Refugio Para el Amor #46-47 Wed 6/27/12 Rosa Gets a Truth Bomb and Rod Gets Lucky (3 Times)
It's a three-peat for me, and for Rod and Luci tonight. Arranged by characters and location, with fewer details than my usual long-winded style. Enjoy!
The Old
When we last left our hero and heroine, they were heating up
an entire river with their kisses and caresses. But, we’ll come back to them
later…
Rosa Has a Heart? Who
Knew?!
-Estella reveals to Rosa that Luci left Het Het after her
father died, to help her mama and younger brother financially, and to get away
from some man who was bothering her. Estella doesn’t know Luci’s dad’s name,
but she knows her mother in Paz Flores, and Luci’s full name is Luciana JACINTO
FLORES. This news is like a bomb going off in Rosa’s demented brain. She
collapses against a bureau, knocking over her headache pills and her cup of tea,
and collapses to the floor.
-At the hospital, Rosa gets way more love and concern than
she deserves. Pato, in particular, is affected by her illness. He has Mati put
Rosa’s hand in his, and he begs her to be strong while fighting back tears. Max
and Hannah speak to the doctor who tells them Rosa’s blood pressure dropped a
lot, and they are bringing in a cardiologist because they think she may have a
heart issue. (I’d say!)
-Gala and Julie want the Torreslandas to get Rod back to
D.F. right away, to be with his mama of course. Max doesn’t seem to see the
urgency, and Hannah also tells Rod not to rush when she speaks to him on the
phone later. He’s concerned about his mother, but he and Luci already planned on coming back to
D.F. the next day.
-Rosa gives Mati the stink eye in the hospital and tells her
she will talk to her tomorrow. She now knows Mati hid Luci’s true identity from
her.
Rod and Luci’s Awesome
Adventures in Baby Making
-When we come back to our couple, they are laying side by
side on the bank of the river, looking wet and disheveled, but still dressed
except for Rod’s shirt and Luci’s belt. But Luci is looking awfully guilty and
saying they shouldn’t have done it, and Rod is looking really happy and is very
proud that now Luci is not only his wife, but also his woman (mujer). We know
what *that* means, but your recapper is scratching her head and wondering if it
was immaculate consummation and how Rod managed it with his wet chinos still
on. Luci is also embarrassed that someone might have seen them. Rod can’t stop
grinning long enough to be concerned about it. He carves a heart with their
initials into a nearby tree to memorialize the place where they consummated
their love for the first time. They then head back to the hotel to shower and
change out of their wet, dirty clothes.
-Rod and Luci continue their evening strolling through the
town, eating ice cream, and kissing. Rod tells Luci they are returning to D.F.
the next day so that they can get begin planning the Church wedding right away.
She is sad that their wonderful trip will end so soon. He promises to take her
traveling around the world and to make love to her in each place they visit.
-In their separate hotel rooms, Luci and Rod are dealing
with various degrees of guilt. Luci’s is more directly tied to her religious
beliefs. She speaks to La Virgen and agonizes because she wanted her and God’s
blessing of their marriage before she and Rod did the deed. She flashes back to
the encounter on the riverbank and we see her and Rod passionately kissing, and
then him beginning to take off her clothes. Her guilty feelings interrupt these
lusty thoughts, so we don’t see any more, but now we can safely assume it
wasn’t immaculate consummation and that clothing was actually removed.
-Rod feels guilt about breaking his promise to Paz, but he
can’t stop grinning long enough to really feel *that* bad about it. Hannah
calls and gives Rod the news about Rosa, but she’s more excited to hear about
him and Luci. She wants to speak to Luci and is shocked to find out they are in
separate rooms and keeping things PG until the Church wedding. Hannah tells him
to skip the PG and go straight for the R rating. She wants them to get busy
making a little Rod or a little Luci, right now.
-After another romantic dinner, Rod and Luci return to the hotel
that evening and do their usual dance outside of Luci’s room as Rod opens her
door. Will they, or won’t they? Luci
says good night. “Hasta mañana.” Rod asks if she’s sure about the until tomorrow
part. The look in her eyes says she’s not. He then sweeps her up into his arms,
takes her into her room, and puts her down gently beside the bed. Rod then asks, “Do you want me to go? Just ask
me to.” Her response: “Stay.” (Quedate) Woohoo!!! We actually see some of the
clothes come off this time.
Patote and Marianita
-Pato and Marianita chat and bond during her various periods
of exile onto the lawn. She calls him Patote. He tells her he fell and that’s
how he ended up in the chair. She tells him about a time she disobeyed her mama
and fell, and shows him her scar. A very cute scene.
-Then they touch on even more painful subjects- her missing
her mom who has gone away to find work; and whether or not he’ll walk again. She
considers Ariche and Pato to be her friends.
-Estella interrupts this cute bonding to tell Pato about his
sick mama.
-Later that night, Pato asks Mati more about the situation
with Estella, her daughter Ofelia, and Marianita. He’s concerned about
Marianita. Mati says they can only hope for a happy ending for Ofelia. Pato
says they all wish for happy endings. He wonders if Luci will be happy ever
after with Rod. He dreams of Luci kissing and smiling happily with Rod.
Aldo-Vicky-Max—An
Incestuous Love Triangle
-Max gives Aldo a new assignment. When Genaro, the driver,
is busy taking others around, namely Pato whom he wants to start coming to the
office, he wants Aldo to pick up and drop off Hannah. (I see more opportunities
for a Hannah/Lorenzo meet up.) They get the call about Rosa being sick and Max
rushes out. Aldo takes the opportunity to try to hack into Max’s computer. He
doesn’t have enough time and nearly gets caught red handed by Max who returns
for his cell phone. The hacking will have to wait for another day.
-Aldo takes advantage of Tio Max being at the hospital to
visit Vicky and get her to go out with him. She tries to beg off, but Aldo is
determined and comes to her door to ask Don Jero if he can take her out. After
a lecture about respecting her and bringing her home on time, Don Jero agrees.
Despite her protests, Vicky seems pleased about it. She asks Aldo what made
Rosa sick, and Aldo punks her by telling her Rosa found out she and Max are
lovers. Major cara impactada de Vicky. “Qué!”
-Aldo lets Vicky off the hook and tells her Rosa’s
hospitalization isn’t her fault, but says that Max’s relationship with a girl
who could be his daughter is disgusting. Vicky wants him to butt out of her
biz. He tells her to turn off her phone if her Osito calls and lie to him about
where she was; he then convinces her to go out with him that night, instead of
waiting around for her Osito.
-Outside of Inferno, Aldo hangs up Vicky’s phone on Osito
when he calls. Max is not a happy camper.
