Heridas Friday Oct 20
Cesar tries to make a move towards Miranda when she comes down the stairs, his mophead mother and Julio (so his PARENTS we have found out) stop him, saying, “what are you going to do?” Cesar says she can’t marry this imbecile. And why didn’t they tell him this was happening? Nobody knew, they were just invited for an important reunion with everyone, nobody knew. Alejandro says he thought this moment would never come, Miranda says me neither, they kiss and everyone claps. Cesar tries to push past his parents to get to the happy couple and make a scene, he threatens mophead “let go of me or I’ll forget you’re my mother” and then raises his hand to hit Julio. Gonzalo steps in and says no – he will not allow this Monster to raise a hand against his own father. Mophead screams “Gonz what did you do!” Gonz tells her that she should never let her son raise a hand against his father. Cesar is impactado of course. He demands an explanation from Mophead. Julio yells at her too, “answer him!” She just runs away cying. Cesar and Julio stare at each other, then Julio runs off to find Mophead.
Fab is thinking (I know!) – He is sure that Bertha was involved in the death of Flor’s German doctors. But why, he wonders? Slutty comes in. She asks Fab why he hangs up when she calls him? Fab tries to get her out, she says we can talk and starts talking to Flor to demonstrate that she won’t wake up. Fab finally puts his hand over her mouth to shut her up. Flor wakes up a bit, Fab says “nothing nothing go to sleep.” Slutty tells Fab she tested positive for AIDS, he says he didn’t know and he’s sorry to hear that. She says whatever, she needs money and lots of it. 50,000 pesos. He says he doesn’t have it, what do you want me to do? She says she doesn’t care, sell his soul to the devil, whatever, get the money. She leaves him there looking confused, as usual.
During the wedding ceremony, I notice Renata and Juan in the back looking like they are getting along just fine. Then Pamela and her mother, hello Pamela! Then Lasagna looking bored, then after Al and Miranda both say “I do” the priest does the “anybody here have any reason that these two should not be married, speak now or forever hold your peace” we see Cesar begin to walk to the front. He pulls out a gun and shoots Miranda in the back! “I told you Miranda, if I can’t have you then nobody can.” Then……. Cesar comes out of his fantasy and hears the priest finish up. The ceremony wraps up and everyone is happy and claps. Cesar approaches Miranda and says “I don’t know if should congratulate you or offer my condolences.” What an ass. Ha ha ha oh Cesar you’re so funny. She tells him to just congratulate her. He then goes to give Alejandro a hug. Alejandro looks as if he would prefer to have bamboo shoved under his fingernails than be in close proximity to this guy, but you know Al, he always does the socially acceptable thing. Cesar whispers to him, “I swear to you that you’ll be sorry, you will pay dearly for this.” Al whispers back, “I swear to YOU that if you do anything against me, I’ll kill you.” They stare each other down.
Next we see Cesar dragging Lasagna by her hair down some back steps to a private area. He calls her estupida and gets in her face, “why didn’t you tell me about this?” She says she didn’t know. They argue about it and he slaps her face a couple times. She says she didn’t want to come but her mom made her. Cesar then accuses her “you and your brother are against me aren’t you?” She swears that Al knows nothing about the two of them. He grabs her hair again roughly and says “I don’t want to see one single tear. One tear and I’ll hurt you.” She whimpers for him not to hurt him. Then Cesar starts whining. “I knew she would hurt me, she mocks me, tell my why Lasagna? Why? I want to be dead to end the suffering.” Then Lasagna STUPID STUPID STUPID girl, instead of running away from this basket case as fast as she can, says “no Cesar don’t be that way! I love you more than anything! Please believe me!” He says fine, he believes her, he whines some more and dumbass Lasagna plays to his craziness some more. He tells her to get back to the party, then come to his place later. Of course she agrees. He tells her to not be a bad girl or she will receive her punishment. Then he kisses her roughly and bites her lip again. “Get your shoes and get out of here.” Bah every time I see him acting like this with Lasagna or Nuria it pisses me off. It takes me back to high school and college when the assholes got all the hot girls. Ah well, that was a long time ago, at least one hot girl wised up and married me. I don’t care about the rest.
Al and Miranda are standing by themselves at a table drinking champagne. She tells him that he looks extremely happy, he says it’s because he has a surprise. He tells her about the clause in her father’s will (or wherever that clause is) that will make the documents that Bertha has worthless. He says they have to have a kid before the year is done… then it fades out and we don’t hear any more. Miranda looks somewhere between happy and confused.
Fernanda calls Gonzalo over and says that they need to finish their conversation, but Bertha needs to be there for it. He says she’s in for quite a surprise when she returns! Fernanda says there is something else…. Gonz says not today, I just want to think about my daughter. He is sad because he always thought he would be happier on her wedding day but she is with someone he doesn’t like. Fernanda of course says that Al is a great guy and will make Miranda happy. She goes on to say that a person remembers every detail about the day they fall in love but they don’t remember what day the love goes away. She asks Gonz if he knows when he stopped loving her, and don’t say ‘that night.’ He just looks at her. It is more and more apparent that these two will end up together again before this novela is over.
Flor finally puts two and two together. She tells Fab that the only explanation for her having a genetic condition that nobody else in her family has is that she’s adopted. That’s why she’s so different from her sisters, etc. Fab tells her to quit thinking about that, those are fantasies, then he correctly states that it doesn’t matter, she’s still Florencia San Llorente etc etc. She smiles, he actually said the right thing for once, even if he was lying about not knowing the truth.
