MEPS 7/6: Damian gets a new assignment, Fr/Ed puts his hands in the fire.

Buenas noches a todos, I'm on tonight because I'm leaving Saturday for three weeks studying Yiddish in Paris (I know, I know) and Chris will take over for me, then he'll go on vacation and I'll take over for him, it all works out perfectly...
  • There's Damian's pixy smile as Anibal is forced to accept his return to the business.

Fer says she wouldn't be defending Damian if she weren't convinced of his innocence. Gonzo apologizes to Damian on behalf of the corporation.

Anibal makes a last protest: he likes Vladimir, who has replaced Damian. Damian sez, you don't have to fire him, and besides, over time you will learn that I'm honest. Anibal objects, Damian pretends to leave, Gonzo calls him back and they shake. Damian: "Oh, one thing - we need a month for our honeymoon."

Fer is not pleased about that. Anibal squeaks: "You just came back and already a vacation?" Damian's about to dig in for a fight when Fer announces, loudly, that she doesn't want to go on a honeymoon with him. She stomps out slamming the door. Damian follows. Gonzo is confused.

Anibal says that marriage is not their major problem, the business is - and he begs his father not to put Damian in charge of finances, "It would be insanity!"

  • When we last saw Fr/Ed he was at the end of his rope. "It doesn't matter that she was faithful so long - now, she's married... I can't face her!"

Esteve says Fer is an important ally to "Franco" so "Eduardo" is just going to have to suck it up.

Gardenia bounces in, all happy and cheery. "Last night I received these letters, Gardenia - did you leave them for me?" No, no, she says, in fact she swears on her word of honor and then, "Oh noes! I left milk on the stove" and she rushes out.

For some reason they believe her and suspicion next settles on - Fernanda! Esteve postulates that she figured out Fr/Ed's real identity and left the letters to punish him. But how did she get them? Bla, bla, bla.

  • Let's get Aurora out of the way. She is still sulking and won't tell Santi what's going on. He has found them a nice little place to live, just as she asked!

"But you said you'd stay for Fer!" "Fer won't mind, I can still help her without being under the same roof, and we won't be very far away. Let's go see it right now!"

Aurora says she can't - she has a date with Barbara to go shopping. Boy, is she a lousy liar. Barbara calls the witch and says Aurora's coming back in and must be pressured into telling everything - specifically, how she ended up with Rebeca Sanchez' handkerchief. The witch sounds willing to help out.

  • Artemio Bravo thinks Babs is getting over-confident and the reappearance of Lili could spoil everything. Babs is confident she has them all in her fist and she'll prevail.

  • Damian says he deserves an explanation. Fer yells that after he was gone so long without a word he has a nerve, pressuring her.

Gonzo comes in, Damian backs out, bowing subserviently, love his pink tie. Daddy asks, "Daughter o' mine, what's going on? Is it because of Lili? Well you don't have to worry, because Obregon has reappeared and, as 'we' expected, has demanded money, but the important thing is, Lili is ok."

Fer, knowing that in fact Lili is installed in a luxurious condo with Martina, chokes and doesn't know what to say. As her dad continues like the moron he is ("Barbara and I will take care of everything") Fer becomes more tongue-tied and finally runs out to her car and wishes it was Fr/Ed calling her, but it's Erica, so she doesn't answer.

  • Yanking his mind from the Fernanda miseries, Fr/Ed remembers: Father Bosco told him only Silvestre the blacksmith, Martina's pappy, can solve the mystery of Ana Gregoria, mother to Artemio Bravo. Time to make a visit to the forge.

  • Oh dear, your slack blog mom hasn't been paying the slightest attention to the subplot involving Vlad and these anonymous suits at Prisila's family's company and so I didn't catch what they were going on about when Vlad visited over there - hope somebody who's been paying more attention will fill us in...

  • Damian tells Barbara they have to talk. She yanks him into her office. He asks why he should keep cooperating with her, she points out that if she changes her mind and denounces him again, he'll go down. He sees he's trapped. Her plan: he must catch his virgin bride making the beast with two backs with Franco Santoro so as to destroy her.

Damian doesn't like hearing that his wife is in love with Franco, and he doesn't like this plan much either: "Well, Barby, you're just as putrid as they come!" "Yes, I am, and your knowing that will save us a lot of time! Anyway, I've put some money in your account, certainly not $3 mil, but a goodly sum."

  • Erica isn't pleased that Fer isn't answering the phone. Her mother comes in with DELICIOUS YOGURT IN TWO FLAVORS. "Oh, this yogurt is so delicious!"

They laugh that Fer is probably sleeping late after a night of love with her recently resurfaced husband. "Oh, I hope so," Erica chirps, "I want her to be perfectly happy, as I am with Franco." Her mother enumerates Franco's virtues. "Yes, ma, he's perfect, and - he loves me!"

  • Fer goes to her old stamping grounds, looks at the tree where Eduardo watched her communion, remembers her kisses with Franco and his saying he wanted to marry her. "It was just words, lies."

  • Martina and Fr/Ed visit Silvestre at his forge. She fusses, "Dad, you aren't supposed to be using your hammer!" "I'm old but not useless." They kiss, she leaves, he greets Fr/Ed and asks him for a little help. The actually helpful help Fr/Ed absent-mindedly provides is a giveaway...

"Don Silvestre, I'm investigating the history of a woman by the name of Ana Gregoria Bravo - Father Bosco said you'd know about her..."

