MEPS Wed. 4/15 - A Very, Very Taxing Day

We come to the scene, Ciro is mortally wounded, Fernanda is mortally wounded in the heart, Damian is mad, mad, mad that Fernanda is off chasing Eduardo and hopes that after this meeting she will give up on this low life. The crypt says it all. Eduardo muses that it was all part of the plan to appear to be dead.

Padre, where is HE? Please accompany me, daughter. Anibal tells Priscila, he has a big meeting. but she promises to save (ahorrar) the details for later, here you need to see this, as she hands him the envelope. Anibal gives what must be his favorite and truest line: I don't understand... what is this about? Pris beams, It's a very, very, very early pregnancy test. we are having a baby! Anibal responds, I never knew what happened that evening. The red head warmed you up at the mansion of the madam, but I swooped in to have the true (verdedero) sex. You took a cocktail of sexy aphrodisiac potions and it worked. Even this blessing of fatherhood isn't enough to bring a smile to Anibal's lips, he is all confused (aturdido) Do you know what having a child means to our relationship at this time? Oh yes, but it doesn't matter.

Padre and Fernanda face the crypt wall, The ashes of Eduardo are here. Of Eduardo? He died? Eduardo Juarez Cruz is carved on the crypt marble under Soledad Cruz de Juarez. Fernanda is hysterical and grief stricken, sobbing on the floor and clinging to the priest.

Pris asks, when will we tell your Papa that his first grandchild is on the way? Damian bursting in on this tender moment asks innocently enough, Something going on? Yes, Pris says we have great news. Anibal says Pris is pregnant in monotone. Damian is all happy and offers to rush to tell the family. Pris says wait I want to be the one to spring the surprise. The cuñado's go off to their important meeting. Pris muses with a belly rub but doesn't try to pat her head, Finally a niño.

Damian wants to know what's going on his friend is in his office. He enters to see Vlad. I why are you hiding in my office. I want to talk about your sister-in-law, I didn't want to risk her seeing me. Do you have something to do with Priscila? Wait here, don't move, I have to go to the conference room.

Meanwhile at the manicomio, Nurse comes in to say Ciro is calling for Liliana as Martina looks deceptively gentle brushing Liliana's hair.

The happy family meet in the conference room apparently to hear Damian whine about his honeymoon delays. Barbara leaves in disgust or boredom. Fernanda went off to clarify things with Eduardo and it is her priority that we must respect says Dad. Anibal wants to get the meeting with Franco.

Eduardo was completely undermined (minado) with sadness. But when did he come what did he want . It was an automobile accident. An accident without explanation. Do you think his death was provoked? Eduardo took his own life? No padre no. -Break-

The last time I saw Eduardo he insisted vehemently that he be buried near his mother in the Parish (Parroquia) of San Rafael. In a flash back of both Eduardo and the Padre Eduardo was unhappy that she married someone else. He tells him that he needs to find out what the hyena did . The only wish he expressed to put Eduardo at his death in a sepulchre with his mother.

In the Padre's office, Fernanda takes tea and composes herself. Her cell rings, It is Damian, she looks, it rings, On the other end, Barbinator grabs the cell phone out of Damian's ear and since it is springtime she throws out the first pitch.

Now Fernanda says even though I am married, I don't understand what happened to Eduardo. I don't have details, it will remain a mystery. She doesn't know how the ashes can be Eduardo next to Soledad.

Cold, cold Barbarity says let her know you have had enough, she counsels Damian, you need to stop her from meeting with the ill born Eduardo.

Damian asks about the problem with the bad milk which seems to be slow in emerging. However, Barb says tomorrow you will leave on that honeymoon. Soon you and I will be going away from this place. She teases him with phone which is still on the counter where she tossed it. (You know they are playing with all of us).

Lili approaches the encased Ciro's bed and tries to get him to answer her. Are you okay. Dr. Demento surges in with his brutish flunkies and demands that Lili get out. She begs to talk with Ciro.. Doctorcito says after he has healed perhaps, but not now, get her out of here. Ciro begs to have a moment alone and Martina has to pull her knife which puts off the big boys and she insists they get out or she will turn Doc into a colander (coladero) Which without bullets will be harder to do. Martina looks up to the job as she gets Doc into a hammer hold with knife against neck.