El Guapo tells someone on the phone that Gabino has to be alone for the plans. Santiago comes out and El Guapo gives him some food, what a nice guy. He tells the padre that his name is El Guapo, the father laughs. El Guapo gives him a sob story about coming here to look for work but he misses his hometown, Santiago says that when he gets some free time he’ll take him back home. El Guapo says he’s going to love the little town so much he’ll never come back. Some scary music says that El Guapo will kill him, that’s why he’ll never come back.
Renata tells Lasagna that she has to get used to the economic reality of her new life, but she won’t ever leave Juan and she’ll have to figure out how to improve their financial situation. She wants to know all about Lasagna’s new flame but Lasagna won’t tell her anything. Finally she says “someone you introduced me to.” Then she gets a little psycho. “I’m the happiest woman in the world. Let me tell you something – he hits me!” She says this like saying “he buys me diamonds!” or something. She’s a freak. And not in a good way. Lasagna is off her rocker.
The happy couple and the non-crazy people are talking, they ask the couple about their honeymoon, Miranda thinks they are going to the hacienda but Al says he has a surprise. “Tell me!” “No, then it isn’t a surprise!” Ha ha ha. Then someone asks Gonzalo what he thinks about all this. “what can I say? They already signed the papers.” Ha ha ha some more. Fab shows up and announces that Flor is sleeping and the doctor let him go for a while. Then – “oh Miranda? Why do you look so pretty, it looks like you’re getting married!” “uh yeah, I just did.” Fab is impactado. Miranda gets all kissy face with Alejandro while Fab looks confused some more.
Julio demands an explanation from Mophead, before she can answer Cesar walks in. He goes down the list. “same eyes, same skin…” Julio swears he didn’t know either, Cesar believes him. Then he asks his mother, when were you going to tell? She says she was waiting for the right moment. When that would be, who knows. Cesar said “I was about to kill Julio before. Were you going to tell me after, you killed your father?” Julio agrees with him and says that Gonzalo was right to think so badly of her. They are really letting her have it. They want the whole story and they want it now. She says that when her parents made her marry Javier and leave Julio, he never loved her and she never loved him. Then it turned out Javier was sterile. Everyone asked them when they were going to have kids so they finally decided to have someone else father the kids, they decided on Julio. Julio is pissed at hearing this, of course. “You just used me as a donor? You could at least have told me!”
Fab the idiot confronts Alejandro about Miranda. He says he’s not afraid of Al, but Al says he should be. Fab says Al stole her away from him with his money, deep in her heart she still loves him (Fab). Al tells him that he’s a stupid kid and doesn’t know anything. Al says “you know what? I’m going to forget what you just said but if you say it again there will be trouble.” Fernanda comes up and asks if something happened. Al says “yes. Talk to him and see if you can talk some sense into him.” Fab tells Fern, “What do you think Miranda will say when she finds out about Al’s plans to avenge his father and that you knew about it?”
Daniel and Angel wonder why Julio and Rebeca ran off so fast. They discuss the surprises of all the marriages lately. Miranda approaches and says thank you for coming, I hope we can put behind us all the ugliness from when your father was sick. Daniel says “Yes we can, now that we know that he really was sick.” Miranda bristles. “We told you, do you think we were all making a story and only your other source told the truth?” Daniel says “Well, your father was in jail because of us.” Angel said “Yes, and you got Renata’s husband to help support your story.” They are accusing everyone of putting on a big show just to get back at them. Don’t flatter yourselves boys. So basically they still think that the whole thing was a production. Alejandro walks up. Miranda says “Who told you all this, that we just put you on about Julio being sick?” Daniel says “Cesar.” Angel agrees.
Francisco’s family dreams about having a place as big as the San Llorente house when Gonzalo walks up, introductions all around.
Miranda says it can’t be, Cesar isn’t capable of something like that. Daniel says that anything he says about Gonzalo is because Cesar told them. Miranda obviously doesn’t want to believe Cesar could do that, she’s so dumb sometimes. Al says this proves that Gonzalo was right, Cesar is trying to hurt him. Miranda asks the boys if they have any proof that Cesar told them this, they say no, but that’s how it happened. They say they could never invent that themselves. Al says “See? SEE?” but Miranda won’t believe it and they argue. She says another day they’ll get Cesar and she’ll ask them to repeat what they said, they agree and say that Cesar won’t deny it. She storms off. Al asks if Cesar asked them to do anything else, Daniel says they already told Miranda everything and the boys leave.
Gonzalo asks to speak to Francisco alone. Juan says “I’ll go with you.” I guess he doesn’t understand what alone means. Gonz says no, just your father. They walk away to talk.
Miranda and Alejandro argue some more. The details aren’t important, he believes that Cesar is evil and she thinks he’s a saint. Finally they decide that it’s their wedding day, smile, peace and love.
Fern talks Fab down. He’s all worked up about things and she talks and talks until he calms down. He still thinks Alejandro stole Miranda. Fern tells him that Al has decided not to seek vengeance. That calms him down a bit. He says he’ll talk to Al again to smooth things over. Then he tells Fern about Bertha lying about Germany, saying that she really went to New York.
