Corazon Salvaje, Tuesday, June 15: Ep 82--Check fake pregnancy off your bingo card.

It sounds like Regina's going to be something of a communal wife for the sailors. No, not like that. After a discussion about how best to meet her needs, Juan decides to send Pedro and Eusebio back to shore to get lots of fresh fruit and veg, meats, etc. And also clothes. Um, seriously? Are you sure that's a good idea? Santos doesn't think so. Juan's all, "What? You've never bought women's clothes before?" Um, no, dude. Well, actually Pedro did buy his girlfriend some ribbons for her hair one time. And a shawl! "Yes, exactly, a shawl! Cause it gets cold out here!" Welcome to the Juan del Diablo school for wayward bachelors. He asks the guys to be careful when they go. Pedro finally gets the idea to go back to Jacinta's hut and have her do the shopping for them. Juan says when they get back, they're headed to Peñon del Diablo! Looks are exchanged. The guys refrain, manfully, from rolling their eyes, though Remigio looks like he'd like to give Juan a good hearty smack!

The sherrif inspects the body Branko found and is startled when one hand flops out of the sheet and touches him. He announces to Branko that they won't be able to identify her due to her disfigured face, so she'll have to be buried in a "fosa común". He finds it curious that Branko was the one to find her. Dude, seriously? Your CSI skills leave much to be desired. Branko says he didn't kill her and all the crap they say about his people are a bunch of lies. After all, there are murdering Whiteys and they don't go around saying all Whiteys are murderers. Whatever, the sherrif is still going to investigate Branko's ENTIRE community. Branko says if they find him guilty he'll pay the price, but he knows he didn't do it.

Arcadio tells Leo that they found Mirta's body, but they couldn't identify her, so she's going in the communal grave. No, they haven't found MdR yet. Leo won't be able to rest until she knows MdR has been found and buried. Arcadio bubbles that he's got to find MdR postehaste!

Jacinta covers MdR in a white cloth and says no one will recognize her. She'll walk MdR to the church and let her stay there while she goes to the market. But only if MdR promises not to move from the church. MdR agrees.

Rod has been wondering some stuff that he needs cleared up. He thinks Arcadio knows why Renato is being all crazy-like, based on Renato giving Arcadio his job back. Leo eggs him on…"Yes, Arcadio, tell us what happened." Arcadio says a letter came into his hands, a letter from Aimee to…Juan del Diablo. Rod and Leo are impactados!

Noel asks Renato what he hopes to accomplish with his newfound alcoholism. Renato just wants to take his mind off of stuff. "Stuff? Like being upset about not wanting to share with Juan? Or going to the sherrif to tell him to go after Juan? And what would you accuse him of? He's a man who took his wife on a honeymoon cruise!" Renato suggests maybe they'll tell the sherrif about Juan's other little adventures on the high seas. He calls Juan a "pobre diablo" who was too afraid to tell him the truth because he was afraid Renato would kill him. I paused the DVR right when Noel had a look on his face like Renato's breath was killing him. Don't light a match, dude. Caution! Renato is highly flammable! Keep away from open flames! Noel says it hurts to see him like this. He asks him to quit drinking so he can think clearly. Renato says he can't blame the drink for what Juan has done to him. "I can accept that you don't know EVERYTHING, but I can't believe you don't know ANYTHING!" Noel starts to take his leave, but Renato wants Noel to help him come up with a way to squeeze more money out of his land. "Isn't that what you have Arcadio for? To mistreat the workers?"

Rod screams for Aimee. The shit hath hitteth the fan…ith. Rod says someone told them everything. Leo backs him up. Rod says they can't understand where Aimee is hiding her mask. She keeps playing dumb. Leo says Arcadio told them about a letter.

"Que suden oro para mis arcas," declares Renato. Well, son, that's what we call "exploitation." Renato says he needs money to make a woman want him more than anyone else, and if that's the only thing he can do to make her love him, then he has all the right in the world to want more money, no matter who has to suffer for him to get it.

The confrontation of Aimee continues. She continues her denial. Rod has figured out the truth. Leo throws it in her face that she was Juan's "amante."