Fr/Ed is half-heartedly pretending all these people are strangers to him but Silvestre points out: "In this village, there's only one person who could ever put his hand to my work, take metal from the fire - Eduardo Juarez! He was a good kid, and his mother, what a woman, I loved them a lot, a mountain." He teases Fr/Ed some more and then Fr/Ed confesses and they embrace. "I'm sorry about the lies." "Don't apologize, just tell me why you're hiding!"

They thrash through the various miseries, Fr/Ed sez: his mother dying and the sequestration of Lili and all, it's enough! It has to end!

We get this much of the story: Ana Gregoria worked at the hacienda until she was thrown out at the age of 15. The reason became evident: she was pregnant. She left town, she came back with dry, haunted eyes, and then there was a curse on the town, the cows didn't give milk and didn't give birth, then she left, and nobody knows what happened to her and her child.

"And who was the father of the child?" Fr/Ed naturally asks.

Sorry, you'll have to wait for some future episode to find the answer.
Tomorrow - Fr/Ed meets Fer out at the stamping grounds with Damian (no really, don't you love his pink tie?) following behind and hiding in the bushes. Should be fun.

Excellent recap, melinama! The suits in the restaurant were Vladimir and his friend (forget his name). This friend was the one who went to talk to the fairly simple minded guy in whose desk Priscilla planted the minutes of GrupoLactos board meetings. It strains credulity, of course, that Vladimir just happens to know a guy at Prolasa who jumps in there and helps the simpleton come up with the story about he and Flor having been novios. And that SHE came up with the idea to get money from Prolasa for the purloined GrupoLactos documents. Just at the end of this scene, said simpleton shows up and shakes hands with Vladi.

LOVED Fer yelling at Damn that he had a nerve asking how long he'd have to wait after she'd waited through his whole time hiding out in Vladi's apartment. I'm going to scream if Florecita doesn't soon get to tell Fer where Damn was hiding! AND, did you notice the jerk (who smiled benevolently at her when Fer was in the room) push Flor down. Grrrr!!

The beast with two backs? How very Shakespearean of you!

Thank you for the very clever recap and have a wonderful time in Paris, cherie.

Thanks, Melinama, for the recap which was so quickly posted it appeared before the episode aired on the West Coast. You cleared up the Barb/Damian conversation for me. So, he's back to being her lackey and it It took what?... about one day.

The scene with Errika and her Mom was so irritating. Again with the product placement but especially irritating was Errika's incredulous statement that not only is Franco perfect (that part is true) but that HE LOVES HER. Hellooo, Errika. I think Franco told you last night that he likes you but doesn't love you. Maybe that's enough for Errika or is she completely deluded ala Gardenia.

Bon Voyage, Melinama. GinCA

Hey novelera, thanks for filling in the missing scene from Prolasa. Although having read your explanation, it still doesn't make much sense, beanie time!!

I still don't get why it's going to make any difference where Damian was hiding, but I guess I'll find out when they have the great reveal.

We haven't seen Lili for the longest time, wonder if the actress had other commitments for a while...

I think Err's hopeful fantasies have melded with the decision she and Franco made to keep up the facade. Too bad for her.

Fer is suffering so much. I wish she could get a break.

Studying Yiddish in Paris? I want the back story on that. Anyway, it sounds marvelous.

I worked in Vienna for a year and when I got back to the States I was in the NY airport talking on the phone and next to me a man was speaking in Yiddish about financial matters and it was so like the Austrian accent I understood everything. Well, alright, I understood the words. I don't even understand financial talk in English.

Loved Barbara's glee when Damian called her rotten. She reveled in it! Hated the egregious product placement. " It has calcium! it will renew your energy! Oh mami, it's delicious!" Gag me with a spoon.

Thanks Melinama. We'll miss you but hope you have a marvelous time and will tell us all about it when you get back.

It makes me so nervous when Lili is left alone, so please tell me Venus is in the condo with her while Martina is visiting her dad.

Thanks, Melinama! We'll miss you.

Jane

Thanks, Melinama. Well, Gardenia is still lying and looking happy and hopeful, so I guess she still thinks that she has a chance to get Eduardo. I can't believe Fr'ed and Esteve believed her. [I started teaching a 6-week reading class yesterday and have a guy from Ecuador who reminds me a little of Esteve . He's a redhead.] What was up with Fer's ''office attire''...a lowcut, bright yellow prom/cocktail dress ????? Maybe it was dressup day at GL. Dam shoving Flor into the chair as he left was frustrating. He really likes that physical show...grinning, pinching, legswinging. He was pretty grabby with Barb when she was taunting him about Fer and Franco, and Barb seemed to love it. So...Barb's new plan is to let Franco seduce Fer, and Dam is supposed to faciltate this . Hmmm...that's an interesting twist. I'm glad that we have gotten a few more clues in the mystery that is Art....His mother was a 15 year old hacienda worker . So...was Gonzo's dad the impregnator ? Is Art's whole revenge scheme based on the fact that he was the illegitimate son while Gonz was the rightful heir ? That's kind of lame. The previews show Fr'ed and Fer meeting at the secluded family finca as Dam spies on them.

Thanks for the recap Melinama. Snarky as always. Yes, I did love the pink tie.

Fernanda yelling at Dam--loved it. She sure tells it like it is. I would have already divorced his sorry butt and wouldn't have to worry about it.

Dam pushing Flor--Not necessary but it made me dislike him even more. I think he'll back down if you stand up to him.

