MEPS, 7/26 - Barbara Continues Her Black Magic
If anyone knows how to post this to the sidebar, please do so.
We begin with yesterday’s scene in which Lili talks to the cook and tells her she overheard Barbara talking to Artemio Bravo. Barbara calls Lili a drug addict and warns her that she is capable of anything, and if she let’s the cat out of the bag, her son is in danger and that she will be watched night and day. And the rest of the Elisaldes will have the same fate as Montserrat – death. Nobody is find out about Artemio Bravo.
Quarter moon rising and we’re at Monty’s funeral. Soledad comforts the kids, Daddy cries – Barb watches and gives out bad vibes. Meanwhile, Lili is in a straight jacket tied up in a bed somewhere.
We now have a complete change of scene – we’re transported to a gym class and non other than Padre Bosco calls out Ed’s name. They embrace, but the good Padre tells him that his mom won’t be able to visit him as frequently as promised. Boy looks shocked.
Toluca – 1992 – Soledad gives the goodby blessing to Fer – the other kids are all crying. Barb looks so smug as Fernanda is escorted to the plane and dumb daddy looks happy. Now in Madrid – we know that because we hear flamenco music. Looks like a girl’s school – little Ferdanda is on the lawn dreaming of Ed – she dreams him into a real person – he’s supposed to be dreaming of her. They’re co-dreamers.
At her house, Soledad receives letters addressed to Ed from Fer. But she says these letters can’t reach their destination.
Looks like Barb and Daddy got married – I hear wedding music. He looks so happy, and she looks cold and smug. Part 2 of the big plan has succeeded.
At Pueblo – Soledad prays about the situation between the patron and the murderess and her problem with Ed – she has to keep her mouth shut. Sole feels like Barb’s accomplice because she’s kept her mouth shut. And, she accepts whatever punishment the Virgin Mary imposes upon her. She’s at Mary’s mercy.
Soledad looks at the letters again – she has two boxes. One box is marked with “Fernanda” and the other marked “Eduardo”. All these years she has hidden the letters in these boxes.
Harvard - The big boys are practicing football. We know the good looking one is Ed because he has the magic medal. Of course, it’s TMBMOE. Later he’s in church praying. We know that because he’s in church and is moving his lips.
It’s now 2007 and Fernanda is receiving her diploma. Barbara looks disgusted. Fer dedicates her success to her mother and nana Soledad. Soledad is very happy – who is the guy with the scraggly hair. Daddy’s real proud of her – he’s got a job for her in the company as a director in her specialty. It was Barbara’s idea – can you believe it. We know Barb’s older ‘cause her hair is messy. Fernanda can’t wait to get started.
2007 – Eduardo is giving his dissertation? And, he is congratulated – must have been a good one. Ed graduated summa cum laude – redhead Steve, his friend, is ready to party. (Just an aside – Steve was Dr. Brown in Como Agua para chocolate.) But Ed is serious, and he wants to get going. Ed reminisces that the day his mother sent him off he tried to do good. He got a scholarship to Harvard – something his mother deserves – now he can marry Fernanda. The two of them are just a pair of workaholics.
Current time: Fernanda carries on with Margarita about all the things they've seen in the country. Fernanda is wearing a straw hat, boots and jeans and seems to be in charge. She’s just a country girl educated in Spain. She is greeted with respect as she goes in the building. Barbara is talking to mystery man and reports that everything is going as planned – she’s still responsible for destroying the Elisalde family. Damian is part of the plan – he stole Fer’s heart. She says that Fernanda’s spouse is going to be the catalyst the starts the downward spiral of the family.
Fer walks in greeting everyone – and asks for daddy who is in his office. Barbara and Anibal are talking company policy. Anibal is apparently interested in a new plant – Daddy has aged. Fer hugs and kisses everyone. Fer apparently actually likes Barbara. What a fool. Daddy wants a report – Fer tells her how well received they were in the country. The Elisaldes are going to contribute to the growth of a product of their state. Apparently not a money maker, but good press. Daddy – at Barbara’s direction – tells Anibal that Fer is in charge of developing artisan products, etc. Fer claps and hugs daddy.
An aged Sole who is now sick and couphing is walking and comes upon a grown up Jacinto who is on a bike – she keeps on about minding her own business. Sole doesn’t want help from anyone. J tells her that he’s heard from Ed – she reminds him not to talk to her about it. J is exasperated – so am I.
