Sortilegio #17, Wednesday Oct 28, 2009: Just Another Hot Steamy Wednesday!
MJ, Ale, Paula and Papa are talking. Ale wants MJ to go with him on a little trip. MJ balks but Papa says its her duty.
Maura takes Uli over to Ale. Ale introduces his wife MJ.
Rachel, Roberto, Uli and Maura are in a den of thieves, I mean a den of orange polka dotted couches, striped pillows, and a brown shag rug, talking about their favorite couple. The guys, Uli and Roberto go out to have a smoke and it sure looks like something is up between those two.
Chucho is being questioned.
Ale and MJ are at the accident sight trying to figure things out. Ale goes over the events as he remembers them and MJ comforting him. Suddenly, Ale, with Savage Jealousy, wonders ( and he really should know the answer to this) if MJ would have accepted Bruno if he had died? (Well, at least until she found out she was with a Brrruto.) MJ gets angry that Ale keeps torturing her by bring Bruno up, that he has no confidence in her, and she starts running up the hill. Ale, scrambles after and and apologizes, saying he just has doubts, doubts that makes him ask stupid
questions. Ale and MJ make up.
Ale and MJ go to find Chuco in the jail, and Chuco asks that Ale tell them that he did not steal the watch. The jailer tells Ale and MJ, they have to talk to the commander. I don't know why Ale has MJ leave.
MJ goes to the church and prays. Ale asks what she prayed for and MJ says peace.
At last, the day is over and their enter a room with candles burning, and MJ says it is a nice room, but she didn't want to sleep in the same bed that she is tired and just wants to sleep. Ale says fine he will sleep on the sofa. MJ opens her suitcase and Ale takes his bedding to the sofa. MJ is very tired but, not so tired that she doesn't take pause, along with viewerville, to appreciate Ale removing his shirt.
Ale pretends to be asleep already as MJ checks as she walks by. After she is in the bathroom Ale opens his eyes shakes his head, smiles as he rolls over to try and sleep.
We watch Ale toss and turn and try to cover his feet before he finally crawls in to bed with the sleeping MJ. He makes sure to share his blanket and kisses her cheek, as he cuddles with her to sleep.
Next day, Ale wakes up to find MJ in the shower, where MJ tries to explain that when she prayed she said she would not sleep with Ale until they are married. As Ale caresses MJ's shadow, on the shower door, he explains that their marriage is valid, and just like that he is in the shower, and Ale and MJ do what comes sooo naturally, and we in viewerville, get lost and have to take a moment to breathe.
Ale tells the Commander that Chencho and Chucho helped him to live. Chucho gets out. Ale gives him money and his card and tells him to go to his house and have EZ give him some work.
Ale asks Chucho about the woman in the car with him and Chucho directs him to a hospital.
Maura a Rachel are wearing wraps on their way to the jacuzzi. Now, the wraps are off but they are still talking about their favorite couple, Ale and MJ.
Fernando has come by to check on Victoria. When Felipa tells Victoria that Fernando is here, she hops out of bed and starts primping.
Erick and Bruno are talking, but this beginner Spanish student cannot make out any words over the music.
Victoria sees Fernando. Fernando tells Victoria that the Ale is in love with MJ and Victoria says that this is a problem.
At the hospital Ale and MJ find Lupe, who has been fighting infections, Lupe has a son. Ale says he will pay for medicines and school for him, Lupe say no one cares for the Indians or something like that.
Ale tells MJ they have something important to do.
Victoria and Fernando are on the porch talking about everyone's favorite people, MJ and Ale. Rachel walks up to eavesdrop. Victoria is going on how Ale said he never married MJ.
Ale and MJ are at an apartment building with Ale knocking on the door. He ask MJ if she is nervous. A woman comes out of the building and Ale asks if she can identify Bruno? (a picture on his cell phone) . The woman says they can check it out. As they walk the stairs, MJ asks if Ale is jealous and Ale says he is not jealous he is just questioning. I don't know if this is an apartment Bruno had? They check it out and leave.
Felipa interrupts Rachel's eavesdropping, and Rachel is ready to denounce the whole bunch of them. Fernando and Victoria try to tell her he is married, but it is Bruno who comes and gets her.
Ale and MJ are at another place. I am confused to where they are at. This isn't the town MJ is from right? I thought it was the place closest to where the accident was? Why would MJ know of this apartment? Any way they talk to someone else who has a document signed by someone who is, of course, long gone.
