La Traicion, Tues., March 25 -people get ready, there's a train a-coming and Hugo's aboard!

Not a lot happened in this episode - just setting things up for the birth that will probably happen tomorrow.

We pass the remaining three month of Soledad's pregnancy. (She barely looks 6 months pregnant, much less 9 months). During this time, the Mysterious Lady (ML) show gets back in business thanks to Paquito. Elena smashes Guillermo's violin and he walks out on her. He is mobbed by beautiful ladies during his performances.

Rebeca scolds Eloisa for having an affair with Paquito behind her back and Eloisa says that once she marries Arturo, she won't see Paquito again. Rebeca warns Eloisa that Arturo is a violent guy and if he finds out she is cheating on him with Paquito, he'll cut her throat.

Arturo refuses to bail Hercu-less out of prison after the tavern fiasco but Hercu-less writes an appeal to Gladis, his mother, and she defies Arturo and hires him as her coachman & companion.

Ester throws Lucas out of her bed and they behave so strangely to one another in the house that Soledad is afraid to ask what is going on.

Dr. Max sobs over a picture of his dead wife and promises that he will succeed in bringing them together again and for this he needs Soledad's baby.

Antonia apologizes to Soledad about supporting Dr. Max's decision to abort her baby. However, once she is outside Soledad's room, the evil Antonia takes over and once again she says that Soledad will suffer unless the baby is taken from her. Antonia suggests to Ester that the baby should be put up for adoption but Ester says that she would never do that to her daughter. Dr. Max overhears this conversation and he tells Antonia that he agrees with her that the baby should be taken from Soledad. The baby will probably have physical and mental problems. If they work together, they can prevent another tragedy. Dr. Max will say that the baby was born dead and Antonia will make sure that he continues as Soledad's doctor. Dr. Max promises Antonia that the baby won't be harmed. If it is a boy, he'll leave it at a seminary. If a girl, a convent. To make sure this happens, Dr. Max has run the other doctor out of town.

Meanwhile, team Hugo is travelling back to the city. Hugo tells Marina that he doesn't love Soledad any more but he has to make sure that his nephew does get buried alive during an attack of catalepsy. Before boarding the train, Hugo dreams about his mother. He tells himself that he is helping Soledad so that she doesn't suffer like his mother did (You might have thought about that before you got Soledad pregnant, Hugo.) Hugo says that he will help Soledad but he won't forgive her betrayal.

During the journey, Boris makes arrangements for a closed carriage to take Hugo to the hotel when they arrive at the capital. However, Dr. Chirac has telegraphed Dr. Max about his arrival. He tell Hugo that he can use Dr. Max's laboratories. Hugo tells Dr. Chirac that that was a mistake. Dr. Max is not trustworthy. This necesitates a change of plan. They will all go to San Marino.

Since Paquito has bribed a person at the telegraph office to give him copies of all incoming messages, he writes a story about the arrival of Dr. Chirac. Rebeca decides she wants to be photographed with him as the ML. Soledad also hears about Dr. Chirac's arrival and she impulsively decides to meet him at the train. She has a premonition that Dr. Sirac is the only one who can help her.

Guillermo takes Margot to the Hacienda and tells Elena that he wants to buy it and that he and Margot are engaged. It's not true but Elena chases them out of the place with a shotgun. Later Guillermo gets a note from Elena saying that he has made her sad and she is going to throw herself in front of a train. Guillermo goes to the tracks and diverts the train from the track where Elena is.

It turns out that there is trouble on the San Marino track and the train won't stop there. Hugo and everyone on the train will have to get off at the capital. Soledad and Ursula arrive at the train station. An employee tells her that Dr. Chirac is not an arriving passenger at that station; he's going to San Marino. Soledad is upset that all their effort was for nothing but Ursula wants to ask someone else at the Station. She goes inside and Soledad sits on a bench. Out comes Hugo cleverly disguised with little sunglasses and they look right at each other.

Tomorrow - Our worst fears are realized - Hugo wears his hair like Alcides! Oh yes and Soledad goes into labor.

Pasión 03/24/08: “Vengeance Is Mine” Sayeth Santiago and Lisabeta

In her prison cell Cami and Saintly Santi are still arguing over Ric’s fate and Saintly’s honor bound duty to report his sorry backside to the authorities for piracy on the high seas. Cami is certain Santi wants to report Ric as a means for vengeance on his part, though Saintly insists that he has to report Ric only because she was tricked into living in sin with the deceitful SOB. In the end Cami pleads for mercy from Saintly and she promises to break if off completely with Ric if Saintly will promise not to turn Ric in to the authorities after all.

Saintly who, at this point is apparently suffering from one hell of a Gawd-complex, relents and agrees to this, as long as Cami leaves Ric and sends him away, AND as long as Ric agrees to give her up. (If Saintly Santi believes for one minute that he can actually force “El Antillano”, such a ruthless, thieving, murdering pirate from Hell, to put up with this sort of self-righteous, supercilious malarkey, let alone Antillano having his ex-rival separate him permanently from his WOman this way, Santi has got to be delusional.) Cami gets up off her knees, sobbing inconsolably and Santiago, like some father doling out punishment to a child, tells her he knows that she hates him right now but she will thank him for it in time. (Am I the only one hearing fingernails scraping a chalkboard somewhere?) She can only cry and nod as he pats her shoulder and leaves her to her punishment.

At the Palace Mancera that night, Sofia and Jorge discuss the outcome of Lis’ lawsuit and Cami’s fate. Jorge says it was to be expected. (Well, if your pal Al hadn’t continually forced the hand of the judge in Lis’ favor, perhaps not so much.) Sofia says it’s just so unfair and Jorge says he had no input in the matter, that the judge handled all fairly and squarely to the letter of the law. “What a bitch that Lis is,” says Sofia. Jorge quickly agrees but insists that what’s done is done and that’s the way it is. Sofia mimics him in frustration, “That’s the way it is! That’s the way it is!” So Jorge warns her she’d better stay out of it because it…er… might be very embarrassing for Sofia to find herself being refused something by the guards or the civil authorities.

Talk turns to Uriel and Ursula’s relationship. Jorge wonders how the two are getting along. Sofia says she’s not sure, but she didn’t much care for Uriel’s spiteful gossip the other day about Ric possibly being some sort of pirate. Jorge plays the sympathetic dolt again and nods.

Across town Vasco and Ascanio are chatting in Justo’s house when Ines comes in and says that she didn’t want to tell Justo, when she was giving him his bedtime tea, about Lis’ petition to have Cami put under her care as a bail precaution. Justo appeared to be very nervous already anyway. Ascanio explains they were talking about Santi and Vasco mentions that Santi’s hatred toward Ric is personal since he cannot stand it that Cami stopped loving him for another man. Ines naively defends her brother and insists Santi is only upset that Cami has been living in sin all this time. (This and an American greenback at today’s exchange rates might just buy you a cup a coffee…..) Ascanio suggests that if Santi is so set on demonstrating his evangelism that he should remember that Christ forgave those who sent him to be martyred. (You got to love the cool head on this guy’s hunky shoulders, not to mention the apparent religious education he must have gotten from those monks that has apparently stuck.) He leaves then to tell Jimena that the two of them have no worries now of being sent back into servitude.

When Ascanio is gone Ines turns to Vasco and warns him to mend his ways or Justo will never forgive him. He asks if she has yet but she says nope. He’s still in the doghouse and that she is sleeping in Paco’s room tonight on a cot.

On La Salamandra the next morning Mario tells Ric they’ll be arriving ahead of schedule as the wind is favorable. Ric gives Mario instructions to divide up the money from Foreman, take what they owe towards Cami’s debt and then give the rest to the pirates’ families at La Iguana. Mario laments that Ric is in love again. Mario advises Ric that falling in love isn’t good because it makes them vulnerable and besides, love is painful. Ric replies, “Yes, but one doesn’t choose when, how, nor with whom.” Ric tells Mario that just because he got hurt once doesn’t mean that all women are the same, but Mario says he prefers not to take the risk. Ric wonders if Mario has children or if not, doesn’t he at least miss his family?

Mario teases him about breaking the rules of the fraternity by asking, but Ric says hey, they’ve been doing that together for years already. They’re brothers and he knows Ric’s whole life story by now. Mario answers that he doesn’t think he has any kids. Ric says he remembers Mario’s father is supposed to be a soldier in some prison…”Valladolid” but Mario insists he has no desire to see the man again. “Why, so the guy can hang me for piracy?” he laughs bitterly. “—One more reason for us to retire and change our lives,” says Ric. “—I don’t think that I could handle it,” muses Mario.
=============

Back in San Fernando Jime and Ascanio are on their way over to the prison to visit Cami. Ascanio has told Jime that he quit his job working for Santiago due to their disagreement. Jime thinks it was foolish because Santi wouldn’t have taken it out on him, but Ascanio says that even so, it was a matter of self-respect since he disagrees with the way Santi has treated Camila. Jime scoffs at the way men are always hassling themselves with the idea of “dignity.” Just then Ursula and Uriel go galloping through the plaza. Jime asks what’s up with them now. Ascanio says he’s Ursula’s latest in husband material. Jime hopes that means she’s forgotten about Vasco and Ascanio says “God willing.”

Jime and Ascanio enter the prison cell and greet Cami with lots of hugs and kisses. Cami asks them if they know that they don’t have anything to fear about returning to servitude again, They tell her they know and that’s why they’ve come to visit her. She confesses to them then, in tears, what she had to promise Santi in order to keep him from turning Ric in to the authorities. Jime says she’s crazy if she thinks Ric will ever agree to that, but Cami insists he will if she asks him to. Jime looks at Ascanio who again cannot believe what he’s just heard come out of Cami’s mouth.

