Salvaje 04/23/10 --The Wilding: A Neanderthal in Crisis

Capítulo 46

[CS2009 fans- It looks as if CS has been added to the 12 midnight/11 PM Central time slot beginning next Monday. Set your dvr’s. –ed.]

First, the redux deluxe in brief: In the bedroom, Aimee is lost in thought and tearfully worrying if she’ll be able to resist her irrisistable Juan once she finds herself alone with him now that he’s agreed to become the new administrator at Finca del Mar. Renato walks in on her and tells her they’re having dinner out because it’s their last night before returning to the finca. He explains that he needs to return because there was an epidemic among the workers, though, thanks to Dr. Pablo and Regina, it was contained. Aimee allows the adoring Renato to hug her and resigns herself to eventually having to meet up with Juan and face him as back at the hilltop casota, Juan informs Gabriel that he is going to work at the Finca del Mar for Renato Vidal because….deep down he needs to know why Aimee made a cuckolded fool of him. He’s told Noel and Renato that he no longer works for Aldama. Gabe will now be “Aldama’s” official representative. Gabe warns him that it’s like walking into the lion’s den [boca del lobo = literally the mouth of the wolf] to work there. Juan explains–almost as if trying to convince himself as well as young Gabe-- that one has to be close to his enemies, aka, Rodrigo Montes de Oca and Leonarda Vidal, to know what they’re planning and thinking.

Back at said finca, PE (personal enemy) #2, Leonarda, ventures into the bowels of the basement to dig out her stash of Maria del Rosario’s old jewelry to find something else to give Arcadio to buy his continued silence with. She takes the necklace Rodrigo once gave to MdR and gritches over it. As she passes by MdR’s cell, MdR begs her to have pity on her and tell her something about her son. Leona takes the opportunity to again mentally torture her half-insane sister by telling her how he’d been abandoned as a newborn in the jungle. She taunts her a bit more by saying that apparently he survived because one day Noel brought him to claim his rightful place in the family “--As if the bastard had any right!” This sets off Rosie, (Viewerville instinctively goes for the mute button.) “Of course he had a right because he is my son! My s-s-o-n -n-n!”

Juan instructs Gabe to buy Devil’s Rock and all the surrounding land under the name of Juan Aldama de la Cruz. He’s decided to build a large mansion, he explains, in memory of his father who lived and died on that land loving his mother. Juan will live there in his suffering from his betrayal, and because it’s the place where he was transformed into Juan del Diablo.

Leona continues her tormenting tale about Rosie’s long lost son: “When I ran him off he left and we never heard from him again. I suppose he could be alive, but most assuredly by now he’s dead.” Rosie cries out in anguish and refuses to believe he’s dead. Leona purposely provokes her again by saying she pities poor Rosie because now Rosie’s got nothing where, on the other hand, Leona has a son who loves her and lives with her. She also has Rodrigo (What a peach!) who is close to falling in love with her. And why? Because Leona is determined that he will be hers and only hers. Leona laughs evilly. She asks Rosie if she realizes who in the end has won, and then walks off leaving MdR wailing yet again in her misery. (Thank gawd for a mute button! Even with the mute on, we all know what Rosie’s screaming.) “Mi hijo!!! My son! My so-o-o-n-n-n! He has to be alive! Al-i-i-i-ive” FF>>

Upstairs in the kitchen Clemencia thinks Regina, smiling sugary-sweet and forever looking like Glenda, Good Witch of the North in those cotton-candy gowns of hers, has lost her mind for formally accepting Federico as a suitor. Regi says she had no choice because continuing to deny and defy Feddie only gets her more grief from Papa. Clem says she deserves better. (Viewerville tends to agree, but who pray tell? Who should it be?) Regi, with stars in her eyes, says there’s nobody better than Renato! Unfortunately, she adds, he’s somebody else’s now and she’s got to begin to accept her fate. FF>>

Gabe is back meeting up with Jimena again and trying to explain that he can’t love a gypsy because they’d be so different from him, and anyway, he only loves Estrella. Mena changes the subject and gives him one of her bracelets to thank him for giving her the mantilla which allowed her to enter the church. The dunderhead tells her he’ll keep it as an amulet in hopes that Estrella will return to him. (Just what the girl wants to hear –not!) He abruptly changes the subject and asks if she heard about the kidnapped little girl. Mena explains that she was the one who returned her and that it was Servando and her aunt who had taken her. Gabe wants to turn them in immediately, but she begs him to keep it just between the two of them. Otherwise she’ll lose the only other family she has, she pleads. If it happens again Mena swears she’ll turn them in herself. Gabe eventually agrees to keep mum.

Back in their cell, Mirta has brought Rosie some thread to embroider with apparently. Rosie has embroidered (you guessed it) “Juan de Dios” on an old rag of rag-baby’s. She remembers our Juan talking to her during her delirium and in her crazy way thinks it was JD Sr. and that somehow, some way, he’d said he’d come back for her. Rosie rambles on again that they’ll be together for eternity. She then tells Mirta that sometimes she can remember things. She remembers when her baby was born that Leonarda told her he was dead, but then right after she heard her say that he was alive. Now she’s telling her he’s dead again, but she doesn’t believe Leonarda. She thinks he’s alive and will soon come for her. FF>>

Back at the hilltop casota, Gabe hands Juan a cablegram which confirms that it’s unavoidable that the price of wood will fall. Juan is muy pleased to think that now nothing will be able to save Rodrigo Montes de Oca from financial ruin. Gabe and he agree that there would be no better punishment for the likes of Rod MdO than absolute poverty. “He will soon suffer the same fate he caused others to suffer.” Gabe is down with that.

Rodrigo, meanwhile, is getting a shoulder rub from his lovelorn Leona. She wants Dr. Pablo to have a look at him. He rejects the idea and says it’s not that serious. He’s just upset because of the sh!t fits [hacerle pasar corajes] Regina gives him. Leona tells him she only mentions it because she couldn’t stand for anything to happen to him. Rod the Rammer takes her hands in his and asks if she truly loves him that much. She pulls away from him, reminding him that she would never discuss that subject with him again. Rod says Noel wouldn’t appreciate her giving him this much attention. She sneers that she could care less what Noel thinks. In fact, the only thing Noel was good for was giving her a son.

Speaking of Nerdly Noel, he’s at the office paying Raul for the shares of the wood business that Raul sold off to Rod. Noel says Rod is now the sole owner of that enterprise. He only hopes that Rod isn’t sorry for not selling his shares when he told him to. Raul doesn’t fault Rod –an excellent businessman-- for believing in the wood enterprise, but adds he was told by somebody who knows even more about business dealings than Rod to sell out. Noel wants to know who that person might be. Raul realizes he’s just run off at the mouth and clams up. He hurriedly tells Noel that he’d prefer not to say, for safety’s sake, and then leaves in a rush.

Juan shows up at the gypsy camp asking (but at knife-point?) to speak alone with Jimena. When they’re alone Juan asks her how long she plans to keep up the ruse about the supposedly dying “Estrella” with Gabe. He cautions her against continuing to lie to somebody she loves. “It’s the same as double-crossing him!” Mena says she just hasn’t found a way yet to make Gabe forget about Estrella. The only reason she dreamed up the illness, she explains, was because at the time Gabe told her he was leaving there for good and she didn’t want him to suffer. When they decided to return everything backfired [voltearse contra] on her. Juan says Gabe will be furious with her if he finds out. She admits she truly loves him and simply doesn’t know what to do about it now. Gabe is such a dream come true for her. Juan understands, but insists she has to tell him the truth. He urges her to use the goodness of her heart and her love for Gabe as her weapon. That way she cannot fail to win him over. Mena insists Gabe will never fall in love with a gypsy girl. Juan believes that she can win him over if she is just herself with him.

