La Fea Más Bella #256 4/18/07 Tables turn as Galan moves into the closet, cuartel get a new roomie, and Heeeee's Baaaccckkk!
Tomas is at Alicia’s building begging to be let in to her apartment because she hasn’t responded to him and he’s worried something happened. The guard tells him maybe no one is home, but once he finds out who he is looking for, he lets him know that she doesn’t live there anymore. Tomas is impactado.
Alicia at a local park is lamenting her situation that she has nowhere to sleep and is cold. Just then Sara comes upon her and asks what she’s doing here, sarcastically saying don’t tell me you are conducting an anthropological study about poorness. She starts to agree that’s why and Sara realizes she’s fibbing and that she really has nowhere to go. Alicia denies it, then a homeless person tells the gossiping loudmouths to shut up so he can sleep. In unison she and Sara both tell the vulgar man to shut up! Jinx. They smile at each other, awww. Bonding.
Erasmo tells Julieta how proud he is of his daughter for being decent and principled and not going around like that woman he came upon, without scruples, overdressed and made up etc. with no shame. Moty is making himself comfortable on the bed. Lety comes up and listens in to Papa saying these things, but she makes a noise and papa wonders who is there. She barks like Moty and runs into her room. Erasmo looks down and sees Moty on the bed, impressed at his ventriloquism. Juli tells him he should go to bed, it’s just a dog outside.
Lety admires herself in her best Aurora voice saying finally she’s herself again. Scared of her own Aurora voice, she starts talking in Lety speak to herself wondering what her parents would really think if they knew she was this other person and lying to the whole world. She thinks her pa would kill her, but her mom would probably understand, though she decides she’s not going to worry them with this. Besides she won’t be Aurora anymore and she’ll keep this little adventure of a Fea to herself until maybe someday she’ll tell them. She then starts writing in her diary wondering who she should stay with Aldo or Fer. She looks at the pictures of them and can’t decide. It’s easy to decide about being Aurora or Lety, but not between these two guys. She says good bye to Aurora forever. (Yeah right) What to do about the galans. Wish I had that problem.
Lola and PM are pawns to a product promo as they enjoy eating some Tia Rosa tortillinas very prominently displayed center screen. I almost wondered if I shouldn't even mention them by name here since it's just more free advertising for them. Anyway, PM says she’s a great cook, Lola says it’s the tortillinas. PM is very pleasantly dressed for being in home. She should wear things like this to work instead, really. Just then Sara knocks on the door she tells them it’s an emergency. Sara tells them sometimes in life one has to rise above the situation, forgive and forget. They want to know what the heck. Sara says it’s not about me, but this poor foolish, foolish woman. Again, what the heck.
She opens the door to reveal that she has brought the Oxi for refuge. Sara tells her where she was found. Reluctantly, they let her in and finally agree to let her stay. Sara trips over the luggage and the Oxi thanks them for their generosity and makes a beeline for the food. She too makes her plug for the tortillinas and proceeds to enjoy the chow.
Fern is in his house staring at his stalker er, Lety shrine, Aldo is drawing his stalker picture of Lety to look at (looks like the one she used to have in her office from that other guy), Lety is mentally excercising her decision, and Omar is in his apartment penning his latest line of Jalmarks, this time for Aurora.
Now the next day, the three are together waiting for Ariel to start the meeting he called and Fer is mad that Ariel calls a meeting then shows up late. Omar on the other hand says life is great and sings praises for his Aurora, and wants to read his card. I would think this would be a sore spot for those three, and thankfully Fer tries to stop him, but somehow Lety is amused and tells him to proceed, and she even laughs. They don’t understand why of course. She says it’s 'cause he’s a good reader. He continues: “Your curls are golden like the sun, your lips are a moment of sensuality. Your hands are as delicate as a bud.” Just then they each get a text message from Domensain. Fer says he does not read them if they are from Aldo. Fer is perturbed that Lety and Aldo are “messaging.”
Ok I’m curious about the unusual brown/white polka dot blazer/kimono thing Lety chose today, I don’t know, it’s like Kate Spade meets Samurai loungewear.
Simon is discussing Oxi’s plight with the cuartel who is mad that she ate all the breakfast. Simon says he’ll bring her whatever she wants to eat. She doesn’t want anything from him. Just then Colonel Klink, er, Ariel walks in, he is complaining to Celso to carry himself properly or he will be sent on his way. Celso starts to call him Don Fer but catches himself. He is barking orders at everyone, even Luigi who protests being yelled at but likes Ari's watch.