Across town at Frankenstein Mansion, Lis and Fran are packing up to leave. Mannie says she was worried Lis and her father had had an argument, but Lis says he actually approves of the idea. Once Mannie has left them Fran mentions that Mannie had bruises on her face and Lis asks if Al had beaten her perhaps. Fran covers her apparent mistake and says she doesn’t think so, that the girl probably just fell. Al comes to take them over to Cami’s former house.
After they arrive to take possession and move in, and while the servants bring in the luggage, Al tells Lis and Fran that next week they will be formally signing their marriage contract. Lis says fine, but she’s not going to have any party because she’s uncomfortable about the business with the inheritance. Al is a bit impactado to hear this and figures this would be rude considering Jorge and Sofia will be present, but stops himself short. He says they’ll discuss that later on once the papers are signed. Lis gets goosebumps as he whispers good-bye in her ear saying that he’ll be by in the evening to see her again.
=========

Ascanio visits Santi just long enough to tell him he’s quitting and that he also knows about the pact Cami made with him. He doesn’t agree with it or, with how unhappy Santi has made her just because he doesn’t like Ric and does not choose to believe Ric’s side of things. Santi says if Cami stays with Ric she won’t be just unhappy, she’ll be disgraced and her life will be in danger as well. Ascanio says true, but anyway he’s still quitting because Santi no longer trusts him over the reason he stayed quiet. It was simply because of his loyalty to Cami and because he felt he owed Ric since he had contributed in part to his hard knocks.

Back at the prison, Cami tells Justo and Ines that she’s decided to break it off with Ric and send him away for good. Justo says Ric deceive them and it’s best she does this before the whole town discovers her (and no doubt, the Dariens’) “shame.” Cami adds, though, that now she will not accept Ric’s paying off her debts. Justo is mighty impactado to hear this financially cumbersome change of events because it means she’ll be in jail for years. (Can’t have it both ways, Justo. Ric is either a very rich saint of an SIL or an SOB of a sinner.) He agrees and says the family will find some way to get the money together.

Afterwards Justo goes to the palace to discuss all that’s been happening with Sofia. Justo tells Sofia the business about Cami’s new bond arrangement with Lis. Sofia commiserates and says that she already knew about it, but that according to Jorge it was all done according to the law and that they cannot is intervene on her behalf. She recommends being patient and waiting for Ric to return home. Ric will certainly buy her back from Lis and give her her freedom, so, problem solved. Justo just grunts and, it seems, doesn’t dare tell her what he knows about Ric’s true identity nor that he doubts any of this will take place, considering.

Outside the jail a few of the guards take Cami hand-tied over to what is now Lis’s house. Justo comes out of the palace at the same time and walks over towards his daughter, but the captain of the guard prevents him from accompanying her to the house because now that she’s a servant he says she does not have the right to even speak if she’s not authorized too. (That makes her less in rank socially than even that sad, saucy gossip, Clothilde!!)

The townsfolk are incensed to see Justo and his daughter being treated this way and start throwing things at the guards. Justo screams back at the captain of the guard through the noise that he’s still a free man and can walk through the streets anywhere he chooses to and nobody can stop him! Then he yells in Cami’s ear that he just spoke with Doña Sofia but she has said that nothing else can be done for her. There’s a great tug of war between the guards and Justo over Cami. The captain screams at Justo and the crowd that this is the law and he’s only following orders, so if any of them continue to interfere he will put them in jail.

Meanwhile, El Chino and La Paisana come out from the inn and watch with their mouths open as Cami is being dragged through town to Lis’ and are disgusted at the way she’s being treated. The two agree that Paisana should go to Antillano’s house to get someone there to get word to El Antiano and tell him what has happened to Cami.

The guard drops her off inside the courtyard of Cami’s house and Clothilde is there to take charge of her. The captain says he’s putting a guard out front to make sure she doesn’t escape and suggests they take measures inside to do the same. Clothilde takes a cruel delight in telling Cami that Lis has put her in charge of Cami and in short she’ll be working from sunup to sundown. She tells Camil she’ll have to change into dowdy duds and will also have to sleep in the storeroom since she and Candida share the only other bedroom.

Cami insists that Clothilde is not to address her informally (“tutear”) because she always treated Cloe with respect and now demands that she do the same with her. Cloe reluctantly agrees, then Cami adds angrily that she prefers the storeroom and not to bother showing her the way as she certainly has not forgotten that she used to own the place and stomps off to get cleaned up.

El Chino visits Jorge at the palace and they discuss their business arrangements. El Chino tells him he’s got to get back to the hideout to get his merchandise ready for transporting into San Fernando. Jorge takes the opportunity to grumble about his friends all leaving him alone these days while they have developed various new relationships and marital obligations. Time was he says when they all used to get together there in the palace or the local whorehouse and party hardy but no more.

El Chino asks about his family and Jorge tells him he has a family including a bastard son who is the local blacksmith but who, because of certain “problems” in the past, refuses to accept his formal recognition. El Chino seemingly notes that Jorge has a family in name only and Jorge doesn’t seem to take any comfort or pleasure in it. Jorge mentions then that his son is lame from a former injury. El Chino tells Jorge that in his culture there are people who can cure the lame with needles (acupuncture). He describes the method to Jorge who then tells El Chino that if he brings him someone who can cure his son he will pay him anything he asks. El Chino agrees.

At Ric’s, JImena, Pablo and La Paisana discuss Antillano’s need to be warned that his true identity has been discovered, and that even if Santiago has promised not to say anything, he will need to know what has happened there in San Fernando so he can be prepared. Pablo agrees to go warn him since he knows where and when La Salamandra will be pulling in to shore.
On La Salamandra at the same time Ric and Mario discuss the best place to land; Ric figures they’ll save a day or so by putting the money into smaller chests which are lighter and will allow them to travel cross country more quickly on horseback rather than in a caravan.

At Justo’s GRita and Ines discuss the money situation with him. GRita says once Cami’s husband gets back he’ll have the money and things will get paid off. Then Justo lets the cat out of the bag unwittingly and says, yes, but his wonderful son-in-law now turns out to be a pirate. Ines is dumbfounded he should mention this in front of GRita and tries to make a quick save by saying they aren’t sure of that; but Justo seems puzzled and answers her. “--but your brother found out already! When GRita hears this she blows a gasket because Santi never said word one to her about it. (As if!)

Across the yard Santi is watching the excited chatter from his forge when Chip and Dale walk up and want to know what’s been going on around there recently and why Santi doesn’t trust them enough to let them in on things anymore. They explain that they know Camila and Ric have both been in prison and they just saw her tied up and being dragged to her house but now as the blind lady’s servant. Then they ask why Ascanio didn’t bother to come in to work today either. Santi tells them that he had a falling out with Ascanio and he quit then gives a quick rundown about Cami’s inheritance problems and walks off. They know he’s still not telling them everything.

Now Santi can’t stand it any longer and walks in on the discussion on his front lawn. GRita comes at him complaining that Cami now refuses to have Ric pay off her debts and there’s no way they are going to do it either. Ines explains to him that since Cami made the pact with him to leave Ric she logically didn’t want him stuck paying off her debts. GRita starts in again that she refuses to have Santi sell his forge or her father to be forced to sell off his mill all because of Cami and her being such a fool. Santi knows he’s stepped in it now and yells back defensively that there will be some solution and he’ll find it. He stomps off leaving the rest of them looking forlornly at one another while GRita harrumphs and snorts in disgust.
===========

Lis sends for Cami and tries to shoo Fran out to speak with Cami alone. Fran refuses and tells her to stop treating her like one of her maids. Cami comes in. Lis tries to play the benevolent mistress and tells Cami with feigned sweetness that she is sooo sorry that she is there and in this situation now. Lis asks her if she knows what her duties are, but Cami doesn’t buy the sweetness and light act. They argue. Cami answers back that of course she does since Lis obviously remembers how she was her father’s servant at one time. Lis laughs at this and says that Cami was never her father’s servant because from the first day he had ordered her put into one of her mother’s best dresses. Cami bewitched her father just like she’s done with Ricardo.

Cami snickers at this and asks if Lis really believes she uses spells on people, because otherwise she’d have already zapped Lis into a toad (now, that I’d like to see!) and run out the door laughing merrily, but that isn’t the way things are, are they? Lis laughs at her condescendingly and says Cami knows what she is referring to: the way she whored her way into the inheritance and then did the same with Ric. Cami yells that she is not a whore and is tired of arguing over what they both know for a fact: that if her father gave her his money he did it of his own accord and if it weren’t her it would have been some other woman.

Lis spits back at Cami that she’s going to get even with her but not for the matter of the inheritance at all, but for taking Ric away from her. “He was mine!” Lis tells her. Now it’s Cami’s turn to snicker. “Who says? Did you dream it? Was it your imagination or what?” Cami tells her that if Ric had been the least bit interested in LIs he’d have made his move toward her a long time ago. As it was, he preferred herself to blind as a batty Lis. Lis sneers and tells her that in the end all she ever was to Ric was a mistress.

Cami sees her opportunity to possibly bargain with Lis and takes advantage of it. She offers to leave Ric definitively if in exchange loony Lis forgives the rest of the debt. “If he and I separate he shouldn’t have to repay the debt, and neither should my family, not that even if they sold all they have, could they ever come up with that amount (All things considered, I wouldn’t trust LIs as far as I could throw her at this point.) Fran objects loudly. “No way! That’s a small fortune!” “—A favor for a favor, Lisabeta,” Cami taunts and pushes her advantage.” Lis doesn’t think twice and accepts the deal. Fran objects again but Lis turns to her aunt. “I said I agree!”

Smiling to herself, Cami goes back out to her room. On the way she asks Candida to get her a pen and paper so she can write a note to her father. Candida is happy to help out.

Inside in the living room Fran tells Lis she’s dreaming if she thinks that Cami, much less Ric, will ever abide by this agreement. “Besides,” she asks, “what does your cousin matter to you now if you’re getting married to LaFont?” Lis says at least he should be left with some of the inheritance from her father. Fran says she’s certain Lis has something in mind, but whatever it is she has a strange feeling that things are going to turn out badly for Lis in the end. Lis just sits there smiling to herself lost in her own world.
=================

Back at the inn El Chino and La Paisana worry about where Ric might hold up. El Chino says he’s a big boy and can take care of himself; he’s too smart to let himself get caught. Chino mentions then that he’s got to get back to the hideout and arrange for the transfer of the merchandise so he’ll be gone for a day or so. He tells La Paisana that he’s also going to arrange for another oriental, a healer, to come try to cure Jorge’s bastard son, the blacksmith’s, limp.

La Paisana says she’s going to stay on there, partly because of Pablo, but also because she wants to be there in case Antillano might need her help. Since he has always treated Pablo decently she figures that if he gets in a bind she can kidnap either Jorge’s wife or his daughter and barter with Jorge if need be. El Chino says it’s a nice idea, but with people like them diplomacy works better than trying to force them into doing something.
=============

At Santi’s Ofelia reminds her son that Justo wants to avoid anymore scandals so no reason to turn Ric into the authorities. GRita asks him why he can’t just let Cami leave with Ric and be done with it. He says because they are not married. She asks him if that is the real reason or is it he figures with Ric gone he’s free to try to make Cami his mistress. Santi forbids GRita to mention her again, let alone insult her like that.

