Corazon Salvaje, Tuesday, April 27: Ep 48--We need a little less talk and a lot more action!
Especially from Mr. I-Juan-Revenge!
Reggie and Juan have words in the hallway. Reggie knows he just wants to be near Aimee. Juan realizes that Reggie has a thing for Renato--who always gets everything that should belong to Juan, including Aimee. Reggie wants to have a nice chat, but Juan says it's Aimee who has to explain to him why she married another man. Reggie suggests he talk to her and then get lost. She challenges him to tell her whether Renato has ever done anything bad to him. Juan has to admit that he hasn't. Reggie reminds him that none of this is Ren's fault. Juan twitches a cheek muscle in response.
Frenchy and Jimena agree to team up to write a letter to Gabe. Jimena sees the basket of goodies for grandma, I mean, Rosenda. She offers to hand over the basket without anyone else seeing. She and Frenchie get to work. Jime wants a particularly romantic letter…"Beloved Gabriel…."
Leo and Noel argue about Ren hiring Juan. Leo is agin' it. Noel tells her he saw her kissing Rod.
Rod and Reggie argue about Reggie staying. Reggie suggests she stay to keep an eye on Aimee and just visit Rod in town. Reggie begs him, saying Aimee really needs her.
Juan and Renato start talking about Juan's job. Renato's horse likes to kick its legs out to the side while it walks. It's very distracting. Oh, yes, the hot men are talking, let me rewind…Renato says they've got to get rid of Arcadio. He's been there for years and he's very cruel, but Leo keeps defending him. Reggie has been Renato's only friend. In fact, he thought of her as the ideal woman once. She's always been a very sweet woman, but now she's harder and more serious. But he ended up falling in love with Aimee. Renato says he's happy and wants his workers to be happy and to see Aimee as the reason for their good fortune--since it's thanks to her that he's feeling so generous.
Aimee is ticked off that Juan will be working at the finca. Although, if he's there, that means he couldn't forget her. The ego on that girl.
Renato has noticed that Juan's thoughts are elsewhere. He wonders if Juan has a love, too, but he also supposes…Juan interrupts him and says he'd rather not speak her name.
Rosenda sees Rod getting ready to leave.
Leo comes running downstairs, all in a dither, with Noel hot on her heels.
Rosenda asks Rod if he's leaving her to her fate. He says he was planning to send for her as soon as possible. He asks her to visit him at the house whenever she's in town. He gives her some coins and asks her to take care of herself. The carriage drives away.
Leo swears she just gave him a kiss on the cheek, that's all. Noel says he's not trying to make her look bad in front of Ren, he just wants her to tell the truth. He knows about her feelings for Rod, which Rod doesn't return. Leo just wants him to leave her alone. She wishes he were gone instead of Rod. She hints it's never too late to correct old mistakes, but Noel says there's no fixing her mistakes. He leaves and she says she'd really like to get rid of him.
Jimena and Rosenda run into each other in town. Jimena gives Rosie the basket of gifts, from someone who loves her a lot, but she won't say who. Rosenda snottily takes the basket and tells Jimena to get lost. Jimena kind of laughs at her snottiness and says she's going to visit friends and doesn't need Rosie's permission to do it. Rosie starts opening up her presents.
Fed has come to visit Regina. She had already agreed to let Fed come to visit, so she's not going to go back on it. Fed kisses Reggie on the hand just as Juan and Renato come in. Ren doesn't think Juan likes seeing Fed with Reggie. Ren introduces Juan as his new administrator. Fed leaves like they've got the plague, although Juan says they're not contagious. Ren goes to see Aimee, leaving Juan and Regina alone. Juan ribs Regina about always having "God" on her lips, although He has nothing to do with any of this. Juan tells her that Ren is happy as a clam to have married the most wonderful woman in the world. Reggie begs him to leave. She tells him they'll all suffer if he stays. She asks him to please understand and forgive. Juan says he won't forgive. He was prepared to do anything for her, but she betrayed him.
Leo has moved on to blaming Renato for bringing Juan to the finca. Clemencia comes in to see if Leo needs anything. Leo dismisses her, but then asks for the name of the new administrator. Clem says he's Juan Sanroman.
Aimee is in her room crying. She tells Renato she's ashamed because she thought bad about Regina. She knows Reggie is nuts, but she loves her. Ren tells her to calm down. Aimee is just soooo upset about Regina's relationship with that man. Renato says they have no proof, although, he did see Juan's reaction to Reggie's hand being kissed by Fed. Aimee ain't happy to hear that!
Reggie begs for pity, but who had any for Juan. Juan tells her to lay off the whining. He's not like Renato. He's the complete opposite and he hates everyone! Including Reggie. So he wants her to get it into her head that he hasn't given up on vengeance.
Leo is upset to hear the name, but Clem tells her he has nothing to do with the one she's thinking of. Leo thinks they're awfully alike, though. Clem says it's just the name, Leo only saw the previous Juan the one time and he was not in the best condition, they're nothing alike.