New York – Sinatra introduces us to Ed who keeps saying manana – that finally after 15 years he’s going to return to his country. He remembers his mother’s words and kisses Fer’s medal again. Times have changed mama – he now has a future to offer Fer. Enter Steve who speaks in Spanish and English – Ed tells Steve that he’s going to Mexico tomorrow – Steve gives him his card with his numbers – and says he’d like to meet his mother and girlfriend and not to marry without letting him know and that this gringo wants to be best man at his wedding. Ed says – there’s no other woman for him. Is he in for a surprise.
Fer has lots to do, her secretary is taking many notes. In walks guy with glasses and moustache – I wonder if he breaks phones. He and Fer kiss – they’re planning a wedding – he says that with Barbara’s help everything will turn out great – Fer has some reservations – she seems to be pulling away from Damian – Fer insists she has to solve work-related problems, and he says he’ll go wherever she goes.
Back at the E’s hacienda – Sole is coughing and it is obvio that she is very sick. Sole wants to talk to the patron – but Barbara enters – and puts the kebosh on that. She grabs Soledad and asks why she’s in the hacienda where she’s been forbidden to enter. They talk – Barbara continues the threats – Sole says her son knows nothing Bar threatens him with death. Mom says Ed will never return – is that why she hid the letters. She says she’s all he’s got and if she dies – Bar says everything has to go as is – and she should never come near the Elizalde house. Get lost Sole.
Anibal wants to know what dad thinks of the plan. Enter Bar – son is sad cause Dad doesn’t approve – son is wary of Bar. Daddy has an appointment with the doctor. Bar reminds him about the chemical plant and wedding preps. He’s going to the cardiologist. Looks like dad’s days are numbered. Son wants who know what just happened – she double crossed him. The powerded milk plan is a go???
Fer and Damian caress and look at floral arrangements. The maid tells Jacinto and Margarita that Bar wouldn’t let Sol speak to the patron. They discuss what to do. Margarita is warned not to go help Sole. I think that Sole went to see Padre B to make her final confession and get it off her chest. At the clinic/church Sole and a doctor/nurse – apparently Sole wanted the job of arranging the flowers in the church – but someone else got it – the woman tells her it is out of her hands. She doesn’t want any problems with Dr. Obregon. Sole want to see Lili – the lady is Adolfina – please begs Sole let me say goodbye to her.
Damian and Fer show up at the clinic even though it’s not visiting hours – Meanwhile Sole succeeds in seeing Liliana who is unresponsive and looks like she’s had a lobotomy. Will Sole and Fer run into each other? Break time.
Damian wants to be with Fer – but duty calls and somehow they'll get back the seven days they’ll lose when they’re not together.
Sole comforts Lili and talks to her and calls her Palomita – the day will come when everyone will find out but, who knows what’s going to happen. She coughs – Saying goodbye to life is easy –The painful part is saying goodbye to you. I don’t think I’m going to be able to see you again. A mother always wants to be at her children’s side – this is the way she has suffered – she’s going to leave Ed all alone. The good is that he’s far away – it would be terrible to leave him at the mercy of Barbara, the hyena – the worst is yet to come.
Sole reaches into her bag, pulls out a box – this box contains the secret that she’s known about all their lives. She’s going to hide it because if she dies –if Ed were here he would find it – he would be in danger – she doesn’t want to sentence him to death – so she’s going to leave it here in Lili’s room for her to find. Sole says that God knows that she's tried to save your family. So she hides the secret in the room of someone who is catatonic? She knows of a secret board that lifts up, and puts the box and some chocolates for Lili in the hiding place. Sole tells Lili that If Lili never leaves here it will be because the Elisalde family deserves some other destiny.
Then Sole says, forgive me for not having fought harder against these bad people –for fifteen years they’ve killed my soul – May god have mercy on you (the Elisaldes).
Advances –
Ed at the airport – looking all dapper in sunglasses, neck scarf and jacket while Jacinto looks for him. Anibal and Barbara lock horns – the stage is set and Fer and Ed meet up with each other.

Well, what has happened to our sweet little Fernanda. She is on speed or has an overactive thyroid as she is one perky girl. Rapid speech and hands and body waving everywhere. I am having a hard time with her transition. Eduardo's transition seems a little more believable. He went from cute to handsome but more serious and determined.
