MEPS, June 12, 2009

I will be filling in for Jardinera while she is gone for the next 3 Fridays.

Flor is crying as she is turning in her badge.

Fernanda is devastated. She feels like she has been in a fog and it's finally cleared and is seeing everything clearly for the first time. She can't believe that the people she has believed in has lied to her. Franco/Ed is trying to comfort her. She tells him that she's scared. Theme music plays. He extends his hand, she grabs it. He caresses her face. And we get a kiss. Soft and sweet. This time she doesn't push him away. Afterward she kind of starts to freak out. She tells him to forget that the kiss ever happened. He agrees. She reminds herself and Franco/Ed that she is married.

Venus and Martina are outside talking and hoping that Franco/Ed can give Venus a job.

Gardinia asks Esteve where Franco/Ed is. She complains to him about the girls. He guesses it's about Venus. He smiles when he says her name and wants to know what's the problem with her. Gardenia gets pissed because she realizes she will get nowhere with him. She leaves and Esteve thinks she's jealous.

Fernanda gets herself a drink. Franco/Ed is looking confused. Fernanda wonders what other lies have been told to her that she does not know about. Franco/Ed says it must hurt. Yes admits Fernanda. And now I know how Eduardo felt. Franco/Ed looks at her. You know I felt anger at him, lots of anger. And I never imagined the pain that I was causing him. Even though I never caused it, it was still my fault. The damage was unrepairable. I let it happen. Franco/Ed asks her if she wants his opinion. He tells her to find that sadness that is inside her and cure it. She asks him for his help. Franco/Ed tells her that we cannot help others until we help ourselves first.

AB does into his study to find Barbara waiting for him. She has brought him the contract that Power Milk has signed with Grupo Lactos. He starts to look it over while giving her the stink eye. He tells her that they have spent 15 years preparing for the collapse of Gonzalo Elizande. Now some guy comes in to save the day. We have to revise our plans. Are you willing to wait for the time needed to complete our plans? No replies Barbara. And what are you planning to do asks AB. Barbara tells him that she will leave them in the hands of Franco Santoro. Let him destroy them. Let him finish what you started. AB is not in agreement. He wants him ruined. He wants to know that he caused it. She suggests getting rid of Franco/Ed. AB tells her no, there has to be someone behind him. Well while we wait to find that out, Grupo Lactos could get out of being ruined replies Barbara. AB suggests she keep controlling the money. It not that easy anymore replies Barbara. Gonzalo has his children now. He trusts Anibal and Fernanda. AB doesn't care. He wants everything to collapse.

Santi and Aurora are packing up the house. She asks Santi if he thins that man (AB) will return again. He offers to stay for a couple more days. No replies Aurora. There is nothing here for me. All that is important is for me to be with you.

AB wants Barbara to give him Gonzalo's remains (despojos) and the rest is hers. Including my freedom asks Barbara. AB asks her when did she ever lose it? When I met you. And Aurora, where is she? She's dead replies AB. Now leave. He cries and mutters her name when Barbara leaves.

Aurora thanks the virgincita because she will be leaving behind her tears, solidarity and pain. Now I will start a new life next to the man I love. Santi says it's time to leave and insists on carrying her out. (does this little speech mean no more tears? or am I hoping for too much?)

Erika and her mom Delores are at the doctor's office. He tells Deloresthat she is not pregnant, but has started menopause.

Franco/Ed and Fernanda are saying goodbye. He asks her if she will help him get Lili out of the mental hospital. She tells him that it's not just her decision to make, but also her fathers. He tells her that her father should not be told. Fernanda thinks that it will complicate things further and that he has not told her where Lili would be or about her treatment. Franco/Ed promises that he will soon have more concrete plans. She tells him to call her when he does. She wishes him a good night and goes to shake his hand. He grabs and kisses it.

Priscilla is in bed resting. Anibal comes in and wonders why she's in bed at this time. She tells him that she's not feeling well. She thinks that she might lose the baby. Anibal the sensitive, supportive and caring husband that he is tells her that if that happens then it was meant to be.

Vlad is worried and upset about Priscilla. Damien tries to offer comforting words. Vlad goes on about how Priscilla treated him. Damien sprouts non-sense and Vlad eats it up. He tells Damien that he is the best friend in the world. Damien says I'm looking out for you. And then they hug while Vlad cries like a sissy. (I just want to tell him to grow a pair).

Priscilla tells Anibal that she will do all she can to prevent losing the baby. He turns to walk away. She yells at him to stay and listen to all that she has to say. The only way this baby will not be born is if I die. Anibal tells her to quit talking crazy. She yells that she has not finished talking yet. He has to get use to having a baby. This baby will be his punishment. She goes on to say that his child will be his worst enemy. And will pay him back the only way he (Anibal) knows. And that's cruelty.