Ofelia loses her patience now and tells them to stop the constant bickering back and forth. GRita asks why in the world they can’t just let Cami follow her husband, or whatever he is, and let her be. Santi explains that if she’s caught during one of the pirate raids with him then she ends up being accused and punished right along with him. GRita agrees that she doesn’t want that kind of thing happening to Cami and shuts up.

Justo and Vasco offer Ascanio a job working in the mil and he accepts in exchange for no more than his room and board. Justo is still upset though at the thought that Ric, as good as he’s been to them, should go off with Cami to a life like that. Ines says they shouldn’t give up and they can still hope for a miracle of some kind.
==================

That night Cami writes a note to her father telling him about her agreement with Lis to forgive her debt if she leaves Ric for good. She worries then how she will tell Ric about this and what she should say to convince him to leave her. At the same time Ric is thinking inside his cabin whether he should forget about winning his pardon from The Crown and run off with Cami to some foreign shore. Then he decides that what he really wants is to get his good name back so that she and his children will have it and whatever rightfully belongs to them. Cami deserves that much from him.
At the palace Jorge is bored and goes to visit Sofia in her bedroom for a nighttime chat.

Ursula is apparently receiving male visitors in her room again. This time it is Uriel, who admits he’s not used to visiting women in their rooms by coming in through the entrance to the garbage dump. Ursula giggles and greets him in her fancy skivvies. He tells her that if her daddy finds out he’ll kill him. Of course she says Daddy won’t be finding out. Uriel begins by taking off his jacket, but he is not exactly prepared for Ursula’s forward and rather loose personality, but he eventually takes it all in stride. He mentions that Al and Lis will be marrying the same time they do. Ursula laughs and says she doesn’t think Al will be that lucky since Lis, hypocrite that she is, still has a thing for Ric.

Jorge comments to Sofia that he is going to try to ingratiate himself with Santi by bringing in a healer who might cure his limp. She says that it would be better if he does what Santi is asking him and announces publically that he never actually “deflowered” Camila. Jorge, out of pride, refuses to do so. “No way, woman, am I going to humiliate myself telling folks I couldn’t get it up!”

In Ursula’s bedroom Uriel is getting more and more comfortable and wearing fewer and fewer bits of his clothes. She teases him into taking his shirt off and modeling his pecks for her. Eventually she and the Uriel get started doing the nasty with him with that crazy goatee and Dali hairdo looking like the mythical goat-man, Pan.
==================

The next morning Clothilde refuses to let Justo and Jimena in to speak to Lis and Fran and spitefully slams the door in their faces. The guard tells them also that Cami is not allowed to have any visitors whatsoever. Justo goes over to tell Sofia what just happened. Sofia says she is going over to Lis’ herself to see what’s going on.

Ric lands with some of his men and they go on horseback with the small chests of money.

Sofia arrives and Clothilde apologizes for not knowing apparently that it was Sofia at the door this time. Sofia gets angry when she sees Cami scrubbing the walkway on her hands and knees and says she never did this while living at home let alone having to do this in a stranger’s home. She promises to take the note Cami wrote to her father and deliver it to him and promises to try to correct a few things while they wait for Ric’s return.

About four hours out from San Fernando Ric and Mario run into El Chino on the road. Ric finds out through El Chino that they have now discovered who he is in San Fernando. Ric asks who exactly and Chino says that at least his wife’s entire family knows his true identity. He says that La Paisana also had sent a message to warn him of this and to tell him that Cami is in under guard in Lis’ house. Ric gets angry when he hears this since Lis promised him to let her stay at her father’s. He races on towards San Fernando with his men and the money.

Sofia, Fran and Lis are in the living room. Lis categorically refuses to sell Cami to Sofia, making the excuse that she agreed on selling her to Ric alone. Sofia doesn’t swallow that story either and accuses Lis of trying to take out her vengeance on Cami for something that wasn’t her fault. Lis claims Cami was at fault for driving her father to do what he did. Sofia disagrees and says it is apparent that her father was some sort of old pervert after young girls. If he chose to leave Cami his money it was by choice.

Lis politely answers maybe so, but she is not selling Cami to anybody but Ric and that is her final word. Sofia says let’s see if he doesn’t spit in your face when he returns and finds out the way you’ve been treating her. Sofia finds her own way out and leaves Lis standing there with the fake smile still plastered on her face.

Fran tells Lis that she’s made a powerful enemy now out of Sofia and warns her that sooner or later Sofia is going to get back at her. Lis says, sweet as sugar, that she won’t give Sofia that pleasure. Fran asks her just what she has in mind and exactly what she means by that.

Yo Amo a Juan, Mon. Mar.24 So Many Deals in the Works

I feel humbled to be following Maricruz' magnificent Friday recap and culture lesson but just glad that I can be helping push the story along as we all must do. Taping screwup makes this an event partly from memory.

Marely has been called into Cesar Luis' office assuming he wants some project done or call made but he assures her it is nothing to do with work. He probes Marely for what she knows of Paula and what she may have said to Marely about him. Having exploded with such uncontrolled fury, he portrays the wistfully altered, not too sympathetic but somewhat pathetic husband that everyone is aware of and not entirely comfortable that he won't let go again.

Juan, Angarita and Heriberto who are in the conversation so well explained by Maricruz and Juan pushes Heriberto to call his father to get mortgage funds to make the purchase of Monica's interest in Farell possible. Angarita to demonstrate his cautious attitude for money is more worried about who will pay for the long distance call. Juan steps up to assure that he will pay, just make the call already.

Laura and Monica discuss Juan and Laura's instant full blown plan to remake this good basic man with haircut and Italian shoes. Laura seems newly animated with her plans to get him. Monica tries to explain that Paula will be a weighty rival not an easy enemy.

Heriberto is involved with Dad and Angarita is losing patience after a half hour long distance call, Juan insists he will pay for it. The deal slowly chugs forward.

Cesar Luis is still prying and pleading with Marely but she doesn't want to divulge confidences. He continues pulling on her to tell what Paula has said about him or their relationship but Marely hods firm that he really needs to talk to Paula directly. He whines that he can't reach her she isn't answering phones but Marely insists she is at Ana's house.

Back at the fruit market [Editor is sorry for cheap shot but cuteness has it's own power] Heriberto is spotted by approaching Gaitan who gushes about having seen Heriberto a few days before at the restaurant. Heriberto seems surprised and not sure if he remembers Gaitan. Anga mentions that Heriberto is none other than Juan Dominguez' personal assistant and Heriberto nearly shakes Gaitan's hand off in his pride at this acknowledgement.

At the airport in Miami Ana is saying a good bye to he new companion (played by Marco Muñoz) as she worries about getting back to her daughter in her plight at the expense of ruining her own new promising future in the art world. He tries to give her a tender kiss on the lips as he says call him about anything if he can help. She deftly turns her head at the last second so he lands it on her cheek.

Juan is on the phone as Anga complains, he tries to pass off the call to Juanito but Anga realizes it is a call to Paula. Juan says he realizes Paula is impulsive and perhaps she will go back to her husband, but the wise Anga who has taken an interest in promoting this relationship says CL has crossed a line that she cannot forgive.

And to punctuate this statement we see a speechless scene of CL at Ana's gate with Paula peering at him from behind curtains. He rings the bell repeatedly in staccato stalker fashion. He finally drives off in his convertible.

Juan is having a deja vu moment thought bubbling that he recognizes that Gaitan is being swept off his feet by Heriberto (habia flechado / also pierced by cupid's arrow). Juan swings into frantic motion to get Heriberto out of the market. They have so many things to do. Gaitan drawls that he will have them come for dinner (cena) and will cook something delicious. Juan can't hustle them out of the market fast enough, he insists that he has to spend quality time with Juanito and yes, Heriberto has to come with him and yes, it's gotta be right now. Shortly afterward, Heriberto is in the back seat of a cab with Juan quickly dumping a disappointed Heri back at his hotel who finally realized he is being dumped off, and the friendly Gaitan who invited him for a beer isn't going to show up and Juan is not taking him with him to see Juanito.

Yadira asks Marely how things went at the office and if Fernando is a problem. Marely is trying to forget that Fer exists. They discuss Juan and Yadi insists that Paula will make a move to end up with Juan. Marely believes Paula is too devastated to think about any relationship but, wise in the ways of love and lust Yadira, smirks that Marely just takes information in one ear and out the other.

After the break, Paula tells Juan she is afraid of CL, he was outside of the house but she didn't open the door. He mentions that he tried to get a hold of her all afternoon but the phone was tied up. She admits that she wouldn't answer. She insists that tomorrow she will talk to CL and make things clear with him. Juan thought bubbles that he would like to say more but is a coward. She asks how things went with Angarita, he says fine.

Angarita is slurping his soup (sorber) in loud satisfied inhalings which is obviously irritating Gaitan's more sensitive nature, it's ugly and the conversation immediately becomes ugly as the real problem to the last tuft (copete) is actually Anga's irritation with the ridiculous spectacle Gaitan made over Heriberto with his peacock feather display. Gaitan defensively admits his show and sassily asks if Anga has a problem with it.
Paula cries while she combs her long lovely wet black hair.

Back to Angarita and Gaitan who are prickly as two old hens with each other. Gaitan challenges Anga that when he invited him to move in, he knew very well who he was. Now Anga seems to want him to correct his faults (enderezar). Gaitan brags that he is very happy with who he is. Well, Anga is not a bit happy with it and suddenly they are flinging threats of moving out and right now!! Yes, fast, now...

Juan thought bubbles about Paula's plan to make things clear with CL tomorrow while riding in the cab. Shortly after he pops into the bedroom where Marely is reading Juanito a bedtime story. He apologizes for missing dinner. Marely tries to get out of the room citing all the many things she has to do, Juanito lobbies for and end to the story which Marely tells Juan he can do nicely. He calls her the cream of actresses (comediante nata). Juanito talks about how much he prefers Marely and loves her perhaps as much as he loves his dad. Changing the subject, Juan asks for any news, Juanito pops off the pillow to announce that Perafan has returned, Nidia is really irritated but the police didn't come. Then the deadly conversation that has been coming: tomorrow instead of going to work with papa, Juanito is going to school. NOOOOO school! Yesssss school. We'll go to find Professor Pomposo.