Ariel summons everyone to the meeting room, rapido. Everyone. To tell them about his decision for the firm. They all get in there and he says he’s getting rid of half of the people. Omar and Fer are no longer needed. Fer protests that he is an owner and associate and can’t be let go. Ariel tells him he still doesn’t need to be an employee. Fer tells him, but I’m a shareholder and this is a meeting of advisement so I’m not going anywhere. A says fine, I’ll get rid of the failures and the inept ones now, so Lety, you can go. Fer says over my dead body. Ariel likes the challenge and gets ready to duke it out when the doorman, uh Alpo, rides in on his white horse, uh, I mean in a crimson smoking jacket/military coat thingy. He asks if everything is alright, and Luigi violently shakes his head no, and Lety just beams. Blech. Oh well.
Fer asks Ariel to explain his genius plan to Alpo and they spill the beans that Ariel wants them all out and the first to go is Lety. Aldo tells them all decisions must get his approval, Ariels's committee has no authority. He tells him he bought the debt so he has every right to say that. Ariel says his best advice is that he will lose all of his money. Alpo says his best advice for Ari is that he leave. Alpo continues that the people here are already the most capable of continuing the business. Ariel won’t be missed. The room hisses with appreciation. The whole lot of them happily wave goodbye to Ariel on his way out. Ari says this isn’t going to end here. Aldo says nice to meet you too, as@h(&$, (ok, well no not really, but I would have). Outside he runs into Marcia and informs her of the happenings. She questions why he doesn’t fight for this. He warns her he will but he wants to talk to the lawyers first.
Back in the meeting, everyone cheers Aldo. He says everything will stay as it was for now. Fer asks about the debt. Mar walks in and snips that all the “staff” are there, that this isn’t really any of their business. Aldo tells them to stay and that he bought the business to help because if he didn’t it would have been liquidated today and everyone would be out on their butts, but it’s not, so you aren’t. Ok, now you can leave.
Fer says thanks. Aldo tells him thanks aren’t necessary as this isn’t a gift. You owe me all the money, but you won’t have to pay it for 6 months, a better deal than the judge gave you. They all agree and he says there will be interest, which makes their eyes round, but at the lowest market rate. They calm. Lety says that’s very fair and the business will cover it. Luigi thinks he’s the best owner ever, Fer says he’s not the owner. Aldo agrees, but he still makes the decisions for now. He asks one thing though, does Lety still want to be president? She says NO.
The cuartel discusses the meeting.
Tomas shows up and laments that Oxi is gone. PM thinks it’s great. T says she lives in his memory etc. They say no she lives in Lola’s house. He gets happy. So we go to the house where she is “babysitting” the kids. She waits for the cuartel to call her, while the kids ask to play a game. She decides to play a game with them that she is a star. She starts singing and the kids begin to cringe.
Aldo asks Lety why she doesn’t want to be president anymore. She says she does, but she doesn’t but she wants to talk to him first. Fer says ok, lets all go to your office. She says no sorry, alone with Aldo. Fer says yes of course, so then you two will go to your office then. He is of course troubled. Aldo smiles. Omar tells Fer he’s going to suffer again. Fer thanks the idiot for reminding him. They leave. Everyone else leaves except for Lopez who gets suggestive assistance from Fer. Marcia comments that surely Lety will decide in favor of Aldo very soon. Fer gets impactado.
Lety asks why he bought the debt without letting her know first. She might actually be wearing some big panties today. He says because he was anxious about her promise to the Mendos and that’s why she wouldn’t go to Acapulco with him. He tells her is only intention was to set her free, so that she could decide without any pressure to stay here.
She tells him, until he asked her about remaining president she really thought he was trying to manipulate the situation. (NO kidding?) L -You were expecting me to resign no? He says yes. She says, I couldn’t leave or I would really feel like a failure. But, you want to know what bugs me the most? It’s that when you saw me kissing Fer and you left ,well I discovered…he interrupts, you discovered…she continues what I really feel for you. He says you're mad that you discovered your feelings? She tells him she was sure she loved Fer. He says and now you don’t? She says yes, but it’s that…he leans in again and asks if she loves him. She is startled.
He asks again if she loves him, deaf one.
