MEPS - Sept. 30, 2009 - Santi attacks Barbie; Lucio sets up meeting for Barbie and Damian; Don AB orders the murder of Fr/Ed

EPISODE #156 (Mexico #163 & 164):
* Barb nervously whips her phone and bluetooth headset from her purse. She makes a phone call. Franco answers as he stands in front of AB's desk - AB is still trying to catch his breath and regain his Darth Vader voice. Barb needs to meet with Franco ASAP in her office. Franco says he can be there in half hour. She agrees. They hang up. AB notes that Franco will be leaving to meet with Barbie. He tells Franco that now since Lily is back with her family, Franco needs to live up to his part in the deal and tell him where Eduardo Juarez is. Franco says he's dead. AB is stunned and furious, thinks Franco is playing him for a fool. Franco says no, Eduardo is dead! He died so Franco Santoro could be born! He died to give himself a new identity in order to fight against AB's evil plan! AB is so furious he's about to explode.

* Fer talks with Steve about Franco. She then asks Lovely why Lily called her Venus.

* Franco scolds AB about all his evil plotting against him and his mother, Soledad's last request and his forced separation from his mother and everything else they suffered because of AB. Franco then yells his shocking discovery that his own worse nightmare of an enemy is none other than Don Artemio Bravo himself. AB is stunned silent.

* Steve explains to Fer the plot to have Venus play Lovely Norton his niece in order to set up Camilo. Fer listens intently. She asks about the wedding. Steve explains that there was never any intention for Venus/Lovely to actually marry Camilo. Fer questions the details and reasons for the plotting against her brother. Venus and Steve explain their parts as well as Franco's. Fer hears that Franco was a part of this plotting and changes the subject quickly to mention that she has no intention of dropping her charges against her brother.

* Gonzo gets a phone call from the authorities about Camilo being transferred to the penitentiary. Gonzo is stunned and upset.

* When Eduardo/Franco finishes with his revelations, Artemio spouts that right now he needs Franco Santoro more than Eduardo Juarez in order to find and get back his daughter and grandchild.

* Fer continues to talk with Steve and Venus. Fer uses her cell phone to make plans to visit Lily. As Steve attempts to bring Franco into the conversation, Fer continually changes the subject. When notes Steve's frustration, she apologizes.

* Franco calls Steve on route back to Las Animas from his visit with AB. He asks to speak with Fer. Fer gets on the phone. Franco tells her that Aurora has disappeared.

* Lucio and Jacomo bring food and water into the holding room for Aurora. Lucio makes a wise crack and cackles. Aurora suspects and questions if Damian is behind this. The men back away and leave without answering.

* In her office, Barbie begs Franco to help her get Aurora back. Franco has no intention of doing anything for her. She tells him after 15 years of living with the Elizaldes, her plans all went up in smoke. Franco thinks about it and agrees as long as she agrees to two conditions - one has to do with Aurora, the other is that she has to remain at the Elizalde hacienda as his own personal spy. She accepts. He sits at the desk and asks her to reveal who she suspects kidnapped Aurora. She spouts Fer.

* Fer visits Lily in her room at Las Animas. Lily sits in her chair as Fer goes to the door and tells her that she has a surprise. She opens the door and Santi enters. He cries and hugs his big sister. Lili cries and hugs her brother.

* Barbie tells Franco why she suspects Fer (Fer's meetings with Aurora, for one thing). Franco tells her that Fer had nothing to do with the kidnapping. He asks her if she suspects anyone else. Barbie nervously thinks and reveals that Damian may have something to do with it - but she thinks that would be impossible because he's in jail for terrorism.

* Fer calls Daddy Gonzo to tell him the great news - Lily is back with the family. He's overjoyed.

* Gonzo is so happy that he interrupts Franco and Barbie's meeting in her office to tell them about Fer's phone call about Lily. Franco congratulates him. Barbie fakes enthusiasm. As Gonzo leaves, he mentions that he's also happy that Santi is back home again as well. Alone, Barbie spews venom to hear that Santi isn't out of the country as she thought (and was promised). Franco is silent. She grumbles that now she's totally at the mercy of Franco Santoro.

* Fer stuns Santi with the news that Barbie and AB are Aurora's parents. Santi goes ballistic and wants to storm the castle and corner Barbie. Fer tries her best to hold the raging wildebeest (Santi). She tells him that Aurora has disappeared.

* Barbie cries to Franco her agreement to continue to play the loving wife of Gonzalo Elizalde. Franco says that's good. that's good. He leaves. She breaks down and bawls like a baby.

* Fer calms Santi down and convinces him to wait and talk with Franco. He agrees. Fer will be taking Lily to live with Margie and Jacinto. Santi asks why? She claims that Lily will be calm and more comfortable there for awhile.

* Barbie mumbles about getting Aurora back herself.

