Navidad Sin Fin - Dec. 25, 2006

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE!

EPISODE 11 (end of part 2, transition to part 3):
Matilde is holding Rigoberto - Alejandra runs over and moves Matilde out of the way to get to Rigoberto. Matilde is very concerned but Alejandra doesn't want to hear it. She orders Matilde to leave them alone.

Ma and Pa are at home, still very worried about where Yolanda is; she hasn't appeared at all.

Alberto and Mauricio meet with Padre Miguel and Pancho in the church office. Alberto and Mauricio are very insistent on their project to help the children, as well as their search for Angelita and Rodito. Padre Miguel is skeptical and turns the idea down flat. Alberto pushes to try and convince Padre - Padre still rejects it outright, and gets up and orders them to leave his office.

Alejandra sits with Casimiro and Rigoberto at the restaurant. Casimiro asks Alejandra what is her problem with Matilde, are they related? Alejandra says Matilde means nothing to them (she's bitter and hurt). Casimiro mentions that Matilde has been closed off in her house except for the occasional meal at the restaurant. Rigoberto mentions his father, Alfonso. Alejandra is taken aback with Rigoberto's sentiment. Alejandra opens up and tells Rigoberto that Matilde is his grandmother. They talk and talk.

On a bench in the square, Rodo tells Angelita his idea to get everything back on track - Angelita is skeptical and tells him no tricks. Rodo is adamant his idea will work and tries to convince Angelita to go along with it. Pancho approaches and sits down and talks with Angelita and Rodo. They discuss the search for the children, two in particular (Angelita and Rodito). Angelita asks him for his wish - he says he would wish not for himself but for Rigoberto to be well again. They continue talking; Pancho reveals his thoughts and beliefs about angels. Rodo and Angelita smile.

Matilde stops by the church office and talks with Padre Miguel about meeting Alejandra and his grandson. She's upset by Alejandra's harsh comments towards her.

Sebastian talks with Alberto and Mauricio in his office. They discuss how Padre Miguel turned their project down flat - Alberto threatens that if Padre Miguel doesn't cooperate, they will just take their business to another town.

Rigoberto and Alejandra are at the apartment. Rigoberto leaves. Alejandra pulls out a photo of Alfonso to look at. Matilde stops by to talk with Alejandra. They clear up alot of misunderstandings from the past. Matilde listens to Alejandra, she understands and invites Alejandra and Rigoberto to a special dinner at her home tonight. Alejandra is surprised.

Sebastian talks with Padre Miguel about Alberto and Mauricio's threat. Padre isn't interested in the project. Sebastian tries desperately to convince him but Padre won't budge, he has his reasons. Pancho and Rigoberto arrive in the middle of the discussion. As Padre Miguel tells about how the project will threaten the Day of the Three Wise Men celebration, Rigoberto becomes very upset with the thought that his mother will suffer. Rigoberto runs out of the office.

Matilde talks with Angelita and invites her and Rodo to dinner tonight. Angelita accepts and will bring a special guest with them.

Alone in the office, Pancho and Padre Miguel talk in confidence. Pancho reveals that he likes Alejandra and wants to be there for her to support and love her. Padre offers him work in the restaurant. Pancho is excited by the opportunity, it means he will be closer to Alejandra. As Pancho leaves, Padre Miguel mentions something that surprises Pancho.

Rigoberto returns home and cries to his mom. He doesn't want her to suffer. She hugs and consoles him. She then tells him they will be going to dinner at his grandmother's house.

Angelita and Rodo enter the church office and tell Pancho that he will be joining them for dinner with Matilde, Alejandra and Rigoberto at Matilde's house. Pancho is overjoyed. Then Angelita and Rodo reveal the necklace emulet around Angelita's neck - Pancho is surprised as he realizes who they really are. Angelita and Rodo have Pancho kneel down and pray for his wish and dream.

Sebastian sits down at the table with Alberto and Mauricio - bad news, Padre Miguel won't change his mind on the project. Alberto and Mauricio can't believe it - Alberto comes up with a 'plan b' to get to Angelita and Rodo. Sebastian leaves to try again with Padre Miguel. Alberto and Mauricio are frustrated.

Matilde comes home. Ma corners her in the front hall - she is still worried sick about Yolanda; she hasn't appeared at all.

Sebastian is in the home office with Pa - they discuss their worries about Yolanda's disappearance. Pa has his suspicions.

Mauricio asks Alberto why the hurry, panic about finding Angelita and Rodo. Alberto explains. Mauricio shows his gun. Alberto tells him that won't work against angels. He tells him that their boss won't forgive or forget errors. Mauricio declares he isn't scared, he will take the lead in the operation.

Matilde welcomes Padre Miguel, Angelita, Rodo, and Pancho to her home. As they go to the living room, Alejandra and Rigoberto arrive and Matilde welcomes them.

Nati is in the kitchen preparing the meal - she feels a sudden chill in the air, and gets spooked. Casimiro comes in - Nati tells him of the weird things that have been occurring in the house, possible ghost. Casimiro and Nati talk as they leave the kitchen.

Matilde takes Rigoberto on a tour of the house. When they enter her bedroom, Rigoberto asks about his father. Matilde shows him the pocketwatch that had been his great-grandfather's which has been handed down to his grandfather and his father. Now she is handing it down to him - he thinks it is a gift and shouldn't accept it. She says it is his inheritance; everything she has is his.

Padre Miguel sits with Pa and Sebastian and they start discussing and arguing about Matilde's special guests. Sebastian is shocked that Alejandra and Rigoberto are there. Pa is outraged by it. Padre Miguel defends Matilde's right to invite whomever she wants to dinner at her house. Then he tells them it is almost the new year - do not make him angry.

In the kitchen, Alejandra is checking the food on the stove. Pancho enters. They discuss how his angel search is going - he explains how he encountered them, his beliefs in angels. Alejandra is surprised. As Pancho walks to the doorway, Alejandra asks him about love. Pancho returns and their talk ends up with Pancho proposing marriage; Alejandra accepts. They exchange smiles.

Ma, Pa, Sebastian and Padre Miguel argue. Matilde and Rigoberto enter as the voices become loud. Matilde ushers Rigoberto to find his mother. She stays and confronts Ma and Pa for worrying and panicking about Yolanda's disappearance. At the mention of Mauricio, Mauricio and Alberto enter the room. Mauricio pulls out his gun and aims it at them. Casimiro and Nati enter at that moment and are shocked.

In the kitchen, Pancho and Alejandra tell Rigoberto the good news - they are engaged to be married.

Ma, Pa, Sebastian, Padre Miguel and Matilde sit down silently at the dining table. Alberto walks back and forth expounding on his plan, and how they are foiling it all up. Mauricio still holds the gun and aims it at them. Mati answers one question. Alberto counters it with his own opinion. Padre Miguel stands up and scolds Alberto. A chilly breeze blows into the room and the table shakes.

Angelita and Rodo enter into the kitchen and join Alejandra, Pancho and Rigoberto. Angelita tells them that Rigoberto is now cured. They are happy and hug.

Alberto tells everyone to stay seated as they search the house for the angels. Rigoberto runs in to tell Matilde that he's been cured. Alberto pulls out his "devil's emulet" and says a witch's chant. The room goes dark and everyone freezes in place. Rodo and Angelita move around to Mauricio and Alberto - Rodo blows on the back of their necks and they - POOF! - into thin air. Rigoberto watches and wonders where they went. Angelita explains and takes him to another room.

Rodo finds phantom Yolanda; she is very sorry for what she did, he says she will have plenty of time to think about it - and tells her the punishment.

Rodo turns the lights back on; everyone starts to talk and eat. Rodo joins Angelita and Rigoberto in the front hall - Rodo and Angelita say good-bye. Then in front of Rigoberto, they change into their new images. Rodo (now played by Jan) and Angelita (now played by Macaria). Rodo holding Gabriel the bear give Rigoberto a special message.

Heridas Friday December 23

Miranda is sitting on the floor working on her laptop and Fernanda comes in, Miranda says she couldn’t keep up her happy face any longer at the party. Renata runs in complaining that Gabino brought old clothes from the hacienda, the others tell her they aren’t even a year old! This is to show how shallow Renata is I think. Miranda says she’s putting a plan together for the chocolate at the hacienda. She wants Renata’s help to put together some outfits for her from some fabric in storage. Renata is appalled at the suggestion but Miranda insists.

Al and Vicente are eating, well Vicente is, Al doesn’t have any appetite after selling his house. Al tells Vicente that he wants to make a horse race against a former rival of his father’s, if Al wins he wants this guy to put some money into SLI. This scheme is straight from Laverne & Shirley or something.

Nuria, LA, and Roman say how sad it is that Flor died, poor hijo, etc. They move on to talk about how they can lay a trap for Cesar by calling and pretending to know all the details about how he killed Lasagna and disposed of the body.

Cesar chats with his mother and Julio. His parents, actually. He mentions that Daniel and Angel are out looking for clients, that solves the big ‘where are those two losers’ mystery. Cesar is trying to get Julio and his mother to get out of town on a trip or something. Julio says no, that’s final. Cesar’s phone rings, it’s Roman telling him in a disguised voice that he knows that Lasagna died in his apartment. Cesar is impactado, he starts clenching his jaw and all that other stuff he does.

Fern leaves to go see the baby. Renata is trying to figure out what kind of designs to make. Charo and Santiago enter, Charo is crying. Babe Lawyer’s evil friend was trying to pump her for info on the San Llorentes, when she wouldn’t say anything, the evil one yelled at her and insulted her. Renata takes her to kitchen for a cafecito. Santiago asks Miranda how she is doing in order to be able to give her his patented “keep your chin up” speech. Miranda is scared to open the letter from Florencia because she thinks Flor might be asking her to get back with Fabricio. Santiago manages to slip in “time will take care of it” in his response, which is part two of the “keep your chin up” speech. Miranda says she feels alone, Santiago finishes his patented trilogy with “you have strength inside you.”

Babe Lawyer, evil friend, and daughter are having dinner and they call Charo, then discover she is gone. Babe Lawyer is made at her friend for asking her so many questions and scaring her off. Evil one says for sure Charo ran back to Miranda, call her and ask her! Babe Lawyer does. When Miranda answers and discovers it’s B.L., she goes off on her. REALLY off on her. B.L. can barely get a word in edgewise before Miranda yells some more and hangs up. B. L. is really mad now at Evil one. Then her daughter asks her, “Mom is it true that you are going to make life miserable for Alejandro’s wife?” Evil one takes a drink and tries to act innocent. This lady is trouble. B.L. sends daughter off to bed, then yells at her friend “we’ll talk as soon as she’s in bed.”

