Al Diablo Con Los Guapos #139, Friday 8-8: I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' babies!

OK, so the setup for tonight is that the younger set are on the way back from Puerto Vallarta on the road trip from hell. While stopping to fix a flat tire, Flor goes into labor. Yes, labor. And considering everyone else on this trip is either male or Valeria, who do you think is going to end up playing obstetrician?

Mili confirms that the baby's going to be born now, like right now, not later now. Everybody freaks out.

Luciana drinks twice her weight in alcohol as she accuses Damian of cleaning out her checking account. He denies it, of course, and says she must have drunk it all. She tries to scratch his eyes out, but he's more sober than she is, so he holds her off. Then he kicks her out of "his" office and tells her she's on her own from now on. Damn, that's cold, even for Damian.

Mat the Rat comes into Robledo Sr.'s office and tells him that Fernando has been killed and Mat will be killed too if he doesn't cooperate with the guy who killed Domingo Echavarria. He swears he's innocent. I don't think grandpa's buying that. Mat explains that the plot was for him to marry Marisela and then steal the girls' money. Mat says he can't tell the cops because the mob guys will kill him. More power to them, I say. Grandpa says they've got to take him to a hospital and Mat can tell the rest of the story on the way.

Florencia lies in the backseat with her knees up. Mili can't think of what else to do, so she prays to Jesús for help. Um, I believe his vocational training background was in carpentry, so I'm not sure how much help he'd be in this situation. Alejandro comes over to take a look, but Flor doesn't want him there…and Mili doesn't want him looking! Nor Rocky. Rocky faints dead away when Flor's knees fall apart. Valeria now comes over and has to tend to Rocky. Mili finally says that Alejandro will help her, but Flor tells them both to go away. Mili says they're her only options, even though she has no idea what to do.

Sor Cachete and Padre Manuel talk in the library. PM tells her that Damian came to visit. SC tells PM that she's worried about the Madre Superior. The doctor has been coming to visit and she's been keeping quiet about it.

Mili yells at "Florinda" to breathe. Rocky looks for instructions on how to deliver a baby in his book of roadside emergencies. He discovers that they need hot water. Much discussion on where the hot water should come from. Rocky ends up being sent to get it. It sounds like Mili's trying to convince the baby not to come out. Now they're all yelling at Rocky to bring towels…and disinfectant. Valeria has a lovely alcohol-free disinfectant in her luggage, thankfully. Seriously, I think fixing the tire and getting the hell back on the road and/or calling 911 would be a better idea than having the baby delivered by the Five Stooges.

Grandpa called Marisela to come to the hospital. He says they're going to the cops once they get Mat out of the hospital. Mat refuses because either (a) Villalobos will kill him and/or (b) the cops will think he's an accomplice and arrest him. He tries to convince Grandpa to let him flee the country. Grandpa says nothing will happen and goes looking for the doctor. Mat talks to himself, saying he's not going to jail and he walks out with his bright blue hospital gown and his pants. Yeah, thankfully we didn't have to be subjected to seeing his skinny butt.

Mili and Valeria are yelling at Flor to push. We hear a baby crying and see Alejandro faint out in front of the car. Mili hands the baby to Valeria and then cuts the cord. She takes the baby from Valeria and tries to hand her to Florencia. Florencia's a little squicked about holding the baby, but Hugo wants to have a look at her. Rocky finally came back with the hot water, but doesn't know what to do with it. Meanwhile Alejandro keeps lying on the ground passed out. Mili uses the water to wake him up. He faints again when he remembers why he fainted in the first place. Valeria keeps holding the baby, with Hugo looking on. Florencia just looks around as the "something bad is going to happen" theme song plays.

Mat the Rat runs out of the hospital and gets into Marisela's car. He tells her to take off, quick.

Hugo gets Flor back into the front seat of the car. He stares at Alejandro and Mili all googly-eyed over the baby. Mili tries to give Florencia the baby, but she won't take it. Yeesh! It's dangerous to just have the baby bouncing around in the car. Hugo says they're close to a town and should get there fast so Florencia and the baby can get checked out and they can get diapers for the kid. Flor keeps giving nasty looks to Alejandro and Mili while they keep looking all googly-eyed at the baby…and each other. Poor kid's going to have a hard time figuring out what to make of the story of what happened when she was born.

It's beating o'clock at the prison and Constancio doesn't have all the money necessary to avoid it. Once Mono finds out it's not all the money, Constancio starts the fast talking. He promises that Mono will have all the money before noon tomorrow. Mono says rules are rules and the other two guys get antsy to start teaching the new guy a lesson. Constancio finally says he'll pay double, which is a different story. Mono says he'll take the double, but if not, he'll have to pay up in the locker room (los vestidores), if you catch his meaning. The backup band leaves and Mono settles in for story hour.

Macarena, in another fabulous red dress and more cleavage on display than the previous evening, sings at her club again. Damian asks for a table and a tequila. Macarena takes notice and really belts it out for him. The crowd goes wild. The bouncer leads Macarena to Damian's table. She certainly doesn't invest much in the furniture. Looks like they're sitting on folding chairs. She has someone bring a bottle of tequila, to give Damian a shot of courage. She attempts to suffocate Damian in her cleavage. Damian remembers he's got to take one for the team, but he just can't bring himself to do it. He calls her "Sor Catalina" and says she's a pervert. She realizes he confused her with her sister, so he might know where her sister is. Damian goes out to his car and Macarena follows him, but he takes off before she gets a chance to ask where Catalina is…"She has something of mine." She goes back inside and tells the bouncer it's nothing, she'll explain it to him later. Come on, now, don't tell me Sor Cachete has the money…and still they have to fundraise for the orphanage every time one of those kids sneezes?

Sor Cachete thanks Gloria and Chamuco for inviting her to the movies, but she says there'd better be dinner after. She goes to tell the Madre Superior where she's off to. After she leaves, Chamuco breaks it to Gloria that he's not going to the movies with them since he's got to start his new job as a taxi driver tonight. Gloria is not happy. She really wants him to go to the movies with them, but he reminds her they need money for the baby. Gloria eventually agrees. See what happens when you lie about being pregnant? Let that be a lesson to you.

Mat the Rat and Marisela are back at her apartment. She wants him to swear he had nothing to do with "it." I guess he just told her that the Wolfman killed her daddy. She can't understand why he would do that. Mat explains he wants to take the business away from them. He says he wouldn't play along and that's why he looks like ground hamburger. The doorbell rings, but Mat doesn't want her to answer it. Marisela tells him it's Grandpa because she agrees with Grandpa that they should go to the cops. She says she won't let them live in fear. She answers the door and Grandpa is there with Detective Cienfuegos ("hundred fires") . He recognizes Mat from running off from the police station the other day. He wants an explanation. Mateo gives Grandpa a betrayed look, Marisela weeps, and Grandpa looks really, really disappointed in his super-loser grandson.

The young folks have returned to Casa Belmonte and Braulio is thrilled to see them and the baby. Mili is still holding her while Florencia looks pissed off. She says that the doctor in Middle of Nowhere said the baby was healthy, so yay! Death glare from Florencia. Braulio congratulates Alejandro and Flor and she's like "whatever, I just want to shower and then go visit Constancio in jail." Alejandro tells her she should rest, but she wants to confront Constancio about killing her dad. Mili tries to give the baby to Flor, again, but Alejandro's the one who ends up taking the baby upstairs as Braulio coos. Hugo can't help smiling, but then he looks at Milagros smiling and gives her the death glare again. Mili says they need to talk, but he says he has nothing to say to her and he's not interested in listening to her either. Valeria tells her to be patient and eventually Hugo will understand. Braulio wants to know about the gossip.

Valeria comes into Andrea's room. She wants to know how her Daddy is doing. Andrea tells her he'll be in jail for years what with all the evidence against him. Valeria tells her that the baby has been born and she wants to celebrate the birth, but everyone's upset about Daddy being in jail and Mommy being in rehab. Andrea says that's exactly why they should celebrate, to take their minds off things. Valeria goes off to change so she can go on the jail visit too.

Valeria, Alejandro, and Florencia sit at a table with Constancio. Alejandro explains that they didn't bring the baby because Flor had just breast-fed her (seriously? I feel sorry for the poor kid just thinking of all that bitterness and hatred and CRAZY that she's getting from Flor) and they left her with Socorro. Constancio starts with the "I didn't do it, you believe me, right?" Alejandro reminds him he's lied his whole life. Constancio reminds him that Domingo threatened him, but Alejandro remembers that Constancio threatened right back. Constancio said he only planned to ruin him, not kill him. Alejandro says he'll never cease to be amazed at what a rat bastard Constancio can be. Constancio says his conscience is clear (clear or nonexistent?) and he swears he's not a killer. Valeria says she wants to believe him, but he's lied about so many things…and he tried to separate her from Rocky. Constancio says if he was the killer they think he is, wouldn't Rocky be dead and buried? Now everyone, including Florencia, agrees to give him the benefit of the doubt. Florencia says if it turns out that he did it, she'll spend all her money keeping him locked up. Mafia Daddy turns over in his grave…any properly-brought-up Mafia Princess should be threatening him with death. Much more economical than wasting all of Daddy's hard-earned money on keeping Constancio in prison. Flor excuses herself and says she'll wait out front for them.

Rocky tells Socorro, Horacio, and Lina his version of the baby's birth while Socorro cradles a doll. Rocky claims that Mili fainted and Alejandro jumped out the window of the car. He says the baby popped out like an "esquida"…I don't see that as an official word, but is he calling his niece a squid? Socorro tells him he delivered the baby all wrong since he was saying that he pushed the baby out by pushing on Flor's stomach. Gloria now comes in and mentions Mili delivering the baby and Rocky fainting. Rocky goes to clean up the car (ew!) while the others laugh.