* Margie and Jacinto welcome Lily to their humble home. Lily recognizes Margie. Margie is overjoyed. Fer asks if Lily can stay with them for awhile. Martina agrees to stay there and help care for Lily. Margie and Jacinto happily agree to have Lily stay with them.

* Franco and Santi argue in Franco's office -- Santi is fumigating and wants to attack Barbie and whomever is responsible for kidnapping Aurora now! Franco yells why they need to have patience and wait for Barbie's enemy number one to appear first before taking any action.

* Barbie meets with Gonzo in her office. He confronts her over standing him up for dinner last night - he suspects she has a lover. She gets a phone call. He encourages and pushes her to answer it - it may be from you lover, he grunts. Barbie answers. It's Jacomo calling with a message about Aurora. She goes to her desk and writes down the message. She promises to be punctual and hangs up. Gonzo questions when she'll be meeting with her lover boy. She claims that was her doctor; she has an appointment with him - he suspects she may have cancer. Gonzo is ever so quiet.

* Jacomo and Lucio discuss the plan for Lucio to meet/confront Barbie.

* Franco talks with Santi and Fer in his office about Barbie and AB not being behind Aurora's kidnapping. They wonder who else could've done it? Santi wants to find Aurora and needs answers. Fer tries to explain. She then mentions her suspicions about her ex-husband, Damian. Franco pipes up and says that is impossible, because Damian is now in prison, charged with terrorism.

* Jacomo meets with cousin Damian in prison, and tells him that Lucio is meeting with Hyena right now and will call him with report soon.

* At the bar, Lucio makes small talk with Barb. He cackles. She's serious and nervous. He notices. She asks about Aurora. Lucio wants to know what's her connection? Barb says none of your business. Lucio mentions his boss. Barbie wants his name. Lucio doesn't tell her, only that he will be contacting him soon. She tells him to call his boss right now. Lucio makes the phone call.

* Franco continues to talk with Santi. Fer asks Santi to leave - she wants to speak with Franco alone. Santi leaves. Fer asks Franco about his plan, now that Lily is back with the family. Franco explains that he will stay there to make sure Aurora is back with Santi and complete his promise to his buddy 'the lone ranger.' Fer is like, yeah, yeah, I know about the promise. She provokes and prods for Franco to tell her the truth. All he does is get frustrated, slide up to Fer and hold her arms tight and declare his unending love for her. Fer back away with a huff. He tells her that he loves her with all his heart and soul. She tells him she feels nothing for him but gratitude. He's surprised. She wonders if his attitude and love is all a lie.

* Barbie wants to know about the call. Lucio asks her for some paper. She hands it to him. He scribbles down where his boss is and gives the paper to her. She notices that it's the prison, and asks for his boss's name. He says, "Damian Gallardo."

* Fer is still upset with Franco about Barbie and the injustice towards her and her family. Franco agrees and tells her that when everyone is happily reunited, he hopes she can forgive him. She asks, for what? He says for leaving without revealing his secrets to her. He then swears he will live up to his promises.

* Lucio finishes setting up the meeting with Damian. He hangs up the phone and tells Barbie to meet Damian tomorrow. He cackles and leaves as Barbie grumbles at him.

* Franco and Fer are talking as Venus enters and interrupts. It seems Santi the wildebeest was impatient and left. Fer and Franco leave to go after him.

* Lily, Jacinto, Margie and Martina play 'Candyland' (or is this 'Chutes and Ladders'). Lily wins the game, and they all toast her success.

* At the hacienda office, Santi the wildebeest storms in and pounces and pins Barbie the Hyena to the desk. He yells and demands that Barbie tells him where Aurora is! Barbie uses her arms and knees to push Santi off her. He lunges after her again. They fight. Franco and Fer barge in and pull the two animals apart. Fer pushes Santi out the door and to the stairs. Franco says in the office with Barbie. On the stairs, Santi expresses his desperation to his sister. In the office, Franco and Barbie trade arguments. He leaves. She grumbles that she doesn't need his assistance to get her daughter back.

* Fer tells Santi that tomorrow she will visit Damian and then they can make sure Barbie is punished for all her crimes.

* Gonzo comes downstairs and sees Barbie leave the office. He asks her about her doctor's appointment. Just then he spots Fer and Santi. He gives his son a welcome home greeting. Santi walks away. Gonzo then asks about Lily. Fer answers. He is so excited. Barbie fakes her enthusiasm over the news. Gonzo mentions that now he only has Camilo to come home and complete his promise with Aurora and her baby. With this, Santi snaps and shouts that the baby is HIS, not Camilo's! Gonzo is in shock and turns to Barbie to explain why she told him it was Camilo's. Barbie stutters. Fer tells her dad that she will never to dropping her charges against Camilo.

* At the church office, Franco tells Padre Bosco that Aurora is AB's and Barbie's daughter. Padre is shocked.

