 4th from left...:

And sexy Cristobal is relighting the airwaves in a replay of an oldy with Heridas star Miranda:

Destilando is as popular as can be while hanging out eating cabeza and tripa at a neighborhood taqueria:

And never fear, for all you Destilando fans, if you can get to Zacatecas by Fri night, you can see your own beloved Gaviota singing mariachi and traditional music at the Palenque. Que pena que ya estoy de regreso.:

And finally just for fun, Destilando fans might recognize the beautiful blue agave fields of Jalisco, and the Catedral Metropolitana on a rainy Sat.night...:

Some things I unfortunately missed photographing were Paula selling fragrances, Juan's moving box (really Huevos San Juan), Jossie in some other ads, and a few program appearances including the Pasión previews.
Notably absent from any sightings was our beloved Don Fernando. Didn't see him or his likeness anywhere, once. The whole time. Que pena.

Oh, and Pasión with our hunk Colunga starts in Mexico on Monday!!!!!!!

A Cultural Holiday Turns Into A Novela Excursion

El Angel Soler

I was in Mexico City last week to see a great exhibit on Frida Kahlo. We also took a side trip to visit her home-turned-museum in Coyoacan. You can imagine the flash of nostalgia that hit me when, on the way there, I saw this from the tour guide's van window!

It's a billboard ad for the national lottery; it reads "You too can be an angel."

More than anything, I was happy to see Juan/Aldo's hair had been cut back to a pleasant and managable length.

More Angels

From our hotel we also had the best view of the Angel de la Independencia, which was just a block away. The brace-face is my daughter, the giggling one is my niece. The golden Angel is in the background.

In addtion to appreciating it for its cultural and historic significance, I was excited to recognize the angel from the novelas, which usually show it to indicate that the story is taking place in el D.F.

Money doesn't grow on trees, but sometimes creepy dolls do.
On another side trip, we visited Xochimilco, where we got a close up view of the Isla de las Muñecas Perdidas (Island of Lost Dolls). Die-hard novela fans will of course remember this from Heridas de Amor, where one of the villians was taken to meet her end.

While resting between outings at the hotel one day, I caught a very nice TV talk show interview of Angelica Maria, along with a cool montage of her in her many novelas through the years. She was in them way back when they were still in back-and-white, and she looked gorgeous.

Another interesting surprise came when we went out to dinner. The restaurant was classy, despite the TV on near the bar. The program playing? None other that that day's episode of Destilando Amor. I tried to look away, as they are several months ahead of us here in the U.S., but I couldn't help it; I just had to watch! I tried to be discrete for the sake of my fellow travelers, who hopefully did not notice that I was not paying attention to them at all. While I couldn't hear what was going on, I did get to watch almost the whole episode, which was filled with many scenes of characters in varying degrees of impacto.

As you can see, I got double my money's worth on this trip... and I thought of you all at Caray, Caray! often!

Welcome our new Duelo blogger: Margaret

I'm happy to say we have a new blogger premiering tonight with the grand opening of "Duelo de Pasiones." Margaret was following Heridas at her own blog, here is her final post on the novela, which includes some praise of our own little operation here. Hurrah!

And a big, big thank you to Jardinera who has been pulling down two slots a week for untold weeks! I bet she's relieved to be down to one...

A couple of late notes on "Heridas de Amor"

Carmel wrote: I did find the Nati scene ridiculous. I think the writers of this episode (a) hated the actors (b) hated the show's producers, and/or (c) hated the audience, because this is the most idiotic ending to any show I have ever seen.

Cesar getting killed in a random car accident? Gee, why didn't George Lucas think to kill off Darth Vader that way? Just have a space ship accidentally fall on his head. And Sauron, maybe he could have tripped on a pebble and broken his neck and saved Frodo the trip to Mount Doom!

This episode made even silly "Peregrina" look like Shakespeare. What a letdown. Oh well.

From J. Landry: "Chris, I wanted to personally thank you, Gloria, Sylvia, Lynn, and Jardinera for doing such a fabulous job recapping Heridas, and sticking with it even when the novela got particularly dull and/or stupid.

Thanks, and good luck with Duelo. I don't really find the previews all that enticing, but if anybody can make it interesting, it's you bunch!

Good work, crew! Our first start-to-finish novela! On to the caves!!

P.S. We will hit the 63,000 mark for visitors sometime today...

Heridas January 12 - The Grand Finale that wasn't very grand and didn't feel very final.

When Al interrupts the kiss, Fab gets up and asks Al what he is doing here. Al says I guess nothing. He asks to talk to Miranda alone. They snipe at each other about Fab and Babe Lawyer, Al wants to talk about ‘us.’ He says he came to get her back but it looks like a wasted trip. She says it was. She is getting her contractually obligated crying out of the way early today, by the way. They agree that they have suffered much pain and many heridas. Al says she deserves to love freely, or something, then says he’ll give her a divorce if that’s what she wants and leave her the company too. She says what are you talking about? He says it’s a gift, Gonzalo would have wanted it that way. Cry cry cry. She asks what he is going to do next, he says go back to Italy I guess, back to his other business. He says they have come right back to where they started. She’s with fab, he’s alone, he always thought maybe it would end this way. He stands up and says goodbye and leaves. She thinks to herself “tell him stupid! Tell him you love him!” But she just lets him go. Fab stomps over and wants to know what’s going on. She tells him the very short version, Al is leaving her. Fab says to run after him, she obviously loves him, she says no, “I already have an agreement with you.” I had to pause the recording right here from the sheer stupidity of that statement. Her agreement, which I don’t remember her making really, is more important than her HUSBAND? The show is ending and she is just as stupid as the first episode. Al is right, we ARE right back where we started. Jeez. Anyway, Fab says he knows she’ll never look at him like she looks at Al, Fab runs off to go stop Al.

Slutty and Renata discuss that Miranda will be rich from the Chocolate, now she takes the servant to Puerto Vallarta, who will help around the house now that everybody is pregnant? Renata says how they have learned to keep house a bit by themselves, etc etc. Boring conversation. They are trying to cook something but it doesn’t look like they know what they are doing. Slutty finally wants to know who the father of Renata’s baby is, she says she doesn’t know but Juan will the father either way. What is important is that the baby is hers, the baby will be raised to be like Juan. Then she holds her stomach like she’s having pain, uh oh baby trouble.

Back to Bertha and the dead dolls – Bertha is passed out, Guapo takes out her gag. She says “why?” He asks how can she say that, hasn’t everyone else asked that about her as well? He proceeds to name the entire cast of the show. Finally, he says, is me. He prattles on about something, she finally asks him to kill her. He says no, for her dying would be a prize. She asks, “then what?” He says he is going to keep trying to make his smell of fear perfume. Perhaps he’ll keep cutting body parts off. She calls him the angel of vengeance. He traces the cutters over her chest then puts the gag back in her mouth. Then he gives her a good sniff and leaves the room. She whines and groans.

At the mansion, Renata is laying down and in pain, praying that everything is all right. Begging the virgin to save her baby. We’re 1/3 of the way through and not much is happening, when will we get something here? My wife predicts that at the ¾ mark, it will suddenly be “3 years later” and everyone will be happy with ten kids. Perhaps. She knows more about these shows than me. Slutty had run off to get Juan I guess, the two of them come running in, Juan says she may be having a symptom of a miscarriage. Renata says no way, the baby has to be born. She says if it’s a girl she wants to name it Maria, like the virgin. He says yes, and if it’s a boy they will name it Jesus. Suddenly her pain vanishes. She gives Juan a hug and says thanks to the sky. Oh. My. God. Whoever wrote this episode is mailing it in like I’ve never seen before. You have got to be kidding me. I don’t even know what to say. Yes, it was as ridiculous to see as it sounds.

Al tells Fab that he (Fab) won, so what can he (Al) do? Fab says don’t be stupid, Miranda loves him. They argue back and forth “she loves you. No, you.” Finally Fab tells Al that Miranda is pregnant with Al’s child. Al is so happy that he hugs Fab and says “thank you” before running back to Miranda. Fab dramatically says “Goodbye Miranda, my love” to the open air. Al finds the table empty and asks the waiter where Miranda went, the guy points off somewhere. Al has a non-green flashback to Nati giving him some advice earlier. He runs after Miranda as Fabricio comes back to the table to get his phone, which starts ringing. It’s Cesar! Fab says “Where are you, I was waiting for you back at the hotel.” What? They are up to something? Cesar says he couldn’t wait, he has something important to finish up with Miranda. Fab says no way, and he has the money Cesar asked him for. They agree to meet later where Fab will give the money. Fab tells him after that to forget all about his existence and Cesar promises.

Renata asks Juan, “what are we going to do?” Juan doesn’t say anything. She asks, “what life awaits us?” He says a life of love and work, that will get better. She asks if he will always be with her, he says his whole life. She says she hopes he always looks at her the same way and will protect her and their kid with his strong arms. I guess that wraps up the Renata/Juan story. They talk some more mushy love stuff, lots of declarations of love, etc etc. So Bertha is done, Juan and Renata are done, I think all the minor characters (Luciano, Pamela, Babe Lawyer, and the like) are all wrapped up.

Miranda walks along a balcony deep in thought. She cries some more, I’m sure they asked her to give a little extra for the grand finale episode. She has a flashback of yelling at Fab when he dumped her and Al came up and kissed her. In the flashback he says that one day she will tell him she loves him. Some stuff about stealing a kiss, back in the present she says to herself he stole her soul and heart too. As she looks out on the coasts, suddenly the music skips as a hand covers Miranda’s mouth and pulls her away. !!!! Normally this would lead to a month’s worth of kidnapped episodes but we have about ten minutes to wrap this up. I expect Al to find her pretty quick this time. I hope he has a gun on him.

Mophead is waiting by a car mumbling about “Cesar where are you?” Fab sees her and asks what she is doing here. She says that Cesar is here, he knows, he’s giving him money so he disappears. She fusses and whines that Cesar is still her son. She is disappointed to hear that Fab didn’t hook back up with Miranda.

