Cuidado con el Angel, October 1, 2008

We start off tonight with JM and Marichuy at the jail. She is begging JM to help her , he had promised to if she ever called. At the police desk, Padre Anselmo, Candie, and some other people (can't remember there names, but one claims to be her novio although not really) wants to find out what is going on. Marichuy is crying and JM tells her to calm down. "Are you going to help me?" she asks JM. She says that Patricio is upset with her. (no matter how much rewinding I do, I just couldn't understand so this is what I guessed she said.) Patricio says something about Marichuy breaking the windows in his house. JM gives her a look that says "Oh no you didn't!"
Back at the police desk, the policia/investigator/pencil pusher asks how can you be like her mother (Candie), her novio (don't know his name), her protector (Padre) her grandmother, and her friend and she says she has no one. Padre says that is what Marichuy thinks, but is not the case. Her novio asks the policia how much to release her and they all start talking at the same time.. He sushes them up and says that she stole leche from the neighbors in the hood.
JM asks Patricio "Are you saying that she broke various windows in your home?" Yes he answers and she broke them with rocks, then informs JM that he did not call the police. She did something else to warrent being arrested. Again we go back to the police desk and everyone is saying how kind and wonderful Marichuy is and that she has a good heart. Candie tells them that Marichuy confessed to her about stealing the leche for the orphans. They ask to speak to her and the policeman says no that she is being interviewed by the judge. Candie asks who is the judge. The policia informs her that it's Patricio and she tells Padre that Marichuy broke the judge's windows in his house. At Ceci's she is telling Estephania how happy she is to have gotten her back. JM asks the policeman what she is being accused of. He says that she stoled12 bottles of leche from various houses and the neighbors said that it was her. Patricio says that she probably sold it to make a quick buck. Candie yells out not true. The policia names that lady with the curlers as the main accuser. Estephania and Isabel admire the necklace that Ceci gave Estephania. Isabel reminds her that she should remember who put her in this spot. JM confronts Marichuy and asks her what she did with the leche. She says that she stoled it for the orphans. They were so hungry. Patricio asks her, "Are you not sorry for what you did? You can go to jail for this." She answers back "No, I will go to jail if I have to. To see there faces when I brought them the leche. If I have to do it again, I will." Paticio and JM discuss what to do with Marichuy. Patricio wants to her to jail. JM defends her. After further discussions Patricio suggests that JM be responsible for Marichuy. He expects and informs her friends that he will be taking her with him to his house. He goes and tells Marichuy that she can leave the jail, but that she must go with him. They go into the foyer of his house and they talk about something which I cannot understand. She promises to change (I think that she what she says) and she kisses him on the check. I sense he felt sparks. They walk in and JM asks the maid to prepare a room for Marichuy, she will be sleeping in the house. Candie and the novio are talking and he asks Candie how can she be so calm that Marichuy is going to stay with JM. Does she know him? Can she trust him? Jealousy talking here. Onelia and Rocio are talking about how JM had Viv's stuff removed for the room. And in Miami we see Viv being fondled by Bernie (Elvis from Destilando Amor) on the beach. Onelia gets scared by Marichuy and asks her what she is doing here. Marichuy informs her that she now lives in the house. Onelia gets pissy and tells her to leave, but Marichuy says that she will be staying. JM is telling his daughter about Marichuy when in bursts Onelia demanding to know why Marichuy is living in the house. Then demands that he make her leave. JM says I know that your upset because I had Viv's stuff removed. Onelia stops him and says why did you not consult me about this matter? JM says all this happened very late and he was going to tell her this morning. Onelia keeps saying ugly things to JM. (If I was JM, I would be reminding her who the house belongs to). In Marichuy's room the maid brings in her clothes and Marichuy asks about Onelia. The maid says that Onelia doe not want her there and that she doubts Marichuy will be there for very long. Estephania, Isabel and Ceci are out shopping and Isabel she's something she wants. Pretends not to want it, but Ceci insists that she get it. Marichuy is trying to eat breakfast, but has lost her appetite because she is worrying about what JM will do. He walks in and assures her that she will be staying. She swears that she will be good and clean the house. JM says no you will be like a member of the family, not an employee. JM visits with Patricio and Estephania walks in and is like damn cutie. How you doing? Marichuy and Mayita meet at the pool. Candie and friend are walking in the hood and the lady with the curlers says a smart ass remark. They go back and forth and curler lady insults Marichuy and Candie slaps her, pulls her hair and spanks her. Onelia finds Mayita talking to Marichuy and drags Mayita away after saying ugly things to Marichuy. We are back in Miami with Viv and Bernie walking in drunkenly into her hotel room drinking champagne and kissing each other. Marichuy ponders what she is going to do about her situation.

