Corazon Salvaje, Tuesday, June 1: Ep 73--Another bastard in the family

Well, the upside of coming home to no Dueña on my DVR is that I can devote all my attention to Corazon Salvaje tonight. I only pray it's worth it.

Mariela lets Jimena know that she knows what's up between her and Gabe. And she won't take that whole "he's White, I'm a Gypsy" crap for an excuse. Well, Jime says that's because she's never been hated for being who she is, had rocks thrown at her, had to be for a little tenderness or understanding. Mariela agrees, but says she's suffered the loss of a daughter who would be about Jimena's age and maybe would even have looked like her. So she'll talk to Jime as if she were her own daughter: "Don't let love and happiness go, my daughter." Jimena likes being called her daughter. No one has talked to her as sweetly before. If she'd had her mom, she figures mom would have talked to her like that. Well, Mariela is willing to call her daughter as much as she has to for Jimena to feel like she has a mom and for Mariela to feel like she has a daughter--even if they both know they're faking it.

Gabe runs into Branko. He refuses to give him the address where Jimena's working and suggests that Branko just wait for her to go home. He refuses to answer Salma's accusations, since he doesn't even know her. Gabe says he's got to get back to work. Branko reminds him a white boy can't date a Gypsy girl. Those Gypsies like to keep it pure, ya know. Gabe says he loves her and if they decide to be together no one will keep them apart. Branko says Jime already picked him and it can't be undone. Ever . EVER. Gabe winks at him insolently and leaves.

Rod figures the sheriff won't do anything because he hasn't been paid, so he will have to kill Juan himself. Seriously? After all these years he's going to get his own hands dirty? I'll believe that when I see it.

Rod talks to a couple of shady characters about attacking Juan at 10 outside the casino. Um, Rod, that's not doing it yourself.

Aimee fusses and fumes in the Love Cave. Juan wants her to break up with Renato already. He laughs at the idea that Ren would kill her. Aimee repeats his threats. She says everything is on his side and she'd rather let Juan kill her himself than throw herself on the rocks by breaking up with Ren. She says her only sin is her love for Juan. Juan calls BS and says all she has is fear. He didn't think she was so cowardly. Aimee whines. Juan says if he leaves with her it won't be in secret. If he takes her, she's going to have to be willing to face every danger and if not, he's no longer interested in her.

Rosenda cogitates. She's sure Juan DD's mom is alive, and if so that's a valuable secret. She wonders where MdR could be.

Sobbing over her dead baby doll, pondering her own mortality. She decides to go looking for Juan de Dios to leave with him. She kisses the baby doll and gets up. She tells JDD she wants to go with him. JDD's face appears in the moon.

Arcadio realizes Juan is MdR's son. He realizes the jig is up for the Montes de Oca's, but that also means he's in danger himself. He wishes he hadn't told Rosenda anything. He wonders how to keep her quiet.

Rosenda visits Rod. He's bitchy. Rosenda is happy about the easy access to Juan. He brushes her off and she actually says "but we love each other." He reacts predictably and then throws her out. And still she begs for a little of his fallen wood. They suck face and Leonarda busts them.

Regina talks to Clem about Juan. She gets it now. She lets Clem know that she went to visit her aunt's grave and tell her that Juan is alive and ask forgiveness on behalf of her dad. She hopes MdR can rest in peace now. Clem says she just went to remind Aimee about her promise to watch over them always and that even though she loves Juan, she won't let them betray Renato. Regina says she should have been married to Renato, damnit, not Federico. She's sure she'll be unhappy with him. She'd run away if she had more spine, but she doesn't want to put daddy's health in jeopardy. Reggietells her that Leo confessed to always being in love with Rod. Clem says that's been the cause of every bad thing that has happened in that house. True dat. Well, halfway true at least, the other half being Rod's "love" for MdR.

