La Fea Más Bella #255 4/17/07 Aurora [au·RO·ra] noun - 1. the dawn; 2. the ancient Roman goddess of the dawn.
Fern tells Omar he should have let Fern kill Luigi. Omar reasons that yes, Luigi is vain and deserves to be thrown out on his flaming butt, but it doesn’t change the fact he is a creative genius and therefore Conceptos needs him. Fern changes the subject and says now they need to figure out how to save company from Aldo. Omar doesn’t have time for this because he’s in love. Fern says that can’t be because that emotion is non-existent for Omar. Just then Caro calls Omar. He talks to her and then excitedly tells Fern that Caro did it; she got Omar a date with Aurora! He gets up to leave. Fern reminds him that they were about to do some brainstorming (which he says in English and sounds like “BREINSTOURRRMEEN” -- too sexy!).
Alicia brings Ariel the financial statements he asked for but they turn out to be last year’s statements. He really lays into her. He grabs her face and calls her “useless as always.” Alicia says she’s just out of practice. Then she says that the cuartel’s stupidity must have rubbed off on her. Ariel steps back and says if stupidity is contagious, then he better stay away from her. He snaps his fingers at her and screams at her to get out of here before she contaminates the rest of the company. Alicia is impactada.
In Ferns’ office, Fern asks Tomas for the low-down on Aldo’s intentions. Tomas has no news. Fern asks why Tom went all the way to Acapulco only to return empty-handed. Tom dials Aldo’s number and hands the phone to Fern. Fern hesitates, obviously not excited about having to talk to Aldo, but he is saved, as they only reach Aldo’s voice mail. Lety comes in. Tomas wants to tell her about his talk with Aldo, but Fern kicks him out of the office to be alone with Lety.
Alicia walks into the vortex sobbing. Marcia asks what wrong. She tells Marcia that Ariel fired her. [I felt really sorry for Alicia about now, but that immediately disappeared when--] She adds that when Ariel realized she is more intelligent than him, he got jealous and decided to get rid of her. Marcia says she’ll go talk to him. Alicia asks her to tell Ariel that because of him, she will be left desamparada (abandoned; left without anything). Marcia rolls -- but does not blink-- her eyes.
Back in Fern’s office, Fern tells Lety that he knows he promised to give her space, but he is wondering whether Lety has made a decision about the whole Fern/Aldo thing. He is very nervous and stumbles over the right words. Lety tells him that she has not decided, as she has been very busy and has many things preoccupying her brain. She looks at watch, prompting Fern to ask if she’s in a hurry. She replies that she is, actually; she has to take care of something personal. She leaves and Fern looks on dreamily. He remarks “tan divina!” just the way Lety used to remark about Fern.
Marcia asks Ariel what his deal is. Ariel says he is simply trying to help the company. He goes on about how he is the only one left who can save it. He says he needs her support, and asks if she, his own sister, will, for the first time ever, support him? Marcia contemplates this. She wonders if maybe Ariel is right. After all, Fern has betrayed her so many times and in so many ways. [At this point, Ariel should have rubbed his hands together and snickered evilly… but alas, no].
Marcia goes to see Fern. She asks Fern is he has learned anything new about Aldo, which of course he hasn’t. Fern speculates that Aldo is not in Acapulco being a great chef but rather shaking his belly for a buck. He makes a face and shakes his belly to demonstrate [pause; rewind; play]. Marcia nonchalantly asks where Lety is. She barely waits for him to answer before she spits out that she overheard Lety making a date with Omar. Fern bursts out laughing. He laughs straight through the commercial break! After the break, he asks to smell her breath and asks if she’s been drinking. He clarifies that that’s not possible, and besides, Omar actually has a date with a woman he met last night. Marcia says she heard Lety making the date herself. She adds that if Lety she claims to be in love with Fern and Aldo at the same time, maybe two men are enough and now she wants Omar, too. She leaves and Fern thinks aloud that Lety would never do something like that.
Luigi is in his office packing and whining to Amrita. He says it’s always the same story— the administrators against the creatives. The suits always want things to be bueno bonito y barato (often-used saying which defines the best bargain: “good, pretty, and cheap”). He picks up his box and starts to walk out. Irmita calls his bluff and bids him farewell. He promises he’s leaving in about five different ways. He walks out and then walks back in, saying he’s waiting for the elevator. Just then Alicia comes in bawling. She asks if she can live with him. He retorts that his religion doesn’t permit it. Besides, La Diva’s room is too small for the both of them (Alicia and Diva). Alicia recounts how Ariel fired her. Luigi bluntly spells out for Alicia all the reasons why she has no business being an administrative assistant, especially a presidential one. Irma hand signals to him something like “shut up, stupid!” except it’s Irmita, so she probably was signaling “if you can’t say something nice…” Alicia calls the kettle black… that is, she asks Luigi, “What are friends like you good for?” After she leaves, Irmita asks Luigi if staying after all. Luigi responds that he is mean, but not cruel-- Conceptos really needs him now!