Erika--gag

Abora--zzzzzzzzz

Do you all think it is to farfetched for Dominga to be the mother of Artemio? It was just a thought that occurred to me last night. Not a spoiler.

Great recap as always Melinama. Loved the entire episode because it assured me that Nanda isn't going to get back with Damian. I don't know what annoys me most about Erika, her delusional love for Franco or her hysteria. I want to scream "calm down". As far as the product placement, that went right over my head. I thought it was a mere prompt. I may be wrong but I think a lot of viewers have lived in Mexico and become familiar with the products. I'm glad that I can't distinguish Mexican products from USA products. That's one less thing for me to get stressed out about. I also noticed that Nanda's dress seemed a bit too dressy for the office. Recalling the amount of discussion that brown dress caused I thought to myself, "here we go again" with dress discussion. Oh well, it's all in fun I guess.

I meant to comment that I doubt that Dominga is Artemio's mom since he threatened to kill her if she didn't find Aurora. Also, he wasn't upset at all about her being burned alive, just Aurora.
But then again, anything is possible when you're dealing with the likes of him

Merci, Melinama & au revoir! I don't know how to splice Yiddish into French (I mangle Italian & Spanish rather well, though) so enjoy your trip & thanks for the recap.

When did Esteve get the shag carpet on his chest? Weird...& I found myself strangely fixated on it. The boys looked like dopes when they believe DDenia's little white lie but then again, everyone seems to lie with abandon and no one ever questions their veracity [beanie adjustment].

Babs was licking her chops last night, salivating over her machinations with Abora, Damn, Nanda, etc. etc. Lucero does evil very well but gak! plaid pants? Sorry, even if you're a size 2, they make your a$$ look like the back end of an elephant. Wardrobe! Stat!!!!!

Susanlynn: yeah, what the heck is up with the sundress office attire? I know I live in uptight New England but really, that is totally inappropriate for work. I guess Nanda loves yellow...it goes with her REALLY BIG SPY CAR.

Methinks Vlad may be a weak link in the milk conspiracy chain. He's a wee bit unstable & I get the feeling he might sing like a canary if he thinks his beloved Pris is in jeopardy. (no spoiler...just one of my very bad guesses)

Will Nanda find the old guy at the bottom of the hill? Where's the little girl & her goat? WTF??????????

Will someone please send Dolly & Err on a very long vacation or get them a job at QVC? They are so annoying & add absolutely nothing to the story, unless you count product placements.

Maggarita
:-/
p.s. we had 3 days of sunshine & it's raining again so apologies for my b!tchiness.

Good point anon 8:31. I hadn't really thought it through. Do we know how Dominga fits in though? He just picked her out of thin air to raise Abora? There's got to be some kind of connection there. Beanie adjustment--too early to think that hard.

I'm surprised no one has commented on the yellow dress before now. I did like her shoes. Not a fan of the yellow dress except that it was more colorful than some of her other stuff.

Thanks, Melinama, for the great and super fast recap. Yiddish in Paris? I wonder what Yiddish sounds like with a French accent! Anyway, enjoy! (How could you not?)

Susanlynn, I think you may be right about the link between Artemio and Gonzo. And though it may seem lame, it's no lamer than most TN motivation. Anyway, I can't wait to see whether you're right.

I apologize for backtracking but wanted to say to Beth about her observations on The Dance. Beth I saw what you saw. I had been distracted by the physical. With Franco's angry suspicious peeks but both refusing to look directly at one another. Fernanda's left hand involuntarily carressing his shoulder but catching herself and stopping. And him slowly turning looking at the place she had caressed him.
When their eyes met and the movement stopped I think she saw him as kissing her. As the conversation moved and she said things the wrong way and him turning her words back on her it mirrored the marriage dance analogy Counselors refer to.
There were also the times he snatched her closer bouncing her against his body and speaking anger thru that closed teeth smile. And when she pounded his chest surprising herself and him too, he slowly looked at the place where she had touched him. But this time his look was different. Her look of apology, his stepping out of the dance formation. That was quite a dance.
But the cruelty I think was on her part. She smiled over her husband's shoulder seeming to curl into his neck while looking into Franco's hurt angry eyes.
I'm loving this Director and the actors that pulled that off.

Melinama, very good and very funny. Sometimes the simplest lines can strike me as the funniest.

"Gonzo is confused."

Simple. Eloquent. Funny.

Hurrah for Gardenia. Bold. Brazen. Simple. Just lie. She certainly has picked up the knack of lying. Well done pretty lady.

Hurrah for Nanda. Even before Babs officially clued him in, I think Nanda made herself rather clear to Damien,"You'll not be getting any of this."

It occurred to me after Syl's story about Anna and her curse, could our licensed bruja be Anna, now reduced to reading cards?

Carlos

Melinama, thank you for the great, succint recap. I didn't have time to watch until the last 10 minutes. Studying Yiddish in Parish, eh? Have a great trip.

"Where's the little girl & her goat? WTF??????????" . . . . . Ohhhhh,,, Too funny! BuaHahahahaaaa

Maggarita - you must be new to telenovelas. Slutty attire runs rampant in telenovelaland's corporate offices. If they ever have casual Fridays, I'm afraid they'd just show up in their underwear.

And then you have Flor who wears the same thing every day.