-When he drops her off at home, Vicky explains again to Aldo
that they can’t be novios because she is FAITHFUL to Max. Considering that his
uncle Max is being UN-faithful to his tia with Vicky, Aldo scoffs at that. He
wants Vicky to be happy. She wants to
know why he doesn’t go after all the other available girls out there. He shouts
to all the neighbors that he’s in love with her, so she’s forced to shut him up
by tackling him with kisses. They collapse to the ground in a fit of giggles.
What the Kids Are Up
To
-Boris tries to get Lula to agree to come to his b-day party
at the lake house. If she won’t go, Hannah won’t go. Lula refuses to go. Too
bad, so sad for you Boris.
Het Het Happenings
-Lic. Barrera and Magda are on a mission to get Paz’s
properties back. They meet with Luchita, La Gorda, and get her to confront Don
Aquiles about selling her property that wasn’t his. She paid him half the cost
of the house already. Aquiles at first denies that he intends to sell the
property. He just wants Luci to negotiate with him. But he eventually admits
the truth and agrees to give Luchita back her money.
-Barrera surprises me by turning down a big old bribe from
Aquiles. He’s there to get justice on behalf of his client Luciana Jacinto
Flores! They're going to take him to court for wrongful eviction and fraud.
-Don Aquiles can’t believe his Palomita has become so horrid
and done something like this to him. She’s changed. Now he vows to get revenge
on her. But he still can’t hate his Palomita who stabbed him in the back; he
loves her.
-Magda tells Paz to prepare herself, because now that he’s
lost control of her properties, Don Aquiles will surely come looking for
trouble.
-Fabian comes back to town. His journey to the States was
short lived because the coyote (people smuggler) dumped him and three other
folks who had paid him, in the middle of the sierra. Now all his savings are
gone. Don Serapio is just happy that he came back alive and in one piece.
Lorenzo calls to send the message about his promotion and convinces Fabian to
return to D.F. to find work.
Violeta’s Mystery Man
and El Inferno
-Vio and Marcial cuddle on her couch. He will accompany her
to el Inferno that evening, but then he’s leaving on his work trip. He seems a
little too interested in finding out that Lorenzo is now working in the casino,
and therefore had to leave for work earlier than Vio. He asks about the
demanding bosses. Vio is sure Lorenzo is clever enough to handle himself. He
then asks how much the casino makes on a good night. She teases that he wants
to open up his own club, like Aldo. He tries to play his questions off, but Vio
looks like she’s beginning to have her own questions.
-Violeta/Coral really needs a new song. I think the guys
there come to see her do her little shimmy instead of sing. Serena comes to El
Inferno wearing her nurse’s uniform. If Inferno were a
strip club, this could work. Ivan thinks her uniform is making the customers
nervous so he tells her to go home. She’ll start the next night.
-Ivan tells Vio that men don’t come to Inferno looking for
wives, so don’t count on anything serious from Marcial.
-Lorenzo is wearing a suit for his first night of work as a
host in the casino. He and Aldo chat and make plans for another hacking attempt
soon. Lastra watches from the security cameras and wonders what those two are
up to. The Silent Partner calls Lastra about business and then we see both he
and Max opening up the same balance sheet. If there was any doubt before, now
we know for sure the identity of the silent partner.
Gala and Julie
- Julie thinks it’s too much of a coincidence that Luci
knows Claudio Linares. She is sure that he and Luci made a plan to get Luci
into the Torreslanda house to get back at the family. It’s a plot! They can’t
wait to reveal to the family that they had a Linares plotter in their midst.
-Gala notes that Rosalena hates Luci so much, it seems like SHE’s
the one who got dumped at the altar. Gala offers to pay Lastra for the photos
with her own money, but Julie is determined to squeeze money out of Rosa. They
want to get the old guy in Het Het (Aquiles) to say he had something going with
Luci.
-Dammit, I thought Gala said she was done with the tears,
but there she is again, in her bathrobe in the middle of the night, bawling and
whining about Luci stealing Rod from her. “Luci doesn’t know the hell that
awaits her.” Yada, yada, yada.
Post Coital Blues and
Olympic Worthy Anvil Baiting
- Luci is wrapped in Rod’s arms and is worried thinking back
to Sabina’s warnings about all those tears she’ll shed. Rod baits some more
anvils and says that nothing and no one can succeed against true love. Luci
says she feels so much love for him, that it doesn’t even fit within her soul.
Don’t worry your pretty little head, says Rod. Nothing with separate us, ever.
-Luci leaves the bed to sit on the shag rug in front of the
fireplace, and has a little silent time with God and the Virgen. Rod wakes and
comes to her. He knows she feels guilty about not waiting, but he knows God is
with them and they have his blessing. Rod will love her his whole life. They
put the shag rug to good use.
-A few more anvil baiting phrases exchanged by our couple: Luci:
“If the world ended tomorrow, I would thank God for the time that I’ve spent
with you. I love you.” Rod: “This is nothing compared to the happiness that
awaits us.”
-Rod calls the big house as he and Luci drive back to D.F. He
speaks with Pato, then Luci gets on the phone with him. Luci has Pato close his
eyes and imagine her giving him a big hug. He images standing up from his
wheelchair and encircling her in an embrace and twirling her. (I bet Brandon
Peniche was happy to get to stand up for a few minutes to film that scene.)
-Rod tells Luci that they will stop in and see Padre Honesto
first thing when they get to the city. Time to arrange that Church wedding!
Rosa Loses Her Sh!t
-Rosa admits to Connie what she learned--that Luci is the
daughter of Claudio and Aurora!
-Rosa then backtracks and tries to convince herself that
there is a snowball’s chance in hell that Luci is Aurora’s child, since she
still doesn’t know her father’s name. Connie tells her to stop trying to fool
herself. “Now is the time; you have no other choice. It’s your obligation to
tell the truth. Luci is not alone. She has Paz who will defend her when she
finds out everything.” Basically, the jig
is up Rosa.
-Rosa begs Connie to help her. (She’s not speaking about
mental help, but she should be.) She pulls the sister card—it’s Connie’s
obligation as her sister to help her keep Luci and Rod apart. Connie says she
helped her enough by keeping this secret all these years. She’s had enough of
that. “Luciana is the woman your son loves.” Claudio calls Connie and Rosa
looks like she’s going to have a heart attack for realz.
-Rosa freaks out that Claudio already knows. She loses her
sh!t and jumps from the bed screaming that Rod and Luci being together is a
SIN! Luciana is the daughter of Aurora and Maximino! Connie can’t believe that’s
true, but Rosa swears Max and Aurora deceived her right under her nose. That’s
why she gave that baby away. She begs Connie to get her out of the hospital. Luckily,
the nurse comes in and offers drugs to calm her down. Thank God they take
effect quickly. I think I need some of that after this scene.