In the locker room Omar is razzing Fer about Lety’s conversation with Aldo. Omar tells him to think hard about why Gargoleti likes Alpo better than him. He continues, it’s obvious, because Aldo sacrificed much for her, but what did you give her, problems, a headache, suffering and the like. Fer says he thanks God everyday for a friend like him. Fer says he made her suffer but he also sacrificed for her. He sacrificed his love for her happiness to let her be free to choose Aldo if she wants. He doesn’t think Alpo will do the same.
Aldo is telling Lety that he learned from his Mom that love is sacrifice and one should give all they have for it, but he says that he’s not a saint (news to us) and yes, he gave her everything, but he did it so that she will be happy with him. Lety tells Aldo that she needs him with her. Aldo tells her to have faith in herself. When you finally tell me that you love only me, I know it will be forever. He tells her not to get upset, that he cares about her a lot. She cares about him too. Double Blech.
The cuartel Aldo lust fest resumes. They fawn over him and then show him the Aurora picture. He says she’s pretty, but he prefers someone more down to earth, like Lety. PM is surprised that he admitted it in the open. He says he has nothing to hide that the whole world should know that he is in love with her. He asks after Fer.
Once he leaves the cuartel speculates that Fer and Aldo are going to fight, but they decide that their mission is to discover who the mystery woman is so that they can win the dinner with none other than our principal papalote hunk Colunga!!!! The paper must be sponsoring this contest.
Omar tells Fer to stop walking in circles, that it is making him dizzy, and Fe counters that he’s sick of Aurora talk. Omar says not to compare the two, Gargolety has nothing on Aurora. They spar about whose love is better until Aldo enters and breaks up the fun. Al wants to talk. Omar hesitates to leave until Fer compels him to. Fer apologizes to Aldo saying to forgive the slow learner.
Ok, this conversation bugged me. Fern asks Al what the real reason was for buying the debt. Aldo firmly says for Lety’s love. Fer says, of course, you are glad to be a step ahead of me. Holier than thou Domensain then proceeds to tell Fer that everything he has, he got by his own hand, that he never asked for his Dad’s help, in contrast with immature Fer who got everything from his Papi, including the business that he ran into the ground. Aldo matured from his hard knocks, and Fer grew up as daddy’s little boy, and that kept him from maturing and made him selfish.
Fer tells him he has no idea what it was like to grow up in his house, nor whether it was easy or difficult but he will warn him of one thing, that he, himself, will end up with Leticia.
The cuartel on their Colunga mission go in to see Lety, to see if they can get her to hire the woman mysterioso for a commercial so they can find out who she is. She is of course impactada. They beg her, then the conversation turns to ask about what will happen to the Oxi. Tomas begs that he be allowed to hire her. Lety says for that he'd first have to ask Marcia since Ali was her assistant.
Back at Aldo and Fer’s heart to heart, Aldo asks Fer if he realizes that he can’t make someone love him. Fer says of course, he says the same thing. Now Aldo breaks out the big ammo. He tells Fer that he saw how much Lety suffered because of what Fer did to her and that he hurt her a lot and that he doubts that he even knows how to love her.
Fer tells Aldo that Aldo has no idea how much he has suffered for Lety and that he knows very well what it means to be in love and to love her. He proposes a pact between them, that neither can be alone with Lety without the other knowing about it.
They shake, but Aldo tells him that in the meantime he just wants to say that he hopes Fer suffocates, and Fer retorts that he hopes Aldo drowns or chokes.
Lety for some unexplained reason goes in to talk to Marcia who makes a smart remark about being a loser. Lety says she’s not a loser. Mar says, you are right I’m a double loser, because not only did I give Fer to you for nothing, but I gave him to you so that you can despise him.
Lety says that’s not true, that she loves him. Mar says, yeah, as much as Aldo, you have a big heart then, capable of making everyone around it suffer. Lety says no she doesn’t want to hurt anyone, that this whole thing is bigger than she is.
Mar smartly tells her to stop playing the victim, that she is much more astute than she lets on, and she knows what she is doing. She says no, I’m the same Lety that came here to Conceptos. She parts by telling Marcia that really, she wants her to be happy.
Omar & Fer are again discussing their women. Fer is worried about losing Lety and wonders how he can be close to Lety without her feeling pressured by him. Omar has an idea. He tells Fer that he should be her secretary. Yeah, he just wants Fer out of “their” office!