Loved the fight where Cande opened up a Can of Campbell's Whup Ass on Casilda and yanked her big hair rollers out. Don't cry, Cande--you won! LOL!

Yeah, right, get your eyes back in your head, Stef honey. Ferrrrr-get it. You "gots" no chance with JM. (Whenever someone says Estefania's name, I swear I flash all the way--waaaaaaay back--to high school spanish class where on any given day, my eccentric teacher called me Estebana, Estebanita, Stefania, Steba, or Estefaniiiiiiiiiiiia. Like I had multiple personalities or something. But I digress.)

Good lord, Viv is living it UP. Caray! (Hope she's using protection)

Loved the interaction between Mayita and Chuy. They agreed Evil-ene (Onelia) was something unflattering--I didn't catch the word--but I'm sure it fit.

Concerning fantasy Abuela Mariana--I could swear Onelia reminded Mayita "your grandma Mariana is dead" in an earlier episode. So Mariana was either JM's mother, or since she's so white-haired, JM's or Viv's grandmother. Eh?

Thanks for the recap, Gloria.

Thanks for the recap.

This is something about nothing. Viv's love interest looks like the boyfriend from Destilando Amor. I wonder if he's an artist in this novela - or, maybe just a professional gigolo.

Thanks for the great recap. You sense JM felt sparks? Ha, when he was looking at Marichuy at the jail, I thought he would have jumped her right then had those pesky bars not been in the way! I think they have great chemistry and you can see the growing attraction between them.

Mayita is totally cute, poor kid. I felt sorry for her but it seems like she is clever and learning to cope with her horrible situation--she knew to look around for Onelia before daring to talk to Mari. Of course, then she got caught and dragged off anyway, but I think she'll get sneakier. She seems very observant.

When the maid brought Mari's clothes back to her, she said they had been washed and dried. So they do have laundry machines in the house? Maybe they send the laundry to Cande because they've been doing that forever and don't want to deprive the poor old woman of the business now.

Thanks for the funny recap, Gloria. I loved "....damn Cutie. How you doing?"

I really liked Marichuy with Mayita, too. I'm glad that Mayita didn't seem to be too concerned about her mean abuela at the end. She's finally got a flesh-and-blood confidant.

Thank you, Gloria!

I’m thinking Viv made a good move. All that hawt stuff on the beach with that dishy guy sure beats the boring old castle with uninterested JM.

Speaking of which, what is Mari supposed to do all day? Just play with the ducks? Seems like the rich folks just sit around in their amazing surroundings – I’d rather hang in the barrio, which looks very interesting, to say the least.

I’m surprised Cande isn’t sadder about losing Mari, though she realizes this is a good step for her.

Yeah, I'm surprised JM didn't wait until Mari woke up and at least give her some suggestions of what to do until he got back from his meetings or whatever. I don't think just dumping her in his house counts as adequate rehabilitative therapy. He should have at least assigned one of the household staff to take her shopping for new clothes.

I did notice that as they were driving home from the jail, he had his Bluetooth thing in his ear again. What a tool! Who exactly does he need to be talking to during that drive home instead of focusing on his new project?

From the avances, it looks like tonight we will get some gym locker room chat time with Juan Miguel and Eduardo. Thank you, writers!

Thanks for the recap! I too am still trying to get a grasp on Marichuy's fast talking. Slowly I'm getting there.

I was surprised that Mari didn't put up a big fight about having to live with JM. Maybe that little time spent in the slammer calmed her down a little and not so defensive.