Up in a room, Cesar is trying to rape Miranda as she yells at him to let her go. He says hateful things and tries to keep kissing her. She says she hates him, he says he hates her too. She wakes up with a start. What the hell? There is an envelope on the bed, the note says “if you want to be free put on this dress, if you don’t, you will suffer the consequences.” I’m getting lost. There is a big red dress on the bed for her. She says “it’s Cesar, but I have to do what he says, I’ll find a way out.”

Back to Bertha, I thought we were done here? Guapo takes off the gag, she mumbles “kill me already” over and over. Guapo has a vial, he says he has the scent of fear now. He puts some on like cologne. He gets close and tells her to smell him. She doesn’t say anything. Guapo says “here we are.” He puts a gun to her head, she says “kill me at once.” Instead, he puts the gun under his chin and shoots himself. She says “no… not you…. No. I was the one who should have died.” So I expect that she will just stay tied to that chair until she starves to death?

Nati is stumbling around outside the hacienda thinking “cocolbosh…..cocolbosh…” in her head like some kind of drunken zombie. I had to pause to have a good laugh. She ends up walking into the forest, managing to keep her clothes bleach-white. She listens to the birds. Finally she sits down and listens some more. Then she starts up again in her head “cocolbosh…..cocolbosh….” She slumps over forward, did she die? We see a white bird wake up and fly away, perhaps that was supposed to be her in her next life now.

Cesar, Fab, and Mophead are sitting together. Fab and Mophead tell him he can’t leave the country, Cesar says he has to, he’s leaving soon with Miranda. They tell him that every way is being watched, he won’t be able to get out. Mophead tells him, “Open your eyes, Cesar!” He replies, “you open your eyes, stupid!” Fab gets up to defend his mother’s honor but Mophead shouts them down. Cesar says he doesn’t know the word ‘limit.’ Mophead says he will run into the law. He says the only he knows is his own. Nobody understands. What a whiner. Only one person understood, that was Bertha, and he’ll never find out where she is. The others go on about the police again. Cesar says if anything happens to him, it will be Fab and Mophead’s fault. Fab says they won’t play in his game. Cesar asks for his money. Mophead finally says that she called the police herself, they know where he is! “They knowwwwwww!!” she cries. Cesar is IMPACTADO. He’s busy looking in the money bag and this admission from his mom stops him cold. He can’t believe it. “What did you do? Imbecile! What did you do?” He gets up and leaves. Mophead begs him to come back, he stops in the street to look back at them, then starts to walk again. Just then, some 1990 Mercury Cougar or something like that, baby poop brown too, plows into him and leaves him dead and bleeding in the street. Really. This is the weakest grand finale episode I have seen. I guess I haven’t seen too many, but jeez, all that and he just gets hit by a car? That’s IT? Cripes.

Miranda is wearing the red dress, all sexed up, and comes out the door onto the deck of a yacht. Yes, somehow she got on a boat. She finds Al driving the boat, she says it can’t be! Yes, it’s him! She asks him why he took her the way he did, he gives her a ring and asks her to be with him forever. She starts to go on about something, he says be quiet, he just wants to hear the secret from her mouth. She tells him that they are going to have a baby. He says strong like him, beautiful like her. They start making out. Who is driving the boat now? So I guess he is the one who grabbed her earlier, but what about the Cesar thing? If it was a nightmare, ok, but that means she never saw who grabbed her. Did he knock her out? Did he drug her somehow with Cocolbosh? What the hell? I am so confused about the logistics of that whole thing. And how did he get an unconscious woman onto his boat? Doesn’t that scream “CRIME” to anyone who might have seen? I am at a loss for words. I am simultaneously let down and thrilled at this episode. It is horrible, which sucks, but it is so horrible I can complain and mock to my heart’s content.

Some medics are loading Cesar into an ambulance. Mophead says maybe he is still alive, the medic rather coldly tells her no, he’s brain dead. So we get brain dead Cesar as our ending for this. What a ripoff. Fab says he’s going to get the baby and they’ll go back to Mexico. Mophead says to tell Miranda and Al what happened, Fab says no, it’s none of their business. Whatever Fab, you have been such a great decision maker so far, again I say WHATEVER. Mophead says fine, then call Fern. She whines fabulously. She tells Fern that Cesar will be able to donate a heart Julio for transplant. Hmm, maybe something came from that ending after all. I didn’t see that coming. What would be better though, is if somebody shot Cesar and ripped his heart out to give to Julio. Or something like that.

Back on the boat, Al and Miranda are making out in slow motion while nobody drives the boat. It’s zipping along pretty quickly Then again, now that I think about it, Al does nothing for himself. I guess he wasn’t driving the boat when Miranda found him, he was just standing at the railing. Well anyway, he proceeds to get busy with her right on the front of the boat, right in front of the window where the guy who IS driving the boat is. The clothes don’t come off yet, but the pilot/driver (what do you call a yacht driver?) gets a show. Al tells Miranda that tomorrow is another day, she kisses him. He asks what she is doing and she says she’s stealing a kiss. They have the conversation from the flashback again but in reverse. Haha ha ha oh those clever Luque/San Llorentes. They make the rest of us look so pedestrian. They declare their love for each other and make out in slow motion some more while the theme song plays along, the long version.
The end.

I would go into some of the unanswered questions or loose ends, but I don’t have the energy for it. I’m wiped out. I’m sure the comments will cover those topics. That’s all folks, Duelo starts on Monday!

Heridas de Amor Thursday January 11

At the island of the dolls in Xichimilco
El Guapo tells Berta he's going to extract the scent of fear and death and cuts one of his fingers and then proceeds to cut off one of Berthas fingers .

Liliana, tells Miranda that she is sorry that without her intention she caused so many problems between her and Alejandro. Miranda tells her that is she wants her to listen to her, to be honest and tell her the truth, that all she did was for her own sake. Liliana tells her she is right.

they argue and Liliana asks Miranda if she would be willing to give Alejandro his freedom, she replies, that she would let Alejandro make his own decisions and that is what love is all about.

In Puerto Vallarta, Miranda plays with her nephew as Charo tells her if she spoils her nephew she can only imagine how she'll treat her own son. She asks her if she still loves Alejandro and she says she does as she recalls her wedding day. Rebeca arrives and tells her that Julio is getting worse but decided to come to take her grandson home.

Liliana, goes to see Alejandro and tell him that Miranda is a great woman and that he should go after her, she says that that will be the last time they see each other and dumbell has the nerve to say that if shouldn't that be his decision.\She tell him that Miranda is letting him decide what he wants to do and not to many women would do that. She tells him that she already called Sofia's dad and that he was thrilled to find out he has a daughter and even ask her to give their relationship a try, Alejandro is happy for her and tells her that if she ver needs anything to call him. When Liliana leaves he calls his chauffer and tells him to have his plane ready ASAP he is going to the hacienda to try to win Miranda back because she is the love of his life and he will do whatever it takes towin her back.

Alejandro arrives at the hacienda and sees Arcadia. He asks where is everyone and she says she has not been home so she has no idea, he looks for Gabino and asks him where Miranda Gabino tells him that even if he cuts his tongue he won't tell him where she is. He asks him if it's an order from Miranda and he says it is. He tells him he loves Miranda like he loves Arcadia but Gabino tells him if he has to be loyal to him or Miranda he'll pick her. He begs him to help him and Gabino finally admits that she is in Puerto Vallarta with Fabricio that the hotel info is on the desk in her office, and to hurry because she leaves for Europe the following morning.

Cesar arrives in Puerto Vallarta and checks into the hotel under Alejandro Luque's name. Charo tells Rebeca she saw Cesar but Rebeca tells him he's on the run and can't be him. Cesar sees Rebeca and says she's going to help him.

Alejandro thanks Naty for giving him cocoa water saying it gave him strength. She tells him to fight for her and listen to her in silence. She gives him some cocoa and says if Miranda turns him down to give it to her and tells her the cocoa bush needs a lot to go thru lots of hands. He tries to talk but she tells him he's loosing strength and tells him to leave as he orders his plane ready to go to Puerto Vallarta.

Miranda asks Fabricio how his project went and he tells her he already signed the contract to put his project forward. He tells her he wants their trip to be a second chance and if it doesn't work they'll remain friends. Veronica tells Renata that now that they're rich again that have no help. Renata says she's learned along the way what is more important. Veronica asks her who the father of her baby is and she says it doesn't matter because the baby is hers and she is going to raise him to have the same qualities that Juan has.

Alejandro arrives at the hotel and asks if Miranda Sanllorente or Fabricio are staying in the Hotel, the man tells him that the Fabricio and his wife are having lunch at the restaurant on the deck.
Miranda tells Fabricio she can't make a decision in the time they had to each lunch. He tells her to think that their love was interrupted by Florencia and then Alejandro. She tells him she doesn't see him as a man and doesn't want to lie to him. He leans over and asks her for another chance and kisses her.

Alejandro arrives at that moment and sees them and says they have taken great advantage of their time together. Fabricio asks Alejandro what he's doing there as he and Miranda stare at each other. He says he has nothing to do there as he asks Miranda if they can talk.

OK everyone... this is my last recapp, tomorrow is the grand Finale... I hope you like it....Its been a pleasure meeting all of you and see you around!!

In the mean time I will leave you my fundraising webpage in case anyone is interested in donating to the Save The Children charity for which I need to raise $5000, and for whom I'm doing the trek to India.

Heridas de Amor - Wed January 10 Guapo's Back!

Marisol warns Lilliana to be careful before she goes looking for the father of Sophia. It might turn out that Lilliana has to maintain him. Lilliana jokingly asks Marisol what she is going to with her. Lilliana informs Marisol about her plans to talk to Miranda.

