En Nombre del Odio Monday, March 1, 2010: Purple Rain

Before we start, I’d like to thank all of you commenters for your wonderful words of support and encouragement. You make recapping rewarding – it’s such a delight to know that there’s someone out there actually reading our stuff and that our humble efforts are kindly received.

Friday: Eugenio, asking Paloma to go see Carlota, pleads Do it for me. Paloma says okay, but it’s going to be the last time I ever talk to her. Gabriel offers to go with her, but she says no, it must be something that concerns just the two of them, so she’ll go alone. Where are the bassos when we need them? Carlota is sitting in front of the mirror with her scarf thingy on (will we ever find out what’s up with that?) when her phones rings. Eugenio tells her Paloma is coming. Carlota hangs up and smiles. Everything happens just the way I want it to. She fingers her scarf some more.

It’s been 34 weeks, or at least this is the 34th Monday in picturesque but tortured Real del Monte. We’re in the final stretch, so we know justice and true love will prevail over evil this week, and we can’t wait to see exactly how it will happen. Let’s find out.

Diana shows up at Rafa’s door. He says he thought Em took care of her situation. She said yes, but she just wants a minute, the taxi is waiting. She says she realizes what a good man he is (a bit late, notes Rafa ruefully) and she made a lot of mistakes. If she had the whole thing to do over, she’d do differently. She just wants to say that now she appreciates him.

He says I was never good enough for you, and we get a few flashbacks of her foolish and selfish behavior. She takes his hand and says she never learned to love in the way he did, but she did love him. Perdoname. I thought you would always love me no matter what. I hope you find happiness. Weeping, she pecks him on the cheek and leaves.

Luz is pushing her little girl on a swing in the park when a kid comes up and asks her for 5 pesos to buy some tacos. She says you might give the money to somebody else; I’ll buy them for you. She leaves the Xochi on the swing, and walks the boy away to the taco stand.

Right now, she and Diana are vying for the gold in the Really Bad Judgment event.

She buys the tacos and when she turns back, the swing seat is swaying, empty. Luz starts calling for Xochi.

Gabriel walks Paloma up to Carlota’s door. Paloma is weirded out by the men standing outside – Gabriel doesn’t know who they are. Meantime, Romina arrives at her mother’s house and watches from across the street.

Paloma doesn’t want to go in, but Gabriel says if it weren’t important, Eugenio wouldn’t have insisted.
Carlota, in the lace scarf, goes to answer the door. We see that the furniture has been draped with cloths. (Who owns that many big cloths? Maybe the family inherited a truckload of sheets from dear dead dad?) Thank you for coming, says Carlota. Paloma says I wouldn’t have if Eugenio hadn’t asked me.

Paloma walks in slowly, her eyes switching back and forth, creeped out by the covered furniture. She doesn’t notice Carlota locking the front door. Tell me whatever you want to quickly, says Paloma, because I don’t want to be here.

As Gabriel walks past Romina’s door, she pops out. (Quibble: Romina lives across the street – what is he doing walking down the sidewalk on her side?) Smiling, she says why did you humiliate me the other day? Want to come in? I’m alone. We could have fun. No thanks, says Gabe. Have a nice day.

The nurse pops out the door and tells Romina that the baby needs feeding. Romina says what am I paying you for? Hop to it!

Carlota has taken Paloma by the arm and is slowly walking her up the stairs, saying that Macarena was her mother, but she wishes she had been, and that Paloma would have been her child and Chris’s.

Paloma, very weirded out by the trip up the stairs and Carlota’s comments, pulls her arm away and says I don’t know where you’re going with this, but please just spit it out. Carlota takes her hand and says come, don’t be nervous.

Paloma balks again. Carlota says Don’t worry, I’m not going to hurt you. She takes Paloma’s arm again and leads her further up the stairs.

AHHHHHHH. My bassos! Where have you been? Smoke break?

Gabe runs into Rufi in the park – she’s been to see the police to see if there’s any news about Dr. B. Gabe says he’s fine. Rufi says how do you know? He waves that off. Rufi asks where Paloma is, at the hotel? And Gabe tells her she’s at Carlota’s, Carlota had something to tell her. Rufi is apprehensive. She doesn’t think Paloma should be alone with Carlota, or Chris either.

Carlota has Paloma upstairs now and says Your mother and I talked so much in this room. Paloma is huge-eyed like a kid in a haunted house. She tries to break away again, but Carlota is all persuasive arms. Then she gives Paloma a final shove into her office, closes the door behind her and snarls You’re going to listen to me whether you want to or not.

What are you doing? says Paloma. Carlota says I want you to listen to me up until the last moment, and then we’re going to take a little walk in the house. Carlota thoughtbubbles about pushing Paloma down the stairs.

Carlota says you never appreciated how much I cared for you, you were all about Macarena. Paloma says she was my mother and she always treated me lovingly. Paloma tries to make for the door, but Carlota shoves her to the floor.

