MEPS, April 14th - Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust, Gardenia's a Pain, But She's Got A Nice Bust

Capitulo 41

From last night: Dr. Matamentes gives Martina her nurses’ uniform so she can look like a real staff member. Freduardo explains to Jacinto that Martina is caring for Lili. Jacinto tells Freddie that Fernanda is looking for him and he feels pressured. Freduardo says he’s going to give Nanda news of “himself” tomorrow.

Ciro’s wife and son come to visit, and the Doc and Adolfina leave them alone with Ciro, against Adolfina’s better judgment. Mommy and Sonny Boy lock the door and try to get Ciro to sign a will. Mommy has also brought an ink pad to take Ciro’s fingerprints and put them on the will. I guess you need fingerprints to make a will valid in Mexico. Sonny Boy compliments her resourcefulness.

Camilo’s reading a horsey magazine and sees a picture of Errorika’s Daddy that says Don Agustin is Saleroso’s new owner. Cadmilo calls Errorika and says she had her father give Franco the horse just to go out with her. She tells him he’s a pig (which he is) and says Franco made her father a great offer for the horse, and she hangs up on him. Just then, Cad’s doorbell rings, and wouldn’t ya know, it’s Natasha with a strappy minidress on, and a very lovely and elegant neck brace. (Love the way her long, dangly earring twinkle alongside the neck brace!). Natasha stomps into the apartment looking pissed. He asks how she is and she’s mad because he sent her to the hospital after she fell of the horse with a chauffeur. He sweet talks her and she crumbles like a house of cards. They start makin’ out like 16 year olds.

Wow – it’s dinner time once again at the Elizalde home – these people put the “fun” back in dis”fun”ctional. (I always get the dinner table recaps!) But, apparently dinner is over and Tomasa has just served desert. Dryly, Barb asks what it is, and Tomasa announces that it’s Pastel de Elote (Cornbread) that Senorita Aurora has prepared. Aurora says it’s a very simple dish and she hopes they like it. AnyBalls wants to talk about Nanda’s upcoming meeting with Franco Santoro, but Daddy Gonzo says no business talk at the table. Barb comments that Nanda must’ve had a hard day, having gone to see Lili and all. Dad asks if Lili knows anything about Eduardo and Nanda says no. AnyBalls says they should hire a private detective to find Eduardo but Damian puts the kibosh on that real quick. Santiago says they should discuss more agreeable topics, like why did their stepmother give Soledad’s house away to the chauffeur? (Ten points to Santiago!) Nanda and Daddy Gonzo are shocked and Nanda asks why she did that. Barb chokes up some fake tears and says she loves Nanda and that she’s just trying to protect her from Eduardo. Barb pushes her plate away and goes to leave, but stops and gives them a giant guilt trip, saying you all go ahead and eat, she feels bad. But as soon as she’s out of the dining room she shoots a look that could kill.

Our gorgeous Francuardo is sitting by the fire looking – yeah, well, gorgeous. He’s thinking about how tomorrow Fernanda will be damned by the memory of Eduard Juarez.

Damian and Nanda are in her bedroom again and he tries to kiss her but she pushes him away again, and says she wants their first night together to be unforgettable. She asks for one more day. (I think it’ll be a lot longer than that.) Damian leaves.

Morning comes and Aurora is loitering in the foyer area of the house ready to leave with her little duffle bag, when Camilo shows up wearing the most stupid jacket I’ve ever seen a grown man wear. She says she’s just waiting for Santiago to say goodbye to Fernanda and then they’re leaving. He moves uncomfortably closer to her and asks if she’ll be back. He gives her a kiss on the cheek. He makes up a lie about Santiago thinking everything is a big joke, including women, that’s just the way artists are, but he’ll be there to console her when she gets back. He blows her a kiss and leaves. Incredibly, she actually looks like she’s doubting Santiago’s sincerity after hearing Cad’s bullshit.

Santiago and Nanda are saying goodbye, and he says he hopes that she finds Eduardo. He says he knows she’s still in love with him and that she should fight for that love. He leaves and she takes the paper Eduardo wrote his name on out of her purse and thinks perhaps Santiago is right – she kisses the paper like a 7 year old girl.

Frankie is up and about at Las Animas, still plotting.

Dr. Matamentes comes in to check on Lili and Martina starts yelling at him because the shot that he gave Lili the night before hasn’t worn off yet. He says everyone’s metabolism is different, but what would she know about such things and he leaves.

Freddie’s on his way out the door but Gardenia tries to stop him for breakfast, He tells her he’s in a hurry and that he’s not going to be around much, so why doesn’t she take a couple of days off. She tries to put up a fight, and because he’s in a rush he tells her just to stay and they’ll talk about it later. He leaves and she giggles. Looks like she’s got the hots for Senor Santorito! Wait till she finds out who he really is! BTW, a new “Manana Es Para Siempre” song played during this scene, anybody else notice? Must the “Gardenia’s In Love” theme.

Damian and Nanda are having breakfast alone talking about their honeymoon. Tomasa walks in with a telegram for Nanda. She opens it to find nothing more than a phone number and Eduardo Juarez’ name. Damian is not a happy camper.

Jacinto is exercising Saleroso when Gardenia shows up to tell him Cadmilo has just arrived to see him.

Dumian says by the phone number it looks like Eduardo is nearby. He pulls out his phone and tries to get her to call the number and clear up her doubts once and for all. She doesn’t want to call – most likely because she doesn’t want to call in front of Damian. Damian is really mad now - OMG, they are teasing us! I thought for sure he was going to smash the phone down on the floor but he threw the napkin that was in his other hand instead! Damn! SO CLOSE to the first official phone smashing! He walks out and Nanda is left alone at the table.

Damian is now on the phone yelling at Barbara how Nanda got the telegram from Eduardo. He explains how Nanda wouldn’t make the call and just get it over with. She tells him to go with Nanda if she goes to see Eduardo. After she hangs up she thought bubbles that she and the ‘bastardo” will meet face to face.

At the little church in San Rafael, the phone rings and it’s Nanda calling. She asks where she’s called and the woman says it’s the Parroquia San Rafael (Catholic School). Nanda asks for Eduardo, but the woman tells her nobody is there but the Padre Bosco, and Nanda asks to speak with him. The woman tells the Padre but he tells her to tell Nanda that he can’t talk right now, that she should call back later.

Cadmilo wants to speak with Jacinto alone and Gardenia leaves, but hides behind a bush to listen. Cadmilo wants Jacinto to be his spy on Franco Santoro and threatens him with the horse whip. He gets on Saleroso and says if he spies on Franco for him he’ll forget it was his fault his friend Natasha fell off the horse, Jacinto tries to protest, but Cad just screams at him and rides off. Gardenia is mad.

Eddie shows up to see Padre Bosco, who says he’s been waiting for him.

Prisci is back at the Clinica – she’s had a second pregnancy test done and she’s come back for the results.

The Padre is telling Eddie he feels guilty for going along with the plan to send Eddie away 15 years ago. He says he thought he was doing the right thing, but now he’s not so sure because he just got a call from Fernanda Elizalde. The phone rings and yup, it’s Fernanda calling again.

Jacinto is walking Saleroso back to the stable and Camilo is leaving. Gardenia starts in again with her questions. Okay, she’s really pretty, but she is extremely annoying!