Al and Vicente try to figure out how Lasagna’s necklace ended up with Flor’s baby.

B.L. gives a lecture to Evil one that is hypocritical. Babe Lawyer pretends to not have any interest in causing Al’s marriage any trouble. Yeah right. Evil one tries to talk her into being a troublemaker anyway, “think of you daughter.” Have you seen this house Babe Lawyer lives in? I think she’s doing ok. Really.

Charo leave Renata alone in the kitchen since she’s tired. Renata has daydreams about being in bed with Juan. We see how hairy Juan’s arms and legs are, so he is definitely a chest waxer. Big time. This guy is a gorilla and tries to pull off the hairless chest. Back in real time Juan himself finds Renata in the kitchen. He asks how she feels and gets a long whiny speech in return. This is the same conversation they’ve had before, really nothing new to add. Memories of doing the dirty deed float around both of them, then in the kitchen right now they start making out. So next I expect sex, then her driving away crying.

Al tells Miranda he’ll change lawyers, he doesn’t care, whatever he has to do. Fab runs in and says that he was talking to the baby about Flor and the baby smiled. He pulls the family portrait pose with Miranda again and Al feels sorry for himself, thinking “this is what she wants, but I don’t want any kids!” For some reason then he starts flicking the light on and off. I have no idea what that is about. While the others continue to coo over the baby, he leaves unnoticed. Fab says “Al come see” but he’s gone. Miranda goes to find him, then tells Fab that “he doesn’t want to see the baby.” Fab realizes that Miranda loves Al, he wants to go get Al and bring him back so they can work it out. Miranda says no. Outside, Al has a flashback to when Fab said he would get Miranda back when Flor dies, then storms off. Fab tells Miranda to not be stupid, go find Al. Fern returns for the baby. Miranda leaves and Fab explains to Fern what they were talking about. Fab convinces her to leave Miranda alone for now.

Juan and Renata are still making out in the kitchen. Miranda walks in on them, in the middle of her contractually obligated crying. Renata asks what’s wrong, Miranda says she wants to run to Al and tell him that she loves him but can’t get the picture of him kissing Babe Lawyer out of her head. Renata tries to convince her that she isn’t alone, they are all together. Juan and Renata give kissy eyes at each other. Whatever. These two are wearing me out.

Babe Lawyer tells the Evil one that she thought Evil one was a friend, but she obviously isn’t. Evil one tries to convince her that she is right, B.L. should steal Al. B.L. says she wants Al, but not like that. Evil one uses B.L.’s phone to call Al, she tells him that daughter is upset and calling for Al, Al says he’ll be right there. B.L. tries to take the high road and says she won’t participate in lies and tells Evil one to leave.

El Guapo has a drink and a smoke after raping Bertha. She calls him a brute and asks how he could do that. This from the most evil woman in Mexico. He says “remember how you hurt my hand?” He starts in like he’s going to rape her again, she tells him to leave, she could kill him right now! Yeah right. She actually looks like she’s enjoying it a bit. He goes on about how she smells. He has a real smell thing. Then he leaves and Bertha whimpers and cries.

Amparito and Francisco arrive with food for Fern. Fern is crying, so they all hug and cry. Fern feels like she could have done something more to save Flor, the others say of course not, it’s nobody’s fault. Fern says she knows that Bertha is responsible for Flor’s death. They force Fern to eat something.

Cesar returns home to find Bertha on the couch under a blanket. She asks Cesar what happened? He says you know, Nuria disappeared. She says she didn’t know. Cesar says for sure she’s with Luis Alberto. He tells of the phone call about Lasagna and the only people who know about that are Cesar, Bertha, and LA. So he has to be involved. Bertha says those two are a time bomb, they know too much. She rubs her forehead, gets up, and limps towards to back. Cesar says what happened? Bertha says nothing important to you. She doesn’t want to talk about this stupid stuff. Cesar says who was here and she answers that it was El Guapo. Cesar says what a Quasimodo he is, if you were with him I’ll never touch you again. Bertha says she didn’t want to, he raped her, and he will pay dearly! Cesar sits down on the couch and appears to sniff the air over the sofa where the deed happened. He takes a sip of his drink but it all appears to have grossed him out so much he throws up right there on the floor.

Fern, Amparito, and Francisco have pulled up some folding chairs, it looks like an AA meeting. Julio arrives and pulls up a chair. He offers his condolences. He wants to see Fabricio and leaves the room. The others continue to talk about, well, nothing really. Then Francisco tells Fern that Sanson has returned, he should warn Al.

Al arrives and is greeted by the Evil one. Evil one is pretty hot too I have to mention. Babe Lawyer plays innocent and basically throws Evil one under the bus. Al tells Evil one to not ever call him like that again, it is basically like crying wolf. Evil one has the nerve to be offended by Al. B.L. says whatever, get the hell out of my house.

Juan tells Miranda that Al loves her more than anything. He says he’s seen Al cry over her. Juan’s phone rings and he gets some news, he’ll be there right away. The results are in on the blood tests for the blood at the hacienda (when Miranda shot Cesar) and the blood on the handkerchief that Charo had from Gonzalo’s murder. Miranda says “they are the same type right?” Juan says no. Needless to say, Miranda is impactada.

Mundo de Fieras - Friday 12/22/06 Bedlam Before the Burial

Candy comes in shortly after Mariangela has found her father dead on the couch. Neither of the two can believe he isn’t really sleeping. They are both shocked and Mariangela cries inconsolably while Candy looks on in horror and disbelief.

Leo attends to Paulina inside the manse. (What do they need him for if their OB-Gyn just left there? Who even called him? Well, at least he isn’t charging yet.) Upstairs he checks Pau’s vital signs and abdomen. He tells them that he does not want to mislead them, but there is some possibility that the baby can be born if they both help and Pau follows instructions.

Jos is trying on all of Mommie Dearest’s jewelry as she tells Mommie that she wants to be sure that Foolish Freddy, before being sent to jail, had filed the new will that made the two of them sole inheritors of Clemente’s huge fortune. Mommie Dearest advises Jos that now she will have to appear the most loving of grieving daughters, and in the meantime she has an appointment to have their jewelry appraised. They may have to sell all of hers, Jos’s and Karen’s jewels because she refuses to let anyone treat them as trashy poor folks no matter what it takes. Jos scowls over her shoulder at her mother when she hears this (and it seems Miriam had better think again).

Otilia decides to let Karen give her a quote on putting a big fashion gala together. She tells Karen that she has only hired her as a favor to her Aunt Dolores. As Karen is leaving Otilia’s office, she overhears Soraya showing Otilia a few new designs. Otilia brags about how poor Miriamcita will soon be selling used clothes on a stool while Otilia’s fashion house becomes #1 in all of Mexico. Karen takes mental notes of their conversation from around the corner in the hallway. (Otilia must not be thinking straight about now, I guess, what with Fickle Freddie in jail, to be putting Mini-Miriam to work for her new fashion house.)

Miriam waits while the jeweler appraises her jewels and then gets the 1st real shock of her life because the jeweler tells her that they are well made fakes and aren’t worth more than a few trinkets. He tells her she has wasted his time and leaves. Miriam remembers then Rogelio telling her about Pedro entering her bedroom, and having the wall safe open, so she now thinks that he was the culprit who substituted her stolen pieces with fakes.

Pedro tells Gabe he has decided to take the scholarship and will be leaving soon. Gabe congratulates him as his “second” son on his decision and hugs abound.

Candy calls Leo to tell him about Clemente and that Mariangela has not stopped crying since she found him. He cannot believe what he’s hearing since he was examining Clemente scarcely yesterday and Clemente was just fine. He rushes over to be at Mariangela’s side. As for Mariangela, the first person she calls to tell about her dad is Gabe. He, Regina, Dolores and JC are upstairs at Pau’s bedside. He tells Regina why he must rush out and asks her to make sure Pau does not find out about Clemente just yet because it would upset her and possibly hurt her chances to bring the baby to term.

Miriam has Pedro come to her office and she slaps him first thing. She accuses him of being the thief who took jewels from her bedroom safe and replaced them with fakes. He tells her he does not know about any of this so she calls him a coward for not admitting his guilt. She slaps him again as he tries to tell her it was Rogelio, not him, who is the thief. Miriam yells back that Rogelio has nothing to do with any of this, but he is now angry as hell himself and tries to leave. (He is too much of a gentleman to slap back.) She grabs him and says he is not going anywhere till he gives her back what belongs to her. He replies that he cannot give her back what he does not have. She threatens him with jail and he yells back at her telling her (like the mouse that finally roared) to go ahead but his conscience is clear, and that he is fed up with living in this house full of wild she-beasts and is leaving. Then he turns around and slams the door shut behind him. Miriam figures that he really must not have had anything to do with the fakes after all.

Mariangela sadly stares over at her father’s dead body still slouched on her couch. Leo comes in to see if he can offer a bit of sympathy and a shoulder to cry on. He tells her they have to do an autopsy as the law demands, but that it will determine for her exactly what caused his death. He tries consoling her by telling her that we have to realize that some things, as painful as they might be, just have to be accepted in life.

Jos pays her long overdue visit to abandoned Freddy who, by now, has had a jailhouse epiphany, and realizes that she had planned to have him take the fall for the murder from the very beginning. He is not a happy camper when she comes in. He yells through the bars at her, “How come you haven’t come to see me before now?” “I have been so busy. I simply cannot thank you enough--” Jos begins. He stops her, “You’re lying! I realized you had it planned from the beginning the moment I saw the look on your face at the trial after I made my final declaration!” She coldly admits all of it then. “Yes, you were such a fool to take the blame yourself and so I used you. “ “But I am your father, and I did this for you!” answers the incredulous Freddy. “You don’t matter at all. You don’t mean a thing to me!” is Jos’ oh-so-cold reply. She tries to back away but Freddy manages to grab her through the bars and begins choking her.

