ENDA Tuesday January 5. Really, Chava might have the right idea.

Living in Real del Monte could drive anyone to drink. Cris the recovering alcoholic is probably going to need strong therapy of some kind to avoid either a relapse, or slicing his own veins to get the evil blood out.

Paloma and Cristóbal (not yet glowing purple) tell each other how strongly attached they are. I hope Cris recovers super-fast, because I find hospital scenes quite tiresome. Even the zombie prison is better.

Luz tells Gabriel she knows his secret. He’s upset, but she says she found out quite a while ago, by accident, and it hasn’t changed anything between them thus far, so it needn’t change anything now. She won’t tell anyone. She does urge him to carpe diem, live life fully, fall in love, etc.

Cris tells Padre Benito he hates Carlota with the fire of a thousand suns and wants to kill her.

Paloma calls Gabriel and tells him that PJC is going to be fine. She says she’ll see him at their next class, and not to worry about Auntie Maim because soon (WHEN?!?!! This girl lives in Neverland) Paloma will be a legal adult and things will be so much better. Gabriel gets all smily and wiggles eyebrows with Luz.

Rufi tells Dr. Bermúdez about the second ring she found, exactly like Paloma’s engagement ring from Iñaki, which Carlota said was worthless. The doc wants to see them.

Mónica watches her son drawing with his class of little children. The kids are all wearing girly smocks. Joel shows up, says hello to the kid, and is rewarded with a big hug and kiss. He gives the little boy a present right in front of the other kids, which seems kind of rude, but they don’t seem to notice. Mónica is touched by the schmaltzy sentimentality of the scene.

Germán illuminates Paloma on the subject of prison vigilante justice. She wonders if there is something they can do to protect PJC and Natalia, like prove their innocence. Germs thinks that will be hard because he is a crappy lawyer who has been bought off by the opposition and no one can be bothered to investigate. He leaves to visit Natalia.

Loser Chava hangs in the park, drinking with his buddies. Meche shows up and yells at him. He tries to blame his drinking on the hypocritical killer priest.

Emiliano has taken Rufi and Paloma home, and Rufi is instantly summoned by the bellowing harpy, leaving Emo free to hit on Paloma, even though she keeps pointing out how his continued pursuit annoys her.

Carloca lounges in bed and demands juice, as she is feeling weak after giving up her demon fluid. She also wants to make sure Rufi knows that it is thanks to her that Cris is still alive. Rufi would rather thank God. She asks La Loca what exactly are her intentions in all this. Well, obviously, says Carloca, to keep Cris alive and make him eternally grateful to her. “And are you ever going to resign yourself to the fact that he will never return your feelings?” asks Rufi. Cruel glares.

Cris is still grossed out and horrified at having Carlota’s cooties. Dr. Rodolfo apologizes but says it was an emergency. Cris says he has a lot of suspicions about Carlota but isn’t yet ready to stir up (remover) the past.

Carlota is annoyed that it is so obvious that Cris does not return her affections. She tells Rufi that soon she will get a big surprise; everyone will find out that Cris is really in love with her. Rufi manages not to roll her eyes back so far that they get stuck, and leaves. Crueloca pulls out her precious envelope of “incriminating” creepy photos and tells Cris he’ll have to give in. She rubs the photos all over herself and seems to get all het up by that, blegh.

Paloma tells Emo it would be better if he just gave Romina a chance. He says he has, but his lips only want Paloma’s, and the lips don’t lie. He takes her hand and leans in, and when said lips are mere millimeters apart, we must go to commercial. Elmo and some fuzzy green character take the opportunity to teach us how to cough properly to avoid spreading disease, but they don’t mention kissing or devil blood cooties.

When we return, we can’t tell whether they are actually kissing due to the camera angle. Well, whatever, Emo says he’d better leave before things get harder. He makes it to the other side of the gate before he has his usual meltdown.

