MEPS - June 9th - Bells: Santi Rings Aurora's, Does it Toll for Fr/Ed?, and Erika's Just a Ding Dong

Capitulo 81 –

From last night: SWAT Team is guarding Las Animas. We get treated to Esteve’s verbal beating of Fr/Ed – Jesus Lopez!!!!! (Thanks, Kalilah!) Really is there any need to Esteve to yell and scream at him?

Fr/Ed says he understands what Steve’s trying to tell him, while his voice cracks and his beautiful, deep brown, sexy eyes fill up with big ‘ol alligator tears. (Thankfully, no high pitched squealing!)

Vlad comes to visit Nanda in her office. She begins to grill Vlad as to Damian’s whereabouts. She says Damian called her and she asks if he thinks it’s a coincidence since she had recently asked Vlad about Damian. Vlad pretends to act surprised. She asks once again, if he knows where Damian is – Vlad takes a big gulp – I don’t think Vlad’s a very good liar!

Back at Dominga’s Dump, Santi is helping Abora pack up her stuff. Santi finds a book from when Abora was a little girl in school. Santi tells a boring story about when he was a little girl. Blah, blah, Abora goes on about her sad past. Poor me. No, make that, poor us. FF>

Padre Bosco and Gardenia are trying to convince the ESWAT Team that they are welcome at Las Animas. Instead of checking with Franco, Eswat Jefe lets them through – brilliant.

Fr/Ed is pissed off because Fernanda desecrated the old barn that was their secret place by going there with Dumian. Denia runs in and tells Fr/Ed that Padre Bosco was almost murdered last night. Fr/Ed and Esteve are muy impactados.

Babs and Gonzo are at the office discussing the new developments on the Board of Grupo Lactos with their new board member Franco. Babs says she feels helpless because she doesn’t have any of the company shares in her own name – she reminds Gonzo she married him for love, not money. Gonzo looks confused – so what else is new.

Nanda and Florecita literally collide in the hallway outside Gonzo’s office. Flor rushes off and just as Nanda’s about to knock on the door, she overhears Gonzo’s conversation with Babs. He’s telling Babs she’s the most important person in his life, and that even though Nanda is Daddy’s Little Girl, he’ll never let Nanda say or do anything against Barb, and that if he winds up having to choose between Babs or his children, the choice is clear – he chooses Babs. Nanda can’t believe what she’s hearing and walks away from the door. She finally realizes that Babs has Gonzo’s cojones locked up in the safe with her jewelry. Babs hugs Gonzo.

Fr/Ed forbids Padre Bosco from going to Artemio Bravo’s office to confront him. Fr/Ed assures Gardenia she’ll be safe at Las Animas now that he’s hired the guards. She thinks it’s really sweet that he’s done that – Gardenia showing shades of Errorika. Esteve goes on to say it’s better if Artemio Bravo doesn’t know who Franco Santoro is for now.

Nanda is acting like her childish friend Errorika also, talking to the phone and begging Franco to call. Errorika comes rushing in squealing with joy – she needs Nanda’s opinion of something. Errorika tells Nanda that she’s been keeping the truth from her all this time – that she and Franco are not boyfriend and girlfriend. She explains how the whole situation between them came about. Nanda looks relieved. Errorika tells Nanda about Franco’s plan to announce their “engagement” the night of the big party. Nanda’s not so happy anymore.

Fr/Ed’s going to pay Artemio a visit and assured Padre Bosco he’ll be fine.

Errorika tells Nanda she’s sure Franco wants to go through with this farce in order to make another woman jealous. Nanda asks Errorika if she knows who the woman is and she says no, but it’s obvious that Franco is in love with this woman. Erika says since Nanda and Franco work together, Nanda has to try and find out who Erika’s secret rival is. Doesn’t look like Errorika is giving up any time soon!

Back at Vlad’s Pad, Damian is trying to get it through his mother’s head that she cannot tell Fernanda that he’s shackin’ up with Vlad. Mommy wants to know if Nanda is going to help Damian prove his innocence. Dam’s pissed and doesn’t want to listen to anything Mommy has to say and treats his mother really badly.

Erika tells Nanda the only reason why Franco hasn’t gone after Nanda is because Nanda is married – or “semi-married”. Nanda tells Erika that’s foolish, but she will try to find out who the mystery woman is.

Erika leaves and Nanda picks up the phone to call Franco who’s driving to Cigarman’s office right now. Franco’s phone rings – he sees that it’s Nanda calling and doesn’t answer it. He enters the lobby and asks for Artemio Bravo’s office. He gets a pass to go upstairs – some security, huh?