Anga and Gaitan part company while tossing epithets at each other like so many pebbles. Anga calls Gaitan a maraca player (maraquito) not being either decent or a man, and Gaitan counters with calling Anga a prehistoric, a caveman who will end up a bitter old man in his solitude.

Paula calls CL and says she wants to talk to him tomorrow, he of course wants to have all his grievances, loneliness and needs heard right now but she insists that tomorrow is when that will happen.

Juan tries to tell Nidia it his only humane and a good citizen to do all he can to help Paula. Nidia counters with these duties actually belonging to her husband. Juan can't leave her alone in the big house with CL menacing nearby, but Nidia knows that Ana is on a plane on the way home to be with Paula. Shortly later Paula hears scary noises and throws a soft pillow at the intruder at the door but it is Ana home to comfort and console her daughter about the loss of the baby and give her a big Mommy hug. sigh, it's always good when Mom gets home...

Kike and Juan are discussing separations. Kike says Yadira wants to hurry with their divorce but it isn't always so easy. Juan thinks the CL/Paula separation will be just like this but Kike warns him that it is different. He and Yadira really loved each other once but can't get along. CL's behavior has gotten him a yellow card (soccer warning, two yellows lead to a red which mean expulsion from the game) But Kike is trying to warn Juan that this is not necessarily the end for Cl and Paula, she may return to him yet. [Oh I love it when guys compare love relationships to soccer games, but it actually works here.] Juan smiles to himself that CL will be knocked down a peg when he learns what all is happening.

Paula expresses regrets that Ana had to leave the exhibition and perhaps hurt her chances of promoting her art, but Ana is clear that she wanted to be with her daughter. She lost a piece of herself too through Paula's loss. Paula is sure the baby didn't want to come into such an unhappy family life but Ana again assures her that's not how it works. She councils her not to blame herself and later she can find peace and choose a life of love and a new being will come to her like Paula came into her life.

Paula and Juan coo into the phone to each other. Mommy is home and cooking something for dinner but Paula will miss the caldo Dominguez. She sends kisses to Juanito. Juan says hasta al ratón [Ed note: cute but does until the rat, mean anything to you, Maricruz?]

Professor Pomposo is grinning outside the school at Juanito who is stiff in fear and full of resistance to the notion of going inside to school. Juan and Pomposo leave him no out, his doom is sealed.

Early in the office, Gaitan and Ivonne share confidences of his removal to a hotel and her still moping over Fernando who is still moping over Marely and his spoiled plans. She still cares for Fern, but Gaitan steals the rest of the scene with his swoon over the super galán who is Juan's new assistant.

Monica is smartly at home checking with Marely at the office to find out that CL is a veritable panther. She hopes Juan can convince his business partner to go ahead with her offer so she can get out of here now.

Kike and Juan are in the truck surmising that CL will be crazy and jealous there will be a hammer with nails falling from heaven. Kike gets wind that something more than Paula is afoot. Juan finally slips that he promised Miss Monica . Kike seizes on ... MONICA?? Juan who is never great at secrets lets out that Monica has offered to sell him her shares in the company

Ana chastises CL for his actions. When CL admits that it was not his finest moment, she says no indeed it was his WORST. He protests that he suffered greatly too, he wanted this child more than anything.

Poor Juanito is in front of the classroom full of uniformed students/judges and when they hear the name Achichipico, they laugh with derision at the miserable tyke.

Kike, juan and Angarita discuss Monica's offer. Anga is full of doubts of what he wants to do with HIS money.

Cesar Luis fumes while Paula tells him that nothing he can say now will change what has already happened between them. She doesn't want to talk or hear more, in fact she wants a legal separation.

Back to the big business deal. Angarita expresses his reluctance and fears about what is behind this deal that he can't see, there are no brakes on this coming at him. Juan assures him that he doesn't have to do much, he just should see it as an investment. Anga continues that he is not about to mortgage all his properties for this. Juan is so sure it will work, but Anga brings it home: Juan can risk his shares in this company if he wants to pursue this acquisition.

Paula and CL get one last struggle in. CL is sure that he has been justified in being crazy and jealous, they have laughed behind his back. Basically, it was his anger talking not him. [The old you made me do this beastly thing argument]. the scene trails off with them continuing to struggle that he wants to save the marriage and she, well she doesn't. Then the mad gleam of jealousy flares again and he accuses her that Juan has to do with this decision of Paula's. Paula's glaring back at him speaks volumes of what she thinks about being thought incapable of deciding this herself. [Ed. thought that last thought but I am right I bet] FIN

Guapos: Monday 3/24/2008- "The Great Galán Debate"

Al and Hugo return home from their forray to the hospital and come across Connie and Andrea talking in the foyer. Al is very angry and accuses Andrea of lying about being pregnant and faking her miscarriage. Andrea insists that she can explain and Hugo makes an exit before he gets dragged in even further. Al lights into his father and asks him if he’s got anything to say. Connie asks what it is exactly that Al wants him to say. Al is upset that his father is in cahoots with this liar. Connie pretty much says that all women lie. Al insists that isn’t true, his mommy wouldn’t lie. Connie jumps on that and says why don’t you ask her about how she lied when before you were born, when she was pregnant with you. Meanwhile, Andrea is hanging in the background as the two men argue, probably hoping that Al will be distracted enough by his father to forget all about her evil deeds---fat chance! Al insists that his father tell him all about the lies his mother told. Connie says nope and walks away. Al turns back to Andrea and demands to what type of person she is. How could she fake a pregnancy and then a miscarriage. She claims it is because she loves him. He’s not falling for it. He rants on about how she even made him think that Mili was at fault and she had absolutely nothing to do with it. Now he knows he’s got to go beg Mili for forgiveness. Andrea pleads with him, he’s got to understand.

Luci’s in bed, crying her eyes out to Damien. She tells her brother that she’d be lost without her children, they are her only source of strength. She’s a fickle woman, having forgotten about her old friend the bottle…..

It is a blue uniform day and the downstairs group is breakfasting and wondering where oh where Karla could be.

She’s at the airport, getting a harsh lesson in the need of a passport in order to travel to the US. The airline clerk suggests she find a destination within Mexico. She decides for Cancun.

Back at the mansion, Damien has discovered her note and that she took the loot. He starts asking the servants where Karla might be. Lina tells him they don’t know. Connie approaches Damien whilst he’s searching for Karla. He wants info on the ransom money for Snotty Spice. Damien says he’ll get it and that he would even make the payment drop. Connie agrees (why oh why does Connie continue to trust Damien with this kind of stuff?).

Hugo and Mili wander the gardens and Hugo confesses his love, once again. He asks Mili to agree to become his wife. She hesitates in answering. He says he knows that he feels more for her than she does for him, but he’s OK with it because he knows in time she’ll learn to love him more. Meanwhile, he’ll care enough for the both of them. I have to interject and say it just feels creepy to me. Mili tells Hugo that she cares for him, but……He says just as a friend, you’re still thinking of my primo. Mili doesn’t like to be reminded of Al, so she says that she needs time to think about it, to mull over the idea. Hugo says he’ll give her a day.

Damien scours the airport and finds Karla reading. She tries to talk her way out of taking the money. While they are engaged in conversation, another man sits down on the other side of Karla and gets up after a few seconds, with her carryon in his hands. Damien demands to know where the money is and Karla says right here in my bag---They realize the bag has been taken!!! Karla freaks out and Damien subdues her, he doesn’t want to draw any attention.

Connie heads upstairs and finds Luci in bed with her bottle. He’s upset that the first thing his daughter might see when released from the kidnappers is her mother drunk. Luci wants to call the police, but in the middle of this conversation, Snotty returns home, no worse for the wear. A group hug is given. Connie tries to get some details about the kidnappers, but Val swears they had her blindfolded and she saw nothing.

Mili tells Regina about Hugo’s proposal. Regina tells Mili to be careful and reminds her that she’s really in love with Al. She warns Mili that she could end up hurting Hugo badly. Mili swears that Al is in the past and that she’s leaving it behind her.

Snotty assures Slushy that nothing happened while she was kidnapped (makes me think something a la the “Ransom of Red Chief” by O. Henry. Perhaps Snotty was so bad, the kidnappers were willing to pay to get rid of her---or at least it seems like they let her go without getting the ransom). Snotty asks Slushy to promise not to drink. Al comes downstairs and finds his mother and sister in the middle of another hug-fest. He gets hugs from Snotty and she starts to tell him what happened when Connie stops her. He pulls Snotty aside and tells her it is best forgotten and not mentioned to anyone else. While this little side conversation is taking place, Al pulls his mom aside and tells her they need to talk. Luci and Al leave. After they’ve gone, the doorbell rings and enter Pilar. One of Val’s friends, who just returned to Mexico after living in Spain for three years.

Al fills Luci in on the whole Andrea fake pregnancy thing. He then mentions Connie telling him all women are deceitful and that Luci lied. He wants to know what happened when Luci was preggers. She weaves a story about how a similar thing happened back in the day, she lied to Connie and told him she was expecting. He found out she wasn’t telling the truth and he left her in Paris and went back to Mexico. After he’d gone, she found out she really was pregnant and they ended up getting married before Al was born. Al remembers parts of this story from a conversation he had with Regina. He wants to know why she lied in the first place and Luci says she was afraid that he would abandon her. Luci then says that Andrea must have had the same motive, poor baby, she was afraid of losing you. Al seems disgusted with his mother siding with Andrea. He says, well she lost me anyway and leaves the room.

In the dorm room, Mili is filling Gloria and Lina in on Hugo’s proposal. Lina is on team Hugo. Gloria, on the other hand, opts for following the heart, so she’s on team Al. Lina actually makes a stronger case, but I think that’s because she doesn’t stop talking so Gloria didn’t have a chance for rebuttal. Lina says that Mili shouldn’t suffer for someone who’s not worth it in the first place.

Pilar and Val catch up. We find out that Pilar’s parents are divorced. She was living with her mom and step-dad in Barcelona, but now she’s returned to Mexico to be with her father. We also find out that Pilar still has the hots for Al (we knew that from the previews for today’s episode, but Val obviously didn’t watch them, so Pilar needed to fill her in).