Constancio blah, blah, blah's about how crappy he feels, how he's scared, he's going to spend the rest of his life locked up, etc. He cries. Alejandro says if he's innocent, he'll get out. Constancio says even if he gets out, his career is over. Valeria says he's going to clear his name, but Constancio's not optimistic about it. Alejandro even manages to look sad. He looks up and sees Robledo Sr. and the cop guy. Alejandro says he wants to give Constancio a chance to clear his name, but Constancio better not let him down. Robledo Sr. and Cienfuegos come in and Alejandro says that Constancio is innocent. He offers to stay in jail so that Constancio can get out and find the real killer. Dude, that is the stupidest thing I ever heard. Constancio at least has the grace to call it stupid. Alejandro insists that he has to clear his name. Valeria reminds him that the baby and Mili need him. Sr. Robledo says that won't work and also they have good news--Constancio's getting out. Cienfuegos says they don't have the killer, but they're looking for him--Gustavo Villalobos. Valeria's thrilled. Constancio asks Alejandro for a hug. Alejandro looks really disturbed as Constancio hugs him.

The cops close in on the Wolfman's hideout. Of course, because we're in Ultimas Semanas, he's sitting there making a shady business deal. The cops come in with their assault rifles. The get Villalobos and the other two guys and take them out to the cars, after explaining to Villalobos what he's getting arrested for. Looks like Mono Salazar is going to have some competition soon.

Robledo Sr. is filling in Constancio and kids on the details of what Mat told him. Alejandro says he doesn't believe Mat to be innocent and that he made Alejandro look bad so that he could get his hands on the company. Constancio admits that he helped Mat to screw over Alejandro…no, wait, he admits that Mat asked for help, but he wouldn't help him, since he would never do that. Oh, Constancio, will you ever stop being a rat bastard? Grandpa is a little shocked, because he knows Mat is a rat, but he doesn't think he's a killer. Constancio remembers the night that he found Mateo hiding under his desk. Constancio surmises he must have been planting evidence. Cienfuegos looks like it's all adding up for him…he says he's going to call and have Mat detained since he's over giving his deposition. Alejandro comforts Grandpa.

At the station, Mat finishes giving his deposition, such as it is. The cop says he's going to go print the deposition so that Mat can sign it. Marisela is giving him puppy dog eyes for being all beat up. Mat says he was just trying to protect her. The desk guy gets the note about detaining Mat. When Mat goes over to ask if he can sign yet, the desk guy tells him he's being detained as an accomplice. Marisela is impactada, especially when the desk guy says they have proof against him. Mat the Rat gets hauled away.

Grandpa Robledo goes off to finish arranging for Constancio's release. Alejandro says he's leaving because Florencia's waiting for him. Constancio thanks him for his nice gesture. Valeria tells him they need to be closer, as a family, especially since mom's in rehab. Constancio hugs Valeria and calls her his good-luck charm. The record scratches as he tells her he's not too happy about the, ahem, runway show in Guadalajara, hm?

Lina, Mili, and Socorro fawn over the baby and how sweet she is. Mili encourages Lina to practice holding the baby. Oh, la Floreenda esa's going to love that! Socorro's offended that Florencia left the baby like this. Mili defends Florencia to the baby, saying she's going through a tough time and they need to be understanding. Yes, Saint Mili. She tells the gals that Florencia went to see Constancio in jail. Lina lets slip that Constancio is Mili's dad. Socorro is impactadissima!

And Monday…Marisela tells Florencia that Rigoberto's back; Damian and Andrea get busted; Florencia and Mili fight about the baby--well, that's refreshing, at least they're not fighting over Alejandro for once.

Fuego en la Sangre, 08/08/08: Revolting Revelations and the Hunt for the Hallowed Homestead

[There is something to be said for the old adage that you can pick your pals but not your parents, your friends but not your family.]

As we begin Augie rolls himself into the front hallway of the hacienda yelling at Gabriela about why she is enjoying tormenting Sofia about her origin. “Just what are you after?” he asks her. She avoids answering by saying she’s not after anything but the truth. (Huh? Chalk this up to crappy writing cuz I’m as confused as Augie is. She’s not after the truth; she’s hinting at the truth to vex the two of them.) Augie wants to know what ‘truth’ she’s babbling about. Gabi throws out another irksome riddle, “--One that’s very painful and which neither of you wants to know." Just then Raquel, the White Witch, appears at the doorway and says she has an urgent need to speak with her. Augie turns around and tells Raquel that if she came to rat on him for coming over to her place she can speak freely in front of him and then the three of them can clear up just what service she performed for Gabi that she would pay her for it with valuable Robles property. Both women raise their eyebrows.

Raqui begs off and tells Gabi that she of course told Augie it was too delicate a topic and that Gabriela should be the one to tell him if she wanted. Gabi tells her dad it’s none of his business, but Augie says it darned well is since he’s the owner of the property. Gabi deflects and parries by saying then perhaps he might be grateful for the way his fortune has increased and stop annoying her because right now she and Raqui have more important things to discuss. As she and Raquel walk off and leave him to stew he pulls out a piece of paper and a pen that he’s hidden and begins to write something down.

Once they’re in her office, Gabi gripes at Raqui for having such a big mouth but Raqui says she never said a thing to her father about this and doesn’t know how he got wind of it. Gabi should check it out herself if she wants to know. Gabi says she plans to investigate the whole thing and then she immediately changes the subject. The cat claws come out. “So why’d you come here? To look for Fernando?” Raqui denies anything is going on with her and Fernando. She’s a married woman after all. “Besides it wasn’t I who was in the restaurant in downtown Puebla and who was smooching him without a shred of decency in front of everybody.”

Gabi’s got no choice and decides she’ll tell Raquel the truth –the way she sees it at least. Raqui’s raccoon eyes get even rounder as Gabi reveals she’s got a thing for her son-in-law. “Oh don’t be shocked! You know very well that despite still being Sofia’s husband, nothing ever happened between Sofia and him. She always despised him and she caused him so much grief and pain.”

Raqui, who is about as ready for a good shower as the rest of us about now, wisely keeps mum about said suffering SIL hitting on her lonely rich self just a couple of days ago. Gabi prattles on about how they have a right to be happy, that she’s protected him (yep, he’s been her “protegé” all right) and he has dedicated himself to caring for her. She drones on about how she’s given him a lot and now he’s obligated to respect her and to be faithful. (What, like a dog or maybe her sex slave?) That was why when Raqui approached them the other day at the table she immediately thought there was something between the two of them. Raqui denies again that there is or was anything between them and emphasizes that there never will be. She reminds Gabi that she is a married woman and they both know her husband’s personality. She would be crazy to cheat on him (and to get caught, as she conveniently leaves out). He’d kill her.

Raqui takes out her own claws now. Anyway, the only reason she approached Gabi and Fernando, she says, was because she was so shocked to see Gabi acting like some kind of… floozy. Gabi tells Raquel to shut up and just forget what she saw. She has explained what is going on and the two of them have agreed to join the two families, so now they’ve got to force Benito and Sarita to marry each other. Raqui laughs a little and says well, she’d love to pacify her husband that way especially after that nasty fiasco, but she is not sure he’d be interested in being related to a woman who is fooling around with her son-in-law!” (Meeooowww! R-r-ro-o-ow-w-w-l!)) Gabi hauls off and smacks Raqui up the side of the head. “Shut up you damned b!tch!”

Raqui is smarting from the pain but only gives Gabriela a verbal warning never to hit her again. She goes for the raw threat instead: “You and I have a secret and if I tell it to your father it would be your everlasting hell!” (White Witch has spoken.) Raquel turns on her heel and races out. Crabi is oblivious to this threat and thinks only about how Fernando had been telling her the truth all along and that she misjudged him. She worries about what she can do to repair the rift.

As for Fernando, he is sitting in his chair in the office of the Bad Love Bar puffing away on his cheroot, telling himself that he cannot allow Anselmo to take his golden goose, Rosario, with him to parts unknown. He gets up and starts for the door as Gabi enters. He is impactado to think she’d deign to show her face let alone come looking for him there. She takes one look around the room, sniffs and asks him why he’s still involved in this business. Fer gets a kick playing the offended lover. “Again with the explanations! You think the whole world is your property! Ok. I’ll tell you once more.” Armando, he lies, has been putting him up for a bit because she kicked him out of the hacienda, duh. Gabi grovels and forces herself to stammer out her need to be forgiven.

Feo is really enjoying this little scene; he knows exactly which of her buttons to push. He now feigns frustration, saying that she wouldn’t believe him unless it came from Raquel. He says he considers themselves like “husband and wife”, but he’s been too offended by her actions. She begs him repeatedly to come back and to forget everything she told him. He refuses and rubs her face in it. “I could have made you very happy, but you prefer living life full of bitterness.” No, he has his dignity. So, their little relationship is caput. “Go away. Get out and don’t ever bother to come looking for me again!” He pushes her toward the door –and, for once the b!tch is actually speechless. In fact, it’s all she can do to drag herself forlornly through it. As she leaves he snickers to himself that he told her she was going to suffer and suffer she will. “She’ll come crawling to my feet begging for me to come back. Ha!” His thoughts then return to the business at hand: getting rid of that nuisance, Anselmo, once and for all.

