La Traición, Wed, 3-19 - Hugo takes a trip; Guillermo takes up the violin; Hercu-less takes a hike and Soledad takes 4 months of pregnancy

There's always that difficult time in a novela while we wait for the heroine to get through a pregnancy. We moved forward four months tonight and there are three to go.

Hugo is successful in avoiding coming into contact with Dr. Max. It turns out that Hugo can perform the Vulcan nerve pinch. He probably learned that in the Orient as well. Dr. Max is still convinced that Hugo is alive, though.

Beatriz gets left at the hospital with Dr. Pablo. He tells her that she must learn to live without Hugo. She tells the doctor Sebastian's true identity, though and the good doctor is puzzled since he heard that Hugo de Medina was rich and is dead.

It turns out that spirits who have returned from the dead don't necessarily have good memories. Jeremias leads Enrico up and down hills in search of the Orchid Vivantis. Enrico finally presents it to Soledad four months later with instructions to guard it with her life since she will find out later why it is so important.

Ursula knocks out Hercu-less to save Lucas. Rebeca is so annoyed with Hercu-less that she throws him out. Meanwhile, Rebeca is preparing for her spectacular. Guillermo Burke wants to go straight and settle down but Helena doesn't agree. A call for musicians for Rebeca's performance gives Guillermo a chance to dust off an old skill as a violinist and he gets the job as first violin in the orchestra! Meanwhile, Helena does not want to lose their cushy home and so she does almost nothing to notify people that it's for sale.

Lucas gives Soledad a diary to keep her occupied while she is stuck at home during her pregnancy. She writes down what Ursula tells her about what is going on in town which is how we know that Arturo is courting Eloisa and has ceased persecuting the Obregons. Soledad dreams about Hugo but he is sad in her dreams and she can't remember or draw Hugo's smile. Antonia says nasty things to Soledad about her and her baby.

Meanwhile Hugo, Boris & Marina go on a long trip to find Dr. von Sirac or Bonchirac or whatever. He turns out to be an old guy and definitely is not Ismael de la Rosa. He tells Hugo that he has discovered that a medicine can be made that lessens the effect of cataleptic attacks and this medicine is made from a rare orchid called the Orchid Vivantis! What a coincidence.

Tomorrow, Antonia destroys the miracle Orchid Vivantis - uh oh!! So much for Soledad guarding it with her life. It looks like it's back to the hills for Enrico.

Soledad gets a diary, eh? Usually diaries get used for or against someone in a novela. I wonder if Hugo might read it and finally believe Soledad? Probably wishful thinking :-)

Thanks Jean, you always clarify things for me. Also, the recap is good with oatmeal.

It's great that Guillermo is trying to leave his old life and perhaps his old wife too.

I've always wanted to learn that Vulcan shoulder pinch. That Hugo sure has all the tricks...

I too thank you Jean for your great recaps ---
I think the diary idea is to fill us in on everything that has gone on over the "lost" four months -- Soledad's reading through it with flashes is an effective way to move through time -
I feel so sorry for poor Lucas - seems like a really nice guy who has one witch for a sister and another for a wife --- I guess he's really a weak character but I kinda like him anyway --
Do we think that the kind doctor has eyes for Beatriz? - seems he did everything he could to squash the wedding idea and to keep her close - wonder how she will feel about being a nurse in his hospital--
This is certainly a 'thriller' with one thing happening after another -- I can't wait to see Rebecca's masked routine ---

Hi Molly: I wondered about Beatriz and Dr. Pablo too. There have been several mentions of the fact that Beatriz did some nursing during 'the war.' Beatriz mentioned nursing as a way to earn money when she and Fabio were broke and Hugo mentioned it to Dr. Pablo. I would guess that Dr. Pablo falls for Beatriz but she still carries a torch for Hugo. According to the cast summaries, she has some part to play in bringing Alcides to justice. At the very end, she will realize that she loves Pablo and go back to him. Remember, you read it here first.

I hope Beatriz is nice by that time, because I like Dr. Pablo...