-Rosa dreams of Aurora and wakes in a panic. Connie suggests
a paternity test for Luci, since they can do that these days. Rosa doesn’t want
the test since then the family would find out her secret. Connie tries to calm
her down. Poor Connie.
-Connie decides to postpone her return to her home, considering
that her sister is one screaming fit away from the nut house. Oscar is very
happy with this news.
-Mati comes to visit Rosa in the hospital the next day,
ready to face Rosa’s firing squad of questions and accusations. “Now you and I
are going to talk Matilde.” Uh oh.
Avances: Rosa screams at Mati that Luci and Rod are
half siblings, just as Max walks into her hospital room. Rosa attacks Max, while
accusing him of having an affair with Aurora.

Abismo de pasión #75 6/26/12: The Haunting of Horacio and a REALLY Stupid Plot Twist
Deep In The Mind of Horacio, Not Seen On Your TV Screen
True. There are many mysteries to be solved in La Ermita de Isabella, Merida, Yucatan. There are mysteries that I know about, and secrets that I do not know. But secrets accrete to me; it has always been like that. Many secrets predate my arrival in this ancient village, now an enclave inside the City of Merida. Yesterday, you may have noticed a list of secrets to be revealed in La Ermita, posted by Anon 207, a regular contributor to the Pasion thread. It was very thorough; Anon 207 is good at summarizing such things. For now, I am sick of my own secrets and it is starting to show in my health. I am excessively nervous, yes, nervous as a convent raised nun. I am more sensitive than you might think.
Is it true that my conversations with you are completely confidential? Yes? Well, I go on.
The problem is I have never been either bad enough or good enough to prosper in life, and those who tend to recognize such things can pick me out of a crowd at fifty paces. I am a weak man, but I have a capacity to recognize and appreciate pure good. This is what happened when I saw my Lolita. Ah, Lolita. The purest, most good, best woman in the world. I thought when I saw her in the market, right after I came to La Ermitat to make a clean start, “A woman like that could make a man change. She could make him walk the straight and narrow”. And then she smiled at me. I would carry her milk forever. Now we are to be engaged. She knows none of my secrets. It must stay that way
The secrets I have with her employer—and now mine—Carmina, are quite damaging. Carmina is a bad, bad woman, pure and simple. She has some hold over Gabino, once my childhood friend—now just another guy with whom I have done deeds best left unspoken. There are quite a few of those guys out there in the world.
But here in La Ermita, there is only Gabino. Carmina found out about the arson at Don Lucio’s shop. She knows about Gabinos’ involvement and mine and first she got us to hijack some mail truck and exchange one letter for another. I have no idea what THAT was all about. I do not like how she treat Lolita, but there is not much I can do about that now, and most recently she had me clean out some house in the village and dump its contents one town away. Perhaps there will be a way to deal with Carmina one day, but not now.
Today I was introduced to the town Priest and the Curandera when they came to bless the location of our new Butcher Shop. Don Lucio came to let us in. I was very uncomfortable with the whole thing, but I shook his and the priest’s hand. With my left hand. Why the left? I don’t know. It was the only hand available. When we went inside the whole place was extremely cold. This seems highly unlikely in Merida, because they have no refrigeration units there as yet, but I swear it was as cold as a walk-in freezer. Don Lucio became upset while we were there. I began to really twitch. You should have seen me then!
True, I twitch in the face even when I speak of the arson at Don Lucio’s shop. You are very observant. As I said I am very nervous these days. Am I anxious? Yes, I suppose, I could be called anxious. I do not sleep well. My new hobby takes up so much of my time, but it is cheap and allows me to save all of my money to open the carneceria at Don Lucio’s place.
When Lolita and I are married, we will make a go of, it, I tell you. My Dad did, for many years. Where was that? In a village, far away from here. In what part of the country? North. North of here. Yes, north of here and west. The name of the town? It doesn’t matter, does it? I have not been there in 20 years; I have nothing to do with it anymore. No, no, I have no living family. Ah, am I twitching again? My nerves, my nerves, my horrible nerves.
Shall I tell you of my hobby? Yes, it does occupy a fair amount of my mind. I have taken up…sewing. It is actually a very soothing occupation. Fabric and thread are cheap and I became interested in it right after, well, right after the incident at Don Lucio’s. You won’t credit it, but one day, this Abuela came to me in a dream and told me that I had to learn to sew! I sew by hand for right now, because Abuela Bee, I call her Abuela Bee, says it is best to start at the beginning. My hands are large and clumsy for such work but she insists that I persist. I must learn, she says. I owe it to her. I have begun to dream of clothes I can make for Lolita! Wonderful designs, for the lovely Delores. Did you know the library has many free books on sewing. I am amazed at how much there is to know. Abuela Bee says that I must apply myself. Yes, yes, I used to just see her in my dreams but now she come around all the time. She is very soothing. I am less nervous when she is around. Doctora, are there drugs I should be taking to calm my poor nerves?...Horacio looks a bit wildly around the psychiatrist’s office.
Meanwhile…
Alfonsisna’s Big Ol’ Gas Guzzling SUV, Speeding To Merida Airport
· In the car on the way to the Merida airport, Alfonsina Arango continues her blackmail of Florencia Landuchi.
· If Flo doesn’t have a kid called Arango, then Fina will call in Pappa Guido Landucci’s Great Big Loan. What a spider!
· It is clear that she knows that she might have to resort to nefarious means to get Flo inseminated with said grandchild because she orders her driver to take a detour by a fertility clinic on her way home to La Ermita. She is taking no chances with this one. I wonder if Alfonsina is going to get to look though a book to pick out the baby daddy. She is going to have to go a long way to find a baby daddy up to the caliber of her son. Handsome, bright, seems to have a heart, great bod—good luck with this one Alfie.
Tovar House
· Doctor Tovar is still in bed after being attacked last night by an all-too--cheerful Augusto Castanon.
· Let me see if I have got this straight. Augusto and Carmina host a dinner party, Begonia and Edmundo were the guests. Uninvited guest Alfonsina showed up and spilled the beans about Edmundo and Carmina’s short and unhappy affair to Augusto. Augusto invited Edmundo out to the Cantina for after dinner drinks and beats the living crap out of his dinner guest. Once again, I am not feeling kindly disposed toward ‘Gusto Catfood. I am not amused by the very good job that the Abismo make-up department is doing of replicating facial wounds on Doc Tovar’s broken face.
· Carmina comes over to the Tovar’s house and sweetly asks Begonia if she could have just a few words with Edmundo. Begonia says yes.
· Carmina goes to Edmundo’s room and start’s a huge fight…she thinks he has been blabbing her secrets everywhere.