Damien returns home and finds out that Val’s been released. He whines to Connie that a phone call would have been nice. Connie says that he’ll never forgive Damien for taking advantage of the situation, and manipulating the return of his stock shares (ya’ think a little bit of the pot calling the kettle black ?). Oh well, Connie decides the one thing has nothing to do with the other and the two men share a toast to Snotty’s return.

Bobby thinks he’s a genius because he figured out that Andrea was lying about expecting a baby. Al anguishes over the possibility of Mili forgiving him for not believing her. Al decides that he’ll need his abuela’s help in convincing Mili to forgive him. Pilar and Val interrupt this conversation. Al is surprised to see Pilar back. Val manages to get Bobby to leave, giving Pilar a chance to make a move on Al.

Down in the kitchen, Andrea confronts Mili, and she caresses the knife block during this conversation---scary!! Mili gives attitude right back at the Skank. She says that one day Al will know the truth about what a liar Andrea is. The Skank says he already knows, but she’s not going to sit around with her arms crossed. She intends to win Al back. Mili is excited to find out that Al knows the truth. She rushes out of the kitchen to go find him, she’s sure he’ll apologize.

Pilar tells Al that he doesn’t know how much she missed him. Al is surprised. Pilar says a girl never forgets her first time. She goes in for a kiss. Mili’s got bad timing, because this is the point where she enters the room. She sees the kiss and leaves before she can see Al push Pilar away. He tells her that he doesn’t feel it, in fact he’s hopelessly in love with another girl. Pilar says what a pity.

Mili runs to Hugo’s room, crying. She tells him that she came to say yes to his proposal (stupid girl!!). He’s just crazy enough to not be bothered by her crying. She’s made him the happiest man in the universe. After that little jump for joy the other part of his brain kicks in and he notices that Mili isn’t exactly ecstatic about the whole thing. She tells him to give her some time. He starts making plans. They’ll have a dinner the next night and tell everyone in the family. Mili says she’d like to tell Regina first. Hugo says she’ll have to quit her job, Mili doesn’t like this idea. Hugo goes in for a kiss, but Mili turns and it is a very chaste kiss.

Bobby and Val walk outside. He’s happy that she wanted to talk to him. She lets him know that she pulled him away from Al so Pilar and Al could be alone. Bobby is crushed. Morky sees Snotty’s returned and he runs up to her and proclaims he’s glad she’s alive. He grabs her and gives her a kiss. Bobby ends up splitting the two of them up, and Val looks sorta confused about what just happened. Val takes off and Bobby and Morky argue over who’s the best suited for Snotty.

Connie questions Karla about Damien. Did she give him info that helped Damien get his shares of the business back from Connie. Karla swears she hasn’t talked to Damien in days. Oh well, Connie says, surely she knows that he’s no longer going to be giving her any money.

Mili fills Gloria and Lina in on finding Al kissing another girl. Typical outraged reactions from Team Hugo and Team Alejandro really has no response---just shock. Karla comes into the room crying because her gravy train is gone.

Al fills Regina in on Andrea’s treachery. Regina is upset. Al says that he’s worried that Mili won’t forgive him, so he needs Regina’s help. Braulio interrupts them and mentions that Hugo and Mili are together. Al gets jealous at the news.

Damien meets up with the man from the airport. He gets the bag of money back. He’s happy because he’s got the money, his company shares, and a large check from Connie.

Regina has Brau pack Andrea’s bags and in front of the whole family, she kicks the Skank to the curb. Andrea begs her madrina to listen. Regina tells her to never call her madrina again. Val and Luci light into Andrea as well. The Skank turns to Connie for some help and he tells her she’s fired. Al, showing some spine, tells his mother and sister that they are hypocrites---they were all for Andrea before and so quick to blame Mili.

Mili hangs out with Hugo in his room, painting. He starts making moves and Mili is obviously uncomfortable, but crazy Hugo doesn’t pick up or refuses to pick up on her non-verbal clues. Mili leaves, but first has to promise Hugo that she’ll talk to Regina first thing.

Lina and Gloria fill the downstairs group in on all the latest happenings---Hugo and Mili’s engagement. They all get a little slap happy and start doing imitations of the upstairs group. Socorrito does a drunken Luci, Gloria does a terrific Snotty (Rocky thinks she’s too harsh), Horacio nails Damien’s stammering, Lina attempts to do Regina, and Rocky does a pretty good job with Connie’s voice. Karla walks in on the silliness, and ever the buzz kill, tells them they are all loco.

Luci scolds Connie for putting his lover above his son. Connie says, son? Same old crap, no new information.

Braulio tells Hugo about Andrea’s bags being packed and Regina kicking her out. Hugo’s a little concerned that Andrea might have ratted him out, so he tries to feel Brau out for any info. Brau says that Andrea got fired, and Hugo says she’ll find work. Unable to keep his joy to himself, Hugo blurts out to Braulio that Mili agreed to marry him. Braulio is shocked. END OF EPISODE.

La Traicion, Mon, March 24 - Lucas gets a spine, Hugo gets the Orchid elixir and Soledad's baby hangs in there

OK, let's get through the boring parts of the story:

Guillermo is still rejecting Elena. After Elena has a dream that Guillermo takes up with Margot, she threatens to destroy his violin. He says that if she does, there will be consequences.

Omar, the bar owner tells Rebeca that she is responsible for the damage caused by the brawl since Hercu-less started it and won't give her any of the proceeds of the spectacular.

Eloisa and Paquito continue the same discussion. He is jealous of her relations with other men. She is doing what she has to get rich and she will always be Paquito's lover. Arturo finds Eloisa's earring in his carriage. He returns to her house to return it and finding the door open, walks in looking for her. Rebeca intercepts Paquito before he goes into Eloisa's room where Paquito is now under the bed. She takes the earring and asks him to leave. Once he his gone, she goes into Eloisa's room. Eloisa tells her that she and Arturo are engaged and commiserates with Rebeca's failure to get any money from the spectacular. Upon leaving, Rebeca notices Paquito's shoes. She intercepts Paquito on the way out of Eloisa's room.

It's surprising that it has taken this long for her to discover Eloisa and Paquito. They weren't very discreet but maybe Rebeca was less observant when she had Hercu-less warming her bed. Paquito confesses his secret of pretending to be effeminate to get the confidence of women and keep men from seeing him as a threat. Rebeca tells Paquito that he must help her get the money from the spectacular or she will betray his secret.

Now, the good parts.

Soledad refuses to accept that her baby is dead and will not let Dr. Max induce an abortion. Dr. Max suggests to Antonia that if Soledad will not agree to the procedure, she should be sedated
with ether and forced to submit to it. Ester tries to convince Soledad that her life is at stake if she continues to carry the dead fetus but Soledad is adamant. Ester leaves to consult with Dr. Max and he convinces her that sedating Soledad by force is their only choice. Lucas refuses to help.

Meanwhile, Enrico has snuck into where Ursula is and convinces her that to save Soledad, they must run away. They take off in a carriage with Ester, Lucas, Urusla, Dr. Max and Antonia in hot pursuit. Speed kills as they say and Enrico crashes the carriage throwing Soledad unconsious onto the road.

Hugo tells Boris and Marina that Dr. Chirac has confirmed that Soledad's baby could have catalepsy. "Imagine when they pronounce the baby dead, when it really isn't." Hugo vows that this tragedy must be avoided at all costs and to do so they will return to San Marino by the first train.

Marina is happy to return to San Marino to find out what Los Burque have been up to and to sell the Hacienda. Boris is not so happy. He is worried that someone will recognize Hugo and that in close proximity to Soledad, Hugo will be even more bitter. Marina says that she is sure Hugo will be careful not to be recognized and his bitterness is his problem. She just wants the money from the sale of the Hacienda. Boris seems to have reneged on what he ageed to before with Marina. He now says that he will only deduct the amount of money that he lent Soledad from the sale proceeds and give the rest to Hugo. Marina vows they will make good money from the sale of the Hacienda.

In spite of the fact that Hugo believes that Soledad and her baby are in imminent danger, he is going to let Dr. Chirac try the Orchid elixir on him when he having a catalepsy attack induced by the doctor. Marina express her doubts about he wisdom of this decision but Hugo says that he must test the elixir. It is the only hope for the baby. Hugo asks Boris to help Soledad and her baby if he doesn't survive this experiment. Boris says that he will be as loyal to Soledad and her baby as he is to Hugo. (Hugo doesn't say, 'I knew I could count on you' or 'thanks, my friend.' He says nothing and give Boris a long hard look. Does Hugo have some doubts about just how loyal Boris is???)

The injection of the orchid elixir seems to have no effect on Hugo. His heartbeat is barely perceptible but Dr. Chirac notices that he is having rapid eye movments as if he were dreaming. Hugo is off on another out of body experience. He gets down beside Soledad who is lying in the road. She is barely conscious but asks him to save her baby. He puts his hand on her abdomen and says that he will help her. Hugo's physical body goes into convulsions and Dr. Chirac injects something directly into his heart. Hugo wakes up. He says that he feels like he has just come back from a long journey but he is sure of one thing - Soledad's baby does have catalepsy.

Meanwhile, Ester et al have found Soledad's overturned carriage. Soledad is still unconscious and they take her back to the house. Dr. Max is about take advantage of her being unconscious to give Soledad the injection that will induce the abortion when Soledad wakes up and tries to resist. Ester and Antonia hold her down. Who comes to the rescue but Lucas! He punches Dr. Max out and redeems himself. Soledad feels her baby move and Dr. Max confirms that the baby's heart is beating again. Later, Soledad tells Lucas that Hugo was with her after the accident. She is sure that he is watching them from heaven and that they are not alone.

Ester recognizes that Ursula and Enrico saved Soledad and thanks them. Ester is also for telling Dr. Max that his services as Soledad's physician are no longer needed but Antonia gets her to change her mind. (The scenes from tomorrow indicate that these two will form an unholy alliance.) As we expected, the miraculous recovery of Soledad's baby convinces Dr. Max that it has inherited catalepsy. He wants the baby, once it is born, to continue his experiments that he hopes will reanimate, Eva, his dead wife who apparently is stored in a cupboard filled with weird green light.

Hugo is devastated to learn that the Orchid elixir did not work. Dr. Chirac says that more experimentation is necessary. Hugo wants the doctor to come to San Marino with him. The doctor is reluctant but Hugo insists that the life of the baby is in danger. He will bring all the equipment that the doctor needs.

