Destilando 11/26/07 "The Bichie is Back"

Well fans of Destilando…this is going to be short and fast. I have to be at the airport at 6:00am, so feel free to add any fun facts I may skip over.

The show begins with a replay of Sofie’s mia culpa..Jose & Isa getting the news that Frankie is dead.

Now in a moment of family bonding that would make Dr. Phil “Family First”, wipe a tear from his eye; Isa & Jose join together to go retrieve the charred remains of Frankie and give him a fine decent Christian burial. Isa isn’t doing it for the RatBastard Sperm donor, but for the Grandmother of lil BigHeadedNotRod’sBaby. The cynic in me says..yeah and for the rent free living quarters. I am sure that is just me as the show is ending soon and we don’t have time for Isa to pull anything at this point, so I guess we will just go with Isa now realizes there is more to life than jewelry, servants, fast cars and hawt boytoys. A lesson I will be certain to keep in mind should I win the lottery…. or not.

Dani & Elvis are sitting on the floor of Pilar’s house. Dani laments the bad luck the family is having. Elvis is the man with the plan, he tells Dani come on, Elvis is going to help them. Awesome I think to myself, maybe he is gonna go all 70’s James Brown Gangster on Aaron’s Ass.

Minnie is at home talking to Fredra.
I must insert here that I have noticed Fredra has been dressing all English, ruffles and jackets as of late, Que the Hell? She has really gone all Camilla Bowles. Minnie tells Fedra that Isa played hide the salami with Aaron. Fedra does her usual fake look of surprise. Minnie is all, don’t pull that with me, I know you know everything Aaron does. Fedra tries to look innocent. Minnie goes on to bring up the whole Pammy incident. Minnie tells Fedra, “I will tell you exactly what I told Aaron, one more indiscretion and I will take this little Varron I’m packing and its off to Spain. The kid will come back to be the rightful owner to the entire fortune.” Fedra is Muy Impacted.
----Minnie is unaware that the fortune is now down to some bad Tequila and some Agave putrefying in the warm sun of Jalisco.

Aaron & Bruno are having ugly words over the Rod situation, Bruno says the only reason Rod is in jail is cause he tried to protect Gavi, but Bruno isn’t accusing Gavi he is just telling Aaron that he isn’t going with Aaron’s whole story.

Aaron has one of his snorting coke fits. Aaron yells at Margarita, he wants Quintana to have the financial records by 11:00. Aaron is acting all crackwhore in front of newchick, I think she is the new secretary who will replace Margarita. This newchick looks like she wants to rethink her employment options.

Pilar & Videgaray are having a sit down with Av*, they fill him in on the whole “Rod confesses to anything and everything”, this was done to protect MariAnne Franco (Gavi), I can see Av’s jaw clench. For the love of Gawd, he must gnash his teeth and pull at his remaining hair every time her name is mentioned. Well Gavi can’t know that Rod is in jail or why. Shhh it is a big secret, she will return. Rod is going to work this out, soon, real soon. Av* says he will do everything he can to keep her in England, but if the authorities want to talk to her, she will return to England. Pilar continues with the not that I really love Rod more, but Aaron seems to be the RatBastard behind the whole thing.

Now flash to merry ol England. Gavi and her newboss are talking about Tequila, Gavi spouts some brown-nosing Tequila fun facts. Newboss has that glazed eye expression, we have all known and come to love. It is the El KaBong look, if this was a cartoon the men would have *’s instead of eyes meaning they were totally overwhelmed by Gavi’s Gaviness. However, even though he has * eyes, alas he does not have time to act this as the show is ending.

Now flash to Rod, he is sitting in the prison playground. Behind Rod we see other prisoners doing that scene from the 'Código Postal' commercial where all the cool kids play volleyball, only these guys are wearing prison khakis instead of thongs. Rod always the loner is sitting with a tear running down his cheek thinking of Gavi. OMG can you believe it? Gavi is sitting at her new job thinking of Rod, with teary eyes.