Delores (Erika's mother) in sitting on the couch crying. She can't believe that she's not pregnant. Her husband (name escapes me) comes in bearing gifts for the little one that she's expecting. Erika tries to warn him, but he doesn't listen. He shows off the gifts, but Delores finally interrupts him and tells him the truth. He's shocked, but then offers her his support and understanding.

Barbara is putting her her sexy lingerie when Gonzalo comes in saying you're looking for me? He stops talking and with mouth hanging open and I believe a little drool on his chin goes up to Barbara. She tells him that she's giving him a treatment that only the lord/king of the house deserves. They start kissing and honestly she seems to like it.

Esteve tells Franco/Ed about Venus and that's she's very lively. (quick note: the view of Fernando casually lounging on the sofa with that sexy grin HOT) Anyway Venus is looking for a job and wondering if Franco/Ed can give her one. Another thing says Esteve be careful with Gardenia. You are playing with fire. No kidding. Be careful with her.

Gardenia is preparing dinner and Venus tries to snag a bite, but Gardenia tells her and Martina that if they are hungry to make there own food. Martina tells Gardenia not to be that way. Venus tells Gardenia, "What you think I can't cook?" If I made the same thing mine would be better. Gardenia gets pissed and walks out. Martina tells Venus to control herself. She doesn't want problems with Senor Santoro.

Esteve and Franco/Ed are looking at a picture of a house? They conclude business and Esteve shows Franco/Ed the list of invites for the party along with the food, music, flowers, etc., etc. Franco/Ed is shocked that Esteve invited the press. Of course responds Esteve. We are going to have a big celebration and it has to be in the papers. Gardenia storms in interrupting Esteve and Franco/Ed. She wants to talk with him. It's important.

Gonzalo thanks Barbara not only for the wonderful lovemaking, but also for the wonderful life they have together. She sighs. He asks her what's wrong. She doesn't want to worry him. He begs her to tell him. She says that she's scared of what could happen to her.

Franco/Ed tells Esteve to handle the invitations. Esteve leaves. Gardenia asks if he plans to let those girls stay. Franco/Ed replies that it's too late for Martina to go home to her dad's. Well she brought her friend so that you can give her a job. Yes, Esteve told me replies Franco/Ed. Doing what asks Gardenia. Well I'm sure we can find something for her responds Franco/Ed. Gardenia gets pissed and says that we can't Eduardo. He looks up at her wondering what is wrong with you. She tells him that she will not have it. He finally gets pissed and shouts out her name to stop her verbal rampage. He tells her we'll deal with it in the morning. She stalks off. He reminisces about his kiss with Fernanda and mutters her name.

At Fernanda's she does the same. She says to herself that they kissed and how wonderful it was. But it cannot happen again, because she is married and must be respectful.

Gonzalo keeps questioning Barbara about her comment. She tells him that her position is fragile not just at the house, but also at the office. Lately, it's been difficult managing it all. Gonzalo asks if she's referring to his kids. She just looks at him. What happened asks Gonzalo. Barbara tells him nothing concrete. Your kids are adults now and make decisions. They are not always in agreement with me. Gonzalo says they are not always in mine either. But that shouldn't cause you to be scared. Of course replies Barbara. You are they're father. If something happened to me, you would still be there father. But god forbid if something happened to you...I could end up in the street.

Franco/Ed tells Esteve about what Fernanda told him Damien told her about Barbara. He says that Fernanda's confused and has realized that she has been living in a lie. The only thing she's positive about is if Damien really did what they are accusing him of then her marriage is over. Esteve asks if what Damien said about Barbara is true? Franco/Ed thinks that Fernanda's life along with her family will result in a tragedy. Esteve asks about Lili. He's still thinking about what to do. But the good thing is that Fernanda is confiding in me. He confesses that he kissed her. He couldn't help himself. Esteve asks how she reacted. Franco/Ed says that she let her emotions rule her. Esteve thinks that she loves him. Franco/Ed thinks that it was an impulse because she said afterwards that she was married. That kiss I gave her was filled with all my love. I don't think if meant anything to her.

Monday: Barbara sees Aurora in her house

Can someone please tag this? Thanks. I apologize for not having it up Friday night. I thought it would be okay as long as I had it up by Sunday. Will not to that again. :)

Gloria...whenever you get it done is fine. There have been other Friday recappers who don't get theirs up until Sunday evening. Do it on your schedule. We're happy to wait.

Will also try and post this for you.

Okay...it's tagged. For some reason, I now have to turn my internet protected mode to tag it, then turn it back on again. Crazy !

Gloria - thank you for the great recap and funny snark! You helped clear up some questions I had when I could not understand the conversation.

It was weird how AB is so devastated over Aurora's believed demise. She would have to be his daughter to bring on that much sadness, and that would mean he and Barbara Greco had *something* all those years ago. One thing is for sure, we'll know all by the Por Fin.