* (Through the magic of television, we are quickly transported to the police station.) Barbie is at the police station adding to the list of charges against Camilo - she is charging him with raping her daughter Aurora, and she uses her real name, "Rebecca Sanchez".

* Padre Bosco warns Eduardo again about how dangerous AB is. Franco/Eduardo knows this; he also knows that since he's revealed his real identity to DA, he is almost positive that AB has issued the order to kill him.

* At this moment, AB is giving his favorite associate the order to murder Eduardo Juarez Cruz.

Just so everyone knows, there will be two Cristina shows for Manana es para siempre -- Tuesday, October 6, and Monday, October 12.

Jody, thanks for the excellent recap and for summarizing some details I missed.
After years of evil deeds from Barbi, it was rewarding to see her frustrated to the point of tears.
I thought Artemio might be willing to put aside his vengeance on Eduardo (at the beginning), but by the end we see that isn't so. We're almost sure that our hero can't be killed (aren't we?), but Artemio seems determined to destroy Eduardo.
So, if the worst happens, will Fer forgive a dead Fr/Ed for the red bed? Or will she hang her head for what she never said? (Sorry, I know it's only doggerel and a low form of literary exercise at that.)
La Paloma

Thanks for the recap Jody and letting us know about the 2 Christina shows. This last week is something and its all building up to Monday!

ITA La Paloma that I too that Bravo might not kill Ed immediately but clearly that was our mistake. Of course, this just means Bravo will die at the end of this novela. I'm sure that part of Fer's forgiving Ed will be her realization that Bravo and Barbie were going to kill Ed (though it doesn't explain why the whole town knew who he was and the woman he knew, in the biblical sense, didn't).

The actor who plays Lucio is good b/c I'm pulling for Barb to kill one last time and he's her victim.

Hi Jody, thanks so much for this and all your fantastic recaps. I know you'll be taking a break from recapping and it will be our loss. I trust we'll see you as a commenter and I know we all look forward to you recapping again when you have the inclination and the time.

Yes, Santi is a wildebeest. Good call.

Gracias amiga!

Oh, Jody! Thanks so much for the recap. I swear I could see it happening...which is a good thing since my pesky DVR decided to thwart me by not recording tonight! I don't know what's wrong with it. Maybe it's gotten sick of the show already?

Good work Jody and thanks. Luscious Lucio still tries to get fresh with Babs, but she would have none of it. Ha. Despite the control of the situation now in Lucio's favor she does not budge.

Santiago has had enough and can't take it anymore that he has become a loose cannon. Wildebeast is a perfect example. I even thought for a while that he and Franco would get into a fist fight.

Funny thing is with all the commotion and yelling at the toip of their lungs, no ne seems to notice. Not the servants, not Gonzo who sneakily made an appearance later and acted as if nothing was wrong. Clueless as ever.

This sure gets interesting. No one trusts each other. You have Franco/Eduardo with Fernanda and allies on one side, Babs on another, Artemio Bravo and his mob on the other side and then we have Damian and the other 2 stooges.

The winner gets the prize. Aurora is up for bids. That Babs is a one woman wrecking crew that all the other factions with their teams can't handle.

Funny thing about this week's telenovela's episodes and board games. Yesterday over at Amor, Romina was playing Chinese checkers with Diana. And tonight Liliana was playing with Jacinto, Margarita and Martina like one big happy family. Martina is a tall girl which makes even more appealing. She must be at least 5'9' or 5'10" looking at how she towered over Liliana and Margarita. Same with Venus/Lovely.

If Artemio liquidates Franco soon the he will never see Aurora. We shall see.

Ibarramedia

I guess this finally has to pit to rest some people doubts on whether Aurora was raped or not. The finale should only be two hours on Monday? It was two hours when it finish in Mexico in May. Remember when these novelas get near the end they reduced them to an half hour and introducing the new novela that will replace it. I have an question for everyone following MEPS why do you prefer Univision novelas instead of Telemundo. I have notice it has been mention how the lead heroine is more independent and takes no B.S. ala Fernanda on Telemundo novelas than on Univision which usually gives us Macarena, Paloma types of heroines. What's the appeal too lazy tto change the channel? Your favorite male lead, or female lead starring in the novela? I also would like these writers to be a little more creative with their writing. How many times are they going to keep remaking the same old novelas. Yeah the name changes and the actors do too, be creative. If you can't try taking some plots from Korean dramas some of those are quite creative.

What is the equivalent to an latin emmy well my vote is for Sylvia Navarro.

Hey Jody, great rip-roarin' reccap...lots of action which you captured perfectly. Add me to the list of credulous folks who thought maybe Artemio would give Franco a pass since he saved him from being throttled to death by Barbara. Oh well.

Jarocha, regarding your comment last night about having trouble with commas and run-on sentences: if those are your worst challenges, then you are in excellent company. I edit for people who write professionally, and those are two of the most common problems that I see.