Nanda tells the Padre about the telegram with just the phone number and Eduardo’s name on it. Padre tells her to hold on, covers the phone and tells Eduardo that as soon as he’s off the phone Eduardo’s got some ‘splainin’ to do! Nanda tells the Padre she thinks that Eduardo hates her and her family and wants to see Eduardo right away. He asks how soon can she get there, and that she she won’t have to look for Eduardo anymore because she’ll find him there. Eddie doesn’t look too happy with the Padrecito.

Fernanda comes downstairs ready to leave and finds Damian in the foyer. He kisses her and asks for forgiveness. She tells him that she’s on her way to see Eduardo. He wants to go with her but she says she prefers to go alone. Damian angrily says he hopes this will put an end to all this once and for all.

The Padre is talking to Eduardo about his mother, Soledad, and what an admirable woman she was. He says she knew the best thing for him was to send him far away. Eduardo doesn’t understand what good it did if it left him with an empty soul. The Padre says he’s wrong, that his soul is filled with bitterness, resentment and hopelessness. Eduardo asks how he would feel if he were accused of practically being a rapist, and taken away from his mother and his friends at only 12 years old. Padre says he’s not judging, but he doesn’t think what Eduardo is doing is right. He says he loves him like a son and is very proud of him. He doesn’t doubt that Eduardo was mistreated. Eduardo says he understands now that he doesn’t have the Padre’s support. The Padre says what Eduardo is asking him to do is very hard for a priest to do. He says he’ll tell him again, that Eduardo has to distinguish the difference between vengeance and justice. Eduardo asks if the Padre new about the letter that his mother left with Liliana, and he answers only with that Fernanda will arrive any minute. I guess that means he knows about the letter. Now Eddie knows he’s backed the priest into a corner and tells him he’ll count on him. I’m not so sure I like the idea of forcing a priest into this stuff.

Nanda is arriving at the church. Damian is on the phone with Barb and she’s furious when she finds out that Dumian let Nanda go see Eddie alone. He says Nanda wanted to go alone and besides, what does she want him to do, threaten her with a gun or what? Barb says Fernanda’s not such a saint after all, she obviously hasn’t forgotten her feelings for Eduardo. Damian hangs up on her – he’s obviously jealous. Barb calls him back and tells him never to hang up on her again, but he denies doing it, saying they got cut off. She tells him never to forget that she decides everything.

AnyBalls is nagging Daddy again about wanting to talk to Fernanda about her appointment with Franco. He says it looks bad that Fernanda is putting it off. Barb walks in and tells them Nanda has gone to meet Eduardo.

Nanda walks into the church office looking for the Padre – the senora goes to find him.

Lili is finally waking up and asks Martina about Ciro. Frick (or Frack) comes in and tries to intimidate Martina, but Martina punches him in the back when he tries to give Lili her pill – Frick gets scared and leaves.

Nanda tells Padre Bosco that she hasn’t had one moment of peace since Eduardo ruined her wedding. He tells her he understands and that she and Eduardo have a lot to clear up. She doesn’t understand what Eduardo has against her and her family. She asks where Eduardo is. He says that when Eduardo first came back to town he came to see him.

Errorika is calling Las Animas looking for Franco and Gardenia tells her he’s not home. Errorika doesn’t want to leave her name and says she’ll call back later. She thinks to herself how badly she wants to see him again.

At the Grupo Lactos office Prisci has come to see AnyBalls. She hands him the envelope with her pregnancy test results. She tells him he better get happy because she’s pregnant. He says he can’t understand and doesn’t remember what happened that night at that place. She proceeds to explain that the woman at the bordello only “relaxed” him, but the person he really had sex with was her. (I guess that ends all our doubts about turkey basters and other methods of collecting the “tortured renderings”!) He says he doesn’t remember anything. She tells him he drank a very strong cocktail of aphrodisiacs. He asks Prisci if she understands what this means and she says yes, and she also knows that she can’t count on him for anything.

Padre Bosco and Nanda are walking arm in arm, and he tells her that Eduardo has requested that his remains are placed next to his mothers. She isn’t believing what she’s hearing. He tells her Eduardo’s ashes are next to Soledad’s. She still isn’t getting it. Padre shows her the niche with Soledad’s AND Eduardo’s name on it. Eduardo is DEAD. She cries and breaks down on the floor.

Previews: Vlad has come to see Damian about Prisci and Damian tells him Prisci is not going to leave AnyBalls because she’s pregnant – Vlad gets a glimmer in his eye. Martina hold a knife to Dr. Matamentes’ throat. Padre Bosco tells Nanda that Eduardo had an unexplainable car accident. Wow – that is a big lie for a priest to tell. Lili goes to see Ciro.

Melissa, thank you so much for the super fast recap!

I can't believe he did that! SO WRONG! How can he let her believe he is dead? Is he completely mental? How can the priest do that to her? Ack! Beyond wrong! He's more then a flawed hero now.

"Appreciate your description of FELS Ibarramedia. Have you also seen a DVD of Pasion? If so, is it any good? Thanks."

Khalilah, I have the Pasion dvd. It is very good. It has no English subtitles though. The only thing I did not like was the fate of Lisabeta. It has been discussed exhaustively in the Pasion thread.

You have to love how Martina snatches the uniform from Dr. Plutarco Obregon. Maybe we should call him Dr.Pluto instead. And about the freaking finger prints. When did that replace a signed signature on a document? Maybe Mexican law permits that. It seems as archaic as having someone sign their name as an 'X'.

Erika should just tell Camilo to never call her again. BTW when did Camilo have his own hideaway? He has his own Sanctum Santorum, Fortress of Solitude and Batcave all rolled into one. Natasha should have kneed the bastard on his balls. Maybe that's why his brother Aniballs is shooting blanks.

The half moon is out and it is dinnertime, You just have to love how Babs can turn on the waterworks and can as quickly turn them off. Anyone feel like giving Babs a hug? **Raises hand** nice to hug a busty woman like she was tonight. ;) j/k

We see the sunrise and it is morning. Aurora is wating for Santiago. Camilo tries to hit on her. She should have slapped him after he tried to kiss her.

At the breakfast table Damian almost blows a gasket after seeing the telegram about Eduardo. I'll bet all of you gals in the peanut gallery will cheer if he finally smashes a cell phone. LMAO. :)

Jacinto will never spy on 'Franco Santoro. Ed/Fr should just formalize the hiring of Jacinto in a fulltime basis. He should tell Camilo, i've decided to keep him on my staff fulltime with higher pay.

I love how Bab breaks Damina's balls about hanging up on her. Ha! that should teach him. He was attempting to grow a backbone.

Back at the Manicomio, I loved how Martina gave frack a kidney punch. Frack kind of looks asian instead of aztek...

This is the most grueling scene of all. It was painful to watch simply because Fernanda is hurting in so many ways than one. How can Eduardo justify doing that to her? I wanted to hug Fernanda and kiss her. The poor girl.....

I guess we should have a poll: Eduardo Juarez Cruz, Hero or anti-hero?

Ibarramedia

Melissa...will wait to read your recap until I see the show, but I always love your titles. Both you and Julia (Cuidado) consistently come up with "winners". As I scroll down to check the thread on my recap I suffer a serious case of "title envy". My editor once told me the headline was the most important part of the story and you've notched some great ones.

