Corazón Salvaje WED 2010-06-16: "OPERATION: Petticoat"
Episode 83
At Dr. Pablo's, Marlene and Rosenda bill and coo over pretty, hand-crocheted baby dresses Marlene brought for Rosenda. Rosenda is so pleased, she smiles and grasps Marlene's hands, asking why she's so good to her. Marlene says she's known Rosenda since she was very little and knows how much she's suffered. Rosenda marvels and asks how Marlene knew her.
Marlene knows her better than anyone, she says -- and her mother, as well. Her mother was a very humble girl; but also very ambitious, Marlene whispers. She dreamed of getting out of poverty so desperately that unfortunately she made a serious mistake. Rosenda glances down and admits thoughtfully, the same as she herself did.
Marlene rises and turns away, beginning to cry. Continuing, she says after this mistake, though, the mother committed another and then another. Returning to Rosenda, Marlene claims it's because of those mistakes that she's here with Rosenda in her mother's stead. Marlene will always be by Rosenda's side to care for her and protect her, she says -- and to prevent Rosenda making the same mistakes that she did.
Rosenda thanks her and touches Marlene's face, smiling the only open, unguarded smiles of her life so far. Rosenda thinks Marlene is so good; she wants her to know how grateful and appreciative she is. And she shyly admits that she's prayed often that when she finally meets her mother, she'll be as good as Marlene -- which delights Marlene. Mother and daughter embrace in tears and smiles.
At the casino, Remigio dressed as a woman has his head together with "Malu," explaining in hushed tones why they are still in port and that Regina was ill and needed the doctor. When Lulu doesn't understand his disguise, he tells her they're sure the guards will be out after them.
Remigio kisses her hands and earnestly admits he doesn't want to lie to her -- he doesn't like lies -- but it's probable the crew will be gone a long time. He promises he'll return as many times as possible, and perhaps one of those times, they can tie the knot -- and go away together?
To a wistful and melancholy theme, Lulu rises and turns away, worried. Remigio confuses this for indecision, wondering aloud if he's not really that important to her; but Lulu says she has a lot of things she needs to tell him before they go on with their relationship. Remigio rises and goes to her, insisting he already knows everything he needs to know about her -- that she's an innocent and pure girl.
And that that's why he loves her, he says. Lulu turns to look at him like her heart is breaking, and Remigio kisses her lingeringly, then tenderly and finally scorchingly. Enough to make Luis Gatica's wife jealous. And there is Phillip in the background, come upon them accidentally, getting a delighted eyeful and exclaiming to himself, Ooh, la la!
Back at Dr. Pablo's office, Clemencia enters to check on Rosenda's progress, and Pablo thinks now that her mother is taking such good care of her, Rosenda may even recover faster than they thought. This pleases Clemencia; but then Pablo drops the bomb that Regina was seriously ill shipboard, which sends Clemencia flying out the door on a determined mission to find a fisherman to take her to the Luzbel.
Next thing, Clemencia rushes into Leonarda's bed chamber, assuming she'll get permission to run to Regina. But Leonarda has definite other ideas. She's not going anywhere! When Clemencia asks if they're just going to abandon Regina to her fate, Leonarda hauls off and smacks Clemencia across the face. She's mad as hell that Clemencia knew all along about Aimee and Juan and didn't tell her!
Clemencia claims that Aimee knew and took all the risks, and there wasn't anything she could say. Leonarda replies that now it's Regina's turn to take the risks, and there's no going back. When Clemencia tries to defend Regina, Leonarda rages that the only victim here is her son! And she's not going to allow anybody to make him unhappy!
Clearly distressed, Leonarda strains to explain. Look, the only way she can forgive Aimee, she says, is if what happened was some craziness, some flirtation, some worthless fling! That the real guilty party was -- that, that bastard! Valiant Clemencia disagrees and sallies forth her view that Juan was glowing with happiness, thinking Aimee was faithful and loved him with all her heart!
Leonarda shouts that's enough! Here that bastard's feelings don't matter! She almost pleads, gesturing desperately, that in order to forgive Aimee, she must believe he was the only guilty one...because Aimee's expecting Renato's child. Clemencia is almost shocked into silence, and Leonarda continues: so the only one who matters in this house is Aimee. And the only guilty one is Juan del Diablo. Clemencia looks pensive and does as she's bid.