Thank goodness for Sergio Sendel as Damien. I think we are going to need him to keep this novela rolling. More cell phone throwing please.
The payoff for Babs better be gigantic as she has spent 15 long years with a less than exciting doofus of a husband. She has sacrificed her youth on him...for what and why... I wonder. GinCA
I enjoyed the hiding of the secret box and the chocolates. That was weirdly random.
Eduardo gets muddy tomorrow, how encouraging!
Khalilah
Soledad was not looking to work in the Church, she had been a volunteer there for the 15 years Liliana has been at the clinic and because she didn’t go for a week(she was sick) the doctor replaced her. Also, that is not the Padre’s church, that is the clinic “Capilla”.
And I agree with you about his novela being boring. In my case I sa the origianl and I think I am comparing the actors on their roles. So, far in my opinion the actors in the original were far better.
TBLMOE, in a tight white tee shirt. It just doesn't get any better than that.
15 years pass & Babs' hair deflates a few inches but the portrait in her closet looks like hell.
Who plopped that ugly carpet on Steve's head?
Of course Ed was BMOC at Harvard. A little old for the starting QB but who am I to quibble.
Maggarita
:-)
Paula H: I'm with you on the white tee shirt. Heck, who am I kidding? I'll take TBLMOE wearing plaid knickers!
Maggarita
The Barbinator's murder spree went on hiatus, at least for last night. (Glad so many of you liked the nickname). Her uncanny ability to be both omnipresent and omnipotent is frightening. As she possesses no shred of human kindness, she's a formidable enemy.
The scenes with Lili were just painful to watch. She's living a fate worse than death and suffered the cruelest fate so far.
Has the Barb/Damian connection been made clear? I like Sergio Sendel and was surprised to see what a beautiful, warm smile he has. Guess he must have been too busy screaming, plotting and throwing phones in DA to smile :)
Agree with Susanlynn that Fernanda doesn't look like the typical heroine. I think she's got an interesting face and am enjoying her upbeat personality (after 10 months of the Elizondo sisters, can you blame me??:))
Looking forward to the Ed/Fer reunion. Diana in MA
For those who are wondering - Jacinto and Margarita are married. Margarita and Gardenia are sisters; Flor is their cousin.
Am I the only one who was distracted by the fact that Ed and his teammates on the Harvard football team were wearing University of Miami football uniforms?
Jody :)
I have to say, ole Babs was quite efficient in her first week on the job, dispensing with Montserrat, Eduardo, Soledad, Fernanda and Liliana. Yet, here we are, 15 AÑOS DESPUES and she has made no progress with la venganza??? Geez, Artemio Brava could have died of old age by now, or have alzheimer's and forget why he sent Babs there in the first place.. Argh! Where's my telenovela beanie hat??? Where's my "I survived FELS" tee-shirt???
No Jody you weren't the only one to notice the uniforms. Harvard's color as crimson and white not Univ of Miami (or the Dolphins; I know NFL team colors better than college). I was thinking how could the costume designer pick THOSE colors since they seemed to get the univ logo correct.
Hey, Paula I can try to tape the episode and send it to you on DVD but have to make sure the recorder is working. Yes FC in a tight white t-shirt is quite nice. My e-mail is bowdre04@yahoo.com.
Pasofino, my apologies for misspelling your name. GinCA
Pasofino, was this your first recap? I know it's the first one from you that I've seen! Great job!
I agree with GinCA, I think Grownup Nanda is way too perky. I hope she settles down within a week or two!
That girl must not watch very many telenovelas, or she'd know better than to get mixed up with a Sergio Sendel character!
I didn't quite get all of that conversation about the powdered milk. I know father and son disagreed about it, I think Dad was against? Did Barb approve it behind Dad's back? Help?? And then Barb mumbled something about destitution being the least of their problems when something something happens?
I wonder, is Barb going to poison the milk? That would be really, really bad for the company.
As to the conversation about the different projects between Anibal, Daddy and Barb - I started to watch it again to refine the recap, but, I just couldn't stand it twice in the same night.
This is my first stint as a regular recapper. I subbed twice on Cuidado.