Mophead says Gonzalo will pay for telling Cesar and Julio the truth. Cesar says no, it was only fair, Mophead was the one who told about Flor not being Gonz’s daughter, now they are even. Julio is furious, “Where was your head, doing all this?” He is holding his hand over his heart like he’s about to have another attack. Daniel and Angel are brought in by the servant. Cesar says how nice, if Fab were here, the whole family would be together. Julio says "Not now!" but Cesar says yes, Pandora’s Box has been opened, let’s get it all out. Angel yells at Julio, “What are you talking about?” Cesar says from this moment forward, he will not allow anyone to yell at his father! The boys are confused, obviously. Julio grabs his left arm, he’s having another heart attack I think. His brilliant trio of sons stands there looking at him like pendejos. Help him you idiots!
Gonzalo tells Francisco that he wouldn’t ever have agreed to the wedding of Renata and Juan; Francisco says they are old enough, what can be done about it? Gonz says they’ll never agree on that since Francisco has sons and Gonz has daughters, they’ll never see that the same way. Gonz says that they need to help the couple, Francisco says how? He has nothing more he can give them. Gonz says he wants them to come live at his house. Francisco is stunned. I’m discovering how often I type that someone is stunned or impactado. That’s the code for switching to another scene. “Ok, we’ll switch by having him look stunned, then go to the other location.”
Fab tries to convince Fern that Bertha killed the doctors in Germany. They plan to investigate further. They are now a team.
Francisco’s family wonders what is going on, Al and Miranda come up to them and offer a toast, Juan decides to find his father. He still doesn’t understand what alone means, I guess. Renata goes with him.
Daira tells Lasagna she’s being a bitch. “At least go congratulate him!” If she can’t shape up, she should go home right now. Lasagna whines “Why do you always take his side?” What a complete whiny bitch. She gets younger and more immature each episode. She sasses back at her mother and insinuates that maybe Alejandro isn’t her brother, but instead her father! Daira slaps her. Now I’m confused, she likes when Cesar hits her, does her mother slapping her turn her on too? Does it confuse her? She’s so wacky now I don’t know what to think. They argue some more, Lasagna says something about forgetting that Daira is her mother and leaves.
Turns out Julio is ok. Why is he ok? Because Mophead said “Calm down, you’re ok.” I think with someone who was in a #$%$#%@# coma from a heart attack not too long ago it might be prudent to get him checked out when his left arm goes numb again. Don’t you think? What the hell is wrong with these people? The boys start in on Julio again, “Why didn’t you tell us?” Mophead says he didn’t know, Cesar says yes that’s true. Things have to change now that they know they are brothers. Daniel says forget it, he’ll never see him as a brother. Cesar says fine, but he intends to make them a family. Julio agrees that they need to move forward as a family. Mophead whines about how she didn’t know how to tell them. Daniel says fine, but I can’t promise anything. Cesar acts glad. I’m sure he has an angle. Cesar tells Daniel that as his older brother he’ll show him things and together they’ll go far. Daniel says “Fine. Tell me though, why did you say that Julio wasn’t really sick and that everyone agreed to pretend he was?” Cesar has no answer as they all look at each other.
Francisco says it isn’t their business where the couple lives, they are a couple, just two people, there isn’t room in a couple for three or four people, they should decide for themselves. Juan and Renata come in, Francisco insists that they were just discussing politics and excuses himself, Juan goes with him. Renata says “What did you say to him? They are treating me very well.” Gonz says because they have to, not because they want to. Gonz asks why she married Juan, just to hurt him (Gonz)? She says no, because she loves Juan, that's why she married him. Gonz says that she belongs in this house, she should stay here. Juan comes and says “Let’s go.” She doesn’t answer and he says “I’m talking to you.” She can’t decide what to do.

La Fea Más Bella #129 10/20/06 Bittersweet
Omar and Marcia continue their conversation. Omar says Fern would never have proposed marriage to Marcia just to get her vote, and he's certainly not using her. Unfortunately he is not making any sort of eye contact with her while he's saying this. She asks Omar if he thinks that Fern really wants to be like him, free and unattached.
Omar says yes... but I wonder if he even believes that himself. He does seem to be aggressively unaware of Fern's feelings for Lety. In any case, his answer comes too easily. Whatever he truly believes, I think he is saying this to Marcia because it's the easy answer - it feeds into one of the things that's been motivating Marcia's fight for Fernando for at least three years. She thinks she is going to cure him of his womanizing ways. I don't know why she thinks this - after three years you'd think she'd know better by now. If she marries him, she'll be marrying the exact same guy who's done nothing but disappoint her for years. Oh well.
But it doesn't matter what Omar thinks right now. Marcia tells him he's wrong about Fern wanting to be unattached like Omar. (If only she knew how right she is!) She asks Omar if he will help her win Fernando back. He gets that mentally constipated look, like there's a ton of conflicting thoughts packed in his head and he desperately needs to squeeze one out.
Was that gross? Sorry.
Marcia nervously awaits the extrusion for about a half a second before she starts grilling him. C'mon, Omar, who's his girlfriend? Tell me tell me tell me tell me! She realizes that he can't betray his friend... yet two seconds later she asks him to swear to her that Fern doesn't have a lover! He tries to deflect the question, but she repeats it. He thinks to himself that he's going to have to pay for this in Purgatory. Um no Omar, Purgatory is for people who have souls, and I'm pretty sure Omar hasn't been able to see his reflection for years and can only be killed by a stake through the heart. He tells Marcia that in fact, lately Fernando's been the most well-behaved Omar has ever seen him.