Martilna's Pfa pa Gepetto, is belly aching about his shameful daughter. His friend says, why don't you talk to her . Then he remembers the meeting with Barboss who came looking for Martina and him told him she is no nurse. Don't do yourself more harm, reasons the friend. but stubborn and ungrateful old Gepetto fiercely says, For me Martina is dead.

Finally the doc sees the good choice in getting the boys out, She gets doctorcito into the bathroom assuring Ciro and Lili they can now talk in privacy. Ciro asks, Who is this strange young woman? My friend. She is valiant and tell her thanks. He is really sick and Lili can't help him. (notice the manicure has lasted so well) Break.

It wasn't necessary to talk to Ed to know the wounds in his heart. and in his exile he knew of all the humiliations that Soledad suffered and then worst of all was her death. Fernanda starts to understand, the abandonment and the separation my father imposed, you finally begin to understand Eduardo had to survive. I just thought Eduardo had forgotten me. Padre assures her he always thought of his land, his people. The cruel reality that none of his wishes and none of his dreams were possible. Fernanda asks, In his moment of death, do you think he hated me. The only thing he harbored (albergo) in his heart for you was love. Eduardo loved me Padre? Father can I confess? .

Damian works on the reservations for a first class departure tomorrow on the earliest flight out, and of course first class. . Vladimir appears, what gives? Are you in a hurry? Back to the phone, This is for, Señora Fernanda and Damian Gallardo . Charge this to Grupo Lactos . No there wont' be any further changes, we are leaving for sure on this date.

In the confessional, Fernanda tells the Padre, I blame myself for the death of Eduardo.

Did you hurt yourself to save me, Lili pleads with Ciro. I was waiting to explain what will be our last game. The white pawn, remember? Eduardo, Yes, he has changed in to the white king I have the letter from your Nana but this is not sufficient proof and the white queen is in danger and only the king can save her. You have to talk to him. Liliana the crows are near and my sons are all idiots and everyone is scrutinizing me (escrutan) we must still hide things. You have to say to the good man that the white king has to lose its head. Lili looks frantic.

Vladi looks nervous. What is important to you about Pris Elizalde. I can not say anything bad about her. What Priscilla and I . Priscilla and you what? You know her? Yes, you introduced us at the wedding . And you were friends. Something more than amigos. What, sputters, Damian. Vladi avers, I am in love with Priscilla.

Pris tells her brother that she is preggers, he calls papa delighted with his sister's news.

Vlad had a revelation and I could never have imagined that this could happen, she is the most marvelous woman in the world. You can't tell me. She is the girl of my dreams, more than a dream, she exists. And you need to help me get her. She is so unhappy (desdichada). And she has to get away from this simpleton (papinatas). Damian drinks a lot of water. -Break-

Remember Lili our secret, no one can know it. The crows are lying in wait (al acecho). The crows have ears and the coffer that your Nana Soledad left you was to get it to a good man. You are safe and you are to save your family from this terrible vengeance. you liberty will by my consolation. It is my hour to leave, finishes Ciro finally relieved. Don't abandon me. The soul of what I have learned as the old magician of the white king is that death is no more than the start of a new adventure. Ciro slips away the machine goes flat line and Lili cries disconsolately. -Break-

I have felt profound hatred for Ed at times, but I have not felt like he should die. But now my heart is breaking . Now I know that Eduardo being sent away to study was my fault. But I was little and t still don't understand that the day of my wedding he sent (the flowers and message). I feel more pain than ever in my live and I am never going to be able to see him again. She sobs and Padre ends the box session, coming out to console her. Am I horrible for what I am feeling? . I think it is the most beautiful feeling that you have had in your life. Is it love. This is love, Padre?

Damian says in your apartment.? Why did you think to take her there? Where else could we go? And everything happened? Damian innocently probes. And you are surprised that Pris cut relations off without any explanation? I thinks she loves me and doesn't know how to get out of her marriage. Damian replies, with all respect you are truly stupid. But people divorce every day says Vlad the innocent. And She is a millionaire and live on my salary. But you have lost her. Priscilla is not going to separate from her husband. Mr innocent jumps to, You like her/ Are you jealous? No but she is not going to be leaving any time soon. For one reason, she is pregnant, now does that seem like a sufficient motive?

Ciro has an aria then a white aura and Lili curls up to hug him. a requiem of her own. Ciro is at peace at last.

Back at the church, Padre advises, Only love can generate this much pain. If Eduardo had looked for you he would have to confront the reality, that in your lives everything was diametrically opposed. .Eduardo is not here and you are a married woman. Is what I feel for Eduardo a sin? The only sin is to betray the sacraments of your marriage and you must love and respect him for all your life.