Camila is still tormenting herself with flashbacks of Rafael and Luz and trying to pep-talk herself into getting over it, since she was the one who left him. Mónica interrupts to rave about how well Joel and her son hit it off, and how happy she is that she can fall in love and have a partner in life after all. She hopes Camila will be as happy with Orlando. Cami tries to put on a brave face.

Emiliano drags himself home. Romina is for some reason super excited about the graduation party and showing him her new dress and asking him if he wants to invite his parents. Wow, this town has a dismal social scene. He says Germán wants to be invited. Romi doesn’t like that, but says he should invite Rafael and his new girlfriend. “Huh?” asks Emo. Romi says she saw them herself, and she never knew Rafa could be soooo affectionate. “Oy,” thinks Emo.

Samuel gives bewigged Diana a stolen flower and strokes her cheek. Maybe his oiliness will get rid of her squeaking.

Emiliano calls Rafa, who is hanging around in pajamas with Luz, to verify the existence of the new girlfriend. Rafa says it happened rather by surprise, and in carefully worded answers tells Emo part of him is happy, and the other part will just have to forget. You can guess which part is which.

Meche cries to Padre Mateo about her screwup grandson. PM says he’ll ask Emiliano to help him try to talk some sense into the kid.

Crueloca calls Germy and asks him if something could happen to Natalia in prison, also. “Gosh, I hope not,” says Germs. “But it’s possible, right?” Cruel asks hopefully. Germy looks appalled. They clarify that Cruel is willing to spend plenty of money to achieve her goals.

Natalia mopes in prison and remembers Cris leaving her at the altar. She tells herself that life would have been so different if they had just gone through with the wedding. Now she’s afraid she’ll be in jail forever.

Paloma asks Carloca about her conversation with Gabriel and his father. Carloca tries to claim Gabriel’s slinking around with his tail between his legs is his way of heading off accusations at the pass, so he must have had bad intentions. Carloca wants him to know she is there to defend Paloma. Paloma is confused and doesn’t think that is how he was acting at all. La Loca doesn’t like having her ridiculous assertions challenged so she says she’s tired. She warns Paloma to stay away from that wolf in sheep’s clothing, PJC (now with less P). Paloma says she will always believe he is innocent.

The lady on wheels checks into a hotel, asking for the biggest room they have. Samuel passes by her at the reception desk, on the phone with Romina. He claims he’s in Mexico City and just kept the room in Real del Monte (or is it in Pachuca? I don’t know) as a place to keep his stuff. Not to worry; the furniture is on its way. She invites him to her graduation. “Uhhh…didn’t you get expelled?” he asks. She still gets to go to the party, which is obviously the important thing. He says it would be too awkward to be around Camila. Emiliano eavesdrops and looks disgusted. He kisses Romina on the forehead and leaves, and Romi looks sad and rubs her belly.

Eric drops off an envelope in Germy’s office, and things instantly get hostile:
Germs: Just leave it there.
Eric: I’m not your cat; don’t order me around like you’re the boss.
G: I’ll be the boss soon, so you’d better get used to it.
E: You’re rising like foam, and foam disappears. Be careful.
G: Estúpido! You’re just jealous because Liliana can’t forget me.

Emiliano and Padre Mateo drop by Meche’s quesadilla stand while Chava is begging her for food. They’d like one of everything, and also a chat with the young hoodlum.

Rojas calls Germs and says he’s heard that he is Carloca Espiny de los Monstruos’s new lawyer. He warns Germy to watch his back and says he doesn’t know whether to congratulate him or offer condolences. Germán hangs up and says he’s just jealous.

PM and Emo give Chava a boring lecture. I could not care less about this character.

Rufi shows Rodolfo the two rings, looking nervously over her shoulder and saying she’s worried because she thinks La Loca has superhuman powers.