Fer goes in with his toys and tells Lety he’s decided he’s going to be her assistant and he’s going to take over the closet. She is, of course, impactada. She doesn’t think that’s a good idea, and since when did he think that dark hole was an office. He says it’s not a dark hole, it’s a very nice office. She agrees.
He admits that yes, he wants to do this to be close to her. Besides that, he explains that no one trusts him, and that his parents must trust Ariel more than they trust him because they allowed Ari to try and be president and don’t think Fer’s capable of running the business. Fe continues, “I need to demonstrate that I can be humble, and that I can work hard.”
She asks if he really thinks he’ll get that by becoming her assistant. He calls her Dona Lety and tells her that yes, he really wants to gain her trust, because he knows she trusts Aldo more, even though she doesn’t say it. He doesn’t blame her because Aldo’s turned into the Savior of their business. She says yes, he’s been very generous.
Fer tries to be gracious and reluctantly agrees, he has, but notes how the tables have turned, that now he’s in debt to a guy that he finds, well, not that pleasing, well, and Lety interrupts that you find him very displeasing. Yes, I dislike him, but I appreciate the opportunity to save my business, my parents' business.
Just then Aldo walks in. He notes that Fer is not respecting their pact. He walks up to Lety and gropes her like old times. Lety wants to know, what pact?

I hated the way Aldo was groping Lety and she kept trying to move away from him! Geez, even she thought it was creepy!!!
Poor Alicia. I thought it was touching the way Sara found her in the park and called her "Alicia". It looks like the cuartel who were her enemies are kinder friends than nasty Marcia.
No, not Col. Klink, Ariel is more like Major Haksteader.
Klink was not really evil but Haksteader (my favorite bad guy on Hogans) was much more Ariel like.
Ariel would have made a good Nazi on the show. He might even have had Haksteader quaking in his boots.
I too thought when I saw Alpo in his red whatever coat, "He's back".
I really didn't like his smug takeover attitude. Yes, he got rid of Ariel but he was WAY too bossy with Fern and Lety.
Thanks again,
Carrie L.

I loved when Lety and Omar and Fernando were hanging out together, and Omar even takes Lety into his confidence. And she was very funny the way she was waving her hands when he read "manos de capullo."
Hated when Aldo put his hands on Lety at the end. Ugh, he was worse than ever. But Fernando is getting cuter. Lety seems to just about fall for him every so often, but then she catches herself.
Holding his Adam statue (the wooden statue, used by artists for drawing)and using the arm to wave at Lety, adorable.
Darn, Lety looks lovingly at Fernando nowadays, and tells Aldo she loves him , too. No me gusta!
I liked most of what Aldo did -getting rid of Ariel, saving the company, setting a fair payback schedule, saving all the jobs, BUT I hated the way he groped Lety's shoulder and wouldn't let her get away. And that smarmy (she's mine!) look on his face - ick.
Marycelis- so that's what that wooden man is - I always wondered about it. Thanks!
Ninak - well said - Lety is almost falling for Fer again..I guess that's some progress and better than the cold shoulder.
Loved the Lety/Fer/Omar scene. Fer couldn't believe she wanted to hear Omar's poem. Maybe being Aurora isn't so bad for her, even if there's a little payback to Omar.
I can't figure out what's wrong with my browser, but I'm assuming it's not working right because this is coming up throughout your post: "[if !supportEmptyParas]->"
I also loved Lety with the Jazz Hands!
Fern wearing his heart on his sleeve -- telling Lety why he wants to be her assistant -- is just unbearibly sweet!
I can't pass up a chance to say "ditto on Fernando". ¡Qué precioso!
That two million dollar investment in Conceptos not only includes lording over people, but groping and subjecting the viewers to another hideous jacket worn by Aldo. Let's see if that big investment can buy Aldo what he really wants, off to Acapulco hand in hand with Lety?
Fernando in the closet..Yes, I thought that would happen..He's so cute and willing to give Lety her freedom to find whatever she's looking for(but be close to love and protect her). Aldo hangs like a cheap suit to Lety.
About Lety’s jacket…I was thinking she must have run out of the hair dressers with that cape thing they put around you still on, then I remembered, she does not GO to the hairdressers. Alpo marking his territory…putting his hands back on Lety in that last scene after she tried to roll away from him. Ewww. He lives up to his nickname.