Renato asks her what she has against Juan. Aimee says he doesn't know how to work on land, he's a seafaring man. Renato gets suspicious since he never told her that, so how would she know? Aimee says she heard it from Juan, when they were on the boat. Whatever. Renato's sure that Juan will do good work for them. Renato is still suspicious about her attitude. Clemencia comes in to summon Renato on behalf of mommy. Renato wants Clem to stay with Aimee, but she says she just wants a nap. Clemencia gives Aimee quite the curled lip before she leaves. Aimee has a heaving bosoms moment over Juan and decides to go find him.

Leo tells Arcadio that Juan has been hired as administrator. Renato and Arcadio get into a shouting match. Arcadio finally says he'll leave, but he has a few things to say first. Leo shuts him up, but Renato wants to know what he has to say. Leo tells him to leave while she talks to her son and she'll talk to him later. Arcadio agrees. Leo tells Renato that Arcadio has been excessive, but only because he's trying to do his job well. Leo tells Renato that he needs someone running the place who really knows it, and also that she really has a high opinion of Arcadio and doesn't want him to leave.
Juan hangs out in the love cave, heaving his man-bosoms over Aimee. She comes running in. She tells him to kill her. Yes, please! Yeah, that's so not going to happen. Too bad.
Leo tells Renato that Arcadio needs the job because of his crazy wife who lost her mind when she lost her child. She says Arcadio has been caring for her since then. Renato can't believe it. Leo begs him not to leave Arcadio without a job, but also to be discreet and not let on that Leo has told him Arcadio's secret. Ren doesn't know what to think.
Clemencia comes into the kitchen with towels. Jimena comes running in, wanting to see Regina. She helps herself to some cheese. Clem says she's glad Jimena is there, maybe she can distract Regina. The other maid thinks Jimena looks like a good girl. She's never known a gypsy before, but this girl has a good vibe. Clem goes to see how Aimee is doing.
Renato says he won't fire him, but he has to behave himself. One more bout of abusive behavior and he's outta there.
Reggie runs around looking for Aimee. Oh, bows on the butt. That's so 80's. She can't find Aimee and supposes she went off in search of sex. I mean, Juan. Reggie needs to find her before Renato finds out the truth…walk a little slower, Reggie!
Juan won't kill her, she belongs to another. He thinks it BS that she's not happy being married to Renato. She kisses him. Juan isn't going to betray a man who's been good to him. He wants Aimee to get away from him. He's crazy jealous, but not enough that he doesn't realize that Renato truly loves Aimee. She's lucky to have him, so what more does she want? Aimee wants him, but he says he's not up for grabs. She tells him he only took the job to get close to her. Juan says that's right--so he could kill her! But she owes her life to Regina now, because Regina convinced him not to kill her.
Jimena desperately needs to talk to Reggie, but she wants to go find Aimee. Jimena begs and begs, so they sit down and talk. Jimena explains that she lied to Gabe about Estrella being sick, because she's sooo in love with him and she's sure he would never love a gypsy like her.
Aimee is tired of being blamed. If Juan blames her, then he needs to kill her. Juan won't. Renato thinks he married an angel, but Aimee is just a ho. Juan doesn't care if Aimee tells everybody what happened between them. If Renato does come after him, then he'll fight him.
Gabe is waiting to see Estrella again, but Juan told her to tell the truth. She met Juan on the boat. Regina seems jealous that Jimena also gets love advice from Juan. Juan has told her that deception is the same as cheating. Reggie agrees that Jimena shouldn't keep deceiving him. Reggie says she really needs to go before some irreparable damage happens. Jimena says to herself that she shouldn't give Gabe the latest letter.