Tks Gloria,
We're happy to have the recap any time you can get it done.

I think Anibal will turn out to be an ok guy, he did have a pained look on his face, while she was yelling at him. I think Pris has feeling for him, but he's such an ass, she won't let it show.

Pobre Flor can probably pass on some important info to Jacinto & Margarita about what is happening in GL. Don't know if she had any computer access though. And she can always get a job at Fr/Ed's.

I'm sure Esteve can find something for Venus to do. I just hope she will scrape off some of the make-up & no more gum!

That Babs is slick, Fredericks of Hollywood lingerie, are they still in business? Gonzo will surely change his will.

The press will be at the party, I wonder if Fr/Ed's picture in the paper will smoke out the real Franco Santoro?

What on earth could Dolly being pregnant or not be important to the plot? Maybe just to keep us aware of the characters for something later. Erika's padre is Augustín.

Thank you for tagging this JudyB. When AB was crying I was wondering also why? He left her with a drunk, abusive woman. He never visited or called. All he did was send money. If he is the father he sure has great parental skills. Gardenia is stepping over the line. She made know the truth and was friends with Franco/Ed when they were children, but crossed the line when she was so demanding. I have to say this was harder recapping then Cuidado. But enjoyed the challenge. Learned a couple of new words in this one.

Gloria, thanks for this great, thorough, in depth recap. Like everyone else, I'm not seeing the cogency of the Augy /Dolly story but since it's here, I'll comment. Dolly is a very pretty, but not too bright older woman. Augy is clearly very much in love, clearly still smitten, dare I say uxorious? In many ways he's a stereotype of a basically good old boy. I hope Dolly realizes what a loving well-meaning boob he is. Too bad he doesn't know the truth about Camilo. Carlos

Oh, Augy did reveal an amusing bit of clumsy machismo when Erika said that the Dr. delivered some very bad news and he replied, you mean it's an hembrita? I cringed when he came out with that. Carlos

I couldn't believe he said that right in front of Erika! Good goin', Dad - tell your daughter (not to mention your wife) that girls are chopped liver.

Thanks, Gloria - this wasn't "late" by any means, but still would have been worth the wait if it had been.

I hope Venus prepares a nice dinner for Esteve that puts Gardenia's pozole to shame, just to knock Gardenia down a peg or two. That girl needs a wake-up call from reality.

Gloria, thanks for the great recap. As you can see we are a very chatty, interactive group. I am delighted and grateful that you have added to the fun with your recap.

Question, did AB raise Barbara after she killed her parents? She had been well groomed for her role bringing down the Family.

rsk

Julie, I mentioned in the other post that I'm hoping Venus and Martina prepare a great meal for Steve and Fr/Ed. If they do, Gardenia will probably end up staying at el manicomio.

Gardenia's jealousy is really obnoxious.

~Caborita

Gloria: Thanks for the recap.

Does anybody else think that Pris should change her clothes? She's been wearing the black pants and grey jacket for days.

Gloria, I apologize for my error. I echo the others - posting your recap Sunday is absolutely fine! Please don't feel like you have to change your plans for my mistake. We're just all glad you're filling in for J. Two recaps per week - what a clutch player!

I made my mistake because I forgot that Jardinera was away and had a substitute. Since J normally posts by some time Saturday afternoon, and no post showed up by Sat afternoon, I assumed J had an obstacle. Now that I realize you're substituting, I won't anticipate that you will act like J! (jiji) Again, sorry.

Maybe Augustín will be important for the Camilo smack down. I'm sure he will eventually find out what he did to his darling daughter. I'm taking his comment about hembrita as, he has a daughter & has always wanted a son too.

Yes, Gardenia is really getting out of hand. She said to Fr/Ed, WE have to do something about those girls.

Gloria, I only see Cuidado while waiting for MEPS, & it always seems to be the same thing, girl in hospital, Wm Levy sad, some nasty blond, probably Wm. Levy's wife who tricked him into marriage.
Is it any good? On the FELS, MEPS scale, where do you think it s/b?

Variopinta to answer your question about Cuidado. Anything is better then FELS. I loved EY and that is the only reason I stayed watching it. Paula H seriously no biggie.

Once again to all recapers....you are great and it is nice to read the recaps even on a Sunday morning with hot tea.....
I love the FR/ED and Fern kissing at the love shack....they need to go there more.... My heart breaks for Pris if she loses the baby....no matter who the dad is....i hope it is saved....Barbie and gonzo hooking up is...ugh....but everybody needs a little lovin... barbie is protecting her back side with the big daddy on her side.....Poor lili....2 steps forward...now with barbies visit.....4 steps back.... what the heck will happen now that Aurora and Santi are going back to the Hacienda?....AB told barbie she was dead.....Monday should be a good night...see you all there.....BN in CA

Gloria...finally got a chance to read the recap. Glad you noted how HOT Franco/Eduardo's smile was, when sitting on the couch. For some reason I found Colunga extra adorable in Friday's episode....