Speaking of which, across town in the little clinic Rosario wakes up to find Anselmo staring at her from the foot of the bed. “It can’t be! You’re dead! You’re supposed to be dead!” No, Anselmo tells her, he is alive and he’s escaped and come back to be with her and their little boy. (Now, just how that is supposed to work with the authorities hot on his trail, I don’t think Anselmo, who has got a bit of a short in his chandelier, has quite figured out.) Rosario, though, wants no part of it or him. She yells at him for taking advantage of her innocence and gullibility by tricking her into doing bad things that have cost her dearly ever since, especially suffering over her son. He tells her he is sorry and that he really wants to make it up to her, but she refuses and says she doesn’t love him any longer. He begs her again in the name of their son. “Forgive me and give me another chance. Do it for our son.”

Rosario has moved on. She tells Anselmo that it’s time he knows the truth: Luisito is not his son. He is Fernando’s! Even a half-wit like Anselmo, whose cabeza [head] is minus more than just his cabello [hair] knows what this means. Rosario quickly and tearfully explains that the night they took him off to prison Fernando raped her and she got pregnant. Anselmo’s eyes suddenly are shining yellow like he just might be related to Rosemary’s devil baby and 'murder most foul' is the only thing that the enraged and brainless brute can think about.
================

Across town at the bakery, Quintina’s sister, Hortensia, is still suffering from hoof-in-mouth disease. She has quickly run in to return the repaired picture of Libia to Juan. She tells him that Quntina had been hiding it from Sofia. On cue Sofia shows up asking to see what it is they’re hiding from her. Hortensia, after removing her foot from her mouth, slinks out leaving Juan in the lurch. Juan tells Sofia that it’s better if he shows her something first and they head out for Libia’s grave site.

When Juan and Sofia arrive at the grave she tells him she remembers the place from the night she ran in there to get out of the storm. It was when they first met and she never quite understood why he became so furious with her when he found her there. He explains that it is his sister’s grave and they come there whenever they’re troubled because they believe somehow that she will be able to help them solve their problems. He was upset that night because at the time he still thought she was his enemy. Sofia wants him to explain what he means, but he refuses repeatedly because he says he will surely lose her forever if he does. She tries to assure him she won’t (which can only mean their relationship is certainly doomed). She says she’s told him a thousand times she will love him forever and always and that he will never lose her. Juan, she says, has got to trust her enough to confide in her about what is behind all this secrecy.

Oscar shows up about then and stops just outside the entrance to the cave when he sees Sofia there. He listens off to the side while Juan tells Sofia his reasons. In another two hanky scene Juan tells Sofia that as children they were constantly running, in fear for their lives, from their parents’ murderers. He carries that fear with him still and that’s why he’s been so protective of them all. He says he’d gladly give his life without a single complaint to save any one of them. He remembers chasing after his two younger brothers who were so exhausting running around like little devils everywhere; but his little sister was as special as they come, and as delicate. She stole their hearts from the moment she began to crawl. He breaks down and tearfully says he can’t understand why God took her from them. Anyway, the night he learned she’d died he became filled with hate at life.

Even after they found refuge with that charitable woman who taught them about bread, Juan continues, he realized his parents’ murderers were still looking for them and they had to flee again. He provided for them all by doing odd jobs here and there. He was charged with protecting them. However, he feels in the end he failed. He failed with his sister and now with Franco. He blames himself for what has happened to them. Oscar can’t stand it anymore (neither can I after hearing it for the umpteenth time). He runs into the cave (Hel-lo?) and tells Juan he’s not to blame, not at all. (Note: Libia must agree since just then the flower starts glowing above them.) Oscar says nobody should dare reproach Juan. He’s given his all and the best of himself. Life will reward him for it and he should be happy here with the woman he loves and the child they’re expecting together.

Sofia and the two of them begin to pray to their “sainted” sister to help Franco and to protect them all. The little flower glows and tinkles again. Libia is definitely on board with this and will no doubt give it her all from the great beyond
=================

Back at the Bad Love, meanwhile, in the hallway Armando unexpectedly runs into Anselmo who is on his way to pay his murderous respects to Fernando. Addle-brained Anselmo realizes instinctively that Armando has been Fer’s accomplice in the abusive treatment of Rosario all these long years and he attacks him. He begins to choke Manny, who manages eventually, to squeeze out enough of an accusation against Fernando to make Anselmo stop and pay attention. Manny swears to Anselmo that Feo was never his friend; he betrayed him and was the one that got him sent away to prison.

Back at the sainted Libia’s graveside Juan, Sofia and Oscar finish praying and Oscar tells them he was on his way to talk to Juan after “discussing” things with little sis here. He’s a bit embarrassed to mention it in front of Sofia but has no choice and says it’s his MIL. Gabi has been constantly humiliating him and the latest was because he didn’t know anything about growing chile peppers. Quite conveniently both Juan and Sofia know how to raise a proper crop of chiles and they hike over to the hacienda to check out the field and begin teaching him what they know.
===============

Back in town at the Bad Love Anselmo barges into Fer’s office and finds Fernando chomping on another cheroot. He gives Fer a (most satisfying and long overdue) beating for the way he lied, betrayed him to the cops, and continually raped Rosario. He tells Fer he also found out that Luisito is not his son at all but Fernando’s! Anselmo then pulls a gun on him and is ready to shoot him dead. Alas our joy at seeing Fernando get another bloody bruising is short-lived as, unfortunately, Anselmo hesitates and Fer is able to wrestle the gun out of his hands. Fernando immediately shoots Anselmo in the heart –or close enough-- and after taking a few too many labored and (according to the hubster, unrealistic) additional seconds to stumble around the office and curse Feo, he drops to the floor and breathes his last.

Fernando smirks triumphantly as he looks over at his handiwork. A second later Eva barges in looking for somebody and realizes Anselmo is lying on the floor there near her feet and has assumed room temperature. She screams at Fernando, “Murderer! Murderer!” Fer stares over at her and then looks away, apparently rather blasé about it all.

Meanwhile, Juan, Oscar and Sofia have made it over to the chile fields. Juan looks around and suddenly spies an old oak tree with initials carved into it. It’s their old oak tree, the one with the same FR emblem carved into it. He calls Oscar over and whispers to him it’s the old tree with the same emblem as the one on their old trunk. Their father carved it out years ago when they were boys. Juan wonders what their land is doing inside of Elizondo land. Sofia sees the fuss and he rather awkwardly accuses her father of being their parents’ murderer.

Sofia warns him not to make such accusations without a single bit of proof because even if it were so and he were capable of such a thing –which she clearly states he was not—that would change their relationship completely. Any slander against her daddy is slander against her and her family. Oscar then insists there has to be some other explanation so Juan apologizes, Sofia accepts and they’re off to find Augie since he’s the only one they can trust who would have an explanation.
================

Back again in Fernando’s office, Fer shed’s crocodile tears and swears to Eva that it was a matter of self-defense. He was defending (sniff) Rosario (sniff) and her little boy from being carried off with this dangerous escaped criminal! Armando rushes in just then and sees Anselmo laid out on the floor. He tells Fernando that he will have to turn himself in to the authorities. Fernando swears again he killed him in self-defense when he attacked him. Eva doesn’t say another word, just grabs her purse and races out of the office. When she’s gone Armando asks what really happened in there. Feo tells Manny that Anselmo was like a crazy man and all over him, accusing him of taking advantage of Rosario and even of (Gasp!) persecuting her. Then Feo turns and looks directly at Manny and in an accusatory voice says, “He also accused me of betraying him and said I was to blame for him being in jail….” Armando gets a sheepish look on his face and says it wasn’t him. He never even spoke to the guy. “M-m-maybe it was Rosario!” he stutters. “Whoever it was,” Fernando threatens, “I’m going to find out and they will pay for it!”

Then, on a lighter note, Fernando figures that the one good thing to come out of all of this is there is one less hassle now that they’re shed of the sorry SOB. “Anyway, nobody will be able to accuse me of anything. The guy’s a fugitive. Oh, though, one thing he told me did get me thinking.” “—Yeah, what?” “—Anselmo told me Rosario’s little boy wasn’t his.” “—Whose then?” Fernando steps over the body and sinks into the couch and in a deliberate show of contempt, he puts his boots on Anselmo's lifeless torso like a footrest. “He assured me that he’s mine! The boy is mine!” Armando is slack-jaw impactado from this little bombshell.
========

Oscar, Juan and Sofia are now at Augie’s. They are at the table and he is showing them the two maps he has of the property lines. One is Juan’s of the original under the Robles’ ownership. The other is the last one Augie and Bernardo had ordered done so they could determine boundary lines. Neither one, he says, shows the area of land that the tree lies in. That land was acquired without either his or Bernardo’s knowledge. Augie had investigated its origin and found it belonged to a family named “Robles.” Oscar asks him if he is sure about this, and Aguie replies that he is very certain. Juan admits to Sofia and her granddad then that they are those Robles’ and that their true name is Robles-Reyes. Confused, Augie says he thought their name was Reyes. Juan explains that Reyes is his mother’s family’s name and they used it so their parents’ murderers couldn’t track them and kill them too.

