ENDA, January 6, 2010

Paloma is excited and tells Carloca that this is the first dress she bought with her own money. You would think that Paloma would know by now that being excited about something in Carloca's presence turns into disaster. The child will never learn.

Everyone starts trickling in for the graduation. Paloma and Liliana light a candle and MS welcomes everyone. Diplomas are handed out. MS gives Paloma a special diploma for being the best student. Carloca actually seems proud.

German brings PJC the other half of the photo.

Carloca looks at Paloma's gown and tells her that she will iron it for her. Carloca tells her to finish putting on her make-up and leaves with the dress.

Gabriel shows up at Sandra's house to bring her a corsage. Sandra's mother wants to tell him something about Sandra.

Carloca is ironing Paloma's dress and purposely ruins it by leaving the iron on it.

Emiliano yells for Romina to hurry up their going to be late. Romina comes in all whiny that she looks hideous. Emiliano reminds her that she's pregnant. I know replies Romina. I can't wait for this baby to be born. I'm tired of being fat. How can women say that being pregnant is so wonderful? She tries to adjust her scarf to hide her belly.

Rufi comes into Paloma's room all spiffed up. Paloma comments on how pretty she is. Rufi wants Paloma's dress to iron, but Paloma tells her that Carloca already is doing it. Rufi says but she doesn't like to iron! Carloca rushes in and tells Paloma that she accidentally ruined her dress. Paloma starts crying. Oh poor me!

PJC wishes he could be at Paloma's graduation. He asks God to watch out over her since he cannot be there.

Rufi thinks she might be able to fix it, but Carloca is adamant that it cannot. Carloca offers to lend her one of her dresses since the shops are closed. I'm sure it'll be an ugly dress.

The doorbell rings and it's Dr. Bermudez. Carloca says "Oh, it's you" and walks away. Rufi comes up to greet the doctor properly. As soon as the door is closed the doorbell rings again and it's Gabriel. He greets everyone and Carloca asks him rudely what he is doing here. He replies that he came to get Paloma. Suddenly Paloma walks up and says "Gabriel?" "What are you doing here?" She comes in with a shiny black shawl and a black dress. Nothing to look at.

Gabriel explains why he wants to accompany Paloma to the graduation. We don't get to hear his explanation. Carloca says absolutely not. Why asks Paloma. Because you are not going to be second best replies Carloca. Gabriel says she's misunderstood his explanation. Carloca replies that he just said his date cancelled their plans. That's not what happened says Gabriel. Is that how you understood it he asks Paloma. No replies Paloma with Rufi and Dr. Bermudez agreeing also. Dr. Bermudez points out that it's tradition for the graduates to be accompanied by a partner. Rufi mentions that it will make Paloma go to the party because now that her dress was ruined by accident by Carloca she didn't want to go. Paloma says she doesn't feel comfortable with the dress that she is wearing. But if he wants to accompany her then she would love to go. Everyone is happy except Carloca. Carloca tries again to dissuade Paloma. Gabriel says that he, Sandra and Paloma had already discussed that he would be their for both of them. Paloma pipes up and says of course. You would dance one with her and then the other with me.

Romina and Emiliano show up at the hotel where the graduation is held and come across Rafa and Luz. Rafa says he came to take Luz to the restaurant for dinner. He introduces Luz to Emiliano and Romina. Luz comments on how she has wanted to meet him and that he looks a lot like his dad. And Romina looks beautiful. They are about to leave when Camila and Orlando show up. Camila and Rafa make eyes at each other. Luz shakes hands with Camila. Emiliano breaks up the happy group and says they have to go in now. Romina comes up with the bright idea for Rafa and Luz to come along with them. Emiliano doesn't want to mess up Rafa's plan, but Romina overrides it and says that she had to buy a table and there is room for them. Rafa says thanks, but we didn't come properly dressed. Luz suggests they go home and change into appropiate attire. Romina seconds the idea. Camila asks Romina not to insist if they don't want to. Orlando seconds the comment. Romina ignores them and tells Luz that she expects them to show up.

