La Verdad Oculta EP06 09/09/2010 - Faucets, daughter, blackmails and a chameleon

* Club Sagitario
Gabriela announces to the whole branch that she's going to quit because she and her family want to leave Mexico City. Mario asks the boys to leave them alone and politely questions the girl if she likes her job. Of course! They talk about her dad, how educated, intelligent, strange and lovely he is. Mario says that he may help Fausto. Gaby innocently says that she's sure that her dad would be a good employee, and she'd love to see him dressed up like Mario sitting behind a pretty desk. Mario is completely charmed by the kind nature and beauty of his child.

* Guilléns' flat
Fausto and Yolanda are still crying and discussing the past. We learn a few more facts about the mysterious case of Marta: Fausto was mad with jealousy because he was afraid that Marta would leave him and return to Mario, and he even threatened her in front of Yolanda. After her death Fausto tried to defend himself against the charges. He looked for his friend who was a detective and asked for his help. His friend believed in his innocence, but he was murdered while he was investigating the case of Marta. Yolanda is appalled. She firmly advises him to travel as far as and as soon as possible, because Adolfo Diabólico is the co-owner of the restaurant where Gaby works, and btw, the son of Mario obviously has a crush on her.

* Club Sagitario
Outside the office Carlos and David mock, argue and almost Inside the camera room Gaby and Julieta enthusiastically tell funny stories to Mario about the extraordinary talent of their dad: he is able to disguise himself and alter his sound to look like and sound like anyone. Seriously, anyone. Mario promises to help this great guy. Gabriela happily hugs him. Mario swoons. Outside he tells Abelardo that his hija is marvelous!

* street
It's early morning. Leonardo moves into the flat and in the meantime he's chatting with his neighbour, Dona Pachita. Fausto pops up and asks if they have a wrench because the faucet of their washing bin broke and they can't fix it. Leo offers his help. In the Guilléns' flat Gaby is worrying about the geyser in their kitchen. Macho boy arrives, gives the wrench to Fausto who insists on fixing the faucet by himself. He introduces himself and leaves.

While Fausto is tinkering in the kitchen the doorbell rings. Gaby opens the door, no, it's not Abelardo but David. He doesn't want her to quit the job, much less due to his fault. He's even ready to talk to her father. Fausto shows up and when he learns that his name is Genovés he rudely throws out the boy.

* Genovés villa
As usual, Bertha lies on the coach and enjoys being rich = does nothing. Mario arrives home and she's still too interested in his health.

* Guilléns' flat
Gabriela is indignant at the unacceptable behaviour of her father towards David. The boy didn't want to do any harm! Fausto looks a bit ashamed, but tells the girls that he doesn't want them to return to the club.

* Genovés villa
Blondie visits Mario in the study. He asks his son about Gaby and if he really is molesting her. Mario doesn't want neither he, nor Carlos to abuse their position. Since he looks pale and weak, David asks him if he feels well. Yes, of course. David leaves and Mario orders Abelardo to tell Fausto that they have to meet in his house.

Suddenly Adolfo shows up and asks Mario why he wanted to meet him. Mario can't wait anymore, he wants to break their association. Since Adolfo has a hold on Mario he confidently rejects his wish. Mario despairingly offers him the stars, the moon and the sun for letting him go, but the old mummy laughs at him. Are you afraid of dying? Because he, Adolfo doesn't care about that little clause of their contract. If he dies, then he dies, and doesn't give a damn about what will happen to his son in the future. Adolfo states that Mario could never convince him and he leaves. Mario is devastated.

* Guilléns' flat
The seeds of rebellion sprout in the kitchen: the girls quietly discuss their Fausto and David. Gaby is ashamed at her father's behaviour and worries about what could David think about them now?! Doorbell. Abelardo, aka El Senor De Los Libros came for Fausto. He unwillingly follows him. The girls also decide to return to the club.

* Genovés villa
Alejandra cripples along in the hall. She tells Bertha that David invited her to the club. Her sister scolds her: we're still mourning, how dare you! (Speaking of mourning, Berthita, I like your purple-gold-green-black blazer.) Ale laughs at her and leaves with Blondie.