One time I came to work in some really nice Liz Claiborn black stirrup pants with a silk blouse and a cashmere jacket. One of my attorneys came up to me and said that if my outfit was green I'd look just like Peter Pan! Ha! :)

Doris: this is my 5th TN but you're right...I should be used to slighty slutty office attire by now. I guess it's the scars of too many years struggling for respect in a male dominated biz that makes me HATE office boob displays.

I do love the creative ways they clip the ID onto those outfits, though. There's not always a lot of material to work with!

Maggarita
;-)

Was I seeing things or did that yellow dress have cows on it???

And yes, doesn't the little girl live with the old man? Surely she'd have notifed someone he's been missing for a few days.

I think we'll be seeing plent of fireworks in the future from Erika when she finds out that Franco's true love is Fernanda. As for Aurora, she could turn into a witch herself and I wouldn't find her interesting.

Jackie

OT--They are already broadcasting the Michael Jackson Memorial.

Melinama, funny, quick recap, thank you. Enjoy Paris. I hope your studies allow plenty of free time.

Denia's lie- she didn't do it very convincingly, but the boys fell for it. Unlike her other apologist (Carlos), I'm not cheering her for it. We know that suspecting Fer of being the late postman is going to cause all kinds of convolutions and contortions in the plot.

Sendel amazes us again, smiling at Any?balls like he did, pushing Flor over with barely a touch. It's really a good thing for Dam that Babs' plan is for the seduction of Fer to be done by Franco, cause it would be an exercise in futility for Dam, and only frustration as a reward.

I loved Babs dancing around tormenting Dam- the evil coquette! I also wondered about the plaid pants, but the view from behind looked pretty good, regardless.

When Fer was thinking, juxtaposing the memory of Eddy with the striped-sweater-over-the-shoulders kissing scene with Franco, I thought for sure she was going to have an slap herslef on the forehead revelation that they were one and the same.

I was really enjoying the scene with Silvestre and Eddy when my girlfied called, so missed a lot of what was going on there, so especial thanks for filling that in.

It appears to me that Arty is the bastard son of Gonzo's papa. I think that Dominga was just a lucky girl that was asked to care for Babs' daughter, Aurora. What the tie between Babs and Arty is, escapes me.

And , yes, I did like th e pink tie...

Thank you Melinama. With fine actors and your recaps I think I'm finally understanding some Spanish.

Now is there any question about Damian's love for Fern? My only question is does she need to fear his temper could become physical. She seemed low key about him knocking things around on her desk.
And he had trouble accept her word that she didn't want to talk to him just then. I thought he said something about her owing him an explanation as to why she doesn't want to go on a honeymoon. He got nerve! Where with whom you been husband?!

Margarrita, yes plaid does emphasize the rear end but I think that the Latino culture finds huge rear ends rather sexy. Second only to huge headlights. Notice how often on TV shows they twirl around to the rear to show off their well endowed rear ends.
CLK

What is the age difference between Barbara and Gonzalo? How old is delusional Gardenia? Isn't she suppose to be two or three years younger than Franco? If so you mean to tell me during the fifthteen years Eduardo was absent she didn't meet any guys? What would she had done if Eduardo never came back? She's pathetic. At least Fernanda who Eduardo truly loves moved on with her life. It not only is not healthy to delude yourself like that for someone for long and who doesn't feel the same way about you. It shows you're not working with a full deck either. Where's Dr. O when we really need him. Margarita should have got her sister some professional help clearly there is something wrong with her.

Ok, Esteve has been pretty smart, now he takes the bait on Denia lie? Maybe the dead animal on his chest was confusing him. What the heck was that?

When they showed Barb, all I could think of what the Saturday Night song by the Bay City Rollers. Haven't been able to get it out of my head!

I hope Fr/Ed is smart enought to realize Fernanda has no clue who he is!

DDave, DDenia had two viable choices at this point as I see it. Deny, or brazenly cop to it and offer to take Eddie's letters to Nanda to put everything as close to right as possible. I don't think Eddie or Steve believe her for a minute. Eddie does not want to consider giving Nanda the letters that he wrote. He started a charade that for now he has to stick to. Gardenia is not stupid or delusional. I do honestly believe that she is going to try to help Eddie and Nanda get together in her own, perhaps misguided way. My fear is that with the things that she already has done that TN fate is going to make her prove the depth of her love foe Eddie by sacrificing herself to save him. It's happened before, as with the young man who loved Hipolita in Alborada. I think I have my shows straight. The same thing happened in Amor Real with whatshername's first love.

Carlos

Carlos, interesting idea, the witch being Anna still around. Hmmm

Yes, Martine in Alborada, so sad!

I doubt Erika wants to tell her mom she is engaged to a man that doesn't love her.

Damian hiding at Vlad's is important. Vlad works for GL & Fernanda must be wondering what he is up to. Damian had him get the job there to spy for him.

I think Dominga & Artemio are too close in age for her to be his mother. I suspect Gonzo's dad, fits in & gives some reason for the hate & destruction business. I wonder if Gonzo knows that Artemio exists?

At least we have a time frame on this, Damian said it's been a month & they haven't had the miel de luna.

Why would Fr/Ed & Esteve believe Gardenia, after all she had all of Soledad's stuff. She could have lied & said that the box was just found at Jacinto's.

I worry for Lili also, probably Babs or Damian will follow Fernanda to the condo, thinking it's Fr/Ed's & Fer's love nest.

And Fernanda has caught Babs in another big lie about Lili being with Dr O & he wanting money. More money for the Cayman Islands.