Thanks, Melissa. Yikes !!! What is Fr/Ed doing ? He is just getting deeper and deeper in trouble, but I guess that is the telenovela formula...lots of dumb moves that drive the storyline. Have you noticed that Cad's face and hair are the same color ? Weird. And, how pushy to come to Fr/Ed's place, yell at Jacinto, and ride Fr/Ed's horse. He needs some straightening out.

I think Eduardo doing what he did is unexcusable and the writers doing this soap in such poor taste. They are really making a guapo, adoring, sweet man into a horrible uncaring, vengeful animal. Even the handsomeness of his face is changing to an angry and bitter person. Right now I do not like him at all. Not just in the Soap, but in general. The feelings of hopelessness and helplessness that Fernanda must feel. AND if she were to then patch up her romance with Damian for a while and consummate their marriage, it will all be Eduardo's fault, for keeping this farse going for so long and convincing her that he is dead. Last night was so upsetting, I need to avoid watching the Soap until Fernanda gets over the supposid death a little; however, I will read the recaps. Ret

Well, I can already see tonight's excuse to Dam for not doing the deed : ''Can't you see how upset I am about my olf friend's death ?'' Bizarre. I agree that the writers are making the galan very unheroic. Likewise in Amor Real, Manuel was not always a nice person. He shoved his wife, her aunt, and the maid around when he thought his wife was pregnant by her novio. Very unhero-like. Even when he repented, I couldn't forget how violent he was towards those women. Basta !!! However, Luis in Alborada never showed any aggression toward women. He even made arrangements to care for his ex-mistress and suffered with his crazy, frigid wife. On the other hand, he did sleep with and later seduce a married woman, but .....Sometimes these novelas make it hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys.

Thanks for the detailed recap Melissa. I was watching this through migraine induced haze (more rain coming) and missed a lot. First of all somebody should shack Carmil-ho upside the head. He is just gross and such a bully. I hope Jacinto beats the snot out of him later or he gets stomped by a horse. How rude to go to somebody's house and ride their horse and just be a pain in the butt.

As for Fr/Ed he's being a giant A-hole right now. Fernanda did nothing to him so I can't figure out why he is being so cold and nasty to her. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Regarding Martina--nurses uniform $40. White pantyhose $5. Kidney punching someone twice your size and making him run away--priceless!

Great picture Molly!

Melissa, once again a snappy, entertaining recap of another rousing episode. It looks like the good Dr. O and his goons are going to need a daily Sunday School lesson and what better instructor than Martina? And speaking of Martina, I almost wept with joy when she held up and gently stretched out the white pantyhose. Nurses(one of my favorite species) don't often dress like nurses anymore. Even the crisp starched white caps are seemingly out of favor(sigh). Also good to see Ciro on the mend. That guy is a survivor.

Carlos

Carlos, how would you like to wear that silly cap on your head! It's pretty goofy.

Connie, it's a guy thing. You wouldn't understand.

Carlos

That did it. Fern will have to fall in love with Franco 'cause she shore ain't going to love Edwardo anymore, dead or alive. He done nailed that coffin shut - as the olde folks used to say.

I don't fully understand why the Priest went along with this move!

Now I'll go read our marvelous Melissa's recap. I know it will bring a smile so I recover from my growling mood over FrEd.

Wow, thank you for the great recap, Melissa. I now have a better idea of how some of those conversations went. ;-) Fantastic title, too!

ITA about Cadmilo's stupid jacket...if you can call it that. It looked more like a cardigan--something from 'Dumb and Dumber'. He's such a jerk (to put it mildly). I wanted Saleroso to throw him, or at least kick him.

I can NOT believe the priest went along with the Eduardo Is Dead scheme. Did this happen in Pura Sangre, too? Telenovela Beanie Hat is on, with chin strap in place!!!

Martina's mud wresting skills are coming in so handy. What a woman.

How long can the un-consummated wedding last??? I mean, really! Forget throwing cell phones. I think we'll see Damian throwing furniture.

Ah Carlos, one of those fantasy things like the French Maid outfit!Ha!

Melissa, have you already forgotten Don Ricky's snake-adorned jacket in FEL

Carlos

I don't remember what Cadmil-ho's jacket looked like. I thought he was just wearing a leather jacket. Ricky's jacket was awful.

Our anti-hero Eddy has really done it now. What a horrible thing to do to INNOCENT Nanda!. This, affter the second time that Fr. Bosco admonishes him to distinguish between vengance and justice; then said padre goes along with it! WTF!?!

Just one rung down the ladder is Cadmil-ho. He was really showcased last nite. Apparently, he hadn't seen Natasha since stuffing her into the ambulance, but she shows up at his pleasure palace for a wrestling match wearing a neckbrace. Those earrings must serve as valves to let some of the excess air out of her head. Then, our Cad stops by the neighbor's to threaten/cajole Jacinto, then steals Eddy's horse!?! At least Errorika gave him a real pedacitio of her mind- the dig about Santoro having his own $, and not being a parasite on his daddy. Oh, alsmost forgot the repusive scene with Aurora. (I'll have to utube to look at the jacket). All-in-all, a series of less than flattering glimpses of our characters, but the best was Santiago's single line asking about Soledad's house! Loved that and truly LOL...

I didn't get "avances" last night- looks like something to look forward to...

Almost forgot- thank you Melissa, great recap...

Great recap and title! I am unfamiliar with the actress who plays Fernanda but am very impressed by her playing her emotions. Great crying last night! I am wondering whether Eduardo believes that people are getting too close for comfort in trying to find him and, with Eduardo dead, people will forget about him and focus on other things, like business. Oh, I thought that cell phone was a goner last night.
Barbara from Mass.

When Damian finally does kill a phone, it had better be spectacular. Like crushing it with his bare hands, drowning it in a vat of spoiled milk, chucking into a fireplace, maybe jamming it down Bar's throat... but it had better not be just an angry toss.

Having just watched Alborada (thus the pic change Connie, thank you)I am having a real hard time with what went down last night. Luis was such a good guy. I was hoping for something better from Fr/Ed. We have seen him be great with Lili. He wants to take care of people, but his treatment of Nanda is beyond wrong. I felt the like writers should have had him standing somewhere where he could see what is lie cost. That is the other problem, he doesn't see what his actions cost. Everytime Nanda has a break down he isn't around. He didn't see her when Marg handed her the necklace. He got some during the wedding, but that was about his mother, not him. What a fool!

Even a shower scene can't make things better right now!

I think Cadmilo looks like Chaka from Land of the Lost. I hadn't that show and that creappy little monkey thing.

I agree Molly. If he had seen the way Nanda reacted to the pendant I think he would have felt bad. She's not the one that sent him away. He needs to take it out on Barb. What could his reasons be for that? I think Dam is building up to something really bad.

Connie, Eduardo thinks that fernanda never cared about him, because she never responded to his letters all those 15 years. Then she turns around and gets married. He is grieved that she went on with her life and forgot him; however, in reality, her letters to him and his to her, were blocked. Neither knows this.

Anon, I thought about the letters, but what he did last night is just beyond that!

Of course, now they have set her up to fall in love with Franco and then when it finally comes out who he really is it will split them apart! As it should! He is an ass!

Julie, I loved Electro Woman and Dyna Girl!

That's right thanks. I had forgotten about that. It makes sense then, I guess, but couldn't he just talk to her and see what is what?