If you’d loved me, things would be very different. You’re going to pay! You’re never going to be happy! Paloma says my mother didn’t lie to me. You fell in love with a man who didn’t love you back and now you’re alone and bitter. You hate the whole world.

Maybe you’re right, says Carlota. That’s why I had to get rid of your beloved Inaki. To keep you with me, I had to put a little belladonna in his drink. You did that to keep me here? says Paloma, whose hair has come loose. Yes, says Carlota, though I was sorry to see you so heartbroken about it.

You’re sick, says Paloma, pushing her away. You’re crazy. She runs out of Carlota’s office, Carlota in hot pursuit. Just like Arcadia, Alonso and Dr. Bermudez, says Carlota, confessing everything, which is, as we know, de rigueur for criminals in TV Land who are about to murder somebody.

Dr Bermudez? says Paloma, horrified.

It’s sunny and peaceful outside the house. It’s amazing how in Real del Monte there is never ominous thunder and lightening, or bats flying out of windows. Its walls are always serene, no matter what goes on behind them, its streets charming and leafy, its cafes cheerful.

Don E has arrived and asks the men if Paloma has come out yet. Nope. He says he doesn’t think Carlota will hurt her, but they need to keep their eyes peeled just in case. He’ll wait with them for Paloma to come out.

Rafa has come to the park and Luz is having a meltdown. Rafa figures the little boy wanting tacos was probably a distraction set up by the bad guy so he could take the little girl. He says let’s go to the police. She talks him into going directly to the guy’s home, though he thinks it’s very risky.

Camila is in tears, and Monica is telling her it was hard, but she did the right thing. Camila says it’s not surprising, as Angelica was in love with Orlando all along and valiantly tried to squash her feelings down. I thought I was in love with him, but I wasn’t really and didn’t learn to be. I blew it again.

At this juncture, repentant Diana shows up.

German gets a call telling him that they’re caught – apparently the judge wasn’t as corrupt as they thought. The other guys are going to pin it on German, as he’s their lawyer. German says Hold it! We’re all going down together! Tough luck, says the guy on the other end, you’re on your own.

Rufi, Gabe in tow, has come to get Chris at the church. She tells him that Paloma is alone with Carlota. Chris is scared for her and they all rush off.

Paloma is horrified, crying. You’re totally insane, she says. Carlota shoves her. You’re not going to leave me alone, she says menacingly.

German calls Romina, who tries to blow him off. He says listen to me. I have to leave Real del Monte. Come away with me! We could start a new life, anywhere. Just us and the baby!

What have you gotten yourself into? Says Romina, suspicious. Olvidalo. She hangs up. He says to himself I wanted to do things the right way, but you didn’t want to. He grabs his laptop and leaves the apartment.

Diana says to Camila We were good friends once. I have to leave town because of Samuel. We all will do things we’d never imagine just to feel loved. Camila says I know better than ever what you mean.

Diana says she hopes Rafa will be happy with Luz or whoever. She tells Camila she’s saying goodbye now. She says she hopes Camila will be happy and Camila says she hopes Diana will be too. Diana asks for a hug for old time’s sake. They hug, both sad about their lives.

The baby is crying and Romina goes to his cribside and tells him to knock it off. She wonders why she hired two stupid nurses who can’t even get him to stop crying. She starts throwing things into an overnight bag.

Chris, Rufi and Gabriel come running up to the house. They ask Don E if Paloma is alone in there. He says yes, but he’s sure Carlota won’t harm her. Rufi says she’s nuts! Paloma is in danger!

Inside, Carlota has Paloma by the hair and is holding her right in the spot on the landing that Macarena was pushed from. You were all against me, you were against me, so you deserve to die.

Makes sense to me. I guess I’ve been watching this show too long.

What did you do to my mother? says Paloma, struggling mightily. Carlota says she went against me and even was going to marry Chris. See? This is her engagement ring I have on!

You killed her! No, says Carlota, I just pushed her against the glass. Flashback of Macarena falling through the glass. I got lucky and she died without saying a word about it.

Paloma freaks out and grabs Carlota, gets the upper hand, and shrieks at her while Carlota’s back is arched over the rail. Push her, Paloma! Do it!

But Paloma is too good to push Carlota over the edge, she just flees down the stairs instead. Carlota rushes after her and grabs her by the hair and drags her back up to the landing. Now that Chris knows you’re his daughter, nothing would hurt him worse than your death. I’ll get my revenge.

Paloma runs partway down the stairs and inexplicably stops. She’s screaming. Chris tries to get in the front door.

Big fight on the stairs. Carlota says I’ve hated all your life, from the minute you were born.

Chris kicks down the door. The three rush in and see Paloma and Carlota on the stairs.

Die, says Carlota through clenched teeth, and she goes to give Paloma a shove.

But Paloma squats down on the stairs to duck the push, and oopsies! there goes Carlota over the handrail in slo mo. We linger on each horrified, wide-eyed face. And, finally, we get to see Carlota, out cold on the floor in the same spot her sister lay in a pool of blood. Don E licks his lips nervously, as well he should.