(If you watch carefully, you can see Marcia blink right now. You might want to write this down on your calendar so you can tell your grandchildren about this someday.) She wants a more concrete timeframe. He says the last few months. She calls him a liar! He answers, "I swear to you, Marcia, there has not been one pretty girl around Fernando." Marcia says "then explain this to me... why hasn't he made love with me?" ZING!!
The unsurprised, blank look on Omar's face says it all. Does she notice? He says he feels her pain, but she really needs to discuss this with Fernando. She says it's been consuming all of her energy and patience. Omar says Fernando has been very busy with work: producing the commercials, preparing for Cannes, the Big Meeting... he's stressed out. Marcia says she hears these excuses when she talks to Fern every night, but her female intuition tells her he's afraid she'll catch him at something (I think that's what she said). Sometimes she feels that her entire life's mission is to marry Fernando. He flippantly says that marriage is not good for anyone. Marcia says something I don't get, and Omar turns away uncomfortably.
This miserable conversation continues over dinner. She says they've been together since birth. Their two families were very close - like one. She, her brother, and her sister were just little kids when their parents died, and they went to live with the Mendiolas and grew up with them. Omar says that Fern is almost like a brother to her. I say, ick, but Marcia said she's loved him ever since. He helped her deal with her parents' death. (Marcia's coral eye shadow is not flattering!) She says he was upset too, because they (her siblings) had invaded his life and robbed him of his parents' love. She felt she needed to protect him and be with him always.
She tells Omar to never forget what she's told him, whenever Fernando talks to him about his lover. Omar gets exasperated and Marcia says talking to him has been a waste of time. I tend to agree. No matter where Omar goes, no matter who he's with, he is the King of Rehash (except that one time with Luigi when he had to pee). He is not the guy to talk to if you actually want to make some progress. Poor guy! Augustin Arana deserves some type of reward for having to do so much talking with so little reward (other than snorting and drooling at hot chicks).
Marcia says we're leaving tomorrow; she's going back to the hotel. She leaves Omar alone at the bar. He says to himself, "Fernando... to think you're going to marry that stubborn stupid wild animal. Poor you, really!"
Later, Marcia and Omar meet with Luigi. She tells him he can't go back to Mexico yet. He says nonsense, he can give detailed instructions to the cameraman and all will be fine. Marcia disagrees, but Luigi says she's the executive, so she should be the one to stay behind in Germany to supervise things. Omar wants to know why is Luigi in such a hurry to go home? Luigi reminds them of the 90-second conversation they had a few months ago about him doing something for a benefit show with Yuri, the Mexican pop star. He says he's not eager to leave his boyfriend alone in Germany with all these futbol players, but... he puts on some attitude and it looks like Marcia is going to give in and agree to stay in Mexico even longer.
Meanwhile, back in Cuernevaca...
Lety and Fern are making out in broad daylight when Ariel approaches, arguing loudly with his neglected chickie-doodle who wants to know why he bothered bringing her here. I don't see a ring on her hand so she's not his wife, though I did see a ring on him recently. Maybe Ariel's wife is dead. Heh, he probably killed her. I'm hoping this guy ends up in jail so why not have him be a murderer, that's what I say. Or maybe she killed herself. I know I would. She married a guy who was named after a mermaid, for crying out loud. I'm sorry to say that I'm starting to develop a crush on him as well as Omar. Nothing (other than a big bucket of money) would make me happier than to see the two of them wrestle in their underwear. DO YOU HEAR ME, ROSY OCAMPO? I WANT TO SEE OMAR AND ARIEL WRESTLE ONE ANOTHER IN THEIR UNDEROOS.
Fern and Lety are too absorbed in their kiss to hear him; Ariel is so distracted by his anger that when he pointedly turns away from his date, he looks right through them. (Or perhaps he is only pretending not to see them!)
A moment later, however, they recognize his voice (still yelling at the little woman), saying did she really think he was going to ditch his business interests for her. They hide so he can't see them. She asks again why did he bring her here, and he says he doesn't know, she's right - they're going. He's got some things to attend to in the city now. She complains that she feels used, and Ariel says "that's your problem, not mine." He loudly announces to an attendant that he wants to leave.
Lety says "I told you I saw him!" and they argue briefly about that. :-) They are relieved - they know for sure he's not going to be around now, so they don't have to worry about running into him for the rest of the weekend.
Great! That means they can get busy now, right?
Wrong! My goodness no, they are decent people. They are not animals. They still have plenty of time left this weekend. There's no hurry. I mean, who the hell needs sex anyway. They've already been together a whole two times, why be greedy about it? The only thing they are getting busy with now is their lunch and Lety's worries. Fern wants Lety to forget about Ariel and her fear of getting caught, but she has difficulty with this and can't stop thinking about how Ariel is Marcia's brother and doom and gloom, end of the world. Next worry: he said he was going to break it off with Marcia when she gets back from Germany, right? He says right, that's what I said I'm going to do. Lety asks, what next? We still won't be able to bring our relationship out into the open, we'll have to hide it, and she doesn't want to feel guilty about that, about being the "other woman." And she thinks she doesn't deserve this happiness.
Fern protests, but she cuts him off. "Look at me. Look at what you have." She says she doesn't understand why he is interested in her. He says she is delightful. She answers that she is ugly. She raises her voice and says she's very ugly, always has been. He tells her he doesn't like it when she talks this way. She says she doesn't feel like she's delightful; right now she is full of guilt. She won't even be able to look her parents in the eye. They are so good and honest.