Jos, however, manages to bite his hand and he has to let loose of her then. He renounces being her father or having ever helped her, and he tells her he never wants to see her again. “Too late! The judge already sentenced you (nanny-nanny-boo-boo!) and you are going to spend a lot of years in jail paying for Edgar’s murder. I only came to find out if you finished changing Clemente’s will so mom and I will end up with all of his fortune. Well, from the look on your face you apparently did.” Infuriated, he throws himself at the bars in a vain attempt to grab her again, but she backs away just in time and gives him a finger blow-kiss from her lips. “Bye-bye, Dad!” As she turns to walk away she looks over her shoulder, smiles and adds,” May you rot in jail!” Freddy starts screaming through the bars, “You will pay for this, I swear! –Jailer! I need to talk to someone!!”

Gabe is driving over to Mariangela’s in the Beemer (I guess he left the Jag with Jos), when he gets a call from Freddy who is frog hopping mad. Freddy tells Gabe he must speak to him as soon as possible because he has something very important to tell him. (Out with it already, Freddy!) Gabe tells him he can’t take the time right then because there has been a tragedy. Freddy asks what happened and Gabe tells him that Clemente is dead. Freddy is impactado. “He can’t be! He can’t be!”
Jos gets back home and tells Miriam about the incident at the jail. Miriam tells Jos about the jewels being forgeries and Jos feels it could not be Pedro. He would be too scared to try it. She wonders if it was Clemente instead, since he knew the combination to Miriam’s safe. Miriam agrees it was probably him and says she is glad then that the damned jerk is dead.

Gabe arrives at Mariangela’s just a bit after Leo, and she runs into his arms totally forgetting poor Leo is even there. Leo slumps, mumbles his good-byes, and shuffles out the door unnoticed. (The guy just cannot buy a break, can he? --Leo, forget her. She has half a screw loose anyway, falling in love with a guy old enough to be her father and then some. And, no, hair dye at that age doesn’t change the fact, either.)

Miriam cautions her daughter that they will have to pretend to be extremely pained over Clemente’s death. Jos tells Miriam she is tired of pretending about Clemente. Miriam says they will have to for a while longer. As they get ready to walk out the door to change into their mourning clothes, Jos cheers her mom up by reminding her that after this they will never have another financial worry in the world. With Clemente’s fortune, they are now fabulously wealthy. “You’re absolutely right, daughter!” As they open the door to walk out, Miriam immediately begins wailing over her dearly departed husband. (Helena Rojo’s dead-pan timing is impeccable again. --Thank God there is some true comic relief about now.)

The very dignified funeral for Clemente has started. Everybody from Saroya and Diana to Candy and Cortito are there. The priest is praying over the coffin when Jos, Miriam and Karen make their dramatic entrance right next to it, and Jos begins wailing at the top of her voice over her dead “Papito!” Gabe is upset to see her act this way, as is everybody else it appears. Jos looks over to the grieving Mariangela and accuses her at the top of her lungs of killing her father. “Are you happy now? You killed him! You did not know how to care for him! You damned bitch!” Mariangela screams back, “I am not the cause of my father’s death! He had love and care here!” Karen takes her turn and lashes out at Mariangela. She tells her that her grandfather’s death will forever be on Mariangela’s conscience. Miriam starts yelling then that if she "would have only let us bring him back home this would never have happened.” Candy has had enough and she starts screaming back at them to defend Mariangela’s care of her ailing father. “I witnessed myself how you behaved toward him! Mariangela cared for him and was the best daughter ever!” Miriam yells back at her to explain then how and why he died. Candy rushes over to try to hit her. Bedlam ensues and Jos and Miriam are ready to oblige Candy when Gabe comes into the middle of the fray and holds Jos off. The others hold back Candy just in time. Then Leo jumps up and yells over the ruckus to inform the whole crowd of mourners, “Though this is not the time or place, the autopsy report states he died of drinking impure alcohol.”

Jos and Miriam act shocked and immediately accuse Mariangela of giving her father the tainted alcohol even though she knew he was an alcoholic. Mariangela says he only drank while he lived with the two of them because he had felt so alone. With her, there was never the need for him to drink. Miriam screetches back to Mariangela, “Then explain the results of the autopsy!” Gabe finally has had enough (haven’t we all about now) and tells Jos her father’s body is being laid to rest here and deserves respect. If they cannot control themselves, they need to just leave and now. (Thank you, Gabe! It took you long enough!) Jos won’t leave the spotlight, but at least her wailing at 150 decibels finally ends and she continues to “sob", bent over Clemente’s coffin. She has made her entrance and her point.

Saroya whispers to Diana that Jos lacks good judgment. (That is an understatement.) Rogelio steps over to Diana just then and asks her what game she is playing. Diana tells him she isn’t talking to him right now. He warns her to be careful, but she tells him he better cut out the threats unless he wants his daddy to find out how he earns his living now. “Just the look on Gabe’s face when he finds out you’re the owner of a strip joint! Now get lost because we do not want to see you or to have you near us. (Slam! Bam! Pow! What a classy putdown. Diana 2, Rogelio zip.)

Leo returns home after the funeral and tells Silvestre that it is over between him and Mariangela. She is free to be happy with whomever. That whomever (Gabe) is comforting Mariangela by her father’s coffin. He tells her how happy Clemente was living with her and that she gave him the peace that he could never find living all those years with Miriam and Joselyn. --For their part, Jos goes up to change her clothes. She is going out to party. Miriam gets agitated and says she should not be seen out and about like that with her father just laid to rest. What will people say? Jos replies that with all that money of Clemente’s in her hands, they can think whatever they want. (PAR-T-Y DOWN!!)

Mariangela comes to visit her parents’ graves the next day to put flowers on them. Cecilia, who was Aurora’s nurse at the hospice, appears. She says she cannot talk then, but she gives Mariangela the address where she can come find her so they can chat.

Karen comes to see Pau and "accidentally-on-purpose" lets it slip that Clemente has died and was buried. She upsets her with this news and JC enters the room. She excuses herself and says she is so sorry, but she thought Paulina knew about Clemente. JC asks her to leave.

Miriam, Jos, and Gabe are in the library waiting for the lawyer to read Clemente’s will. Miriam is impatient for the proceedings to begin. Gabe says they have to wait for Nicolas. Suddenly, Nic appears and in comes Mariangela with him. He tells the lawyer that Clemente’s final will and testiment gave half of all his wealth and possessions to Joselyn and Mariangela equally. Miriam has to have clarification from Gabe, because nothing went to her, only to the two girls. The notary declares their prior will then to be invalid. Miriam is fuming and she threatens to fight for what is hers by right. “Notario, can’t you do something to stop this hit and run job?” Jos plays the victim for having to share. “First you took my father. Now you are taking what belongs to us. Have some pity and leave us in peace.” Mariangela tells her to stuff it ‘cause she isn’t buying the act. Jos can think what she wants, but she could care less. Jos leaves and afterward Mariangela tells Nic and Gabe that she is willing to give up her share of the inheritance just to be left alone because she doesn’t want trouble. Gabe and Nic both tell her to think about it long and hard because she now has just as many rights as Jos, including the fact she now owns half of the mansion they are standing in. (I know I wouldn’t have to think twice.......)

Miriam complains to Jos that their hands are tied for now, but after thinking it through with a cooler head, she feels it is better for them to leave things as they are. She explains to Jos that if Nic starts an investigation he might discover that she forged Clemente’s signature and that would be worse for them. So, she says they will have to find another way to take Mariangela’s portion away from her.

In Candy’s kitchen, Mariangela tells Candy that she does not want the inheritance and she doesn’t want to live in the mansion although it is her right to do so now. It is too full of bitter memories. Then she tells Candy about her running into Cecilia, her mother’s nurse. She tells her the nurse suspects her mother was murdered. Mariangela plans to let Leo know soon and to go over to get the details from the nurse at her place.

Gabe tells JC and Paulina that he will be moving into the mansion to watch out for her while she is ill. Later he tells Jos, who surprises him when she responds in a very mature and composed manner. Jos tells him he does not have to remind her that they are no longer married or related in any way. She only wants to deal with him on a courteous and genial level for Little Lui’s sake.

Rogelio complains to Tiberio about Paulina’s situation at the mansion now. “It might as well be a hospital!” Everybody is going to be staying there again, even Dolores. What really irks him is that Otilia and Diana now know that they own the stripclub. Ti advises Rogelio that if it means kissing Diana’s feet to insure they don’t lose their business, Rogelio will have to do it.

Dolores meets up with Jos in the main hall of the manse as she is taking a tray up to Paulina. She is surprised to see Dolores there. Dolores tells her she will be looking after Paulina. She adds that she had better get used to seeing her there because she is going to be around a good long while. Jos tries for a truce and says if Dolores minds her own business, Jos will tend to her own. Dolores tells Jos to keep her distance because as far as she is concerned Jos is the one who murdered her brother. Jos glares at her then.

Leo goes with Mariangela to speak with Cecelia. She tells them that in Aurora’s autopsy they found she had been given major doses of tranquilizer. She had been afraid to come forward because she was afraid as her nurse that they would accuse her. She believes the person who gave her the deadly dose of medicines was caught on their security tapes. The woman was tall and thin, but unfortunately they didn’t get a good look at her because she kept her head down and had her hair up. It was definitely, though somebody she had never seen around there before; it was this strange woman who was seen on the security camera tapes going into Aurora’s room.

La Fea Más Bella #173 12/22/06 Fernando who?

Luigi and the cuartel

In the ladies' room, Irma tells the cuartel (plus Saimon and Luigi) that Rafael, the dirtbag husband who left her 30 years ago had come back to her to die. She went to the doctor in the morning to get an explanation of the lab reports. Raf has an advanced case of diabetes, poorly treated, and his kidneys are shot. He could die at any moment. Saimon asks Irma what she's going to do. She doesn't know, and she's afraid. How can she sit by this man and wait for him to die?

And her kids - she'll have to let them know, and it will dredge up all those bad memories of the pain they felt when he abandoned them. It wouldn't be fair. Luigi says it would be even more unfair not to tell them. PM agrees that her kids have ever right to know what's going on.

They talk a little more in the lobby and Luigi leaves Irma with the feas so he can get some work done. Irma just wants to go see how Rafael is doing. Lola says they'll go with her. They all agree, and she is unable to resist.

Another pointless phone call

RoboPop complains that he needs to set up a business for himself, because he can't find a job and he's still waiting for his severance. Mom says Tomas is looking too. He grumps that Lety went off to Acapulco without even knowing how much she'd be paid. Mom says she thinks that Lety is going to come back soon, because she said she misses them. This cheers him up, and he eagerly reaches for the phone. Mom says no, we can't say anything, because you're not supposed to know! He asks why. She says she doesn't know why, maybe 'cuz he bothers Lety so much. :-) RoboPop asks what other secrets the two of them are hiding from him.