Paloma gives the madre superiora a copy of her graduation speech and says she doesn’t know whether it’s any good, as she can’t concentrate. MS says she can tell how strong a bond Paloma and Padre Juan have. Paloma is sorry that he won’t be able to be at the graduation. Yes, missing the graduation is really worse than being accused of murder, being sent to zombie prison, getting de-priested, getting shivved, and being pumped full of demon blood. This school really must throw one heck of a graduation party.

Germán visits Cris in the hospital. Cris asks him to make sure that Carlota is not present at the trial.

Carlota lounges about, dreaming of the day when she will be Carlota Espinosa de los Monteros de Gamboa. Good thing it will never happen; she would probably insist on being addressed by all of that, every time.

Cris sleeps and creepy music of doom plays as we see part of a picture drop onto his bedside table, then the door closing. The photo appears to be half a black-and-white shot of a baby, torn diagonally.

The next morning, a nurse removes Cris’s needles and wakes him up. Germy arrives and they help Cris sit up. No indecency in this hospital; the patients get to wear pants. Cris sees the photo and is stunned. He says he has the other half and never knew that this half still existed. He begs Germy to ask the other padres to find his half in his things and bring it, and to find out how this half arrived. Cris continues to hyperventilate.

Montage of Emo and Paloma making googly eyes at each other while Paloma supervises her art class and Emo halfheartedly kicks the soccer ball around with the boys. Time passes.

Cris returns to prison and is buddy-buddy with the other prisoners. Paloma visits Natalia. Time passes.

Luz snuggles up to Rafa in bed. Samuel and Diana get frisky on the couch. More time is passing.

Camila and Orlando plan their wedding. The padres hunt through Cris’s stuff and find the other half of the baby picture. More time passes.

Romina looks even bigger, and tries on dresses and cries about how huge she is. Emo laughs at her.

Paloma and Gabriel flirt a lot during her art lessons.

Paloma admires her dowdy graduation party dress and tells herself she will not be bitter and uncomfortable because she doesn’t have a date. Carlota comes along and tells her the dress is too daring and inappropriate. Daringly ugly, and inappropriately unfestive, I say. I don’t think she could possibly have found something more conservative. Anyhoo, Paloma doesn’t care. She’s proud that she bought the dress with money she earned herself.

FINALLY it is graduation day. Caps and gowns, smiles, diplomas, candles, speeches, making eyes at your married beloved, the usual. Paloma gets a special plaque for being the best. Everyone claps. Caps thrown. Fortunately, we are not subjected to Paloma’s speech.

Mañana: The big party. Paloma seems to have the impression it is a Victorian costume ball. She smiles at Gabriel and Emiliano gets ragingly jealous.

Juila thanks for the fast and funny recap.

Is Carloca putting a hit on Natalia?

German is so full of himself right now i can't wait for him to be bought down to earth.

Rufi you finally did something good about the rings and telling Dr.B.

I wonder what the baby pictures are about.

Paloma simply has no taste, i thought Carloca was trying not to laugh out loud at her horrible choice.

The dress she is wearing tomorrow at the party looks fabulous.

I don't think Cris can control who gets to come in and see his trial.

Hey, your title says it all. These folks are driving you to drink! Thanks for a very funny take on what seems to have been a very dismal and annoying episode. But remember "time passes" and one day Auntie Maim will get hers while the goody-goody folks live happily ever after.

Oh my gosh! What a funny recap. Lol!

Someone, please get Cris and Nat a new lawyer. Even without knowing that Germs is on the take with Carloca, he has not show any competence so far at all, and has not shown that he has any plan. Can someone please pay attention and question his abilities, please.

Monica’s son is Leticia Calderon’s son in real life (who has Downs Syndrome). This was his acting debut. She a big advocate the rights of children with disabilities like her son.

The only thought I had while watching the graduation was, thank God we never have to see those ugly brown uniforms again! Yay! :)

Julia, you were in fine form evidenced by: "slicing his own veins to get the evil blood out" and "making eyes at your married beloved". Excellent recap.