Meanwhile, down on the patio, Renato's still drinking when Aimee enters. He greets her sarcastically; he finally has the honor of the presence of his faithful wife, he says, lounging lethargically in his chair. He wonders facetiously whether she doesn't have some morning sickness or headache or something. Aimee got some of her spunk back and ventures a criticism.
She sees he's still drinking, she complains. She didn't marry the jerk he's turned into! she gestures pointedly. Unconcerned, Renato replies, well that makes two of us. We were both mistaken. Rising unsteadily, he looks at her abdomen and nastily remarks, but for this -- this child you're expecting, I'll have to put up with it the same as you.
Renato reaches out to touch Aimee's cheek in fake affection, and she smacks him away. He grabs up the cognac decanter and pours himself another glass sloppily from two feet away up in the air, dribbling it all over the floor. Yes, since we're both sick of each other, we'll just have to stomach it, Renato says.
At the beach shack, Jacinta and Santos bid farewell -- just before Jacinta rushes out after suddenly remembering she forgot the fugitive lady at the church. Presently, Remigio rushes in to grab Santos and take off again. He's sure the guard is after them, and they don't have time to change out of their female garb -- nor should they. They need the disguise, he says. They round up their purchases to abscond.
Jacinta can't find the fugitive lady at the church anywhere; and sure enough, María del Rosario has made it out to the town square and is ranting and raving to anyone who will listen about the letter she found, that her sister poisoned someone, and that she slept on her grave. Two ladies are about to take pity on the poor wretch and remove her when Jacinta runs in and gathers her up, claiming she's her aunt. Everybody there heard María del Rosario's ravings -- sellers, buyers and perhaps importantly, the soldiers, too.
Aboard the Luzbel, the crew all spy someone coming in a row boat, and Colibri discovers it's Remigio and Santos -- dressed in womens' clothes! They are all having a good hoot about that, guffawing and lampooning the hapless ladies coming on board. I had to laugh myself, they were all having such a party. And there they were, Remigio and Santos, doing the boyz a favor, bringing all that stuff. No gratitude!
Things get a little more serious when Juan learns Remigio and Santos needed a disguise to escape the guards, and that they're sure they're not far behind. It's all hands on deck and set sail. Meanwhile, below decks, Regina lurches with the boat and rushes to the porthole. She's delighted to notice that the ship is moving, and runs up on deck to find where they are going.
Regina and Juan are just about to get into another argument when he pulls out the things he had the boyz buy for her, and she grows strangely quiet. Regina glances at the boyz and Juan gratefully and takes her things below to leave Juan to his ship's business. Juan sullenly watches after her from the wheel.
At Raul's, Gabriel has to turn down Alberto on his job offer in Puebla. He has prior commitments to his boss, who has helped make him what he is. Gabriel and Jimena won't be leaving town with them. Alberto understands but doesn't know how he's going to give Mariela the news. She has such hopes. Later when he tells Mariela, she is distraught and won't accept it.
Mariela runs to find Jimena and talk her into it. Meanwhile, Gabriel finds Jimena first and gives her the news they are not going to Puebla. On top of that, Jimena is still worried Griselda will send the law after her; but Gabriel says they will go to Devil's Rock and be safe and happy. Jimena is very sad to have to hurt Mariela, though. And it would be like losing her mother again, she says.
In the finca office, Noel's working at the desk when Leonarda barges in to shock him with the news that they are going to be grandparents. Noel is completely delighted at the idea of having a grandchild; Leonarda less so when he concludes they will be grandparents together. Noel is excited that this child must bring Renato out of his funk now. He'll have to rise to the responsibility. Noel is distracted with happiness, thanking God for a grandchild and rushing from the room to find Renato.
In the captain's cabin, Regina emerges from her side of "It Happened One Night." She wonderingly unwraps all the packages of clothing Juan had the boyz buy for her. It's the finest his money could buy in the plaza, and mostly red and white, with even a bright string of beads.