He tells her he's the only guilty one. He's a lying jerk. But Lety is not so easily deterred from her self-loathing; she moves on to her next sore point, Marcia. They're hurting Marcia. She's going to be so hurt when he breaks up with her. But, Lety says, their love is bigger than his engagement to Marcia... right?
He says yes, it's much bigger. She finally cracks a tiny smile at him. But then she goes back to her worries. His parents are not going to be happy with him if he dumps Marcia for the likes of Lety. Plus, she doesn't fit into his world. He doesn't know what she means. She says her parents are modest and simple - can Fern imagine her parents chatting with his? He says that her parents are much more honorable than a lot of the folks she is referring to. She agrees with him, and he is slightly miffed. She adds that she thinks she is not the woman he can be with. He rolls his eyes in frustration.
He talks about his childhood - his decades-long rivalry with Ariel, and the death of senior Villaroels. He says Marcia cried a lot, and he consoled her, but he was upset too because his own life was changing so much. The kids were heartbroken and his parents tried to make up for their loss. Up to that point, he had been accustomed to getting all of his parents' attention; when Marcia & co. showed up, he had to share.
He tells Lety about a particularly memorable party. (Cue flashback music)
The littlest mermaid - looking a smidge imperious even at the ripe old age of nine or so - is waiting impatiently for his remodeled family to finish singing a happy saint's day song around a cake. Teresita says "and now the gifts!" Humberto brings in a bitchin' new bike. Some of the kids flock around it in admiration, but Fern remains at the table, sulking, and Marcia appears to be keeping him company. The grownups discreetly exchange meaningful looks, and Humberto pulls Fern aside and asks him what's wrong. Fern says he wants a bike like that. Humberto says he'll get one on his birthday. Fern says he already had his birthday - is he going to have to wait a whole 'nother year? Will they buy him one tomorrow? Teresita shakes her head sadly and Humberto wags his finger. Fern wants to know why. Humberto says it's Ariel's birthday and he's not going to treat him differently. Then Ariel wants to play with Fern's favorite toy car, and Humberto makes him share. He actually takes the car out of Fern's hands and gives it to Ariel. Ariel starts shouting that he has a new present!
Young Fern whines and points out that he is his son. Humberto says yes you are, and I adore you, but now you have to share with the Villaroels because they've lost their parents. They have to make a family with them.
Teresita, wearing one of the shoulder-padded monstrosities of the mid-to-late 80s, agrees with him. Humberto tells Fern to go and have fun. Fern yells that they don't love him, and runs out of the room. Marcia follows.
Back in 2006, Fern says his parents were right, but he was so young and didn't understand. Lety tenderly wipes a tear from his face. The flashback continues.
Young Fern stomps into his bedroom, which is the size of the Padillas' entire downstairs, and slams the door. Marcia pounds on the door, saying she wants to be with him, but he yells at her to leave him alone. He says to himself, "I'm going to show my parents that I'm better than Ariel. He's not going to get anything else over me. Nothing!"
Fern tells Lety that this was the beginning of their rivalry. Lety takes Fernando's hand. He says (I think) that Marcia was clingy and needy and wouldn't leave him alone. Lety asks, how did he come to be her boyfriend? He says that as the years passed, she became very attractive, and he started to fall in love with her.
He says he's never discussed this with anyone before. He tells Lety to forget all of it!
It's nighttime. They drink a toast. They look at one another in their pajamas and think to themselves how wonderful it is to be together. He thinks about how her beauty fills his soul when he feels empty. He kisses her. ("Besame" again.) Yay! Finally! They kiss some more. In the next shot, they're nude. Wow! Magic!
They can get busy now, right?
Wrong!! Because Lety is crying. We can't do this. Not until... until he breaks up with Marcia. So they don't have to hide, she won't feel guilty, and can love him openly.
After the commercial break, they are dressed again. She says he's not going to love her. He says he loves her a lot. She asks him why. He says he knows it was difficult for her to turn him down. She agrees that it was, in such a special, perfect moment with so much desire. He says yes, with so much desire and so much love. She talks some more about guilt. Getting back to his answer why, he says she gave up all that passion in favor of her spirit.
She tells him her love for him is eternal; it is bigger than she is. He says that their love is very big; with her, he feels a very special, sincere kind of love, that he never thought he would feel. She says she loves him. They hug. ("Aqui Estaré" again. Snif!)
Fern falls asleep on the sofa. Lety falls asleep on the loveseat.
Caray! That's no fun, is it?
Psych!! Sucker!! They fooled me! They fooled you! They fooled us all!!! They totally do it in the pool!
Okay, it's a dream, but at this point I will take what I can get.
In their dreams, they meet in the pool. Lety has her glasses off and can swim. They are kissing, swimming underwater, their bodies are glowing...
Excuse me. I have something in my eye. I think it's the song.
The next morning, Fern wakes to see the bed still empty. He finds Lety sleeping on the loveseat and says nice things to her even though she can't hear him. He wakes her. They are in awe that they've had the same dream. She says she loves him. They kiss a bit but I guess they decide to leave it at that.