Meanwhile, Gabe presents himself at Noel’s office as Juan Aldama’s new representative. When Noel asks about Juan San Roman, Gabe says he was fired. Noel says it doesn’t especially make him happy to hear the news, but he can’t say that the guy didn’t ask for it. Gabe then tells Noel that Aldama wants to buy Devil’s Rock and the surrounding land. Noel wonders what he wants with that God-forsaken place. Gabe says he hasn’t any idea. He is only following orders and doesn’t question.

Regina comes in to see how Papa Rod’s doing. He gripes that if she truly cared she wouldn’t be so rebellious, and then he complains to her that she doesn’t appreciate his efforts in getting her a decent husband. She tells him she finally has agreed to give Feddie a chance for the two of them to get to know each other better. Rod’s attitude changes for the better.
Across town, Fulgencio tells Feddie that he made a mighty nice profit from selling the guns up north as Feddie suggested and then hands Feddie his share of the loot. They figure there’ll be more where that came from, too.

Rosenda of the ever-bulging boobage brings Rod (a definite boob-man with a budding bulge of his own) dinner in his room. He wants her to feed him, he says. (Sort of gives the old saw “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach” a nifty, gut-wrenching new twist.) She serves him a few sensual mouthfuls. (Needless to say, my supper turned a few somersaults in my gut just watching those two.) She tells him that she made the broth herself and this excites him even more.

Regi pays a visit to Leonarda and gets a lecture about obeying the Ten Commandments--in particular, the tricky one about honoring thy father and thy mother--for her trouble.

Rod and Rosenda make moves on each other. Clemencia walks by and happens to see them close to kissing through the French doors. She suspects she’ll need to warn Rosenda about the what-comes-next.

Rosenda’s mama, Marlene/Magda, meanwhile, has put together a basketful of presents and ordered Phillipe to deliver them to Rosenda. He tells her she shouldn’t expect to buy her daughter’s love with gifts. Marlene, though, thinks if she showers her daughter with nice goodies she can keep her from coveting [ambicionar] what others have. (Nice try, but about 10 years too late and totally off the wall.) She ignores his advice and sends Frenchy on his way.

As soon as Rosenda returns with the empty tray to the kitchen, Clemencia tells her she saw her a bit too close for comfort with Don Ram-Rod in his room a bit ago. Rosenda is caught-redhanded impactada.

The newlyweds return to the finca. Leonarda greets Renato and Aimee who have returned from their honeymoon. Ren is happy to be back and makes a big to do over how Aimee loves the country as much as he does. Aimee grits her teeth and pretends to agree.

Back in the kitchen, Rosenda tries to pretend it was all innocent, but Clem says she saw her, so Rosenda cannot deny what was going on in there. Clem says she’s not trying to scold her, only trying to get her to think it through. Don Ram-Rod will entertain himself with her for a bit, but when he’s tired of her he’ll throw her out into the street --if Doña Leonarda doesn’t first. Rosenda gets huffy and pretty much tells Clem to keep her advice to herself. Clemencia ignores her and suggests there are other ways of getting ahead in life, but that the one she’s obviously chosen will only lead to trouble.

Aimee leaves to go upstairs while Ren and Leona continue to chat. Yes, Mama, he’s very happy with Aimee and feels very blessed. (Starry-eyed dolt!)

Juan, meanwhile, is visiting Santos and the gang. He tells them that he’s going to work as the administrator at Finca del Mar in order to find out why Aimee betrayed him. They tell him he must have lost his mind or something and nothing good can come of it. Remigio isn’t buying it either and says Juan only wants to get close to Aimee. He tells them that he’s not trying to get close to her again because he loves her, but because he hates her. (Ok. So it’s supposed to be more believable the thousand and first time he says it or what?) Juan insists that is not the case. Santos warns him that his crazy obsession will be his undoing. Pedro tells him it seems that he is in love with her even though he keeps saying he hates her. Juan still insists he only wants to know the truth about why she lied to him and made a fool of him when she told him she couldn’t live without his kisses….. “Don’t you understand?” Apparently none of them do.

At the same time, the object of Juan’s misplaced desire, Aimee, is pacing in her room. The narrator starts in: “Aimee is distracted, uneasy and unable to control her nerves. She begins to contemplate her next encounter with Juan. Will she be able to retrain her fluster when she sees him? Will he betray her with his look? His words? The impatience in his voice? Thinking about it all becomes a torture for her, a torture that robs her peace of mind.”

Juan tells the guys that in the end he’s going to be close to his enemies and that’s enough for him. Vengeance is his destiny and sooner or later it will come to that. They all know this. He cannot put it off [postergar] any longer. He leaves. Remi says the truth is Juan is only fooling himself. Pedro agrees. “Juan just won’t give up.” In any event, they’ll have to respect his decision, he says. Nobody there is smiling. Juan seems doomed to self-destruction.

Clemencia comes in to Aimee and Renato’s room to greet her. She is ecstatic to have her back and thinks that Aimee must be the happiest woman in the world with a man like Renato at her side. Aimee smiles wanly and then complains that she misses the city and feels like a prisoner there. She begs off for a nap before dinner. Clem agrees that’s best and leaves. Aimee can only look out at the sea and worry about what comes next now that Juan is going to be working there.

Regi greets Ren near the stairs. He thanks her for helping out during the epidemic. He embarrasses her by telling her they now call her the Angel of Paradise and by telling her that that is what she is to him, too, an angel. So he changes the subject and mentions that he’s hired a new man to be the administrator for the finca. The man is energetic and determined and holds the same ideals they do. He’s perfect for the place. She asks who the man is. Ren says he isn’t sure if he tells her whether she’ll be happy or disgusted and so he’ll just let her be surprised next morning.

Juan finds out that there is nobody home at the MdO mansion in Veracruz and takes the opportunity to climb up the trellis and sneak in. (Will somebody wiser than I tell me the purpose of having him climb in FF>> mode?)

Ren surprises Aimee while she’s looking out at the sea again. They get a bit frisky on the bed. Ren then asks her the obvious, why she was looking out the window. He doesn’t seem to believe her when she says she was only trying to breathe in the sea breeze. He says her face had that far away look on it and he suddenly felt jealous. “Jealous?” She giggles nervously. He says yes, and he hopes he never has reason to be. It would be more than he could handle. He just felt that she was busy thinking about something –or someone—else. Aimee lies and tells him nobody else but he could ever be in her thoughts. (Yawn. How much longer will she be able to lie with a straight face? I’m counting the hours, the minutes, the seconds.) She brattishly whines about leaving her alone for too long and asks what kept him. He explains he was chatting with his mother and then with Regi to thank her for helping during the epidemic. (Aimee hides a major eye-roll.) Eventually Ren lets the testosterone kick in and they begin that newlywed kissy-face stuff again……

Back inside the Veracruz mansion, Juan gets his macho-maniacal cave-man thing going. He just has to see the bedroom where the two consummated their marriage and where Aimee eventually betrayed his love. He finds the bedroom and enters. “This is where she promised him eternal love, the same as she did with me!” He curses her and then takes his knife and starts ripping up the bed in a fit of uncontrolled jealousy. He doesn’t stop there. He turns over the furniture and throws it around, breaking whatever he comes across. The last thing he breaks is the mirror after imagining seeing Aimee’s face reflected in it. (OMG! 7 years more bad luck. --Does anyone care?) He stops and stares at himself in the broken mirror. “The time has come for my revenge! This damned Montes de Oca family will find out who Juan del Diablo is! I didn’t throw the first stone, nor did I spill the first drop of blood! They turned me into what I am! I stopped being Juan de Dios to become Juan del Diablo!”

It's 12 Midnight, eastern.

Thanks for the recap, Jardinera; be back later!