Back at Pilar’s it appears there is an exorcism going on. This is so Naco, as if Pilar would allow bad spirits in her house; that is just so common. The guy is Elvis’s uncle and he has the smoking incense, the herbs and so on. He is singing a song that the words “Baba Lu” are often repeated. Here is a link to the whole BabaLu thing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babalu

Personally I think the James Brown Gangster treatment would have gotten better results. Pilar comes home and the three (Tio, Elvis and Dani) are walking around casting out evil. Pilar starts to put up a protest, but I think she is loosing the will to berate underlings.

Over at LaCoca central, Aaron comes out of his office, it is 11:00 and where the hell is Quintana? Quintana comes running up with two big 3inch binders. Aaron jerks one out his hands and walks off. Quintana gives the other to Margarita, it is the copy of the financial records that Dani requested.

Aaron & Soto are looking over his records. Soto says they are clean. He asks Aaron if anyone else could have any knowledge of Aaron’s illegal dealings? No no one. Aaron says Fedra & Minnie don’t know. Then he remembers Pammie and the USB theft. Aaron does one of his trying to swallow a huge fur ball fits. Aaron has NewChick call Pammie. Pammie is lying on the couch, Pammie’s Ma comes in. The phone is ringing and ringing. Poor Ma thinks Pammie is having another episode. No, Pammie is just lying on the couch in the same position she has been in for the past two years. Move on. Finally Pammie answers the phone. She tells NewChick that Pammie is on a vacation and won't be back for a month. She hangs up and tells her mother. Pammie knows Aaron is worried about the USB, she knows it is a result of her father going to the CRT about Aaron’s business dealings.

Dani & Vigaray to see Rod in jail. Geez he has been in the slammer like two days and it doesn’t seem to me he is doing much to pay his debt to society. I mean I know he is innocent, but dude did cop a plea. Anyway, Av* calls Videgaray and he steps away to take the call. Dani finds out the romance killing lies that Rod told Gavi. Once again, Dani laments Rod’s stupidity. Hey it will be okay cause they are going to prove his innocence then it will be all sunshine and smooth pavement back to Gavi.

Pammies Pa is talking to Av*, the talk is about Pammie testifying to Aaron’s bad business dealings. Alas laments Pa, if only we knew the password.

Pammie is playing with the USB, she gets a text mail from Aaron. He signs it Biche. The light goes on. She plugs in the USB and types in Biche…No Access, she types in Bichito and the files part in an act of heavenly retribution that hasn’t been seen since Moses parted the Red Seas. Bichito, can you believe it? I would have bet my life on the Spanish version of “Big Swinging D*ck”, this was the big term used during all the 80’s insider trading. Anyway of course it is now a shout out to Elton John & Cosmic Justice with a few lines from..

The Bitch is Back

I was justified when I was five
Raising cane, I spit in your eye
Times are changing, now the poor get fat
But the fevers gonna catch you when the bitch gets back

Feeling warm Aaron? Cause the fever is coming

Meanwhile, we get a couple of outside shots of downtown Madrid, it is night and there really aren’t many cars on the road.
---Readers, I recently heard on NPR that Spain has the highest consumption of cocaine per capita of any country in the world, and even without the cocaine, Madrid is like a bustling metropolis. Now that Dr Blando has arrived, well things just seem a bit depressed, people just sit around with the drapes drawn contemplating the emptiness of existence. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
Av* has called Blando and tells him he needs to go to London. Blando guarding his heart, queries “Is Rod with Gavi?” “No”, Av* answers, “Gavi is alone”. Blando has that same look on his face that “The Beaver” used to get every time Miss Landers was nice to him. Av* hangs up and shakes his head while thing of people and their illusions.

Now over in Tequila, the rapidly expanding SanWanna runs into Carmelo on the street. She is looking quite pregnant. Carmelo offers to marry her and give the baby a father. SanWanna hugs him and thanks him and gives him the generic, it’s me not you and someday you’ll meet a wonderful girl who deserves you and have awesome kids. Crispin watches from across the street and writes it all down. I am amazed, not that the old gossip is eavesdropping, but that he is sober enough to write.