Reggie washes her face, still in her habit, but out of her veil. She takes the habit off, but is still more than decently covered. Juan comes in without knocking and says he doesn't have to knock to come into his own cabin where his own wife is! "I'm only your wife out of obligation." Tough noogie, says Juan. Reggie complains there's nowhere for her to change. Juan says he'll do something about it. He grabs a sheet off the bed and nails it up to the wall.

Jimena looks at a basket of yarn. Gabe comes in. She's sad and he doesn't like it. He says they're leaving soon. Jimena agrees they'll be happy, but she doesn't want to leave Mariela. Gabe proposes to distract her with a walk after work. Jimena refuses. She doesn't want to run into Branko or her aunt. Gabe says they'll go somewhere where there's no one else around and "disfrutamos de nuestro amor" which sounds like code for "do it."

Juan finishes using the nail and some cord to make a curtain so that Reggie has a private place to change. Then he invades the curtained space and tells her he can fulfill all her desires. If she wanted, he'd make her his, but he won't do it by force. Sounds like a challenge to me. He goes back to his desk while Reggie rearranges her curtains.

Well, there's definitely some loveplay on the beach with Gabe and Jimena. Where did he find a private beach? He uses his sword to draw something in the sand, then they play in the water. He dives in repeatedly to get shells. They're really both just too, too pretty. He made a big shell design with their initials in concentric hearts (can hearts be concentric?).

Pedro and Remigio go to Jacinta's hut, but she's not there. He proposes they have a snack while they wait. Remi reminds him that Juan said to hurry, and to be careful. Pedro says they can't be careful and go shopping at the same time. Then he proposes they go in drag to go shopping.

Pedro and Remi go to the market all covered up in Jimena's clothes. Remi doesn't think it will work, but gets nervous when he sees soldiers and pitches his voice up higher. Pedro has some trouble with the gender of his adjectives. A vendor flirts with him, calling him "chaparrita," and inviting him to have a drink. The vendor likes difficult women! Pedro says he'd better respect him and then has to resort to lowering his voice a few octaves. Jimena recognizes him and has a good giggle. They start to leave and run into some soldiers, so they go the other way. Pedro says he'll explain.

A maid comes to tell Phillipe that someone's looking for him. He gets all excited and goes to answer the door, then shrieks and shuts it again. On Remi. In drag. He tells "her" they don't have any work available right now. Remi asks for Malu. Phillipe thinks he looks like a relative of Remigio's..no, wait, it is I, Remigio! Phillipe is shocked. "I've never seen a woman as ugly as you!" Remi begs Phillipe to let him talk to Malu. Remi debates whether he wants to leave the shawl up or down.

Aimee keeps claiming her innocence. She says it was a long time ago, in a weak moment. Rod smacks her around and calls her a mujerzuela. Rod threatens to kill her, but she says she's pregnant with Renato's baby and they'd be making the kid pay along with her. Aimee cries and says the baby's "sangre inocente de los Montes de Oca." Rod is shocked. Aimee says she's sure, she and Renato are expecting and that's why she's kept her mouth shut. Reggie did what she wanted to do, out of love for Renato. Leo is shocked. Aimee says made a mistake and she only loves Renato, with all her soul…and now she wants to die because she's not worthy of his trust! You go right ahead and die, sugar, I'd hate to stand between you and anything you really want.

Renato paces downstairs. He pours himself another drink. Clem begs him to stop drinking. Renato says it's the only way he can handle what's happening--the lies, the hypocrisy, the fakeness. Clem reminds him of what a nice, bland sucker he used to be. Ren says that's over. Clemencia says he's so bitter, when he used to be full of love. "Love. What's love? Love is something that governs us, governs our spirits, and invites us to be generous. But when love is gone and hate traps us, it enslaves us, making us get to know our dark side." Renato says it's a suspicion, the suspicion that he's been betrayed, that's why he's drinking. To be able to survive it. He now decides drinking out of the bottle would be more efficient.