Thanks Jardinera. I loved the heading - most appropriate. I don't have the patience to watch all of this telenovela so I channel switch or simply leave. It has its moments. Thanks for the recap to fill in the gaps.

Lynne

Thank you Capitana Jardinera for another excellent recap.

I had to keep readjusting my beanie cap throughout this episode.

Rod and Rosie -- Yuck!

What's up with Juan? He breaks into the house looking for Aimee and ends up in what looks like his Auntie's room and has a temper tantrum and destroys everything.

So, CS is moving to midnight/11 p.m. slot. Rumor has it that Hasta que dinero will be going to 2 hours for awhile. My question is how many of us will be following CS to its late night appearance? I'll try my best but I may have to rely on YouTube to do my recaps.

Jody :)

P.S. If anyone would like proof, check the screen cap of the promo kindly provided in this post.

(12 medianoche)

Thank you, Jardinera! I love the title, it suits to our Juan who's in venganzaaa mode again. :-) *yawns*

"PE (personal enemy) #2"
"Viewerville instinctively goes for the mute button."
-> LOL

"Needless to say, my supper turned a few somersaults in my gut just watching those two."
The same here.

Remigio is the voice of reason, as usual. He's a bright guy, sometimes I think Aldama should've brought him with himself to Spain, too.

Isn't midnighrt/11 Gancho's slot? And won't this kill the novela? For me it seems to be unnecessary, 10 p.m. would've been more rational.

(If anyone who doesn't have dvr and wants to how to download the episodes just send me an e-mail.)

Sorry, Jeri! Thanks for the correction! I've changed it. My appologies to all. I guess I was way too sleepy and posted it this AM without thinking. What's confusing is that the guides all still say 9/8 central.

Jardinera, I thought it was noon, eastern, the first time I looked at it on the TV.

I guess that's just because I couldn't believe it would be freakin' midnight!

Gancho is due to end, but I didn't know whether it were ending right now. Nobody seems to know what is going on.

This show will never have the chance to rise in the ratings like it did in Mexico in the midnight time slot. :(

I don't know when I'm going to watch it, except that it won't be at midnight.

Gancho still runs in Mexico.
http://www2.esmas.com/un-gancho-al-corazon/
-> "22 de abril de 2010, capítulo 212"
The original version of Gancho (Sos mi vida, from Argentina with Natalia Oreiro and Facundo Arana) also had ten thousands episodes. I remember there was a time a few years ago when every second Hungarian teenager was in love with SMV.

1. Where will this show go if CS gets its time slot?
2. And what about with Sexo y otros secretos from May 4?

Lynne: I feel your pain, amiga. At times I'm tempted also, despite enjoying the overall story.
==============
Capitana Jody: Glad you're still among the faithful! It will be difficult to get ratings and for me to stay awake. Hubby and I will be forever playing catch up. When is this one supposed to end here?

Jeri/Aribeth: I've forgotten how to add photos into the post. I wanted to put a couple of your things in but will have to remember what to do. Too many other new things pushing out the old in this tired brain. ; ? )

Thanks for the great recap Jardinera! I've been watching with my hubby who's had a few days off this week. He summed up Juan quite nicely when he said, "It's really hard to root for someone who is constantly acting like an ass." I agree. Juan is a twit!

I checked the schedule here (Seattle) and it looks like everything has been moved back 3 hours. Mi Pecado is on at 10, Dinero at 11, and CS at midnight. Prime time is filled with El Gordo Y La Flaca, Primer Impacto, and a local/national news hour.

I don't know how I'll keep up with this either. I must say I'm not really feeling the love for Juan right now, but I would like to see what happens with some of the lesser characters, particularly Noel and Rosenda.

Blackheart Jardinera, loved the title and the amusing recap. Again, I had to miss this novela. Life isn't fair.

Out of curiosity, I caught Gancho at 12 midnight last night, And it isn't over but the promo said Gran Final but I don't know when that will be. And Amar Sin Limites (ha ha) is on at 1 a m.

GinCA

You were really on a roll, Jardinera. Nerdy Noel, Rod the Rammer, ever bulging boobage and starry-eyed dolt....oh my...and those were just a few.

Sounds like this novela is as silly as ever, but ye Gods, what is Televisa up to!? Are they going to force everybody to invest in a DVR? I mean, some of us have to get up in the morning. This will certainly change things for people who don't have recording abilities. How sad.

Thanks again, amiga. You're always my Saturday afternoon treat and you never disappoint.

Jardinera:
CS has 89 episodes left, it means 18 weeks - four months.

I think Gancho ends next week in Mexico, because its producer, Angelli Nesma is working on a new telenovela called Llena de amor (it's the remake of the Venezuelan "Mi gorda bella"), and it will start on the 3 of May, in Dinero's time slot. The protagonists are Valentino Lanús (Amar sin límites, Alborada) and Ariadne Díaz (MEPS, Al diablo con los guapos).
So I guess Gancho must end soon, but only in Mexico, not in the US. Or am I wrong? I checked the recaps, but they're at episode 110-112.

Jody, here's youtube channel. I hope it won't be suspended soon.

Gancho only has about 6 episodes left. The Gran Final is scheduled for Monday May 3rd.

Jardinera starry eyed dolt LOL too funny loved your recap thanks so much and keep up the great work.

Ahh so they are now showing this comedy two hours each night?

I wonder if this will cause people to switch to Telemundo. El Clon has its limitations - as all telenovelas - but its before bedtime if one has to work the next day.

Lynne

Why are they changing schedules in Univision? This does not make sense at all.

Aribeth are you Aysel354 in youtube or is that someone else? There's at least 3,954 video clips there. I wish they had no tyime limit in youtube on the free account. Youtube has 10 minutes and Dailymotion has 20 minutes. Viddler is unlimited. Ny only problem with them is it takes longer to upload than YT and DM. It also slows down my ablility to surf in other windows when uploading.

Cielo de Levy, here is the channel of the person with the CCEA/Maria De Jesus videos that Somehow did not paste when i copy and pasted the other day.

http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=herbiephils#g/u

Aribeth, do you know somoene with a youtube channel with the entire run of Amor Real,Pasion,Zorro and Fuego En La Sangre on youtube? Complete with every single episodes like Ayel354 does?

Ibarramedia

Shoutouts to Jeri and Aribeth for pics and vidcaps :)

Ibarramedia

Hombre, thank you for the information!

Ibarramedia:
You're welcome. :-)

No, this is my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Beregorl
I would never dare upload whole telenovelas, I'm afraid of copyright claims.

"the entire run of Amor Real,Pasion,Zorro and Fuego En La Sangre"

As far as I know, right now there aren't any channels on youtube that contain any of these novelas. When FELS was running in Mexico, I watched the last 60-70 episodes on youtube, but they're already deleted. I also saw the DVD version of Amor real two years ago, but I don't know if it still exists... Most of these channels are temporal. However, there are many forums where from these telenovelas can be downloaded.

(Oh, I answered you at yesterday's post. :-))

Aribeth: Gancho has been over for almost a year in México. It's in the US when it ends on May 3rd.

Angelli Nesma Medina (the Gancho producer) has been producing "Llena De Amor" for almost a month, just last week I saw a segment on how they were taping a scene with Altair Jarabo.

CS recovered a little in ratings but it was never enough to consider it a success, they dropped again in the last weeks, although I didn't check the final week when usually there's a little rise for the grand finale. Still, I know several people here really liked this novela so I'm sorry for the change. I think everybody in the Gancho line can relate to this. I hope you can still watch it.

Jarocha

Thanks Aribeth for the link.

Jardinera, thank you for another excellent, funny and complete recap. I loved the Good Witch Glenda observation!