Also - 15 years have passed, so Ed should be 27 or 30 and Fernanda should be 22 or maybe 25. So, we have another suspension of reality to handle.
Sylvia, thanks for spotting Margarita, I really didn't get the transition without spandex and butterflies in the hair for clues. Nacho as Jacinto was easy, and I am glad he seems to be playing a nicer character.
Steve is an interesting actor, my MexiMom told me he is brilliant, fluent in numerous languages and a musician. Mario Iván Martínez is his name. I just looked him up on IMDB to find out that he was a singer on Alborada. Is having one red haired character required? I really appreciate that they have put at least one really smart character in to be Eduardo's best buddy and we can have some intelligent dialog between them. I think Steve said he was catching up on work for his boss, his father. It may be that Eduardo's big first job was with them as they seemed to be friends in the classmates scene. Oh those Harvard connections take one a long way.
Eeyore, amazing catch on the Miami uniforms. But who cares that they looked so mature. Eduardo looks good in every frame. I can't wait for someone to clean him up from the mud bath. I am totally pleased with this first sight of our beautiful Colunga.
So I think grown-up Fernanda is channeling Marichuyi over on Cuidado. With all that money and private schooling she is difficult to understand when the motor mouth is in high gear.
This is for you former Fuego viewers and Juan Reyes fans.

Pasofino, welcome aboard! I don't think we will have 300 episodes in the USA. I checked the esmas capitulos and we are seeing two each night at this point. Tonight will be 9 & 10.
Another secret box!!! I do hope they don't make us crazy like in FELS.
rsk
Thanks a bunch.
But I must say that Fernando Colunga really is impressive in his look, his bearing, I saw him in Pasion, but he really does command the screen, I totally understand what you ladies like about him. Also, I'm able to understand his and Fernanda's speaking voices easily, while I'm having problems understanding Jacinto, Margarita, etc.
As for the powdered milk, my take on it was that Gonzalo wants natural milk, and Anibal wants to substitute powdered milk and pretend it's fresh real milk, and trick the customers. Barbara pretends to support Gonzo, but after he leaves, reassures Anibal they can go with the cheap substitute (I think).
Maybe it was a cost saving measure...I'm thinking a lot of these are filmed in Florida, no? So many telenovela stars seem to be living in the Miami area. So maybe they just borrowed some leftovers from the pros.
Nice debut Pasofino...or re-entry since you've already recapped a few. I had trouble posting at first and always e-mailed Melinama to do it for me. Paula can probably walk you through it> she's taught me how to post pictures which means she's a genius at computer instruction.
I'm not finding this "bland" at all, but then I didn't see the original. Lucero lurking in almost every scene really hypes up the tension for me. I love her voice though, low-pitched, husky and very nice pacing. Fernanda does speak quickly but this seems more like normal Latino speed. The French also speak at a rapid pace, city-dwellers anyway. But I find her much easier to understand than Mari Chuy in Cuidado. At least Fernanda uses normal Spanish and not the rapid-fire slurred Chilango slang that the Cuidado actress spouts.

for the Fuego fans: the gran finale will be rebroadcast on Saturday; the "Tras La Verdad" special for "Fuego" will be on Sunday. Don Francisco Presents will have Jorge and Elizabeth as guests.
Jody :)
By the way, you can see Fernando Colunga speak English pretty well on El Ladron Que Robo El Ladron, shot mostly in the US. After seeing that I cannot imagine why he is not a bigger big screen star.
Anyway, I still like this better than Cuidado.
Thanks for the recap.
I haven't found this show to be boring, except the scene with Soledad in the nuthouse with Liliana, that scene was about 10 minutes too long. I know it was supposed to be sad and dramatic or whatever, but with the way these shows usually move and work, it seemed way too long and out of place.
When I coined the term TBLMOE (The Best Looking Man on Earth), it was mostly as a joke, but I confess to a strong suspicion that he really does deserve the title.
Many men think they are God's gift to women. FC really is!
And who ever said they were surprised by Sergio Sendel's warm smile, yeah, he IS fine in my opinion. I enjoy watching his fine chiseled features as he seethes and hurls cell phones. . .