Luciano advises a businessman Paolo by phone to not fall in love with Miranda, she is married to Alejandro. He also tells Paolo that the business will return to normal soon with AL at the helm. Vicente enters the office to tell Luciano that they have a problem; they were not the only ones who accused Cesar of fraud and abuse of confidence, Cesar’s business partners have also reported him. There is also arrest warrant out against Julio. Luciano is concerned. Vicente tells Luciano not to call Julio, so not to shock him, but instead warn Fab.

Pamela and Miranda discuss Bertha. Fab comes in agreeing that Bertha is despicable. He asks Miranda to go with him and the baby to Puerto Vallarta for the 1st part of his project. He wants her to go there and then on the London with him the week after next. She agrees to go but insists on taking Charo. Luciano calls in on Miranda's cell. He is looking for Fab. Fab gets on the phone and learns about the warrant for Julio. He is mad at Cesar.

Al enters his office. Luciano informs him that Paolo Rossi is interested in Miranda. He calls Miranda. She answers immediately drawing her guns asking if he is still with his girlfriend. Al tries to explain but Miranda isn’t buying it. He tells her she is right, he doesn't have arguments for what happened. He wants to see her. She tells him she is busy and to call later for a time. They hang up. AL talks to himself about finding a way to get back in her good graces so she will forgive him.

Cesar arrives at his apartment calling for Bertha and Lucas. They are not there. He pours himself some cognac and talks out loud that wants them to return at least so he can say goodbye to Bertha.

Fernanda comforts Julio who is rubbing his chest, sitting on the couch in the living room of the Mexico City mansion. She has ordered a pacemaker for him and it should be in tomorrow. Fab runs into the room to share the bad news that there is an arrest warrant out for Julio. When Julio hears that the order is out in his name his eyes widen and he falls back on the couch. The others all hover over him.

A week later Fernanda runs over the details about Julio with Pamela and Luciano. She thinks that Julio needs a transplant; he has been between life and death for the past week. Rebecca is strong Fern states but she worries Rebecca will get sick from worry. They start to discuss Fab and how well he has been doing as a “NEW” man. Pamela takes the opportunity to tell Fern that AL and Miranda haven’t seen or spoken to each other in a week. Pamela is worried about how strange Fab is looking at Miranda. She tells Fern about how Fab said he wanted to re-conquer Miranda at the Chocolate Party. Pamela tells Fern that last night Miranda told her that Miranda has everything in order and she doesn't think she will return from her trip. She is going to Puerto Vallarta with Fab and then later on to Europe. Pamela thinks Miranda is going to give Fab a second chance. Fern is impactada. Luciano is more impactado.

Amparo brings Renata a baby gift she made. Renata freezes seeing the gift and Amparo starts in on memories on what happened with Renata’s wedding dress. Renata tells her it’s not that, the gift is wonderful, it’s just that she is not sure if the baby is Juans or ….? Amparo comforts Renata with the story of how her nephews aren’t her kids but are just like her own. It’s more important to raise children than to conceive them. Renata is touched. They hug.

Fern calls Miranda and leaves a message urging Miranda not to leave with Fab. Pamela and Luciano stand and watch as she does. Pamela tells Fern that maybe Miranda should give a second chance to Fab, they were together since they were kids. Fern objects to that idea and argues besides Miranda is pregnant with Alejandros child. Luciano freaks on this revelation. Luciano tells the women that Alejandro immediately needs to know about the pregnancy. Luciano questions Pamela on why she didn’t tell him. Pamela answers that Miranda didn’t want Al to know and has asked everyone to not say anything. Luciano has his arms crossed, he is plenty pissed. He tells her that he is her husband, how could she hide something this important from him. Plus when Al finds out he is going to think that Luciano has also been hiding this information from him. Pamela weakly argues that Miranda is like her sister and and and. Before leaving the room, Luciano tells Pam that when Al returns he has to find out. Fern apologizes to Pamela for spilling the beans. Pamela goes to talk with Luciano.

Renata talks to herself in the mirror just like the crazy girl Veronica/Vera from Barrera de Amor. She wants her alter self to pay attention to what Amparo said. Renata wants her other self to understand that after today SHE is going to be in charge of her responsibilities. She is never going to see alter self again. She is going to live honestly and with clarity of her emotions. Juan comes in the room bearing gifts for the baby. Renata is excited to see him and they kiss. Veronica, from this telenovela, enters and they all look at the gifts together.

Luciano stands in the garden pouting. He stomps his foot when Pam approaches saying that he is disconcerted. He never knew there were these types of secrets between them! Pamela does her best to explain. Luciano looks off with a wrinkled forehead. He argues that Miranda can have a thousand arguments on why not to tell Alejandro, it doesn't matter she should have told him. Vicente walks up telling them they need to have a family meeting immediately. Cesar has just called him.

Fern is in the living room talking over Amparo’s life with Francisco and Amparo. Francisco wants her to live her life and he his. They laugh over the silly discussion. Pamela, Vicente and Luciano enter with the news that they need to have a family meeting.

Renata gets off the phone with Miranda. She tells Pamela that Miranda is furious with the news that Luciano knows about Mirandas pregnancy. Renata tells Pam that there is going to be a super fight when Miranda arrives. Pamela tells her not to worry, it was just an indiscretion of her mother, not she Pam who spilled the beans. Meanwhile Juan and Veronica talk over Sansons symptoms and how it is going for Sanson. Veronica wants to see Sanson.

Everyone is centered in the living room talking about Cesar. Juan has the floor, and argues that Cesar won’t kill anyone. Cesar is sick in the head but he is not a murderer. Cesar wants to make everyone afraid. Vicente wants everyone to be careful and to watch the main door of the house; make sure it is locked. Pamela agrees with Juan about how awful life is when you are worried someone is following you. Renata pipes up that this all sounds fine but let’s wait to hear what Miranda has to say.

Bertha gives Lucas little blue pills hidden in pieces of a hot dog. She talks to him as he happily eats up the treats. She tells him that she has no one else but him. They need to continue being free, like him. She cries as she continues. She calls the dog her son and that no one has been loyal to her like he has. No one is going to love the dog like her. Forgive her, he has to go with her, to be free. This is only going to hurt a little Lucas. She cries some more as she watches, but we don’t get to see thank gosh, as Lucas falls prey to the pills. She leans back on the Cesar’s couch as her cries settle down. She pours out the remaining pills into her hand. She looks at them but is interrupted by a sound of breaking glass. She gasps You! You!

We come back from the commercial break to see a boat being pushed down a river. It appears to be the Xochimilco Gardens and a typical boat that floats there. We see a man in black, a man pushing the boat with a large stick and someone sitting down. We see the boat tour through the area going somewhere but where?

Lucinao agrees to Miranda that he will not tell Al about the pregnancy. He warns Miranda that Alejandro won’t pardon her for this ever. Miranda, always argumentative, is not bothered by his comment and asks for what does she need Al’s pardon for anyway? Huh?! Huh?! Miranda goes on to say Alejandro doenst want to have children so why do I need his forgiveness? From behind we see Lilliana enter the mansion. She asks to speak to Miranda. The women stare at each other.

Francisco, Amparo and Roman talk over wine in a restaurant. I have to admit I did'nt pay much attention to this scene. Roman at one point calls Francisco his brother in law, cuñado. They laugh together, blah blah blah.

We see that it is Guapo who is dressed in black and Bertha is his hostage. She is the one sitting down with her hands tied and she is oddly still. At times we see Guapo holding a knife to her throat. The boat meanders down its path. This feels like a tourist video but the scenes turn from the river to a canal where the land on either side is decorated with baby dolls pinned and hung in the trees. It is the Island of Dolls (Isla de las Munecas). Eerie music plays. Baby dolls are everywhere; hung to trees, tied to tree trunks, or with their heads on stakes. The boats slams up into the land. The boat is named Bertha. Boats at the Xochimil Gardens are typically named after their owners wives, lovers or female loved ones. Guapo tells Bertha to quickly get off the boat. She is welcomed to his house. He tells her this is now her house Senora. This is what she deserves. He continues telling her, Darling this is how you will finish your days. We see him take his bad hand and hit it and stretch it out at the same time. The hand and arm work! He grabs her by the throat to kiss on her. Bertha looks horrified. Flash to scenes of more dolls in the trees and dolls heads on sticks.

Heridas de Amor Tuesday 01/09/07 - In which we have only four episodes left and this one is wasted in endless yacking!

Miranda tells a stricken Fabricio that according to the HPT yes, she is pregnant. Pamela and Renata are ecstatic. Faby dolefully congratulates Miranda but hey, it's a good excuse to give her a hug.

Fab says he's sorry for being a pest, but he would LOVE to be a daddy to her kid. She says, "You know you and Al are supposed to be friends, right?" Fab thinks he and Miranda deserve another chance and he vows Florencia would be happy if they took another whack at it. (???) Miranda is looking like she might actually buy this load, but when Fab asks her what she thinks she tells him she wants to be alone...but would he please leave baby Enrique with her?

Miranda prays to the virgin and hopes that she really is pregnant. She recalls Nati's words, that she will flower with a child. "How did Nati know before I knew? I have to tell Alejandro..." but then she has a green flashback of Al saying he doesn't want kids. Miranda decides that Al must never know. Much contractual sobbing ensues.

Marisol is pained that Lil just gave her a slap. Well-deserved if you ask me. Lil says she regrets what she said to Al, that she won't live her life only as somebody's lover, she will raise Sofia alone, no more lies. Marisol sarcastically claps her hands and asks where Lil suddenly found her dignity. Lil says it comes from love for her daughter, now get the hell out of here. Marisol tells Lil to go ahead and stay home alone ruminating on her stupid valor and ridiculous principles. After Marisol leaves Sofia comforts her mama and admits that she called Miranda because Marisol put her up to it.

Renata and Juan are in bed talking about Miranda's pregnancy when his phone rings. It's Sanson and he wants to meet with Juan the next day. Renata doesn't want Juan to go, Sanson is violent. Juan says he agreed because he's afraid Sanson will do something to Amparo and Francisco if he doesn't.