She is saved by the bell, or should I say, the telephone. They have a needlessly long conversation about how he should conduct himself in case that's her on the phone. Finally he answers it. It's...

...Fernando! Fern puts his hand over the mouthpiece and nervously tells Omar that it's Erasmo. He hands the phone to Omar and says "speak to him. That's an order!" Omar takes the phone and asks for Lety. RoboPop suspiciously asks who's calling. Omar says, "I'm a friend." "Which friend?" Erasmo asks suspiciously.

"I'm..." Omar hesitates, unable to think of even one name. "Diego," Fern suggests. "Soy Diego," Omar says. "Diego who?" RoboPop asks. Again, Omar is at a loss. "Vivanco," Fern offers. "Vivanco!" Omar tells RoboPop. He asks when he can talk to Lety. RoboPop says only that she's out of town. Omar asks did she go on a trip, where to, and when will she come back; RoboPop tells him that it's confidential information and he can't divulge it. What does he need from Lety, anyway? Omar says he needs to chat with her about some important things.

At Fern's urging, Omar suavely asks to speak with Lety's mom. RoboPop is even more suspicious and asks what "Diego" wants with Julieta Solis. (Mom raises her eyebrows inquisitively.) Yet again, Omar is stymied. Fern reminds Omar that Julieta Solis is Lety's mom.

Mom takes the phone from RoboPop, and Omar hands his off to Fern. Fern hurriedly tells her to please don't tell Erasmo it's him, but he really does need to talk to Lety. It's very urgent. She tells him that, like her husband said, she's away and they don't know when she's coming back. Fern says he can't talk to Erasmo because things can get complicated, but Lety needs to come back because she has an appointment with the lawyers at Conceptos. It's very serious; she left some loose ends when she quit, and she needs to be there at 10 tomorrow morning.

All Mom can promise is that she'll pass his message along to Lety. Fernando flips out silently in his chair but sounds perfectly calm as he asks her again to tell Lety that it's very urgent. She promises.

Fernando fans, imagine this: you receive a message that Fern desperately needs to see you at 10 the next day. What do you do? (Obviously, this is only a rhetorical question.)

Fern is disappointed. He and Omar rehash the conversation that just took place and wonder what to do. Fern has a great idea: they'll go to lunch, and Omar will pay. "Why me?" Omar asks. "Because I'm not the president anymore," Fern answers. "I'm broke."

At Tomas's favorite restaurant, the Casa de Padilla, RoboPop says he's not going to stop bugging Mom until she tells him who that guy was. She and Lety have friends in common, he complains. Mom insists that the man was just a coworker of Lety's. They need her there. RoboPop wants to know why he wouldn't talk to him? She says she doesn't know, maybe because he's infamous around Conceptos for being a grouch. Now RoboPop wants this guy to say that to his face! "Call him," he demands, waving the phone at Mom. She encourages him to take a nap to mend his bad mood. He turns to Moty and tells him not to get up on the bed and wake him up. He shuffles off to bed.

"Are you like him?" she asks Moty. "No, you're nice," she says, giggling.

In Marcia's office

Marcia is on the phone with Ricky Armstrong of Bella Life (purveyors of makeup, perfume, jewelry, and... lemon soda?), telling him they've had some problems, but he doesn't need to worry. They'll talk about it in a meeting. Luigi enters. Marcia says she's trying to set up a meeting but needs to check with Fern. Luigi says he went off to lunch without a care and this is their (his and Marcia's) chance to prove they don't need him. He takes the phone and says "I would like to make you an indecent proposal."

After lunch

The feas talk about Irma and Rafael. They say Irma is in Luigi's office on the phone with her kids. Omar and Fern come back from lunch just in time to see Marcia, Luigi, and Ricky come out of the boardroom, saying what a great meeting they just had! Laughing, Ricky asks Fern how he's doing. He adds that it was strange not to have him in the boardroom to plan the new commercial for the lemon soda. Fern looks confused. Luigi says they came up with some good ideas for the commercial. Marcia looks very pleased with herself.

Omar says sorry, we were at a business lunch, but Fern interrupts and tells Ricky no, actually, they were at lunch because their production executive and their director didn't tell them they were having a meeting; if Ricky has time, Fern would like them to go to the president's office and discuss the project. Confused, Ricky says sure, let's go. Omar, Fern, and Ricky go into the office where, strictly speaking, Fern shouldn't still be occupying.

The feas exchange quizzical glances while Luigi congratulates himself and Marcia for showing Fern that he's not needed. Marcia seems to have mixed feelings about this, and excuses herself. Offended, Luigi swishes back to his studio. The feas gossip about the way Fern is being treated, and mope about missing Lety.

Marcia is on the horn telling someone that Conceptos won first place at Cannes for production quality. "I would LOVE to work for you," she tells the person on the phone as Fern walks in, mad as a hornet, making unnecessary noise to let her know he's irritated. She winds up the call and hangs up. Fern accuses her of shutting him out of the Ricky Armstrong meeting; she broke the rules of the game. He starts fiddling with something on her desk, but he's clumsy and ends up making a mess. She watches him calmly, not even rolling her eyes, and you have to give this actress some credit for not cracking up laughing at him.

As he struggles to put whatever it was back together, she tells him if he can't do that, then she doesn't think he can run a business either. And he's very much mistaken, because the rules of the game went out the window when he slept with Lety. Livid but unable to disagree, Fern stumbles out of her office.

That evening

Mom calls Lety to tell her about the call from Fern; more about that later. The outcome is that Lety isn't coming home after all; Tomas is going to have to go to the meeting tomorrow in Lety's place. Tomas comes over wanting to be fed, but Mom wastes no time in sharing the bad news. Tomas cringes in anticipation of having to face Fernando and Alicia. Mom gets impatient with him; she's worried about what's going on. It sounds very serious to her. She's afraid someone might be going to prison. Tomas says no; it's not THAT bad, but it'd be better if Lety told her when she comes back.

Meanwhile, at Conceptos, Alicia catches Marcia on her way out and tries to get another invite to her place. Marcia wants to talk to Fernando. Alicia says he's in the president's office, which is improper, because he is no longer the president. She asks Marcia if she's going to forgive him. Marcia says no, she just wants to know if Lety is coming in tomorrow for the meeting with the lawyers. Alicia says, "If that woman shows up here tomorrow, not only do you have to prepare yourself, I do too. Filthy witch!" Marcia gives her a shocked look. Alicia adds that the filthy witch is Lety, not Marcia.

Fern is sitting at his old desk, staring at the photo of Lety on his iMac screen. There is a silly grin on his face. Marcia barges in and he closes the picture hastily. Marcia asks if Lety will be here tomorrow. He says he doesn't know. She says he should have arranged it by now and she just wants to know if Lety is coming so she can prepare herself to be nauseated. He says he hopes Lety will come. Marcia asks why is he so insecure. Was he unable to get ahold of her, or is he upset that she betrayed him at the Big Meeting? He says he truly doesn't know where she is, and no one will tell him.

Marcia is angry. Lety has disappeared with their company. Fern says no, she'll show up. Marcia says everything depends on it. She stomps out and Fern goes back to his picture of Lety. Soon he is smiling that silly grin again.

The feas say goodbye for the day. They say nothing of consequence, just in case you were wondering.

Alicia wants to know what's going on with Lety. Marcia says Fern doesn't know where she is, so they're going to wait for her to call. Alicia makes a crack about Marcia no longer being in her glory days, or somesuch, having to wait on Lety like this. Marcia does not appreciate the insult! They discuss that if Lety doesn't show up, they could lose the business. Alicia says she can't survive without her job, but says they'll find out about that tomorrow. Marcia, however, wants to stick around tonight and wait.

Alicia asks for cab fare. She reminds Marcia that she's an unconditional friend. Marcia grudgingly hands her some money. Alicia generously helps herself to some more and stuffs it in her blouse. She thanks Marcia and leaves Marcia looking frustrated.

Fern calls Lety's house again. Julieta answers and gives him the bad news that Lety isn't coming tomorrow. Fern flips out. Julieta says Lety is too busy; Tomas will be going instead. Yelling, Fern asks, "has your daughter gone crazy, or what?" Julieta says "if you want, I'll tell Tomas not to go." Fern backs down, but asks Julieta to tell Lety not to hide; that he needs her, please.

He hangs up and asks himself what Lety is doing.

Acapulco

Rewinding to early afternoon:

Carolina is telling Alex that she doesn't know where Lety is. She told her to take the day off, but now it's getting late and she's not in her room. Alex says Caro knows he's easygoing and patient, but they're working, and he has his limits. Just then, Lety comes screaming up and apologizing. Caro exclaims in surprise. Perhaps it's the unexpected sight of Lety's semi-nude arms. She scolds Lety for being late and worrying her. Alex shakes his head disapprovingly.

Lety and Caro hurry to their next event. Lety tells Caro that she told her life's story to the man she met today. Caro confirms that sometimes it's easier to confide in strangers than in someone we already know. Lety said she felt like she had known him forever. He was sincere and relaxed and had a calmness about him that relaxed her. Caro asks what this great new friend's name is. Lety suddenly realizes that she's forgotten his name! All she knows is that he's a fisherman. She knows because he was going around in the water catching lobsters. Caro says he must be a very special fisherman.

Caro gets a call from Alex. It's time to work. Lety tells herself that if she can forget all of this (Aldo's name, her work schedule, etc.) she ought to be able to forget Fernando.

Caro explains to the contestants that this is a closed event. She introduces Lety and explains that this is a dress rehearsal for the most important event, the one they've been preparing for. The bellezas ooooh in anticipation.

Miss Puebla asks Lety if she looks too made-up. (I just remembered, Puebla was the only place Lety had ever been to before she went to Germany.) Lety is unsure how to tell; this confuses Miss Puebla, until Lety explains that she doesn't wear makeup. (Is Miss Puebla blind?) Alex approaches and tells her (her name is Renata, which reminds me of Squeaky from that other novela) that it's time for photos. Alex also proudly remembers Lety's name: "Linda Padilla Solis." (Ha, that's funny, Linda means Pretty.) Lety corrects him. He shrugs it off good-naturedly and takes off with Renata. Renata goes back to Lety and says, "with us, you are going to learn many things." Alex comes back for Renata and drags her away. Caro overhears Lety say to herself, "heh, maybe I'll learn how to be happy."