15 years later, but with the new 'do, I think Babs looks a bit younger than previously. :-)
They way she is hacking, doesn't look like Soledad can be long for this world. I did see Eduardo pining away for Fernanda, but I don't recall much of anything in this episode with Fernanda thinking of Eduardo? Of course, she did have Damian to keep her happy, not sure if Eddie had anyone. :-)
Adophina (nurse talking to Sole) was I believe Gloria's mom in Guapos.
I agree with some others that it is just wrong what they appear to have done with Lili. After 15 years of medication, I don't think it would be possible to even be a viable human being again?
I think even Fernanda the younger was quite perky and talkative when given the chance. I can see her growing into this grown up one.
GinCA "The payoff for Babs better be gigantic as she has spent 15 long years with a less than exciting doofus of a husband. She has sacrificed her youth on him...for what and why... I wonder."
Definitely, I wonder, too. What is the payoff? Makes me wonder if Cigarman is getting back at Babs as well as Gonzo. 15 years!! LOL
And along with others, seeing all of the old familiar faces, some under mops (Santiago/Meester James/Raul).
Sorry to say, but watching Eddie passing, ah, hmm, I think Harvard may have had some long seasons. :-)
Diana in MA, Fernanda is definitely a change from the Elizondo girls.
Didn't catch the name of the woman talking with Margarita and Jacinto, but she seemed a familiar face as well. Took awhile before I figured out who Jacinto was in YA Juan Q.
So poisoned powered milk? Sounds like Damian must have told Babs about this plan he had previously having to do with poisoned tequila. ;-)

I feel sad for Liliana. She must have taken hints from Jimena (FELS) on how to appear catatonic. I only hope the hidden chocolates were an ongoing thing, so she'll be able to retrieve THE BOX one day.
The fifteen year time lapse does little for the believability of Barbinator's evil revenge; it only allows our protagonists to reach mature status. Ah well, at least we have two hot and interesting guys to look at (Sendel, Colunga.)
La Paloma
Yes Mr. James's wig is going to be the source of endless snark as it's just scary. Why does Televisa do these odd things with hair (ridiculous color or really bad rugs)?
Judy - I like your explanation of the uniforms. It makes sense and gave me a laugh.
Isn't the actress playing Gardenia the same as the one in FELS who marries Rigo after being in love with Big Tweedle? (I forget her character's name). The child Gardenia seemed also to be in love with Eduardo and wrote him a nice goodbye letter. Maybe she will be competition for Fernanda?
I think Eduardo did not get in touch with Fernanda sooner because he was waiting to be a success and waiting to have something to offer her. remember how his mother told him there was no future for them because she was rich and he was poor.
I too agree that Fernanda is a bit much. The child Fernanda was sweet and lively, but not so manic. Sergio Sendel --seems like he's going to be good in this --convincing as F's "love", but also as Barbara's lover and accomplice in nefarious business doings. I'm glad to see that he's not chewing the scenery and throwing phones around.
About Colunga --not only brawny and beautiful, but now also brainy. Wow!!!Summa Cum Laude from Harvard --not bad for a poor Mexican "indio."
Susanlynn --not only does Harvard have a football team, but the Harvard-Yale game is the biggie in Ivy League college football.
So far, I can't say that I'm enthralled, but it seems more hopeful than either TONTAS or CUIDADO.

THis suggests that Liliana isn't super-drugged all the time, fortunately, or else she wouldn't be able to sneak chocolates out from under the floorboards.
I thought someone at the hospital said that she'd been sedated that day because she was agitated, but my captions were turned off, and sometimes my ears make things up...
Do we know exactly what the Elizaldes' company does/makes? We've seen cows, and there was talk about powdered milk - is it a dairy?
Girl, he's just not that into you.
Carlos: I was extremely unnerved at the lost 15 years of youth little Lil has spent in that place. A true frickin' waste of a life so far.
As for Damian, apparently Evilbitch Babs hired him specifically to work his wiles on Nanda --From what I got to see of him as the gálan in Amarte Es Mi Pecado, a nekkid Sergio can be almost as delectable as a nekkid FC or EY.
The company is supposedly a dairy products syndicate...I guess that means they own all sorts of companies that produce various kinds of dairy products.
Jeff in MN
I agree with everyone about it taking 15 yres. to further the verganza plot. After all, it's the wheels of justice that grind slowly, not those of vengeance!