So when will we be privvy to Gabe's secret? I agree Anon, the baby pictures are puzzling...

So many mismatched couples: Orlando and Camila, Rafa and Luz, Emiliano and Romina to name a few. However, Diana and Samuel are perfectly matched - liars, thieves and opportunists, the pair.

I thought the scene with Mónica, Joel and her son was very touching. I did wonder if it was Leticia's son - thank you for confirming that Vivi.

Paloma looks beautiful in the previews. More jealousy from Emiliano and resentment from Romina in store, I'm sure.

Diana

Hey Julia, awesome recap. Loved all references to La Loca's blood creeping throuh PJC's (less P) veins.

I am with Vivi...When is someone going to question German's competence. I thought in the beginning he was just an emergency lawyer, just to see if they could get PJC and Nat some primary legal representation, but who woulda thunk that they would keep him????

I too thought the scene with the boy and Joel was touching. Julia, you are right though, It was kinda rude to bring something for him in front of the other kids...I kinda chuckled when I read that.

Anon, you may be on to something with the possible hit on Natalia...right up Carloca's alley. Her way of solving problems.

Julia, what a fantastic recap! It helped me fill in gaps in my Spanish, and I LOVED the humor. Lines like "Cristóbal (not yet glaring purple)" and "Maybe [Samuel's] oiliness will get rid of [Diana's] squeaking."

I missed Carloca's asking whether something could happen to Natalia. Yikes, her lust for blood is endless. I guess she's got to get some fresh blood to make up for the pints she transferred to Cristóbal. My guess is that Natalia will live, but then again I'd never have guessed that Iñaki and Macarena would die.

Loved the "making eyes at your married beloved, the usual". There was another line when Emiliano was at Paloma's house that was also funny to me, but I won't pick it out as this is a family site and it wasn't meant the way I took it.

I think the baby picture might have been left by the assistant to the "lady on wheels". Maybe meant as kind of a hint to Cris that someone from his past is here.

I was horrified they put Cris back in the general population after what happened to him. The only prisoner I saw being friendly to him was his cellmate. Inmate Frankensten seemed to still be eyeing him creepily.

I think by this time I would have wanted to know what my lawyer's game plan is. Even though Germ is dressing more professionally these days, he isn't being proactive on behalf of his clients. First thing, hire a detective to dig up evidence. What's he getting paid for?

Paloma looked sensational in the party previews. That didn't look like the same dress. I didn't see those hideous flowers.

Jackie

Welcome back and thanks for the recap Julia. From your title to you great like comments (PJC without the P, not yet glowing purple, etc) this was another fun read.

Yes Vivi someone (anyone) needs to get a clue and get rid of German as a lawyer. I keep thinking before this novela is over German may not live to see the end. His greed might get the best of him and he'll try to cross La Loca. Then he'll find out how evil and crazy she is.

Paloma did look great in the preview. Thankfully someone kept her from that dress she had last night.

Julia - thanks you are a great writer, I look forward for your recaps and your humor. Boy did Romeana pop out! I must say that Emo is really getting on my nerves Blech! What a wimp! Thanks again....

Angelica had mentioned to Emiliano that Cris and Natalia would need a more experienced lawyer than German.

i guess Emiliano completey forgot that since he's been stalking and mooning after Paloma.

I was thinking it was the lady in the wheel chair man servant who left the picture. I wonder what the significance of the baby picture is though.

The dress Paloma will be wearing tonight is gorgeous far better than that ugly drab piece of garbage that she thought suited her.

It's about time they had their graduation, Paloma and the gang were like stuck in the final year it seem like going on two or three years already.

It seem like it was only twenty students graduated at that, i guess the rest got tired of waiting and went to a normal time zone to graduate.

I was like WTF why are you putting Cris back in general population and he's not fully healed yet either.

Was i the only one grossed out by Carloca with her pictures.Rufi trying to lecture her about Cris was too funny.