Leo calls Rosenda a "mujerzuela" (slut). Rod tries to calm her down, but she's on a tear. Rod asks if she wants the whole world to know. He tells Rosenda to leave and holds Leo back from going after her. She rants that she's given him everything and this is how he repays her. Rod asks who she thinks he is to disapprove of him. "I love you!" "Yeah, well, I never loved you and I never will. It was only pity sex." Well, that's basically what he says. She's brokenhearted. "You can't imagine what I've done for you." He doesn't care, and threatens to leave and go back to Europe with Reggie's money. The stupid bitch begs him not to go and to stay by her, even if he doesn't love her.

Juan tells Gabe the dinner was good for all. No one has to lie about who they are anymore. Juan thinks Noel and Renato are the only noble ones in the family. He says he refused to take the half of the finca that Renato offered. Gabe asks about Aimee. Well, about that. Juan is confused. He was just with her and she insisted on running off. He doesn't know if he will or not. His feelings haven't changed, but he doesn't want to betray Renato. Gabe says he hopes whatever Juan decides, it's what's right for him. Not like Gabe, suffering over Jimena because she's engaged to Branko. Juan is agitated by this news. Gabe declares he'll fight for her. Juan likes this news. Gabe says if Jimena accepts him, they'll run off together. Juan supports this. Gabe is grateful for everything Juan has taught him. Gabe tells Juan that Jimena is keeping Mariela company. Juan hopes she finds her daughter because it's an incurable pain, losing a parent or a child.

Branko tells Jimena she's prettier than the moon. She doesn't like it. He says she'll learn to love him. They just need to pick a wedding date. Jimena doesn't want to rush things. Salma spies on them as Branko kisses Jimena. She imagines it's Gabe and gets into it, but then she opens her eyes and freaks out. She says she needs time, she can't marry him until she's sure about her feelings. Then she runs off. Branko and Salma are grumpy.

Leonarda finds Rosenda in the kitchen. She smacks her around some more. "I warned you and you ignored me! You betrayed me! Get out now!" She refuses. But the secret isn't worth anything anymore. Rosenda says she knows about Juan's mom. Leo goes ballistic. Rosenda starts gagging and runs off to throw up. Leo realizes she's pregnant. She uses "preñada" which I was told in my college Spanish classes was a rude way of saying it, because it's how you say that an animal is pregnant. She realizes it's Rod's little woody.

Rosenda goes running to Rod and tells him they've got to talk. He brushes her off, but she says she is someone to him--she's his baby mama. Rod doesn't believe her, or so he says. He says she's always been a slut and she's not going to pin the baby on him. Rosenda claims he's been the only one. Rod throws her out despite her pleading. My, my, that Rod's certainly got a way with the ladies. Rod looks intrigued by the idea of a child.

Jimena thinks about Gabe. She can't love Branko! Her heart belongs to Gabe. Salma comes to bitch her out for leading Branko on. She wants her to leave Branko, but she can't. "We're engaged and I have to keep my word." "Even at the cost of your happiness?" Salma flounces off.

Rosenda goes to Arcadio for help. Um, yeah, that's going to go over well. She wants to know MdR's whereabouts so she can keep blackmailing Leo. Arcadio says she was stupid to throw the secret out like that. She begs some more. He says he doesn't give a crap about her or her fate. She's boring him already, so he throws her out.

Rosenda cries in the hallway. She asks God why he's abandoned her. I'm not touching that one. Then she asks for help.

MdR is having a hard time leaving the dead baby doll. Rosenda finds her cell and lets herself in. MdR shows her the dead baby doll. Rosenda asks "Who are you? Are you Arcadio's wife?" MdR says she only had one love, Juan de Dios. "He was a humble fisherman, but Rodrigo had him thrown in jail and Leo locked me up here for years." MdR asks for help to escape. Rosenda realizes she's Juan del Diablo's mom and…we'll find out what she does after the commercial break.

Or not.