Regina's face lights up with wonder and appreciation; and as she exchanges her nun's habit for the peasant dress, we slowly see Regina turn into another woman, one with an air of freshness and freedom. Colibri bursts into the cabin without knocking and gushes at how pretty Regina looks. She does look adorable, and even has a matching red headscarf, worn as Juan wears his.
When Regina tells Colibri rather churlishly that his captain shouldn't have bothered, he informs her that everyone was worried about her and wanted her to get well. They are all happy she's better. She has friends on the Luzbel, he says. In that case, Regina says, she won't scorn their efforts; and they sit on the bed together to enjoy some of the fruit they brought.
Meanwhile up on deck, Remigio is surprised to hear that Juan doesn't intend to go to Devil's Rock any more, on fear of being caught. Instead he orders Remigio to bring the ship about and to head north. The soldiers they're sure Renato and Rodrigo are sending won't find them heading north, Juan says. Remigio shouts the order. Make it so.
At Raul's Mariela convinces Jimena to talk to Gabriel again about staying with her. When Jimena finds him later, she's able to convince him to let her stay with Mariela until they find out something about Mariela's daughter. But he won't go to Puebla. Later on, Jimena and Mariela are happy with that much.
Dr. Pablo is checking Rosenda's blood pressure at his office, and it's looking good. She is so grateful that everyone has been so kind to her, she says. But at some point she has to leave, and she doesn't know what's going to happen with her life. Turns out, Pablo has been mulling this over and wants her to work in the office there with him, he says.
Rosenda is delighted, and when she points out she knows nuthin' 'bout birthin' no babies, Pablo's got that covered, too. He will be happy to teach her what she needs to know. Rosenda gushes and smiles adoringly at Pablo. She thanks him profusely and accepts.
Pablo returns her big smile and also asks that she call him by name, instead of doctor, since they'll be working together. Rosenda leans toward him a little and thanks him, repeating his name and looking him in the eyes: Pablo. A look passes between them, and then a little fluster on Pablo's part. Rosenda is fond of the doctor.
Today is the day of Raúl's little house party, and Mariela has bought a dress for Jimena. With a turn or two around the floor, the camera segues to Jimena in the dress and her erstwhile grandparents gushing how much she looks like Mariela at her age -- and how lovely she looks. Mariela is thrilled Jimena accepted the dress and looks adorable.
Presently, Fulgencio and Eloísa and Leonarda and Rodrigo arrive and are introduced to Alberto and his wife and daughter. Leonarda says she is already acquainted with Jimena and that she read her palm before. Eloísa repeats to Fulgencio that Jimena read in her palm that she should be careful where Fulgencio was concerned -- that appearances can be deceiving.
And she never understood what it meant, she says. Eloísa gets Jimena to read Fulgencio's palm, and it's just as disconcerting. Jimena says he's surrounded by treachery and that many weapons are involved. Many weapons. Rodrigo remarks he's a practical man and doesn't buy into such nonsense; but Leonarda does -- and Mariela, too. Fulgencio agrees with Rodrigo, although he looked a little taken aback at first blush.
Jimena responds that she never lies, and because of that the warnings should be heeded, to which Eloísa scoffs and asks who would betray Fulgencio? Who indeed. The door bell rings and it turns out to be the private investigator with news of Mariela's daughter: she is thought to be here in town. Mariela is ecstatic, having known instinctively that she was still alive.
Clemencia visits Rosenda at Dr. Pablo's while Marlene is there. Rosenda asks Clemencia how she knows her, and it catches Clemencia off guard. When all she can manage is that the two of them worked together in the same house, Rosenda logically observes then she must know who the father of her child is. That's twice in one day that Clemencia has been speechless.
Back at Raul's, the family is all excited about the private investigator's news. He is just leaving when Gabriel and Noel arrive, and in the shuffle near the door, Gabriel accidentally runs into Jimena. He takes one look at this lovely girl and gets a shock: it's Estrella. He calls her by name, wonderingly, and Jimena looks horrified. Jimena's grandmother tells him that it's Jimena, and finally -- finally -- Gabriel sees who she is.