I wonder how Gabe is supposedly getting orders from Juan Adama, who is supposedly in Spain. I don't think they had telephones or any other kind of transatlantic communications in 1871, did they? So how could they get orders to do anything? They'd have to send a message on a ship, one would think, and that would take months. (Wait, I forgot, Juan went 900 nautical miles in one night on Luzbel, they must be using that as their supership).

Jeri and Aribeth: thank you for those great screen caps! Finally got to view them. Each one brings back a scene to me and the colors are so much more brilliant in these than on the tv screen.
=====
Xint: My hubby and yours must be having a mind-meld! LOL!
=======
GinCA: I'm still waiting for those midnight shows to actually present something I want to watch! There have been so many decent ones over the last few years that I couldn't see, but they end up putting on some of the turkeys IMHO. Oh well....
========
JudyB: I can relate to the Gancho gang's dismay. At least you all could watch the recording before bedtime!

Hombre, they had wireless telegraph back then since Napoleon's time. Though a good question might be about the availablity of said telegraph communications services in Veracruz during 1871.

Ibarramedia

Hombre: Maybe carrier pigeon? In this version of 1870's Veracruz our characters are still using flintlocks when the percussion cap/revolver is supposed to have been commonplace! Anyway, I believe the Transatlantic cable had been layed by this time, but don't know that the equivalent got put down between Havana and Veracruz. I say at this rate, a carrier pigeon is more likely.

Ibarramedia: you and I were tracking! LOL!

Jarocha: your screen name has me curious. I looked up the definition and you are anything but "grosero, brusco, o insolente"! Do you/did you live near Veracruz?

Yeah, I live in the Port of Veracruz :).

Jarocha

Jardinera, Great minds think alike. :) The transition from flintlock to percussion cap was a slow one, since the percussion system was not widely used until around 1830. Even in the 1870's, I would not be surprised to see flintlock pistols in action. Percussion cap was more readily available in the American West during the westward expansion and Manifest Destiny.

Ibarramedia

Just a little info about the word: "Jarochos" was the name the spaniards gave to the mulatos that inhabitated the Port of Veracruz and Alvarado regions. They were called that way because they used to make weapons with "jaras" (long sticks that used to grow on the earth, like bamboo). During that time the word Jarocho was considered despective as they considered ignorant and insolent. However, with time the meaning changed and the word was used to refer the people living in the Port of Veracruz, then changed again and now it is used to describe all the people living in the State of Veracruz.

I know the first despective meaning is still present in the dictionary for the Royal Spanish Academy but it would be rare to see someone nowadays refer to someone outside of Veracruz as a jarocho, especially if what you mean is to say they are rude. They'll probably just think you have a beef against the people from this state. Although, to be fair, we do have some sort of rep to be very animated, irreverent and bad-mouthed. I think I don't really fit in that profile though.

Jarocha

Juan and Gabriel are receiving cables; those papers Gabriel hands Juan are cables.

In an episode recently, Juan asked Gabriel about the cables in reference to the price of lumber.

I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to digitize and listen to the recap yet, Jardinera! It was posted after I got my news this morning, and I've been in and out. It will be a treat with tomorrow's news.

Jardinera, another great recap, thanks.

I cannot believe Uni is doing their musical TN again. The latest issue of TVyNovelas Estados Unidos has CS as #2. Do they actually think they can keep that rating by moving it to the middle of night?

Rosemary

Well, if you check the nielsing page you'll see that CS is manteining an average of 15 points, oscilating between 16 and 14. That means they have from 3.0 to 3.3 million viewers.

I don't have Sortilegio's numbers but they were usually around 19-20 points and in it's later episodes they were getting to 22-24. The last episode drew 6.6 million viewers.

MEPS was a little higher than Sortilegio during it's run and the last episode drew 7.3 million viewers and they had an impressive peak of 11 million at one point in the finale.

Gancho was having 14-13 points in ratings when it was pulled from the 7pm timeslot.

Here's the nielsing page if you want to check the numbers for CS and Dinero. Univision's numbers are at the bottom:

http://en-us.nielsen.com/rankings/insights/rankings/television

Jarocha

Sorry, I meant nielsen page.

Jarocha

Thanks, Jardinera. I couldn't believe it when they said that CS was moving to midnight. Que the hell ? I have to get up at 6 a.m. on weekdays, so there is no way that I can stay up until 1.00 am. Hub is already taping something for me everyday, so asking him to tape CS is going to be risky. However, that's the only way I'll be able to watch. I am not happy with Univision.

Jardinera and Ibarramedia, thanks for the telegraph idea. It turns out the Transatlantic (telegraph) Cable was finally correctly working in 1866, connecting England to Newfoundland. There were also other cable lines, so it's possible a cable could get from Spain to Veracruz in 1871. Before 1866, they probably had to use ships.

Jarocha: Thank you for the added explanation. No, you definitely do not fit that negative description. =/: ? ) Once again you've given us a bit of perspective that I so much enjoy. So I figured you took it from the area around Veracruz and I remembered the interesting photos you showed us of the fort.
=========
Rosemary: Glad to see you made it for the weekend gabfest!
==========
Jeri: not to worry. Join us whenever! BTW, tornadoes hit 20 minutes south of us today. Sirens off and the like. Well, rain will soften the ground for a few more of my planting "experiments".

As for wireless telegraphy, it does not seem to have been perfected until the 1880's or 1890's (although again, I could be wrong, this is based on Wikepedia).

Hombre: The realistic means was probably just that. Just having fun with you! ; > ) So what's the Gancho team going to do next if it's only got six more episodios?

Real Mad Bess: Now we all have a reason to be really mad! I am taking a page from Juan and relying on true love asking my hub to tape a second tn for me. LOL! It will be the test of same..... Je, je! No tape, no justice! No justice, no peace!

I TiVo'd the new time slot last night, just to see when Gancho is scheduled for.

The Gran Finale on the 3rd is scheduled for 3 p.m. EST/ 2 central.

So they must be changing to afternoons at 3 on Monday when we go to midnight.

CS is on at 11 p.m. here in Chicagoland, so not impossible. But I probably won't watch it at that time.

Jardinera, I saw that in the headlines about the tornadoes! :-( Poor people.

I guess we will be getting them in a couple weeks, once the warm air makes it a little further north.

Dishnetwork hasn't changed yet for me in Michigan. It still shows CS at 9:00 p.m!

Lynne

Just curious, do any of you have more than 1 recording device or vcr? I have 2 in my room and 1 in the family room. there have been times when I'm manually recording and editing monday night football games and recording a show at the same time.

When All of us were growing up in this huge family of mine, and we're 8 kids, it would get crazy deciding what to watch. So when we were able to afford it, every room had a tv and vcr. Dad watches al;l the cnn and MSNBC typ of shows in the big tv, mom watches in their room in a small tv, we all watch what we wanted in our rooms. there were times of course that we all watched the same thing.

I stopped recording with my laptop because it ran out of memory to record tv shows. (it requires more memory to do that) I have probably an estimated 10,000 pictures and 3-5.000 cds and several hundred video clips in my hard drive now. I'm seriously debating if I should upgrade my 3 year old then top of the line laptop or get an external hard drive.

Ibarramedia

Ibarramedia, we have a DirecTV HD DVR in the family room, an older TiVo in my novela cave upstairs; and a first-generation TiVo we don't use in the basement.

It's just the two of us -- and still, it keeps the peace. My husband can't even stand to listen to me watching telenovelas in the family room.

Jarocha:

Thanks, the esmas page of Gancho really confused me.

"Angelli Nesma Medina (the Gancho producer) has been producing "Llena De Amor" for almost a month"

Yes, I know, I've already seen the promo videos, they aired a week ago. (Lanús is a sweetheart, but this show won't be my cup of tea, I'm afraid. I couldn't stand the original one.) I know there has been problems with the first episode, the creators had to re-shoot some scenes because Televisa didn't like it.