Ad break.

And now Gabe is up on the stairs with hysterical Paloma who says She killed everybody! She killed Inaki, Arcadia, Alonso and my mother! Macarena? Says Chris.

It wasn’t an accident! Says Paloma. She pushed her through the glass because you were going to get married!

It occurs to Rufi to wonder if Carlota is dead. Chris kneels beside her, but says he can’t tell. Repent, Rufi tells her. Repent so God will forgive you.

Luz and Rafi are at the mean guy’s house, but so sign of him or the little girl. Rafi says he’s probably fled Real del Monte. They decide to go to the police.

The paramedics are at Carlota’s house. Carlota is on a stretcher with a neck support. Don E is standing there with his arms folded. Chris gives her a blessing I guess because it’s the Right Thing to Do. Closeup of her eyes, but we can’t tell if she’s conscious or not.

Paloma sobs that Carlota has killed all the people that she loved. Gabe tells her that’s all ended now. Paloma says And she killed Dr Bermudez! Don E says he’s alive. Chris explains that Carlota shot him because he was going to take Paloma away, but Don E whisked him away into Natalia’s care, and had to keep him secreted away for witness protection.

Gabe says So you knew Carlota did that, and yet you asked Paloma to come here to see her? Don E, arms still crossed, says Yes. Sorry. I thought she still had some small spark of goodness in her. I’m an idiot. I was right outside, and I never suspected anything like this was going on. He looks perplexed and annoyed like a person might when surveying the damage from a little fender bender. This is a telenovela – shouldn’t he be agonizing? Weeping? On his knees?

Chris says She probably went after Paloma because she knew nothing would hurt me more. Yes, says Paloma. Chris says if it weren’t for Rufi…..

Rufi says to Paloma All this time we were living with a killer. I sensed something like that, but I just couldn’t believe it.

Chris says I think this is the end of her evil. (He doesn’t know we have 5 days to go.)

Camila and Monica are walking to work, and Camila tells her to take some time today to get flowers for her wedding. Monica leaves and here comes Em who says he’s been trying to get hold of Romina, but she’s not answering her cell. Does Camila know anything? No. She says she wishes he was the real daddy. He says I know.

Meche runs up – Have you heard the gossip? They’re saying Carlota had an accident just like her sister!

Orlando is on the phone with Angie – he tells her he’s not living with Camila any more. She says Did you tell her? He says yes, but it’s more than that, it turns out that she’s still in love with Rafa. We’re just married on paper now. It’s over.

We’re in Pacheca now, outside the police station. Romina comes up with the baby in what looks like a giant picnic basket. She asks a policeman if he can hold the basket for a second while she parks her car. He says But…umm.. okay.

As she walks away, she looks like she’s going to cry, almost stops, then keeps going.

German is driving along and suddenly the police are behind him with their sirens on. He keeps driving, looking frantically in his rear view mirror.

Gabe has brought Paloma back to her hotel room. How are you feeling? he asks. (This is the same stupid question TV reporters ask when they shove a microphone in the face of some person who’s just been through some horrific, life-altering disaster. The person never says How the #&@ do you think I’m feeling? And neither does Paloma the Sainted.) She says What kind of person would kill her own sister, her own niece? Gabe said she couldn’t love you the way you deserved because of what you represented. And here she was running around pretending to be so upright and moral.

Paloma tells him she wants to go to the hospital to find out if she’s dead or alive. She asks him for a hug.

The police are still after German, right on his bumper. One police car blocks his, and the officers stream out, guns drawn. Don’t shoot! he says. They arrest him for extortion.

Diana is about to get on the bus when Inez runs up. Diana explains about what happened and how Inez was right about not signing away her house. Inez wishes she’d been home when it all happened, but Diana says it’s better this way. She has a job waiting for her, and it’s best for her relationship with Emiliano.

Inez says I’m sure Juancho could have found you a job. Diana says this way is the best. You’re the best friend I ever had. They hug and cry.

Anamar has chased Em down at the hotel. She tells him German was trying to call him and is at the police station. German is asking him to come, he’s desperate, he’s asking in the name of the friendship they once had. We see Gabe sit down in a lobby chair to wait for Paloma to take her shower.

Em spots him. Anamar follows his gaze and says He came with Paloma. Em says Paloma is here?

Luz and Rafa have arrived at the police station. They explain to the officer about how they know who it was. He tells them there’s a child exploitation ring, and maybe this will be their undoing.

In her hotel room, Paloma is still weepy, but looks ready to step out. There’s a knock at the door and it’s Em. He says What happened? She throws her arms around him and sobs. (The front desk gave out her room number? Tsk.)

Little Bernardo has been brought by the police to a child shelter. They point out that there were extra diapers and food, and medicine for cystic fibrosis in the basket with the baby.