Fern gets home in a good mood, delighted with all that has happened. The phone immediately begins to ring. It's Omar. He accuses Fern of disappearing all weekend. Fern says yes, he escaped into another dimension of his life. He wants to tell Omar how wonderful and special it was, but Omar doesn't want to hear all this mushy stuff about the gargolita, he's worried about saving the business. Fern says don't worry about that, everything's fine with Lety, and he doesn't want to spend his Sunday talking about Conceptos. Omar tells him that Marcia told him all about that saint's day party and made it very clear that she's terrified of losing him. Fernando doesn't want to talk about it.
Fern sits in the chair by his bedroom window and looks out over the fabulous lawn. He remembers the look on Lety's face when he said he'd break up with Marcia. He thinks about how peaceful and happy he feels when he's with Lety. He would love to break up with Marcia and be with Lety. He picks up the phone and calls for Lety, but she's not there (she's at church; more on that later). He remembers the day of Luigi's Bella Life jewelry presentation, when Ariel threatens to take over Conceptos and dissolve the company if Fern and Marcia don't get married. Then he remembers when his parents were leaving for London; he and Marcia had been fighting, and his mother insisted that they make up before she left; she adds, "next time I see you, you'll be at the altar!"
In another flashback, he remembers how happy Marcia was when he agreed to set a date. He says to himself, "Lety, reality takes precedence. I can't cancel my wedding with Marcia, and I can't let my parents down - not with the wedding and not with the business."
Omar calls after his conversation with Luigi and mentions the Yuri thing. Fern says Luigi also needs to come back and work on the jewelry campaign for Bella Life. He wants to talk about how overwhelmed he feels about Ariel, and his parents, and the wedding, and Marcia, and feelings... he thinks he needs to make Marcia happy, because she's a little bit upset with him.
Omar says it's not just a little. She thinks they were born to be together, though, so he should be able to cheer her up within a few days (something like that). He just needs to get her a really great gift. Fern needs suggestions. What, phone calls, flowers? Omar says his imagination is too small. Fern says fine, I don't have the patience for this, why don't you come up with something. Omar just laughs.
RoboPop complains that it is Sunday and Lety's still not here. Lety gets home and cheerfully refuses to answer her parents' questions, saying only that she had a great time. She goes up to her room and works on a painting of some flowers. RoboPop complains some more, but Mom is just glad to see Lety so happy.
Lety talks to her painting instead of writing in her diary. Maybe the batteries in her light-up pen ran out. She rehashes the exciting events of the weekend and how wonderful it was. She loves him more than ever.
Mom comes up and says she's glad to see Lety so happy, and that it's time to go to church. (Lety is still wearing Friday's clothes. She did have time to change them before church.)
At the end of the mass, Lety turns around, which I was very firmly told not to do as a child, and recognizes some man in red who Amanda tells me is a popular TV psychic. She quickly faces forward, her face contorted in panic, but catches his eye guiltily on her way out. She and her parents approach a woman who is selling religious figurines nearby. Lety sees one that she'd like to have for her office, but suddenly gets spooked and wants to go home. As she rushes away empty-handed, she says something to herself like when she's free of guilt she can have a St. Judas for her office. I'm wondering, is she referring to St. Jude, the patron saint of lost causes?
She looks up, and the man in red is standing there holding the figurine. He says, "take it, woman. You are going to lose a lot."
Find some time this weekend to stock up on Kleenex and ice cream. A few pounds of each should suffice. At least to get you through Monday.

Mundo de Fieras - Friday 10/20/06
Dolorous Dolores appears out of nowhere in Miriam’s office. Miriam, Ingrid and Jos are shocked to see her there, out of prison, and dressed as a nun, to boot. Dolores makes it clear she’s been let go from an unjust sentence, and she’s returned to regain the love and affection of her brother’s only child, Karen, and to prove her innocence. Of course, Dolores defends herself against the label of murderer. Miriam and Jos barrage her with insults, reminding Edgar’s sister that as far as society and the law are concerned, she is still a murderess and that is that! Miriam then bursts Dolores' balloon by admitting Karen has never been told there even is an Aunt Dolores. As Jos (oh so tearfully) explains, “Why would anybody want to admit to a child that her aunt is in jail, serving a life sentence for murdering her daddy?” They hiss "murderess" at her and blame her solely for Edgar’s death and claim she is responsable for all the pain and suffering the family had to survive afterward.
In the meantime, Sylvestre nearly runs over Aurora as she’s trying to escape from the police. Apparently, being hungry after walking aimlessly through the streets for who knows how long, she took some food from a street vendor and did not pay for it. Scared, she runs into the street and BAM!
Leo brings the priest at a nearby parish some drugs to use for the children at the orphanage he deals with.
Gabe is pining away in his office over Mariangela when Nicolas comes in. During their chat Nico admits to him that each day he is more attracted to her.
Sylvestre tries to help the lady he hit (Aurora) and take her home, figuring that she’s not so badly hurt. After a bit it is evident that she has a bit of a memory loss and is disoriented, so he goes looking for Leo to examine her. When he pulls up to the taxi-stand, Mayeya recognizes her and explains that this is Mariangela’s missing mother. They try to locate Leo to look her over.
Gabe and Leo meet up outside Candelaria’s house and Leo warns him off Mariangela. Leo says he intends to marry her; he admits he’ll have to fight for her but in time she’ll come to appreciate him; and despite the fact that his mother has worked for Gabe all this time, if Gabe tries to take advantage of Mariangela’s affections, he’ll have to deal with Leo. Gabe nods.
Paulina prays to the Virgencita over JC and waits to see what Padre Anselmo says. JC comes home and determines the best thing to do is to forget Paulina and go away somewhere. He still is thinking about the supposed betrayal and simply can’t believe his mother was such a fiend.