It's going to take Team Hugo, now including Dr. Chirac, three months to get back to the city. The plan is that Hugo will hang out at the hotel while Boris and Marina get close to Soledad and offer Dr. Chirac's help. Boris confesses that he and Marina weren't very nice to Soledad the last time they met because of what she had done to Hugo and she might reject them. Hugo orders them to be nice to Soledad from now on and if they can't do the job, he'll do it himself.

Tomorrow - Hugo is in disguise with cute John Lennon style sunglasses.

Juan Q Friday 3/21/2007 Juan wins what CL loses.

Delirio tells Nidia that he has decided to assume full responsibility for what happened with Samuel's will. He will go to jail and Nidia will be free.

Juan arrives to the hospital, he finds Paula ready to leave. He asks if she is ready to go back to her house. Paula says no, she’ll go to her mother’s house because she can’t share her life with a man that drives her crazy; one day he loves her the next day he hates her. She says she is ready to take responsibility for her own life. –But not alone says Juan sweetly. Paula smiles.

Nidia can’t believe that Delirio is willing to sacrifice himself for her. But Delirio says he’ll give even his life for her. Nidia says ok, “de mil amores” I accept gladly. Delirio is a little deflated by this. –just like that? Nidia says that since she has responsibilities (her daughters and granddaughter), she has to accept. Delirio contradicts himself and now he says that when you love somebody you do everything without expecting anything in return. Nidia doesn’t miss a beat, she wants it in writing. Delirio doesn’t understand, didn’t she talk to Paula already? Nidia says no, are you still willing to do this sacrifice for me?

Paula and Juan are talking. He keeps on calling her Licenciada. Paula doesn’t like it. Juan says he is use to calling her that. Paula says that a lot of things have passed since she was Farrell Vice-president. –But you haven’t change, says Juan. You are the same beautiful, charming, smart, woman. Paula says that a lot has changed; Juan is now a successful business man and in contrast she and CL are just a couple of losers. Juan says that she is just going thru a bad time “una mala racha” Paula says that now he should be called Licenciado. Juan says that Paula is trying to evade the question; he wants to know how she feels. She says that she feels ok. They end the scene calling each other Licenciado/a.

Delirio can’t believe that Nidia is trying to manipulate him into signing a confession, whit out telling Paula first. Nidia says that she was just joking; in reality she is very grateful (we hear violins in the background) for the great sacrifice that Delirio is willing to do. Delirio says that there is no need to thank him. Nidia with a honeyed tone of voice says that she wants to thank him. Delirio says that there is no need, because he decided he is not going to sacrifice himself anymore. Nidia can’t believe her ears. –I had already gotten used to the idea (of your sacrifice). Delirio says that the only reason he was wiling to sacrifice himself was because he thought that Nidia had already spilled the beans (Ed Note. This doesn’t make any sense, It really doesn’t matter when Nidia tells Paula about the will; the end result is going to be the same… but then again this is Delirio we are talking about; he NEVER makes any sense) Nidia is impactada.

On the way to Ana’s house Juan thought bubbles about the events of the day. – Our way back to Doña Ana’s house took place between looks and stormy thoughts, and once again “la matraca me estaba dando como rabo de perro” (My heart was palpitating out of control. Lit my noise maker was doing like a dog tail) hope was filling up my chest ignoring the warnings of my head. Be careful Juan this love is going to end up killing you!

At Farrell CL tells Pastor that Paula lost the baby. Pastor gives his condolences and says that he understands what he is feeling. CL says that Pastor can’t understand him, because he did not only lose a baby, he also lost the only reason for Paula to stay with him. He says he doesn’t understand what happened. Pastor says that maybe the relationship can still be salvaged. He is sure that Paula loves CL and right now she needs him. CL, dripping spite from his voice, says that right now Paula has a man by her side that was able to give her what CL never did. Pastor almost not wanting to know the answer, asks who. CL says, who else? “El nagual infalible, el nopal lechoso, el chupacabras ese”(Ed note. I know el chupacabras has been discussed, but I’m not sure if we have talk about Nagual. El Nagual was a witch doctor “brujo” that was able to take an animal form to cause harm to others. Now Nopal is a much usual insult. It could be taken as meaning one of two things: 1) Idiot. 2) As a demeaning way of calling you a low class Mexican. To illustrate this I remember when a friend of mine irritated with his sister because she was ashamed of her Hispanic heritage and had bleached her hair and didn’t wanted to speak Spanish, told her “Even if you call it cactus I can still see it in your face” ;) ) Impactado face from Pastor.

Paula and Juan finally arrived at Ana’s house. Juan wants to let Ana know what happened, but Paula doesn’t. Juan tells Paula to go upstairs and rest. Paula says it is déjà vu, Juan is his nurse again. Juan says that he was thinking the same thing. He tells her to go upstairs and rest he is going to cook for her. Paula tries to resist, but Juan says that he is going to prepare his famous Caldo Dominguez. Paula says ok and goes upstairs. Juan thought bubbles that now he has to make a caldo from his non-existent recipe.

CL is still talking to Pastor. He says that he feels out of control. He doesn’t know what to do about all of his personal problems and that since he can’t take care of the business, Pastor will have to do it, especially since the other company fighting for the same business is the one owned by his brother. Pastor says, ok but I need a pay raise. CL says that he (Pastor) should thank him for the opportunity that he is being given. If Pastor succeeds then he’ll get the pay raise. Pastor doesn’t seem sure, he reminds CL that “del plato a la boca se cae la sopa” the soup could fall from the plate to the mouth, in other words he wants the money first. CL says that Pastor has to decide is he is with him or against him.

At Ana’s house, Juan calls Angarita to ask how to make “Caldo de res”. I don’t know what recipe Angarita gave to Juan, but this is my personal recipe

2lbs beef shank
1 Chayote
2 Potatoes
2 Mexican zucchini
2 Carrots
¼ Cabbage
2 Corns
1 Garlic clove
½ Onion

Back to the show

Nidia receives a phone call from Ana. Ana is very happy and says that everything is going great. Nidia says that she is very happy for her. Ana wants to know if Paula is ok because she hasn’t been able to talk to her. Nidia tells her that Paula lost the baby. Impactada face from Ana.

After writing the recipe from Angarita Juan wants to go back to cooking. Angarita says that Monica del Rosal asked to talk to Juan because she has a business proposal. Juan takes the number and wonders what Monica really wants.

Topete has been looking for Yadira, she was sleeping in the library. He wants to know what is her decision, is she shaking up with him? Yadira says that she already asked Kike for a divorce. Topete says fine, but is she moving with him? Yadi says she is considering it.

Juan calls Monica. Monica says that she has a big business proposal. Juan is a little hesitant, but finally accepts to meet her. Laura overhears and is exited because she finally will get to know the famous Juan Dominguez.

Topete and Yadira are still talking. Topete wants to know when exactly she is moving in with him. Yadira says as soon as the divorce is finalized. Topete says that there is no need to wait; he tries to explain that in the civilized part of Europe (I didn’t know there was an uncivilized part) but Yadira interrupts him. She says that they are in Mexico not in Europe and she wouldn’t dare to live with another man when she is still married. Topete insists that it is only a little paper and it doesn’t matter. Yadira says that her mother would kill her and that in her house they are very conservative.

Pastor is talking to Yvonne. She gave him all the info for the Campiony? proposal. Pastor says that he is still missing some documents. Yvonne tells him that Monica kept some of the documents and he is going to have to ask her or maybe ask “La escualida con pelos de escobeta” The skinny one with bristle brush like hair (Marely) Pastor wants Yvonne to ask her about the missing documents, but Yonne doesn’t want to. Pastor tells her that she doesn’t have a choice. Yvonne says fine, but she wants to know what is going on with CL. Pastor says first get me the info and then I’ll tell you.

Juan finally finished his infamous caldo, but since he didn’t have beef he made it out of chicken. Paula says that it smells delicious, but when she tastes it she tells him that she thought it was supposed to be a beef caldo Juan says that that is the secret of the caldo it is made out of beef, but it tastes like chicken. Paula just smiles. Juan says that he has to go. Paula wants to know where. Juan doesn’t know what to say. Paula sees his hesitation and says that he doesn’t have to tell her.

Ana is trying to cancel the exposition of her paintings, but Manuel/Damian (I don’t know his name in this novela) tells her that she shouldn’t do that.

At the Cachon residence Delirio is trying to convince Nidia not to tell Paula about the will –Don’t you realize that every time that you try to tell Paula something happens? Nidia says that she knows, but she still has to do it because if she doesn’t do it Marely will.

At Laura’s house. Laura is very excited that she finally will get to know Juan Dominguez. Monica says that Juan is nice looking but very ordinary. Laura says that Juan has to have something special for Paula to love him so much. Monica thinks that is not that Juan is special it is that Paula is weird. The door bell rings, is Juan, when Laura sees him, she is impactada and doesn’t want to leave. Juan realizes that Laura is flirting with him. Laura finally leaves and Juan and Monica get down to business. Monica says that she is willing to sell her shares of Industrias Farrell to Juan. Impactado face from Juan.

At Ana’s house Marely is talking to Paula. Paula is still blaming herself for the miscarriage. Marely tells her not to do that anymore, it is not her fault. Paula tells her everything that happened with CL and how bad he treated her. She is never going back to him.. Marely wants to know what is happening with Juan. Paula says that Juan has been great to her. Juan has taken care of her, and stopped CL from bothering her. Marely just looks at Paula and Paula defensively tells her that she did not provoked what happened.

Monica tells Juan the amount that she wants for the shares. She tells him this is a great opportunity he should think about it. When Juan sees the amount he tells her that she is asking for too much money. Monica says that he doesn’t have to give her all the money right now, he could give her half and they could finance the other half. Juan says that he has to check with Anga. Monica says fine but he needs to hurry up because she wants to sell pronto. Juan wants to know if CL knows about it. Monica says that no and it is perfectly legal for her to sell her shares without notifying CL. Juan says that he is interested but wants to know the truth, is she doing this to get even with CL? She says yes, but it doesn’t change the fact that they are getting the shares for a very low price. Juan says that he is interested and that he’ll talk to Anga right away.

Marely tries to make Paula understand that she is (once more) misleading Juan. Since this is such a waste of Marely’s effort and our time I’m not writing the rest of their conversation.