Now Paloma is sitting on her hotel bed while Em marvels about Carlota being a killer. Obviously she has told him the whole story (Belladonna and Old Lace). Paloma says she remembers when Romina suggested that Carlota had killed Inaki, but she didn’t believe her. Em realizes when Inaki said he had a surprise, it must’ve been about the will. And Paloma realizes that Carlota had messed in Em’s life, but thank goodness she saw to it that he married Romina, or else he would have been dead too.

Em, apparently thinking that she isn’t in a state of shock over being almost murdered, seeing her evil aunt fall to her maybe death, and finding out about all her loved ones having been slain, brings up what to him is the most important lesson of the day. He says Do you realize that nothing stands between us now? Paloma says Let’s not talk about that. Our paths have already diverged. When I felt death so near, I realized I’d made the right decision, to marry Gabriel.

(Is that what she was thinking when Carlota was holding her by the hair, about to toss her over the handrail? “Gosh, you know, marrying Gabe is a good idea! Maybe I’ll go for that white dress after all.”)

Em says he will respect that, even though he wishes their fates had been different. She weeps and anguishes.

Camila comes home and finds Romina sitting on the floor, drinking, with tears streaming down her face. Camila tells her she needs to see to her baby. Romina says maybe he’ll have a better mother, an adoptive one.

Romina says I took him to an orphanage. Camila is impactada and says if you think that will fix his suffering, well, it’s just begun. Camila yells at her, but Romina says I couldn’t take the crying, the illness, the medications. Camila says tell me where he is.

Camila unleashes a torrent of anguish on Romina and says she will adopt him herself. Where is he?

Avances: No avances! I was hoping we’d see Carlota’s eyelids flutter. Well, instead of that here’s a pop quiz. No peeking!

Comments:
Another masterpiece Maggie and with a shout out to Purple Rain, as well. Great lines: vying for the gold in the really bad judgment event. Smoke break? Right Thing to Do. He doesn't know we have 5 days to go. Belladonna and Old Lace.

And those were just a few! You are so clever and funny, you should have an audience of thousands, m'dear. Thanks. Didn't see this one but hope to watch tonight.

Did like it that Diana finally executed a graceful repentance. Atta girl.

Great recap. I LOVE yor reference to Arsenic and Old Lace.

Maggie:
Great recap. I loved tour "going for the gold" reference. Can we say that many of our RDM'ers were lining up for their try for that one tonight?

The minute that Luz walked away I just knew that creepy guy was going to take off with Xochi. Even if they find her, will the social workers give Xochi back to her? And what is it with people in TN's that they don't call the cops right away. Luz should have called them immediately instead calling Rafa running around trying to get Xochi herself. Valuable time lost there. Hope they find her safe and sound.

As for our other little one, that poor Bernardo. Honestly, I was ready to reach through the screen and take him myself. What Romina did, tears or not, it was beyond understanding. She is not poor, she's not ill, there is no hardship for her except she doesn't want to mess up her fun in life. I applaud Camilla for saying she'll adopt the baby, and then she should throw her other "baby" to the curb and tell her to fend for herself. Romeme needs to know what hardship is and fast. Things will not end well for her I fear.

Poor Germy...one most pay for the crime of stupidity, greed and loving the Green Queen.

This whole Diana farewell has really been stretched out. Ok, she's off to get redeemed, we got it through two episodes. Get on the bus already.

Then to the juicy stuff. Was anyone else yelling at their TV's for Pal to just GET DOWN THOSE STAIRS. When she started flying down the final time and then suddenly stopped at the painting half way down I was like WTH?? Who does that? You are running away, ... go down stairs, open door,go out door. But we had to get LaLoca over the railing somehow at that spot.(Letitia pulled out the stops last night!) Of course, she didn't take the full fall through the pretty little glass like Mac, so she will live to wreak havoc another day (or the five we have left).

Eugenio must have felt like a major idiot hearing Pal spill Loca's list of admitted crimes. That should snap him out of whatever Purple Stupor he was in. But I fear that he and/or Gabe will still be the ones to get the brunt of whatever final revenge she seeks. Can't harm any of the main "good guys" at this point. Against TN law. My money is on Gabe taking the final fall, and I have my kleenex boxes stored in the closet for easy access when that happens.

As for Emoon, someone slap that boy. His supposed love of his life has had her world shattered and he starts with the "so sorry, but hey, dumped the wife so we can get together! Great news??" maybe we should call him E-me-me. Poor Pal, this guy is your future. Ugh!

Maggie, we read your recaps, we love your recaps and appreciate you (along with the other recappers') wonderful writing and wry humor. Thanks for everything.

This was indeed a stellar recap. The title? Perfect. Your narrative perfectly described this very eventful episode. I was aghast that Eugenio allowed Paloma to see Carlota when he knew full well what she is capable of. What was he thinking?? As you noted, at least he had the good grace to be chastised: "Don E licks his lips nervously, as well he should." Amen.

As there was no blood oozing from Carlota's head, I fear she is sure to be "resurrected" to do at least one more dastardly deed! I really hate that unless a miracle occurs, Gabriel seems destined to die one way or the other. I hope it doesn't happen at Carlota's hands. If so, I don't think Eugenio would ever be able to forgive himself.

