Our problem here at Caray, Caray!
2. We have readers
3. We don't have a novela we like
I too was horrified to hear that Barrera is so long. Maybe it will improve after taking the long leap into the future today - but what if it doesn't?
I love Chris's recaps of La Fea Mas Bella and hope he keeps it up - and maybe he'll even win some viewers - but I just can't watch this show. The whole idea of calling people ugly offends me mightily, I don't like bimbos, and since I strongly suspect that the "happy ending" is going to involve Lety taking off her glasses, getting cool clothes, and becoming foxy, what's the message really? I'd rather be rooting for somebody who actually IS smart and plain. I'm tired of miniskirts and big breasts.
How long is Peregrina going on? Maybe whatever follows it will be better, in which case I would happily jump ship. Or maybe they'll realize what a dog Barrera is and take its good time slot away.
Thoughts?
Labels: announcements, barrera, fea-e
There are two new ones that are on in Mexico: Duelo de Pasiones stars Pablo Montero. He is quite cute. And there is Heridas de Amor. I don't like Jacqueline Bracamontes too much and the male lead, Guy Ecker, doesn't look too great either (but he's better than Unibrow!). Peregrina ended in Mexico in the first week of April so I guess it will be ending here soon. I haven't seen any Ultimos capitolos ads for Peregrina yet but with TiVo, I don't see all the ads.
Then there's Telemundo. I watched a little of Pasiones de Gavilanes on that channel a while ago because I like Mario Cimarro but the titles were in English. They have a much cooler website than Esmas does:

I guess we keep on with Barerra until something better comes along.
1) 130 (200)
2) (130) 200
3) 200
So I don't know if this means they originally had 130 episodes and increased to 200 (why?) or the other way around (makes more sense but I doubt it), or whatever.
I despaired after watching Barrera for the first time after Alborada. It was a big let-down and I couldn't imagine trying to translate it week after week. Such hard work for such a dismal show. Melinama gave me a bit of a pep talk and I recognized the whole point was to work on Spanish skills while at the same time having some entertaining interaction with readers and other bloggers. The recaps are hilarious and it would be a shame for them to stop. I think it would be fun if more people got involved, either on a regular or irregular basis. I love that ferro94 is doing just this.
Although I have warmed up somewhat to Barrera I would drop it in a second for a better novela. The thought of watching/working on it from now until December kind of scares me. I don't know if I get Telefutura, I'll have to check. I'll also keep my ears and eyes open for something better.
I also really enjoy the recaps and look forward to the laughs that I get over reading your impression of what's going on. I would really hate for it to end. It's a highlight of my day.
There is a novela on telemundo that stars Gabriel Spanic, the same girl who was in la usurpadora. She was really great in it. I have watched it a few times. Everybody on the show is gorgeous but I don't speak enough to know if it has a plot or more cheese. I will gladly jump ship with the rest of the gang! Whether you think that's a good thing.....

Maybe there could be an "open comment/recap Thursdays" where some people could post the parts they understood and other people could fill in the blanks or something.
If you guys want to jump ship and go onto another telenovela...I am with you!
Thank you,
Marie--a recap wantabe.

I have to admit that I have a hard time seeing children being mistreated. Even Jacintas method of sending the child to bed without dinner is sick. Soooo Im game!
I did some recaps as a sub for Alborada, but I just can't watch Barreras. Does everyone who logs on here get Telemundo, or do some of you only get Univision? I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, have a satellite dish, and get about 6 Spanish language stations, none of which requires me paying more to get them.

I agree Barerra Stinks. La Fea is silly and over the top. However, Chris's recaps are keeping me watching. Thanks to all you Bloggers' hard work.