Sofie is talking to Ofelia, she tells her that she believes Hil is the father of the kid and after all Ofelia and Roman are the grandparents and how you can’t turn your back. Ofelia goes to make Tamales. I guess we are supposed to “Like” Sofie now that she is reformed. I say bah to that. Sofies little ray of sunshine is soon banished as here come the bankers, they are wanting to see the records. I am not sure, but I’m thinking liquidation of all things Hacienda may soon be in order.

Now back to England. NewBoss is on the phone with Av*, he talks to Gavi. Av* tells her that he has heard great things about her work. (seriously, this just makes me feel my own position in life of a “Source of Constant Disappointment”, that much more deeply). Gavi has been on the job like one day and already she is the shining star. Gavi with out coming out and asking is like, so how’s thing in Mexico? Meaning has Rod been looking for me? Av* answers nothing new, everything is fine, but he is very unconvincing.

On over to Gavi’s new digs. Clarita & Gavi are chatting it up when there is a knock at the door. Clarita answers the door and all she can say is yes to any question. Gavi comes over and the man introduces himself as Thomas. He is the hotel guy that will help them and keep an eye on things. Clarita is kinda flirting with him, then Gavi has to translate. Gavi does a fine job, being that she has that quickie course taught by the nuns those four long years ago. Thomas promises to keep an eye on Clarita. Gavi teases Clarita about Thomas and clearly Clarita is feeling feelings she hasn’t felt since she sucked in dust trailing after Don Amador as she walked while he rode a fine horse back in the salad days on the Hacienda.

Flash to Rod in prison shirtless and doing push ups, Rod is not suffering from the high carb prison diet. As he does his pushups you can see a half shoe on the upper bunk on the right side. That is either his new bunk buddy or the case of his missing Zappatos has just been solved.

Another knock at the door..Gavi answers and who is standing at the threshold? None other than Dr Blandie. Gavi is almost as Muy Impacted as I am.

Kids let this be a lesson to you…like an STD, Dr Blandie comes back. Take all that medication and stamp it out in the beginning, don’t let yourself be surprised by a knock on the door.

Looks like there were previews for tommorrow nite…
Seems like Clarita is trying to get Thomas drunk on Tequila. Now all she needs is a big tree.
Like daughter like mother.

Hilarious recap. The soap is ending- so sad. Can't wait to see the ending BTW - D__m! that baby got a BIg head!

Thank you Beckster, that was indeed a good recap. And yeah, I was also wondering about that partial shoe on the bunk. Thought maybe one of the guards was holding down the knees of the sit-upping Rodrigo with the other shoe? I also liked the very orderly and clean looking prison exercise group. Kind of looked like volleyball team warm up in safari clothes.

Maybe the baby's big head comes from his Abuelita Jose, who seems to have a large head, too. The transformative epiphany of Isadora is really interesting to watch.

Hilarious -- El Kabong Look of newboss -- yes, it was definitely the head konk start of something new yet so familiar... and totally funny that Dr. Blondie returns -- with his own El Kabong look and head in the clouds.

Looking forward to the last drops of destilando amor -- salud! Hope they hurry up with the dvds for sale, so we can watch the ones we missed.

Beckster, How do you do it so quickly and always with so much humor and bemused rancor thrown in. Your detailed recall of old time TV and music lyrics is equally awesome.
Not only is Isa getting a soft spot bigger than BIGHEADBaby's but Sofie is cute looking and San Juanna is softening her shrill giddiness that was so annnoying to hear. She actually was sweet to Carmelo and seemed to appreciate his generous gesture. She refrained from insulting anyone tonight.
Rodrigo has got one of the most handsome faces on screen. These through the bar shots make me wish I had taped it tonight. Instead, I have just ordered several movies IMDB lists him in from Netflix so I can see how cute he is up against Travolta and Demi Moore, et.al. in films.

no no Beckie, *I* am the source of constant disappointment! (My dad told me once: "If I'd known how you were going to turn out, I never would have sent you to college.") *You* are a source of never-ending amusement. I wish you lived next door.