Lety squeezes in between bellezas at the mirror and observes that they look pretty in their makeup; it changes their faces. Some of them glance at her and she hurriedly adds that it makes them a different kind of pretty. (Good save, Lety.)

Later, as the bellezas finish up their dress rehearsal, Lety looks off into the distance and is surprised to see Fernando approaching her in his suit and tie. "Lety, finally I've found you," he says happily. "I found out you went to Acapulco with Carolina, and I missed you so much... I can't live without you." He moves to kiss her.

Suddenly, he's Aldo. She backs away with a surprised look on her face. "The fisherman who saved me?" she asks. Aldo smiles at her, and then she snaps out of her daydream. Carolina is asking if she liked this event with the contestants. Lety says yes, and she was happy that Renata won, because she's so nice. "Yes, and well prepared," Caro agrees. They go to congratulate Renata. Lety announces that in addition to her preparation and beauty, she's also very skilled at speaking publicly. She adds that they all are, but Renata especially. They all applaud Lety; she looks perplexed, and asks why. Caro says it's because she just spoke in public. Lety explains that like Renata, her family is also from Puebla.

Caro (subtle as a thunderbolt) says she doesn't think Renata was always able to speak well in public. Renata confirms this. Caro prompts her to explain how she wasn't always able to do that and didn't think she would become a model. Renata tells them she used to have a shrill voice; she demonstrates and they all laugh, but I'm thinkin', it sounds a lot like Lety when Lety's doing the voice. You know that voice I mean. I call it the Baby Lety voice. Anyway, Renata says it hurt peoples' ears. And she had a terrible walk. She demonstrates a very schlumpy gait. Lety laughs and says that's how we walk in Puebla.

Caro asks if she would give lessons to Lety. (Ouch. This is like buying someone wrinkle cream for her birthday.) They all cheer. Lety's eyelid twitches. They all line up on the stage, and Renata explains how to walk properly, how to move her arms and hips. Pointing to her cast, Lety says she's one arm short. Miss Veracruz says it's Lety's turn to show them how she walks. Lety gets spooked and wants to leave; Caro says they mean well, and doesn't Lety want to learn and show herself what she can do? Renata encourages her too, saying she herself once felt the same way.

Caro gets a phone call but doesn't tell us who it is. It's someone who is surprising her, talking about a miracle, and inviting her to something. The rest of the conversation is drowned out by the bellezas trying to get Lety to walk for them. She winds herself up and then, accompanied by that damn kazoo music, she walks. They all congratulate her, although the walk looks pigeon-toed (or whatever you call it when your toes point in) to me.

Lety and Carolina talk after the event. Lety admits that it was fun, but she'd like to never have to take any more lessons for the rest of her life. She's never going to learn to walk like those girls. Changing the subject, Caro says they need to get ready for tonight's outing, which will be a surprise. She was invited to a very beautiful place and so was her most important person, aka Lety. Lety tries to get out of it, but Caro tells her to take it as an order.

Lety asks if it's going to be something fancy. Caro asks if she brought an evening dress. Lety says she does, so Caro tells her to hurry up and change. Lety just stands there doubtfully. "Rapido," Carolina repeats. "Hurry!"

But the phone is ringing in Lety's room. It's Mom, wanting to know if she's coming home like she said, and telling her about the call from Fern. Lety says she couldn't quit on Caro, and as for Fern, "what did he say this time?" Mom recounts the conversation and asks Lety what's going on. Lety assures her mother that it's just a pretext for Fern to try to talk to her, and that she's sure she left everything in place when she resigned. Mom is still worried, but Lety says she's committed to her job with Carolina. If it's really that serious at Conceptos, Tomas should be able to work it out.

She ends the call and goes into her bathroom. Looking at herself in the mirror, she remembers Aldo's words: "when you can love yourself, you can love this man or whichever one you want freely; you will be able to love for real." Then she puts the plastic bag over her cast and has a fight with the shower nozzle.

Later, Carolina answers a knock at the door. It's Lety, but we don't see Lety right away; instead, just like in the very first episode (which I didn't see) and the one where she had her makeover with the big green jacket and the polka-dotted skirt, we see only Caro's reaction. It is a look of horror. Caro turns away quickly and says "it can't be, it can't be, it can't be."

"I'm ready!" Lety announces. Caro disagrees. Lety is wearing her sea-washed shoes, heavy black hose, a frumpy black dress, and a light blue sweater. (There was a similar scene in an Ugly Betty episode when Betty had to go to a swanky hotel restaurant in Soho; she wore her prom gown. And she didn't have a Carolina or a Salma Hayek to help her out.)

Lety can tell by Caro's manner that there is something wrong with her outfit. Caro starts off tactfully, saying "well, we're in Acapulco, and it's 2006, and I think that with this dress you're going to be very warm." Lety says she's used to sweating, but uses Caro's objection to try to get out of tonight's outing. It's the only elegant evening dress she brought. (Folks, this dress is not elegant in any sense of the word.) Caro offers to lend her something of her own. Lety reacts in terror. Caro doesn't back down. Lety says it's just that they have different styles. Caro says fine, so change your style, but Lety still looks stubborn.

"I'm going to be blunt with you," Caro says. "You feel out of place here, but you have to try to adapt yourself; it's your attitude that keeps you excluded. It's not a question of style. What do you say? Can I lend you something?" Lety manages a faint smile of agreement, but it looks more like she's just swallowed a bug.

Soon Lety is wearing sandals without hose (bare legs AND bare toes), something pink that doesn't look like something her great-grandmother would have been buried in, and a white shawl that's a slight improvement over the shapeless sweaters she usually wears. She's also wearing fancy earrings that probably aren't from her own collection. She frets that she doesn't know who they're meeting with; if you haven't figured it out on your own yet, it's Aldo. He's all cleaned up, wearing a white suit and that man-necklace from before. He's kind of hot, I think, except for the necklace.

Lety is impactada! And Aldo looks very pleased with himself. Caro looks from one to the other in confusion. "You know each other?" she asks. Aldo confesses that Lety had mentioned knowing Carolina. Caro is still confused; Lety explains that he's the dude who saved her from drowning. Turns out that Caro doesn't think of Aldo as a "fisherman," as Lety has been describing him, hence Caro's cluelessness. As Lety and Aldo share a warm handshake, Caro gives them a funny look as all the pieces of the puzzle snap together in her mind. Aldo explains that he's a fisherman among many other things. Carolina introduces him formally: he's Aldo Domenzain, internationally famous chef and he's in charge of the food and diet of the pageant contestants. Lety introduces herself formally as well; good, now let's get on with the party, that's what I say.

He kisses her hand. Lety looks stunned, until Caro kisses his face and says "good to see you, friend." Then Lety looks a little disappointed as he puts his arm around Caro.

They walk to the marina. Lety clutches her shawl around herself as she shuffles awkwardly in those sandals. Caro and Aldo walk arm-in-arm. Aldo says he's rented a yacht and they're going to float around the harbor while he makes them something yummy to eat. Caro is seriously excited, but Lety, the wet blanket, gets nervous. (AGAIN.) She's never been on a yacht. She's never even imagined being on one. She's afraid of boats. Sometimes they go down like the Titanic. Aldo promises that this yacht won't sink for anything in the world. (Um, Aldo, that's exactly what they said about the Titanic.)

Caro practically runs to the yacht. With some prodding, Lety eventually gets on too. As she clomps down the gangplank, Aldo laughs to himself and says "Leticia, I promise that this night will be unforgettable." (As a side note, folks, the book about the sinking of the Titanic was called A Night to Remember. I'm just sayin'.)

Carolina is enchanted and thinks it's incredible; Lety is seasick. (They haven't even cast off yet.) Lety asks if this incredible yacht has a bathroom. He directs her to the head and tells Caro that Lety is enchanting. Caro flirtatiously asks him if he only invited her, Caro, to this yacht in order to see Lety. He chuckles sheepishly. "You're interested in her!" she says delightedly. He doesn't say anything, just grins and chuckles some more.

Next week

Fern confirms Marcia's worst fears.
Lety is either king of the world or fixin' to throw up - it's hard to tell from the look on her face.

Does Aldo like Lety? Will the yacht sink? More important, what's for dinner?

There's no episode on Monday, so you'll have to wait till Tuesday night for the next episode. However, I'm going to post a little something special to make up for that. It's no big deal, just something I've been wanting to do for a while. Until then, happy holidays and feliz navidad!

Yolanda and the others in the dining room wonder where Angelita and Padre Miguel are. As Yolanda gets up to look for them, Angelita and Padre Miguel return to the dining room and rejoin everyone around the table. Alberto and Mauricio talk about their search for the angel children. Padre Miguel listens to them. Alberto is excited and is sure they will find the little angels. Matilde makes a comment and Rodo starts to laugh.

Ma and Pa talk in private about how to stay on plan and inherit everything from Matilde - they have to find a way to separate her from Angelita and Rodo.

Matilde talks about her son to Angelita and Rodo. She tells them that her son had spoken to her about angels. Angelita tells her an explanation.

In the apartment, Pancho is talking with Alejandra about the angel search. She doesn't understand; Pancho tries to explain; She wonders how they can find them; Pancho says that Padre Miguel can help. She starts to question the motivation of Alberto - Pancho gives Alejandra a compliment - they smile and laugh.

Rigoberto is with Padre Miguel in his church office. Rigoberto tells Padre Miguel about Pancho and the men who are searching for the angels. Rigoberto asks about angels, if they exist, if they can actually cure illnesses? Padre Miguel does his best to explain the answers. Padre Miguel walks Rigoberto out of the office and continues to talk with him. A voice from the statue says, "Finally, Miguel."

Nati is in the kitchen. Yolanda and Dad enter. Nati leaves to do some work. Dad shows Yolanda a paper that Belinda had received. He advises her of what needs to happen now. Yolanda assures her dad not to worry, she can handle anything. She leaves with the tray for Matilde.

Padre Miguel and Rigoberto continue their discussion, as they arrive at Alejandra and Rigoberto's apartment.

Pancho returns to the hotel room. He and Mauricio get into a heated argument. Alberto interrupts and tells Pancho about what they found out about the search and the business deal. Alberto and Mauricio needs to set a trap for Angelita and Rodo in order to catch them. Pancho listens as Alberto and Mauricio whisper to each other about using Matilde to trap them. They leave Pancho in the room alone.