Okay, the kiss. Yes, obvious. But also that, the grrrrrreat smile when talking to Esteve. And even his "oh jeez now what!" look when Esteve warned him Gardenia was on the warpath. Totally captivating. I'm officially in love. Or else officially senile. Whatever. It rocks.

Also loved the scenes between Damian and Vlad. That devil Damian plays him like a fiddle...it's delicious. And baby Vlad just falls for it all. Those two crack me up.

The Anibal-Priscilla relationship remains a total mystery. So she's planning to bring the child up to hate his putative father? Not a good parenting plan.

Gonzalo/Barbara sex scene puke-worthy but must say the old dude put a lot of energy into it. These cameramen love the thigh/stocking/garter belt shots. Reminiscent of the same shot of Fernandas white stocking when dressing for the wedding. Well, guess they know what works.

Menfolk, I hope you got your due the other night. We gals certainly did.

Yeah, Judy, I wasn't thrilled with Pris's attitude. I've been sympathetic to her up to this point, but I did not like that side of her.

Then again, maybe she's not planning to raise the kid to be spiteful and rotten; perhaps she simply expects that the child will naturally grow to hate Ani as much as she does, just on general principal!

Thanks for stepping in for Jardinera, Gloria , and providing us with that excellent, detailed recap. I appreciate your time and your talent. Wowee wow. That scene of Babs in the black lingerie was a surprise. ''I'm giving you a treatment that only the king of the house deserves.'' [I wish I knew what that meant...but then again...maybe not.] I'm sure our resident hombes here enjoyed Babs looking all sexy and comehither. For me...not so much. I thought it was pretty funny that in the afterglow , the two were cuddling and Gonzo still had his undershirt and shirt on !!! Odd. Unlike FC, they are keeping this dude covered up. I kept thinking of that song ''You Can Leave Your Hat on.'' I guess the director told this actor ''You can leave everything on...Just open your shirt buttons so that the viewers realize that you and Babs actually did do the bunny hop ) hop) hop). '' I liked Fr'ed's hand kiss. I used to have a friend [Sandy] who would tell the guys ''You may kiss my hand'' when the bottle pointed at her in Spin-the-Bottle. Well, did Art rape Babs when she was a teen , and is Aurora their lovechild ? That seems to be where this is headed. Fr/ed is a growing industry...Now Venus is going to ask for a job. I wonder which of Venus's many and varied talents Fr/ed will use. Also, why did Martina think that she could leave poor Lili alone and have a few days of vacation at Las Animas with her BFF????

Now that we've seen Bravo's face, he's clearly (as Aurora noted) younger than Gonzo. I wouldn't hazard a guess as to his age, but I suspect that Bravo did not rape Babs, but perhaps was an "older" boyfriend (ie. was too old for her parents' taste, but it was consensual).

That would explain why it's not so difficult for her to go to bed with Gonzo - the resemblance between the two men doesn't seem to be a problem at all. I figure that if Bravo had been either a rapist or a relative, Babs probably wouldn't be able to bear a single night with Gonzo.

Now. During the endless scene with Santi last week (when they were talking about that drawing), Aurora said she used to imagine walking between her parents, with Mommy holding one hand and Daddy holding the other. I wonder, was that really a wish, or a memory from very, very early childhood? Babs and Bravo? Someone else? Maybe Babs and Bravo raised her together for a short time? (Doubtful, but it would be nice if Aurora could find out that her parents really loved her.)

Aurora speculated that Bravo might be a gangster, something to do with the cockfights Dominga used to go to. Perhaps Babs met Bravo at age 15; he was an aspiring gangster, Mom didn't approve, Babs got knocked up, Mom tried to take the baby away, Babs killed Mom (perhaps with Bravo's help).

I'm equally fascinated by Dominga. How'd she get involved in this mess? Did Bravo know what kind of person she was? If Aurora was so important to him, why'd he ever put her in Dominga's care in the first place??

I know what job Venus can do: she can polish all the chrome in Fr/Ed's workout room, preferably while he's working out. I think Gardenia would die from the jealousy.

Actually, Gardenia's jealousy could really be a problem. She knows a lot of secrets. If Ed's announcing an engagement to Erika, spending private time with Fernanda, refusing to turn Venus away, etc. will Gardenia feel betrayed? Vengeful, even? She could do a lot worse than hide a shoebox full of billets-doux.

JudyB, I'd be more worried if you weren't enamorada de FC. There is no one that can even come close, not Brad Pitt, Geo Clooney, & definitely not Eduardo Yáñez. Jorge Salinas is pretty cute though. I may be old but I ain't dead.