Beckster: As usual, you will have me lauphing all day long. I even think of your comments when I am driving home. I can lol since I'm in the car by myself.

From lower Ala

Can you believe Dona Pilar and the comment about "are they taking the furniture?" I think she has more to worry about than the furniture. What a snob, OMG!

I believe Assron is finally going to get what he is due.

I truly wish Mr. UnibrowIhavenoyouknowwhatspatricio will be a man and tell the truth. Besides... what has Assron done for him anyways.
Happy to see Isa do the right thing.

I missed the episode on Friday.. was Mr. Full of Crap Pancho's accident shown? What happened?

I don't think all the crying Rod is doing in prison is a good idea.. afterall these inmates have not been with women in a while.. Rod is sure to get it where the sun don't shine since he is very much in touch with his girly sensitive side.

Thanks for the recap, as usual I had a good laugh so early in the A.M.

JAX

Nothing like being way down on your luck to give a woman (Issy) a wake-up call & a little humility..The boyfriend was fried in a head-on collision, money extorted from the Montalvos has dried up,the car given to you by the ex-husband (Rodrigo) is now flatter than a pancake.Lo and behold, you've been taken in by a "real woman" Jose..Can't get any better than that.

Working for a living is just around the corner. Isadora could go to work at the hotel where Gavi worked, when she & Clarita carrying one suitcase, rode into Mexico City on a bus.

The manager of the hotel proposed to Gavi on her first day at work, maybe it will be Isadora's lucky day--another man to take care of her and baby Ricky? However,Rod has a very kind heart and loves Ricky,so he will care for the baby, even though,it's not his..

Dear Constant Source of Delight^^^I hope that you win the lottery and get to try your luck at chasing Isadora's shattered dreams ! You deserve a reward for your consistently excellent , deliciously funny recaps . That was great ! I could so be Rod's BFF in prison...we could be cell/soulmates..because I hate volleyball, too!! Thanks so much for being my constant source of morning giggles....bwaahhaabaw...Dr. Blandie will be playing the part of The Beaver in this episode...talk about persistent. He brings to mind the plantar's warts a contracted from the showerstall in the dorm. I had trouble making them go away, too.

Hilarious recap, Beckster. Loved the "ElKabong Look," such a true description of men's reactions to Gavi.
Elvis' uncle cleansing the house of bad luck was pretty good. Some stores here have the money house blessing spray on their shelves. Maybe I should buy a can and send to Pilar.
Was Gavi a little demanding in asking the concierge to watch over her mother all day? Aren't there other tenants in the building?
So happy that Pamela was able to rise from her bed of pain and suffering and make the mighty mental leap to the password. Bad times ahead for Aaron, good times for us.
La Paloma

I think Gaviota was letting the guy know he had an open invitation, just in case he got bored. And maybe she was tactfully trying to warn him that it'd be unwise to let Clarita leave the building unattended. ;)

What kind of accent was he supposed to have? He didn't speak Spanish, but that wasn't even a remotely English accent, either.

Romance for Clarita..He speaks no Spanish & she no English..They were so cute last night trying to communicate with Gavi, the translator..I see "love" here for Clarita in these final episodes..

BTW, I'm bummed that we're doing our last full recaps this week (well, my last was last week, but everyone else's is this week). :(

I know people will be recapping other things, but it won't be the same. This is the most fun I've ever had recapping, commenting on, or watching any telenovela, including LFMB.

Next week's tag-team recap ought to be fun, though. :-)

What a great and fast recap! It took my mind off the stress I'm under! It's great how now everything is happening and we aren't having to wait and wonder!

Isa is turning a new leaf, Sanjuana's pregnancy has mellowed her, and Sofie is too sweet! Oh, well!