Did anyone notice the lady standing in the fountain after the fight scene between Candelaria and hair rollers lady (I forget her name)? I just thought it was funny.

Looks like the drama is really starting now with Mari living with JM, Onelia spreading her wrath with her nasty attitude, Estafania and her tia with their decpetions, Estefania having eyes for JM while he has eyes for Marichuy and all the while Viviana is still assumed dead....oh boy!

My comment yesterday about the female lead's age might have been misunderstood.

My statement was in reference to Allison Lozz from Guapos, who WAS only 15 at the time! What I meant to convey was that at least they are using an actress of a reasonable age for this show. I think Mai (Mari) is 25.

It used to really creep me out when Alex would go all perve on Mili. Again, reflecting my feelings as parent of daughter.

I knew what you meant, Riberajoe, and my comment was just regarding that I can't tell quite how old Marichuy is supposed to be. But, yes, it was creepy on Guapos when Al and then ESPECIALLY Hugo were all pervy to sweet little Mili.

But what creeps me out even more is that a lot of guys in the real world don't hesitate to say and do stuff like that and worse to girls that age and younger! It hasn't been that long since I was a teenage girl; I remember clearly. Ugh.

Honestly, if your significant other went into major conniption fits EVERY SINGLE TIME you wanted to leave the house or gave a wrong answer to his/her question, screaming, jumping up and down, slapping you around and hitting you with both fists like some demented two-year-old on crack, would you find that the least bit attractive? I wouldn't. After so much of that high school crap, I'd start drifting away and end up tuning/Bluetooth'ing that misery out of my ears and my life. They couldn't even drive down the street in the first episode without Viv shrieking at the top of her lungs the whole way about something pissing her off. She's screaming in the foyer, screaming in the library, screaming in the bedroom. That is so not a turn-on.

She did everybody a favor by leaving. She sucked as a mom, and helped her husband flush their marriage down the toilet. Come on.

I'm just saying'.

(That said, she's a great telenovela character! The actress definitely plays her part well. :-)

Exactly, Stephe. If Viv wanted her husband to spend time with her, why didn't she work a little harder on being the sort of person he would WANT to spend time with? If she was at all fun he would probably have liked her a lot; even with all the brattiness he didn't seem to hate her.

And the rest of the time, why didn't she accept that he had a job, and get herself a job or some hobbies or something. Oh, well, she's got a hobby now, and he seems to keep her busy. I wonder if Viv has any sort of long-term plan. Her jewelry won't hold out forever. Is she planning to snag some new rich guy? Will she be nicer to him, or just repeat the pattern? I hope she at least doesn't have more kids.

I know this is the oldest story in the telenovela book but the way they are playing it in this one is kind of creeping me out.

Isn't it kind of pervy that this guy who's wife just "died" is bringing this hot huerfana home as a project?

If the attraction came later or wasn't so obvious at the start, I wouldn't be questioning his motives, but she's obviously very sexy and they are already making googly lust eyes at each other.

Something about JM's character, or the way he's being played is not convincing me of his nobleza. He's conflicted and hiding something.

Eliza Doolittle wasn't attractive at first, she was a "project" and love came as a complete surprise later as she transformed.

Anyway, things are setting up for lot's of fun intrigues at the castle. Jeez what a place.

randy, sea.

Julia--I agree JM certainly didn't seem to hate her, just tune her out. He didn't even disrespect her by screwing around with another woman, and he wasn't happy when the authorities stopped searching for her. He felt something, she just got on his last nerve and he escaped into his work and Mayita. I'm not saying he's perfect, not by a long way, but damn--Viv sucked.

Interesting comments on the novela age thing (Julia and Riberajoe). This is what my DVR guide says to describe the show: "Marichuy es una joven criada en un hospicio, de donde se escapa antes de cumplir quince anos, y comienza a rodar por la vida." What is that about 15 years (old)? *pulling out the dictionary, trying to translate everything*

Hmmm. So she left the orphanage young. Do we know how long she was on the street, and how long she's been living with Candelaria?

Nope... all we know is that "years pass" before she's attacked and before she's taken in by Cande (in the official synopsis). So we can all hope that 6 or 7 years passed at the very least.