Rufi who has been annoying me lately first with Camila confronting her about Cris being Paloma's dad.Rufi didn't tell her because of Cris being locked up and what he was accused of was her excuse.

Then when Dr. B asked her about Cris's reaction to Carloca giving him blood what was the story behind it. Her saying after we leave RDM i will tell you, drove me nuts.

I hope when Dr. B learns about the fake imitation ring Carloca had made of Inaki's engagement ring maybe this will encourage Rufi to tell all.

Where the heck is Carmen surely whatever trip she's may still be on she has to have heard or read about Cris and Natalia.

great recap,Julia.

It seems to me that Paloma favors brown. Even when she appeared at the awards, her dress was brown and cream -- most unflattering.

I couldn't understand when Rufi and the Dr. were discussing the identical rings why they didn't immediately come to the conclusion that Carloca was was responsible.

I take back my hope that German would redeem himself, he seems to be getting worse and worse.

Ann-NYC

Emilano...go away...you are just too annoying for words.

GO Gabriel...that is a galan!!!!!

Ann what German did to Emiliano his so-called best friend is something you just don't do.He has never shown he can be honest or trustworthy at all.

Unfortunately for now Cris and Natalia are stuck with his incompetence for now.

I hpe the lady in the wheelchair whatever her relationship is with Cris will rectify that and get his scheming behind thrown off their case and hopefully disbarred too.

Rufi knows Carloca is behind the identical rings she found one of them in her drawer when she was cleaning up in her study.

What Rufi and Dr. B want to know now is why, once Dr. B discovers that Carloca's ring is replica it will expose another lie by her telling Paloma her ring is worthless.

I've been thinking about when Luz told Gabriel she knew his secret but won't divulge it. Could, perhaps, Gabriel have HIV??? Maybe that's why he wants it kept secret???

Ann-NYC

Sometimes I get annoyed with Rufi when it seems as if she's purposely provoking Carloca. Not a smart thing to do.

Jackie

Julia, your vacation must’ve put your brain cells in fit form, because this whole recap was a hoot. I was laughing all the way through. You got off some great lines, way too many to mention, but all very much savored and appreciated.

I was astonished when Carlota and Rufi were having an open discussion about Carlota’s feelings for Chris. Is my memory failing me? I don’t recall them ever discussing it before, and yet they were talking like it was an old topic.

I was also astonished to see that Chris’s assailant was standing there in the prison yard when he returned. Chris knows who stabbed him – why wasn’t this guy punished, or at least isolated from the other prisoners?

Chris was at death’s door just a few days ago, and already he’s released into the general prison population, known to be dangerous?

That half-photo convinces me that the wheelchair lady is Chris’s mother, who kept her half, which onlyshows a tiny bit of head plus an ear, if I remember correctly, all these years.

Ann i was thinking the same thing myself about Gabriel.

Rufi it seems she can't help herself about provoking Carloca.

Jackie, that line was intentional. Sometimes I have no restraint. Oooops, I mean: What?! I would never say something lewd on purpose!

The lack of any sense of urgency in the good guys really frustrates me at times. They need to find a better lawyer, they need to share everything they know, they need a detective! This is no time for Rufi to be holding back when she's the one with the most clues.

So is Paloma 18 yet? This is ridiculous.

Samuel and Diana definitely deserve each other. They could not have made a better match. Wonder how Romina will like that.

Julia ITA Rufi is the major source but she has been withholding from Camila and now Dr.B when confronted by both.

I was surprised as heck when she went to Dr. B about the rings, hopefully this will start the ball rolling with her to open up disclose
everything she knows about Mac, Cris, Paloma and La Loca.

Paloma had mention the other day that her birthday was going to be her in a couple of months so lets hope it's soon.

RoMEna will have a fit when she finds out about Samuel with Diana, RoMEna still thinks with her conniving she can still get Camila to go back with him.