But it's not good. He approaches Jimena, who looks like a deer in a headlight, and says, So, you are Estrella. You deceived me. All the time you were deceiving me, he bites out between gritted teeth. Jimena is shaking her head no. Gabriel continues -- No matter how much it made me suffer! He turns on his heel and exits, with Jimena calling after him. Everyone else in the room looks at Jimena quizzically.
And finally, aboard the Luzbel, it's a beautiful night when Regina pulls up on deck in her free and easy peasant clothes. To the music of the waves lapping the boat and the light of the moon, she's smiling and breathing the sea air when Juan appears in a flash from up in the rigging. The two of them stand alone there, together, gazing at the night and each other. Don't say anything, Juan says, smiling at her. It could ruin such a lovely moment, don't you think?

Yes, they had so much Jimena and Gabriel stuff. Don't get me wrong; I like those two. But as Aribeth says, they're not main characters.
I noticed Juan let Colibri go up to the top sail to look out, and I wondered whether at some point the little booger is going to fall to the deck, from the warning he gave him.
I love the interaction between Juan and Regina. It is much more subtle now that the directors have changed but there is definite chemistry and I look forward to seeing this coming into bloom.
Regina looks so much better in her peasant clothes! She looked like she was more comfortable in them, too! I think she is happy not to be under someone's thumb like she has been all her life. This is her first taste of freedom and it agrees with her.
Aimee and Renato - you get what you pay for... I felt sorry for Renato but no longer. He is a Montes de Oca for sure. Aimee has to come up with a baby somehow. Look out Rosenda!
Fulgencio just might take at least some of Jimena's offering to heart. I am sure he doesn't see Eloisa as a source yet, but he is a smart guy!
I want to smack Gabriel! What a dumbass! I hope Jimena goes to Pueblo with her madre and abuelos and finds a new dude! Especially I want everyone to know who she is. The clues are there. Solve the puzzle.
Noel was so cute! Leonarda looked at him like he was crazy - your grandchild?
People love to slap each other in this show. Men love to manhandle the ladies. Lots of violence...
Wow, I hadn't thought about Aimee and Rosenda's baby -- nor about Fulgencio getting a suspicion pea planted in his brain. He did look as though he were considering what Jimena told him.
Noel was a kid in a candy store! He was so adorable.
Connie and Teresita, Regina did look absolutely beautiful. If I ever need a fashion makeover (and I strongly suspect I do), I'm calling Santos and Remegio. What great fashion mojo. Who knew?
Gabe would have been unhappy in whatever scenario revealed that Jimena is Estrella. Having the realization triggered actually "seeing" her was more shocking than if she had told him, which she should have done long ago. I can't blame him for being upset but hopefully he will get over it soon.
Another heartache for poor Noel. Delighted for the grandchild that doesn't exist. Ack.
Pablo and Rosenda. Another love, sweet and pure, blossoms.
Juan and Regina: "...stand alone there, together, gazing at the night and each other. Don't say anything, Juan says, smiling at her. It could ruin such a lovely moment, don't you think?" Yes, yes I do.
I'm so happy that the recappers continue to provide the summaries for us. Thank you all. This is really, reallly, getting good.
I suspect I will return several times throughout the day to read additional comments. Of course, Juan's picture will have absolutely NOTHING to do with my return. ;)
Diana
In fact, it should be easier now that he's on screen more and not wearing straw in his hair from jail cells, etc.
I like the couple of this show. Half of them are way over the top but nevermind. :)
- Tarzan from the Seas and Santa Martyr are The Chemistry aka The Fighting Diablos
- Remigio and Malu are The Sweetness
- Rosenda and Doctorcito *hi, Pablo...* are Redemption
- Jime and Gabe are Too Much. No, I'm kidding. They're "The Little Mermaid meets The Hunchback of Notre-Dame". (I remember Prince Erik from TLM was a huge dumbass, too.)
- Jacinta and Pedro are a little bit strange together, but I like them, too.
On the dark side of the Force:
- Fed and Eloisa are Dumb and Dumber
- Leo and Rod are two tightass hypocrite mummies after 200 years of rotting
- And what about Renato and Aimee? They are Alien vs. Predator locked in a small room forever.