Diana and the ladies play cards with Samuel.

Rufi asks Dr. Bermudez if he has figured out the ring situation. He says one is the original and the other a very good copy. He thinks the copy was made by Carloca.

Gabriel stops and buys Paloma a flower. He tells her he has another surprise for her.

Romina and Emiliano walk into the room where the party is being held followed by Camila and Orlando. Orlando comments that he thinks Romina went to far. Camila agree. Orlando says this dinner will be torture with you, me, Rafa and his newest girlfriend. Camila says if you want to leave, I'll understand. Orlando says of course not. Camila asks if Luz is really pretty. Orlando says she pales in comparison to you. Emiliano gets onto Romina for inviting Rafa and Luz. Now Orlando and Rafa are going to be uncomfortable. Romina thinks Camila needs to get use to it because once the baby is born they are going to around each other and Rafa's latest squeeze. So you did it to get at your mother asks Emiliano. Of course not replies Romina. I did for you. So that both your dads can be together with you.

Romina and Emiliano ask where Paloma is when the see Rufi, Carloca and Dr. Bermudez. Rufi says she's just coming in. Paloma walks in with Gabriel on her arm. The dress? Okay I guess. Carloca asks Rufi what she did. Nothing replies Rufi. I just bought her a new dress. Orlando says she's beautiful, Romina says she looks nice and Emiliano says spectacular.

Paloma goes up to Camila who tells her she looks beautiful. Paloma introduces Gabriel to her. Romina comments that she thought Paloma was coming alone. Paloma says last minute Gabriel wanted to accompany her. Emiliano says something that I don't quite catch. Probably since I am watching most of this on you tube. Anyway Liliana comes in and spots Paloma. They get all excited and Liliana says you look gorgeous. I'm so glad that you came with Gabriel especially after all that happened. Romina wants to go what's going on. Paloma says something which I don't catch and then Romina says of course. Gabriel was coming with Sandra. So you Paloma must be his consolation prize. Gabriel says of course not. If she had asked me she would have been first priority. Gabriel and Paloma take their leave.

Emiliano and Romina sit down at their table and Romina rubs it in that Paloma found herself another. Camila says Paloma's free and so is Gabriel. They look like a lovely couple. Orlando says so does Emiliano and Romina. You look beautiful today. Romina tells him not to lie. She looks like a cow.

Paloma thanks Rufi for the dress. Rufi says that Paloma has become the focus of the party. Of course Carloca is not pleased.

Rafa complains about going to the party.

Angelica is at a restaurant and in comes Miriam an old friend of hers. They were friends that parted badly. Angelica says it's because she was so into Dario. I thought everything he said was the truth. Miriam agrees and says you thought we were out to get him, but that's not the cases. I know that now replies Angelica. What happened asks Miriam. Dario stole my book replies Angelica. Miriam isn't surprised. He used me too. Angelica wants to get back at him. She wants to join forces with her. Miriam agrees.

At the party Emiliano keeps looking at Paloma and Gabriel and is jealous. German comes up and asks what's wrong? Paloma came with that guy replies Emiliano. They both talk bad about Gabriel. German assures him that he will handle everything.

Rafa and Luz show up and encounter Emiliano. Rafa says I don't think this is a good idea.

German greets Carloca and tells Paloma she looks beautiful. Rufi asks if Paloma and Gabriel are going to dance. Paloma says she wasn't but now that she has an escort she will. German says you can dance with me. Gabriel says I don't think so. That will be my pleasure. BLAH, BLAH. German says see you later, but Carloca asks German to join them instead. Gabriel spots Luz and says hi. Luz then goes over to Paloma and asks her how she got Gabriel to come since he hates these kinds of parties. Really replies Paloma. Carloca asks Rafa if he came with Luz. She's my girl replies Rafa. Carloca asks so you are divorced? She's very young isn't she? Luz says Rafa is young too and we make a great looking couple.