I felt sorry for German. Am I alone? What he did was wrong but I had hoped for a better end for him than jail.

daisynjay, your "Get on the bus already" about Diana had me laughing. As Judy noted though, Diana did leave with dignity and redemption. Bless Inez for being the loyal friend to the end.

Perhaps Camila and Rafa will adopt and raise Bernardo. I can't imagine what's going to happen to Romina...

It's going to be a bumpy week.

Diana

Maggie...awesome recap. I enjoyed every morsel as if it were a piece of fine dark chocolate...terrific.

Of course Leticia was as good as ever BUT it seems she can't act unconscious? I believe all of her insanity and raving but she looked like a child pretending to be sleeping so she can be carried to bed. Oh, well, I guess we all have our weaknesses.

Maggie, Juanita and Diana and Carmen and Arcadia. Are those 2 right??

I have watched almost all the episodes and I'm kind of mortified that I couldn't ID any of the characters you mentioned. Who are they :)

Diana

Favorite character? Inaki.

Diana

Hi everyone! This is my first telenovela. I got hooked watching it while staying with a friend in Santa Fe. Your recaps are WONDERFUL! I'm discovering my Spanish is better than I thought, and when I'm not sure about something, I can go over it here.

Salud a todos y gracias!
Juanita

Thanks, Maggie, for another stupendous recap! I'm really going to miss them, since I'm not going to watch Mi Pecado. But perhaps I'll read the recaps anyway!

I see there's another Juanita here at Caray. Not surprising, but I somehow thought that, except for "Anonymous," each name had to be different. Oh well, perhaps I'll change, if I can figure out how.

Maggie thanks for all your hard work and wonderful recaps.

Daisynjay i'm with you Diana get on that bus already and leave buh-bye.

Luz you're another one why didn't you leave yet either since you kept hinting at it.

German you got what your greedy ambitious self deserved not surprised wonder how long he will get.

RoMeMe not surprised by her actions either, she never wanted the child when she was pregnant. If she wasn't so far along the she would have had a abortion.

Too bad Camila didn't realize how really messed up mentally her daughter is let's hope this makes Camila wake up and get her committed like she needs.

If not RoMeMe will be the second coming of Carloca.

Dumbenio yes i'm calling our resident genius dumb you have not two but four guards outside crazy Carloca's house but you let a defenseless extremely reluctant niece of hers go inside not protected? Unreal.

Thank god Rufi once told where Paloma was told everyone that Paloma can't be near the crazy one by herself.

Cris i'm disappointed in you too, priest or not if my daughter was sent in harm's way like by Paloma was by Eugenio i would have gone apesh!t on him and also i thought his reaction to finding out that Carloca killed the great love of his life Macarena was very subdued. Another WTF moment for me.

Paloma this isn't a horror movie well then again for you maybe it was but you never stop on the stairs for a acknowledge serial killer can throw you overboard.

Leticia Calderon just really brought the crazy last night fine performance, i don't know if she'll like it or not but i can see a great career for her playing a villainess.

It might be typecasting but she was typecasted before as the female sainted lead.

Wow what a episode.

Wow, Maggie. Your recap was a work of art! No time to say more now as I need to go to work!

Regarding Sunday, how do we plan to recap it? I'd be willing to recap the final, or I could do one hour and someone else the other. I would do this in the comments section. CHF gave me the access information when I subbed for Doña Bárbara, but I'm not up for relearning the process to actually put up a recap. And I NEVER could figure out how to post the link to the sidebar no matter how hard I tried!

You are just hilarious, Maggie...starting with the title and throughout the entire recap. Hope you sign on for another tn because your recaps are so much fun and I will miss your ENDO recaps. Thank you.

The final verdict is in and it's unanimous: Eugenio is an IDIOT and he admits it as well. Now Luz can qualify for the title as well for great parenting skills.

Carloca will have to break out of prison to do any harm because she confessed all to Paloma and there were 4 witnesses who saw her try to push Pal over the railing. So her PURPLE RAIN should be over but we know how the police operates in RdM so she may be out in no time.

Did Orly tell Angie that their amorous relationship is at an end? Poor Angie but then she should have known better.

Redemption for Diana but are Romina and Germ candidates and will they end up together?

I think Fina may be Alonso's maid.

GinCA

Oh, my favorite character has to be Inaki....love him and miss him. I am watching out for Luis Hacha in the new Tarzan sequel, Corazon Salvage.

GinCA

Novelera, I always enjoy your comments and snark so I would look forward to your recapping part of the final.

GinCA

Absolutely awesome recap Maggie. Thanks

So I want to know two things: 1) WTF is the scarf, doiley thingy all about? As I recall, this novela began with Carloca fondling it, as she has several times since, and she wore it almost as a religious stole when she set out to kill Paloma. It's very symbolic, but como? 2) Is the bruja going to die, or will we see her permanently looking like crap as a quadraplegic, living her life horribly crippled, ugly, disfigured, and more insane than she already is?