· Enrique comes in to tell his Dad he just got fired from the procesadora. I guess that is good. He’ll have more time to impregnate Flo so she can claim to be pregnant by Dam-stupid-if-he-believes-it. Begonia knows that Alfonsina is behind this. No sh!# Sherlock! In fairness, I must say that Begonia looks lovely today. She is doing such a nice job at rehab; do we have to take her out at the knees with the Carmina is the lover thing? Gawd. I want to see this Bumble reformed and working on Team Elisa and Dam.
Elisa and Augusto Go For A Ride to Stef’s Old Lands
· Augusto makes Elisa a proposition she doesn’t refuse; will she leave La Ermiat forever with him and start over somewhere else? He wants to get his daughter back. Lolita is getting married and he wants to start over as a family without Carmina. Yes, Elisa will go. No she will not tell anybody. They will go after Delores’ wedding.
· Huh? They went round about Damian. She needs to tell him What did they finally come up with? Arghhh. Recapper scream of “No!” echoes all the way to D.F….
Procesadora
· Paolo starts stalking his brother at the procesadora with a smarmy, ” I need to talk to you, brother,” ploy. He lays it on thick with the old, “You are like a father to me routine. Guido to gullible and good looks to be buying it hook line a sinker. Somebody start a rescue Guido club. The man needs a lifeline and QUICK!
· Maru looks lovely in bright pink today.
Don Lucio and Blanca’s Former Dress Shop
· Horacio and Delores meet at Blanca and Lucio’s old dress shop for a blessing of the space. Horacio looks very anxious and is wringing his hands at the beginning of the scene. Don Lucio, there to open the former shop, is formally introduced to Horacio for the first time. Lucio reminds all that he met Horacio earlier when Horacio came to get his horse but that he is happy to meet Delores’s fiancée, who, of course, must be a good man. The scary woo-oooo mezzo-sopranos begin to sing above the action.
· Padre Lupe walks up to the shop front speaking absurdly of his delay by TRAFFIC. What? Lupe? I can see the church across the street? Lupe has the horse-bit hat twisted in one hand and a dashing medium-green business blessing stole over his shoulder. He is handsome as ever.
At the New Greenhouses
· Gael and Damian have a conversation about Damian quitting work a little early to go talk to Don ‘Gusto Catfood. Gael chides Damian for not working hard enough. These greenhouses are now his only Patrimony, blah, blah, blah. Mostly we look at the Zepeda and Tacher, shirtless, in jeans, in the sandy scrub, under the Yucatan sky. I’ll give them 25 minutes or so to stop that. Oh, dialogue? What dialogue? Ah, no meaningful dialogue, but they each picked up a large, burlap bag of something that was purporting to be habanero pepper starts and threw it over their shirtless bodies and walked away from the camera. This was not a bad scene.
At Don Lucio and Blanca’s Former Dress Shop
· Inside at the former Dress Shop, Padre Lupe makes his way around the premises with the tools of his trade, the censor, the holy water, prayers for peace and prosperity. Lucio is silent, hat in hand as Lupe finished his business. Horacio hangs his head in a way that could be taken as respectful or guilty. A tear fall down his cheek. Lolita holds tightly to Horacio’s arm.
· Just as Lupe is finishing up, in walks Doña Ramona, Curandera Extraordinaire. Lolita has not failed to hedge her bets but Padre Lupe is not upset. He has the utmost respect for Doña Ramona and her methods. Ramona waves a sheaf of no-doubt powerfully cleansing herbs about as she shoots a dark glance at Horacio.
· Horacio is acting very nervous indeed. He is holding his head in his hands and would probably rock if he were sitting in a chair. Ramona starts mumbling like the Delphic Oracle and pointing at Horacio. Ominous music plays as Ramona speaks of weird energy, hidden things, mysteries, and secrets. Lolita looks alarmed, as well she should.
Blue House of Shame
· Ingrid and Gabino discuss her worries about Kenia’s disappearance. Right now, Ingrid seems concerned that Kenia is making an odd move. But while Ingrid has no motherly instincts she has a nose for trouble. Kenia’s behavior may upset her plans.
Former Dress Shop, Now Newly Blessed Butcher Shop, Yuk
· Horacio and Lolita face off against an upset Ramona who is wailing about hidden secrets. Horacio leaves by himself.
Augusto Was Nice To Elisa For Five Minutes
· Gael rides up to Augusto who tells him, apropos of absolutely nothing,
· “Right now Gael, the most important thing for me is the happiness of Elisa.”
· Augusto goes over to visit Lucio. Augusto talks about wanting the happiness of Elisa more than anything. He also insists that Elisa is not his daughter, she is Rosendo’s. There are many things he does not know; but he knows this.
· Lucio asks why he is determined to leave the town with Elisa. Because it will keep him from having to kill Damian. Because nothing less than death will separate those two and they are both the children of Rosendo Arango.
· Wrong again, Catfood.
· Augusto is truly the FOOL in this deck of cards, poor bastard.
o A father when he thinks he isn’t.
o Not a father when he thinks he is.
o Not a cuckold when he thinks he is one.
o A cuckold when he thinks he is not.
o Othello to Desdemona.
o A proud idiot.
o The guy is a train wreck, violent, sentimental, mean and very destructive, but you gotta know that Carmina Bouvier has REALLY done him wrong with her lies about Estefania.
Casa Castañon
· Elisa is happy about the five minutes her dad was nice to her. She seems elated about the idea going away with her dad. As long as it is after Lolita’s wedding. WHAAT IS SHE THINKING??? She tells Lolita who is happy for her.
· But, the Tiny Brown Recluse Carmina is waiting and she breaks into their happy time with, “Elisa, your Father does not love you. It is not possible.”
· Elisa responds with, “Ay, Tia. Truly you will take any opportunity to ruin a happy moment. “
· Lolita tells Guppy Lips to scram (thanks Sara!) and hurries Elisa out of the kitchen. I think Carmina wants to drop the “You are sibs,” bomb on Elisa, herself, but she didn’t get a chance this time.
· Elisa is worried about how Damian’s conversation has gone with her Dad.
· Elisa and Lolita talk about her upcoming wedding.
· Master Bedroom
· Carmina and Augusto spat yet again.
· Carmina confesses her brief fling with Edmundo.
· Augusto says that nothing happened between that Kenia and himself, partly because of the respect he had for his marriage vows to Carmina and partly because of Estafania. I guess we are not discussing Paolo here.
At Casa Arango
· Paolo continues to manipulate his brother. He wants his job back at the procesa dora.
· A disgusted looking Flo returns home with a triumphant Alfonsina. Now it looks like no one is headed for D.F.
Town Center, La Ermita
· Paloma and Gael meet up outside the Doctor’s office.
· They talk about THE RELATIONSHIP. Whatever.