MS starts the party by making a speech. Rafa looks at Camila, Romina looks at Emiliano and Emiliano looks at Paloma.

Joel and Monica are washing dishes. They talk about her son. Joel says once we get married he will get use to me. Monica is shocked and says you want to marry me? Of course replies Joel. Don't you? Monica says she wants to spend her life next to him along with her son. Why don't we live together instead? That way if you want to leave you can just pack up. No papers involved. Are you that scared asks Joel. Monica begs Joel to understand. She's scared of marriage. I understand that you had a bad experience with the father of your son, but that doesn't pertain to use replies Joel. I want your son to know that my promise is not only with you but also with him. I intend to be with you for all my life.

MS asks Paloma to come up and make a speech. Gabriel escorts her to the stage. I hate that bow at the back of her dress. Paloma makes a speech about leaving behind today their childhood and looking forward to adulthood. She thanks MS for the love and guidance she has shown everyone. Emiliano drinks in every word she says and German could care less. Paloma thanks everyone especially Romina for opening up her heart to her when she first came to the school. Romina cries silently. Paloma says with Romina I learned what a friend is and a sister. I will always care for her. No matter what. Carloca just shakes her head. Video of Romina and Paloma as kids at the school. Everyone looks on at the video and tears are running down Romina's face. Carloca yawns. Emiliano smiles. Liliana laughs. At the end of the video Romina and Paloma embrace. Sweet.

PJC's cellmate asks about the torn photo. PJC says it's my father who is now dead. What did he die of asks cellmate. Psoriases of the liver replies PJC. What's with the photo though? This picture showed up at the hospital while I was sleeping. I need to know who gave it to me.

The old lady gets a call from someone saying in a couple of days things will be finalized. Old lady says finally Cristobal.

Manana: The special dance; Romina is pissed Emiliano and Paloma danced together.

Can someone tag this please? Thanks.

Will do, Gloria. I think I'll watch this episode. I want to see the video of Paloma and Romina as little girls.

I'm confused with the whole dress thing. First it was black when she left the house then Rufi bought her another one????????? How did this happen on the way to the party???
ella

Thanks, Gloria, for a great recap.

I too am confused about Paloma's dress. When did Rufi have the opportunity to buy Paloma a new dress and to give it to her, and for her to put it on, all on the way to the graduation party? My beanie is spinning.

I'm also somewhat confused about the video. I assume that since the video screen came down, the video was shown at the party. But where did they get all that footage of Romina and Paloma when they were young, not to mention the footage of the fight between Romina and Liliana? And why wasn't there more coverage of the other graduates? My beanie has fallen off.

Also, was the torn photo that Cristobal has a photo of his father, or was it of Cristobal and was given to him by his father? I thought it was the latter, but my Spanish is pitiful, so I could well be mistaken. Again. :-)

The photo could have been Cristobal. Maybe I misunderstood. I'll have to double check and fix unless someone knows for sure. The whole dress thing with Paloma had me confused too. The video was shown to everyone in the room. So it was kind of funny showing Emiliano at the school dressed as a nun. It was cute though.

Thanks Gloria you helped clear up some things that I just couldn't understand.

So, I admit, the video got my eyes a bit moist. Very cute, but at the same time I couldn't help thinking it was cheesy too. I mean, most of those were private moments with no one with a video tape around. If someone was actually taping the fight between Romeeena and Liliana, wouldn't that tape have cleared up the whole reason why Paloma got busted for it in the first place? OKAAAAY.

German, you are becoming scummier by the episode. He never even makes reference to his baby anymore either.