As Yolanda talks with Matilde and Angelita, Rodo takes a look and whiff of the drink in the pitcher, he waves his arm over the pitcher, and serves the drinks. Yolanda becomes nervous and Rodo smiles as Matilde and Angelita talk about Alfonso and angels. Yolanda watches with baited breath as Matilde drinks.

On the town square, Sebastian walks with a local mariachi band. When Pancho approaches, they stop. The band leaves. Pancho tells Sebastian what he overheard Alberto and Mauricio talking about. Pancho doesn't trust them and thinks it would be a really big mistake if Sebastian believes Alberto and Mauricio. Sebastian doesn't believe Pancho; they argue. It heats up into insults and then to punching match.

In the kitchen, Ma, Pa and Yolanda talk in private - the poison didn't work, says Yolanda. Matilde has had no reaction whatsoever to the poisoned drink. They plot another way to get what they want and have Matilde under their control.

Later, Angelita finds Yolanda in the kitchen. Angelita questions her about trying to poison her, Rodo and Matilde. Yolanda denies all charges. Angelia gives her a warning. Yolanda smiles as Angelita leaves. Yolanda quickly gets dizzy, has a nightmare vision, and drops the glass from her hand onto the floor. Yolanda screams when she sees the bloody steaming welt on her hand.

At the restaurant, Alberto and Mauricio join the townspeople for Christmas dinner. Rencho proposes a toast to Don Alberto and his business interest in the town. Sebastian wanders in and sits down beside Alberto. Sebastian tells them about Pancho's commentaries and suspicions; Mauricio and Alberto also wonder if Matilde has made any possible business decisions. They will contact Matilde and Yolanda in the morning.

Nati is in the kitchen. Dad walks in and starts making critical comments about the ingredients being used for Christmas; Dad sends her out to find the right spices in his opinion. Nati leaves grumbling.

In the room, Matilde and Angelita say good-night. Matilde thanks Angelita and Rodo for their help. As Angelita leaves, Yolanda, holding the beverage pitcher, enters the room to check on Matilde.

Rencho talks with Casimiro and Alejandra as they work. Padre Miguel comes in and tells Rencho to stop work on the factory. Rencho can't believe the request, but agrees to do so and leaves. Padre Miguel speaks with Casimiro; Alejandra apologizes to Padre Miguel because she will not be able to work at the church anymore. Padre Miguel accepts her apology and wants to speak with her about something very important.

Sebastian lets Pancho out of jail. Pancho questions why is he doing it? Sebastian explains. Pancho talks about a beautiful angelic lady he adores (Rigoberto's mom). Sebastian laughs and talks about it with Pancho.

In the living room, Ma and Pa are very nervous and scared. Yolanda enters carrying the drink pitcher. Yolanda tells them nothing to worry about, she took care of Matilde. They are still nervous and don't hear or see Yolanda. Ma and Pa are still nervous and leave. Yolanda asks why don't they see or hear her? What happened? Angelita shows off her pair of angel wings and explains why Yolanda is invisible to Ma and Pa. As Yolanda begins to warp her shape, she screams.

Ma and Dad are very worried; Matilde enters the living room; they tell her they haven't seen or heard from Yolanda since last night and are very worried. Matilde tells them her hunch that Yolanda may be in town. She's young and in love. Ma and Pa don't think that is it. Matilde suggests going to ask Mauricio. They will wait for awhile to see if Yolanda appears. Matilde tells them she is having lunch with Angelita and Rodo today. Matilde meets Angelita and Rodo at the front door. They leave. Yolanda (now the phantom ghost) tries to pour Matilde a drink from her pitcher - Matilde ignores it like she can't even see it. Angelita and Rodo enter - Matilde greets them and they leave for lunch. Rodo gets hungry just thinking about chiliquiles (mexican tortilla casserole).

At the apartment, Alejandra talks with Rigoberto about his visit with Padre Miguel. She also knows that he is the one responsible for putting angels on all her clothes. Alejandra comments about her jobs and she is reducing her work load - Rigoberto asks, "No more late night work?" She responds, "No more." They smile and hug.

At the hotel room, Pancho antagonizes Mauricio as he does his tai chi/tae kwon do. Alberto has to rush in and break it up again. Alberto also reminds Pancho to cool it, they have a legally binding contract. Pancho is disgusted and questions Alberto's motives for the search. Pancho leaves - Alberto receives an important phone call on his cell phone. Afterwards he tellls Mauricio, "...There are three ways to kill an angel."

Pancho finds Padre Miguel at his church office. Pancho and Padre Miguel talk. Pancho mentions Dona Reina and Pedro and faith in the two special angels. Pancho asks if Padre Miguel has found them, or knows where they may be; Padre Miguel tries to deny it, but through faith and his eyes, Pancho knows that Padre Miguel is lying. Padre Miguel admits knowing Angelita and Rodo. Pancho asks if he will help them find Angelita and Rodo also. Padre Miguel comments, "if they want to be found, they will find you. If they don't want to be found, they won't be." Pancho shows Padre Miguel the emulet from Dona Reina.

Rigoberto goes to the restaurant. He talks with Casimiro, and returns the teddy bear. Angelita, Rodo and Matilde enter. Casimiro returns Gabriel to Rodo - Rodo is very happy to have the teddy bear again. Angelita speaks with Rigoberto. Rigoberto has another episode and faints on the ground. Matilde runs over the boy and picks him up in her arms - she knows about this disease because her son had it also. She looks at the boy's face and realizes that Rigoberto is her grandson!

She tells her she doesn't believe her as Liliana tells her she can judge her after she tells her about her life. She tells her of the affection that her daughter and Alejandro have that she couldn't avoid. Miranda asks her if she couldn't avoid it or didn't want to and she says both and Miranda calls her a cynic. Liliana grabs her as she's leaving and explains that Alejandro gives Sofia what she can't. Miranda asks her if she's in love with her husband. Berta feels lonely and calls out for Lucas.

Cesar arrives and tells her that Luis Alberto has disappeared. He tells her to be ready to leave town as he fears LA will talk. Liliana tells Miranda that her relationship with Alejandro is lawyer-client but she doesn't believe her. Miranda tells her she doesn't want Sofia to get hurt and explains what a father really means and not to use her daughter for her own personal needs when Alejandro arrives and learns they were talking about him. Liliana tells Alejandro what Alejandro what Miranda told her as he asks her if she was right and she says she doesn't know. He tells her he made it clear what he felt for her as she says if Miranda really loved him she would be fighting for him. He tells her she doesn't have to because she knows of her feelings and of his. He continues talking and tells her to concentrate on her case. Pamela and Luciano get married, and I can proudly say I was invited to that wedding by Luciano, (pictures below) Raul's family worries about him as he tells them he has bad luck with women. His father advises him to move on with his life.

Luis Alberto and Nuria ask Roman for his help as he reveals to them he thinks Cesar wanted to kill him but was able to escape by using a disguise and that he saw Lizania entering Cesar's apartment that night. LA tells them Lizania died in Cesar's apartment as Roman makes a plan.Cesar talks to Berta about Rebeca and LA. He also makes plans to have Alejandro see him and Miranda in bed together. Luciano tells Alejandro how Berta planned to use Enrique. He also tells him Miranda has 3 months to get pregnant or Berta will get his fortune. He tells him that could be impossible as he says he can work hard to make his fortune again but wants to save his marriage but is worried about Fabricio's interference.

Fermin cousels Vicente on Alejandro and Miranda's finances. Rebeca apologizes to Fernanda for believing in Berta. They decide to come together to beat Berta at her own game as Rebeca says she's already gotten started. Juan tells Veronica and Renata not to be so hard on Erica. Sofia tells Marisol (Yessica Salazar) about Alejandro's visit to her school. Marisol tells Liliana to get to Alejandro through Sofia.

Pamela tells her mother to help Miranda financially if she needs it. Miranda tells Alejandro to open his eyes, Liliana wants him, not for Sofia but for her own needs. Fabricio arrives and Alejandro tells him to leave them alone to talk. She tells him not to talk to him like he did as he says he's critizing Liliana but she's doing the same thing with Fabricio and walks away. Cesar asks Berta if she killed Alejandro's mother but she tells him cancer beat her to it. Juan offers Alejandro a place to stay as he tells him he'll stay at Pamela's until he decides if he'll return to Italy or not. Rebeca asks Julio for another chance. Cesar arrives and learns Nuria is missing and tells them LA is also missing. Berta tells El Guapo she never loses and he tells her everything she's done has failed. He grabs her and rapes her(well deserved)

Mundo de Fieras -Thursday 12/21/06 Another One Down, But Who's Counting?

Alone in Mariangela’s house, Clemente suffers a tremendous stab of pain in his head as he remembers all the nasty events that took place the night Jos and his wife, Miriam, threw him out into the street. After remembering every detail, Clemente is determined not to let anyone but Gabe know he has fully recovered his memory nor the truth about Jos not really being his daughter. (This is a sure sign Clemente’s time card is about to be punched.) He wants to protect Mariangela from her and Miriam. Gabe is the only one he feels can resolve things properly. He determines Gabe will be able to help him change his will so Mariangela will inherit everything (uh, didn’t he just say he remembered being dispossessed of all his wealth? Well, maybe his memory is still a bit fuzzy so we need to give it a pass.)

Gabe and Demian have just returned together to the office from the jail and Demian swears to his twin brother that he is neither lying nor deceiving him. (The old Demian is definitely back in the proverbial saddle—and it was about time, too!) He swears he had nothing to do with Little Lui’s kidnapping. El Coyote, he reminds him, admitted he did it as a personal vendetta. Gabe isn’t so sure what to think and replies that El Coyote was darned convincing when he was accusing Demian. (Doesn’t this man ever trust his first impressions?)

Jos, Karen and Miriam are strategizing in her office. Karen tells them she is certain Otilia was fool enough to believe all the lies she told her and will no doubt offer her that job. (Don’t bank on it, Karencita!) Miriam says it is very important for them to know every step she takes. They have to lie in wait and stalk her. (Enough already with the jungle metaphors.....) Karen mentions that Dolores was there outside Otilia’s shop and asked to come around again and Karen finally gave in. Miriam tells them that keeping Dolores tranquil by letting her visit with Karen is the best thing. Karen’s antenna goes up and she asks her grandmother what the reason is that they are afraid of her. What does she know about them? Miriam hisses at her to stop talking nonsense.