Lety walks with Caro down the street and whines about how it’s raining men in Letyland. Caro tells her to take it easy. Lety does a double take and says she could swear she just saw. Caro thinks it’s her imagination. Of course, it’s not her imagination, because Fern has been following them and is presently hiding behind a bush.
Omar sweet talks to the picture of Aurora in the newspaper. He practices his pick up lines-- you guessed it -- at the bar in his apartment! He leans on a stool and comes up with this gem: “Aurora, for you I would be willing to put my foot in a bucket full of scorpions!” Ha!!!
Fern follows Lety and Caro into a building. He asks a very nice, professional-looking, older woman inside if she saw two women walk in; one is a tall, slender, beautiful woman and the other one... the other one… has glass and a braid. She confirms they are meeting with Manuel Rivera in his studio. Fern responds that, oh yes, Manuel is a good friend of his. He says he hasn’t seen Manuel in long time and wonders what does he do now? She replies that he is an image designer.
Manuel shows the women a fuchsia dress that he claims Salma Hayek has worn. Lety loves it but thinks its too provocative. Caro reminds her of her objective to get the earring back from Omar. He shows them a red dress which he says he doesn’t need and she can even use his Gustavo Vera jewelry. [He motions to the jewelry in a Vanna White style which make me wonder if it’s a product placement, but I couldn’t find anything abut it on the ‘net].
Fern is still talking to the woman. He thinks Lety wants to see the image consultant guy to get gussied up for the other man (a.k.a. Aldo). The woman is concerned. She asks if his mujer is cheating on him. Fern milks the motherly attention. He complains that yes, she is, and that aren’t all women like that?
Alicia arrives at home, still sobbing. There is a knock on her door. It’s a debt collector with a gang of repo-men. They begin to take all her furniture as she races around hysterically. She jumps on the couch to protest but when they pick it up she jumps off.
Fern tells his new surrogate mom that “the other one” wants to take Lety away form him. She responds “Que bruto!” (What a brute) he is for handing Lety over to his rival on a silver platter—no, a gold platter! Caro walks in and is surprised to see him. She asks loudly “What are you doing here?” so that Lety can hear. Lety comes in and backs back out, so Fern does not see her in the Aurora getup. He admits that he thought he saw her with Lety. Caro says that Lety is not here, as she has a very important appointment tonight.
Lety waits for the coast to clear. This red dress is much more flattering than the green one. She’s a goddess. She admires Aurora in the mirror and though bubbles that it’s divine that Fern is following her. [Gotta admit, if one must have a stalker, it might as well be a hunka-hunka burning love like Fern.]
Aurora walks into The Delights restaurant. Omar, appropriately, is delighted at the sight of her. He spews some crappy pseudo-prose that Lety doesn’t buy for a second. He adds that she provokes the poet he carries inside. The repulsion makes her twitch when he’s not looking. He says she is the sun that lights up his life [get it? Aurora = the dawn! Ha!]
Fern walks in looking for Lety. He hides when he sees Omar (with Aurora) at a table. Aurora asks Omar for the earring. Omar agrees to give it back if she gives him a kiss first. Aurora says sure, but only one. He closes his eyes and bends toward her. She makes a sad, sad Lety face like a kid who has to take a spoonful of fish oil. Aurora says she want the earring first. He gives it to her and leans in again for his kiss with his eyes closed. She takes off her long red satin glove and slaps him with it. He is mildly impactado. She explains that that is her way of kissing.
Fern can’t contain himself and bursts out laughing. Lety is also impactada when she recognizes Fern’s voice behind her. Omar runs over to him and they squabble. He asks to be introduced to her, but Omar refuses. Fern is not impressed by her name, “Aurora.” Omar asks if he prefers a name like “Jessica” (he puffs his chest out like Jessica Rabbit). Fern thinks “Leticia” is a much better name. They continue to argue. Omar turns around and Aurora is gone. The waiter says she ran out. Meanwhile, some guys with camera are really mad that they didn’t get a picture of the Mystery Woman before she left. They are afraid they will get fired for not getting a photo. They catch up to her near the door and try to take a pic but Lety hides her face and runs off. Fern and Omar runs in looking for her. The paparazzi guys ask F&O who the mysterious woman is. Fern says if they want to see a really beauty, they should see Leticia Padilla Solis. Omar runs out of the restaurant, and just misses Aurora, who speeds off in a cab. F&O accept defeat and pose for the paparazzi guys again.
