Fuego - 10/13 - Monday: A cachetada, a machete, a boda, a loada crapa
At the tienda, Sara chats with Eva that she thinks Demian is interested in Sofi. Sara hopes he distracts her but Eva is convinced Sofi is a one woman man, (ok this was a typo, but I think it's kind of hysterical so I'm leaving it in) and that man is none other than shirtless wonderboy, Juan.
Speaking of him, the campesinos accept him into their brotherhood of white outfit wearing field workers. Medicineman and his scary skull stick look on secretly and foam at the mouth.
Dem is sorry he didn’t know she knew them or he wouldn’t have insisted. Sofi says she won’t let it affect his contract. She is introduced to the magical Lusitano horse that induces flashbacks at one single touch. She remembers when she first touched Capricho. She says she has to go.
Franco and Oscar kwetch about Sofi’s ‘tude and don’t like seeing her with Dem, but agree he’s not so bad himself.
Sof runs off and sees Pablito who wonders who she is with, he wonders what she is up to with someone other than Juan. Crazy lady reminds him even if he were here they wouldn’t be together, that Juan robbed the spawn, Pablito refuses to accept it and tells her she’s nuts, well he should at least, and that Juan will be back. He knows it. Why are the kids always smarter than the grownups in novelas???
Crabby and Fern are strolling the square. She tells the gossip ladies they are married now, and soon will be married in the church. The gossip ladies feign politeness but their chipmunk voices tell us their real disgust.
They run to Paddy Tad to tell him the news and he declares "she’s married the killer of her husband!" The ladies (and I agree) are more upset that she has married her former son-in-law. Yeah, that’s the scarier thing, really. He proclaims she’s married to the true enemy of the whole family and flashes back to Feo's confession of killing Libia.
Meanwhile, Jime the immobile is back to her old ways and much to Oscar’s chagrin he can’t get her to even wince. He spews stuff about wishing she wasn’t this way and how he loves her and stuff and she thinks she will benefit much if she stays comatose and will learn if they are really telling the truth. That’s a pretty elaborate way to test the honor of your beloved. I guess if I’m desperate, I could try it some time. I’d have to be pretty bad off to stay in bed so long.
Franco shows up in the store and wants to buy something. Sara doesn’t really want to help him, but yes she does, but not. He says he wants a dress for a girl and she goes into a tail spin of jealousy. He wants her to try it on. She says she’s a salesperson not a model, but she lets him hold it up to her and rub it all over her. He ends up buying and then finally explains it’s for her and this earns the wrath as she throws him out and throws stuff after him. It’s weird, but you know, she looks an awful lot like another Sarah to me... check out Melinama’s postcard.
Hortensia apologies to Eugenia for forcing her and sets her free from her promise to marry Rigo. She cares for him much, but agrees she doesn’t love him, but in time she’s sure she will, just like he deserves. Alright we know the telenovela Gods rarely make that work out, but she is going forward with her promise to marry Rigo.
Sara fantasizes over her new dress and flashes back to happier times to Pablo’s glitter flashed serenade:
Con ganas de amar
Cuando yo me vaya se bien que
Tus ojos me van a extrañar
Vas a llorar por no verme
Renegaras de tu suerte
Y
Me vas a buscar ay ay ay
Rigo’s head hurts and Eugenia comes upon him unexpectedly but he denies he’s feeling bad...ok, now I see where this is going. She wants to know why he doesn’t tell her he's in pain and he doesn't want her to be bothered with him. She says she’s not at his side out of pity. She swears she wants to marry him as soon as possible. He says he’s the happiest man in the world.
YEAH!!!! More naked swimming. Oh, bummer he’s not naked, oh well. Dr, Loose lips is, it looks like though, and the medicine goons faces agree. She says she only wants to swim with him. Yeah I do that all the time, swim naked with my guy friends. Skinny goofy guy tells medicine man he better kill Juan today or he’ll be dead.
The general greets Eugenia and Rigo and they thank him for his help to make Rigo better. They want him to be their padrino de lasso. He will, but who will be the Madrina? They look at each other questioningly.