Gonzo comes to see Nanda in her office. He knows there’s something important she wants to talk to him about. She tells him she’s very worried and blames it all on Damian’s disappearance, and they haven’t heard from the police. Gonzo reassures her everything will work out with the company, and they’ll continue to look for Damian. Daddy Gonzo leaves and she stares at her cell phone waiting for Franco’s call.

Franco enters Cigarman’s Inner Sanctum – no questions asks. He tells a secretary he’s there to see Artemio Bravo, actually in place of someone that had an appointment at noon. She says unfortunately they’re in the middle of moving their offices and that unfortunately Senor Cigarman has already gone to the new offices. She more than willingly hands over a card with the new office address on it. Hijole – this is a set up! She calls Cigarman to alert him that the man is on his way to the address she gave him.

At Dominga’s Dump once again, we find Santi and Abora canoodling on a mattress on the floor. Sweet sapping kissing, professing their love to each other. Uh oh, Santi’s shirt is off and he takes Abora’s dress off. (I cannot believe she’s let herself be deflowered this easily! She couldn’t even stand to tell a lie less than a week ago!) I really DON’T want to see the two of them doing this at all. I want leading man material!!!! Please stop the insanity!

Thank goodness, back to the normal world. Fer asks Flor for copies of some papers when Prisci shows up in the lobby and Vlad almost comes unglued and asks if it’s a girl or a boy. The girls look at Vlad like he’s a psycho – which he is - he skulks off.

Tomasa’s in the kitchen when Jacinto arrives at the back door to deliver invitations to the Elizaldes for the big bash. Tomasa catches Jacinto up on all the gossip at the Hacienda, including that supposedly Gonzo’s car was stolen while Babs had it at the office. He tells Tomasa it’s weird because Cadmilho has been coming around looking for his Dad’s car.

After the lovin’ – Aurora cries tears of joy. They discuss the joys of sex and how she never thought it would be that nice. (Countdown to pregnancy?)

Cad comes looking for Jacinto at the Elizalde stables. Jacinto says he thought Cad had forgotten that he was waiting for him. I don’t remember them making a date. Did I miss something? Cad wants the car back and Jacinto tells him too bad he has to wait or he’s going to tell Gonzo it’s not true that the car was stolen from Barb at the office. Jacinto says he’ll be waiting there for him tomorrow, and he hopes he’ll show up a little earlier – Go Jacinto!

Nanda goes to her Nandamobile but tries to call Franco once more before she drives off – no answer. Vlad slinks out to his Mini Cooper and Nanda watches him from her rearview mirror and it looks like she decides to follow him.

Franco pulls up to the AB’s new office address given to him by the secretary – it looks like a house. He asks a man if he’s got the right address. He continues walking only to find a cemetery with a black crow sitting on top of one of the headstones. Oh yeah, that was the same crow that was in the cemetery the night they buried Gabriela from FELS! Hmmmm . . .the crow sure gets a lot of work - must be Union.

Sorry guys, this was from You Tube, and I can’t even stay awake to watch the previews here in Phoenix. I’m exhausted from work and preparing for our trip. We’re leaving for Mexico on Saturday, and hubby’s visa appointment in Ciudad Juarez is next Tuesday – wish us luck! Then we head off to Mexico City. Thanks again to Julie who will be doing my recaps for the next 2 Tuesdays. But I’ll be checking in periodically!

A note about Meps and its close to airdate filming.
All of the novelas being filmed in Mexico City were closed down because of the swine flu, some were down for more than a week, this put all of the novelas including Meps behind schedule. This probably is why they are not finished filming with the finale looming so close.

At least people on this show have cars. Fernanda has the Toyota FJ Cruiser, Vlad has the mini cooper, Anibal had a BMW, Babs has an SUV, I think Gonzo had a BMW, Steve has what looks like to be a teeny Toyota or Honda hybrid/fuel efficient looking car and FrEd has what I think might be a Buick?

In FELS the only cars you saw was Fernando's black truck, Gabriela's black SUV and Sophia's white Jeep. Everyone else either had a horse, a burro or Quintina's clown car. LOL

I think it interesting that the lady at Artemio's office apparently hadn't been told to look for a priest. She also didn't describe Franco or otherwise say he wasn't a priest when she talked to Artemio.

So, Artemio must think the priest came by and sent the priest to the cemetery. I wonder if Padre Bosco would have recognized something about that particular cemetery??

While there has been talk of how wimpy the role written for Colunga is, I am happy that that Fernanda's role is a strong woman type. So many Telenovela's show la protaganista as a lovely pushover She plays a strong lead, a la Edith Gonzales and Kate del Castillo.