Next. Eduardo has to confront the real pain of Fernanda. Fernanda has to tell the family that Eduardo is dead. Barbara has to bite her cheeks to keep from grinning ear to ear.

Vlad's reaction to the news of Pris's pregnancy was a goofy smile. Now we know he read the letter and realizes he's the father.

Hi Cheryl. As you know, I had NO Univision last night so I was craving a recap this morning like a true junkie.....and you didn't disappoint.

Loved the" Barb throws out the first pitch." The cell phone teasing in this one is really fun. Sorry I missed the show though. If I have time this afternoon I'll try to find it on Youtube.

PS Duh....just noticed the title...CLEVER GIRL!!!!

Thanks, Cheryl. Gee, Dam was more excited about Prissy's news than Anibal was. What is the matter with this guy ? Any?balls ???? Anyemotions???? ~~~Susanlynn, excited about the 64 degree sunny day ahead.wheeeeeee ..It's actually starting to look and feel like spring...and thrilled that tax season is OVER

I've got to write down my favorite line so that I can use it when the proper situation arises : ''With all respect, you are truly stupid.'' Now that could come in handy in real life, no ?

Thanks for the recap Cheryl. You have to give credit to Nanda, she sure can cry. And it's believeable. Oh no, it's a phone smashing---she grabs the phone, looks like it's going to be smashed--but NO we are disappointed again. Plus it doesn't count unless Dam does it.

I'm still having trouble with the Ed timeline. He came to town, sent the flowers, and then died? Or he came to town, died, then someone else sent the flower? Plus he called at some point disguising his voice so I'm not sure the car accident story is going to fly.

Also, was the priest crying because Nanda was so upset or because he felt bad for lying to her? Hmmmmm.....

Cheryl - Great title, a big thank you for your funny recap and for translating the conversations between Lili-Ciro and Fer-Padre. It was impossible for my ears to understand a word Ciro was saying with that neck brace.

Whoa! Martina kicks butt again last night. If there is another Charlie's Angels movie sequel and they need a brunette, Martina is their girl!

Fer is going to be verrrrry angry when she finds out Eduardo is alive.

Anibal could have shown a little bit of happiness over becoming a father. Unless he already knows something Pris doesn't, like maybe a vasectomy, or childhood mumps.

Susanlynn, I'm totally copyrighting that line, but you also have to be able to have Damian's dry tone of voice and expression when he delivered it.

I was glad for the diversion of the Pris-Viad-Damian scenes as the rest was just too depressing and dreary.

J.

Yes a very dreary episode, but STILL better than FELS. And Fernando, please grow your hair again.

Wouldn't Eduardo's auto crash have made the local paper? Nobody heard about this? ... and yet he's already ashed and in the crypt?

Cheryl, thanks for another fabulous recap. I loved it when Martina pulled the shiv on the beleaguered Dr. O. The poor bastard just doesn't seem to learn. He simply needs to hide away in his office with a good book.

Ciro certainly was enigmatic last night. I gather that Eddie's the white king (a curious role for him), and I'm not clear on whether Nanda or Lil is the white queen. Help! And did you notice the white knight turned on it's side? The difunto Ciro? I was halfway expecting him to morph into a white dove and fly out the window.

Thanks again, Cheryl. Oh, by the way, what are you reading these days?

Carlos

Wasn't THAT a cheery episode? Nanda's crying is too real, disturbing and believable.

Doncha feel like slapping Any?balls, just to get a reaction out of him? He couldn't show any emotion of any kind when he got the news. Yet Damian looked truly happy. Tho he is a coniving and cheating bastard, at least he knows how to resopond to the world with emotions. He looks like he is nearing the end of his patience with the women in his life; Nanda and Babs. Also, I think that Babs intends to kick him to the curb when she decides to blow town.

Vlad is just stupid, so stupid he doesn't know that he's stupid, tho Damian told him twice. He used a word ne wto me, "concunada", referring, of course to Damian's cunada, Pris. Any ideas out there what that might mean?

How many days have passed since the boda- three or four, only? So much has happened.

Susanlynn- I'm envious- 64*. Herewe'll be lucky to hit 60, but the sun will be out in a few mins, and that's enough for now.