The next morning Al admits to Luciano that he never made it to Miranda's presentation. Even Luciano looks disgusted. Al says he is an imbecile, he was with Liliana. Luc says Miranda will never forgive him. Duh. Pamela even called him to say she was going to stay with Miranda because Miranda felt bad and didn't want to be alone. Al makes some lame statement about not wanting to leave Liliana in her current state. I truly wanted to hurl. He's such a wimp, I swear if Miranda gets him under her thumb he'll be there for life.

Miranda instructs Renata, Fabricio and Pamela to never tell Alejandro that she's pregnant. Not one word to him! She tells Pamela not to tell Luciano because everybody know guys can't keep a secret. (I may have paraphrased that last bit.)

Fernanda arrives after a hard night in the emergency room, lots of locos, drunks and wounds. Miranda tells her that she might be pregnant. Fernanda advises her not to rely on the HPT, she needs a real exam. Just then, (but too late to hear Miranda's pregnancy news I think) Bertha arrives. They are all impactados, especially Fab and Fern. Bertha announces to Fernanda, Miranda and Renata that she wants to speak to them.

Lil's doorbell rings. It's Marisol. Lil is mad and tells Mari that Sofia finked on her. Thanks to her (Mari) Alejandro now hates her (Lil). Mari says that Lil lets Miranda call all the shots and if SHE were after Al he would be in her bed by now. Obviously she thinks it's OK to brag about being a lying, husband-stealing, home-wrecking slut.

I can't tell if Marisol is serious or if she's sucking up to Lil. She lists all of Liliana's wonderful attributes and asks what kind of man is Alejandro? Instead of dining on Liliana's delicious, succulent meal (I swear she said that) with a big spoon, he uses a SMALL STICK (heh, heh, I swear she said that too) and doesn't even get it dirty (I swear!) before going away. Lil tells Marisol that she (Mari) would die of desire to have a man look at her the way Al looks at Miranda, admit it.

Marisol asks Lil to forgive her, she only did what she did for Lil's benefit...and also for hers because she would make out big time if her pal married a millionnaire, nudge nudge wink wink. "Sheesh, you're such a cynic," Lil says, "Sometimes I don't understand why we're friends."

Marisol makes a confusing (to me) speech about them meeting during a time of loneliness. They are friends because of, and in spite of, the good and the bad. Over and above all the bad they are friends and their friendship is the only thing they like to remember of the past. That's why they are friends. Lil sheds a tear. (If someone else has a better translation please jump in.) If you ask me it's a little late to be throwing in a mystery about two characters we can't wait to get rid of.

After that boring and annoying diversion we are back to Bertha and the San Llorente women. Renata tells Bertha to keep it brief. Bertha snaps back that it is to Renata that she has the least to say, now beat it. The nerve! Fern says it's OK for the girls to leave her alone with Bertha but Renata refuses, she's not going to do anything Bertha says.

Bertha tells them that before she fulfills her destiny she had to see them one last time, the perfect little family. Miranda calls her a cynic. Renata tells her the police are looking for her. They tell Bertha that she must pay for her actions. Bertha says she will pay...but in her own way. They glare at each other.

At casa Jimenez Juan waits for Sanson. Amparo wants to call the police but Juan says Sanson is a thief, not a killer. (Since when? Wasn't he going to kill both Raul and Roman at one point?) Sanson arrives and Amparo prays.

Sanson, crying, says Juan didn't kill his brother, it was he, Sanson, who caused his own brother's death. Sanson begs Juan's forgiveness for all the bad things he's done. After his brother died he had nobody so he blamed Juan, his brother's best friend. Still sobbing, he apologizes to Amparo and Fancisco, they were always kind and generous to him. They not only raised the three sons but also him and Carola. He should have kissed their hands but instead he turned bad. Can they ever forgive him? He turns to leave.

Juan stops him, calls him Elias (his real name I guess) and asks if he knows why he's sick. Elias/Sanson says he's going to die from AIDS. Juan says he will help him get into the same medical program as Veronica. They hug, all is forgiven.

Al tells Luciano that he's convinced that he was not born for this love business. If it doesn't confuse you then it wounds you and frankly he likes neither. What a baby. He says he's going to dedicate himself 100 percent to the business, get it up and running again, give it to Miranda and then go to the beach for a while.

Just then Luciano gets a call. "What?? (looks happy) Are you sure??" It is the Prime Minister of the Bank of Italy, calling to say that everything fell in Alejandro's favor. In just a few days his accounts will be freed and he'll be rich again. The government is about to extradite Bertha.

Back at the San Llorente house Bertha tells Fern, Miranda and Renata that nobody ever understood her reasons and now her death will be on their consciences. "I will die as I lived...alone," she says dramatically.

Fern says no, they're not taking any responsibility and Bertha had better leave. Miranda tells Bertha she forgives her. Renata says she forgives her and Florencia would forgive her too. Bertha has a green flashback of Flor's last words to her..."You're dirty and repugnant. You'll never have a man's love because the aroma of death is in your blood. For this I forgive you, yes I forgive you." Back in the present Bertha holds her hand to her head, looks horrified, then shakes it off. "I don't need your forgiveness!" she hisses to her sister and nieces. She grabs Lucas and leaves.

Bertha slowly descends the San Llorente steps with Lucas at her side. She has another green flashback, this time of El Guapo. She remembers telling him she never loses, never! He snickers and asks does she hear what she's saying? None of the San Llorente house is hers and now she is kicked out of it. She has none of Alejandro's inheritance, none. All that she possesses is virtual, in her head. In reality she has nothing. Back in the present Charo watches Bertha as she staggers away.

Juan gives Elias/Sanson a pep talk about his quality of life with AIDS. Juan holds Veronica up as an example. An example of what I'd like to know? I missed the scene where she bit Sanson but did she not deliberately infect him, another human being, with the AIDS virus? Isn't that against the law or something? Shouldn't she be in jail? Shouldn't Juan at least have given her some kind of responsibility lecture? Instead she's still walking around baring her ugly fangs. I still loathe her and yes Chris, we can still call her Slutty McSlutterson!

Well, during my rant I kind of missed the rest of the conversation but the Jimenezes are hugging Elias/Sanson and they're going to help him find a real job. For some reason the camera goes into slo-mo as he leaves the room.

Charo, in a dither, approaches Fern and Miranda. I think she says that she watched Bertha leave from afar and that drops of powerful poison were dripping off her. Bertha did much mischief to them, she hopes the police arrest her and never let her out of jail! Fern is rather shocked at Charo's outburst and reminds her that Bertha is her sister after all.

Andrea arrives to say goodbye, Luc and Pam are shipping her off to Canada with some friends. Andrea says she saw Bertha and her fearsome dog get into a taxi. Fern says she feels bad for Bertha because she's her sister.

Cesar searches for his cell phone in his shambles of an apartment. When he finally locates it he calls someone. He tells them they need to repay the money he loaned to them. NO no no, not to his bank account! He'll stop by and pick it up in cash. He pours a drink (of course) and says the time has come, it's each person for themselves, then takes a big swig. "I'm not going to stand by and do nothing. Miranda and Alejandro are in for a new surprise."

There is quite a crowd at the San Llorente house. Rebecca and Julio tell Fern that she has been very noble to Bertha. Julio, rubbing his chest to remind us he's about to die from a bad ticker, is sympathetic to Fern's complex feelings regarding her sister, such a thing is difficult to express. Nevertheless Santiago does his lengthy best to express his feelings on the subject. Andrea happily bids farewell, she gets to go off to Canada and leave this endless blathering behind.

Renata and Miranda discuss Bertha ad nauseum so allow me to summarize. Renata: "I feel bad for her." Miranda: "She'll get what she deserves. She killed a bunch of people."

Apparently Liliana explained to Sofia off-camera why Al can't be her daddy. Miraculously Sofia seems satisfied with the explanation, whatever it was. We never hear it. Couldn't Lil have taken this route weeks ago thereby saving her daughter and herself (not to mention Al, Miranda and us) hours of anguish and torment? Sofia happily runs off to her room. Lil tells Marisol that Al had a point, maybe she should go looking for Sofia's father. Marisol thinks it's a bad idea but Lil says he has a right to know he has a daughter.

Liliana says now the only thing left to plan is what is she going to say to Miranda and when will she say it? Marisol is surprised, "You're still going to talk with her?" Lil is all "Hell yes I'm going to talk to her. That score will be settled because I'm going to settle it."

That was about the lamest "cliff-hanger" I could possibly have imagined. Where are the guns, the kidnappings, the escapes, the divine retribution? Will our hunger for justice be sated? Can these heridas de amor possibly be healed by Friday?

Heridas de Amor 01/08/07

Luciano informs Alejandro that the authorities now have bulletins out for both Cesar and Bertha and so they will not be able to leave the country. Alejandro is about to leave the office to catch up to Miranda and join her for the chocolate exhibition that is just about to begin when Liliana, angry as heck that she has just been given a severance check, demands to speak to him alone. He asks her to be brief because he has an event to get to. She complains that she left her last position specifically at his request and now she gets a check and the cold shoulder. She demands he sit down and listen to her and darned if she hasn't earned the right to take her damned time about it. He sits down, guiltily, and they take their time discussing Sofia's emotional needs as well as her own.

Miranda is being helped and supported by Fabricio, Pamela, Gabino, Arcadia and Nati. Fabricio points out a so-called inspector who is complaining that her chocolates don't meet his association's standards. He threatens her with closing her show down. She calls the "inspector's" bluff and says there is no such association; he only wants her recipes and he better leave now because she is calling security. She kicks him out.

Renata and Juan help celebrate with the rest of the Jiminez family during the going away party for Raul and Carola.