I would like to see Dr. Pluto get his next. Despite the letters situation, Eduardo had no right to do that to Fernanda. I knew by doing this, he would be able to have the Elizalde family forget about him so that he can concentrate on his revenge. But still, there are other ways of doing that. Not at the expense of Fernanda being devastated. I think Jacinto has repeatedly told him how Fernanda hurts severely. That is why Margarita is against his activities.

A dark cloud hangs over his head now. I'm all for revenge against everyone in that family. But leave Fernanda and Liliana out of it.

Ibarramedia

Carlos, Ferro, Dorado, Ibarramedia, and the rest of the men, I just knew you guys were going to love that nurse's uniform - and the white panty hose even! I immediately thought of all of you guys!

I think it's a credit to Colunga's acting that we can love him and really not like him at the same time. I'm more upset about the priest going along with it all. How many Our Fathers and Hail Marys would have to be said for that!

Carlos - LOL about Ricky's leather jacket. Actually I had forgotten, but even though the snake jacket was horrible, it fit Ricky's persona. Cadmilho's jacket looked like something Little Lord Fauntleroy would wear!

Molly, Electro Woman and Dyna girl just brought me back to my childhood fantasies. I did not even realize that ElectroWoman was Deidre Hall. She was and is still hot. After all these years and looking at that link, i'm thinking I can't beleive it was so cheesy.

Ibarramedia

My burning question is, what is Martina going to do about breakfast, lunch, and dinner?!

My hope is the writers choose to have Fr/Ed see the fallout from this. Damian is certainly not getting any soon. This should send Fernanda to her room on a good long crying jag. They have to let him see what he has done, even if he can't undo it yet! Its just wrong! He has to know he went to far damn it!

Melissa, I totally agree with you about FCs acting. All the hotness (of which there is a LOT) aside, the man can act. He is another one who has a very expressive face which is so important in TV.

Ibarramedia...how about Isis in her wispy little white dress? I had a huge crush on James West! I still watch Wild Wild West on TVLand.

Wild Wild West was awesome! I was thinking last night how expressive FC's face is. You certainly know where he stands. I sure wouldn't want to be his enemy!

I've given some thought to Franco's mindset. He believes Fern is lost to him forever because she is a married woman now. So his dastardly deception doesn't ruin what can never be, he is dead to/for her.
Thus his only goal is discover the secret... oh, and justice of course.

You're right Bonney! Also, isn't she the least bit worried about her father, Gepetto?

Thank you Melissa for the wonderful recap.
My work environment does expose me to pop vocabulary. It takes a little courage to express this opinion, but I would rather not read it here.

Preguntas - Does Freduardo have an overal game plan in mind that we are not privy to? Where are all the letters that Eduardo and Nanda sent to one another? Didn't Soledad save them? When those are found, don't you think there will be quite a shift in feelings in both Fr/Ed & Nanda? As for Cadmilo, he is so sleazy. I hope the writers have a very special end for him. Sylvia

Thanks once again Melissa for a super recap.

Sorry but I feel no sorrow for Nanda. She was over 21 and able to get back and forth to Madrid so why in world didn't she look for Ed before consenting to marry Damhim? She forgot about him long ago. As far as Ed is concerned he thinks everyone is out to get him, except Lil. At this point I don't think he can trust anyone. At every turn he sees evil. He probably thinks everyone in that family has gone over to the dark side. I also think that Padre is have a real guilt trip for not putting a stop to all of the evil long ago. The only family he has had all these years is Steve! Do you suppose that Barbie continues to go the practice range with her pistol?

rsk

Thanks for your always entertaining recaps, Melissa. Was that a riding outfit Cadmilho was wearing....it looked like black scrunchy tights and one of those T shirts that are made to look like a tuxedo but black with white piping with long sleeves and made from heavier material. Anyway, he is a creep and a sadist and he needs to be stomped by a horse or whipped with his own riding crop.

Yes, our hero has turned to the dark side. The priest, against his better judgment, is trying to help Eddie but he is hurting poor Fernanda. Still more effective than Pad Tad as someone mentioned. GinCA

A lying priest, solamente en vida real, didn't think that happened on TN's. I thought at first that I didn't understand what was being said. Then I thought maybe Fr/ed's padre was also Eduardo Juarez, but the plaque said Eduardo Juarez Cruz, so it's supposed to be our Fr/ed.

Probably, Fr/ed wants the fact that he is dead to get back to Babs. My hero can do no wrong!. But pobrecita Fernanda.

Hot sex with a neck brace!? Back to el hospital. I don't see Camilo as a gentle, caring lover. I doubt I will ever like the actor that plays this part. I think he told Aurora that Santiago would drop her when he was through with her, since he takes everything as a joke.

I don't think the fingerprints will work for a will, he could have already been dead. An x is ok with 2 witnesses.

I found the meaning of parroquia to be parish.

Tks so much for clearing up the things for me. I had a problem with the conversation between Padre Bosco & Fr/ed & also with Camilo & Jacinto, even with captions.

Jacinto has to keep working for the Elizalde's, so we finally see him getting even with the gilipolla (love that word) Cadmilo.

"My work environment does expose me to pop vocabulary. It takes a little courage to express this opinion, but I would rather not read it here."

Bonney - I'm sorry, but I'm not following what you're referring to. Can you explain please? Thx.

And Melissa, that cow motif in your pic cracks me up though it is cute and I wouldn't mind more cows in my kitchen and roosters too. GinCA

Thanks Melissa. I think I noticed it the other time, too. You get different previews than we do. I know earlier, we got the normal avances before the ending credits and some more after the ending credits. For quite some time now, we only get the ones after the ending credits. Looks like some more good stuff coming tonight. Anyway...
Wow, a new day! I suppose this day will end maybe next Monday or Tuesday. I guess it does save on the costume budget. :-)
Ibarramedia, looks like you have your hands full comforting Babs and Nanda. Glad to see someone is taking care of them. :-)
A new day and was wondering how Camilo got up so early, but looks like maybe not that early as other people were already at work and everyone doing things. I thought Jacinto just have just ran Saleroso right over the top of Cadman, but no such luck. If he comes over again, we need Fr/Ed to drag him off the horse and give him a good talking to.
Just not right for Fr/Ed to cause so much pain to Nanda, but then, how is he to know she would take it so bad. She is married. I replayed the padre talking to her to see if he actually said Eduardo was dead and he didn't actually say it. He mentioned the ashes of Eduardo, but could have just been some ashes Eduardo had? Also, when Nanda asked if he was dead, the padre didn't say anything other than nod/point. Thought he was trying to maintain himself some deniability. But, reading Melissa previews, looks like he is throwing that out the window. Bad padre, wasn't even said in confession! That always worked for padre Tad, but not happening here.
Connie: "Regarding Martina--nurses uniform $40. White pantyhose $5. Kidney punching someone twice your size and making him run away--priceless!" Now that was priceless, love it!
Damian is not throwing phones, but he has been throwing quite a few things.
Molly: "Even a shower scene can't make things better right now!" So you are now throwing Fr/Ed out with the shower water? I'm sure others will be happy to take up your share of him.
Good job by Martina, so much for Frick and Frack getting sympathetic and helping her out. I have to think she will eventually need help and food.

Thanks for a great recap, Melissa, and a terrific title!

I agree with the other guys, Martina looks great in the nurse costume (oops, I mean uniform).