Leo gripes Rod out some more for sleeping with the help. And impregnating the help. Another bastard in the family, she laments. Well, Rod says she can't prove anything. "People won't care!" Leo reminds him everybody hates him right now anyway, so of course people will talk. She wonders how Feddy will react to the scandal. Will he still want to be part of the family? Rod says they've got to keep Rosenda quiet the same way they kept the old Dr. Miranda quiet. He says she's got to be kept from opening her mouth. Leo says she'll help, for everyone's good. They'll get rid of her, definitively (oh? As in, not the way I "got rid of" Maria del Rosario?).

Clemencia asks Rosenda, in the kitchen, what she plans to do. Rosenda says she'll leave the finca. Clem says "I told you so." Rosie takes that gracefully. She doesn't feel so bad. She's got a way to destroy the Montes de Oca's. Clem will find out how soon enough. Rosenda doesn't know what to do right at the moment, though, but she's not afraid of anything. Clemencia gives her an encouraging smile before she goes. After Rosie leaves, Clem ponders her words and wonders what she means.

Arcadio is shocked at being asked to kill Rosenda. He grudgingly admits he doesn't have an objection. But he reminds them it's the second murder they've asked of him, the first being the old Dr. Miranda. Leo says he'll be well compensated. Ew. Arcadio says he's faithful, and as such, they'd better not forget it. He leaves and Leo holds out her hand for Rod to shake. They both avoid each other's eyes.

Gabe finds Jimena walking through a field in the middle of the night. He puts his hand over her mouth so she won't scream. Then he puts his mouth over her mouth. Oh, there was some talking, but who cares. He suggests they get out of there, like now! Somewhere no one will judge them. Go, you idiot. She hesitates. He tells her to pack. No, no packing, just leaving please. She agrees to go wherever he wants. More kissing. "No one will stop our love." Famous last words, kids. More kissing. Um, if they don't stop that they'll run out of night to run away in.

A dude reports to the sheriff that the Luzbel is back in port. The sheriff says for the guy to round up the crew of the boat that was attacked so they can identify Juan del Diablo. Hench dude figures Rodrigo will pay good money for that. Um, have these guys not heard the news? About Rod's wood?

Rod sits in his carriage, checking his watch. He expects that his hired thugs will off Juan at 10.

Rosie walks along the road with her giant suitcase, getting scared at every noise. Arcadio smashes her from behind with a rock. So far, she's got blood running out of one ear. He goes through her suitcase and extracts everything of value he finds, then tosses the clothes out. He figures his job is done and tells her "dead" body he's sorry and he did like her. I bet she's not dead. Amnesia, maybe?

Tomorrow: We're getting to a "decisive" chapter. Whatever. Wake me up when we get there. Although, ok, Rosenda and Rod getting busted was marginally exciting.

Seriously? She couldn't have just grabbed Maria del Rosario and said "I know where your baby is"? Was that too much to ask. Ok, yes, I know. Beanie.

Thank you, Kat!

"No one will stop our love." Famous last words, kids.

:-DD

Was that too much to ask. Ok, yes, I know. Beanie.

If this TN was logical and coherent, it wouldn't be a Mejía-Abud production. :-)

I like the bonding between Mariela and Jimena. I raise my hat to Aimee again.
Reggie's martyrdom's wearing out of my patience, but I have to remind myself that she could be hundred times worse. *cough, Slowfía del FELS, cough, cough*
But plehehease change her hairstyle.

New pix : Salma, Branko and Servando.

Thanks Kat!

Well there goes my theory from yesterday that deep down Arcadio had a bit of good in him. Whoo Boy. I was wrong! But he did say he liked Rosenda. So maybe he didn't bash her as hard with the rock as he could have. I guess there's that.

I must say I rather enjoyed seeing Leo finally realize Rod just ain't into her. Never has been and never will be. You were just pity sex Leo, and not good pity sex either. And still you beg him to stay... I can't think of two characters that deserve each other more.