Thanks for the recap, Cheryl

Cheryl thank you for an excellent recap. So someone awhile back said Ciro hid a clue in the chess piece. Looks like that is the case. Sad that they killed him though. Loved Martina and the knife, she is awesome! So did Fr/Ed convince the father that it would be better if people believed he was dead? And what is he burning in the preview? Fernanda did a great job!

Carlos- I didn't notice the king on its side, but didn't Ciro say that the white pawn had become the white king, and that the white king has to lose his head, or something like that? These silly metafors are killing me, but I think that there is something hidden in the chesspiece itself.

Cheryl, thanks for the super recap. I loved the title!

Carlos, the "good book" comment was priceless.

rsk

Cheryl: Excellent recap and embedded vocabulary.

There wasn't much to cheer about last night so I really appreciated your "cold, cold Barbarity" and "Even this blessing of fatherhood isn't enough to bring a smile to Anibal's lips"...

Susanlynn, "What is the matter with this guy? Any?balls ???? Anyemotions????" I'm wondering the same.

How sad that: "Gepetto fiercely says, For me Martina is dead." Thankfully and fortuntely for everyone else, especially Lili, she is alive and kicking. "Martina has to pull her knife which puts off the big boys" and she "gets Doc into a hammer hold with knife against neck." Excellent!

I can't help but wonder how Damien and Vlad ever became friends. It's hard to believe that Vlad is so gullible and naive but apparently he must be. I think you nailed it on the head Anon 6:26, he must have read the letter.

While viewerville is rightly questioning timelines and all of the details on Ed's "death", it appears it will be accepted as fact so that this depressing plotline can continue.

Diana in MA

Thanks for the recap Cheryl. I hope you were able to complete your taxes on that taxing day.
Yes, you have to wonder about the timeline of all of this. It should just be a few days after the wedding. In FELS, we wondered where everything was located, here we wonder about the day/timeline.
I wonder when everyone is going to get curious and check on Lili and Ciro? Is the good Doctor going to try and pin Ciro's death on her?

Anon 9:38: "Wouldn't Eduardo's auto crash have made the local paper?" I don't think we have to worry about that. The explosion at the manicomio didn't make any papers either. Only thing that apparently makes the pubs is the buying of Saleroso by Papa-Errika and that sale only happened a couple of days ago as well.

Vlad really did get a gleam in his eye when he heard about Pris being pregnant. We'll have to see if he is a dangerous stalker or some truly stupid lovesick stalker, will he do harm? And, "Anibal, hey, don't worry about the baby buddy. We don't plan on you helping at all anyway." You would think he would be happy he won't have to be hounded by Pris any more.

JeffMN

Just not right...
Gepetto saying that "For me, Martina is dead."

Padre Bosco, "The only sin is to betray the sacraments of your marriage "

Those comments just not right with me. Gepetto, just wrong, but Martina has to get back with him and... oops, probably tell him some lies to make him happy. I think that Dr. Guapo will come back into play to help cover for her, or at least Eduardo.

Petaining to normal societal mores, the Padre is saying it the way it is. But, I think in one way he is just trying to generate some more guilt for Nanda to subconsciously cover up the guilt he feels for his misdeeds in helping out Eduardo.

JeffMN

I think that Vlad is just a lovesick lad. These telenovelas depict guys in very unbelievable ways...like Vlad being completely smiitten with Pris after one bunny hop, and Hot Rod the Bod from Destilando only able to perform with Ga-vi-o-taaaaaaaaaaa. It would be interesting if that were the case in real life. It would certainly cut down on infidelities. ~`~~Susanlynn, enjoying the sunshiny day

Here's another pearl of wisdom that I'm writing down :'' Only love can generate this much pain.'' So true, Father Bosco.

So we now see that Vlad is a loony tune AND a blabbermouth. Will he brag to Damian about being a daddy-to-be? Will Damian reveal this juicy tidbit to Barbie? Will Barbie use this in her revenge plan? After all, there is no love lost between her and Priscila? Can't wait to find out.

J.J.

My vote is for Vlad as a stalker. The things he's saying about Pris are over the top even for a telenovela character. I think it's going to get ugly.

Concuñada - I believe that refers to a co-in-law, that is, people who are in-laws to the same family would be sort of co-in-laws. The spouses of all your brothers and sisters would describe their relationship as concuñados.

If there's confusion about the chess pieces:

Ciro is the white knight (now tipped over because he's dead)
Lili is the white pawn
Fernanda is the white queen
Eduardo is the white king, and the white king must lose his head to defeat the black queen
Babs is the black queen

I don't believe there's been any talk of the black king, but that would be Mr. Bravo.