Demian is laying it on thick now, he wants Sofi to forget that blasted sweaty breadmaker. In classic llorona fashion she cries how can she forget this man who....well she can’t, she’s cursed and it sucks, but she still loves him. Good old Demian hugs and holds her anyway. Yep she hates him again. Nope, wait she loves him. She pushes back Dem. Whoa, they kiss? Well, we have to have a commercial first of course. MUST...DRAGGG....OUT....SUSPENNNNSE....LOOONNGEERRR......
Ok, and we’re back and yes, they kiss, for a millisecond until Sofi yells at him for betraying her friendship. He loves her. She doesn’t want to hear it. She can never lover (also a typo but I think it's funny so I'm leaving it in) anyone again. She begs him to leave. He does so with his tail between his legs and she cries more.
Now it’s instantly Rigo and Eugenia’s wedding. I tell you these people throw weddings together faster than Martha Stewart can say muffin. Paddy Tad officiates and smiles are all around. OK, I just have to say it, I’m sorry, but this is a certain death sentence for the groom. Did we find out who was the madrina???
At the reception, Rigo’s brother’s girlfriend tells how much she likes her new job, that the guy treats her much better than Crabby did. Of course bro gets jealous.
Horty thanks the Reyes for their generosity in hosting the reception.
Thanks to the boys for hosting them, and more, they can stay at the Hacienda to live!! Everyone claps.
Quinti shows up with the king of the party, the pot of mole, which she very classily slaps up on the table and she has mole on her face for having tried it already!!
In the jungle, Juan meets up with the angry medicine man who wants to machete him to death. The fierce machete fighting continues until Juan nearly puts the blade into the other guy's belly. He stops and says he’s not a killer. Oh, but I bet that other guy is, sure enough, he runs after to slice Juan down on the rebound, but is halted when the pack leader stops him and proclaims that he is in debt to Juan for having spared his life and must give retribution. He explains that Juan deserves something from him, you know like spoils. Juan wants nothing from this man, but he is warned he must take something.
Ok. Oh no! Not the dreaded vaccinations!!!! Horror of horrors!! He announces that’s what he wants and the head guy proclaims it so and the medicine man shudders at the absolute horrible thought of having the entire town vaccinated. Curses!
Jime is faking again and Oscar is pleading again. He is so sad, and then, he kisses her. It’s much too much for our comatose cutie and she smacks him. He discovers her secret and she swears it has nothing to do with him, he says it does, the slap hurt. He begs her to swear to his face she doesn’t love him anymore and if so he’ll leave. He gets pretty darn close and well, Jime just can’t resist. After all she’s been laying still in bed for the last several weeks so I’m sure she’s got some pent up energy. This finally leads to love in the sack for our pair.
Sofi is wandering aimlessly in the foyer of the hacienda, and Feo comes up and wonders where she’s been every night, with her lover? Sofi tells him he’s her Ma’s husband so get off and what if Ma found out. He persists like the slime he is and she eventually has to push him off of her. Of course Crabby hears the commotion and wants to know que the heck? Sofi says the same as always, he’s accosting me. OH, but Feo has a secret weapon....tell your Mami Dearest what precious gift you offered me if I found your daughter. Go on, tell her. She doesn’t have to, Mami guesses and asks if it’s true. Our darling Snowfie, who just can’t tell a lie, says yes Mami, it’s true. And we close with Sofi being busted.

There was a little bit of action: Juan beats down El Brujo; Jimena, the fainting goat, wakes up; and in his ever twisted web of lies, Fernando "pretends" to be an ally of Sofia who will help her find her daughter. I forgot - Sofia attacks Damian when he tries to kiss her. Stupid girl.
Why oh why didn't Sofia tell Crabi that when she offered herself to Feo it was before she knew they were getting married and that he was very interested until Crabi came in and asked him if he had told Sofia about their impending marriage?? But then again, who knows if that would have made a difference to Crabi...

Thankfully I missed the whole jungle b.s. That storyline needs to get flushed PRONTO. I-Juan-A-Brain, Dra. Do-Me, Porn Dude, Diaper Dude & Good Dude all need to walk off into the sunset once & for all. Would we really notice? EY's eye-popping, mud-rolling, gorilla-screaming fits are just so yesterday.
Yeah, I'm pretty much done with this one. I keep hoping for the "Proximo Capitulo" headlines...