Juan is on his way to talk to Angarita and is thought bubbling that this is a great opportunity.

At the market place Anga is talking to Heriberto when Juan arrives. Anga is not too happy that Heriberto presented himself as Juan’s personal assistant. Juan changes the conversation and tells Anga about Monica’s Proposal. Anga is not that sure about the business. He says that he doesn’t have enough money. Juan says that’s why there is going to be a new partner in the business, Heriberto. Heriberto is very happy until Juan tells him that to become a partner he has to convince his father to mortgage his lands. Heriberto doesn’t believe he’ll be able to convince his dad. Juan hands him the phone and tells him to make the phone call. Heriberto looks unsure.

At Farrell, CL calls Marely to his office. He wants to know if she has seen Paula. Marely doesn’t know what to say.

At Laura’s House. Monica is scolding Laura. Laura says that she liked Juan, because she is tired of dealing with superficial men. Monica recognizes that Juan is sincere, but she thinks that he is still naco. Laura says that she can help him change his appearance. He can get a hair cut and Italian shoes. She is definitely interested and she says that she always gets what she wants

The end.

Guapos Friday 3/21/08 Dastardly Damien strikes again . . . this time Morgan is no hero

I'm trying to get this done earlier than usual, as I have some weekend guests coming. Today for the first time I have managed to watch the episode and take notes in much less time than usual. Maybe there was less dialogue.
No Regina in this episode, BTW. Not even much Mili.

We last left Alex in a freeze frame when Bobby managed to put some doubt in his mind as to whether Andrea was really pregnant.
Now The Odd Couple go over to the bachelor pad, where they plan to have the Pigeon Sisters over for a night of hot monkey love.

Mili shyly approaches Connie. She tells him that she didn't mean to eavesdrop, but she couldn't help hearing and seeing him with Valeria. She wishes she could have such a relationship. Her dad left her, etc. This was heartbreaking. After she leaves, Connie says "wow," in that regretful way he has.

Turns out that Al is not ready for any new talent. He stares at his Pigeon sister, but he won't dance with her. She calls him a dud.

Connie and Luci have a discussion that ends with Connie reminding her that her dear son might inherit his father's craziness and end up in the manicomio. Think of his future: he might be Hercules . . . or Napoleon!

Mili comes into Val's room, where Val is lying on the bed sadly. She wants to be like a sister and says she's all ears if Val wants to confide in her, but Val isn't having any of it yet.

Val's now out by the pool sleeping on a lounge chair. Connie spills some of his drink on her to wake her up, and they laugh. She wants him to get wet in the pool, and he takes off his shoes and coat as if he is going to jump in with his clothes on. One, two, three--ha ha--he throws Val in, but he balks. Damien watches. Val calls her Dad "tramposo," or sneaky.

Al has given up any pretense of making time with the new girl. He asks Bobby how he could find out if Andrea was really pregnant.

Damien tells someone they'll get the money even though banks are closed. (Guapos team, help me out here. It seems like Damien is somehow behind the kidnapping we know is coming (from the avances)--agreed?)
Then he comes out to chat with Val and Connie, who are still by the pool. He says they are a cute family. Connie wants to throw Damien in the pool, and Damien doesn't want to get his suit wet. Connie says that he doesn't have to worry because he buy cheap suits.

Damien has now been beamed directly to the office. Andrea tells him that everything is under control (with the Alex situation, I think).

Alex comes in and wants to take Andrea for coffee. She tries to avoid it by claiming work responsibilities, but Connie lets her go.

Hilarity segment: Morgan is in training for his taco stand. He sets up a barbecue grill right by the pool where he smokes everyone out.

Alex and Andrea have an uncomfortable chat at the coffee shop. He wants to know which hospital she was at so he could speak to her doctor. She says that since they are not husband and wife yet, the doctor won't talk to him. (must be the Mexican version of HIPAA)

Morky has finished his training for the day and takes Val to the office. He lets her off in the basement garage. While he's waiting, he is distracted by a girl who needs help starting her car. Soon we see two kidnappers carry Val out to a van. She tries to grip the outsides of the rear opening as they push her in. (It reminded my of what my old cats used to do when I put them in the cat carrier. RIP Bubbles and Fred.)

As soon as the kidnappers drive away, the distraction girl suddenly "finds" her keys, so Morgan no longer has to hotwire her car.

Alex asks Hugo about Andrea's doctors. Hugo fudges. He can't even remember what hospital they went to. Hugo gets on the horn and warns Andrea. Shouldn't they have gotten their story straight first, by at least having the name of a hospital?

Socorro talks to the new naco. Horacio plays strict papa--he doesn't want Lina going with Naco.

Closeup of the nude picture of Mili. Hugo and Andrea plot how to keep Alex from finding out the truth. They must keep him from going out tonight. (What about other nights? Are they going to enlist every doctor in the DF into supporting their scheme?) Hugo doesn't want to lose Mili.

Morky now wonders where Val is. He calls her cell phone, and a man answers.

Andrea kisses Connie. Damien catches them. What a great opportunity. Damien wants Connie to cash a check for him. Connie refuses and tells Damien to go to the ATM. Then the ransom call comes in. Uh-oh, the banks are closed.

Alex remembers the things Mili and Andrea said to him.

Damien counsels Connie to remain calm. Don't call the police. Damien knows how to get the money. (he has the money in the safe) He'll help Connie if Connie will just sign some papers that Damien happens to have--turning over the company to Damien! Connie balks.

Morky has now come home and tells Horacio that he's worried about Val.

Luci overhears--where is Val?

Another ransom call comes, and Connie realizes he has to give in to Damien's demands. He signs the papers reluctantly. I imagine he'll get out of this sooner or later, especially when he finds out that Damien was behind the kidnapping.

Alex takes Hugo to visit the ER where Andrea lost the fake baby. I guess Hugo decided to make one up. They've never heard of Andrea. Hugo swears this is the right one. Alex asks him to look him in the eye and say that. Hugo says of course he is telling the truth . . . yada yada yada. Alex says that Andrea has a lot of 'splaining to do.

At the end, Luci walks in when they are discussing the kidnapping. They have a huge argument over who's a real Belmonte. Luci, you have some 'splaining to do too . . . Connie offers her a drink. He tells her to get drunk, 'cause she usually makes more sense that way. Damien takes a drink.
Meanwhile, Karla is stealing the money from the safe! (Damien, you shouldn't have treated her so badly . . .).

Now they move out to the entry hall so they can stage the farcical entrances and exits needed. Damien leads limping Luci out (Luci is now wearing a long skirt to hide her cast, but she has no crutches). Karla tries to sneak out with the money, but sees them all, so she hides momentarily. Connie sits with his head in his hands. Karla now sneaks out.

Andrea marches in with a problem. Connie doesn't want to hear her whining, but she forges ahead: Boo hoo--Alex is suspicious and thinks she had an abortion. Just as she mentions "her baby," Alex and Hugo walk in. Yeah, Alex says--the baby that never existed!

My DVR cuts out here.

Pasion Friday - can someone fill in?

I hate to do this so late, but can anyone take Friday's recap for me? I'm still almost the whole week behind on watching and there is no hope in sight. In fact, does anyone want to take over my Friday spot for the remainder of the run of Pasion? The way things have been lately (not the family deaths, everything else) I think recapping is going to be squeezed out of my schedule for a while. Hopefully I can jump back on board sometime before long. Thanks in advance.

EDIT - Margarita has stepped up with an amazing (since it was from memory!) recap - Thank you Margarita! Also, Cheryl has volunteered to take over Fridays for the rest of Pasion. Thank you Cheryl! Hope to keep seeing you all here and soon again as a recapper.

Episode 71LP meets with Pablo and asks if he's wondered about his mother. He asks if she knows her, and LP grabs his seashell charm and blows on it. Pablo realizes she's his mom, pulls away and runs out of the room nearly running Jim over. Jim asks LP who she is and she says nobody and also runs out. Jim runs after Pablo (now on his horse) and wants to know what's up. Pablo says she's nobody to him, just the one who gave birth to him.

Santi and Ascanio argue about the fact that Ric is not really LdC and is in fact the Dread Parent Antillano. Santi's pissed because Cami's marriage isn't valid and he feels Ric took advantage of her. Ascanio tells him Cami always knew he was a pirate and knows the marriage isn't valid, but she doesn't care because she loves him. Santi thinks he must have forced her or threatened or bewitched her. Ascanio tells him that Ric didn't become a pirate by choice and that things are not just black and white. He accuses Santi of speaking out of jealousy and tells him he's being a hypocrite for not allowing for the possibility that Ric can be a good man that loves Cami.

LP and her buddy Mag (Magdalena) are walking back to the inn and Mag asks what the scoop is with Pablo. LP says it's none of her beeswax. Mag says he's cute and LP tells her he's not for her. They run into Ines and LP asks if she's local and if she knows Cami. Ines tells her Cami's her SIL and asks how she knows her. LP says she met her on the way and brought her over and mentions she's married to "El Antillano." Ines looks puzzled and LP realized she just screwed up. She covers by saying she calls Ric that 'cause he's from the Antilles. Ines tells her that Cami's in jail.

Ascanio gets back to SF by himself. Ines asks why he's not on the cart with Santi and he explains he and Santi had a fight. He asks about Cami and is told she's in jail.

Santi arrives home and tells Ofi that Ric is not LdC, but Salamanca, that he's a pirate, and that the marriage's not valid. Any louder and they would have heard him in the next town.

LP and Mag arrive back at the inn and Chino asks if she saw her son (so much for keeping Mag out of the loop). LP says he rejected her as expected. He tells her she needs to be patient and she replies she has no patience. She also tells him she stuck her foot in it and let it slip to one of Cami's relatives that Ric is El Antillano. She covered, but she's not sure it worked. Al arrives with some sort of permit to make the contraband look legit. He tells Chino they'd like to do all the distribution and Chino tells him they prefer the way things are.

Rita asks Ofi why Santi didn't stick around and wait for her. Ofi tells her she wasn't around so he changed and left. Rita asks where and Ofi says jail. Rita's pissed he went to see Cami and the baby cries. Ofi takes the baby and tells Rita once again how sorry she is she encouraged the marriage, that there's something sick about the way she talks about her sister, and that she doesn't deserve the child God sent her! Ouch!