So, what's wrong with Fr/Ed? Well, that darn Fernanda just kept asking questions, of Jacinto, of Margarita. There's no way he could have kept up his "plan" with all of that. So by declaring himself dead, he figures she will stop asking around, and he'll be able to find out who's behind all the "evil" and avenge his mother once and for all (and "save" the family, whatever that means). Yes, it's dishonest, and Fer is going to suffer. But he was already dishonest. She was already suffering. He was already gonna get a ton of criticism when she found out Franco was Ed. So, from a strategic point of view, it does make sense.

As for Ciro and the fingerprints, every country (and in the U.S., every state) has different requirements for legal documents, wills, etc. In Maryland, you can sign a deed with an "X", but there are additional witness requirements. I doubt that a will signed with fingerprints, with the only witnesses being the ones who inherit under the will, would be upheld in most U.S. jurisdictions.

I see rsk's point. Fernanda seems to think the wrong man is better than no man. Fr/Ed was devasted when he returned and found she had "moved" on - to a man she doesn't love, but married anyway while at the same time being attracted to a man she just met. Add to that the death of his mother and his heartbreak was complete. They are both flawed characters. Now, let's see who is more comforting in helping Fernanda deal with the loss of her true love that she couldn't wait for or look for, Fr/Ed or Damian?

The first telenovela I watched was Alborada so what drew me in was the great acting; and of course the great mystery, period costumes and sets, everything different. The actor that captivated me naturally had a pretty face - don't they all? - but I felt his acting was extroidinary, at least in my experience. Everyone in that telenovela was brillant I thought.
It wasn't until the Chippendale scene late in the telenovela that I was frozen with admiration of what a beautiful body that great actor has.
I guess I'm saying this to say he is a great actor. He probably is not concerned with the appearance of being a faultless hero. I imagine he wants to portray a person, good and bad. Now the test is whether he can keep the audience on his side and pull off the bad.

Well, he's got me.

JeffMN, I said A shower scene wouldn't make up for it. Three might! And a bubble bath!

Rsk, you have a point. I was swayed by Nanda's tears, but she is a big girl and she could have looked for him. If she didn't have bars on her window he could play ghost of Ed! I would let him haunt me.

I think Fr/Ed and Jacinto will use Cadmillos demand for a spy to their advantage.

Oh. Melissa I was referring to the bull___ term.

Melissa, thanks for the recap and for providing a good take on those tricky conversations.
Some good stuff in this episode. I really wanted Cadmilo to be stomped by the horse. Martina's scene with the aide was indeed "priceless." Fernanda's breakdown was convincing and heartrending. Ed did have strategic reasons for his fake death, although it seems despicable for now.
La Paloma

Bonney, I loved Alborada! All of the acting was great, the characters were so good. And yes the Chippendales scene was, well, breath taking!

And these characters I don't think are anywhere near the shear stupidity that we ended up with in FELS where everything just went round and round forever!

A hero with flaws is not a bad thing, its human. I just would like him to see the reactions of the people he hurts, because I do think it would matter. I love all of his scenes with Lili because he is so kind and caring and so protective of her. FC gets to show a lot of depth and I'm sure as an actor he enjoys his job.

He's got me too, Bonney. Both Fr/Ed and Fernanda have a lot of 'splaining to do. Maybe it will end up like in "Gilda" where neither one will have to apologize as they were both such "stinkers" and boy, is "Gilda" one hot movie!

If he saw the results of his actions at this point in time there would be no story. LOL. His tenderness with Lili is proof of his heart, wounded though it may be. I feel that is how he and Fernanda might end up lovers: he will see the depth of her pain and he will want to soothe her. These characters are supposed to be in their mid 20's right? Emotional mistakes seem about right for that age, when passions rage and one can't see straight whether in love or enraged!!!

It goes back to what I said the other day about when Nanda was talking to her dad about visiting Lili. She's a big girl and if she wants to visit Lili she can. So in a roundabout way I agree that Nanda could have tried to locate Fe/Ed if she really wanted to. But then on the other hand she strikes me as a Daddy's girl, protected, sheltered, and not as mature as she should be.

Ahhh, ok Molly, I gotcha now. Perhaps a milk bath to make up? ;-)
Also, I'm thinking tonight Gardenia will probably tattle on Jacinto telling Fr/Ed what a traitor he is? :-)
JeffMN

Anon 2:14, he said he was 12 when sent away which puts him at 27 now and Nanda a little younger. I like your thinking about him comforting her. Obviously we all know they are hooking up at some point, so this would be a good jumping off point.

JeffMN, I'm sure there are many ways he could make it up to me! Chocolate milk bath maybe, yummy!

Speaking of costumes. I want Barb to take Fern shopping. The upcoming shows her in a simple short sleeved white Tshirt. GO shopping Fern. Take Effoika with you, or somebody. It could ease your pain :-}
Oh yeah, plan a memorial for Ed. Be sure to invite Franco so he can take Erroika out again.

GinCa - I forgot I had the cow motif picture up! LOL That's my SIL's kitchen in Mexico. I put it up there when we all realized that Las Copetonas, the mud-wresting bar had a cow motif!

I gotta find a new picture! LOL

Speaking of Natasha . . . do we in Viewerville have any idea WHO put the nails under her horse's saddle???

FWIW... my Mexican friend from Mex. City, D.F., and also a recovering Catholic, is appalled that el Padre is taking part in this massive lie about Eduardo's death. She has never (jamas!) seen this in a lifetime of watching telenovelas. ;-)

Doris, it looked to me like it was Lucio. He was running along watching it all unfold like he was expecting it. I thought BOW had him do it, but I think she was expecting it to be Erika who took the fall maybe?

Molly, I am embarassed to admit I had fantsies about Isis as a kid. She also did a crossover with Captain Marvel-Shazam.

Ginca, I was the one that mentioned Padre Bosco was more effective than Padre Tadeo. But now we see Padre Bosco being an enablker as opposed to Padre Tadeo being an ommiter.

Melissa, MArtina now has 2 sets of Nurses uniform/costume. It is better than what Er nurses wear. They wear scrubs nowadays....

rsk, I think Fernanda has not been back as much as we think re: back and forth from Madrid. I would geuss, she went back every 2 years or so. Other times, the family visits her there.... And with limited time and full family supervision, I doubt she could search for Eduardo..... Blocked opportunities. Add the fact that they were prevented form communicating to each other with the intercepted letters. Rightly or wrongly, Soledad takes the fall for that.

Molly and Connie, I asked the collective fels viewers late last year what the best telenovela ever made was since we all ridiculed them for being stupid yet we still watched. And you guys said Amor Real and Alborada, So i bought the dvds, watched and loved it along with Pasion which was my first show as I came in on it's last week last year. In fact, it is almost a year now....

We could use Jarocha's expert commnentary on everything here.
Of course Alondra and Ramona are highly recommended by you guys, but not available on dvd.

Ibarramedia

Lucio bragged to Barbara that he put the nail thing on Natasha's horse as Barbara requested.

Doris, Molly is right it was Lucio who put the nails in the horse saddle. I think it might have been Babs via Damian who orchestrated it.

Ibarramedia

Barbara wanted Erika to be with Camilo (I'm not sure why). She was not in favor of Natasha. When she was looking for Erika during the wedding, she was openly snotty to Natasha and Camilo. She said something like "where's your girlfriend" and when Camilo said "she's right here," Babs said "I was referring to Erika."

Doris, yes, it was Lucio and I believe Babs put him up to it. Molly interesting, I never thought that perhaps they wanted something to happen to Errika instead of Natasha. That's a thought.