Fernando tells Victoria that Ale and MJ's marriage is legal. Victoria asks what Fernando thinks.
Fernando says MJ and her family could be lying. Yeah with a best friend like that...
Felipe tries to tell Victoria that she should be sure before Victoria accuses but Victoria doesn't want to hear. Victoria tells herself all the lies she needs to stay in denial about Bruno.

Thank you Melinama and Kat. I only got caught up today.
Great comments had me laughing.
When they went to the office it was for the marriage certificate and Alex asked for the judge who presided over the marriage. He was told again the judge is still on vacation. Bruno probably paid him off. Raquel over heard the conversation between dumb and dumber and believes she can use that as ammunition to MJ thrown out of the house. Once Bruno came into hear what she was beatching about now he told her to cool it.Raquel also was told by Bruno that Alex might decide to throw her and jobless husband out in the street. Raquel in her jealousy of MJ's relationship with her step brother Alex went back and told Maura< Roberto and Sleazy (Ulises).
Bruno went to Pedro's chalet looking for MJ and Paula couldn't contain herself about rubbing it into Bruno's face that MJ left with Alex and they don't know when they are coming back. Bruno being worried was discussing with Pimp Daddy E where they could have gone.
Were Useless and Bobo reminiscing about a gay orgy? Did Useless tell Bobo about liking boys and girls and Bobo was like, "yeah, I know?" Were they reminiscing about a time they had?
It doesn't matter if MJ is Alex's real wife or not, it's Alex's house and if he wants Familia Samaniego there, there's not much Raquel can do about it.
Shut up Fer-No No. Shut up Victoria.
I wonder what the Albeniz crew will do now when Chucho and Chencho show up? LOL
I was amazed at your description of the living room. I never noticed it. It was so outlandish I can't believe how unobservant I am.
Ann-NYC
Later, Maura tells Raquel that she is sure all she has to do is sleep with Alex again to get her plan to get him back in motion. Considering even “I'm getting a divorce” Alex doesn't seem to be interested in her despite her making it abundantly clear she's available, it seems like Maura's seriously overrating herself.
That whole scene at the accident site with Alex's accusations are indeed all about jealousy at this point. How many times has MJ told Alex she'll sign anything he wants saying she will make no claim on his money, that she doesn't want it? And yet here he is, asking if she would have stayed with Bruno and shared Alex's money with him. Alex is not doing himself any favors with this.
At the police station, the cop on duty told Alex he can't release Chucho without his commander's say-so because there are procedures that have to be followed. Also, Alex has to make a statement. Alex agreed to do that, so he asked MJ to wait in the SUV while he did it. He said he wouldn't be long (LOL at the chick who hit on Alex as soon as MJ left!), but that request and their argument earlier --when MJ told Alex she wanted him out of her life because she was fed up with his distrust of her-- was why he got so worried when he came out of the station and found the SUV empty: He thought she'd run away from him.
Pedro thinks MJ is in love with Alex, and Paula not only agrees but thinks that Alex also has feelings for MJ. Bruno comes banging on the door, demanding to know where MJ is. Paula enjoys telling him that MJ is away on yet another trip with Alex. No, she doesn't know where, but even if she did, she wouldn't tell Bruno. Oh, and Alex said she could have Bruno's chauffeur Eric take her into town tomorrow to register for classes. Bruno stomps off, and Paula comments to herself that he's stupid, but Pedro is worried -- he doesn't think Bruno is the sort of guy they should deliberately provoke. And ok, it's pretty clear he's not the brains of the family, but that doesn't mean Pedro doesn't have a point. On the other hand, it's fun watching Paula keep smacking Bruno down, especially since he seems unable to shut her up.
It's nice that Alex was worried about MJ's hands (though he wouldn't have to be if he hadn't tried to crush them!) while in turn, MJ was worried about his possible injuries from the brawl with Bruno (Alex says they're nothing -- he used to play American football and is used to being banged up).
Alex tells MJ their marriage is valid now because a month has passed and neither of them denounced it. MJ wants to know why he never said anything sooner. Alex tells her that at first it got away from him, and then later he didn't want to. But what I want to know is, did he get into the shower with his trousers on? Because if not, when did he take them off? First he was too busy petting the shower door and then he was in the shower. Did his pants take themselves off?