That whole dress switch has got me very confused too. Can someone clarify? I understand that Gabriel took her to pick it up but there didn't seem to be time to even make those arrangements. Does Rufi have a secret dressmaker best friend who is willing to open up her shop and tailor a dress for Paloma with a quick phone call (honestly, I don't even think there was a phone call involved.)
At first I thought it could have been a very old dress of Macarena's but that doesn't work either. Hmm?

Thank you Gloria. Appreciate your detailed recap. Your "the child will never learn" was sadly true.

I'm also confused about a number of things including why Sandra didn't go last night. Did we ever find out or did I just miss it?

Ella, I don't know how the new dress appeared either - Rufi had Dr. B stop on the way and buy it? The timing and how she changed etc. was off.

While I liked the montage of Paloma and Romina, it certainly excluded all of the other students. As you said Juanita, beanie time for sure.

Carlita, I agree that German is inching closer to the edge. I still have hope he somehow redeems himself before the end. I thought (perhaps incorrectly) he believes Romina's assertion that the baby is Emiliano's and that is why he backed away. As he will no doubt be revealed to be the father before this ends, it's for the child's sake I'm hoping he can be redeemed.

I thought Paloma looked beautiful and it was nice to see her happy and smiling at least for a while. I can't imagine how stressful it must be for a young girl of 17 to play such a sorrow laden character at her tender age.

Diana

Diana thank you for reminding me...do we knowwhy Sandra was in her bed crying and Gabriel took Paloma to the party???

Rufi had asked Gabriel to stay back a few minutes when they were leaving for the party and it seems as if she gave him keys to her house where the dress was. it's not clear when she bought it but she hinted that she had connections in the town. Gabriel handed her back keys at the table, but I thought Rufi lived at Misery Manor, so that doesn't make sense.

The dress fit Paloma better than most of her other clothes. It had something of a costumely look but it was flattering to her, especially with her hair up. She looked radiant. Lilian's dres was gorgeous, but would have been too sophisticated for Paloma.

I was all, "awwwww" over the warm fuzzy moment between Paloma and Romina, but from the advances it didn't last long. Yep, time's up for Romina acting human and she's back to her jealous, miserable self. Ah well, maybe becoming a mother will soften her up.

The baby in the picture is Cristobal. I think he said it was taken just before his father died.

Thank you, Gloria.

I thought maybe Rufi had done something when someone knocked at the door, she wasn't right there at first and Carloca got it. Maybe she got the dress out then. Sandra was sick with hepatitis, I think that's what they said, or maybe the word means something else.

I thought Pal looked better than usual, she did look radiant and it was great to see Carloca frustrated and people supporting Pal. I, too, thought the video was a bit strange to show to everyone but I also was moved by it.

Thanks Gloria and Yes Rufi gave Gabriel keys to the house so he could bring Paloma back to change into the dress she bought for her.

Also remember Rufi had offered to buy Paloma her dress before and Paloma declined. Rufi kept insisting she had money she didn't spend on anything.

Rufi really wanted to buy her something for graduation so i think it was then that she bought the dress.

Carloca is a piece of work,i don't know why she even made the effort to ruin that hideous dress in the first place. So glad her plan backfired on her.

She should have never touched it to go to such lengths to ruin her niece's day like that i just can't wait for her fall.

Loved seeing the younger RoMEna and Paloma again. The girl who played RoMEna as the little girl is so adorable with her dimples.

RoMEna just doesn't quit glad Emiliano recognized why she did that with Luz and Rafael to get back at her mother.

I don't
think motherhood will turn RoMEna around she wanted a abortion and it was too late for her to have it.

She been using this baby as the sole purpose for getting what she wants Emiliano i don't think she loves it at all.

She really is a nasty selfish piece of work who doesn't deserve to have a mother like Camila.

While i was crying at the end with her Paloma hugging each other.

We see the previews of her and Carloca i'm guessing the ladies room discussing Paloma dancing with Emiliano.

I hope someone is in the stalls and over hears them talking to each other.