Bye-bye, nun habits! I admit that after a while I got fed up with Reggie's new wardrobe as well, but her peasant skirts and blouses are hundred times better than the habit and those cheesy pink/green senorita dresses. And I love her corset.
Btw, have you noticed that Regina's favourite words are "majadero" and "pelado"? :)

Regina did look nice in her peasant clothes. As Teresita and Diana said, it's fun to see the chemistry between them and await their falling in love with each other.
Colibri is such a cutie, I hope nothing happens to him on that boat.
I know Renato is upset but he needs to man up and do something aside from being a mean drunk. As Sue noted with Regina, blaming others is easy. It's your life (Renato) stop being a victim and change your life to the way you want it. We all know his Dad wouldn't want him in an unhappy marriage.
Connie and Terrylee - yes, its completely creepy that Rod and Leo go to events together even though they two peas of an evil pod. However, in the morality play of TNs we know this simply digs a deeper hole for them and hopefully guarantees Noel will finally get a good wife.
Teresita - ITA with you regaring Fully. He's a smart guy and Eloise and Fed better watch out.
Aribeth - Loved your couple analysis.
"Wishing I could have seen Regina in her peasant dress as well."
I'll upload many photos of her dresses later.

Sigh.
I was having such a good time with the past two episodes up until that point, too. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard at anything as I did the Adventures of Santocita and Remigio, Queens of the Pueblo. I really liked seeing how happy Regina seemed to be with Juan's gifts, too - you know how Princess Aimee would have reacted. Peasant dress? Ay ay ay! And from the plaza? She'd probably hold them at arm's length like she expected them to carry the plague!
Jimena was pretty enough in her new dress to be a ho - wouldn't she make a nice matched pair with Lulu? (Who is breaking. My. Heart. She's such a pretty thing herself, and the way she looks at Remigio...)
I do find halfway-redeemed Rosenda to be much more tolerable a prospect for Doctorcito (who was himself rather adorable in his beflusterment). I hope it doesn't go all wrong when she gets her memory back.
I'm glad Aimee's 'pregnancy' didn't redeem Renato any. That would have been too easy. Boooy, did I enjoy watching her gets hers.
Leona is so prude and quick to judge Aimee, but She's a married woman and she slept with Rod and is parading herself with him all over town. I hope Noel and Jimena's mom hook up. They are both very sweet.
I like the new and improved Rosenda. She and the doctor are headed for the altar for sure.
Yes, Gab is dumber than most. Maybe the good doctor needs to check his vision for him.
Noel was so cute about learning he was to a grandfather. He puffed up like a peacock.
Rosemary
Aribeth wasn't it you who mentioned who was going to be in the new version of El Privilegio de Amar? Could you letme know again who's going to star in that one.
Sue, Remi truly seems to want to uphold and believe in the truth. He is highly principaled although never harsh or condescending. He's also trusting. It follows that he would believe the word of the woman he loves. The thought Malu might not be anyone else other than who she says she is would never occur to him.

It's complicated. Originally Salvador Mejía wanted to remake EPDA. To be more specific, he wanted to make a new adaptation of the book "Cristal" by Delia Fiallo. Approximately three weeks ago we got the news that Mejía changed his mind: he "gave" the idea of Cristal to his wife, Nathalie Lartilleux (Cuidado con el angel, Mar de amor) and he decided to remake Marielena, another Delia Fiallo story. The last adaptation of Marielena was made in 1993 by Telemundo with Eduardo Yanez, Lucía Méndez, Salvador Pineda and half of the Guadalupe cast.
In the meantime Mejía has been working on his favourite idea, the remake of Cuna de lobos (13 episodes/year). He started the preparations last summer but delayed the project in favor of making CS.
Oookay. Two days ago Mejía announced that instead of Cristal/EPDA or Marielena he'll remake Mi rival, a story by Inés Rodena (last version: Amada enemiga in 1997 with Dominika Paleta and Susana Dosamantes). He'd like to have Victoria Ruffo and Maite Perroni as protagonists.
To sum it up, I don't know who'll be the protagonists of the EPDA remake. If there will be any at all. It's hard to follow the plans of the Mejía-Lartilleux couple. :)
Only one thing is sure: Mejía wants to work with Brad Pitt Levy. He's the first candidate for the Cuna de lobos (the newest title: Derecho de sangre) remake. Rumor says that Danna Garcia may return to Televisa to play the female lead.