Oscar asks then if their land wasn’t part of the Hacienda San Augustin’s property, how does it happen that it really is? Augie answers that ownership went from the Robles-Reyes to the Uribe’s, and then to the Elizondo’s. It’s something that apparently Gabi acquired in exchange for something else that she hasn’t wanted to explain to him. Juan’s first idea is to rush off and demand answers from her, but Sofia tells him to wait. It would be better if she and Augie do the asking. Augie agrees saying that you don’t win a war without strategic planning. Impulsiveness will get them nowhere fast and, knowing Gabriela, she is never going to tell the two of them anything. Just let him and Sofia investigate and determine Gabi’s role in all of this. In the meantime they need to question Raquel Uribe. Given the circumstances, she’s got no justification at all for hiding the truth.
==========

Along the way, while galloping to the Uribe estate, Juan tells Oscar that it seems Widow Elizondo again is the enemy and Bernardo as well. Oscar isn’t so sure about Bernardo because he feels the old guy really did love Libia. Juan disagrees because Bernardo lied and never told them he was married. Oscar answers that they’ve lied to his three daughters too, but it doesn’t necessarily mean they might not love them. Juan admits he has a point and that then once more love must be put ahead of vengeance. He worries, though, that this could cause a huge rift between him and Sofia. Oscar says it would now be God’s doing and reminds him he’s always told them they’re marked by Fate. Juan, resolute, answers that first they will get answers from Raquel Uribe and afterwards from Gabriela Elizondo!

As for Gabi, she’s in her bedroom weeping and wailing for her Fernando to come back to her. It is going to be a while, though, if he ever does, since at that very instant he is being hauled away in handcuffs by the local constable, aka, sheriff. Fernando tells the sheriff that it was self-defense against a fugitive of the law. He can check at the prison himself. The sheriff says he intends to, but in the meantime Fernando is going to be behind bars. As they head out the door Fernando throws a meaningful look over at Armando. Once they’re gone, though, Manny shuts the office door and breaks out laughing. “You really screwed the pooch this time, Fernando! Me? I’m the one left in charge of all of this. Now I’m the patron and you will pay for all the humiliation you’ve caused me. Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha!”
==========

Juan and Oscar arrive at the Uribe estate. Juan takes one look around at the main house and his surroundings and knows immediately that it is their old hacienda and their lost land. The two swear to get it all back because “The Reyes’ have returned and no one will be able to grab their land from them this time!”

Inside the hacienda the two demand answers from Raquel, who hems and haws and says she doesn’t know a thing about any of it. Her husband bought the property from the old owners, but sadly, she never found out who they were. When her husband gets back into the country from his business trip she’ll let him know they want to speak with him. This is not what Juan wants to hear. Oscar asks Raqui then what she knows about the deal made with Gabriela Elizondo and what was given in exchange for that property? She’s rattled for only a second before becoming enraged to hear such impertinent questions in her own house. (Now I’ve never understood why it matters where an impertinent question is asked, inside or out. Rude is rude and a question is still a question.) She yells at them that they have no right to interrogate her this way, but Juan objects and says they have every right. All this land was Robles property and they are the Robles.

Raqui’s raccoon eyes are like saucers now. This little revelation has her impactada and gasping for breath. (Wow! Two body slammers all in the same day!) Oscar adds, “Yeah, what do you know? Our parents were murdered for that land. So, you’re wrong and yes, we have EVERY right.” Raqui plays dumb and insists they’ll just have to wait for her husband to return from his trip. “Get out of my house now! Just leave already!” she screams at them. Juan tells her they’re leaving but rest assured they’ll be back because the estate and all this land belong to them. They are going to get it back whatever the cost!

Meanwhile, Sofia and Augie have Gabi cornered in her office at the hacienda. Gabi tries to deflect their questions by insulting Sofia. She tells her she is dead to her. “Your presence sullies the honor of this sacred home. (That’s rich.) Get out and never come back because I cannot stand to even look at you, nor (with a look at Augie) at you either.” Augie tells her not to think it’s any great shakes having to see her mug either, but they’re there bothering her because they have to clarify just what deal she struck with Raquel Uribe in exchange for the lands at the back end of the property, those that border along the Uribe’s land. Gabi tries shooing them away again and says she’s got no reason to say a thing to them, so get out and do not come back there again.

Sofia shows a little backbone and demands an answer from her mother. “You will have to tell us first why the lands that belong to the Robles are now part of this estate, and above all, because the Reyes’ parents were murdered in order to strip them of it! Their name is actually Robles-Reyes!” Gabi knits her brow betraying just a bit of unease at this new revelation. It would seem that life has suddenly become somewhat more complicated for the Widow Elizondo.

Querida Enemiga August 8, 2008 – Sara Has a Very Good Hair Day

Hi, all—if this seems choppy, you’re probably not hallucinating. I did it from a combo of YouTube and watching it once in my hotel room with captions, but no DVR to play it back. Fill in the gaps, make the corrections. :-) Thanks!

Barbara and Snortensia sit in the clinic waiting room. Barb calls Diana an upstart and Snortensia agrees. Same old, same old. I missed three weeks and the script didn’t change. The Omar Armendáriz family group walks into the waiting area with Sara watching closely.

Lorena meets Sara in the cafeteria of the clinic. That Sara really gets around, doesn’t she? Lorena describes her rejection by Omar and Zulema sadly. Sara offers her brand of comfort—they part and Sara mutters that Lorena should get far away.

Outside the clinic Lorena absently drops her purse and Alonso picks it up before he notices it’s Lorena. At an arm’s length, they actually notice each other and face off. Lorena has learned the blank-face stare after weeks with Alonso. She snatches her purse, tersely thanks him, and stalks off. He’s his usual insipid self and goes into the clinic while Sara mutters self-congratulations. They’ll never be together again.

Maruja comforts Jaime, who isn’t really isn’t feeling very worthy of comfort. If he hadn’t come the night before wouldn’t have happened. Yeah, but it happened. It’s important what happens form now on, Maruja tells him. She smiles encouragingly and he half smiles and wrings his hands.

Sara approaches artfully as Alonslow gives a nurse instructions. Such awful circumstances are bringing them together! Alonslow comforts her (there’s a lot of that going on. Fortunately, at least some of it is sincere—but not in this scene. In fact, not in any scene with Sara). She seizes the opportunity to bad-mouth Lorena’s impertinence. And to get a full-body press from Alonslow. He’s such a dud I can’t even drool.

Tweedle One aka Heriberto aka some other name I haven’t learned yet (wow, he doesn’t even have his funky hat on!) and Ern meet in a restaurant on business. Tweedle assures Ern this new opportunity is going to be way better than his other restaurant was. He’s got the place! He wants Ern to see it. Ern beams. One question I personally want to ask: will the patrons have to take their shoes off?

Jacqui’s Mami has hit town, and Jacqui instructs her by phone that she needs to catch a taxi over. What, Jacqui’s not meeting her at the airport? Nope, sorry, and don’t be getting on my last nerve. So, Mami tries a guilt trip. And hangs up. Jacqui sighs and hangs up. Apparently dueling guilt trips don’t work for this pair.

Diana and Zulema arrive at the very full waiting room of People’s Clinic 23 with somber looks. Zulema hands Omar a brown bag lunch (okay, clear zip lock bag) and scolds him –he has to eat. They chat briefly with Julián and Rossy. In the other corner, Snortensia and Barbara exchange looks. Where the heck is Jaime? (If you only knew). Barb worriedly flashes back to an intimate moment with Ickturo in the office—he was telling her how nifty it would be if she was a widow. What? Could our Banshee Barb actually care if she’s widowed? Snortensia brings her out of it and tells her to go look for Jaime. She jumps up to obey and Snortensia gives a look over at Julián and Rossy—the former with his arm around the latter. Snorty’s nose twitches in disgust. It measures about a 3.4 on the Richter scale.

Ickturo and his trashy Mami chat in a hall at the office; she seizes the opportunity to bad-mouth Valeria. She’s sooo proud of him, though and tells him so. What a great position he has at the head of this company! Ickturo – for some obscure reason – stops her Valeria-bashing rant. She launches in with more force yet and he shuts her up—that’s my wife you’re talking about. Trashy Mami is indignant—is he putting Val above her? They volley back and forth until she cuts it off by stalking away with him calling “Mamá, Mamá” after her. His cell phone rings. It’s Barb. He smiles and greets her, and she launches into him. She wants to know right now why he tried to kill Jaime. Ickturo is flabbergasted. Barb demands to know what he did to Jaime’s car to cause the accident. Ickturo is commercial impactado.

Ickturo demands to know what she means. Well, he’s the only one who would benefit from Jaime’s death—Ickturo’s the one who wants to be with her. [Have you looked around, Barb? There’s a short but significant line of folks who would benefit.] She hangs up and Ickturo is left wondering qué the heck. Apparently his memory is shorter than Barb’s.

In the waiting room, two groups anxiously linger to hear any news. Omar’s little group is quiet, and Barb strides back to Snorty wondering where Jaime is. Snorty thinks it's strange. Barb’s phone rings and Ickturo starts to tell her he doesn’t know where the heck she came up with this, but Barb cuts him off. And covers up. Wrong number.

Speaking of the King of Rome, Jaime and Maruja (smiling fondly???!!!) walk through a hall. She excuses herself to go work. Jaime gently takes her hand in both of his and thanks her for the help. Maru is impactada. [What, this possibility never occurred to you?] Rossy bounces up and shuts up as soon as she sees this interaction, eyes like saucers. Is Maru going to work? Yes, of course. She and Jaime exchange a few more words—his of thanks once more—and he passes behind her close enough to brush her back. Maru watches him go and then asks Rossy what the heck SHE’S looking at. Rossy, eyes still big, shrugs. That’s what she’d like to ask Mami. What’s going on? She fusses at Maru, who tells her he’s having a rough time at the moment. Maru was just listening. Rossy warns her he’s married. Maruja is offended and after a few more pointed words on both sides, Maru stalks off to work with Rossy trailing. And fussing.