The commas are especially difficult, because style manuals for different kinds of professional and academic writing disagree on the rules for commas in certain situations.

Jody! Gracias, de verdad! Y Buenas Dias a Todos!

Ayyy, Caramba! Let's see. A whole lotta shakin' goin' on, ain't it, y'all. One of Franco's conditions to Barby was that when Aurora was found, Barb would let her Aurora decide whether or not to go with Mommy Dearest.

"Barbie fakes enthusiasm. As Gonzo leaves, he mentions that he's also happy that Santi is back." Gawd, I luuved how Babs dropped that fake smile as the Diva of Doom refrain played! We've all had moments in life when it seems like somebody shoulda cued somekinda damned music in the background! Fun-ny!

You know what, I can see Babs wanting to get the hell out of Dodge. That cancer story Gonzo slurped down like all the other swill she feeds him, it's like, playing him is toooooo easy. She needs some new challenges in life!

Y Lucio, with sh*t for brains. He thought he had Barbie over a barrel and he could see himself behind her. . .BIG DUMMY!!!!

"She tells him she feels nothing for him but gratitude. He's surprised." Eddie, Eddie, Eddie, Lord Have Mercy, Baby. This woman ain't shown you she can be trusted? After all you went through with her, after all the examples of trechery and lechery and vice, you can't recognize honor when you see it? Like all have said here, you REALLY know Fernanda now and she's given you all kinda chances to come clean. Umph, umph, umph. We are shocked.

"they all toast her success." Jesus Lopez! I thought Lilli was going to have a regressive freak-out when Margie brought that milk for the toast. I thought "here's the re-kidnapping plot, they're all in with AB, DON'T DRINK IT LILLI11!! Phew, false alarm.

Y Anon at 2:14. Did you ever think about that some people can't get Telemundo on their Televisions?

Finally, LaPaloma, love yo' little rhyme!

Khalilah

Jody - great recap! Thank you. My favorite scene was Santi the Wildebeest, going ballistic on Babs.

Lucio hasn't lost any of his charm, eh? The guy makes my skin crawl.

I loved FrEd's perfect punishment for Babs: Live with Bonzo, el cara de tonto, as you have done for the past 15 years. She looked like she was going to barf.

Nice job, Jody! Wildebeest...perfecto. I can't possibly keep up with the dialogue & I'd be lost without the fantabulous team of stalwart recappers. I'd give you all TNREs* if I could!

Poor Nanda. She's up to neck in liars. Santi & Lili are the only ones she can really trust at this point.

Lili: free at last! Yikes.

Lewdio just oozes slime. He's not quite as repulsive as Cad (who definitely wins the award for A$$hat of the Year) but if he touched me, I'd want to bathe in Lysol afterwards.

And the award for Evil Nemesis goes to: both AB & Babs. Lie, cheat, kill, manipulate, drug, torture, maim...yup, they've done it all.

Time warp: Jacinto's miraculous recovery, Steve's vanished bruises & full head of hair after skull surgery, Abora's no-bump belly...wtf?? What should take months to heal, heals in an instant while a months long pregnancy doesn't show up at all??

Maggarita
8(:-P

*TNREs = Tele Novella Recapper Emmies (now THAT would be a rip roaring, side splitting show! maybe we could be TBLMOE to host...oh yeah, baby! I'm there!)

Jody..I too liked the Wildebeest, that is one of the best descriptions yet.

What a big fat mess...I know some my new and great Caray, Caray friends are getting something out of this program, but I'm just coasting until the end...

Combining a lot of posts on why "we" watch the novelas, some said they liked the culture and settings along with the language. It is said that Sortilegio is set in Merida, a truly beautiful city that, in its heyday was one of the wealthiest in the WORLD because of hemp, a plant used to make much of the roping for all ships and EVERYTHING else before plastic came into use.. My husband and I spent a wonderful few days there. If Sortilegio is filmed in Merida, it might be a great way to view the architecture and environs of a delightful colonial Mexican city. Merida is the city that I recommended to Lynne for her Thanksgiving trip. What little I have seen of the two leads isn't encouraging, but because of the locale, I for one, am giving Sortilegio a shot..

Neighbor Doris, your comments have been smoking lately!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Sandy in TN

Thanks for the recap Jody. Lucio makes my skin crawl too. Ack!

I sure wouldn't want Santi mad at me. He's a pretty strong guy. That was great though when he had Babs pinned down on the desk--too funny!

Ok, ok, I really do watch these shows because of the leads. I admit it. Eduardo Yanez is just so awesome! With FC coming in a really close second! 8(:-)

You definitely had to love how quickly Babs swats away Lucio's hand at every advance he makes.

He's not gettting any for sure. Hahaha. I love it. And you ladies must agree that crazy smirk he had on his face was downright creepy.

Franco reaserts his full power now more than ever. Unbelivable how he was making all these demands and she accepts. We have never seen Babs in such a vulnerable position before. She was actually helpless.