Aimee and Juan keep arguing. He chokes her, but then lets her go. She still think her hotness gives her power over him, but Juan keeps pushing her away. Aimee cries that she's having a hard time getting over him, so she knows he's having a hard time getting over her. Juan tells her to just shut up already and quit lying. "If you really loved me…." Aimee tells him she only married Renato because Juan said she was his enemy, so she did it out of spite. Juan doesn't want to hear it. He grew up in a world of lies, so he knows one when he sees one. She had him blinded for a while, but now he knows the truth. She tries to threaten him with committing suicide, but he doesn't believe she'd hurt herself. He says that if she stayed with him it would be so he can drive her crazy, hurting her night and day, until her life turned into a living hell and she'd paid him back for everything. He leaves and she cries on the floor of the love/hate cave. Aimee cries that she's dying, dying, oh, the horrors!
Rosenda comes home and flaunts her presents in front of the other maid. She also flaunts the coins, and the other maid says she's a thief just like her mother. Rosie says that Rod gave her the money before he left. She flounces out and Clem comes in. The other maid thinks Rosie will end up pregnant soon ("she'll give us a little surprise").
The hos are worried about Madame. They don't like the way Rosenda treated her. Madame says Rosenda has every right to look down on her. She tells them that she sees them as daughters and trusts them, but what's happening is that Rosenda is her daughter, the one she abandoned when she was a girl. The hos look concerned and the brunette feels faint and has to sit down. She just felt dizzy all of a sudden. Madame sends Brigitte running for the doctor and Fifi goes to get water.
Juan sees Reggie in the garden looking for Aimee. He's confused that Aimee isn't with her husband. He tries to joke with her about no "bad" being able to come from Santa Regina. In all their banter, she trips and he grabs her around the middle to keep her from falling. He finally lets her go and she ends up falling. Instead of taking his hand to help her up, she yanks him onto the ground with her. She tells him to quit his joking--she's not like the other women he knows! He agrees, she's very different and that's what he admires about her. He keeps laughing and it bugs her. She finally lets him help her up, bringing her lips within kissing distance. Don't get your hopes up though, it's so not gonna happen.
Tomorrow: Gabe and Jimena keep being stupid; Juan and Reggie make googly eyes at each other.

What a snoozefest. If I ever have the misfortune of being on the writing staff of a show like this, I'm going to bean people over the head when they use more than three of the same words together more than once per episode. Enough of all this talk-talk-talk and saying nothing!
In RL news, I am now in rehearsals for Manzi (a play with music based on the early life of Cesar Chavez) at Teatro Bravo. We open the last weekend of May. There will be no smartassery on my part, but I will be playing the guitar, singing, and I'll be the mean teacher for one scene. Good times.

Okay. I have to admit, I loved all the nonsense surrounding Rod's departure - Leo running down the stairs like a weepy teenager was just too much! I shouldn't laugh, but -
Nah. I totally should.
So, Juan took a liking to Reggie on the ship and held on to it long enough to tell her about it - but a day later, she's suddenly on his naughty list with everyone else, and by the end of the show, she's not again? Did he have a temporary lapse of Montes de Amneessiiaa? If only he hadn't! He'd've been raving at Reggie a half-hour sooner, she'd never have had a chance to plead on her sister's behalf, and we'd be finding out if Aimee's blood can match her hair for scarlet-letter intensity. (I like how she thinks a threat of killing herself is going to do much against a man who, you know, would really kind of like to see her dead himself...)
Nice job putting off the firing with that story, Leonarda - and she probably doesn't even realize how good it was. But now if Renato goes nosing around for tidbits regarding Arcadio's Crazy Wife, Remi's already going to have heard that same story (or close enough) from the Orca himself.