It should be so easy to find out where Artemio moved his offices - in the real world - but we are in telenovela land, so this move must stymy our guys for a week or two, huh...

Franco's car looks like a Chrysler to me, but I could be wrong.

Hi Melissa, I hope you have a great trip. Thank you for the recap.

I thought the love scene between Santiago and Aurora was one of the dopiest ever and I am usually a sap for that sort of thing. I really liked the song by Mana though.

Wasn't it fun when Jacinto pissed off Camilo?

Silverfox, I also like Fernanda (in spite of her severe eyebrows). She's not the typical heroine.

Hey Melissa...have a good trip. Excellent recap, by the way. Lots of humor. I loved your personal take on things...especially not wanting to see a looooong (endless, wasn't it?) love scene between Aurora and Santiago.

Like Sylvia, I'm a pushover for sappy love scenes but this was somehow unpleasant and disturbing and looooong. (ditto though, Sylvia...I like the song...they used it in Tontas also).

When they first started kissing, there was a tear rolling down Aurora's cheek but I thought it was saliva!!! Yuck...made the whole thing even worse.

I DID enjoy Sergio Sendel's trademark tantrum scene. He does hissy fits so well. And mom is kind of a drip, so I'm not overly sympathetic. Still....

Thanks m'dear and traveling mercies to you and your husband.

Jesus Lopez ! That was a great recap, Melissa ! Thanks for some morning giggles. I enjoyed the ESWAT label. The love scene between Sad and Sadder made me feel uncomfortable. However, like Sylvia, I enjoyed the deflowering music. Dam is now surely damned for talking to Mommy so disrespectfully...spoiled brat. She's annoying, Dude, but she's your mother. Thanks, Lesa, for the information.

Hi, Judyb~~~Fellow early riser. Yawnnnnnnnn

Of course you're an early riser, Susanlynn..you've got a little one to chase! So sorry about the theft of your daughter's wallet, credit cards etc. And you're right, whatever affects them affects us. When we lived in a suburb outside of Philly, I left my car unlocked JUST ONCE.... and the radio was ripped out. That disabled the car so we ended up having to get a rental to drive back to Indiana for Christmas.

Thanks for the recap Melissa. I just couldn't concentrate on it last night so missed a lot.

Fr/Ed's little tantrums--get over it and grow up.

Meester James getting his freak on--Ewwwwwww!

Nanda/Err--stop that stupid squealing. How old are you anyway? 12?

Eswat team--ridiculous

Melissa - thank you for the recap and .... Have a safe and wonderful trip to Mexico! You had with “ESWAT team” LOL!

Are there telenovelas rules regarding men like Damian who treat their mothers badly? Grisly end, purgatory, whatever???

Curls & Sniffles finally did "it." Now really, fellow viewers, are we surprised she cried … yet again? Ugh. I watched in ‘live’ time so all I could do was MUTE. And that 'bendito' song drove me crazy, so repetitious.

YIKES! Black crow at the cemetery.. I wonder whose number is up next?

CARS: I'm sure FrEd is driving a Lincoln and Esteve's car is Toyota (either Matrix or Venza)

Dog trainer comes in a few minutes; we're teaching the puppy some manners. Ha. La Maestra es Boricua.

Thanks for the recap, Melissa, and have a fun, safe trip.

The swat team- great security, just because Denia and Bosco look harmless, you don't just let them in. Wonder if they have been trusted with live ammo.

Fer must be really getting suspicious of Babs by now, or at least less secure in her (and that of her bros, too) power in the family and company. She is going to start standing up to Babs- watch the sparks fly! I, like so many others, really like Fer. She is strong, just, and noble, treats everyone with respect and never cops an attitude. Sylvia is pretty esy on the eyes, too, (the eyebrows don't bother me).

I don't think that Eddy is showing good judgement, going to see Ciggy, especially when he is being set up, which he MUST see. Interesting that Ciggy was scared enough to move his office by just the threat of a visit from Bosco, like a disturbed colony of ants. I can't imagine that this is an intended hit, but what else could it be? Good to see our old friend from FELS, el cuervo, back at work.

Jacinto turning the table on Cad is soo much fun, and Cad can't do anything about it- PRICELESS!

dorado dave

One more comment- the love scene with Santi and Abora- boring, and went on way too long. Loved the MAna tune that went with it, tho.

Dona Gringuita here--Thanks for the recap Melissa. As for the yelling and screaming between Esteve and Fr/Ed, it seems very Mexican to me. I don't experience it as violent but as passionate, as in, culturally, if you really care about someone (especially between male buds), screaming is not considered weird but indicative of the intensity of the relationship.