Cesar the Sleezer admits to Lucas that his life has gone to the dogs, just like Bertha's, but if Miranda and Alejandro think they are going to live a fairytale they have another think coming. He'll make sure their life is hell. In comes Bertha and he warns her never to leave him to babysit a dog again. He's depressed. He tells her that Luis Alberto is taking the fortune he made and creating charitable foundations for poor beggars to enjoy. Bertha tells him to cheer up because, since Miranda is not pregnant, in one month all Alfredo's money will be hers, and of course, then his too.

The exhibition seems to be a success and Miranda is toasting everyone and vice versa. HEr company receives numerous orders and offers. Someone suggests she go national. Miranda is thrilled, but the big disappointment is that Alejandro has not arrived. She is waiting for Alejandro before she begins the formal presentation but he does not appear.

Fabricio tells Pamela in confidence that he is determined to ask Miranda for a second chance. Pamela says she's still married and it does not seem proper and tells him she is against it.

Back at the office, Alejandro is telling Liliana that he is in love with his wife. Instead of saying good bye, Alejandro then takes Liliana home and continues the discussion. Although Liliiana begs him to continue to help her with Sofia's emotional needs and to pretend there is something more between them, he refuses saying he doesn't feel it benefits anybody, least- wise her daughter, to continue with a relationship based on lies. He tells her he does not want to get further wrapped up in anything like that. Then she tells him she is prepared to do anything to keep him because she is so hopelessly in love with him. She is happy simply to be his lover.

Back at the exhibition Miranda is extremely hurt that Alejandro has not arrived. Eventually Miranda confides in Pamela that she is certain her husband is still with Liliana. She makes a decision to leave him. Fabricio realizes Alejandro has hurt Miranda again and takes advantage of the situation to express his feelings for her. He takes her by surprise, kisses her and confesses that he wants to start up their relationship again. She tells him she loves him, but not that way. He answers they'll talk later about it and leaves.

Miranda eventually begins the presentation without Alejandro, who just cannot break himself away from Liliana. (His ego won't let him.) He admits to her that if he were free he would never let her go. She is both too beautiful and intelligent.

Miranda is angry and jealous and despondently tells Pamela what Fabricio did. She says she possibly will give Fabricio another chance. Alejandro has hurt her again, so she will hurt him. Pamela tells her she is foolish to act like this.

At Cesar's apartment Bertha confides in Lucas that El Guapo was right. She doesn't have a thing of her own, only Lucas. Cesar comes out of his room and says they're are turning into crazy fools who soliloquize to themselves because nobody but their dogs will listen. Suddenly Bertha remembers the account she put in Santiago's name decades ago and says he knows it's hers and will have to return it all to her. Cesar tells her not to expect it. Right then there is a faint knock on the door and Cesar suspects the cops. Bertha tells him the cops don't knock like that. It turns out to be Sanson, coughing and sweating with his face covered in sores now. He asks Cesar for his last month's salary and gas reimbursements. Cesars tells him he doesn't have it and again calls him names. Finally Bertha opens up her own wallet, takes money out, and hands it to him telling him they won't need him any longer and not to bother coming around there again. Sanson takes it at first. Then, apparently figuring he has nothing to lose, he begins to insult the two of them. He pities them and tells Cesar he got just what he deserved. He then tells them that his is a physical infection, but theirs is one of the soul and has rotted them both from the inside. He throws the bills in their faces and walks out the door. Bertha and Cesar scramble to pick up the bills.

Alejandro and Liliana are still involved in a heavy discussion. He ask Liliana who Sofia's father is and why she just doesn't let the girl know who he is. She says he was a great man but he still doesn't know Sofia even exists and she is not about to tell him. He says it is silly to look for another father for her daughter when she already has one and that it isn't right for her to continue this way. Finally he remembers again that he has to go meet Miranda, and that he has already taken far too long there. Liliana says good-bye and he leaves for the exhibition at the hotel.

Miranda is depressed and disappointed that Alejandro never made it to the exhibition but Nati assures her that tonight she will get her just reward.

Marisol gets snide and argues with Liliana. She tells Liliana that she handled the whole thing wrong with Alejandro and her daughter is going to end up as insignificant as Liliana. Liliana said she went as far as her principles and morals would allow her. Marisol says that is exactly what her problem is and she had better not teach the same to Sofia. Liliana finally has had enough of Marisol's attitude and hauls off and slaps her. She tells Marisol she will never forgive her for all the rotten advice and having convinced her to forget those principles.

Nati is sitting alone in the empty exhibition hall when Alejandro finally shows up. He sees her and asks what he needs to do get his wife back. She answers he should follow the track of tears, but not to speak. He must listen and understand she will complain in silence. He must steal her soul and her heart and then never forget it.

Back at the mansion that night Pamela is advising Miranda not to do anything foolish by using Fabricio to get back at Alejandro. Miranda comes out of the bathroom and gets dizzy and sick to her stomach. She tells Pamela that this has been happening quite a few times recently to her. Pamela smiles and says she wonders if Miranda could be pregnant. Miranda says it couldn't be because her mother said she would need fertility treatments. Then Renata comes in and apologizes for missing the exhibition, but they got tied up in traffic after finally seeing off Raul at the airport. Miranda asks her sister how she finally figured out she was pregnant, what were the symptoms. Renata tells her and says she found out at first by taking a home pregnancy kit, but since Juan is there, he could examine her instead. Then Renata runs into his study and searches a couple of cabinets looking for another home pregnancy kit. When she finds it she explains what she needs it for. He doesn't believe Miranda could possibly be pregnant because of her need for treatments and her irregular periods.

Impatiently Pamela and Renata wait for Miranda to get the results from the kit. Fabricio enters the bedroom just as the two are chatting about Miranda possibly being pregnant. Miranda comes out of the bathroom and Fabricio asks her she is pregnant. She simply stares back at him in silence.

According to my local TV listings, the cast of Heridas de Amor will be on the Cristina show at 9:00 Central Time on Univision. Duelo de Pasiones debuts that night at 6:00 CT as well. With Univision being a national network, I think it's safe to say that 10:00 p.m. Eastern/Pacific will be when that Cristina episode airs.

Heridas January 5

Thank you Susanlynn for pointing out my mistake on the date! It is JANUARY 5. Duh.

Cesar throwing his sword down the hall to stick into the wall was really cool. The way they showed it with the dramatic effect, it had to be on purpose I think. I wonder how many tries it took. Regardless, pretty cool. Cesar proceeds to try and drink an entire decanter of booze in one gulp, then try not to hurl. Though we all know he’s ok with barfing in his living room. What is it with everyone having all their booze in glass bottles anyway, do you actually know anyone who does that? I think I’ll take my booze out of their perfectly good bottles and put them in label-less bottles instead, give a little more risk to my drinking.

Fab, holding the baby, asks Julio how he feels. Something about now not being a good time for the operation. Fab says he doesn’t know how to call Julio to his son, he wants to call him papa, not Julio. Julio is touched and pleased. Fab says the baby will call him grandpa. Julio says he always doubted Cesar a bit. (Then why did you get involved in all this, genius?) He tells Fab that he should stay far away from Cesar and that he (Fab) is a good noble man and son. Fab hands the baby to Julio and says “go to your grandpa, and love him, because he is my dad.” Ok we get it. Very touching. Let’s move on.

At the hacienda, Nati shuffles in with the Gabinos in tow. Nati says Gonz is already present. They hear some noises, mrs. Gabino says it sounds “like fear.”

Vicente and Luciano finish up with whatever it is they are doing that will put Cesar in jail. They talk about Babe Lawyer and if she likes Al or not, like a couple of teenagers.

Gabino wants to shut the door to keep the wind out, Nati says keep it open, before Gabino can say “close it” again, Bertha walks in. Bertha says it can be easy or tough, Nati, you decide. Nati says no, Bertha, YOU will be the one to make that decision.

Amparito is telling Roman how sad she will be when Raul and Carola leave. She’s happy for them but she will miss Raul terribly. They plan the going away party for tomorrow, Roman promises to help and Amparito likes the idea. He gets a call from Luis Alberto. LA and Nuria have apparently started their trip to Brazil, Roman wishes them well. I agree, though, shouldn’t some of that money those two idiots are running away with be returned to SLI, or even some to Mophead (even though I hate her) since some of it was stolen from her? Why doesn’t anybody speak up for their cut? Al was right there in their room with them, he knows what’s going on, he should have straightened that out. I guess he’s too busy being ‘noble’ and selling all of his own stuff to help the others. Bah.

Bertha pours herself a drink to try and be melodramatic. She says “Gabino, you are the one who hurt Chocolate, right?” He says yes, on Bertha’s orders. Bertha says he needs a better answer than that. She tells Nati that she wants to end this once and for all, give me the gun! Nati says “I don’t have it, Miranda does!” Bertha puts her hand to her forehead, a momentary lapse of composure. She says to herself, but loud enough for people in the hall to hear apparently, “how long am I going to have to wait for those imbeciles?” Miranda’s voice says “you don’t have to wait any longer, here we are” as she, Al, and Fern walk into the room. This is the part in a Scooby-Doo episode where somebody gets their face torn off to reveal it was just a mask. Bertha tries to act cool and sip her drink, saying “ok, let’s get started.” She tells the Gabinos and Nati to leave, but Miranda says that Nati should stay. Gabino says they’ll wait outside if she needs anything. Bertha says that Gabino has something very very important to confess. Gabino looks like what I imagine I looked like when I was a kid and got busted stealing a candy bar. The Gabinos step outside. Miranda walks to the desk and takes the gun out of the desk drawer, it was there the whole time! Ah Nati, you clever witch. Miranda wants to know what went on ‘that night’ and with ‘this gun’, because everything since has its origin in ‘that night.’ Bertha gets bugeyed. She says the gun was the end, not the beginning, things started way before that. “Right Fern? When you, Sophia, and I were all in love with Alfredo Luque!” I have always had a hard time believing that Alfredo was sooo great for all these ladies to be in love with him, since Alfredo is played by Arturo Peniche, who was the glorious fop Antonio de Guzman in Alborada. There was nothing manly about him. He flipped his hair around like Alicia on La Fea. So when I hear the name Alfredo Luque, I think of sexually ambiguous Antonio. Not a ladies man by any stretch. Anyone else have this problem?