Barbara said the kids are all adults now? Shouldn't Anibal and Camilo be about the same age as Barbara, if not older (Anibal)?

Anibal was in college & Camilo was being his gilipolla self right before Babs came on the scene. Fernanda & Santiago were younger. Not sure if Liliana is younger or older than Camilo.

I went back to the first week of recaps, I think the birth order is:

Anibal
Liliana
Camilo
Fernanda
Santiago

Before, I thought it was

Anibal
Camilo
Liliana
Fernanda
Santiago

I guess a key to the current ages would be if this story is set in 2007 or 2009. 2007 would be 15 years later, 2009 would be 17 years later.

So if Anibal was headed off to college in episodes 1/2, he would be about 35 (if the story is set in '09).

Liliana would be about 33, Camilo from 32-29, Fernanda 27, Santiago 22-24.

I think Aurora is 20. FrEd appears to be slightly older than Fernanda, so I'll put him around 30.

Babs would be anywhere between 35 and 40.

They need to shut down Gardenia ASAP. She's acting like the wronged wife when Martina and Venus showed up. She'll probably spill the beans after following FrEd to the loveshack and watching him get it on with Fernanda.

Gloria, Thanks for stepping up and doing double duty for those of us that really need our MEPS fix. I really appreciate it.

I think Fr/Ed could have placated Gardenia a little more. She was over the line, but sheesh, she has almost been killed because of him a few times.

JudyB, I also don't understand the Pricilla-Anibal relationship.

It was a great end of the week. After being so aggravated by Fr/Ed's childish jealousy and petty mean-spiritedness toward Fernanda, I was enchanted by Thurs. and Fri. I loved the kiss, I love FC's trim waist in a white dress shirt with rolled up sleeves, I love Fr/Ed's expression as Fer poured herself a drink, I loved the hand kiss and I too loved Fr/Ed's smile as he lounged on the couch. Oh, be still my beating heart!

By the way, I also think Fer's dress is very pretty. I also liked her acting the whole post-kiss scene and her smile after Fr/Ed kissed her hand. Looking forward to tomorrow's episode.
Barbara

Thank you, Gloria, for the excellent recap.

Does Barb have a matching whip and chains in her closet somewhere, though, she doesn't need to use them on Gonzo as witnessed by the way he ripped off his jacket. LOL

And yes, why are they wasting precious time on Dolly's menopause unless it affects the plot later, which I doubt it does.

I am enjoying F C and Silvia Navarro as the leads and she is a terrific actress especially compared to Slofia. E Y is still one of my faves...I forgive him for FELS. GinCA

Does anyone know if Eduardo Yanez is working on a new novela. I am missing yjr big guy.

Hmmm....''yjr''...That was supposed to be ''the.''

Thanks, Gloria, for an excellent recap, with lots of detail, and good observations.

Babs thinks she killed her parents. Artemio Bravo reinforces that, too. But what if, when she was 15, AB actually killed them, and just made Babs THINK she killed them (sort of like Liliana, although she knows she didn't kill her mother). And then Babs' entire life of evil servitude to AB would have been a fraud. I know this is unlikely, but it would be a fun development. If true, Babs would definitely want to kill AB.

Barbara - I have been thinking the same thing about Fernanda's dress. It really is gorgeous, and she looks really good in it. It also sort of makes me think of a wedding dress.

About the menopause side plot ... The South American telenovelas that I have seen usually have one or two side plots that they give some attention to (e.g., in BLF the Sofia/quitamarido plot and in a lesser manner, Patricia). I think it is just their style and it usually is not annoying. Problem is Telerisa and in MEPS it is being poorly done.

H de M - I like your theory of AB framing Babs and letting her think she killed them. It will be interesting to see how this story unfolds.

Gardenia suffers from Queen Bee Syndrome, IMO.

Thanks for the recap Gloria. I don't get the whole Dolly baby thing either. It's not even interesting. I still think THE KISS was hot, hot, hot!

Gardenia needs to cool it. It was kind of funny at first but it is getting old.

Barb and Gonzo--ewww, almost as bad as Gabriella and Fernando.

Connie, I like Hombre de Misterio's theory about Babs. In this Novela it makes perfect sense.

Ibarramedia

Actually, it would be JUST LIKE Bravo to let Babs think she'd killed her parents. After all, he was only too happy to let her think that her daughter died at birth.

And I'm still fuming at the thought of him shedding a tear over Aurora's death after letting her be raised by an abusive drunkard.

Yeah, I know. It's just that I had to take my beanie off for a while because it's laundry night.

Gloria, thanks for the funny recap!

I don't care for Gardenia now and even before now. She is pushy, loud, impulsive and not the brightest bulb (sorry Gardenia if you are reading this!!) More that that, she is hiding the important LETTERS. I can't figure out if I don't like the character or the actress' interpretation of the character. She bothers me more than Arora.