Yes, Santi and Abora's tryst was rather lame (and yes embarasada alert!), but I liked the beautiful Mana song in the background, Bendiga la Luz (Bless The Light), which seems rather ironic since both seem so "in the dark" about so many things.

I don't get how Fr/Ed just thinks he can waltz in and schmooze with Cigarman. Don't all Don Corleone types do business by appointment only and then only if they want to see you? In the case of Fr/Ed I would think Cigarman would prefer to see him horizontally in a body bag rather than standing vertically, no?

Good luck with migra in Juarez. Arghh, I've had to deal with the same issues in J Town myself. Not my idea of fun and games.

Melissa, once more a funny mordant recap. I am disappointed with generally icy reception to the tender, almost fragile coupling of our two little doves. Maybe I was somewhat blinded by that lovely song. I was also amused that that scene was abruptly juxtaposed with those two gorgeous horses engaged in frisky foreplay. The intent and intense black stallion with his proud impressive horsehood dangling in the breeze like a lonely participle, pursuing the lovely white mare with that luxurious white tail hoisted in eager bienvenidas. Excuse me while I search for a cigarette.

Carlos

Ha..Carlos ! You are in rare form this morning ! LOL from all your horseplay references.

In truth, we all know that those two strong, dynamic, frisky horses galloping around that verdant grass symbolize Fr/ed and Fern....when and where???...who knows. [Talk about delayed gratification...Basta !] Sad and Sadder seemed more like two trembling , snottyfaced little bunnies...Thumper and His Girl ???? Sometimes Santi reminds me of Will Ferrell. When Babs is gazing in her vanity mirror brushing her hair , I always hear ''Mirror, Mirror, on the wall.....'' ...Wicked Stepmother talk.

I've been trying to figure out the brand of FrEd's car since the beginning because it is handsome. Isn't it funny that we all recognize the foreign cars but are having difficulty with the American brand? I guess that this is, in a small way, a commentary on the situation the car companies are in on a national level. Nonetheless, it is good to see a great looking American car navigating the dusty Mexican roads!

Sandy in TN

You are too funny Carlos!

Oh my Carlos...after reading your comment, I need a cigarette myself! (and I've never smoked).

Once you retire, I think you've got a future writing "bodice-rippers". Think about it.

Melissa, thanks for the recap and good luck on your trip.

Carlos, how long did it take you to think up that paragraph, you are a hoot!

The Eswat team does not bother me at all. It is not at all uncommon to see that sort of thing in Mexico and South America, especially now. But the strange part is why does the Dynamic Duo have Lil and Martina staying with Jacinto and Margarita and our galan traveling to strange places alone. Granted no one knows who or what Arty is but why tempt the gods?

The black crow on the tombstone was a flashback to FELS!

The Dynamic Duo is fun to watch. They probably have been playing off each other for a very long time. When my son sees his childhood friend they act exactly like that. It is fun to watch the end result.

Cheryl, I envy your trip. Everyone traveling makes me want to go somewhere.

rsk

Hey, at least Abora was smiling for a change so I didn't mind the sexy-times scenes too much. Maybe they'll even start acting like grownups now. But then again, overgrown junior high school students seem to be in the majority in this town.

Great recap, Melissa. Loved "Nandamobile"

Hee hee Carlos. Dude you are a scream. I almost snorted my morning tea up my nose.

Susanlynn, you are so right about Babs having that wicked stepmother thing going on. Ever since she massacred her soft-boiled egg I can't break an egg without recalling that scene. Personally I would like to perfect her egg-eating technique.

Now Nanda is holding two vital cards. Surely she realizes that she is the target of Eddy's adolescent ruse and she is aware that there is more than a casual relationship between Pris and Vlad. Now if she will only play them wisely. I get a kick out of Erika's giddy optimism. It's becoming like a flashback to my days at Pasadena High School with these romantic, childish intrigues.

Carlos

Thanks Lesa for the reminder about the swine flu shutting down production. The sad thing is that I read about that some weeks ago and even mentioned the article here... but TOTALLY forgot even though there are local cases of the flu being reported in the news every day. :-\

I could not believe my eyes when I saw this episode last night. What? Santi and Aurora getting it on before Fr/Ed and Ferd?! Maybe Fr/Ed needs to take some lessons from Santi.
Santi's Tips:
#1) Always be there for the woman you love, even if you think, or she says, she loves someone else, because...(drum roll please) you LOVE her.
#2) Have supersonic hearing so that you can hear her desperately yell your name as you speed away in your jeep; or even easier, respond to her when she personally hands you a note saying she needs you urgently and then calls you multiple times on your handy cell phone, because...you LOVE her!
Do you get it Fr/Ed?
-Vivi in DC

Dorado Dave: Ciggie did tell Babs that he wanted to get rid of Eduardo if he showed up to bury his mother. So yes, he sort of did threaten Ed before Ed faked his death... but Ed doesn't know, if that's what you were getting at.