Connie Santiago is not as strogn as you think. or he would have easily overpowered the Babster. He still struggled to pijn her on the table and she quickly used her cat like reflexes to put up her knees in a coiled position. and later they struggled as he tried to dominate her. She valiantly fought back. Again Franco saves the day. Lots of action last night.

Ibarramedia

Good point Ibarramedia. He looks strong anyway. I think she is pretty strong too.

Didn't she have some training or something? At least maybe that was implied at the beginning.

Jody, thanks for the excellent recap. Very well done. There sure seems like a lot to get done in just 3 nights even with the extra time on Mon. I thought for sure that Eddie was going to fess up last night, but more missed opportunity. The scene reuniting Margarita and Lil was very touching. Maybe we'll get to see our old Lil before this wraps up.

Carlos

Jody, thanks for another great recap and for the info about the two Cristina shows.

Maggarita, I loved your suggestion about TNREs hosted by TBLMOE. Count me in! The only problem is that I'd want all the recappers to win.

And yes, the time warps in this TN are really impressive. If anyone needs surgery, head for telenovelaland. You'll be back on your feet in no time.

Thanks for the great recap Jody. Ditto with everyone about Lucio. He even seems slimier and nastier than before. He's approaching Camilo territory. With Barb last night, I thought he might not survive the night. Right now, I picture him in a room going to take advantage of Aurora and Mama Bear shows up and that's all she wrote for Lucio.

JeffMN

Thanks so much for the recent recaps--without them, I would not have understood many of the rapid conversations. I just plain enjoyed the love scene (though I did wonder about the bed/red sheets/hot tub) and did not try to analyze anything.
Now that Lili is at Jacinto's and Margarita's house, could she possibly be the one to find Fernanda's letters to Eduardo? Didn't Margarita take Soledad's belongings to her own house? Or did Gardenia find both boxes of letters? I foret.
Ibarramedia, I remember your mentioning that Anibal resembled the ancestor in the photo. We had a small TV at the time, so it was hard to see that on the screen.
I watch novelas for the story--I stopped watching FELS fairly soon after it had begun. Plot seemed not that good to me, and I'm not a big fan of Adela Noriega (I think she's not a good actress).

LR

LR, I don't like her either. I'm not sure why really.

I was afraid Lucio was going to take advantage of Aurora. She probably would have swooned. He's just as slimy as Cammmiiii in my book. He doesn't smile, he leers.

LR... I believe Eduardo has all of the letters now. I seem to remember Denia giving those to him.. or sneaking them into his room one day.

Lili may be getting better. After playing the game, they celebrated by drinking the milk. I thought Lili may flash back to a couple of days before when Barb made her drink the drugged milk. I thought for sure she might go bonkers and throw the milk.. but, nope. She just might be getting better. :)

JeffMN

Connie, My impression of Adela N's acting is that she spends way too much time with an index finger under her chin, gazing into the distance. I've seen her in 3-4 novelas, and she's just not my favorite.

LR

Thanks, Jody. I still don't get why Artemio Bravo considers Ed to be his worst enemy. Soledad actually helped Ana Gregoria. Is it just because Ed now knows the secret?

Have you noticed that whenever Fer talks to Franco she says, FRANCO. You'd think he knows that she knows.

I figured Lili would balk at yet another glass of milk, though, for obvious reasons. Apparently not.

I interpreted the milk scene as product placement, although I could not read the brand on the carton. Native Mexicans would know it, though.

Gardenia did indeed leave the letters at Franco's bed the night of the first Las Animas party. He ended up reading all night.

The next morning, Franco and Steve suspected Gardenia and asked her. Despite the denial by denia, they still thought it was her with winks in their eyes.

Ibarramedia

Khalilah i don't know what type of tv you have or if you have cable at all. My suggestion is on your remote or on the tv itself press menu. Scroll down to channels select that it will ask you to do an channel search, hit select or yes. The tv will scan through all of the channels you have on tv. You can do this even if you don't have cable. Sometimes you may have to do mit several times. You then should have some channels you didn't think you had on your tv. It works even if you have basic cable or with the cable box to get premium channels and like i said even if you don't have cable.

Anon at 11:30, I have cable and fully know how it functions. There are these companies, you know, like Comcast, that sometimes do not offer certain channels even if you have the dinero and want them. A few months ago they did add them to our lineup so I'm able to get it. Prior to that, not having a choice as many people don't, it has nothing to do with laziness or having television-selection-functioning impairment. That's all I'm saying.

Khalilah

Thanks for another complete and well organized recap, Jody. I thank you for all your recaps of MEPS and I want you to know how much your time and effort means to me as a Spanish-impaired telenovela lover.

With Artemio's rage at Fr/Ed, I was surprised to see Fr/Ed's car drive away from the mansion. Loved the strong, forceful Fr/Ed when he told Artemio who he was and how he had suffered. Still can't figure out what AB ever had against the kid Eduardo that warrants that kind of hate. Maybe this will be clarified in days to come?? Or maybe I'll never get it.