I believe Ciro referred to his "hijos" - so does that mean the woman we assumed was his wife is actually his daughter, and Gump is his grandson? (The guy with the bow tie calls her "mother" but I didn't notice if he called Ciro "dad" or "grandpa.")

Thanks Cheryl for another delightful recap that never fails to generate lots of interesting comments. *LMAO (laughed my a$$ off)at your comment about Prissy rubbing her belly but didn't pat her head. It's always surprising when you find out that some silly thing you did in your little corner of the world, was popular for kids in other corners of the world. Several days ago the topic of old radio stations came up and SusanLynn mentioned Jerry Blavat, the Geeter with the Heater from Philadelphia. Thanks for the fond memories that brought to light. I left Phila. in 1969, so that had to be some years ago. Also, a few days ago we were discussing learning. Someone asked if it were possible to learn by osmosis. I think that while it may not be officially called osmosis, the learning centers in the brain can absorb certain material just by being exposed to it.(I wouldn't count on osmosis if you have a test comming up - heh, heh)

The only good thing about Martina being dead to Geppetto is that we don't have to see him anymore! I hate it when they have parents say that. If my kid didn't come home and then some guy showed up talking smack about them, I would be freak'n out trying to find my kid. What a jerk!

I don't like Vlad! Blech!

However, that Damian is a hotty even though he is bad.

Okay, Jacinto, Marg, Martina and Lili all know who Ed is and that he is very much alive, so how does he keep this up?

Now that Ciro is dead will they get Lili out of there and hide her somewhere? There is not reason to leave her in the nut house.

Martina's nurses uniform was shorter then her hooker skirt! She does have great legs to pull of white tights.

Thanks Julie, that's the way I had it figured , although earlier I had thought that the white pawn(Lil)was going to get stronger and become a white queen. I didn't think that Ciro even knew about Nanda. And the white king has to lose his head?(Yikes!) If so I suspect there will be a lot of unhappy folks here.

Carlos

Good Morning Amigos! Thanks for the commentary from all. Anon at 6:26, I think Vlad may really be such a nice guy that all he read was the envelope return address which definitely was the Lab Name, he paused on it when he picked it up from the floor and read it.

Judy, I hope you get Univision back today. I had to use only the local stations which didn't seem to be effected by the wind on the satellite dish. We had fierce wind until 10PM. And I loved how Barbie truly laughed at Damian about the phone, the actors seemed to be having fun at that moment.

Susanlynn, I like how direct Damian can be, the stupid line was so well delivered. He also did show the only genuine gladness for sourpuss Anibal's and Pris's news.

Connie, I agree that the timeline is hard to follow and Padre was deliberately vague saying he really had no details. But oddly aren't we several weeks after the wedding? There was the trip to New York, Franco moving in and hiring staff, Margi clearing Soledad's house out, the explosion and lots of events, so confusing but that helps Ed/Fran's smoke screen.

Doris, I am thinking Lili needs to grab that whole chess board. First, isn't there money hidden in the bottom of it and Ciro certainly gave more clues that there is a clue in the white king's head. Martina can keep the goons away while Lili gets the evidence. But didn't Ciro's wife grab the little chest some visits ago? It was hidden in Ciro's clothes closet and she didn't understand the contents but mentioned they may be important or valuable later.

J. I love Sendel too and I think he is beginning to develop some really subtle nuances in his character that are fun to watch for. His eyes are getting more expressive too.

Carlos, yes a good book for Doctorcito would surely have a freshly filled flask in it too. No flasks for me but I am currently reading Larra and Rosalia de Castro from the romantic era in the mid 1800's this week.

Dave, I was hoping for some action for Ciro's well being. I didn't count on it being his death that would rescue him. It was touching that he and Lili got their reunion and he was able to tell her the next steps however cryptically delivered. I am sad, I really loved Ciro and his clever ways to get over on the staff and his nasty family.

Anon at 9:38, The padre was so vague about where and when, I am not sure that a servant class boy who had not been heard from for 15 years would be newsworthy unless he died crashing in the town plaza.

Molly, I wonder if Ed/Fran is burning the letter from his mother to keep it from falling into the wrong hands.

The Vladi side plot seems to be heating up. I don't think this is going to be peaceful pregnancy somehow. Vladi is going to want to flaunt his better manhood to show up Aniballs as the stud babydaddy.