You know, I've been wondering how they were going to work around - or with - the actress' pregnancy once she got further along, because she's not going to be able to hide behind plants and big baskets of bribes forever (particularly with Rosenda being such a flouncy, sexual character). That sure would be a convenient solution, wouldn't it? And a good reason to have had her in bed with Rod at least once.
And yet Lulu, the ho who's probably having the least sex ever, is the one falling over at the slightest suggestion of shocking news? I'd wonder if they weren't setting it up for Lulu to end up with the good Doctorcito with him having to be fetched in for her like that, if Jimena's prediction hadn't sounded so much like it was pointing to Noel.

(I like how she thinks a threat of killing herself is going to do much against a man who, you know, would really kind of like to see her dead himself...)
Nice job putting off the firing with that story, Leonarda - and she probably doesn't even realize how good it was. But now if Renato goes nosing around for tidbits regarding Arcadio's Crazy Wife, Remi's already going to have heard that same story (or close enough) from the Orca himself.

You know, I've been wondering how they were going to work around - or with - the actress' pregnancy once she got further along, because she's not going to be able to hide behind plants and big baskets of bribes forever (particularly with Rosenda being such a flouncy, sexual character). That sure would be a convenient solution, wouldn't it? And a good reason to have had her in bed with Rod at least once.
And yet Lulu, the ho who's probably having the least sex ever, is the one falling over at the slightest suggestion of shocking news? I'd wonder if they weren't setting it up for Lulu to end up with the good Doctorcito with him having to be fetched in for her like that, if Jimena's prediction hadn't sounded so much like it was pointing to Noel.

By the way, Aribeth, I read your post about recapping, and trust me, your English is very good. I spend my days listening to people learning to speak English and my evenings correcting their paragraphs. Your grammar and sentence structure is good. May I ask how long you studied English and where you studied ? Well, I watched the taped CS episode from Monday last night before Dancing with the Stars. In a way it was cool because I could fastforward the commercials and Jimena/Gabe. Did anyone recognize her grandparents? I think the guy was a lawyer on Destilando Amor and the actress was on Tontas and Heridas de Amor. I must run to work to give a test on modal auxilliaries today.

Rosenda thought she was upset about Renato: Mad Marley, I think that's a good idea about the pregnancy of the actress dovetailing with the character. Rosenda has some mother-child crow to eat before she and Marlene reunite.
Noel is being his usual cool, logical self regarding Leonarda's behavior; IMO he's heading toward an amicable divorce -- in time to marry the pregnant Lulu and make an honest woman of her. It's just like Noel; he's a do-gooder.
But as Jimena said, it will take a while for Noel to come around and accept Lulu. Just speculation. Leonarda's escape down the staircase was so hilarious! Who knew the old girl could move that fast! I couldn't.
Aimee planted that idea of Juan and Regina as a couple, so Renato is still focused on that, thanks to her. I felt sure that was what he meant when he asked Juan about his love life -- and Juan wouldn't tell him the woman's name. Especially after explaining how changed Regina has become.
That red herring is going to last a while and become a self-fulfilling prophecy. And it sure didn't take long for Juan to scare Federico off, considering how much Federico wants Regina's money. He just evaporated at the sight of Juan.
I like how in this episode Juan allows Regina to teach him a few things. I think maybe Regina cured him of teasing her with sainthood, and she also hammered it home that Renato is innocent. He said himself talking to Aimee that Regina saved her life. She's influencing him already. So far so good.
I enjoyed the scene with Juan and Aimee in the cave very much; they cleared the air. Both actors did well. But those two are history, and I'm looking forward to new love for Juan and Regina. Less pain and more happiness; a relief and safe harbor for both of them.
Jimena's father is Ana-Patricia Rojo's dad in real life -- Gustavo Rojo, a veteran actor. Ana-Patricia Rojo played the sister character (Sofía) of EY's "Rodrigo" in Destilando Amor.
OT: mad bess, I put my potted snake plant outside a couple weeks ago, and I'm wondering if there'll be a bunch of leaves to trim off after this morning.

you know, at first, I didn't like Juan because he was so out there, but I kinda like his indecisiveness (though it is annoying for the plot) in whether to get revenge or not. He reminds me of Hamlet.