Tomorrow
· With a little luck we will find out why Elisa is so stoopid. I know, because she really IS Augusto's daughter. Why in the name of I.M. Pei would she commit to run away with her Dad? Color me confused.
· It sure looks like Lolita is getting married to Horacio. She looks like a lovely bride.

Refugio Para el Amor #44-45 Tue 6/26/12 Rod and Luci’s Awesome Adventures in Babysitting and Baby Birthing
In the middle of their nature walk by the river, Rod and
Luci start making out in earnest, even lying down in a clearing on the path. A
group of little kids passes by and starts taunting them. Luci is embarrassed. Rod
is amused and thinks Doña Paz sent the kids to stop any hanky panky.
Estella asks what Rosa’s questions are about. Rosa demands to
know why Estella recommended Luci for the job in the first place. The
interrogation is interrupted by a call, so we zoom back outside to the lawn,
where Marianita is excitedly telling Pato how cool his wheelchair is. Padre
Honesto arrives and Marianita introduces herself, then continues playing after
Mati brings her a drink. Padre is there to see if Rosa has calmed down since their
last conversation earlier that day. (Oh, Padre. You really do have a lot of
faith in your fellow man.) Pato hopes Padre can help calm her down.
Still on their nature walk, Rod and Luci think they hear the
sound of a child in distress. They go off trail to investigate. Near the riverbank,
they find a crying toddler, with no adult around. They carry the baby along the
riverbank in the direction he points.
Gala and Julie have called Rosa to update her on the Luci investigation.
Julie sends a reminder that they need cash to pay people off for info, but Rosa
cuts the call short to continue interrogating Estella. Estella says she recommended
Luci because she saw she is an honorable girl. “What happened? Did she steal
something?” At least Rosa is honest enough to say she didn’t, although she’s
acting like Luci stole Rod, like he was some possession. Frigida interrupts to
tell Rosa the Padre has arrived to see her.
Gala tells Julie that Rosa won’t believe the photos. She
might think they’re faked, like Rod will. Gala’s brain cells are starting to
work again. She says she suspects that Luci and Rod met before. There are too
many illogical coincidences. First the club, and then a few days later she’s
working in the house.
Melissa visits Claudio to discuss her thesis. She hasn’t
gotten much work done since she last saw him. Her aunt has had issues which have
distracted her and the whole family. Claudio understands, since Rosa is a great
woman who is always concerned about others. (Ha!) In fact, he wants to talk to
Rosa, and Melissa’s mom has given him her contact info. Melissa explains what
all the drama has been about. Luci left. Claudio knows this and says he sent
Barrera to help her family with the property issues. What he doesn’t know is
that Rod followed Luci and now they’re married. Claudio is super impactado.
Lorenzo comes home to Vio with the happy news that he’ll be
working in the casino. He’ll be able to earn so much more money by getting tips
(propinas). He plans on paying attention to see how gambling is done in the big
city. Vio tells him to not even think about gambling at El Inferno, anyway, it’s
prohibited for employees. Lorenzo says when he has an opportunity, he’s going
to play/gamble. He thought bubbles that he’ll also find a way to get even
(cobrar) with Lastra for what he did to his sister.
Padre asks Pato why Rod did things this way, instead of
being straight forward with his parents. Pato points out that when it comes to
Luci, there is no way of talking reasonably with his mother. Padre knows, very well. He asks why Rod went
looking for Luci. Pato informs him Rod went after her to marry her, and he did!
Nope, mom doesn’t know. (Rosa and Frigida are the only ones who don’t know yet.
LOL!) She knows Rod went to see Luci, but no one has told her about the
marriage. Rod wants to tell her personally. In the meantime, Rosa continues to
go more bonkers. Padre is sure Rosa’s maternal instinct (to love
unconditionally) will eventually kick in. (Yeah, right!)
Claudio is still in disbelief about the marriage. “Are you
sure they’re married?” Yep. Rod sent
messages. But Rosa doesn’t know yet. Claudio is upset Luci didn’t tell him.
(That *was* kind of thoughtless on her part.) So, now Luci is Mrs. Torreslanda.
Rosa puts her interrogation of Estella on hold again, so that
she can talk to the Padre. (Look lady, I don’t work for you and I have other
things to do with my time. And you can ask one of your servants for your damn
tea, because I DON’T WORK FOR YOU!) Estella doesn’t say this, of course. She
offers to tell Mati that the Ice Queen needs her tea, and goes to wait in some
servant appropriate place until she’s summoned again.
Luci and Rod follow the direction where the little boy
pointed and find a little house near the river. The door is open and inside
they find a woman in bed, delirious, heavily pregnant, and in the middle of labor pains.
They realize that both the mother and the little boy are burning up with fever.
Rod goes to get water and Luci busies herself in the kitchen and getting them medicine.
Estella reports to Mati that Rosa hasn’t really gotten the
interrogation started. Mati apologizes for getting Estella into this mess. It
is really her responsibility to tell Rosa about Luci, but Estella can’t lie to
Rosa either. Mati suggests that Estella leaves, and Mati will tell Rosa she had
an emergency and had to go.
Claudio frets about why Luci didn’t tell him she was getting
married. Could it be because she was marrying a Torreslanda and was afraid of
his reaction? Melissa tells him that Rod is very much in love with Luci, and
that’s why he dumped his novia. Claudio doesn’t think a real man dumps a woman
at the altar like that. He should have broken off with her before. Melissa
can’t argue with that.
Mati is barely holding it together as she brings Padre his
tea. She starts to cry and say it’s her fault. Padre says Rosa is starting to
infect Mati with her guilt complex. (Oh, please do not let that be contagious.)
Before Mati can spill the beans to Padre, Rosa arrives. Rosa whines about her
headache. Padre wants her to calm down, but she says she can’t. Padre tells her
to resign herself to the fact that Rod loves Luci. Rosa says she’s afraid.
Padre asks why the fear. She’s afraid of the past that will bring her family
disgrace. “Image if you found out that your mother just gave away a child.”
He’d prefer finding that out, over finding out his mother kept quiet about it
just to keep her social standing. She
really doesn’t want to find out how Max and Claudio would react. And her kids
think she’s a moral pillar.
Lorenzo is sad that he wasn’t able to be with Luci when she
got married. Vio says they’ll get to be with her for the Church wedding, which is the one that counts.
Lorenzo can just imagine how badly the Torreslandas will react to their family
and how they will treat them. He says he’ll sell his soul to the devil so that
he’ll be able to buy his mother a fancy dress so that she can attend the
wedding looking distinguished. Vio tries to talk sense into him. She tells him
about a street of shops where you can get beautiful wedding dresses and other
dresses for great prices. Marcial shows up and tells Vio he’s there to say
farewell because he’s going on another trip.
Luci has fed the little boy and given him medicine, and he seems to be doing a bit
better, but the mother has lost consciousness.