Julie, thanks for explaining that. I had a hard time understanding Ciro.

Connie, I think that your evaluation of Camilo and his ilk yesterday was dead on. I think that cockroach is exactly right. It is often so sad that we must learn by our own mistakes.

Carlos

I was out of town for a few days and I'm just getting caught up on 3days of episodes and recaps. I'm just now going to watch this recording but I'll say thanks in advance to Cheryl and comment later.
Thank you Julie for the (08:17)comment you made yesterday on behalf of Fernanda. Her heart wrenching sobs were real tear jerkers for me. We all are entitled to our opinions, there's no right or wrong and all opinions are welcomed on this blog. So, I'm only saying that it feels good when someone elses opinion mirrors yours exactly. Fernanda will surely win an award for this magnificent performance. So far I don't see Eddie's tricks as award worthy.
Sue

Yes Carlos you are right. I hate it that they prey on the weak and inexperienced. They are just slimy. Like everybody else I can't decide whether Vlad the Impale-Her is slimy or not. Right now I consider him just creepy.

Julie, thanks for the review of the chess pieces. Lists are always good to keep these mounting details straight. I liked how they focused on the chess board at the end of Ciro's time with Lili to emphasize what she has to unravel to save her family. How wonderful that he invested this importance in her to pull her out of her years of being forgotten by her rotten family. Ciro was really her family for so long. I don't think the woman was his daughter, but rather his pushy materialgirl wife. She seems to have used his money to keep herself youthful. Perhaps there are more bashful bumpkins like the one wifey brings to the clinic. I still maintain that Lili needs to take that chess set NOW.

I am beginning to think they need to bring Gardenia in on the big secret, she can be more helpful if she knows the truth. The whole gang is really going to have to pull together to get out of the traps that Barbinator is setting.

I think Vlad is creepy, lovestruck, and not the sharpest pencil in the pack.[ I could buy the lovesick puppy deal better if Vladdie was 15. ]That is not a good combination...but I'd still take it over Cadmillo who is creepy, nasty, vain, stupid, spoiled, thoughtless, and a legend in his own mind.

I think Vlad is so delusional that he will become dangerous when he realizes that Pris not only does not care about him, but also used him. He's the one who should be in the manicomio. He is not going to give up on his "love" for Pris and just fade away, and the connection to Damian spells really bad news for Pris. I think his reaction to Pris' pregnancy would have been rage or despair if he hadn't read the letter and therefore knows that Anibal can't be the father.

J.J.

Wow, thanks Carlos for the reminder about Lili also getting coronated as the white queen. But you can have two queens if you promote a pawn!

You're right, though, I don't know if he knows anything about Fernanda, so maybe that's the only white queen he's talking about.

Don't worry about the white king losing his head - I'm pretty sure he means the chess piece.

The reason I'm stuck on this idea is because the chess set we had when I was a kid looked as the pieces would come apart. They didn't, though... I think that was just the way they were molded. But it would be a brilliant way to hide things, and Ciro's pretty brilliant.

Julie~~~Thanks for that graphic organizer for the chess pieces. You would be great at teaching students how to study and organize material. I agree that by ''The White King must lose his head'' Ciro is referring to the info hidden in the top of the chess piece. I don't want Fr/ed to really lose his handsome head.

I think Ciro knew about Nanda. If he and Lili were so close, I'm sure she talked to him about her sister. Usually your close friends know all about your family members. It's always a topic of conversation even if they've never met your relatiives. If Fr/Ed is the White Knight, Nanda has to be The White Queen.

concuañda, in this case means my wife's sil.

concuñado/a the in-law of your spouse.

The white king has to lose it's head. I think there is something inside & I thought that when Fr/ed was turning it over in his hand.

I must say that Fernanda cries so much better than Sofia. She looked truly destroyed, very believable.

variopinta

Fernanda's despair last night seemed very deep and very real. The kind where you need an icepack for your face afterwards. :( It's going to take a lot for Eduardo to make up all the damage he's doing.

I'm still holding out hope that Damian will rebel against Babs in the end. He really seems to bristle at any suggestions that involve pressuring Fernanda in any way. He also bristles when Babs sexually harrasses him, even though he's ultimately unable to (or afraid to!) resist her.