Aaron cracks me up!! His expressions are so funny! Like he has several bees up his butt, or something! Can't wait for tonight's show!!!

I got confused after being away for 10 days. Supposidly Diego's mother is in the hospital with a heart attack. They say Clemi. In the hospital, it does not look like diego's mom??? Is it the mom or a friend/relative in there.

thank u for a delightful recap beckster!

i'm looking forward to recap tonight's episode. though i'm passionately waiting to see colunga's arms and abs in pasion, i have to admit i'll be a bit sad saying goodbye to destilando. what i'll miss the most is the famous 'big tree of love'. buhuuuu!!! (that means i'm crying)

I almost laughed my a** off at Gavi's new boss's stunned look. Must be that famous telenovela perfume that all protagonista's wear - the one where every man within breathing distance becomes a love struck fool. And OMG Dr. Blandie back in town - appears the shock actually made Gavi's hair almost go straight.

Simpering Clarita - very hard to take and did Gavi tell the guy to bring by a bottle every day or was I in a fog?

Come on Pammie let's get to the DF with that VERY incriminating flash drive and you can have your wish of seeing Aron fry on the hot seat.

Poor Dani when Rod confessed how he kept Gavi from staying with him. For a second I thought she was going to smack him up side the head a couple of times and call him a ginormous dolt. After everything she did to get them together he blows it in minutes.

Isa and Jose's little bonding scene was touching - hate her or not. She seems to have learned some very harsh lessons so I can see the two of them working hard and making a good life for BigHeadBaby. What ever her faults Isa has always seemed to love the baby.

As for SanJuana - good for her she also seems to have changed her ways and is determined to be a good single mother. Time will tell.

Anon, I think you've posted a comment for Amar on the wrong thread. You may have been confused by scenes of Inez at the clinic getting PT and Clemi.

I don't watch this novela regularly, just every so often and read the recaps. What was the deal with "bichito?" Doesn't that mean, "critter?"

Margaret--Pamela has a pet name for Aron--it is Bichi or Bichito.
and it does mean bug!

nancy

Before I comment – can anyone tell me what the best site is for buying novela DVDs? I want to ask for El Inutil for Christmas (only caught the end of it) and maybe Café con Aroma.. No subtitles will be a challenge, but I want to give it a go. Does anyone know if the DVDs have menus where you can pick your capitulo? I can’t imagine having to fast forward to get to where you want to go.

What a hilarious recap! You are a hoot, Beckster. My favorite part: the mood in Spain.

I noticed the concierge’s accent too. He sounded American. I would think the British would frown on an American concierge. Why, it’s just not cricket! I had the feeling that Gavi’s English was by rote and that the actress doesn’t speak English – anyone else think so?

I saw in the latest People en Espanol that the actor playing Aaron was voted best villain of 2007 – I think it was a reader poll (my Spanish is very iffy). Hooray for that – I think he’s terrific.

As for house blessings in a can – here in L.A. you can buy earthquake spray in a can. If an earthquake starts, you just spray it around, and the earthquake stops. Tell me that’s not magic!

I think Rod can cry in prison because he’s bigger than everyone else by a long shot. He could say “Can’t you see I need a hankie?” and inmates would go humbly scrambling to find one for him.

AFAIK most of these actors speak at least some English. Many spend a lot of time in the US. But I have to admit, her delivery was a bit stilted in that scene.

Does the CRT have no hot Rod in prison office gossip to Europe? Of course London and Madrid are quite small pueblos and perhaps the news just doesn't get across the pond very fast. Well I guess as long as Av and Pilar keep the secret ....

Beckster, your spin on this episode is hilarious. You make the serious look down-right NOT!!!!!
I'm so glad Aaron has given Pammie a reason to breathe, and not seize again. She looks absolutely perky and pepper-minty, and ready to stick it to him like fly paper! I can't wait till Aaron gets a snort of what Pammie's about to give him!

