La Fea Más Bella #23-24 9/28/10 Here comes the bribe.

Read Chris's original recap. Note, that recap covers Caps 22 - 26. Cap 23 starts at the paragraph that begins, “Fernando and Marcia discuss his plans to give Lety signing authority” If you don’t want to read ahead, stop at the paragraph that begins, “Ariel the Little Mermaid shows up at J.R.’s apartment.” That begins Cap 24.

Capitulo 23

1. Diana warns Miguel to manage Lety carefully. If she tells Fernando, they’ll never buy from CineRent again. Miguel says Lety is out of her league.

2. Alicia sobs to Marcia about being broke. Marcia agrees to a “loan.” Ali sends Saimon to pay the bills, but there’s not enough for fines and reconnection, so she pays on her credit card bill.

3. Fernando takes Lety to the bank for signing rights. Marcia hates the idea of having the company’s money in Lety’s hands.

4. Fernando tells the banker that Lety will have total authority while he’s away. The banker tactfully questions whether they want to give Lety so much more authority than Olarte had. Fernando declares that she has his total confidence.

5. Lety proposes Tomás to fill Olarte’s position, but Fernando refuses because he has no experience.

6. Fernando proposes that Magalay star in the Benny video, and Marcia turns into a major shrew. But Luigi has to admit that she’s the best choice.

7. Miguel offers Lety a 5% bribe if they purchase from CineRent. She flatly refuses until he appeals to her love for her family. He throws in a 10% discount. Lety reports to Fernando that CineRent has the lowest prices.

8. Fernando says Lety will be in charge while they’re in LA. Marcia objects because he’s putting too much power into her hands. Fernando affirms his confidence in her honesty and loyalty.

Capitulo 24

Read Chris's original recap. Note, that recap covers Caps 22 - 26. Cap 24 starts at the paragraph that begins, “Ariel the Little Mermaid shows up at J.R.’s apartment.” If you don’t want to read ahead, stop at the paragraph that begins, “In the morning, Paula rides to work with Omar.” That begins Cap 25.

1. Fernando has more confidence in ArteVideo, but he decides to buy their supplies from CineRent because their prices are lowest. Lety is consumed by guilt.

2. Alicia collects info about CineRent for Ariel. Alicia and Paula scrap. Marta tells Paula that Ali is stuck on Omar.

3. Lety tells Tom that she told the cuartel she loves him so she wouldn’t feel left out. He says she should accept the bribe. It’s easy money, she didn’t get a raise, and her family comes before her job.

4. Ariel talks abusively to Alicia again. He’s dissatisfied with her spying report, but he assigns Olarte to investigate a possible bribe. Then he date rapes her.

5. Omar takes Paula dancing. He suffocates her with kisses and she protests, “I’m not that kind of girl.” But she IS that kind of girl, as the next scene indicates.

6. Alicia calls Omar to say she misses him. The call wakens Paula sleeping beside him.

7. In bed, Marcia tells Fernando that having Lety around gives her a lot of chances to “make up” after they fight. In that case, he says he’ll try to make her angry (amargada – bitter) more.

8. Lety wrestles with the bribe. How can she betray Fernando after all he’s done? But she loves her father most of all. One day Fernando will be gone, but her father is forever.

9. Lety dreams that Fernando holds her and tells her how much he likes her. He almost kisses her but Mama wakens her. Mama discovers she was dreaming about kissing Don Fernando.

10. Fernando tells Lety to make reservations for 8 days in LA. Olarte finds out from Miguel that he offered Lety a bribe. Lety calls Miguel to arrange the purchase.

Well, Tomás had already guessed that Lety is in love with her boss. Remember when Lety swiped his Alicia picture, so he swiped the red cloth? Now Mama Julieta gets strong evidence too - she discovers that Lety was dreaming about kissing Don Fernando. Speaking of which, have you noticed? Lety's dreams and fantasies always get interrupted before she gets the kiss. Watch for that.

We're entering a Golden Age between Lety and Fernando. Her love for him is deeper because of how much he respects and values her, and all he's done for her. He has COMPLETE confidence in her; he has proclaimed that several times. He adores her in every way except as a woman. There is NOTHING to come between them right now, and in this golden age their friendship can deepen. Even her promotion to executive helps facilitate that.

Saw part of this Paula, and was surprised to find how sorry I felt for Alicia, being cornered and abused by Ariel. She was so hateful during most of this, but I didn't realize how cruelly she had been humiliated by him, and how misled about Omar's affections as well. The way she was protectively hugging the sofa pillows to her body hoping to stave Ariel off was very poignant.

Loving all of this except the twin shrill heeheehees of Lety and her mom.

Thanks again Paula and Chris. Lety's dreams are always fun to watch.

Ariel is such a creep. It's hard to watch him in action. I actually felt sorry for Alicia. Thomas had said something earlier about how just because one is attractive doesn't mean they don't have problems as well. Alicia certainly has problems.

I'm not sure that Lety's mom knows that she was dreaming about kissing Don Fernando. She knows Lety was dreaming about him, and she is quite aware of how Lety feels...but I don't think she knows the specifics of the dream --although whether or not she does hardly matters. She knows her girl is hooked!!!

I thought it odd that Lety recommended Tomas for Olarte's replacement. Aren't Lety and Tomas equals in terms of education? If so shouldn't SHE be the one to take Olarte's place? Maybe I'm missing a detail here. Or maybe Letty is just that magnamimous that she'd put a friend before herself. I'm thinking out loud here.

The scene with Ariel and Alicia was simply horrible! I could say more but I'll refrain. It's enough to say I actually felt sorry for her. I think Ariel made an enemy tonight. And how sad that Omar was her refuge.

I think Lety recommended Tomas for Olarte's job because she'd just as soon keep her job in the little room right next to Don Fernando Tan Divino! She doesn't crave power - she craves only DFTD.

Earlier I said I didn't like Lety's scrunchy-faces. I think "twisty-faces" would have been more accurate. Fortunately Fer seems to think they're cute, or at least funny.

I also wish she'd lose the giant star at the bottom of the braid. At least yesterday's dress didn't seem too bad, comparatively speaking.

What was PM doing with her skirt just before Omar picked her up?

One last thought: Wallldorrrrfff!!

Hahaha! Sounded like Warrrdorf!

Paula, I forgot to say your title for this recap is wonderful, simply perfect.

Thanks, Sylvia. Must be a fluke. I'm lousy at titles. If I had my 'druthers, I'd title all my recaps, "I can't think of a title."

Paula...that's how I'd title all my recaps too. However "Here Comes da Bribe" is great. I remember Gloria, the Wednesday recapper for ENDA never titled her recaps. It was always ENDA Wednesday and the date. Truly it's an option.

I'm not 100% sure... but... I don't think people were titling recaps much when I started recapping here. I started titling mine because I needed to have some way to remember which recap was which - the dates weren't good enough.

But I regretted the recap-titling trend soon afterwards because once it caught on, I had a heck of a time coming up with good ones!

Chris is hilarious with the 'bat ears' for Miguel and
"dancing around in a micro-mini skirt and a top that looks about like a band-aid."
too funny...

Julie, Paula was trying to make her skirt shorter yet. Physicists wonder: how far can you reduce something, such that there is still something remaining?