Jaime has entered the building (PC 23). Predictably, Snorty launches into him re: his whereabouts all night. Barb scolds in harmony. They couldn’t find him anyplace. Enough, already! Jaime leans forward and notices Omar’s family across the aisle. He starts up and Snorty holds him back—don’t even THINK about it. Jaime protests, but Snorty tells him not to complicate things. Zulema leans over to Omar—isn’t he going to greet his brother? Apparently not. He glares in Jaime’s direction. Jaime has to make the first move.

Sara has seized yet another opportunity to bend Alonslow’s ear. She feels so alone with all this happening with Sara and Vasco! But trust Alonslow to come to the rescue. She tells herself she wants his heart and we see their hands on the table—he takes hers into his, suggesting there is intimacy to come. Blech. They smiiile at each other. Double Blech. Her tears come prettily, but it’s a 6 on Ferro’s UCS because they’re totally fake.

Barb leaves the hospital and finds Ickturo. She rips him a new one. How could he even think to come around here? He tries to convince her he did nothing to her son, and not even to Jaime. But he said…..Ickturo his only crime is to love her. She believes him and asks him to excuse her. He’s really concerned for her son. She thanks him. Ickturo dodged a bullet.

Julián tries to comfort Diana as they walk down the hall in the clinic. Barb storms back in to the waiting room as Bruno comes looking for the closest relatives. Like he can’t figure out who Snortensia is. He tells them the arm came out of the surgery fine (across the room Zulema thanks God) but Vasco’s in a coma. Barb cries. Bruno explains the coma specifics. Omar and Zulema are dejected for their hanai (Hawaii term, sort of adopted) young ‘un. Snorty wants to know what they can do; Bruno says just be patient. Easy for him to say. He gets paid regardless. Jaime tries to comfort Banshee Barb by embracing her and she shies away like a skittish horse.

Delfina de la Cueva from Achichipico arrives in Jacqui’s apartment. Whoops, it’s Jacqui’s mother. Mami comes in and appreciates the apartment but scolds her for marrying a divorced guy and a laundry list of other things. Those divorced guys never get over their exes. (Trust me, mine did). We get a glimmer of why Jacqui is the way she is. And, to top it off, they both got into the Univision red hair dye together. They hug and giggle about the coming wedding, which will be divine.

Greta and Maru talk about Jaime. Does she like him? He’s MARRIED! Maru protests this line of thinking. Greta would go there if she were in Maruja’s place. (Clearly, Greta has not MET Jaime.)

Bettina is all hyper about her dance; but her shoes are no good for dancing—[they look like pumps for a Waikiki who** to me]. Paula tells her to get a grip, or they’ll never be able to get a taxi. Bettina puts on conveniently close-by Converse high tops with the lovely royal blue dress. A mother-daughter controversy ensues and Papi rings the bell. He’s come to get her-she’s so cute! Paula is Put Out. She and Dario fuss. He asks her to let him take Bettina because he won’t be seeing her while he’s on a honeymoon. Paula wants to know when’s that wedding? Tomorrow. Paula learns he’s got Bettina dress for the wedding and she’s not a happy camper.

Snorty and Jaime have gotten home and she’s got unfinished business with him as he sits in the dark. She fusses at him about the scandal and Vasco and pretty much every other single nanosecond of his life. Jaime is sorry. Snorty tries to get the last word in—fortunately she has plenty of friends in high places—but how’s he going to make up for what he did to Vasco? It was an ACCIDENT. This is the worst error of your life, Snorty accuses him. Jaime yells back. He feels bad enough already. He gives her his back and goes upstairs. Come back here, she yells, I’m not done with you! Snorty is left talking to herself and Vasco’s spirit, apparently—her beloved child.

Omar and Zulema are home after a long day waiting for news, discussing her working tomorrow after she finishes a phone call about work. They talk about what Vasco will need—medical stuff, etc. and she’ll need to work to pay those costs; but won’t his folks take him home, Omar wants to know? He should decide, Zulema declares. Will he be the same when he wakes up?

Diana talks to Vasco who is hooked up to bunches of beeping machines, willing him to live and wake up. Diana doesn’t like seeing him like this. She’s grateful to Bruno and Alonso (ironic, she says) for his life, though. Vasco keeps breathing into the oxygen mask.

Julián wants to talk to Alonso about Lorena. Nope! Not interested, she told me bunches of lies, so excuse me! Julián can’t believe that Alonso is buying that line of bunk. Alonslow, blockhead that he is, has made his decision and doesn’t want his mind changed with facts. He kicks Julián out.

Rossy waits for Lorena. Got work? Nope, went to pray for Vasco. Rossy bad-mouths Zulema but Lorena still cares about her. The muchachas moan over Lorena’s work situation. Rossy mentions something about setting up a food business with her mother-in-law and Lorena gets an inspiration. She runs out and Rossy follows.

Chalo lights a candle for a romantic interlude. Sara arrives to his boudoir and he tells he’s got everything set to celebrate. She’s tense, she tells him. It’s not over till it’s over and they can’t try again because it will raise suspicions. He invites her dinner. It’s all laid out on the table, with fine china, the best flatware and elegant liqueur. Sara whines. Chalo says it’s chicken like they used to get at home. Chalo pours into the plastic cups and tells her he wants a piece of Julián. How come? For the blow he gave Chalo.

Diana is still with Vasco, caring for him and talking to him. Julián joins her. She and Julián tell Vasco goodbye although she doesn’t want to leave Vasco, and Bruno comes in to check on the comatose patient. He is startled to realize it’s her and tells her he has to check her cousin. Nope, not my cousin, my boyfriend. Your boyfriend? Yep, we’re getting married and he’s adopting my baby. Bruno commercial impactado.

Bruno fusses that he’s the baby’s father, no one else is, and Diana retorts. She points out that Bruno’s nowhere to be found and on the other hand, Vasco’s always there. They fuss. She tells Bruno that Vasco is going to get well and raise her child. Bruno storms out; she desperately tells Vasco they need him (her and the baby).

It’s morning in the D. F. and Dario’s/Jacqui’s wedding day. Jacqui and her Mami are already at the table eating breakfast when Dario breezes out and greets Delfina aka Jacqui’s Mami, who compliments Dario on the apartment, the good taste in decoration, etc. and the money it took to decorate (okay, I paraphrased this part). He gives Jacqui the credit. She has a suspicion he’s probably going to be her favorite son in law. She tells Jacqui how lucky she is and Dario denies it—he’s the fortunate one, until death do them part. Dario excuses himself to Jacqui and the Sra. but she informs him she’s Irlanda to him. He leaves and Irlanda tells Jacqui until death do them part or the money ends. Jacqui doesn’t want to hear this trash on her wedding day.

Paula arrives home. She thinks something’s up with Bettina—she knows her daughter so well. They fuss about the wedding, and Paula rags about the dress for the wedding, and about the wedding to Bettina, who was actually cheerful for at least a little while in the beginning. Paula finds the flyer about the bar, and wonders qué the heck. Bettina tries to coax her to go live it up a little. Apparently, Bettina is better than we thought; Paula’s going to think on it.

Jaime wakes up and takes some meds. Barb comes in. Is she going to the clinic? Where else? He’ll clean up and go with her. She fusses at him, hablablablabla. Is she ever going to forgive him? No. This is really all his fault, after all. He should be in that clinic in place of her son!

Paula tearily talks to Maru—she doesn’t want to be alone while Dario gets married.

Omar and Zulema talk about Vasco—whatever he needs, Omar wants Zulema to call. They talk about Lorena a little more. Omar makes a case for her -- Zulema’s sad but firm on her position. She tells him goodbye and won’t discuss it more. But, she looks sad and lost after he is gone.

Maru, Lore and Rossy have whipped up a batch of some goodies to sell. They chitchat about the delicacies and selling them.

Diana comes up behind Sara in the mirror. What’s SHE looking at? Sara’s getting dressed to the nines for work; Diana wants the truth and asks if Sara’s got something going with Bruno. Sara snaps at Diana. No! Bruno’s not my type [I hate it when she tells the truth. Makes it hard to tell when she’s lying]. Sara thought Bruno didn’t matter to Diana anyway, right? Sara hurls a couple of insults and storms out leaving Diana frustrated. Diana hits the dresser; how come she can’t wash that man right out of her hair? Zulema comes in –what happened with Sara? I asked her a question. It was nothing but it p’d her off. Zulema tries to comfort her daughter. It’s because they’re all worried for Vasco. Diana retorts that it’s darned uncomfortable living this way. She implies that Sara’s the problem. You reckon, Diana? Zulema tells her no bad blood here, it’s Vasco who is important.

Lorena tries to sell the goodies to a restaurant but no luck. The whole world’s on a diet. She assures him they’ll sell. He’s not buying. But he pays her for one. She smiles tightly, thanks him and packs up the rest to go on.

Walking along and minding his own business, Julián gets hit by an idiot on a motorcycle. They exchange insults—the guy gives him A Warning. Is the motorcycle jerk Chalo? Could be. He only has one shirt and this guy is wearing it. Plus, the warning was about Lorena. Julián looks at his injured elbow and sputters.

Lorena is still frustrated trying to sell her goodies to an apologetic old lady behind a set of bars. She thanks the lady and goes on.

Zulema fixes up Julián’s elbow. He’s going to look for the wretch who hit him. Zulema yells at him that he’s not going after anyone. They fuss about Lorena, since Julián knows it was Lorena’s “novio,” Chalo. Julián can’t believe his Mami believes this lie; Lorena has nothing to do with that imbecile. Zulema tells Julián not to raise his voice to her. They just keep on fussing and he tells her he’s not ten any more, but she reminds him she’s his Mami. She tries to make him promise he won’t go after Chalo. Julián fumes but doesn’t commit.