Dolores has a chat with Otilia about Karen and asks her to reconsider hiring Karen. It would give Dolores a chance to help straighten out the girl’s life by getting her away from Miriam’s clutches. Otilia warns Dolores that from where she sits Karen is just a mini-Miriam and not worth the trouble. Otilia then talks directly with Dolores and says she realizes Karen is not the reason she came to chat. Dolores admits then that after the trial proceedings the day before and their earlier chat, she is convinced that Federico did not kill her brother. Otilia agrees and says just between the two of them that she is certain it was Jos. She is angry and feels it is over the top that he should be taking the rap for her and there is nothing they can do for him. Dolores says there will be.

Regina is at the office and afterward asks Demian what happened with Gabe and what did he tell his brother about the kidnapping. He says he told him the obvious, that he had nothing to do with it. Demian tells her it is important she does not stop trusting in him because of a misunderstanding. Regina tells him he has changed and so she does trust him, but if she found out it was a deceit on his part, she would never forgive Demian. He just smiles at her with that “endearing” self-assured smile of his.

Mariangela gets a call from Leo and says her daddy is getting his memory back and figures the new eye treatment should also work for him. Leo tries to explain it is still something experimental. When he hangs up he tells himself he will never get over her so he asks his supervisor to let him work in the lab during the day. The head doctor warns him the lab is full of contagion and one has to be alert in there. He worries that Leo is overworking himself and is wearing himself out. (Hint, hint.) They agree to consider it later.

Paula is visiting Little Lui at the manse and has a severe cramp in her belly. On her way out of the house she has another and faints. Mayeya finds her a couple minutes later, lying on the floor in front of the front door. She calls Gabe who rushes over there and somebody calls her doctor to come over right away. (Doctors apparently still make house calls down in Mexico.)

Dolores returns to Demian’s house as Belen and Simona are leaving, suitcases in hand. Belen explains that although she does not want him to get into trouble (Why in the hell not?), they are leaving because the night before Tiberio tried to rape her.

Otilia congratulates Diana for having fooled Rogelio at the club the night before. (I remember her having him kiss her feet before Diana took her mask off and gave him the shock of his life. VERY nice touch, Diana!) Otilia suggests that now they know he and Tiberio are co-owners of that strip club, if Rogelio tries anything against her she will be able to threaten him with telling his daddy about it. They have a nice giggle at that.

Gabe has just left to race over to the manse because of Paulina’s fainting and cramps. Clemente heads out to the nearest pay phone with little David in tow, to call him and speak to him privately. He can only leave an urgent message for Gabe to call him back as soon as possible.

Diana meets Pedro for lunch and must let him down easy. She tells him she is dealing with too many changes in her life right now to think about love. I guess he will be going to study on scholarship in that foreign country after all.
The doctor tells JC and Paulina that her condition is very fragile and she must be extremely careful not to move around, and so on, or she will probably lose the baby. Upstairs at her bedside Gabe, Regina, and Demian are giving the newlyweds their moral support. (You know, every time Demian and Regina stand beside each other it looks like American Gothic gone urban; and Laura Flores’ costumer must have had her head on backwards! She is only missing the matching Jackie Kennedy pillbox hats with these ugly 60’s retro-suits they keep putting on her. All together now, can we say “STOD-GY”?) Demian shocks them all when he promises to exhaust all his resources to insure that her baby is born. (Show off!)

Jos complains to Miriam about Gabe’s accusing her of killing Edgar. Miriam advises her to keep Gabe calm and quiet by treating Lil Lui the right way. Jos whines that she cannot stand being anywhere near the kid and Miriam knows darned well that’s why she avoids him like the plague. (With this kid, I can’t say I blame her for wanting to steer clear of him.) Miriam loses it finally, and starts yelling that if Gabe decides to go back to court (to fight for custody) they will not have the funds to fight him. So, she had better well mend her ways or face the consequences. (From the look in Jos’s eyes, it could be Lui who may again have to face these consequences.)

Dolores waits for her Tiberio to get home and confronts him about attacking Belen. She asks if he ever thinks of the consequences of his actions. He tries to shrug off the incident and says if she is worried about his getting her pregnant, well she won’t be the first or the last girl to have that happen. (What a gross pig Demian raised him to be while you were in the slammer!) Ti tells his mother she got pregnant like that too, but she reminds him there is a difference between giving yourself over for love and getting pregnant from being raped. He swears he didn’t do anything to hurt Belen, and she can believe him or not; it is all the same to him. Dolores warns him that she’ll defend him and support him in most things, but she will not abide those sorts of acts.

Leo checks out Clemente’s eyes. --Regina and Pau bond at bedside. --Silvestre goes to the strip club and fails at trying to talk Elsa out of going on stage to pole dance. She goes up top and the crowd goes wild for her.
Demian and Gabe inform Miriam, Jos and Karen when they return home, that Pau is in bed upstairs and cannot be moved. She will have to stay. Jos is rude at first, but Gabe reminds her the house, although in Clemente’s name, is still his. (Slap! Swat!) Regina tells them she’ll send Dolores over to be her personal nurse. Though Jos is obviously upset, she backs down and says she’ll be “delighted” to host them all. There are plenty of bedrooms for everybody.

A bit later Jos overhears Mayeya and Cortito discuss the fact that Clemente is getting his memory back. Jos tells this to Miriam who says now they’ll have to get rid of him. She tells Jos to get the liquid, put it into his drink and make sure he drinks it all. (Jos gets to off somebody again and she cannot wait to get going!)

Mariangela leaves to visit Paulina after daydreaming about the first time she met Gabe. Candy comes to look after her dad. Clemente tells Cande that nobody can know, but he has gotten back all of his memory.

Mariangela and Jos exchange insults in the hallway before she goes up to visit Paulina. Miram goes into her bedroom safe and starts pulling out her various pieces of jewelery. They’re strewn all over the bed when Karen comes in and Miriam tells her she’s needing to sell them while times are tough on them financially.

Regina asks Dolores to take care of Paulina and hopes she doesn’t mind that it will be at Jos and Miriam’s place, because it means she will have to live there for a while. Everybody is staying over to take care of or watch over Paulina. That includes Gabe and JC, so Karen and Jos couldn’t be happier.

Candy makes Clemente tea, but finds no sugar. She leaves for a few minutes to get some. While she’s out, Jos sneaks in. She tells Clemente it is her and he becomes frightened of her. When he puts his mug down she puts in the liquid. She leaves and he drinks the whole mug full without realizing what she has put into his tea. (This stuff is odorless and tasteless, I guess.) Jos waits outside till it takes affect and then comes back in, washes the mug, puts more tea in it and leaves it next to him on the end table. He is dead but looks asleep on the couch.

Jos walks out the door and is standing there ready to leave the little yard when she runs into Candelaria coming back. Candy asks what she wants and Jos tells her she had regretted her past mean behavior. She has come to visit her daddy and wants to beg his forgiveness. Candy is surprised at this change in her attitude but decides to believe her. She goes in to see if Clemente will relent and speak with Jos. She goes in and sees him “napping” on the couch and goes out to tell Jos she’ll have to come back because he is sound asleep.

Mariangela comes downstairs and runs into Gabe. He walks her outside to say good-bye. They lament the fact that they cannot do anything about the way they feel since Jos and Mariangela are sisters. They hug and say “I love you” to one another at the same time that Leo walks up the drive with his medical bag to check on Pau himself. Mariangela walks away a bit uncomfortable to be seen like this with Gabe.

Jos comes back home and tells her mother that Clemente has ceased to be a problem of any sort now. She killed him.

Mariangela gets back home and sees her father lying on the couch. She has to look again because he doesn’t seem quite right. As she nears him she realizes he is dead, not asleep. She hugs him tightly and cries heartbroken again.

La Fea Más Bella #172 12/21/06 in which Lety enjoys the attention of a cute amateur psychiatrist lobster-fisherman in cutoffs.

  • Lety marvels at Aldo: "What a beautiful smile you have..." Without glasses, she squints thoughtfully and gratefully at him. He says they are like brother and sister now that he's saved her life. He has a ring around his neck very like the one she just found in the sand. He says, "I'm so glad to meet you, you're a beautiful person." He tells her to call him "just Aldo." She tells him she has another brother-friend (Tomas). Aldo says he has nobody close to him and she sympathizes: "It must be hard to lose the people you love." As they walk the beach, she says: "You're so agile and springy - I'm such a city girl." "Is that why you were in the ocean in your shoes?"

I want you all to cut Aldo a break, at least till he starts being a jerk. He's nice, cute, he's listening sympathetically, he's supportive, he's single, he's not her boss, and he's not engaged to anybody. What a welcome change that must be!

Aldo tells her she needs to give things up ("these shoes, for instance," pretending to throw them in the sea). Lety: "Did you renounce your family, is that how you lost them?" "Yes, my father had planned my life according to his own needs, which had nothing to do with mine. He got furious when I told him what I wanted to do." "Yes, I guess he'd be bothered that his son wanted to be a lobster fisherman, I mean, not that there's anything wrong with that, but there aren't that many lobsters, or, well, there isn't much of a future in that career." Aldo is laughing. Lety: "But was it worth it to exchange everything for your liberty?" "I'm a completely happy man." "You don't sound convinced." "How could I not be happy when I have all this?" (Gestures towards the ocean.)

"Tell me, living in a place like this, Leticia, couldn't you feel free?" "Yes, but I don't live here, my place is far away." "No, your place is the infinite universe." "No, I live in a tiny, reduced place." "Reduced to one name, Fernando?"

She scolds him for reading her writing in the sand, he reminds her she almost drowned and wonders if she somehow wanted to drown. Luckily, from there the walk and talk becomes lighthearted and silly and he dandles her shoes in front of her all the way back to the hotel where they sit very close and she tells him her entire tale of woe (I don't need to repeat it, since you all lived through it at length). It is intercut with sweet scenes of Fern mooning over her empty office.
  • Back in Mexico City, Fernando calls Lety's house and asks Julieta about her. His voice is respectful, sweet, and warm: "Can it be you've heard nothing? Will you please let me know when you get a report?" Robopop: "Why didn't you tell him she called? Since when does she play cat and mouse with this man? I don't like it at all." Tomas: "Is she still coming home today?" "Dunno, she hasn't called again."
  • Lety, in conclusion, boils down her problems to being the consequence of her ugliness. Aldo says if she loved herself more, she wouldn't have gotten to such a terrible place, and if she learns to love herself sufficiently, men won't betray her.