CS and ratings: it recovered almost 10 points since the worst month, and that's impressive. After Easter even Dinero dropped, and it hasn't recovered yet (23-24 points in the last weeks after a year of 28-32), while CS reached 27.6 points at the end. Yes, Sortilegio and maybe even Pasión had higher ratings at the finale, but 27-28 is good enough for a so-called failure.

Breaking news: it seems after Duena Mejía will make a new telenovela again. Carla Estrada doesn't want to work this year, Larrosa is tired, so our beloved circomaster will be the next in line. He wants to remake Delia Fiallo's Cristal, which was adapted 11 years ago by Estrada, and to my knowledge El privilegio de amar was one of the biggest hits in the '90s.
(A friend of mine joked that maybe Estrada should remake El hogar que yo robé, the original of La usurpadora, Mejía's best telenovela.)
No comment. I only want to know that who'll be the protagonist, whose career will be destroyed this time. :-P

Back to the schedule changes: it's a sad, because the story'll get better at last.

Wow, Juan was certainly scary at the end there, wasn't he? Up until now, I've never been as severely put off by him as some of the people here have (found him slightly distasteful at times, sure; want to whack him a good one, definitely), but that pretty well did it.

Why did he climb the balcony in FF mode? My guess: The producers are getting tired of watching him show off, too. "Great, we know you can scream like an asylum inmate and cling to a railing, Juan. Can you show us a new trick, now?"

-----

I'll still be watching after the time change because I record it and wait for the recaps to go up anyway - otherwise, I'd only have the vaguest idea what's going on (I knew I should have taken Spanish in high school, but I had to listen to someone else and go for the smaller class, French - which I remember absolutely nothing of now). We actually got a DVR specifically for that reason, because our last VCR quit working ages ago and what few VCRs can be gotten now aren't compatible with our TVs without additional equipment. (Not that it hasn't been useful outside of CS, too; I love having it! There just isn't a whole lot of TV I really like, so period novelas are a special thing and therefore worth it.)

What frustrates me most about it right now is that Comcast's guide is also still showing Salvaje at 9 and Gancho at midnight (so I'll probably end up recording both just in case something screws it, because it wouldn't be the first time). I hope it's not going to end up affecting it in other ways, though, like the recappers having to drop out or the show getting dropped altogether. Does that ever happen? This is only my third novela, so I don't know how it all works, if it's like an American show with low ratings.

Re: The question of people switching to Telemundo: We don't even get Telemundo here, as far as I know. I wish we did; I would have liked to see La Tracion. We don't subscribe to the full array of channels that are available in this area, but I scrolled through the whole of the guide just now, and there's nothing I can identify as being Telemundo. The one thing I thought might have been it apparently wasn't, since I didn't see a listing for El Clon.

Mad Marley Grey:

"like the recappers having to drop out or the show getting dropped altogether"

I have the same fears. This doesn't affect me directly, I've seen the show already, own the episodes, so I shouldn't be whining - but I love the recaps, and they cheer me up every morning in this stressful exam period, when all I want is to burn my law books and to howl like Juan. :-)

question guys any of you recapping donde esta Elisa a person that I met in a forum is groing impatient with the show because they dont understand english but I think its more an obsesion with the show and to "find"elisa can I reffer her to guys or are you not not covvering It?

Its a shame because Elisa is a trillion times better than Churazon salvaje for example the real and only corazon salvaje is the 1993 version in my opinion this version is a joke to say the least but
I undestand that you have to cover univision more but because it has a greater audience but a litttle more tlemundo coverage wouldnt hurt you guys are missiong out Elisa is the bomb

Churazon just damages the brain jajaja and the legacy of eduado palomo Excuse my quip but I cant stand it the only good thing is the zurita and boyer couple bseside that its unbarable to see.

Just a suggestion

Telemundo has a full video of El Clon on their website the day after the show on TV. I think that this is their way of competing with Televisa. Sometimes I watch it on my laptop if I have missed the previous evenings show. I don't know about the other shows - don't want to be tempted to spend more time watching telenovelas!

I'm surprized that news shows would replace telenovelas. I have a full package of Spanish channels on Dish including CNN in Spanish. The news channels are obsessed with the anti-immigration moves in Arizona. I wonder if the thinking is that this is hot news at the moment.

Lynne

We used to only get Univision, but about a year ago, we started to get Telemundo and Telefuturo. I enjoyed watching the end of Dona Barbara with Edith Gonzales and now I'm watching the end of Amor Real and Zorro [wish I would have been able to watch the whole novela...I like Osvaldo Rios ] . I've been watching El Clon , and while it is different because it takes place in Morocco and Miami, the characters just keep going around and around. The story has jumped ahead about 15 years , but everyone is still doing and saying the same things. [This seems to be common in novelas....just like American soap operas.] I like Corazon Salvaje , and I want to see what unfolds. I'm anxious to see Leo get her punishment for all the mess she's made. I want to see Juan and Mommy reunited. I want to see Aimee to be put down a peg or two. I want to see Juan and Reggie sail off into the sunset....but not at midnight. Nothing on American TV interests me very much. [I'm currently watching reruns of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Yeah, she was loving a vampire long before Twilight hit the shelves.] Well, now I have to have a talk with hub about taping 2 shows for me. Wish me luck.

Good morning. :-) ::stretch, yawn::

Slighty OT: I noticed this bit in the news; had no idea this was coming up again:

In the week of April 26, the House will take up a bill enabling Puerto Rico to hold a referendum on whether to remain a U.S. commonwealth or seek independence or statehood. The Senate will begin debate on financial regulations.

I've read the policies of this site many times, however, I still don't know if I'm allowed to do this or not. But after linking youtube channels this FB group couldn't do much harm:

Tania: Welcome! We appreciate your suggestion and you've brought up a number of good questions. I will try to answer as best I can since it's on my recap's watch this time, but Melinama may have other, better information or suggestions.

1) As for which of the shows are being recapped, they are always listed on the orange sidebar of Caray. If it's not there it's not being recapped by Caray. Why? Because although telenovela popularity grows in this country, the time for and/or the ability to recap from Spanish by people able to volunteer their time who are also aware of this site are not always there in great enough quantity. We are mainly a Univision site because most of us who've found this site only have gotten Univision from our cable providers, it being the largest Spanish-speaking channel. As time goes on Telemundo is finding its way to us through various new media options, but that again means still only a few of the very same people who are already volunteering the hours of writing and translating for Univision shows might want to do double duty with a Telemundo show.

Telemundo has great English captions for English-only speakers IF you can get CC3 on your tv. Jean, PaulaH and NovelaMaven are recapping El Clon for those of us who cannot get the captioning and who enjoy reading their special take on things in recap form.

2) If the person wanting "Elisa" doesn't understand English, there is always Spanish captioning on CC1. If they don't understand either, then your person can do a Google or Bing or Lycos search for language forums in their native tongue. There are also translation sites where whole pages or paragraphs can be copied and pasted and translated, i.e., from English to Portuguese, etc. I have no other suggestions other than the obvious: many of us recappers learned "on the job" by getting a basic Spanish grammar workbook and dictionary.

I hope not to be rude, but purely informative, so your friend is less frustrated and now has a few more options. =/8 > )

Mad Marley Grey: "Up until now, I've never been as severely put off by him as some of the people here have (found him slightly distasteful at times, sure; want to whack him a good one, definitely), but that pretty well did it." Yes, indeedy! LOL! Also loved your explanation of the FF>> monkeyjump by Juan up the trellis to the balcony. ["Great, we know you can scream like an asylum inmate and cling to a railing, Juan. Can you show us a new trick, now?"] Hubby has definitely lost all patience with this nut-goodie.
=============
Mad Marley/Aribeth/Mad Bess: I for one will do my best to watch and recap till the very end. As I told the El Clon recappers, it's a benefit to tn lovers who are unable to catch the meaning and they are so much appreciated for doing double and triple time over there nightly. There was a time when I struggled to understand what was being said and TN-World had a team of summary folks. It was horrible when the captions went out. I relied on them and somebody there always came through and made things enjoyable. I just hope to repay their kindness by doing what I can. This is the best way I know how.