Eddie's an interesting mix - a football player (even if it is at Harvard)- quarter back even (!),& an MBA; yet, after 15 yrs. of no communication, he's in lala-land, thinking he'll just stroll in town, and Fernanda will be his.
His curriculum did not include logic, did it? How did he survive the sharks in business school?
Papa Elizalde is a nincompoop. He has no clue about anything - from marrying the most treacherous woman in Mexico, to having Lili consigned to a "clinic" for 15 yrs. Anyone else would have at least wondered why Lili hasn't gotten "better" (altho she was perfectly ok to begin with) after 15 yrs!! Grrrr....
Watching Sergio Sendel in "Amarte es mi pecado" was a treat. He did a great job as a good guy, and not a villian. He should do more roles as the leading lover.
Finally, yes, Jaime Camil is TMBMOE!! And guapisimo to the nth degree..
Eduardo looks much older than 27-30
yrs old. Fernanda looks older than Liliana. In fact Domenika Paleta should hae played the grown up Fernanda. She looks a lot like the little girl who played her as a child. And the little brother Anibal looks older than everyone even Barbara his step mother.
It did seem like Silvia was too hyper in the first episodes, but I think it had much to do with the change and the adjusting she needed to do to fit in the typical Televisa style, coming from TV Azteca were she was used to ad lib and improvise any time she felt like it (especially with the commodities of being their most popular actress) it was a big change, since everything in most Televisa Novelas is so strictly taped acording to the script and direction.
Her first scenes in the role actually reminded me of her first starring role in Perla, like ten years ago, when she tended to speak a thoundsand words a minute at the begining, but just like there, she gets better in a few episodes. And at least she doesn't mumble like the girl in Cuidado.
Jarocha
Incidentally, I did recognize Domenika Paleta as Liliana after I did the google search - I just hadn't realized that was her name. During the episode last night, I was so busy trying to decide whether or not she looked like Young Liliana that I didn't even notice how much she looks like Young Fernanda!

Jarocha, you said, "everything in most Televisa Novelas is so strictly taped acording to the script and direction." I'd like to hear more. In Tontas, I think I see a lot of improvising from certain actors, most notably Camil, Avila (Tomas Mora of LFMB), and Silvia Mariscal (Santiago's mother). Camil came up outside the Televisa system so he's accustomed to improvising, Avila came up through comedy and he does stand-up so he thinks on his feet, and Mariscal seems like a well-developed actress. Sometimes it appears Camil even lets Rocío improvise and she does really well - he keeps her on a short leash.
I heard once that Tontas didn't use the ear device, so maybe it was not as tightly directed?
So Jarocha, if you know, please tell me.
A. Am I mistaken, and they are NOT improvising?
B. Is Tontas the exception, and improvisation is expected there?
C. Does the Tontas director just let those three improvise because he knows he'll get a better product if he gives them free rein?
On a related topic, last week I talked to an actress who worked in an American soap for 20 years. I asked her about the improv. She said that normally, you get a skeleton of a script and you know what points need to be covered in a scene. From there the actors deliver the dialog as they wish. But some shows are strictly no-improv, and children must always learn their lines verbatim.
It depends alot on the producer, lately, in comedic Telenovelas and on those directed toward teens the direction lets the actors improvise here and there, Rosy Ocampo is one of the producers who believes in giving the actors the confidence to tweak their lines a bit to fit their portrayal, Pedro Damián (Rebelde) is another one, but they have both proven themselves with sucessful telenovelas before, so the trust Televisa gives to them is only extended because of that.
I visited Televisa with my college class three years ago and we got to see the sets and went to a few shows behind the scenes and then we went to visit the taping of some scene of Duelo de Pasiones, with Ludwika Paleta, Rafita and another girl, and it took like half an hour to get the one minute scene, because the girl kept messing the lines, since she was evil and had to grab Ludwika's face every time, at the end of taping poor Ludwika's cheeks were as red as a tomato.
Anyway, the camera crew explained to us that in Televisa all the scenes are previously cheked by a board and that any change that is not according to the original plan is frown upon, so, when scene directors shoot, they always try to be as respectful of the original source as posible, they get in trouble otherwise, and when actors from Venezuela or Colombia come to work in México, they are always surprised about the importance of every part of production given in Televisa, the details of the scripts are quite impresive.
As I said before, the freedom that Pedro Damián and Rosy Ocampo have now, is a product of their constant pleas to the network and the success of their work.