Anon OK let's talk about full decks if you wish. Nanda clung to her childhood fantasy up until just very recently. She frequently holds conversations with an apparition of herself. Eddie clung to his childhood fantasy and is still clinging even though she is married. He's withholding the precious letters that he wrote and mailed to her. The things he has done since coming home are certainly not evidences of good mental health. Gardenia recognizes the futility of her love but nothing she has done is evidence of an unsound mind. Gardenia has become a convenient scapegoat to minimize the stupidity of Eddie and Nanda. Gardenia certainly has not cornered the market on deception.

Carlos

I guess we have to suffer through another night of Aurora & Rosenda,
¡Santo Dios!. Santiago doesn't trust Babs, so why isn't he smart enough to follow them & put a stop to the insanity.

Maybe Lili is the most sane!

Thank you Melinama and have a good trip. Lots of interesting subplots in that last episode. I was also lost in that scene with Vlad and his friend (I thougt Damian was his only friend). Anyway, does anyone know why they are taking the rap for something they didn't do? How can it be to their advantage? Overall I love this novela but dislike the overall plot. There's way too many Aurora scenes and the way that her character is woven into the story, looks like she's going to be around until the bitter end. Carlos you crack me up when I read your glorifying remarks about your favorite character. It might have taken 29 years but you have mastered the technique of "tell em what they want to hear". Heck, I'd rob a bank if someone fed me the right line of crap:-)

Variopinta, I thought the key development last night was Nanda finding out about Barbara's extortion plan. Of course she really shouldn't be too surprised. She can already sink Babs with all that she knows.
I'm starting to enjoy Gonzo's bewildered looks. He is always a few pages behind.

Carlos

Connie, that is Flor's uniform. The lower level female employees wear that blue suit. I liked Fernanda's 'Sun dress'. nuff Said.

Ibarramedia

And DimWatt (Gonzo) told...mommie is going to be maed...she might make him milk extra strong tonight.

Bonney Churros...yowZa...I was hot flashing all over the place reading your recall of THE DANCE.

I've often said Susanlynn should write bodice rippers...now I think you should team up with her.

Gotta go now. You all can put on your beanies. I need some ice water!

Carlos, I agree about the dilema that she put herself in, the two nasty choices of copping to or denial. I had hoped that she would have come clean, that she would help Eddy link with Fernanda, and revel in their mutual happiness at the expense of her own. We know that now it's going to be more difficult for our amiga. You are probably right about a greater sacrifice for her down the road. Lastma, que lastima...I like your idea that bruja Rosenda is Art's mommy Anna.

I say Gonzo doesn't have a clue as to Arty's existance. That would require a minimal awareness beyond arm's length.

I like the idea that maybe Gonzo's daddy got two women pregnant. One of his class and one not, and Artemio is the not. The off spring could look the same. Heck I have cousins who look like my twin. Just depends on the DNA. Then Gonzo would have to freak'n clue! Which he doesn't anyway.

So, people change with their hair styles on these shows. Nanda is wearing more revealing clothes and has a nice curly bouncy do. Does this mean she and Franco might give in before they are legally wed?

Oh, Molly, I certainly hope so, I'm ready for some hot meaningful love.

Melinama,

Wonderful recap, I especially liked Dam's "pixie smile" and Anibal "squeaks" really, really funny. Hope you enjoy your Paris sojourn!

Bonney, great description on the dance. I think that most of that part of the scene was impromptu, not due to the actions of the director, it was just too good. We'll never know I guess.

Those were really odd plaid pants, pegged at the ankles along with Nanda's yellow Florida sundress at the office. The wardrobe people deserve a award for creating such a great number of strange costumes for the female characters in this TN. In some other TNs, like La Usupadora, the actors wore "normal" clothing in their various roles.

I thought Nanda was going to check on Lili as well, but I'm glad she and EdFr will be able to perhaps "talk" things out at their hidden hacienda.

Sandy in TN

Sandy- La Usupadora- that was my first TN. Colunga was at the age that he should be playing this part...

Ok Carlos did you not say yesterday that everyone has their own interpretatioin of the various characters or not. So if you don't agree with me about overflowing, delusional, and not working with a full deck Gardenia don't. This is my opinion of her. You should respect that. As Fernanda talking to an aparitiion of her own self is like we talk to our own self alone from time to time. At least that's how i interpreted. Fernanda did marry someone else so my point of view again she moved on. Yes Eduardo carried his torched for Fernanda for a long time and it seems he didn't move on with his life. He knew before they were torn apart as kids that Fernanda like and cared for him too. As for the lie of telling everyone he's Franco including Fernanda. His life maybe in jeopardy if he reveals he's Eduardo so ican accept that. I believe it would have been healthy for him to have found another woman not Erika before he came back to Mexico to reclaim Fernanda. Like I said it's my point of view you don't have to like it or accept it. Don't insult it. Like i said yesterday time will tell which way delusional Gardenia goes with her delusions. I liked Gardenia at first and her righteousness and spunk. I cannot accept how gleeful she was at the party when Damian came in with Fernanda on his arm. Same smile again eavesdropping on Franco and Steve conversation about the letters. I did enjoy the look of outrage when Franco announced his engagement to Erika. My opinion.

DDave,

I doing my research to buy or rent Alborada and Pasion, I saw him with Gabriela Spanic in LU on the advertising stills and he had the fattest, youngest face. Yes, he is a little old for this part. Older men are more accepted cast in younger parts than an older woman would be. Oh well!