In the study Mario and Fausto meet again. So you want to leave the town, man! Fausto explains the situation: Adolfo, the man who accused him undeservedly for the murder of Marta is the owner of the club where his daughters work. He mentions also that Yolanda already noticed the similarity between Gaby and Marta, so he's on the verge of being unveiled. Mario is ready to give another job to the girls, just please don't go away. He needs to be near to his daughter because he doesn't have much time left. Fausto is shocked. He tells Mario that his son, David wouldn't mind hitting on Gaby, and well, this may be a problem. Oh really? Don't worry, says Mario, David isn't his son. (I knew it! Then who's the father? Maybe Adolfo? God forbid.)

* Club Sagitario
The girls visit Carlos to tell him that they will quit. I mean, really. Carlos offers them to give excellent references if they stay for a month. The girls gladly agree. David and Alejandra arrive at the bar. They discuss Bertha and their childhood when they didn't have money. She never cared about that much, but she admits that it's much easier now that they under the protection of their rich uncle. David likes her sincerity. In the meantime Gaby fumes with jealousy.

* Genovés villa
Mario cries and bathes in self-loathing in his study. He tells Abelardo that he has always been a coward, he left Marta when she needed him, he accepted Adolfo's offer because he was frightened, and so on. And now he's sure that Santiago Guzman is innocent, and he feels awful for that poor man. He tells Abelardo about Fausto's talent. More crying.

* Club Sagitario
While Ale is in the toilet Gabriela excuses for what happened in their flat. David is still hurt but when Gaby confesses him how much it bothered her how her daddy treated Blondie he loosens up a bit. He suddenly asks her for a date. Gaby blushes and looks confused, well, you came here with your girlfriend... Alejandra, no, she's my cousin. Great, they agree to meet next day. Ale pops up and says that she's a pretty girl. The cousins continue their conversation, and David states that from that moment Alejandra will be his counselor and confidant friend.

* prison workshop
(At last.) Marcos and Juan José discuss the possible freeing and the future plans of Marcos. To be honest, it doesn't seem like he was going to become a hardworking, decent citizen, he already has some shady plans. When he leaves the prison, everything will be different. JJ isn't thrilled at the blabbering of his friend. Oh come on, shut up and work.

* Guilléns' kitchen
The sisters work out a plan how to meet with David: tell will daddy that they'll visit a beauty salon. Gaby starts to wash up the dishes but the faucet breaks again. The girl looks for Dona Pachita who advises her to ask Leonardo to help. Hot Cop cheers up when he sees his favourite neighbour and gladly repairs the kitchen. What a man, non. Fausto arrives home and thanks him for his help. Leo leaves. The girls finally tell him the bad news: they're going to work for a month. But Fausto remembers Mario's supplication and tells his daughters that they're going to stay.

Honestly, before I posted this, I ran upstairs to check and make SURE I had an episode in the TiVo tonight!

Thank you, Aribeth, for the great summary and screen caps!!

Thank you for posting Jeri!

Aribeth: I started chuckling the moment I read the title. Again, you have outdone yourself. I was hoping for a brief summary and was thrilled to find this marvelous recap. Your words and pictures meshed perfectly. Stellar!

My favorite line was: "As usual, Bertha lies on the coach and enjoys being rich = does nothing". Absolutely!

"Gaby and Julieta enthusiastically tell funny stories to Mario about the extraordinary talent of their dad: he is able to disguise himself and alter his sound to look like and sound like anyone. Seriously, anyone". Hmmm. Was this just adoring children waxing enthusiastically about their father or will this be relevant to the storyline at some point?

This episode was very revealing. I agree - I think Adolfo is David's father. Adolfo is a cold hearted snake, isn't he?

This is getting good. Gaby and David have good chemistry and of course I'm waiting to see if it's the same between Juan and Ale.

My only complaint was Juan's 2 minutes "(prison workshop) (At Last)"of screen time. More Juan please!

Have a great weekend everyone and Aribeth, thanks again for the excellent pictures and recap.