I don't care about Bruno so I tend to tune him out unless I think he's going to get put in his place. Since Eric's not likely to do that, I didn't pay much attention to their scene. I think it can mostly be summed up as Bruno can't stand Alex, he is determined not to let Alex "win," and he is going to get rid of Alex.
The woman who came out of the apartment building does remember seeing MJ, but doesn't recognize Bruno. She says her niece used to clean Bruno's apartment, so of course Alex wants to talk to this niece, but it seems that the niece's husband got a job somewhere else took the niece away with him -- the woman doesn't know where. None of the other people in the building recognize Bruno either, which is a stretch but perhaps not entirely unbelievable since it seems Bruno was only there one day a week. Alex also isn't pleased to hear that MJ used to visit the apartment enough that someone who wasn't working for Bruno recognized her, and even seems to have had a key. MJ plays it down, saying it was just to get things ready for “Alex” when he made his weekly visit. Alex insists this isn't more of his jealousy.
Bruno isn't at all happy to find Raquel now knows about Alex not having married MJ. Raquel shoots down his first attempt to shut her down (he tells Raquel not to cause a scene or Alex will kick her and her freeloading husband out) because she is all about hating MJ and plenty ready to make a big scene. Then Bruno tries assuring Raquel that Alex is going to get a divorce, but makes the mistake of appealing to Fernando to back him up, which earns him a nasty glare before Fernando stalks off. Bruno points out to Raquel that of course Fernando's not going to confirm something like that because Fernando is Alex's best friend and he knows Alex wouldn't want that kind of stuff being talked about. This shuts Raquel up for now, but if the previews for tomorrow are anything to go by, nothing short of being dead will shut Raquel up for long.
Of course, as soon as Vic hears about this from her puppy love ("Bruno intervened with Raquel to calm her down?"), she decides it's proof that Bruno can't be as bad as Alex is saying, and says maybe it would be best if Alex and MJ do get divorced. Felipa thinks everyone ought to let Alex make his own decisions, but Vic ignores this. Fernando points out that even if Alex's marriage was a trick, at this point it is legal since Alex and MJ are still living together and neither contested the marriage within the month time limit. Grasping at straws, Vic points out that Alex and MJ sleep in separate bedrooms, but even his crush on Vic can't keep Fernando from pointing out that that doesn't change anything. Vic has to settle for whining that she won't stand for MJ "abusing" poor Bruno. Felipa points out that MJ's accusations could well be true, but of course Vic doesn't want to hear that. She asks Fernando what he thinks, and now he finally realizes he's in a bind, because even in the unlikely event Bruno had nothing whatsoever to do with the attempt on Alex, Fernando still knows Bruno is a worthless rat, but Fernando doesn't want to risk forcing Vic to see that. Hoping she will read the glaring neon writing between the lines, he tries to hedge, saying there isn't any proof (of MJ's accusations), but Vic insists. She assures him of how much she values his opinion and puts her hand on his, which is clearly too much for him. "Either MJ and her family have a very powerful reason for lying, or they're telling the truth," he says. But once again Vic overlooks anything that isn't comfortable: She decides that since Pedro was involved in dirty dealings, some associate of his probably forced MJ to do what she did and in order to avoid denouncing the accomplice she blamed Bruno instead. Yes, yes! That's got to be it! Even Fernando looks like can't believe she thinks that makes any sense at all, but he doesn't say anything. Obviously he hasn't given any serious thought to what his life will be like if he should succeed in winning Vic. Now here's a picture: Fernando and Vic living together at her deceased true love's mansion along with Bruno, Alex and MJ, and Paula, with Raquel --whose head will certainly explode if her mother takes up with a younger man, never mind a younger man whose not from "their" social class-- Roberto, and Pedro close at hand. Christmas will be such fun!
I personally wanted to murderize each and every one of those imbecilic asshats sitting around without a care in the world, not having to work, or make their own meals, or worry about transportation or having any of the finer things in life, yet all they could do was either sip on MJ-Alex haterade or plot to break them up. When really, MJ and Alex together OR apart does not affect their Free Rides whatsoever.
Bruno... I give him a pass. He is Main Man #1 of Merida villany and he can plot against them to his heart's content--that's his job.