Where's Fernando Colunga??????
Maggarita
:-/
I have noticed that when I watch Cristina (just shoot me), when the person was raised in the US, I can understand them much better than when they are from Mexico. I think it is the way they pronounce the letters, my husband can always tell they are from here not Mexico.
Anyway, Damien loves Sofie?
As effin if. WTH? Why do all the people act like it is the first day of seventh grade and it is love at first site?
Also mucho time has passed as Rigo's head is healed.
For the love of Gawd, Jimena get up and do some toe touches or something...eeek
Jimena was at least smart enough to not kick Oscar to the curb and enjoy herself while the others think she is catatonic. Maybe she and Oscar will start plotting together. Maybe I'm giving them way to much credit.
The Franco/Sarita scene was stupid, but at least it was funny. Nothing on this show has been funny in so long!
What is with all of these people being instantly in love. Really Damien? You had one whacky depressed wife who took herself and her kids out, so now you want to hook up with another loon? Whoa!
I hope Gabbi kicks Sophia out. What an idiot she is! Why does she listen to the people that hurt her everytime. Freak'n moth around a candle!
1) Franco tries the dress on Sarita by moulding it to her body, and as I've said before, I'm really attracted to Sarita despite her personality. Wish I could have been Franco in that scene!
2) Eugenia in the wedding. Wow, is she beautiful! She doesn't really get a chance to act much, but I'd like to see her in a bigger role in a future novela.
And did anyone see the rubber sword wobble when Juan was standing over Witch Doctor?
I was waiting for Crabbi to slap Slofia on those stairs.
This novela is really getting stupid.
I am glad the recap and comments here shed light on something I must have missed while in Spain. Sofia really came on to Fernando or just acted willing and helpless at one of his slimedog comeons where he hinted he would get her baby back to her?? After all he is the only one who knows where she is, right? The confession of complicity in front of Gabi left me feeling slimed and in need of a shower.
Did Eugenia have a final break with the cowardly Benito and where did Raquel go? I guess I will have to read through the recaps to see what all I missed. Anyway, I agree with HM, that Eugenia is a real beauty.
PaddyTad's flashback of Feo confessions was impressive but hardly worth PT's worry about Gabriela. I guess he really is a good priest if he can care about someone like her.
Cheryl it was gross. Sophia was grief stricken and told Feo she would do anything if he could find her baby. Luckily she snapped out of it!
I am glad Pablito is as sweet as ever and Paddy Tad, there are a lot of scenes to make me feel slimed just now. I notice a big drop off in commenters lately but was interested to see that the Univision ratings list they show about once a week had FELS in all 5 top spots of 10 most watched shows.
Wasn't it only a few chapters ago when it was unanimously determined that Pablito is the only human with a brain in this group, with Capricho and Mariachi the only members of mensa in town?
The Sarita character really gets under my skin, too, I wish she had a more sympathetic role with less spoiled tantrum behavior. Franco is starting to develop a more sensitive and rational characterization to his role, much better than in the beginning.

The best thing about this novela is that it doesn't take too much time to watch it. I fast forward through Oscar and Jimena's scenes, although this time I had to stop because she actually reacted. I fast forward through Sofía's virgencita scenes.
Always watch anything with either Crabi or Feo because at least they seem to move the plot along.
I mainly watch Dona Barbara, and switch to FELS during Dona B.commericials. When I read the recaps, i realize that I'm not missing anything.
NJ Sue
Julie...whew! At least on Wednesday I can sleep thru the debate without feeling guilty! When FELS first came on, I'd run to the couch and sit there all perky and awake for the full hour. Now I'm dozing...in...and out...ssnzyxk....
I'm afraid I agree about Rigo's fate, too bad. His character has a genuine dignity (and beautiful black eyelashes!)

So where did Benito go off to, did they say that too? Because he's definitely gone. (I know one of you will remind us of what you said about him having gone over to another TN and playing a new role, ha ha ha)
PanQue
As for Christian De La Fuente, I met him about a year ago and he let me take a picture with him. That has made it more exciting for me to watch this novela. Thank you Damian.
LL in LA
Maybe Damien and the dog will stick around for awhile, unlike some of the other characters they cycle in and out of this loony production.