Also, to answer your question about GL's plans for the powdered milk, I think they had taken on more orders than they could fill (i.e. couldn't afford the additional milk needed to fill them), because I remember some concern about what would happen if they didn't fill those orders. The powdered milk was supposed to solve that problem.

I don't remember how they dealt with the shortage when they buried the powdered milk, though. Maybe that's when Anyballs took Pris's money, so that they could afford to buy the rest of the needed milk. And you know, all he had to do was tell her. She would have been angry, but that would have been better than her wrath when she found out about it later!

As to what DO they make... I have no idea! But they have lots of clients. Maybe they do store brand/generic milk, ice cream, etc?

And we know they also have Fernanda's fancy cheese operation, but I think that's separate.

Yes Carlos, Nanda has several important pieces of information in her hands, Pris/Vlad/Dam, the EdFr/ Erroika stuff and she is becoming VERY aware of the machinations of her "wicked stepmother". Yes, Sylvia and Susanlynn, Babs is one of the best wicked stepmothers of all times! Nanda is thinking circles around all of the other characters.

Oh yes, thanks Melissa for the fabulous recap!

Sandy in TN

¡Mios Dios! When doesn't La Llorona cry. Suppose there could be anything more than an insipid smile in there somewhere?

Why is Jacinto waiting for Camilo in the stable & why again tomorrow? Looks like Camilo has found out he can't push Jacinto around anymore, so he kicks the can instead.
Gonzo's insurance should have replaced his car by now.

Tks for the recap Melissa & enjoy your trip. It sounds like your husband does some work in Mexico. I am interested in knowing what it is, if not too personal.

That Artemio is really a barrel of laughs.

Woohoo! I'm looking forward to recapping next week. Good luck in Mexico, Melissa!

I thought the crow at the cemetary was meant to represent someone who had already died. I was thinking Soledad, but her ashes are at the rectory... perhaps this was some other dead person that Ciggie has in common with Bosco and/or Ed.

What surprised me most about the security team is that they didn't know who lives at the house. Seriously, they weren't told about Gardenia??? Maybe Ed didn't have a photo handy, but I bet he could have described her in a few words. (I.e. buxom, yappy)

I too am really glad that Fernanda isn't a hand-wringing dope. It didn't take her long to figure out that Vlad's a lousy liar! (Not that it takes a genius, but Anyballs is still clueless.)

And I'm glad that Nanda's hand-flapping, squealing mannerisms from the first few weeks of episodes are now mostly gone.

I was surprised that Fr/Ed didn't realize that Err would go running to her best friend immediately with his plan. I thought he'd realize it later, when he was in the car rejecting Nanda's calls, but no.

I am glad that Aurora and Santi finally reached an... understanding, but I didn't really need for that scene to go on for so long. And the music didn't do much for me, either. I don't mind their relationship, but I don't think it needs so much screen time. I guess it's to make up for the fact that no one else on the show has been getting it on lately.

Fernanda doesn't show her hand to her enemies either. In FELS they always gave everything away to the person that was out to get them. Fernanda is suspicious & paying attention.

Thanks, Julie, for the reminder thatCiggy had threatened Eddy, albeit unknown by Eddy. I don't know what I'd do w/o the collective memory reminding me of my own memory's shortness.

Carlos, you are a hoot this morning, as always.

Nanda is a prototype for future heroine roles in TNs, I hope. Now we need a complimentary prototype for the galan...

WOW...I came in late to witness the post-coital tears from Sniffles & Curls (who now must be renamed Shameless Hussy & Horn Dog) and almost died. Fern & Fr/Ed are now the only virgins left...yeesh.

Carlos...dude, too funny.

Melissa...gracias!

Maggarita
:-)

Julie...maybe one reason the scene between Aurora and Santiago seemed sooooo long, (and Lordy, it sure did to me!) is because we just don't want to spend that much time watching Santiago make his moves. If it were Eduardo/Franco doing the deed I probably could have watched for much longer! And the Juan Miguel/Marichuy couplings on Cuidado never seemed too long either. With a hot galan and mucho chemistry, time flies.