I don't understand why Cris would have his father's baby picture? It doesn't make any sense to me, why if this woman is his mother wouldn't have a picture of his father as a adult.

Ivy you're right Sandra was sick i didn't quite catch what it was though.

Thanks for the recap Gloria. For all the troubles Carloca set in Paloma's path, Carloca did seem quite proud when Paloma got up front getting the recognition, at both the graduation and the dinner. She was talking to those around her telling them, that's my niece. She was either quite proud... or perhaps taking all of the credit... ;) She couldn't have done it without me. :)

My state-of-the-art beanie is allowing me to understand that the crazy school has really high-quality security cameras EVERYWHERE, allowing them to capture all these antics over the years. They just don't use them as evidence to settle arguments and mete out punishments after fights because they want the girls to learn some lessons. And there must have been more footage of the other girls included, but we only saw the highlights of Paloma and Romina because those are the characters we know best. There, it all makes sense.

Rufi was really quite clever, working out a dress switch after Carlota had left so she couldn't screw it up. I thought the new dress was old-fashioned, and I liked the embroidered bodice part better than the skirt and the bow, but Paloma did look very pretty, like a fairy-tale princess.

I just tuned out most of Paloma's speech. I hate graduation speeches in general, and I especially hate them when the speaker makes everything all about them, like who cares about the rest of the class.

Jeff I agree that it wasn't that Carlota was proud of Paloma but she was taking credit for her success.

Thanks Gloria. Very thorough recap.

Sandra did have hepatitis. They dragged out telling us what was wrong with her until she told Liliana over the phone.

I was furious at Carloca the whole episode, even more than usual. The murders (Iñaki, Alonso, and the blackmailing maid) were done so that her evil ways would not be revealed and/or the truth about embezzling Pal's money coming out. But that was just low-down, rotten mean ruining the dress Paloma was so proud of. And she behaved like an absolute sh!t during the whole party, glowering because Paloma was shining. It's kind of a beanie moment that no one notices or comments on her face when she's furious at Paloma's having some happiness.

I'm pretty sure Samuel is a card sharp who's cheating these women.

Yes, Carloca was grinning like mad at Paloma's accomplishments because she's sure everyone now thinks she molded Paloma into this person.

Emiliano is getting to be quite the sulker. He doesn't even try to hide his jealousy and depression at a party where everyone can see this. He has that in common with Carloca. He's so self-obsessed with his misery at losing Paloma that he doesn't care about anyone else's feelings.

I find it amazing that Carlota seems to have had such an upstanding reputation among so many people for so long. She is so openly downright rude all the time, and people do notice that kind of thing. Also, people who really are highly moral don't generally feel the need to go around announcing it to all and sundry.

This episode reminded me of my own high school graduation in a way. My mother had bought me a new dress to wear, and I hated it. It was really not my style, and I thought it was horribly unflattering and she was being mean and trying to make me look hideous so everyone would laugh at me. Later, of course, I realized that she meant well and we just have different taste (and she probably just didn't see me the way I saw myself and thought I looked fine), but at the time I was quite hurt and I refused to wear it and wore pants instead.

Of course, Carlota doesn't mean well at all and is blatantly hostile, and Paloma still won't learn to stay away from her and not tell her anything.

Thanks Anon for clarifying the dress switch. I didn't know those were the house keys. Explains the look on Carloca's face.

Novelera, thanks for the Hepatitis info. Poor girl. Sandra was so upset about missing the party and Gabriel as her date.

No problem Carlita.

Julia ITA it just leaves me surprised how everyone ignores Carloca's rudeness. I guess from being around her they are used to dealing with her nastiness.

As for Paloma she now has to recognize that her aunt does not do things for her best interest.

Hopefully her finding out about Inaki's engagement ring will be her wake up call.

Love how Dr. B told Rufi the only reason he thinks Carloca would do something like that was preventing Paloma from having her independence.

She wants her to be totally under her control and be dependent upon her. Good deduction from our two sleuths.