Re the girls bonding moment the homeless guy yelled for them "cuacaguayas" spelling may not be right because I forget the exact syllables right now, but it means "gossipy loud mouths." They retorted together "Callate Mujadero" which means vulgar or crude guy. Hysterical scene! I don't know I suppose General Hochstetter might work, but Klink, whether good or bad, was always trying to make everyone get in order (whether it worked or not) and was always shouting at everyone, especially Schultz, so that was my reference there, not the evil so much.
Fair is fair so I have to say I did enjoy Aldo letting Ariel have it and the whole room hissing at him like the snake he is. Aldo's messy hair and valet jacket -ugh he is dipping from the same ugly closet where Lety gets her duds.
Oh yeah and then when Aldo goes out and encounters his cuartel fan club he pets them all under their chins like you would a pet dog. OK I do think they are bi**hs but this is allegedly a place of business and his treatment of them is condescending and sickening.
End of today's Aldo rant.
Love the Fern, Lety, Omar chat. Fern did seem to be puzzled as to why Lety was finding Omar's prose so hilarious and Omar remained oblivious. If he only knew his goddess was right in front of him.
Loved Fern bringing his model and stuff and planning to set up shop in the closet which will give him great eavesdropping space as he and Lety have now effectively changed places. He did forget to bring his little tree but that can't be far behind. I find it interesting how since his growth he has become so much calmer and controlled and he and Lety are able to sit and talk sweetly together without her trying to turn him into a block of stone. PG would be proud of him but the same can't be said for Lety. Loving someone should bring out the best in you which it has with Fern. Unfortunately "loving" Aldo isn't brining out the best in her.
I am so uncomfortable with the hatred being expressed for Aldo. It's so peculiarly cruel and personal, different from people's dislike for characters on other shows. For this reason I've almost stopped reading comments on this telenovela.
I think maybe she really does love Aldo cause maybe some people love/lust two people at the same time "Dr Phil House", but seriously Lety is too, "nice girl" for that..The passion she had for Fer before, she would have had no doubt, also with Aldo; there is no shame, (in her eyes), the cheating, the cooking the books...I don't think she can face that.
***Disclaimer***Aldo would never evah be my choice...but hey to each his own
People keep confusing liking what is said with the ability to say something. No one says you have to like what you hear, or like the person that says it, or think it's moral or proper or any such thing. But man, you have to respect that the person has a right to say it. Think as badly of them as you wish, and speak a counterpoint if you wish, but don't think badly of the concept itself, nor qualify it in some manner.
Having said this, Melinama has every right to express her opinion of the comments, and choose not to read them if that's what she wishes, in the same way the commenters should be able to express their full sentiments relating to Aldo, good or bad.
But........ let's not take all these things that are said too seriously, people on either side. Heavens, it's only a telenovela. None of these characters are real!!!!
Thanks!
Myra
If you want to see hate just ask for my thoughts on Colunga. ;-)
Rosenna
The scene with Marcia and Lety made no sense - I thought she was going to talk about rehiring Alicia.
Loved Fern in this one. If it weren't for him, I'd have given up on this show months ago.
As for that sketch of Lety, funny how Eduardo, Fernando, and Aldo all drew Lety in the exact same pose, the exact same granny dress, signed with the exact same illegible name. Only in telenovelaland.
Angel
I admit I'd be interested in hearing what he might have done to earn those thoughts, he just seems sooooo dreamy to me. If you'd like to share just a little to give me a clue, well I wouldn't mind learning out of curiousity as I haven't heard many with that opinion yet.
Anyways, thanks too, for those who comment on the show itself. It is appreciated that you are helping to keep us mostly on that one track...
I don't see Fernando or anyone else selling their stuff to save Conceptos. All Fern does is gossip with Omar. He doesn't show much initiative to help the company.
I'm glad Aldo had an honest conversation with Fern. You could tell that Fern was not used to being talked to like that.
Yeah, Aldo had a smug look on his face at the end when he "claimed " Lety. But Fernando also had a smug look on his face when Aldo caught Fern and Lety kissing. Payback.
Barb
I don't mind attacks on Ariel, however.
Beckster- c'mon, no way is Lety going to have the same passion for Aldo as for Fer. She and Fernando connected on some deep level [soul, energy, or my fave -dysfunction :), whatever] that Aldo couldn't even buy a ticket to.