Aimee says she can't take it anymore. She's going to go tell Renato and let him kill her. Leo stops her from leaving. She won't let Aimee hurt Renato further. She's tired of hearing Aimee whine about "her" life…her life belongs to someone else now! Leo blames herself for letting Aimee get her hooks into Renato. Rod refuses to take Aimee with him. Leo says Aimee's going to follow Leo's orders from now on! She will live only for Renato. She'll be like a slave. Aimee weeps and tries to get someone to feel sorry for her, but that ain't gonna happen. She complains about being Renato's slave. Rod says he agrees with Leo. Renato starts yelling for Aimee and she squeals and begs for help. Leo and Rod decide to go talk to Ren and agree he shouldn't know the truth. They leave Aimee to her weeping.

MdR prays to the Virgencita. She remembers almost marrying Juan.

Renato shouts for Aimee. Leo and Rod come in. He doesn't want to stay and listen to them, but Rod says he has to. "Your wife is feeling indisposed." Leo says they've got to talk to him about the "truth" he's been looking for. Rod says Aimee has never cheated on him and never lied to him. That she loves him, only lives for him, and is desperate because of the way he's been treating her. So she's hidden something important from him…that she's pregnant with his baby. Ren is shocked. He can't believe it. Leo says that's why Aimee is suffering so much. Leo gets on him about his drinking. Ren says it hasn't helped him anyway, he's still just as crabby. Rod says he's obligated to consider that he's going to be a dad, so he needs to get himself straightened out already!

Juan knocks on the door to the cabin, but Reggie doesn't like how he knocked. She asks why they're waiting. Juan says she doesn't care, does she? Juan goes to lie down on his bed, but Reggie is scandalized by it and won't lie down with him. She gets very upset at him making out with the pillow and beats him with it. He finally says he won't stay, he just wanted to see how she reacts. She throws things at the door and screams that she hates him. Juan's really getting a kick out of all this. Reggie keeps shouting that she hats him and he's a savage. She throws some things around in proper Montes de Oca fashion.

Fosa común=communal grave
Impactados=shocked…but really, it's more fun to just leave it in Spanish. It's a Caray, Caray! thing. Can someone go into the history for us?
Pobre diablo=poor devil
Que suden oro para mis arcas=let them sweat gold for my coffers
Amante=lover
Disfrutamos de nuestro amor=we'll enjoy our love
Chaparrita=shorty (or "shawty" would work if that's how you roll)
Mujerzuela=slut
Sangre inocente de los Montes de Oca=innocent Montes de Oca blood
Virgencita=little virgin, affectionate term for the Virgen in one of her many incarnations
Montes de Oca=wild goose? Seriously?

Good night, all...or should I say, good morning!

Good morning Kat. As soon as I read the title, I knew this would be stellar and it was. You were on fire, noting every highlight of this episode which ran the gamut from fun to heartwretchingly grim. The embedded vocabulary and list are appreciated.

So many wonderful lines, included "The shit hath hitteth the fan…ith" and my favorite "Welcome to the Juan del Diablo school for wayward bachelors". Excellent!

First, the good. Juan was sweet and endearing with Regina. Dividing the bedroom with a curtain was reminiscent of "It Happened One Night". We all know how that turned out! :)

Next, the bad. Renato. "He now decides drinking out of the bottle would be more efficient". Renato seems to be channeling Arcadio more each day. His hunched stance, the drinking, the pitiful antics. Ack.

Finally, the ugly. "No, they haven't found MdR yet. Leo won't be able to rest until she knows MdR has been found and buried. Arcadio bubbles that he's got to find MdR postehaste!" Hoping Juan will find her before Arcadio.

Looks like Aimee is on a spiraling downward at rapid speed. I don't know where her storyline is going but her future appears very ominous.

Diana

Hi Kat. Diana and I are always on the same page. Love the title. You and Maggie are the winners in my unofficial title contest...you two always come up with great ones.

I also loved the "Que suden oro para mis arcas. Well, that's what we cal 'exploitation', son." Too funny. Plus "arca" is a new word for me. Thanks.

Also laughed at 'Clem reminds him of what a nice bland sucker he used to be.".

Don't know where your day job is, Kat, but you're the kind of gal I would have loved to share office space with back in the day. Lunch breaks, coffee breaks, whatever, you would have made going to work great fun!

Thanks, Kat. [Thanks also to Jeri for yesterday's great recap. You guys are great.] Like, Judyb, I'd love to work with you all. I haven't seen the last 2 episodes yet. Reallife with the job, family, and picking out toilets and tile and countertops and tubs is cutting into my fantasytime with Juan. Bummer. Anyhoo, I , too, loved the title. Your wit and wisdom is always appreciated. This show just gets better and better. It's interesting watching the cookies crumble.