Rod turns the mother on her side. He knows some first aid tricks that
will help her and the labor along.
Claudio admits that Luci’s sudden secret marriage bugs him.
Primarily because there is a special bond between them. Melissa says Luci esteems him greatly and is
very grateful to him. Claudio says perhaps he’s just an old fogey. Melissa
disagrees. She can tell that he doesn’t like her cousin Rod for some reason. Claudio
thinks Rod might be like his papa Max. Melissa disagrees. Anyway, kids aren’t
at fault for their parents’ sins. Claudio says she’s totally right, but Rod
dumping Gala right in front of the judge doesn’t speak well of him. Melissa
explains that Rod did try to speak to Gala beforehand, many times, but she wouldn't listen. Claudio
tells her she has again taught him a lesson. He will respect Luci’s decisions.
Melisssa has inherited her mother’s intelligence, good sense, as well as being a good person
like her. Melissa is all smiles and blushes at the compliment. They get back to
work on her thesis.
Pato and Marianita talk about her new school. There are some
mean kids that she doesn’t like. Aldo returns home, and meets and scares
Marianita with his larger than life personality. He gets the news that Luci and
Rod are married. Aldo wants to throw a big party to celebrate. Pato dumps cold
water on that plan and tells him to pipe down. The Ice Queen doesn’t know yet.
Padre Honesto is trying to warm her to the idea before Rod springs the news on
her. Aldo thinks this is even more reason to party now, before the Rosa bomb
explodes and causes them all misery. Pato gives in. Aldo’s taking him out so
that they can celebrate and Pato can meet Lorenzo, who’s now part of the
family.
The sick mother has come around, and Luci and Rod are coaching
her through the labor while Luci tries to get a call out on the cell phone,
with no luck. They ask where her husband is, but he’s far away working. Rod
heads out to try to get a cell phone signal. Luci coaches the mother through
breathing.
Connie is getting a manicure from Vicky and asking her about
her sugar daddy. Vicky says she hasn’t seen him much lately because he has to
work. Connie wonders if he knows she’s been going out with Aldo. Vicky starts
getting nervous and lies that he knows she and Aldo are friends. “Does he know
you go to places like el Inferno?” Vicky says he doesn’t and he wouldn’t like
it either. What a coinkidink. Max got all upset that Aldo went there too. And
Rosa reacted even worse. They would both be shocked that Connie went there too. Connie leaves Vicky a huge tip. (If Vicky can get her act together, she would have a great mother-in-law in Connie.)
Gala is starting to think that Rod knew exactly who Luci was
in el Inferno and brought her to work in the house to have an adventure with
him. Julie thinks she’s crazy and Rod wouldn’t do a thing like that. Gala has
to agree that it’s not like him. Julie says this is a coincidence that they
have to take advantage of.
Oscar and Max are working in the office. Oscar still doesn’t
get why Rosa is in such a tizzy. Rod is a grown man (hombre hecho y derecho)
who has been living on his own and been responsible for himself for some time
now. Max doesn’t get it either. He thinks it’s a lack of respect for Rod on
Rosa’s part. Oscar also doesn’t think the class difference issue should be
causing all this fuss. If he found a woman like Luci who was good, hard
working, had good values, and above all loved him, he wouldn’t think about it
twice. Max questions if he would really
do it. Oscar points out that they are in the 21st century, for
Pete’s sake. In fact, he asked Rod the same thing, and he gave the same answer
he just did. Rod loves Luci, and nothing can get in the way of that.
Rod runs along the trail and tries to get a signal. He
finally gets to a spot where he gets a bit of signal to make an emergency call,
but the call drops. He keeps running, while yelling for help.
Estella is still wasting her precious time at the big house,
and is even helping Mati cook. She goes to check on Marianita and Frigida takes
the opportunity to blame Mati for causing all this trouble by recommending
Luci. Mati tells her to shut up because she knows NOTHING about what’s going on
here. And if she doesn’t shut her trap, then she’s going to see a Matilde that
she has NEVER seen before!
Aldo, hugged up with Pato in the back seat of the car, calls
Lorenzo to invite him out with them. Aldo asks if Pato also has feelings for
Luci. Yep, ever since he saw her for the first time. He flashes back to the
first time they met in Het Het. Aldo’s on a mission to cheer him up.
Luci and the mother are talking during a break between
contractions. The family has been having trouble getting enough for the little
one to eat and clean water. She points to where there is some clean water to
clean the baby once it arrives. She has another major contraction and passes
out. Luci screams for Rod.
Boris and Hannah hang out on the school lawn eating chips.
(They have the most delicious looking high calorie foods at this school.) He
wants to be with her all the time. He thinks they need alone time. For what?
For kisses. He gives her a long kiss, but she’s not into it and her eyes are
open the entire time.
Marcial tells Vio that he loves her. She’s starting to have
doubts since he’s going away again. She thinks her work is a problem for him.
He sees nothing wrong with her work. He can’t provide something better for her
right now, but he will. She never thought a man would value her, knowing the
work she does. She’s excited now that she’s singing and hopes that it will lead
to better things- another kind of life.
Magda and Paz look through a box of old clothes. Paz plans to repurpose some of the garments
to create new dresses for them to attend the wedding. They get excited looking
through the old dresses and come upon a blue dress Paz wore as a bridesmaid in
her cousin’s wedding years before. She tells Magda how she has a huge family in
the town she’s from-- lots of cousins. Magda points out that this is the first
time since Galdino died that she’s seen Paz so animated and happy. Paz
acknowledges this and says Galdino would not want to see her unhappy. She
thanks Magda for being like a sister to her. She doesn’t know what she would
have done without good and brave Magda. Magda is glad they have each other.
Padre does an exorcism on Rosa. (We wish!) He just prays
over her, but she’s immediately in her usual tizzy again. Why did God allow
Pato to have this accident? Padre tells her that the only thing she has to be
upset about is Pato’s accident, but she’s the one causing all this other drama.
Why? She says, because Linares came back into her life. Because of Luci’s
presence. Because her son has gone crazy over a servant. Do these seem
insignificant to Padre?! Uhm, yeah!
Patricio may be in a wheelchair, but he’s getting better. “He’ll never be the same!” Padre points out
that physically, no, but he may become a better man. Rosa won’t accept that.
And she won’t accept that they will all find out what she did. Padre thinks
that’s exactly it. Rosa doesn’t want people to know she’s not perfect. She
needs to root out that pride that’s eating at her soul. She’s surprised by Padre’s
lack of understanding. Padre Honesto informs Rosa that his job is to speak the
TRUTH.
Capitulo 45 scenes consolidated for expediency
Rod comes back to Luci and Maria, the sick mother in labor.