Cesar stares out the window and smokes. He swears things won’t end this way. Nobody gets over on Cesar Beltran like this. This is not how I roll. I ain’t gonna go out like that. His phone rings, it’s Roman on the other end. Cesar is pleased to hear from him, he wants to hire him. “To find LA and Nuria, riiiiiiight?” Cesar turns ugly fast. “What do you know about them, infeliz?” Roman tells Cesar that they left the country. Roman says he just called to tell him that God will thank him for his help. With the money LA and Nuria took, they are going to help orphans. They will name the orphanages after him. Something like that. Cesar is impactado. People will bless the name of Cesar Beltran, Roman continues. Cesar hangs up and mumbles to himself. He can’t believe his money is in a stranger’s hands. He tries to guzzle a whole bottle of booze again. I think LA/Nuria’s plan is stupid, all Cesar has to do (providing he’s still alive) is find where things are being done in his name and he’ll find those two dimwits.

Bertha continues. She told Sophia (Al’s mom) that Fern and Alfredo were lovers. This and bad medication brought on Sophia’s death. Santiago was off studying for the priesthood, or in the priesthood, or something else sufficiently priestly, that Sophia never saw him again before her death. Al is furious at the flippant talk about his mother’s death and lets Bertha know about it, grabbing her by the neck. Bertha gets off on it. Perhaps she and Lasagna could have gone to some of the same underground fetish clubs in a different situation? Anyway, Miranda gets Al to let Bertha loose. Fern says well, then what happened next? Bertha says she thought she had a clear road at Alfredo, but Alfredo told her no, he was in love with Fernanda. He had spoken with Sophia before she died and Sophia gave her blessing for Alfredo to go back to Fern and start up again. Fern is impactada. This is why she told lies to their father and had her married off to Gonzalo? Bertha says yes. After Gonz and Fern married, she started to see Alfredo but it was always the same, he talked about Fernanda. Finally she got the message and decided to stay away from him forever. It was earlier ‘that night’, I think she said. She acts like her story is over. Nati speaks up and calls her serpent tongue, and what about the part where Bertha told Alfredo that Fern wanted to run away with him? Bertha says, “how do you know that?” Nati just says to tell the story. Bertha has a green flashback of telling Alfredo that Fern wants to run away with him, if she doesn’t want to go, convince her! Back in the present, Bertha laments how she loved Alfredo since the first day. Bertha says something about them both being men of just one woman, but I’m not sure to whom she was referring. Alfredo for one, the other Alejandro? Or Gonzalo? I couldn’t quite figure it out.

After the commercial, the story continues. Nati says Bertha speaks true, she (Nati) and Tomasa heard the whole thing outside the library door. Fern says “who were you trying to shoot, Bertha?” Bertha says “You, Fern. I loved Alfredo with all my soul, but with you in the middle there was nothing I could do. When I came in the room, Alfredo was on the floor. Gonzalo didn’t kill him, it was me.” Throughout this portion, we are seeing green flashbacks to ‘that night’ that illustrate the action. In the flashback, she thinks “I’m so sorry Alfredo, I was going to shoot Fern and then Gonzalo, not you!” Back to the present – Bertha sniffles and refills her drink, then guzzles it down. She says that was the only time she ever asked anyone for forgiveness, she thought he was dead! That’s why she ran away, if she knew he was alive, she would have taken care of him! Sniffle sniffle. Al steps forward and says he doesn’t know if she deserves prison or the nuthouse, she’s bad in the head! Bertha says she had it all perfectly planned out. She didn’t permit Gonzalo near the body to see the shot was in the back, since Alfredo and Gonzalo had been face to face. Fern says, then why did Gonz run me out of the hacienda? Bertha says she had him do it. She told Gonz that if Fern was close to the girls she might kill them. At this, Miranda tries to attack Bertha. She says she’s going to take her out but Al holds her back. We are treated to a full 30 seconds of dramatic stares from each person.

Roman and Amparito are laughing and planning the partyand Francisco comes in, surprised to see Roman! He says he’ll be around more regularly, if Amparito wants and Francisco permits. Francisco says give me a break already, my sister likes you, jeez. He says “there’s just one thing I want from you sister,…” “what?” “coffee.” Ha ha ha laughs, she goes to get coffee. Francisco gives Roman a hard time about not being stable. They talk on about some stuff that doesn’t quite make sense. In the end he says it’s all fine for the two of them. Lots of hugs.

Bertha says now you know everything, I killed Tomasa, but not Gonzalo. Miranda points out that she was involved with that even if she weren’t the actual killer, just as much an accomplice as Cesar. “depends on what mirror you look at” Bertha says. What? Then she says “I did it all for love, you all wouldn’t understand.” She goes on some more about love, not having love, how they all love, “like me and you Miranda. And you Al. And you sister.” She says it’s the sweetest love. None of this made any more sense watching it than what it sounds like now reading it, sorry everyone. Surprisingly, though, the term “heridas de amor” was NOT said in all this. Al says she can’t leave, he’s going to call the authorities. Miranda says, basically, “yeah.” Bertha grabs the gun and holds it under her chin. “Like you said Miranda, the eyes of God will never see me. Bertha de Aragon will be free! Not in some jail and much less not in a nuthouse!” She starts running away with the gun still held up to her own chin. Everyone starts yelling to put down the gun. Fern says let the others go, it’s between us. Bertha says it’s all different now. Nati says to let her do it. Go Nati! Al says no, she has to face justice. Bertha says yes, she has a date with her destiny. She leaves and everyone just lets her walk out. Al starts yelling that they can’t just let her leave! Nati says they have to let her do whatever she’s going to do. The Gabinos come running in saying that a man was with Bertha when she left. Not possible, she left alone! Gabino says no, someone was with her. Nati says, don’t ask!

The next morning, I guess, Al is drinking coffee and Miranda comes in to talk to him. They discuss their lack of sleep for Al, Miranda slept like a baby now that she knows everything. Al is all worked up but Miranda, making sense for the first time ever, says they have the lawsuits all started against Bertha and Cesar already, it’s all in the works, so whatever. Fern comes in and is ready to go back to Mexico too. She says she feels free. Miranda also feels better now that the secrets have all come out. Al admits that they are right. Fern says she finally saw who Bertha really is, she doesn’t need jail, she needs to be locked up with herself. Miranda says the worst part is that Bertha never loved anybody, she just like to make trouble. I think that’s what she said. As the are leaving, Al says “aren’t you going to invite me to your chocolate thing?” Miranda says she would never forgive him for not being there at something so important to her. Al leaves, Miranda satisfies her contractual obligation to cry. She looks at Gonz’s old desk and cries some more. “Rest in peace, papa.” She pours a few drops of her bottle of Olde English out for him before slamming back the rest…. Oops not really, she just cries some more and finally leaves the room. Wait she pauses at the door…ok NOW she left, finally. The door closes behind her, seemingly on its own. The ghost of Gonzalo!

Back to Luciano and Vicente. Again, all the papers are in order. Vicente is a little worried, one of his contacts told him that one of the proofs against Cesar might also implicate Julio, but he doesn’t want to raise a false alarm and give Julio his fifteenth heart attack. They decide to talk to Fab and see what they can do. Al arrives and tells them that Bertha confessed to everything. She got away, he doesn’t want to talk about it. They tell him about Julio and talking to Fab. Al gets on the phone.

Renata and Slutty are helping Amparito set for dinner. They are talking about how great Spain is. She hopes Raul finds a woman, Slutty says don’t you think he and Carola, you know? Hey, can I still call her Slutty now that she’s all rehabilitated? I think I will continue to do so. Juan, Francisco and Roman arrive with food, they all talk at the same time and eat. Carola and Raul arrive, hugs all around. Carola is wearing some really strange furry shoulder pads thing. She has on very flattering jeans and some short tight tank top, but then furry shoulder pads that belong on an ancient Viking. What the hell. Joel sends his best, he couldn’t make it. More hugs. They sing a bon voyage song.

Al and Vicente make plans to talk to Fab. Luciano gets off the phone and says the airports and everything else have been alerted, Bertha and Cesar won’t get out of the country. Al says great, he has just enough time to get to Miranda’s chocolate event. Oh Vicente, did you make out a check to Babe Lawyer? Yes Al, it’s on her desk. Speak of the devil, Babe Lawyer walks in. Looking good in a red suit today, waaaaaaay better than that disaster of a dress I remember from last week. She asks to speak alone with Al. She starts all pissy saying she has a lot to talk to him about, he says “sorry, keep it short, I have somewhere to be.” She looks like she can’t believe he just said that! Like, oh my god! She says she came in, all her files on Gonzalo are gone, then she overhears about him leaving her a check, what the hell is going on? She sits down and demands an explanation. Hello you dumb hottie, you’re getting dumped. Al looks like he’d rather be anywhere else but here, which is true. Babe Lawyer fights back her tears.

This was about the talkiest episode ever. I can only imagine what next week’s finale will have. Maybe Duelo will have lots of car chases and fights and stuff.

After he leaves there's a knock on the door believing it's Alejandro. LA answers the door to find Cesar. Cesar knocks him out and attacks Nuria.

Pamela tells Miranda to fight for Alejandro. She tells her he's never been hers and explains what's been more important to him than she has been, like his revenge, his business and now Sofia, Pamela tells her she also has put other priorities ahead of her husband including Enrique. She agrees but says she's going to let Alejandro be with Liliana for Sofia's sake. Pamela reminds her that her parents did the same thing and when they finally realized their mistake it was too late.