Novelera you hit the nail right on the head regarding emilano. He is so obsessed with his own feelings, he act selfishly. Really loving Paloma would mean letting her get on with her life and not expecting her to isolate herself from the male population of the world.

Totally. Emo is so self-absorbed. It would be one thing if he actually had a plan for leaving Romina and marrying Paloma, and Paloma was amenable. But right now his plan seems to be that he will stay with Romina "for the baby" but Paloma has to be put on ice, just in case he's ever free, or even if he is never free she may never look at any other man.

I so want to see Paloma and Gabriel madly making out where Emo can see them and will blow his top. I mean, really.

I think a lot of Emo's irrationality stems from the fact he's feeling a bit blue, so to speak. He's a hot-blooded young man who has gotten no action since he returned to Real del Monte, at least, and he's been pining after Paloma nearly all that time.

Julia I agree..Gabriel seems like he would be much more of a pleasure to spend time with. I actually think him and Luz look like the perfect couple.

Gloria – another wonderful recap! Thank you. I couldn’t figure out what Rafa was doing at the party and you cleared that up for me. I also want to thank you for last week’s recap of the episode which I didn’t get to see as we had a power outage, so you really saved the day for me.

There were so many things glossed over in this episode, after months of careful writing. The dress Rufi got Paloma, the video that showed just Paloma and Romina, the fact that Luz had a formal party-ready dress with her, the fact that Joel wants to marry someone he just has taken out a few times. And from yesterday, the fact that Carlota left an expensive ring in her drawer instead of putting it in her safe deposit box.

And did we ever hear a conversation earlier in which Sandra and Paloma agreed that Gabriel would dance with both of them?

Judging from the avances, I think tonight we’re going to see Paloma, who has never danced before, suddenly executing some fancy moves.

I didn’t know what to make of that dress. It didn’t seem like something a young girl would want to wear. My eyes popped when I saw that huge bow, which was pretty awful. It was a striking dress, but it didn’t seem modern.

I don't think Paloma and Sandra ever agreed to that. Paloma was planning to go alone. She just caught on quick (for once) when Gabriel said this was their plan, so Carlota would quit trying to badger her into being a bitter snob and having no fun.

Thank you, Gloria, for the great recap of a very tight beanie episode. Everyone seems to have had the same ???s regarding Paloma's Cinderella moment with the miraculous appearance of the 2nd gown by fairy godmother Rufi and the video montage at the graduation taken by whom, we ask. And did they have montages of the rest of the graduating class as Juanita queried or just ignore the other 19 graduates?

Anyway, saw that Amor Real is going to be running after Destilando Amor ends shortly on Telefutura /Telemundo (whatever the name.) Desti is running for 2 hours now from 4 pm to 6 pm. Don't know if Amor will start out at 2 hours. The promos featured Colunga, Adele Noriega and a blond Carlota. I'm probably the only novela fan never to have seen Amor and am looking forward to catching it when I can.

GinCA

GinCA, thanks for giving me the heads up on Amor Real. I bought the DVD after seeing some episodes on you tube. Not quite the same and was hoping it was coming out again on TV. Thanks so much.

GinCA, Amor Real is my favorite TN of all time. I'll probably watch it again.

I don't exactly know which blonde you mean, but Leticia Calderon (Carlota) was not in that TN.

Hi, Great Recap, I Don't Know But I Actually Liked Paloma's Dress, It Was Way Better Then Anything Else She's Ever Worn, I'm Still In My 20's And I Would Wear It Definitely, Also, The Dress Getting On Her Made Sense, Gabriel Did Say He Had Another Surprise For Her, So That Must Have Been When He Took Her To The House So She Could Change. Today is Friday, So Usually The Juicy Stuff Happens, Can't Wait To See =)

Novelera, Leticia Calderon did play in Amor Real. She came in later, and was the only woman on the show wearing pants. Don't remember what her name was.