Al, Lis, and Fran meet with Don E about the will. Don E tells her he's ruled in her favor and asks her to sign Cami's house arrest papers. Lis asks where Cami will stay and Don E says Justo's. Lis says no way, she might run away. She has to stay with me. Besides, she's gonna be my serf anyway. Nana hears this and goes to give Mani the chisme.

Ines and Ascanio discuss that LP called Ric El Antillano. Ines didn't buy the cover. Ascanio realizes it's hit the fan and decides to spill it all.

Santi's in jail and tells Cami that Ric's a pirate, etc. Cami's impactada and asks how he knows. He's shocked she knew and she says she loves him. He says he made her his ramera and Cami slaps him and says nobody, especially him, has a right to call her that. She reminds him that he wanted to make her his mistress and he reminds her it never actually happened. She says yeah, 'cause Ric stopped it.

Justo meets with Vasco (at some point Ines talked to Justo about forgiving Vasco) and they have a good cry. Vasco tells him he wants to change and that he misses Ines. They see Ursu and Uriel riding off. Justo agrees to let Vasco come home.

Ofi is feeling her granddaughter's back and she and her assistant talk about something I couldn't understand. I think the baby has a rash. Her assistant leaves and Ines comes in and they discuss Cami's situation and Rita says Cami already knew he was a pirate. Rita overhears and they tell her it's none of her business. They let it slip that it's regarding Cami and Rita becomes very interested.

Ric and Mario are in a canoe on their way to Chez Foreman. Mario makes another attempt to talk Ric out of it and Ric says he needs to help Cami.

Cami's clan (sans Rita of course) gather around the kitchen table about Ric. Justo can't believe Ric's a pirate, he seemed so nice. Santi wants to turn him in and Vasco tells him that he's talking out of jealousy. They yell at each other for a while and Justo tells them to knock it off. He tells them he wants no scandal, but once Ric comes back with the money, they will tell him to go away. Vasco and Santi argue about whether or not Cami should by allowed to leave with him. Vasco runs out with Ines closely behind.

Ric talks to Foreman and asks for money. Foreman wants to know if Ric's been making deals with his godfather. Ric reminds him that piracy's dying. They agree that Foreman will lend him the money, but Ric, his boats, and his men, have to do one final job.

Vasco and Ines visit Cami and tell her that Santi's got his panties in a wad. They are worried he'll turn in Ric, but are hoping he'll listen to Justo's wish to avoid further scandal. Cami tells them to send Santi over so she can talk him out of it. She also wants them to tell Jim and Ascanio that their freedom was part of the deal in Ric's payment plan, so they don't have to worry about being serfs. Just then Don E walks in and tells her he's ruled for Lis, but she'll go on house arrest tomorrow or so. Cami's glad to be going to her dad's, but Don E says not so fast, you're going to Lis! Cami's crushed and Ines curses Lis.

Santi plays with his baby and Rita asks if he knows what's up between Ric and pirates. He says he knows nothing. She says Cami was taken by pirates, so maybe she hooked up with one...Santi's disgusted and says he has to get to work.

Back on the Salamandra, Mario tells Ric he got his money, but this last gig might actually get him killed. He says if so, he hopes Cami's pregnant so she'll have a child to make her happy.

Santi runs into Jorge who asks about his biz and his leg. They discuss Cami and Jorge mentions in passing that there are still things he can do for Cami, if Santi asks...

Back in the cell, Cami begs Santi not turn Ric in. She promises she'll send him away for ever if Santi won't turn him in. Santi agrees, as long as Ric comes through.

Al toasts with Lis for her inheritance and asks if they can now sign their marriage contract. Lis says ok, but she wants to move to Cami's house since that's part of her payment. Al wants to know why and Lis says now that they'll be engaged, she doesn't want people to say they're living as husband and wife before the wedding. Al agrees, and say ok: marriage contract next week, and wedding as soon as the announcements are run. Lis says no problem. She probably figures she'll have her money by then and can skip town. Little does she know that Al will never let her get away with it.

Next week: Cami goes to work for Lis, and is treated like hell.

Stuff's a little out of order, but I think I hit everything. Feel free to fit in if I missed anything. - Margarita

La Traición, Fri, March 21 - Hugo has a dream and Soledad sniffs the flower

Lots of things happened tonight - but the good news is that Hugo's coming back to town.

Ursula puts out the fire in Soledad's clothing. Antonía says it is her fault - she thought she was in hell - but Ester blames Soledad. Fortunately, it appears that Soledad wasn't burned but after a few minutes she has intense abdominal pain. For some reason, Ester and Ursula have to go for Mad Max leaving Soledad alone with Antonía.

Hugo is unconscious but Boris says that his condition is different than a cataleptic attack. He didn't have any symptoms beforehand, he hadn't had any emotional distress. Boris sends Marina for Dr. Chirac. We see Hugo's dream. He is in a forest being called by a little girl. He asks her what he can do for her (what a sweet smile!) and she asks him not to leave her and points to a vision of Soledad crying out in pain and fear for her baby. At this moment, Hugo wakes up and tells Boris that Soledad is in danger.

It turns out that Dr. Max, along with all the other men in town, are at the tavern for the spectacular. This includes Lucas, who continues to demonstrate his weakness by letting his companions persuade him to have a drink.

Rebeca is worried that Hercu-less will crash the show and create a scene but the tavern owner tells that he will take care of Hercu-less. Sure enough, it appears that you have to have id to get into the show as well as a ticket. Hercu-less has a fake beard doesn't have any id and they are about to throw him out when Arturo ids Hercu-less as his employee and he stays. Arturo also spots Eloisa and Paquito in the crowd. Eloisa has paid Hercu-less to promote her suit with Arturo.

Guillermo is all dressed up in spiffy suit. He tells Margot that he is sad that Helena hasn't come to see him perform. He has always wanted to show her his talent and have her applauding from the front row. Margot says that maybe it is better she didn't come. She would just make him nervous.

Soledad can't understand why her baby is moving around so much. Antonía goes to make her some tea and in the hall tells herself that if it is God's will that Soledad lose her baby to remove the stain from the family - so be it. Well at least she didn't say it to Soledad.

Dr. Max is not in his laboratory but Ester and Ursula find a note that says he is at the Tavern. They also find Enrico at Dr. Max's. Upon being informed (I guess he didn't get the psychic message like he has before) that Soledad is ill, he wants to help. Ester refuses his help but Enrico follows them to the tavern. Helena tries to attend the spectacular but the bouncer doesn't believe she is Guillermo's wife since he never mentioned he was married. Then Ester and Ursula show up. The bouncer won't let Ester in without a ticket even to fetch the doctor. While the bouncer is arguing with Ester, Helena and Enrico slip in to the tavern.

Guillermo's opening act is a big success. There are demands for an encore but Guillermo says he has only practiced on piece. Then the Mysterious Lady performs. Her high-class act is basically a strip tease. However, she has barely gotten started when Manrique, the money lender, runs up and hands Rebeca a bunch of money to perform just for him or better yet to go off with him. This is too much for Hercu-less who punches him out. A wild brawl ensues during which Arturo rescues Eloisa from a lecherous patron and a drunk Lucas ducks out to Rebeca's dressing room.

Dr. Max has left the Tavern with Enrico before Rebeca starts to perform and she sees Enrico with the Obragons . Ester tells her driver to pick up Lucas at the club on the way back but Enrico tells her that Lucas is at the tavern . Ester clearly demonstrates what she considers most important when she sends the doctor, Enrico and Ursula to the house while she stays behind to find Lucas. Of course, she catches Lucas putting the moves on Rebeca but not before Rebeca finds out that Soledad and Enrico are friends and concludes that Soledad has something to do with the treasure. In their carriage, Lucas tells Ester that his conduct was insupportable and offers to leave the house but no such luck. Ester demands that he stay in the house to preserve appearances until Soledad has her baby.

The baby is moving so much that it is causing terrible pain for Soledad. Antonia thinks that it is contractions but all of a sudden the pain and the movement stop. Now Soledad is concerned that she can't feel the baby move at all. Soledad falls asleep.

Dr. Chirac does not know what happened to Hugo but he says that he has heard of out of body experiences like Hugo describes. Hugo asks Dr. Chirac why he inherited the catalepsy from his father but Alcides didn't. The doctor says that inherited diseases are like a lottery. Then Hugo asks if a child of Alcides could inherit catalepsy and the doctor says yes.

Dr. Max arrives at the Obregons and is concerned that he can't wake Soledad up. Ursula brings in, what else, the flower. Waving it under Soledad's nose brings her around (it also brings on a thunderstorm.) Dr. Max can't hear the baby's heartbeat and concludes that the fetus has died. He wants to give Soledad an injection presumably to induce labor or else she will die.

Eloisa lays it on thick and Arturo asks her to marry him. She is ecstatic but Paquito is jealous. Once Eloisa has Arturo's money, he vows to kill Arturo and have Eloisa for himself.

Back at the Hacienda, Helena tells Guillermo to enjoy his 5 minutes of fame and tomorrow
they will go back to their old lives. Guillermo says that now that he has discovered music again, he isn't going back to his old life of robbery. Helena refuses to accept this so Guillermo tells her that he isn't going to help her anymore. We also find out that Guillermo came from a rich family who gave him music lessons since he was a child. He has lost touch with his father, though and he is probably dead.

Hugo tells Boris and Marina that they are returning to the capital right away without even going to Dr. Chirac's lab to pick up some of the flower extract he just got. Hugo has interpreted his dream as meaning that Soledad's baby has inherited catalepsy, they are both in danger of dying and only the flower can help.

(So Soledad gets more suffering on Hugo's tab. At the beginning of the novela, he swore he would never inflict what his mother went through on another woman but he exposes a woman he loves to the chance that she will get pregnant and that the child could inherit his disease. Maybe she would have chosen to take the risk but he didn't tell her. The discovery of the flower may make lessen the effect of the disease but Dr. Chirac did not say it was a cure and as far as Hugo knew when he had sex with Soledad, there was no cure.)

(It would seem that the baby is having an attack of catalepsy in the womb, which is why Dr. Max can't hear the heartbeat. When Hugo and the flower 'bring the baby back to life,' Dr. Max is going to come to the same conclusion as Hugo - that the baby has inherited the disease from its father and Soledad and the baby will be in the evil doctor's crosshairs.)

Monday - Soledad, Ursula and Enrico try to escape from the house and have an accident. Get on the road, Hugo!!!