Luis Alberto awakens and defends Nuria but Cesar knocks him out again after he tells him to return his money or he will kill him. Alejandro arrives at that moment and he and Cesar get in a fist fight. Cesar punches Ale in the stomach, but he comes back with an upper cut and they roll on the bed and continue to fight. Raul gets ready for his trip to Spain as Amparo wishes him well as Carola tells them she also got a scholarship. Alejandro tells Cesar that he has all the proof he needs to send him to jail that Gonzalo found. He tells him he's lying and doesn't have any proof as he tells Nuria and LA to always look behind their back because he will be there when he least expects it. Nuria tells Alejandro she feels bad for what she did to him and he tells her to tell him everything he know.

Miranda calls him and tells him to tell Sofia and Liliana he has to go becasue he has family matters to attend and he tells her he's with Nuria and Luis Alberto and tells him of his fight with Cesar. Miranda asks him if he is ok. and he says yes and for her and Fernanda to go to the hacienda without him, Miranda says no, she won't go without him and she will go where he is, he gives her the hotel address.

Renata looks for Amparo and tells Raul she needs to talk to Carola. Carola and Renata get into an argument Renata tells her they need to talk and Carola says she has noyhing to say to her, they argue over Juan and slap each other.

Luis Alberto gives Alejandro all the proof he has on Cesar. Miranda and Alejandro learn they were both Cesar's accomplices. Alejandro asks LA about Lizania and he tells him that she liked for Cesar to hit her and tells him exactly what Cesar told him about her death. He says if he would have knows he wouldn't have let him go and tells Miranda he can't go to the ranch because he doesn't know what he'll do if he sees Berta. Carola and Renata continue to argue when Juan arrives. Nuria tells Alejandro what happened aftr Lizania died as LA tells that Cesar threatened him. She tells them about finding the necklace and asks them for fogiveness. Fernanda tells Rebeca that Cesar doesn't deserve she shed any tears for him as Julio agrees. Charo puts her two cents in and says Cesar is a dirty pig. Miranda calls Fernanda and she learns about Nuria and Luis Alberto. Santiago is shocked to learn Cesar found the couple.

Liliana looks for Alejandro and tells Luciano and Vicente she's not going to represent Gonzalo's case anymore. Alejandro offers Luis Alberto and Nuria protection as they wonder what to do next. LA tells her they're leaving town. Santiago learns his name has been cleared and that he can help many families with the account Berta opened in his name. LA informs Santiago that he and Nuria are leaving town.

Rebeca cries as she learns Cesar almost killed the couple. Julio blames Rebeca and Fernanda agrees to a point saying Cesar is an adult and that she can't be blamed for everything. Juan tells Renata in front of Carola that to him it doesn't matter if the baby is his or not that the baby is hers and that's all he cares about. Carolawishes them well and tells her to make Juan happy or else. She tells her to leave as Juan tells her to stop fighting with her. Renata calls Miranda and tells her about the e-mail that Fabricio received. Juan then tells her that Florencia's medications were made of sugar. Renata cries and says her father spent a fortune on her sister's health and Berta was giving her candy. Fabricio tells his family about the e-mail.

Vicente and Luciano inform Miranda and Alejandro that Liliana isn't going to represent Gonzalo's case. Liliana arrives and tells Alejandro she needs to talk to him but she tells him he's leaving town. She insists but he tells her they'll talk when he returns. Miranda tells him she no longer wants to see her in her office. Cesar arrives home to find Lucas and a note from Berta telling him to take care of her dog. He locks the dog in a room and goes on a rampage breaking everything in his apartment knowing he's been put in a corner and the end is near.
I was barely watching this last scene, thinking he was going to beat up poor Lucas!!

What is with these women that although they know the men the've fallen in love with are married and in love with someone else, they insist in pursuing them!!!

The end is almost here!!

Heridas de Amor - Wed January 3, 2007

Rebecca doesn’t fall upon hearing that Bertha and Cesar were accomplices in Fabricio’s kidnapping. Instead she sits down acting like she too is having heart problems. She moans as if she is in immense pain while Julio pants from his real heart problems.

Pamela tells Miranda she doesn't agree with what Miranda plans to do; to go to the mini-Olympia to see if Alejandro will go. Miranda argues that it is for the best, she doesn’t want to have doubts about Alejandro. Miranda wishes that she could be the type of woman who acts in fits without thinking of anything, letting herself be carried away with emotion but she can’t. Miranda goes on to explain she is the type of person who has to have her emotions and thoughts clear. Pamela is impressed and she wishes she could be once again like Miranda. After this watershed moment Pamela decides she will accompany Miranda to the mini-Olympia.

Fabricio comes into Miranda’s room and asks her to watch the baby. Miranda is ecstatic to do so and cradles the baby in her arms. As Miranda talks to the baby Pamela watches on. Pamela watches happily at first but she changes her expression when Miranda starts to talk about her pain of not being able to conceive. Miranda begs Fab to never separate her from the child Enrique, the pain would kill her. Fab calls her his love and that will never happen. The child is hers also. God took the boys mother and he Fab wont be one to take Miranda away. Fab tells her again that the boy is hers as he kisses her on the forehead and hugs the three of them together. Pamela, looking at them from behind, gives a look of disbelief and leaves the room.

Charo sits outside on the back steps of the mansion talking to God. She asks God what she should do. Should she leave the San Llorentes and get a job far far away? She probably should have had this conversation while she was in the hospital but here she is debating her situation. Pamela walks up during Charo’s moment of need and hits pay dirt. Charo tells Pamela that Senorita Bertha and the man who killed Don Gonzalo were the ones who shot her. They are accomplices she confirms to Pamela. Charo begs Pamela to not tell anyone or they will kill her.

Fernanda walks through the kitchen with a baby bottle. Fabricio enters and thanks Fern for all her help with the baby. Fern tells him there is nothing to thank. If she couldn’t be a good mother to Miranda and Florencia she can at least be a good grandmother for Enrique. Fern takes the opportunity to ask Fab why he doesn’t call Julio papa. Fab tells her he cant, it wouldn’t be from his heart. Gonzalo took his fathers place after his father died. Thanks to Gonzalo he turned into the man he is, or isn’t, today. Fern doesn’t want Fab blaming Julio for not being more like a father because Julio didn’t even know he was Fab’s father. She discloses that Julio doesn’t have much more time to live, even with a pacemaker. Fab seems concerned by this revelation. He tells Fern he doesn’t want this news to be told to Julio and his mother. He doesn’t want his mother to be distressed and he doesn’t want Julio to think he is getting closer to him because of compassion. After Fern hears that she has gotten her way, she tells Fab that Florencia and Gonzalo would be proud of him for being a good son and for turning into an excellent father. I think she should have told Fab that he is a horrible father for dumping his kid with every woman in the house and for trying to score with his sister in law. She doesn't. Fab thinks they (G & F) would be proud of him for taking on his responsibilities, he is proud of himself.

Luciano, in Als/Gonzalos office, talks to Al on the phone. As soon as they hang up Vicente and Roman enter the office. Vicente tells Luciano that he got all, absolutely all, of the proof against Cesar. They have him in their hands. Roman tells how Luis Alberto and Nuria have been converted into witnesses. Roman had to work on it but they have agreed to be witnesses. First though, LA and Nuria want to talk with Alejandro alone. Vicente interrupts to say that those two will be in jail very soon. (Two who? N&LA or C&B?) . Roman asks if they are serious. Luciano says yes and questions if Roman has doubts. The men stare at each other.

Juan reviews Raul’s plans to go to Spain and deems that the curriculum looks good. He congratulates Raul and starts to fiddle with the school papers trying to shove them into a large manila envelope. Raul asks Juan a question about Joel and Juan answers him saying Joel? He has forgotten that he has a telenovela brother! Juan catches himself seconds afterward and yells Joooooeel! in recognition as he hits Raul with the envelope. Juan tries to cover his bases some more by explaining how Joel has always been an independent brother, etc…. Raul changes the subject and tells Juan that Carol is going to go with him. Raul explains that he has nothing going on with Carola but this would be a good opportunity for her to get ahead in life, meet more people and above all put land in between her and Juan. The brothers chuckle over the plan.

Luciano can’t believe whoever made projections and analysis of future markets. Vicente tells him it was Alejandro. He has learned to do most everything that Luciano does while Luciano has been away. Roman enters carrying boxes of documents he compiled working for Gonzalo and Cesar. He tells the men he can also testify if they want. Vicente thinks this will complicate things because it signifies he was an accomplice too. Roman argues that yes he was, but he wants to take responsibility for his actions. The information he provided Gonzalo and Cesar hurt a lot of people, especially the Dr. Fernanda. Luciano wants Lilliana to look over the documents and tell them how to organize everything; once again employing the services of the good lawyer. The men all agree Alejandro will be surprised, he deserves their loyalty.

Lilliana’s evil friend scolds her for being stupid about Al. Alejandro surprisingly shows up at Lilly’s house to tell her that he has been thinking over things… He realized that their problems are separate from those of Sofia. Please tell Sofia he will be there for her tomorrow. He turns and leaves and his footsteps resound loudly on the poorly constructed set. Lilliana looks relieved while evil friend is giddy.

Pamela goes to Miranda’s room where Miranda is lying on the bed with the baby. Pamela tells her what Charo told her. Bertha wanted the baby, Charo prevented her and so Guapo shot her. As they talk Miranda’s cell phone starts to ring. Miranda jokes to Pamela that it is none other than the devil, Bertha. She tells Bertha “Until I report you what do you want?” Bertha tells her she is at the hacienda and wants Miranda to meet her tomorrow. Miranda’s face freezes.

Miranda tells Pamela that she didn’t have enough time to tell Bertha anything. She worries about Bertha being in the hacienda and quickly calls Gabino to warn him. He hasn’t seen Bertha so Miranda tells him to leave the hacienda and go to the Hacienda of the Light so Bertha can’t find him. She asks him to tell Canito to close up the big house, and only give Bertha access to her room if she shows up. Miranda tells Pamela that Bertha is trying to scare everyone like she is a terrorist, hit and run. Bertha is either crazy or a cynic or both. The women agree that Berthas mental state is not good. (Side Note: Ive been wondering why they keep using the word cynic to describe someone. I have always taken the word to mean skeptic. Upon referencing a dictionary it looks like cynic also means someone who is sort of narcissitic. Or what do y'all think they mean when using this word?)

