La Fea Más Bella #33-34 10/5/10 Noche de Perros.

Read Kim's original recap. Note, that recap covers Caps 32B – 34A. Cap 33 starts at the section, “Missing Recap 10: Delicious sandwiches.” If you don’t want to read ahead, stop at the section, “Missing Recap 12: Setups.” That begins Cap 34.

Capitulo 33, Noche de Perros

“Noche de perros,” means “night of the dogs,” but it also means a sleepless night, i.e. insomnia.

1. Tom brings Lety the checkbook and spots Alicia.

2. Saimon urges the cuartel pity Alicia and give her the check; they just laugh. Marta says she’s trying to get Omar to move in. Which upsets Paula. Which upsets Saimon.

3. Fern teases Omar because Alicia is pressuring him to move in.

4. Fernando tells Lety to loan Conceptos 300K pesos from FI, and he gives her a blank promissory note (pagaré) and letter of instructions. He needs Conceptos to be indebted to FI. When she asks why, he dodges, then he wonders why she’s worried.

5. Ariel calls Alicia with more threats. Paula gives her a snotty look and goes to Omar’s office, where she starts to seduce him. She says the door is locked, and he gives in. Alicia walks in, mid-liplock, and makes a scene. Paula just laughs.

6. Alicia tells Fernando she quits. Okey-dokey. Fernando reams out Omar for his indiscretion. Luigi counsels Ali to not quit. Lopez tells Ariel about the scandal.

7. Lety pleads for Paula’s job and reminds Fernando that by labor law, Omar is just as culpable as Paula. Omar begs Fern to get rid of her to avoid the awkward situation. Fernando says no way. That poor girl shouldn’t pay the price for Omar’s lack of self control.

Fernando tells Lopez to give her a verbal reprimand only. Lopez tells Paula that the decision is his. He will decide when they have a late night “counseling” session, somewhere private.

Capitulo 34

Kim’s recap for Cap 34 spans two web pages. ReadCap 34, Part 1, starting at the section, “Missing Recap 12: Setups.” Then go to Cap 34, Part 2, and stop at the section, “Missing Recap 14: Alicia, Lety, and Lopez get unlucky.” That’s the end of Cap 34. Then come back here to discuss it..

Take heart. Kim’s section headings and episode breaks will line up, starting with Friday’s shows.

1. Fernando repeats to Luigi that the expensive models are for the shoot only. Lui brings in the models to say “pretty please.” Fern agrees to use them but at a reduced rate.

2. Saimon doesn’t want Paula to meet with Lopez, but she can’t afford to lose her job. Saimon offers to take care of her and Jaimito.

3. Claudia Bosh visits Fernando since Marcia is traveling. Lety has to work late, so Fernando tells her not to leave her office for any reason until he tells her to. Lety hears Claudia say, “Are you sure no woman could change your mind about getting married?” Lety says to herself, “I could.”

4. Lopez is hitting on Paula in an antro. Marta is afraid to give Lopez’s cell and home numbers to Saimon.

5. Alicia tells her dad she quit. Omar arrives to apologize. Ali will get back with him under two conditions: that Paula is fired, and that he moves in, or better yet, marries her. Omar says that’s asking too much, and he leaves.

6. Alicia goes to Ariel’s to beg for work. The only business deal he’ll make with her has to involve sex.

7. Lopez tells Paula he wants some of what Omar got. Saimon apparantly reached Lopez’s wife. She comes to the antro in robe and curlers, yells at him, swats him, and drags him home.

8. Fernando uses his usual line: he might be convinced to marry somebody else, but first he’d need to take a test drive. He should have an answer by morning. While Lety suffers in her cave. They leave for Fatima’s apartment but Fernando forgets to tell Lety.

Do you want to play a game?
It's called, "Pick your favorite Jaime Camil mustache!" Today we saw him in a green pencil mustache. But this is not the only time he's worn a 'stache. So please tell me your favorite from these choices:
A. Green pencil
B. Captain Hook
C. Revolutionary
D. Payaso

Thank you, Pata, for the pencil mustache screen shot. (I know I could've included the one he grew for LEP, but that's not as much fun!)

Hola Paula. Remembered to turn of the TV so this one got recorded. Painful to watch how the women are manipulated by men...actually felt sorry for Alicia again, as well as Paula Maria who is definitely barking up the wrong tree if she's looking for a father for her son. Poverty leads to some very bad decisions and there are always people to take advantage of weakness...whether it be economic or physical. Glad the saving of Paula Maria was humorous. This is, after all, basically a comedy.