Jody, terrific recap, as always, and so valuable to the not so fluent in Spanish viewer.

So, regarding the letters that Soledad kept hidden away in the shoe box: Eddie has both sets, then. He read the ones sent by Fer and has the ones he wrote to Fer, as well. So, I guess, Fer may never see the letters to know that Eddie did try to write to her all those years. Unless of course, Eddie finally gives them to her. Since this novela is so long, I may be completely wrong. Did DDenia sneak the letters to Fer somehow?

Yes, Lucio definitely leers from ear to earpidup. I agree, he's toast if Barbie thinks Abora is harmed.

GinCA

Thanks, Jody, for an excellent recap.

I don't think Artemio Bravo told his henchman to kill Eduardo immediately, just to kept him under tight observation, and the moment AB gives the word, kill him.

Gonzo is such a fool. NOW he thinks Barbara has an amante, after all the times she really did, and he was clueless. Then, of course, she thinks quickly as usual, and completely blows him away with the cancer story (cancer of the uterus - la matriz, in spanish). Later, she told him the tests were negative.

Fernanda wasn't too happy about Steve and Venus's set up of Camilo (and with good reason, it was a dumb plan from the beginning, they really never knew what they were going to do, although it did work out okay).

Although Barbara agreed to Franco's two conditions, later she said to herself, forget it, she doesn't need his help. And even if she had agreed to stay with Gonzo, if Ed's leaving the country, what's to prevent her from leaving next month? BTW, she's was telling herself that after all this time she has nothing, just wants Aurora, but didn't she forget that 1) she has her dossier and her freedom, and 2) she still has millions of dollars in her off shore account?

Can't wait to see what happens tonight. With only 3 nights left, when will Fr/Ed come clean to Fer?

Ditto Khalilah's comment to Anon 2:14. Our Time-Warner package gives us Univision period. I'm sure on the coast there are more choices but here in the heartland we're lucky to get even one.

I'd love to have Telefutura so I could watch Betty la Fea, but alas. So I'm happy at least for Univision and the Televisa shows. I've learned a lot of Spanish and had a lot of fun with what was offered.

Thanks, Jeff...I remember Gardenia's leaving the letters on Franco's bed (and his reading them all night), but I guess I forgot that it was both sets of letters. (I do clearly recall the 2 shoe boxes with "Eduardo" on one and "Fernanda" on the other.)
Pasofino, Yes, I chuckle whenever Fernanda says FRANCO, and he never notices.

LR

Thanks, Jody, for this recap and all your excellent recaps. I'll miss your recaps. Lucio is creepy but not as creepy as Cad to me. I don't think Lucio will survive THE WRATH OF BARB. Geez, watching her smack Art in the head and then choke him was terrifying....and fascinating . Lucero can really bring the crazy. So...Fr'ed has both boxes of love letters. What about the letter Soledad wrote and hid under the floorboards in lili's room at the asylum ? Didn't Lili take the box containing that letter to Ciro's room just before he blew himself out the window ? Then, Ciro's wife and son had the box and Art's birth certificate, but did they also have Soledad's letter ? [At least, we know how Soledad got the birth certificate, She picked iy up after Don Gerry spurned Ana and told her to ''Largate.'' ] I am confused about why Art hates Ed and where this whole hot mess is headed, and I have the suspicion that all these loose ends are not going to be neatly tied up. Also, I like Adela Noriego. I loved her as Matilde opposite FC in Amor Real , and I've been watching her with Eduardo Yanez in ''Guadalupe '' on youtube. [They were both very young in that one.] Judyb~~I agree about the problem of commas and runon sentences and fragments. My students have lots of trouble with writing complete sentences and punctuating properly. It doesn't help when their reading textbooks make the same mistakes that they do. [Where are the editors ?] One big problem today is that public schools do more process writing than grammar. Nobody wants to teach kids grammar anymore.

Hi Susanlynn...I think it was Julie (who works professionally as an editor) who was commenting about commas and run-on sentences. Alas, I'm one of the "bad guys"...(notice all the ...) Afraid I just go with the flow unless it's a formal paper. Then I dutifully follow the grammar rules.

Jarocha~~~Just read your last post on yesterday's recap. I can give the simple explanation on commas that I give my students if you want it. I've tried to distill the whole hot mess into something easy.

Jeff, I think you’re on to something guessing that Lucio might try to “take advantage of Aurora and Mama Bear shows up and that's all she wrote for Lucio.”

It gets my imagination going… Barb offs Jacobo to get to Aurora, finds Lucio tying to do Aurora and offs him. Then Fr/Ed walks in and offs Barb. AB walks in and tries to off Fr/Ed, but Santi walks in and offs AB. How many people can we get into that little shack? Again like a chess game, when the peices start to fall.