Jardiner, thanks again for the most excellent recap.

So, Juan wants to find out why Aimee made a fool out of him; why doesn't he just back up a bit and take a cool look: rich girl/poor man. Surely in his day and time -- and after what his folks went through -- it would seem perfectly reasonable for Aimee to wish to retain her status.

Juan never told her he was rich; all he showed her was the beach shack. Rich girls need their cabana boys; pretty simple. Maybe the fact that his parents had true love despite the same situation is blinding Juan.

I think they introduced a new musical theme during the sad scene with Regina in Clemencia's quarters. It was kind of wistful and ethereal. I liked it.

Wow, it was kind of surprising that Jimena revealed to Gabriel that it was she who returned the kidnapped girl, and her aunt and Servando who kidnapped her. Now I'm wondering how they are going to have Gabriel use this information.

Or maybe -- it was just to demonstrate to Gabriel that there are bad gypsies, but also good gypsies, so he has reason to get over his prejudice. He already likes her, though, so he must realize she's a good person. Jimena looked as though she were growing a bit fatigued of Gabriel's interest in Estrella; I sure hope so.

Curious if María del Rosario's embroidery with Juan's name on it will come in handy at some point; that was something new. Maybe Juan will see the black-veiled woman again and find the embroidery with his name on it in her pocket or something.

Nerdly Noel -- ha! I like that one. Noel did look very concerned when Raúl refused to give the name of his business insider and rushed off in a hurry. But knowing him, he'll push his doubts to the back of his mind until something hits him with a brick.

I don't know if Juan's advice to Jimena is so good, knowing Gabriel's prejudice against gypsies. Juan even knows he's prejudiced, so why did he inject himself into that, I wonder.

Federico really seems to be blooming as a criminal; he looks more confident than he used to, and he's actually making money for a change instead of wasting it. More of this cash and he'll be looking at that troublesome package, Regina, with a more jaundiced eye. Who needs that, perhaps he will decide.

Oh, brother; I thought Juan's wild-man scenes were behind us. Wishful thinking. Renato also reminded us that he has an unreasoning jealous streak, so that might be something to look forward to; seeing a different side of him.

BHJardinera, Thanks for your siempre fabuloso recap. I am just back from Costa Rica and cannot make sense of any of the plots yet but will delve back into the recaps here. I am dvrless, pobre de mi so very grateful for CarayCaray so I can revisist the 2 weeks of maddness and mahem when I get some time. Now I am processing thousands of images of my trip to paradise.

As usual, my love of story tellers is animated by Jarocha's and Ibarramedia's priceless glimpses into the amazing lives we all seem to live while enjoying this telenovela world. I was out of internet range much of the voyage but did see TV in some restaurants, near the Arenal volcano at lunch time I saw a bit of HQDineroNS, but the lure of exotic birds and flowing lava didn't permit me the time to figure out whether they were ahead or behind Univision's episodes.

It is good to be home, but I am totally confused about the schedule change. I will be ready to recap this Wed. night when I figure out what time. Then I am gone for the following week for another photo workshop, this time at Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu and Santa Fe.

Jeri: always love your take on things. Juan is much like Aimee, never thinking of consequences. They are both consumed with immediate gratification and are selfish to a major fault. IMHO Renato gets his jealous streak from Mama Leona. She is a man-eater in every sense.

Juan would do well to counsel Gabe regarding his prejudices now that he's certain of them. He counsels him as much as Gabe counsels Juan, it would seem. Unfortunately, Juan doesn't listen to any of it for the most part. We can all learn things from younger ones in our midst and Juan doesn't see that side of things so well.

Anyway, ITA that you can't expect a woman who's been brought up in luxury to go ga-ga over a bamboo hut in the middle of nowhere. Not everyone is a ready-made Jane to some Tarzan type. He's a dolt for thinking Aimee could be.

ITA with your take on the Gabe/Jimena good-gypsy/bad-gypsy theme and her tiring of his passion for a non-existent Estrella. It's way past time she take those blinders off him.

CherylNM: Hey, stranger! Glad you're back amongst us. Make sure to link us to your photos of paradise once they're organized. You capture some great candids.

ha ha, Cheryl, those of us that have been watching & even the recappers can't make any sense of the plot.

I told you guys anything Mejia s/b be on in the 3AM time slot. It's still listed in the paper & my TV website for 9PM.

Jardinera, thank you and to all of the recappers for your efforts. :-)

Jeri, your take on things was great, again.
"Maybe the fact that his parents had true love despite the same situation is blinding Juan."
Especially this. It's an interesting explanation of Juan-A-Cave's naivete regarding Aimee's true luuuvvvv.

The piece of music you mentiones is nice indeed, I like it, too.
I finally found my favourite tune from the show: link (episode 6), it starts at 08:58. It doesn't occur often in the show, maybe that's why I can't get tired of it.

Btw, I found a of picture the young JDD, Felipe Sanchez. Not a bad looking lad. :-)

Jadinera, I haven't checked in with you for awhile though I try read your recaps each week. Since I've not watched this show since our trip to Isla Mujeres, I haven't felt qualified to comment about it (though probably wasn't, even when I was watching). When I read about the time change (does Univision have suicidal proclivities?), I thought I'd drop by and commiserate with you guys. As several have commented, they did something similar to us at Club Gancho resulting in wailing and gnashing of teeth. As it turns out, it served to bring us closer together, sort of an us against the world (at least Univision) mentality. We managed to survive and even picked up some wonderful new aficionados. I'm sure you guys will have the coping skills to keep going. My heart really goes out to the recappers of Dinero. One hour a week is daunting enough as you know. I can't conceive of 2hrs. I'm sure that they'll come up with a way as well. I know that I could be a little faster and more efficient if they'd simply provide reliable CCs.

Good luck to all the recappers and followers of Corazón Salvaje. We at Club Gancho feel your pain.

Carlos

Carlos: Ah-hah! I knew if I steered clear of apples long enough you'd eventually pop back by! LOL! I appreciate your commiserate bedside manner here in our time of affliction. It should have been expected, all things considered, that this tn would be moved to the side for something as popular as Dinero. I'm sure we'll troop on as those who can will continue along with us and perhaps new commenters will join the group as you suggest.

I must say, if it's 2 hours a week for each Dinero recapper it will be a definite hard row to hoe. I hope Melinama can pick up a few more potential recappers from the group who are currently watching. There are numerous talents among this group of tn-watchers still hiding their lights under various bushels.

First thing I want say a big THANK YOU to all the recappers. You all do a great job and we appreciate it very much!

"So, Juan wants to find out why Aimee made a fool out of him; why doesn't he just back up a bit and take a cool look: rich girl/poor man."

I agree totally, but Juan also needs to remember HE dumped Aimee - not once, but twice. She did come back to the cave after the first time and try to patch things up and he wouldn't have it. So what did he expect? She should 'do a Regina' and become a nun??? Earth to Juan: get real hombre!!

Yes, Feddy is getting more devious. He's making money selling guns and getting it on with two women. Hopefully Regina will be too high-maintenance for him. I think he's going to get cocky that will be his undoing.

Is it too much to hope that Gabe might realize if Griz and Servando kidnapped a girl, they might have done the same with Jimena? Wait. What was I thinking?? He can't even tell Jimena is Estrella so figuring out that scenario is definitely beyond his capacity....

Cheryl, welcome back! And I think we can all take heart from Carlos's post about Club Gancho.