Thanks for the great recap Kat. I think I'm finally caught up on CS. I turned on my recording this morning and all I got was a news program or something. I was afraid the show had been preempted. Glad to know it wasn't.
Now I have to get caught up on STuD. See you all later.

Kat- Your recaps always make me laugh, no matter what happened in the show. :) Well, well, Aimee's little world is starting to crumble. Her sis is off on the high seas with HER man, doing Lord knows what. Her doting dad and tia now know she's a lying ramera and will treat her as such. And her formerly loving husband wants to kill her (or at least beat her). You know what they say about karma Aimee...

Yes, Gabe and Jimena so want to "do it"- their make out sessions are pretty intense. Not sure why they haven't already since Jimena doesn't have any Christian guilt about it all.

Thanks very much, Kat! I will go and listen to the recap post haste.

P.S. mad busy bess, I would love to take credit for yesterday's recap, but that honor goes to Ivy. :-) I wrote a vacation-makeup recap over the weekend, which may be confusing...

P.P.S. In regard to Paula's "Care and Feeding of a Recapper," I'd like to thank all our many regular reader/commenters who are so generous with their feedback. Thank you!

(Sorry for the triple post! Still asleep.)

Btw, there's no accent in Montes de Oca, so it would be just "monte," plural.

I think of them as the Goosehills. ::shrug::

Kat, I just realized that you recapped two TN last night. You are a real trooper. Thank you.

Yes, Aimee is about over the edge, shall we all give her a little push.

Rosemary

Good morning Kat and thank you for the wonderful, entertaining recap. CS seems to be getting better and better with every episode.

Renato is an idiot -- wonder if he realizes how much of a macho idiot he really is? He got himself into a marriage with Aimee and now he blames Juan for ruining it.

I couldn't believe it -- Aimee was still hoping her tears and her imagination would get leniancy with her dad and Auntie Leo. Geesh! (At that moment, I really wanted Renato to enter and slap her.)

Santos and Remiglio -- too funny. Comedy relief at its best!

Loved Juan's solution to Reggie's privacy complaint - string the bed sheets across the middle of the room.

Jody :)

Thanks for the recap Kat. And your title gave me a chuckle as well.

It was interesting to me how Rod and Leo (two wicked peas in a pod) immediately realized Aimee is a ho and she wasn't able to bs her way out of it. Evil recognizing evil. Ironically if she hadn't come up with the fake pregnancy, they may have fed her to the wolf (Renato). It will be amusing to see how Aimee tries to cover her behind on this as it doesn't seem that Renato will sleep with her.

Thank you, Kat! I haven't had a chance to read the recap yet, but I love the title.

My reaction to the newest "Jimena + Gabriel + beach and/or a huge heart" scene: link
(I know, I'm mean. :))

Why didn't either Leo or Rod immediately suspect Aimee was pregnant with JUAN's child, since they know she's a lying ramera?

And nice of Rod NOT to have any concern about Reggie, since he now knows it was AIMEE who was fooling around with Juan, not REGINA. Oh well, he's got Reggie's dough, that's all she was good for.

So how will Aimee conjure up a "Renato baby?" If she's not already pregnant how will she get pregnant? Renato's not going to touch her and Juan's off on the high seas with Regina.

And really how would Aimee know whose baby (if she were pregnant) it was since she sleeps with Juan ten minutes after sleeping with Renato? And wouldn't Renato, Leo and Rod always doubt whose baby it was?

And wouldn't the Montes de Oca need to see Aimee showing? So I guess Celia will be making Aimee some special pillows to fake a pregnancy, huh?

Hmm, Noel is the only one at the finca who doesn't know Aimee is a ho. Everyone else does. I wonder how he will feel about his daughter in law when he finally finds out the truth?

I don't need to be Jimena or Griselda to foresee a trip down the finca stairs for Aimee to get rid of the "baby."

This episode was too, too funny, but your recap topped it! Smiled all the way through, beginning with the title.