Team Fr/Ed is shaping up well, but oh the secrets they must keep. When Jacinto and Margarita find out he just killed himself off and broke Nanda's heart in the process there is going to be hell to pay. I don't think Marg will hold back just what she thinks. Maybe bringing Gardenia into the fold would be good. I like her and would like to see her become less of loose canon and more of a co-conspiritor.

I hope we don't have to wait forever for them to snap the head off that chess piece!

The only thing I keep wondering about is, how long did Martina have to stay in the bathroom with Dr. Obregon, and what were they doing to pass the time?! I mean, it seems as if it's night now, Lili has curled up beside the dead Ciro, and aren't those two still in the baño?

Maybe she is giving him a swirly, he deserves one!

thanks, Julie and Variopinta for clearing up the "concunado" question.

I'm for letting Gardenia in on the secret, if only to keep her from asking questions, especially of people outside the gang. I admit that I had to rewatch the last scene with she and Eddy in the kitchen where he tells her to just hang around the house. She is so smitten, cute, bubbly, and above all smokin sexy.

Per yesterday's discussion about nurses' uniforms being an object of fantasy. Last night on Tontas, the star's best buddy was fantasizing about hot nurses, and Kris posted a picture of the scene on the blog.

Loved the recap Cheryl. Nanda's devastation over Eddie's "death" was so palpable. I had tears rolling down my eyes watching her. I think the padre was crying for the pain his lie was inflicting on Nanda and seeing how it tore her to pieces. I chuckled when Babs tossed the phone and the big grin Lucero had on her face when she did it. She's really relishing this role. Damian's crack to Vlad about being stupid was so funny. He's definitely isn't going to go away quietly now that he knows Pris is preggers. Eventually Eddie will have to see the damage his vengeance plot is doing to Nanda and he'll have to redeem himself to win her back. Tonight's show looks to be intense and Damian better scrap those honeymoon plans. He and Nanda aren't going anywhere and he ain't getting any again for another night LOL. Sad to see Ciro die but at least Lil got to spend time with him so he could go in peace.

I'm happy that this novela is creating such a large and insightful community. But, I'm just not liking it very much. The lying priest completely annoyed me and pretty much jumped the shark, in my opinion. It's not that I don't think a priest would never lie. It's just that I think they'd lie in self-interest but not to further someone else's revenge plot. And that scene between Fernanda and the priest went on FOREVER.

The total subserviance of everyone to this Elizalde family doesn't work for me either. Margarita, Gardenia, and Jacinto have all been brutalized and/or intimidated by either by the Elizaldes or someone who works for them. Maybe Mexico really is this way, but I'd sure hate to think so.

I really like the actress playing Fernanda, and I could look at Colunga for hours. Otherwise, except for Aurora, everyone else is either evil or mediocre.

Feel free to flame me, but this is the way I feel.

I believe that Padre Bosco was, in his earlier days, a barrister in London going by the name of Rumpole and practiced at the Old Bailey. He had dubious ethics then and often played fast and loose with the truth. It looks like the priesthood hasn't changed him much(if indeed he really is a priest).

novelera - I won't flame you because I also feel that way, although to a lesser degree. I'm not happy with all the lies FrEd is setting up, especially involving the Padre, and even the 'nurse'-Martina-in-the-manicomio stuff. Nonetheless, it all revolves around Eduardo's network of lies he has created. I often feel frustrated after an episode. Don't know if I can take eight or ten months of it. This telenovela is different from others I have seen.

I remember in Amor Real when the Helena Rojo character referred to her daughter's MIL as her (HR's) "consuegro" meanint co-mother-in-law. Same concept as concuñada. I sort of like it.

RUMPOLE! Thanks, Carlos. That was eating at me. Rumpole it is!

Thanks for the helpful recap, Cheryl, and the vocabulario.

Lots of crying but it's better crying than the in FELS where Sofia cried buckets mainly due to her own stupid decisions.

I think Vlad never opened the letter but just noticed it was from a lab. He didn't seem to have much of a reaction to the envelope except that Prissy dropped it. However, he maybe come very curious since he knows Prissy is preggers.

Back to crying, I think the actors playing Fer and Lil are excellent...the crying seemed very authentic and heartbreaking.

"With all respect, you are truly stupid." What a great line. If only I had the nerve to use that when the occasion arises. LOL. GinCA

Hi, I'm back after looking at my tape of last nights episode. Thanks Cheryl, as usual I love your recap. It's good to see such a variety of opinions in the comments. That's what makes getting together with you guys to discuss the novela so much fun. I don't think anyone should get flamed for expressing a heartfelt opinion even if you don't agree. Novelera, I agree with everything you said about all the evil things going on. Stop it already Eddie, I think that Nanda has suffered enough. But for some reason all this action instead of turning me off, it's making me love this novela more. I look forward to each episode.