Alicia stands in an empty apartment, holding a glass coffee pot, still sobbing. The moving men try to take the pot and she refuses to give it to them, saying it’s the only memento of she has left of her ex-husband. Just then her dad calls [with all her money troubles, why hasn’t the phone company shut off her phone service? And why didn’t the repo men take that halfway decent cordless phone?] She tells dad all about her woes. She says that she knows he can’t do anything for her [A commenter previously wrote her dad must be in jail… that is starting to sound like the best explanation here]. She bemoans about being left in the street. She hangs up and the debt collector tells her she needs to leave we have to lock up the apartment.
At a bar, Fern tells Omar that Mujer Misteriosa sounds like a name for a luchador [Mexican wrestlers always have cool names like “El Santo” or as Duelo fans know, “Intocable”]. Anyway... Omar is despondent over striking out with Aurora. He wonders if she is playing hard-to-get. Fern tries to cheer Omar up. He says he’s sure Omar will run into her again. More than anything, Fern is just happy Lety was not with Omar. He throws peanuts covered in chile powder for Omar to catch in his mouth [yum!].
Lety calls Caro from cab to advise she got earring back.
Alicia bangs on Marcia’s door, but there is no answer. It turns out the repo-men didn’t really take everything, because she has lots of luggage.
Marcia is having dinner with Ariel, Humbo, and Bozo-T. He says his first task as president is to take care of the intruders. Humbo thinks he should get Aldo's story first. Marcia says she wants to get rid of Lety, who is now trying to lasso three men, though she refuses to give them details. Ariel asks for their support and they look apprehensive [note to director: insert evil giggling and hand wringing by Ariel here, please].
Omar tells Fern Aldo must have bough the company to conquer Lety. They throw more peanuts at each other. [It’s so great to see them together again!]
Lety is walking home in her Aurora get-up when she runs into Robopop. He stops her to asks what she is doing out so late by herself.
Tomorrow -- The jig is up, si?

How can ariel decide he is pres and sit in lety's seat and not get out of it when she comes in???
I know it seems implausible that people don't recognize Lety but it does happen. I saw a woman I have known for years last night and she asked if I was related to myself? I thought she was joking at first, but she was serious. The same thing happened with another woman not recognizing me recently. Both of them had to ask if that was really me. I've lost weight, let my hair grow out, started wearing makeup and different clothes, etc., but I don't think I have changed so much that people wouldn't know me. Now the Lety to Aurora change is a total change so that is absolutely plausible that no one knows who she is. Particularly if Lety is acting different also. I have changed my looks but nowhere near as drastic as Lety. I would think after she talks a bit they would know her though.
Fern and Omar throwing peanuts looked like they had lots of practice doing this.
Alicia on the streets means Tomas better watch out, he's the only game in town.
Lety glove-slapping Omar--very clever, Lety. Way to avoid having to kiss that pig.
Robopop addressed Lety as senorita when they met--I couldn't tell if he recognized her or not.
Fernando up to his usual tricks, lurking in the bushes, behind chairs. I really liked his tie. (gold/brown stripes) It was conservative and elegant, reminded me of an expensive box of chocolates. Sort of like Fern, that sweet bonbon.
Lety slapping Omar with the glove was the best laugh I've had since Ariel lost his job. Well... actually, I still think Ariel losing his job was a little funnier. I still laugh whenever I think about it. I know he's still getting his stipends from Conceptos, but that's really the only thing that's keeping him from the same fate as Alicia, as far as I know.
Hahahahahaha!!!
I still have my doubts about Alicia's father being in jail, because sometimes she calls him. A person who's in jail can make collect calls or card calls, but he can't make toll calls, and he certainly can't receive calls. I figure either he's very sick, or very far away.
Or - as I've suggested before - he's perfectly healthy and well, but he dislikes Alicia a lot, and it amuses him to hear of her problems. (THat's the impression I got when he was trying to get her to sell her mother's jewelry.) She's too dumb to realize he's making fun of her.
I think Ariel and Marcia really look like they could be siblings.
I say let Ariel stay in Lety’s office long enough to get rid of the lady parts seashell of doom picture.
Loved Fern’s reaction to Marcia telling what she overheard.
Teresa
Looks like it will be time for Alicia to go crawling to Tomas. What other options does she have? Marcia certainly wasn't jumping to help her.
Leticia did look beautiful in that red dress. Even though she was dressed to be at the Premios, I can only imagine how good she will look when they finally tone it down a little and put her in some smart everyday business and evening attire. I say her face is beautiful!