In a way I can understand where Renato is at. He was a sensitive guy and cared about people and obviously didn't have the strength of character to handle Aimee's deception. It looks like he still doesn't believe her in spite of what Mama and Tio have said.
Gabe, Gabe, OMG!! No one else had any trouble recognizing Jimena in her blanco duds. That part is slightly unbelievable, beanie time.
Doctorcito was really cute and sweet with Rosenda.
ITA that Remigio is being a bit dense, I mean, Lulu is not exactly dressed like a cook!
Thanks Jeri for the very well-written recap, ditto what everyone else has said about it!
I actually can understand where Renato is at. He is a sensitive person and cared about people, and didn't have the strength of character to handle Aimee's deception. It appears he still doesn't believe her in spite of what Mama and Tio have said.
Gabe, Gabe, OMG!!! No one else had trouble recognizing Jimena dressed in her blanco clothes. Beanie Time.
Doctorcito was very cute and sweet with Rosenda, and she does look so happy and relaxed.
I'm not sure what to think about the potential baby. I still suspect it is Juan's because I can't imagine she didn't get pregnant as much as they were together.
That scene with Juan and Regi at the end was just wonderful!
Ivy, yeah, what is it in Renato that makes his mistrust so great now. It's like the flip side of trusting everybody and everything, as he did before.
Anaiss, I am so sorry you missed seeing the episode, as it was an excellent ep. It's #83 if you get a chance to look at it online somewhere.
I thought i remembered that you were discussing at one time that Guy Ecker was going to do the remake?
Telefutura is showing Querida Enemiga at 11 am.
No, I never talked about Guy Ecker, as far as I know he'll make a telenovela for Telemundo. :)
As I said for me Mejía's plans are too difficult to follow. :) I've read at least 15 "official" versions about Mejía's next projects.
Imho El triunfo del amor is the new title of Mi rival. B version: he dropped Mi rival and returned to EPDA.
Here's the twitter of Mejía:
http://twitter.com/productor_mejia
And yes, he says that William will do El triunfo de amor.
!Pero como alguien dice.Por algo pasan las cosas.William confirmado para La Novela"El Triunfo Del Amor"
Dana Garcia...confirmada para Derecho de Sangre....Gracias
For example, Rosalinda (Mejía, 1999, with Thalía and Fernando Carrillo) is considered being a failure in Mexico (and successful in other countries). I accepted this fact for 10 years but I checked its ratings a few weeks ago and I realized that it had higher ratings than La madrastra and MEPS which were very successful telenovelas. But the failure of Rosalinda is a common knowledge in Telenovelaland. And how many other gossips have become facts in time... The casting rumors and the hundreds of never-existing on-set romances and scandals.
The producers also change their minds every week. Actors left productions. Televisa changes the budget and the timeslot of the telenovelas. And so on. :)
El Privilegio de Amar - 34.8 (Estrada)
La Usurpadora - 33.3 (Mejía)
Fuego en la Sangre - 31.5 (Mejía)
Destilando Amor - 30.8 (Díaz)
Abrazame Muy Fuerte - 29.6 (Mejía)
Amor Real - 29.4 (Estrada)
Rosalinda - 28.5 (Mejía)
La Madrastra - 27.9 (Mejía)
Manana Es para Siempre - 27.9 (Díaz)
Mujeres Enganadas - 27.5 (Larrosa)
El Manantial - 26.7 (Estrada)
Las Vias del Amor - 26.5 (Larrosa)
Entre el Amor y el Odio - 26.3 (Mejía)
Maria Isabel - 26.1 (Estrada)
Mariana de la Noche - 25.9 (Mejía)
Alborada - 25.8 (Estrada)
La Esposa Virgen - 24.0 (Mejía)
El Derecho de Nacer - 23.8 (Sotomayor)
Mi Destino Eres Tu - 23.4 (Estrada)
La Verdad Oculta - 23.2 (Larrosa)
Infierno en el Paraiso - 22.2 (Sotomayor)
Mujer de Madera - 21.8 (Larrosa)
Sin Pecado Concebido - 20.8 (Castro)
Mundo de Fieras - 20.5 (Mejía)
La Casa en la Playa - 20.2 (Brena & Morris)
Pasion - 19.8 (Estrada)
As far as I know Sortilegio had 26,2 points. The ratings of CS hasn't been publicated yet, but I tried to count it out and imho it's between 22 and 23. It had 24-27 points in 2010 but it sucked in December (17-18 points).