For know I will maintain that Fr/Ed has not really seen the effect his lies are having. The wedding, okay, he did that totally to hurt her. It sucked. Bad Fr/Ed!

But he didn't leave the necklace for her to find, and he didn't see what her reaction was to the priest. I think he will be sorry, very sorry. Of course the dye is cast and it will take months to undo.

Hopefully he will spend lots of time in the shower thinking about it! Showers are a good place to think.

Molly~~~I get a big kick out of you and the showers !!! Cleanliness is next to Godliness , verdad ?

What can I say, I like clean boys! One of my favorite smells has always been my kids fresh out of the bath. When they are clean and in pjs and ready to snuggle up on the couch for a story(okay they are older now and would be horrified if I suggested such a thing), but big boys are just as lovely all nice and clean!

Carlos, whenever someone says they are going to curl up with a good book, I will have an image of Dr. O with his favorite book. Glug, glug. LOL. GinCA

Great recap! Thanks Cheryl! Loved the title too!

"Vlad is just stupid, so stupid he doesn't know that he's stupid."

I love that! Just take out the "Vlad" and it's so generic - for everday use even!

Vlad is definitely a few cards short of a deck - classic stalker material.

"Pris muses with a belly rub but doesn't try to pat her head, Finally a niño." Now that was some funny imagery! --I was having a great time cheering on Martina with that knife around Demento's scrawny chicken neck and hauling him out of the room. This show just gets better and better.

I'm really wondering what Vlad's going to try now that he knows Pris is pregnant because he just may have read those test results of Any Balls' after all. I really want to see fireworks here!

Thanks again Cheryl for a most amusing jaunt through fantasy land again!

P.S. Catchy title, my dear!

p.p.s. Melissa: Forgot to mention that yours was a catchy title, too. : > ))

Jardinera, Melissa and all who think Vladimir is about to fire all his brain cells and they are not going to amount to enough to get him to a smart solution. Isn't ironic that we are worryng about the stupidity of just a few characters instead of wondering if the one or two smart people can escape the sociopathic enemy. Barbinator is no match for Feonando. And on the other hand I think Vladi has more IQ points that the FELS brothers and sisters.

I am sorry Ciro won't be able to cast his weight on the problem solving side. I am in the camp of thinking Eduardo has some delayed development form his hard life and won't end up evil at all. Right now it is adding some interesting nuance to his clean shiny just showered goodness. But Yes, Molly we do need some shower action soon.

Pay close attention to the pictures in the family room. Anibal's look alike ancestor with the mustache is there. Look where Priscilla is sitting. She is infornt of it right next to the pic of Gonzo and Monsie. Another on top of the fireplace mantel. There must be some reason this is placed there and not just for laughs. Methinks it will impact the storyline in the future.

Ibarramedia

Ibarramedia, what do you make of the friendly looking cow behind Damian's head in his office just a Lactos participant? It made me laugh when I was trying to concentrate on pictures last night like you and others had suggested a few days ago.

I was thinking who would frame a picture taken of a cow facing the front like you would with a freind or loved one? Normally, pictures of cows are in their profile or side view grazing in the grass. That cow must have been Damian's 'Personal friend'. Ok /Dirty thought mode off./

Ibarramedia

Maybe that cow in the portrait is the cow that was the matriarch of the Lactos herd? Elsie, the contented cow.

Ack. I forgot to pay attention to the family photos. Yet again. Ack.

Ibarra...maybe that cow is Anibals first love!

Molly, you must mean Damian's first love. The Cow portrait is in Damian's office. Since you guys are in the West Coast, there is at least 48 min. before MEPS starts there. Watch out for it.

Ibarramedia

Damian could have stole her away. Maybe that is why Anibal can't get in the mood with Pris, he is missy Bessie...mooooo....!

Maybe her name was Annabelle...awwwwwww

missing! I meant missing!

Nice picture Molly! Very awesome. I didn't get to comment much yesterday we were superbusy. Can't wait for last night's recap. I'm still fascinated with Gardenia's hair. I keep waiting for it to stand up and turn into snakes like Medusa! My hair is long but straight as a board. I couldn't make it curl like that no matter what I did.