Kat: I really enjoyed your recap. It was wonderful as always. While your terrific humor is always evident "still she begs for a little of his fallen wood", "Sobbing over her dead baby doll, pondering her own mortality. enjoyed" was very touching.

When Leo threw Rosenda out, the logical thing would have been for her to go straight to Juan and tell him his mother is still alive. But, I don't think that occurred to her because she's always of the mindset in doing what would benefit her. That would have been sweet but unprofitable revenge.

MdR really seems to be giving up hope. I'm also totally exasperated that Juan is still infatuated with Aimee. Dude, she will never leave Renato. Get over it and get over to Reggie so the real romance will start.

I'm still completely baffled as to any attraction Rod poses for the opposite sex. xintperuvian, you are so right. Leo and Rod deserve each other.

Aribeth, great pictures - particularly of Gabe and Jimena.

Diana

Thanks for the recap Kat. Loved it. I'm not a big fan of Rosenda but she doesn't deserve getting smashed on the back of the head with a rock. Will she wake up and find herself at the Can Can't Club? Will her mom take her in? I guess we have to wait and see.

Why can't somebody bash Rod on the back of the head?

Connie: I think you hit the nail on the head (so to speak). Rosenda will have to go to her mother - which I'm sure she'll detest but she has no other options.

Diana

Thank you Kat for this wonderful recap.

Aribeth -- I've learned with Mejia-Abud novelas, beanies are a must have item.

So, Rosie is now pregnant and out wandering alone down the dark country road. Wonder which fisherman will find her and help her. I think Arco is repeating his actions. Isn't this similar to how Remi found Juan as a baby so many years ago?

Jody :)

Thanks for the recap Kat. Sorry to hear about your DVR mishap. I too wish Rosie had grabbed MdR but alas the latter is still a captive. I also hope that you are right and Rosie isn't dead.

Again, great pics Aribeth!

Xlntperuvian - Orca did seem to be turning a corner but filthy lucre won out. And ITA with Jody regarding Rosie being found alive. She'll probably have amnesia (please noooooo).

Connie - Yes someone needs to hit Rod in the head soon.

Diana - "I'm still completely baffled as to any attraction Rod poses for the opposite sex." Spot On!

Jody- It was Rosie's dad, not Orca, who abandoned baby Juan. That's how she found out that secret originally.

Kat- I stayed up late after the two hour STuD premier last night and watched this. So sorry you didn't get a chance to recap StuD- I would have loved to hear your snarky style on that- but glad you could still do Salvaje. I am amazed you will be doing both on the same night!

Diana:
I'm still completely baffled as to any attraction Rod poses for the opposite sex.

+1
Although I like I-Slept-Through-This-Telenovela Enrique (b. 1942), who was really Hot Rod eons ago, I'm very sorry that César Évora (b. 1959) had to left the production (some health issues). He would've been a really badass and desireable villain, in spite of his weight.

So, will we have a jump in time anytime soon, so that Rosie can appear as pregnant as the actress is in real life? She'd probably like to not be hidden behind huge slabs of watermelon anymore. :)

Aribeth: I didn't know César Évora was originally cast as Rod! He's one of my favorites. Women being drawn to him (despite the character) is something I could understand. He is a captivating, scene chewing villian for sure. I saw parts of La Madrastra and he was evil incarnate there.

Diana

Jody, I was wondering who will be the one to find Rosenda and my first thought was Remegio, too! Maybe he is the "finder of lost souls" on this TN. First Juan, then LuLu, next Rosenda?

I was also wondering why Clemencia never told her to hide out until daylight. You would think Clem would realize it's not safe for a pregnant woman to be out walking alone at night.

I noticed that the necklace Arcadio took from Rosenda's suitcase was the Virgin medallion that Renato gave Aimee. Yet another incriminating necklace. Seems to be a theme in this TN.