He brings her to consciousness with a cut onion that he rubs together and holds
under her nose. The situation for the mother and the baby on the way looks
grim.
Hannah is very relieved to get the kiss with Boris over with.
Like Luci, she has never had a boyfriend before. She wonders if it’s because no
guy has ever liked her. Boris admits that there have been lots who’ve liked
her, but he kept them at bay. She shoves some more chips in her mouth to avoid
another kiss.
Pato, Aldo and Lorenzo hang in a bar drinking beers (Aldo
helps Pato with his by giving him sips and taking sips from his mug too),
eating nuts, and flirting with girls at another table. Aldo thinks the girls
are totally into Pato. Pato thanks Aldo for getting him out.
Marianita informs Mati that Pato has gone out. The news
spreads like wildfire to Frigida and then to Rosa. She rips into Genaro, the
driver, and Aldo and Pato when they return. Pato puts her in her place and
tells her to save her sermons since she doesn’t know what it’s like to be imprisoned
by four walls every day.
Melissa bids Claudio farewell and wishes him a good trip.
She manages to hide her fan girl crush pretty well. Barrera then calls Claudio
to report on the Het Het happenings with the properties.
Gala is convinced that Rod and Luci knew each other before
she started working at the house. (Correct) She calls Rosa up and tells her
this theory. Rosa can’t believe it. Later, Gala calls Pato, who confirms that
he and Rod met Luci in Het Het. Gala is convinced it was there they became
lovers and Rod purposely brought Luci to the house to be his lover. (Wrong!)
Pato tells her this is not so. Luci didn’t even get along with Rod at first and
scolded him because he delayed getting her father help. Gala thinks Luci and
Rod meeting in Het Het, then at the club, and then at Casa Torreslanda is too
much coincidence. She does not realize she is living in a telenovela.
Vicky commiserates with her boss that she would like to go
out to movies and such, like a normal young person does with her boyfriend. Her
boss encourages her to end things with Max, so she can do those things. Vicky
claims she can’t because she LOVES her Osito. Well, if she won’t dump him, then
she needs to be getting more out of this deal. Not just little gifts, but an actual
investment, like a house or a business. (How’s she going to explain that to her
dad?) Make him pay. Vicky seems to like the idea.
Max calls Pato and finds out, to his delight, that he’s in a
bar where Aldo has taken him. Max tells Oscar that Aldo never ceases to
surprise him. He’s spontaneous. Max admits to Oscar that Aldo is actually way
more smart and clever than he appears. Hmm…Max gets a call from his “licensiada”
(aka Vicky) and makes plans to see her very soon.
Hannah tells Melissa about the dud of a kiss with Boris.
Since her only other kissing experience was spin the bottle in middle school,
she’s no expert, but she knows she should have felt more. Melissa encourages
her to give Boris a chance to woo her, but also tells her that she can’t date
someone just because she feels sorry for him.
Later at the house, Pato admits to Hannah that he was scared
to go out at first, but then he really enjoyed himself. He does not believe
those girls were flirting with him, and if they were, it was because they
didn’t realize he’s in a wheelchair. Hannah calls him a super galan and a
galanaso (a major galan/babe), and says he will find someone amazing. Pato also
tells Hannah why their mom is so freaked out about Luci—her resemblance with
Aurora Linares. It is a mystery to them why this would be, since Rosa and
Aurora were supposedly such good friends.
Rosa continues to have a fit about EVERYTHING. Her
interrogation of Estella keeps getting interrupted. She keeps getting calls. Padre
came to visit and didn’t tell her what she wanted to hear. Pato left home with
Aldo, without her permission. Max comes home for lunch and the meal isn’t ready
yet, so he leaves (to have an afternoon delight with his mistress Vicky).
Hannah announces at lunch that she kissed a boy, and she liked it (but she
didn’t really). Then everyone leaves Rosa alone at the dining room table to
continue her bitch session of one.
Rod and Luci make an excellent team coaching Maria through
her labor and catching and cleaning the baby boy when he finally arrives. Rod
cleans up the bed sheets, Maria and her two babies get some rest, and Rod and
Luci take a well deserved nap on the floor. When they wake, Maria is burning
with fever once more and they work to cool her down. To make matters worse,
Maria’s husband comes home, freaks out about the two strangers in his house,
and threatens them with his machete. Rod talks him down and introduces him to
his new son.
Vicky and Max have their afternoon delight. He’s in a good
mood today, and she’s feeling frisky as well. She makes herself comfortable by
getting naked on the couch, but, isn’t leather uncomfortable on bare flesh? He
loves that she’s taken the initiative. She loves provoking her Osito. They get
busy. Later, in bed, she pouts a bit about not being able to be public with
Max. He’s not sympathetic. He reminds her that he’s married.
Maria continues to become more feverish, and the little boy
still has a fever as well. Mr. Maria is reluctant to take them to a hospital
because of the cost. Rod and Luci convince him and he and Rod go off to get
help. (I’m pretty sure Rod is paying the costs.) The paramedics finally arrive
later and take the whole family with them. Both Mari and her husband are
grateful to our hero and heroine. Rod and Luci are glowing with their
accomplishment and hug each other tight.
After making the poor woman wait all day, then berating her
into helping Mati prepare lunch (repeat after me Estella—Look lady, I DON’T
work for you!), and making her granddaughter stay outside, Rosa finally corners
Estella. She wants to know EVERYTHING about Luci.
Still on a high from their adventure, Rod and Luci continue
their walk along the river. Rod finds a perfect spot in the river near the
falls, takes off his shirt and shoes, and convinces Luci to join him in the
water. They sit in the middle of the beautiful river to exchange their vows of
love, then they begin kissing and some heavy petting that looks like it might
lead somewhere.
Avances: Rod and Luci might actually do the deed! Rosa
finds out the names of Luci's parents from Estella and collapses from the shock.

Abismo de pasión #74 6/25/12: Squeal!!! Scheme!!! Snooze!!! Stuff!!! Seethe!!!
It might be kind of short tonight. I am a bit pithed by the ending.
Part I- In which my husband asks "Did you just squeal??"
Casa de Dios/Gael
Dam: Dude! You had my amulet all along!!
Gael: I swear I was going to give it back, but I didn't. Sorry.
Dam: I'm gonna take a bath.
Casa Castigo
Lolita is mad at Horacio and doesn't plan on waiting for him to return. She's too hungry. Meanwhile, Horacio is borrowing the bartender's truck for some "work" the patrona wants him to do.
Assgu comes to the dining room for dinner. Elisa thought he was...er...busy with Tía. But no. He wants to eat with Elisa. Elisa is so excited she forgot her new boob size and runs into a chair on her way to her end of the table. Elisa wants to talk to him about something important, but Carmina arrives and the fun begins.