Abrazame muy fuerte was a terrible pierce of basura. Even with FC I could hardly get through it.
Oh, don't get me started with AMF, I hate it, too. :)
Yes, fortunately bad ratings don't mean low quality automatically. I don't like many things in Pasión, but it's much better than Las vias del horror, por ejemplo.
Renato and his madness, my short version.
Aimee, Juan and Regina lied to him:
- Juan is a rich cousin, not a poor guy from Europe
- he accepted his friendship only to get a chance to destroy the Montes de Loca family
- he already managed to bankrupt Hot Rod
- J&R are lovers (supposedly)
- therefore his BFF Reggie is a slut
- Aimee knew this but didn't tell him anything
And the worst thing: the suspicion. Aimee's behaviour's always been strange and Renato KNOWS that she still hides something from him.
I think Ren feels like the biggest fool on Earth and he doesn't even know the whole truth yet. He's overreacting the situation but don't forget that he had been living in a fantasy world all his life.
I think Renato is pretty sure Aimee slept with Juan, which was why a few episodes ago he was beating up on her and insisting she tell the truth. Last night he also said his "faithful" wife sarcastically. And he told Clem the reason he was drinking was because he couldn't stand the pain of his suspicion. He just doesn't have any proof yet.
Renato was the only one I liked & did not like the actor in the original, but Cristián es muy guapo.
He is on my keeper list.
Since I sleep through most of CS, I only try to keep up with the main characters.
I loved Regina's new look. The white and red ensemble with jewelry was lovely though the red corset looked a little too tight to be comfortable unless it had stretchy elastic. I, too, would like to buy something from Santo's and Remigio's new casual spring collection.
Some story lines require a beanie for sure: Gabe as a dimwit recognizing Jimena as Estrella because she changed her clothes and yes, without that veil which had covered her face and Remigio's assumption that Malu is innocent and pure. She's working at a house of ill repute and doesn't dress like a cook. Duh? But that's okay by me, it just makes these novelas sillier and crazier. Time to let the brain rest and relax.
Colibri is still the wise one in this group. He is very observant and is helping to mend Juan and Reggie's relationship.
Am loving this novela.

I hope this comment works because I tried to publish 2 yesterday and they never showed up. Wonder what's up?
Colibri resembles the cabin boys of old who would ride at the top of the mast so light weight to see what was off on the horizon. But I did look to see that he appears not very far up where the ropes are pretty thick. I am more worried about Rosenda's baby too than Colibri. Aimee is so unscrupulous that she won't hesitate to stuff pillows in her gown until she can make a neat kidnapping.
I loved the way Fulgencio played the disbeliever but note how his head cocked and eye sharpened when Jimena got right to the betrayal bit (he acts like he suspects everyone already, with good reason) and her arms comment when supposedly no one in that room knows squat about the arms smuggling business Fulli runs.
I just got blithering tired for the first time about Gab and Jimena/Estrella. Basta.
Rosenda is so pretty she makes a better country maiden with a belly full of forgetfulness that she made a slut/personal services maid for Rod. Doctorcito and she both are too handsome a couple for that not to work out but Arcadio is so experienced in kidnappingand deception, he may link up with Aimee to get that cute baby. Eeeewww.
Barbara: I read the comments you posted yesterday (they were sent to my mailbox). Blogspot sometimes absorbs comments but they do show up eventually. :)
Imho the acting in CS93 was great and layered.