It will be some "flip flop" if the writers try and bring sympathy to Babs, she has been so very bad for so long, we will have to suspend a mountain of disbelief to watch the turnaround.

Fernanda has a style of her own, lacy dresses and leather boots, then in her dinner with FrEd, a dress with a giant bow in the back. Somehow she pulls it off and looks great.

Sandy in TN

Well, the same actress played an annoying character in LFMB who was a petty, two-faced, nasty character. I don't think it's the actress's personality, though; I think it's just the roles she's playing.

In fact, when I mentally compare the two roles, they're very, very different (except for the annoyance factor). Gardenia is immature, but she's still one of the "good guys." Jasmin was a husband-stealing gold digger. It's actually hard to believe it's the same actress!

Julie,

When Esteve gave FrEd the warning about Gardenia, there was a dramatic pause. Do you think that this means that she will be more of a problem in the future. His warning seemed to signify something important.

Thanks for the info on the actress!

Sandy in TN

It's hard to know what Gardenia will do. I expected that she'd read the letters when she had the chance, but I didn't think she'd go so far as to hide them. That surprised me. Hopefully that's as bad as she gets, but who knows? :-(

Still, no matter what she does, it would be a case of her being stupid and immature, not evil. I can envision her doing a lot of damage out of a dumb angry impulse (and maybe having to pay some consequences), but not going to the dark side of the Force or anything like that. At least, I hope not!

Susanlynn:

I read that EY will start filming this summer in a remake of "Corazon Salvaje". Here is the story:

http://www.oem.com.mx/esto/notas/n1203836.htm

Can't be soon enough for me!

Jane

No puede ser, no puede ser. Everyone was upset when they were going to cast TBLMOE in Corazon Salvaje. It's was almost like sacrilege. Actually it sounded pretty good to me. FC seemed perfect for the part. But Ed Yañez? No puede ser!

Gloria that was a fantastic recap!

I liked the scenes with Fr/ed and Fernanda, I think Fernando and Silvia are taking their time warming up to each other, but they are slowly forming a nice chemistry.

Sussalynn: I am glad that Gonzalo got to keep his clothes on.

Paula I'm with you about Yañez, he is no Juan Del Diablo, not only is he too old (Juan is supposed to be 27) but I don't think he has what it takes to fill the role, especially after Eduardo Palomo was so magnificent.

I had heard the rumor that Mejía wanted Yañez as Juan, but this article says its confirmed, it also says that Salvador Mejía still didn't have an Aimé and Mónica and mentions Ninel Conde as a possible Aimé (NO!), but according to some rumors he wants Danna García as Mónica and Silvia Navarro as Aimé, who knows.

Jarocha

If the role calls for a lot of yelling, Yáñez will be perfect, that's what he does best, not to be confused with acting.

I tried to watch FELS many times but couldn't. I like to have at least one novela going to help with my Spanish. While I like Adela Noriega, I could never get into the plot or especially E Yanez as a galan. He looks more like a Mexican bandito from the old days than the love interest for Adlela after Amor Real.

Sandy in TN

Does anyone know if the same actor that's playing Gonzolo is also playing Artemio Bravo, just with a wig, etc.? Because I was thinking that maybe Artemio Bravo is Gonzolo's brother or half brother. Just a thought.

If Mejía is doing the remake of Corazon Salvaje, then it will surely be popular... but I'm not sure if I want to see it.

Anon 9:31, it's the same actor, and in the teaser/synopsis that was published before they aired the telenovela, it said they're half-brothers, though this hasn't been revealed in the story yet.

If "Bravo" isn't his real name (maybe it is, but I'd guess not), then we can't even assume which side of the family they're half-brothers on.

If they are 1/2 brothers, will that make the coupling of Aurora and Santi acceptable, assuming Artie is Aurora's dad and Gonzy is actually Santiago's real father? Are we going to have to recruit a geneticist to sort these family ties out? Will there be a sequel called Liberación?

Plunkpluplunk plunk plunk.

"Marielena"

And now for the adoring fans of Colunga, the finest ejemplo de virilidad.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zI2YUMe2uJE

I had forgotten all about Yañez in Marielena, it's so weird that Lucía Mendez is considered old now and he is still making novelas, of course she was older than him but still.

Juan Del Diablo is a complicated character, both a gentleman and a bandit, brave, all fierce, full of passion and jealousy with Aimée and so sweet and tender with Mónica:

I just can't see Yañez in the role.

Jarocha.

I agree Jarocha,
EY is almost 50 years old. That part is for a young person.
There must be some good young actors other than Wm. Levy.