Dona Gringuita

Maggie, muchas gracias por todo - your recaps are delicious, and the answers to the quiz? So are we all on to mi pecado? I noticed the actress who played the blind woman with william Levy is also a character. I have enjoyed watching this novela but seriously I think my family misses me.

thanks agin,
yvonne

Thank YOU, Maggie for your recaps. This one was another hit!Last night's episode had me on the edge of my seat. This is my second TN and all I can say is that I am a big fan of them. I have no one to discuss them with since my friends don't watch TNs but the recaps and comments keep me up to date and give me new insight.

I've seen every episode and cannot answer any of the questions in the pop quiz. All I remember is all the melodrama. LOL

~Caborita

Carloca took Paloma into her bedroom her office/study is downstairs remember she told Paloma she wanted to take her to where she had a lot of conversations with Macarena in her bedroom.

Yeah Eugenio even your own son questioned your intelligence last night.you sent Paloma by herself into a house with a person you know is not working with a full deck of cards. Knowing she tried to kill Dr.B all by herself.

Unbelievable stupidity on his part Cris should have strangled him.

Let's hope we find out what the doily lace scarf means to her craziness since she always takes it out when she has killed or on the verge of killing.

I've been following this novela since the beginning and greatly appreciate everyone's recaps. I was so busy this fall I had to give up watching and could only follow the plot through recaps. Gracias!

Anyway, I was glued to the TV last night. During the scuffle, I was begging Paloma to at least get a punch in but I suppose the set-up for Carlota's poetic justice was better than a right hook to the face.

Romina is going to have to become Mother Teresa and start performing miracles in the street to be fully redeemed. Something big is going to have to happen to change her. Though, I like that I can't predict how it will happen.

The mystery lace is an enigma for sure. Hopefully we get a reason for its importance.

Maggie, thank you for your great work on the recaps. I love your style and humor. Muchas, muchas gracias.

I completely failed the pop quiz. I only know that Diana kept abusing Juanita.

And my favorite characters were Camilla, Macarena, Rufi and Rodolfo in random order.

All I could think is WTH was the Paloma Protective Society thinking letting her go into that house alone. God only knows what would have happened if Rufi hadn't had a flash of brain activity and run to Cris with her fears. Meanwhile back at the big house Don E the Idiot is taking in the sun chilling with the guards. Then the trio of rescuers arrive but of course Rufi doesn't[ have a key to the house, the big guards stand around and the priest has to kick in the door. Idiots one and all.

Very weird how Carloca had covered all the furniture and picture in the house. Lots of people do that if they are locking up the house for an extended period so was she planning to off Paloma and slink out of town somehow?

I too thought it odd that Em showed up in Paloma's room but it is possible that Gabe gave him her room number or maybe snoopy Anamar. Once again I though Paloma's protectors let the ball down. This girl has just gone through a horrifying near death experience plus the revelation that her aunt killed her mother, novio and a few others and they all let her go back to her room alone. Maybe she didn't want them with her but someone should have stayed with her to offer comfort and support can you hear me Rufi? I guess Cris had to rush off to the hospital to see that the Witch Who Ruins People's Lives is well and truly on the road to hell.

Look like Gabe got a reprieve but I can't help wondering how The Purple One will find a way to kill him or anyone else because frankly anyone who goes within ten feet of her while she still breathes is a certifiable idiot.

Romena dumping the baby - big surprise not, but at least she thought to include his meds. Poor Germs certainly got involved with the wrong crowd awfully fast and now he is caught. Looks like a set up to me.

Diana good bye and good riddance.

Luz now goes to the top of the idiots list for leaving the child out of her eyesight. Than again she did do it once before so maybe she is a slow learner.

Maggie, a brilliant recap from start to finish. Love your calling out the bassos when they're falling asleep on the job.

Paloma totally wasn't listening to all my coaching but I guess her way, La Loca ended up going over the rail so it all worked out. When they were up at the top and Cruel was trying to push Paloma, she was only grabbing the top of the railing. No! Grab the bars below; you can get a better grip and it will be harder for her to flip you over the top! Then, on the stairs...if you can't get away, just get down as low as you can! You can definitely survive a fall down the stairs with no more than bruises, but it helps if you aren't standing up straight to begin with.

Emiliano, you are such a tool. Way to give your beloved three seconds to recover from a more massive shock than most people receive in their entire lives combined before pushing your own agenda.

Okay, quiz questions:

I don't remember most of this and I've seen every episode!

Arcadia was Carmen's maid.
Juanita was Diana's.
Fina is Camila's.
Therefore by elimination Lupita must have been Alonso's.

Vero was Orlando's previous secretary who left due to a difficult pregnancy. She's also married to Nestor the lawyer.

I don't remember any of the others.

My favorite character is Iñaki, obvi!

Was Pablo Lara Rafael's former business partner?

Wow, what an episode!