Farrah = Aldo - so right! Same hair and big teeth. LOL
(other than picking up chicks), he too is a failure at business. That house Fernando has is lot to be worth mega dinero..in real life he probably could have sold that and paid off the whole debt (unless it was heavily mortgaged), that amount of land, in a gated area in Mexico City would be prime..but of course it is a TeleNovela so it makes no sense.
PS I never liked Juan baby in any other TeleNovela...& I had a major hate-on for Cesear Evora after EEAYO..I got way too involved in that one..I liked FC due to his hottness in Amor R, and wasn't Ernesto his b-in-law in that? I actually liked him it that cause he was flawed...but normally Ernesto makes me grind my teeth as he ooozes goodness and light...Rene Strickler, Guy Ecker nah...(I am really bad about German Latins) I'm like it is a TeleNovela...I want the people to look Latin.
Your taste and mine must be similar. Those Germanic Latins leave me cold and I've never cared for fair men like JS anyway but I do make an exception for Arturo Peniche who is an incredible actor and has been smart to move away from the galan trap. I like Cesar with that gorgeous sexy voice of his and loved him in La Madrasta, playing his own age and his love scenes with Victoria Ruffo were hot, hot hot. I've been watching FC for years and have seen improvements with his acting but he still is a bit stiff. His best performance by a mile was in Alborada but most of the rest of the cast far outshown him except for Lucero who turned in her worst effort. I just don't find him hot, he always seems a little greasy looking to me and in his early days went really overboard with the body building stuff. Unfortunately for him he is getting trapped in the galan costume trap which does not bode well for him as he moves further into his 40's You are right about the goody goody Ernesto and does he ever play someone without a cross around his neck. LOL I'll even admit to liking Sergio Goya except in the demented part he is now playing.
OK ladies fire away it's a free country and FC does sometimes come across charming on talk shows but I just don't get all the drooling. Then againi don't get the Tom Cruse, Dr. Dreamy routine either.
Diane
"The passion she had for Fer before, she would have had no doubt, also with Aldo; "
I read that as she would have had passion with Aldo...
100% agree that Aldo is the safe easy route.
Workday just flies by with the Internet. Goin' home now.
It seems the more I find out about the real life of the characters I love I am very disappointed.
I want Jaime to be Fern, Angelica to be Lety, Colunga to be Luis, and Johnny Depp to be Capt. Jack.
I suppose that's why I find the fantasy of television and movies so much fun, it has nothing at all the do with real life and all it's challenges.
Carrie L.
Anya, the reason why I don't like Lety at the moment is because I believe that Fernando has suffered more than she has. He has lost his honor, his title, his company, and his relationship with Lety. She, on the other hand, has to make a decision between him and Aldo. Also, I can't forget his wanting to die in a bar in Alcapulco when she was dining with Aldo. He is trying to change so that he can win everything back. It has to be very humiliating for him to use the cave as his office. I don't understand why Lety can't see the sacrifices that he is making. Lety isn't has innocent as she pretends to be. Her role as Aurora is deceptive.
Just a thought on age differences for all of you who commented on Jaime Camil's SO....my precious husband is 15 years older than I am. After two marriages to abusive men, my husband of 18 years is truly the joy of my life. I really do not notice the age difference and have never thought much about it. Of course, he and I met when I was 36 and he was 51; both had been married previously. He and I are in the same profession, though he is semi-retired at 71. Another couple I know is equally content with the same age difference. Still, it's about the people, not the age.
Jeanne
I bet though it's not just the men you found, but more that YOU were different when you married at 36 instead of 20 something, so I'm willing to bet the age of the man didn't really factor in that much, which is sort of my point here.
Not that I am the measure of all, but if I married what I was into at 22? Ouch. Also, whoever married me at 22 would have been in for it too, because they might not like me anymore either. I am not even close to the same person. Obviously some people can do it, and have been married and have grown together for 70 years, but really anyone that meets that criteria now, would have married in a simpler time (70 years agao) when women had less power overall. And let's face it, most of those couples also weren't international celebrities with associated fast track, demanding, and in your face social lives, like our pair here.
Also, men overall have shorter lifespans, and I'm too selfish. So couple that with being a lot younger and I don't want to have to go on for 25 years after my wonderful husband dies, like my poor grandmother did, or have kids who didn't get to enjoy their father very long because they were so young when he passed, like my Dad. It's not the worst thing of course, but it's all just very depressing to me, and I've seen what several widows go through to survive, so in a perfect world I advocate avoiding it as much as possible.