Bruno grabs Sara as she comes into the clinic; he asks about Diana and Vasco. Sara seizes the moment and yells at him because it suits her. Her poor sister, he’s abused her beloved sister, and don’t try to say she’s important to you or anything, etc. He tries to tell her it’s his child who is important. She notes Alonso behind Bruno and goes for points by yelling louder, so Bruno tells her to lower her voice, which of course is absurd when it suits Sara to make sure everyone knows that he’s every kind of a villain.

Lorena has resorted to ringing bells of houses. They’re too high-priced. No one is buying.

Sara is having a ball chewing Bruno out . She’s not going to let him insult HER sister. He’s not qualified to judge her! Sara gasps and tears up pitifully, so she can get comfort from Alonso who comes right to her rescue. Plus, she can look like quite the saint. It’s a double whammy, folks. She can’t stand any more! She doesn’t have anyone to talk to! OF COURSE she can talk to Alonso. He thought Bruno was his friend but now he sees Bruno’s true colors. Sara throws in a couple of reminders about Lorena’s betrayal for good measure. If she wants, they can get together tonight. Sara nods pitifully. That would certainly help.

Lorena has figured out she’ll need desperate measures—she’s selling them come what may. She tries calling out and walking in traffic to sell on the street –she narrowly misses getting creamed by a car. But she’s not daunted.

Paula has company to share her distress on Dario’s wedding day. The trio chats about the wedding and Bettina comes in to show off her precious new rose-colored dress for the wedding, which Greta and Maruja admire. No Converse high-tops, though.

Jacqui is distressed, too; her dress has ripped apart. What, is this the dress that Paula cut? I thought Jacqui already discovered that. Did Paula cut up a second one? Gee, I missed something important here. Anyway, Jacqui’s wedding goose is cooked. Her mother exhorts her to calls someone—she’s pretty useless for this sort of thing. Jacqui’s going to kill that old woman when she sees her (Paula). More important for the moment, her Mami tells her, is to find someone to help fix it. Jacqui goes for the phone.

Bettina twirls for Maru. The doorbell rings; Bettina asks Mami not to fight. Paula asks them to clear the room so she can answer. No scenes, she promises Bettina. She compliments how handsome he is and he wonders what’s up—he’s not buying it. Paula plays with his tie, “fixing” it. He’s her daughter’s father and she cares about him, she admits. She wishes him all the happiness in the world. They call Bettina and he tells her she’s as pretty as…..an angel. We know, though, he almost said as pretty as her Mami. Paula says goodbye, they exchange long looks, and she takes a deep breath. The girls come out and want to know what happened; she describes her change of strategies—found it on the internet. Maru wants to know when she’ll grow up. The girls comfort Paula while she cries.

Jacqui fusses about the dress—it clearly was Paula-- and Irlanda points out that her she took away a hubby so this is her divine punishment. Irlanda tells Jacqui she’s got it solved.

The girls drink and laugh and discuss Men. Paula is getting rather mellow, she’s even chuckling.

Irlanda staples the dress, no problem here. Apparently she’s not so useless. [I am reminded of my beloved Daddy, who during the last three years or so decided it was a waste of time and money to take new slacks to the tailor to hem them; better he should just staple them. So he did. He was an Original.] Irlanda and Jacqui talk about her wedding. She’s getting married, and that’s that.

The love fest goes on at Paula’s. They discuss strategies. Maru says something that makes Paula cry; she still loves him. He’s getting married today!

Lorena walks through traffic to sell her goodies. (Panqués). She offers them to a driver. Oops, it’s Ern. They exchange long, bemused looks.

Next time: Snortensia offers Bruno a post in a great hospital to marry Diana—and a huge check that takes his breath away. Jaime and Maru escalate and hyperventilate (respectively). Snortensia declares Lorena a loser, and this is how she ends up—trying to sell panqués to Snortensia in traffic. Ern and the daughter of the restaurant’s owner declare war. Alonso and Sara heat up. At least Sara does. Lorena abuses Alonso’s picture.

No vocabulary tonight, I’m on the road without my trusty dictionaries.

Guapos Thursday, August 07, 2008: The Castaways vs. the Castoffs

Damien is talking to Mono the protector in prison and is telling him that Macarena has changed, that it’s been years since Mono saw her. Mono reminds him that she has all the money he stole. Damien says it’s not her appearance, it’s that she leads a double life, hot mama by night, nun by day. Mono is impactado.

Mili and Alex are sitting on the island beach in the morning. They are sad that they have to go back and wish they could stay forever. Mili says it’s been the happiest time of her life. They kiss, then try to figure out what to say when they get back. Mili figures nobody will believe anything they make up, so they might as well tell the truth. Alex says let’s wait until we get back and take it from there. More smoochies.

In the hotel, Hugo is talking to Damien on the phone. Hugo says things are going badly and he expects they will be home as soon as possible. Flor walks up and asks if he’s heard about Mili and Alex yet. Hugo says it’s something else – Connie has been thrown in jail. Flor wants to know why and when Hugo doesn’t respond with anything definite, she pops off that she’s been up all night worrying and nothing he could say would be any worse. She whips out her cell and says she’s calling the DF to find out for herself. Hugo tells her to sit down and he tells her that Connie is being held for the murder of her father. Flor is impactada and the camera closes in on her rubbing her baby belly. Maybe she will miscarry?

Damien is visiting Connie in prison. He remarks that Connie looks better in prison garb than he does. Connie curses him and Damien says aw, he’s missed him at home. Connie growls just you wait until I get out. Damien says why so aggressive? You left me stuck here for three years! I’m here to see what I can do for you. Connie grabs him by the lapels and hangs on tight, demanding why Damien set him up. Rolling his eyes to indicate the guard, Damien tells him to let go or he’ll be in deeper trouble than he already is. Connie tells him to get out. Damien says okay, but you’re going to need some money in here, you know.

Damien mentions protection and Connie says Mono is a good guy. Damien says yeah but for how long if you don’t pay him? Connie is stuck and says give me some money and get out. Damien looks wounded and says you’ve hurt my feelings, you’ve been so aggressive with me. Connie demands money and Damien says the next time I visit, and he runs out.

Mili and Alex are lying in the sand, kissing sweetly and lovetalking. Mili remembers the first time she met him and we fade into the past. She is out on the street in her Carlitos outfit and Alex is taunting her and calling her a boy. She says she’s a woman and he grabs her and kisses her. She grabs him, acts like she’s going to kiss him back, but knees him.

Alex laughs and says he never thought he’d fall in love forever with Carlitos like he did. He wishes that he could pluck Hugo’s eyes out so that Hugo could never look at her with love like he (Al) is doing now. More sweet nothings and besitos.

In other sand, Morgan is buried up to his neck and Vale is laughing and romping around him. Hugo comes up and Vale says don’t be mad at Milagros, it’s all her (Vale’s) and Morgan’s fault. Hugo says never mind about that, Flor is packing and they’ve got to head back home. Vale says what will we tell Al and Mili when we see them? Hugo says you better pack too, your father is in prison.

In her hotel room, Flor is on the phone with Marisela and wants to know why Mari didn’t tell her anything. Mari says you told me you didn’t want to hear and I wanted you to enjoy your vacation. Flor has a meltdown and says I’m living in hell, Alex and Mili have been gone all night – together - and nobody knows where they are. Mari thinks Flor should just leave him, but Flor says she loves him. Mari says he’s a sorry excuse for a man, but what can you expect, raised by a drunk and a murderer?

Mari says Connie took our father’s life and now Alex is destroying yours. Flor says it’s all my fault papa got killed. I just had to marry Alex and our papa got mixed up with that family. Mari tells her to think of the baby and be calm and Flor says okay, and then, showing a glimmer of understanding that there are other people are on the planet and not just her, asks how Mari is doing.

Mari says she feels alone, and Mat seems to have disappeared into thin air.

Mat is sitting in a bar, looking a bit the worse for wear. Two suits walk up behind him and he recognizes their voices. He turns apprehensively and there is that Mafioso, Mari’s mama’s first husband whose name escapes me. The Mafioso is smiling. Mat tries to bolt, but the other suit grabs him. The Mafioso says you thought you could hide from me? Maybe they put a lojack on his motorcycle.

Mari answers her door and it’s Flor’s ex, Rigoberto! She gives him a cool reception. He asks to come in and says he saw in the papers about her papa, and he’s sorry. She says I doubt it. Rigoberto says we always got along, why the attitude? Mari says we got along until you betrayed my sister. How is Florencia? asks Rigo. And Mari says what’s it to you? Bobby comes up behind Rigo and says am I interrupting something?

Rigo wants to know if Bobby is a boyfriend, and she says no, just a friend. Bobby wants to know who the guy is, and Mari says Flor’s ex. The music says ta-DUM, but we already knew who he was.

Rigo says where is Flor, he has to talk to her. And sure enough, we see Flor. She is in the hotel lobby with Hugo, checking out. Vale and Morgan are there too. Morgan says maybe he should stay and wait for the others, but Vale says she needs him by her side. Hugo says to the porter let’s go and they’re about to walk off when in walk Mili and Alex. Now, that deserves a ta-DUM!

Vale steps right up to the plate and says she and Morgan were responsible for everything. Flor is livid and tells her to shut up so that they can talk to Mili and Alex. Vale says she and Morgan will wait outside and they scamper off.