Leticia was on fire. After all those mi amor fake affection moments, alternated with angry rants, it was good to see the cards on the table. "I hate you; I've always hated you."

I'm not sure about this, but I thought she said that Macarena had the nerve to wear HER engagement ring. I thought while watching it that she was crazy enough to think Cris really bought the ring for her and Macarena wheedled it out of Cris and got it instead.

I would like to have seen Paloma fight back more. All she really did was try to get away from her. But I guess that's supposed to be her character - not a fighter.

I thought Camila's response to Romina's giving away her grandchild was way too tame. She still tries to reason with an actually pathologically selfish person. When Romina was packing, I thought she'd leave town or was going to hook up with German, leaving the baby with the nurse. It would have been great to see the end of her! But what she did was worse. I was stunned to see her back home as if what she did was perfectly all right.

Maggie, thanks so much for all your wonderful recaps. I won't be watching Mi Pecado but I hope to be able to catch your and Julia's recaps--you two are so funny!

I found it interesting that after all his moping about Em told Paloma that he accepts her decision. Now will he abide by it. In my all time favorite novela the Em type character actually did say good bye and walk away from the Paloma type in the next to last episode. The Gabe type realized that the girl truly loved the other man and made some arrangements so that when the girl walked down the aisle to marry him the grooms had been switched and the right man got the girl. Wonder if this one is wandering in that direction.

I also wonder what is the point of the whole German being so corrupt all of a sudden. I did find it touching when he once again begged Miss Useless to come with him and they could be together with their baby. And then finally saying he had tried to do the right thing.

Mother Theresa indeed! I can not see how Romena can be redeemed in 6 hours. It would be more like 60 years. And sadly once again, by her rather tepid response Camila continues to enable her. Had it been me I would have grabbed her by the hair and frog marched her out to find the baby. That failing I would have marched her to the police and denounced her for abandoning my grandchild.

Another great recap, Maggie.

I couldn't match any of the maids, but I really liked German and hoped for a better end for him.

I hope we find out what's the attraction Carloca has with that lace thing she wears when she's planning some evil deed.

I'm wondering if Carloca is not badly hurt and will escape from the hospital and complete some evil deed, like maybe hurting Paloma or perhaps finishing off Gabe.

As for Eugenio I did not ever in my wildest dreams think he would allow Pal to go to Carloca's house alone knowing all he knew about her. Since he left two men watching her, I thought he would protect Pal. He stood around like a lump on a log while Cris broke the door down.

But Carloca days are numbered according to the way TN's end.

At this point, I would not have tried to get Romina to take responsibility for the baby any longer, if I were Camila. She clearly has absolutely no maternal feelings, and having her around will only be bad for the baby, in my opinion. She still should have given her an elephant's earful about her horrid behavior, but then stopped enabling her and gotten custody of the baby and kept Romina away.

I don't know how Romina can be made to suffer, aside from being alone. Could she lose her inherited money somehow and have to work? Have a disfiguring accident?

Thank you one and all!

Here are the quiz answers, but first I gotta say Julia, you have an amazing memory. I am a slave to my character list.

Camila – Fina
Diana – Juanita
Carmen – Arcadia
Alonso – Lupita

Licha is the girl who sniffed the paint thinner
Sajavi is the water-logged Yorki
Vero is the secretary who took medical leave from Orlando’s office. And yes, she’s the wife of Nestor, the lawyer
Pablo Lara is the one-time business partner of Rafa
Pedro is the handyman at the church

Casa de E de los M’s house number is 54. We often see it onscreen, but we don’t know the street name. I’m betting if we went to Real del Monte, we’d be able to buy a tourist map to ENDA locations.

My favorite character is Rufi.

Other opinions: best-written characters go to Orlando and Padre M. Orlando is much more shaded than other telenovela characters, who tend to be just black and white. And Padre M would be a clown if written by other hands, but instead he is endearingly human.

Best actor to Carlota, who hit it out of the park. All other performances I thought were stellar, except those of Natalia and Emiliano, who just didn’t seem to be able to keep up with the others.

Julia all i can say about Emoon like father like Orlando's son, it's like nothing he learn or was raised by Rafael has rubbed off on him one bit.

German has always been corrupt from the get go he was always making shady deals even when he was working for Orlando.

If you go back to the trip he took with RoMeMe he was making a shady deal at that time too. He got what he deserved let's hope that our queen of jealous envy gets hers now.

Ann i wanted to bash Eugenio head together with one his guards he was standing outside with and they are all still standing there looking quite dumb together when Rufi,Gabriel and Cris come up and ask him if he let Paloma inside the house of gloom while the ggood padre breaks down the door himself.

Boy you can't make up stupid like that now can you.

The only good thing that came out of all of it was Carloca revealed how many people she actually killed or tried too.

My question is lets say she succeeded or thought she succeeded in killing off Paloma what was she going to do next gunned down all of those guards outside her house.

Maybe she could have climbed out the window from her study but it looked like she really didn't have any escape plans.