In this post-apocalyptic Televisa/Univision era, probably a lot of weird things are going to be happening. Things were stable for a couple decades. I guess it's too much to expect things to go on as usual.

Aribeth, that's a beautiful photo of Felipe Sanchez! But are you sure you got the right clip for your tune? I thought we heard that one a lot.

Thanks anyway, though; that clip was terrific. I am beginning to think I will be happy to rewatch this show just as you have. It was a pleasure watching that clip.

xlntperuvian, absolutely; I have been yelling that at Juan on the television. He dumped her. Well, I think we all know what's at work here: the old double standard. To quote Hank Hill: "Not so fast, Bobby; you've got the long end of that double standard!"

He dumps her; doesn't matter. She can't go on with her life; it's about him. Juan doesn't notice that his dad never said anything like that to his mom.

Jeri: maybe I'm wrong, I had the impression that this tune occured only once or twice a week. :)

Juan is a typical macho telenovela dumbass who loves double standard, and he did dump her, therefore he should shut the frak up... But imho he suspects that Aimee and Renato were already engaged while the little princess was rolling with him in the cave.
First, he can count, for me it seemed that he left Mexico only for a week. Or two. Falling in love, getting engaged and married in such a short time... Impressive. Second, he has serious trust issues, and since Aimee's a Montes de Loca, Spawn of the Enemy, he wouldn't completely believe her explanations even if she was telling the truth.

And this makes the situation more complicated. However, he should make a self-examination first.

Hi. It's a dismal, rainy day , and I'm just back from a baby shower. Yesterday, I was lost in the world of princesses at Disney's Princesses on Ice. [I need a fairy godmother.] Welcome back, Cheryl. I've had several students from Costa Rico , and they tell me that it is a beautifully verdant place. Carlos~~I am hoping that the folks in Ganchoville are going to join us here in Corazonland when Gancho ends. It really is a fun novela with lots of people to love and lots to hate and some that we love to hate and some we hate to love. Also, I know that you menfolk will love the Three Happy Dancing Hos plus all the lovely ladies whose wardrobes showoff a lot of their charms ...[Rosenda and her gravity defying anatomy, Aimee and her bustling bustle, Eloisa and all her hussiness, Jimena in her I-Dream-of-Jemina outfits, etc] I must say that I liked the scene of Juanzan climbing up the side of the building and leaping over the balcony because we never actually got to see this process in FELS. In that show, Juan would just suddenly appear in Sofia's boudoir. We never saw the process. I thought that Scotty just beamed him there. By the way, my TVguide section of the Sunday paper shows CS at 9 pm this week.

Thanks, for a very fun and fabulous recap, Jardinera! I lol too many times to point put. :) But here's one I really liked "Ok. So it’s supposed to be more believable the thousand and first time he says it or what?"

Ibarramedia, gracias again and nice to "see" you're here actively again. You were MIA for awhile, and your absence was felt. :)

Thanks Cielo. I had been extremely busy. Still am though...

Ibarramedia

Susanlynn,

My plan is to record Corazón Salvaje each night on the TV in my office and watch it with my coffee. No problema. Sounds like it's senseless enough that I can pick up, read the recaps that I haven't already read, and pretty quickly plague you guys with my thoughts.

By the way, I referenced you as a source on a quote on un Gancho al Corazón today complete with a link.

Carlos

Aribeth, it's true Aimee's wedding was rather sudden; but I think she told Juan that her father arranged it, didn't she?

Of course, you're right that he has trust issues. He wouldn't believe her even were that true.

Jeri/Aribeth: I think Juan IMHO can't trust because he knows he's never been honest with any of them either. They've both been playing games. He's getting what he asked for.

Carlos~~Thanks for the shoutout and the link to Highlander. That was such a great show, and I did lose my head over Adrian for awhile !!!! Oddly, the show helped me deal with my dad's death. I enjoyed watching the opening again. Love Queen and Kansas.

Jeri: You are correct. Aimee claimed her marriage to Renato was arranged.

Lots of action in the past few episodes and not all of it good! Thanks to the recappers who keep us current.

Juan's rampage in the honeymoon suite was waaaaay too overdone. If you want revenge Juan, remember it's a dish best eaten cold (or whatever the quote is.)

In musing about CS (yes, I have better things to do but don't always get to them), the new development of Jimena's real mother yearning for her return made me think about the several mother-child separations this show has:
Maria dR and Juan
Magda/Marlene and Rosenda
Real mother(?) and Jimena

also Aimee/Regina whose mother died young, the Ho dancers who are separated from their families

It's not an uncommon theme for TNs, just emphasized in this one.

Rodrigo asking Rosenda to feed him? Ewwwww--didn't feel like he really needed the help, just a skeevy and self-centered whim.

Not pleased with the time change. I'm often up that late, but winding down for the day. May have to try recording to see next day.
La Paloma

Time change does not show up in Dish Network online programming schedules. So, I guess we'll wait and see this evening ....

The recaps are all fun but especially the weekend one as we have more time to speculate on the plot - even though it is inconsistent, disjointed ... but still fun .. most of the time :)

FC will make an appearance

I'm hoping that this new hour thing is only an added opportunity to watch like they did with Gancho I believe for a while --at least I think people here said they added on an extra evening hour repeat at 11PM. Am I right about that?

Jardinera, well, yeah; Juan should have trust issues, considering all the lying and scheming he's done. If Aimee had known he was rich, they'd probably be married now.

Thanks for the backup, Charlotte. :-) La Paloma, that's an nice point about the mothers; also a caveat on how screwed up things get when kids don't have them around. Must say, though, Jimena turned out well despite her awful situation.

An 11 p.m. repeat? They used to repeat some shows a long time ago; you mean repeating telenovelas?

Thanks for the recap Jardinera. I haven't had a chance to watch yet or to finish all the comments.

If CS is really going to come on that late I won't be able to recap which bums me out. I can post a place to comment if no one picks up Thursday.

Be back later after I have a chance to read all the comments.

Charlotte Mami: Welcome!

========
La Paloma: Yeah, there's been some action, but I am getting bored/impatient with the non-love scenes between Jimena and Gabe. Your list of mother/child separations is interesting.

I was confused at first who the two women crying for a missing girl were. Duh! It would seem that Jimena does come from "Gabe's World" and of course she doesn't realize this yet. A few nights ago when Serv and Griz discussed kidnapping the little girl they did mention as they giggled about it that they'd done the same to Jimena and that the bit about Griz being her dead mother's sister was a load of pucky. At least that part of the plot is beginning to take shape.

Can someone please let me know the time frame for this novela on the east coast (PA). I see it at 9:00 at present. When does it change also? I am just hearing this now?????

Anon, although cable guides and the schedule on Univision haven't reflected the change, it appears that Corazon Salvaje will only be on at 12 midnight, from now on.

It also appears that Hasta que El Dinero Nos Separe will be on from 8-10 each night.

As for Un Gancho Al Corazon, which was originally on at 7:00 P.M., a few months ago it was switched to 3:00 P.M., with a nightly repeat at midnight. It appears that it will continue to be on at 3:00 P.M., but without the repeat (because Corazon Salvaje has the midnight slot). Gancho only has 6 episodes left.

All of this information is unconfirmed. We'll just have to wait until tonight to know for sure.

The website is still listing it at 8:00.

From past experiences over the years, When the powers that be make a change in tv schedule it does not get updated immediately on the tv guides, tivos or even websites. if anything will be updated first, it usually is the website. The stuff on print sometimes takes weeks to update because they have already given the blueprint for lack of a better word, to the printers.

so, if you see an advert on tv saying there is a change in schedule, you best make a note of it or you will miss the show. I'm betting it will at least be 2 weeks before you see a change. Since we all now know about this, Let's set our schedules accordingly.