Samuel and Diana are definitely made for each other.

Julia, haha. What a relief. I thought it was only me. You must be a riot to hang out with.

Jackie

Great recap Julia, I agree you are a great writer. A word of advice, stay away from anyone named Dario. :)

I'm not sure if Frank(Nstein) was eyeing pJC (just a little p) crossly. My guess is that pJC won't fink on him and he'll now turn into a good bud of pJC. Maybe, perhaps... :)

Biggest complaint I have with ENDA is that we are always 2 months away from Paloma's 18th birthday!!! When will we get to that? What's with the writers on that one???

Ann-NYC... Perhaps the HIV is correct. I'm thinking the Gabriel was into drugs at one time as he was quite upset, very upset, when Pal's student sniffed the thinner.

Oh... Since it's taking so long to get to the 18th birthday, I was wondering if we have been running through a Ground Hog's Day scenario and we haven't seen it yet. :)

And Samuel and Diana so deserve each other. I just hope they get really deep into each other before they figure out the other one just doesn't have any money.
Not sure what RoMEna would think of them together. She may like it as she somewhat likes Diana, a lot like her.

RoMEna won't like the Diana and Samuel pairing is because she still wants her parents to be together.

That's why she first told Camila and then Orlando about Rafael and his young woman he's seeing.

The second reason why is because she knows Emiliano doesn't like her father and agrees with her mother about Samuel. He will be very upset once he learns about this.

As for Paloma's birthday who knows when it will happen probably around the time when it's getting near the end.

She practically was in her last year of school and took about two years for her to graduate.

I missed last night due to an engagement, however Julia's recap was terrific! It was ALMOST like seeing it!

When I was little in the 50's and things got a little "steamy" in the movies, they would always "fade out" and suddenly it would be the next day. My brothers and I always laughed and said, "The curtain falls and time passes" as a euphemism for things we did not speak of in the 50's. And I, too, caught the "double entendre", masterfully executed!

I have an idea about the torn baby picture, but IF I am right it might be seen as a spoiler, and I have NO idea what the future holds, so I will pass for now.

I hope, soon, to get a recorder with my FiOS system so I can tape an episode I know I will miss. I am horribly hooked on ENDA! Thanks, Julie, for my ENDA fix!

tm

tm, if you really don't know, then it's not a spoiler. Speculating is just fine! It seems kind of like an "Annie's locket" thing to me...I think that old lady must be Cris's mother, although I have no idea why they've been separated. She seemed to know exactly who he was when she saw the headline, and reacted quite strongly.

Julia your recap was too funny. After the ENDA is over you should go get a writing job on David Letterman's show.

Whoever the gray lady is to Cristobal, I hope she has a lot of money to get him a better lawyer. German is a joke.

maria

I think the lady in the wheelchair does have a lot of money that's why we saw her buying tickets first class from Paris.

Her hotel stay was i believe she told the receptionist indefinite too, plus i think it was a expensive suite she got.

This is to show us that this woman has money to fight Carloca.

ITA i hope she meets up with Cris soon so they can get rid of German. They way he was acting so self important last night i can't wait for his down fall.

OK, thanks! Here's my theory: Something must have happened to PJC before he found God (and was a hopeless drunk) involving the "Wheelchair Lady" that made him tear up the picture in anger and send half of his baby picture to the wheelchair lady breaking off his relationship with whom I believe is Mom, maybe with something separating them forever - until now. Ahora, she seems "muy rico!"

Or, just turn it around...Mom gives him up for adoption, tears the picture in half and begs the new parents to preserve the half for him and give it to him when he grows up and they tell him the truth.

Of course, a man of God should have made up MUCH earlier with an estranged mom...but this IS a telenovela. Maybe he thought she was dead? Or hated him? I'm anxious to find out!

Sound reasonable in Telenovelaland? As you can see, I read the adorable article about "How you know your are living a Telenovela" on this site! What fun!!