Lo, how the flighty have fallen! I believe there's a big hole in the finca roof where an Aimee-anvil came through.

It looked like there were shout outs to some classic movies, with Juan hanging the sheets to divide the room and Remi and Pedro dressing as gals to go shopping. Those two in the market place were wonderful. Juan really seems to enjoy messing with Regina's sense of propriety.

Gabe and Jimena sorta made me overdose on the cuteness. It had to take quite a few dives to collect all those shells, but I guess a man in love can do anything.
La Paloma

Kat how do you do it two in one night fantastic job.

I love novelas and it seems every novela now is giving us a new word to call a woman a slut. Mujerzuela.

Excellent recap Kat. So Aimee is digger herself deeper in the pit with no one to rescue her. In a way I felt sorry for her but she brought all this on herself. I hope MDr isn't discovered in the church. I would hate for her to be brought back to that awful place and Orca will kill her for sure since he already told Leo he killed and disfigured her face. Poor Mirta. I hope there will be justice for her. How long before Gabe and Jimena consumate the relationship? Not too long from the looks of things. Loving Juan and Regina. The sparks are flying for sure. I wonder how long will Regina be hostile toward him. Seems Juan's work is cut out for him in that department. I hope Renato will stop drinking. It's totally changed his personality. Like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Wonderful recap, Kat, so many funny lines!

This episode was pretty hilarious in itself, loved Santos and Remigio in drag, that was fantastic! I thought the vendor said he likes older women as well.

ITA that everyone should be suspicious that it is Juan's child and I wonder if the whole truth will come out since Aimee kept denying she had anything to do with Juan after she was married.

That scene with Regi and Juan was so fun, he is having a great time teasing her.

Gabe and Jimena, yes a bit much with the hearts again(gag).

Karen: "Evil recognizing evil. Ironically if she hadn't come up with the fake pregnancy, they may have fed her to the wolf (Renato)." Excellent!

Also, the show only aired for about 45 minutes so I suspect we missed some footage. Aribeth?

Diana

Kat, thanks for another great recap! I couldn't believe it was Arcadio who busted Aimee! Did not see that coming. Now "One-Night-Only Aimee" either has to get rid of the kid by having a "miscarriage" (a fall down the finca stairs??) or fake the pregnancy and buy/steal someone's baby (watch out Rosenda!)

Does anyone think Renato will buy Rod & Leo's story. He's drunk not stupid...

Don't you love Phillipe? Was he actually giving Remegio beauty hints?? That whole in-drag scene was very funny. I especially loved the "Tootsie" moment when Santos lowered his voice to threaten his unwanted suitor.

I laughed so hard at the scene when Reggie was taking off the habit - to see there's another tent underneath.

Diana, I too noticed the shortened time but thought that Uni removed commercials and played the full episode (though I could be wrong). And thanks for the compliment.

ITA w/you and Pirate Babe regarding MdR. I'm hoping the writers have tormented her enough and she'll stay with the fishermen until she and Juan discover one another. I'll truly be ill if Orca finds (and worse) kills her.

Hi Kat, thanks so much for your funny and informative recap. I just wanted to say thanks to all the people who blog and keep us up to date on our current telenovelas. Ever since univision switched the time on corazon salveje its been impossible for me to watch it every night. I know that there are a lot of people who love watching the FICA sports, but does anyone know what will happen to the daytime telenovelas that are interrupted? Will univision just start airing them and hope everyone remembers the story lines.

Thanks Kat for the great recap. You are a wonder.
I am so tired of Regina in that habit. I understand she felt like that was the only clothing she really owned so that was the excuse for wearing it when she left. But does she have to keep wearing that head thing? It will be interesting to see what type of clothes the guys bring back for her.
I agree about Aimee going down those stairs. It must be a rule that if there is a staircase somebody has got to go down them head first. I don't think Renato will sleep with her either, but he may get excited about the "baby" and give her another chance. Putting pillows in her dress will only work for so long.
I love seeing Regina and Juan together. They along with Colibri will make a great family.