On another thought, since Nanda now knows where Soledad is at, I wonder if now she'll push to have Soledad and Eduardo moved to the family crypt? That would raise a good ruckus. That would keep that first night with Damian to be delayed another few days, weeks worth of episodes for us!

JeffMN

Melissa: thanks for the great recap. I love your attention to detail and enjoyed your observations of Ursula and Mad-Cad.

The big surprise to me was that Aurora: "Incredibly... actually looks like she’s doubting Santiago’s sincerity after hearing Cad’s bullshit." I did not understand that at all - I thought she was pretty perceptive, apparantly not!

First we can't get Padre Tadeo to move a muscle to put an end to Feo's raping and murdering and now, we have a priest who's willing to lie that someone is dead! Yikes, so much for middle ground.

Great comments everyone.

Add my voice to those who feel Fernanda is hurting. I think this will play out as Pasion did - Fer will fall in love with Franco and then leave him when she discovers his true identity. The question is how long it will take her to forgive his subterfuge.

Diana in MA

Excellent recap Melissa. Eddie is so cruel to Nanda. My heart broke for her. The pain he is causing her. Once those letters are discovered me thinks Eddie will have some major graveling to do to gain Nanda's forgiveness. I couldn't believe that the priest went along with such a vicious lie and in the previews it ripped out Nanda's heart. Seems as though Vlad the impregnator will find out that he's going to be a father per the previews. He's going to use that information to blackmail Prissy me thinks. Damian is so close to smashing a phone and I can't wait. I howled when he hung up on Bab's. He was jealous. How long will Nanda keep putting him off to consumate their marriage before he cracks from pent up frustration. Loved Martina looking out for Lil and can't wait to see her put the fear of God on the Dr. O in tonight's show. Loved the title of the recap too. Funny.

To answer your questin Ibarramedia, I think Eddie is the anti-hero. He's so kind and caring with Lil but cold, heartless, and cruel toward Nanda the supposed love of his life. I feel torn about him on that aspect. I hate how he is treating Nanda but love how he is protective of Lil. I guess because he feels he and Lil were victims and he branded Nanda as guilty, indifferent, and cruel like the rest of her family. His anger toward Nanda is so misplaced and I hope he finds those letters soon. I don't know if I can take seeing Nanda crushed like last night and her wedding day again.

Ibarra...FELS was my first. At first I loved it, then I was amused by its stupidity and all of the great comments out here. It was a great guilty pleasure.

Just having finished Alborada, I am totally in love with it! Great characters, well acted, beautiful productiong with a solid story that was well paced. And of course, as mentioned above, the Chippendales scene. I just bought the DVD off Amazon yesterday because I had to have it! I'm hoping to get to Pasion next before Amor Real, why? Pirates of course!

JeffMN, I guess the question is was the tacks under the saddle idea set in place before the wedding? If BOW had already decided, then she was going after Erika. If she was mad at Camilho for bringing any scandle on the perfect day, then she meant it for Natasha. But then really that is just cruel because what did poor Natasha do but have the bad sense to get mixed up with Cadmilho.

Oh, before I forgot. Notice how on the ball magazines are in Mexico? This is still only a few days after the wedding. Indeed, Saleroso appears to be the present Errika got from papa. It has only been a few days since that happened, yet there is a big spread in Horses Monthly, cover even, about Saleroso being bought by Papa Errika.
JeffMN

I suppose Cadmilho never bid on the horse because he has no money? (*High five to Erroika*)

It was Lucio that put the thing under the horses saddle, 'cause Babs told him to. Not sure if is was to blame Jacinto or because she felt uncharacteristic sympathy for Erika. Erika's family is very wealthy so maybe some reasoning there.

Thanks everyone for clearing up my confusion about the nails under the saddle. I somehow missed that. So now I wonder why Babs would want Erika to be hurt, assuming she was the intended target?

I just bought Alborada and hope it will be here soon. My first was Destilando and then FELS and now Manana. I loved Destilando. FELS was so crazy it was entertaining. I'm warming up to Manana.

Connie, you will not be disappointed in Alborada!

Well, I really don't believe that Erika was the intended target. I think Babs wanted Natasha out of the picture.

Erika's family's money may have something to do with why Babs wants her with Camilo, or maybe it's just that keeping Erika happy and sort-of in the family will in turn make Fernanda happy. A happy Fernanda is more likely to stay out of Bab's way.

But now that Nat's back, and willing to make out with the boyfriend who evidently didn't visit her while she was laid up, we'll soon find out for sure what Babs thinks of her.

Connie:

I watched Alborada on DVD over the weekend and was totally captivated. I cannot remember who recommended the DVD but it was wonderful, you will not be disappointed. Be sure to watch the bloopers at the end, Lucero is a hoot! Also, read her bio online, she has been acting since she was a child. She is certainly a versatile actress.

I am a very conservation Catholic and have seen parish priests that are a lot more flawed than this Padre. I am sure he is trying to protect him from the evil that lurks. After all, he saw the pain that Soledad suffered and I am sure he knows more than he is telling at this point. In every family the elders keep all the secrets and how can a parish priest not know the what is going on?

I still cannot defend Nanda, at this point she is just as bad as Popi in blindly following Barbi. (If only they knew).

Damhim is not suffering too much, he is being serviced by Barbi!

rsk

Thanks for the recap Melissa and your title was great too.

As to the priest lying, I don't know if its a reflection of the times we live in currently or what but on Cuidado the priest told a lie also. He also shared information that while not from the confessional, was really personal and probably should not have been shared (particularly with the other person the padre shared it). Though I'm not Catholic, I was flabbergasted at these events.

Thanks, Melissa. Just a quick need to ventilate. Cadmil-ho is rackin' up the "you need yo ass whipped" points, bigtime. And Natasha. What a dumb broad! Cadmil-ho never went to see her while she was in the hospital, didn't send her flowers, even ask about her and there she is with her dumb ass trying to do a tonsilectomy on that jerk! They make a good couple.

Loved Martina's punctuation of her objection to Lili's meds with a punch to Frik but he's a big dude and he ain't going to forget that indignity. She'd better be careful!

A tee hee was that Fernanda's outfit kinda looked like it was designed by the nuns.

Not funny at all and heart-wrenching was her reaction to hearing that Eduardo had died. Oh my God, her pain was palpable, even now thinking about it I feel like crying. This Galan is going to have to do some fancy footwork and big time 'splainin. He is hurting Nanda so very, very deeply. I know he will win her back but Lord Have Mercy! Where was he when Nanda collapsed in grief on the floor at he and his mother's final resting place. If he could witness that. . .oh, it was so painful. Ok. Just had to get that off my chest.

Khalilah

Rsk, I agree with you. I think we have high expectations of our priets and the vows they take (I too am Catholic). But they are human and flawed, look at all the scandal over the last ten years. Maybe it is a sign of the times that the writers are allow novela priets to be flawed also.

That is in no way excusing anyones behavior, even in a made up story. Priets are in positions of great power. I know really wonderful priets and I have known some really awful ones.

I feel very sorry for Jacinto and Marguerita who now have to go along with the lie that Eduardo is dead, and watch Fernanda suffer. This revenge plan has been the hardest on them.

J.J.

I guess at least my really bad typo was consistent! LOL!

Don't be too critical of Natasha. It looks like Aurora may be heading for a fling with Camilo. The guy is simply irresistible to women. I know, I know, to none of you guys, that's because you can't smell him. Pheromones don't you know.