Cesar questions Bertha on why she lied to Miranda. Bertha gloats that she knows Miranda is making all sorts of calls to warn people. This makes her happy. Sanson rings the doorbell several times before Cesar gets up to answer. Sanson enters coughing to tell Cesar that some cops are watching the apartment building and have been doing so all day. Bertha touches her head with wide eyes as she listens. She is obviously shocked. Cesar meanwhile has a new hair cut and a particularly ugly half beard going on, part soul patch part Fu Man Chu. He smokes throughout his conversation with Sanson never minding Sansons’ coughs. He questions Sanson why this news is important. Sanson doesn’t know but the cops are taking pictures of who leaves and who enters. Cesar argues that the doorman would have told him if they were watching him. Sanson admits he is worried and thinks he shouldn’t come to see his patron (boss) anymore. Cesar snorts and agrees, he doesn’t want Sanson there anyway. Cesar tells Sanson he wants him to get a health checkup. Sansons bald head is sweating and he hasn’t stopped coughing since he came in but he acts confused when Cesar suggests he see a doctor. He assures Cesar that he doesn't have anything, just a little Ebola maybe but nothing else. Cesar questions if Sanson discovered Luis Alberto’s car. Yes Sanson has found Luis Alberto’s car at a hotel. He hands Cesar a piece of paper. Cesar pockets it and brings out his wallet giving Sanson money. He tells Sanson to go and he will look for him when he needs him.

Cesar admits to Bertha, after Sanson has left, that he doesn’t like what he has just heard. He doesn't know if he should go to the hacienda with Bertha or leave the country. Bertha rubs her head claiming it must have been a lie. Cesar semi agrees but he states he is going to take his precautions anyway. He asks if Bertha wants to stay in the apartment and she panics lunging for him in a fit of need. She whines for him not to leave. Cesar pushes her back and tells her she can bring her damn animal and they will stay in contact. Bertha comes in for a hug again and Cesar looses his temper. He pushes her away harder this time, snarling his teeth. He yells that he told her he would never touch her again after she got with Quasimodo; she repulses him. He goes on with fury about his disgust and hate. Her eyes get wide and she looks at him pathetically. He continues his tirade saying how he has a disgusting image in his mind of her that just the thought of it makes him want to vomit. She looks like she has never heard such words directed at her before. Her eyes droop with sadness and her jaw slacks open showing her shock. She looks defeated.

Fabricio enters Miranda’s bedroom asking where she is going. She is getting ready to go to the mini-Olympia. Charo enters at about the same time and Miranda tells her to get her things ready. They need to move her to a safer place. Fab whines when is this going to end Miranda?

Quick tourist scene of Villa Hermosa - Tabasco from a plane. Naty enters the office in the hacienda with a bundle in her arms. She sets the bundle down on Miranda’s desk and unwraps it. It’s THE gun. Naty talks to Gonzalo telling him that here is the gun … Bertha’s gun. The gun that Bertha used that night, and the same she is going to use to today. This is how it is written Patron and this is how it will be. She stumbles to the desk and puts the gun bundle in a drawer. Naty turns one last time to tell Gonzalo not to be despair. He will leave for the light soon. She turns back around and leaves before Gabino comes to look for her.

Everyone is yelling Sofia’s name at the mini-Olympia. Evil friend is excited to see that Alejandro has arrived. She tries to prove some point to Lilly about Al but Lilly rebuffs her. Soon Alejandro is seen winning a race against other fathers. He goes back after passing the finsih line to get Sofia and carry her high on his arm. Evil friend, who I have conveniently forgotten her name, tells Lilly she has never seen Sofia smile so big. She is really laying it on thick. Pamela and Miranda walk up to the festivities, and hesitate before joining the crowd. They see Alejandro. Pamela thinks this is enough but Miranda has to watch more. She has to see Alejandro in more painful episodes with a daughter she can never have. She can’t stop herself! Tracking Al has become an obsession for her. (OK those are my words not Miranda's.)

Nuria pleads to Father Santiago that she is scared. She doesn't know why but she just feels like something bad is going to happen! LA tries to talk her out of her bad premonitions. Santiago agrees that no one could find them.

As the women sit in the grandstand watching the events, Evil Friend Marisol tells Lilly to get with Alejandro and Sofia as soon as the celebration stops. Lilly rebuffs her again telling her she is crazy! Lilly is all strength in combating Marisol’s evil plans until she spots Miranda in the stands. (Quite a stadium for little kids, BTW.) Lilly freaks. She tells Marisol to check Miranda out as Pamela watches them. Lilly tells Marisol if Marisol had something to do with this she will kill her. She gets up and goes to sit by Miranda and Pamela. At first she is nice and I have hope she will come clean and find a truce, but no such luck. Miranda is her usual mean self telling Lilly she is there because Sofia called her; surely Lilly gave her Miranda’s number. Lilly denies it but Miranda won’t listen. Miranda tells Lilly that regardless they need to talk. Soon the mini-Olympia games that have been going on in the background are over. Alejandro has won the sack race and he throws Sofia in the air. The announcer tells the crowd its Sofia and her Papa! The crowd cheers for Sofia. Lilly tells Miranda that she would do whatever for her daughter. Miranda answers back that she knows. The announcer wants the mothers of the children who have won the Olympia to join their husbands and daughters on the awards platform. Miranda tells Lilly to go it’s her time.

Cesar yells at Bertha to hurry. If she doesn't he will go alone to visit Luis Alberto and Nuria. Bertha comes out of her room just as the doorbell rings. Its Julio and Rebecca announcing they are not there for a courtesy visit. Bertha mocks that Papa and Mama have come to say that Cesar is a bad boy for living with her right? Julio tells her to pipe down, they have a point with Cesar not with her, even though she caused it. They know that it was Cesar and his accomplice that kidnapped Fabricio. Bertha goes from mocking witch to weak woman as she puts her hand on her head. Her eyes follow Rebecca and Julio as they make their statements. Rebecca tells Cesar she wants him to return her jewels that they have had in the family for generations or she will report him and his accomplice.

Father Santiago tells Alejandro that LA and Nuria are ready to go. He tells Al to hurry and get there. LA states that AL better hurry up because they have to leave in 30 minutes. Nuria is freaking out telling the men about her premonitions and how her chest hurts. She thanks the Father for everything; she is never going to see him again. Santiago decides that this is the time to finally tell Nuria the truth; Tomasa was her grandmother. Nurias eyes widen in shock.

Alejandro, Sofia and Lilly stand at the winner’s platform. Miranda and Pamela stand nervously at the edge of the crowd. Evil friend, Marisol, slides over to Miranda and Pamela and greets them by acting like she doesn’t know who they are. She tells Miranda and Pamela that she is the aunt of Sofia as she points to Al, Lilly and Sofia. Pamela opens the door to trouble by pointing at Al and asking Marisol if He is the father of your niece? The door has been opened for Marisol’s evil plan. She tells M&P all sorts of untrue things like Lilly is seeing Al. Al will soon be getting a divorce and they will be getting married, blah blah blah. Miranda, as expected, falls for the trick and gets mad. She looks over to see Alejandro kissing on Sofia as Lilly gazes happily at them. Miranda has had it and excuses herself from the women.

Sofia’s friends compliment her on the handsomeness of her dad and his strength. No one stops the kids from thinking that Al is her dad. Miranda saunters up like a tiger about to devour its meal, eyeing Al with her death vision. She tells Al congratulations for his 1st place. Al is shocked to be busted. She tells him that she came because Sofia called her. Remember the call I got in the library? It was Sofia. Al weakly tells her that he was going to tell her but but but. Miranda continues undeterred. She tells Al that Bertha called her and that Bertha wants to meet them in the hacienda tonight. Miranda then puts her death ray on Lilly telling her to not look at her like that; she’s talking about family things that don’t concern her. Miranda finishes it off by asking Al to let her know if he will be there and she walk away. AL, who is wearing a silly medallion around his neck signifying his 1st place win, turns to Lilly to chew her out. He accuses her of orchestrating the scene with Miranda to separate him from his wife and for using her daughter to get at him. At that very moment they are called to take a photo. The three pose with Sofia shinning brightly; she got her way! While Al and Lilly look less than happy.

Rebecca pleads with Cesar that he couldn’t have sold all her jewelry! Certainly there are pieces they can recuperate! Cesar tells her to forget it. The jewels are gone to support his business. Julio gets seriously mad at Cesar telling him he doesn't have a business and he wont even get a pardon from God for what he has done to his mother. Cesar tells him he doesn't care. Julio taunts that LA split with all of Cesar’s capital, he will never see LA again. Cesar tells them he will get peso for peso from LA while Julio laughs. Rebecca regains her voice and tells Cesar she is going to report him and his accomplice to the law. Cesar slams out of the apartment as Bertha smirks from the couch. She laughingly tells Rebecca that was not the right way to confront Cesar. Julio and Bertha call Bertha a viper and leave. Bertha stares off in space.

Veronica and Renata go into Fabricio’s room. He is working on his laptop computer as he holds the baby. Veronica picks the baby up to coo at him. Veronica asks if Fab cares that she is HIV positive and holding the baby. Fab gives a public health message that you can’t pass HIV from kisses or hugs and much less for loving his child. No one should be discriminated for having the virus. Veronica is touched. Fab turns back to his laptop to look at an email a friend in Germany just sent him. He calls the girls attention to the email. It has a picture from a security camera from the building next to the assassinated cardiologists’ house which caught an unknown woman leaving the building. None of the occupants know this woman. The trio looks closer at the email picture. It’s Bertha!

Tomorrow what will Miranda do about Lilliana? Can we make it till the end of this show?