Julie, buxom and yappy, you're right, succinct, unmistakable.

Carlos

Wow..We've had some great words flying around this morning..''buxom and Yappy'' [Wouldn't that be agreat name for...some kind of enterprise.]...and Crlos's ''prickly warmth''. My son-in-law just sent me an interesting site. Global Language Monitor , a websitr that uses a math formula to estimate how often English words are used . [He and my daughter both love math.] The site states that the millioneth word was added to the English language today at 5.22 a.m. ET . I had always heard that there are about 600,000 words in English. [That's the figure I've been quoting my students all these years.] Some linguists disagree with this site saying that it is impossible to count words. However, the articles says that it shows that English has become a complex , global language. Some languages [like French] have built big walls , whereas English brings other languages in [ex. Arabic has given us the ''al'' words, such as alcohol, algebra, alflafa...we got ''coffee'' ''pajamas'' form Turkish, and loads of words from French ].

Variopinta, LOL, I had forgotten about that... in FELS they would go to Gabi or Feo and announce their plans!! "I'm going to have to police come here at 9:00 sharp to arrest you, so make sure you're here and don't buy any green bananas!!" (Well, something like that...)

Also, I hate when the bad guys burst in with guns and then just stand there waiting for the victim to react. (You hear me, Carpio and Nestor? Oh right, no you can't hear me because you were taken to the alligator pit.)

Or when the bad guy gives his intended victim a full confession of all the bad things he's already done, and all the bad things he plans to do after killing the victim, who is just sitting there waiting to be rescued.

Barbara doesn't strike me as the long-winded type. I don't know about Artemio, though. The guy has a grudge, and I figure that at some point he's going to want to tell his victims why he's punishing them.

Julie~~~Those bad guys always remind me of the villains in the 007 movies who went on and on about what they planned to do to James...and give him plenty of time to turn the tables or slip away into the night/water/sauna.... By the way, if we're talking villains, few can hold a candle to Dona Barbara in the TN of the same name. She dealt with her revenge in a variety of creative ways 1]live burial 2] alligator 3]fire 4] horses pulling in 4 directions 5]pitchfork. Yikes. Now , there was a coldhearted mujer.

I just thought of 2 other adjectives to describe Gardenia....good and plenty....well, maybe she's not so good...she did hide Fern's letters from Fr/ed........nevermind.

Gardenia is a prettier version of Charo. All boobs & noise, no brains.

Maggarita

Thanks for a hilarious recap, Melissa, which had me laughing out loud.

Okay, I'm in the minority, but I loved the Santi-Aurora love scene. Sure, Santi's not such a galan, but that give us average guys hope! Aurora was beautiful, innocent, and I certainly like that kind of scene a lot more than Barbara and Damian's rough love.

It's probably nothing, but I think Artemio Bravo's office was on the 38th floor, and the address (of the cemetery) also had a 38 in it.

I agree that (I think) Fr/Ed's car is a Lincoln.

ITA with Vivi's love tips from Santi for Ed. Absolutamente!

Thanks for the recap Melissa. Have a safe trip to Mexico. Say hello to Artemio Bravo for us and take the Grupo Lactos Dairy Tour and tell us about it. :)

So, is Fr/Ed going to find the gravestone of Artemio Bravo in this cemetery? The new gravestone of Padre Bosco?

JeffMN

LOL! Jeff! I'll have to stop by the GL gift shop and pick up some cow-related items!

Carlos - You're crackin' me up!

Melissa,

What ever you do, don't have anything done to your hair while you are down there!

Sandy in TN

Hombre, I didn't HATE the Santi/Aurora scene either. It was kind of icky, but not all bad.

--Beth

Sandy, LOL! I won't. I've heard horror stories. But it can't be any worse than the hatchet job I got this past Saturday. I told the lady specifically, JUST A LITTLE TRIM - I WANT TO KEEP THE LENGTH. What does she do? Chops 2 inches off and add a bunch of layers!!!!

About Grupo Lacking, perhaps they do what the old dairy used to do around here. They would drive around to the different small dairy farmers [most farms around here are around 100 acres and the herds are not very large] and pick up the milk in tanker trucks. Then , after collecting all the milk, the big dairy would turn it into ice cream, yogurt, sour cream , and, of course, cream, half and half, and different types of milk.

Something quite unimportant:

Those who say Fr/Ed's car is a Lincoln are spot on. It's an MKZ. The keypad on the driver's door and the grill are confirmatory.

Melissa,

As long as your hair doesn't look like Errorika's,
Santi's, Denia's or Esteve's, you're probably ok!