Enjoyed your recap, Kat, some very funny asides!

xlntperuvian, I guess we were both wrong about Arcadio, but somehow I still think he might be redeemable. He did say he was sorry to/about Rosenda.

I thought Clem would tell Rosie she should go to her mom. But I guess they needed the scene with the rock, and amnesia is a good bet, darn it.

Talk about obsession, Leo still won't give up on Rod, still begging for something from him. ITA his appeal to women is hard to believe, he's sucha nasty piece of work.

"Aimee fusses and fumes in the Love Cave" LOL! Great description of her behavior. I don't like that Juan is still into her, sort of, but at least he is demanding that she prove herself and I think he suspects she won't be able to.

"It was Rosie's dad, not Orca, who abandoned baby Juan. That's how she found out that secret originally." Thank you Vivi for the the reminder/correction.

Jody :)

Aribeth really Cesar was going to play Arcadio? It had to be his health because i heard somewhere else he was very sick for awhile it couldn't have been about his weight? I mean have you seen how huge like Free Willy Salvador Pineda looks? He was already a big boned guy and a former weight lifter now he's just let himself go in old age.

After seeing Cesar in EBDA i never saw what he looked like younger but i guest he's acquired his middle aged spread.

Anon: no, he was going to play Hot Rod, not Orca. :-) He used to be Mejía's favourite actor, and he almost participated in FELS, too (as the dad of the Elizondo girls).
He left CS long before the first shooting day because he had hernia (?). I'm not sure about that.
And originally Victoria Ruffo was casted as MDR, but she said that she didn't want to play the mom of a 50 years old man. :-)

Oh, until 2004-2005 he was a sexy beast. :-) *fans herself* He's charismatic, funny and a very good actor, he would've been a great Rodrigo.

Aribeth, Cesar is just sexy and his voice alone makes me want to strip i could see how any woman would want to be with him if he got to play Rodrigo.

I'm LOL because Victoria Ruffo was smart enough not to take the part of being the mother of a guy who is 50 years old in real life. We were talking about on the Mi Pecado page how Valentino Lanus was almost given the Julian role but Sabinne Moussier turned down the role of Justina because she had played his lover in what was it Amar sin Limites?

Great recap Kat, as usual your humor is unbeatable. About Rod, he has this silence of the lamb thing going on and as you all know some ladies find that irresistible. How is killing Rosenda going the help the two villians and why is Jaun still interested in Aimee? The woman keeps disappointing him and he can't get enough.Idiot!!!Look elsewhere for attention.
Hanna,Md

Anon:
"because she had played his lover in what was it Amar sin Limites"

LOL! Yeah, I think I read about this Sabine-Valentino story. And what about Armando Araiza (40)? He played Daniela Castro's (40) boyfriend in El noveno mandamiento, and now he's Lucrecia's contemporary? :-)

Btw, Yanez and Flores DID play lovers in 1984:
Tu eres mi destino
:-)

Nevertheless, I love the MDR-Juan scenes, they're both good actors. Especially Laura, she's awesome.

Aribeth it's hard for us Mi Pecado fans to stomach Armando Araiza not only in the looks department but he over acts too darn much.

I don't think i ever saw that Yanez novela?

I don't know anyone who saw that telenovela, and I can't find it anywhere. :-) I guess it's completely forgotten. (Though it was an Ernesto Alonso, and the producer of CS93 directed it.)

"it's hard for us Mi Pecado fans to stomach Armando Araiza"

I can imagine how you feel, I've seen episodes from the telenovela and he irritated me much. I haven't seen the whole production yet, but I'm very curious since it's written by the great Blanco-Pena-Medina trio.
And the "older" generation (Daniela, Sabine, Francisco, Sergio, Roberto...) of the telenovela seem to be magnificent.