He flirts gently, looks searchingly and sweetly into her eyes [I have NOT abandoned Fern! I'm just trying to give the new guy a chance...], tries on her shoes when she says "You'd have to stand in my shoes to understand," and touches her hair, which makes her jump and yelp. He says: "I believe in you, you inspire me." She says he's given her a bit of confidence too.
  • The cuartel is reduced to wanly speculating about Lety and the various goings-on - it's hard to gossip when you have no information at all.

Irmita arrives. The cuartel pulls her in one direction, Luigi pulls her in the other. He finally has to swallow his pride and, for the sake of getting the story, goes with the girls to THEIR boardroom - which, he hadn't realized, is the lady's bathroom. Simon, who is evidently used to meeting here, consoles him. Irmita rehashes about her sad-sack ex coming home to die.
  • Marcia tells Alicia she can't pardon Fernando after all. She sits in her office, looks over the dreaded Carvahallmarks and stuffed animals, stuffs them back in the garbage bag, and then thrusts the whole lot in Fern's hand. She wants an assurance he did it all for business, not love - he stays silent. (Later he answers her question when he's alone in Lety's office: "I did it because I'm crazy in love with Lety.")
  • Fern's parents arrive for another meeting. Humberto tells Luigi he will have to continue taking orders from Fern. In the boardroom Teresita greets Marcia with sympathy and asks what they can do for her. "Don't blame yourselves for what's happened, and don't feel sorry for me."

Nobody greets Fern and Omar when they come in from the doghouse, our two big stupid shaggy beautiful dogs in deep doodoo. Silence.

Ariel arrives with two lawyers. He viciously mocks Alicia's carlessness and says he guesses she wasn't worth 500,000 pesos after all. He offers her his slimy friends again, then says: "Be sure there's coffee in the meeting room this time."

Humberto passes all the papers over to the lawyers. They note disapprovingly: Lety's letter giving up control of the business is "improvised" and also is not notarized. "Where is she?"

The parental units tell Fern to have Lety there tomorrow! The meeting adjourns. Fern asks Omar rhetorically how he is going to find Lety since her family is not talking. Omar asks: "Are you more afraid of facing her father, or your own?"
  • Aldo asks Lety: "What's the most important thing about you?" Instantly: "That I'm ugly." But on reflection she adds: "I'm loyal, honest, affectionate, sweet, and intelligent - though not intelligent in love. I like to help people." She tells how she loves to laugh with Tomas, they're like a circus.

Suddenly she asks what time it is and, hearing that it's noon, she jumps up, says she has to go back to Doña Carolina Angeles. Taken aback, Aldo says: "Doña Carolina??!!! What a strange world..." but Lety isn't listening and has already run off. Aldo murmurs to her back, "I myself once made the mistake of loving another more than myself..."

Navidad Sin Fin - Dec. 21, 2006

EPISODE 9:
Alejandra and Rigoberto look at Pancho like he's crazy, and wonder what is his problem. They walk away, leaving Pancho stunned.

Ma and Pa talk with Matilde in her bedroom. He tells her of the production problems at the hacienda factory - he wants her to sign over power of attorney for the business to him. Matilde asks why bother? she has no interest in the business. He explains it is a legal formality - he and ma show her where to sign. Nati enters and says that Matilde has visitors - Padre Miguel and her invitees Angelita and Rodo. Matilde is so excited she leaves with Nati, before signing anything. Ma and Pa are so disappointed.

Matilde greets Padre Miguel and Angelita and Rodo in the living room. She tells Angelita and Rodo they will be her guests there at the house - Nati is hesitant but Matilde insists. Angelita and Rodo thank her for her kindness and hospitality and leave with Nati to see the rooms. Matilde and Padre Miguel talk in private about her feelings and how similar Angelita and Rodo are to her son Alfonso - like he's giving her a sign or something. Padre is skeptical and asks her profound questions, that make her think.

In the square, Sebastian and Alberto are walking and discussing the business plan (where to build a factory). Alberto calls over to Pancho to join them - Pancho shows his new drawing of Angelita and Rodito and Gabriel. Alberto is happy and compliments Pancho; he asks Sebastian for help in their search for the children. Sebastian says that the best one to ask is Padre Miguel, he knows all the children in town. Pancho looks over and shouts to Mauricio and Yolanda about the boy next to their car. Mauricio and Yolanda look down and walk by Rigoberto to get to the car door. Rigoberto stands and holds out his hand for payment - Mauricio ignores it and tries to open the door - it won't open. Pancho reveals that the teddy bear the boy is holding is Gabriel - he thinks the boy is Rodito - Alberto is excited and asks Sebastian if it is true. Sebastian clears up the confusion by revealing that the boy is Rigoberto, Alejandra's son.

Casimiro talks and consoles Alejandra at the restaurant. Alejandra is in tears over Rigoberto's illness and that he is terminal and she can't do anything to about it.

Rigoberto is wandering through the cemetery. He starts to have another episode and falls down on the ground. Pancho rushes over to him - Pancho picks him and calls for help. Rigoberto regains consciousness and starts to weakly talk with Pancho. Pancho sits down on the ground with Rigoberto, and asks him if he believes in angels.

Casimiro and Alejandra are sitting at a table - Alejandra opens up and confesses her worst fears about her son's diagnosis and treatment. She wonders how she can accept it? Casimiro consoles and empathizes with her (his daughter died years ago).

Pancho and Rigoberto walk and stop at the grave with an angel statue headstone. They discuss angels - Rigoberto mentions all the paintings at Padre Miguel's office, and all the statues and markers. Pancho brings up angels that are living among them. Rigoberto and Pancho discuss how to find them.

Matilde sits in the living room talking with Padre Miguel, Angelita and Rodo. They discuss love from the heart, and Matilde brings up her heartbreak over her son's death. Angelita says she, like everyone else, will suffer from one major heartbreak in a lifetime. Matilde can't accept what Angelita is telling her, of which Padre Miguel agrees with Angelita. Matilde leaves the room. Rodo follows her into the hallway and gives her some wise advice to forget about the pain right this very minute and start to live and be happy again.

Pancho and Rigoberto walk from grave to grave, looking at all the flowers - Rigoberto tells Pancho what his mother says about the children and the flowers. They continue the angel discussion. When they stop at one grave, Pancho asks about Rigoberto's father. Rigoberto doesn't answer.

Yolanda returns home and escorts Alberto and Mauricio inside the formal living room. Yolanda offers that they stay there at the house while they are in town, and asks Nati to fix up the guest rooms. Nati refuses - the rooms are occupied by Matilde's guests. Nati refuses to say who the guests are. Yolanda asks where Matilde is; Nati says out of the house, but she doesn't know where she went.

Padre Miguel meets in his office with Sebastian and Casimiro.

In the living room, Alberto and Mauricio discuss their own interests in the small town of Pueblo Grande. Yolanda brings her dad in the room to meet with Alberto and Mauricio.

Angelita and Rodo are in the kitchen - Nati tells them of the list of things she needs to do for Christmas - Angelita and Rodo jump in and lend a hand. Matilde and her assistant/driver enter the kitchen. Matilde is happy and smiling with all the busy work. She tells Rodo and Angelita about donating her son's clothes to the shelter - she is so happy and excited for Christmas this year and her future. She starts to plan what decorations, flowers and other items they need for the holidays. Angelita smiles as Rodo gets so excited he shows his wings to Angelita.

In the town square, Rigoberto and Pancho sit on a bench. Rigoberto tells Pancho about his illness, treatment and all the visits he and his mom have had to make to doctor's offices and hospitals. Pancho tells him about the angelitos and the miracles he has seen them perform. Rigoberto is pessimistic that they will help him, and cries about his mom.

Casimiro and Padre Miguel are alone in the office talking about faith and helping the poor. Padre Miguel confesses that he has lost faith in people, and hasn't converted a single person in a very long time. Casimiro tries to energize him to continue his work and keep the faith, but Padre Miguel is disillusioned.

Rigoberto is at the apartment when Alejandra arrives with more medicine. She gives him a spoonful from one bottle. She notes his sad mood and he tells her about the attack. He asks her questions; she tells about believing in the angel of mercy; he thinks his illness is a punishment. Alejandra is shocked and tries to console and assure him. Rigoberto confesses all the lies he's told to her about how he's feeling, how well he really is, the attacks. Alejandra assures him that she loves him with all her heart. They hug. Rigoberto gets up from the bed and surprises Alejandra by saying that they will need to find the angels.

Still in the church office, Padre Miguel has his hands on his face. Casimiro looks over and notices a couple pieces from the chess game were moved around. Padre Miguel is stunned as he takes a look at the game pieces, and wonders if someone did it or if it was a sign from above.

Matilde and Yolanda's dad meet with Alberto and Mauricio in the living room. Matilde questions Alberto about the business deal. Yolanda and her dad help to explain and introduce her to the men. Matilde isn't thrilled and says she will think about it and leaves.

Sebastian meets with his associates about the possible plan for a factory in Pueblo Grande, if Matilde gives her approval. Padre and Casimiro enter the office; Padre Miguel gives his opinion on the subject. Padre and Casimiro walk into the hall to ask Sebastian if he moved some of the chess pieces while he was in the office. Sebastian says no. Padre and Casimiro discuss whether Angelita or Rodo did it or if it was divine intervention. The associates call out to Sebastian, wondering what they are discussing. Casimiro and Padre Miguel leave.

Pancho stops by the apartment and visits with Alejandra, about Rigoberto's illness and the angels. Alejandra wonders why they should believe; Pancho convinces her that angels do really exist (tells about Pedro and Veronica). Alejandra asks him to help them. Pancho and Alejandra hug.

Matilde sits down to lunch with her family, Alberto, Mauricio, Angelita and Rodo. They discuss Christmas preparations. Dad and Mom are skeptical of actually having anything at the house for Christmas because of Alfonso's death. Matilde, with help from Angelita, keeps her cheerful spirit and doesn't let their depressing pessimism spoil her mood. Alberto starts to give his opinions, when Nati escorts Padre Miguel in the room to interrupt. Padre Miguel and Angelita leave to talk in private. Rodo stands up to speak to the group.

Padre Miguel and Angelita are in a nursery playroom. Padre Miguel asks Angelita about the chess pieces and helping with the children's programs. Angelita becomes very profound and reminds him of his prayers for help and that there are many of them there to help him if he just opens his eyes and looks around. (Padre is in black with a white light shining on his face/Angelita is in the white spotlight.)