Raquel needs a freaking muzzle slapped over her piehole with a quickness. I mean, that rabid b!tch just won't take a breath, as if she has ANYTHING to complain about (oh yeah, stupid me, I forgot you've got this unsavory crush on your own brother, you cow). Vicky and Nando... just looking at the two of them all high and mighty and deciding two other adults' fates as if they are the Undisputed Voices of Reason made me want to hurl. What the hell do you two know? Nando throwing Alex under the bus just because he's got a crush on Vicky is just out of line. That's like me and my very best friend of 16 years always giving each other support and every benefit of the doubt, until I meet her father, develop a crush on the man, and suddenly begin undermining her to her father because I'm so in luuuurve. (If you're reading this, Teresita, I know you are cracking up. Do not tease me about this when you call me today.) Gimme a break. Nando is on my permanent &%!@ list; good luck getting off of it, douche.
As if RaMaura constantly trolling the grounds of a house she doesn't live in, like some squatter, in isn't enough, now we've got Blond Oily Bombshell escorting her in her trolling. I swear the two of them are like roaches scurring around together, excitedly waving their antennae around, looking for a new hole to come out of.
Is anyone else surprised that the only two people who seem to have a conscience these days, even though they have both been unsavory in the past, is Pimp Daddy and Roberto? Isn't that something? Neither of them are really down with all of the Get Alex/Get MJ stuff going on, and you can see it in their troubled faces.
Poor Felipa. That's all I can say.
My Laugh Out Loud of the Night: Roberto and Uli standing very closely together, eying each other and smiling and sharing intimate tales of conquest to what sounded like their very own love theme. ROFL
In the back of my mind, a scared little voice is telling me not to forget that Rufino and his minions are bound to show up in Merida at any time.
Alex tickled the heck out of me by playing possum on that sofa. Pretending to be handsomely asleep while MJ stood there knowing she wanted his attention but not admitting it. Ha. And the way he caressed her shadow with his hand, and traced the shadow of her shoulder... mmmmmmmm. I'll bet Levy himself came up with that as they were shooting. The rascal. :D
The shower scene wasn't cut, so everyone got the real deal this time, thank goodness. For anyone who didn't get to see it last night or would simply like to see it again, I'm linking to my name. Not as much skin as we're used to, but sexy as hell nonetheless. (My brother was all agog over Jackie and all that steam. He loves watching her, and that's good because he can't tease me while I'm ogling Levy. We're a tag team.)
Well, I unloaded a lot this morning. I should be calmer the rest of the day. They were just so irritating last night, like boils on your butt--doesn't matter whether you sit down or stand up, ughh.
Happy Thursday, all.
Wow, amazing how everyone connected with Bruno's scheme is on vacation, switched jobs, or just plain disappeared. Drats.
Just to be clearer, it's everything that Nando has done so far that has me so mad at him. Yes, last night he tried to talk Vicky down a little, but it's only the first time he's done that. And whenever Alex needs some support and the benefit of the doubt these days, he will not give it.
Uli/Roberto--so gay
Maura--fake
Nando--not a good friend really because he can't keep his big mouth shut. He's got his head so far up Vicky's a$$ he can see out of her mouth. He is really pissing me off. Stephe, I agree with everything you said.
Background noises so loud last night. When Alex was getting out of bed I was cringing. It was almost like he was sitting on the microphone or something. Ouch!
My only complaint about this TN is the loud music and background noise. I'm so trying to watch without CC, but I can barely hear them speaking in some of the scenes. Marianne
Felipa god bless her heart tries to make ditzy see the truth about her rotten son.
It seems that MJ has finally accepted they're married now. So she really does need to tell Alex everytime Bruno approaches her.
Better yet alex needs to hire two bodyguards for her to keep Bruno away from her and that will solve the problem.
" AMEN!!!
WHAT is up with the sound in this 'novela??? All the scenes at houses have a roar in the back ground, as if they live right on the interstate. Makes it difficult to hear the dialog. The other night, the ice cubes clinking in glasses was louder than the conversation between (?)Racquel and someone else. Sounded like the mikes were at their waist.
Ah, well, at least we're getting shower scenes . . .
William Levy must be the Brad Pitt of LATAM. Every now and then he reminds me of him, with the blonde hair, etc., something about his looks.
Um… yes,,, I felt totally deprived that they didn’t show Ale taking off his pants before entering the shower. Waaaah.
What’s up with the 30-day rule on a marriage sticking? Is it called the Tijuana Clause?