Nicandro Diaz hasn't earned that yet, Destilando wasn't a big hit really, TV Azteca, in efforts to beat Televisa, reran Cuando Seas Mia (the same story, shot a couple of years before, coincidentally with Silvia Navarro in the lead)and that one got better ratings than Destilando, in the 2 pm timeslot.
Jarocha
Isn't it enjoyable to see Sendel looking great and being subtle and complex so far. Don't know how increased pressure from Barbinator with what looks like performance demands (I'm just referring to advance scenes) and she may be more jealous of his attraction to Fernandina which she has already alluded to. We may still get cell phone throwing since he is a world champion and might not like being controlled so much. I still can't figure out why 15 years of no advances is okay with cigarman Artemio. He should just show up at the hacienda, he could wipe out half the family with second or third hand smoke.
So is the milk just disreputable because it will be powdered or is it actually adulterated like the bad tequila in Destilando Amor, guess we will see.
Ibarramedia, Thanks for the youtube links
But once again, Juan Querendon was comedy. Right now there is one airing here called "Un Gancho en el Corazón", wich I'll admit I find hilarious, produced by Angelli Nesma Medina (Al diablo con los guapos) that has seemed to follow the same trend with great results.
Are you in Mexico yourself? If so, how come you're following along with our forum, which is months behind? Thanks for your interesting comments, and I hope you continue.
I can somewhat understand why Destilando didn't do well in Mexico. Lengthy portions of it seemed to be intended for prospective tourists and tequila enthusiasts, and were somewhat documentary-like. Interesting to me, for sure, but probably really dull for the Mexican audience!
Very few people had cell phone then and they were the size of a brick. Lol. Cigarman gets a break for that.
So now we know that our dearest Babs is like a sleeper agent. I can't believe that for 15 years, there had been no significant activity. Then all of a sudden it resumes. I like Babs or rather the woman playing her. Those eyes with the deep mascara lines are irresistible. And she lost some baby fat in her face...Former Fuego viewers must think I have questionable taste in women. LMAO. ;) I think she may turn good in the future or she may be related to one or the other of the protagonists..... i'm reluctant to see beautiful girls as bad guys. :)
There are numerous mistakes in the Harvard football scene to the trained eye. We all know they got the uniforms wrong and used some colors being used by the Miami Dolphins. In reality it is a generic football uniform with no real team markings. It is rare that they have a quarterback do tackling drills, which were in awful form btw. Unless that QB throws a great deal of interceptions.
You don't say ready 1,2,3. Line calls are usually Hut, Hike ,Go on 1,2, or 3 depending on the snap count and terminology of the offensive system. He's on shutgun formation and picking up a horrible snap . i think the ball even hit the ground before he got it. Bad throw btw. It would have been better if they did NOT shoot a football scene. Football Rant/Off. Sorry, having played the game You notice this things.
I'm not sure what the argument was about powdered milk vs fresh milk. I did not catch that. Powdered milk is cheaper and not as popular in the US, but it exists...
Gotta say that Babs has not aged a bit. :) Looking real good while Anibal looks like her dad. And she is the stepmom.
I'm having trouble with the logic of marrying a childhood girl who you have not seen since the 2nd or 4th grade.(First holy communion is usually in 2nd grade)and then no communication due to the hidden letter of course. I mean they did not even recognize each other after Fernanda splashed mud over Eduardo's clothes.. It would seem she has moved on and he did not. After all these years. And he never messed around with other girls while in the states.
I find Babs move when sneaking around interesting. Especially the way she backpedals and whatnot. The stairs in the Big house nad the second floor look hauntingly similar. Almost like a deja vu. :)
The dialogue seems to be a little harder to follow and I get what most of you are saying about Fernanda talking fast. almost as fast as Marichuy talks. But more understandable than Columbians.
I checked out wikipedia and someone altered the number of episodes listed. It is now 120 as opposed to 330. I don't know what is really true...
Ibarramedia
So, I think the conflict is between Papá and Fernanda's desire to make the traditional, labor-intensive type of cheese and the plot between Anibal and Barbinator to use cheap powdered milk in the product to raise profits. Or Barbinator plans to get them to adulterate the quality of their products and then reveal this to ruin them, not sure if that's the ultimate goal.