Minerva also needs to take a hit , and come down off that bee hive her butt is stuck to! She was dumb enough to marry Aaron the first time, and then take him back after Pammie! She knew exactly what she was getting, and now she wants to make threats if she doesn't get her way? Aaron is devious enough to switch her baby with someone else's bastard, and never give it a 2nd thought, and Minnie would never know the difference!

I don't know why they decided to bring in Dr. Blondie again? Are he and Rod the only games in town for Gaviota???????? I'd have thought that Dr. Blondie would have one of those hot, dark, well built Madrid beauties by now!!

Lisa from Alpena

Maggie~~~I agree that Gavi sounded as if she had learned her lines in English by rote. I teach English to a lot of Spanish-speaking people , and Gavi definitely sounded as if she had just memorized those lines phonetically without really understanding the words she was saying. She sounded like I do when I memorize something in Arabic and say it. I cannot read Arabic , so I write what I want to say phonetically and memorize it. To me, the concierge sounded like a Mexican trying to speak English with with he felt was an English accent. He sounded like my students.

Thank you for the hilarious recap and comments. I have so much fun reading what everyone has to say. Although, Pammie calls Aaron, Bichie, a more appropriate name is snake. He even has the eyes of a snake that is about to strike. He is very abusive to Rod's secretary, both physically and mentally. I hope that when he gets caught, the Montalvo security guards kick his sorry ass out the door.

Susanlynn - Interesting observation about the concierge. I'll give him a closer listen if he comes on again. Thanks!

Thank you all for your great recaps across all the show.
My son was killed back in April.
One nite I was here just doing nothing on the computadora, and by chance I came upon your web site.
I was following D.A.,
Thank you for bringing a smile to my face and then laugh out loud, in the darkest days of my life.

I don't know if it's "kosher" to bring up LFMB on this DA blog (i remember some past impactadidad --if such a word exists), but you can order the three DVDs through Netflix. They will be sending them out shortly. Also Jaime Camil's film can be ordered.

Great recap! And a great episode. Gavi's expression when she saw Alonso was priceless!!

Cecilia: So sorry for your loss. The recaps give me something to look forward to every day as I struggle with family problems. Hang in!!!

So -- did Minnie actually have a baby? I thought she & bad hubbie Aaron were faking it to keep their finger in the Montalvo inheritance pie? Or is she supposed to still be faking pregnancy? Everybody HAS to be hip to the ruse -- nobody seems to give a hoot if she drinks like a fish or stomps around in 6 inch heels or if Aaron slaps & pokes & pinches her. Can't imagine why she'd stay with that clown anyway. Besides no one can understand anything he says, it's all sputter sputter choke and rude comments with cheek pinching to boot. yuck.

Been wondering why she keeps on threatening to leave if he was unfaithful again -- when it is abundantly clear that already happened again.

I also thought concierge was speaking ESL -- and I thought maybe we're supposed to pretend he's Welsh? Can't imagine him head over heels for the icky Clarita In Love. He looks too sensible. Guess that bottle a day will help Clarita make the kill.

look forward to tonight's episode!

but what I rrreeally want to know is whether Minerrrva's little baby will be the son of a bitchi?

super recap.

Un abrazo para Cecilia-- que seas fuerte en estos momentos tan dificiles.

VV.

I really hope that Isa continues to be nice to Jose. Then I can adore her without feeling guilty...:)

Sending good vibrations to you ((((Cecilia))))) This is a great place to escape to for a little respite when reality is hard to deal with. My mother died the end of May. I hope that you join us on the pirate ship to ''Pasion'' which starts as soon as Destilando ends. Courage, amiga.^^^ Susanlynn, who also lost a son

Cecilia,
Condolences on the loss of your son. My husband lost his young daughter in a car accident. You can never forget but you can try to have a time away from reality. And these telenovelas can take you away for 6 months or so. Where else can you find such villians as Aaron and Francisco de la Vega, and such blockheads as Rod and most of the rest of the casts?, Such good fun.