I didn't understand a word of that conversation between Uli & Roberto, but I read a lot into U fondling R's pendant. Yikes! That looked a little .... different.
ANONYMOUS - Please invent some sort of screen name to sign with your posts, so that we can properly thank you for them. Your understanding of Spanish is waaay better than mine, and I appreciate you filling in the holes.
Stephe- I agree with your whole rant. Loved seeing Alex pretend to be asleep when he knew MJ was checking him out, the middle of the night cuddle, and the shower scene. Since we also didn't see when they brought the soap out and started to sud themselves, I'm assuming the pants came off at some point that they didn't need to show us. :) Loved Paula once again giving it to Bruno ("pug dog in a ponytail"). Lol!
Nando is now getting on my nerves. I thought after his heart to heart with Alex, he would be more willing to step up for his friend and tell Vicki that he trusts Alex's judgement. But no...instead he once again hedges and sits on the fence. And Alex once again questioning MJ. I would be pissed too. One of the things she prayed for in the church is that she is not pregnant, so we know it will happen (because La Virgen never grants prayers until the end of the novela). She also said she knows it's a sin that she and Alex have slept together (because they aren't married), but when he starts to kiss her, she just forgets everything. MJ- You and me sister! I wouldn't be able to resist either. :)

Stephe, in total agreement with EVERYTHING that you said. The cockroach part was the best. Anon, I liked your "Oil Slick", great name.
On Vicky and Nando, like I said yesterday, what annoys me is that they will be happy and together in the end. She'll be walking around, the queen bee that she is, with everyone worshiping at her feet, even our galan Alex. I don't get it...
In agreement with all who are pointing out how ungrateful Raquel and buds are. I don't know why Alex doesn't have the world's biggest ulcer. I wish he could just calm down and trust MJ a little. If he could do that, she would bring him the peace that they both need. Maybe they should move out of the house and let all of their "friends and family" have the, decorated on a LSD trip, technicolor house.

Thanks to Serendipity & Anon of the am for the great recap. As others have said, the sound editing is terrible and I'm having trouble hearing the dialogue. When WL is on the screen, I don't care much about the dialogue but for the rest of the cast...:)
Let me add myself to the gang of "I can't believe Nando is not supporting his BF because of his lust for the mom"! This added to the wooden acting of Gabriel S. is driving me crazy. Also, don't get how Maura delusion that if it weren't for MJ, she'd be Alex's wife. The actress isn't necessarily beautiful and the style of dresses she wears makes her look rather stumpy -- not a good look. Oh well, maybe others disagree but Alex doesn't appear to differ from my opinion!!
The Oil Slick/Roberto pairing seems a little off but I guess Sorti was trying to make a statement in introducing a bisexual couple so they're bound to be a little unsure of how to present them since not sure how the traditionally conservative Mexican novela watchers will react.
Loving Felipa, can't remember who mentioned but she is the Jimmy Cricket of Sorti!
Oh - and Alex outlining MJ's silhoutte on the shower door KILLED ME!!! And yes, Vivi in DC he was unbuckling his pants at the door so I'm sure the pants came off while the camera was on MJ huddled on the other side of the shower door!!

They would be illegitimate heirs, but heirs none the less. Their blood relationship could be linked directly to Antonio through Alex.
The self-righteous Victoria caused more problems than she could ever imagine by keeping this secret. If she had revealed this to her husband when Alex was a small child, there might not be such bad blood between the half brothers.
Bruno, the beast, is going to play the victim, but in a way, he, too, has been a victim. Guilt and shame on Victoria.
All other TN villains hang on to something that later implicates them (secret boxes, jewelry, documents, etc.), but I haven't seen Bruto do that. Has anyone else caught something that would implicate him?

So I am still a little lost to where Ale and MJ were. I thought they were in town near the accident site and in my mind it was far away from where MJ lived. Was that MJ's town? If so I didn't know that. That's why I was confused about the apartment.
Yes, Ale undid his pants first thing.
Everyone else in this TN has nothing better to do than talk about Ale and MJ.
Thank you again Anonymous! You have so much better understanding than I. (Maybe you would consider doing Wednesdays recap?)
-Vivi in DC
I like the chemistry between Alex anf MJ. He knew she was looking at him taking his shirt off. And he doesn't take no for an answer when it comes to taking a hot shower with his mujer!
I also like when Rachel kissed Bruno on his left eye. Brother and Sister stuff...