Wow – Hugo has started blubbering. Flor is more proactive and she slaps Alex and tries to slap Mili who deflects her. Flor says you messed in with my husband and Mili says no, you messed in with the man I love. Yowza! Words fly. Hugo says Mili please come with me so we can talk. Flor says she’s not going anywhere until I’ve finished. Mili says you knew we weren’t brother and sister and you didn’t say anything. Alex is surprised and Mili says oh, yes, she knew that before she married you.

Back at Mari’s apartment, Mari is telling Rigo if he wants to see Flor, he can look at his wedding photos, she’s right there, before he betrayed her. Rigo says that’s why I need to talk to her, to clear something up. Mari says forget it, she’s married and expecting a baby, so leave her alone. Rigo tries to insist then says he’ll go (probably to Goggle her) but he wants to know if she’s happy. Both Mari and Bobby hesitate and finally Bobby says no she’s not. Looks like we have a replacement guy for Flor!

And we see the unhappy Flor – she’s on a lobby couch with Alex, telling him off. Don’t even start says Alex. You withheld information that was pivotal in my life, in my happiness. You knew when I married you that I didn’t love you, that I was trying to forget her. Flor says what do you expect? I’m not stupid. I love you, I wanted to marry you, have your children. Alex says you’re sick. That’s not love.

Flor says I thought you would forget her. I’m a grown woman, not a child like her. I wasn’t put on this planet to lose. Alex says you just now lost me. Flor says I’m going to take off with the child and you will never see us again. She leaves.

Things are going much differently with Mili and Hugo. She tearfully tells him he’s been an angel in her life and that he didn’t deserve this. She begs his forgiveness. She is sobbing so hard, she can barely get her words out. She tells Hugo that they were stuck on an island, no way to get home. All night? asks Hugo? Yes, says Mili. Now Hugo is having trouble ‘cause he’s crying too. He asks her to please tell if something happened between Alex and her.

Mili says she doesn’t want to lie to him. She says it was like the world stopped and she couldn’t think. Hugo is taking every word like a body blow. He asks her to stop. He runs off, Mili in pursuit.

Out by the pool, Vale and Morgan are asking Alex to forgive them. For what? says Alex, grinning. For the best night of my life? Into the scene barrels Hugo, yelling that he will kill him, and bowls him into the pool. Both are in the pool, struggling mightily and Morgan jumps in to try to separate them. Vale and Mili scream. We find out that Morgan can swim just fine without water wings.

Rigo is still leaving. He gives Mari his card to give to Flor, but Mari rips it up. Rigo leaves and Mari tells Bobby she won’t tell Flor as Flor has too much happening right now. Bobby holds the two parts of Rigo’s business card together and reads it – maybe this will be significant later? Mari leans against Bobby a little, but he pats her says he just stopped by to check in and he’s off now. Mari says Lina is lucky and Bobby says I’m the lucky one.

Mari wants to know… if Lina is pregnant, was Bobby with her when he and she were still together? Bobby says he’s not going to answer that. Mari tries to suggest he was cheating too but he says he got interested in Lina after he caught her with Mat. So now, says Bobby, you have your super boyfriend and I have my super girlfriend. Mari says she hasn’t heard from Mat. Bobby says don’t worry, bad news travels fast so he must be okay. He’s Super Mateo after all.

Speak of the devil! The thugs have Mat in a warehouse and he’s crying and saying he’s sorry. The Mafioso guy says I’m going to make it so you don’t escape again. Two sartorially correct thugs beat him up for a while until the Mafioso calls them off. He tells Mat that from now on he’s to do as he’s told and to quit thinking and keep his mouth shut. Mat grovels and swears he will. The Mafioso says Mat will marry Marisela and together he and Mat will manage her father’s company, and he is to represent Constancio Belmonte. I will, I will! swears Mat. The Mafioso squeezes his cheeks and reminds him of the fate of his little friend, then wipes Mat’s blood off his hand first on Mat’s sweater, then on a thug’s suit. He walks off and the thugs beat Mat up a little more.

Damien has appeared at the convent and asks the padre if he can get Sor Cachete. The padre is skeptical and says she doesn’t know much about gambling. Damien says not that – he learned a lot from her when he was there and he’d like to say hi. The padre says she’s taking clothes to the poor kids. Damien mumbles that it’s a pretext. The padre says what pretext?

Morgan and Vale are by Alex’s car out front of the hotel. She wonders if his nose is all right, and he says it’s okay, he’s used to his new family. Vale comments that it’s weird how here they are fighting like dogs and cats and meantime her father is in prison. She wonders if he regrets anything, and he says of course not. He comments that with her father in jail, maybe he’s safe for a while and she ruefully agrees that that’s true.

Mili walks up and sees that Flor is in the van waiting. She stands there looking grim, and Hugo walks by without talking to her. Alex walks up. Everyone is very unhappy and uncomfortable and Morgan makes a weak stab at a joke. Mili says to Hugo you and I should ride separately. He sarcastically asks if she’s talking to Alex. She says they need to talk, but Hugo says you’ll be talking alone because I don’t want to listen.

He announces that Constancio is in jail for murdering Domingo. Alex and Mili are shocked. Hugo very roughly shoves Vale and Morgan out of the way and gets in the van. Vale takes Alex’s hand and says we’re with you. Hugo orders Mili into the van. Everyone gets in and you could cut the frosty atmosphere with a knife. On the road, Morgan tries to lift the mood by babbling on, but they all tell him to stop.

Flor has a spasm and grabs her stomach. Alex asks if she’s okay. She says what do you care? Poor kid is going to be born into this family – I wish I’d never met you. She rants on, ending up with calling Connie a murderer. Fun family road trip! She has another spasm.

In prison, Connie is telling Mono that he’ll have some money next week. Mono says look, I like you, but no money, no protection. Connie says you know you can trust me – when I get out I’ll make it right. Mono says we’re not in your office and I’m not one of your underlings you order around, so don’t raise your voice to me. Here you are nothing. Connie backs off and tries to make light of what he said. Mono says if he doesn’t get money by tonight, Connie’s going to have to learn a lesson. He gives Connie a little shove for emphasis.

In the car, Flor seems to be having spasms and when Vale asks if she’s okay, she tells her to shut up. Oops – something’s wrong with the car, maybe a flat. Alex pulls over.

Andrea is visiting Connie in prison. He tells her to stop rattling on about the household gossip and give him the money he asked for. She hands him an envelope and he says where’s the rest? She says she stopped by a shoe store on the way. She says she will bring his checkbook tomorrow, but he says he’s not out in the world, is she nuts? She says well never mind, and don’t yell. He remembers a signed check he left in his desk and tells her to cash it and bring him the money without stopping by the shops on the way. She doesn’t look enthusiastic and he orders her to do it.

Alex is changing the tire and everyone is out of the car except Flor. Hugo and Mili are standing in front of the car, not a good spot as Hugo has tears running down his face. He tells Mili that he will pretend nothing happened with Alex, but she cannot expect that he will continue to be the white dove in her life. He says I gave you every opportunity to go to Alex before we married – I begged you to go to him, and what did you say? You said you wanted to be my wife. Mili remembers she also said “don’t ever let me leave.” You betrayed me, I want to hate you, but I can’t. He is bawling and so is Mili.

Mili begs forgiveness and says she never wanted to hurt him, but she begs understanding too. She says her love for Alex is so huge she can’t control it. She says please let’s get divorced. Hugo says that’s never going to happen. He sees Alex is looking.

Tire changing hijinks with Morgan and Vale to let a little novela time pass.

Flor says to Hugo I saw you two arguing. Did you tell her you slept with someone else? Hugo throws his hands up. Flor says all you men are pigs. Spasm!

Damien has four hot babes lined up in the office foyer and is telling them the requirements for the position of his secretary. They seem to understand the requirements very well, as they have on short skirts and low-cut tops and are vamping for him. Luci (without makeup) comes in and calls him a thief and demands her money. She tells the applicants that he’s a scoundrel. Damien hauls her into Connie’s office.

Back at the road trip, everyone is very cranky. The tire, which rolled away during the hijinks, has been recovered, Hugo gripes, and is reminded that he hasn’t helped. Mili is looking at Flor and says even though you’re insulting me, I can tell you look like you don’t feel well. Flor says she needs to get out and walk a bit. She gets out and grabs her belly. Her water has broken!

Avances: beat-up Mateo is telling his grandfather about what the Mafioso wants him to do, and that the Mafioso was behind the death of Mari’s dad. Flor is giving birth in the back of the car, with Alex and Mili as labor coaches.

Querida Enemiga Thurs 8/7 - To beguile many, and be beguil’d by one.*

First of all, a huge thanks to JudyB for filling in for me while I was out of town. Thanks Judy, you're numero uno!!

From last night: Sara calls Chalo and tells him to go forth with the mission to eradicate Jaime. Barbara calls Vasco and asks (tells) him to come and get drunk daddy. Jaime guzzles champagne while Ickturo, Valeria and Barbara watch. Snortencia blathers on about the poor orphans until Jaime explodes that she is a cynic and a hypocrite.

Tonight:
Snorty tells the crowd that Jaime drank too much and has problems. Ya think? He splutters that SHE is the one with problems because she is a bad, a very bad person!

Chalo lurks around the parking garage and tampers with Jaime's car. He's not obvious, not at all.

Over at the casino event from hell Barbara jumps in and announces Jaime's on meds and is intoxicated. She's such a helpful wife. Ickturo and Dario drag Jaime away but he manages to yell that God won't forgive Snorty and he wants them all to "find out".

Snorty pulls herself together and, with Sara by her side, announces to the room that her family is fighting for her son and she hopes his outburst doesn't get in the way of their evening (and wallets), oh, and thank you very much for your generosity. Applause and nods of approval all around.