Aribeth the veteran actors are doing a wonderful job in their roles even the villains but Armando and his acting Blech!!! The story is engaging and it's moving along real quick i guess because it's only 110 episodes long. We just wished the producer had chosen someone much younger than Armando as Carmelo and who can act.

Maybe Cute Doc will nurse Rosie back to health and he, she and the baby will be a happy family. Of course, she will need a new personality but then she might repent her old blackmailing ways. Otherwise, who else is there for the Doc?

Kat, you always are hilarious.."still she begs for his fallen wood." If Leo had learned to knock instead of bursting through Rod's doors, Rosenda might had had more success with old Rod's wood.

GinCA

Thanks, Kat. So...if Rosie survived that rock to the head, where will she end up...the doctor's, mama's Can Can't Club or Juan's Home for Wayward Mujerzuelas ???? I love to watch Woody and Leo's world unravel. Just can't wait for Woodster to find out that Leo tricked him way back when and MdR has been locked in the finca cellar all these years. That should be great.

Kat, thanks for the recap. Some great bits in this episode. That special medallion should come back to haunt Rosenda, assuming she survives.
La Paloma

Good lord, Kat! When I saw your, "Oh no, no Duena!" post, I was wondering if we'd lost you for Salvaje, and now I see you're doing both? You are a woman of much talent and bravery!

...unlike, say, Aimee.

Give Jime hell, Mariela! Or, you know, gentle but insistant pushing in the right direction. That was a nice scene.

Fight for your woman, Gabe! Branko, you... You come over here with us. We'll make you forget all about Jimena. (Gabe's little wink there was just fan-tastic. That, I'll finally let him have that gold star for.)

JDD's face appears in the moon.

And if this was really a show with fanservice, Juan's moon would appear in the moon.

...what?

Rod's never had to do anything himself (including, apparantly, himself). He probably thinks the act of hiring someone is taking care of it himself.

Rod: "Love? Que the hell? Get out of here, you loopy ho!"
Rosie: "You cannot resist the power of BOOB!"
Rod: "Crap, she's right."

It's too bad he stopped that Leonarda/Rosenda catfight from breaking out - I really don't know who would have won that one!

Leo gripes Rod out some more for sleeping with the help.

Instead of her.

And impregnating the help.

Instead of her - crap, I just made myself sick.

Tonight, on Everyone Hates Rosie('s Boobs):

Rod is tired of Rosie's boobs, but instead of throwing them out like he should, gets a handful anyway - and then throws them out.

Leo realizes Rosie's boobs have lured Rod's wandering eyes and wood, and throws them out.

Rod loses interest in Rosie's boobs now that they're soon to fall prey to the ravages of braless Victorian baby time, and throws them out.

Arcadio, having never been interested in Rosie's boobs, throws them out - then tries to kill them.

I'm trying to decide if leaving her on the road - where she might be discovered - was a dumb move on his part, or a calculated one. Lovely young set of boobs walking alone at night, ripe for being attacked - could have been anyone, right? Might be suspicious if she just turned up missing. It'll surely come back to haunt him now, though.

I just can't get on the bandwagon for her to end up with Doctorcito right now - she's just been soo horrible, and she'll have to undergo some major redeeming for me to think she's good enough for him. I was really hoping even she couldn't be cruel enough to consider using MdR to her own selfish ends. So much for that. The perfect revenge, if you ask me, would have been to lead Maria Loca straight to Juan and let a little hell break loose.

Mad Marley~~You crack me up. I get a kick out of your perspective. Hub [who does not want to get involved in this show], took one look at Rosie after Archie rocked her and said, ''I'll bet she's not dead.'' Yawn...I can't stay up for the show, so I'll find out who finds Rosie tomorrow when I read the recap. Will she recuperate in The House of Hos or with kind doctorcito ??? Will she have amnesia? In a long shot of Rosie in the finca kitchen, you could see that the actress is definitely pregnant for realz. I thought of Jimena in MEPS hiding her baby bump behind huge purses and vases etc.