Assgu: if you are hungry go eat in the kitchen or the terrace. I don't want your orange butt in my dining room. Since we're all here, let me tell everyone that I no longer consider this rotten piece of citrus fruit my wife. If you're hungry, fix your own damn food. If your clothes are dirty, wash them your own damn self. Lolita, I don't want you to wait on her anymore.
Lolita: You don't need to tell me twice!!
Assgu: Now scram, Guppy Lips! Elisa and I want to have dinner as a family.
Guppy Lips: You're not fair!! *whimper*
Lolita: WOOT!!!
Recapper: SQUEE!!!
Casa Arango
Fina dines with Guido and we learn that Flor and Paolo are at a play date with the Tovar children. Fina takes the opportunity to ask Guido to fire Enrique. Guido blusters, but eventually caves. Fina has him by the cajones.
Back at the Castañon house, Elisa learns that Assgu won't give Carmeany a second chance. Assgu plans to make her life a living hell in the hopes she leaves on her own.
Guppy Lips swears Assgu will regret his actions. (Bingo alert: Villain talks to self out loud and Te juro)
Casa Tovar
The play date is going well and a fine vintage is brought out. Mama Tovar comes home and kicks the Landuccis out and lets Sabrina and Quique know their father was in a bar room brawl. (Which is actually kind of ironic since the Landuccis were kicked to the curb on the pretext that the Tovars were a "decent family.")
Casa de Dios/Gael/Padre
Padre made dinner. Dam Inconsiderate can't stay. He has to go to Casa Castigo
Hospital
Tovar kids visit dad. Where will he stay when they discharge him?? Begone browbeats him 'til he agrees to come back to the house.
Casa Harangue-O
Fina harangues Flor. Flor, luckily, has some pride and refuses to play Fina's game. No, she won't fight for Dam and no, she won't stay in La Ermita any more. Who cares if Fina manipulated daddy Guido to stay. She asks Fina to leave so she can pack.
Part II- In Which Men Scheme
Lolita waits up for Horacio, despite her saying she wasn't.
Elisa wants to make coffee to take to dad. She's going to talk to him about Dam.
La Cantina
Gab and Paolo scheme. Turns out Paolo is the one that ran Guido's business into the ground. Who knew he had such great forgery skills? Gab wants to channel that skill into embezzling money from the Pro Ce and throwing the blame on Guido. They discuss terms.
Gab: 30-30
Paolo: Psh!! Dude! I am a forger extraordinaire and you are asking me to screw my own brother over. I deserve at least half.
Gab: Oh, all right.
Casa Arango
Fina: I had a fight with Flor. No biggie. She says she's going back to the DF.
Guido: Ok. Good for her.
Fina: Whaaaa????? She has to stay here.
Guido: Whaaa??? There is no reason for her to stay.
Fina: Grrrr.
Casa Castigo
Lolita and Elisa are still making coffee. Elisa is nervous. Horacio still hasn't shown up.
In town, Dam sees Ramona in her cart. They talk about the power of the amulet and Dam and Elisa's love. Apparently between Ramona's amulets and the power of lerve, they can withstand anything. I hope so. Fina is out for blood (you'll see.) Ramona says she's never wrong. Does that mean an anvil for Gael and Paloma's relationship?
Elisa starts to talk to Assgu about farmy stuff and talk turns to Dam and the reconciliation. A bell rings. We hear Lolita telling Dam Pushy he can't come in. Dam has come to talk to Assgu personally. Don Ass is somewhat cordial. Dam Formal asks to marry Elisa. Neither Sr. Ass nor Fina can keep them apart.
Part III- In Which We Snooze
Elisa stands up to dad and reminds him what an ass he was for all those years. She is not going to give up a chance at happiness. Don Ass says he'll think about the Dam Proposal.
Casa Arango
Flor is decided. She's leaving. Guido thinks it's a great decision and Guido thinks Paolo should go with her. Paolo is not so inclined. Guido reminds Paolo that he's essentially a bum.
Fina tells Flor she will be taking her to the airport. Flor tries in vain to turn down Fina's "kindness." I actually feel sorry for Flor.
Part IV- In Which We Learn the Fate of Kenia's Stuff
Casa Castigo
Horacio is home from his nocturnal activities. Lolita is pithed and lets him have it. She is not going to put up with an irresponsible, drunk bum for a husband. Horacio promises it won't happen again. Don Ass comes and asks Horacio to get the horse from Don Lucio and also get his horse ready. He wants to take Elisa riding. Elisa is dressed in long pants. No Gold Bond needed. Elisa things are getting better. Poor little twit.
ING finds out from the Real Estate agent that someone called and said Kenia has left. She didn't even want the deposit for the year's rent! Surprisingly, ING does NOT ask about the money. Instead, ING asks about the stuff inside. It's all gone. Heeey, remember that truck Horacio borrowed in Part I???
Speaking of the Orange Julius Devil, Carmina is asking about Kenia's stuff. Horacio cleared it all out and dumped it in a neighboring village. Horacio wonders what happened to Kenia and assumes (correctly) that if Carmina is involved...it can't be good. Don Ass interrupts. Nem-ho is surprised and pithed to learn that Don Ass is going to go riding with Elisa.
Part V-In Which the Recapper Seethes
Alternate Title: Jewish Grandmother from Hell
Fina's driver has a lead foot. Fina wants Flor to stay. Flor...not so much. Fina tells Flor all about Daddy's financial woes and lets the girl know she can forget living in the lap of luxury. If Flor leaves, Fina is going to fire Daddy AND demand an immediate payback on the loan she made him.
Carmina crashes Doc Tovar's office. Paloma Loose Lips tells her about the fight in the bar.
Elisa (modestly garbed) and Don Ass talk habanero stuff. He's going to sell Cielo Abierto to help pay back the loan. Blah. Whatever. He's being saying it for weeks. Sell the damn thing already.
Fina is prepared to do anything to get Dam away from Elisa. Fina brings up the fake pregnancy. Fina wants a grandchild (blood), dammit. She's desperate. Flor, being logical, says to Fina that she and Dam Celibate haven't been intimate in months. In Fina's world, it's just a matter of Flor being pretty and seductive (Bingo Alert: There may be a "Galán sleeps with someone other than Protagonista" or "Galán gets drunk" or "Galán is drugged" in the near future.) Fina is sure that if Flor can manage to get herself knocked up (which I now know how to say in Spanish thanks to Julia), Dam Honorable will do the right thing since he knows how it feels to grow up without a dad. Padre will probably be on their side, too. Flor should be on board with this since having Fina's grandchild will assure her a share in the Arango fortune...something Daddy could use. Flor is stuck between a rock and Fina.
Avances
- Bingo Alert: GRATUITOUS SHIRTLESSNESS!!!