Also, the game that Marg, Jacinto, Lili, and Martini were playing, drove home again what a GAME this whole plot has been. Lili won! And of course, we know the white king and queen will remain on the board.

Question : Does the galan in a telenovela EVER kill the villain..or anyone ? Doesn't someone else or outrageous fortune usually kill the bad guys so that the hero's hands remain unstained ? [...unlike American tv shows and movies in which the heroes often kill the villains.]

Susanlynn,

Fr/Ed burned the letter from his mother (can't remember what he did with the Artemio Bravo birth certificate) a while back, just after the break-in at Las Animas.

How many more chances can Fer give Fr/Ed to come clean? She is just getting more ticked off every time she speaks to him, learns about another deception, or is pulled into another convoluted plan. She's too much of a straight shooter for all this. And obviously Santi is the same way, as made clear by his uncontrolled rage towards Barbi.

I really don't think Aurora will be too happy if Eudardo/Franco kills Babs while trying to save Aurora from Lucio. She's been searching for her mother for ages and found her then made up. and now she is saving her. Just not plausible for me. No need for a beanie. It just does not make any sense at all.

What I envision based on your scenario would be Babs Encountering Jacobo and Lucio trying to sexually assault Aurora. Babs tries to stop them and maybe shots are fired. A scuffle ensues. Franco and Fernanda Join in the fray. Amidst the fighting and Franco,Fernanda and Babs subdued Jacobo and Lucio and Babs is untying Aurora when Artemio Bravo burst in with his men. This sets the stage for a final showdown in the finale.

The finale will of course have Steve,Venus,Martina, Jacinto and Santiago Battle it out. While all hell is breaking loose, Pricilla and Anibal of all people come in with the cops with Gonzalo in tow coming in very late. The first Arrest Damian who had escaped from prison but was found lurking outside and missing all the action.

Artemio, his goons, Lucio and Jacobo are Arrested. Either Artemio or Lucio escape and there is a gunfight between him and the cops. Artemio Bravo and his goons are caught in the crossfire, Lucio is gunned down by the cops and after the action days later explanations are in order and everyone gets their stories straight Babs thanks Eduardo/Franco(who by this time revels himself to everyone that he is Eduardo Cruz Juarez)And asks Santiago to take care of Aurora and the baby.Babs then turns herself in to the authorities but not before she and Aurora embrace in a tight hug.

A few more days later Eduardo and Fernanda marry. Fin.

Artemio said he hates Eduardo because he "defied" him. I suppose he means that Eduardo was never supposed to return to Mexico. But Eduardo wouldn't have known that it was Artemio Bravo that wanted him gone forever, as Eduardo didn't even know of Artemio's existence until AFTER he returned from Gringolandia. Artemio's hatreds are soul deep, but they've been aimed at the wrong people. I presume Geronomio and his wife had died before Artemio was old enough or strong enough to exact his vengeance on them so he turned his wrath on anyone he could think of.

I deleted an insulting comment at the request of some readers. Watch it. Be excellent to each other.

Heeey, wouldn't it be like totally unprecedented if the Leading Lady said, "ah to hell will the lot of ya, Gardenia, you can have the lying so-and-so" and just booked, her and Lilli!? Then DD could have Fr/Ed and Nanda could have piece of mind?. . .enh it'll never happen. How IS Eddie gonna talk his hiney outta this?

Khalilah

Khalilah: maybe the 3 hour grand finale will be nothing but Fr/Ed, gazing longingly into the camer, 'splaining away to Nanda/viewerville.
[sigh]
Maggarita
:-}

I'm not mad about that Maggarita! He can explain all he wants to as long as he is only wearing a towel from being in the shower.

Hombre de Misterio – you raise very good questions. Apparently your telenovela beanie hat fell off your head. We advise you to put it back on. Soon. (VBgrin)

As for myself, I'm envisioning my brain as that pear half in red jello. . . OMG!!! while looking for the original quote (which is now gone) I see that I've been quoted on the home page ...twice!
(Ack)
http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/
May I request the pear-half-in-jello quote be put back on? Can't remember who wrote it (during FELS) but it's classic. And oh, sooo appropriate.

Seems like the Powhere Meeelk deal is on the back burner, eh?

Ayyy! Dios Mio (or Mia!?) Maggarita that is a lovely image. As Paula said yesterday, as purty as the love scene was, they did not give us any foreplay. Y like sooo many others, maybe there's some big surprise in the finale that explains why AB hates Eddie. It makes no frickin sense whatsoever! If this is a remake of someother story, maybe the writers just screwed up in the reinterpretation. Maybe the original story was set in a time when having a baby outside the blanket was more shocking and scandalous, I don't know. . .don't know why it bothers me.

Oh well, if Eddie can get back in Nandas good graces and luv her up before it's over, let all the goodies be rewarded and the baddies go to hell I guess that's what it's all about. Got some damned good Spanish lessons outta this one, that's for sure.