Oh and for me, the pencil mustache wins hands down.

I'll go with the green pencil mustache, because I don't like the other kind of mustache that is made out of hair.

I was horrified, way back when, when I was reading the ancient BLF recaps where the HR guy insisted that Aura Maria meet with him after-hours or else lose her job. And it still makes me shudder to read about it with Lopez and PM. Shudder, shudder, shudder, even though I know it turns out okay.

"Night of the Dogs" indeed.

I looooooove the green pencil mustache. The others I do not care for.

Hi Paula, thanks again. The pencil mustache wins, although the link was fun but It was a very bad mustache. Actually My favorite camil mustache is from Siete Dias.

So thanks Paula for making this so much fun. And Thanks Kim for the original recap.

All these women offer sex to get what they want, and they all lose.
Paula tried to get Omar as her sugardaddy, and then provoked the incident to get Alicia out of the way, and instead she got used by Omar, pawed by Lopez, and almost fired.
Alicia promised Omar the night if he helped her with the business plan. He got the night, she got no business plan. Then she pitched her wares to Ariel, and now she’s his slave.
Marcia uses great sex to keep Fern coming back, but outside bed, he finds her more annoying by the day
Fatima comes in like a fireball, and keeps asking if Fernando mightn’t want to marry someone else. Fernando will let her know after the testdrive. Anyone want to lay odds on that answer?
OTOH, Lety gave absolute loyalty, complete support, and selfless love. What does she get? As the theme song says, Cada día te quiero más (I like you more each day). Already Fern likes her company better than Marcia’s.

Does it kind of seem like Fernando and Luigi are more civil toward each other, since they reconciled?

Lety’s outfit looks nice! The sweater fits, the dress swishes and has shape, no granny collar.

The cuartel can be very cruel too. Not just that they hid Alicia’s chek. But when Saimon told them that Ali had her electricity and gas shut off, they thought that was hilarious.

In ancient warfare, kings and generals had a shield bearer (often ceremonial) who stood behind the king's right shoulder. When Alicia came in to Fern's office to quit, my husband said, "Oh, Lety's in the shield bearer position!" We'll see her take that postition more and more when adversaries come into the office.

It's become a trend. Fernando says/does something nice for Lety and in response, Omar says/does something mean. Fernando obligated himself to Lety with the loan, and Omar almost tripped her again, this time with the chair.

EXCELLENT EPISODE WEDNESDAY! Don't miss it!

Watch for a scene in Wed's first cap, #35. As Lety is writing in her diary, we see Fernando at his desk, looking for answers. Watch his face very carefully. He gives a whole monologue without uttering a word.

I liked the payaso moustache because he was so darn cute in the interview and he was having fun with the dog. I know, doesn't make any sense at all.

I'll try to watch Wednesday's to watch tomorrow's episode. episode but darn it I have a super busy week ahead, doing something every night and then getting ready to go away for the weekend. If I seem quiet this week that's why. But I will really try to catch tomorrow's episode.

I can't believe Alicia approached Ariel for help.

Paula, I was struck by the cuartel's insensitivity also. Granted Alicia has treated them with contempt and rudeness from the get-go. But Irmita was the only one who showed compassion for her very real financial distress. However, we seldom feel sorry for those who have treated us badly, do we? At least not at first.

Thanks for the insight on the shield-bearer position. Very interesting.

Marta, I saw your post on Monday's recap. Yes, the Mendiolas took in the Villoreal kids when Fernando was about 8 or 10. We get more details about it, later in the series.

So Marcia and Fernando were raised basically as siblings, and now they're engaged? That's a little weird.

Lety hears Claudia say, “Are you sure no woman could change your mind about getting married?” Lety says to herself, “I could.”
this is an interesting addition, in BLF they did not have Betty utter any response, that is IF she actually heard what Armando/Claudia Bosch were saying...
Paula, regarding the 'cada dia te quiero mas' and the opposite toward Marcia (I remember Fernando had a grunt reaction when Marcia came in to interrupt Lety's confession about the commission...) and you are right, Fernando seems to be getting gradually closer and closer with Lety and farther away to Marcia adn the idea of marrying her.
again, here in LFMB Fernando's change is more gradual and begins to show visible signs much earlier than Armando in BLF. I agree on wednesday scene where Fernando/Armando say volumes with just body language while we hear Lety/Betty write in her diary... wonderful scene in both versions!