Sandy in TN

Thanks for the recap, Melinama!

Someone asked why Vlad and his friends at Prolasa (the higher up guy, and the fall guy, Jaime) are taking the rap for something they didn't do. Actually, Vlad did do it (he and Damian had Pris drop off the papers on Jaime's desk). And by Jaime "admitting" to his affair with Flor, he looks repentent to the head of Prolasa ("Rolando"?, Pris's brother), and thus the only one who gets in trouble is Flor. This way, Flor does get fired, and Vlad can stay at Lactos and help Damian.

And of course, Flor was so tongue tied that she never got out what she saw, and now, maybe no one will believe her, after it's "proven" she was guilty.

Let's not count out Flor yet.At least she isn't crying and sniveling like Aurora would be. She doesn't act helpless either.

I try to stay out of the Gardenia polemic. I'm not used to reading so many male comments, but I do wonder if Gardenia would have as many diehard supporters if she looked like Flor. Just sayin'

Think of it like we are just trying to equalize things what with the rest of the ladies gushing over Eduardo/Franco's every single move.

Variopinta...it is time. Blech Cadmilho, blech Abora, blech Babs and Dam...I want to see to Fr/Ed and Nanda finally cave! I'm just hoping we didn't get Esteve's chest rug because he is next up! Ack!

Variopinta, you’re so right: “I worry for Lili also, probably Babs or Damian will follow Fernanda to the condo, thinking it's Fr/Ed's & Fer's love nest.” I think that’s exactly what’s going to happen.

“And Fernanda has caught Babs in another big lie about Lili being with Dr O & he wanting money. More money for the Cayman Islands.” I can’t imagine Fer sitting by and letting Barb make off with more money. She and FrEd need to resume their collaboration to figure this out. Together they have enough pieces to put it all together.

Dave and Carlos, I’m still a member of the DDenia club, and looks have nothing to do with it in my case—she’s not my type, Anonymous. She’s not as divisive others we know and love. And I like the little spark she adds to the story line. The eavesdropping and mettling servant is a typical novella device to complicate the plot a little more. Her love for Ed, big mouth, and perkiness server her well in this role.

Actually I'm sort of looking forward to Abora's time with the bruja. But they will probably do the same thing: delayed gratification. Viewerville is waiting for dumb Abora to spill the beans about Rebeca Sanchez being her madre, but she runs out panicky. Will they do it again?

Yellow is my favorite color and I wear a lot of it, so I liked Fer's dress. Maybe GL has the same problem we have in my small office: inefficient air conditioning. On hot days, the females in my office sometimes approach "slutty office wear" for survival reasons.

I don't think Fr/Ed and Esteve doubted Gardenia's lie. They are very frank with each other at all times, thus would have said so. They also immediately moved on to Fer as a possible suspect. Gardenia looked very charming telling her lie, but the closeup of the camera showed a bit of shifty eye movement. And maybe she had her fingers crossed behind her back.

Fernanda is very astute. If she finds out from Flor that Damn stayed with Vladi, she will start to put things together about Vladi's presence at GL. Which is exactly why Damn won't tell her.

I really enjoyed the blacksmith scene. Fr/Ed was unconsciously doing what he'd done as a boy, completely forgetting that Franco Santoro would not be able to bring the correct tools on cue or retrieve the red hot metal piece.

Awah.aah. LOL JudyB.

Ibarramedia, uniform!? Ack.... And it isn't even very flattering. Maybe if they fixed Flor's hair and gave her a different suit she would be pretty. And I think she could do better on the glasses. Remember Sarita and her ever changing glasses?

I hope Flor will get the words out before Anibal gets the handcuffs.

Flor isn't Sarita. And Sarita sure knows how to make them work along with the changing hairstyles. ;) Wink @ everyone who gets it.

So true Ibarramedia.

Melinama~~~Lucky you, going to Paris !!!! I've always dreamed of going there [love the films ''Fanny'' and ''Gigi''] , and my older daughter got engaged there last Valentine's Day. Muy romantic. Gee Whiz, Bonney~~~Did you take notes during The Dance , or did you tape it and watch it a couple times ? Your description was so detailed that I saw it again in my mind's eye . Then, I had to get a cold beverage. Is it hot in here ? I should have been taping this show. Carlos~~~You're right about people sacrificing themselves in the novelas for their unrequited loves. In Amor Real, Old What'shisname [Adolfo Solis ] sacrificed himself for Manuel because he knew that Who'sherface [Matilde] was a one-man women and Manuel was the man. In Alborada, two guys sacrificed themselves for Hippolita. I can't think of a novela where a female did the sacrificing for her unrequited love, but I haven't watched that many TNs. Will Fr'ed and Fer ever do the deed ? The family finca isn't a very safe trysting place now that Barb knows they go there.

I understand that people like to post anonymously but it would be helpful if you could put some kind of name at the bottom of your post. It doesn't have to be your real name, anything will do.

Bonney Churros...when you and Susanlynn do publish your first sizzling bodice-ripper, I want an autographed copy! And Susanlynn...glad you needed a cold drink also...she really nailed that scene, did our Bonney.

Actually i believe i'm the only female on here is not an Colunga fan. I have never watched his novelas. I may tune into one and see he's the star and move onto something else. This the first novela by Colunga that i Ha ve watched almost from the begining until now. I missed the first couple of episodes. I knew he was the star, one night after CCEA ended i didn't turn the channel and I saw part of the episode when Fernanda sprayed him with the mud. Then from there i started to watch little bit more of each episode a night. Then the story itself finally hooked me. Why i don't like Colunga he just doesn't do it for me. I will say he does have and hot body to you know paint, sculpture and take pictures of. Discreet pictures.