It looks like Uli and Roberto were together in the pass.
I still say shame on Victoria. She will be punished even more than she is suffering now. And, she has convinced Fernando, who is Alex's best friend, that MJ must be guilty of something. Alex is doubledealing, too. So, I think later on he will be punished, too. Victoria hasn't helped out at all. She just makes the situation worse.
Anyway, Serendipity, you're doing a great job.
First Alex & MJ go to rescue Chucho. Once they have done that and visited the woman at Red Cross hospital, MJ asks if they are going back to Merida. Alex says they have to stop in Saqui because he wants to check somethings out. That’s when they return to the building where Bruno had rented an apartment as “Alex”. Alejandro has brought a pic of Bruno this time to see if anyone recognizes him and therefore confirm that Bruno was the one in the apartment. He also goes back to the records hall to see if the judge has returned or if the book where his and MJ marriage is registered has turned up. He has no luck in either case.
Hope this helps :)
Antonio knew Bruno & Raquel were his children and still chose to leave the bulk of the money to Alex.
Antonio did leave them each a house so it's not like they can say they were left with nothing.
The combinationof the actual recap and Anon's notes makes for great detailed and interesting story.
But because of the length, could we please not go off topic today with the best galan game.
Marianne
in which Sendel was the villain in 2. I love watching him, so my vote would be Sergio Sendel for best villain. At least he's good to look at while being evil.
Marianne
I don't think Bruno is going to like it too much when he finds about the Nando/Vicky thing. That hasn't been broached yet, or has it? He'll see Nando as an opportunist.
Sandy in TN
-Vivi in DC
The commandante at first refused to accept Alex's statement that Chucho was innocent and that he gave Chucho the watch because he had heard of the head injury.
There are no witnesses to prove otherwise, and Alex & MJ have been acting as man and wife. He's been seen introducing people around Mexico to MJ, his "esposa." They've been seen at parties, restaurants, etc. as "man and wife." Unless Alex comes up with concrete proof that Bruno forged the certificate it's going to be a bit hard for Alex to turn around and say, "Nope never married her," especially if MJ comes up pregnant.
And if he now turns around and says "Nope never married her" people will really think he's crazy, which could impact his business, which would impact his bank account, which would impact the lifestyle of his family, not to mention everyone who works at Lombardo, Inc.
The bright side of Alex losing all his money would be that Maura would drop him like a ton of bricks.
Now, Alex can correct this by divorcing MJ with no bienes (which she's willing to do) or re-marrying MJ.
I think that there is an Alan Jackson song about waking up and finding out that you accidently married an UGLY waitress....maybe things like this happen more that we know!
Sandy in TN
If Bruno ever found out about Fernando liking his mother the you know what will hit the fan. Bruno already has an unhealthy attachment for his mother that goes way beyond being an mama's boy.
Just as Raquel unhealthy crush she has on Alex. I'm surprise that she's married since she has those feelings for Alex. Didn't Roberto say she was frigid? He must really be an poor subsistute for Alex.
Raquel & Maura are friends.
Maura is a ho.
Raquel was probably getting a reputation as a ho.
Roberto & Ulises are friends.
Ulises is gay/bi.
Roberto was probably getting a reputation as gay/bi.
They all ran in the same circle.
To shut down the ho and gay rumors Raquel & Roberto married.
The end.
Since Alex didn't know Bruno was marrying MJ, how could it be marriage by proxy? Alex seems to think that if he doesn't repudiate MJ and consummates the marriage, they are really married. I don't know Mexican law well enough to opine, but it seems to me MJ was married by fraud, and the marriage is not legal.
Oh, Hombre! Yes. Rubi was the absolutely best female villain ev-vah. Wow! Heheh. And Alberto La Font gets my best male villain--gawd what a pig. Fernando Escandon (FELS) was absolutely horrifying. Loved his villany most of the time; occasionally he crossed into The Land of Overkill and Disbelief, but oh well who doesn't. Sergio Sendel has to get Most Handsome Villain award. He simply smolders and the camera loves his face. Mm-mmm.
A friend was telling me about marriages by proxy. Alex and MJ's marriage was not meant to be that, but the mechanics of what happened and a proxy marriage are pretty close. I suppose we'll just have to look more into it. I'm certainly not an expert, I've just got an opinion...