Diana

Dora has to be in their household for some good story reason; it would be interesting if she were David's mother.

The actress who plays Dora is well-known in Mexico for a long time, I think. So she's not just there for nothing, is my guess.

Thank you Aribeth for the recap and Jeri for posting it. You filled in a lot I missed due to my captions being off and missing in places. I can read Spanish pretty well, so if I have captions I do OK, but if the captions are missing well I don't have a clue. I keep thinking I will understand what they are saying I watch so many of these but it just never comes.

I think the girls going on about how great their father is was to get across what a great actor he is. And then Mario believed that this mans life had been destroyed and he was innocent and could have been a great actor.

I also believe that David will turn out to be Aldofo's son. When it comes out will Carlos then want to kill him? Brother against brother?

Yes too little Juan time. Come on get him out of jail already.

Finally we get a show! Thank you so much Jeri. This was a great recap that captured it all. And I just love your pics.

I am so glad that it has now been confirmed that David is not Mario's blood child. I think much of Faustiago's freak out at David had to do with his thinking he and Gabi are siblings. But who's his real dad then? And who was his mother? I really doubt he's Adolfo's. He doesn't even care about the son he currently has.

I'm glad that Mario is now convinced that Faustiago didn't kill Marta, and Yolanda too. But they both want Faustiago to do different things. Yolanda thinks he should flee with his daughters to protect them from Adolfo. And Mario of course wants them to stay so that he can be near Gabi in his final days. The girls are going to be very confused with him changing his mind every other day about their next move. I was touched by the hug between Gabi and Mario, and the scene with him and the two girls. It was obvious how happy he was to not only meet his daughter, but to be in the presence of both of Marta's girls. Once again though, I would be freaking out if I were Gabi and Julieta to have all these folks in my business.

So we have another unsolved murder- Faustiago's detective friend. This makes three unsolved murders- Marta and detective 20 years ago, and hotel girl 11-12 years ago.

I have an idea about how Faustiago's chameleon acting skills are going to be used, and now understand why he and Mario are being played by the same actor. He's going to take Mario's place! That's my guess, not a spolier. But it now makes sense to me. It's obvious that Mario is not long for this world and won't last the 6 months left in the deal with Adolfo. He and Faustiago need to hire a good detective to start making some progress solving these murders, like now.

The way Adolfo slights Carlos all the time makes me think he might not be Carlos's son.

Yolanda defended him so staunchly the first time we saw her, that I think she might be his mother. Don't know who his father would be.

But Carlos is very fond of Yolanda, too; a natural affinity, I'm thinking.

Hello friends, Thank you for posting the comment page Jeri. Aribeth thanks a lot for the title and the summary. I wasn't going to watch this show but thanks to modern technology,I can tape and watch at a reasonable hour. The fact that I can't resist my boy Eduardo has nothing to do with it.This is a well written,well acted and to me very interesting show and as usual Univision has no idea what their viewers need or want.
Gaby and Julieta were so funny and comfortable with and Don Mario. One could sense his regret and love for the daughter he can not yet acknowledge .A lot is being revealed and I hope Carlos and David are not brothers.I don't much care for Carlos.What is Bertha's problem?She gets a roof over her head and now she is not content? What's up with that?
Till tonight,unless Univision decides to to pre-empt the show again.

Hanna

Vivi, I'd love to take credit, but today's summary and screen caps belong to Aribeth. :-) I just posted them.

The plot line about the role switch is already given in the synposis which I posted before the show started.

So, not a spoiler anyway. It's the first post of the blog, located at...

Synopsis

Hanna, "...This is a well written,well acted and to me very interesting show and as usual Univision has no idea what their viewers need or want..."

Truer words...!

"...The fact that I can't resist my boy Eduardo has nothing to do with it..."

LOL, no of course not.

Thanks Jeri and thanks Aribeth!

I try not to read too much of the details in the synopses because they often give away too much info.

Vivi, totally agree; normally, I'm a spoiler-hating freak. But in this case it was unavoidable, since I was working on the blog.

So that particular cat was out of the bag. It's been mentioned at least once when somebody asked if the actor was playing both roles.