Let's see if I have this right: "Fernanda, I love you more than anything else in the world, more than life itself. Oh, yeah, I'm leaving town tomorrow and you'll never see me again. Why? Don't ask me that." Honestly how stupid do these writers think we are?

BTW, as I look back over the change in "moods" over the novela, I seem to recall Fernanda being denied knowing about Franco's real identity because:

1) After mom's death, he hated ALL of the Elizalde's.
2) Then, she started pestering him with phone calls when she thought she was talking to him in New York. He then started thinking that she would interfere with his plans with all of her pestering - he needed to follow the trail by himself.
3) Then, at least by the time he found that Damian was a henchman with Babs (when Gardenia found them in the car making out) - he started to believe that he needed to hide his identity to protect her.
4) Then, finally, and on top of all the other reasons, after his staged death, he was convinced she would never love him again and would go ballistic to find out he had deceived her with killing himself off.

That's what I remember - at least a bit more plausible than the "I love you, I'm leaving town" story here at the end.

Connie~~~There's a new youtube entry of Ed and Christian practicing swordfighting. Ed seems to have done iy before. It's from ''Hoy'' with a familiar host.

After many years of watching telenovelas I have come to the conclusion that the arena in which one most needs a well fitting beanie is in regard to the Mexican justice system.
Now, it is true that I have no actual knowledge of how the legal system works in Mexico. Maybe it is in fact accurate that it only requires one swearing out a complaint against someone else for someone to be thrown in jail.
There are never any trials for anybody. There rarely seems to be a need for an investigation. I suppose we're just supposed to assume all that happens in the background.
Isn't it odd that Estif, the one Camilo beat up, didn't even know that Camilo is in prison. Fernanda had to tell him. I guess there was no need for the police to talk to the person actually involved.

Great recap. First let me say that I am amazed at how good of a liar Barbie is. The cancer story was priceless. Although Barbie being smart is a result of Gonzo being clueless. I am glad Santi said something about his paternity.

I had the feeling Art wasn't going to let Fr/Ed off the hook after learning the truth. I don't think he will succeed though but we'll see.

Lucio was acting more like a hyena than "La hiena". Seriously his cackling was a little scary. I wonder if Barbie is going to get rid of him.

Ya nailed it, Silverfox! His not revealing himself to Fernanda now makes as much sense as AB's hatred. Maybe these are based loosely on older novelas then they just make the rest of the sh*t up as they go along! Let's see, how do you make a Beanie girl?

8(:-) hmmmm doesn't look right

That's it. I figured that out yesterday. It should be our logo on a t-shirt or something.

Thanks Susanlynn, I'll check it out.

Hi Everybody; I just wanted to thank all of the recappers of this telenovela for your excellent work. I don't post often; but I do read on a daily basis. Thanks so much for all of your help in improving my Spanish comprehension. You are such a godsend. Linda K

Cristina, I seem to recall (take this with a grain of salt...I forgot that Gardenia had both sets of letters LOL) that in one novela, at least, I saw a trial. I think it may have been Edith Gonzalez in Salome (my first telenovela).

LR

There was a (long, tedious, rehashing of stuff we already knew) trial in Cuidado con el Angel. It was wretched; they should have left out most of it. And then even though Blanca was totally guilty (but insane), she didn't go to either prison or the mental institution...she was released into the care of her shrink the magical Dr. Juan Miguel (who was the husband of the woman she murdered), who miraculously cured her multiple personality disorder just by suggesting that she embrace her slutty side. Yeah, the legal system in Novelaland is a little different.

Julia - re: CCEA - and wasn't Juan Miguel a shrink at the beginning, who couldn't even recognize his own wife's craziness, and a surgeon at the end?

Yeah, he became the World's Greatest Eye Surgeon in just a few short months.

La Hiena isn't acting out of love or concern for Aurora. Her compulsive behavior is from a need to control and claim what's been taken from her. Barbara's background makes it very difficult for her to be 'normal' and yet at some point as an adult she's well aware her actions are wrong. She accountable for her decisions to continue them or start to change her ways. Barbara and Artemio are equally evil, sick novela people who have harmed many other novela people...

Jody thank you so much for the recap. I haven't watched the episodes yet but it seems like we are still going on fast pace.

Susalynn and Julia thank you so much for your offers of help. I'm gonna have to take your word. I'd mean alot to me if you could send any info about grammar that you feel would be useful to: vegaoth@yahoo.com

I think english uses periods alot. Sometimes I'm reading something and I'm surprised by how many periods are in just one paragraph. When I'm writing something in english I tend to try to be careful with periods and many times I wonder if I should be putting a comma instead, then I put the comma and it looks like a very long sentence.

Variopinta the link you provided is very helpful. I like how they have arranged the explanations it makes them seem very simple. Thank you very much :).