I also am no longer feeling compassion for Marcia. How quickly she falls in with her evil brother Ariel. I can see them both at the end, out with nothing.
Patrick
The "glove kiss' absolutely hilarious as was Fern's laughing at Marcia's suggestion that Lety was after Omar. To say nothing of Omar's dress rehearsing his lines.
I too think that Robopop is just being gentlemanly wondering why the senorita is on the street alone at night.
Another day with a minimum of the cuartel and Tomas - my ears are going to heal after all if this keeps up. And no Aldo!
I have to admit I really felt sorry for Alicia. She brings it on herself but Patty does a nice job of really making you feel her pain. I'e become increasingly interested in hoping they give us some back story on her.
Roseanna
Of course, Fer stole show. It's like the klieg lights come on when he's in a scene. (Sigh).
His range of expressions in the sytlist's reception area was so much fun. He went from frantic to serious, to looking like a little boy, putting on a semi-puppy face to get sympathy & info from the woman...then he looked a little freaked out when she had her hand on his lapel, trying to calm him down. What an ego he still has! I didn't at all think she was coming on to him; she reminded me of Irmita.
Loved the peanut scene.
A day without Aldo - magnifico!
Lety seems to be very happy about/with/around Fernando - even if she hasn't made her decision.
I wish they would just elope already!
It's been a whole year. Now she feels like everyone else has let her down and Ariel is the only person left. He puts on the puppydog eyes (they look like snake eyes to us, but Marcia's used to them) and she can't say no.
I don't know what will happen if Humbo and Bozo give Ariel their support as president. I don't think he can legally sell the company out from under Aldo, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't try. Maybe at this point, Humbo is so sick of all of this he wouldn't even mind. I know I'm sort of getting to that point, myself. :)
Do they even care?
Didn't Robopapa tell Humb that Lety would stay and finish the job?
Why would Ariel come in and assume the presidency under those conditions and no one would correct him????
On another note when I was flipping channels this morning I saw an older soap type show called Las Vias del Amor. It had a younger, thinner, dark haired Alicia, Irmita's old dead husband as an executive, and Daniela Roma (Fern's mother from Alborada).
Alicia was screaming because a rattlesnake had gotten into her apartment (I think) and bitten her on the ankle. A young boyfriend was carrying her around and cutting open the bite and sucking the poison out. ugh!
Daniela was having her cook/maid smashing pills and putting them into another woman's drink to knock her out.
It was very funny to see these actors as they looked maybe at least 10 years ago? The info on my satellite didn't give a date for the show.
Carrie L.
Why Ariel would assume the presidency: because he is arrogant and desperate. Why people are letting him: I guess because until they hear from Aldo, it's really not clear what anyone is supposed to be doing.
I'm sure Aldo wouldn't be in favor of leaving Ariel in charge, but he has yet to pick up a phone, show up, or otherwise show some interest in what's going on at Conceptos.
If Aldo won't say what he wants, then the majority shareholders (the Mendiolas and the Villaroels) have to decide for themselves. Which is why Ariel is so keen to get the Mendiolas' support. Aldo can still show up and squash the whole thing at any moment, but until then, Ariel's not going to squander his once-in-a-lifetime chance to sit in the big chair.
I don't know if its the dress that makes her look like a madam so much as the oversized fur. I'm still having a heck of a time trying to figure out what time of the year it is supposed to be. When Fern was in NYC the inference was that it was at least fall because he was cold and the cuartel was bundled up in coats and the other day it looked like Tomy and Ali where having a conversation in what looked like a partially decorated Christmas tree. On the other hand why do I care what time it is since i just want there to be some happiness for anybody at this point.
Some pants and a top. In any event it was nice to see that for once in a novela when someone moved out of a house/aprtment they actually had more than one suitcase. Usually when they pack up all their worldly goods to disappear into the sunset they have a suitcase the size I use for a weekend never mind that for months they have worn a different set of clothes every day. LOL
Angel
If Ariel is not, in fact, the president of Conceptos, how can Alicia's firing be final? I feel sorry for Alicia, but she reminds me of the saying "Quien sabe que no sabe, algo sabe." (He who knows he knows nothing, knows something.) Alicia hasn't a clue, pobrecita.
But, I hope Ferni figures it out first! I can't wait to see the looks on everyones faces. Todos van a estar muy pero muy impactados!
This two are devine...hot$&%.Fernando telling the reporter the most beautiful woman i Lety Solis was so cute
I know we have discussed this before but this morning i heard on the radio station (102 PEPITO FM HOUSTON)that Jaime Camil was getting married next year any ideas to whom he's getting married to coz i seriously thing Jaime and Angelica make a good couple mucho chemistry