I actually stayed up last night to watch and am glad I did. Seeing Juan and Regina together was very interesting. She has smarts and spunk and it's not all about HER. Juan is certainly noticing that she looks like Aimee, but is actually a nice person.
In comparison, Juan has realized that Aimee is not who he thought she was. I could see the struggle in his face - he wanted her so bad, but he was mentally comparing her to what he already knew about the Montes de Oca's (selfish, holier than thou, and extremely arrogant). The manipulation thing has obviously hit him pretty strong.
I thought, when he was talking to Regina, that he admitted that Renato was a good person, and that he was indebted to him. Regina knows how to press a point and she seems to be able to breakthrough to Juan whereas he blows his other buds off. I'm like Jeri and can see the influence she is starting to have on him.
I loved it when Juan and Feddy met, and Feddy when scurrying off, not the way he started but backed up and went around, rather than to pass Juan!

I've been recording it and turning it on at 5 to watch while I'm still in bed. What better way to wake up--Juan first thing in the morning--as long as he's not screaming A i m e e. I'm going to recap from youtube because I can't stay up that late either.
Loved the recap Kat. The story is picking up just when Uni decides to move the show to the midnight hour. Does anyone know if this is a permanent move? It's an inconvenience having to stay up til one to watch the show. I love the chemistry between Juan and Regina so I'm sticking with this show even if I have to keep my eyes pried open.

You are right Ibarramedia. That's been driving me crazy. I couldn't figure out where I'd seen her before. Been watching the youtube videos at lunch. Not too bad really. It seems a little jumpy at parts but that might just be the editing.

I think Juanito's jealous of Renato's life, despite the fact that he (Juan) has the luckiest ass in the world, he was adopted by a nice and shamelessly rich man and recieved a good education in Europe. Nevermind.
On the other hand, Renato lives in a fantasy world. He owns Paradise (literally), he's the good landlord, the folks love and respect him, Mommy and Daddy adore him and he's married to the most beautiful and loving woman on Earth. Too much perfection for a mere mortal.

That front leg motion, called termino, is a signature of the Peruvian breed. They are very smooth to ride. I have several of them and they are wonderful horses. However... I say I'm not sure because Renato's horse doesn't seem to gait like a Peruvian. I'm thinking it may be an Andalusian - which is where the front action originated, the Peruvian came from Spanish stock (of course!). The Peruvians liked the unique front end motion and bred for it, the Spaniards started breeding it out. But you'll still see some Andalusians that have it. For those who may be interested here's a video of a Peruvian Horse drill team from Canada that shows the front leg motion:

Huge linguistic and offtopic
I've been learning English since I was 9 or 10, but in the first years my teachers weren't very good. When I was 15 I started to improve my English on my own and fell in love with this language. Ten years ago I passed an official language exam and therefore I didn't have to visit English lessons in high school anymore. :-) But since then I didn't engage in grammar much, and I feel its disadvantages, the phrasal verbs, the different prepositions and tenses drive me mad. :-) I read books often and visit English websites every day, I watch movies and series, I play great text-oriented role-playing games, I don't have any problem with talking, but before youtube and caray I never dared to write too much in English because grammar issues flummoxed me. Btw, I know I overreact this issue. English is the new Latin or French, a bridge between different cultures, the most popular world language, it has hundreds of variations. Native speakers all accomodated to the mutations, and understanding, the exchange of thoughts are more important than perfect grammar and form.
A little socio-cultural background: only 14-15 million people speak my language, there aren't many foreign folks who desperately want to learn it (it's a very difficult one), and therefore we got used to the fact that everyone speaks it well. If someone has bad grammar or spelling that means low education, intelligence or dyslexia (in the best case) for us. Thereupon many of us who speak our own language well want to be just as good when using a foreign language. At first. But when we start to talk with native English speakers we realize that no one gives a damn about our little mental disease and understand what we say (most of the time), and it's like breathing fresh air. :-)
I think writing to forums and watching movies are the best ways to improve one's language skills. My Spanish started to progress quickly after I found out how to download telenovelas. :-) I know many recappers learned Spanish during recapping.
And now I shut the frak up, it's enough of "me, me and me". :-)