Great comments, everybody! :)
Now,
I think Bruno does not love his mother at all. He has been cold to her, brushing her hand away when she reaches out to him; and when she was knocked out he was only interested in continuing the fight with Alex. Even Vicky admits that he always talks rude to her.
We have seen him punch MJ and manhandle her even when he wanted her to save her virginity for him. And when his hoodlum driver asked if he loves MJ, Bruno did not say yes or even no. His answer was that he is going to take everything away from Alex. In that conversation last night I got the feeling that Bruno is going to try to make himself look like a poor victim of bad crazy Alex.
And such a plan could succeed because NOBODY in that house gives a dern about Alex. They all want everything or everything their way or everything the way it used to be.
From my point of view, telenovelas are stories about people learning how to love. Some of these characters are going to learn how to love. But I don't expect Bruno will be one of them.
You are absolutely right Anon 1:10. Re-marrying (so to speak) would also give MJ peace of mind and avoid any possible legal troubles in the future. Problem is that the two of them are still too new to each other to really commit to doing that. At the same time, they are both too besotted with each other to say goodbye and get the divorce. Plus, a baby (which we know is coming by this point) will complicate their emotions even more.

However...there was one childbirth that was totally different from anything I have ever iMAgined could EVER be possible. I think I must have caught every episode that not only strained credulity but also went beyond the actors' talents to pull it off.
Cuidado was ridiculous...that birth-through-jeans things was only the tip of the iceberg...which is what made it so much fun to recap. Even so, though, I prefer WL as a smart galan.
Loved Rubi as the consummate sneaky villain. I also thought LaFont was excellent in Pasion. He was able to bring the crazy in a very convincing way. I always enjoy seeing Sergio Sendel. He's a little like Jessica Rabbit, who claimed "I'm not really bad, I'm just painted that way?"
Thanks for the recap, Serendipity. Also thanks to Anon and other commentors for the additonal info.
La Paloma
It is interesting that Raquel got busted eavesdropping. A lot of telenovelas have people eavesdropping constantly without getting found out. Looks like Felipa uttered a curse word that was *silenced*. I wonder what she said. could not read her lips.
Interesting thing from yesterday,
"Fernando takes offense, especially because trusting in mary Jo's logic is hurting his beloved Vicky, who should be up on an altar, not being hurt by her horible ungrateful children. Alex gripes that Vicky is the only one that Fernando cares about. "well she is the most defenseless", repies Fernando. " Dude are you in love with my mom?"
Alex now tries to get Fernado to spill his feelings for Vicky. Fernando carefully hedges saying, Vicky's like totally awesome and he likes her a lot. Fernando lists all the things he likes about Vicky. He assures Alex that he has never been disrespectful and would never tell her how he feels. Alex says she may be old enough to be his mom, but she's not.
Fernando does not care about nthe age difference. But he's just going to love her from afar, as an impossible love. He's not willing to cross the age line or the class line.
Looks like Alex and Fernando are just now discussing what we have been since the beginning. I'm a little surprised that Alex has not had a sterner sit down talk to Fernando. Bruno and Raquel sure won't tolerate that. I really would be strange calling him 'DADDY'.
Now on to the OT:
You guys were talking about the worst villains. Fernando Escandon is by far the worst. Satan incarnate. Lafont or Bouffy as you guys called him is also a scumbag and a douchebag. Real Evil.
Carlota give me the creeps. I thought Babs was a victime too and felt compassion for her and Gabby was demented who became Fernando's unwilling victim.
Carlota though is just on a different level of mean. One thing Carlota has in common with Gabby is hiding behind the church and the bible justifying their actions. Most especially Carlota.
You guys wanted to know who we like here, here's my picks:
I like Maria Jose and Raquel. Maura is ok too. I'm still neutral on Lisette. Paula is not doing it for me.

That's why Bruno wants to be the heir to the Lombardo fortune.I believe someone said before it really does not matter if you're the first born.
It's what has been stated in the will that counts. Even when Bruno finds out he's still not going to get what he wants.
I've noticed how many touching scenes there have been so far with alex and maria and it has only been a few weeks. Compare that with Edwuardo and Fernanda with only a few scenes together, not even on their marriage nite. I also notice that, although I thought that Fernando C was the most handsome and romantic (next to camil); however, Alex is surpassing him in the love scenes. Alex has such soft touching of her face and hair and just the way he goes about seducing her is so romantic. He is also a good lookin dude Ret.