A smarmy paparazzo takes some shots of Jaime self-destructing and smirks to himself as Babs yells at him but neglects to grab his camera, whack him with it, and rip the film out of it.

Maruja is home trying to comfort sad Lorena. She tried to get info from Zully but Zully wouldn't talk. Lorena sadly observes that you can't force someone to love you.

Meanwhile Alonslow is home stewing in self-pity and trying to ignore Toribio. The doorbell rings and Betina bounces in. She asks her tio why he and Lorena broke up, they seemed so happy!

Back at the Maldito Evento Snorty and Sara analyze their damage control. Jaqui skitters up to tell them that Dario will drive Jaime home. Sara thought bubbles "Uh oh, I wanted to eliminate Jaime only. Oh well, one or two, no matter, and it will help take Jaqueline down." Our Sara is always one to look on the positive side.

Jaime blubbers that his mommy doesn't love him. Meanwhile Ickturo winks at Babs. Dumb Dario and drunk Jaime don't notice of course.

Alonslow tells Betina that love is a sickness that cannot be cured. I swear this poor kid is doomed. Al mutters on...one day you're ready to give your life for a person and the next you don't even know who they are, boo hoo. Betina is all "whatever, I'll never fall in love because it sucks". Grandpa tells her just because your ma and tio are losers doesn't mean you will be too; he loved her granny until the day she died. So there.

Maruja tries to cheer Lorena up by predicting that one day Alonslow will realize "they" have lied and he will pay with tears of blood. Awesome visual, thanks Maruja.

Vasco shows up as Icky and Dario cram Jaime into his car. "Oh Vasco, thank goodness you're here to help my beloved husband!" Oh wait, that's not right. "Oh Vasco, if you had showed up a half hour earlier LIKE I ORDERED you would have saved us from the worst shame of our lives!" shrieks Babs. Vasco ignores mean mommy and lovingly greets Jaime. After Vasco and Jaime drive off Chalo, still stupidly lurking, smugly smirks to himself. Goody goody, Sara will boink him for sure now!

Jaime continues to blather about his mother's mask falling. Vasco tries to get dad to put on his seat belt but dad is a belligerent drunk. Doesn't look like Vasco has his belt on either. Not good. When the car stops Jaime leaps out and runs away.

Vasco speeds after him down a dark street. Jaime almost gets hit by a car which screeches to a stop. Vasco hurtles toward the car. It looks like he will T-bone an innocent couple but he swerves at the last minute. A big crash and Vasco's head flops back from a smashed windshield. Two wide rivulets of blood stream down his face. A crowd gathers and they phone for help.

Betina and Paula are saying their goodbyes when Al gets the call. It's an emergency and there is no surgeon at the clinic. He must save the day!

Back at Snorty's Maldito Evento Sara runs into Valeria and thanks her for her help with Jaime. It's all mean Auntie Babs's fault that he drinks so much. Valeria asks Sara about Lorena, why has she hurt Alonslow so badly? Sara sucks up to Val big time and says Lorena had her fooled too. Valeria says Alonslow is the best and doesn't deserve the pain that Lorena has given. Sara plays super sweet and fools Valeria some more. Val's cogs and sprockets turn; is she thinking that Sara would be a good prospect for Alonslow? Absolutely perfect if you ask me.

Lorena looks at a picture of her and Alonslow and doesn't have the heart to tear it up. "I love you" she cries over it, then kisses it. Yuck. Dump the dud I say.

Snorty and Babs bicker about the family's reputation. If the pictures and story come out they are doomed. Sara announces she will handle it. She and Babs sneer at each other.

Poor dumb Jaime stumbles along the dark street recalling mommy's mean words, then Vasco's, then Omar's. Everyone is mad at him.

Sara negotiates with the paparazzo to pay him for his film. They are both scum and understand each other well.

"No puede ser!" Alonslow recognizes Vasco being carried into the emergency room.

Zulema gets the call that Vasco is in Clinic 23. She and Omar rush off and the camera pans to a shrine of the Virgin Mary. Uh oh, time to call in the big guns.

Back at el Maldito Evento Jaqui loses while Dario goes broke. Snorty gets a call and drops her phone. "Vasco!!" She, Babs and Sara head for the clinic.

Meanwhile, Jaime continues to stumble about and feel sorry for himself. I know it's supposed to be sad but I think he's kind of funny. Am I a bad person?

Over at the clinic Zully and Omar show up. Afterward Babs rushes in and asks what is her son doing in this low-life clinic? Val and Icky try to reassure her, Val works there and the doctors are good. Val goes to check on Vasco while Icky tries to cop a feel on Babs. She pushes him away, not now dumbass! Snorty and Sara show up and wonder where Jaime is.

The social classes converge in the waiting room. Valeria announces that Vasco has suffered multiple injuries (politraumatismo) and his life is in danger. Babs ugly-cries while Snorty does the frozen face and Sara looks thoughtful. This might work out better than she'd hoped.

Val tries to reassure ugly crier Barbara that Vasco has youth on his side and he is in good hands. I think doctors say that sort of thing when there is no hope, right? Meanwhile Sara is thought bubbling, where the devil is Jaime?

Passed out on a park bench would be the answer to her question.

Snorty orders Babs to shut up, crying doesn't help. Omar tries to comfort Babs but she insults Zulema. Snorty comments that if Vasco dies she doesn't know what she'll do to Jaime. What a nice family.

Lorena weeps to Rossy about Alonslow but I fast-forwarded through this scene because I just couldn't take the waterworks.

Alonslow tells Val and Icky that Vasco's operation went well but...he has a cerebral edema!

Sara slips away to call Chalo. She thought they had killed two birds with one stone and hopefully Vasco is gone for good, but there is no sign of Jaime. Obviously he escaped from the car. She tells Chalo they can't do anything right now but he should be prepared for anything.

Betina and her pal plan phase two of Operation Parent Trap. They are going to try to win tickets to the grand opening of some new bar.

Alonslow tells Vasco's loving family that Vasco is on a respirator, has a broken arm, needs another operation in the morning, and has a cerebral edema. He is in a coma and might have permanent brain damage. Barbara wails and Sara tries to look sad.

Chef Hunky gives his housemaid a shopping list and tells her not to screw up the ingredients. Then he scolds her for cleaning one of his beloved statuettes incorrectly. I was confused by this random scene. Is it to show what a persnickety jerk our Chef Hunky is?

Next morning Rossy gets a call from Julian and breaks the bad news about Vasco to Lorena and Maruja. Double impactadas.

Surprise! Chef Hunky's sis, niece and nephew arrive fresh from Miami! He makes them take their shoes off and then he rearranges them so they are in a neat row. (The shoes, not the kids.) He allows nephew to use his laptop as long as he doesn't mess anything up. Cute little niece hauls a plate of stickiness from the kitchen and to Chef's horror drops a sticky something on the carpet then carries another to Chef trailing a long tail of goo behind her. OK so for sure he is the Felix Unger of this show and they are hitting us over the head with it. His sis is slightly amused by his neat fanaticism. We are now set up for Lorena to come in and rock his world.

Zully and Julian break the news about Vasco to Diana. Diana promptly faints. When Diana wakes up she goes ballistic. She wants to be with her Vasco!

Sara is woken by a phone call from Snorty. Still no sign of Jaime and they need to go to the clinic. To herself, Sara cusses and fusses that she hopes Jaime is dead. It's the first thing in the morning and Sara's hair is perfectly coiffed. Weird.

At Evil Acres Snorty and Babs bicker about stupid stuff. Jaime strolls through the door looking like a homeless guy. Snorty slaps him and tells him it's all his fault! Babs fills in the blanks, Vasco had an accident.

Another random scene. This time Betina begs Paula to go to a party and stay out late. They compromise, no boozing or floozing and Betina has to be home by 12:30, not a minute past. These two finally seem to be getting along. Maybe this scene is about phase 2 of the parent trap. That would make sense.

Lorena bravely decides to go to the clinic with Maruja and Rossy at her side. She sees Valeria and asks about Vasco. Val answers but rudely snubs Lorena. We all know Valeria is no judge of character.

Snorty and Babs bicker about trying to move Vasco to a better clinic.

Maruja runs into Jaime in the hallway. She tries to comfort him but he says he committed an injstice so grave that now he's paying for it with his son's life. Que? She tells him that's crazy talk.

The bitch duo of Snorty and Babs try to strong arm the staff into providing an update on Vasco's condition. "Go to the waiting room" is the only answer they get.

Meanwhile Rossy tries to pump Omar for info on why Zully rejected Lorena. Unfortunately Omar has no idea.

Over at the office Jaqui gives Ickturo an invitation to her wedding. He stares at and literally drools over her breasts. She knows it because when she leaves her bubble butt energetically hits the four points of the compass at least twice.

Julian, Zulema, Diana and Sara arrive at the hospital. Babs and Snorty snark that Diana is an opportunist (arribista) just like her mom. Sara makes a point of reminding Diana that this is where Bruno works. Eye rolling from Diana and smirking from Sara.

Sara joins Lorena in the cafeteria and Lorena tells her she met with a cool reception; Omar was very dry to her. Sara "sweetly" thanks Lorena for coming but says it would be better if she left. Sara thought bubbles mean things as Lorena leaves.

As Lorena rushes out the clinic doors she runs into Alonslow and drops her purse. He doesn't see her because, as usual, he was vacantly looking elsewhere. He absently picks up her purse and when their eyes meet she looks slightly hopeful. Alonslow looks confused or pissed off, and his cheeks puff out like a chipmunk's.

Tomorrow: Oh dear, never mind, we'll find out soon enough.

*Othello of course.