Carlos

Well, then that leaves Santigo for Gardenia! Really she is more fun anyway. They would be a cute couple.

And then Gonzo would have two children who are in love with people of a lower class...One foot in the grave and one on a banana peel!

Ibarramedia! Thanks for the info on Pasion, I watched it on tv but wondered if it was worth buying or hacked all to pieces.

You crack me up, you want to hug and comfort all the ladies, villians and damsels in distress all! And yeah, they're teasing us with the phone, ol A.H. Cadmillo actually kinda roughed one up last night. On another night Damian had a phone in one hand, a napkin in the other and he slammed down. . . . the napkin! Ha! Ha! He is getting his balls busted but I hope he doesn't take it out on poor Nanda, she's getting enough grief, Pobrecita!

Khalilah

Melissa: Thanks for the detailed recap.

Surely we'll find out that Father Bosco isn't really doing what we think he's doing right in front of us. Doesn't he mean that Eduardo requested that his ashes be placed next to his mothers --WHEN HE DIES. Sin of omission. Shame, shame.

Pasofino, yes seems like Father Bosco was omitting things with Fernanda, not actually saying Eduardo was dead. Trying to play along without outright lying. :-)
However, Melissa points to a preview that we didn't get in our area that would seem to say he went from omission to lying: "Padre Bosco tells Nanda that Eduardo had an unexplainable car accident. Wow – that is a big lie for a priest to tell. "
JeffMN

Carlos: "that's because you can't smell him. "
Are you sure? I think I can whenever he is on the screen. :-)
JeffMN

I was sitting here at my computer trying to think why we hate Cadmil-ho so much. And I think most women (over the age of let's say 30) have run across a Cadmil-ho type guy at some point in our lives and hate to see other women subjected to such a horse's ass. And besides that, he is such a scummy little cockroach.

You can spot those kind of guys a mile away.

Thanks so much Melissa for a terrific recap. I absolutely love it as much as I loved the real thing (capitulo). There are lots of great comments and I am definitely on the side of those who feel that Eddie's actions towards Nanda are cruel and wrong. His die hard supporters remind me of the type people that Jim Jones attracted to his cult in South Africa. They admired that man so much until they were able to make excuses for all the evil he did. Even when he made them kill their own children, they were brainwashed enough to do it. I can envision Eddie forming a cult where the inital attraction is unlimited looks at his body. As he started weaving a web of evil everyone would be too brainwashed to see anywrong in his actions and could justify how those who suffered at his hands deserved it. No thanks for now. I'll rejoin the fan club when he starts acting like a role model. His kind treatment of Lili doesn't cancel out his bad treatment of Nanda.

So it sounds like most of us are against him at this point. So what could he do to redeem himself?

Personally I dont' think anyone on this board should be compared to the Jim Jones cult tragedy.

So far we have only seen the start of Nanda's response, we have yet to see how he feels about what he has done or if he realizes all that he just did. I'm hoping that is what the writers give us next.

It is a compelling story and I am enjoying watching it. The FC eye candy is just like getting an extra scoop of ice cream with my pie!

What about Fernanda's treatment of her own husband? A man she most certainly is not in love with. That would most certainly make any person wonder about her character or lack thereof. Damian is a bad guy so we feel he is getting what he deserves, but what type of woman marries a man while desiring another?

What can Eddie do to redeem himself? He can start by altering his approach and stop intangling his childhood friends and his college friend (Esteve) in his personal vendetta. Enough is enough!

The pain for Fernanda would appear to be the loss of Eduardo. To me, that would have to be reconciled somewhat with her being married to someone else as well as the feelings she is having for the stranger Franco Santoro. Not sure where I am going with this, but she is having a range of feelings for a few different men.
One way for him to redeem himself (not going to happen) would be that he is watching and he pops out and begs forgiveness because he did not know the terrible pain that his actions was going to cause.
I don't think he still realizes that Nanda is just not a bad person and still has feelings for him and the feelings she had for Soledad. Time for him to take off his blinders and see how he is affecting the woman he loves.
JeffMN

Thanks for another great recap! Loved seeing Martina give that big bully bull nurse a beating!

Molly et al... I am only addressing "the here and now". We all know that Eddie is going to redeem himself and that his friends will find that their loyalty is well rewarded. BUT... I'm commenting on what's happening here and now and basing how I feel about him on that. My enjoyment of a telenovela or movie is greatest when it evokes a wide range of emotions about the different characters. How many times do you hear people make comments like "I didn't like him at first but later in the movie I did". To carry one idea about any character without allowing any wiggle room is not my style. If the actors main thing was being liked, we wouldn't find any willing to play bad guy roles. If die hard fascination on his looks was all that Colugna wanted, I don't think he would have had that one crying scene or that he would have accepted this controversial role period.

Evven casual viewers can't help but feel sorry for Fernanda. She is trully a victimhere. More so than Eduardo. Because Eduardo is unjustly punishing her. I mean how can a guy be mean to such a lovely girl?

A dark cloud has come upon them in the form of Eduardo aka Franco Santoro. The road to his redemption lies in his winning back Fernanda's heart. With Forgiveness and love comes repentance and self flagellation. This is what he must do imho.

Molly and Connie, you are not going to bleieve me when I tell you that I got Alborada for $6 with free shipping. I purchased Alborada, Amor Real and Pasion on ebay at the same time last November. My lunch cost more than that $25 at the restaurant.

Since this is a Televisa production, why is the RCN Columbia logo shown during the end credits?

I don't think that Babs will be using her gun again. And it has been 15 years since she last practiced on the range. I think they just did that pseudo James Bond opening to hook the viewers in. This is more of a drama than action series. You would see more action watching El Pantera.

Ibarramedia

Anon 05:58 you ask what type of woman would marry one man while desiring another. I refuse to answer that. Since biblical times women have been held to a higher moral standard than men. During the stoning of the woman at the well, that is what prompted the biblical quote "let him who is without sin cast the first stone."

But I will say this. If I were offended by any of the characters morals, I don't think I would enjoy watching the TN.

Let me rephrase that: what type of person would marry someone while desiring someone else. I was being specific to this character and not about women in general. If she still had feelings for him why marry another man? She needs to look deep into her own soul as much as he does. I'm not offended by their morals. I think they are both flawed characters.

I think Fernanda had some serious family pressure to marry Damian. (Babs and Gonzo) Love her or not, she is family now as las madrasta.

Besides there is no Eduardo in the picture to stop that. And that is precisely why Babs wanted her to marry Damian. To ensure that there will be no Eduardo-Fernanda marriage. It does not matter if it was Babs, Gonzalo or Montserrat if she were alive.... All three would move heaven and earth for them never to marry.

So what we have is Fernanda telling herself and trying to convince herself that she is in love with Damian. But her unconsious self tells her otherwise. Even the so-called free spirit and artist Santiago noticed this in his younger sister. He attempted to play psychologist to get to the bottom of her feelings and the doubts that she seems to show. Especially with her hesitation to give herself up to Damian sexually.

This is another reason why we see a manifestation of her conscience. There is an inner struggle going on in her heart and mind about the issue of 'is she really in love with Damian or Eduardo'. A greek tragedy in the making with shades of the count of monte cristo.

MEOOOOWWW MEOOOWWWW.