Thank you, Aribeth, for the very helpful recap. At midnight, I use my husband's t v which has no captions since they distract him, so I am lost quite a bit. The Mario/Fausto actor mumbles a lot (shades of Marlon Brando in the Godfather with the cotton balls) and Gabi speaks rapid fire too.

Only 30 seconds of E Y but I got my quick fix for the night. Hope he is out of jail soon and has much more screen time.

Wonder who David's mom and dad are? If his dad is Adolfo, it couldn't be any worse than Rosendo being J M's dad in STuD. If so, then in the nature vs nuture contest, let nuture win.

Thanks to Jeri too,

GinCA

Jeri and Aribeth, thanks for recap! I haven't been able to watch episodes last few nights, so thanks for helping keep me informed so when I get to view LVO I'll be up to date and can understand what's going on.

Thank you for posting, Jeri! Also thanks for the youtube links.

Thank you for the comments! They make our heart warm. :)
The next posts will be a bit shorter since we need to preserve our energy, but the most important/interesting scenes will be explained in the comments sections.

My only complaint was Juan's 2 minutes "(prison workshop) (At Last)"of screen time. More Juan please!
Agree! :)

Lynda:
I can read Spanish pretty well, so if I have captions I do OK, but if the captions are missing well I don't have a clue.
Oh, sometimes, when I watch a very difficult scene I wish I had close captions, but can't use anything else but my ears. However, fortunately the pronouncination of the Spanish language is similar to mine so if I don't understand a word I can look for it in the dictionary. With English it's much harder.

Though Bertha hasn't had many scenes yet and she always came off as a spoiled, obnoxious little princess, I like her. Margarita Magaña is cute.

I was touched by the hug between Gabi and Mario, and the scene with him and the two girls. It was obvious how happy he was to not only meet his daughter, but to be in the presence of both of Marta's girls.

So was I, it was so good to see them together. The pure joy on Mario's face and the girls' innocent enthusiasm were lovely. And as you said, Julieta is also his beloved Marta's child, so he likes her presence, too.

Jeri:
The way Adolfo slights Carlos all the time makes me think he might not be Carlos's son.

I have the same feeling when I watch their scenes. What if he isn't Adolfo's child AND Dolphie knows that. But that would be too much, wouldn't it? David isn't Mario's son, Gaby isn't Faustiago (thanks, Vivi, I like it) daughter, and now Carlos may not be Adolfo's son? What's next? Roberto's Juan José's twin? :)

On the other hand, I can imagine that Carlos really is his son, and Dolphie detests him because despite the same gene pool Carlos doesn't have his ruthless, strong, clever personality. And/or he simply hates the boy's mother.

Hanna:
This is a well written,well acted and to me very interesting show and as usual Univision has no idea what their viewers need or want.

I completely agree. Maybe LVO will become a circus, but so far it's an intelligent show, and I don't understand why it didn't have better ratings in Mexico.

Yeah, obviously I meant might not be Adolfo's son; typo. Unfortunately, cannot edit comments...

This is novelaland: third time is sometimes the charm. I don't see that necessarily as an impediment.

Adolfo is just not a good guy, though; so mistreating his own son is not an impediment either.

Yolanda warned Adolfo not to mistreat his son. Why does she love Carlos; she seems very fond of him.

Aribeth- I think you're right about why Adolfo hates Carlos. He sees him as being weak, soft and very unlike his strong, devious self. Too me this points to Carlos being his blood child even more. Adolfo is evil enough to not even care about his own flesh and blood, while good Mario is capable of deeply loving a child who is not his blood. Same thing with Faustino. So the questions are, who is David's dad, who is David's mom, was Mario ever married, and who is Carlos' mom and was Adolfo ever married? Not sure why Yolanda would have ever given her child over to Adolfo if Carlos is hers. She seems to have all the perks of a wife- gets financial support from Adolfo, wanders in and out of his house as she pleases, gets to be on his arm when they go out, gets to speak her mind to him, and all without any of the duties of a wife. That's a pretty sweet deal. But it's clear she thinks he's a dangerous man.