Jane~~~Thanks for the info. I am unfamiliasr with Corazon Salvaje, but if a young, handsome, virile actor is needed in this novela, may I suggest my telenovio Marcelo Cordova [Luis's boduguard in Alborada and the tialoving abuelo killer in Amar sin Limites.] He is super delicious , but he has never had the leading male role to the best of my knowledge. I think that he would make a great galan.

I was actually thinking of Marcelo Córdoba Susalynn, that's a good choice, I was picturing him more as Andrés (Juan's halfbrother and part of the love rectangle), but looking through the Pasión clips on youtube with Marcelo in long hair I could picture him as Juan.

Variopinta: I think there are tons of better actors than Levy, maybe not as pretty as him though.

Sorry, fans, but I have to side with Gardenia on this one. She’s a childhood friend who Eduardo is treating like a servant. OK, she is a servant, but a friend first. Maybe if he treated her with a little more respect she’d ease up on the raging. OK, she hid the letters, but I bet she comes forth with them in the end. If I were in her shoes and some hussy moved in looking for a job, I’d be pissed off too. This behavior is in keeping with her character—not a mean person, just a working class girl with an unstoppable crush on TBLMOE. Even if Gardenia weren’t in love with Ed, she wouldn’t want some gum-popping mud wrestler working there. Also he needs her on his side. Just a little effort on his side would keep her there. And she put her life on the line for him TWICE. Come on man! as Esteve would say.

Gloria: A wonderful recap, so glad you are filling in. Those unfamiliar with your recaps from Cuidado are in for a treat!

I'm at work trying to read comments in between but a few points.

Carlos, I always enjoy your comments. While logically it makes sense for Sole to be Lili's mother, it is a heartbreaking possibility emotionally. If so, Soledad literally comdemned Lili to a drug-induced, hellish institutionalized life. I know Sole wanted to protect Eduardo, but if she sacrificed her other child, Lili, to do so, it would be unforgiveable.

Hombre, loved your suggestion that AB may have only tricked Babs into thinking she'd killed her parents. It will be very interesting to see if you're right!

Barbara, excellent point that Gardenia has almost been killed several times in order to protect Fr/Ed. We should cut her some slack. After all, jealousy never killed anyone, right? :)

Keeping in mind that this is all fairly silly FICTION: Beth, I agree with you that Gardenia should be annoyed that Esteve and FrEd are accepting of a gum popping, prettier than she is, slightly course, mud wrestler that has descended upon them from the local cheap bar, but to your other point, sometimes people treat you in the manner that you direct them to by your actions and comportment. If she could tone it down a little, she might find that she is treated differently. Her sister and Jacinto have a tough time dealing with her as well. They kept the Franco/ Eduardo secret from her because they thought she would blab didn't they?

I found some hombres guapos y jovenes, I just don't know if they can act

Gonzolo García Vivanco, 26 "Verano de Amor"

Jencarlos Canela, 21 "Pecados Ajenoa"

Pedro Moreno, 28 "El Rostro de Analia"

Arap Bethke, 29 "Doña Barbara"

Aarón Díaz, 27 "Barrera de Amor"

Anon 9:31- Yes, it is the same actor playing Gonzo and Bravo. He just has dark brown contacts and a dark wig and fake facial hair as Bravo. Seems to me that this is to mean that they are related.

Thanks for the recap Gloria (and double duty as well).

Diana - ITA with your take on Soledad not being Lil's mom. Based on what she did for Fr/Ed, if she were Lil's mom, she would have done something to keep her child from suffering.

It's really going to be interesting to see if Bravo is actually Aurora's dad. Then, based on novela conventions, Santi will somehow not be Gonzo's child.

There were a host of goodlooking young guaypo guys on Dona Barbara , and they were pretty good actors, too. However, that was on Telemundo. Well, anyhoo, it seems that the most popular actors get the leading roles regardless of age. It seems that it is the norm on telenovelas for 40 year olds to play the parts of 20 somethings, and this applies to the female roles as well. I guess that's just the way it is. I'm looking forward to seeing Eduardo again. Is Corazon Salvage a period novela ?

Mejía is producing the Corazon Salvaje remake? OMG, it will be a guaranteed circus. Complete sacrilege. I adore the Edith Gonzalez/Eduardo Palomo version. It is perfection; why mess with it? If Telerisa would simply re-run it, their ratings would soar. I cannot watch the remake, especially with Yañez as Juan. Aaack.

susanlynn - CS is a period piece:

Beth, I'm with you on Gardenia. She's beautiful, resourceful, and deceptively intelligent. She is, of course outspoken, bot would we want her to be a meek, demure, yes-woman? I think not. She is an untamed spitfire who is unflinchingly loyal to Eddie, who frankly at this point doesn't deserve that loyalty. She may not be fearless, but neither does she lose her head when she is afraid. Yes, I know about those letters, but his own mama kept them from him for 15yrs. Esteve has an appreciation for her qualities. I for one love hearing her chatter on. She has a unique grasp of the language which she uses cleverly and colorfully. I say put her in charge of Lil, she will at least be proactive. If allowed to develop unmolested, in fact, I believe that Lil would have turned out much like Gardenia, frisky, sassy, and probably a bit annoying. I know that no minds are changed, but I feel better.