However, I'm sorry that the writer of that telenovela cut the Luzbel scenes and the whole love-hate tension out from the book. (If I imagine EP and EG on the ship: OMG!) In the previous version Juan and Mónica were almost in love when they got married, and their relationship was much calmer and softer. I admit when I was watching CS93 at the first time I was thinking: "Okay, did I miss something? Did I slept through an episode? When did they fall in love exactly?" I haven't been able to figure it out yet though I've read at least 30 analysises on TN-World. But after the honeymoon the Juan/Mónica relationship got very beautiful and enchanting, no wonder why they are so popular. I also love the second part of CS93.
Aaaand they got married in episode 24-25 instead of episode 539, I mean, 80. :)
Aribeth, curious where Rubí fits in on the list (Castro). It won Novela of the Year in its time.
It does appear the reason Mejía continues to get projects is that he delivers the ratings.
I also want to see Christián in more roles. In case anybody missed it, I made a few screen caps of him from CSI:Miami here.
GinCA, thank goodness for Colibri. His role is kind of a little Cupid.
Also, Leonarda is so protective of Renato, but what she and Rodrigo did a couple decades ago is killing him.
Barbara, people have been complaining about comments not appearing. I haven't lost any this time, but it's happened before...
Cheryl, Fulgencio said he is a practical man, so I would be inclined to think Fulgencio would actually suspect that instead of being psychic, that Jimena knows something about his business. That's the most dangerous situation for her.
Since 1998 Camila (29), Nunca te olvidaré (31,7) and LFMB (31,3) gained the highest ratings in that timeslot.
Btw Abrazame muy fuerte started as a 8.00 telenovela but it was so successful that Televisa decided to move it to 9.00.
Thank you for the Cristián screencaps! :) What a beautiful man.
On the disappearing comments: Things have been goofy on this site the last few days. Every time I comment, I get "error" and have to redo my password.
I love your list, and I would love to see the 8 p.m. shows, too. What about Apuesta Por Amor? I heard it didn't do that well, but I liked it (lots of Juan Soler) and Paty was nice.
Also: do you show "Angela?" (Castro) That's one of my all-time faves.
It's 1998 in the 8 o'clock hour here.
Jeri, I liked Angela too. Jose Alberto Castro had some nice novelas. I LOVE "Pueblo Chico, Infierno Grande", such a crazy fun show, pain and mayhem all around. Half the characteres died and the other half ended up in misery but I liked it. It was different.
Jarocha
But I agree with one of you that acting in this TN ise much better than 93...
ang I don't understand why so many people repeat and reapet the 93 version...
but I love every moment of Huan and Regina and watch them over and over again on online.
thanks everyone for the info you give time after time.

I blame Salvador Garcini for the over acting of the first 70 or so episodes of CS09. You can really notice the difference once he stepped down, it all got much better. I have no idea why Garcini is so sought out in Televisa. He is awful.
Jarocha
"The characteres spoke in ways I could see people doing it in real life. I could get that the novela is not for everybody's tastes, some might find it boring but the quality is fantastic."
I agree completely. I have problems with its script, and some of the bloodthirsty fans wore out my patience in the last 8-9 months (yes, they managed to hurt the reputation of their favourite show), but beyond doubt it's one of the best TNs of Televisa. The directing and the acting were outstanding and the characters lived.
Every time I look at the opening credits my heart warms. (I'm not joking.) If the first 35 episodes were a little bit different I'd be one of the biggest fans of it.
Jeri:
I'll post the ratings tomorrow. :)
It seemed like they intended to hit every perversion possible, but somehow it worked since the entire production was on such a surreal level.
GinCA
Some nice romances here--Rosenda and Dr. Pablo, Remegio and Malu, not to mention Juan and Regina.
(I don't include Gabe and Jimena--Gabe's being an idiot and it's sort of nice to have a break from the sunshine and roses frolics on their part. Let Jimena have some time with her mother. Didn't she look pretty in that new dress?)
Speaking of new dresses, Regina looked wonderful in the new peasant clothes and hairstyle.
La Paloma
La Paloma, oh, never fear: I always put an email subscribe on the threads, so even if there's a post next week, I will get it! Thank you.
Thanks for the great discussion today. :D
I really miss the Joven Rey of the Novellas- WLG(William Levy. I hope they come up with a good role for him he's a talented joven.
Because of the wonderful recappers I am learning Spanish and having fun doing so. Gracias all of you.