Sandy in TN

Such imagery, Carlos....a dangling participle. And as always, loved your LOL recap, Melissa. Hope you run across a cow themed tablecloth as a tender momento since the Big Cups went up in smoke. GinCA

Melissa: Thanks for the recap. I enjoyed every word.

I was amused by Nanda following Vlad in her bright yellow unmistakeably hers SUV.

I'll also have to cast my vote for Mana singing Bendita la Luz. I love that song. Juan Luis Guerra from the DR has a great recording of it, too.

Cars: : : FrEd's 'American model' Lincoln may have been made in Mexico. I think all the major car companies have factories in Mexico. I know that Lincoln, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota and Nissan do.

Great recap, Melissa. I also loved ESWAT!

The Santi/Aurora coupling seemed about right to me. He was shown as careful, a bit clumsy, anxious to please. She, of course, dripping tears, but what else is new. I really like Bendita la Luz and was straining to hear if it was just Maná or a version I've seen on You Tube where Juan Luis Guerra joins the band and also sings some of the verses.

I'm not sure I agree with whoever thought Fer would believe she was the love interest Erika was talking about. A more likely telenovela development is that she believes it and tries to fight her jealous feelings off. The expected scene where she tries to find out who this is for Erika should be interesting!

Sendel was excellent in the scene with his mother. I was thinking as I watched that, although meant to show him as brutal, it was exactly how families work. We can put up a polite front with strangers and friends, but our parents and siblings are frequently subjected to "pure id" when we get angry or exasperated about something. We can occasionally really "let 'er rip" in angry conversations with family members, up to and including old childhood resentments.

Sandy- what's wrong with Denia's hair? And I wish that I still had hair like Santi...

D Dave,

I'm always trying to make my hair look straight and silky. What it forever looks like is a curly mess! I must say that curly "big" hair does look better on the younger set, maybe I'm jealous!

I know for a fact that there are a lot of American car manufacturing companies in Queretero, Aguas Calientes and a new one going up (Japanese I think) in in Celaya. There are probably many more...and yes, the Lincoln was most likely made in Mexico.

Fr/Ed already told Fernanda that he loved her & kissed her, but she was suspicious of his motives & she was married. Right after, she heard about he & Erika being novios. Now maybe she will reflect back on that event.

Former Presidente Vincente Fox was a big shot with Ford in Mexico.

My Volkswagen Beetle was made in Puebla, Mexico.

Melissa: Thanks for the great recap. Best wishes for a wonderful safe trip.

This novela will be remembered for the greatest couplings of all time: Vlad and Damian, Fr/Ed and Esteve and Jacinto and Camilo. Chemistry, excitment, anger and angst, who could ask for anything more?

Diana, brilliant! In fact Vlad and Damian are stealing this show.

Sandy, my hair is straight as a board and no matter how much I curled it it wouldn't hold. So I decided why make it do something that it's not meant to do. It sure saves time in the morning. I get up in the morning, brush it, put a clip in and out the door I go. It's usually still wet but I don't even dry it.

When Ed entered the lobby of Cigarman's office, parts of it were the same as the ground floor lobby of Tontas. I recognized it when you looked through the glass doors out onto the street. But the receptionist desk wasn't. That is actually not in the same building, just spliced in.

No strong opinion, pro nor con, of the Santi/Aurora love scene. But I really did like her invitation, when she ran her hands down his bare chest and his reaction was like, "Really? You mean it?"

In novelas, you almost never see good girls DO something to start the action (words, maybe, but never actions). So many times, I've wanted to see the sweet young thing open just one button of the galan's shirt, and watch his response.

Melissa, I also have a VW New Beetle made in Mexico! I work with a lot of guys from Mexico, and they tease me about this car, saying it will let me down in a crisis. Definitely self-deprecating humor on their part!

I respond that it's the best car I've ever owned!

Novelera - I love my car too! It was "Hecho en Mexico" just like my husband - that's what I tell him and he just rolls his eyes at me and says that I was born on the wrong side of the border! LOL

I thought that we established that Fernanda Drives a Toyota FJ1 Cruiser. And Franco drives a Lincoln MKZ. Did we all forget?

Anyway I tried to watch manana on youtube and I can't for the life of me figure whats wrong. Capitulo 81 part 1 and 2 is almost impossible to play. Something must be wrong. I rebooted the computer twice to no avail. Other videos on youtbe are fine and I have a fast internet connection and my Laptop has a lot of memory.

I know most just read the recaps here. I'm a very visual person and have to see it besides reading the recaps. My troubles are self inflicted though because I programmed my laptop to record manana on the wrong channel while i watched and recorded the NBA Finals on my tv. Am I the only one having a hard time watching MEPS#81?