Demento Demian enters Regina’s hospital room and while she’s asleep he tells her that he’s going to make her son and everyone around her despise and reject her as she’s done to him. In his maniacal manner he says that when there is nobody left to care about her then she’ll have no choice but to run to his arms and seek refuge in them. Then she will come to love him as much as he loves her. He bends down to kiss her and she calls out to Gabriel. This of course enrages Demian and he swears to destroy his brother and everything he holds dear.
Karen and Tiberio get together and she brags that she told Demian all about Pau and JC and he’ll be taking care of it all. Tiberio laughs and brags that Demian always does what he says, always. They go out then together and have a goofy-great time. (Now just what are the ages of these two again?)
Leo looks over Aurora and she screams in front of Candy, her daughter, and the others that she just wants to go home. They decide to have her stay at Candy’s for a while with Mariangela.
Miriam and Jos figure they can manage Dolores and that they’ll have to, otherwise she’ll find out it was really they who killed Edgar. Miriam is guessing that despite Dolores’s threats, underneath that nun’s robes, she is scared to death.
At the nun’s chapel Dolores tells the Mother Superior that she is correct to pursue her son and niece, but that she must be very careful with every step she takes or she’ll lose the both of them.
Gabe is still pining away and must admit to himself that Leo and Nico are both free men and Mariangela is free as well to follow after love. He on the other hand is stuck with the likes of Jos. To make matters worse, Nico comes in and hints that he’s thinking of trying it out with Mariangela.
Elsa comes back home and finds Aurora as well as Mariangela are now houseguests. Candy comes out of the bedroom and Elsa goes into a fit and tells off her momma and selfishly accuses her of caring more about these strangers than her own family.
Later, Jos and Miriam see Nico as he’s leaving the manse and he asks for permission to visit with Mariangela and perhaps go out with her. Miriam and Jos are secretly delighted and agree to this immediately.
Leo takes a pregnant woman as a fare in his cab but she goes into labor before they reach the hospital. Leo has to deliver the baby in the back seat. The woman is greatful and wants him to be a copadre.
Mariangela is outside of Candy’s house on her way to the market when out of the shadows Remigio jumps her and demands she pay him her debt. She says she still hasn’t got the money and of course he tries to force her to pay it off the old-fashioned way. So he attempts to rape her again. Just at that moment Gabe arrives, supposedly worried for her and her mother. He pulls Remigio off Mariangela but Remigio pulls a knife and cuts Gabe on the arm, warns them he’ll be back to collect one way or another and runs off. Mariangela and Gabe lock eyes as he admits he really just had to see her. They are just about to kiss but Leo arrives and purposely calls out to the two of them, rudely intruding, (Darn!!) and destroying this magical moment. (Watching Cesar Evora make moves on a woman is always magical, but I digress.)
Little Lui tells his momma that Leo has intentions towards Mariangela and she is glad to hear it.
Leo scowls, but the doctor in him kicks in again, and he gets Gabe inside and tends to his cut arm.
Clemente tells Miriam he’s thinking of possibly moving out and getting a place so that Mariangela will have somewhere to live. Miriam plays hurt and asks how he could think of abandoning his other daughter. He says he’s not abandoning Jos, but she does have Miriam and always counts on her for help, besides she seems most like Miriam. (Hmm....Oh well....)and he walks out the door.
Candy explains to Gabe in her little kitchen that Remigio was there to collect a debt from Mariangela. Gabe offers to pay it but Leo objects and says he’ll pay it. Mariangela says thanks but no thanks to them both, and she will be the one to pay off her debt . As she walks Gabe out they discuss Aurora’s possibly returning to the clinic and how Leo should advise her. He also mentions that Leo told him clearly of his intent to marry her. She’s surprised and when she goes back into the house she lets Leo know that she likes him only as a friend (the kiss of death for a guy!) and isn’t in the least bit attracted to him. She has no intention of marrying him. She’ll decide who she marries and when.
Demian finally returns home and finds JC moping on the stairs. Demian tells him he wants to make up for all the harsh treatment and JC admits he might have been a bit judgemental towards him. Paulina keeps calling him but he refuses to answer his cell. He doesn't want to deal with the horror of their situation. JC and Demian agree to act decently towards one another and hug. Tiberio returns to the house and is about to enter the room when he overhears this conversation from behind the door in the hallway. (He is no longer such a happy camper.)
Gabe drives back home and then sits in his office, upset at himself for his funky mood. He thinks back to the dinner his wife prepared for him and how ungrateful he was towards her. He agrees that his wife was right and he should give the marriage another try. He’ll always feel guilty if he doesn’t at least make one last effort to save it.

Mundo--Thursday, October 19
Jocelyn continues her attempted seduction of Gabriel. He stumbles out and then she starts caressing the table and thinks to herself there must be another woman.
JC is with Karen at the hospital. She starts needling him about Paulina. She ‘apologizes’ for her behavior in Barcelona.
Leo and Mari are giggling (well Leo is—Mari just looks like she’s trying to be polite). In the background we see Elsa sneaking back to the house.
Paulina is crying on her bed, telling herself that she can’t imagine seeing JC with another woman.
Simultaneously, JC is thinking that he’s can’t and, moreover, doesn’t want to give Paulina up. He runs his hands through his hair.