Carlos

Please don't tell me Mejia is of infamous FELS, if so I pass right now.

Yeah, he is the producer of FELS, I'm not expecting anything good either, and apparently Silvia Navarro will not play Aimée since she will began filming a movie in two weeks, she was the only one I liked in the rumored cast and Aimée is my favorite character, so there goes the only good thing I had heard of the new version.

Jarocha.

Thanks, Carlos.

Jarocha, Paula, and Doris, I had not heard of Corazon Salvage until now, so I popped over to youtube and watched this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x199Avm3Ppc

Wow. Two of my faves, Eduardo Paloma and Edith Gonzales. Doris, I think you are right, just bring this back.

Carlos

Carlos and Beth,

I'll end my participation in the Gardenia discussion on a point made by you, Carlos:

"She is an untamed spitfire who is unflinchingly loyal to Eddie, who frankly at this point doesn't deserve that loyalty."

I totally agree!

Carlos - thanks for the CS link-it was a pleasure to watch it. That version is the 2nd remake (3rd version) and the best one, by all votes around.

The music is particularly wonderful and compelling. After watching the YouTube, I may have to go to the vault and watch some CS! Eduardo Palomo and Edith Gonzalez had beautiful chemistry in that telenovela. ( . . . sighs . . . )Oh, be still, my heart...

Eduardo Palomo and Edith González as Juan and Mónica were great, this character kind of ate Palomo since nobody in México stopped picturing him as Juan Del Diablo, but he still got some good roles later like "Ramona", this novela helped Edith to become one of the biggest telenovela stars ever, her later characters have been mostly different to Mónica, who is very sweet and tame, but I really like her strong characters, Ana Colchero (Aimée) was going to be as succesful as Edith, since she got the lead in Carla Estrada's production of "Alondra" from te same writer as "Corazón Salvaje" wich was a huge hit, and was the lead in a couple more succesful telenovelas but se decided to quit acting and became a writer and a politic activist, the only one who hasn't had the best luck out of them is Ariel Lopez Padilla, he has gotten steady work but is still on the shadow of other actors, but he was also good as Andrés.

Some good pictures can be found here:

Hi everyone. Can someone clear something up for me? I addressed it a couple of episodes ago, but still didn't get my answer. I know who Artemio Bravo is - not what kind of connection or what the big mystery he has - just who he is. The confusing thing is, I don't know how I know this. I thought we all knew it. Do we all know it or not?

Jazee, I was hoping someone else would give you an answer. I'm not sure what you mean that you know who AB is. The only certainties so far from what we've seen is : #1 Artemio Bravo hates the Alzalde family enough to devote 15yrs. of Bab's life to destroying it #2 he has a great deal invested in Aurora #3 he resembles our Gonzo #4 Soledad knew him #5 our Lil overheard his name when he and Babs were on the phone # 6 he has Hellish taste in art #7 he has fat hands #8 he's rich #9 he has a great deep voice #10 he has a dreadful ability in picking employees, as far as I know everything else that we know is hearsay. Carlos

Jazzee, oh, and he likes whisky and puros... but then, don't we all? Carlos

My husband and I were speculating after seeing AB this week. I always assumed they would end up being brothers, since we knew for a long time that it was the same actor. However, now it's clear they have gone to great pains to make AB seem much younger than Gonzalo.

So what if Gonzalo is actually AB's father? And his vengeance has something to do with Gonzo leaving a very young wife/gf in his youth and then striking it rich once he's with his new wife/family?

However, it also seems likely that AB and Barbara are Aurora's parents - I mean AB's cracking voice? What else could it be? But then like someone else said, it would be sort of gross unless Santiago turns out to be someone else's son.

Anyway, good week of shows...

A

Jazzee, does my comment from 10:02 this morning answer your question? If it doesn't, then maybe I don't understand your question.

Julie, not sure which comment from 10:02, from all the other comments i.e. Carlos, talk about TMI ha ha.
Anyway, I guess what I was trying to find out without giving a spoiler was did we ALL know it was the same actor? I think early on several people speculated about the brother angle, so that's why I thought I actually knew who he was. Jeez, shades of Mundo de Fieras when the 2 brothers (one good, one evil) one had been raised rich and one poor. Thanks for all of you bearing with me

Jazzee, my comment was "it's the same actor, and in the teaser/synopsis that was published before they aired the telenovela, it said they're half-brothers, though this hasn't been revealed in the story yet."

i.e. we knew because the Esmas and/or Univision websites told us even before we saw the first episode and it was translated and posted here on Caray.
