La Traicion, Mar 13 - Ester avoids a fall; Enrico finds a clue, Marina takes a ring and Beatriz takes a bullet

Fabio holds Hugo and Beatriz at gunpoint. He has decided that the brother with Beatriz is Alcides and Beatriz supports this interpretation. Since Beatriz is on good terms with this brother, Fabio concludes that Beatriz betrayed him with Alcides. Hugo doesn't seem to pick up on the parallels with his situation with Soledad. Fabio agrees to being paid off. Hugo goes off to get money and sneaks back in but Fabio gets the drop on him. There's a struggle and Beatriz gets shot.

Arturo is forcing Ester to jump off the high place but his men report that the police have surrounded the church. Then Gladis shows up and forces Arturo to let Ester go. Gladis warns Ester that if she rats Arturo out, her family will pay the price. Ester agrees.

Boris has led the police to the church. Arturo's men are arrested but there's no sign of Arturo or Ester. Suddenly Ester shows up but she declines to identify Arturo's men as her kidnappers and is as ungracious as ever. Inspector Duarte is suspicious but can do nothing.

At the Obregon house, Enrico gets a psychic flash that Ester is ok. Then he tells Soledad about the treasure clue. Soledad has no idea what the clue could mean until she remembers that Jeremias gave her a jewelry box. Another clue is in the box that Enrico interprets as referring to a painting at the Hacienda Montenegro. Poof, he disappears.

The police, Boris and Marina bring Ester home to much rejoicing from Soledad, Lucas and Ursula. Later, Boris and Marina sit down with Soledad to answer her questions about Hugo's death. Boris repeats the heart trouble story but he and Marina are hostile to Soledad about her rapid marriage to Alcides after Hugo's death. She is about to explain when, of course, Ester interrupts and throws Boris and Marina out. During the conversation, Marina took the opportunity to steal Soledad's engagement ring from Hugo. She tells herself that Soledad doesn't deserve to have it. After Boris and Marina leave, Ursula notices the theft but Soledad declines to notify the police.

Paquito decides that Arturo is an eligible matrimonial candidate for Eloisa. They go to the Linares house to see him. Arturo is attracted to Eloisa but Gladis is nasty to Paquito. Paquito suggests that he can help redeem Arturo's reputation by his journalism. At this point, the police come to address Arturo.

Los Burques decide to make another attempt to find Alcides' money at the Hacienda Montenegro. They find Enrico there but he isn't interested in their activities. They don't find any money but have fun dressing up in Hugo and Soledad's clothes. (Although Soledad is much taller than Helena, the skirts of her gown are not dragging on the grounds when Helena wears it.) Later, they find Enrico who is frustrated that he can't find the clue in the painting. He lets slip that he is looking for a treasure and Los Burques are immediately interested.

Jeremias gets a report that Enrico has been seen at the Hacienda Montenegro and he and Rebeca set out for there.

Beatriz is in the hospital. Hugo says that Beatriz shouldn't have risked her life for him and must survive because she is a 'grand mujer'. The doctor says that she lost a lot of blood and may have brain damage. However, the police show up and arrest Hugo.

The police declare that Alcides is dead and as his widow, Soledad is his heir. Angry townspeople to whom Alcides owed money converge on the Obregon house demanding money. Ester and Lucas try to talk to them but the crowd gets ugly and starts throwing stones and tomatoes.

Glad you mentioned that the ring was the engagement ring from Hugo-completely missed that, Jean. Thanks for the tip about the Telemundo website, Margarita. The recorder has failed me more than once.

Rebecca and Co. don't seem to be making any progress on the treasure. Two little brains aren't better than one small brain. Enrico is way ahead at the moment. But, he's run into the Burques and we know that's trouble.

The doc meant to say that Beatriz may suffer 'more' brain damage. At least she's out of the way for a while. It would've been great to get rid of Esther for longer than a few hours. She's so controling, I was pleased to see Soledad say something to Esther about her rude behavior with Boris and Marina. Marina taking that ring will put a wedge between her and Boris somewhere down the road...

I am so happy that I found your blog! I got hooked on this show at the second episode but I don't speak Spanish and have no CC3. Mostly, I can follow what's going on but your blog has filled me in on the sub-plots. Thank you so much! I was wondering if anyone knows if this will be released as a DVD when it ends--hopefully with subtitles? Again, thank you all!

Welcome Oriana: I'm glad you found us. This is a great novela. If you have any questions about what is going on, don't hesitate to ask.

As for a DVD of the series, Telemundo doesn't seem to do that the way Univision does but maybe they will for this one. I'm sure there will be the illegal copy DVD's available but they don't have subtitles.

LOL

Soledad scolds her mother after she lets her throw Boris & Marina out but she doesn't say, 'Hey ma, I'm having a private conversation with these people that is none of your business. Get out!"

Yes, I'm sure Enrico will rue the day he mentioned the word, "tesoro" in Helena's hearing.

I may have leapt to a conclusion about the ring. I watched it again and there is nothing that says that Hugo gave Soledad the ring that Marina stole. It was so unlike Marina to steal it though. It must mean something.

I completely forgot to mention in the Summary about how Enrico was able to tell judy by looking at Soledad that she had lost some memories. Enrico didn't pursue the matter but I suspect this won't be last we hear about it.

Thanks for the good summary, Jean.
I loved the look on Arturo's face when his mother arrived at the cliff to save Esther. We didn't have even one episode without Ester. Arturo has real problems with all his schemes, but I think his mother's involvement is going
to make things even worse for him.
Hugo doesn't come back to save Ester but has Boris do it for him. Meanwhile he has gotten himself embroiled in a situation with Beatriz that may put him in jail. What if he has an attack of catalepsy in jail? Where is Boris when he needs him? At the very end, in the promo for tonight, is Soledad trying to give Boris the inheritance from Alcides? Looks like it. In her conversation with Boris about Hugo's death, did she say she wanted to know who killed him? That's what I thought she said, but why does she think someone killed him. Alcides said he died of a heart attack. And Dr. Max erased her memories, so she is now saying he is dead. But who gave her the idea that someone killed Hugo?

I also think that Enrico's catching that Soledad is missing some memories is going to be important.

I noticed that too, Kay. I'm not home but Soledad said something like, "Quíen mató a Hugo?" (Who killed Hugo?) rather than "Cómo murió Hugo?" (How did Hugo die?). There was the carriage accident the night before the wedding, of course, but Alcides and Dr. Max made a big deal of telling everyone that Hugo had heart trouble. Maybe it was the business with Paquito trying to get Hugo exhumed that has her wondering about how Hugo died. She should have asked Marina, though. Boris wasn't there.

I can never hear what they say on the scenes from manana but I gather from TW that Soledad is giving the Hacienda to Boris. Nothing like giving away valuable real estate with a mob of Alcides' creditors at the door!

Oh yeah, after all his anguish about finding out that Soledad is pregnant and hearing Ester's lies, I think Hugo is due for a catalepsy attack too. He has no proof that he is the person he is claiming to be. Boris was supposed to get him papers. Suppose he has an attack in jail? Boris might get the "wind of Hugo being in trouble" again. ;-)

Hello Jean,

Thank YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, For the answers. Yes things are much more clear. I'm amazed at how much I had straight and equally amazed at how much I missed!! I can't understand the conversation, but can read Spanish - okay. I try to read the subtitles but they go by so fast I miss alot. If I pause them, they are covered by the word PAUSE - :-(. Your recaps help tremendously. And Boy - this show is GREAT!! Hope to get caught up soon. Things DO MOVE FAST on this show!!

Thanks Again,
Rhonda in Texas