Demian visits with the motorcycle guy, Coyote, we saw earlier and lets him know he gets one chance to get jobs done right and the consequences are pretty serious. (Okay this is funny, because this guy’s name really is Coyote---I didn’t know that when I made the Wile E Coyote comment).
Jocelyn & Miriam are having breakfast. Miriam is criticizing Jocelyn. Jocelyn returns the favor, telling her she’s a wonderful professional, but a terrible mother who never showed any affection (I thought this was what therapy was for). Miriam falls back to the usual line…but I did it all for you and to give you a great life, besides who are you to talk…you’re so obsessed with Gabe you don’t give your kids any attention either. Oh, Jocelyn adds, that--that’s your fault too. Well, Miriam’s had just about enough and tells her that she has no idea what she (Miriam) has done in her life to get to where she is now. Miriam continues, She has one life and she’s not going to miss out on anything, nor does she have any regrets. Her final motherly advice is: If you are intelligent, you would do the same. She stomps off.
Candelaria and Mari are doing laundry with a bunch of other ladies, we hear mariachis and everyone else is calling out funny comments…just your typical day of laundry. Leo comes up and gives her some flowers (he has the goofiest look on his face, so you know he’s going to get his little heart broken). They receive news about the big explosion that killed Chacal.
Miriam has stormed back to her room. Muttering to herself about taking care of the situation right now, she gets something out of the safe.
Karen is turning her claws to Paulina. She tells her about seeing JC and that she really likes him (ugh) and she knows Paulina will understand. As a “peace offering” she invites Paulina out so they can become better friends.
Jocelyn has returned to her room and is thinking about her mom’s advice. Miriam has come in to “make peace”. She gives Jocelyn a diamond necklace and reminds her that aside from being mother and daughter they are also friends and share a lot of secrets. Jocelyn leaves the box open on the dresser and Karen spies it and tries it on.
Gabriel and Demian discuss JC & Paulina. Demian will never allow this relationship, but since Gabe knows the truth about Paulina, it doesn’t bother him quite as much. Demian shares his suspicions about Gabe being JC’s dad and Gabe can’t believe that D would talk about Regina like that since she’s such a great woman. Demian ends the conversation saying he doesn’t want Paulina anywhere near JC.
Karen’s plans come to fruition. She is with JC at a restaurant and in walks Paulina, not know that JC is going to be there. They are sitting uncomfortably and JC decides to leave…he hadn’t know that Paulina was coming. Karen pretends she doesn’t know what’s wrong…they are cousins, after all, and should become friends. JC leaves, telling Paulina that he loves her. Karen tells Paulina that she had the ‘best intentions.’ The waiter delivers a note and rose from JC. JC & Paulina kiss, Karen stomps off. JC suggests that they run away, Paulina’s not so sure. Things are looking happy, JC goes to visit his mom.
Miriam is at work and has now hired Giorgio to be both a model and her personal assistant. She promises him a great future. Elsewhere, Soraya sees the TV interview and realizes that that’s her son…Jorge.
Jocelyn finally finishes her preparations, goes to put on her diamond necklace and notices that it has gone missing. Uh oh. She accuses Mari and tells her to leave the house. Luisito starts up with his whining. Gabriel walks in and dismisses the accusation against Mari. Luisito looks at him with adoration. Gabriel suspects that Jocelyn set this “theft” up to try and get rid of Mari.
At the Alzheimer’s home, Clemente & Aurora are chatting outside. Clemente is telling her their story. We see flashbacks of them young and in love. Aurora is happy.
We see Karen stewing in her car, promising to separate JC & Paulina. She goes to visit Regina and meets up with Sr. Dolores who realizes who she is. Karen, of course, is clueless and still twirling her hair. Rogelio shows up and also asks to Regina. It’s not possible for either one to see her so they start chatting and go to have some coffee. Dolores is happy-her son and her niece—cousins (that’s a nice symmetry).
Jorge’s mom is telling someone how excited she is to have found him. Miriam is showing Giorgio the ropes at the office.
Back at the Alzheimer’s place, Aurora has fallen asleep and when she wakes up is disoriented. She wants to go to her house and heads for the wall. We see her wandering around. The hospital staff has noticed she is missing….the doctor is chastising everyone.
The maids are tearing the house apart in search of the necklace. Jocelyn tells Gabriel that she called the police. Karen calls and tells them she has the necklace. Gabe doesn’t even have to say I told you so. He makes Jocelyn tell the police that the necklace was found and wants her to apologize to Mari. Like a five-year old child, Gabe leads her to Mari and says…we are waiting…she apologizes. Mari receives the phone call about her mother’s disappearance.
In the hospital cafeteria, Rogelio & Karen are having their coffee. Rogelio is leering and Karen is twirling. They plan to tell Demian everything about JC.
Leo is telling JC that Regina is better and just needs to stay calm. JC says that’s unlikely in his house with Demian. For some weird reason, Leo tells the story of being abandoned at birth…
Jocelyn goes to Miriam’s office to update her on Jocelyn’s really bad day. Jocelyn is excited that Mari is suffering because of her missing mother. Miriam invites her to work with her but Jos isn’t sure, since that would leave Mari ‘in charge’ at home.
In assorted ‘set-ups’ for tomorrow: Gabe, Mari & the assistant look for Aurora. Demian & Karen meet. Paulina prays. Dolores shows up at Miriam’s office. Demian tells JC that he and Paulina aren’t cousins, they’re siblings.