Ten years ago I passed an official language exam and therefore I didn't have to visit English lessons in high school anymore. :-) But since then I didn't engage in grammar much, and I feel its disadvantages, the phrasal verbs, the different prepositions and tenses drive me mad. :-) I read books often and visit English websites every day, I watch movies and series, I play great text-oriented role-playing games, I don't have any problem with talking, but before youtube and caray I never dared to write too much in English because grammar issues flummoxed me. Btw, I know I overreact this issue. English is the new Latin or French, a bridge between different cultures, the most popular world language, it has hundreds of variations. Native speakers all accomodated to the mutations, and understanding, the exchange of thoughts are more important than perfect grammar and form.
A little socio-cultural background: only 14-15 million people speak my language, there aren't many foreign folks who desperately want to learn it (it's a very difficult one), and therefore we got used to the fact that everyone speaks it well. If someone has bad grammar or spelling that means low education, intelligence or dyslexia (in the best case) for us. Thereupon many of us who speak our own language well want to be just as good when using a foreign language. At first. But when we start to talk with native English speakers we realize that no one gives a damn about our little mental disease and understand what we say (most of the time), and it's like breathing fresh air. :-)
I think writing to forums and watching movies are the best ways to improve one's language skills. My Spanish started to progress quickly after I found out how to download telenovelas. :-) I know many recappers learned Spanish during recapping.
And now I shut the frak up, it's enough of "me, me and me". :-)
I know we've talked about the Powers That Be checking out the website but what if we submitted some kind of petition with names and whatever. Any ideas?
Kat, you're amazing! I managed to stay awake for last night's episode, but when my alarm went off this morning and I staggered in to put on the kettle, your fabulous recap was already up. I don't know if I'll be able to keep up this schedule. I'm feeling sleep deprived already and it's not even supper time yet. You get points for making more of the episode than it had to offer. Looks as though lots of hardy souls are in it for the long haul one way or another. I don't have a recording setup, so it's midnight or not at all. But the comments are fabulously entertaining. OffTopic to Aribeth: Isn't it true that Hungarian is not an Indo-European language and shares the same linguistic roots as Finnish? I'm guessing that would make it a difficult language to learn; not just something you could pick up (which is what I'm attempting to do with Spanish).

Yes, officially it belongs to the Finno-Ugric family, in the last 200 years the linguistic researches pointed many convincing similarities between the Hungarian, the Finnish and the small Uralic tribes's languages. A few historians and linguistics still dispute this fact, and they prefer the Turkish and/or Attila the hun theories, but after 1500 years it's a little bit hard to tell the truth. I'm in Team Finno-Ugric. Mostly.
The Carpathian Basin was a big cultural and linguistic melting pot for centuries, and Hungarian is deeply influenced by Latin, Turkish, German and Slavic impacts. And in the 18th-19th centuries there was a huge language renewal movement, which altered many words and invented new ones.
I think that's why it's so difficult.

Hi Aribeth, what an interesting group we have here. I spent a few days in Budapest on a whirl-wind tour of Eastern Europe last December. Hungary has a rich history and I think the origins of the Magyars is still undecided. Unexpectedly, I loved Budapest.
I was trained as a History and Latin teacher in South Africa although I have worked in IT all of my life. I should have stuck with languages as I find them far more interesting.
Grammar is an interesting subject. I've dabbled with a few Romance languages but always start with the grammar books. It is how I learn.
But... I have been in the USA for nearly 30 years, yet, I am totally bilingual in Afrikaans, the Dutch dialect of South Africa. I had to learn it for 12 years starting in the first grade. I haven't got a clue of the grammar. We simply learned the language.