Ibarramedia

Connie~~~Let's see...what could Fr/ed do to redeem himself??? Well, I'm off on Fridays, and........ Nevermind. Also, you are so right about the Cadmillos out there in the real world. You can spot them a mile away. Bleccch. And Jeff: i, too, can smell Cadmillo...right through the screen....I think it's the smell of his ginormous , pulsating ego.

I don't think it's unusual for the priest to be a little flawed. As someone pointed out, the one in Cuidado has not been totally honest. And in Pasion, the Archbishop himself helped out Ricardo with a bunch of lies or half truths as to who he really was. I think they're trying to show us that priests are human, but try to do what's right and help the good win out (although it's hard to see how lying about Fr/Ed can be seen to be doing what's right).

Why we hate Camilo so much: I can't speak for others, but if I thought I was engaged to someone and then he showed up at my best friend's wedding with a date, that would do it. Even if he didn't beat me nearly to death later on.

As for Fernanda, I don't understand the idea that she should have gone looking for Eduardo before marrying Damian. She wrote letters to him for 15 years without receiving a single answer. It was absolutely reasonable for her to write him off.

Ibarramedia: "Since this is a Televisa production, why is the RCN Columbia logo shown during the end credits?"

I don't know the exact answer to this question, but I can think of two possible explanations:

1. Maybe RCN owns the original Pura Sangre and made the use of their logo a condition of the remake.

2. It's not unusual for multiple companies to get together on a show. "Pobre Millonaria" was a joint venture of Venevision and some media company in another country (maybe in Peru?), and was shot/took place in Panama. That took a while to confusing.

Ibarramedia, I love the meows every night. Cracks me up.

Susanlynn, nice choice for redemption!

Julie, your right, she could have written him off and moved on, as could he, she didn't respond to his letters either. But neither did or we all wouldn't be having this conversation! Yay! The head tells us rationally what to do while the heart goes happily on its own path!

I found this quote attributed to Mr. Colunga in a book..."What the world needs is love. Telenovelas talk about it...it's universal and you can find it in any country. It's a healthy hope."

Sweet!

Julie, if she has written Ed off and moved on, why is she so upset? I just don't get it. Maybe they will give us a clue tonight.

rsk

Speaking of Pobre Millonara, it only lasted a month and a half. I did not really watch it though.

Fernanda's love situation is also different than Matilde's love triangle with Manuel and Adolfo from Amor Real. Both were protagonists vying for her heart...

Ibarramedia

Ibarramedia: "There is an inner struggle going on in her heart and mind about the issue of 'is she really in love with Damian or Eduardo'." You also have to add that she has some attraction to Franco. She doesn't know he is Eduardo. Quite a bit of attraction.
Also, I looked and RCN did put out the original Pura Sangre. So that is probably it. My other thought on that was that isn't Fernanda from Columbian TNs? Perhaps she is on loan from them? But probably the RCN/Pura Sangre connection.

Elsewhere, what we need is for Cadmilo to run into Martina again and try to put on the moves. That would be something to see. :-)
JeffMN

"If she has written Ed off and moved on, why is she so upset?"

Just put yourself in her shoes.

Someone you love seems to ignore you for nearly 15 years. Those actions speak for themselves (not really, but it's rational to think so, because most families don't include a hyena of Barbara's caliber).

You decide you deserve to be happy, so you find someone else and try to forget about that other guy.

Then within an hour or two after you've made that writeoff legal by marrying someone else, he begins a campaign of misery against you by ruining your wedding, hanging out with your sister, and refusing to face you, even going so far as to exhume his mother's body without telling you even though he knows that the funeral was important to you.

You (Fernanda) can tell he's mad and you don't blame him because you know his family gave him a raw deal.

You're not even a little upset yet?

And then he's dead.

What, nothing?

Writing someone off doesn't mean you don't have any feelings for them. It just means you're going to stop letting those feelings interfere with your life. Unfortunately, you can't sustain that if the person begins actively messing with you!

Love is ''a healthy hope''.....ahhh...now I love Fernando even more. I like guaypo ,but I really can't resist sweet. The combination of guaypo and sweet is irresistible to me. Jeff: HA,,,Cad putting the moves on Mighty Martina ...yes...I can see it now...''Het, Chica, I like your...''...POW..WHAM...URGHHH. And just one more thing....I can kind of understand Nanda's connection to her first love after all these years. There's something about that object of one's first puppy love that never completely goes away...mine had quadruple bypass surgery last summer and when he told me , my heart fluttered a little bit. He has a white beard and ponytail but the same naughty smile I remember from the playground. We never forget the people we grew up with ...and loved ....no matter where we go or what we do. They stay in our hearts and remind us of a gentler time when we were gentler, too.

Melissa, Thanks for the recap and especially the great title. It is hard to keep up with all the detail rolling out on this tn, mind you I am not complaining after the foggy vapid hours on FELS which I loved anyway because of the actors but this has real dialog to understand and enjoy.

I am hoping I get some save Ciro action tonight.

I actually thought the look on Aurora's face last night was disgust at Camilo, and not doubt about Santiago. She doesn't strike me as the type who trusts a guy who would touch her and stroke her hair without permission, and she knows Santi's not like that. But maybe her confused look was deliberately vague. :-)

Would Damian use Fernanda's vulnerability over the supposed death of Eduardo to consummate the marriage? I wouldn't put it past him to try.

Jeff, Fernanda is Mexican. I checked her bio when MEPS first came out. She also does NOT sound Columbian. I started watching Betty La fea after MEPS that is why I started the discussion about Columbian spanish. That is also the reason I ask about RCN. Because at the end of each betty episode, they flash that RCN Columbia logo.

Since I have been watching it for about almost 3 months now, I have gotten somewhat used to Columbian Spanish with their sing songy voice. It sounds sexy when the Colombian girls speak it at the same time it is starting to annoy me. I love Mexican spanish the best.

I also agree that Aurora had the look of disgust on her face when Camilo was flirting with her. She seems shy enough that she won't go off on him yet...

My we have hit the century mark 2 days this week. 4 times last week.

I almost forgot to say that Jacinto uttered caray last night. And someone said Caray caray last week.

". . .Bonney, I loved Alborada! All of the acting was great, the characters were so good. And yes the Chippendales scene was, well, breath taking!"

I Netflixed Alborada and watched it, what are you guys talking about with the Chippendales scene? Thanks!

Khalilah

Khalileh~~~I think they're referring to the scene towards the end of Alborada where Luis is in his bedroom changing as he has a conversation with Felipe. He removes his shirt as they are talking. Also, when Luis is recovering from an unfortunate incident, he spends a lot of time in bed with his shirt off. [It seems that galans often suffer chest and side wounds so that the viewers can get some views of their sixpacks. In Amor Real , they accomplished this with mucho bathtub scenes.

Ibarramedia, I just checked to see what I was trying to remember. I remembered something about this being the first Televisa show for Silvia Navarro, "and introducing Silvia Navarro!". I was thinking she was coming from Columbian TV over to Televisa, but I see she was coming from TV Azteca.

Khalilah...yes, the scene where he is getting dressed for Diego's wedding. The part where he is wounded laying bed is nice, but FC standing there, you really apprecaite how much that body gets a work out.

Ah Caray! Ok. Why didn't I remember that? I was like, now, I don't remember no male exotic dancer type scene in that novela! Tee hee! Guess I'll have to buy it now! Thanks Molly and Susanlynn!

Khalilah

Buy it. You won't regret it !!!!