Ha, Judyb~~~I think Bonney's got me beat. Her description was so detailed . Maybe someone will set that scene to music on Youtube. What song should they use ? Hmmm.... Maybe ''Light My Fire.''

Yep, that would work, Susanlynn. Or "Too Hot to Handle".

Anon, I respect all opinions expressed here. It would be much less fun and interesting if we all agreed. If I've insulted you I'm extremely sorry. I actually adore Flor by the way. She does just need to spit it out next time she see's Nanda. Nanda needs to learn to listen. It's actually 39 yrs. that I've been telling my wife the things she likes to hear. Works for me. Again I'm deeply sorry to have insulted you.

Carlos

Anonymous : Tue Jul 07, 03:24:00 PM EDT, I'm not nuts over Colunga either. I liked him more in Pasion, though. And I agree with you that he does have a hot body. The shower scene earlier in the series did it for me.

Oops! Didn't mean to post twice.

Carlos~~~You are a wise man. ''Yes, Dear'' is always a safe response. I would prefer ''Yes, Mi Vida'', but hub does not speak Spanish. Que lastima. I really can't even imagine where the plot is heading and what Gardenia will do next. Does she still hope to have Eduardo for herself, or does she now realize that Fer is his onetruelove ? What really ticked her off and led to her delivering deletters to Eduardo's bed was the announcement of his engagement to Erika. Did she think that Ed would call off the engagement when he realized that Fer actually did write to him faithfully all those years? Did she think that with Erika out of the picture she would still have a chance to capture Ed's heart [and all the other parts of Ed] because Fer is married? Or...Is she really going to sacrifice her 15-year /24/7 dream of Ed now and help unite the two starcrossed lovers? Tune in and find out. Even the bad girls end up with husbands in these TNs...Perla and Marcos[despite the fact that she had Hippolita kidnapped] ...Antonia and Sixto[despite the fact that she seduced Manuel after he kicked Matild out]...so Gardenia could end up marrying Esteve as a consolation prize.

Carlos it's not a problem but let's agree as this story goes along how far will Gardenia go with her unrequited love for Franco. There is a personal reason why i am so turned off by Gardenia is by experiencing not once but twice in my lifetime two guys at different times. Not accepting that we cannot be more than friends. I was sweet and gentle about like Eduardo was with Gardenia, it would not penetrate that one track mindset of theirs. Needless to say one of them got straighten by an mutual friend of us both. The other I had to get an restraining order against. What's that Bonnie Raitt song "I can't make you love me." Well they couldn't. So the more Gardenia displays these same kind actions that i had to deal with in real life the more i dislike her. Those are my reasons. Maybe she will wise up and finally let her love for Eduardo go. Like i said we will see. Last night was what episodes 100. So we have a couple of months to go to how it is played out.

Susanlynn...Perla didn't deserve Marco, that one made me mad! But I do hope Denia gets someone. She's a whole lotta passion waiting to be let loose, and I'm sure many of the guys out here would like to have a seen for them, instead of all the FC eye candy (not that there is enough of that either)!

Molly, we have not had one bucket bath or really good shower scene. I feel gyped!

Connie, isn't there a pool at that freaking house? Why can't we get a nice moonlight swim? Boy some days I miss the Reyes brothers.

Yes, I bet there is a pool.

Ha...Yes, one thing you can say about the Reyes boys is that they valued cleanliness,togetherness,...and skinnydipping.

The thought that Fernanda leaving the letters is just plain ridiculous.
She arrived with Damian with a box under her arm????? She was watched all night by Babs, Fr/Ed or Damian. When would she be able to go to Fr/Ed/s bedroom with the box? Up until now, Esteve has had the most sense, but it sure slipped with that one. And what would she even be doing with letters that she wrote to Eduardo, she wrote them & kept them at home? She told Eduardo in the last one she would stop writing because she never heard from him. The writers need beanies with that one.

I don't know how they could NOT suspect Gardenia, she had Soledad's stuff & they are clearly not smitten like the men here.

Anon 3:24, I am curious who does do it for you. TG not every woman loves FC.

I think they suspected Nanda because she was one of the few people that left the room for a long time (her bathroom trip). If they thought about it, they would see that Denia left for even longer and had plenty of opportunity (espcially given that she originally had access to the letters as well).

Paris in the the summer? Woohoo!

I was looking at Esteve's chest hair too. I didn't mean to, but I was trying to make out the color. To see if it was red. I couldn't tell.

How long has he been combing his hair to the side instead of forward? It looks a lot more normal that way!

I was thinking that Dominga might have been Artemio's half-sister. (Maybe Soledad was, too.) He didn't shed a tear over Dominga's death, but then, he already seemed to have the idea that she wasn't a great caretaker at that point; he didn't trust her.

That day when Artemio showed up at the house, Aurora thought maybe he was a gangster that Dominga met at the cockfights. Maybe that's how he met her, if he's not her brother. Not sure that's the best way to pick out a caregiver for a child you care about, though.

Oh, maybe she's his half-sister AND she owed him money (if he is a bookie of some sort, which seems ikely) and that's why he picked her to look after Aurora - to work off her debt.