The weird thing is, she went to the trouble of putting dust covers on the furniture. So, she was planning to leave, but thought she would someday come back? If she did actually turn herself in (can't imagine her doing that, myself), how long does she think she'd be in jail for? A couple months? And if she went on the lam, how could she ever return?

I know it's pointless to try to figure out the logic of a total nutcase, but I really wonder what she planned to do after killing Paloma.

Julia you and i are thinking along the same lines when i saw everything covered up the furniture and pictures i was like WTF when did this nutcase have time to do all of that.

I was trying to figure out how in the world was she getting out of that house sight unseen unless she was going to do another purple ninja move and scale the side of the house in the back and run off.

Like you said she ain't working with a full deck so i guess we'll just go along with it.

Cris should have brought some holy water to sprinkle on her now that would have been priceless.

As for Rufi asking her to repent she should repent her own self since she had a inkling she had at least told everyone when they were meeting about Paloma's will what she suspected instead of keeping her mouth shut.

Even her boyfriend the mariachi warned her about going back to live with someone that dangerous.

HELP! my comcast cable has been out and I have been missing episodes. Is there any websites besides youtube where I can watch complete past episodes?

thanks!

I agree that Loca pushed Pal into Loca's bedroom because Pal actually bounced off the end of the bed onto the floor. The bedspread looked like the one in Loca's room. I was afraid she might have a change of plans and reach for her gun and shoot Pal. But Loca wanted to recreate what she had fantasized and could say somehow it was an accident that Pal fell down the staircase of doom.

Wow - action packed episode, and HEAVY, too. Thanks for the recap and all comments. I'm so busy right now don't have much time, but of course can't miss ENDA now nomatter what!

For me favorites are PJC, Gabe (maybe because I missed Inaki), Rufi. I liked German too and hoped he would come out better. ITA on the comment about Orly. Also liked Ange and the other 2 padres.

Elle here's a site where you can watch the full episodes uninterrupted by downloading it by pieces of scenes like on youtube.

You get the full version minus commercial breaks enjoy. You have all of the 171 episodes on this site.

Thanks for a great recap Maggie. Yep, EugeniusNOT let us down. Not sure why Rufi and Gabe had to go to PJC, seems like they could have just walked back and talked to the guards. Why did PJC end up having to break open the door. Something your big guards should have done. Guards should have broke down the door and came in with guns drawn. :)
At least Rufi had the smarts to know it was not a good idea having Paloma talk to Carlota. Gabe just bowed to his dad's wisdom.

I wanted Diana gone, but I did like her going to everyone and making up with them. Good job on her part. Now scram!! :)

Who didn't seem Xochi disappearing. Once Luz turned her back, you knew she was gone. Don't they know where abuser lives? Luz followed him there that one time. I'd say head over there and see if Xochi is there.

I was just waiting for Pal to fight back a little more. She did do good a few times, but needed to do more. She's getting to be a big girl. She could probably take down the purpleness. Turn her into grape juice.

Jeff, they did go to the abuser's house. No one was there.

I like your suggestion to turn the Purple One into grape juice. I don't know why Paloma couldn't overpower her. Carlota never does anything, so how strong could she be? Paloma never does anything either, but she's young, and we know she can outrun Emiliano even in a heavy dress and high-heeled shoes, and she can climb up onto the balcony.

Ah, Julia thanks. So they did. I'm just snoozing too much in the show and in the recap when Luz and Rafa come on. :(

Now at the child shelter.. If they want to find out who the parents are, they could go to hospital and find out if they had any children born recently with cystic fibrosis. They can probably find out easily if they want. Mabye Rom and Cam will be the ones to show up first. I just don't think have any redemption for RoMEE now. Definitely not deserved. If Germy stays in jail and Emil and Pal get hitched, seems like they may end up with Bernardo.

Gabe keeps teasing us with spells of some kind of other. I don't know if he'll even make it long enough to be a victim of LaLoca.

Emoon was a tool, but at least he seemed to give up at the end.. maybe. Wait until he finds out Gabe is dying, at least I don't think he knows that. Probably get after Pal again and wonder how she can marry a dying man.

Julia and Jeff i was thinking the same about Paloma why isn't she able to overcome Carloca. Then i remembered we aren't dealing with a stable personality here. I recall several shows when dealing with a personality like Carloca talking about how strong they are.

So i will give Paloma a break on that, what i won't give her break on is knowing how unstable Carloca is and what a liar she is here is what she should have done going to see Carloca for the last time.

1. never go up a stairway like that and especially where there's a second level where supposedly your mother fell from with a obvious crazy person.

2. tell your crazy say what they have to say on the first floor or you will leave.

3. don't allow the said crazy person to stand near the door to block you from leaving and don't turn your back on them closing the door and locking it.

4. just stand by the door keeping it open at all times and the person you are dealing with completely in your sight.

5. if this crazy person insist on doing anything different from what will make you secure and comfortable in their presence hightail it out of there. If not you will become this person's next victim.