Good afternoon Kat, do you ever sleep? Wow !! you bring it all back to life for me. I can't always stay up but the recaps are just fine by me. It is like reading a story.
Jaun and Regina are so good together.Their relationship,I hope is going to be based on friendship and love not lust.I loved the fake fight. Did Rod and sidekick just lie to a beloved MDO? Aime and Renato are going downhill fast aren't they?
Hanna

Diana:
"Also, the show only aired for about 45 minutes so I suspect we missed some footage."

My downloaded episode is 39 minutes long and it contains 2 minutes of "previously on CS" footage. I checked the scenes (matched them with the recap) and Uni didn't cut out anything.
Alas the episodes are getting shorter. I don't know why.

Thanks Karen and Aribeth!

I would hate to think we missed anything - particularly any scene Juan appears in! :)

You're right Aribeth. Last week several shows did end 4-5 minutes early. I wondered if it's simply becuase they're not running as many commercials in the midnight hour?

Diana

Kat, this is top notch. I'm still in awe. You are clearly superhuman.

I'm still a day and a half behind with CS. If this episode is even half as good as you make it sound, then I'm in for a real treat tonight when I get home.

Diana, I thought immediately of It Happened One Night as I read Kat's recap.

Carlos

Well, I finally read the recap and the comments, thank you all for them.

My favourite lines from the recap:

It sounds like Regina's going to be something of a communal wife for the sailors. No, not like that.
:))) Oh yeah, the pescadores like her much. But they obviously have no idea how women work, what they wear and so on. A bunch of virgin bachelors,, that's what they are. Except Juan de la Cueva del Coitos.

though Remigio looks like he'd like to give Juan a good hearty smack!
Come on, Remi, we're with you.

Welcome to the Juan del Diablo school for wayward bachelors.
:DDDDDDD

Your CSI skills leave much to be desired.

I paused the DVR right when Noel had a look on his face like Renato's breath was killing him. Don't light a match, dude. Caution! Renato is highly flammable! Keep away from open flames!

The shit hath hitteth the fan…ith.
This is hilarious.

I must be really bad because I enjoy watching Aimee's fall too much. I don't like the beatings, but I have no problem with some strangling, cursing and shouting. Finally she lost the support of Auntie and Daddy, hallelujah!
However, she survives. Again! What an exceptional woman.

where there's no one else around and "disfrutamos de nuestro amor" which sounds like code for "do it."

Clem reminds him of what a nice, bland sucker he used to be.
:DDDDDDDDD

that she's pregnant with his baby. Ren is shocked.
Pooooooor boy. That baby either doesn't exist or it could be Juan's. (I don't want to spread spoilers.)

Reggie, Juan and the pillow: I love it. La Paloma wrote yesterday that their scenes have a "Taming of the Shrew" vibe, and she's completely right.

Kat, thank you for the vocabulary!

Diana, La Paloma:
Yes, this episode seems to be chock full of scenes from It Happened One Night and Some Like It Hot. :) I call Pedro and Remigio simply Daphne and Josephine. They're adorable.

Thanks, Kat. I can't wait to watch this episode. I loved ''It Happened One Night'' and ''Some Like It Hot'' references. I am also seeing similarities to ''Gone With the Wind.'' Scarlett pined for wishywashy Ashley while Rhett was swashing his buckle right in front of her. In Amor Real, Matilde despised Manuel and wept for AdolfoSolis . In Alborada, Hippolita scorned The Mystery Boinker of Sanmta Rita. However, we all know that hate and distrust turns to love and devotion ...and they live happily ever after...Fin. P.s. As for that makeshift room divider, who's with me on peeking over it ...Show of hands ?

Thanks, Kat, you and Mr. 5 ft are a blast.

Now that Aimee saved her skin by telling another lie...what a surprise...she is going to have to use her thinking cap to get out of this one unless she really is preggers and doesn't know it. It had better be a good one because the NEW Renato is scaring me too. He can hardly wait to wring her little neck ( which seems to be an acquired family trait..Rod had his hands pretty tight around her neck, too.) Oh, and slapping seems to be a dominant trait in the genes as well, as we've mentioned before. Poor Renato can't handle the truth though he's sorta figured out most of it except that he doesn't know his mom and uncle are as homicidal as he is. Hope he learns that before he completely goes round the bend. Or maybe that will be the final betrayal.

I don't think Juan saw "It Happened One Night" because the sheet is supposed to go down the middle of the bed.