Regarding the old guy who got kicked down the hill, I thought the little girl was a granddaughter or something... maybe she just comes to visit, and her visiting day hasn't come up yet?

I think the view from behind was the motivation behind putting women in plaid pants to begin with... and probably also the reason plaid pants fell out of fashion. :)

Variopinta, they did immediately suspect Gardenia. Both of them agreed it was probably her. But when they called her in and asked her, they believed her denial.

novelera, When they asked Gardenia, she didn't even say, "letters, what letters"? And something is cooking on the stove for her escape? I know we know, buuuut!

Hi Variopinta this is anon at 3:24 well when i was a teenager my precious time was set aside for Eduardon Yanez. Let's call it Yanez time. Now sadly when i see my former telenovela novio just not turn on by him. Perhaps because he older and it looks like he sucking in his gut I don't. The mood has left me with Yanez. I get a little spark from jaime Camil the black curls and smile are cute. Sometimes i just wasn't in the mood for tontas. His co-star Valentino Lanus i thought was handsome then i saw that shag rug chest hair eck! Sebastian Rulli same way i think about Colunga apply it nto Rulli. I think Eduardo Capetillo is a little cutie. Yeah I know he short and he needs to do something about his chest hair to but with him I can overlook. When it's Capetillo time he has my attention. Then there is my new telenovela novio whose novela ended las night. William Levy those honey colored eyes of his and those lips my goodness. I just can't wait until his new novela Sortilegio starts over here. They said we get to see his behind in it. He's not too muscular and his body. I go to website everyday just to get my Levy fix. So thats who do it for me. Now there is new one on telemundo Jencarlos Canela at 8:00 Mas sabe el Diablo. So now that CCEA has finished I'm going to watch that.

I LOVE Eduardo Capetillo. His brief stint on FELS was pretty much the highlight of that telenovela for me.

Julie~~~What part did Eduardo C. play on FELS ??? I do not recognize the name.

Sorry that was me. I'm hurrying and forgot to sign my name.

My favorite scene last night was the little dance of the scorpions between Babs and Damian inher office. If she wasn't so deadly she would be cute, raking off Damian's glasses, cleaning them, putting them on. Playful and she really got Damian's goat. I vote yes on the plaid pants as well as the yellow smmer dress. Still lovin' this show. Susanlynn thanks for filling in the names from Alborada and Amor Real. Dang those were good shows. Carlos

Eduardo Capetillo, does look familiar, was he the cousin in FELS?

Yes, Ed Capetillo was long-lost cousin... uh... Pedro? I think that was his name. Good singer. Fuzzy guy - even fuzzier than unshaven Franco Reyes. I remember we (I?) had nicknamed Franco "Fuzzy" and then when cousin Pedro showed up, I had to nickname him Fuzzy II.

If you like Eduardo Capetillo, check out Peregrina. He played twins in that one.

Chest hair? I'm all for it...in men. It's the differences that make the opposite sex interesting, no?

As for the plaid pants, I think Lucero has the figure to carry them off. I'd look like a double-wide trailer, but she looks cute. Sure glad she doesn't live next door.

Melinama, thanks for that dynamic recap. The Paris trip sounds great, hope you have a good time.

Fer's yellow sundress was cute, but not suitable office attire. She could have faked it with a little jacket or bolero. Yes, the pink tie was good on Damian.

I took the high road and chose to be amused rather than annoyed at the yogurt product placement. So obvious and intrusive.

Sounds like Artemio's father could also be Gonzo's father. Dominga could be a friend of Ana's, maybe she babysat Artemio as a child.

On Sun. night, Cary Grant was on screen in "To Catch a Theif." He looked so suave and debonair, I was thinking "there's Franco Santoro!"
La Paloma

Babs has worn that plaid pants before. Either the first or second month....

Ibarramedia

Yes, Amor Real and Alborada never get old for me, I have both the short versions with English subtitles and the complete versions. They are great escapes when ''the world is too much with me.'' I, too, love the ''scorpion dance'' [great description]. Two wacky villains stirring each other up. I've been with real couples who do the same thing...mismo !!! La Paloma...yes, I can see it, FC as the Latin Cary Grant ...suave and guaypo. I liked Pedro in FELS....very huggable. The chest hair was a little much , but nobody is perfect.

Oh...one more thing..plaid pants .....Yikes. However, Lucero looked good in them.

JudyB Peregrina was one of my favorites novelas. I didn't get to see FELS but i have read the horror stories though.By the way Eduardo Capetillo in real life is the brother of Guillermo Capetillo who plays Anibal in MEPS. Eduardo when he was younger was a singer and he has had several albums already.

Variopinta, maybe Denia could have said: "Letters? We don't need no stinking letters."

One more hottie i alomost forgot Carlos Ponce his eyes and just hearing him talk real dreamy. Dame chocolate his last novela i liked that one too.

FC is my true love, but Cary Grant was in a class by himself. Hard to believe he was a poor English kid, not sure what their name is for ghetto. How did he develop all that class?

Judy, Anon, do either of you have any idea what happened to Perigrina's monkey. He was an important side story when nutty novio ran away with Perigrina. He (the monkey) almost perished from separation anxiety. Before it was over ...seemingly forgotten. A Rainbow Bridge moment that I missed? Except for the clowns(both good guys) I really enjoyed that TN. I think Cynthia Klitbow makes the best loca ever. In Velo de Novia she had her own theme, Mala Gente by Juanes. Carlos