Ibarramedia

To get off the sad topic of the time change, my husband and I want to plan a week-long trip to Mexico this Fall. Any suggestions for good places to go for first time travelers to Mexico who like natural beauty, historic stuff and quaint towns? Ruins are good too.

Beth,

Very recently we spent a wonderful week on Isla Mujeres. It is located right of the coast from Cancún. It is a beautiful place with lots of charm and is very near a number of attractions (cenotes, ruins, a beautiful national park, bird sanctuary, beautiful beaches, and super friendly people. Cancún reminded me of Las Vegas, Isla Mujeres is Mexico at its best. To travel around the island, everyone drives golf carts. We loved our stay there.

Beth, I spent 3 wks in Guanajuato 2 years ago & I just love the place. It's mountains, no beaches, but being from FL I didn't want beaches. It's quaint, take your walking shoes, many good sites to visit & interesting tours. I highly recommend it. It is also relatively safe.
Google some images, it's beautiful.

Beth, If you want coastal experiences, maybe Puerto Vallarta is one good choice for first timers. I am currently crazed about going to Oaxaca, the city which has incredible artisans, Spanish colonial architecture, pyramids and ruins aplenty and surrounding pueblos that make incredible arts and crafts. The seaside places in the state of Oaxaca include Puerto Escondido, which many people really like, Puerto Angel is very small but I like it a lot, but I speak Spanish fluently now so my choices are a bit less important (e.g. finding help in English may be comforting to many and safer feeling if it is your first ever trip.)

Others on this blog may give you more fabulous ideas too. Have fun and don't drink the tap water, buy bottled water or be sure your hotel treats the guest water, they will be specific if they do, but most foods are fine if you buy from restaurants or fresh foods in the markets. Take anti-diahrrheal medicines from here, just in case.

Thanks, Carlos, Variopinta, and Cheryl. These all sound great. Any advice as to where to stay? I'm starting to get really excited.

I've been to Puerto Vallarta. It was very pretty. The place I stayed was an all inclusive kind of place. Meals, drinks, everything. You could take a taxi into town. It's not very far or very expensive. But hang on for your life! :) They drive like maniacs.

Cancun is a little as I imagine Miami. There is no necessity to speak Spanish - American English is all that is needed :). Dollars are gratefully accepted. The beach is pretty lousy in most places - still relic of destruction in 2005. There are places outside of Cancun that are a little less like Miami. Day trips will take you to the wonderful Mayan ruins - if that is what interests you.

At the end of the year, I'm going to Central America to see the Mayan ruins. In December, I'm going to the Copper Canyon which is supposed to be larger than the Grand Canyon.

Beth: If you decide to go to Cancún, I recommend you to visit the Xcaret natural park (here's the page http://www.xcaret.com/).

It's a natural park where you can swim on the small beaches, go snorkel, watch charrerías, learn about the ecology, the cultures that used to live there and at the end of the day they have a spectacle where you first walk on a rute where you see mayans living like they did before the spaniards and watch their ancient ball game and a represenation of a battle, then you go to a stage where they present musical numbers and dance from every state of México.

If you have the time and don't mind the trips, spending a couple of days in Cancún then a complete day at Xcaret and then another at Chichen-Itzá would be nice. If you had time to visit Mérida that would be even better.

If you go to Jalisco, a couple of days getting to know Guadalajara and then a day in Tequila and finish it off in with a weekend in Puerto Vallarta is also very nice.

Oaxaca-Puerto Escondido and Oaxaca-Puerto Angel are nice trips too. Oaxaca the state closest to its indigenous origins so that is always atractive to tourists. You will see alot of color and also the best time to visit Oaxaca City is during the first two mondays of july to get to see the Guelaguetza, a show they have every year where representants of every municipality dance their popular types of music all dressed up in their typical outfits. There's also the ruins of the pyramids of Monte Alván from the Zapotecas.

Guanajuato and Zacatecas are big examples of the Colonial Era and those cities are full of history. The arts are also well developed, especially on Guanajuato, although this city is at its best during the Cervantino Festival in october but the city is always nice.

Veracruz is also more for those who like history, but after exploring the city on a weekend (when they have the shows at the Zócalo) you can go spend a day in Cátemaco, sort of a natural spa where indigenous "chamans" will help you relax and treat you for the day and then close by are the ruins of pyramids of Tajín from the Totonacas and the Papantla flyers. Or you could go directly to the very beautiful city of Tlacotalpan and do the Tlacotalpan-Catemaco-Tajín-Papantla route.

Chiapas has the beautiful lagoons of Agua Azul and the Velo de Novia cascade, San Cristóbal de las Casas is also a nice and beautiful town and the ruinds of the mayan pyramids in Palenque.

I hope I wasn't too confusing but those are my personal favorite choices. If you feel still little too overwhelmed with spanish, Cancún or Isla Mujeres are always good first choices.

Oh and If you decide to go to Isla Mujeres or Playa del Carmen or Cozumel, you can also plan for one day trips to Xcaret.

Did they just make this change of CS without announcing it first? I guess Mejia is not getting his way after all.

Jarocha what do you think of this move? Mejia went through all that trouble rearranging novelas for his CS novela and it looks like because the ratings are poor now his novela is being moved.

I guess we night get to see La Duena early over here maybe.

I don't know how much this will affect Mejía, I guess it all depends on how his new novela does in ratings and how well it's selled in other countries. But I'm thinking so far he must be feeling a little pressure to make a hit.

Jarocha

Jarocha is Mejia still going ahead with his Cunos De Lobos project? I know he was getting a lot of flak especially after he produced this one.

So far, there's no further news about Cuna de Lobos. It seems like pre-production has been stalled and the rumors say it was cancelled.

Oh my seems like Mejia is not having a very good year. I was reading something last week about William saying he's not going to work on a novela this year. At the time i wondered about that comment sice he was going to be in Cunos. Now i see why he that.

What's Mejia's next novela do you know?

Apparently, a new remake of "El Privilegio de Amar". I think Aribeth has following that story closer than I but from what I've seen, it looks like that production is a go.

I did read when he was going to do the Cunos project when it was still on that he would cast more younger age appropriate actors for the roles. It will be interesting to see who he will cast for this novela.

What happen they didn't give any type of warning that this change was coming they just yanked CS just like that. When i read Jardinera's recap and saw her posting about the change i was thinking they were going to have it on for two hours a night one at 9pm at the other 12midnight.It was still saying CS at 9pm on the TV guide on my TV. I saw that they are showing Hasta for two hours now.

I saw the ratings of CS for the first week of april. Looking at those the change was not as surprising since they seemed to be near the numbers Gancho was making when it was pulled from the 7pm timeslot.

Anon:
It seems Mejía's still the most powerful producer in Televisa, in spite of the mediocre ratings of Corazon salvaje... Rumor says that his new telenovela will be the next after Duena. It's an adaptation of Delia Fiallo's Cristal, which had three versions yet:
1. one in Venezuela with Lupita Ferrer (1985)
2. one in Mexico (El privilegio de amar by Carla Estrada) with Helena Rojo and Adela Noriega (1998-1999)
3. one in Brasil (2006)

Small problem: Liliana Abud, Mejía's favourite writer wrote the script of EPDA. I don't know how she could adapt the same story again.

Mejía wants to remake Cuna de lobos very much, but it's going to be an American/Mujeres asesinas type series, 13 episodes/season. It needs more time and preparations. On the other hand, the other producers are tired, they don't want to make more telenovelas this year, so it seems, Mejía'll have the primetime timeslot again, and it means he'll have to delay his precious Cuna again.

As for the horario changes: although Pasion also had bad ratings it stayed at 9 o'clock. But times change, nowadays the rivals like Telemundo are stronger. Univision can't afford losing its advertisers.