I haven't tried watching in on YouTube lately. I tried to put in the number of the episode I missed one time and it gave me an episode in the future so I got spoilers. I'll try it tonight and see what happens.

I Tried a few hours ago and few minutes ago. Frustrating... :(

I clicked on 81.1 and it worked for me. Just a little fuzzy.

Ibarramedia, I just tried and had no problem. Make sure that it is a esnovelas recording. I have not had any problems with those. Also be sure to enter meps and not manana.

rsk

Ditto to RSK - I never have any problems with "esnovela" You Tube videos.

Ibarra- I just checked youtube- no tuve problema. I google "meps 81 1", and choose the youtube, sometimes another, but youtube seems to work better most of the time.

Ibarramedia -- I totally forgot that we had determined what car FrEd drives. I'm chalking it up to old age. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. (LOL) This telenovela is working my brain, which still has not recovered from its permanently comatose FELS state.

I just checked for you, and episode 81 is coming through fine on my youtube connection with esnovelas.

Thanks Melissa, love your recap. I agreed with most of what's been said but I have to add my vote to those who did not cherish the Santi-Aurora love scenes. It's like Julie said, they're getting too much screen time. The nerve of them getting to do the dirty before our heart throbs even really kiss. Now, my next statement will show that I'm o spring chicken. I dislike watching that "new way" of kissing. That orchestrated pulling of each others lips does nothing for me. It's more tolerable if I like the characters. For example, in FELS I liked the love scenes between Oscar and Jemina. They were the only couple acting like normal people... well some of the time. But Santi and Aurora is like when you get all relaxed and ready to watch a good show and they have way too long minor scenes before the main event.

Gonzo sorta looks like Eric Forrester on Bold & Beautiful.

Melissa, What a funny well done recap. Thanks. I laughed most at your digust with the curls and tears couple. It definitely did not replace an A-Team grope. What are they thinking, torturing us like this.

Looks like the next couple of weeks will be the summer staff, all champion recappers of course, but I am doing my last recap for two weeks later tonight. I wish you great good luck and the best trip to Mexico. I just love going there. Travel safe.

Yes that crow is definitely SAG member official. What a job! Sitting on a few choice tombstones, eating fruit, cawing at significant moments. If he can say Nevermore, I bet his owner will never have to work again. Make that Nunca Más for authenticity.

Melissa, a very funny recap, with a super title. I hope all goes well with your trip.
So many entertaining comments, that there's nothing to add at this point.
I was a little queasy during the "young and tender" love scene. I don't want Fernanda to start doubting Fr/Ed by Errorika steering her astray looking for someone else he might love.
La Paloma

Melissa, if you have time, gather some state quarters before you leave, especially ones that might be meaningful to Mexicans.

Last year when I went to DF and Puebla, I took about 15 quarters and gave them to people as régalitos. Situations where a tip would offend, but I still wanted to show my gratitude or recognize a connection. For example, the Aztec dancer I met at the pyramids. I gave him a CT quarter with the Charter Oak. At first he thought the coin was a tip and he refused, but I explained that it's a symbol from our history, and we got talking (in Spanish) of our common history - New World colonists resisting European domination. Of course, I couldn't give the dancer a quarter and ignore the guy who took our photo - a charro in his 70's, complete with boots, hat, and buckle. I gave him a WY quarter with the bronco rider, and explained that WY is a state with a lot of cowboys. His whole face lit up. Who knew you could get so much pleasure for twenty-five cents? Oh, and one more story. Carla, a college student I met in the art museum. She wants to be an actress or artist, so of course I gave her a NY quarter.

Alice, did you happen to see Destilando Amor? Some of the worst kissing I have ever seen, especially between Isadora and Frankie. I think they were supposed to be "hungry" kisses, but they reminded most of us of catfish and lampreys and such... *shudder*

I tried pLaying the meps 81 1 by esnovela and part 1 won't load correctly. Part 2,3,4 would only play halfway and then buffer forever. I mean forever. I even tested out other youtube clips that are not meps and they were fine. Maybe someone is blocking or something.... eh, Who knows?

I uded defender and McAffee to sdcan for viruses, trojans and the like. All turned out to be a-ok.
Maybe I will try tomorrow. Maybe the times I'm trying to look, everyone must be watching it. Lol.

BTW not a spoiler, but the gran final has already aired. Capitulo 169. And NO! I did not look.(It said so in the title) Just an FYI. I think the person who hosted it is Realplayer.
